- 0:31What's going on, everybody?
- 0:33Welcome to Lunch with the Clydesdale.
- 0:36Just made that opening this morning.
- 0:39Pretty happy with it.
- 0:40I think it's kind of funny, but anyway.
- 0:43We are here with our new
- 0:45daily show lunch with the Clydesdale.
- 0:49This is just an all topic
- 0:51kind of thing that we're
- 0:52going to start doing just a
- 0:54way to kind of on my lunch hour,
- 0:56hop in here,
- 0:58see my friends like Corey I
- 0:59see over there I see Jody Lynn I see ACR.
- 1:03Awesome stuff so.
- 1:06I'm going to kick off today
- 1:07with last night was another Bears loss.
- 1:12Eight in a row now.
- 1:13The Bears have suffered eight in a row.
- 1:17Oh, my gosh.
- 1:18I don't know how I'm doing this,
- 1:20but there's a picture going
- 1:21around on the Internet of Caleb Williams,
- 1:24and it depicts exactly,
- 1:27exactly how I feel as a Bears fan.
- 1:31And it looks like this.
- 1:36This was right after Caleb
- 1:38had scrambled a lot, jumped in the air,
- 1:41threw the ball back across the field.
- 1:44And while midair got just
- 1:45T-boned by a defensive end
- 1:48right in the gut.
- 1:50And when he got to the sidelines,
- 1:53he couldn't even sit up straight.
- 1:54It was so bad.
- 1:57uh this kid first rookie
- 1:59you're getting beat up like
- 2:00he's getting beat up and to
- 2:01keep getting up and giving
- 2:03a hundred and ten percent
- 2:05um I I gotta respect that
- 2:07immensely um so so stoked
- 2:11uh for that but um but yeah
- 2:14I hope he just survives the
- 2:15rest of the season uh it
- 2:17was an embarrassment we
- 2:19scored a touchdown that was uh just
- 2:23ripped off the board because
- 2:25the fullback that came into
- 2:27the game didn't report as
- 2:28eligible so that got taken
- 2:30out um crazy crazy stuff we
- 2:34just can't get out of our
- 2:34own way with chicago bears
- 2:36it is just horrendous um so
- 2:42with that the bears are the
- 2:45bears we're gonna be
- 2:46looking for a new coach
- 2:48And hopefully that can help
- 2:51what's going on.
- 2:53Judy, nice to see you.
- 2:56CK Kevin, nice to see you as well.
- 3:00Yeah,
- 3:00Corey did awesome at Legends this
- 3:02weekend.
- 3:05So pumped to see someone I
- 3:07consider to be a really
- 3:07good friend out there
- 3:08competing at the elite
- 3:10level of the Masters world.
- 3:12And as he reminds me all the time,
- 3:15he did beat Jason Grubb in a workout,
- 3:17and I see he has mentioned
- 3:18that in the chat.
- 3:20So we just want to congratulate him.
- 3:23And I think the coolest thing is he learns,
- 3:25right?
- 3:27I think he only has like two
- 3:28more years in this division
- 3:29then he gets to age up and
- 3:31then he can make a true run
- 3:32for like maybe a crossfit
- 3:34games appearance that'd be
- 3:35super awesome so um and he
- 3:39can correct me he's in the
- 3:40he's in the chat but I I
- 3:42think he has like two more
- 3:43years in this division and
- 3:44then he ages up as he said
- 3:49it is his win for the weekend yes awesome
- 3:56so um before we get into too
- 3:58much of the new stuff I I
- 3:59did want to correct a
- 4:00couple things that have
- 4:01happened in the last couple
- 4:02days um on sunday night
- 4:05crossfit talk we talked
- 4:06about the if-three uh and I
- 4:08made a statement in that um
- 4:11in that show that the
- 4:13if-three the streaming
- 4:15number seemed to be less
- 4:16than what brian friend got
- 4:18when he was streaming
- 4:19different competitions around europe um
- 4:22In all in to let you know
- 4:24where I got that from is I
- 4:26peeked in a couple times I
- 4:27looked at the live streaming numbers.
- 4:29They didn't look awesome,
- 4:31but I was sent a text last
- 4:33night with updated
- 4:35streaming numbers for if three,
- 4:38and they actually were
- 4:38really really good.
- 4:40Um,
- 4:43Day one had fifty four thousand streams.
- 4:46Day two had thirty two
- 4:47thousand streams and day
- 4:49three had thirty seven thousand streams.
- 4:53And it seems like they seem
- 4:55to peak out more in the, in I have three,
- 4:58the team like country versus country.
- 5:01Sweden versus Norway was a
- 5:03big rivalry according to,
- 5:05and this all came from Patrick Clark,
- 5:08who was there at the event.
- 5:10That's when the stream
- 5:10numbers seem to peak out is
- 5:13during those kind of
- 5:15rivalry country versus
- 5:16country things at the I have three.
