- 0:32
Welcome back, God bless everybody and.
- 0:35
Amen. It's been a while, yeah.
- 0:38
Yeah, no. And thanks to all those that
- 0:40
have been listening and for those new people, thank you so
- 0:45
much for joining us. And before we always start, we.
- 0:50
Always pray so Amen. Do you want to pray or do you?
- 0:54
No, I'll do you. OK.
- 0:57
Thank you, Father, for this opportunity.
- 1:00
Every time we read your word, you reveal to us greater wisdom
- 1:08
and it's it shakes us, but in a good way because it's always on
- 1:12
the pursuit to do the best that we can for you, having faith in
- 1:16
you, right, because it's what it takes to believe.
- 1:21
I know all those listening, tuning in also share the
- 1:26
message, the wisdom that you hear here and you gather also
- 1:29
share with do not be afraid, be bold.
- 1:32
We're all brothers and sisters in Christ.
- 1:35
And we thank you, father, for this opportunity.
- 1:37
May your presence be here and what we speak about can be a
- 1:41
notification to those listening to this podcast.
- 1:44
Amen. Amen.
- 1:47
All right, so I know last time we finished with the book of
- 1:51
John. Yes, first John, all of it.
- 1:54
All of it, yeah. Because we're doing like a
- 1:57
series of of, of, of John now. The last time was of James.
- 2:02
That's great, yeah. Nah, man, once I honestly, like,
- 2:08
I think you've said it before, but I think just reading first
- 2:11
John, like all the chapters, if someone were to just have that,
- 2:16
just have that part, like just the book of John, like first
- 2:19
John, dude, I think that's all you pretty much need.
- 2:22
Yeah, in the aspect of like, like the fundament, like the
- 2:26
foundation. Yeah, he does speak about.
- 2:29
He keeps reminding them, right, Of certain things.
- 2:33
Yeah. So it's implying that they will
- 2:38
hear the words that they heard from Christ.
- 2:41
Yeah. So like, there's nothing wrong
- 2:46
with theology or none of that. You can study that or whatever
- 2:49
you want to do, but the gospel itself is like more than enough.
- 2:54
No, you're right. Absolutely.
- 2:56
And and so reading all the parts of the book of the Bible is
- 3:00
great. Yeah.
- 3:02
You learn more, you understand the commandments more and a much
- 3:05
greater, you know, understanding.
- 3:08
So it is important. Yeah, you're right.
- 3:11
You could literally just read this and and already believe.
- 3:16
Yeah, yeah. No, absolutely.
- 3:17
Because. It quite it requires belief, you
- 3:19
know. Yes, faith, always faith.
- 3:23
Faith is what helps us overcome everything.
- 3:26
Exactly. So yeah.
- 3:28
So today we're going to read Second John.
- 3:31
I don't know how long this podcast is going to be, but it
- 3:33
could be either short or long. But we're going to read because
- 3:37
Second John is a very it's just one chapter, right?
- 3:40
Yeah, it is 1 chapter but it's deep.
- 3:43
It is very deep, so if you want I can read or you can read, it
- 3:48
doesn't matter. Alright, so this is what it
- 3:51
says. The elder to the elect lady and
- 3:55
her children whom I love in the truth.
- 3:57
And not only I, but also all who know the truth because of the
- 4:02
truth that remains in US and will be with us forever.
- 4:06
Grace, mercy and peace will be with us from God the Father and
- 4:12
from Jesus Christ the Son of the Father in truth and love.
- 4:18
I was very glad to find some of your children walking in truth
- 4:23
and keeping with a command we have received from the Father.
- 4:27
So now I ask you, dear lady, not as if I were writing you a new
- 4:33
command, but one we have had from the beginning, that we love
- 4:38
one another. This is love that we walk
- 4:41
according to His commands. This is the command as you have
- 4:45
heard it from the beginning, that you walk in love.
- 4:50
Many deceivers have gone out into the world.
- 4:54
They do not confess the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh.
- 4:57
This is the deceiver and the Antichrist.
- 5:01
Watch yourselves so that you don't lose what we have worked
- 5:05
for, but that you may receive a full reward.
- 5:10
Anyone who does not remain in Christ's teachings but goes
- 5:14
beyond it does not have God the one who remains in that
- 5:18
teaching. This one has both the Father and
- 5:23
the Son. If anyone comes to you and does
- 5:26
not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your home, and
- 5:31
do not greet him, for the one who greets him shares in his
- 5:35
evil works. Though I have many things to
- 5:38
write to you, I don't want to use paper and ink.
- 5:42
Instead, I hope to come to you and talk face to face so that
- 5:46
our joy may be complete. The children of your elect
- 5:50
sister send you greetings. All right.
- 5:57
Pretty much. Second John is like a summary of
- 6:02
First John, right? Well.
- 6:05
This, this is, this is it's tricky because second John,
- 6:10
first John, there's just John, the letter of John.
- 6:13
Right. Letters, yeah.
- 6:15
I believe we're the ones who. Put numbers into it right?
- 6:19
Second John, because there were letters, right?
- 6:21
He literally says that I do not want to continue writing to you.
- 6:24
I want to hope to be there face to face.
