- 0:03Speaker 1: Make sure you don't miss the podcast with Bootleg Cab
- 0:05Speaker 1: We Live.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Baby, Bootleg Cavs, show Man, special guests in here, Mike
- 0:14Speaker 2: got mc magic, Thanks.
- 0:16Speaker 1: For having me, my brother man. It's a good time
- 0:20Speaker 1: being here. Not the first time, of course, but congratulations
- 0:23Speaker 1: to you too, Arizona Boys up Baby.
- 0:25Speaker 3: Yes, sir man, you got the new album out right now?
- 0:27Speaker 3: God bless Chicanos. Which is it's like a short but
- 0:32Speaker 3: sweet project?
- 0:33Speaker 2: Was it?
- 0:33Speaker 1: Eleven records, eleven eleven songs?
- 0:35Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 0:36Speaker 1: Is that short now?
- 0:37Speaker 4: I guess it is? Now right.
- 0:39Speaker 3: I'm thinking like you've had some albums with some fucking
- 0:41Speaker 3: joints on there.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Yeah, nineteen nineteen songs, and you know, we live in
- 0:45Speaker 1: a different era, Bootleg. Matter of fact, most of the
- 0:47Speaker 1: people that give advice about how to release your music,
- 0:51Speaker 1: they say, stay away from albums. Nobody pays attention to
- 0:54Speaker 1: the whole album. Just do single, single, single single. But
- 0:57Speaker 1: I'm from the old school man. I think an album
- 0:59Speaker 1: has a special place in my heart and a special
- 1:02Speaker 1: place in real music lover's heart.
- 1:04Speaker 3: And I feel like you have a fan base that
- 1:06Speaker 3: most artists don't have. Most artists are trying to get
- 1:09Speaker 3: thrown into the algorithm of the single I see, I see.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:12Speaker 3: They try to you know, get like in a bottle,
- 1:14Speaker 3: get a TikTok hit mean you have like fans who
- 1:16Speaker 3: will like break bread you know.
- 1:18Speaker 1: No doubt, and man, man, we really do. Man, it's crazy.
- 1:21Speaker 1: And after thirty years of almost thirty years check it out.
- 1:25Speaker 1: In twenty twenty five will be thirty years that my
- 1:29Speaker 1: first album drop. And it's also thirty years of my
- 1:32Speaker 1: wedding anniversary.
- 1:33Speaker 3: Wow, wait, thirty years since which album?
- 1:38Speaker 1: Don't worry coming out the Phex lost the Love.
- 1:42Speaker 4: I was about to dude, I'm old as fun damn
- 1:47Speaker 4: you know, but I'm proud of it. I'm proud of
- 1:49Speaker 4: you should be longevity. Man.
- 1:51Speaker 1: No, people are talking about, hey, bro, how come Google
- 1:55Speaker 1: says you're forty seven? I no, I'm fifty seven and
- 1:57Speaker 1: I earned them.
- 1:58Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:58Speaker 3: No, that's good though, man, feel like to like, you know,
- 2:01Speaker 3: I always say, like, you know, if you can move
- 2:05Speaker 3: the it's really easy to watch people go in and
- 2:09Speaker 3: out of this business, you know, whether it's hip hop, pop, whatever.
- 2:13Speaker 3: When they move like assholes, when they move with like
- 2:15Speaker 3: a lot of disrespect, and I feel like you've always
- 2:17Speaker 3: kind of made sure that you move a certain direction
- 2:20Speaker 3: a certain way while also kind of like, you know,
- 2:23Speaker 3: staying true to yourself and.
- 2:24Speaker 1: No doubt, no doubt, You're a big relationships guy. You know,
- 2:28Speaker 1: I'm big on integrity. Can if you say I'm gonna
- 2:31Speaker 1: meet you at ten, I'm that guy that I was
- 2:34Speaker 1: late today, Guys, I wasn't throwing the shot. But but
- 2:39Speaker 1: not just not just meetings, you know in general. You
- 2:42Speaker 1: know when you when you do a solid for someone, sure, whatever,
- 2:45Speaker 1: whatever it is. I'm big on integrity because at the
- 2:48Speaker 1: end of the day, you can lose all your money,
- 2:50Speaker 1: you can lose all your belongings. But your word is gold. Yep,
- 2:54Speaker 1: your word is bond. And that's a New York thing.
- 2:57Speaker 1: You know what is bond?
- 2:58Speaker 4: Kid? For sure? For sure?
- 3:00Speaker 1: And I believe that.
- 3:02Speaker 3: Can you walk me through. I want to get to
- 3:04Speaker 3: a few things with the album. But the last song
- 3:07Speaker 3: of the album, you guys did a remake that Drodi
- 3:10Speaker 3: and Oates had thrown out there randomly. It was out
- 3:13Speaker 3: for a second, it was and I told them when
- 3:16Speaker 3: they dropped it, I said, hey, you guys should reach
- 3:19Speaker 3: out to Magic. I'm not sure the specifics of that record,
- 3:22Speaker 3: because it did come out on Upstairs. Yeah, right, And
- 3:25Speaker 3: from what I understand.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Joe Lopez John is the owner, Okay, Joe's his wife.
- 3:31Speaker 4: Okay.
- 3:32Speaker 3: So from what I was always told was that they're
- 3:34Speaker 3: not the easiest people to clear things.
- 3:36Speaker 1: I see, you know, I don't know how many people
- 3:38Speaker 1: have reached out to them to clear things.
- 3:40Speaker 3: But we got a homegirl who redid the summer nights, okay,
- 3:43Speaker 3: and it was a up uphill battle. I see, I
- 3:46Speaker 3: believe it, But but how so can you kind of
- 3:49Speaker 3: give me what you guys did to actually officially release
- 3:52Speaker 3: the song.
- 3:52Speaker 1: I was happy that they did it because because really
- 3:55Speaker 1: it's it's respect. If the song wasn't good, they wouldn't
- 3:58Speaker 1: even touch it. So I take it as as a
- 4:00Speaker 1: as a as respect when they remade pretty Girl and
- 4:04Speaker 1: they just called it pretty Girl. But one of the
- 4:05Speaker 1: problems in music is if you have the same title
- 4:10Speaker 1: royalty wise, percentage wise, it's hard for them for Askap
- 4:15Speaker 1: and b and might have figured out because they got
- 4:16Speaker 1: the same title and it was the same song, and
- 4:19Speaker 1: I think that was the mistake that they made. Didn't
- 4:22Speaker 1: add a letter to it or something to distinguish it,
- 4:26Speaker 1: and so uh, real quickly it got it got it
- 4:31Speaker 1: got taken down because of copyright issues, and I couldn't
- 4:35Speaker 1: do nothing about that because they owned the master, you know,
- 4:38Speaker 1: even though I wrote it and produced it. Uh and
- 4:42Speaker 1: they they owned the master. So they took it down.
- 4:45Speaker 1: And and those guys reached out to me after the fact,
- 4:48Speaker 1: you know, I talked to Drodi. I said, don't worry
- 4:49Speaker 1: about it, man, Let's just remake it with no samples.
- 4:53Speaker 4: So that's what I did. You you re sang it.
- 4:55Speaker 4: That's kind of really did everything.
- 4:57Speaker 1: There's no samples in the new version of the original,
- 4:59Speaker 1: but it still feels like the original.
- 5:01Speaker 3: Well that's what I was gonna say, because is that
- 5:03Speaker 3: kind of like what Taylor Swift recently did.
- 5:05Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly, she re recorded her whole.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a new master of a song that I created.
- 5:11Speaker 1: You know, an IP You can't you can't take that away.
- 5:14Speaker 3: You don't take that away from you because you write
- 5:15Speaker 3: that song. Yeah, that's so it's a nice loophole.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a good loophole in the music industry. I mean,
- 5:21Speaker 1: Taylor Swift has made billions off off of doing that.
- 5:24Speaker 1: You know, she tells everybody go get my new compilation
- 5:27Speaker 1: of the same song.
- 5:28Speaker 4: Yeah, and it's a new recording.
- 5:29Speaker 1: It's a new recording of the same song. And so
- 5:31Speaker 1: it's her master now it's no longer the master that
- 5:33Speaker 1: she got a fat advance.
- 5:35Speaker 4: For, right, Yeah, that's were they happy about it?
- 5:38Speaker 1: Yeah, they were, and and and we finished it back
- 5:41Speaker 1: in December.
- 5:42Speaker 4: No, no, I mean upstairs records.
- 5:44Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 5:45Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 5:45Speaker 1: I don't know, man, Yeah, yeah, we don't. We don't talk.
- 5:48Speaker 1: We have no issue. I mean, no, no kind of relationship.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Only I knew that.
- 5:53Speaker 4: I just didn't know if like they'd like try to hate.
- 5:55Speaker 1: No, they haven't told me anything they have. But I
- 5:58Speaker 1: didn't break any rules, for sure, break any rules. I mean,
- 6:00Speaker 1: that's my original lyrics, something about you. Those were my lyrics,
- 6:04Speaker 1: you feel me, for sure? And so just to re
- 6:06Speaker 1: sing my lyrics, yeah, it's no problem.
- 6:08Speaker 3: And so you guys when Ot was in Phoenix, you
- 6:12Speaker 3: guys shot a video in Phoenix for that song. We did,
- 6:15Speaker 3: and I remember me and Ote would talk about it
- 6:16Speaker 3: all the time and he'd be like, man, I don't
- 6:18Speaker 3: know when the fuck that thing's coming out.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Bro.
- 6:19Speaker 4: We had shot that video so long.
- 6:21Speaker 1: So what happened is is that I, uh that I finished.
- 6:24Speaker 1: We finished that one in December, and we shot the
- 6:27Speaker 1: video because Ot was doing the show in December, so
- 6:30Speaker 1: we piggybacked off the video the same day of his
- 6:33Speaker 1: video actually and uh our same day of his show,
- 6:36Speaker 1: I mean. And so I had it done and then
- 6:39Speaker 1: I got two more features from him, that Bounce and
- 6:43Speaker 1: another one that I haven't dropped yet that I'm saying
- 6:45Speaker 1: that's in the can. But the hold up was getting
- 6:48Speaker 1: the clearance from Interscope. So getting that waiver from Interscope
- 6:52Speaker 1: it took a little bit. We got out, we had
- 6:54Speaker 1: all the paperwork done, all the finances were done, all
- 6:57Speaker 1: the legal fees were done, everything was taken care of,
- 7:00Speaker 1: and Interscope just kind of took their time. And then
- 7:02Speaker 1: finally on a Tuesday, they said they sent me an
- 7:06Speaker 1: email said if you want to drop this Friday, go ahead,
- 7:08Speaker 1: but other other than that, we don't know when we
- 7:10Speaker 1: can give you a date. And I'm like, it's dropping
- 7:12Speaker 1: this Friday.
- 7:14Speaker 3: Yeah, because you guys shot I remember when Coyote was here,
- 7:18Speaker 3: we did an interview and then either that night or
- 7:21Speaker 3: first thing in the morning, they had to catch a
- 7:23Speaker 3: flight to.
