Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to The Office of the Show covering the mighty Gulf, the NFL, pop culture, drinking culture and of course.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_01]: I sure is.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_01]: Now, you're your host, Alphar Tia, in myself.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_00]: And we're on, this is the off season with myself, Alphar Tia, I got and Marick Brave How are you, Marick?
- 0:25[SPEAKER_01]: I am good Alphar, we are...
- 0:28[SPEAKER_01]: A couple weeks removed from the NFL draft, right?
- 0:31[SPEAKER_01]: We got 13 new drafts, a slew of undrafted free agents coming to the Miami Dolphins.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_01]: We're kind of in that dead period before camp kicks off and there's not a lot going on.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_01]: So we're searching for stories, we're searching for content.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_01]: But thankfully, this isn't just a football show.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_01]: We can talk about whatever the hell we want, right?
- 0:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, no, and we're, we're barreling toward, uh, OTAs and all the stuff like I believe this this begins like next week.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_00]: Although rookie camp is like, like, I agree with Omar Kelly who said that it's completely useless.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_00]: It's essentially orientation.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_00]: Like, they tell everybody where the cafeteria and the bathrooms are like that.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so it's the first day at kindergarten.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, pretty much, you know.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_00]: But once the OTA start, it's different.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you know, they're laying down the groundwork of what training camp is supposed to look like.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, I've been watching a lot of shows and everybody's, you could tell that everybody's like searching for for content in the full health media space because everybody's like just trying to come out with their latest hot take on a player here or a player there.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_00]: Have you been consuming any football media?
- 1:50[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I'm a football junkie, just like yourself.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_01]: So I've been catching things here and there.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_01]: I watched, uh, halfway on the Richard Sherman podcast, which I'm doing every fucking show except hours.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_01]: Well, hey, shit, man.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_01]: Have you reached out?
- 2:05[SPEAKER_01]: Should we try and get them on?
- 2:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I guess.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_00]: I'll try.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he might do it, but I thought that was an interesting interview.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_01]: He confirmed that it was a, you know, a draft day scenario.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_01]: It was Caden Proctor no matter what.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_01]: That was their guy.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_01]: That's who they wanted.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_01]: He said if they stuck at 11, if they hadn't traded back with the Cowboys, they would have taken Caden Proctor, even with Caleb Downs and Ruben Bane still on the board.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_01]: You know, they passed on Bane.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_01]: Um, essentially passed on downs when they traded with the Cowboys, but they got two additional fifth round picks in the process, and it was, it was, it was Kate and Proctor all the way.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_01]: That was their guy a unique and special talent, um, not my words.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not the only one saying that John Erick Sullivan has said it many, many times since drafting Proctor at number 12 overall, but
- 2:54[SPEAKER_01]: he was their target.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_01]: He was their guy.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_01]: Whether we liked it or not, you know, and I don't think any of us saw that would coming, leading up to the draft, but but when it was all said and done, that's who they wanted.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_01]: That was their target.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_01]: That's who they got and they were able to get a couple extra fifth round picks in addition.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_01]: So I thought that was a good interview by by the new head coach on the Sherman podcast.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_00]: They made that trade knowing that the cowboys were going to take Caleb Downs, because you get insurance, okay?
- 3:31[SPEAKER_00]: So the video that they showed you, the 31 seconds, it doesn't show you the entire eight minutes.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, what those negotiations look like.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_00]: So they were good with the cowboys taking Caleb Downs off the board.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_00]: I'm told that they did consider Caleb Downs and they didn't consider Ruben Van Jr.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_00]: But they were good with the cowboys taking Caleb Downs
- 3:55[SPEAKER_00]: and they were happy to take Kate and Proctor.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of information now coming out to say in that.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_00]: The lions were really interested to moving the 14 because they wanted to get out in front of certain people to try to take care and proctor at 14.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_00]: And once we took them at 12.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_00]: They were like, okay, I guess that's over with.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_00]: So lions wanted them.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_00]: So I guess that's good news on that end.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_00]: A team that knows how to build an offensive line.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_00]: Actually like some.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_00]: So I guess that's a good thing.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_00]: So besides all the hottex, all the hottex I've been going around, where do you think that the hope because pretty soon we're going to see the team assembled, not in this rookie camp, which I believe is in a week or so.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_00]: But about a month from now, I think is the OTAs.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: So a month from now, we're going to see what this team actually looks like in totality.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I mean for me, and I think it would be smart for a lot of dolphins fans to kind of temper expectations, right?