- 6:28
Absolutely. So they speculate that it was
- 6:30
the Church of Ephesus, the the pistol that Paul wrote to
- 6:34
Ephesus. And so so, yeah, I mean, he, I
- 6:39
would say that this is, this could even be first John and
- 6:42
then the other one could be right.
- 6:44
They're just put in order. First John, second John, third
- 6:46
John. Yeah.
- 6:46
But real order I, I would say this would be, this would be it
- 6:54
to be first, if you will. But I think the interesting part
- 6:59
here, it's a small chapter, but really the the beginning is just
- 7:03
he's speaking to the leader of the church or the church, right?
- 7:07
He's referred as a lady as he does at the end here.
- 7:11
But I think the the good stuff here really starts on verse 7.
- 7:19
Many deceivers, right? Because what he speaks about in
- 7:22
the beginning from one through 6 is pretty much like a recall,
- 7:25
yeah, of the first John or, you know, but I think the, no, I
- 7:31
don't think I know it's right there.
- 7:33
It starts at 7, verse 7. That's where he then gets really
- 7:39
specific to certain things that is happening to some believers
- 7:45
at the church, in the church. Yeah.
- 7:48
Yeah, so it seems like this is the deceiver and the Antichrist,
- 7:51
so the one. So I'm guessing that not many
- 7:54
people within the churches were talking about Christ, right?
- 7:58
Like the return of him, right? They do believe in him, right?
- 8:01
It's like it was a it was a weird time because like here,
- 8:05
let me give you perspective. Christ had just died a couple
- 8:10
years ago, right? And so the word has been
- 8:15
spreading out that, you know, he resurrected, right?
- 8:17
That was becoming an issue for the Roman Empire, right?
- 8:21
And so there are a lot of believers who believed in, in,
- 8:25
in Christ, but they didn't believe that he would return.
- 8:30
They also had a hard time believing in God, but they they
- 8:33
had a hard time believing that he was fully man and fully.
- 8:37
Fully divine. Divine guy, right?
- 8:39
Yeah. And so they were having all
- 8:40
these issues. And so John and and some of the
- 8:42
like, also the apostles would always have to write and do a
- 8:45
reminder and let them know, right?
- 8:47
The thing, The thing is that he was here on Earth in flesh,
- 8:54
right? But he wasn't like 100% all the
- 8:59
time in divine mode, if you will, right?
- 9:03
Right. He tapped into those moments
- 9:04
when he revealed his power when he was in the Transfiguration.
- 9:08
All these moments, those were the divine moments, right?
- 9:12
But if truly he had to achieve this in the flesh, he also had
- 9:15
to separate from his throne. By separating from his throne,
- 9:18
meaning there not all the time was he tapping into the divine
- 9:22
divinity, Right? Yeah.
- 9:23
But he knew that he was one with God.
- 9:26
They were one with God, obviously.
- 9:27
Right, right, right. Just because he was detached
- 9:31
from divinity didn't mean he didn't have recall in in the
- 9:34
brain that memory. He knew it, right?
- 9:38
So then that's why he talks about this here, tackling all
- 9:41
those ideas, deceivers and people who've got into the world
- 9:46
that that's implying that they were in the church.
- 9:47
Now they're into the. World.
- 9:49
Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, absolutely.
- 9:50
They do not confess that Jesus Christ is coming, right?
- 9:53
So they believe in Christ. They don't.
- 9:54
They are not confessing that He is coming back right now.
- 9:58
Why did they do they touch that topic?
- 10:00
Because at this point they were losing kind of hope.
- 10:04
Yeah, right. Because that was the essence of
- 10:06
the message that he's coming back soon.
- 10:08
Yeah. Yeah.
- 10:08
At this point, a couple years had already passed.
- 10:11
Good. 4050 years, maybe even 60 years have passed.
- 10:14
It's like, is he not coming back?
- 10:16
Yeah. And they're being persecuted,
- 10:17
Right. So.
- 10:19
So deceivers were like, no, he's not coming back.
- 10:22
Right. And why does he say that?
- 10:23
Because look, with this is the deceiver and the Antichrist,
- 10:25
look at yourselves, that you may not lose the things that we
- 10:28
worked. So for that, we may receive the
- 10:31
full reward. John at this point is very old.
- 10:35
Yeah, right. He must be very old.
- 10:37
Yeah, no. No, he's old.
- 10:38
Yeah. And whoever transgresses and
- 10:41
does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God.
- 10:45
He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and
- 10:48
the Son. Anyone comes to you and does not
- 10:52
bring the doctrine, do not receive him in your so.
- 10:56
So this was an issue that was happening.
- 10:57
There's a lot of people coming with a different way of thinking
- 11:00
of the message and by doctrine it means the message of God, the
- 11:03
teaching, right? And so I think that was very
- 11:07
interesting that he tackles that and we would also have to
- 11:11
conclude like, OK, well are there people in our time now
- 11:15
2025 that are coming with a different message?
- 11:20
It sounds. It might sound the same, but
- 11:22
it's different. Yeah, yeah, No, exactly like
- 11:25
you're saying like they grab like a maybe like a chapter of a
- 11:28
book and they make it about themselves, Right, Exactly
- 11:31
right. Because it says anyone who does
- 11:34
not remain. OK, So it says watch yourselves
- 11:36
so that you don't lose what we have worked for, but the one who
- 11:41
may receive a full reward. Anyone who does not remain in
- 11:44
Christ is teachings but goes beyond.