- 5:20So so maybe I have three is
- 5:23a good starting point with
- 5:25some of this CrossFit stuff
- 5:26internationally as they are attempting.
- 5:30And I've got a lot of comments about this.
- 5:33They are not yet part of the
- 5:35Olympic group.
- 5:37They are just trying to hold
- 5:40the different standards as
- 5:41an organization to
- 5:42eventually get functional
- 5:44fitness as an Olympic sport.
- 5:47um and so that is their goal
- 5:49is to make it an olympic
- 5:51sport uh where it can grow
- 5:54um internationally that way
- 5:56so um just to update those
- 5:58numbers day one fifty four
- 5:59thousand day two thirty two
- 6:01thousand day three thirty
- 6:02seven thousand streams uh for that so
- 6:07I did want to correct that
- 6:08from Sunday night show
- 6:11where we talked about the
- 6:12IF-III a little bit and the
- 6:13leaderboards and stuff like that.
- 6:16So just wanted to make sure
- 6:18I corrected all of that.
- 6:22Aaron Frazier asks,
- 6:23do they have the same
- 6:24events at every comp?
- 6:26So it's not necessarily the same events,
- 6:28but it is the structure.
- 6:31Like they have a monostructural event.
- 6:33Now that monostructural
- 6:34event may change from
- 6:36competition to competition.
- 6:38Then they have a couplet.
- 6:42And I don't know what they all are exactly,
- 6:44but there are...
- 6:46There is an event that is
- 6:48labeled as this and it is at every event,
- 6:52but the event itself can
- 6:53change as long as it meets
- 6:55the requirements for
- 6:56whatever that topic is,
- 6:59if it makes sense.
- 7:01No, Judy, this is not Will Morad's thing.
- 7:03The IF-III has been around
- 7:06for probably five or six years now.
- 7:09Gretchen Kittleberger and
- 7:11some people started this a
- 7:12little while back.
- 7:14And it was just a way to get
- 7:16functional fitness into the
- 7:17Olympic Games.
- 7:19And so it has to be
- 7:20structured in a way that is less...
- 7:24unknown and unknowable um
- 7:26they could not use the
- 7:27crossfit name back then
- 7:28when they started it so
- 7:29they came up with the
- 7:30international functional
- 7:31fitness federation I think
- 7:35is what it is and then um
- 7:37and then they've created
- 7:38this and they've they're
- 7:40starting to like get into
- 7:41colleges and universities
- 7:43here in the states but it's
- 7:44really big internationally
- 7:46some countries recognize it as
- 7:50As a national sport.
- 7:52So Norway is one of those.
- 7:54And you'll see at these events,
- 7:55Norway takes a lot of athletes.
- 7:59Past world champions.
- 8:07And the athletes actually
- 8:15get a stipend just like we
- 8:17would here for an Olympic sport.
- 8:20Yes, Jason CrossFit, Jason CF,
- 8:23it's not CrossFit,
- 8:24Jason CF actually covered
- 8:26the event and did some pre
- 8:28and post stuff for that as well.
- 8:31So Jason's awesome.
- 8:34Go check his channel out whenever you,
- 8:36whenever you need to.
- 8:42Ken Walters.
- 8:43What's up, buddy?
- 8:45CrossFit in its current
- 8:46state is just too hard for
- 8:48a common viewer to
- 8:48understand as an Olympic
- 8:49sport and rules around it.
- 8:51Right.
- 8:53And there has to be some
- 8:54uniformity to it to make it
- 8:55as an Olympic sport.
- 8:56So that's what this group is doing.
- 9:01And it appears like it is
- 9:02really growing well internationally,
- 9:06in Europe especially,
- 9:08where countries have
- 9:09recognized it as a national
- 9:11sport and giving a stipend
- 9:13to the athletes.
- 9:16So I glitched for a minute,
- 9:19says Jay Birch.
- 9:20So all the readings on my side are good,
- 9:22so hopefully it stays that way.
- 9:27But yeah,
- 9:30they did broadcast all three days.
- 9:32They're still available out
- 9:33on YouTube if you want to
- 9:33go take a look at it.
- 9:35I'm sure they explain things
- 9:38better than I could as they
- 9:40are involved with it day to
- 9:42day over there.
- 9:44So hopefully that goes well for them.
- 9:48The next thing I want to
- 9:49talk about yesterday,
- 9:49I talked a little bit about, um, uh,
- 9:58Ken says, uh,
- 9:59but isn't the known and
- 10:00unknowable and constantly varied removed.
- 10:02It is, um,
- 10:03it is almost completely in this
- 10:05event as it is structured.
- 10:08Um,
- 10:10And I do believe the
- 10:11athletes know what the
- 10:12workouts are for each
- 10:13category before they go to the event.
- 10:18So, yeah, it is completely removed.
- 10:20And I think it has to be
- 10:21that way for the Olympics.
