- 0:06Good morning. It is great to see everyone
- 0:11here, especially our visitors and we hope and pray that you
- 0:16will stay a little longer. So we will all get a chance to
- 0:19meet you and greet you and just thank you for being here.
- 0:24Lori has so great to have you guys as a member here and
- 0:27especially all your kids looking forward, to all that, all of you
- 0:32will be able to do for the kingdom here.
- 0:38Have you guys ever made a bad decision or a poor decision?
- 0:46You know, the ones where you look back and you think well
- 0:48that was stupid. I shouldn't have done that.
- 0:53Now, stand up, before you hit. Brent keeps telling all the
- 0:57things that he's done wrong. Let me go ahead and I will
- 0:59explain to you one, just one of the many that I have done. and,
- 1:07Just so, you know, I was really, really young.
- 1:09Okay, so I have an excuse, but back when I was in Canada, and
- 1:15that is not an excuse. Okay, but back when I was up in
- 1:18Canada, I was in second grade. And, you know, when your second
- 1:22grader, you Well, you don't your brains not really developed yet
- 1:29and discretion. Well, I had none.
- 1:34And we don't really have that now anymore, but we had recess
- 1:40and the recess is basically a time where the teachers are like
- 1:43we need a break from you. You get outside.
- 1:46Well, unfortunately this day is raining.
- 1:48So the kids are inside and the teachers went outside.
- 1:52And so we are in the room by ourself.
- 1:55Second graders. Not smart.
- 1:57Okay, we're in the room by ourselves and I am being such a
- 2:02great student. I am sitting at my desk playing
- 2:05with, you know, those colored blocks where you can make some
- 2:08amazing art pieces and Designs. Well, I am doing that.
- 2:12All on my own, really focused on what I'm doing.
- 2:15And I'm making this masterpiece of blocks.
- 2:19And I realize as I get to the end.
- 2:22I'm missing a block. I need this one, not any block,
- 2:26but a specific color in a specific shape of block to
- 2:29finish this art piece and me with my not so developed brain.
- 2:33Yet looked around. And I noticed the exact one I
- 2:37need is at the bottom of the stack of this girl who's been
- 2:41building this tower for the whole time.
- 2:43And I hone in on that one. I don't look anywhere else to
- 2:49see but I see that one and I think that's it.
- 2:54And I get up go towards their again.
- 2:59My brain is not developed yet. And I don't think of what's
- 3:02going to happen and I just grab that block from the bottom and
- 3:05yank it out. And as the whole Tower Falls, a
- 3:10light bulb goes on and I think question had done that.
- 3:17And the girl looks at me and I look at the girl and I'm like,
- 3:23he's bigger than me. And I take off running now.
- 3:28We are in class desk, chairs, 30, students, and I'm running.
- 3:34I'm, I'm, I'm quick little, I am quick.
- 3:37So I'm running around that classroom weaving in and out of
- 3:41all these different deaths and I'm not sure what happened.
- 3:44If a desk stepped out in front of me or if a chair did or if I
- 3:49just tripped on my feet, but I go Superman into a corner of the
- 3:54desk. And split my eye open.
- 3:59From that point on, I remember some Bloods coming out.
- 4:05Somehow a teacher comes takes me to the bathroom.
- 4:10She's wiping the blood but it keeps coming later.
- 4:14Go to the hospital. They put stitches.
- 4:17Apparently, there was staff on the desk and I get a staph
- 4:22infection in my eye for the next two weeks.
- 4:26I'm in the hospital is called sick kids, but it's a children's
- 4:30hospital up in Toronto during that time.
- 4:35Younger brother determines. Hey, it's going to be fun.
- 4:37Since mom's not here. I'm going to go jump on top of
- 4:40the metal sprinkler system and split my foot open.
- 4:44Well, he has seven stitches and somewhat having to lift it up.
- 4:49Now, if you know my family, we don't sit still very long.
- 4:54And so he's hopping around all over the place with stitches.
- 4:56My dad ends up having pneumonia and my grandma is trying to deal
- 5:01with that and my mom's trying to take care of me.
- 5:04And it's all because because my brain was not fully developed
- 5:06and I took a little piece of block that actually was probably
- 5:09right there on the side of the table that I could have got.
- 5:11And I never finished that art piece.
- 5:16Dumb decisions. Luckily.
- 5:20I learned from that. Well, I'm still learning but
- 5:25it's one of those things, as a kid, you know, you're learning
- 5:28right and wrong. We're learning to make better
- 5:31decisions. But as I get older, as I was
- 5:33growing, as I'm developing and I'm learning what is right and
- 5:36wrong. I learn.