- 11:47
It does not have God. What verse is that?
- 11:50
That is actually verse 9. Anyone who does not remain in
- 11:54
Christ is teachings but goes beyond.
- 11:55
It does not have God. Well, that's crazy, right?
- 11:59
And mine says whoever transgresses it does not abide
- 12:02
in the doctrine of Christ, does not have God.
- 12:05
He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has pulled the fathers.
- 12:09
So yours says is excite the this is something different.
- 12:12
There you read yours again. It says anyone who does not
- 12:17
remain in Christ's teachings but goes beyond it does not have
- 12:20
God. 9 doesn't say that. What's your say is this verse 9?
- 12:26
Yeah, whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine
- 12:30
of Christ does not have God. Transgresses so.
- 12:34
No, no, no, that's fine. Yours says are fine.
- 12:36
Yours says who goes beyond it. Yeah, beyond it, this.
- 12:39
One doesn't say that this one says who does not abide in it.
- 12:42
And wait, isn't it? What does transgress mean?
- 12:44
What does it mean Like? Doesn't it mean like you've?
- 12:46
Committed it like you've broken something.
- 12:48
Oh. OK, I see what you're saying.
- 12:52
So if you read yours, read yours again it.
- 12:55
Says anyone who does not remain in crisis teachings.
- 12:58
OK. So anyone who does not remain
- 12:59
and by remaining meaning you're not steady it, right?
- 13:02
But but goes beyond it. Goes beyond it, meaning now you
- 13:06
from that what you supposed to remain you are adding to it,
- 13:10
meaning going beyond the teaching of this center goal of
- 13:14
it. You're not right, but in my
- 13:16
translation says whoever transgresses does not abide in
- 13:21
the doctrine of Christ. Does not have God right.
- 13:25
So it says a different in this case.
- 13:26
It says here that whatever you break, whatever that is where
- 13:30
the sacred and you break it, that means you do not abide in
- 13:32
Christ. So it says a little bit more
- 13:34
heavier, but yours is implying that if that where you don't
- 13:39
remain and you go beyond it, right?
- 13:42
Yeah. And by beyond it meaning you're
- 13:43
changing. It yeah, changing it over.
- 13:45
Here it's if you transgress it, you do not abide in it.
- 13:48
So it's it's basically saying the same thing.
- 13:50
Yeah. Meaning that teaching you start
- 13:52
to transgress it. Meaning you try to change it.
- 13:54
Like going away from the core of it, not in it.
- 13:57
Exactly. Right.
- 13:58
And so we must wonder also, like, what does that mean in our
- 14:01
time? In our time, seems like.
- 14:05
If we're changing the core of his message.
- 14:09
In our time, well, it definitely has to do with the world once
- 14:14
again. I'll tell you one thing, nothing
- 14:15
has really changed like this is this is what I'm trying.
- 14:18
This is very intense. I'm about to say.
- 14:20
Yeah, yeah. God gave Moses the 10
- 14:26
commandments, right? And he obviously gave them a, a
- 14:29
other things of way of living. They were in the desert.
- 14:32
He needed them to be clean, obviously, to survive the
- 14:34
desert. So they had to eat clean and
- 14:38
then try to try to stay, have good hygiene.
- 14:42
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because they were always
- 14:44
camping. So there was a, you could have
- 14:46
caught diseases. So of course he needed them to
- 14:48
be pure and clean, obviously. But they had this high priest
- 14:55
who would once a year go to the Holy of Holies, bring this blood
- 15:00
to the covenant and everybody would receive forgiveness, the
- 15:04
forgiveness of God. Yeah, Yeah, everybody would once
- 15:07
a year. You see what I'm saying, right.
- 15:11
So when Christ came, he didn't, he didn't come.
- 15:16
He he didn't do anything different.
- 15:19
It was the same thing, right? The only difference here in
- 15:22
regards to the new covenant is he is the sacrifice.
- 15:25
Yeah, absolutely. For all of humanity.
- 15:28
Yeah, for all of humanity. Yeah, at that moment, present
- 15:31
and future. Yep.
- 15:33
No one from the past. He did that job.
- 15:36
When he died, he went under. Yeah.
- 15:38
OK, that's a different conversation.
- 15:41
The only difference here, he did.
- 15:42
Now he is the high priest. Yeah.
- 15:44
Yeah, the same high priest also giving his own life for the
- 15:49
forgiveness of sin, not for the sin.
- 15:52
The forgiveness, yeah, it doesn't disappear.
- 15:55
Exactly, exactly right. It does not disappear.
- 15:58
I agree. And so John talks about these
- 16:01
things, right? Remember the same commandment.
- 16:05
He's, you know, he's just reminded just the first few
- 16:08
verses. Yeah, yeah.
- 16:09
Reminding. Uh huh.
- 16:10
And then he says whoever in your translation, right.
- 16:13
It says whoever does not remain and goes beyond, right, Yeah,
- 16:19
Christ and the Father are not in them exactly here.
- 16:22
It says whoever transgresses it, you do not abide in Christ
- 16:25
period, right, absolutely. And so your translation, this
- 16:30
one, they're they're pretty much saying the same thing.
- 16:32
It's like if you you're by not remaining is like you grab this
- 16:36
teaching and you add upon it or take away or go.
