- 0:00All life, our entire existence, whether we are actively involved
- 0:06in a conscious spiritual discipline or living a normal
- 0:10life in the world, following the demands of our needs, desires,
- 0:15relationships and ambitions, et cetera, is a field of growth,
- 0:20experience and development. We respond to opportunities,
- 0:26pressures and difficulties, and as we do so, some part of our
- 0:31being gathers that experience and grows through the process.
- 0:36This may be seen as a yoga of nature which slowly builds up
- 0:41the various capacities and powers of each aspect of the
- 0:44being and creates A maturation process that over time and
- 0:50possibly over many lifetimes, brings about a higher level of
- 0:55awareness and consciousness in the responses and the actions of
- 0:59the individual. For the spiritual seeker, the
- 1:04same process remains at work, with the added factor of the
- 1:08seeker being able to both observe and facilitate the
- 1:12process to speed up the long time frame and thereby bring
- 1:18about growth of consciousness much more effectively and
- 1:21swiftly than the process of nature.
- 1:25This is the field of experience the trioro bindo refers to.
- 1:31It is the process by which nature, or the conscious
- 1:34evolutionary focus of yoga, challenges the external being,
- 1:39the body, life and mind to develop, grow and transform.
- 1:47An entirely different process begins to take place as the
- 1:50seeker is able to shift the standpoint to the Divine
- 1:53standpoint. At some point the individual
- 1:57becomes first a conscious instrument manifesting the
- 2:01divine intention to a greater or lesser degree, and then later,
- 2:06when the ego sheath has been fully dissolved, he becomes
- 2:09simply an expression of the divine action in the world.
- 2:15Shriorbindo notes quote Work can be of two kinds, the work that
- 2:21is a field of experience used for the sadhna, for a
- 2:24progressive harmonization and transformation of the being in
- 2:28its activities, and work that is a realized expression of the
- 2:32Divine. But the time for the latter can
- 2:37be only when the realization has been fully brought down into the
- 2:40earth consciousness. Till then all work must be a
- 2:45field of endeavour and a school of experience.
- 2:50We must find the Self, the Divine.
- 2:53Then only can we know what is the work, the Self or the Divine
- 2:56demands from us. Until then, our life and action
- 3:01can only be a help or means towards finding the Divine, and
- 3:07it ought not to have any other purpose.
- 3:10As we grow in the inner consciousness, or as the
- 3:14spiritual truth of the Divine grows in us, our life and action
- 3:18must indeed more and more flow from that.
- 3:22Be one with that. But to decide beforehand, by our
- 3:26limited mental conception, what they must be is to hamper the
- 3:31growth of the spiritual truth within.
