- 0:26[SPEAKER_02]: How you doing?
- 0:27[SPEAKER_03]: I'm awesome.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_03]: It came.

- 0:29[SPEAKER_03]: I'm with you.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_03]: I know you and I always have a great time and talk
- 0:33[SPEAKER_03]: some good bills stuff when we're on together, and I've been taking a little bit of a break this off season, but excited to hop back in.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_03]: Certainly been following it and doing everything I need to, but excited to hop back in and be on with you, man, and talk with the people again.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely, and I'm excited.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just as excited as you.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_02]: We usually have good chemistry when we're on.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, when Dave said he would be out, you was one of the actually one of the first people I thought of.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_02]: Great time to have my boy Anthony on.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_02]: So, we can discuss some some bills footballers is training camp now and
- 1:06[SPEAKER_02]: where we had the red and blue scrimmage.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_02]: So it's going to be some excellent discussions.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_02]: But before we start, if you're watching a YouTube, please give this a like, subscribe to the built-in Buffalo YouTube channel.

- 1:24[SPEAKER_02]: If you don't know us by now, we are built in Buffalo, please get to know us.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_02]: But Anthony,
- 1:31[SPEAKER_02]: There's been a lot of things going on about the Buffalo Bills this week.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_02]: It's been a lot of rumblings about a number of different topics and other planets that get into them.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_02]: But the first topic I want to get into is, is our quarterback, our rookie first round pick Maxwell Harrison.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_02]: There's been a lot of rumblings throughout the week of what his injury was when he first got hurt.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_02]: And a lot of us thought that it could have been to ACL and that was to fear.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_02]: And even if there was some force reports out there that that's what it could have been.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_02]: But luckily, thankfully not thankfully he got hurt, but thankfully it wasn't to that severity.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_02]: It was a LCL spraying, a lot of collateral ligament spraying.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_02]: First off, what is your thoughts on Maxwell Harrison and his progression thus far before he gets into his injury?
- 2:22[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, as as needed right now, like as advertised, you know, he's a rookie coming in for me anyway.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_03]: Like some people's expectations might have been through the roof.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_03]: They wanted him to come in day one and establish that he's the number two guy next to Christian Benford and he would start and all of that.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_03]: But for me, you're looking at a rookie, always coming in needs to progress, right?
- 2:43[SPEAKER_03]: I would be great.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_03]: I would've loved if by the end of training camp, he showed enough to be the number two guy and that would have been phenomenal, right?
- 2:51[SPEAKER_03]: But coming in, you have to learn.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_03]: You've got to take your bumps.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_03]: You're getting used to the NFL.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_03]: You're getting used to your team.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_03]: You're learning the playbook.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_03]: All that stuff.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, he's been on the team since he was drafted, but it's so much all at once.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_03]: First training camp going through the motions, learning, growing, doing what he needed to do.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_03]: He wasn't making every big play out there.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_03]: You know, he was making mistakes, but that's what you like to see.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_03]: Again, not that you like to see mistakes, but you like to see learning, growing, bonding with the guys.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_03]: And that is truly what
- 3:20[SPEAKER_03]: Maxwell Harrison was doing before the unfortunate injury, right?
- 3:25[SPEAKER_03]: So I was very happy with where Maxwell Harrison was going.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_03]: You know, obviously the reports are that trade white is really dominating out there and really competing to be that guy who's starting next to Christian Benford as the number two.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_03]: And yeah, so I mean,
- 3:42[SPEAKER_03]: It's the problem that we have now is that it does setback Maxwell Harrison, right?
- 3:47[SPEAKER_03]: This is a huge setback.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_03]: Any snaps miss.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_03]: We saw it last off season with Cole Bishop as a rookie right.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_03]: We'll get to him later.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_03]: I'm sure, but this, you know, it's it's unfortunate when a rookie misses that.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_03]: Mrs. Time in his first training camp because there's so much going on at every day is another big step in that right direction of getting on the field in a real game action for the first time in the NFL and and now Maxwell Harris then certainly is going to be set back from that yes they say the time table three to four weeks who knows and then in three to four weeks he's going to be on to me that this doesn't
- 4:23[SPEAKER_03]: This doesn't mean he's not going to be on the short term.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_03]: I just start the season.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_03]: In fact, I think that's the best route to go at this point, just to get him up to speed and let him catch up with the month that he's missing a month into the season and then be ready for him to get action.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_03]: if he's ready to see the field and who knows what will be at that point in terms of our roster.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, I really like Maxwell Harrison.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_03]: The one thing that, you know, when we drafted him that he was to bring to this team more than anything, yes, we needed quarterback that we needed to start or we needed guys that we could be confident in after the debacle we saw on the AFC Championship game, right?
- 5:00[SPEAKER_03]: I think last year we did this with linebacker where was, okay, we lost the linebacker.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_03]: We had to call somebody up the street, AJ Klein in the playoffs.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_03]: And then, you know, he had to play snaps in a game when he had him been there all year.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_03]: That worked, you know, in a way where they've been making the roster the next year said, we're loading up on flying back, or I'm never doing this again, we're gonna have the depth we need.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_03]: This year, it seemed like they did that with quarterback, right?
- 5:25[SPEAKER_03]: They've got guys they believe in, they brought him, guys that they know in Dane Jackson and Tray White, that you know what you're getting out of those guys, so you at least have a floor, right?
- 5:34[SPEAKER_03]: And that's really what they did to elevate this team.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_03]: But the one aspect of Harrison's game that I was really looking for it and what he was really going to bring to this team is take away ability, right?
- 5:46[SPEAKER_03]: He can take away the ball and he's really good at it and he makes plays on the ball.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_03]: He's that kind of cornerback, right?
- 5:53[SPEAKER_03]: I think that that is the part
- 5:55[SPEAKER_03]: with the depth that we have that we could end up missing out on while he's out.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_03]: And again, who knows if he would have been starting on day one or if he would have been even getting snaps in the defense come week one of the regular season or even week four if he's out that many weeks.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_03]: But that is the dynamic part of his game that I think the bills will miss the most.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_03]: But I like our depth enough and I'm comfortable with the guys we have on this roster who were on the bubble that could now make the team and you know, still probably won't see the field of tray whites the starter or whatever, but still having that depth is important.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely, having that depth is definitely important.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_02]: And what I'm going to, what I'm going to miss is, is the natural athletic ability from Maxwell Harris.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that is something that I wanted to see.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_02]: He had, you know, special man cover skills.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_02]: And of course, did he get beat while he was there in camp?
- 6:53[SPEAKER_02]: Of course, he did.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_02]: He's going to go through his lumps in the road and his bumps in the road as a rookie cornerback catching up to the speed of the game.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_02]: His natural athletic ability is something that you can't teach.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_02]: His man cover skills.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_02]: He was a gifted athlete.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_02]: He was one of the best, if not the best, you know, coal bishop may have something to say about that now.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_02]: We're getting a little bit more athletic in the back end, but he was probably the most athletic player we had in our defensive back field.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_02]: Definitely our fastest player in the defensive back field.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_02]: And now that he's out, I feel like, you know, the Buffalo Bills are kind of back to square one.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_02]: They don't have that, you know, they don't have that.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_02]: That natural athlete is more like technicians in the backfield now.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_02]: I think Christian Benford is a great man cover corner.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_02]: He's underrated as a man cover corner, but I believe he is a technician at his craft.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_02]: I believe tree white in this stage at his career.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_02]: He's more of a zone cover corner as opposed to a man cover corner, especially going through the significant injuries he's had in the past.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_02]: He wasn't fast when he was healthy.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm pretty sure he's lost a
- 7:55[SPEAKER_02]: a half a step if not a step.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm going to miss the natural athletic ability that that Maxwell Harris Harris didn't can possess and give the buffalo bills on that back end.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_02]: But like you said, I do have confidence in the group.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_02]: And I think
- 8:11[SPEAKER_02]: You know, Roy talked about a little bit.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_02]: I do have confidence in the group.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_02]: I do have confidence in tray whites ability still going into his latest stages of his career.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_02]: Why is that?
- 8:23[SPEAKER_02]: Because I think he's healthy now.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_02]: I think tray white is finally healthy and he's in a defensive scheme.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_02]: that he knows best.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_02]: He's not in that, you know, LA Ram scheme, that it was accident to do things.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_02]: He's not accustomed doing.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_02]: He's not in that Baltimore Ravens defense scheme where they was asking him to do things where he's not accustomed doing because of the defense that they run and they implement.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_02]: So back in Buffalo, running that covered three zone based scheme with some man principles.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_02]: Of course, the Buffalo bill's wanna run more man.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_02]: I really like the debt, but Anthony, I wanna ask you, does this give
- 8:58[SPEAKER_02]: any other corner back, I know we talked about tree white does this give anybody else in the corner back room an opportunity to get a bigger role you talked about a day in Jackson what do you thought about doing strong or any quarterback that we have yeah you mentioned the two guys who I think I don't want to say benefit but move up for me the most I guess in that case day Jackson for me was the one that I I had them off
- 9:21[SPEAKER_03]: the roster and likely to be on the practice squad as a guy who you know wants to stick around probably so he was the one for me where again there's a floor you know he can play in the defense he knows it he can teach it everything you know what you're getting out of danger and but it's not as exciting as the potential from some of these other guys like a Dorian strong right
- 9:42[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm excited to see again, which strong can bring in the preseason.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_03]: I expect that he's going to get a lot of playing time out there in the preseason, right?