- 7:23Speaker 1: He's right, yeah, right the next day, Uh, they left
- 7:27Speaker 1: from here, I think the next day. It was crazy
- 7:29Speaker 1: because I really felt a lot of love from Ot
- 7:31Speaker 1: that day. Because our video shoot was supposed to start
- 7:35Speaker 1: at two pm in Houston. We again, we worked it
- 7:38Speaker 1: around his schedule.
- 7:40Speaker 4: He was did shoot both videos, the one that's coming
- 7:44Speaker 4: out soon.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Yes, he shot and edited both. So we got there.
- 7:49Speaker 1: It was for a two pm video shoot, it was
- 7:51Speaker 1: supposed to be, but the airlines were having problems and
- 7:54Speaker 1: we were We were four hours late, me and the YODI.
- 7:57Speaker 1: So we pulled up, you know, in the rental change
- 8:00Speaker 1: right into filming.
- 8:02Speaker 4: Damn, you wouldn't even know. You would not have guessed
- 8:04Speaker 4: watching the video exactly.
- 8:06Speaker 1: And then Ot he had already been there waiting four
- 8:08Speaker 1: hours for us.
- 8:09Speaker 4: Uh.
- 8:10Speaker 1: It was done at this little place called Chicano Boulevard.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Oh shit, you know, and it really it w went
- 8:15Speaker 1: well with the title too.
- 8:16Speaker 4: You know. I saw do boy pulled up. But who
- 8:18Speaker 4: else was in the video? The baby ba Baby Bash
- 8:20Speaker 4: was pushing up LOGI shouts to.
- 8:22Speaker 1: Bash, Yeah, my brother bash Man. We've been doing so
- 8:25Speaker 1: much work together.
- 8:26Speaker 4: Yo.
- 8:28Speaker 3: It's crazy to think because me and Bash had a
- 8:31Speaker 3: conversation recently about how he's never been busier on the
- 8:36Speaker 3: road in his career. Yeah, and I feel like the
- 8:39Speaker 3: same is probably said for you.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Yeah, the same is for me. You know, a lot
- 8:44Speaker 1: of things have changed, keV. You know, even just going
- 8:47Speaker 1: out to do what they called promo shows back in
- 8:50Speaker 1: the days, you know, radio stations and the label would
- 8:53Speaker 1: abuse the artists so that they both can win, and
- 8:56Speaker 1: the artists went on to be Yeah, artists would go
- 8:59Speaker 1: home broke.
- 9:00Speaker 4: A look or for the record appeah yeah, yeah, to.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Get the ad, to get the spins to get you.
- 9:04Speaker 4: Sure you did a lot of those, of course. Yeah.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Of course. Even after I left I went back independent
- 9:11Speaker 1: with the with the Magic City, I still had to
- 9:15Speaker 1: do a lot of radio stuff, but it really helped.
- 9:17Speaker 1: It really helped because Sexy Lady, I mean, of all
- 9:20Speaker 1: my albums, Magic City is the only one that went
- 9:22Speaker 1: number one on Billboard. Wow, number one on the independent chart.
- 9:25Speaker 1: It's called the heat Seeker chart.
- 9:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, So in two thousand and six, I went
- 9:29Speaker 1: number one on Billboard.
- 9:30Speaker 4: And you had a real hit.
- 9:31Speaker 3: I mean, Sexy Lady was like, is I just want
- 9:35Speaker 3: to know, Like I live in Arizona at the time
- 9:38Speaker 3: and that song if you cannot turn the fucking radio
- 9:40Speaker 3: on with out hearing that song.
- 9:42Speaker 1: I remember the night jock name was Sander.
- 9:44Speaker 3: Pena, who's currently in LA doing her thing.
- 9:47Speaker 1: That's right. So it was it was a top nine
- 9:50Speaker 1: at nine. They would do every night, and I think
- 9:52Speaker 1: I was number one for at least two months straight.
- 9:56Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:56Speaker 1: That was amazing.
- 9:57Speaker 4: And there's still not a real video.
- 10:00Speaker 1: No, it's just that one thing that I shot at
- 10:02Speaker 1: the rate of state dais three day times three. My
- 10:04Speaker 1: son who's been with me for the whole journey, I
- 10:07Speaker 1: think he was in high school. We filmed an unplugged
- 10:10Speaker 1: version at a studio.
- 10:12Speaker 3: Have you thought about I don't know what your relationships
- 10:14Speaker 3: like with Caine, but have you Juvenile just shot a
- 10:19Speaker 3: video from four hundred degrees earlier this year? Yeah, I
- 10:22Speaker 3: mean we're talking about that was nineteen ninety nine. Yeah,
- 10:25Speaker 3: and he just shot and re released the video. Do
- 10:28Speaker 3: you think it's a good idea to be a sexy
- 10:29Speaker 3: lady video you?
- 10:30Speaker 1: I feel like you have to do anyboy. We got
- 10:31Speaker 1: to do a sexy lady video.
- 10:34Speaker 3: Bro, especially if you're gonna do I mean, I don't
- 10:37Speaker 3: I'm necessary say because you're always on the road, so
- 10:39Speaker 3: you're always doing shows. Oh yeah, but I think you said, Oh,
- 10:42Speaker 3: I think for in twenty twenty six, Yeah, the twenty
- 10:45Speaker 3: year anniversary.
- 10:46Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, you guys should get that in the can.
- 10:49Speaker 3: That'd be sick drop it and then you could drop
- 10:51Speaker 3: like a special commemorative Yeah, think just for the fans.
- 10:55Speaker 4: I would like that. I think it's beautiful. Good with Kine,
- 10:58Speaker 4: with djk oh yeah, we're brothers. Oh yeah, yeah yeah,
- 11:01Speaker 4: then then what are you doing? Yeah, yeah, you got to.
- 11:04Speaker 4: But I would do it in two years.
- 11:07Speaker 3: Drop it in two years on the anniversary of Because
- 11:10Speaker 3: that's crazy.
- 11:10Speaker 4: That's crazy that that song.
- 11:12Speaker 1: Why don't you sponsor it that we can put executive
- 11:14Speaker 1: produced by Bootleg I get some sponsors for you.
- 11:18Speaker 4: You said odd socks and beyond the.
- 11:20Speaker 3: Odds that motherfucker shots of hard Dean. Yeah, but no,
- 11:26Speaker 3: I think that'd be dope.
- 11:27Speaker 4: Though, that would be dope. That would be dope.
- 11:29Speaker 1: Uh. You know, of the of the eleven songs on
- 11:32Speaker 1: the album, I have a video done for all of
- 11:35Speaker 1: them except one except two.
- 11:37Speaker 4: Wow.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Yeah, that's crazy and we're working on those as well.
- 11:40Speaker 4: And how are you going to roll them all out?
- 11:42Speaker 1: Just gonna space them ount space them out. I mean
- 11:44Speaker 1: by Christmas, everything will be out.
- 11:47Speaker 3: You you got Jenny six nine on the album I
- 11:49Speaker 3: remember you and I had a conversation about you guys
- 11:51Speaker 3: potentially because you maybe working together on like some official
- 11:55Speaker 3: music through your label.
- 11:56Speaker 4: Yeh, that's something you guys ever worked out?
- 11:59Speaker 1: You know, I her to sign her to the label
- 12:01Speaker 1: and kind of a guide the the the brand, the
- 12:05Speaker 1: Jenny six y nine brand. You know. I had a
- 12:08Speaker 1: vision to kind of make it like a modern day
- 12:10Speaker 1: version of what j Lo was, you know what I'm saying,
- 12:13Speaker 1: in her in her era. But Jenny's got her own ideas,
- 12:16Speaker 1: and every artist does. She's got her own ideas. And
- 12:19Speaker 1: I told her, you know, my I guess my style
- 12:22Speaker 1: is not as as U ratchet, you know, and Jenny
- 12:26Speaker 1: likes the you know, she has a ratchet brand. I'll say.
- 12:31Speaker 3: I mean, look, I think she's dope. Yeah, I like
- 12:34Speaker 3: I like that. What was that record she had?
- 12:37Speaker 4: Was it with you? Was it the Riverside? Riverside?
- 12:39Speaker 1: I wrote that one.
- 12:40Speaker 4: Yeah, that's it was hard.
- 12:41Speaker 1: Yeah it was gang banging. Yeah yeah, Riverside loved it,
- 12:45Speaker 1: you know, dropped it. It was on my label, that was
- 12:48Speaker 1: on your label. Yeah, we got two records together, and
- 12:52Speaker 1: the new ones on my and the other the new
- 12:53Speaker 1: ones on my.
- 12:54Speaker 4: Album can You Can You Know?
- 12:56Speaker 3: It's it's it's interesting because you've kind of been a
- 13:00Speaker 3: part of almost every era of what we would consider
- 13:03Speaker 3: like the different eras of.
- 13:08Speaker 4: Mexican hip hop.
- 13:09Speaker 3: Yeah, and I feel like in twenty twenty four it's
- 13:12Speaker 3: never been more thriving. It feels like, you know, there's
- 13:16Speaker 3: so much energy, there's so much you know, whatever you're
- 13:19Speaker 3: looking for, there's that. And artists are getting signed to
- 13:25Speaker 3: major labels. Yeah, you've got a guy like Mexicano or
- 13:27Speaker 3: Tea going gold, going platinum over and obviously you know
- 13:30Speaker 3: a guy like Lefty gun Play who's going crazy. And
- 13:33Speaker 3: it feels like it's it's kind of like that. I mean,
- 13:36Speaker 3: it's it's it's the best time because it feels like
- 13:39Speaker 3: the music industry is finally When I say the music industry,
- 13:42Speaker 3: I mean people in New York, people who are like
- 13:44Speaker 3: signed everywhere. The major label folks are really looking at
- 13:47Speaker 3: what's going on. Why do you think that the timing
- 13:51Speaker 3: is finally kind of coming together for Mexicans and hip
- 13:54Speaker 3: hop perseverance?
- 13:56Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, we come from from a background where
- 13:59Speaker 1: no matter well, we're never going to stop trying, whether
- 14:01Speaker 1: you work in the fields, whether you work as a
- 14:04Speaker 1: construction worker, whatever it is.
- 14:07Speaker 4: Mexicans don't give up. Yeah.
- 14:09Speaker 1: And when I say Mexicans, the whole world that doesn't
- 14:11Speaker 1: know that there's a difference between a Mexican from Mexico
- 14:14Speaker 1: and a Mexican from America. I talked, I'm talking about
- 14:18Speaker 1: all of us. I'm talking about all of us. But
- 14:20Speaker 1: that's why I went with the word Chicano, because I
- 14:22Speaker 1: think that that describes my demo a little bit better
- 14:27Speaker 1: than just saying Mexican, because I was born in Mexico,
- 14:30Speaker 1: but I feel more Chicano, you know, kind of like
- 14:32Speaker 1: Pac he was born in New York, but he read
- 14:34Speaker 1: the West Coast, you know what I'm saying. So, but
- 14:37Speaker 1: I think it's because of perseverance. You know, the one
- 14:40Speaker 1: that Corrido Dumbalos took off in twenty twenty during the pandemic.
- 14:44Speaker 4: It wasn't planned, it was organic.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Right, you know. And I think that was one of
- 14:49Speaker 1: the things that kicked off the whole domino.
