- 0:25Speaker 1: It is time to believe your worries outside and laugh
- 0:30Speaker 1: with us inside the treehouse. I'm Daniel Malley along with
- 0:35Speaker 1: Trey Trenholm and Raj Sharma on a Wednesday, November sixth,
- 0:41Speaker 1: twenty twenty four, E Day plus one E standing for
- 0:49Speaker 1: election Election day plus one. I know, I know you're curious.
- 0:55Speaker 1: What are the guys in the treehouse thing? We've got it.
- 1:01Speaker 1: We've got an alleged new president. What do we think?
- 1:05Speaker 1: Where are we going to talk about it? We'll get
- 1:09Speaker 1: to that, but first we need to piggyback on something
- 1:12Speaker 1: that we did yesterday, and that is the new term
- 1:17Speaker 1: we learned that is election distress. Because there are some
- 1:28Speaker 1: places in our fine, fine nation that have seen fit
- 1:31Speaker 1: to give people sort of a day off today because
- 1:38Speaker 1: of election distress. They were so stressed about voting or
- 1:43Speaker 1: just the election in general that they've been given a
- 1:46Speaker 1: mental health day today from election stress. Obviously, not us.
- 1:51Speaker 1: We've we're gen x. We threw our mental health caution
- 1:54Speaker 1: right into the wind like a wood chipper.
- 1:56Speaker 2: And into a colassal whiskey.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Yeah, where where it's healthy?
- 2:02Speaker 2: Right? No?
- 2:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll tell you who has election distress?
- 2:09Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 2:10Speaker 3: Media companies because half their ad revenue and inventory just
- 2:13Speaker 3: went bye bye.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Yeah. Those those election buys, man, those those election buys
- 2:19Speaker 1: buy houses, cars, oh my god, yeah, cyber trucks.
- 2:30Speaker 4: But they time it pretty close because the you know,
- 2:32Speaker 4: Christmas will be around, uh soon enough, and the you know,
- 2:35Speaker 4: and then the the super Bowl will be around and
- 2:37Speaker 4: then Valentine's Day.
- 2:38Speaker 2: They're good.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Yeah, it'll it'll even out somewhat. But there is in
- 2:43Speaker 1: every every couple of years, you get that, uh you
- 2:46Speaker 1: get that just real mega election cycle.
- 2:50Speaker 4: Yeah, ending, and you get that, uh you get that
- 2:54Speaker 4: Hampton's money.
- 2:56Speaker 3: That's I wish we would go to the British model
- 2:58Speaker 3: of elections. That yeah, I think it's you have six
- 3:04Speaker 3: months the campaign.
- 3:06Speaker 1: That's it.
- 3:07Speaker 3: You can't do it anything before, you can't announce anything.
- 3:09Speaker 1: You have six months. I would wear the powdered wig
- 3:14Speaker 1: if we went to that.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Even the campaigns are bland.
- 3:21Speaker 1: They actually officially declare I did uncover some tips though
- 3:30Speaker 1: or dealing with election distress disorder, not making that up
- 3:38Speaker 1: if I have read this correctly. According to a couple
- 3:41Speaker 1: of articles. According to the American Psychological Association, election distress
- 3:53Speaker 1: or election stress disorder is a real thing in two
- 3:59Speaker 1: thousand and that actually say, let's not sugarcoat this. The
- 4:02Speaker 1: simple truth this is, according to an article, is that
- 4:05Speaker 1: the last two presidential election cycles have been brutal for
- 4:09Speaker 1: a majority of Americans. In twenty sixteen, polling by the
- 4:12Speaker 1: American Psychological Association revealed that fifty two percent of American
- 4:18Speaker 1: surveyed said the election that year was a significant source
- 4:21Speaker 1: of stress in their lives. Four years later, that number
- 4:25Speaker 1: had risen to sixty eight percent. One might think twenty
- 4:29Speaker 1: twenty NUNS was an anomaly. Oh no, but there is more.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Experts actually believe the problem is worse and will be
- 4:39Speaker 1: worse this year. So keep in mind four years ago,
- 4:45Speaker 1: sixty eight percent of us were suffering from election stress,
- 4:49Speaker 1: and now they think that that percentage is higher. So
- 4:53Speaker 1: someone has put together a few things we can do
- 4:55Speaker 1: to try to help with our election stress. According to
- 5:01Speaker 1: a doctor, Democrats and Republicans say they feel that democracy
- 5:07Speaker 1: is under threat. So all of that, at the very
- 5:12Speaker 1: least puts high stakes into the election. That's according to
- 5:16Speaker 1: CBS News Elections and Surveys director Anthony s Alvanto, noting
- 5:20Speaker 1: that people are feeling the pressure no matter their political party,
- 5:24Speaker 1: so how can we keep that stress and anxiety in check.