- 5:37Also those things that are wrong like me, taking that from her.
- 5:39Yeah, that was wrong. Wasn't a sin?
- 5:42Because I'm still learning those things.
- 5:44But as I learn what is right and wrong, then those things taken
- 5:47from other stealing from others, that is sin, and I'm learning
- 5:50what I should and should not do. In the teen class.
- 5:55We are going over the Book of Joshua.
- 5:58And there are so many amazing stories in Joshua.
- 6:01That helps us see the physical side of what God wants us to
- 6:05understand spiritually. And one of the things that we
- 6:11read a belt is sin. You know, too often our society
- 6:18kind of makes light of sin. It downgrades it.
- 6:21As it's really something that's not really that important in the
- 6:242016. I know that's a little old for
- 6:28this Statistics, but that's the newest one that I could find.
- 6:32And I know that the statistics, the statistics are probably even
- 6:35worse now than 2016, LifeWay research group did a study on
- 6:41America's view of sin. And this is what they came in.
- 6:47They were able to find out 2/3 of Americans 67 percent, say
- 6:52that they are sinners. Meanwhile, only one in 10.
- 6:59Americans actually says that sin.
- 7:01It doesn't even exist. There's no such thing as Sin.
- 7:05There's no such thing as, right and wrong.
- 7:09There is no absolute truth. Within that.
- 7:13One of 10 people majority of it were 18 to 44 year olds.
- 7:22Eighteen forty four year olds guys.
- 7:24Now, they're older now and they still have that mindset.
- 7:27That there is no sin. Recorders.
- 7:31That means 74% of Americans disagree with the idea.
- 7:36That if you just make a, if you make a small sin, well, you
- 7:40don't deserve Colonel punishment.
- 7:42It's only the big sins. Like if I murder someone, if I,
- 7:48if I steal something that's a big sin, but you know, a little
- 7:52sins. It doesn't matter.
- 7:55That's seventy four percent that were that took this study are
- 8:00saying. You know, you can sin and it's
- 8:04not that bad as long as it's not the big.
- 8:08It scares me guys. Because in Romans chapter 3, 23,
- 8:14as Cody read for us, all of us, have sinned, we fall short of
- 8:17the glory of God. And then what is the wages of
- 8:21sin verse 6:23, it is death. As it doesn't matter.
- 8:27If we considered a big sinner, a little sin, its death.
- 8:31I bet you most people will consider lying a little sin and
- 8:36yet in Revelation, chapter 20 and 18 among all the big sins
- 8:39that the world would consider lying is also listed.
- 8:43And it says, if we continue in those things will have eternal
- 8:46punishment. Sin.
- 8:50Is a serious thing. And unfortunately, from these
- 8:53statistics the world is making light of it.
- 9:00Why do I think that it's the 1844 year olds that are having
- 9:04this mindset? Unfortunately, it's because the
- 9:08Christendom within this world we stop preaching about Sin.
- 9:13We stop preaching belt, the consequences of it, the effects
- 9:19of it, if they're not taking care of and we talk about the
- 9:23love and the grace which we have to know, we have to abide by but
- 9:27it's that love and grace that we Have that is able to take away
- 9:30that sin. So that we can actually do with
- 9:33that. Peace.
- 9:34That only comes from our savior. So this morning, what I want us
- 9:38to look at is kind of this mindset sin.
- 9:42Does it really matter? Does it matter?
- 9:48Is it something that we need to look at not make light of?
- 9:52We need to look at as far as you know what I'm gossiping about
- 9:57someone. You know, that's a little sin.
- 9:58That's not that bad or do I need to think of God can IMS it I
- 10:04need to make sure I'm not doing it or whether how I'm acting in
- 10:08front of school where I'm at or the workplace where I'm at.
- 10:14Am I reflecting Christ? Am I sinning when no one else or
- 10:18I don't think anyone is around. His is my mind thinking it's
- 10:24just a little thing. It's a little sin.
- 10:26It's It's not that big of a deal.
- 10:30God's eyes sin. His sin that separates us from
- 10:35him. So what I want to do is I want
- 10:38us to go to back to Joshua back to chapter 7, where we actually
- 10:45read about the story of Aiken, all of us, know, most of us.
- 10:48I'm pretty sure know the story of Aiken.
- 10:50So I'm not going to dwell dwell too much on it.
- 10:53I'm going to overview, it kind of quickly, but I want us to see
- 10:56that. As God said the Old Testament is
- 10:59therefore our learning Institute or for us.
- 11:02That's to look at and see what we see physically happening to
- 11:07Aiken. What we see the effects of his
- 11:10decision. How does that affect us?
- 11:13Spiritually your day? How can we gain from his?