- 9:49[SPEAKER_03]: As a rookie, as a guy who's not expected to be a starter, we're going to see what he can do, right?
- 9:54[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm excited to see that.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_03]: And I expect that he will make the roster I did before because he was a draft pick.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I like his ability.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_03]: I think he's the one who will get the most playing time and has the most upside with the opportunities, the snaps that are now open, right?
- 10:14[SPEAKER_03]: And in terms of danger, and it's more of, well, now we have the roster spot, whereas dorms like to be there anyway.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_03]: Dan Jackson is the roster fill where it's like okay now we can also carry this guy where we know what we're going to get from him and if we if we need to put somebody out there to trust we know we can trust him and to the point of trade white yes he's healthy but man after that first press conference
- 10:39[SPEAKER_03]: where he was talking to the media and dropping F bombs and talking to you.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_03]: I said, whoa, he's in a different headspace.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_03]: This is not the same tray white, you know, a old who's out there just having a good time and letting his, you know, reputation speak for itself.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_03]: Now he says, no, I'm back and damn it.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_03]: I'm good, right?
- 10:57[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm going to show you what I can do again.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_03]: that conference press conference really lit a fire under me and was like damn my confidence and tray white just kicked up a notch like yeah certainly without a doubt coming in even when we signed him you knew there was a floor right and that was why you sign a guy like tray white you have the depth without a doubt there's a floor you know what tray white can do he may not be the superstar tray white that he wants was but he's damn good even even without that to it to a certain extent
- 11:25[SPEAKER_03]: Now, if he can build and because he's healthy and because he's been working and because he's back in the build system, build back to being the best version of himself, even at this point in his age and career.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_03]: That's frickin' phenomenal for this team, and certainly would be CB too worthy.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_03]: And then you have a chance when maybe Harrison is healthy or one of these other young guys or Dan Jackson, where later in the season, when he does get inevitably banged up as all players do, you can rest him a little bit.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_03]: You can rotate, you can do things because you have that depth at the position.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_03]: In order to keep trade healthy, right, if that's ultimately the goal, that's part of what you're going to do.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_03]: And that's not usually what the bills do obviously, but that's, you know, I could foresee a rotation there where it's, you know, not necessarily
- 12:15[SPEAKER_03]: match up based or whatever but more okay one drive it's going to be trade white one drive it's going to be hairstyling you know or whoever it may be danger and whoever is in that kind of trustworthy role so yeah it's going to depend on opponent and things like that but I do see that later in the season being a benefit to having depth to the point where you trust multiple guys to go in there and and be the guy right
- 12:40[SPEAKER_02]: So I want to ask you, right?
- 12:41[SPEAKER_02]: And I want to ask the chat.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_02]: I want to get the chat thoughts as well.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_02]: You know, a Maxwell Harrison is battling an injury.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_02]: And it's like, it's the next man up.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_02]: And we are, we're comfortable with the Buffalo bills that because Maxwell Harrison, thank God, is not facing something seasoned injury on season ending.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_02]: But do you, are you comfortable enough to say, you know what?
- 13:05[SPEAKER_02]: Russell Douglas is sitting right out there, you know, and we're and anything can happen in these later practices and preseason games.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_02]: Is that a guy that you will entertain given a call to or are you comfortable with with the depth, even though, you know, it's another injury away from being even more scarce, you never know what may happen, right, Christian Benford.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_02]: He's had concussion issues last season, had multiple concussions.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_02]: We just spoke about tray white in his injury history.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_02]: Did you ever think about entertaining a Russell Douglas and give him a call or any quarterback you give him a call?
- 13:40[SPEAKER_03]: Certainly I would, yeah, I mean, I think Brandon being does his due diligence in this, right?
- 13:46[SPEAKER_03]: Russell's a guy who's been here before.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_03]: He's got him on speed dial, right?
- 13:49[SPEAKER_03]: So he's like, they probably already know his asking price or whatever it is, or maybe that he's waiting to see if an opportunity would open with the bills before he goes sign with another team who's already interested in him, right?
- 14:00[SPEAKER_03]: Or maybe he just wants to skip training camp.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_03]: Who knows with Russell right now?
- 14:04[SPEAKER_03]: because he's a valuable debt piece and there's a million teams who need to corner back desperately way more than the bills do right now even if Maxwell Harris didn't is out for longer than expected right I mean this is that we're in a much more comfortable position than a lot of teams in the NFL with the roster that they have that being said I certainly think that being should keep that in mind because now what happens if a tray white does get injured or if
- 14:28[SPEAKER_03]: You know, even a Dane Jackson who you were going to have on your roster all of a sudden you're like, okay, if he gets injured or something happened, he's not going to make the roster.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_03]: What do we do now?
- 14:38[SPEAKER_03]: We have an extra cornerback slot.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_03]: Who could be that guy?
- 14:42[SPEAKER_03]: you know to come in and Russell's a guy who would not need training camp who would not need anything can walk in day one and again you have a certain floor Russell certainly took a big step back last year in my mind right and and that's why he's no longer on the scene that's why the bills didn't resign but
- 15:00[SPEAKER_03]: It certainly is a debt piece or as an emergency, okay, we have an extra cornerback slot that we need and we need to bring in somebody we can trust.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_03]: Absolutely, you have a month's speed dial and being already knows the numbers that would take the contract, whatever, what do I need to do to make this happen?
- 15:15[SPEAKER_03]: And I don't think it would be much at this point otherwise he would be on a roster, right?
- 15:19[SPEAKER_03]: And he would have a starting chance on some other team.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously that's either not what he wants or they're not giving him what he wants.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_03]: So, yeah.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_02]: I think.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and I think, you know, the longer he obviously stays a free agent.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_02]: I think whatever his accent price was at the beginning of, for agency is definitely down Chris considerably.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_02]: And I agree with most of the chat most of the chat says, Hey, and you as well, they say, Hey, you know what Russell Douglas is a step slower.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_02]: He's not the same guy he was when the Buffaloville is initially picked them up for the third round makes two years ago.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_02]: but how I'm thinking is I like to be proactive a little bit and how I'm thinking is God forbid somebody else get injured would you rather have a Russell Doug would you rather try out Russell Douglas or Dan Jackson and as much as you know the step slower that Russell Douglas look I may still rather him over a Dan Jackson in a emergency situations but you know of of course is is definitely a lot to discuss and more to talk about there but I want to move on to another position group right
- 16:20[SPEAKER_02]: we obviously saw the red and blue scrimmage from the Buffalo Bill yesterday where we got to so we got to see Josh Allen and his red helmet.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of people are upset that he didn't get that as much playing time as they would have liked having forty thousand fans out there.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_02]: But I'm like, come on, let's have him for the regular season.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_02]: When I see him, you're going to see him a lot during the regular season.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_03]: So let's let's hold our who's there to shake hands and kiss babies.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_02]: Not to get all the grubs.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_02]: All right, exactly.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, sir.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_02]: But a guy that
- 16:49[SPEAKER_02]: hasn't practiced or did not participate in the and the red and blue game was coal bishop he was out with a quad injury right and he was out last year with a with a shoulder injury now we've been spoiled over the last few seasons well despite last year right we've been spoiled with Jordan poor and Mike a hide and their availability and durability to not only
- 17:16[SPEAKER_02]: play in games but make impact in those games that they play in.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_02]: How concerned are you with coal bishop and even tell a rap if you want to include him, his durability, the safety durability for the Buffalo bills, how concerned are you, especially knowing how important of a role, safety's play in a charming, German defense?
- 17:37[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, I certainly, like you said, we were spoiled rotten with poyer and hide.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, and the ability to not only be on the field, but be what they were on the field, right?
- 17:48[SPEAKER_03]: A tandem that was phenomenal in Bill's history, right?
- 17:53[SPEAKER_03]: One of the top tendoms in the NFL throughout their time together.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_03]: So now it's a matter of who is that tandem, who's going to take over?
- 18:00[SPEAKER_03]: Certainly, I think that Bishop and
- 18:05[SPEAKER_03]: wrap are the two most talented guys in the room should be the starters and all indications from camp were that those are the guys who are communicating most can be on the field.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_03]: all of that together.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_03]: My concern with Cole Bishop is certainly that these lingering injuries and really rap two, he's missed time over the past two years with injuries as well.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_03]: And with rap, it's more of his style of play, right?
- 18:30[SPEAKER_03]: He's going to miss a gamer too.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_03]: Why?
- 18:32[SPEAKER_03]: Because he's super, super aggressive and they love that about him.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you know, everybody talks about the friendly fire.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_03]: I hate that.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_03]: I was very
- 18:41[SPEAKER_03]: anti rap my the first season was with them like every time this guy's on the field somebody gets hurt and you know he misses a tackle he's very very aggressive um but they love that about him right and it does pay off when he's playing well certainly last year down the stretch I I started to see what rap coming to his own as as the best player he could be and I said okay now I could see why they want this guy on the field all the time and what he brings to this defense with that aggressiveness
- 19:08[SPEAKER_03]: Cole Bishop for me, the injury is more concerning because we haven't seen that growth and development and what he can be yet.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_03]: Really.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, we've seen flashes of it in small increments, but certainly not enough to say we're confident that he's our guy and he's going to be out there day one and he doesn't need to, you know, miss time.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_03]: A lot of these injuries that are happening at camp right now are more being safe than sorry, right?