- 5:28Speaker 1: Here's what the experts around the country suggest. Number One,
- 5:32Speaker 1: in order to deal with election stress, they want us
- 5:35Speaker 1: to exercise. Well, it might be the last thing on
- 5:38Speaker 1: your mind. Getting in some movement or other activities you
- 5:40Speaker 1: enjoy can help decrease stress. Number two, stay off of
- 5:50Speaker 1: or limit social media. That's kind of a good recipe
- 5:54Speaker 1: for life in general. That's let alone trying to deal
- 5:58Speaker 1: with election stress. Then number three, to try to help
- 6:03Speaker 1: cope with election stress, just avoid talking politics. A doctor
- 6:11Speaker 1: came up with this, a doctor someone that went to
- 6:14Speaker 1: school for many, many years. But together the three important
- 6:17Speaker 1: things you have to do to help cope with election stress.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Number one, exercise, number Tuesday, off social media. Number three,
- 6:23Speaker 1: just don't talk politics. Wow, thanks, doc, appreciate it.
- 6:26Speaker 2: I was sure it's like an MD or like a
- 6:28Speaker 2: PhD in art history.
- 6:30Speaker 1: I think it's I think it's a chiropractor.
- 6:37Speaker 4: I mean I exercised, I ran to the liquor store,
- 6:43Speaker 4: and then yeah, yeah, I stayed off social media because
- 6:47Speaker 4: I blocked out, and I didn't talk politics because I
- 6:51Speaker 4: couldn't form words.
- 6:52Speaker 2: So I think I did. I think I did everything right.
- 6:58Speaker 2: You know what.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Well, well done, sir. Yeah, I feel better And I
- 7:04Speaker 1: didn't even do those things. I felt better just hearing
- 7:06Speaker 1: about you doing them. A great that sounds like the
- 7:11Speaker 1: uh the the you know, that sounds like the prescription
- 7:15Speaker 1: we need to deal with election stress.
- 7:17Speaker 4: Yeah, and if anybody asked him, like, hey, it was
- 7:19Speaker 4: doctor order, that's all I gotta say.
- 7:22Speaker 1: By who doctor Sharma?
- 7:24Speaker 2: That's right.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Which there's a plenty.
- 7:32Speaker 2: Of four million across the globe.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Yeah, doctor charmy, you see him too, Yeah, totally, he said.
- 7:39Speaker 1: He said he got exercise running to the liquor store.
- 7:44Speaker 4: Yeah, stayed hall social media because he blacked out and
- 7:47Speaker 4: uh didn't talk politics because he couldn't form words.
- 7:49Speaker 2: That's exactly how it's done. Oh, I don't feel any
- 7:52Speaker 2: stress at all.
- 7:55Speaker 1: How much is my copey?

- 9:50Speaker 1: a little while ago, we learned that we are all
- 9:53Speaker 1: likely suffering from what is now known as election stress
- 9:58Speaker 1: disorder according to the American Psychological Association or a p A.
- 10:04Speaker 1: For sure, and there is something that every few years,
- 10:08Speaker 1: I will pull out because it makes me feel so
- 10:11Speaker 1: good around election time. And that is from what is it? Raj?
- 10:17Speaker 4: You said every few years you pull out because it
- 10:19Speaker 4: feels so good. I was distracted from I was getting
- 10:25Speaker 4: a scam call, So that's all I heard, and I
- 10:26Speaker 4: was like, well, good for you. Every few years you
- 10:29Speaker 4: should pull out there.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Just to mix things up a little bit. You know,
- 10:39Speaker 1: sometimes you want to pretend like you're a fireman.
- 10:49Speaker 2: Right, that's all I heard.
- 10:50Speaker 1: That's okay, bad. Did you guys ever watch the show
- 10:55Speaker 1: Third Rock from the Sun when it was on starring
- 10:57Speaker 1: John Lithgow? Mmmmm, Jordan Gorse if Levitt was on that,
- 11:01Speaker 1: I think it was Jane Curtin as well, French Stewart,
- 11:06Speaker 1: French Stewart phenomenal show. And they of course John Lithgow,
- 11:12Speaker 1: French Stewart, Joseph Gordon, Levitt and Johnson. I'm forgetting the
- 11:17Speaker 1: other girl's name, the actress. They all played aliens inhabiting
- 11:21Speaker 1: human bodies. Trying to assimilate on Earth until they get
- 11:26Speaker 1: rescued or whatever. Right, So John Lithgow is playing an
- 11:29Speaker 1: alien and they're living in this human world, trying to
- 11:32Speaker 1: blend in as best as they can. And in one
- 11:37Speaker 1: of I think the best episodes I have ever seen
- 11:40Speaker 1: of television ever, is John Lithgow's character having to go
- 11:47Speaker 1: vote and in doing so, in this episode, they put
- 11:53Speaker 1: a spotlight on I think how so many of us
- 11:57Speaker 1: feel when it comes time to vote. I wanted to
- 12:00Speaker 1: share it with you now because I feel like it'll
- 12:02Speaker 1: help with our healing process of our election stress disorder.
- 12:07Speaker 1: So here we go. This from Third Rock from the Sun.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Why we vote?
- 12:12Speaker 7: What's wrong?
- 12:13Speaker 8: What's wrong?
- 12:14Speaker 9: I'll tell you what's wrong.
- 12:15Speaker 10: I'm trying to vote my conscience and I can't even
- 12:18Speaker 10: hear it anymore.
- 12:19Speaker 9: There is no choice. My only choice is not to
- 12:21Speaker 9: vote at all. Democracy is horrible, absolutely horrible.
- 12:28Speaker 11: You're so right.