- 5:04[SPEAKER_01]: It on paper, this is not a playoff team, right?
- 5:08[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I think at best they could be in the hunt, you know, in the hunt graphics towards the end of the season, if everything goes, right?
- 5:17[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but this is, this seems rebuilding, right?
- 5:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's no secret, this seems rebuilding.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_01]: They, they got rid of a whole bunch of players to a tongue of Aloha, gone.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_01]: Tyree Kill, gone.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_01]: Jail and Wattle, gone.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_01]: Bradley Chub, gone.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_01]: Jail and Phillips was traded mid mid year last year, so they're, they're starting over.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_01]: And they're, they're hoping that this infusion of young talent can, can lay the foundation.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_01]: for a successful rebuild, but it's going to take more than one off season, right?
- 5:46[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of new players, a lot of young players that are going to be culture, culture, setters, tone setters for this organization for many years to come, but if you're expecting a Super Bowl championship,
- 5:59[SPEAKER_01]: this year you're probably going to be a little bit disappointed.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_01]: So I think the hope comes from watching Malik Willis and finding out if he is your long-term answer at the quarterback position.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_01]: I'm really high on Malik.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_01]: I know you are too elf.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_01]: If we can see that he is the future at quarterback for the Miami Dolphins, yet still the Dolphins end up with a top five draft pick, then you could see them build out the rest of the roster.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe going get some some weapons.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_01]: They drafted three receivers, but they didn't draft one until the third round.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_01]: They took two in the third round and then they ended up.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_01]: getting Kevin Coleman later.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_01]: They're not done at that position.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_01]: I've seen a lot of early 2027 mock drafts projecting Jeremiah Smith, Ohio Statewide receiver generational passcatcher to the Miami Dolphins next year.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's a fantastic scenario.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_01]: If you get a foundation where you can go, okay, this team wasn't very good because it's year one, and they don't have all the pieces, and they were cap constraints.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_01]: But if you can see, okay, Malik Willis looks like the guy moving forward.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_01]: We have a strong foundation.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_01]: Now let's put some some sizzle on this team, you know what I mean?
- 7:11[SPEAKER_01]: Let's get some, let's get some of those weapons.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_01]: And if you can add a Jeremiah Smith again,
- 7:21[SPEAKER_01]: from this potentially becoming a reality, if the dolphins are even in a position to select a player like Smith next draft.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_01]: But if they can add somebody like that on the team and keep building around a core foundation, which is what we hope this current draft class becomes,
- 7:39[SPEAKER_01]: You could be looking at a team within two to three years that is competing for division titles and is making deep playoff runs.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_01]: Something we haven't seen in 30 plus years in South Florida.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_00]: As far as setting the expectations for this coming season,
- 7:59[SPEAKER_00]: Do you think that they will make the in the hunt graphic?
- 8:05[SPEAKER_00]: Let's see at what point in the season are we talking week by ever that they start showing it They start showing that in the hunt graphic like a month out like with a month left in the season.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_00]: So that means 13 games would have gone by.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_01]: uh... speaking realistically uh... i don't think so i don't uh... i think you know vagus has the over under uh... at four and a half wins i think was the last i saw so you know they're not really high on the team obviously
- 8:34[SPEAKER_01]: Things can change.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_01]: Things can go right.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_01]: A lot can go right for this team.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe there emphasis on size and physicality pays off.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe they hand the ball off to HN 30 times a game and they just run behind Patrick Paul and Kate and Proctor on the left side and he's averaging five and a half yards per carry and
- 8:55[SPEAKER_01]: and maybe with half Lee as a defensive coach, he gets these youngins, you know, coached up pretty quickly and we've got a good defense.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_01]: And we're winning games 20 to 17, you know, 14 to 10, you know what I mean?
- 9:10[SPEAKER_01]: Old school football, maybe it happens.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think it's going to happen, but I do expect the team to play hard.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_01]: I expect our opponents to feel it in the morning when they wake up on Mondays, like, oh shit, we just played the Miami Dolphins, and I expect them to lay the foundation for a successful rebuild for the next couple of years, heading forward, moving forward.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_01]: I just, I don't see it equating to a lot of wins.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_01]: We saw yesterday, it came out, the Dolphins
- 9:38[SPEAKER_01]: strength of schedule for for this upcoming season.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_01]: What that means in early May?
- 9:44[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_01]: You know this you take a look back
- 9:49[SPEAKER_01]: after the season's over and you can tell me if it means anything.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if it means much now, but dolphins are playing some good teams.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_01]: They have a young roster and they have a young coaching staff and inexperience coaching staff.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_01]: So do I expect them to win nine, ten games?