- 11:21Misunderstanding of obedience to God's work.
- 11:26So this morning, if you don't mind turn with me to Joshua
- 11:30chapter 7 and what I want us to do is I'm just going to give you
- 11:35a quick overview. A bacon and actually it can
- 11:40actually story actually starts in chapter 6 and chapter 6.
- 11:44You see that Joshua is there with the army of Israelites and
- 11:48they are now going against Jericho and God specifically
- 11:54gives an instruction to Joshua to tell all the Israelites what
- 11:57they should and should not do when they are when they have
- 12:00conquered Jericho. And if you turn with me to
- 12:04chapter 6, verse 18, it says and you and this is referring to all
- 12:09the Israelites. Joshua is now explaining that
- 12:13and you by all means abstain from the accursed things.
- 12:20Right now, we have no clue what the accursed things are.
- 12:23But he says, abstain from the curse things lest.
- 12:25You become the cursed. When you take of the curse
- 12:28things and make the camp of Israel, a curse and trouble it.
- 12:36But all the silver and gold in the vessels of bronze and iron,
- 12:40are consecrated to the Lord, and they shall come into the
- 12:44treasury of the Lord. So this is what God had
- 12:48commanded, don't take any of the accursed things.
- 12:51When you see the gold, when you see the silver, when you see the
- 12:53bronze, all that supposed to be consecrated for the Lord and
- 12:56give them to the Lord. All of Israel heard that.
- 13:01But Aitken pepper, some verse 1, it says, but the children of
- 13:05Israel committed a trespass regarding the accursed things
- 13:09for Aiken. The son of car me, the son of
- 13:11Zebedee. I the son of Zera of the tribe
- 13:14of Judah, took the accursed things to the anger of the Lord
- 13:18burned against the children of Israel.
- 13:22And so, he had taken those things when he took it.
- 13:26The Israelites had no clue. But they went up against AI
- 13:31small little town. They only took 3,000.
- 13:33People are going to go feed them and yet they were defeated.
- 13:37In fact, 36 people were killed because of that.
- 13:43They come back, and they just don't understand what's going
- 13:45on. God said, he's going to be with
- 13:48us. God says he's going to take care
- 13:49of us. We just defeated this huge City.
- 13:53This massive place that was had so much protection and God just
- 13:58took care of it. And now we can't even defeat
- 14:00this one little small City. They had no clue, why.
- 14:06And then God explains to them what's going or God explains to
- 14:10Joshua? What was going on?
- 14:13Verses 11 through 13 in chapter 7 and then God commands all of
- 14:18the Israelites to come before him.
- 14:20And he will pick down from tribe, from families, to
- 14:24household to. So, to show, who was the one,
- 14:28who they committed the sin. In Aiken was chosen.
- 14:34And a can because of his sin. He and his family.
- 14:39We're stoned and then he and the accursed things were burned
- 14:43together. And then we read last part of
- 14:48chapter 7 and verse 26. The Lord turn from the
- 14:53fierceness of his anger. Why?
- 14:56Because the accursed things, the sin that was in the camp had
- 15:01been removed. Now.
- 15:06You can ask the teens. That's the quickest.
- 15:08I've ever probably gone over a chapter.
- 15:12But that's kind of a background. Of what's going on here, Aiken?
- 15:20Made a bad decision. This decision was sin.
- 15:26In. So what I want us to look at
- 15:29today is what can we learn? From Aiken.
- 15:36From the story of Aiken cuz none of us want to.
- 15:41When we come into eternity be in that fire, the Aiken was in.
- 15:47And God says that if we are contrary to his will, that we
- 15:50will burn Eternal fire. You see the Old Testament is
- 15:55more of the physical and the New Testament is more spiritual.
- 16:00A can burn physically, we will bear in spiritually.
- 16:04And as we go through this, I want to take those examples of
- 16:07old news, physical, and spiritual.
- 16:09And I want us to gain a better knowledge of, what?
- 16:12What truly sent is in, God's eyes.
- 16:16So, number one. Lessons we can learn from Aiken.
- 16:20Number one. We learn what sin is.
- 16:26I'm not going to look at what the world is saying sin is
- 16:28because they say, you know, there isn't anything.
- 16:31Since just you it's in the eyes of the beholder.
- 16:34It doesn't matter if you're going against me than that.
- 16:37Sending. Because you're going against
- 16:38what I want, but that's not what the word of God says, in regards
- 16:41to what sin is. So let's look at it in Joshua
- 16:45chapter 6 1819. We just read God specifically
- 16:49said, do not take of the curse things.
- 16:52That's it. Don't take of it.