- 12:30Speaker 3: Democracy is the worst form of government there is, except
- 12:33Speaker 3: for all of the others.
- 12:35Speaker 12: Exactly why you have to bottle.
- 12:41Speaker 8: You can't complain.
- 12:44Speaker 1: I would like to point out this show was on
- 12:50Speaker 1: It aired nineteen ninety six to two thousand and one,
- 12:54Speaker 1: and it holds up and it holds up very very well,
- 12:57Speaker 1: just a little exchange.
- 13:01Speaker 7: If you don't vote, you can't complain.
- 13:02Speaker 9: Complaining is all I have left.
- 13:07Speaker 8: The system isn't perfect, but it's important to participate.
- 13:11Speaker 9: Even if you get it wrong.
- 13:12Speaker 8: Just go to the polls and do what you think
- 13:15Speaker 8: is right.
- 13:17Speaker 5: Thanks for so much simpler.
- 13:18Speaker 3: Where I come from, there's only one big giant office
- 13:22Speaker 3: and wherever outruns, the fireball wins, which doesn't sound so bad.
- 13:29Speaker 2: I would I would do that. I'd watch that on TV.
- 13:31Speaker 1: Yeah, today's political climate, I think we'd all. I think
- 13:34Speaker 1: a lot of us would sign up for that. So
- 13:36Speaker 1: now that scene is concluded, and now we go into
- 13:39Speaker 1: John Litgew's character on Third Rock from the Sun in
- 13:42Speaker 1: the actual voting booth, trying to figure out who he's
- 13:47Speaker 1: got to vote for. He's hitting his head on the
- 14:05Speaker 1: voting machine.
- 14:07Speaker 9: Yeah, I hope I did the right thing.
- 14:30Speaker 1: The hugs a fellow voter.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Yeah, that's that's that's about the feeling.
- 14:37Speaker 1: Yeah, my god, that just every every four years presidential
- 14:44Speaker 1: election time. I I remember that scene, that episode, and
- 14:49Speaker 1: I love That's what I love, pulling out every every
- 14:52Speaker 1: few years and enjoying not just how well it holds up,
- 14:58Speaker 1: but it seems to get truer the older and the
- 15:01Speaker 1: farther away from what we get true.
- 15:05Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure, you pull out to John Letgow. That's
- 15:12Speaker 2: everyone ship.
- 15:15Speaker 1: You know what, Different people show their appreciation in different ways,
- 15:20Speaker 1: dre and that's just how I show mine.
- 15:24Speaker 2: You pull out the French Steward. It's a completely different.

- 16:51Speaker 1: John Lithgow voting in third Rock from the Sun, which
- 16:54Speaker 1: still holds up to which I love to pull out
- 16:57Speaker 1: every few years. I'm just gonna lean into that joke
- 17:00Speaker 1: all day, because why not. And there's there's something else
- 17:05Speaker 1: I want to pull out now for you boys right
- 17:06Speaker 1: here inside the treehouse, and that is something that I
- 17:09Speaker 1: think is going to help one of us immensely. Okay,
- 17:13Speaker 1: So I want I'm going to share with you this
- 17:14Speaker 1: little motivational video of a man that is not as
- 17:18Speaker 1: well known as Tony Robbins. He's not exactly on the
- 17:24Speaker 1: pantheon of greatness with Patent or Churchill or any of
- 17:28Speaker 1: the other great motivational people of our planet of our
- 17:34Speaker 1: time until now. I'm now going to share with you
- 17:40Speaker 1: this guy, and he is your new motivational leader.
- 17:45Speaker 2: Hi. This for thirty nine ninety nine.
- 17:47Speaker 12: Guess what, folks, you take the l away? You put
- 17:50Speaker 12: a w there, baby, You're a winner man, you're the
- 17:54Speaker 12: real guilt. You're picking up chicks.
- 17:57Speaker 1: I should probably have stated that this is a sports
- 18:01Speaker 1: card salesman, and while he's trying to get you to
- 18:05Speaker 1: take advantage of this deal on boxes of sports cards,
- 18:09Speaker 1: I think his real message is being delivered on life
- 18:11Speaker 1: as a whole.
- 18:14Speaker 8: Hi.
- 18:14Speaker 12: Guess for thirty nine ninety nine, Guess what, folks you
- 18:17Speaker 12: take the l away. You put a w there. Baby,
- 18:21Speaker 12: You're a winner. Man, You're the real deal. You're picking
- 18:24Speaker 12: up chicks. Let me tell you something. You buy this
- 18:27Speaker 12: set at thirty nine ninety nine.
- 18:29Speaker 5: Baby, you're the cock of the walk.
- 18:31Speaker 12: Man. You walk into the bar and you just find
- 18:33Speaker 12: the hottest hick and you go.
- 18:35Speaker 2: You me guess what she says?
- 18:37Speaker 12: Why would I go out with you? Because I bought
- 18:39Speaker 12: the deal on the wild West Deals for thirty nine
- 18:41Speaker 12: ninety nine. That's why she says, can I go home
- 18:45Speaker 12: with you?
- 18:46Speaker 2: That's how simple it is. I have never and I
- 18:54Speaker 2: talked for a living. I've never found myself speechless.