- 16:41
Beyond it, exactly and right. Yeah, what is that?
- 16:45
He he literally came. For to do basically, yeah, what
- 16:50
you. Just he came to abolish the the
- 16:52
commandments, no. He didn't.
- 16:53
No, even Paul says like like he. Talks about in Romans.
- 16:57
It's not that hard. Yeah.
- 16:58
Like we make it more complicated than we have to.
- 17:00
Absolutely. Even a simple thing can
- 17:01
understand this. OK, absolutely.
- 17:04
That he literally came to to fulfil it.
- 17:07
Mm hmm, to fulfill it by. Fulfilling it meaning like the
- 17:11
law is what exposes sin and that causes you death.
- 17:14
Yeah. He actually comes to fulfill it,
- 17:16
meaning now that you know what? What makes you a prisoner?
- 17:24
By believing in him, it rewrites it in your heart.
- 17:28
Yeah, right. Isn't that what he says in
- 17:31
Isaiah where he says I'm gonna put it?
- 17:33
A new heart. A heart.
- 17:34
A heart of flesh, Yeah. That will cause him to what I.
- 17:38
Think it was like to cause him to worship?
- 17:40
Him that will cause him to do his.
- 17:41
Commandments. His commandments that's.
- 17:43
The Holy Spirit. Rewriting it exactly.
- 17:46
Do you know what I mean? Yeah.
- 17:46
Yeah, it all, it all correlates with each other absolutely.
- 17:49
So. So Christ didn't really come to
- 17:51
like change anything. He says you love your God with
- 17:53
all your heart, mind and soul. Love your neighbor as you love
- 17:54
yourself. This holds the law and the
- 17:55
prophets. Boom, that's it.
- 17:57
Yep, right, the. Only difference is Christ dying
- 18:00
so that you have access to the Father.
- 18:01
For the forgiveness of sin? Absolutely.
- 18:03
For the forgiveness of sin? Yeah.
- 18:06
That your sin is being wiped away.
- 18:08
What are you talking about? Yeah, no, absolutely.
- 18:11
Because if I believe in Christ by faith, why then do I?
- 18:17
Why then does there a mystery remains in the flesh like Paul
- 18:22
says? Yeah, Paul does say that.
- 18:26
He says that there's a law. If I believe in Christ,
- 18:29
essentially this new teaching of our time, which is you're saved,
- 18:37
your sins don't matter. You can essentially be addicted
- 18:40
to pornography and still, or it could be anything.
- 18:43
I'm just using that one because it's common, right, right.
- 18:45
In our time, in generation, right doesn't matter.
- 18:50
It that that makes no sense if anything.
- 18:52
Essentially, that's what they're teaching.
- 18:54
That. Yeah, that.
- 18:55
Like your sin is wiped, it's done.
- 18:56
Doesn't exist. Yeah, that's just adding to it.
- 18:59
Sin just doesn't exist, right? That's just adding to it.
- 19:04
Yeah. Because what Paul speaks about
- 19:05
is completely different. He says that sin was death,
- 19:08
right? Like let's say if I don't follow
- 19:11
God's commandments, you know, sin to me is dead because like,
- 19:14
I'm just doing it and, you know, I don't see it.
- 19:16
There's no light shining on it. So it's like, it's like.
- 19:19
Yeah, just because he says that like the law is what makes sin
- 19:24
alive. Yeah, causes you to be dead.
- 19:27
Exactly. Because you know the effect it
- 19:29
has. Yeah, but if you don't pay
- 19:31
attention to the law, you don't care about it.
- 19:33
Sin is dead. That doesn't mean it's like it
- 19:35
doesn't exist. No, it's just.
- 19:37
It's just it's not visible. It's not visible, yeah.
- 19:40
So you are. Alive.
- 19:41
Yeah, you're alive, but sin is dead.
- 19:42
Yeah, but the moment you start. Paying attention to the law
- 19:46
because it points and exposes sin because it exposes it, by
- 19:50
the way, whoever is listening, this is in Chapter 7 of Romans.
- 19:54
Yeah, we can read chapter 5678, which is just pretty much all of
- 19:59
that, if you're interested. Because the law exposes sin is
- 20:06
the law of sin. You, you are a prisoner of it,
- 20:09
meaning you, you feel death. Yeah.
- 20:12
Because now you know that. Absolutely, because.
- 20:14
Now sin is is visible. It's visible, it's alive
- 20:17
because. The law.
- 20:17
Makes it? Yes, exactly.
- 20:19
When you commit an infraction. Uh huh.
- 20:23
It's actually doing and you feel and you feel death.
- 20:27
It's that's the cause of the law.
- 20:28
Yeah, exposing sin, right, Right.
- 20:30
It's the reason why Christ had to come.
- 20:32
Yes, that's why in the towards the end of Chapter 7 of Romans,
- 20:35
he says what a wretched man I am who shall deliver me from this.
- 20:40
Then the last verse he says so then through Christ, yes, I'm
- 20:44
able to serve God in one hand, the law of God and in the other.
- 20:49
The Law of. Christ, Christ.
- 20:52
And then Christ asked him about to send a counselor.
- 20:56
The Spirit within. Yeah, that willingness now
- 20:59
becomes alive. Exactly.
- 21:01
Ties in the law of God, Yeah. And the law of the flesh?