- 14:51Speaker 3: Of No for sure, because it's like I think I
- 14:53Speaker 3: was talking to jop and he was saying four out
- 14:56Speaker 3: of the five top Latin artists were all Mexican. Yeah
- 15:01Speaker 3: on Spotify, and the one who wasn't was Bad Bunny exactly.
- 15:05Speaker 3: And I was like, damn Like and then, like you said,
- 15:07Speaker 3: the corrido shit is like you know, like growing up
- 15:10Speaker 3: in Phoenix, DJ and Jaguars, like we had to play
- 15:12Speaker 3: all that shit, of course, but it's crazy that it's
- 15:15Speaker 3: like now, it's like it's so big, it's it's it's
- 15:18Speaker 3: and a lot of these like I was telling Jop,
- 15:20Speaker 3: I was like, man, y'all look like rappers for real.
- 15:23Speaker 3: Like these dudes got double cups and chains.
- 15:26Speaker 4: It's it's a clash of cultures for sure. It's a
- 15:28Speaker 4: clash of cultures. And then you got the kid Hobby
- 15:30Speaker 4: from Phoenix.
- 15:31Speaker 1: Amazing. That kid is so on fire.
- 15:33Speaker 4: He is killing it so on fire.
- 15:35Speaker 3: I remember Alexis maj put me onto him three or
- 15:38Speaker 3: four years ago when he was like a like, I
- 15:39Speaker 3: don't know, probably fourteen thirteen something.
- 15:42Speaker 1: You know what it is about this whole movement, keV
- 15:45Speaker 1: Is it's not just bilingual. It's by cultural, right, and
- 15:49Speaker 1: so not everyone's by cultural, not that he's now by
- 15:54Speaker 1: cultural because he came and got the swag like the
- 15:56Speaker 1: interview you know, you and Jop had so he came
- 15:59Speaker 1: and got the hip hop swag from the American Mexicans,
- 16:02Speaker 1: the chicanom right, you see what I'm saying. And he said, man,
- 16:05Speaker 1: this is.
- 16:05Speaker 4: Cool, this is cool.
- 16:07Speaker 1: So now it's just it's just it's a big melting pot,
- 16:09Speaker 1: you know. And I love Corridos too. You know my
- 16:11Speaker 1: son sings Colriedos.
- 16:13Speaker 3: Say you have your son on your album? Yeah, what was?
- 16:15Speaker 3: Because your son's been also rolling with you a lot,
- 16:18Speaker 3: like yeah, he's been he's been been to your shows.
- 16:20Speaker 4: He's there helping out.
- 16:21Speaker 1: He's my merch guy. Yeah, so he's going from the
- 16:24Speaker 1: merch table to the stage.
- 16:27Speaker 3: Which son of yours was also writing scooters? Was it
- 16:29Speaker 3: him or was it.
- 16:29Speaker 4: He's They were both right shooters. But he's the pro
- 16:32Speaker 4: because there was some serious fucking scooter.
- 16:34Speaker 1: Yeah, he's going to compete in Rome, oh ship next month,
- 16:37Speaker 1: like on a razor. Yeah that's a bad word, bro,
- 16:42Speaker 1: always that I don't know the culture is is, but
- 16:46Speaker 1: but is razor like frown upon? It's not calling a
- 16:49Speaker 1: BMX or a Huffey bike.
- 16:51Speaker 4: You you know what I'm saying.
- 16:52Speaker 1: Oh, you're like on a Hoffey Right, He's like, Okay,
- 16:56Speaker 1: I get it.
- 16:56Speaker 4: I guess that's what Grandma got you for Christmas. And
- 16:58Speaker 4: what's it like, because I've heard a lot of your
- 17:00Speaker 4: son stuff. He's obviously shooting videos and stuff.
- 17:02Speaker 3: He's signed to you, Like, what's that been like to
- 17:04Speaker 3: kind of guide him into the music ship and like
- 17:07Speaker 3: he's doing that kind of music which is hot and
- 17:09Speaker 3: like the music sounds really good.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a lot of fun. It's a lot of
- 17:13Speaker 1: fun because we genuinely love the music. Like I told you,
- 17:15Speaker 1: we're bicultural, you know, when we're having a gosada at
- 17:19Speaker 1: my sister in laws or at my mother in laws
- 17:21Speaker 1: or that's the music we're listening to, you know, in
- 17:24Speaker 1: addition to the hip hop, the classics, the old school stuff,
- 17:29Speaker 1: and so it's real. It's it's not just like, oh,
- 17:31Speaker 1: let's let's chase this lane. That's really who he is.
- 17:34Speaker 1: That's really who he is, you know what I'm saying.
- 17:37Speaker 4: That's dope, man.
- 17:38Speaker 3: Is there is there any part of like being having
- 17:42Speaker 3: your son signed to you where he like fights back
- 17:45Speaker 3: on you, Like, do you guys have any battles where
- 17:47Speaker 3: you just got.
- 17:48Speaker 4: To let him win one?
- 17:49Speaker 1: No, no, No, we don't see.
- 17:50Speaker 3: Does he trust kind of like your vision because you
- 17:52Speaker 3: obviously you're you've built this independent.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Well check this out, bootleg. Being an artist. Being an artist,
- 17:58Speaker 1: I've already gone through all the feelings that are young
- 18:00Speaker 1: artists has gone through. So when they act a certain way,
- 18:03Speaker 1: whether it's him or Jay Rocks to her.
- 18:06Speaker 4: By the way, she's doing great.
- 18:07Speaker 1: She's doing amazing. I understand them because it comes from
- 18:10Speaker 1: an artistic point of view, you know what I'm saying.
- 18:12Speaker 1: And so I let him. I let him. But on
- 18:15Speaker 1: the few issues that I've pushed him on, he's taken.
- 18:18Speaker 1: He's taking my advice and it's paid off. He was
- 18:21Speaker 1: just telling me yesterday, Yo, Pops, I got this new
- 18:23Speaker 1: chord progression. He didn't know, you know what a chord
- 18:26Speaker 1: was when we started, you know. So now he's on
- 18:28Speaker 1: a guitar finding what works best.
- 18:30Speaker 4: Does he record at home? Yeah, because you got the
- 18:32Speaker 4: home studio.
- 18:33Speaker 1: I got a home studio. He's got a home studio
- 18:35Speaker 1: and h and we go everywhere and record as well.
- 18:39Speaker 4: Super dope man. And then he's is he opening up
- 18:41Speaker 4: most of the shows.
- 18:42Speaker 1: He doesn't open up. Right now, we breaking in the
- 18:45Speaker 1: middle of my set and he does two songs, so
- 18:47Speaker 1: we're also easing them into the stage as well.
- 18:50Speaker 4: Yo, what's it like being like because how many days
- 18:53Speaker 4: a year are you doing all of them? You know
- 18:55Speaker 4: what I'm saying? Like if you had, like guess it's
- 18:57Speaker 4: like one hundred days a year.
- 18:58Speaker 1: Yeah, we average one hundred constants a Year's so crazy?
- 19:00Speaker 4: Yeah, and what do you think?
- 19:02Speaker 3: What like like you being busier now on the road
- 19:05Speaker 3: than ever. And it's so funny because like sometimes I
- 19:10Speaker 3: have to educate people who aren't hip to what you
- 19:12Speaker 3: what you got going on? Yeah here in La like
- 19:14Speaker 3: not like people who know no you know, yeah, but
- 19:18Speaker 3: like quote unquote industry people, I'd be like, yeah, Magic
- 19:20Speaker 3: sells off the Novo like twice a year, and they'll
- 19:22Speaker 3: be like what the Novo And I'm like yeah, like yes,
- 19:25Speaker 3: like you know, but it's crazy, Like what would you
- 19:28Speaker 3: attribute the the because there's something about what you've built
- 19:35Speaker 3: where if there's a festival, yoah, we're gonna put Magic
- 19:38Speaker 3: on the festival. I mean you just performed out what
- 19:40Speaker 3: was the thing you just did in downtown La a
- 19:42Speaker 3: few weeks ago?
- 19:42Speaker 1: Downtown La was it's called Persian Square. Yeah, it's a
- 19:46Speaker 1: city event that they put on and they say, sign
- 19:49Speaker 1: up for the guest list. You can get in free,
- 19:51Speaker 1: but you have to be twenty one because it's you know,
- 19:53Speaker 1: it's just it was crazy. It was crazy. It had
- 19:56Speaker 1: to turn two thousand people away, so it capped out
- 19:59Speaker 1: at like seven thousand. They said no more, so they
- 20:02Speaker 1: turned people away, and you know, the fans get mad
- 20:04Speaker 1: because they register. Sure, but a lot of times when
- 20:07Speaker 1: you register for a free event, you know from working
- 20:09Speaker 1: at radio.
- 20:10Speaker 3: It's first first come for serve exactly once it hits capacity. Yes, yes,
- 20:14Speaker 3: but I was gonna say, like, you know, you had
- 20:16Speaker 3: you had mentioned kind of like going through the era
- 20:19Speaker 3: of your career where you had to do some of
- 20:20Speaker 3: the radio shit, which I think that I don't think
- 20:23Speaker 3: a lot of that's happening anymore, to be fair, because
- 20:25Speaker 3: radio shows are kind.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Of Yeah, it's tough.
- 20:27Speaker 4: It's tough.
- 20:29Speaker 1: I like radio because that's where I came from. That's
- 20:31Speaker 1: what made my original music hits. But I know it
- 20:35Speaker 1: doesn't have the same impact as as TikTok.
- 20:38Speaker 3: But I feel like now you're like you're kind of like, uh,
- 20:42Speaker 3: orchestrating a lot of your own shit, Like like you're
- 20:45Speaker 3: literally on the side of the stage, like when I
- 20:48Speaker 3: saw you when you when you had them be writers
- 20:51Speaker 3: guys back out on on on on the road.
- 20:53Speaker 1: The Reunion tour in twenty nineteen.
- 20:54Speaker 4: Yeah, and it was like.
- 20:56Speaker 3: You and little Rob I think was your main support
- 20:58Speaker 3: at the note, but you were like like during Rob's performance,
- 21:02Speaker 3: you were like helping with what was going on on
- 21:04Speaker 3: the screen.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Yes, yes, I'm hands on, but yeah, but like a
- 21:07Speaker 1: lot of the shows you do are you're booking them yourself, right, Yeah,
- 21:11Speaker 1: it's like you and me and Big d are the
- 21:13Speaker 1: promoters a big D. Yeah, me and Big d are
- 21:15Speaker 1: the promoters behind it. It's a little two man operation.
- 21:18Speaker 4: But it works, no, for sure.
- 21:20Speaker 3: And I feel like more artists with real fans should
- 21:23Speaker 3: do that shit instead of depending on like somebody in
- 21:25Speaker 3: like a local market or live.
- 21:27Speaker 4: Nation to book you.
- 21:28Speaker 1: I advise it because you know, if you let a
- 21:30Speaker 1: big promoter get a hold of you, they're going to
- 21:32Speaker 1: give you. Then I say, okay, we'll give you a
- 21:33Speaker 1: million dollars for the tour, and the tour will make
- 21:36Speaker 1: five million.