- 19:28Speaker 5: That's why.
- 19:30Speaker 1: This guy looks like if Rob Wriggle and Ziggy Smashed
- 19:37Speaker 1: smashed his face up against a tank for about four
- 19:40Speaker 1: or five years.
- 19:41Speaker 2: Yeah, and he's got the body style of Ziggy from
- 19:44Speaker 2: the cartoons.
- 19:46Speaker 1: He already does. But this is a guy that clearly
- 19:48Speaker 1: knows he's not going to just physically be able to
- 19:53Speaker 1: pick up any chick in the bar based on looks.
- 19:55Speaker 2: Right, he's got it correct.
- 19:57Speaker 1: He's gonna have to depend on his guile, on his personality,
- 20:07Speaker 1: on his attitude to carry him through.
- 20:11Speaker 12: She says, can I go home with you? That's how
- 20:14Speaker 12: simple of this. That's how it works. That's what this
- 20:18Speaker 12: set brains to the table, because you know what she sees.
- 20:21Speaker 12: She sees a man who knows what he wants. She
- 20:24Speaker 12: sees a man who says good deals don't get buy me, baby,
- 20:28Speaker 12: I move, I A I act quick, I act now,

- 20:45Speaker 12: ninety nine.
- 20:46Speaker 5: Is that crazy?
- 20:48Speaker 12: That's the way it works around here. This deal will
- 20:51Speaker 12: change your life. Don't look up, don't look at yourself
- 20:54Speaker 12: in the mirror and be disgusted Tomorrow don't look at
- 20:56Speaker 12: yourself in the mirror and go what's wrong with me?
- 21:02Speaker 1: Nice?
- 21:02Speaker 5: Try?
- 21:02Speaker 1: Did he.
- 21:04Speaker 2: That is?
- 21:06Speaker 4: He just got disturbing right at the end, like it
- 21:08Speaker 4: was motivational. Now I'm like, I do feel a little
- 21:11Speaker 4: sad about myself.
- 21:13Speaker 1: I feel like I feel like he's speaking to my soul,
- 21:15Speaker 1: not not just not just how badly I want to
- 21:18Speaker 1: supports card set. I do like to think that somewhere, if, if, if,
- 21:25Speaker 1: if there's a valhalla for Pitchmen, yes, that that Billy
- 21:29Speaker 1: Mays is is up there thinking this is a bit much.
- 21:35Speaker 2: The the the odin the odin Pitchmen. This guy's auditioning
- 21:42Speaker 2: for the or.
- 21:44Speaker 1: And you've got Billy May's just going like maybe just
- 21:46Speaker 1: tone it down and that.
- 21:49Speaker 4: Little But what if, like here's the scary part, and
- 21:52Speaker 4: this is how my brain works.
- 21:53Speaker 2: What if he's right? Like what if Like You're like
- 21:56Speaker 2: one night, You're like, you know what, I want.
- 21:57Speaker 4: To go talk to that chick but I can't, and you,
- 22:00Speaker 4: you know, you muster up all your strength, you walk
- 22:01Speaker 4: over there, Hey, you know, would you like it?
- 22:03Speaker 2: Can I buy you a drink?
- 22:04Speaker 4: She's like no, and then she walks out of the
- 22:06Speaker 4: bar with a friend she's like, but he doesn't even
- 22:08Speaker 4: have a baseball card collection.
- 22:10Speaker 2: And then you know what I mean, the whole time,
- 22:14Speaker 2: this guy's been right.
- 22:15Speaker 1: It's like and then then in the parking lot, she
- 22:18Speaker 1: runs into a guy who's wearing a polo shirt that
- 22:21Speaker 1: on the chest it says Fleer eighty nine and painties
- 22:24Speaker 1: just fall off.
- 22:29Speaker 4: This guy just walks up like I got a cal
- 22:31Speaker 4: Ripken rookie. And she's like, we're going home now.
- 22:36Speaker 1: We're making babies because you know what, this planet doesn't
- 22:40Speaker 1: have enough of you guys.

- 24:07Speaker 1: some news that is non election based, at least as
- 24:11Speaker 1: far as we think, and what is possibly the last
- 24:16Speaker 1: place I'd ever want to be found dead. A Walmart
- 24:19Speaker 1: employee was found dead inside of a walk in oven.
- 24:24Speaker 2: Mm hmm ah.
- 24:29Speaker 1: Which may showed, you know, which may go to show
- 24:32Speaker 1: the links at which some people will go to avoid
- 24:34Speaker 1: election coverage. No, no, that's that's not That's not the case. Here,
- 24:41Speaker 1: a Walmart employee was found dead inside of a walk
- 24:43Speaker 1: in bakery oven. I didn't even know those existed, because
- 24:48Speaker 1: whenever I've heard the term walk in, I think food
- 24:51Speaker 1: service industry. I think fridge walk in. When anyone ever
- 24:54Speaker 1: talks about the walk in, it's usually the fridge. The
- 24:58Speaker 1: only time I've ever heard of a walk in oven
- 25:00Speaker 1: was never something good, And I didn't even know that
- 25:05Speaker 1: they actually existed in modern day times. But I guess
- 25:10Speaker 1: they do. But I guess. The good news here is
- 25:14Speaker 1: that the cause and manner of death have not yet
- 25:17Speaker 1: been determined. Police in Canada said they're investigating after a
- 25:21Speaker 1: nineteen year old Walmart employee was found dead inside a
- 25:25Speaker 1: Stor's walk in bakery oven. Can I just say that
- 25:31Speaker 1: there are a number of ways in which I hope
- 25:33Speaker 1: that I do not die, and inside of a walk
- 25:36Speaker 1: in oven is high on that list. Now, Yeah, I
- 25:42Speaker 1: would like to just point out I don't want to
- 25:44Speaker 1: die inside of a Walmart, period, but if it's good,
- 25:48Speaker 1: let alone inside of a walk in oven, inside of
- 25:52Speaker 1: a Walmart. If I die, If I die inside of
- 25:57Speaker 1: a Walmart, suspect foul.