- 21:05
Yep. By what?
- 21:09
By faith. Amen.
- 21:10
Do not forget, remember and remain and by to remain
- 21:15
requires. To requires faith exactly what
- 21:20
John. Sebastian changing anything?
- 21:22
Exactly. And he's just pointing out the
- 21:24
deceiver who are adding or going beyond are transgressing the the
- 21:29
essential of this faith. Yeah.
- 21:31
And to just to give people a little bit of history.
- 21:33
It's like in the beginning they didn't even call themselves
- 21:37
Christians. They actually they go much
- 21:40
earlier. Scholars have found, or
- 21:42
archaeologists have found much earlier, did they actually call?
- 21:45
They were calling themselves the Way.
- 21:47
No way. The way.
- 21:50
Oh yeah, we've talked about this before.
- 21:52
They never called themselves Christians.
- 21:55
Sorry about that. They didn't call themselves
- 21:56
Christians. They were called Christians by
- 22:00
some people in Antioch. Yeah.
- 22:02
And essentially the first time they were called that, it was
- 22:05
out of mockery. Oh, yeah.
- 22:07
It wasn't even because they were.
- 22:09
They were mocking them out, these little Christians.
- 22:12
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Interesting.
- 22:15
And then it was mentioned again second time in the book of Acts.
- 22:18
Yeah, they now started to take that upon that name as a
- 22:22
Christian. Right, right.
- 22:24
But they were actually called. They were being called the way
- 22:26
they were calling themselves, the way it was a subsection of
- 22:32
Judaism, if you will. Oh.
- 22:34
OK, OK, I got you. Right.
- 22:36
The only thing is that Paul was identifying is that the Gentiles
- 22:39
don't need to do the traditional keeping the Saturday or not
- 22:45
eating pork, or that they came into an agreement when they met
- 22:48
into Jerusalem and spoke about what not for them to do.
- 22:52
Yeah, yeah, absolutely. Were like couple things, like 3
- 22:54
or 4 things that that they shouldn't do that that they
- 22:57
shouldn't do because that was the basis of commandments,
- 23:00
right? That was universal around the
- 23:03
whole. They understood that, yeah, but
- 23:06
not like eating pork this or that.
- 23:09
Right, right. Right.
- 23:10
No. Absolutely.
- 23:11
So that's what Paul was talking about.
- 23:13
Paul dealt with the most complicated things, talking to
- 23:16
them about works in regards to the Jewish tradition.
- 23:19
Yeah. But also, he said, Putt, that
- 23:22
doesn't mean to abolish the law, which is the basic commands,
- 23:24
yeah, that they spoke about in Jerusalem.
- 23:27
Because he says that the God's commandments are holy.
- 23:29
They're just, they're pure. Yeah, right.
- 23:31
Absolutely. And so yeah, that's why he
- 23:33
tackles this in verse 7. He starts like telling them the
- 23:36
deceivers who are the Antichrist.
- 23:38
Yeah, yeah, absolutely. All right.
- 23:40
And so and why? Why?
- 23:42
Because bro, the time passes, right?
- 23:46
There's songs that are being ring God, we're ready for you.
- 23:48
Come now. Are you that exhausted?
- 23:52
You know, I'm not trying to be mean, but like, are you
- 23:54
exhausted? Yeah, yeah.
- 23:55
Is following Christ a burdensome literally.
- 23:58
John says that in in in one of the chapters in first John, like
- 24:01
the commandments, should not be a burdensome.
- 24:03
Yeah, I think it's in chapter 5, the last chapter where he talks
- 24:06
about that. He says that God's commandments
- 24:07
are not a burdensome. Yeah, they shouldn't.
- 24:11
And then I'm pretty sure he he he ends with that paragraph.
- 24:15
But like in Chapter 4, he he talks about like the victory
- 24:19
that has conquered the world, our faith, our faith.
- 24:23
Yeah, I think another one that's a little bit challenging and I
- 24:28
don't know, I'm asking what you think.
- 24:30
So he identifies verse verse 7-8 and nine.
- 24:35
But then look what he says as a result of these kind of people,
- 24:40
whatever category you want to put them on.
- 24:41
He says if anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching
- 24:45
or message doctrine, whatever you want to call it, by doctrine
- 24:49
it means teaching. Right, right.
- 24:51
Sound teaching, good teaching, the teaching of Jesus.
- 24:56
He didn't change anything. He literally taught Nicodemus.
- 25:00
You're a teacher and you don't understand this.
- 25:03
So what was Christ implying there?
- 25:07
That like you should have known this by now.
- 25:10
You should have already known this by now if you really truly
- 25:13
like man. If Christ would have come or
- 25:14
not, he should. Have known.
- 25:15
He should have known this already.
- 25:17
Yeah, because some of them understood.
- 25:19
Why would Christ say love your God with all your heart, mind
- 25:22
and soul? Love your neighbor as you love
- 25:27
yourself? This holds the commandments, the
- 25:29
Law and the Prophets. Right, exactly.
- 25:33
He wasn't saying anything different.
- 25:34
Nope, he was not. He was The Pharisees were asking
- 25:38
him to trick him. They wanted to.
- 25:42
They wanted him to say which one was the important commandment.
- 25:48
God was like, if you love God with all your heart, mind and
- 25:50
soul, you love your neighbor as you love yourself.
