- 0:08podcast. Woo woo woo.
- 0:12Welcome into Bangor Management, the fantasy hockey podcast with
- 0:16your favorite hosts, Jake, Josh and Kevin.
- 0:19How's everybody doing today? Pretty great.
- 0:22That's all. That's all you're gonna say,
- 0:24Pretty. Great.
- 0:24How great. Scale from 1:00 to 10:00, Josh.
- 0:26I'd say 95. Perfect.
- 0:29I am the inverse at .5. Why?
- 0:31Because you've demolished me at fantasy hockey last week.
- 0:34Even though you told me you were certain that I was going to
- 0:37destroy you, I didn't. Know you were you were up like
- 0:4013 zero on Friday morning so. It was it actually 13 zero.
- 0:45No, it was like 11-4 going into the Friday matchups and he ended
- 0:48up annihilating me and it was tragic.
- 0:51Is the worst person to face in a matchup because he's always like
- 0:55getting Owen 15 that feels like until Sunday night and then
- 0:59somehow he ends up winning like. Crazy happening again this week,
- 1:02you know, like I, I, I'd love to start off a week strong, you
- 1:05know, But I'll take the win at the end.
- 1:07Some somebody really think you're working?
- 1:09I want to get into it. I'm sure you would.
- 1:11So let's dive right into our Week 17 News and updates
- 1:14episode. As always, you could find our
- 1:17social media in the link tree in the podcast description.
- 1:20And if you like what you hear, you could also follow us on
- 1:22Spotify or Apple Podcasts. So first on the agenda, we have
- 1:27an insane trade that happened this week.
- 1:30It was between the New York Rangers and Tampa Bay Lightning.
- 1:32Lucas Edmonds, 4. Ryder Korshak.
- 1:35Whoa. That's insane.
- 1:37I know, I know. OK, no, that's a joke.
- 1:40So the insane chair. That's not a joke that actually
- 1:42did happen. That did happen, it's true, it's
- 1:44true, but I think higher on our priority list is fantasy hockey
- 1:49players. You had Rantanen for NHS and a
- 1:52bunch of other irrelevant pieces.
- 1:54Although Taylor Hall is kind of fun and there.
- 1:56I guess you call Taylor Hall irrelevant.
- 1:58Yeah, what the? Heck, Hart Trophy winner.
- 1:59Taylor, don't buy it. But yeah, this is massive and
- 2:03Nature and Ranson are definitely the biggest 2 pieces, so we kind
- 2:06of expect to that this is going to increase Nature's value a
- 2:10lot. Get into play with McKinnon.
- 2:12And are we all in agreement that Ryan's value should drop even
- 2:16though he's like an elite player?
- 2:19I think I mean, we should definitely discuss this trade in
- 2:21the ramifications. I think on the on the surface,
- 2:24it kind of feels just like a straight swap another day,
- 2:26right? You're just in the lineups,
- 2:27you're just putting nature for random was and vice versa.
- 2:30I really like this for Natus more than ranted and obviously
- 2:33for Natus, you're probably happier than if you are renting
- 2:35owner. He's still obviously a fantasy
- 2:38GOAT, right? But his ultimately, I think the
- 2:41biggest difference is his minutes are gonna go down just
- 2:43inherently by playing on the different team that's less top
- 2:46heavy. And Nature gets to play with
- 2:49McKinnon and I think their skill set suits each other very well.
- 2:52Nature is a very fast player and making it as well.
- 2:54So I think the them playing together, they're already seeing
- 2:58it's been what, 2-3 games at this point?
- 3:00The chemistry is already kind of developing there.
- 3:02So I'm thrilled about that. I don't know how much fantasy
- 3:05value he has. Like overall, like he started
- 3:08off really hot. So you're not really expecting
- 3:10that pace to continue, but I'd be very happy as a Nature's
- 3:13owner. Rantanen, what do we expect?
- 3:15I feel his volume cats probably should stay the same, be a
- 3:18slight dip in shots, maybe no more faceoff wins because he was
- 3:22taking some face off wins at certain points.
- 3:25Power play. Does that get better?
- 3:28Like the canes usually have a better power play?
- 3:30I know it's kind of been slacking recently, but overall I
- 3:34think that's kind of how I feel about it.
- 3:36What do you think, Josh? Yeah, I think this is a clear
- 3:39win for Natus. I mean, not like, yeah, that
- 3:41super hot start, but he's actually been pretty bad for the
- 3:43past, I think, month or two. So this kind of like, gives him
- 3:47a new change of scenery. He's playing.
- 3:50He's locked onto that line, one with McKinnon and power play,
- 3:52one with McKinnon. Like Kevin said, they're both
- 3:54fast players who work really well together.
- 3:55Nature has four assists in the last two games, so it's clearly
- 3:59working out so far. And I guess one other thing is
- 4:02that he's not playing on a rod team anymore where the lines
- 4:05could get shuffled at any moment.
- 4:06You know, he's gonna actually get to develop some chemistry
- 4:09with his linemate who happens to be probably the best player in
- 4:11the world. So I think that's a huge one for
- 4:13Natus. Then in terms of Rantanen, the
- 4:16fact is when you have a player of that skill level, they're the
- 4:19ones who make their teammates better.
- 4:21It's not their teammates who make them better.
- 4:23But at the same time, when you're moving away from a player
- 4:27like McKinnon, it's still going to take a little dip.
- 4:28So it's going to be a bit of a a dip for ranting.
- 4:32But also, like Evan said, the Canes have a better power play
- 4:34than the Avs, so who knows if maybe that actually gives them a
- 4:37bit more power play. Regardless, I'm not looking to,
- 4:40you know, make any moves from Antonin that I wasn't planning
- 4:43on doing before. I don't think it changes his
- 4:45like, you know, story that much. I think I'd definitely be
- 4:49willing to trade for rent and more right now.
- 4:52Like if people aren't really taking a dip in his value too
- 4:56seriously, I would look to maybe make a lateral move for a team
- 4:59that maybe has a better playoff schedule or a guy that I'm just
- 5:02more confident in the rest of the season.
- 5:04Like, do you think I was gonna say Rantanen or do you think you
- 5:10could pasta? Would you would you make that
- 5:12swap? No, I'd keep pasta.
- 5:14Not like for sure, sorry. You're saying what I trade
- 5:16ranting. And ranting for pasta.
- 5:17Yes, absolutely. Because Josh.
- 5:20Is Wrentham's been better? Almost.
- 5:22Yeah, I know. But that's no, I think that the
- 5:25whole rod factor here is actually massive and that really
- 5:31hindered nature's value because other than AHO, there's nobody
- 5:34over the past five years on the Hurricanes who has gotten more
- 5:38than a point per game in a season.
- 5:40The only buddy, the only player that was poised to do that was
- 5:44niches this year. So to me, this incredibly
- 5:47hinders Rantanen's value. I'm probably going to be the
- 5:50lowest on him of us three rest of season.
- 5:53And I think that this propels nature is still like new heights
- 5:56that are going to make him like probably not second round pick
- 6:01in most leagues, but I think he's going to be insane rest of
- 6:03the season. So now if you ask me Kyle Connor
- 6:05or Martin Hughes, which is a big topic of conversation over the
- 6:09over the duration of our Bangor management tenure thus far, I
- 6:14still gonna go with Kyle Connor, but very, very like.
- 6:17You can't stay still when both of you guys were nitrous and I
- 6:20was. Like what I wrote no, but
- 6:24actually like I'm I'm super high on natures right now and way
- 6:28lower on rent and than than I was.
- 6:30Yeah, I agree. Would you take would you take
- 6:32Rantanen or kill Makar rest of the season?
- 6:36Makar. For sure.
- 6:38I mean, Renton's been better. That's why I'm.
- 6:39Asking I take Renton. Yeah, but ranting there he.