- 26:00Speaker 2: Play, it's all or nothing for me, buddy.
- 26:06Speaker 1: There's no ovens. They're not cooking a damn thing there,
- 26:14Speaker 1: officers responded to the Walmart located in Halifax, Nova Scotia,
- 26:18Speaker 1: after the employee was found. It's a very sad story.
- 26:20Speaker 1: But again, just when you it's not every day you
- 26:23Speaker 1: see a headline that says Walmart employee found dead inside
- 26:27Speaker 1: walk in oven.
- 26:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:32Speaker 1: The only time I saw I've even seen something that
- 26:35Speaker 1: reminisced a walk in oven was on one of the
- 26:37Speaker 1: episodes of the new season of the Boys, and that
- 26:40Speaker 1: didn't turn out good for that dude either.
- 26:43Speaker 2: Yeah, that is a.
- 26:48Speaker 4: There's usually like even in the walking like the same thing,
- 26:50Speaker 4: like when I think walking, I think walking cooler. There's
- 26:54Speaker 4: usually a push button on the inside that you can
- 26:55Speaker 4: like just pop right out. So I don't know what
- 26:59Speaker 4: would have I don't know if that's the same case
- 27:01Speaker 4: in a walking oven.
- 27:04Speaker 1: I don't know, but I've had that thought as well,
- 27:07Speaker 1: like having the emergency things on the inside, like anytime,
- 27:11Speaker 1: like like I rented a car recently and in the
- 27:13Speaker 1: trunk that's got the emergency release from the inside, and like, man,
- 27:18Speaker 1: if you way he acted up as kids, we didn't
- 27:19Speaker 1: have that. We were just stuck in the trunk.
- 27:25Speaker 4: The truth, and they didn't go to the extent of
- 27:28Speaker 4: like putting the spare tire back in to where it goes.
- 27:33Speaker 1: We're just rolling around with the jack and the tire
- 27:35Speaker 1: irons in the head. That was just part of the punishment.
- 27:39Speaker 2: Yeah, that was part of the course. Absolutely.
- 27:43Speaker 1: I think there was a go ahead.
- 27:45Speaker 3: Drey Oh. The guy was Canadian, so if he could
- 27:47Speaker 3: still speak, he was live. He probably apologized.
- 27:52Speaker 2: Sorry I lucked myself into.
- 27:56Speaker 1: There's actually probably a note scratched into this into the
- 28:01Speaker 1: wall that says, I'm sorry.
- 28:06Speaker 4: Sorry for ruining the bread that.
- 28:13Speaker 1: Really it really is awful. Uh, but yeah, you're right
- 28:17Speaker 1: thinking about I have no idea. I've never been in
- 28:20Speaker 1: a walk in oven. I've actually never really even been
- 28:22Speaker 1: inside of a walk in cooler so I don't even
- 28:24Speaker 1: know if the coolers have the button that you can
- 28:27Speaker 1: hit will release you.
- 28:29Speaker 2: They do, Yeah, they do.
- 28:29Speaker 4: It's a little so the where the where the pull
- 28:32Speaker 4: latches for from the outside when it shuts, there's one
- 28:35Speaker 4: that you just push and it pops the latch out
- 28:37Speaker 4: on so you can just come right back out, so
- 28:38Speaker 4: you can't actually get stuck anymore. You used to be
- 28:41Speaker 4: able to. Then they had a couple of incidents where
- 28:43Speaker 4: people froze to death in walking course, So to minimize liability,
- 28:48Speaker 4: they have the thing where you can just pop it out.
- 28:50Speaker 3: It's usually a big red button that you can.
- 28:55Speaker 1: But in Canada it's labeled the story button.
- 28:57Speaker 2: Yeah, push a.
- 29:04Speaker 1: It is messed up though. I do remember looking the
- 29:06Speaker 1: last time I rented a car, it had a trunk,
- 29:08Speaker 1: and I remember opening the trunk and looking inside and
- 29:10Speaker 1: it had the emergency handle that would work from the inside.
- 29:16Speaker 1: And really we didn't have that as kids. We got
- 29:19Speaker 1: the car seats. What's that we didn't have car seats, No,
- 29:23Speaker 1: we didn't. There have been cases where suspects died in
- 29:30Speaker 1: the back of a police transport for being given what
- 29:33Speaker 1: is known as a rough ride, where they weren't properly secured,
- 29:37Speaker 1: and police were accused of a rough ride, driving so
- 29:41Speaker 1: erradically that it broke the suspect's neck in the back
- 29:45Speaker 1: of the vehicle. That was just childhood for us in
- 29:49Speaker 1: the eighties.