- 19:32[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_03]: He's stuffed as big toe.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_03]: sit down for a little bit and you know your back hurts a little great sit down.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_03]: Don't even worry about it because you're a veteran.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_03]: We trust you.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_03]: But in Cole Bishop's case, if he's stuck his toe or is back or guess what, you need the snaps.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_03]: We need you on the field right now.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_03]: You need the practice reps.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_03]: So the fact that he's missing time means, hey, we're really worried about this.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_03]: We don't want to make it to get worse.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_03]: You cannot be out on the field practicing and
- 19:58[SPEAKER_03]: The fact that the one thing about coal bishop that I've been consistent on and I was live on the draft coverage when we picked gold bishop and said this very thing you picked and no I like coal bishop the player I liked him when we picked him I liked him as a draft prospect the talent is there the ability is there
- 20:15[SPEAKER_03]: But you have Sean McDermott as a head coach.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_03]: He could turn a came and I into starting safeties in the NFL.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_03]: I'm confident in that.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_03]: He can get baseline, safety baseline, not like superstar, but you can get baseline activity from a body, anybody on that roster.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_03]: He can turn a talented guy like Hyde Poir, you know, those were good guys in their time before the bills.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_03]: They became superstars with the bills or, you know, all of Sean McDermott's history with that position, the safety position, especially.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_03]: He turns guys from good into superstars, right?
- 20:53[SPEAKER_03]: When we show it when being in the team chose to draft a safety in the second round of the NFL draft, I was the one on air live and ever since then who said, I don't like picking a safety in the second round, not because, oh yeah, Sean McDermott could do that.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_03]: If a guy's worth it, you draft him there.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_03]: But because now you put on him the ultimate pressure.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_03]: The ultimate pressure.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_03]: This guy has to be a superstar.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_03]: He can't be just good.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_03]: He can't be just great.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_03]: He has to be a superstar and he needs to be a superstar now.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_03]: Because you invested a second-round pick, think about if we drafted a wide receiver there, an offensive line in there, a quarterback there.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_03]: Anything else in the second round of that draft where we pick Cole Bishop?
- 21:38[SPEAKER_03]: They would need to be contributing now.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_03]: The fact that it's a safety only makes that worse.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_03]: The pressure is on from day one.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_03]: Hey, safety.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_03]: We could have picked a guy in the sixth seventh undrafted rounds and he could play as good as you are right now.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_03]: Right?
- 21:52[SPEAKER_03]: So no, you were drafted in the second round.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_03]: You need to be one of the top safeties in the NFL.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_03]: And that's my not my expectation.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_03]: That's the expectation that should be put on him based on where he was picked and who he was picked by, right?
- 22:06[SPEAKER_03]: This has been in McDermott and McDermott especially.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_03]: So if you can't maximize your talent with McDermott, you don't belong in the NFL at this position.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_03]: And not that I'm concerned that Bishop doesn't have that, but there has come to light with the press conferences as well from Joe Brady or from
- 22:25[SPEAKER_03]: The defense and other ones, other guys saying that part of it was mental for coal bishop, which again, that's completely understandable for any of these guys.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_03]: You will never hear me, you know, wrap on a guy who's, oh yeah, or put a guy down because he's had mental struggles in the NFL.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_03]: There is a lot of pressure that comes with this.
- 22:45[SPEAKER_03]: There's a lot of money, right?
- 22:47[SPEAKER_03]: There's a lot on the line that puts you in a position where you have to succeed.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_03]: Now these guys got to get used to it and they got to play up to that ability.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_03]: There's no way around that or they're not going to make it.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_03]: But in Cole Bishop's case, he was clearly struggling mentally off the field and on the field as well.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_03]: And hopefully now he's matured enough through a year of experience.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_03]: He feels more comfortable.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_03]: He's been with the bills throughout the whole off season.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_03]: I think that that will help him grow and develop.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_03]: But he's got to be on the field.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_03]: You've got to get those snaps.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_03]: And the longer he's injured, the more my confidence wins.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_03]: However, that being said, tomorrow, Hamlin is your, I mean, the way this guy gets talked about around the NFL and even within Bill circles annoys me.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_03]: Tomorrow, Hamlin won the starting job last year.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_03]: We brought in five bodies and tomorrow, Hamlin won that job.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_03]: He said, no, I'm the best guy on this field right now and you will put me on the field.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_03]: And we had to because he was, right?
- 23:48[SPEAKER_03]: Now this year he is a just like we talked about before he is the baseline of this is the floor now even if one of these guys you know we we have to put him out there
- 24:00[SPEAKER_03]: Great.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_03]: He'll succeed.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_03]: We know what he can do.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_03]: He's not going to be a superstar.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_03]: He'll make plays.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_03]: He'll misplays.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_03]: But he's going to give us a baseline in this defense that we're comfortable with.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_03]: And we know what we're going to get out of that.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_03]: And then you bring in, uh, uh, what's his name from from Washington who we got his name slips my mind.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_01]: Dang it.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, forced.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, for us.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_03]: There's, there's other guys there who who can now bring in interesting potential to the team, right?
- 24:30[SPEAKER_03]: What can for us to in McDermott's defense, again, talking about how he's a safety guru, this is another one of those guys who's flashed and shown talent across the NFL, now comes in as a veteran to Buffalo.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, that to me is one of those shiny little stars that says Sean McDermott picking a rostered, you know, safety who's coming in, clearly he sees something that he can mold and likes.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_03]: We haven't heard much about that.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_03]: I haven't heard much about that throughout training camp yet, but I think that, you know, you wouldn't bring a guy in just under those circumstances without that without having that confidence and endorsement from Sean McDermott.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_03]: You know, overall with the safety position, I do think it's not our strongest depth on the roster.
- 25:14[SPEAKER_03]: It's not my most confident position on the roster, but I do think that having those guys tomorrow hamling especially sets the floor for where we can be.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_03]: Now, if both wrap and Bishop end up injured at some point and out, then I'm a little concerned.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_03]: Then it's okay.
- 25:32[SPEAKER_03]: What does Jackson bring?
- 25:33[SPEAKER_03]: What does, what to, Hamlin and whoever is the other guy look like together?
- 25:38[SPEAKER_03]: And then who do we bring in if we needed to sign somebody?
- 25:41[SPEAKER_03]: Right?
- 25:42[SPEAKER_03]: Is, you know, who's getting the fifth safety snaps on the team?
- 25:46[SPEAKER_03]: And that's where, you know, it gets a little more concerning for me.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_03]: So this, am I concerned a little bit, certainly, and with Cole Bishop, it's more about
- 25:55[SPEAKER_03]: put up or shut up, like, come on, get on the field.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_03]: Do what you can do live up to your ability.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_03]: And I want to do that by supporting him, not putting him down or like saying, he can't do it.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_03]: I know he has the ability.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_03]: I liked him as a prospect, but picking him where he did, the pressure is there and he's got to live up to it.
- 26:11[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_02]: And we talk about, you know, the more Hamlin, right?
- 26:15[SPEAKER_02]: Talk about him a little bit.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_02]: I don't blame the more Hamlin.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_02]: You know, the more Hamlin at the end of the day, he's a six round pick.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_02]: You know, he, he defied all odds.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_02]: If you're going to be mad at anybody, you've got to be mad at or if you've got to fill a way about possibly showing me German and Brandon being not bringing in better talent.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_02]: So then then the more Hamlin, then the more Hamlin taking that job.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_02]: You know, as a six round pick, the more Hamlin exceeded expectations.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_02]: And being into, he's not, he's not as athletically gifted as a coal bishop, but he's always in the right place at the right time.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_02]: And being at the right place at the right time, I'm looking at as a skill.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_02]: Right, just like Taylor rap, he gets in reception or the in reception is go right to rap the tip and he's just there Yeah, and in the right place the right time is a skill is not a coincidence.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, we can't harp on on tomorrow.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_02]: Hamlin down.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_02]: Is he athletically limited?
- 27:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, he's athletically limited doesn't have a ceiling.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, he has a ceiling, but for what he's done as a six round pick.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_02]: He's definitely expecting expectations.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_03]: I think it was what six or eight games that is rookie season as a guy who was a six-round pick and barely made the roster was just over look.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_03]: he played well that year and that's when really all of our eyes open and said oh this guy can actually play you know again not being a superstar but he can play on the field of wood he can fill it he can fill it and then when he came back from the injury everybody's like oh it's just because of that like no do you not realize that this guy did that before any of this injury stuff and now he's doing it again after and then he won the job last year and people still think
- 28:10[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, he can get cut and it won't be an issue.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I won't care.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_03]: Like, no, he contributes and he should be on this team.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_03]: And he's probably going to play special teams as well, right?
- 28:18[SPEAKER_03]: So certainly, he's still a valuable member of this team.
- 28:23[SPEAKER_03]: And my respect for him has never waned because of that.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_03]: Like everything we've seen from Hamlin is everything he is, right?
- 28:29[SPEAKER_03]: Like a good human being who does the right thing, who tries his damn artists on the field and is earned every little bit of what he's gotten.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_03]: So I love that guy on my team all the time.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely, especially as a depth piece for me, but getting back to Cole Bishop right quick.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_02]: He has all the athletic ability in the world, right?
- 28:49[SPEAKER_02]: I do think and I said this before I do think to the rap and Cole Bishop is a little redundant who's going to play where who's the box safety, who's the pre who's the free safety.