- 21:37Speaker 4: And yeah, they'll give you an advance.
- 21:39Speaker 1: You got your MILLI, you got Yourmelli already, And then
- 21:41Speaker 1: they bite you off of that. Remember the hotels and.
- 21:44Speaker 4: So it's a writer.
- 21:45Speaker 1: Yeah, like a like I just saw like a record country.
- 21:47Speaker 3: Yeah, John Bellyon just did it. I just saw him
- 21:50Speaker 3: on talking about it. He signed to deal with Live
- 21:51Speaker 3: Nation and he said he took an advance on however
- 21:54Speaker 3: many shows he had to do, right, Yeah, And he
- 21:56Speaker 3: said that when he got the invoices, he was like,
- 22:00Speaker 3: you know, they're charging me for toilet paper.
- 22:02Speaker 4: Like they're charging me for like stuff I don't eat on.
- 22:05Speaker 1: The road, Fynasy bottles eight free.
- 22:07Speaker 3: He's like, I don't even eat this ship. But every
- 22:09Speaker 3: venue you have to put a writer. Yeah, And he's like, dude,
- 22:12Speaker 3: he brought himself out of his deal with Live Nation.
- 22:14Speaker 1: That's crazy. Yeah, we never got a deal like that,
- 22:17Speaker 1: and which is for the better because we learned the
- 22:20Speaker 1: hard Nune.
- 22:20Speaker 4: But you also, I mean you do a lot of
- 22:21Speaker 4: stuff with like a bike. Bobby d shoutut to Bobby dede.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Byby my brother Bobby Fresh.
- 22:25Speaker 4: Yeah he's out. He's been murdering ship.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, Bobby, he don't play. He's serious. He's a
- 22:31Speaker 1: Chicago too, you know what I'm saying.
- 22:33Speaker 4: For sure, God blessed Chicanos. Talk to me about how
- 22:37Speaker 4: you have been, Like, can.
- 22:40Speaker 3: You give me a night, Like, what are your thoughts
- 22:41Speaker 3: being a guy from Arizona Because I've obviously always kind
- 22:45Speaker 3: of been like lightly hip to some of the politics
- 22:50Speaker 3: that happened in California, but not as much as before
- 22:52Speaker 3: I moved here. When I moved here, I was very
- 22:54Speaker 3: very like okay, because you know, in Arizona, like I
- 22:57Speaker 3: got cousins in prison, and you know, are stuff out
- 23:01Speaker 3: there is a lot different. Yeah, I feel like in California, Uh,
- 23:06Speaker 3: there's a lot of beef amongst other artists, yeah, or
- 23:10Speaker 3: Mexican like yeah, and and somehow you've always been able
- 23:13Speaker 3: to kind of like stay.
- 23:15Speaker 4: Clear of any of that drama.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Amen.
- 23:18Speaker 4: I think you know it speaks to you as a person.
- 23:21Speaker 1: Yeah, well my music was never that kind of you.
- 23:23Speaker 4: It was never that music.
- 23:24Speaker 3: But like you know, you're on the I'm sure, I'm
- 23:26Speaker 3: sure I come into California as much as you have.
- 23:27Speaker 3: But like, what are your thoughts just on like that
- 23:30Speaker 3: scene of like you know, because I was just talking
- 23:33Speaker 3: about this, like, Yo, I feel like there's so much
- 23:35Speaker 3: opportunity for the state of California. A lot of these
- 23:39Speaker 3: artists to move together. It's like it's like it's like
- 23:41Speaker 3: Lefty Gunplay worked with an artist from the north right.
- 23:44Speaker 3: It would like be huge, you know what I mean.
- 23:47Speaker 3: But it feels like there's like this huge invisible barrier.
- 23:50Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, from my point of view, that whole,
- 23:55Speaker 1: that whole, whether you're from southern Cali or Northern County,
- 23:58Speaker 1: all that man, that that's that's a touchy subject that
- 24:00Speaker 1: I've I've never gotten close to. But I think it's
- 24:04Speaker 1: it's deeper than just the streets. I think it comes
- 24:06Speaker 1: from the inside. I think from the prisons. They control it.
- 24:09Speaker 1: And if someone's trying to be a good Samaritan and then
- 24:11Speaker 1: bring everybody together, the guys on the inside are calling
- 24:14Speaker 1: the shot, saying you know, no till yes.
- 24:17Speaker 3: I feel like Goldts gets held and he's like, I'm like,
- 24:19Speaker 3: this guy's trying to make everybody work together.
- 24:21Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, there you go.
- 24:22Speaker 4: Toe's a great guy. Yeah, TOAs is a good dude.
- 24:25Speaker 1: When he comes to Phoenix, we play ball and he's
- 24:27Speaker 1: promising with my ass on the court next time.
- 24:29Speaker 4: For people who don't know magic who you got like some.
- 24:33Speaker 1: A little bit, I ain't no baby bast hoof.
- 24:35Speaker 4: Too for sure.
- 24:37Speaker 3: How fun has it been just being on the road
- 24:39Speaker 3: with Bash as much as you guys hit the road together.
- 24:41Speaker 4: Man, it's dope.
- 24:42Speaker 1: He calls me benchet magic, that's his word. Yeah, it's
- 24:46Speaker 1: that's dope. Man. Bash knows that we've already got like
- 24:50Speaker 1: everything in place. It's a protocol for our concerts, and
- 24:53Speaker 1: all he needs to know is what time do I
- 24:55Speaker 1: go on?
- 24:56Speaker 4: I feel like, would you guys do a joint project? Man?
- 25:01Speaker 1: We just we just did one that was super incredible
- 25:04Speaker 1: and then at the last minute of Renter was thrown
- 25:07Speaker 1: in the program. I can't tell you the full details.
- 25:09Speaker 4: So you guys are supposed to do.
- 25:11Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it just all fell apart.
- 25:13Speaker 4: So the music's been recorded.
- 25:15Speaker 1: It wasn't a whole album. It was just one song.
- 25:17Speaker 4: So just one song.
- 25:18Speaker 1: It was one song and it fell apart at the end.
- 25:20Speaker 1: That's a music video. It fell apart. Yes, yeah, I can't.
- 25:25Speaker 1: I can't tell you the whole thing because because we're family,
- 25:27Speaker 1: right and it's family business. But that's what happened, and
- 25:30Speaker 1: it broke my heart. Bro.
- 25:31Speaker 3: I feel like, if you guys did like a song
- 25:33Speaker 3: album and that's crazy. I mean, you guys could tour
- 25:35Speaker 3: off that for like a whole other year, Like.
- 25:37Speaker 1: We're already touring for I got dates in October next year. Bro, Yeah,
- 25:43Speaker 1: that's no problem there, My son Daniel tells me. He says, pops,
- 25:47Speaker 1: stop touring, take a trip, go overseas, get inspired by
- 25:52Speaker 1: something different, and come back a whole new person.
- 25:55Speaker 4: Yeah. I like that mentality. Take a little break. Yeah.
- 25:59Speaker 3: I mean, but look, man, and if the dates are dating,
- 26:01Speaker 3: and then you got your protocol figured out like you've,
- 26:03Speaker 3: you've you're you're the most responsible artist I've ever seen
- 26:07Speaker 3: on the road in my life.
- 26:08Speaker 4: Right. You know, most people come to come to town,
- 26:10Speaker 4: they want to hang out, they get drunk, they want
- 26:12Speaker 4: to party. Magic's in and he's out.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, and that's what it is. I'm here for
- 26:18Speaker 1: the music, the business, and the fans.
- 26:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 26:20Speaker 1: I'm not here, you know, to hold around to get drunk,
- 26:24Speaker 1: none of that stuff. That's never been my thing, you know.
- 26:28Speaker 1: I've always had a problem when they take something something
- 26:31Speaker 1: awful and they put a good name on it and
- 26:34Speaker 1: then and then make you eat the garbage because it's
- 26:36Speaker 1: got a pretty name, like getting drunk, killing somebody, drinking
- 26:40Speaker 1: and driving, somebody taking a knife at you, which my
- 26:44Speaker 1: nephew's gone through it because they were drunk and had
- 26:47Speaker 1: an argument at a cemetery. But that's just an awful
- 26:52Speaker 1: thing that causes bad things. And then they call it, oh,
- 26:55Speaker 1: it's partying. Yeah, you see, they put a pretty name
- 26:57Speaker 1: on a horrible thing, right, And I have a problem
- 27:02Speaker 1: with that.
- 27:02Speaker 4: You know.
- 27:02Speaker 1: I've seen coming from the projects and seeing you know,
- 27:06Speaker 1: men beat their wives and seeing family fall apart, and
- 27:10Speaker 1: and I just, man, I just I can't sit with it.
- 27:14Speaker 1: I can't sit with it. Uh. And and you know,
- 27:16Speaker 1: this is probably one of the reasons why my fans
- 27:19Speaker 1: continue to come back, because that's not what we push.
- 27:22Speaker 1: You're not gonna catch me, you know, uh in a
- 27:24Speaker 1: nightclub anymore.
- 27:25Speaker 4: That's just I mean, you're pushing love. Man.
- 27:27Speaker 3: I was always say you like you're you're pushing love
- 27:29Speaker 3: music like positivity.
- 27:30Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying.
- 27:32Speaker 1: Love is the best, Love is the most magic there is.
- 27:35Speaker 3: Brother, Yeah, talk to me about so I've had recently.
- 27:42Speaker 3: I wouldn't say I'm definitely not necessarily a I'm definitively
- 27:48Speaker 3: not a Trump supporter, but I'm definitely not a fucking
- 27:50Speaker 3: Biden supporter anymore. And I've seen I've seen you up
- 27:52Speaker 3: under the comments on a lot of posts. Uh huh
- 27:56Speaker 3: politically where like like because because I think a lot
- 27:58Speaker 3: of people will cast the right as racist. Yeah, and
- 28:04Speaker 3: then the left is the party of the love. And
- 28:08Speaker 3: I think that at the end of the day, I
- 28:10Speaker 3: think we've all been guilty of like writing off either side.
- 28:15Speaker 4: Yeah, what are your thoughts on? Just like because I've
- 28:19Speaker 4: seen you in the comments, I get hell for it,
- 28:22Speaker 4: you get help for it. But just like you know,
- 28:25Speaker 4: with Trump, I feel like, you know, I think that
- 28:28Speaker 4: we have like a four year example of him being president.
- 28:34Speaker 1: We still we already know what it was like and
- 28:36Speaker 1: we didn't get in any New Wars, and now we
- 28:38Speaker 1: know what it was like under Biden too.
- 28:40Speaker 4: Right, exactly right.
- 28:41Speaker 3: So you know I always tell people, I'm like, look, man,
- 28:44Speaker 3: like either side is not the boogey man. We're still here, right,
- 28:47Speaker 3: he didn't take over the government he left, you know
- 28:50Speaker 3: what I mean, Like we didn't.
- 28:51Speaker 4: We weren't in any New Wars.
- 28:52Speaker 3: Like it's it's okay to give credit where credits due.
- 28:57Speaker 3: I think some people get wrapped up in the meanness.