- 16:55Aiken said, I'm going to do it. 7:1, what were those things?
- 17:05We find out in chapter 7 verse 21.
- 17:10He says. In, this is Akin giving a
- 17:14confession before Joshua in the Israelites.
- 17:18Well, let's start in verse 20 in a can answer Joshua and said
- 17:21indeed, I have sinned against the Lord, God of Israel.
- 17:23And this is what I have done. When I saw among the spoils the
- 17:28beautiful Babylonian garment two hundred shekels of silver and a
- 17:32wedge of gold. Weighing 50 shekels.
- 17:34I coveted them took them there. We are it in the earth in the
- 17:40midst of my tent with the silver under it.
- 17:48You know. Aiken tells us that sin is going
- 17:54against God's command. Ten is going against.
- 17:59What God has told us to do, or told us not to do.
- 18:04It's interesting on the online dictionary.
- 18:06It states sin is the transgression of the law of God.
- 18:10Disobedience of the Divine, command a violation of God's
- 18:15will. Finally, the world got it,
- 18:20right. That's exactly what it is.
- 18:24Those Disobedience to God's command.
- 18:29That's exactly what a can did. You know, I think it's very
- 18:34interesting when we see what happened to Akin.
- 18:37He said, I saw, I coveted, I took it, and then I tried to
- 18:42hide it. you know, in James chapter 1, that's exactly what
- 18:48we see written here as well. James 1:13 says let no one say
- 18:55when he is, tempted. I am tempted by God for God,
- 18:57cannot be tempted by evil. Nor does he himself, tempt
- 19:00anyone? But each one is tempted when he
- 19:03is drawn away by his own desires and enticed, you know, his own
- 19:07desires right? Here is the same word that talks
- 19:10about over here as far as coveted.
- 19:16A can coveted. And here we are drawn away by
- 19:20our own desires, or the things that we covet verse 15, then
- 19:26when desire has conceived. It gives birth to sin and sin
- 19:31when it is full-grown or when is not dealt with, when it's not
- 19:34taking care of, when his not repented of brings forth death.
- 19:41That right. There is a story of Aikens Life.
- 19:46Esau. David took it, then he hit it.
- 19:54What's in? Tends to Disobedience to God's
- 19:59work. If God has told us what we
- 20:02should be doing in life. If he's told us that we're
- 20:04supposed to be honoring our father and mother.
- 20:06If he told us that we're supposed to live being set apart
- 20:09from the world not to live in a way that we are just like the
- 20:12world. And we want to be like the word
- 20:15world. Then that is what we are
- 20:17coveting. We're coveting.
- 20:18What is not holy. God says, sit be set apart.
- 20:24That's what the Israelites were supposed to be physically.
- 20:27They were set apart. We should be spiritually set
- 20:30apart. Number two.
- 20:40Sin has consequences. And most of it.
- 20:45Affects others. A can probably had no clue that
- 20:50just taking. The Garment silver, the gold.
- 20:56Would cause 36 men to die in a battle.
- 21:01I can probably had no clue that and probably even after this
- 21:06happened in they died. He probably didn't think.
- 21:09Oh, it's, that's on me. He probably thought.
- 21:11Wow. I thought we were better
- 21:13Fighters than this. And see that happens.
- 21:18A lot of times when we have sin in our life.
- 21:22It's all about us. We don't care about how it
- 21:25affects others and we see this in Aiken.
- 21:29Well, and I'll explain this a little more as we go on, but
- 21:32here, In verse 5, it talks about how the 36 perished.
- 21:40Another thing that happened is when we finish the book of, I
- 21:44mean the chapter 7, it says that he and his whole family his
- 21:49livestock all that he had. Was burned.
- 21:54What? Well, was known his family and
- 21:57him was stoned and then was burned. a lot of times sin,
- 22:02affects our families to the point where We can be such an
- 22:08ass Kurt discouragement to them or we can leave them down the
- 22:11same path that we're going as well.
- 22:15And again, sin is a selfish thing.
- 22:17It's all about me. And we see that from Aiken.
- 22:27I think. Well, I'm going to let just the
- 22:33Bible speak here, book with me. At 7:30, going the last part of
- 22:41verse 5, you see when these 36 men were struck down.
- 22:46It says therefore the hearts of the people.
- 22:49The Israelites melted a being came like water here, had that
- 22:54spiritual high as far as you have been on a mission trip or
- 22:58you've been at camp or something and you've just learned all
- 23:01these things spiritually and you are just so excited about
- 23:05teaching other people. You're so excited about doing
- 23:07these things and you On that spiritual High, that's how the
- 23:10Israelites were. They just defeated Jericho.