- 28:58[SPEAKER_02]: who plays best where I think is something to have to figure out.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_02]: But Cole Bishop has to, in my opinion, he has to steal the field.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_02]: He has to steal the field, and we've seen the mental capacity not being where it needed to be at times last year.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_02]: We've seen it in the Houston Texans game.
- 29:13[SPEAKER_02]: When he got beat deep, when they got beat deep, that Nico Collins touchdown, it's been years since I've seen the bills, since I've seen receivers get behind the safety of the Buffalo bills.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_02]: So that aspect of the game he definitely has to work on, but he has all the athletic ability in the world.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_02]: And hopefully we get to see that progression this year, especially like you said, being highly touted, second round pick in a charming, German defense.
- 29:38[SPEAKER_02]: So we need him, Cole Bishop, we expect him to be impact player this year.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_02]: We expect him to be that breakout player this year.
- 29:46[SPEAKER_02]: When we talk about bills, players that you expect to take the next leap of progression, Cole Bishop, almost did it again.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_02]: Cole Bishop name, Cole Bishop name is on that list as a player that needs to take that leap of progression and we need that as a team in order to have success as a defense, we need Cole Bishop to play well.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think one of the other.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_03]: One of the other points there in the chat that Doug said that I want to bring up there.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_03]: I think the D line will be better.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_03]: So not as much pressure on the back end guys.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_03]: Hundred percent.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_03]: I've been saying this all off season two in my group chats to my friends to around the people when people ask me about the bills.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_03]: What's better about the bills this year.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously it's D line right and we talk about that will
- 30:31[SPEAKER_03]: You know, all the guys we signed and things going on there.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_03]: That's the obvious one that people are like, oh, the bills beefed up their deadline because they want to go after the chiefs.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_03]: Bills fans and non, you know, bring that up with me.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_03]: And the first thing I always say is that's also going to make things a heck of a lot easier for the defensive bags in general, the cornerbacks and safeties, right?
- 30:50[SPEAKER_03]: When you know those defensive guys are upfront are getting to the quarterback and going after him and making forcing a play, you can be ready for what's happening next and you can be more aggressive and go after the ball and
- 31:02[SPEAKER_03]: It's et cetera.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_03]: So it's going to make it easier all around this year.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_03]: I think with a better upfront for the guys in back.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_03]: And so they might flash, right?
- 31:10[SPEAKER_03]: We might see the best version of Taylor rap and trade white and, you know, everybody else out there because of the better D line.
- 31:18[SPEAKER_02]: The line and I'm glad and you know what I was going to go on the office aside, but I'm gonna I'm gonna get there, but I think this is a great segue and if you're now tuning in to Bill's I was you once again I appreciate everybody for tuning in I'm your host a rich I can't reach in as I got Anthony Romeo and here filling in for D and three tonight I appreciate him for being in but why since we're on the D line right
- 31:41[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, I have a question for you.
- 31:42[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's been, it's been a revamped defensive line.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think we're going to see any shack lawsuits.
- 31:49[SPEAKER_02]: Or Jordan Phillips this year, right?
- 31:51[SPEAKER_02]: We got, you know, especially at the defensive tackle position, we got a plus for a defensive tackle.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_02]: TJ Sanders, Dion Walker, Larry O'Conjobe, Michael Hoyt, Duane Carter.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_02]: Uh,
- 32:02[SPEAKER_02]: Dequan Jones is a guy that when people speak about him, they think that he's possibly on the bubble.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_02]: I'm probably wanted a few.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think Dequan Jones is on the bubble.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_02]: I think Dequan Jones is a valued presence along the Buffalo Bills, D-Line, and defense.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_02]: I think he has the experience that I think is necessary for the young rookies and young guys.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_02]: And I think he's another year removed from injury.
- 32:27[SPEAKER_02]: I know he plays sixteen games last year, but I think he's going to be even better this year.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_02]: and I think a lot of us are overlooking him because of the revamp players that we do have.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_02]: Give me your thoughts on Dayquan Jones a little bit before we touch on the rest of the defensive tackles.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_02]: Do you think he's safe?
- 32:42[SPEAKER_02]: Do you think he's a bubble guy?
- 32:43[SPEAKER_02]: We should thoughts on Dayquan and his role for the Buffalo Bill's this season.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_03]: Well, certainly coming into the season is a different conversation than week seven, right?
- 32:52[SPEAKER_03]: Or week eight, I guess it is because we have a by week week seven.
- 32:55[SPEAKER_03]: But when we, when the two guys who are suspended come back, there's going to be roles, you got to, you got to have roster spots to give up in order to get those guys back.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_03]: So there's a question to be had there at the beginning of the season.
- 33:08[SPEAKER_03]: Certainly to me, I'm with you.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_03]: Dayquan Jones is a guy.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_03]: He's a true one tech, right?
- 33:14[SPEAKER_03]: I think he's the only true one tech on the team right and we know again McDermott and what the way he runs this team and everything he goes with guys he knows he can trust him what he knows he can get out of them right there might be a more talented guy out there but Sean McDermott goes with what he can trust the most not who has the highest potential right because with the high potential guy there could be a lower floor
- 33:38[SPEAKER_03]: He'll take the higher floor with the lower ceiling all day long.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_03]: That's just who Sean McDermott is.
- 33:43[SPEAKER_03]: And that's what we've talked about with some of these other positions and having depth and going with guys you trust.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_03]: And the way being builds the roster, right?
- 33:50[SPEAKER_03]: I think Dequan Jones is an essential piece of this D line right now, right?
- 33:55[SPEAKER_03]: As the veteran in the room, as the guy who can teach the other young guys who are playing that position.
- 34:00[SPEAKER_03]: And like you said, he's been coming off injuries, now he's healthy,
- 34:06[SPEAKER_03]: We hope he can return to the form.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_03]: He was the beginning of two seasons ago when he was, you know, being a lead level play.
- 34:12[SPEAKER_03]: And yeah, I have all the confidence in the world that that take on Jones will be on this on this team, right?
- 34:19[SPEAKER_03]: Like, and play right and play significant snaps.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, he's older.
- 34:24[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that we know they rotate the line all the time.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_03]: But to me, he is the guy that I believe will be on this team.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_03]: Now, could there be something we don't know about like the coaches and team feel like he has taken a significant step back?
- 34:38[SPEAKER_03]: To me, he would be a surprise cut.
- 34:40[SPEAKER_03]: And what that cut would tell me is
- 34:43[SPEAKER_03]: Listen, we learn throughout this process that he's no longer who we thought he was.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_03]: And unfortunately, that means he's going to get cut.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_03]: And again, when that week seven week eight, I guess it'll be transition happens, that's going to be when
- 35:00[SPEAKER_03]: We find out it's put up her shut up time, right?
- 35:02[SPEAKER_03]: Somebody's gonna have to go.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_03]: Somebody's gonna be flashing during that time and somebody's gonna be struggling and whoever is the one that's struggling is likely to be the guy who's cut and either put on the practice squad or you know no longer with the team.
- 35:15[SPEAKER_03]: So I don't I don't think even coming into that position.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_03]: Take Juan Jones is not the guy on my list that I think would get cut or remove in the event that that those guys come back.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_02]: And I think you said it, you said it best right there.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_02]: I think they're, they're going to be defensive tackles.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_02]: That's going to be auditioning to be on the team for the duration of the season.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_02]: Once suspensions from Michael Hoyt and Larry Ogonjoby finish, right?
- 35:44[SPEAKER_02]: And I think, you know, whoever's playing the best, just like you said, obviously is going to remain on the team and whoever's struggling is one of those guys that's going to be to act out and Roy, Roy Williams talked about a guy that
- 35:54[SPEAKER_02]: uh, playing Carter talking about, you know, he got, he got drafted to play a three, three-tech defense attack or what they have in playing one tech.
- 36:02[SPEAKER_02]: So when I see that there is like, okay, he's playing out of position, if he is playing out of position, how successful can a doing Carter be in a position?
- 36:11[SPEAKER_02]: He's not accustomed to playing necessarily.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_02]: So I think he could be a guy that we could be on to watch for being an eye guy out, even in his second year.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_02]: Even his second year, I think is going to be interesting to see what happens throughout the first six or seven weeks to see who has that six.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_03]: And who gets the opportunity in that time as well, right?
- 36:31[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, we know again, they rotate all the time, but not all these guys are going to see thirty percent of the snaps on the field at a time, right?
- 36:37[SPEAKER_03]: So I, that'll be interesting to me as well.
- 36:39[SPEAKER_03]: And who flashes when they do get the opportunity.
- 36:42[SPEAKER_03]: Carter and me, I almost feel bad for the guy.
- 36:44[SPEAKER_03]: Super high character guy.
- 36:45[SPEAKER_03]: We know that he struggled last season and, you know, the injuries.
- 36:49[SPEAKER_03]: This year, you come in, now you're changing position, okay, now we want you to gain weight or whatever it is, you know, usually for the one tech, right?
- 36:57[SPEAKER_03]: So I don't, I don't know how he's reacting to that change, but clearly the coaching staff was confident he could make that change.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_03]: So it's certainly one that all of us need to keep our eyes on and say, okay,
- 37:10[SPEAKER_03]: what does he look like as a one tech and can he do this and you know maybe he's not the flashiest guy but he again brings a certain level of expectation and can be the rotational guy because you know you do need to start but you need somebody who can rotate into and their confidence in him is is what I want to see more than anything so that that'll become more apparent as we get closer to that cut line I don't want it to be him either honestly again high character
- 37:41[SPEAKER_03]: He was a captain everywhere.