- 29:50Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean we had lap belts, so it wasn't
- 29:52Speaker 4: even a seat belt like that went across. It was
- 29:54Speaker 4: lamp belts. And then anytime you hit, you know, your
- 29:56Speaker 4: mom hit the brake.
- 29:57Speaker 2: So she loved you.
- 29:58Speaker 4: She just put her arm out and if she didn't,
- 30:01Speaker 4: you met the dashboard.
- 30:04Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean that was that was pretty much the
- 30:06Speaker 1: love test.
- 30:07Speaker 2: It was.
- 30:07Speaker 1: Yeah, it was very kind of it's unded like this,
- 30:12Speaker 1: Oh she loves me.
- 30:15Speaker 3: Yeah, because no matter if your parents are pissed off
- 30:17Speaker 3: at you and trying to get get at you in
- 30:19Speaker 3: the back seat and they couldn't reach you, just slam
- 30:21Speaker 3: on the brakes. You're coming forward.
- 30:27Speaker 1: You're up here with me.
- 30:28Speaker 2: Now, that's when people could still drink and drive.
- 30:37Speaker 3: Oh yeah, my dad had a cigarette, a bourbon soda
- 30:41Speaker 3: and he could still whip my ass.
- 30:45Speaker 1: And if he gets pulled over by the police, all
- 30:47Speaker 1: he's got to say is sorry, the kid was acting
- 30:49Speaker 1: up and they let him go.
- 31:00Speaker 5: Business.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Give me some of that dot com. Stop talking back
- 31:07Speaker 1: to your dad.
- 31:10Speaker 13: Official police business.
- 31:28Speaker 5: You're in the treehouse.

- 31:47Speaker 1: dot com if you would like to advertise right here
- 31:50Speaker 1: inside the treehouse, which is where we find ourselves right now,
- 31:54Speaker 1: back inside the treehouse now on Election Day plus one,
- 31:58Speaker 1: twenty twenty four. Look, there's not a whole lot of
- 32:05Speaker 1: things that can happen to bring our country together better
- 32:13Speaker 1: than birthdays. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
- 32:19Speaker 1: Today is, of course, Wednesday, November sixth, twenty twenty three.
- 32:23Speaker 1: Birthdays today. To make us all feel just a little
- 32:26Speaker 1: bit better, Emma Stone is thirty six today. She won
- 32:30Speaker 1: an oscar for La La Land. She was also Kuella
- 32:32Speaker 1: Deville in the live action Kruella movie. She was always
- 32:37Speaker 1: in our hearts, not always, but she won a lot
- 32:40Speaker 1: of people's hearts in Zombie Land when she played the
- 32:43Speaker 1: role Wichita. Other birthdays today. Lamar Odom, former NBA basketball player,
- 32:51Speaker 1: and former Kardashian. He is forty five today. Taren Manning
- 32:56Speaker 1: from Orange Is the New Black and Hawaii The New One.
- 33:01Speaker 1: She is forty six today. She was also on Sons
- 33:03Speaker 1: of Anarchy, and I just realized that there's three shows
- 33:08Speaker 1: that are pretty popular that she's been in and I
- 33:10Speaker 1: have not watched any of them, and I've only heard
- 33:14Speaker 1: great things about Orange Is the New Black. Sons of
- 33:17Speaker 1: Anarchy is supposedly you know, sopranos but with motorcycles, and
- 33:24Speaker 1: I've guessed I'm missing out. I keep watching, you know,
- 33:27Speaker 1: stupid movies like Jason X instead.
- 33:32Speaker 3: You beat me through the punchline.
- 33:36Speaker 2: I'm just glad he called them stupid.
- 33:40Speaker 1: Oh, I recognize it. I wholly recognize some of my
- 33:45Speaker 1: less than stellar movie choices, because look, I blame a
- 33:52Speaker 1: lot of this on my teenage years and having cable
- 33:55Speaker 1: and staying up too late and just watching some of
- 33:58Speaker 1: the weirdest stuff, including you, I say, up all night
- 34:01Speaker 1: with rohndash here. Okay, that's where you got to watch
- 34:06Speaker 1: some really awful movies, things like Toxic Avenger four. It
- 34:11Speaker 1: just some of like those B movies, And I'll be honest.
- 34:14Speaker 1: Part of the reason I was watching USA up all
- 34:16Speaker 1: night is because it was because we didn't have while
- 34:18Speaker 1: we had cable, we didn't have the premium channels that
- 34:20Speaker 1: actually had boobs. So that was that was about as
- 34:23Speaker 1: clothes as I could get.
- 34:25Speaker 2: Gotcha, Yeah, gotcha.
- 34:29Speaker 1: So that's my excuse for some of them. Others it's
- 34:32Speaker 1: just boredom. When I was younger, i'd scroll and say,
- 34:37Speaker 1: like it's a movie, I'll watch that, And I don't
- 34:39Speaker 1: know why, but that's how I've seen certain things.