- 10:06[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_01]: Do I think six or seven games is out of the question?
- 10:10[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's certainly possible.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_01]: Well, we'll just have to see when it comes when it comes to it, but the team doesn't have to win games for you to know that they're headed in the right direction.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_01]: Do you agree with that out?
- 10:24[SPEAKER_00]: Um, yeah, although I will say this and I've said this before and some people have disagree with me.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_00]: If they have a disastrous season, okay, if we're talking about.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_00]: I complete unmitigated disaster overseas and your defense is in the bottom five.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_00]: You win two games or something like that.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_00]: You look terrible in doing so.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I could see how you fire Jeff Haffley and just reset the whole coaching staff once again.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_00]: So I would say,
- 11:02[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_00]: It's hard to to generate expectations from there, but if they went six or seven games, man, that puts you right in the conversation for getting into that graphic.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's the ceiling.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I think that's, if you could get into the, and I know, like, yeah, things have changed around here.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_00]: But let's face it.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_00]: And I've tried to explain to people
- 11:31[SPEAKER_00]: They failed miserably in 2023.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_00]: That was a Super Bowl caliber roster.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_00]: They just failed miserably.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_00]: And as a bad luck, bad injuries.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, let's not poo poo those, but they failed miserably in 2023.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_00]: In 2024 was a step back, but he still expected to be in the playoffs.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_00]: They won eight.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_00]: And then last year was kind of a reset year that they kind of set you up for.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_00]: And they still won seven.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know, if, yeah, I'm kind of wanting them to push that four and a half number.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_00]: If they could get to five, you got to be pretty, I don't know, I want to say excited about it.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_01]: You know, but it also depends on how they get to five, right?
- 12:18[SPEAKER_01]: We remember that that that first year with Brian Flores, right?
- 12:22[SPEAKER_01]: Where where the team was just a fucking joke.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_01]: for the first half of the year.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_01]: You know what was that that opener against Baltimore?
- 12:32[SPEAKER_01]: They lost by like 40 points.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_00]: It's the the opener against Baltimore has the distinction of the second largest margin of loss.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_00]: I believe in the last 40 years.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_00]: No, I thought about all time in the NFL.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, God.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_00]: Largest margin of victory.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_00]: That game against the Ravens was the second largest margin of victory in the last I believe 40 years.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_00]: Do you know what was first?
- 13:11[SPEAKER_01]: Was it our 70 point game?
- 13:13[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it was.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_00]: So we on the number one in the number two spot.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_01]: So maybe the worst thing that could have ever happened to a Mike McDaniel led team.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_01]: He got all of he he was feeling himself after that one.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, what's weird about that is that if you expand it to the playoffs We're actually number one because we lost 62 to set
- 13:33[SPEAKER_01]: I cried.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_01]: I was I was in middle school.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_01]: I think I was in eighth grade for Marino's last game.
- 13:39[SPEAKER_01]: I cried.
- 13:39[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not gonna lie.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_00]: So let's just keep this that let's just keep the stat at the regular season level and we're number one in the good way and number two in the bad way
- 13:48[SPEAKER_01]: So anyways, but going back to that to that, you know, first floor is here, it started off miserable, right?
- 13:54[SPEAKER_01]: And and for those first couple weeks, you were like, this team's not winning a game.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_01]: We were going, oh, we're, we're not winning a single game this year, but yeah, we did, we did, I, I, I preview show that year.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_00]: We were like, I think zero is on the table.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_01]: it is it was on the table and and it honestly if you put money on that it was looking pretty good a couple weeks into the season but that team pulled it together right and and say what you will about Brian Flores as as a communicator you know certainly not the the best at that and you know he was doing some some nefarious things behind the scenes which we all know but he was
- 14:37[SPEAKER_01]: for the entire season, and I remember Thanksgiving, they upset the Philadelphia Eagles that year, you know, and the Eagles were a good team.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_01]: So,
- 14:49[SPEAKER_01]: could this team this year, could they be on the same trajectory, right?
- 14:53[SPEAKER_01]: Could they start off with some really embarrassing losses, but pull it together by the end of the year because they believe in the messaging from the coaching staff?
- 15:03[SPEAKER_01]: It's certainly possible.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_01]: It's certainly possible.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_01]: Not going to rule it out, especially on May 6th year.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_01]: But it depends on how you get to those four or five wins, right?