- 25:52
This holds the Law and the prophets.
- 25:54
Right. Yeah.
- 25:56
That means all of it is important.
- 25:58
Yes, Amen. You know it's also this is where
- 26:03
verse 10 he then categorizes them.
- 26:06
Whoever then comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do
- 26:11
not receive him into your house angry.
- 26:16
For the one yeah, if anyone come.
- 26:20
Damn, dude, is that love? Is that love?
- 26:23
Well. Or is it not love?
- 26:25
I think it's keeping the first commandment.
- 26:27
It's still love. Yeah, love you God with all your
- 26:31
heart and my soul. So that means like you're.
- 26:36
I'll give you a testimony. All right, God, God, God.
- 26:40
It can correlate to this in retrospect it was a while back
- 26:47
but not really for one is a while back, but for God it's
- 26:51
always the same. God was setting up a blessing
- 26:54
for me. This is specifically designed
- 27:02
and I'm just giving you perspective of what how God see
- 27:06
things at that moment. Obviously it was presented for
- 27:12
me to me, you know, well then I didn't reject it or I didn't
- 27:19
intentionally like that wasn't my intention to reject it,
- 27:23
right, right. It was, I just wanted to help
- 27:26
someone else gave it to them before me.
- 27:31
Yeah. But the blessing was designed
- 27:35
because obviously it was to for the betterment of his will and
- 27:41
the what he, you know, wants me, wanted me to do, right, Right.
- 27:48
So one would be like, well is my caring for that person greater
- 27:53
than what his will is? Oh, I see what you're saying.
- 27:58
So it's almost like that very moment you're idolizing the
- 28:02
person. I wouldn't say idolize.
- 28:05
Idolizing to help. Help like helping them No or no?
- 28:09
I don't think it has nothing to do with idolization.
- 28:13
I'm bringing this is because God's God was expecting my
- 28:19
reaction to hold His will superior to everything else,
- 28:24
right? Right.
- 28:25
Yeah. That was a blessing that was
- 28:27
designed for me to do so that I can execute it more right with
- 28:33
precision, but not because I not that I, I didn't intentionally
- 28:36
reject it. Like it wasn't on purpose that I
- 28:39
was rejecting it. It just happened because I was,
- 28:44
you know, I was putting that person first before myself.
- 28:47
Yeah. Not realizing that I was
- 28:49
actually subconsciously not paying attention to the hand at
- 28:54
task, the task at hand. Right, Right.
- 28:59
Do you know what I mean? No, I totally.
- 29:00
Understand what you're saying. It's the same.
- 29:01
It's true here, right? Everybody.
- 29:04
You receive someone because of the love of God.
- 29:07
You receive someone. Or how much do you love your God
- 29:10
with all your heart, mind and soul?
- 29:11
You love your neighbor as you love yourself, but which one
- 29:15
remains higher? God, of course.
- 29:19
Right. So in this case, he's saying if
- 29:21
anyone who comes to you, he's implying that if anyone comes to
- 29:24
you, he's he's also letting you know that if you love God first
- 29:28
above everything, if anyone comes to you, you're going to
- 29:30
reject this. You're not going to, right?
- 29:33
I'm not saying I was supposed to reject that person, obviously
- 29:36
not, but what I was supposed to do.
- 29:41
It's different situation but I'm trying to.
- 29:44
Yeah, no, I see. What?
- 29:45
What is more important? Yeah, he's expecting this,
- 29:49
parent this. This person to to someone that
- 29:54
that comes like this, whose will is to be held first, Right,
- 29:59
Right. His will.
- 30:01
Amen. Right.
- 30:02
Yeah, absolutely. So This is why this wasn't.
- 30:04
Is that not love? No, it's definitely keeping the
- 30:08
commandment. Love your God with all your
- 30:11
heart, mind and soul, exactly because you're keeping God above
- 30:14
everything. Is that hatred?
- 30:16
No, it's just say you love God with all your heart, mind and
- 30:19
soul that you wouldn't want anyone to ruin.
- 30:21
It But is it hatred? If someone comes to you and does
- 30:26
not bring the doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor
- 30:33
greet him, for who greets him shares the Saint, his evils
- 30:43
evil. So basically.
- 30:45
Is that hatred? No, you're just not tolerating
- 30:49
what is evil. But it's that hatred.
- 30:50
Absolutely not, because even God in the where's that love?
- 30:54
No, that's love because even in the even in the churches, God
- 30:57
was against how some of the churches tolerated certain
- 31:01
people within the churches. But for someone in our time, in
- 31:06
our modern church, someone comes with something different that is
- 31:10
not the same. Exactly.
- 31:12
We now become the aggressive, if we call it, I'll be like, Nah,
- 31:17
man, right? That's not the love of God.
- 31:21
No, that is the love of God. Absolutely, because you love God
- 31:24
with all your heart, mind so His will.
- 31:27
The other what the other person is doing?
- 31:28
No, that's right. What the other person is doing
- 31:30
is loving the hospitality more than Jesus teaching.
- 31:39
Exactly. That's true.
- 31:42
Absolutely. Yeah.
- 31:43
Because God. And like I said, in the seven
- 31:46
churches. Read that.