- 34:42Speaker 4: And did you watch a lot of movies after the
- 34:45Speaker 4: head into the wood thing? Did you watch the did
- 34:47Speaker 4: they like lay you down and let you watch whatever
- 34:49Speaker 4: you wanted to, Like Little Danny got hurt?
- 34:51Speaker 1: Oh oh, when I was when I was a youngster,
- 34:53Speaker 1: when I was like four or five, and on the playground,
- 34:55Speaker 1: I ran headfirst into a piece of playground equipment.
- 34:59Speaker 4: I don't know if it's a piece of play ground equipment.
- 35:00Speaker 4: I think you ran into someone's woodshed.
- 35:03Speaker 1: But well it was on the playground, So if you
- 35:06Speaker 1: don't want me to play on it, don't stick it
- 35:08Speaker 1: on the playground.
- 35:09Speaker 4: Yeah, when you read when you went in head first
- 35:11Speaker 4: to day like lay a little Danny down and they're
- 35:15Speaker 4: like you know what, this is a pretty traumatic head injury.
- 35:17Speaker 4: Let's put on some TV for the poor kid and
- 35:19Speaker 4: see if he recovers. And that's maybe where it started.
- 35:23Speaker 1: That actually makes a lot of sense.
- 35:27Speaker 4: They're like put on Plan nine from outer space and
- 35:29Speaker 4: let's just see what happens.
- 35:31Speaker 1: This, this right here is what happens. Let me be
- 35:35Speaker 1: a walking warning to you other birthdays today. Tandy Newton
- 35:41Speaker 1: is fifty two today. She's been in a number of things,
- 35:45Speaker 1: including West World. She was also Val in Solo that
- 35:50Speaker 1: was the Star Wars flop. She was at Condolieza Rice
- 35:54Speaker 1: in w as well. Rebecca Romaine turns fifty one today.
- 35:59Speaker 1: She is the original Mystique in the original X Men movies.
- 36:04Speaker 1: She's also Eve Baird on The Librarians. Ethan Hawk is
- 36:09Speaker 1: fifty four today. Ethan Hawk, fifty four. I'm going to
- 36:13Speaker 1: use this as a good excuse to bring up the
- 36:15Speaker 1: Magnificent Seven remake. While a lot gets said on this
- 36:19Speaker 1: show about my not poor taste in films, but just
- 36:22Speaker 1: random films that I have seen, I think I have
- 36:25Speaker 1: good taste. The Magnificent Seven remake, which actually has Ethan
- 36:31Speaker 1: Hawk in it as one of the Magnificent Seven is wonderful.
- 36:35Speaker 1: It's also got Vincent Dinafrio, Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt. I
- 36:43Speaker 1: love that movie, The New Magnificent Seven. If you get
- 36:47Speaker 1: a chance, watch it. It's damn good and no one
- 36:50Speaker 1: thinks they have bad taste.
- 36:51Speaker 4: In that's right. I'm so glad that track pointed that out.
- 36:56Speaker 4: Everybody thinks their taste is fantastic.
- 36:58Speaker 1: Yeah, well that's the difference me, Trey as I know it.
- 37:03Speaker 2: Yes, yes, Danny does. He's got a big pencil.
- 37:10Speaker 1: Does with the name on it? You want to know
- 37:15Speaker 1: the definition of irony Raj is that my big pencil
- 37:19Speaker 1: that has my name on it, so it can't be
- 37:21Speaker 1: confused with anybody else's big pencil, even though I'm the
- 37:24Speaker 1: only one with a big pencil because I'm special. Is
- 37:27Speaker 1: it's made from the same wood that I ran headfirst into.
- 37:41Speaker 6: Visit us online Treehouse on Air dot com.
- 37:45Speaker 1: I had a colorful childhood, right, I saw lots of
- 37:50Speaker 1: colors after I hit that piece of wood.
- 37:55Speaker 11: Rainbows and birds and spots.
- 38:10Speaker 5: You're in the treehouse.
- 38:12Speaker 6: Visit us online at treehouseonair dot com.
- 38:24Speaker 1: This is one hell of a story, and any story
- 38:27Speaker 1: worth saying that, it's a hell of a story you
- 38:29Speaker 1: know is going to originate from the great state of Florida.
- 38:36Speaker 1: Florida's convicted killer clown has been released from prison for
- 38:41Speaker 1: the murder of her husband's then wife.
- 38:46Speaker 2: Of course it is and is now available for children's parties.
- 38:54Speaker 1: Look, if we're being honest, Look, she didn't kill any kids.
- 39:04Speaker 2: That's the top of her LinkedIn profile. Kill the kids.
- 39:08Speaker 1: I might be a murderer, but no kids were armed
- 39:14Speaker 1: in any of my murder. I'm gonna read that headline
- 39:17Speaker 1: again because it is a bit of an onion that's
- 39:20Speaker 1: got layers. Okay, Florida's convicted killer clown released from prison
- 39:28Speaker 1: for the murder of her husband's then wife. Who ah,
- 39:38Speaker 1: a woman? This is Fort Lauderdale, by the way. A
- 39:41Speaker 1: woman who pleaded guilty to dressing as a clown and
- 39:43Speaker 1: in nineteen ninety murdering the wife of a man she
- 39:46Speaker 1: later married, was released from prison Saturday, ending a case
- 39:50Speaker 1: that had been strange even by Florida's standards. Well, how
- 39:53Speaker 1: about that lead stating at the beginning, a woman who
- 39:56Speaker 1: pleaded guilty to dressing as a clown and murdering the
- 39:59Speaker 1: wife of a me. I don't think dressing as a
- 40:02Speaker 1: clown is illegal anywhere, let alone the state of Florida.