- 28:59Speaker 1: Of everybody tells me magic, don't talk politics, don't get
- 29:04Speaker 1: into politics. Don't do it. Don't start, you know, saying
- 29:08Speaker 1: you're a Trump supporter. But let me, let me just
- 29:10Speaker 1: bring it to the very basic you know, is I
- 29:14Speaker 1: was born in Mexico, bro, and so I came to America.
- 29:18Speaker 1: And when my dad and when my dad and mom
- 29:20Speaker 1: broke up, the government took care of me. The government
- 29:23Speaker 1: gave us food stamps, The government gave us free cheese,
- 29:26Speaker 1: you know, powdered milk to survive. This is where I
- 29:31Speaker 1: come from, right, and so this this, this country gave
- 29:35Speaker 1: me something good. So obviously I love this country for
- 29:39Speaker 1: what it's given me. I'm living the American dream. Sure,
- 29:42Speaker 1: I'm living the American dream.
- 29:43Speaker 4: Quite literally because of because we have free enterprise.
- 29:47Speaker 1: You're living in the American dream.
- 29:49Speaker 4: Like this podcast.
- 29:50Speaker 1: You don't have to get a government permission to start
- 29:52Speaker 1: your podcast. So what the left is doing, they're moving
- 29:55Speaker 1: closer and closer to controlling everything. They're moving. You know,
- 29:58Speaker 1: when I say the left, I mean the democ Radit
- 30:00Speaker 1: partner right now. Okay, So that being said, that being said,
- 30:06Speaker 1: that's why I love to keep what was good for
- 30:10Speaker 1: this country. And a lot of people are emotionally driven,
- 30:14Speaker 1: and so when the left tells you.
- 30:15Speaker 4: Oh he's racist.
- 30:18Speaker 1: That gets you emotionally, like, oh my god, he said
- 30:21Speaker 1: this about blacks. Oh my god, he did this to
- 30:23Speaker 1: the Mexicans. Oh my god. He hates people that are
- 30:25Speaker 1: crossing the border. But the people that were crossing the
- 30:28Speaker 1: border when I came across, they really wanted the American dream.
- 30:31Speaker 1: The people that are crossing the border now they want
- 30:33Speaker 1: to murder Americans. You see what I'm saying. There's a
- 30:36Speaker 1: big difference of what's going on.
- 30:37Speaker 3: I think I think we got like like there's like
- 30:40Speaker 3: I think the one I just saw an interview with
- 30:42Speaker 3: the president of El Salvador, who has cleaned up El
- 30:46Speaker 3: salve Yes, he's.
- 30:48Speaker 1: G he went from the worst country in the world
- 30:51Speaker 1: to the best.
- 30:52Speaker 3: It was the most dangerous country in the Western Hemisphere,
- 30:54Speaker 3: more dangerous than Haiti, and now it is the safest
- 30:57Speaker 3: country in the Western Hemisphere with lower murder rates in
- 31:00Speaker 3: the United States.
- 31:01Speaker 4: Right.
- 31:01Speaker 3: And so what he did was anybody who was a
- 31:04Speaker 3: part of the two major gangs out there, Yeah, I
- 31:06Speaker 3: don't want to say them by name, but you know
- 31:08Speaker 3: they're all in jail.
- 31:09Speaker 4: Right.
- 31:09Speaker 3: But then he also in this interview, he did he
- 31:12Speaker 3: said anybody who was had been in America or.
- 31:18Speaker 4: Wanted to go back.
- 31:18Speaker 3: I just sent I send him back, like make your
- 31:21Speaker 3: way to Maria. And they're also and Amelia Rojas was
- 31:23Speaker 3: telling me that they also were doing that in Venezuela,
- 31:26Speaker 3: where certain people who had longer prison sentences, they'd let
- 31:29Speaker 3: him out as long.
- 31:30Speaker 1: As they asked the country they made.
- 31:32Speaker 4: They promised to make their way out of the countries. Crazy.
- 31:35Speaker 4: Now I'm not saying obviously.
- 31:37Speaker 3: You know, I've had people close to me that have
- 31:39Speaker 3: came over recently that are here for work.
- 31:41Speaker 4: You know, there is good people, but everybody there is
- 31:44Speaker 4: this huge spike of people coming in see that we've
- 31:47Speaker 4: never seen before.
- 31:48Speaker 1: Yeah, I explained this, and and and to somebody in
- 31:50Speaker 1: this way say, for instance, uh, you have a daughter.
- 31:55Speaker 1: You have a daughter, and she's beautiful. You want to
- 31:57Speaker 1: protect her, but there's somebody on the outside that wants
- 32:00Speaker 1: to get your daughter from you, Okay, and then they
- 32:04Speaker 1: tell they tell the daughter's mom. You know, Kevin's a piece.
- 32:07Speaker 1: You know how people are hating against the government, against America,
- 32:10Speaker 1: Like there's people burning flags of this great country.
- 32:14Speaker 4: Actually, I think a lot of that shits set up
- 32:15Speaker 4: to be fair.
- 32:16Speaker 1: And exactly that's exactly my point. Just so let's go
- 32:19Speaker 1: back to your daughter. Right, So there's an outsider who
- 32:21Speaker 1: wants to murder your daughter, who wants to probably rape
- 32:24Speaker 1: your daughter.
- 32:24Speaker 4: Yeah, because you had you.
- 32:26Speaker 1: Have a good family, you have a good country, you
- 32:27Speaker 1: have a good thing. And so what they do is
- 32:30Speaker 1: they first turn her against you. Your daddy's been doing this,
- 32:34Speaker 1: So that's what that's an agenda that's going on from
- 32:37Speaker 1: the outside so they can finally murder and rape your daughter.
- 32:41Speaker 1: Her name is America, right, Okay, you feel what I'm saying,
- 32:44Speaker 1: And that's the agenda that that really you know, you
- 32:47Speaker 1: know on radio, in radio, when they put songs on
- 32:50Speaker 1: the heavy rotation, you love them because you hear them
- 32:52Speaker 1: a lot.
- 32:52Speaker 4: That's called programming. Oh, that's what they do to us
- 32:54Speaker 4: with the news. The news is.
- 32:55Speaker 1: Programming people to hate their own country. Sure, you know,
- 32:59Speaker 1: to say whatever was good, they're gonna turn it into bad.
- 33:02Speaker 1: Even the Bible says that believe in the days where
- 33:04Speaker 1: good will be bad and bad will be good. We
- 33:07Speaker 1: have good artists praising the devil on their records, right right, right,
- 33:10Speaker 1: right right.
- 33:11Speaker 4: You know, this whole.
- 33:12Speaker 1: Agenda is serious and it's taking people's souls and lives,
- 33:16Speaker 1: and it's gonna ruin what was once a beautiful, free country.
- 33:19Speaker 4: That's why I support Trump. Yeah, I support I feel
- 33:24Speaker 4: like both.
- 33:24Speaker 3: If you look at everyone's donors on both sides, they're
- 33:28Speaker 3: pretty much the same, which to me is the problem.
- 33:30Speaker 4: Yeah, because they divide us on like this. The part
- 33:33Speaker 4: was accept except except.
- 33:36Speaker 1: What Donald Trump has called out George Sorols by name.
- 33:40Speaker 3: Yeah, I just want them to each tell Blackrock to
- 33:42Speaker 3: fuck off respectfully and Larry Fink.
- 33:44Speaker 4: But nonetheless they're all part of the same team. But
- 33:46Speaker 4: that's I mean, all the same.
- 33:50Speaker 1: They're running the world.
- 33:52Speaker 4: Yes, my way is what they do is.
- 33:54Speaker 1: They and Biden is their puppet.
- 33:56Speaker 3: They take the twenty percent of things we all disagree
- 33:59Speaker 3: on up right, whether it's racial stuff, whether it's gun control,
- 34:04Speaker 3: whether it's abortion. They put it in a ball and
- 34:06Speaker 3: they throw it and then everyone goes and chases it while.
- 34:08Speaker 1: Over here, yes, well it's divide and conquer right there.
- 34:12Speaker 4: And so that's what they did with your daughter, right,
- 34:14Speaker 4: They divided you guys.
- 34:15Speaker 1: Now they conquered you guys. So that's what they're doing
- 34:17Speaker 1: with America. They're separating everybody there, even staged protests that
- 34:23Speaker 1: are going on in colleges.
- 34:24Speaker 4: All that stuff is being well.
- 34:26Speaker 3: I feel like even like recently there was the pro Palestinian,
- 34:32Speaker 3: the protest gays Regazza.
- 34:34Speaker 4: That one, no, no, no, it was.
- 34:36Speaker 3: It was when Yahoo was at the Senate and there
- 34:39Speaker 3: was like they were protesting, but the dudes who were
- 34:42Speaker 3: like lighting shit on fire were like random white dudes.
- 34:45Speaker 3: They were hired who nobody could fucking find on the internet.
- 34:48Speaker 3: And there was brown people trying to stop the dude
- 34:51Speaker 3: from setting the flag on fire.
- 34:52Speaker 4: It was easy because they got but how was it
- 34:54Speaker 4: The cameras were ready for when the guys set the
- 34:56Speaker 4: fucking flag on fire.
- 34:58Speaker 1: They had more press than than that. And Yahoo thing.
- 35:00Speaker 3: Exactly crazy booms like you turned on CNN and it's
- 35:03Speaker 3: like you see this guy burning this flag.
- 35:05Speaker 1: But the programming is going on. Not only it was
- 35:08Speaker 1: easy for them to get there because the borders were open.
- 35:10Speaker 3: It's crazy, man, It's it's it's wild. Who are you
- 35:14Speaker 3: a fan of?
- 35:14Speaker 4: Man?
- 35:14Speaker 3: Obviously you got O T And Drody and Jenny six
- 35:17Speaker 3: nine on the album, But is there anybody else and
- 35:20Speaker 3: shots of Coyote? Is there anybody else who you're just like,
- 35:23Speaker 3: you know, wanting to work with from this newer generation
- 35:26Speaker 3: of artists.
- 35:27Speaker 1: I'm always down to work. I really want to get
- 35:29Speaker 1: a record in with I just I just forgot his name.
- 35:37Speaker 1: The hottest kid in l A. I just met him
- 35:38Speaker 1: not long ago. Lefty No, no, no, thet the real
- 35:42Speaker 1: he's really making like moves. He just did a record
- 35:45Speaker 1: with U with dres Oh, Roddy Rag Sorry, Rowdy man.
- 35:52Speaker 1: I I met him the other day. He's fire and
- 35:54Speaker 1: he was surprised that I knew he was.
- 35:57Speaker 4: I love Rowdy.
- 35:57Speaker 1: I want to get a record in with him and
- 35:59Speaker 1: with Dregs too. Rex Dope to get a record brother,
- 36:02Speaker 1: his brother.
- 36:02Speaker 4: Is popping y. What's this, I forget his name. What's
- 36:06Speaker 4: his name, Drex's.
- 36:08Speaker 1: Brother Negro something.
- 36:12Speaker 4: Yeah yeah no so yeah yeah.