- 6:42Has been better. Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
- 6:45Like if you have rent and and you know you're worried about
- 6:47his value post trade, if people are excited about the trade and
- 6:50you can flip him for a guy that's arguably going to be
- 6:52better than I think you should look into it.
- 6:54Yeah, that's it. Cool.
- 6:55So it sounds like we're all in agreement.
- 6:56So let's move on to the second point here.
- 6:58We got John Tavares and Matthew Knives are skating again with
- 7:02contact jerseys. It's exciting for Josh is at the
- 7:04virus owner finally. And you also got scholars.
- 7:09He participated in a full practice.
- 7:11You'd expect Stolarz Antivirus to be back in the next one to
- 7:14two weeks. Noise might only come back after
- 7:16the Four Nations break. The goalie should go back to a
- 7:195050 rotation and to virus slash.
- 7:21Nice. Should bump Domi and McCann off
- 7:24power. Play one.
- 7:25I think that's all pretty straightforward.
- 7:27I don't. I mean, we're jumping ahead
- 7:30here, but I don't think that the leaves are necessarily married
- 7:33to one or the other for the playoffs, meaning that I think
- 7:35it's going to be a true tandem for the goalies.
- 7:39Yeah, I'm super excited for this because I have both Tavarius and
- 7:43Scholars on my team, so it would be great if they could come
- 7:45back. But yeah, I think it's a pretty
- 7:48clear every time both goalies have been healthy, it's been a
- 7:505050 tandem. Both have been playing amazing.
- 7:52It's the only way I see them moving away from the tandem if
- 7:55is if one starts playing really awful, but I don't see a reason
- 7:58why that would happen. So expect the full 501050 tandem
- 8:01and then the power play one in terms of the forwards is pretty
- 8:04set in stone. So to various and eyes will take
- 8:06back their spots easily once they come.
- 8:08Back. Yeah, absolutely.
- 8:09I think right now as we, I mean we should, we should work on
- 8:13getting a playoff primer kind of episode out for all the fans out
- 8:16there because now is really the time as we near trade deadlines
- 8:18and everything like that to really consider making those
- 8:21moves to better replay off schedule.
- 8:22And I think as Toronto comes back and gets fully healthy and
- 8:25these guys production starts going up, I think that's
- 8:27probably the best time to start looking at flipping those guys
- 8:31for maybe you guys would better playoff schedules because if
- 8:34you're championship week is week 24 in Toronto plays twice,
- 8:38that's a really big difference. Then if you have a guy that's a
- 8:41lateral move that has four games or three games, you know, so now
- 8:44is the time to look into that. Goalie wise, I expect Solars to
- 8:47be the starter over Wall. I would say like a 6040 split.
- 8:51Installers's favor is what I'm expecting.
- 8:53The only thing that would take away from that is if maybe this
- 8:56injury really affects the largest level of play and he
- 9:01doesn't get back to where he was before.
- 9:02I guess I will have to wait and see.
- 9:03I'm sure he'll be a little bit rusty when he gets back into it,
- 9:05but overall I think I would take him over while rest of season.
- 9:11Awesome, I agree with both of you on that one.
- 9:13Cool, so then you got Sean Monahan suffered a set back and
- 9:16should be out until mid March. Boone Jenner started practicing
- 9:19and should be back after the Four Nations break.
- 9:23I don't expect Boon to take Chantilly spot on line one or
- 9:26power play 1. I don't think any of you do
- 9:28either. And I really think that rest of
- 9:30season Ventilla is going to be a really nice fantasy asset to
- 9:33own. I think that this this setback
- 9:36for Monahan, I think it's a pretty bad actually for guys
- 9:40like Marchenko and Voronkov and Werenski.
- 9:43I do think Monahan was just having an incredible season and
- 9:45he definitely did increase their value a lot.
- 9:47But at the end of the day, that top line and and top defensemen
- 9:50are still really, really good even without him.
- 9:53So families going to slot in, I expect them all to take a little
- 9:56dip in value where infantile obviously a huge jump in value.
- 9:59That's pretty much honestly, this is really tough for Monahan
- 10:01owners themselves, right? Because I feel like Monahan went
- 10:03later in draft so you got really good value on the level of
- 10:05production he was giving your fantasy team and just sit back.
- 10:08Makes him pretty much irrelevant for the rest of the fantasy
- 10:11season. Right?
- 10:12Like he's not coming back anytime soon. 8 weeks.
- 10:14I think it was the setback. 6 to 8 weeks, yeah.
- 10:17So that's pretty much maybe he comes in for your fantasy
- 10:20championship maybe, but unlikely at that point.
- 10:23And even then at that, if he's on your IR, you're going to cut
- 10:26somebody to bring him off IR and see what you get.
- 10:29Who knows? The biggest question is what
- 10:31does how does this affect Bunners playing time when he
- 10:33comes back? We'll have to wait and see.
- 10:34We can make our assumptions, but at the end of the day, we won't
- 10:37know until he gets in the lineup.
- 10:39Yeah, obviously if he takes that line, one power play, one spot,
- 10:42then that's like massive for him.
- 10:43But I just I don't see him taking it from Chantilly.
- 10:45I think they like how Ventil he's.
- 10:47Been they should have family there, but I wouldn't be
- 10:48surprised if they give the captain and shot there at some
- 10:50point, you know? Yeah.
- 10:53I I think I'm probably the highest on Fantilli here.
- 10:55I mean, yes, Monaghan was having an amazing season, but I don't
- 10:59know if this actually takes Voronkov and Marchenko down as
- 11:03much as you guys think. I mean, Ventilla's been really
- 11:06good. They've been scoring a lot.
- 11:08He's been like Ventilla just alone.
- 11:10Like went on a like a six game point streak recently and they
- 11:13just got a hat trick in a two assist game.
- 11:15They're scoring with Chantilly there and Fantilli just played
- 11:1925 minutes in his last game, which is nuts for a forward.
- 11:24Yeah, no, I think he's really good and I think, but I think at
- 11:27best he'll do as good as Monahan did there.
- 11:30I don't think he's gonna do better than that.
- 11:32So I think they'll take a slight dip or at best it'll be the
- 11:34same. Right.
- 11:36I just mean, I wouldn't use this as an opportunity to trade
- 11:38Marchenko or Voronkov away with the Monaghan setback news,
- 11:42right? Like, I still think that those
- 11:44guys are gonna be good even with Van Tilly.
- 11:46Yeah. Right, cool.
- 11:48So let's move on to the next point.
- 11:50Nico Hischer has an upper body injury and his week to week
- 11:53probably won't return until after the Four Nations face off
- 11:56Timo Meyer is on power. Play one.
- 11:58I too am rejoicing now, Kevin. You're welcome.
- 12:04It's devil time. Yeah, so I I mean, Josh wrote
- 12:11wait for him to wait for Timo to get some points and then sell
- 12:13high. I disagree.
- 12:15I think Timo is awesome, but no, in actuality they're gonna play
- 12:20different places on the power play and Timo's value is just.
- 12:24Comes from the fact that I. Do shots hits monster.
- 12:27So at the end of the day, like I don't necessarily think he's
- 12:29gonna nearly take over. He shares point production, but
- 12:33the more minutes is really nice if you're a team owner.
- 12:35If you look at the lines as the practice this morning, they put
- 12:40instead of Timon power play 1. So I would say I would say
- 12:43definitely keep an eye on that. They're doing everything in her
- 12:45power not to have Timo Meyer on power.
- 12:47Play one I. Don't know why they hate him so
- 12:48much, like why would you? I wouldn't trade for him and
- 12:50sign him to this contract if you're just gonna bury him in
- 12:52the lineup. I know it makes no sense.
- 12:54Honestly, I think the only reason that kind of makes sense
- 12:57is they said they have too many I think left shutters on their
- 13:02lineup and they need somebody from a different that has
- 13:04different shot to play on the other side.