- 37:44[SPEAKER_03]: And his play on the field.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it speaks for itself for what it was in college.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, not yet at the NFL.
- 37:50[SPEAKER_03]: But again, limited opportunity first year guy.
- 37:53[SPEAKER_03]: Now I want to see him grow.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_03]: And I don't think that he would be their first guy to say, OK, we're giving up on you this early, especially with those credentials.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_03]: You know, the things that McDermott and being really, really love in their locker room.
- 38:09[SPEAKER_02]: Now, let me, let me ask you this, third and fifteen obvious passive situation, who is your forward defensive lineman that you're putting on the field to get to the quarterback on third and fifteen.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_02]: Well, in the chat in the chat, I can answer this soon because I'm thinking, I'm thinking the Buffalo bills and this staff is going more of a position and the position list, the fence of line approach in terms of how they do things because, you know, you want to wait out.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_02]: Are you saying before, wait or after, wait, is that?
- 38:43[SPEAKER_02]: I'm, I'm, I'm period period just started fifteen who who's the who's the four best defensive linemen to get to the quarterback that you will want to see on the football field.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_02]: Who's your four down linemen on third and fifteen?
- 38:55[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I mean, at Oliver, if you don't have him there, you're crazy, right?
- 38:59[SPEAKER_03]: So Oliver's definitely there.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_03]: And so I would say the same thing, right?
- 39:03[SPEAKER_03]: You know, Rousseau's there.
- 39:05[SPEAKER_03]: If Joey boasts his healthy, I don't know how you keep him off the field.
- 39:07[SPEAKER_03]: So there's three, right?
- 39:08[SPEAKER_03]: So the question is, who's the fourth, really?
- 39:12[SPEAKER_03]: And yeah, I mean, you could make an argument for a lot of those guys in the middle.
- 39:19[SPEAKER_03]: You know, is it dayquan Jones?
- 39:22[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe not.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe you go and you say if I want to rush the quarterback, I'm putting in, there you go.
- 39:28[SPEAKER_03]: TJ Sanders.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_03]: That's exactly who I was going to say.
- 39:31[SPEAKER_03]: That is the one where it's like, OK, if I need to rush the passer, this is what TJ Sanders does well.
- 39:38[SPEAKER_03]: And again, we've talked about this since he's been drafted, but the TJ Sanders, et al.
- 39:42[SPEAKER_03]: of a smaller delineman combination is something that's been discussed, right?
- 39:46[SPEAKER_03]: So it's like, what are we going to do with this smaller deline interior?
- 39:50[SPEAKER_03]: Well, for rushing the pastor on third and fifteen put those guys in there and let's do those guys in.
- 39:54[SPEAKER_03]: But you're talking about group posts that all of those guys are ten plus saccability guys.
- 40:00[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, I'd love to have all four of them on the field.
- 40:03[SPEAKER_03]: and then you know let our defense do what it can do certainly way level of confidence infinity higher than last season right where it was a oh my god third and fifteen just given the first out I felt like that by the end of the season because we really really struggled in third and long situation we did and it was because we didn't get to the quarterback so that's that's really what has to change with this team and I would say again they took something that they said being is an artist this way
- 40:32[SPEAKER_03]: What is our greatest weakness?
- 40:34[SPEAKER_03]: We're now going to make it our strength.
- 40:36[SPEAKER_03]: And that is really what they've done with this D line.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_03]: They said, what's our greatest weakness?
- 40:40[SPEAKER_03]: We can't finish.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_03]: We don't get to the quarterback and finish.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_03]: We can't be ultimately there.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_03]: I hated the, oh, well, we had the highest level of what's the term when you get to the quarterback, but you don't make the sack.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_03]: I can't even think of it.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_02]: Pressure pressure.
- 40:54[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I like the pressure.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, hi, Jerry.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_02]: Jerry Hughes.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_02]: I call you Jerry Hughes.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_03]: after your pressure.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_03]: Your pressure is don't mean anything.
- 41:02[SPEAKER_03]: You've got to finish, baby.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_03]: You've got to finish.
- 41:04[SPEAKER_03]: And yeah, pressures are good if they result in something like an incomplete mess or whatever.
- 41:09[SPEAKER_03]: But when the pressure results in a third and fifteen becoming a first down every time, that's a problem for this team.
- 41:14[SPEAKER_03]: So this year with that quad four players on the field, I mean, even if you substitute one of those guys, you know, Joey Boses taking a rest.
- 41:23[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, throw in your next favorite past pressure on this team and you're okay, right?
- 41:29[SPEAKER_02]: I'm also intrigued with Javans Solomon in his his passion for stability.
- 41:33[SPEAKER_03]: That was actually going to be the name that I brought up as a guy from last year.
- 41:37[SPEAKER_03]: I loved him last year as a as a pick because I thought he would learn from you know the best in Von Miller at somebody who is that size and and that ability.
- 41:46[SPEAKER_03]: So I and all talks from camp are he's really growing this this offseason.
- 41:51[SPEAKER_03]: So
- 41:52[SPEAKER_03]: You know, if he's a guy who can spot, you know, again, say Joey Bosa's win did, okay?
- 41:56[SPEAKER_03]: We'll put him out there.
- 41:57[SPEAKER_03]: And again, a past rush guy who can who has a different type of attack and move and style than Russo for sure, but also the interior guys, that to me is a dynamic, you know, what if I'm the offense,
- 42:11[SPEAKER_03]: I'm worried about that.
- 42:12[SPEAKER_03]: I'm saying, okay, what do I plan for?
- 42:15[SPEAKER_03]: At Oliver's going to come bold, rushed me up the middle.
- 42:17[SPEAKER_03]: TJ Sanders is going to find the whole, you know, Solomon's going to be the shifty spin move guy.
- 42:23[SPEAKER_03]: And Rousseau will come out on the end.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you cannot win in that situation.
- 42:28[SPEAKER_03]: What do you plan for?
- 42:29[SPEAKER_03]: One of those guys is going to get home, right?
- 42:31[SPEAKER_03]: And obviously, even with those combinations, it doesn't mean they're going to sack the quarterback every time.
- 42:35[SPEAKER_03]: But I'm damn excited to see the success rate of successful plays, even if it's you forced to screen paths that only went for three yards instead of, you know, a big play on every every attempt.
- 42:47[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, I'm super, super excited to see
- 42:51[SPEAKER_03]: Because over the years, it's been exhausting to watch our D-line not live up to expectations.
- 42:56[SPEAKER_03]: And really, it's been three, four years of this where it's like, God, we need to get to the past, right?
- 43:02[SPEAKER_03]: And we tried thing after thing and been unsuccessful in different cultures have come in.
- 43:06[SPEAKER_03]: And now this year, they're like, you know what?
- 43:08[SPEAKER_03]: Balls to the wall.
- 43:09[SPEAKER_03]: We're trying it different this year.
- 43:11[SPEAKER_03]: And then you talk about, hey, who's a guy that could be your, you know, linebacker past-rush specialist, you know, everything, right?
- 43:20[SPEAKER_01]: Everything.
- 43:20[SPEAKER_03]: And you put him out there in a, you know, second and fifteen situation where it's like, okay.
- 43:25[SPEAKER_03]: maybe we could run the ball here, but we're likely to pass, and you know, he's still likely he could be rushing, he could be, you know, doing a blitz and coming after the quarterback, or he could be dropping in coverage and going after somebody, right?
- 43:37[SPEAKER_03]: So the excitement I have for what this defensive line can bring to this team, it cannot be understated.
- 43:44[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it's as high as it could possibly be.
- 43:47[SPEAKER_03]: Even in the preseason, I'm going to be watching that, but man, come week one and come the real season.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_03]: That is only going to grow and develop as the season goes on.
- 43:55[SPEAKER_03]: And instead of being our weakness in the playoffs, it's going to be our strength.
- 43:58[SPEAKER_03]: And that's what I'm looking forward to.
- 44:00[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 44:01[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 44:02[SPEAKER_02]: Shifting gifts.
- 44:04[SPEAKER_02]: Talking about lines, let's shift over to the offensive side of the ball.
- 44:08[SPEAKER_02]: More specifically, let's talk about the offensive line a little bit, because we're getting players back from injury, we're getting Dawson Knox back.
- 44:16[SPEAKER_02]: He's been, he started practicing Tyroshavers, who looked like he had a bad injury with his ankle, he's back, and Spencer Brown is activated off the public, I believe.
- 44:26[SPEAKER_02]: So let's talk about Spencer for a little bit.
- 44:29[SPEAKER_02]: I got a question.
- 44:31[SPEAKER_02]: do you think Spencer Brown is the key to continue stability amongst the along the office of line in twenty twenty five because I think he's I think he's a key cog in the office of line I think he's our best run blocker
- 44:46[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, amongst the Buffalo Bill's offensive line, I think James Cook has success.
- 44:50[SPEAKER_02]: Of course, he's a great back, but I think, you know, uh, when the offensive line can open up those holes and makes the Brennan back look even better.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_02]: And I think Spencer Brown is a big proponent to open it up those holes.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_02]: Those running lanes along the offensive line.