- 15:13[SPEAKER_01]: If you start Owen 6 and then start rattling off some wins towards the end of the year,
- 15:18[SPEAKER_01]: you feel solid going into next season you there's a little bit of hope there but if you start out you know three and two and you're like hey man maybe we actually have something here and then you just lose like ten games in a row that maybe changes your perspective as you move into next season.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_00]: All right we're gonna go to break but before we do let me tell you about only fence go to our discord and you could join there at discord.gg4dslash

- 16:25[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_01]: I was wondering what all the ones hold on now.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_01]: If I got I got some breaking news.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, Ted Turner has passed away at the age of 87.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 16:35[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 16:37[SPEAKER_00]: For those of you who don't know, and I'm pretty sure there's some of you in the audience that are thinking, who?
- 16:45[SPEAKER_00]: Ted Turner was one of the most influential media figures in American history.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_00]: He started the cable revolution, founded CNN, and more famously, and kind of relevant to this podcast,
- 17:03[SPEAKER_00]: But WCW, and was the biggest competition ever for the WWE.
- 17:10[SPEAKER_00]: At least from the territory era, because some people say, because a lot of people take a, take a issue with that, they're like, WCW was the first time that people competed.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_00]: And what's your show?
- 17:20[SPEAKER_00]: Because I remember very clear when the WWE was pretty big for our championship wrestling, Georgia championship wrestling, all that, all that was pretty well known, and WA was pretty well known as well.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, Ted Turner, kind of a media giant, a media, an American media giant.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_01]: And kind of a cowboy, you know what I mean?
- 17:39[SPEAKER_01]: Like, like, you know, throwing all caution to the wind.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_01]: He wasn't one of these buttoned up, you know, tied, hide, super tight, you know, he kind of did things his way.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_01]: So you got to give him props for that.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_01]: And without Ted Turner, I think the wrestling business,
- 17:56[SPEAKER_01]: looks a lot different than it does today.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_01]: You know, ultimately he lost the Monday night wars to Vince McMahon and WWE, but that competition is what gave us things like the NWO and DX and and the rock and stone cold Steve Austin, you know, like without Ted Turner, I don't I don't know if
- 18:21[SPEAKER_01]: professional wrestling is as big as it is today in 2026.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah and and when and when we say that he lost the money night wars it wasn't for for a lack of trying.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_00]: It was essentially and a lot of people don't don't know this.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of documentaries on the money night wars and the one that I like the best
- 18:48[SPEAKER_00]: because they got into the weeds of it.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_00]: And essentially what killed it for WCW, although WW did overtake them because the quality of their show got better.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_00]: It's as simple as that.
- 19:00[SPEAKER_00]: Like there's no way around it if you compare the shows toward the end of the run, WW was just better, okay?
- 19:08[SPEAKER_00]: But Warner, when they had the merger, there were certain executives that didn't understand wrestling as a business.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_00]: didn't understand that having that content block was actually a good thing and they wanted to see actual profits from that content block.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_00]: And you can have profits when you're essentially paying people millions of dollars to stay home all the time.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_00]: So they didn't understand wrestling as a content vehicle as far as drawing eyeballs to your network.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_00]: But I know who does understand bringing eyeballs to your network, and that's WWE, and I always thought I like my comedic wrestling in moderation.
- 20:01[SPEAKER_00]: All right, and I think we talked about this one time before, but yes, that is something happened to me that I was like, yeah, I guess I'm not the only one friend of mine called me and tells me now, you know, and after we talk a little bit, he goes, hey, did you watch raw and I'm like, no, I didn't watch raw and he's like, now I'm wondering who den houses mystery partners going to be.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_00]: for Saturday and like okay this is something that never really talks wrestling with me very rarely like you know there's somebody that just shows up around Russell Mania to see Russell Mania like only watch wrestling with this person
- 20:35[SPEAKER_00]: maybe at Royal Rumble and Russell Mania, that's it, that's the only time you'll call me to say, hey, I'm coming over to watch wrestling, right?
- 20:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_00]: But he's very interested in what's going to happen on Saturday.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_00]: I'm very interested in what's happening on Saturday.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_00]: Then housing is as hot as you can get as far as wrestling right now.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_00]: That's common, that's comedic wrestling,
- 21:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I worry about overexposure when it comes to den housing.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I worry about that too.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_01]: You're quite a bit, you know, so we'll see the audience so fickle, right?
- 21:14[SPEAKER_01]: The audience is so fickle.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_01]: We love him.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_01]: We love him.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_01]: We want to see him.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, no, no, no, we don't want to see him that much.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_01]: You know, so you got to worry about the over exposure factor, but as far as comedy wrestling goes, I'm a huge fan of comedy wrestling, probably just because I've been in the business for so long and I've seen so much wrestling, you know?