- 13:06I don't know if that's the case or whatnot, but either way, I
- 13:09would agree with Josh kind of where I would say.
- 13:12Lots of lefty also and so is seizure.
- 13:14So listen then, so I don't know, I don't know what to tell you
- 13:20then, because he's not on P1 and I don't know if he's going to
- 13:25get there. And they all they also have New
- 13:27Jersey has A2 game week in the 20 in the week 24 fantasy
- 13:31championship. So if you can get any value,
- 13:34like if I'd be looking to sell Timo already and if his better
- 13:39production wave he sure out helps, then maybe do that.
- 13:43But also take a look at Dawson Mercer.
- 13:44You just playing Line 2 centre for the rest of the season or
- 13:46something? I like the Mercer call there.
- 13:51Yeah, yeah, it's Kevin. Sounds like someone who sold
- 13:54Teemo in our main league to your fellow podcast iOS and supposed
- 13:58friend. I mean, he's good.
- 14:00It's just the 2024 Fantasy Championship.
- 14:02I'm definitely the lowest on him out of all of us, I think.
- 14:05He's great for shots and hits, he's just a lack of power play
- 14:08is what hinders his true potential and then he's just
- 14:11unlucky and has not the best playoff schedule so.
- 14:13Yeah. Yeah, then we got Charlie McAvoy
- 14:17practicing a regular jersey and should be back this week.
- 14:21He is likely to take the power play one spot back from Mason
- 14:24Lori. We've said it before that he's
- 14:27no stranger. Macavoy to playing on the second
- 14:29power play while still being a fantasy asset.
- 14:32However, it's not like Laura has been an absolute stud on Power
- 14:35Play 1, so McAvoy should go back there.
- 14:38Yeah, I took a shot at Lori thinking, you know, if he if he
- 14:43was good enough, he would, he could have stolen that spot.
- 14:45But he just hasn't been. So I think McAvoy will slot back
- 14:48in on power play when he comes back.
- 14:50Yeah, not that he, Macavoy, is gonna be the best power play
- 14:52point production getter as a defenseman overall, but if PP1
- 14:56obviously. The thing with McAvoy though is
- 14:58that he's just really good and well-rounded for banger
- 15:01categories. He's one of the few I think
- 15:05defensemen that will get you almost a triple double in those
- 15:09back. Great shots, hit some blocks.
- 15:11So he's just very valuable for that.
- 15:13And if he's getting P1 production as well, then great.
- 15:17But I think most fantasy teams are just be happy to have him
- 15:19back. Hmm.
- 15:24Afghani the why is silent. Mulkin is week to week with an L
- 15:30lower body injury. He already wasn't on power play
- 15:32one and Pittsburgh sucks regardless so I don't expect
- 15:36much fantasy impact. OK, Josh, go off.
- 15:41Look, I've been so low on Pittsburgh.
- 15:44I love hearing you read my words because I know you don't fully
- 15:49agree. But I just, I was just reading
- 15:53it and I was like, Oh, no, one of my.
- 15:56Mulkin was maybe the best sell high we had all season with how
- 16:00we had started like week two or three, whenever that was, when
- 16:03he was like averaging 2 points per game for like a month.
- 16:06I think that was the best sell high we may have called.
- 16:08Yeah, I mean, hopefully not on your fantasy team after that
- 16:11point, but if he is now this kind of unfortunate.
- 16:15Yeah, I mean, even before this injury he was doing really,
- 16:17really poorly. So honestly, this injury could
- 16:20be a blessing because now he's not taking up a roster spot on
- 16:22your team, but. Through those, it's hard to drop
- 16:26a guy like Malkin just because of name value.
- 16:28He's one of those guys that maybe he like you know, the
- 16:31roster percentage doesn't add up with the production for your
- 16:33fantasy team and streaming from that slot is probably better.
- 16:35So now this injury, I mean if you have an IR grade, if not,
- 16:39cut him. Yeah, especially because of how
- 16:42they've been shuffling around the lines like he doesn't even
- 16:44have power play one anymore. Like, yeah, no, he's he's just
- 16:47been pretty bad for the past like a couple of months.
- 16:49And there was that brief period where Pittsburgh was surging and
- 16:52both Kevin and Jay thought Pittsburgh were the real deal.
- 16:55And Jackie had Jerry, Kevin had bunting.
- 16:57They were like. This.
- 16:57I mean I still have Bunting and he's averaging like .5 power
- 17:00play points. Per game, I actually, I have no
- 17:02issue with bunting as a as a guy on your roster, but I'm just
- 17:05saying I didn't believe in Pittsburgh at all.
- 17:06Yeah, and they're showing me that I was right.
- 17:08So it's. Well my opponent just picked up
- 17:10Nedeljkovic tonight so I hope they get smashed.
- 17:14I'm sure they will. They played the Utah, so they
- 17:18gotta. That's my team.
- 17:21Yeah, the Utah. Utah, as we should.
- 17:23We should send it in as a pitch and see what they say.
- 17:25Then you got Josh Norris, who came back from his brief injury
- 17:29and is now lined to power Play 2, with Giroud taking his spot
- 17:33on power play one. I'm not gonna read this next
- 17:36part, so I'll let you do this Josh, because I totally
- 17:39disagree. I'm kidding, I don't.
- 17:40Really like probably not. I wouldn't expect not to last so
- 17:44he could be a good buy low right now in bangers cats leagues.
- 17:47Yeah, yeah, that's fair actually.
- 17:49I mean, we'll see. He was there before the injury,
- 17:51right? So we'll see how it goes.
- 17:53It's not like Guru is a nothing player.
- 17:55He's still pretty good. But Ottawa is looking for a
- 17:58spark, especially with like, Brady to talk with, like what,
- 18:01one point over the past three months or something?
- 18:03Crazy. Like he was like one point over
- 18:04the last month or something. Yeah, that's that's crazy.
- 18:07But yeah, so I I agree. I mean, they may try this for a
- 18:10bit, but Norris sorta has had a leg up on Ja Rule and power play
- 18:14one all season. So that could that could
- 18:16probably stay. Yeah, I mean, that's just where
- 18:18he's really good. You know, like they've shuffled
- 18:21him around the lineup throughout this season.
- 18:23They've had him on line 3, but he was always able to power play
- 18:251. And I think he had this brief
- 18:27injury where he was out for the past week and then she was on
- 18:29power play one and had like, you know, a decent showing.
- 18:32So they're not going to switch that up right now because
- 18:34they're just desperate for any wins they can get.
- 18:36But but I think the second that the power play, you know, goes
- 18:40starts faltering a bit, they'll easily swap Norris back on.
- 18:42And he's just so good with the bangers categories that, you
- 18:45know, getting the added bonus of power play points and some other
- 18:48points as well is just great. Yeah, I think if he sticks on
- 18:51P2I expect his his power production to greatly decrease
- 18:55because that was a big part of why he's like honestly really
- 18:58good and and should be nothing more than he is because he had
- 19:01that P1 as well as the Manger categories.
- 19:03If he doesn't have that P1, I expect him to lose like maybe
- 19:05like 5 to 10 points on his office projection for the rest
- 19:08of the season. So hopefully he gets back there.
- 19:15Sorry, I forgot telling myself. Yeah, I agree with both of you.
- 19:18Then we have Noah Dobson was put on LTIR and could potentially be
- 19:22out for the season. Rather than promote Pollock to
- 19:27power play one the Isles went on and signed Tony D'Angelo to run
- 19:30the power play who has been a success as a power play
- 19:33quarterback in the past. But the Islanders power play
- 19:36sucks. So he's worth a look but don't
- 19:38get your expectations too high. So the way I see this D'Angelo
- 19:42should be picked up in most points leagues that are
- 19:45relatively deep because as you mentioned has been as I
- 19:49mentioned, but as you wrote has been a pretty good power play
- 19:52quarterback in his career. I want to know also your guys,
- 19:55your thoughts on Scott Pyruvic, Is he just totally irrelevant or
- 19:59what do? We think so.