- 23:12God gave them a great. Victory.
- 23:18And on that Victory, they come to small town.
- 23:22And their decimated. And now their faith or hope in.
- 23:28God is just waned. And it says, their hearts
- 23:33melted. Now, their faith is like that
- 23:36tossing and turning of the waived.
- 23:39I don't know what to believe. They don't know who to believe
- 23:42and it didn't just stop with them.
- 23:45Keep reading verse 7 and Joshua the leader.
- 23:49The one God picked to lead them into the promised land and
- 23:52Joshua tore his clothes and fell to the Earth on his face before
- 23:56the Ark of the Lord until evening, and he and the Elders
- 23:58of Israel. And they put dust on their heads
- 24:02and Joshua said a last Lord. God, why have you brought this
- 24:06people over to over the Jordan at all to deliver us into the
- 24:10hands of the amorites to destroy us.
- 24:14Oh, that we had been content and dwelt on the other side of the
- 24:17Jordan. Joshua.
- 24:23Hard to blame God. I want us to understand that sin
- 24:31can affect. T', us.
- 24:35Someone else's sin. A consent that none of the
- 24:40Israelites realized at this time, made people dealt God.
- 24:46Made their faith crumble. As we cannot stop and not
- 24:53understand that fate our sin within this world.
- 24:57The things that we think is hidden the things that no one,
- 25:00we think, no one else will ever understand or no one else will
- 25:02ever know it affects others. And hear the leader of the
- 25:09Israelites. Has no clue, but he's starting
- 25:12to blame God. He started to mope around
- 25:17thinking. What are we going to do now?
- 25:18All the people in Canaan? They're all going to come up
- 25:21against us. Okay, you can't even beat the AI
- 25:24people yet. We're going to come together and
- 25:26we'll just wipe you out. Joshua's like Lord.
- 25:29What are you going to do now? All your people will be gone.
- 25:33As one man. Thought he could hide his sin
- 25:36from God. Don't think that our sin can be
- 25:41hidden. Especially from God.
- 25:47Now. Here's spiritual application on
- 25:50that one. If we take the physical, the
- 25:53Israelites. The Old Testament, we bring that
- 25:57to the New Testament. The Israelites represents the
- 26:01church. When we have people that are in
- 26:06the congregation that are in sin, it affects the congregation
- 26:08at the hole. I wanted to sit in.
- 26:16And let me give you example. Let's say, you are trying to
- 26:21encourage your neighbor. They come to Bible study or two
- 26:26to study with you. And they find out someone who is
- 26:29in, send that they are aware of attends there.
- 26:33What's their view of the congregation that person, they
- 26:36know? So, maybe you've heard this
- 26:40phrase. Oh, someone's.
- 26:43So goes there. They he did me wrong.
- 26:46There's if that's what Christianity is.
- 26:49I don't want any part of it. Or maybe it's like the church is
- 26:54full of Hypocrites. How many times have you heard
- 26:55that? But a lot of times it's because
- 26:58of one person the way they're acting in a simple way is what
- 27:01they represent as the church as a whole.
- 27:05So and so is a Christian I'll never believe that and I'm I'm
- 27:10holder than they are. You should see them at school.
- 27:13You should see him at work. You should see him when no one
- 27:16else thinks they're watching. Proverbs chapter 14.
- 27:24Think it states that the best. Proverbs 14:34 says
- 27:28righteousness, exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any
- 27:35people. See you living a life of sin and
- 27:44impact. Whole congregation in the
- 27:49influence that we can have in our community.
- 27:54Number one, we learn what sin is in God's eyes.
- 27:58Number 2, we learned the sin has consequences and most of the
- 28:01time. It affects others.
- 28:04And then that's for where's three?
- 28:10It's out of order. All right, and that is three,
- 28:12and three. You can't hide your sin from
- 28:16God. How many times we think that
- 28:19guys? How many times do we think?
- 28:21No One's Gonna Know. I was going to find out.
- 28:26I can handle it. It's all right.
- 28:29It's just in the world's eyes, a little sin.
- 28:34I'm good. I have a feeling that's exactly
- 28:38what Aiken was thinking as well. And why do I think that well
- 28:44chapter 7 1315? I want us to understand what's
- 28:48going on. God has just basically told
- 28:51Joshua, stop your whining, their sin in the camp deal with it.
- 28:57That's basically what he said. Verse 10 in chapter. 7 till lord
- 29:02said to Joshua get up. Why do you lie Less on your
- 29:05face? Israel has sinned and they have
- 29:07also transgressed much Covenant, which I commanded thee where
- 29:11they have even taken some of the curse things and they have both
- 29:14stolen and deceived. And they have also It among
- 29:18their own stuff. They are for the children of
- 29:21Israel could not stand before their enemies.