- 21:34[SPEAKER_01]: I had yesterday I watched five matches from students of mine who have sent their matches in for critiques, you know?
- 21:42[SPEAKER_01]: And that's just on a Tuesday afternoon, you know what I mean?
- 21:53[SPEAKER_01]: everything else that's going on you know when when when when you go to the circus of course you want to you want to you want to see the strong men you want to see the bearded lady you want to see the trapeze artists but you got to have your clowns you got to have your comedic relief you got to have people who go out there and they lighten the mood and and Dan housing is that and I think he does a a really good job his character is hilarious it's getting over with the audience again we got to worry about that over exposure but
- 22:23[SPEAKER_01]: You put him out there and he is guaranteed to give you something different than anybody else who's employed by that that company right now He's going to show you something that you haven't seen that night or or in recent memory, you know, so as far as his mystery a partner goes for Saturday.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_01]: Got any guesses out?
- 22:46[SPEAKER_00]: I was wondering this myself
- 22:50[SPEAKER_00]: Like what could be like, you know, and what direction do you want to go?
- 22:59[SPEAKER_00]: Do you want to go like a complete clown show?
- 23:03[SPEAKER_00]: Or do you want something that's going to surprise the miss, right?
- 23:10[SPEAKER_00]: How about Brock Lesnar?
- 23:13[SPEAKER_01]: be wild.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_01]: I doubt it happens just because I doubt Brock would allow it to happen, but no one be insanity.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't know.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what I'm going to use.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_00]: Would you use our truth?
- 23:27[SPEAKER_00]: Like that's the predictable angle, right?
- 23:29[SPEAKER_01]: Our truth certainly fits the mold.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_01]: What about the iguana guy, mystery guano?
- 23:35[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that people, I don't know, WB fans are too into him, you know, across all, you know, all platforms.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_01]: I got another one, Alfa.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_01]: What about Santino Morella?
- 23:53[SPEAKER_00]: So you're going complete clown show, that's what I'm leaning into it, man.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_01]: I'm leaning into it.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_01]: Who could be friends with the Dan Housing?
- 24:03[SPEAKER_01]: Centino Morella could be friends with the Dan Housing.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_00]: I also like, I also like that the Dan Housing is offering $400 human dollars.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_00]: It makes a question.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_00]: Have you taken the $400 human dollars?
- 24:17[SPEAKER_01]: I would gladly take the $400 human to team with Dan Housing.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_01]: As long as he takes all the bumps, I don't want to bump.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_00]: So, so you would go full clown show.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_00]: I would go, I would go, you know, the opposite way.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_00]: I'd go like, you know, Dan Housing has some cloud and he's going to get himself a really good partner.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_00]: You know, so you would go clown show.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_00]: So, all right, go ahead and book this thing.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, like I said, I'd probably, I probably would book Santino Morella, right?
- 24:47[SPEAKER_01]: Just for the nostalgia factor, but also because, you know, he fits the mold, right?
- 24:53[SPEAKER_01]: He's a pure comedic wrestler for the most part.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm bringing somebody like him in, um, I mean, if you want to go the other way with it, wouldn't it be fun if he teamed with Kane?
- 25:04[SPEAKER_01]: What if Kane came back, full mask, everything?
- 25:06[SPEAKER_01]: You know, because Dan Housing's very evil, Cain is very evil himself.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_01]: Wouldn't it be cool to have him team with Cain?
- 25:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, if Uncle Tigger could move, you know.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_01]: There he go.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_01]: Take her to be a good one.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Opa Femi has a match on the card.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_01]: I believe so, yeah, probably it probably not him.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_01]: It's got to be, in my opinion, it's got to be some sort of nostalgia act, you know what I mean?
- 25:32[SPEAKER_01]: Somebody that, that when you watch it happen, you go, okay, this is a one-off.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_01]: It's not like Dan Housing and so-and-so are going to be a team from now on, but somebody that is a higher gun, right?
- 25:44[SPEAKER_01]: Who needs the $400 human dollars?
- 25:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, if I'll tell you one thing, if you really want
- 25:53[SPEAKER_00]: Somebody who did the best work with Dan Housen ever was William Riegel.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_01]: How I'd love it.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_01]: I'd love it.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_00]: It's William Riegel, Riegel's back with a company, right?
- 26:03[SPEAKER_00]: Or is he still with AEW?