- 10:27So, okay.
- 10:28So yesterday I talked a
- 10:28little bit about the
- 10:29college football event.
- 10:31world and the transfer
- 10:32portal and how I was upset
- 10:34that my my penn state team
- 10:37finally makes it to the
- 10:38college football playoffs
- 10:40and one of the key members
- 10:41of their offense is going
- 10:43into the transfer portal
- 10:44and therefore could not
- 10:45compete with the team
- 10:46throughout the college
- 10:47football playoffs I learned
- 10:49later that just because you
- 10:51enter the portal doesn't
- 10:52mean you have to leave your
- 10:53current team you just you
- 10:54can stay with them until
- 10:55you sign with a new team however
- 10:59In this case,
- 11:01Penn State has a rule that if
- 11:02you enter the transfer portal,
- 11:03you are off the team.
- 11:06James Franklin was going to
- 11:07make an exception for Bo Pribula,
- 11:11the backup quarterback who
- 11:12is entering the transfer portal.
- 11:14But when they tried it out,
- 11:16they tried to do practice
- 11:19and allow him to look at
- 11:21other options around the
- 11:23world for him to be a
- 11:25starter and quarterback at
- 11:26another location.
- 11:28There was too much
- 11:29distraction and they both
- 11:31felt like it would be
- 11:32better if he left the team
- 11:33now and wasn't that
- 11:35distraction while looking
- 11:37for a new school to attend.
- 11:40It's such a shame.
- 11:41I wish they would move the
- 11:43transfer portal window and
- 11:45not let it start until
- 11:47after the college football
- 11:48playoff is done.
- 11:49It is crazy.
- 11:53It's crazy that this overlap is happening.
- 11:55Marshall had to withdraw
- 11:57from their bowl game
- 11:58because so many kids
- 11:59entered the transfer portal
- 12:00because of the coaching
- 12:01change that they didn't
- 12:03even have enough players or
- 12:04a quarterback to attend the bowl game.
- 12:08If college for this is the
- 12:10most important time right the playoffs,
- 12:12and you're letting players
- 12:15leave through the portal
- 12:17and teams don't even have
- 12:19what got them to the
- 12:21playoffs to use during the
- 12:22playoffs because of the way it works,
- 12:24and they really need to
- 12:25like change those dates
- 12:27somehow because it is.
- 12:29It is ridiculous,
- 12:30and I know that it's
- 12:31affecting my team and not
- 12:32many of the others,
- 12:34but as a Penn State fan,
- 12:36we have been waiting to get
- 12:37into the college football
- 12:38playoff for years.
- 12:40We have been the fifth team
- 12:41in a four-team playoffs
- 12:42twice in the last six or seven years,
- 12:46and we're finally in the
- 12:47college football playoff,
- 12:48and we don't even get to
- 12:49take a guy who contributed
- 12:51almost six hundred yards of offense away.
- 12:53uh to our team this year uh
- 12:55because he's entered the
- 12:56transfer portal and that
- 12:57really sucks just point out
- 13:01uh uh aaron friger says I
- 13:06don't like the transfer
- 13:07portal uh I don't it's fine
- 13:10for what it is it it's just
- 13:12where we are in in this age
- 13:14but it should not open
- 13:16until the season is
- 13:17complete that is my biggest
- 13:19grape with it right now
- 13:22I do think too many people
- 13:23are entering it and not
- 13:25enough players are finding new homes.
- 13:27You're learning that, you know,
- 13:29five hundred kids go into the portal,
- 13:31but only four hundred kids
- 13:32find a new home and the
- 13:33hundred just are out of luck.
- 13:36And I don't think they're
- 13:36aware of that enough of
- 13:40those things before
- 13:43entering or before leaving
- 13:45the school they are at.
- 13:49Ken Walter said they should
- 13:50never took out the one year
- 13:52set out transfer role when
- 13:53my son decommitted from the
- 13:55Gophers before freshman year, he was fine,
- 13:58but he waited a year.
- 13:59It would have,
- 14:00would have had to sit out one full year.
- 14:01I, I know it's,
- 14:05it's just becoming free
- 14:06agency like it is in the NFL.
- 14:10So there it is.
- 14:14uh and aaron yes caleb
- 14:16williams now has been
- 14:18sacked more than any bears
- 14:19quarterback in history he
- 14:21is still I think twenty
- 14:23sacks away from to david
- 14:26carr's record uh with the
- 14:29texans uh let's hope he
- 14:31doesn't reach that that's a
- 14:32record I do not want him to
- 14:34set in his rookie season
- 14:38But he's been sacked fifty
- 14:40eight or nine times.
- 14:42I'm trying to remember how
- 14:43many times he got sacked last night.
- 14:46And David Carr was seventy two,
- 14:49seventy two times.
- 14:50I think I saw yesterday on
- 14:52one of the shows.