- 29:24And then God tells him, this is what you need to do.
- 29:28Verse 13, Joshua get up sanctify.
- 29:32That word sanctify is to set apart to make holy the people.
- 29:37In other words, terrify the people, their sin.
- 29:41You need to get it out. Pure for the people, sanctify
- 29:44yourselves for tomorrow, because less says, the Lord of God of
- 29:49Israel. There is an accursed thing in
- 29:52your mid. So, Israel, you cannot stand
- 29:53before your enemies until you take it away.
- 29:55The accursed things from among you in the morning, so it wasn't
- 29:58done right then, but it would have been done the next day.
- 30:02In the morning. Therefore you shall be brought
- 30:04according to your tribes and it shall be that the tribe which
- 30:07Lord takes shall come according to their families in the family,
- 30:10which the Lord takes shall come by household in the household.
- 30:13Which Lord takes your come Man by man.
- 30:16Then it shall be that Hugh is taken with the accursed thing
- 30:19shall be burned with fire. He and all that he has because
- 30:23he has transgressed the Covenant of the Lord and because he has
- 30:27done a disgraceful thing in Israel.
- 30:29All right. Step back for a second.
- 30:34So now God has told Joshua tell all of Israel every man who
- 30:42taken. There's sin in the camp.
- 30:45Someone's take the accursed things.
- 30:49We're going to have judgment tomorrow.
- 30:53A canoe. What was going to happen?
- 30:57Akin could have made it right that night and confessed.
- 31:02But from what we get there, he's still assumed that I was not
- 31:06going to find it. It's buried in my tent.
- 31:10No one else knows. Too often.
- 31:13That's what we do. When we think of sin.
- 31:15We think we can hide it from everyone else and we think we
- 31:18can hide it from God. A can have that mindset.
- 31:28Look at verse 21 chapter 7. We see Aiken, therefore
- 31:35confesses. But it's too late.
- 31:39It's because he was already caught.
- 31:43Can you imagine being in front of all the Israelites and they
- 31:46start going through? All right, here's all the
- 31:49tribes. All right?
- 31:49From this tribe. We're going to take Judo all
- 31:51those that are in the tribe of Judah.
- 31:53You guys come here. All right, from that.
- 31:55Let's go. Then to the families Z rights.
- 31:58Yeah, you guys are the ones Chosen, and you can see a can
- 32:01over. In the site is like So far, I'm
- 32:07still in here. Maybe it's someone else that did
- 32:10it in a lot of times. We think that to we think, well,
- 32:12I'm sure someone else has a bigger sin than I do.
- 32:17And then they brought the family of the zero Heights.
- 32:19Man by man in zap dog was taken and then he brought of the
- 32:23health soiled car, me, son of Zebedee.
- 32:29And then the son of Zira. The tribe of Judah was taken.
- 32:35And then Aiken himself. We can't hide the sins before
- 32:43God. And unfortunately, it was too
- 32:46late or Akin Proverbs chapter. 15, 3 says the eyes of the Lord
- 32:52are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good
- 32:56Hebrews 4:13, and there is no creature hidden from his sight,
- 33:01but all things are naked and Open the Eyes of him to whom we
- 33:04must give a count. It can had to give an account.
- 33:07We will also have to do the same X5 1 through 5.
- 33:11We talk about or we see about innocence of fire.
- 33:13They thought they could Lie to the Holy Spirit, they thought
- 33:16they could basically deceived God.
- 33:21We know how that ended up. We can't hide things for God and
- 33:27we can learn that lesson through Aiken.
- 33:30And his sin. And what happened to him,
- 33:34because of that? Second Corinthians, 5:10 reads
- 33:45for we must all appear before the Judgment seat of Christ.
- 33:50But each one may receive the things done in the body,
- 33:53according to what he has done, whether good or bad.
- 33:59As all of us are going to have to appear before God one day.
- 34:03I'm going to have to appear before God.
- 34:06As he lays out the book of life and the Deeds that we have done.
- 34:11Is he going to find sin that I've not atone?
- 34:14For I've not asked forgiveness up.
- 34:18Because one day that will come. We learn what sin is we learned
- 34:25that sin, affects others and make them and mostly in the
- 34:29negative way. You can't hide your sin from
- 34:31God, then for sin must be removed from your life.
- 34:36As we can't just say, sorry, God, please forgive me of this
- 34:41in and then continue in it. God says, it has to be removed
- 34:47again. Going back to Joshua chapter 7.