- 20:00My take is that obviously Dobson moving to LTR is really a bad
- 20:04sign for his fantasy value rest of the season.
- 20:08Like he could really be out for the rest of the season, which
- 20:11really sucks for a team that already needs a lot of help.
- 20:14Losing your best defenseman and I think like the next game after
- 20:17as I streamed him, of course, Ryan Pulock gets hurt and is
- 20:21potentially out as well. So I think signing Penovich was
- 20:24more like Pollock got hurt and they all.
- 20:26I think Mayfield is also banged up.
- 20:28So they just need bodies. I think Crunch is kind of more
- 20:32to that rather than being a power play quarterback.
- 20:34But it's good that Munich can also potentially be that.
- 20:36Tony D'Angelo, though, I see him kind of like a shame gossip
- 20:39spare. I think he's a terrible NHL
- 20:41defensive defenseman. He's just a power play.
- 20:43Specialist. If if he's getting if he's
- 20:46getting like, you know, playing line 3 defensive minutes with
- 20:49power play one, then it's going to be like you're gaspare.
- 20:52He he's his first game. He played like over 20 minutes,
- 20:54which honestly I was surprised about.
- 20:56So keep an eye on it. But the power play is just not
- 20:59great. So does this value really like
- 21:01does he stick that much? Does he even last the whole
- 21:04season on the roster? Who knows actually worth a look,
- 21:07but. I think the most positively
- 21:09impacted player from all these injuries to the aisles is
- 21:12actually Alexander. Romanov.
- 21:14Yeah, I don't know if you and I know you got here think I'm.
- 21:16She's been nuts. No, he's been nuts.
- 21:19Absurd. He's got.
- 21:20I picked him up just for bangs, honestly, and he's been absurd
- 21:23with shots hit and blocks. But he's also got four points in
- 21:26his last three games and he's playing some crazy minutes.
- 21:28So I really like Romanoff as the pickup.
- 21:30Here we we've seen, we've seen Romanov have like this stretch
- 21:33when he was on Drake's Ross where he was averaging like
- 21:35three hits, three blocks a game for like 2 weeks.
- 21:38So I could see it being one of those things where, you know,
- 21:40he's just playing a lot of minutes right now.
- 21:41He's in a hot streak. I don't expect the points to
- 21:44stick. There's not really any any
- 21:45underlying metrics or, you know, helping his points out that much
- 21:49besides maybe a little bit extra ice time.
- 21:51But I don't think that contributes to getting in more
- 21:53advantageous positions on the ice.
- 21:55Yeah, but if he's playing more for bangers, that's great.
- 21:58I fully agree with the points not being something you should
- 22:01rely on or count on. That's just a cherry on top, you
- 22:03know, But I think the fact that so many of their key guys are
- 22:06out is just going to increase his minutes and increase his
- 22:08Bangor categories. So I think he's a really solid
- 22:10pickup in bangers. League because if you're
- 22:12averaging 20 minutes a night, which is what he was doing
- 22:14before all these injuries and you're averaging now like 23 to
- 22:1725 tonight, that's giving you a lot more opportunities, you
- 22:21know, probably on the penalty kill as well to get some hits
- 22:23and blocks. I really like it.
- 22:27OK, so I got two thoughts on this.
- 22:28The first one is I think what's gonna happen is that D'Angelo is
- 22:31gonna be power play one until some office nonsense happens.
- 22:34Per unit is gonna take over at some point and then maybe be
- 22:37decent but no idea how to predict whenever the next office
- 22:42scandal is going to. Be the issue with D'Angelo is
- 22:44that his category coverage is also not there.
- 22:46Like he's not a guy that's known for getting like hits, hits,
- 22:50blocks and shots. Yeah, but at least shoots and
- 22:52blocks more than what the usually does, so that's like
- 22:57easier hold at times. He's also notorious for getting
- 23:00straight zeros glasses pair, so there's that.
- 23:03But yeah, but on a bottom 5 power plane, the league, a guy
- 23:05that doesn't even have category coverage, I don't have high
- 23:08expectations, but it's worth picking up in deep leagues and
- 23:11seeing how it goes. That's kind of how I feel.
- 23:14My second thought is I cannot believe that I dropped Romanov.
- 23:17I didn't see these stats until right now and this hurts so bad.
- 23:21Did you have them against me last week?
- 23:23No, I just picked him up. OK.
- 23:25Did you dropped him a while ago? Did you know first game on
- 23:28whatever? Yeah, he's like he used to be on
- 23:31my roster two months ago. I can't believe I dropped him.
- 23:34This is nuts though, he's been so good.
- 23:37You're right. Wow.
- 23:38Three shots 5.6, seven hits and three blocks in.
- 23:41The past he doesn't even know that I picked them up like a
- 23:44week and a half ago on our Co manage team and he's been
- 23:46killing it for us. Yeah, don't worry, I'm listening
- 23:50to offers if you want to make a trade.
- 23:52Yeah, I'm sure you are OK then Careel Kaprizov to have surgery
- 23:57maybe about four to six weeks. Rossi takes back his spot on
- 24:00power play. One line 1 might be Boldy
- 24:03Ericsson neck and Zuccarello, but we'll have to wait and see
- 24:06while they have a great pleasant playoff schedule.
- 24:09So you know depending on your league settings and this and
- 24:14that Kaprizov could be a good buy low for the last two weeks
- 24:16of the season. This is a really dependent on
- 24:19where you are if you're guaranteed to make the playoffs.
- 24:22If you're not. Kevin and I were discussing and
- 24:25Josh off the pod before. Would you trade away Jordan
- 24:28Kairu for Kaprizov right now, for instance?
- 24:31Yeah. I mean, if you're for sure
- 24:34making the playoffs, I think that's, I think that would be
- 24:37fair value in terms of giving a player and getting basically
- 24:40Kaprizov in five or six weeks to play for your fantasy semifinals
- 24:45or finals. I think that's probably a fair
- 24:47thing. But it's hard to give more than
- 24:49that when you know that you're basically getting a dead roster
- 24:52spot or or IR clog on your roster for the rest of the
- 24:55fantasy season, especially if you're fighting for a bye week
- 24:57or fighting to make the playoffs.
- 24:59Like you just can't afford that if you're a prize owner and
- 25:02you're in the playoffs. I mean, it's tough, right?
- 25:04There's not really one for one replacement for Resoft.
- 25:06You cannot replace that value. There's nobody on that team
- 25:08that's going to remotely uptick in value.
- 25:11It's not already rostered. If you have them and you can
- 25:14trade them to a team that's, you know, in first place of the
- 25:17standings or second place or something like that and get a
- 25:20production that'll help you make the playoffs.
- 25:22I would strongly consider that. Yeah, it's pretty much
- 25:25completely dependent, like you guys said, on where you are in
- 25:28the standings. I'm very interested in Kaprizov
- 25:30as a as a playoffs option because like I said, I think
- 25:33Minnesota has the best playoff schedule if you're weeks 22 to
- 25:3624. And the fact is, he should be
- 25:40back by the fantasy playoffs. But I wouldn't be surprised for
- 25:43them to just IR him and make a move at the deadline and then
- 25:46pull the culture of Patrick Kane or whatever.
- 25:49A big level of risk involved with this type of trade for a
- 25:52guy who's just going into surgery and is guaranteed out
- 25:54for four to six weeks when there's this little time left in
- 25:57the fantasy season. Four to six weeks and the
- 25:59fantasy championship is in seven weeks.
- 26:00Yeah, exactly. So it's it's, you know.