- 45:05[SPEAKER_02]: Only allow one sack last season three hits allowed zero point two percent Sacrate and he started all seventeen games So I want to get your thoughts on on Spencer Brown a little bit and and what he brings to the offensive line which I think he's a he's a he's a he's a he's a contributor and that's a loop factor
- 45:25[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, guys who know the offensive lineman throughout the NFL, no Spencer Brown know his unbelievable athletic ability and now have put some respect on his name in terms of, this guy could be considered a top ten offensive lineman in the league and nobody would bat an eye if you really know offensive lineman.
- 45:42[SPEAKER_03]: right?
- 45:43[SPEAKER_03]: We as Buffalo Bill's fans appreciate Spencer Brown for his growth and what he's become and what he's given to this team.
- 45:49[SPEAKER_03]: But even on the Buffalo Bill's, if you say offensive line, we don't say Spencer Brown.
- 45:54[SPEAKER_03]: We say Deon Dawkins because he's that damn good and he deserves all that and Dawkins has been that guy and is the leader on this offensive line in this team, really, it behind Josh Allen, of course.
- 46:06[SPEAKER_03]: But
- 46:06[SPEAKER_03]: you know without a doubt right so it's Spencer Brown deserves every bit of the love that he doesn't get and he does get but it's being compared to the offensive line he'll always be the second guy in the offensive line because there's the endocons right if you tell me which player would I be scared the most to lose certainly I wouldn't want to lose Spencer Brown Spencer Brown comes off the field whoever's replacing him filing grable has been the fourth guy right
- 46:34[SPEAKER_03]: or the next tackle, whatever you want to call them.
- 46:36[SPEAKER_03]: That's, I think you lose something, right?
- 46:39[SPEAKER_03]: You lose a superior athletic ability.
- 46:42[SPEAKER_03]: Now, I have utmost faith and confidence in our offensive line because the continuity, the coach, right?
- 46:50[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you cannot, you cannot exceed
- 46:53[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, the expectations are high, but they all live up to them.
- 46:57[SPEAKER_03]: So I, and returning as many guys as we have, really, the entire offensive line is phenomenal, especially after they had a record breaking year.
- 47:05[SPEAKER_03]: So I think, you know, even if you lost a Spencer Brown, it wouldn't be great.
- 47:10[SPEAKER_03]: I would be like, ooh, that's not good, because you definitely take a step back.
- 47:14[SPEAKER_03]: You definitely worry about a guy filling in.
- 47:16[SPEAKER_03]: But the guy who's coming in could probably start on half the NFL teams and be a good starter, not just,
- 47:23[SPEAKER_02]: I like Talon Grable a lot.
- 47:24[SPEAKER_02]: I like Talon Grable a lot.
- 47:26[SPEAKER_02]: I'm interested.
- 47:27[SPEAKER_02]: I can't wait to see him in preseason actually.
- 47:29[SPEAKER_02]: Talon Grable, you know, I like his hands.
- 47:31[SPEAKER_02]: He has violent hands.
- 47:32[SPEAKER_02]: I want to see how he does in past protection and then run game as well.
- 47:36[SPEAKER_03]: And he's going to get those opportunities again in this preseason for sure.
- 47:39[SPEAKER_03]: And we've seen that from him before.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_03]: He's earned that that next man up at tackle position, right?
- 47:45[SPEAKER_03]: So I think that, you know, he's he's
- 47:48[SPEAKER_03]: Grable is a good fill in there, but if you said, we would lose Deon Dawkins for a period of time, I would be much more concerned than, you know, a fence of brown, not just because of what's on the field, because what Deon does is special, right, in a fact that he is unique.
- 48:07[SPEAKER_03]: Spencer Brown is elite athleticism at its most, right?
- 48:12[SPEAKER_03]: Without a doubt, one of the most athletic dudes in the NFL and all that.
- 48:16[SPEAKER_03]: And certainly he's showing his ability on the field.
- 48:18[SPEAKER_03]: Dion Dawkins is one of a kind.
- 48:20[SPEAKER_03]: He, you know, with that position, he sets up the way he attacks guys, one of a kind.
- 48:26[SPEAKER_03]: So anybody who's filling in for Dawkins would be a complete change to this offensive line.
- 48:31[SPEAKER_03]: And again, he's the leader.
- 48:32[SPEAKER_03]: He's the communicator.
- 48:33[SPEAKER_03]: You know, he's the guy out there.
- 48:37[SPEAKER_03]: And certainly, you know, you don't want to lose either of them.
- 48:39[SPEAKER_03]: But Spencer Brown, I think it's underappreciated because of that fact, right?
- 48:43[SPEAKER_03]: It's more important.
- 48:45[SPEAKER_03]: But Brown certainly, I mean, he cannot get enough love.
- 48:48[SPEAKER_03]: And like I said, he's a top ten offensive lineman in my mind.
- 48:51[SPEAKER_03]: These, this pair of tackles is absolutely elite.
- 48:54[SPEAKER_03]: And they showed that last year.
- 48:55[SPEAKER_03]: And there's no reason to not believe that this year.
- 48:58[SPEAKER_03]: And certainly with the guy like Spencer Brown and the injury this beginning of the season, beginning of the training camp, to me is one of those where
- 49:06[SPEAKER_03]: We know who you are.
- 49:07[SPEAKER_03]: You don't need to play a damn snap.
- 49:09[SPEAKER_03]: You're playing on day one and you're in my start, right?
- 49:11[SPEAKER_03]: So if you're, if you stub your big toe, you sit down on the bench, have yourself, you know, a look at the playbook or whatever, flip around and wave to the fans or whatever, because
- 49:22[SPEAKER_03]: We don't need you to get injured or whatever and you're too valuable to us to risk that.
- 49:27[SPEAKER_03]: So we have the confidence in you.
- 49:28[SPEAKER_03]: We know who you are.
- 49:29[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm not as worried about that injury.
- 49:33[SPEAKER_03]: Even though it was a back thing and we know he said back issues in the past.
- 49:36[SPEAKER_03]: No, not as worried about that.
- 49:39[SPEAKER_02]: And it was crazy is the buffalo bills as far as position rules.
- 49:44[SPEAKER_02]: We talk about athleticism with the with the corner bags or with the safeties.
- 49:48[SPEAKER_02]: The buffalo bills offensive line might be the most athletic position group that they have on the footboard to when you talk about the dockers and his athletic ability the way he can get to the second level.
- 50:00[SPEAKER_02]: You talk about Spencer Brown.
- 50:01[SPEAKER_02]: Why I think is probably one of the most if not
- 50:03[SPEAKER_02]: the most athletic tackle in all the NFL, where in Spencer Brown at six eight over three hundred and fifty-two pounds, and less and less and not forget kind of a govern who's a, who's a hell of an athlete in his own right in the center position.
- 50:17[SPEAKER_02]: So the Buffalo bills as far as athleticism within a position group, offensive line might take the cake and we got to give more kudos to Aaron Chroma.
- 50:27[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 50:28[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 50:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Van Van the Mark.
- 50:30[SPEAKER_02]: He played well last season at times.
- 50:32[SPEAKER_02]: Alex Anderson do does a great job as a six offensive lineman.
- 50:35[SPEAKER_02]: We talk about Tyler and Grable and being intrigued to see him this preseason.
- 50:40[SPEAKER_02]: The Buffalo bills have that at the offensive line position and Aaron Kroma is a big proponent of that.
- 50:47[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's one of the best offensive line coaches in this NFL.
- 50:52[SPEAKER_03]: And he makes every player who comes in becomes the best version of themselves, right?
- 50:57[SPEAKER_03]: And that's all you can ask a coach to do.
- 50:59[SPEAKER_03]: That is, if you had that from every coach, you'd be the best team in the league by far, right?
- 51:04[SPEAKER_03]: And that is with a guy like him, you know, without a doubt to me, the most respected
- 51:09[SPEAKER_03]: offensive line coach out there and his track record speaks for itself and the guys love him and yeah he does whatever it is he whispers in their ear and practices with them you know I don't know what it is an offensive line coach can do to do that to get the most out of his guys but he clearly knows the position knows what to look for and we know he's involved in the personnel decisions right he's saying get me that guy and I know I can turn him into something
- 51:33[SPEAKER_03]: right and that is and and being in McDermott would say absolutely man because you you've shown what you can do to us and we want more of that.
- 51:41[SPEAKER_03]: So even the lay-round pick, you know, who is on the bubble obviously, just because of the depth on this offensive line, you have to consider now, okay, who can he unseat?
- 51:51[SPEAKER_03]: And we could keep him around if we think he's more valuable, and whoever gets cut is certainly going to land on a roster, not like a practice squad, a roster around the NFL.
- 52:01[SPEAKER_03]: I'm that confident in our offensive line.
- 52:03[SPEAKER_03]: We could likely trade whoever doesn't make it to another team, the problem with that.
- 52:08[SPEAKER_03]: everybody knows it's cut down day and that the bills will have too many offensive linemen and if they're not willing to give something up we'll just sign them after you cut them right so that's always the the disappointment on cut down day with any position people are like oh we could have traded that guy we could have traded him and gotten value why do we cut him because the whole NFL knows you're going to cut him and nobody's willing to give anything up because he's going to be on the street tomorrow sign in the contract with us right right
- 52:34[SPEAKER_02]: Right, move it along.
- 52:36[SPEAKER_02]: You are in tune to Bill's Algium, A Rich, I can't reach his Anthony Romeo in the building with me.