- 31:47
Read verse 10. No, yeah, exactly like he says,
- 31:50
if anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, this
- 31:55
teaching, do not receive him into your home and do not greet
- 32:01
him, for the one who greets him shares in his evil.
- 32:06
Works. Where would this church meet up?
- 32:09
In caves, right? Cave homes, right?
- 32:14
Whatever they can, right? Yeah bro, he's.
- 32:17
No, he's. For he who greets him shares
- 32:20
his, that means you're sharing with him.
- 32:23
Right, his evil works. Yeah, bro, it's tough.
- 32:27
Absolutely. And you know what?
- 32:29
And don't a lot of people say that John is the one that writes
- 32:32
a lot about love? Right.
- 32:34
Is that love there? It is love now.
- 32:38
Are we supposed to act like that?
- 32:43
We should not with hatred. It's not hatred.
- 32:48
Someone that's mature in God, with God will understand that
- 32:51
that's love. But someone that's immature will
- 32:54
understand that. No way.
- 32:55
Having many things to write to you, I do not wish to do so with
- 33:00
paper and ink, but I hope to come to you and speak face to
- 33:06
face that our joy may be full. So is implying that he wasn't
- 33:13
with them and it was difficult to get to them.
- 33:15
So he could be in prison, right? And he hopes it, because perhaps
- 33:19
he would have been released. The children of your elect
- 33:24
sister greets you. Amen.
- 33:29
That the core of this second John is really 7 all the way
- 33:36
through 11. Absolutely, Absolutely.
- 33:41
Because now in today's time, a lot of people, they, they, they
- 33:46
present themselves so alive, you know, but they twist what it
- 33:53
truly means to love God, bro, You know what I mean?
- 33:59
It's almost, I don't know, bro, but John was clear.
- 34:02
And what he says is, is so true. I see it as as love because God
- 34:08
is love, right? And you don't want to tolerate
- 34:11
something that's that's evil. Yeah, you can pray for them
- 34:13
because Christ did say pray for your enemies, but it doesn't
- 34:16
mean you have to tolerate what they do.
- 34:19
And I think that's where we, we get it mixed up.
- 34:22
Yep. Yep, I just want to read it one
- 34:23
more time just so that they know the gravity of this.
- 34:28
Why do I say this again? I don't if we live in a modern
- 34:35
time where like we tolerate way too many things.
- 34:39
Yeah, absolutely. We tolerate things that it just.
- 34:42
It blows my mind it. Doesn't make sense.
- 34:45
Yeah. But if anyone comes to you and
- 34:46
does not bring this doctrine, so like sometimes we receive people
- 34:50
who come with different ideas and we're like, oh, yeah, we can
- 34:52
talk about it. Come in.
- 34:53
What do you mean come in? Right.
- 34:56
Do not receive him into your house or greet or even greet
- 34:59
him. Oh dear.
- 35:03
Interesting bro. No, because you love your How do
- 35:07
you love yourself bro? So this is tricky.
- 35:13
This is going to sound very weird, but I'm only going to say
- 35:15
according to how Christ said it, I hate my life enough for the
- 35:24
sake of Christ, Right? Because that's literally what
- 35:26
Christ says. Whatever denies their life for
- 35:29
the sake of me has life. In order to deny my life, I have
- 35:32
to hate it. I don't care.
- 35:33
Yeah, no, he does say. If you want to be my disciple,
- 35:37
you got to hate your life. Right.
- 35:38
Yeah. Or deny or deny yourself.
- 35:40
You have to just hate it like that so much that you don't care
- 35:43
about it, right? For his sake.
- 35:47
So. But simultaneously, in order to
- 35:50
do that, I have to love myself in order to do that.
- 35:53
Why? Because enough to deny myself to
- 35:56
God. Right, like you love yourself to
- 35:59
the point where you're. Like, it's not hatred of like,
- 36:00
I'm going to go commit suicide. No, no, no.
- 36:02
It's almost like, yeah, this life is nothing.
- 36:04
I hate it. Yeah, meaning I don't like, I
- 36:07
don't want. It yeah, like Christ is
- 36:08
everything. Exactly.
- 36:10
Yeah, yeah, I totally get what you're saying.
- 36:12
So in that same way, if someone comes with a different like, I
- 36:17
can tell it's different. I'm being like, either I correct
- 36:23
them at that moment and be like, hey, listen, no.
- 36:25
If he's like no, no, no, then I was like, hey, listen, I can't.
- 36:29
Yeah, Christ did say wipe the dust off your feet and move on.
- 36:32
Yeah, if they don't accept. That that's what he's saying,
- 36:34
right? Yeah.
- 36:35
Yeah, yeah. No, absolutely.
- 36:37
Because you love your, you love yourself to the point where you
- 36:40
deny yourself, right. So in that same way, when you
- 36:42
love your neighbor, you also display that love to them to
- 36:44
deny themselves. And obviously this phrase is
- 36:47
very, very Middle Eastern culture phrase does not practice
- 36:53
in American culture over here. We'll tolerate anything.
- 36:56
We'll, we'll, for the sake of his soul that he'll come in and
- 36:59
and start speaking about manifestation, higher power, all
- 37:03
this and that and and they have them there.
- 37:04
Yeah. Yeah, yeah, possibly even in the
- 37:07
altar. Yeah, exactly.
- 37:09
Like I. When what you should be doing is
- 37:11
being like, hey brother, this is what Christ teaches.