- 26:03So it's definitely, it's definitely a risky move.
- 26:06And so you only do it if you can get it at a good price.
- 26:09You're not gonna pay for a full price price.
- 26:11You're gonna pay way less because of the fact that he
- 26:14could just be out for the rest of the season.
- 26:16But if you can get the right price for it, I really like it
- 26:18as a buy low if you're comfortably in the playoffs.
- 26:21Would you do the trade, Kevin? Send Kyra for Kaprizov.
- 26:24Yeah, I would trade Cairo for Capris.
- 26:26I would take that chance probably from my team
- 26:28specifically. Like I'm in 2nd place.
- 26:29I'm like 99% chance of making the playoffs.
- 26:32It might cost me a buy a week because our top two teams make
- 26:36Dubai. Yeah, but if I get Capris out
- 26:39for semifinals, finals, I think it'd be worth it.
- 26:41If I don't then I just take the L and probably cost me my
- 26:44season. They offered.
- 26:46I offered Bouchard and Terry for Sanderson and Kaprizov.
- 26:54I mean, that's I'd rather, I'd rather have Bouchard than
- 26:57Sanderson and then Terry for Kaprizov.
- 27:00Obviously there's a guy that probably is like a waiver wire
- 27:02kind of kind of level. But yeah.
- 27:05That's out for like almost the whole season.
- 27:07Yeah, literally. So it's a 2 for one.
- 27:09Yeah, pretty much. And yeah, it got rejected.
- 27:12So I don't think I don't. Think it depends on the manager
- 27:14obviously it depends how desperate they are and how much
- 27:16they're willing to be optimistic about the surgery I guess.
- 27:19Yeah, for sure. So just to clarify, if you hold
- 27:21them and you're ranked one of the top in the league, do you
- 27:24stay with him and IRM or do you want to?
- 27:26Shop I mean you absolutely IRM you do not drop him.
- 27:29No, obviously, but I'm trying to trade him.
- 27:31Or do you keep him on your team? And if I'm, if I'm a first place
- 27:35team and I know I'm gonna be first or second, then I'm
- 27:38probably keeping him. But honestly, I just like
- 27:40flipping these guys when they're hurt and getting some sort of
- 27:43value if I can, if I can, if I'm a complete opposite, no.
- 27:47But if I have Kaprizov and I can flip him for something good,
- 27:51then I would. But or else I'm probably
- 27:54holding. It's the same with.
- 27:56Look, I'm not if if I'm in first place, I have prison.
- 27:57I'm not trading him for Cairo, you know what I mean?
- 27:59Yeah. But if somebody's giving me
- 28:01like, I don't know, JT Miller, then probably, yeah.
- 28:04Yeah, it's, it's obviously it's the same for buying him.
- 28:06It all depends on the price. At the end of the day, it's, you
- 28:09know, if you can get something solid for him in return, then do
- 28:11it. If and if you can get him for
- 28:13not too much, then do it. But if the price isn't right,
- 28:16then don't do it. Cool, those are all the options
- 28:20through. Dowdy returns tonight, January
- 28:2329th and will reclaim his power play one spot Brand Clark is a
- 28:27healthy scratch despite being their defenseman with the most
- 28:30points on the season possible. Trade incoming.
- 28:33OK, for real life purposes, this to me is massive.
- 28:37For fantasy, Clark hasn't really been relevant and a fortnight.
- 28:41But yeah, I mean, in real life, I mean, Brian Clark this time
- 28:46last year was regarded as probably the best defensive
- 28:49prospect in the league. So what are your thoughts?
- 28:52I mean, I don't think we need to spend that much time on this
- 28:54because we've been expecting Daddy to come back.
- 28:57Brent Clark hasn't been relevant, like you said, for a
- 28:59while and Daddy just slide in on that power play one.
- 29:02He's going to be a boost at a power play probably.
- 29:06He's never known for being like a double, double type of player
- 29:09or whatnot. But if you can help the Kings
- 29:11power play that's kind of been underperforming the whole
- 29:13season, then it's a W. If he's on your waivers at him.
- 29:17He was on waivers for over a third of leagues in Yahoo leads
- 29:22and see how it goes, but I'm expecting some positive things.
- 29:25Yeah, we've, we've mentioned this a bit on the news for the
- 29:28past couple of couple of weeks because he just kept being
- 29:31expected back and finally it's happening.
- 29:33So we won't talk too much about it like Kevin said, But I think
- 29:35he's an easy pickup if he's available.
- 29:37And I'm pretty excited as a anyone, as someone who owns any
- 29:41of the other four players on power play, one on the Kings.
- 29:43I think they all should see a bit of a boost.
- 29:47Agreed. Kaden Gooley out indefinitely
- 29:49after getting surgery today again January 29th.
- 29:53Not too much fantasy relevance but a big blow to the Habs
- 29:56playoff hopes. So Google is one of those guys.
- 29:59I don't know what your opinions are on this but for me it's like
- 30:02he's great in real life. Not super fantasy relevant but
- 30:06at the end of the day yes it is a big blow to your to the hubs
- 30:10as well. If you do own GUI because you're
- 30:13a block heavy league, he's been good for that.
- 30:16Otherwise, I don't really think it shifts things too much around
- 30:19for fantasy hockey purposes. Yeah, he's he's just a solid
- 30:23depth banger that you know, could go on streaks of putting
- 30:25up good hits and blocks and mostly blocks.
- 30:28So, you know, he's on some rosters.
- 30:30But yeah, it's not too big of a lost fantasy wise.
- 30:32It's really for the actual Habs who are clawing their way for
- 30:36one of those wild card spots. It's pretty brutal.
- 30:39And all of all of us, you know, being Habs fans of watching the
- 30:42Habs do so well recently and and, you know, beat some strong
- 30:44teams, it's kind of just a bummer.
- 30:46Feels like we always get something like this happened to
- 30:48our team, whether it's one of our top players or just a
- 30:52foundational piece. Not, not new for us, these
- 30:56injuries. No.
- 30:59Miro Heiskanen left the game early with a bad looking leg
- 31:02injury. No details are out yet, but we
- 31:05expect him to be out for a bit based on how bad it looked.
- 31:08It was really brutal. Thomas Harley is gonna take over
- 31:11the power play one spot most likely, and if that does happen,
- 31:15he's going to be a must add in all leagues.
- 31:17Yeah, I mean, Harley's been one of the guys that I've kind of
- 31:19hated this whole year because he's like 70% owned and does
- 31:23nothing for fantasy team. But of course, all those guys
- 31:26that were holding him are now gonna get blessed because he's
- 31:28gonna get hurt. Huge loss for Dallas I think
- 31:31because he's going just a really good NHL defenseman and he was
- 31:34just starting to pop off as well.
- 31:35Hopefully doesn't miss too much time.
- 31:37Dallas has a really great playoff schedule as well.
- 31:39Hopefully that's not impacted for his skin, but yeah, hardly.
- 31:43If he's on waivers, pick him up scum because he'll be super
- 31:45valuable right now. Would you trade low for Haskin?
- 31:49What are you offering? Like I, I I would try to get his
- 31:52head right now. I would definitely try and buy
- 31:56low and he skin in. I mean, I don't know if you
- 31:58would want to wait and see until there's a general timeline out
- 32:01or just do it now with the uncertainty.
- 32:03But when I see a guy get injured, other than immediately
- 32:06looking at who's the replacement and seeing if that's a pickup,
- 32:09I'm always immediately thinking of trying to buy low.
- 32:11Obviously you don't always have the luxury of that if you don't
- 32:13have free IR spots, but if you do, then I think these are the
- 32:16type of moves that when you championships.
- 32:19Would you trade away Drew Dowdy for Haskin in return?
- 32:22Yeah, I would. I think I would as well.
- 32:25I think that's like the type of thing that could get done
- 32:27because we have no idea how good Daddy's going to be.