- 36:15Speaker 1: I love Rowdy and I love drugs too. I like
- 36:17Speaker 1: their little movement when it comes to hip hop. But
- 36:19Speaker 1: my ultimate feature keV is really more r and b Ish,
- 36:23Speaker 1: more emcy magic ish, more like shadd is my ultimate.
- 36:29Speaker 3: That's the one concert if I could my dream concerts
- 36:32Speaker 3: to see her live. Of course, I don't know if
- 36:34Speaker 3: you ever tour again, but man shot a live.
- 36:38Speaker 1: Yeah, I think like back in. I want to say
- 36:41Speaker 1: two thousand I'm just say twenty fourteen for lack of
- 36:46Speaker 1: a better year. She had a concert coming up here
- 36:48Speaker 1: in Phoenix. We bought tickets and my wife said, I'm
- 36:52Speaker 1: gonna put them away so we don't lose them. She
- 36:54Speaker 1: lost the tickets and couldn't find them, and three years,
- 36:57Speaker 1: four maybe four years after the concerts, she's like, oh,
- 36:59Speaker 1: here's they were my sock drawer.
- 37:01Speaker 3: That's crazy. How active are you? Obviously you have your son,
- 37:04Speaker 3: you have Jay Rocks. How active are you in trying
- 37:08Speaker 3: to just bring new music to your label, whether it's
- 37:11Speaker 3: a single deal.
- 37:12Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, I'm about quality, not quantity. So I'm
- 37:15Speaker 1: not like trying to chase everybody. Not only that. Just
- 37:19Speaker 1: like I told you earlier with Jenny, I have a
- 37:22Speaker 1: moral meter, you know, if the dudes, if the dudes
- 37:25Speaker 1: get getting on the mic and I can't play it
- 37:26Speaker 1: for my mom, I can't play it at the family barbecue.
- 37:31Speaker 1: Rather not. I'm not starving just to make a little
- 37:34Speaker 1: bit of money off of anybody. I'm not a major label,
- 37:37Speaker 1: you know. I just rather put quality than quantity. So
- 37:40Speaker 1: if somebody really stands out like Jay Rocks did and
- 37:43Speaker 1: impresses me, and you know, I might take a chance
- 37:47Speaker 1: on that, because it takes a lot to really develop
- 37:52Speaker 1: an artist. Artist development is not easy. It takes long
- 37:55Speaker 1: branding an artist, learning how to brand and teaching them
- 37:58Speaker 1: all these things as well. It's not easy. And everyone
- 38:01Speaker 1: comes in with a mindset already. So so you're obviously
- 38:04Speaker 1: not going to hear any any street gang rap on
- 38:06Speaker 1: my label and it's not going to happen because I
- 38:08Speaker 1: don't I don't need to be in that world.
- 38:10Speaker 4: Not for sure, And it's not it wouldn't be true
- 38:12Speaker 4: to what you do.
- 38:12Speaker 1: It's not true to me. Yeah, you're sure, you know.
- 38:14Speaker 3: Yo, You've were kind of the I feel like you
- 38:17Speaker 3: were going live with your fans. Before going live with
- 38:19Speaker 3: your fans was a thing, yes on Facebook. It was
- 38:22Speaker 3: on Facebook, yes, And now obviously everybody goes live on
- 38:26Speaker 3: indem Yes, So it's like it's like obviously it's like expected.
- 38:30Speaker 4: Yeah, how much.
- 38:32Speaker 3: Like are you noticing like new because because you go
- 38:36Speaker 3: to one of your shows and they'll.
- 38:37Speaker 4: Be like like a lot of young people there.
- 38:40Speaker 1: Eighty percent of my crowd are like fourteen to twenty five.
- 38:45Speaker 3: And so it's it's crazy to think that, like as
- 38:48Speaker 3: somebody who's been out for thirty years, right, Yeah, that
- 38:50Speaker 3: you're able to still gain these new fans. What are
- 38:53Speaker 3: what are the things you're doing? Is it the is
- 38:55Speaker 3: it the parents? Is it the social media? Like you
- 38:57Speaker 3: know some parents are playing in the car.
- 38:58Speaker 1: I think it's a combination of that. But of the
- 39:01Speaker 1: one of the things that everybody still tells me. Most
- 39:04Speaker 1: of my fans, I watch your TikTok every time you
- 39:07Speaker 1: go live. Wow, So I tik talk live, TikTok Live.
- 39:10Speaker 1: It used to be Facebook, but Facebook got greedy with
- 39:13Speaker 1: the audience and they started capping the audience smaller and
- 39:15Speaker 1: smaller and smaller. They want you to spend money on
- 39:18Speaker 1: them instead of giving you your actual followers. You know,
- 39:20Speaker 1: I got one point four million followers on there, and
- 39:23Speaker 1: and if I put up a post, I get eight likes.
- 39:26Speaker 3: No, Facebook's the worst because they want you to they
- 39:28Speaker 3: want you to press the ad on them.
- 39:29Speaker 1: Yeah, so the virality factor is better on TikTok right now.
- 39:34Speaker 1: It could change, It could change. And so yeah, my
- 39:38Speaker 1: fans catch me on TikTok live and I take phone
- 39:40Speaker 1: calls live.
- 39:41Speaker 4: Which is kind of dope. But radio, Yeah, it's like.
- 39:43Speaker 1: Old school radio and they call in and they get
- 39:45Speaker 1: so excited.
- 39:46Speaker 4: Oh my god, I died like three hundred times. You
- 39:49Speaker 4: picked up.
- 39:50Speaker 1: That just feels so good.
- 39:51Speaker 4: You know you got like a separate cell phone line
- 39:53Speaker 4: for that.
- 39:53Speaker 1: I got four lines, four of them. Yeah, I got
- 39:55Speaker 1: four lines in my studio and they rotate. Obviously we
- 39:58Speaker 1: had just one line. It would get crowded, wouldn't.
- 40:00Speaker 4: Oh, I bet that's dope. What has been like for
- 40:03Speaker 4: you so far?
- 40:04Speaker 3: Your favorite era of your career because you've done the
- 40:07Speaker 3: low Rider shows, when Low Writer shows were crazy, Yeah,
- 40:10Speaker 3: all the way up into doing like these newer shows
- 40:12Speaker 3: with Basher with them be Riders. Like, what's been kind
- 40:14Speaker 3: of like your favorite era of your career?
- 40:15Speaker 1: My favorite era is when I was starting going from
- 40:18Speaker 1: the Swap Meet to getting my first album on right,
- 40:23Speaker 1: you know, the coming out the Phex the Lost and Love.
- 40:26Speaker 1: That was my favorite artistic era. This is my favorite
- 40:29Speaker 1: era now because I'm in full control m So. I
- 40:33Speaker 1: went through eras where people were robbing me and making
- 40:35Speaker 1: millions off of this and that and dividing my group.
- 40:38Speaker 1: It was just so much dividing and conquer a bunch
- 40:41Speaker 1: of that. But this is my favorite now because I'm
- 40:43Speaker 1: really in the driver's seat and I like that. I
- 40:46Speaker 1: like I'm a control freak.
- 40:47Speaker 4: Call shots.
- 40:48Speaker 1: Yes, yes, are.
- 40:50Speaker 4: You still doing the makeup and all that good stuff?
- 40:52Speaker 1: Absolutely?
- 40:53Speaker 4: Yeah. I would say, is there is there anything new
- 40:55Speaker 4: that you've id to the line? That's yes.
- 40:57Speaker 1: Before Christmas, Me and Jay Rox have a collapse palette
- 41:00Speaker 1: coming that is phenomenal. It's phenomenal. We worked on it
- 41:04Speaker 1: so hard. It's taken about a year to develop because
- 41:07Speaker 1: of the detailed intricacies. It's not just your average palette.
- 41:10Speaker 1: It's a collector's item.
- 41:12Speaker 4: So you got the makeup, you have us, the Bluetooth speakers, Bluetooth.
- 41:16Speaker 4: What else is what else? The hoodies go good?
- 41:20Speaker 1: The beanies go good? What else we got on the website?
- 41:25Speaker 4: Oh?
- 41:26Speaker 1: The tumblers, the diamond tumblrs.
- 41:27Speaker 4: You got the tumblrs.
- 41:28Speaker 1: Yeah, they gang bang, they go, they do good.
- 41:31Speaker 4: I bet hey yo yo ma.
- 41:33Speaker 1: I mean everybody drinks Starbucks.
- 41:36Speaker 4: I just get the cup from Starbucks I need to
- 41:37Speaker 4: get I do have a tumble.
- 41:38Speaker 1: Girls like to have their own personal right, you know
- 41:41Speaker 1: what I'm saying. For sure, you know you don't want
- 41:43Speaker 1: to be like on a straw with nobody else's lips.
- 41:45Speaker 3: They're going it, you know, what what's something that you know,
- 41:50Speaker 3: you and a NBI riders. You guys did the reunion era,
- 41:55Speaker 3: which was about it.
- 41:56Speaker 4: I feel like it was one year a year.
- 41:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I know it's twenty nineteen because we're to go
- 42:00Speaker 1: into twenty twenty. And then they pulled a plug on us.
- 42:03Speaker 3: Yeah, I see them still doing stuff together. I just
- 42:08Speaker 3: saw them pop up on my timeline doing a live
- 42:11Speaker 3: show with just them two was How was that experience
- 42:14Speaker 3: because like you, I know, you guys had had like
- 42:16Speaker 3: a bit of a soured relationship.
- 42:18Speaker 1: Yeah past, I mean, you know what, God bless them. Yeah,
- 42:21Speaker 1: God bless them. That's all I can say on that.
- 42:23Speaker 1: You know, it's it's it's an old era.
- 42:26Speaker 4: But I'm saying it was you guys hitting the road
- 42:29Speaker 4: again together. Did it? Did it? Did it patch anything up?
- 42:32Speaker 4: Did it kind of show you?
- 42:33Speaker 3: Maybe I was I've been on the right path this
- 42:35Speaker 3: whole time, just focusing on my own thing.
- 42:36Speaker 4: Like one of the there's two reasons that I did it.
- 42:39Speaker 1: Number one is because they kept asking me, man, let's
- 42:41Speaker 1: get back together. Let's get back together. It'd be dope
- 42:44Speaker 1: if like my family could come to one of our
- 42:46Speaker 1: concerts because they hadn't been doing anything for us. So
- 42:48Speaker 1: that was one reason I did it, you know, from
- 42:50Speaker 1: from Okay you the homies want this, you know. And
- 42:53Speaker 1: the other reason is I thought it would take my
- 42:55Speaker 1: concert attendance level through the roof, that I'd go from
- 42:58Speaker 1: from a twenty five hundred seater to an arena. But
- 43:01Speaker 1: they just didn't do that.
- 43:02Speaker 4: It didn't happen.
- 43:03Speaker 1: They didn't do that. So we just and and fortunately
- 43:08Speaker 1: God stepped in. He threw the pandemic at us and
- 43:10Speaker 1: he says, look, look, look you'll find you're you're doing
- 43:13Speaker 1: fine by yourself.
- 43:14Speaker 4: And that's what happened. You guys would never do a
- 43:16Speaker 4: single together, was it?
- 43:17Speaker 1: Never again?
