The year 1993 was very special, not only regarding the Eurovision but for the world in general and the Balkan region of Europe in particular. Yugoslavia was splitting up into new independent nations, and the Soviet Union had recently done the same. Many of these new nations wanted to join the Eurovision, and the group Put selected to represent Croatia consisted of six young people from a choir in Rijeka.