- 26:05[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not 100% sure on that one, actually.
- 26:10[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm wondering who that mystery, like we're into it.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_00]: Like we're trying to figure out who is going to be this mystery partner.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_01]: And that's what it's all about, right?
- 26:18[SPEAKER_01]: Like picking our interests.
- 26:20[SPEAKER_01]: We want to know.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I didn't think that this miss thing was going to work.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_00]: It's worked gangbuster.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_00]: It just works.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_01]: It misses misses so good at playing this role.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_01]: You know, he's so good at being the straight man in a comedy segment.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_01]: You know, he comes in and says, no, no, I.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_01]: and he doesn't the best part is you know he doesn't take himself seriously and he would have every right to He's one of the longest tenured members of the roster.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_01]: He's a multi-time WWE champion, you know, he beat John Cena in the main event of a WrestleMania.
- 26:55[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't well received, but but it's on his resume
- 26:59[SPEAKER_01]: So he plays, he does such a good job of being the straight man in a comedy segment or comedy feud, which is exactly what this is.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_01]: So for me, I lean more comedy, but either way, I think it's, you know, whether you go with a monster, like a cane or somebody like that, like you said Brock Lesnar or you go comedy, I think people will be tuning in to find out and they'll just be excited to watch it.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_00]: Hmm, I'm trying, now I'm really, really confused.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_00]: Hmm, like what, and what direction they could go?
- 27:40[SPEAKER_01]: What if he was, what if he did somebody like doink the clown?
- 27:43[SPEAKER_01]: What if we get somebody in the doink face paints and he comes out?
- 27:47[SPEAKER_01]: We get, we get a doink the clown reborn.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_00]: Doink housing?
- 27:53[SPEAKER_01]: Ah, I'd love it, elf, doink housing sounds fantastic.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like, who has the interacted with recently?
- 28:05[SPEAKER_01]: Shit, I don't know, man.
- 28:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they could just bring back for, you know, on a subcontractor basis, the new day.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_00]: You saw that they can't, you know, that you didn't funny, right?
- 28:15[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody would lose their minds.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the new day, I don't know, like, what can the new day charge to show up at back?
- 28:20[SPEAKER_00]: Back rush, you know, 20 grand?
- 28:23[SPEAKER_01]: That's a great question.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_01]: Without naming names, I've reached out to some recently released talent.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_01]: And their prices are a little high right now.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_01]: Let me say, let me say.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm figuring 20 grand gets to Xavier Woods and Coffee Kingston for a comedy match.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, probably.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that good work if you could get it, man.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_01]: 10 minutes, 15 minutes of in-ring action, minimal bumps.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but then house and absolutely works.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_00]: I love that he has 38 and he keeps mentioning it, too, which is great like he's breaking that fourth wall when and It's still my favorite skit since WrestleMania, which is the myth saying how come I only have one shirt in the store and then house and says I have five
- 29:15[SPEAKER_00]: And the the merch guy says no you have 35 I have 35 merch items in the store and sure of they show the store and at WrestleMania and it's like Jesus it's like it's a whole wing of the store is that house and stuff.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_00]: He's over, man, hopefully he's getting a good cut of the, I also like he's only wrestled twice, like, you know, saved, saved that, you know, you know, although supposedly he had broken his leg really, really bad one time.
- 29:44[SPEAKER_00]: And that's why he's kind of limited to what he can do as far as in-ring stuff.
- 29:50[SPEAKER_00]: Do you know anything about that?
- 29:51[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_01]: I wasn't, uh, I didn't follow his career on the independence too closely, like I mentioned prior.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_01]: He was actually supposed to be a student in mind.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_01]: He was supposed to be in the first class of Black and Brave Wrestling, but he ended up meeting to drop out due to financial reasons or something like that.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_01]: So hopefully he finally gets his cut of the 35 merch items and he can come back and finish his training with us.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, my friends, I think that they're just bringing out the little people and I was trying to explain to them, this is a big corporation.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_00]: This is TKO and you can't hurt little people and you could probably hurt them if you put them in bad situations so you can't have them take bumps and then you explain to me, well, at WrestleMania one time, King Kong Bundy splashed with a little person and I'm taking them myself at that time, Vince was probably telling King Kong Bundy, if you could kill this guy on
- 30:48[SPEAKER_00]: it would be of great help to me, because I got my entire life savings into this show.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_00]: So, if you can build better some money on national television, you know?
- 30:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, right?
- 31:00[SPEAKER_01]: Definitely a different era for sure.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so I don't think they're doing that, okay?