- 37:14
Yes, this is it. That's love bro.
- 37:16
Like you're going to tell me that's not love?
- 37:18
But we're afraid, or I don't know.
- 37:20
Yeah, because John's, John's very clear and specific did not
- 37:24
accept him into your home. Yep, Yep.
- 37:27
Yeah, it's not like saying that you're going to bash on them
- 37:29
now, but you're going to tell them the truth.
- 37:31
Like, hey man, this we teach Christ's teachings here.
- 37:34
Yeah, if you don't like it, it's OK.
- 37:36
Exactly. But we're not going to.
- 37:37
Tolerate that exactly. All because we love God with all
- 37:41
of our heart, mind and soul. Exactly.
- 37:45
And for that? Reason.
- 37:46
That's where John wrote that. And yeah, a mature Christian
- 37:52
would understand. Yeah, 100.
- 37:55
Percent an immature Christian they would never understand.
- 37:57
No, they'll try to like come up with different interpretation,
- 38:00
conclusions, justifying. All that stuff.
- 38:02
All that stuff. No, no, no, no.
- 38:05
Either we love God and we we care about our relationship with
- 38:08
him or we tolerate the world. Yeah, yeah.
- 38:10
There's no middle ground here. It's either black or white.
- 38:13
Yeah, yeah, yeah, no. And he says this because this
- 38:16
was happening. Yeah, this was happening.
- 38:18
Exactly. And he this is almost like a
- 38:21
like he's quoting revelations. Oh yeah, when the seven
- 38:24
churches. Oh yes, she's.
- 38:26
Going to tell them, hey, listen, I see that you're tolerating
- 38:28
this. Yeah.
- 38:29
And by tolerating this because they've received them.
- 38:31
Yep, exactly. They were receiving, they were
- 38:35
receiving this what Jezebel and spirit of Jezebel and people
- 38:39
were doing like some witchcraft rituals, right?
- 38:41
The teachings of Baal, lots of stuff there, bro.
- 38:44
Yeah, man. And that's like you said, that's
- 38:46
happening today in the churches. People will say this higher
- 38:49
power, don't correct them. Be like that higher power that
- 38:52
you are seeking is God. That you want to seek is called
- 38:55
He is called God. Jesus.
- 38:57
Christ, the one and only, the Lord and Savior.
- 38:59
But they'll be like, yeah, but like, no, no, no, no.
- 39:02
The other type of higher power, you're seeking for something
- 39:04
completely different, right? And it's real, and it's wicked.
- 39:08
Wicked. Exactly.
- 39:10
It's the Prince of Air. Yeah, if you want to call it
- 39:13
that or something. Yeah, way worse.
- 39:15
Yeah, it's worse. Yeah, that's a friend of the
- 39:17
topic. But now, dude, yeah, I think
- 39:20
it's time that like, you know, we call people out, but with
- 39:24
love, obviously not like in a barbaric way.
- 39:27
And yeah, bro, I, I've, I've gone to that point where say
- 39:33
when I go to Bible studies or anything like that, right?
- 39:36
And I see some someone say something that completely does
- 39:39
not line up with what God's teachings.
- 39:41
I don't mind speaking out. So if in and if they they don't
- 39:47
want to associate with me, that's fine.
- 39:49
But what John is saying is did not accept them into your home
- 39:53
meaning like like do not swayed away from what our from the
- 39:57
teachings of Christ and he he also says this too.
- 40:00
He says watch yourselves so that you do not lose what we have
- 40:05
worked for. So clearly they were they were
- 40:09
staying strong. Some of them were staying strong
- 40:12
to what they have been taught. Yeah.
- 40:14
And so he's always saying like what we have worked for.
- 40:17
So whatever their work they have worked for also feel like it's
- 40:20
been it's you're doing it too with us.
- 40:22
Exactly. Exactly.
- 40:24
So. Yeah.
- 40:25
Exactly So, yeah. So anyone like listening, Like
- 40:29
do not be afraid. If you know the truth, say it.
- 40:32
Don't be afraid. Say it with love.
- 40:34
Obviously. Don't be barbaric.
- 40:37
My ends. God will be with you, yeah.
- 40:39
Yeah. Yeah, truly, you really are
- 40:41
walking with God. Absolutely.
- 40:42
Yeah. So to wrap it up guys, I believe
- 40:46
the next one is third John, right?
- 40:48
Yeah, third John. There's 1 chapter there's.
- 40:50
Only one chapter. Yeah, yeah.
- 40:52
And then that should pretty much wrap it up and then we'll see
- 40:56
what other book God wants us to dive in or what what else he
- 41:00
has. If anyone has any questions,
- 41:03
comment. Yeah, you can e-mail us.
- 41:07

- 41:26
All right. Thank you, Lord, so much for
- 41:30
just allowing us to be here, guide us and lead us into the
- 41:34
absolute truth, for you are the one true living God.
- 41:37
I just want to say thank you so much, a lot for this freedom of
- 41:40
just being able to read your word and peace.
- 41:43
And I pray for my brothers and sisters out there.
- 41:46
I probably don't have this freedom, but I pray that you
- 41:49
protect them and they be with them so that they may continue
- 41:53
and give them the strength in Your holy mighty name.
- 41:57
Amen. All right, till next guys.