- 34:52Look at verses 11 and 12. I think this is very important
- 34:56because I think we have a misunderstanding of this Israel
- 35:00has sinned. They have congrat transgressed
- 35:04my Covenant which I commend them for.
- 35:05They have even taken some of the accursed things.
- 35:07They have both stolen. They just and deceived.
- 35:10They stolen what their curse things they've received because
- 35:12they have also taken the things that were supposed to be given
- 35:16to God the gold, the silver. And they're deceiving, everyone
- 35:20thinking that it's their own, and they have also put it among
- 35:24their own stuff. They brought it into the camp
- 35:28there for the children of Israel could not stand before their
- 35:30enemies, but turn their backs before their enemies because
- 35:33they have become doomed to destruction.
- 35:35Here's the part. I want us to understand, God is
- 35:38saying, neither will I be with you anymore?
- 35:43Unless you destroy the curse from among you.
- 35:48God says, I can't be among sin. I can't have any part of that.
- 35:55And if you're not willing to get rid of that sin, I cannot be
- 36:00part of you. Do we see that in New Testament?
- 36:03Yes, we do. We see it over and over again.
- 36:08In Romans chapter 6 if you guys want to turn their we're coming
- 36:13back to Joshua, but if you want to turn their Romans chapter 6,
- 36:16basically a lot of the whole chapters dealing with this but
- 36:19it deals with the idea of look just like Christ when we are
- 36:24baptized, we are buried. In his death.
- 36:30We are he take Christ, took on our sins on the cross and then
- 36:35he died to those sins when we come in contact with water in
- 36:39burial. Baptism.
- 36:41We are just like Christ in the grave.
- 36:46Our sins are there. And he says, but as you rise
- 36:50Anew, you are a new man. The old man, you have crucified,
- 36:55what? I've left that old man, the ways
- 36:57of sin, the way I used to live. I left that in that watery grave
- 37:01and I've rise to new, I'm a new man.
- 37:03I'm here in Washington. God's eyes.
- 37:09That's what the gospel is. That's what we're supposed to be
- 37:12obeying when it says that we are to obey the gospel of Christ.
- 37:16It's a death burial and Resurrection having our sins
- 37:18taken away. Being raised up a new.
- 37:21And then verse 7 for, he, this is chapter 6 of Romans verse 7
- 37:25for he who died has been freed from sin.
- 37:29Now, if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live
- 37:33with him. Knowing that Christ having been
- 37:34raised from the dead dies, No, More Death, no longer has
- 37:37dominion over him. For the death that he died.
- 37:40He died to sin once for all, but the life that he lives.
- 37:45He lives to God. This whole thing came about
- 37:48because people are saying, well, if God is great, then why don't
- 37:51we just send more and more? So we have more grace in Paul's,
- 37:54like, heaven forbid. Why would you do that?
- 37:58You've destroyed the sin. You've destroyed that an old
- 38:01man. Don't go back into it.
- 38:09Our sin. Well, it has to be removed from
- 38:15our life. In Revelation chapter 2. 14 to
- 38:2216 here crisis riding to the different churches in Asia.
- 38:26And this is the Church of Asia that he is writing to and He
- 38:30commands them to repent, the whole church.
- 38:36Why? Because they were allowing sin
- 38:38into the congregation verse 14. Says they were, they were
- 38:43abiding by the doctrines of Balaam.
- 38:47And then they were also biting by the doctrines of the
- 38:50Nicolaitans. And God says repent.
- 38:53Get that out of there. At the first part of Revelation
- 38:582. It says, if you do not do these
- 39:01things then I will take my lamp stand in.
- 39:03Other words. He will take his name away from
- 39:05that church and recognize it as his church anymore guys, we see
- 39:10how Akin sin had to be taken away from the camp.
- 39:15We also see in the New Testament that sin within the congregation
- 39:18has to be taken away as well. Sin can corrupt and God cannot
- 39:23be a part of that. You know, we are so blessed.
- 39:26I cannot tell you how thankful. I am that.
- 39:29We're at a congregation here, where all our elders loved us so
- 39:32much that they don't want sin within the congregation.
- 39:35They know how it can affect our community and our ability to
- 39:40outreach and tell those and so because they love the souls of
- 39:43everyone of us sometimes They have to.
- 39:49Talk to those and withdrawal from those that will continue in
- 39:52sin. So that the church might remain
- 39:55pure. That's exactly what God was
- 39:57telling us in the Old Testament with Israelites.
- 40:00It has to be taken away for me to be there.
- 40:03But a blessing. Wait, we have to be here.
- 40:08Number 5. This is our last one.
- 40:12Unrepented sin will not go unpunished.
- 40:17All these are very basic all these.