- 14:54So, yeah,
- 14:54he's still a little bit away from that.
- 14:56Let's hope he doesn't get there, please.
- 14:59Lord,
- 15:00I wasn't sure he was going to survive
- 15:02last night.
- 15:07Corey Leonard said,
- 15:08I think he's talking about
- 15:09college football is
- 15:10straight up semi-pro league
- 15:11with homework involved now.
- 15:12I'm not even sure people are
- 15:14still required to do the homework.
- 15:17I know some schools,
- 15:18they do care about the academics,
- 15:21but it's going to get to a
- 15:22point where why?
- 15:24Why?
- 15:27I don't even know why.
- 15:28I guess we're just putting
- 15:29it on the backs of these
- 15:30colleges that people have
- 15:31been fans of for years.
- 15:33But really,
- 15:34it's just a semi-pro league
- 15:35just with the cloak of college football.
- 15:43Because a lot of these kids
- 15:44are there to make the NFL,
- 15:46not to get a degree anymore.
- 15:50So there's that.
- 15:54Some news that came in last night,
- 15:56the barbell spin reported
- 15:58that Emma Tall in a podcast
- 16:00that was released today has
- 16:02announced that she probably,
- 16:06probably will not do the
- 16:08twenty twenty five CrossFit game season.
- 16:11And when asked further what
- 16:14the reasoning behind that was,
- 16:16she stated it was a
- 16:17reaction CrossFit had to the P.F.A.A.
- 16:23Which was surprised.
- 16:26I was surprised to hear that
- 16:27was the reason.
- 16:30I kind of anticipated some European...
- 16:35um,
- 16:36athletes sitting out of the CrossFit
- 16:38game season, uh,
- 16:39because of what happened to
- 16:41Lazar and what happened at
- 16:42the games last year,
- 16:43Emma was one of those people who left, uh,
- 16:45after that incident happened.
- 16:48Um,
- 16:48I'm surprised that she stated it was a
- 16:50reaction to the PFAA.
- 16:53Um, but yeah,
- 16:56I guess that shows us that
- 16:57there are athletes that are
- 17:01in step with what the PFAA
- 17:03wants and what they want to do,
- 17:05and they are willing to sit
- 17:06out the season, probably.
- 17:10So it's going to be
- 17:10interesting to see who
- 17:11follows suit now that,
- 17:14because initially we just
- 17:15had Emma McQuaid as the
- 17:16only one who definitely
- 17:17said she was doing it.
- 17:20And now we're going to get
- 17:21other athletes making these
- 17:23announcements.
- 17:25But, you know,
- 17:26Pat Vellner and her have
- 17:28just said most likely or
- 17:31probably there's no
- 17:32definitiveness to any of
- 17:34what they're saying.
- 17:35And I get it.
- 17:36There's not a lot of details
- 17:37on anything for next season,
- 17:39whether it be the CrossFit
- 17:40game season or the WFP or,
- 17:45but Europe does have a lot of,
- 17:48bigger events with good
- 17:50prize purse where you can
- 17:51actually kind of make a
- 17:52living bouncing from country to country.
- 17:55And that's where I believe
- 17:56that the European athletes,
- 17:58we may have more people
- 17:59sitting out the season from
- 18:00Europe than we do, uh, any,
- 18:02anywhere here in this, in the States.
- 18:04But, um,
- 18:07but it's going to be
- 18:08interesting to see because
- 18:09now people are going to
- 18:10start being asked about
- 18:11that and they're going to
- 18:12start answering and we're
- 18:13going to get a list of
- 18:14who's in and who's out.
- 18:16And I think it'll give us a
- 18:17better tell as to what the
- 18:20upcoming season is going to look like.
- 18:25Corey,
- 18:25did anyone tell her the PFA has no
- 18:28real power and most likely never would?
- 18:30And if not, should I?
- 18:33I have my thoughts on the PFA.
- 18:34I've talked about it a lot.
- 18:36I don't know how they got
- 18:41appointed to be the
- 18:43representative of the athletes.
- 18:46I think they just stepped in
- 18:48and said they would be.
- 18:51And that's kind of been my question.
- 18:53I don't have any problem
- 18:54with an organization
- 18:55representing the athletes.
- 18:57I think that is fine.
- 18:59But I just don't know where
- 19:01the PFAA came from and what
- 19:05gave them the right to be
- 19:06the representative and how
- 19:09were they voted in?
- 19:10How were they picked?
- 19:12How were they given the
- 19:15right to be the representative?
- 19:20And so that's where I fall on this.
- 19:24I just don't get it.
- 19:27I'm a big fan of Brent Fikowski.
- 19:29I think he's a good dude.
- 19:31And I think his ideas are fine.
- 19:33But I think that maybe they
- 19:35took a step too far to
- 19:36think that they were.
- 19:38And now after the Lazar incident,
- 19:40they're trying to make sure
- 19:42that they are.