- 52:42[SPEAKER_02]: Let's talk with Sivas.
- 52:43[SPEAKER_02]: Anthony, how much receivers make the Buffalo Bill's roster?
- 52:47[SPEAKER_03]: Ooh, that's a really good question.
- 52:50[SPEAKER_03]: If I knew that, I'd be making the bills, the three man rush.
- 52:55[SPEAKER_03]: Right now, because I mean, without a doubt as a scientist, I'll tell you the math and everything says five, right?
- 53:02[SPEAKER_03]: Five.
- 53:02[SPEAKER_03]: They don't go six.
- 53:03[SPEAKER_03]: It's five.
- 53:04[SPEAKER_03]: That's what McDermott likes to do.
- 53:06[SPEAKER_00]: He always says five, right?
- 53:07[SPEAKER_00]: Five.
- 53:08[SPEAKER_03]: If you look at the roster, it's five.
- 53:10[SPEAKER_03]: So which five do you like, right?
- 53:12[SPEAKER_03]: And this year, I think is the biggest year to make an argument for six.
- 53:16[SPEAKER_03]: And I'll say this much.
- 53:18[SPEAKER_03]: If they do do six, they do take six on the roster active.
- 53:22[SPEAKER_03]: I think that six person has to have a significant special teams contribution, right?
- 53:28[SPEAKER_03]: Is that the punt and kick returner?
- 53:30[SPEAKER_03]: Is that somebody who's going to be playing significant all snaps on special teams?
- 53:36[SPEAKER_03]: Then you can make an argument that just like cornerback last year where it was like, you know, the cornerback position was the kick returner.
- 53:46[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think, you know, we would ever play in that quarterback in a position like that, but that's his position label.
- 53:53[SPEAKER_03]: And so we kept an extra quarterback who was not a quarterback, but a kick returner.
- 53:56[SPEAKER_03]: You could do that same thing with a wide receiver.
- 54:00[SPEAKER_03]: Only that position, wide receiver, you could get play on the field.
- 54:04[SPEAKER_03]: You want to be, you know, top line, but man, if you could get ten percent of snaps out of insert six guy here, and I say that because you could make it whoever you want.
- 54:14[SPEAKER_03]: K. J. Hamler, you know, a guy who has been here for a year, gained that trust that we've talked about a time and time again, is that a, you know, the viscous channel to you bring in and you say, hey, we've got a chance.
- 54:27[SPEAKER_03]: We think you can play special themes.
- 54:29[SPEAKER_03]: We think you could be our punt returner.
- 54:31[SPEAKER_03]: So you're the sixth guy and we could put in some, you know, old trick plays that include you because you are the fastest dude, you know, out there.
- 54:39[SPEAKER_03]: One of the fastest guys.
- 54:41[SPEAKER_03]: So I,
- 54:42[SPEAKER_03]: I think there is so much intrigue over this wide receiver position and what it comes down to on draft day or on cut-down day because
- 54:52[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think the top five is set, right?
- 54:54[SPEAKER_03]: You have Coleman, you got Shakir, you sign Josh Palmer, yep, there you go, you get Curtis Samuel, the way DJ, or what's his name?
- 55:06[SPEAKER_03]: Lamele, Elijah Moore's contract is indicates that he's making the roster one way or another, but we've seen, we've seen crazier things, right?
- 55:14[SPEAKER_03]: So, and his, you know, the hype he's gotten in this preseason and,
- 55:19[SPEAKER_03]: offseason workouts and all that.
- 55:21[SPEAKER_03]: I do think those five guys, you know, it's hard to unseat one unless Elijah Moore does something that is like underwhelming and they're like, you know, what we're going to cut you in favor of one of these guys who flashes even more one of the guys I listed or Tyrell Shivers or, you know, that's six guy.
- 55:38[SPEAKER_03]: There are probably six guys who could be that six guy and that is not an understatement right now.
- 55:44[SPEAKER_03]: That's not an understatement right now because even the camp bodies that we've brought in have flesh so much that they're like damn are we gonna have to keep our eye on this get to actually make the roster right likely those are gonna be practice squad stashes right like that's ultimately where guys like that are gonna end up but
- 56:03[SPEAKER_03]: six is so intriguing to me and me I would keep six but if you're in how many I think the bills keep it's probably five just because that's what the bills do and then they do that in favor of their ten offensive linemen ten defensive linemen you know we rotate more than a lot of guys lineback or cornerback you know these numbers are set through the McDermott era usually so um it would be a surprise
- 56:25[SPEAKER_03]: If they keep six, but I would love for them to keep six, just because there's so much plashing and fun that would come with a six this year.
- 56:36[SPEAKER_02]: And I think a lot of the chips said it.
- 56:39[SPEAKER_02]: I think the five is cemented.
- 56:40[SPEAKER_02]: I think the five is a lot in terms of those guys being on the Buffalo Bill's roster.
- 56:44[SPEAKER_02]: That's six guy and I've seen some names in the chat.
- 56:47[SPEAKER_02]: I have two guys in my opinion, it could be that six guy.
- 56:50[SPEAKER_02]: Of course,
- 56:51[SPEAKER_02]: No KJ Hamas, another guy that's intriguing as well because of his return ability, but I'm thinking Tyroshavers.
- 56:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they love what, or Jill and Virgil.
- 56:59[SPEAKER_02]: You know, who brings who adds more dimensions to the roster?
- 57:04[SPEAKER_02]: I really like Tyrell Shabas.
- 57:06[SPEAKER_02]: I think he adds a size dimension.
- 57:08[SPEAKER_02]: You know, he brings another big body to the Buffalo Bills.
- 57:11[SPEAKER_02]: Why we're receiving room.
- 57:12[SPEAKER_02]: We've seen his yard after the catchability kind of last year, right?
- 57:15[SPEAKER_02]: I guess new injects taking that short pass and going to six to eight, six to the house.
- 57:21[SPEAKER_02]: So I think
- 57:22[SPEAKER_02]: He brings a physical ability and a yards after catch ability that, you know, the Buffalo bills can use.
- 57:28[SPEAKER_02]: And gentlemen, a virtual, I think is a pretty damn good route runner for being a six receiver.
- 57:34[SPEAKER_02]: And I think they really like them on special teams as a gunner.
- 57:38[SPEAKER_02]: They put them a lot out there as one at the top gunners for the Buffalo bills on special teams.
- 57:42[SPEAKER_02]: So those two guys, if the Buffalo bills were to go that route and take a six receiver, I think it will be one of those two guys in Tyroshavers in jail.
- 57:51[SPEAKER_03]: Absolutely.
- 57:51[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and I want to address the Curtis Samuel slander that I've heard all of season as well of oh, let's trade Curtis Samuel or he's like an afterthought all of a sudden last year I was most excited about Curtis Samuel playing with him right with Josh Allen because Curtis Samuel could be that guy to be connect with him and get that done and
- 58:13[SPEAKER_03]: You know, they're potential together is still high in my mind, right?
- 58:17[SPEAKER_03]: Now Curtis Samuel, we know he deals with injury issues in that sucks, but they knew that when they signed him.
- 58:22[SPEAKER_03]: And unfortunately, most of last season was that, but we saw when he was on the field and getting healthier toward the end, that's when he started to make contributions and make plays.
- 58:31[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm not talking about getting ten catches a game.
- 58:33[SPEAKER_03]: That's not going to happen for
- 58:34[SPEAKER_03]: But man, those three opportunities are three catches he makes, he makes them big plays and he makes them, you know, pay attention to him when he's on the field.
- 58:42[SPEAKER_03]: So I think Curtis Samuel to me, I'm still super, super excited for the potential that he has with Josh Allen and what he can do in this this offense.
- 58:52[SPEAKER_03]: Don't overlook Samuel is like, the guy, oh, we're going to keep Jalen Virgil in Elijah Moore.
- 58:57[SPEAKER_03]: So Curtis Samuel is going to get traded.
- 58:59[SPEAKER_03]: Plus we're paying him again, Curtis Samuel.
- 59:02[SPEAKER_03]: If you cut him, there's so much dead money there.
- 59:04[SPEAKER_03]: That's not happening.
- 59:05[SPEAKER_03]: If you trade him, that could be a possibility.
- 59:07[SPEAKER_03]: But who's going to take a guy who's owed, you know, thirty million dollars and you know, hasn't lived up to the contract he signed yet.
- 59:14[SPEAKER_03]: So I think
- 59:16[SPEAKER_03]: be aware and be excited for what we can get out of Curtis Samuel this year.
- 59:20[SPEAKER_03]: Not enough people are in and the slander of all well we can just cut him or trade him is crazy to me.
- 59:25[SPEAKER_03]: You're like, no, I want him to live up to that potential with Josh Allen, right?
- 59:30[SPEAKER_03]: Especially in the time now you brought in Josh Palmer.
- 59:33[SPEAKER_03]: But Palmer now has the game that chemistry and learn Josh Allen and and we've seen without with wide receivers in Josh Allen that that takes a few games into the regular season usually right?
- 59:44[SPEAKER_03]: You build it and so I think Curtis Samuel will hit the ground running this year if he's healthy and a guy like Josh Palmer will see him ramp up as he gets more used to the offense with Josh Allen and the plays run so I'm yeah Curtis Samuel slandered me is crazy
- 1:00:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I love Crowley, I love Crowley, I love Crowley, I'm moving on to our last topic.