- 32:30He's got the big name and he hasn't been super fantasy
- 32:33relevant over the past few years.
- 32:35So I think, well, he's been good, but not great.
- 32:38And yeah, I think that's a good idea.
- 32:41And also, yeah, I mean, with Thomas Harley, you're right.
- 32:44If you held on to him all year with his low production and high
- 32:47roster percentage, you're pulling a classic and rejoicing.
- 32:51Sorry. Oh yeah.
- 32:52Would you? Would you trade Eric Carlson
- 32:54for? To me, Eric Carlson's almost in
- 32:59that territory of high percentage that should be owned.
- 33:02Yeah, yeah, yeah. Fun.
- 33:04It's, it's horrible, actually. Jigs Eric Carlson, owner for
- 33:08one. O'clock I have Gustav Forsling
- 33:10and Eric Carlson on my main team and I I don't know why I'm
- 33:12giving fantasy hockey advice, but I've been doing well
- 33:15recently. At least Forsling was a stream,
- 33:18you know, like you weren't holding on to him all season.
- 33:20I tried to drop him for Marco Kasper last night but I got
- 33:23vultures so not fun. Fab.
- 33:26When we spend all our fab. That'd be like that.
- 33:30Cool, then you got Dylan. Gunther is now day-to-day and
- 33:33should return soon. No Josh Stone, I just dated
- 33:38myself. Oh God, done.
- 33:40Will probably be sent down and schmaltz.
- 33:42People finally know Jake is a 50 year old man.
- 33:48Yeah, yeah, wow, wow, Shane Doan.
- 33:50What a blast from the past. Anyway, OK, so that's pretty
- 33:54much mainly what there is to say on that.
- 33:56We'll see Schmaltz how he's gonna do there, but Gunther was
- 33:59amazing this whole season so he's gonna be line one power
- 34:01play or. Schmaltz is when he returns.
- 34:04Schmaltz is gonna be a cell high right now.
- 34:05If you can trade him off. The production has been really
- 34:07hot these last few weeks. I would try to get any type of
- 34:10player that's going to be like a mainstay on your roster for the
- 34:12rest of the season. Might still be valuable,
- 34:15obviously, but it's just like, you know, Dylan coming into
- 34:17them, she's going to lose that line, one spot most likely and
- 34:20the P1 spot might be up for grabs depending on how they do
- 34:25because Don was there. So we'll see.
- 34:27But. It's an easy, easy probably get
- 34:29sent down. So it's again there's gonna take
- 34:31a spot, play one small isn't getting bumped off power play
- 34:33one even strength. Yeah, he's probably gonna take a
- 34:36dip, but I don't think he's gonna become a drop.
- 34:39I do think he's a sell high right now.
- 34:40Depends on how deep is, obviously.
- 34:42Obviously, yeah, but I don't think he's gonna stop being
- 34:45productive completely. I think it's just gonna be a
- 34:48compared to what the crazy stuff he's been doing in the past
- 34:50month. But Gunter was sick and I'm
- 34:52really excited for him to be back cause he's one of those
- 34:54guys that's gonna get you a lot of points and shots.
- 34:56So yeah. Just fun to watch.
- 34:58Yeah, your window to buy low is probably closing by the time you
- 35:03listen to this. Hopefully it's not closed and
- 35:06maybe you can trade from. It wouldn't be a news and
- 35:11updates episode if we didn't mention big squishy Leanness
- 35:15Almark, who is expected to be back sometime this week.
- 35:23Yeah, we're in the league. OK, well we know how to bleep
- 35:28now so. So maybe we'll.
- 35:29Have to. We're just saying his name, not
- 35:30saying anything crazy. That's true.
- 35:32That's big lean as Almark. Yeah, biggest leanest around
- 35:34cool. I'd expect Marilyn to stay as
- 35:37the backup and for Forsberg to be sent down.
- 35:39But regardless Almark should get most of the starts moving
- 35:42forward. I don't know.
- 35:44I haven't looked into the contract situation with
- 35:46Forsberg. It may be more, it may be easier
- 35:49to send down Marilyn, but if it's like a merit based Merlin
- 35:54has been far superior. Now if Merlin us stay up, do you
- 35:58think it's going to be like like a full on Vasilevsky Johansson
- 36:02like split with all mark taking the vast majority or will it be
- 36:06closer to a tandem between all and Marilyn and?
- 36:09I think the only reason why it wouldn't be like all marketing,
- 36:13the majority of starts would be like injury risk.
- 36:16If they're kind of like worried about that, then maybe at least
- 36:19at the beginning they're kind of ease him in.
- 36:22But I think like at most you're going to see airline and get 1/3
- 36:26of starts. I don't see him getting more
- 36:28than that. Yeah, I feel the same.
- 36:30I think all Mark has been a buy low candidate for a while now
- 36:32due to injury and now that we finally have some clarity that
- 36:34is actually going to be back and feel a lot more comfortable
- 36:37trying to buy him. So if he's available in your
- 36:40league, I mean Ottawa's got a great playoff schedule as well.
- 36:43I would consider sending some offers if you can get them right
- 36:46now before he starts playing and doing well again.
- 36:48Like I would probably trade this is just me personally, but if
- 36:51you can trade like Brovsky for him, I would Joey, Decor,
- 36:55Swamin. These are all type of guys that
- 36:57I feel like our middle tier where Mark is probably a safer
- 36:59bet to be better. I would try to do those trades.
- 37:01I. Agree with all of those.
- 37:04Logan Thompson are all more grass this season.
- 37:06Thompson. That's close.
- 37:08Honestly, I think, I think I think all Mark because of
- 37:11getting more starts like we've seen, we've seen trying to
- 37:14linger and come in and get a shout out as well.
- 37:15So we're kind of noticing that it's not necessarily maybe
- 37:17purely Logan Thompson being insane, which he is a good
- 37:20goalie, but Charlie Lindgren just kind of reminded us that
- 37:23he's still there and he's still get some starts.
- 37:25Like they were splitting before he got hurt.
- 37:26So don't forget that. Would you trade Freddie Anderson
- 37:29for him? Who just got a shout out?
- 37:30For all Mark, yes, yes, absolutely, but I I wouldn't
- 37:33trade Thompson for him No, I think Thompson is better even
- 37:36with the. If you had to get, if you had to
- 37:38give value to get Almark with Tom said I wouldn't, but a
- 37:41straight swap I probably would. I guess it's tough because the
- 37:46only reason I could see taking all Mark over Thompson would be
- 37:49the volume. But we still, we don't know yet
- 37:51what the volume is going to look like.
- 37:52So it's a it's a bit risky to do that.
- 37:55But we know that Thompson is probably going to get 5050
- 37:57right. So yeah, that's fair.
- 37:58And yeah, so that's fair. I'll Mark Will.
- 38:00But if it's barely any more volume for all Mark, then I'm
- 38:02taking Thompson. I think it would have to be like
- 38:05all marketing, like 80% of the starts for it to be like
- 38:08probably Hallmark. Yep.
- 38:12OK, let's move on to the would you rather sections.
- 38:16Do not do this to me again, Jake.
- 38:17Do not do this to me again. Yeah.
- 38:19It's been. Haunting me.
- 38:20It's been haunting me in my dream.
- 38:22Since you felt so bad, you feel guilty, don't you?
- 38:24Yeah, yeah. No, I totally Marco Kasper do
- 38:26you last week and I'm just gonna like I'm just gonna let that let
- 38:30this is yours. So without further ado.
- 38:34Alright, well, I'm going to expect my co-host to be ready to
- 38:37answer these and have some stats pulled up.
- 38:39Maybe potentially, but this is an exciting one.
- 38:43Would you rather for the rest of the season, Philip Forsberg, who
- 38:48has been the best fantasy player over the last couple of weeks,
- 38:51or Mikko Rantanen, newly acquired Caroline Hurricane?