- 19:43And now that we're hearing
- 19:44that they have a vote,
- 19:45they have some things in
- 19:48place to put together.
- 19:51a board and executive board
- 19:54and things like that.
- 19:55But I think it all seems to
- 19:57be backwards to me.
- 20:01And maybe the, and I don't know,
- 20:02I've not talked to enough athlete.
- 20:03Maybe the athletes have picked them.
- 20:07But there's just some clues
- 20:08to me that show me that maybe it's not.
- 20:11And when you look at a board
- 20:13that was nine members and,
- 20:16all this has happened and
- 20:18now you have a new election
- 20:20for the new board and you
- 20:21go from nine to six were
- 20:23the choices limited because
- 20:26the six that ran all six
- 20:28got in so only six ran and
- 20:31you go from a board of nine
- 20:32to six that's not a good
- 20:34trend if you're trying to
- 20:35be the representative of
- 20:36the athletes you would think
- 20:38that as you're gaining
- 20:41momentum and power or whatever it is,
- 20:46or representation,
- 20:48that that board would grow
- 20:50or at least stay at nine.
- 20:54But again,
- 20:55I don't know enough from the
- 20:56athletes to know that they were voted in.
- 20:58Do the athletes feel that
- 20:59they are being represented by them?
- 21:03I just don't know.
- 21:10Aaron Frazier says wherever
- 21:11they decide to compete,
- 21:12will the standards for safety be better?
- 21:15No.
- 21:15Will the PFA have any power there?
- 21:16No.
- 21:16Gosh, I have thoughts there too,
- 21:20because I don't think that
- 21:21the PFAA has ever made a
- 21:23complaint about safety.
- 21:25Um, they have made complaints about, um,
- 21:28bar height, ring height, um, how many, um,
- 21:33how many risers you can use underneath,
- 21:36uh, the rig.
- 21:37Um,
- 21:39they had a list of ten
- 21:40complaints that they gave
- 21:41to CrossFit two years ago.
- 21:44CrossFit came back and did
- 21:45eight of them and said why
- 21:47they couldn't do the other two.
- 21:49So it's not – when they keep
- 21:51saying that CrossFit has
- 21:52never listened to them,
- 21:53that's a little bit of a
- 21:54misleading statement because they have.
- 22:00So, again,
- 22:03I don't think they've ever made safety –
- 22:08demands until after all this
- 22:10has happened uh james w the
- 22:13pfa stepped in because no
- 22:14one else has no one has the
- 22:16joy has to join the pfa if
- 22:18they want to be their own
- 22:19advocate it's not a union okay um
- 22:30James,
- 22:30the PFA has only been around for a
- 22:32couple of years and it's
- 22:32subject to incredible scrutiny.
- 22:34Yet the CrossFit Games have
- 22:35been around nearly twenty years.
- 22:37They're so incredibly
- 22:38unorganized and lack of professionalism.
- 22:40I cannot disagree with that statement.
- 22:44Not at all.
- 22:44I,
- 22:45I have been critical of the CrossFit
- 22:47games as well, that we, they,
- 22:50they cannot get their shit together.
- 22:51And we talked on Sunday night.
- 22:53If you want to go back and
- 22:54listen to that with the WFP
- 22:56for the first time in my
- 22:59fandom of being a CrossFit tour,
- 23:02CrossFitter, CrossFit athlete, whatever.
- 23:04That was two thousand eleven
- 23:06where I started CrossFit
- 23:07that we actually have a
- 23:08season structure that makes sense.
- 23:11And it's not from the CrossFit games.
- 23:12It's from the WFP.
- 23:15Um, so I can't agree.
- 23:19I cannot agree more that
- 23:20there's lack of
- 23:22organization and
- 23:23professionalism that leads
- 23:24to the CrossFit games open, uh,
- 23:26that athletes should have representation.
- 23:32Um, Corey says, James, there's been a CAC.
- 23:35Well, see, uh,
- 23:38I guess well before the PFA
- 23:40the PFA asked for them to
- 23:41be done away with then when
- 23:42the PFA started making
- 23:43ridiculous demands Yeah And
- 23:50I agree with you James here
- 23:52it is different the CAC is
- 23:53internal PFA is independent
- 23:56and that it's I'd have to
- 24:00see how the this the CAC
- 24:02was developed and what the
- 24:04rules behind that were and
- 24:08but I agree with you.
- 24:09It is better to have an
- 24:10independent representative
- 24:11than someone internal.
- 24:13Um, if the CAC is internal, um,
- 24:20So anyway,
- 24:21I didn't mean to go down that road,
- 24:23but we're going to be going
- 24:24down that road because more
- 24:25athletes are going to
- 24:26declare which way they're going,
- 24:29which side they stand on.
- 24:31And I hate that there's
- 24:32division in CrossFit
- 24:33because I love this sport so much,
- 24:35and I don't think we can
- 24:37survive too much division.