- 31:05[SPEAKER_00]: So, I'm completely confused as to, I hope it's not a letdown.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_00]: Like the biggest letdown ever would be, it was just art truth, right?
- 31:13[SPEAKER_00]: Because that's what you expected to be.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_00]: Sure.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_00]: Any chance it's Jericho?
- 31:18[SPEAKER_00]: Because it could be like a big return, right?
- 31:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think Jericho kind of cemented his status as an AEW guy.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_01]: recently.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_01]: So probably not him, but you know, that would be fun.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_01]: It would be fun.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, usually usually guys that are that are like the comedic acts are never like the straight acts and then the straight acts are never the comedic acts.
- 31:42[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm wondering if they do a crossover or it's just going to be a comedic act.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_00]: And if it's a comedic act, I guess what jelly roll maybe?
- 31:52[SPEAKER_01]: Oh God, I think the fans would shit all over that.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't have a problem with Jelly Rolls involvement.
- 31:59[SPEAKER_01]: I know a lot of the internet was really mad and sure, a WrestleMania main event does not need the celebrity interaction from McAfee and Jelly Roll.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_01]: But does anyone remember the main event of WrestleMania 1?
- 32:14[SPEAKER_01]: with Mr. T in the ring, one of the biggest celebrities in the world at that time, and Cindy Lopper was there and Liberace was there.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_01]: We saw Lawrence Taylor wrestle in the main event of a WrestleMania a few years later Like this wasn't uncharted territory.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_00]: This type of stuff has happened before Yeah, I'm wondering I'm wondering who it is any predictions?
- 32:39[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I guess I will go, uh, final prediction.
- 32:43[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to go with Santino Morella.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know why.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_01]: I just, I think he hits the nostalgia button and also he, he's a good worker, too.
- 32:52[SPEAKER_01]: I think Santino, he gets pigeoned hold as a comedic wrestler.
- 32:55[SPEAKER_01]: But he's actually just a really solid wrestler, uh, in and up itself or in and in its own right.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_00]: Hmm.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_00]: I'm wondering.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, why are we limiting it to just men, you know?
- 33:09[SPEAKER_00]: Sure, there you go.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_00]: You know, he could bring on, I don't know, like who could it be?
- 33:15[SPEAKER_00]: A launcher blaze.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_00]: Perfect.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_00]: Beth Phoenix.
- 33:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there you go.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_01]: That's a good one too.
- 33:23[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_00]: I completely confused by it.
- 33:25[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm intrigued by it.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_00]: And that's why it's over, but I agree with you.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_00]: Like they got to slow it down just a little bit.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_00]: You know, too much then housing might not work, you know?
- 33:37[SPEAKER_00]: Just sprinkle it like once a week, like just give us a little down housing segment.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_00]: Make a one.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_01]: Make the people want it.
- 33:43[SPEAKER_01]: I always tell the story about how I went to a motley crew concert a few years back.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_01]: And for the first half hour and the last half hour, it was the best concert I ever saw for the two hours in between that.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, just get to the fucking hits, man.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to hear these B-sides.
- 33:59[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, my favorite, I still, my favorite skit has been everything he's done with CM Punk and supposedly they're really, really close.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_01]: They are.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_00]: So what did it just make sense?
- 34:11[SPEAKER_00]: Like CM Punk essentially has like if you have a to do roster, I don't think he's on the card.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_00]: Is he?
- 34:19[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, I'm not positive, but I would be down for that.
- 34:22[SPEAKER_01]: That would be really cool.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_01]: And what do you have a rub for for Dan Housing, right?
- 34:26[SPEAKER_00]: If you have a to do roster, right?
- 34:29[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think seeing a puck has anything to do right now.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_00]: Like you could pick up, you could pick up his rivalries with whoever comes Summerslam.
- 34:37[SPEAKER_00]: You could get him back into the ring with Seth Rollins or with Roman Reigns back at Summerslam.
- 34:43[SPEAKER_00]: Like he doesn't need to be at backslash.
- 34:46[SPEAKER_00]: And he is friends with Dan Housing.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that would make a bunch of sense.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_00]: Can you imagine Dan Housing come into the ring and say, oh, my mystery partner, and the Miz and Kitt Wilson laughing their ass off like, what clown are you going to bring out here?
- 35:01[SPEAKER_00]: And then you hear the music hit and see him punk?
- 35:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it'd be great.
- 35:06[SPEAKER_00]: I think that makes sense.
- 35:08[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going with CM Punk.