- 43:18Speaker 4: Never again?
- 43:18Speaker 1: Never again?
- 43:19Speaker 4: You're good?
- 43:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm good. I mean yeah, yeah, I'm good. I'm good.
- 43:24Speaker 3: Has anybody tried to sample your ship that you had
- 43:27Speaker 3: to stop because you didn't like it?
- 43:31Speaker 1: It's funny that you say that, but because usually if
- 43:33Speaker 1: they sample it, they'll ask they'll ask me to get
- 43:35Speaker 1: on it. So that's an automatic. You know. There's this
- 43:38Speaker 1: kid in New Mexico. He did his his version of
- 43:41Speaker 1: pretty Girl. It's called uh something about You Uh, featuring
- 43:45Speaker 1: his niece singing on the track. He sent it to
- 43:47Speaker 1: me and and I was I was happy that they
- 43:50Speaker 1: were doing it, and so they had no samples. I
- 43:52Speaker 1: gave him a verse and put some talk box on it,
- 43:55Speaker 1: and yeah, get just to have it.
- 43:56Speaker 4: It's a gift. That's a gift.
- 43:58Speaker 1: I don't need no royalties, I don't even know ride,
- 44:00Speaker 1: a credit, nothing have it. So to me, that's that's
- 44:03Speaker 1: a better thing to do is just give it a blessing.
- 44:07Speaker 1: And you know, because God sees everything.
- 44:09Speaker 3: Do you feel like I feel it's crazy because I
- 44:12Speaker 3: heard that bounce and I was like, Yo, this feels
- 44:14Speaker 3: like this feels like a fucking like a real hit, you.
- 44:17Speaker 4: Know what I'm saying. And it's got the talk box
- 44:19Speaker 4: on it.
- 44:20Speaker 1: Yes, that's a that's a that's a good compliment, thank you.
- 44:23Speaker 3: No, for sure, it's a banger, you know what I'm saying.
- 44:25Speaker 3: And like I feel like I feel like the talk
- 44:29Speaker 3: box is something that's kind of missing in hip hop now,
- 44:32Speaker 3: even on West Coast artist albums. I'm like, man, like,
- 44:35Speaker 3: I feel like that's missing, Like ye, like just a
- 44:37Speaker 3: little bit of that, like like Troutman love, you know
- 44:40Speaker 3: what I'm.
- 44:40Speaker 1: Saying, Yes, rest in peace, Roger Troutman, my hero. When
- 44:44Speaker 1: it comes to the talk box and I was talking
- 44:46Speaker 1: to to Coyote. I was talking to Coyote to Guappo,
- 44:50Speaker 1: and I was like, man, I think what you guys
- 44:52Speaker 1: need is like something similar to Bounce, but a little more,
- 44:56Speaker 1: a little more West Coast. Yes, and let's work on that.
- 45:00Speaker 1: Let's get that together for you. He goes, I'm down, magic,
- 45:02Speaker 1: let's do it. So I want to give them their
- 45:04Speaker 1: They're really explosive there, Johnny, Dang, you know.
- 45:06Speaker 4: I gotta be dope. That'd be dope.
- 45:08Speaker 2: Man.
- 45:09Speaker 4: Have you gotten a platinum or gold single? Yeah? I
- 45:12Speaker 4: feel like sexy ladies should be gone. I think it is.
- 45:14Speaker 1: I just don't look into those things.
- 45:16Speaker 4: You got it, you got it? Yeah, I think it's
- 45:19Speaker 4: has to be platinum by now.
- 45:21Speaker 1: Yeah, it probably is. It's probably is. You gotta just
- 45:24Speaker 1: I just don't look into it.
- 45:25Speaker 4: keV, you got to go on that. Ri I a
- 45:27Speaker 4: A yeah, I get it certified.
- 45:29Speaker 1: I just got so much going on, and I have so.
- 45:33Speaker 3: Many such a big symbol for like not just for
- 45:36Speaker 3: your career, but fe like Arizona.
- 45:39Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, I might look into it, like you're.
- 45:41Speaker 3: Gonna be able to be like, look, guys, I want
- 45:42Speaker 3: to plant them independently. I want to plant them independently.
- 45:45Speaker 4: Yes, yes, you know what I'm saying.
- 45:47Speaker 1: See, but and you're you're mentioning people that really for
- 45:52Speaker 1: my artistic career don't matter to me.
- 45:54Speaker 4: The fans matter, for sure.
- 45:56Speaker 3: I think like I think you're like a beacon of
- 45:57Speaker 3: hope for a lot of people in Phoenix.
- 46:00Speaker 1: Okay, I'll take that. That's a big compliment too, for sure.
- 46:03Speaker 3: I think like anytime we always talk about, like even
- 46:05Speaker 3: on my show, like we always talk about like who's
- 46:07Speaker 3: I'm like, you always got to put magic in the conversation.
- 46:09Speaker 3: Like to me, you're the goat of Arizona. Whether or
- 46:11Speaker 3: not people want to say, oh so and so wraps
- 46:13Speaker 3: better or whatever, whatever, it's like, it doesn't matter.
- 46:15Speaker 4: Like magic's taking like he's torn right now.
- 46:17Speaker 1: And that's hard for me because you're talking about rap
- 46:20Speaker 1: and I'm not.
- 46:21Speaker 4: Like like a rapper rap right, But to me, you still.
- 46:23Speaker 1: I'm not gonna get on. I'm gonna like and just
- 46:26Speaker 1: ah son No.
- 46:28Speaker 3: But I just mean in terms of like obviously what
- 46:30Speaker 3: you've meant and like you've shown more like you've put
- 46:34Speaker 3: more of a light on the city than anybody ever.
- 46:36Speaker 4: You're still toring.
- 46:37Speaker 3: There's not another artist out of Arizona's doing one hundred
- 46:39Speaker 3: dates a year selling out right.
- 46:41Speaker 1: Man, that I just take the compliment. I said thank you.
- 46:44Speaker 1: I just say thank you. But I'm not looking to
- 46:46Speaker 1: go announce that to anybody, right, that's this is not
- 46:49Speaker 1: my thing.
- 46:49Speaker 4: You got to get that plaque.
- 46:50Speaker 1: Man, It's not my thing.
- 46:51Speaker 4: It's there. It's any boy. Should we go for placks
- 46:53Speaker 4: or what it's it's the plaques exist. I have to
- 46:57Speaker 4: by the way, people care, bro, I'm telling you. People
- 47:00Speaker 4: are gonna look at that shit and be like, yo,
- 47:01Speaker 4: that's crazy.
- 47:02Speaker 1: This logo was originally made for his brand. Oh shit,
- 47:05Speaker 1: it was originally made for his brand.
- 47:07Speaker 4: And I liked this so much. Like that's the album cover.
- 47:09Speaker 1: He said, God Bless Northern because that's his brand, God Brest.
- 47:13Speaker 1: You know, he grew up on Northern and uh in
- 47:15Speaker 1: Seventh Street and Northern out there in Phoenix.
- 47:17Speaker 3: Shot to Seventh Street and Northern. I grew up on
- 47:19Speaker 3: fourteenth Avenue in dunlap.
- 47:22Speaker 4: Oh, I know where the lap is. I know where
- 47:23Speaker 4: the lap is. It's sunny slope.
- 47:25Speaker 1: Yes. So anyway, he's the one that designed this whole
- 47:28Speaker 1: thing for his brand and I'm like, let me borrow it,
- 47:31Speaker 1: let's do it, let's do a T shirt drop together.
- 47:33Speaker 1: And then when they called me from the from the
- 47:35Speaker 1: interscope and said you're good to go this Friday, I'm like,
- 47:38Speaker 1: we're gonna go. We're just gonna go with this.
- 47:40Speaker 4: Oh wow. So the album cover and all that really
- 47:42Speaker 4: really kind of came together in.
- 47:44Speaker 3: A week because it felt like it did feel like
- 47:46Speaker 3: it kind of came like out of nowhere.
- 47:48Speaker 4: To be fair, yeah, like I knew you you guys had.
- 47:51Speaker 3: Those records together because I talked to Ot and his
- 47:53Speaker 3: dad a lot. But it did feel like, oh shit,
- 47:56Speaker 3: this MC magic album.
- 47:58Speaker 1: Yes, absolutely, And I want to shout out other artists
- 48:01Speaker 1: on the album too. I love discovering artists that are
- 48:04Speaker 1: not that popular that have talent and put them on.
- 48:07Speaker 1: So this is a little girl named Alondra Santos. She
- 48:10Speaker 1: sings on the record with me and Jenny sixty nine
- 48:13Speaker 1: on You and Me. And there's also of course Trish
- 48:15Speaker 1: Toledo who's been known to sing oldies and stuff. We
- 48:17Speaker 1: got a song called Nobody Knows. We got a phenomenal
- 48:22Speaker 1: video for that song. Nope, it's phenomenal. And I'm just excited,
- 48:26Speaker 1: and I'm excited for people to see Pretty Girl twenty four.
- 48:29Speaker 4: Yo. I also think you gotta do like a new
- 48:31Speaker 4: Magic City album next. You think so Magic City would
- 48:35Speaker 4: be part three, right, it would be three?
- 48:37Speaker 1: Yeah, Magic City Part three?
- 48:38Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 48:39Speaker 3: Hey man, I always tell the story, but I've definitely
- 48:42Speaker 3: got an early copy of Magic City back in the
- 48:44Speaker 3: day and was selling it at the swap.
- 48:47Speaker 1: I made you some money, cat, yeah, you did well.
- 48:50Speaker 1: I was bootlegging two. I just didn't go with the brand.
- 48:53Speaker 4: It's so crazy, like for people who don't know like
- 48:55Speaker 4: you really like legitimately started your career. There's a swabeat
- 48:59Speaker 4: in Arizona.
- 49:00Speaker 3: It's on fortieth Street in Washington, and you.
- 49:04Speaker 4: Were there every week, was it? Because Wednesday nights were cracking?
- 49:07Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 49:08Speaker 3: And then Friday, Saturday, Sunday, well, Saturday and Sunday were
- 49:10Speaker 3: really in the days.
- 49:11Speaker 1: Right, Saturday and Sunday were the main days.
- 49:13Speaker 4: Uh. And then Wednesday night you can go buy a car?
- 49:15Speaker 1: You right, No, And I started going on Wednesday night
- 49:18Speaker 1: that was.
- 49:18Speaker 4: Like super pist to night for show, Like Wednesday was.
- 49:21Speaker 1: More Bison, but the Swapman became super Bison for sure.
- 49:24Speaker 1: In general. Yeah, yeah, because's where I got myos now brother.
- 49:27Speaker 3: Yeah, no, I haven't been to this. I haven't been
- 49:29Speaker 3: to that swap meet probably in like six years.
- 49:32Speaker 1: Yeah, it's been a long time. One of the homies
- 49:34Speaker 1: that let us use his spot. Shout out to my
- 49:36Speaker 1: man Abe on the South Side Tacos. He let us
- 49:39Speaker 1: use his spot to do the photo shoot you know
- 49:41Speaker 1: some of the photos that we used with the album launch.