- 24:44Okay.
- 24:45And that is one thing that I
- 24:47have said about the PFAA.
- 24:49They do not cover all athletes.
- 24:50They just cover what they
- 24:52deem to be the elite
- 24:53athletes of the group,
- 24:55which is CrossFit Games
- 24:57athletes or semifinal
- 25:00one-person-out athletes.
- 25:07So I didn't mean to go down that road.
- 25:11We have CrossFit shows for that.
- 25:13This is just like,
- 25:15appetizers of crossfit with
- 25:17some other stuff around the
- 25:18world but um but yeah and
- 25:22I'm sure that we're going
- 25:23to be talking about this
- 25:24sunday night on the
- 25:25crossfit talk show uh the
- 25:26round table on thursday
- 25:27we'll probably talk about
- 25:28this uh as emma is just
- 25:30probably the first in line
- 25:31that will start uh making
- 25:33this announcement and we'll
- 25:34talk about those things
- 25:37And the nice thing about the
- 25:38CrossFit Talk Show is we
- 25:39have athletes on that show
- 25:41that can give their
- 25:44perspective because I am not an athlete.
- 25:46They are,
- 25:47and they have a different
- 25:48perspective than I do for sure.
- 25:53The last thing I had on my
- 25:54list is for those of you who –
- 26:03I think it was a year ago,
- 26:04the CrossFit Games came out
- 26:05with a new logo.
- 26:11And that was that it was the
- 26:14new logo with the Shield CrossFit Games.
- 26:18And we really, really attacked that.
- 26:23And that it looked like a
- 26:24kindergartner kind of put that together.
- 26:26But I saw a logo that got
- 26:30redone this week.
- 26:32Um,
- 26:33that just blew me away about how bad
- 26:37these people are that get
- 26:38hired to create logos for, for companies.
- 26:42Uh, and so WWE is moving raw,
- 26:49I think from USA network to
- 26:53Netflix and that's
- 26:55happening in a week or two.
- 26:57Um,
- 26:58And so they developed a new
- 27:00logo to go from USA to Netflix.
- 27:07And here is the logo that
- 27:08they came up with.
- 27:10So I'm going to blow this up here.
- 27:16So the Raw logo above has
- 27:19been the Raw logo for a while.
- 27:21But they put live on Netflix below it.
- 27:25And I swear to God that
- 27:27these are just templated
- 27:29things that you can get on Canva.
- 27:31And someone just dropped the live picture,
- 27:35a text box of on and the
- 27:37Netflix picture right below raw.
- 27:39It could not have been more
- 27:43than like a fifteen second
- 27:46job to make this logo.
- 27:50And we use Canva to make all
- 27:51of our thumbnails, all of our backgrounds,
- 27:53all of our stuff.
- 27:54Like, what the hell?
- 27:57How do I get this job?
- 28:01But my gosh, that is, like,
- 28:05I'm blown away.
- 28:06I'm blown away that someone
- 28:07got paid to make this logo.
- 28:11it is ridiculous you take
- 28:13the existing logo and you
- 28:15put live on netflix below
- 28:16it and now you have a new
- 28:18logo and that's that's your
- 28:19job uh corey says the w is
- 28:25actually a straight up
- 28:26upside down m yeah I'm not
- 28:28even getting into the
- 28:29original logo that was made
- 28:31that that's pretty
- 28:32simplistic as well um but
- 28:35that is the logo that's
- 28:36been there's for a while this raw
- 28:39But the live on Netflix below here,
- 28:42this live, I have used it.
- 28:44It is a templated picture in
- 28:46Canva and you can get the
- 28:48Netflix logo there too.
- 28:50And then you just put a text
- 28:52box of on in between the
- 28:53two and you've got a logo.
- 28:57What the hell?
- 28:59Like I, oh my gosh.
- 29:02And I thought the CrossFit
- 29:03Games logo was bad.
- 29:08So anyway, yeah,
- 29:10just something that hit me
- 29:12that I wanted to talk about
- 29:14and vent about, I guess, on here.
- 29:16So what is for lunch?
- 29:20Gosh,
- 29:23I have some chicken pad thai that I
- 29:26need to heat up.
- 29:27I think that's what I'm having today.
- 29:33Ken Walters is having ribeye,
- 29:36sweet potatoes, and farro.
- 29:42um clock was asking what was
- 29:44the statement that um and I
- 29:47think he got the answer
- 29:50she's probably not doing
- 29:51the open that is correct
- 29:55and aaron fisher I do agree
- 29:57we are all athletes but
- 29:58some of us are at a level
- 29:59where we could actually
- 30:00compete at the games uh and
- 30:03other of us are just dreaming that
- 30:06maybe in another life.
- 30:08Uh, and I am in, and I am that, uh,
- 30:10dreaming in another life, uh,
- 30:13where Carolyn Prevo has
- 30:14been there three times.