- 40:06Speaker 1: But according to that lead of the story, it makes
- 40:08Speaker 1: it sound that way you can't do both. Yeah, you
- 40:13Speaker 1: can kill somebody in Florida. You can dress as a
- 40:17Speaker 1: clown in Florida. But look, we're not gonna let you
- 40:20Speaker 1: do god both of those at the same time.
- 40:23Speaker 3: That makes you sound like it's an aggravating circumstance.
- 40:29Speaker 1: Yeah, that that elevated it to the second degree murder
- 40:32Speaker 1: as opposed to just manslaughter.
- 40:34Speaker 4: Had I not been dressed like a clown, in your honor,
- 40:37Speaker 4: I probably wouldn't have killed.
- 40:38Speaker 1: Her, your honor. I fully admit to my mistake of
- 40:45Speaker 1: murdering the woman, But can't we all agree that me
- 40:50Speaker 1: being dressed as a clown is more of a failure
- 40:53Speaker 1: from society than it is my own honk. Sheila Keene
- 41:03Speaker 1: Warren was released eighteen months after she pleaded guilty to
- 41:07Speaker 1: second degree murder for the shooting of Marlene Warren. The
- 41:11Speaker 1: plea deal came shortly before her trial would have started.
- 41:16Speaker 1: She's maintained her innocence even after her plea. She was
- 41:20Speaker 1: sentenced to twelve years in prison, but she'd been in
- 41:23Speaker 1: custody for seven years since her arrest in twenty seventeen,
- 41:27Speaker 1: and Florida's law in nineteen ninety allowed significant credit for
- 41:31Speaker 1: good behavior, it had been expected she'd be released in
- 41:34Speaker 1: about two years. According to Palm Beach County state Attorney
- 41:39Speaker 1: Dave Ehrenberg, Sheila Keen Warren will always be an admitted
- 41:42Speaker 1: convicted murderer and will wear that stain for every day
- 41:44Speaker 1: for the rest of her life. Where is it part
- 41:50Speaker 1: of her probation though, that she's not allowed to dress
- 41:53Speaker 1: as a clown. I'm just murky on the details.
- 41:56Speaker 3: How did she get caught twenty seven years later?
- 41:59Speaker 2: Did she take the clown makeup off?
- 42:06Speaker 1: Her attorney said she only took the plea deal because
- 42:09Speaker 1: she would be released in less than two years and
- 42:11Speaker 1: had been facing a life sentence if convicted at trial.
- 42:14Speaker 1: That's the only reason. She says that she took the
- 42:16Speaker 1: deal while maintaining her innocence. Palm Beach County Sheriff's investigators
- 42:25Speaker 1: had long had let me start that sentence over because
- 42:27Speaker 1: I can't talk. Palm Beach County Sheriff's investigators had long
- 42:31Speaker 1: suspected her in the slaying, but she wasn't arrested until
- 42:36Speaker 1: twenty seven years later, when they said improved DNA testing
- 42:40Speaker 1: tied her to evidence found in the getaway vehicle. At
- 42:43Speaker 1: the time of the shooting, she was an employee of
- 42:47Speaker 1: Marlene Warren's husband Michael, at his used car lot. Since
- 42:50Speaker 1: two thousand and two, she had been his wife. They
- 42:52Speaker 1: eventually moved to Virginia, where they ran a restaurant just
- 42:54Speaker 1: across the border. Witnesses told investigators in nineteen ninety that
- 42:59Speaker 1: then she Laquene and Michael Warren were having an affair.
- 43:02Speaker 1: They both denied it over the years. Detective said costumes
- 43:05Speaker 1: shop employees identified her as the woman who bought a
- 43:07Speaker 1: clown suit a few days before the killing. This is
- 43:12Speaker 1: where it gets a little grotesque. One of the two
- 43:16Speaker 1: balloons she was holding said You're the Greatest, was only
- 43:28Speaker 1: sold at one store, a Publix near her own. Employees
- 43:33Speaker 1: told detectives a woman who looked like her had bought
- 43:35Speaker 1: the balloons an hour before the shooting. What it's about
- 43:41Speaker 1: to get worse. The presumed getaway car was found abandoned
- 43:47Speaker 1: with orange hair like fibers inside.
- 43:52Speaker 2: All nineteen of the people inside got open.
- 44:02Speaker 3: Oh it sounds like they're big break you know. They
- 44:06Speaker 3: found the matching size twenty shoe.
- 44:18Speaker 2: Those dogs were barking, please finish the story.
- 44:31Speaker 1: I don't know if I can't, all right. The victim's
- 44:36Speaker 1: son and his friends were at home when they said,
- 44:40Speaker 1: a person dressed as a clown rang the doorbell. He
- 44:43Speaker 1: said that when his mom answered, the clown handed her