- 38:54Forsberg I was so ready. I I I think these are really
- 39:02great from you, Kevin, most of the time.
- 39:03And it's a very good question to ask, especially because who
- 39:06knows what Ranton's going to do on the Hurricanes?
- 39:08But this is. Really if you have rented on
- 39:10your team you can probably get Forsberg even though he's been
- 39:12insane. Like Reference just has that
- 39:15first round pick pedigree that we know is always going to be
- 39:18good. Yeah, I'm, I'm taking forest
- 39:21work here for sure. I'm I guess I might be the the
- 39:25unpopular 1 here but I'm taking rant and and I know I have the
- 39:28stats pulled up. I'm not I'm not blind.
- 39:30I see over the past month Forsberg has been like 2.
- 39:34He's been the best fantasy. Player like it's.
- 39:37Playing with Jonathan Marshall the goat.
- 39:39Yeah, exactly. No, obviously Forsberg has been
- 39:42absolutely unreal. I think you have to remember
- 39:45also his kind of like week start to the season though.
- 39:47Just because he's being unreal right now doesn't mean he's
- 39:49gonna be this unreal for the rest of the season.
- 39:51Actually, I'll guarantee you he's not gonna put up these.
- 39:52Numbers. He's a sell.
- 39:54He's averaging 1.6 points per year over the last month.
- 39:56Like one point. Nobody's finishing.
- 39:58That power play points, 4.3 shots, 1.4 hits.
- 40:00This is literally like the best player you'll ever see in your
- 40:02life. So yes, he's he's he's a cell.
- 40:04Hi. I think it's a great question
- 40:06because Rantanen, I think we all kind of agree, loses a bunch of
- 40:09value with the trade. But at the end of the day, if
- 40:11you can get like a top five guy, like that's what I'm saying.
- 40:15Yeah. So I'm going with Rantanen
- 40:17because I just think he's I think this is the perfect time
- 40:20to do this trade. I think if you look at this in a
- 40:21couple of weeks, the Rantanen owner wouldn't even consider it.
- 40:25But I think, I think now if you wanted to try and do it, now
- 40:27would be the time. This to me is less being super
- 40:30high on Forsberg and being low on rants and moving forward.
- 40:33How low though? Like you don't think he's like a
- 40:36second round pick or at least. Yeah, before we played like a
- 40:39first round pick. Yeah, Forsberg putting up
- 40:42McKinnon numbers, just without the faceoffs.
- 40:45No, it's, it's more, it's just like the numbers.
- 40:48I just don't know how this is gonna work.
- 40:50I mean, like, like I said, past five years, only Sebastian Aho
- 40:54has gotten more than a point per game on the Hurricanes.
- 40:57They brought in a superstar, should work.
- 41:00What is it over the last five years?
- 41:02There's like I think Mika Renton has the 4th most points in the
- 41:05entire league. But Rod Rod has one goal and
- 41:10it's to win. And at the end of the.
- 41:11Day and randomize their best player right now.
- 41:14Yeah, he is. No, you're, you're saying all
- 41:16the things that point to the fact that it should happen.
- 41:18I just don't trust it, that's all.
- 41:20It is really totally fair I. Think that's and I saw a stat
- 41:24since what is it since the new year, Forsberg has been involved
- 41:29on 50% of Nashville's goals or something so that often totally.
- 41:32Run. It's like the whole first line,
- 41:33right? That's the only line that's
- 41:35getting any kind of production. Yeah, so to me, I'm just gonna
- 41:38go forward confidently here ranting in.
- 41:41That's you go Josh, you're going Ranson and Kevin, whoever.
- 41:43You choose. I'm taking Rantanen.
- 41:45Let's go. I'm shocked.
- 41:47It's Mikko Rantanen. Listen, Forsberg's been insane.
- 41:50We just said it, but it's Mikko Rantanen.
- 41:53OK, let's see where we're at. I will say it's really hard not
- 41:57to get kind of pulled into how good players are, especially
- 42:01when they're on your team. And I'm not saying that's why
- 42:03you're making this decision, Jakey, but you're seeing
- 42:05Forsberg's insane numbers night after night and he's just
- 42:08bringing you all this joy and you're rejoicing everywhere.
- 42:10And it's just like it's hard. It's hard to separate that from
- 42:14and try and think of it more. But at the end of the day, it's
- 42:17Miko effing Randen, you know so. I am requesting a double beer
- 42:22bet with both of you. What's the What's the beer bet?
- 42:26I haven't thought of it yet, let's see.
- 42:28Well, we'll wrap back around. I think no Philip Forsberg ends
- 42:32the season from from January 29th until end of the fantasy
- 42:38season with more points than. Done.
- 42:40Taken deal. Yeah.
- 42:43OK, write that down. Add it double.
- 42:47Double. OK, let's move on to the next
- 42:50one. Wow, this is big.
- 42:51Alright, this next one, I think, I wonder if it's gonna be close
- 42:54or not for you guys, but I think it's close.
- 42:57Steven Stamkos, teammate of Philip Forsberg or Tim Stutzel.
- 43:02Rest of the season. I'm going, I'm going Stutzel.
- 43:06I know this is another one where one of the guys is way playing
- 43:10way better than the other. In the past month, Stamkos has
- 43:12been way better than still has been really bad lately and I've
- 43:15been trying to blow on him for weeks and me the time of day.
- 43:20But I think that I think Ottawa, their whole team is a buy low
- 43:25right now. I think all their top guys are
- 43:27really, really underperforming. They've got a great playoff
- 43:30schedule. So does Nashville, but Ottawa's
- 43:31I like slightly better. And I actually think that Almark
- 43:35coming back is going to be like kind of a catalyst for Ottawa
- 43:39turning things around. I think there's kind of like a,
- 43:43I don't know, I kind of like a mental aspect when you just when
- 43:45your goalie is playing amazing, not that Marilyn hasn't been
- 43:47solid, but like when your best like goalie comes back and he's
- 43:50playing amazing, it just hypes up the entire team and it leads
- 43:53to more offence as well. Like it's a mental thing when
- 43:55you play hockey, you kind of like feel it, you know, it's
- 43:57also the way hockey is very momentum game.
- 43:59You're letting a bad goal all of a sudden you're playing slower
- 44:01on your shift. So I think that Omar coming back
- 44:03is going to be a big boost for Ottawa and I like Stitches a
- 44:06lot. I mean, my take is very similar
- 44:10to what you said. I think we're seeing Nashville's
- 44:13first line be in saying one of the best lines in the whole
- 44:16league. And that's because it's, you
- 44:17know, it's Forsberg, Stamkos, Marshall.
- 44:19So so all those guys have been killing it lately.
- 44:21We going into the season, we had high expectations for Stamkos,
- 44:24right? So it's kind of just like
- 44:25separating where, you know, he was really bad for a large part
- 44:28of the season until something clicked and now is he producing
- 44:31it what we expected him to do? Is this sustainable?
- 44:34I don't know. We had expectations for students
- 44:36going in as well. So I think especially in bangers
- 44:38are getting those extra hits from Stutzel.
- 44:41He should be getting more shots. I would say it's going to come
- 44:44down to, you know, the power play and and the points and I
- 44:46think rest of the season I leans to sell as well.
- 44:49I will say before you go, I will say that even with how much
- 44:53better Nashville or top line has been and how bad still has been
- 44:57in the past month, still has more power play points than than
- 45:00Stamkos. Yeah, but the power has been
- 45:03killing it because I mean as a martial or I'm seeing it very
- 45:05often where every night he's kind of having a power plant and
- 45:07Forsberg as well, so. Stamkos is not that involved, it
- 45:09seems. Yeah, he's just not the guy
- 45:11that's getting getting in on those pieces.