- 30:15Jamie Latimer has competed
- 30:17at the masters games.
- 30:19Uh, I have not, uh, uh,
- 30:30Ken Walters,
- 30:30I'm envious how technology
- 30:32would have saved me days, months,
- 30:33years of work during my career.
- 30:36If you can't succeed now,
- 30:37you have zero shot.
- 30:41Correct.
- 30:47Corey Leonard said on the raw logo,
- 30:49here's something even better to consider.
- 30:53This is the one they went with.
- 30:54They had options and this is
- 30:55the direction they chose.
- 30:58I know, I know.
- 31:03Holly,
- 31:04how many meetings and emails were
- 31:05there to okay that?
- 31:08Amen, sister.
- 31:09Amen.
- 31:10God, I hate meetings.
- 31:12I hate meetings so bad.
- 31:13So many of them are such a waste.
- 31:16They could have been an
- 31:16email and my life is full
- 31:19of useless meetings and I
- 31:23try to avoid them at all costs.
- 31:25And if I'm ever put in a
- 31:26leadership role and when I
- 31:27am put in a leadership role,
- 31:30I minimize meetings and
- 31:31they are usually fifteen
- 31:33minutes tops because let's
- 31:35cut the BS and just get through it.
- 31:41This meeting could have been
- 31:42a fist fight or a wrestling match.
- 31:44Just saying, Corey.
- 31:47Got to go with the subject
- 31:48you're dealing with here.
- 31:51Ken Walters, man,
- 31:51I saw your back squat the other day.
- 31:54Man, nice mobility.
- 31:56Good hip.
- 31:57Man, you were down there deep.
- 32:00That was cool to watch the other day.
- 32:01So how'd that thousand pound challenge go?
- 32:12um and then this pharaoh I
- 32:17don't even know what
- 32:18pharaoh is jay birch says
- 32:23remind me what you do for
- 32:24the state of ohio so my
- 32:28current job so what I did
- 32:30for most of my career while
- 32:31there is I was ahead I was
- 32:33the head of their training department
- 32:36I trained trainers to go out
- 32:39and train on different
- 32:41program aspects around the state.
- 32:45I took a step back from that in
- 32:53just wanted to reduce my
- 32:54travel down some things like that.
- 32:55And I am now, uh, I'm a tester.
- 33:00It's the best way to put it.
- 33:02When we make changes to our system, uh,
- 33:04I am the guy with the program knowledge,
- 33:07uh,
- 33:07because I've trained so many different
- 33:08aspects of it that I, uh,
- 33:13I train, because I did all that,
- 33:16I test the system to make
- 33:18sure it works correctly
- 33:20before it goes live.
- 33:21So in the testing environment,
- 33:23I go in and I run the
- 33:25system through everything
- 33:26to make sure nothing is broken.
- 33:28And then I report what is broken.
- 33:30And then I monitor the fixes.
- 33:32And then once it's fixed,
- 33:34then I give it the okay
- 33:35that they can release it
- 33:36into the production environment.
- 33:41So.
- 33:46Pharaoh is like a bigger
- 33:48rice grain-esque grain, I think,
- 33:50but with a sweeter taste
- 33:52and a texture close to a noodle.
- 33:58I might have to give that a shot.
- 34:00Sounds good.
- 34:03I know Holly works for state
- 34:05government as well.
- 34:06So hooray, state government.
- 34:10And Jay Birch says he's coming.
- 34:11I think he's coming for Ken
- 34:13when he gets his rack done.
- 34:16Gosh, I love back squatting.
- 34:18That is my jam.
- 34:21My jam.
- 34:27And so when I, so this was bench, bench,
- 34:36back squat, and deadlift.
- 34:37Deadlift.
- 34:39Nice.
- 34:40He hit a thousand pounds.
- 34:42Exactly.
- 34:42Two seventy five bench three
- 34:44twenty back squat four or five deadlift.
- 34:46All good.
- 34:47But deadlift got no ripped
- 34:49as we had a brain fart.
- 34:50Judge said good lift on deadlift.
- 34:52I dropped it and didn't
- 34:53control on the way down.
- 34:55Redoing Saturday.
- 35:00Deadlift is my weak spot.
- 35:04I have squatted almost five.
- 35:09Uh, my,
- 35:10my best back squat just a couple of
- 35:12years ago was four eighty.
- 35:15Um,
- 35:16but my deadlift is so bad because of my
- 35:18back.
- 35:19Um,
- 35:21a four or five deadlift would be a
- 35:23struggle for me right now.
- 35:27Hell, anytime.
- 35:28And then the bench I'm okay with.
- 35:32Um, it's,
- 35:35I,
- 35:36my goal was to CrossFit total a thousand,
- 35:39uh, with the strict press.
- 35:42Um, my strict pass is two,
- 35:45so that takes a lot off my bench.