- 35:09[SPEAKER_00]: I think CM Punk.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_01]: That's not a bad, not a bad guess, self, not a bad guess.
- 35:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 35:14[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that he's somebody that can cross over from comedy to legit.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_00]: And he doesn't have to be committed either.
- 35:20[SPEAKER_00]: He could just come in and just squash somebody.
- 35:22[SPEAKER_00]: And that's it.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_00]: Have downhousing do a couple of moves, you know, to get a little credit, but a little bit of the crowd.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_00]: And then CM Punk finishes the matchoff squashes the miss and
- 35:36[SPEAKER_00]: All right, uh, there's also a UFC fight.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_00]: I know how much I'm a tube and following the hands at she may have Sean Strickland fight for this Saturday, but this thing is a blood feud and they're talking about not being able to do the face off.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_00]: Have you been following this thing?
- 35:52[SPEAKER_01]: No, I haven't blew me in.
- 35:55[SPEAKER_00]: Well, sounds tricklin' is very non-PC, okay?
- 36:00[SPEAKER_00]: And Hamza Chie-Mive is, he's Muslim, he's Chechen, right?
- 36:05[SPEAKER_00]: And sounds tricklin' has said many of colored things and he's also threatened that if he shows up with his boys to corner him at any point, he's just gonna pull his gun and shoot them all.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, that's happening on Saturday as well.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_00]: So, Saturday is jam-packed.
- 36:27[SPEAKER_00]: I can't wait.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_00]: I love this stuff, okay?
- 36:29[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, they're talking about not being able to do the face-off.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_00]: You know how the UFC owes does a ceremonial face-off on Friday.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_00]: Because people wonder, oh, that's the way and no, they do the way and on Thursday.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_00]: And then Friday is a ceremonial way in like, you know, you could be weighing 30 pounds over your weight on Friday.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_00]: It's just a ceremonial way in and it's just for, you know, it's free.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_00]: It's a free event for the fans to come and see the fighters get autographs and stuff like that.
- 36:55[SPEAKER_00]: You've seen pretty good about that stuff.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_00]: So it's just ceremonial.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_00]: They're talking about canceling it at least for the main event because these guys actually do hate each other like this is, this is not a work.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_00]: That's must see TV that, you know, and speaking of must see the CTV next week, you know, we're doing right, Marick.
- 37:15[SPEAKER_00]: What are we doing?
- 37:17[SPEAKER_00]: We're previewing a fight, you know, which one that is all that that's got to be rousing in Corona, right?
- 37:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, that's next week.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, we'll talk about that next week.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_00]: All right, hopefully the Dolphins give us some news in the interim maybe an AJ epinesca signing.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_01]: What do you think?
- 37:36[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that'd be nice.
- 37:39[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's another guy.
- 37:41[SPEAKER_00]: It's another guy.
- 37:41[SPEAKER_00]: You could add to the mix.
- 37:44[SPEAKER_00]: You saw that they're not giving us any more anymore super balls.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_00]: You saw that, right?
- 37:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no South Florida super balls.
- 37:50[SPEAKER_01]: It sounds like bullshit to me, but
- 37:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, hard rock stadium has hosted in the last 18 months the national championship game.
- 37:58[SPEAKER_00]: It might be open F1, the hosted 19 college and NFL games, and the FIFA World Cup, but they're not good enough to hold host the Super Bowl.
- 38:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, who wants to go to Miami in February, right?
- 38:13[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it makes no sense to me, right?
- 38:14[SPEAKER_01]: Come on.
- 38:16[SPEAKER_00]: All right, we're going to call it right here.
- 38:18[SPEAKER_00]: And next week, let's go to Tuesday.
- 38:21[SPEAKER_00]: You're required, uh, your homework is to watch all the training videos that MVP has put out a Ronda Rousey and Gina Corrano, uh, yeah, oh, it's, that's going to be arduous, but I'll give it my best shot, especially those Corrano videos.
- 38:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, uh, look, uh, fair warning.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_00]: I have, I don't think that this fight's going to be any good.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_00]: It's too aging like in their prime.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_00]: They were great, but, you know, there's always like that in the back of your mind, you're like, you know what,
- 38:50[SPEAKER_00]: I was I was wondering what is the draw here like why is this the cell and it's an obvious one it's a mean girl versus a very very nice person.
- 39:02[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I don't take yeah that that's essentially what this is this is about so we'll talk about it next week but
- 39:13[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks for listening to the off-season American Out.
- 39:16[SPEAKER_01]: Until next time, raise your fans, raise your glasses, and we'll talk to you next time.