- 45:12So I think I'd better soon Wikipedia.
- 45:16You can maybe do that right now. Yeah, I'm gonna go sizzle.
- 45:20I just think it's a safer bet, especially in bangers leagues.
- 45:23Points leagues is a bit of a different conversation, but I
- 45:25still think I'd lean still there.
- 45:27All right. Next one, Adam Fox or Shea
- 45:29Theodore? Off um, I think I feel a bit
- 45:34better about Shay Theodore. He's been really good.
- 45:37I know fox has been good too. It's just the Rangers are a bit
- 45:39of a mess and I don't know how things are going to shake out
- 45:42with who they're trading rest of the season.
- 45:43So I feel a bit better going Theodore here.
- 45:47I'm going to go with the fox on this one.
- 45:49I'm actually super low on fox in terms of bangers leagues.
- 45:53He's always a guy I kind of don't want on my team, but I'm
- 45:55looking at their numbers. And like the reason I don't like
- 45:57fox is because he's one of those like pure points defenseman who
- 46:00won't chip in on back cats. But Theodores back cats are even
- 46:03worse than foxes. So so if we take that out of the
- 46:06equation, it's just about points.
- 46:08I don't see Theodore getting more points than fox or at the
- 46:12very least I think it will be like the same.
- 46:13And fox has a bit more blocks than the adore and a bit more
- 46:16hits. So I would go with Fox.
- 46:18I think, I think for me it's really comes out of points
- 46:21because there are similar archetype of player where you
- 46:23know, they're not really getting any banger categories, but
- 46:25they're on one of the better power plays and teams overall in
- 46:28the league. I think the Rangers are starting
- 46:29to to come come back to life. They're probably going to be a
- 46:34blockbuster trade with them in the near future.
- 46:37So I expect Adam Fox to, you know, his point production to
- 46:40really be sustainable, whereas we saw share Theodore be like
- 46:42one of the best point producing defenseman for the last month
- 46:45and that's kind of already started to slow down a little
- 46:47bit. So I would take Adam Fox.
- 46:50The only thing is he has the worst playoff schedule.
- 46:52If looking at Championship League Two games that's not
- 46:54great to have. But yeah, the rest of season I
- 46:56would take Fox and Yep. Yeah, it's tough.
- 47:00It's a similar archetype. And yeah, I don't know, but
- 47:04yeah, I'm gonna go Theodore. But I see where both of you are
- 47:06coming. It's a really cool.
- 47:08This one's a coin flip to me. Alright, goalies time.
- 47:12Kevin Lankinen back up to Thatcher Demko or Joseph Wall
- 47:18back up Anthony Stolarz. I don't know.
- 47:20What do you guys? Think this Kevin gonna choose
- 47:22Kevin right now? I think for me, this is, I was
- 47:28gonna say it's an easy one, but it's not.
- 47:29It's actually a lot closer than I thought it was, but I still
- 47:31gotta go with wool. I will say that LinkedIn has way
- 47:34outperformed what I would expect of him this year.
- 47:37I was shocked when he got drafted in our in our league
- 47:40because I thought she also was going to be the guy who until
- 47:42Demco came back. And regardless, I thought that
- 47:44when Demco came back, whichever one of them was, the guy would
- 47:48immediately kind of, you know, go away.
- 47:50But Lankinen has been really, really good and deserves at
- 47:52least 50% of the starts. I think he's gonna get that too.
- 47:55With Demco, we're seeing him kind of get banged up too.
- 47:57Yeah, so I think, I think Lankinen will get 50% of starts
- 48:00going forward, but I think so as well.
- 48:02So then at the end of the day, you have to look at who's
- 48:04putting up the better numbers and who's on the better team.
- 48:06I think Toronto is a vastly better team than Vancouver.
- 48:08Vancouver is a mess and Wall is, you know, putting up just as
- 48:12good numbers as as Lincoln in. So to me it's well.
- 48:16Yeah, the only thing is how much how much does wall take a step
- 48:18backwards dollars comes in. We'll have to wait and see where
- 48:21I feel like lens values only to get stronger because it really
- 48:25seemed like they can rely on Demco to to hold like the volume
- 48:28of the starts. But but I agree with what you
- 48:30said. I think I have to go.
- 48:31Through walls or are too valuable in Vancouver such again
- 48:34all over the place team. Yeah, I can't trust it.
- 48:36That's why I would go with Wall. That's a deal breaker for me as
- 48:39well, but I think it's really close.
- 48:40Honestly. You're looking at type of
- 48:41archetype of goalie they are in terms of their tandem and their
- 48:44team. Like Vancouver should have been
- 48:46a top playoff team too. Right now they're going through
- 48:49it so, but Joseph Wall for me, Yep.
- 48:52All right, last one, fun one for me, Wyatt Johnston or Patrick
- 48:58Liney rest of season. I love this.
- 49:01This is this is huge. OK.
- 49:05Think I'm gonna go Wyatt. And Josh has a theory about
- 49:11second-half Fiala being a stud, and it's true, he's always picks
- 49:15it up. And I think it's the same thing
- 49:16with Johnston, even though this is only like his third year to
- 49:20finish. The last two seasons Johnson's
- 49:22been a monster and I think that that's going to happen again.
- 49:24So I'm going to go with Wyatt. But I do love Lynnae, so yeah.
- 49:29For me, this one, this one's not close.
- 49:31I think it's it's easily Johnston.
- 49:32I've been super high on Johnston all year, even when he wasn't
- 49:35doing well. And now he's just on fire.
- 49:38I think he just got a hat trick his last game.
- 49:39So he's he's really killing it right now and I was expecting
- 49:43him to kill it for longer. So this is not surprising to me
- 49:46and I think he's on a better team.
- 49:48I think they've both teams have equal playoff schedules.
- 49:51I really love lining. Obviously as a Habs fan, I'm
- 49:53not, I don't wanna like trash line or anything, but I feel
- 49:56that his production is super tied to the power play and the
- 49:59Habs our plan is not the most consistent so.
- 50:02I still think it's a good power play.
- 50:03Though it's a great power play, I'm not saying no shots at the
- 50:07house power play. I think it's way better than
- 50:09it's ever been from my memory. But at the end of the day, if
- 50:13most of your point production is based on the power play, it's
- 50:16just a lot more volatile. Whereas Johnston has shown that
- 50:18he could score even strength, power play and shorthanded.
- 50:21So I like Johnson a lot. I mean, I'm going to be the
- 50:24black sheep here because I'm going Patrick Liney.
- 50:26And the reasoning why the yeah, the reasoning why is I think the
- 50:30shots are going to be be negligible.
- 50:32I think they're going to be in the same kind of range of just
- 50:33over two shots per game. But I think rest of season, I
- 50:37think there's gonna be a significant disparity between
- 50:39the power play points. I think just being able to rely
- 50:42on line to get you PowerPoint every week to maybe is just
- 50:46really great value and you're playing fantasy.
- 50:48I think that's kind of like a big boost in points leagues and
- 50:52especially categories leagues, PowerPoints are really important
- 50:55and I think the points are gonna be close.
- 50:57But the fact that I can constantly say I think Patrick
- 50:59Lynn gets more power play points than why Johnson the rest of the
- 51:01season, that's the deal breaker for me.
- 51:05Fair enough. So 2 Johnston, one line a that's
- 51:09that's a close one. Though I think I've been on the
- 51:10winning side of all five of these.
- 51:13You OK, I will say how do you know but but you just met the
- 51:16that the two versus ones, yeah. Yeah.
- 51:18Is all I do is win still your ringtone?
- 51:21No, now it's Africa by Toto. That's funny, you know, but if I
- 51:29win my my 4th St. championship this year then maybe I'll change
- 51:32it back. You'll have to switch to
- 51:35something else. Yeah, OK, alright, thank you to