- 35:47Uh,
- 35:47and then it's all about the deadlift
- 35:49and what I can get in that day.
- 35:51Um, so yeah.
- 35:59Uh, I, yeah, I think I'd love to,
- 36:03to achieve that goal again
- 36:05and hopefully I can get there soon,
- 36:06but to be able to a thousand pound,
- 36:08the CrossFit total, uh,
- 36:10was something the bench
- 36:12helps me out a lot in the,
- 36:13in the regular thousand with rogue.
- 36:16Um, but yeah, my deadlift is so, so weak.
- 36:22Um, but anyway,
- 36:26Well,
- 36:26that's all I have on my lineup for today.
- 36:29If you guys don't have anything to add, um,
- 36:33we'll call it a day.
- 36:35It's been awesome having
- 36:36lunch with you guys.
- 36:38Um, love learning about you guys.
- 36:40Yesterday we learned about Holly and, uh,
- 36:44Jay Birch's postgraduate
- 36:46degree doctorates.
- 36:48Today we learned about Ken's beast mode,
- 36:52thousand pounds.
- 36:55Kenneth, yes,
- 36:56I've watched the Reacher trailer.
- 36:58It looks really good.
- 37:01I'm excited for that.
- 37:02I finished so many shows in
- 37:04this last week that over the holidays,
- 37:07I got to find something to watch.
- 37:09I finished a lioness season two.
- 37:11I finished shrinking season two.
- 37:13Maybe we'll talk about that
- 37:14a little bit tomorrow.
- 37:17I have some thoughts on those.
- 37:20And tomorrow we will learn
- 37:24about Corey's mom.
- 37:26Oh, speaking of tomorrow,
- 37:27tomorrow is my wife's birthday.
- 37:30And tonight I am taking her
- 37:31out for one of our favorite
- 37:34restaurants in Delaware, Ohio,
- 37:36is having a cocktail,
- 37:40a holiday cocktail tasting.
- 37:42And so that is one of her
- 37:44big birthday gifts for the week.
- 37:47And that is we're going to
- 37:48go up there for a course meal.
- 37:50With each course,
- 37:51we get a holiday cocktail tasting,
- 37:54which is interesting since
- 37:55I have quit drinking this year.
- 37:57Um,
- 37:57but I can be a designated driver and
- 37:59she can enjoy, uh, but it is, uh,
- 38:02it's going to be fun.
- 38:03It is not Thurman's Judy.
- 38:05It is, uh, the backstretch,
- 38:07which is a really nice, uh,
- 38:12It looks like a dive,
- 38:13but it's a really nice
- 38:16chef-run kitchen where the
- 38:18food is exceptional.
- 38:19You just wouldn't ever think
- 38:21of it being that way.
- 38:23And Backstretch is one of our favorites.
- 38:26What I love is as a side,
- 38:29a garnish on your plate,
- 38:31they always give you a deviled egg.
- 38:33And I love deviled eggs.
- 38:35Instead of a pickle or something like that,
- 38:38it's so good.
- 38:42But yeah, they make amazing food.
- 38:44And the menu is already pre-done.
- 38:48You just show up, you sit down,
- 38:49and they bring you the courses.
- 38:51The main course is Steak Oscar,
- 38:54which is steak with Bearnaise sauce,
- 38:56crab meat, and asparagus.
- 39:00So super stoked about that.
- 39:02But yeah,
- 39:03with every course we get a
- 39:04holiday cocktail to taste
- 39:07and we're going with two friends.
- 39:11So we're going to have a
- 39:11great time tonight for her birthday.
- 39:13Tomorrow is her birthday.
- 39:14So we'll be celebrating that tomorrow,
- 39:16but she's working for sure.
- 39:20But yeah,
- 39:21so stoked to be able to spend the
- 39:23night with her tonight and
- 39:24do all that and do
- 39:25something fun outside the
- 39:26boxes that we normally do.
- 39:28Ken,
- 39:28I know you're saying Hyde Park in
- 39:30Columbus, Seafood Tower, phenomenal.
- 39:34So I am actually allergic to shrimp.
- 39:36So I don't get to take part
- 39:37in all the fun seafood stuff.
- 39:39And I've heard that Hyde Park is amazing.
- 39:45I have not been.
- 39:46I've been to Mitchell's here in town.
- 39:50And Mitchell's has a lot of
- 39:51really nice high-end restaurants.
- 39:53The Ocean Club, which is seafood,
- 39:56of course.
- 39:58Marcella's,
- 40:00which is an Italian small plate
- 40:03food joint.
- 40:05They have Cap City Diner,
- 40:07which is diner fare done at
- 40:09a higher level.
- 40:10And I take a lot of people
- 40:12to that when they come into town.
- 40:14But I've not been to Hyde Park.
- 40:15So that might be something
- 40:17we have to do in the coming years.
- 40:26Jay Birch says Pharaoh is a