- 49:44Speaker 1: We took him in South Phoenix at Guesswave and and
- 49:47Speaker 1: he's like magic. I got this vision that you come
- 49:50Speaker 1: back to the swap Meat and people can go get
- 49:52Speaker 1: a take for you, just for one day.
- 49:54Speaker 4: That'd be fire.
- 49:56Speaker 1: And my wife said, you know, that's a smart idea.
- 49:58Speaker 3: That's not a bad idea. Yeah, because you guys have
- 50:02Speaker 3: hard copies the album.
- 50:03Speaker 1: Yet they're on the way. They're on the way, dude.
- 50:06Speaker 3: You should do that one day. Get the radio stations involved.
- 50:11Speaker 3: I don't know if Gio. I forget the name of
- 50:13Speaker 3: the lady who used to run the swap me, but
- 50:14Speaker 3: she kicked me out.
- 50:15Speaker 1: At least Nica.
- 50:16Speaker 3: Monica kicked me out of that motherfucker fifteen times. I
- 50:19Speaker 3: used to have to send my parents to get the
- 50:21Speaker 3: space and then.
- 50:22Speaker 4: You can't sell those burn CDs. Bro I literally used
- 50:26Speaker 4: to have to send different people to buy the space
- 50:28Speaker 4: in the morning under their name. I'd be like, yoyo,
- 50:31Speaker 4: go get the space. That's a real hustler. Oh yeah.
- 50:33Speaker 3: And then even the one in Tucsonic got kicked out
- 50:36Speaker 3: Tonki Vertie swapped.
- 50:37Speaker 4: Oh my god.
- 50:39Speaker 3: The one that I never got no smoke at was
- 50:40Speaker 3: the one on Buckeye, the one on like thirty Fi.
- 50:44Speaker 3: They didn't give a fuck over there. You're gonna sell
- 50:46Speaker 3: whatever the fuck you wanted over there. That's the real
- 50:49Speaker 3: piece of swap meat for sure. The one by Carl Hayden,
- 50:52Speaker 3: that's the one.
- 50:53Speaker 1: Yeah, just knowing to Carl Hayden. Just when you say
- 50:57Speaker 1: Carl Hayden, they're like on Roosevelt.
- 51:00Speaker 3: You know what's so crazy is I just saw recently
- 51:02Speaker 3: that a few years ago, I had no idea that
- 51:04Speaker 3: this happened, that they made a fucking movie with George
- 51:06Speaker 3: Lopez about Carl Hayden High school.
- 51:08Speaker 4: Yeah. I didn't know that the Underground Water Team or
- 51:11Speaker 4: something like that. Yeah, some some sort of robot team
- 51:13Speaker 4: or some shit roy under Yeah. I was like, they
- 51:14Speaker 4: got a fucking movie about.
- 51:16Speaker 1: Carl Heyten Hayden High School.
- 51:18Speaker 4: And George Lopez shout out falcons. She where did you
- 51:22Speaker 4: go to high school?
- 51:23Speaker 1: I started at East High School.
- 51:25Speaker 4: It doesn't exist anymore. I started at East High School.
- 51:28Speaker 1: That was my freshman year, and then the government gave
- 51:31Speaker 1: my mom a bigger house, but she had to move
- 51:34Speaker 1: to Avondale. So then I finished up my sophomore, junior,
- 51:38Speaker 1: senior year in Avondale on the far west side.
- 51:43Speaker 3: So when you were growing up, like grade school, middle school,
- 51:46Speaker 3: where were you at?
- 51:47Speaker 1: I was in the projects at Cofeld, So I went
- 51:50Speaker 1: to Hamilton. It's called Hamilton now, but it was called
- 51:52Speaker 1: Murphy three back then.
- 51:53Speaker 4: So what like, what are your crossroads growing up?
- 51:56Speaker 1: Buckeye and Nineteenth Avenue. Oh, Jesus, Carlito's Market, that's the Funneteenth.
- 52:02Speaker 3: Still is by, I believe it. Buckeye in nineteenth Avenue
- 52:05Speaker 3: hasn't gotten any better.
- 52:06Speaker 4: I actually don't think anything up and down Nineteenth Avenue's
- 52:09Speaker 4: ever gotten better. Businesses that where their clothes bro Nineteenth
- 52:12Speaker 4: Avenue as a street in Arizona is just fucking doomed.
- 52:16Speaker 4: I don't know what's I think twenty seventh Avenue's overtaking
- 52:19Speaker 4: it if you just go up and down twenty seventh, Yeah,
- 52:22Speaker 4: twenty seventh is pretty bod Nineteenth Avenue fucked. I don't
- 52:25Speaker 4: matter where you're at, you be on nineteen Avenue. You're right,
- 52:28Speaker 4: it's fucked up and down done left to baseline, Hey,
- 52:32Speaker 4: baseline of seventh Street? What's up? Jesus man? All right?
- 52:36Speaker 4: So look, the new album is out. People can go
- 52:38Speaker 4: get the merch.
- 52:38Speaker 3: Hard copies are on the way. I'm assuming you've got
- 52:42Speaker 3: tons of shows coming up, and we.
- 52:44Speaker 1: Got a ton of gang of shows. Just go to
- 52:45Speaker 1: mcmagic dot world for all the links.
- 52:48Speaker 4: What has been the coolest place? Like?
- 52:50Speaker 3: Have you have you because you have your places you
- 52:52Speaker 3: always go, right, has there been a new place you've
- 52:53Speaker 3: gone recently where you're like, oh shit, like, uh, we
- 52:56Speaker 3: got booked where oh.
- 52:57Speaker 1: Yeah, we went to Tapa, Florida and it was Banana.
- 53:00Speaker 1: I just saw that we went to Tampa, Florida and
- 53:03Speaker 1: I lived in Tampa. Yes, yeah, and it was crazy bootleg.
- 53:07Speaker 1: Matter of fact that the promoters that wasn't the show
- 53:09Speaker 1: that we promoted. The promoter said, we didn't expect this
- 53:12Speaker 1: type of turnout, and they told us that last night,
- 53:14Speaker 1: not last night, two nights ago. They told us that
- 53:17Speaker 1: in Brighton, Colorado, Adams County Fair. They expected five hundred people,
- 53:23Speaker 1: We had like ten thousand people.
- 53:25Speaker 4: What the fuck? Yeah, Tampa's got the worst Mexican food
- 53:29Speaker 4: in America. Thanks for the heads up.
- 53:32Speaker 1: Can.
- 53:33Speaker 3: I lived there, and I tell you I scratched every
- 53:36Speaker 3: single nook and cranny place.
- 53:37Speaker 1: I'll definitely be going to Jersey Mike's when I get
- 53:40Speaker 1: to Tampa.
- 53:40Speaker 4: Get Cuban food. They got a place called Taco Bus.
- 53:43Speaker 4: That is what everyone thinks is good. If you live
- 53:49Speaker 4: in Tampa and you asked someone from Tampa, yeah, where's
- 53:52Speaker 4: some Mexican food at they were, with the straight face,
- 53:54Speaker 4: point you to a taco bell. Damn, I get there's
- 53:56Speaker 4: a Taco bell over there.
- 53:59Speaker 1: Not real Mexican food.
- 54:01Speaker 3: Do you think Southern California has better Mexican food than Arizona?
- 54:05Speaker 1: Personally, I'm from Arizona. So I'm gonna I'm gonna go
- 54:08Speaker 1: with a Z.
- 54:08Speaker 4: I go there, I go.
- 54:09Speaker 1: I'm gonna go with Ez.
- 54:10Speaker 3: I always say by the Fall, I'll always give it
- 54:12Speaker 3: to just because San Diego's like right there.
- 54:16Speaker 1: San Diego's got real good food, but LA's got king
- 54:19Speaker 1: Taco Yeah.
- 54:21Speaker 3: I actually, you know what I don't like about La
- 54:23Speaker 3: and obviously the outskirts of La they have.
- 54:26Speaker 4: We don't have a Philibertos. We don't have a twenty
- 54:31Speaker 4: four hour Wow. Like I'm telling you, in La, there
- 54:35Speaker 4: is not a twenty four hour Mexican place you could
- 54:38Speaker 4: pull up and get a carnisarrazy. It does not exist.
- 54:41Speaker 1: But you know what a lot of that is because
- 54:43Speaker 1: there's so many, so many hustling trucks. The food trucks
- 54:45Speaker 1: are everywhere.
- 54:46Speaker 4: But the food trucks are open twenty.
- 54:47Speaker 1: Four hours, but I've seen them open late.
- 54:50Speaker 4: They'll be open to about two three am.
- 54:51Speaker 1: Okay.
- 54:52Speaker 4: But my whole thing, I'm like, dude and a Z.
- 54:54Speaker 4: You can't you fall into a twenty four hour Philipbertos.
- 54:57Speaker 4: And like Phillies is by the way, I joy Phillies.
- 55:00Speaker 4: He called Philiberto Phillies, but like, hey, you do, got
- 55:05Speaker 4: a relationship with them, But I love Phillies. Like the
- 55:08Speaker 4: thing is is like it's it's like there's better food
- 55:11Speaker 4: for sure, yeah, but it's just dependable.
- 55:13Speaker 1: Yeah. Back when I lived on on on forty third
- 55:15Speaker 1: Avenue and Cactus, there was a place called Rolando's. Oh yeah,
- 55:19Speaker 1: Rolando's went hard. They had the best toy soak on
- 55:23Speaker 1: Wells and Gesso Burrito and the best.
- 55:28Speaker 3: The best hot dogs are in Arizona. They started in Tucson. Facts.
- 55:32Speaker 3: There's that place on twentieth Street in the Indian School.
- 55:34Speaker 3: There's a fucking cart. Oh my god.
- 55:36Speaker 1: So yeah, no, that's one o. The hot dogs are
- 55:38Speaker 1: definitely definitely an easy.
- 55:40Speaker 3: I try to tell people because I'll tell them like, yeah, nah,
- 55:42Speaker 3: the ship that you when you leave the Crypto dot
- 55:44Speaker 3: com arena and there's the ladies with the carts selling
- 55:46Speaker 3: the bacon rate wrapped hot dogs and not the same thing.
- 55:51Speaker 3: I wish it was, for sure, man. Right with the
- 55:53Speaker 3: new album is out, everyone goes support it. Uh mc
- 55:56Speaker 3: magic world dot.
- 55:56Speaker 1: Com mcmagic dot world not dot com world, got world, okay?
- 56:01Speaker 4: Yeah? And how often you go live?
- 56:05Speaker 1: I try to go at least once a week, but
- 56:07Speaker 1: when when I have enough free time, I'll do twice
- 56:09Speaker 1: a week.
- 56:10Speaker 4: Okay.
- 56:10Speaker 1: You know. Sometimes after after church on Sunday, I'll go
- 56:13Speaker 1: live again in the evening. You know, it's a good time.
- 56:15Speaker 1: I try to give them as much as possible because
- 56:17Speaker 1: they've given me so much.
- 56:18Speaker 3: I love it, man, mc magic, I appreciate you pulling
- 56:21Speaker 3: up buddy. Illove you boy, Yes sir, love you too.
- 56:22Speaker 4: Man Fire