- 40:20We all know sometimes I think we just need a reminder, a how
- 40:24important sin is in God's eyes. Why do you think a can never
- 40:35repented? I don't know.
- 40:45I really don't. But we see the consequences of
- 40:49what happened, because he didn't.
- 40:51He had an opportunity. But he didn't take advantage of
- 40:55it. We also have opportunities.
- 40:58What a blessing it is that we live under the New Testament.
- 41:03Where we have those opportunities to make it right?
- 41:06We don't have to do those continual sacrifice.
- 41:09Has you know, there's no way that we could be pure under the
- 41:11Old Testament, but we're under the new law and through the
- 41:14grace of God. We can have our sins washed
- 41:16away. We can remain pure in his eyes.
- 41:19What a blessing. What does the Bible say?
- 41:25In regards to this? You see Joshua.
- 41:27The unrepented sin because Tina's family to be stoned to
- 41:32death in the sins. That was a part of him is whole
- 41:36livelihood. It says a sheep has go.
- 41:38It's all that he had was burned with fire.
- 41:42I don't want that for my family. I don't want any of you don't
- 41:46want anyone around to go to hell.
- 41:51He can again, is that physical embellishment or embodiment of
- 41:58what will happen to us? If sin is not accounted for when
- 42:01Christ comes again? Joshua was the judge during that
- 42:05time, Christ will be the judge for us today.
- 42:09Again, second Corinthians 5:10 says that we're all going to
- 42:13have to appear before Christ, and the Judgment seat.
- 42:16Romans chapter twenty eleven through fifteen, tells us that
- 42:19we will all be judged. According to our works, Jude
- 42:23verse 14 through 18 states, that Jesus will come and execute
- 42:28judgment on. All those who are ungodly for,
- 42:31all their ungodly Deeds, which they can committed those who
- 42:34walk according to their own ungodly lusts.
- 42:38Going to have to come before God one day.
- 42:43You know, Aikens, a simple story.
- 42:46But a man who coveted something that God said not to, because he
- 42:51desired it so much. He led many others to death.
- 42:57Who questioned God? And if it wasn't taken care of
- 43:02God would have left all of them. Since serious.
- 43:08And I want us to understand look sin is serious, but the love of
- 43:12God is so great. The love of God is amazing.
- 43:17Is he even though? Realization of sin that is
- 43:23devastating. It's dangerous, its destructive,
- 43:25its deadly, it can affect others, it can cause others to
- 43:30lose their own life. If it's not removed.
- 43:40Where are we? We don't have anything to look
- 43:44forward to. What a blessing, it is that God
- 43:47has made that possibility of Salvation through his son.
- 43:54See you soon, is something that will will always have to deal
- 43:58with because we're living in a sinful or imperfect world.
- 44:04But I'm so thankful that this world is not our home.
- 44:08Because of Jesus sacrifice, we can be pure in God's eyes.
- 44:15When we submit to his will, and not our own, cool able to see
- 44:19his face. An eternity in heaven, John
- 44:26chapter 1. 137 and here, this letter is written to those that
- 44:35are already Christians. And it says, if we walk in the
- 44:39light, if we're doing what God is wanting us, if we are
- 44:42striving each day to be right in his eyes.
- 44:45He is in, if we walk in the light, as he is in the light.
- 44:47We have Fellowship one with another and the blood of Christ
- 44:50Jesus. His son cleanses us from all
- 44:52sins. If we say that, we have no sin,
- 44:54we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.
- 44:56If we confess our sins. He is faithful and just to
- 45:00forgive us of our sins and to cleanse us from all
- 45:03unrighteousness. Let's keep on, let's keep that
- 45:10in our Forefront of our minds each day as we strive to live
- 45:13her life in accordance with God's word.
- 45:16This do what it says and not that The Temptations of the
- 45:20scenes around us go and heated. But to overcome through Christ.
- 45:28Confess those sins and strive harder not to do them again.
- 45:33But if you haven't obeyed, the gospel of Christ, do not put on
- 45:38Christ and baptism. Galatians 3:27, then you're
- 45:41still in your sins. As we read in Ephesians 1:3 and
- 45:46Ephesians 1 verse 7. Says, unless you are in Christ.
- 45:50You cannot have the spiritual blessings such as forgiveness of
- 45:54our sins and eternal life in heaven.
- 45:57Don't be like, hmm. He waited.
- 46:00We don't know when our time will be up on this Earth.
- 46:04We don't know when the Lord is going to return, but we do know
- 46:06that will all come before him in judgement.
- 46:10There's things that. You need, if there's things that
- 46:15you are struggling with, there's anything that we can do to help
- 46:18when you come as we stand in sync.