- 1:00:05[SPEAKER_02]: There has been a big, big player that requested a trade.
- 1:00:13[SPEAKER_02]: I gotta talk about it.
- 1:00:14[SPEAKER_02]: Will it happen?
- 1:00:15[SPEAKER_02]: The chances probably low, but I think it's worth the discussion.
- 1:00:19[SPEAKER_02]: Micah Parsons has requested a trade from the Dallas Cowboys.
- 1:00:25[SPEAKER_02]: If you were Brandon B.
- 1:00:27[SPEAKER_02]: Would you pick up the phone and inquire about Parsons?
- 1:00:33[SPEAKER_03]: What are your thoughts?
- 1:00:35[SPEAKER_03]: How do I say this?
- 1:00:39[SPEAKER_03]: It's insane.
- 1:00:41[SPEAKER_03]: It's insane.
- 1:00:42[SPEAKER_03]: Like shut up.
- 1:00:43[SPEAKER_03]: Stop talking about this.
- 1:00:44[SPEAKER_03]: Really?
- 1:00:45[SPEAKER_03]: All the guys out there who are talking about this.
- 1:00:47[SPEAKER_03]: Every time I see it, it might feel, oh, well, the pills could entertain this.
- 1:00:52[SPEAKER_03]: Stop.
- 1:00:53[SPEAKER_03]: Stop.
- 1:00:54[SPEAKER_03]: Stop.
- 1:00:54[SPEAKER_03]: Stop.
- 1:00:54[SPEAKER_03]: First of all, Micah Parsons elite past Russia elite play.
- 1:00:59[SPEAKER_03]: Love the guy.
- 1:01:00[SPEAKER_03]: He has holes in his game.
- 1:01:02[SPEAKER_03]: He's not perfect.
- 1:01:04[SPEAKER_03]: Sometimes when he plays the overshoots the play, you know, when he was healthy last year, I was like, what is he?
- 1:01:10[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, yes, he's an elite player and damn, when he makes plays he makes plays.
- 1:01:15[SPEAKER_03]: But I don't want that guy on my team.
- 1:01:17[SPEAKER_03]: Meaning, that's super high upside with some of the, and that diva mentality of I need to make sixty million.
- 1:01:25[SPEAKER_03]: Who the hell do you think you are?
- 1:01:26[SPEAKER_03]: You know, you're not the best player in the NFL.
- 1:01:30[SPEAKER_03]: You're not Aaron Donald.
- 1:01:31[SPEAKER_03]: He's like, who the fuck is he?
- 1:01:35[SPEAKER_03]: No, you deserve that contract.
- 1:01:37[SPEAKER_03]: You were injured last year.
- 1:01:39[SPEAKER_03]: You think you're just gonna come in?
- 1:01:42[SPEAKER_02]: I think he was at least forty mil.
- 1:01:45[SPEAKER_02]: He was at least forty mil.
- 1:01:45[SPEAKER_03]: He's insane.
- 1:01:46[SPEAKER_03]: He's not going to get forty mil from anybody.
- 1:01:48[SPEAKER_03]: Let alone the Dallas Cowboys.
- 1:01:50[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think that's, I mean, not nobody who's smart, I guess, because he's injured.
- 1:01:55[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, he's elite.
- 1:01:56[SPEAKER_03]: He's elite.
- 1:01:57[SPEAKER_03]: I get it.
- 1:01:58[SPEAKER_03]: If you want a pass rush guy like that, great.
- 1:02:00[SPEAKER_03]: He doesn't fit this defense ever in my mind.
- 1:02:03[SPEAKER_03]: Like, no, I love my capacity is a great player.
- 1:02:07[SPEAKER_03]: Do not see him in this defense.
- 1:02:09[SPEAKER_03]: Micah Parsons as I don't know Anthony man.
- 1:02:14[SPEAKER_03]: Micah Parsons as a human being and the way he's handled this whole situation and guess the Dallas Cowboys are to blame.
- 1:02:20[SPEAKER_03]: They're insane for not just giving him what he has for because you drafted this guy.
- 1:02:24[SPEAKER_03]: You made this guy who he is now with his ability.
- 1:02:28[SPEAKER_03]: You need that guy.
- 1:02:30[SPEAKER_03]: You need him to be the leader on your defense and you are ready or struggling because you're paying all these other guys.
- 1:02:36[SPEAKER_03]: Just pay that guy and make it work and figure out a way.
- 1:02:39[SPEAKER_03]: to make it happen.
- 1:02:40[SPEAKER_03]: And ultimately, I think that is what happens.
- 1:02:42[SPEAKER_03]: Right?
- 1:02:43[SPEAKER_03]: Hello.
- 1:02:43[SPEAKER_03]: Wasn't there a guy in Cleveland who isn't a lead player?
- 1:02:46[SPEAKER_03]: Absolutely.
- 1:02:47[SPEAKER_03]: One of the best who said he wanted to trade.
- 1:02:49[SPEAKER_03]: And then said, oh, wait a minute.
- 1:02:51[SPEAKER_03]: I signed a big contract with the team anyway.
- 1:02:54[SPEAKER_03]: And I wanted to win and all this nonsense.
- 1:02:57[SPEAKER_03]: That works in this lead.
- 1:02:59[SPEAKER_03]: So to say that Micah Parsons wants a trade, first of all, no he doesn't.
- 1:03:03[SPEAKER_03]: He wants a contract.
- 1:03:05[SPEAKER_03]: He doesn't want a trade.
- 1:03:06[SPEAKER_03]: He doesn't want to go anywhere.
- 1:03:07[SPEAKER_03]: He just wants money.
- 1:03:08[SPEAKER_03]: That's what he wants.
- 1:03:09[SPEAKER_03]: He wants to be paid.
- 1:03:10[SPEAKER_03]: And again, he's earned his payday.
- 1:03:12[SPEAKER_03]: He's good.
- 1:03:13[SPEAKER_03]: He's great.
- 1:03:14[SPEAKER_03]: He's a lead.
- 1:03:15[SPEAKER_03]: I've said it.
- 1:03:16[SPEAKER_03]: But no, I don't want him on this team.
- 1:03:18[SPEAKER_03]: And no, being isn't going to pick up the phone because even if you wanted the damn guy, he can't get him.
- 1:03:23[SPEAKER_03]: There's no way that we could put him on this team.
- 1:03:26[SPEAKER_03]: No way.
- 1:03:27[SPEAKER_03]: You can't restructure the moon to give him what he's asking for.
- 1:03:32[SPEAKER_03]: You're going to cut somebody.
- 1:03:34[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, there's no money in the bank to give this man what he's asking for.
- 1:03:39[SPEAKER_03]: get there's no way I don't care how many salary can't be the real guys are out there you're not hitting his it was not even the entertaining the thing that we talk about again it filled up my newsfeed one day and I'm like
- 1:03:53[SPEAKER_03]: who cares that he said this again.
- 1:03:55[SPEAKER_03]: There's so many layers to it.
- 1:03:56[SPEAKER_03]: He has for a trade already irrelevant.
- 1:03:59[SPEAKER_03]: Nobody cares that he has for a trade.
- 1:04:01[SPEAKER_03]: The Cowboys don't care that he has for a trade.
- 1:04:03[SPEAKER_03]: They don't have to honor it.
- 1:04:05[SPEAKER_03]: They don't have to pay him.
- 1:04:06[SPEAKER_03]: It's that's the way the NFL works.
- 1:04:09[SPEAKER_03]: You either play what under what the contract you have under the money we're giving you and you become a free agent.
- 1:04:15[SPEAKER_03]: or you don't make any money at all this year and you sit on your butt and you hope to God that somebody pays you bank next year.
- 1:04:21[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 1:04:21[SPEAKER_03]: So those aren't good options for Mike Parsons.
- 1:04:24[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, he says I want to trade to hype it all up so that eventually Dallas gives in and pays him.
- 1:04:29[SPEAKER_03]: And ultimately, that's probably going to be what happens anyway because of what I said in the beginning.
- 1:04:33[SPEAKER_03]: They know he's really good.
- 1:04:35[SPEAKER_03]: They desperately need him.
- 1:04:36[SPEAKER_03]: If they let him walk, their team is in shambles, their defense.
- 1:04:40[SPEAKER_03]: So I mean, it's
- 1:04:41[SPEAKER_03]: I I the whole situation is just annoying more than anything and now I didn't even turn on talk radio or like.
- 1:04:49[SPEAKER_03]: ESPN or anything, because I know they're having a field day with this.
- 1:04:52[SPEAKER_03]: What teams could fit for Michael Parsons?
- 1:04:54[SPEAKER_03]: And it's like, God, if they say the bills I'm going to scream, because it's just nonsense.
- 1:04:59[SPEAKER_03]: We already got, you know, the guys that we brought in in the way they've approached this team is the way that they're going forward.
- 1:05:06[SPEAKER_03]: Michael Parsons does not fit into the equation, does not make sense for this team.
- 1:05:10[SPEAKER_03]: They're not going to entertain him next year unless he's going to take way less than forty million, you know, that to me,
- 1:05:17[SPEAKER_03]: No, that like just no, that being doesn't even make the call and being calls on everybody.
- 1:05:22[SPEAKER_03]: I was going to say normally my default answer would be of course being calls being calls on everybody.
- 1:05:28[SPEAKER_03]: Everybody to any say, oh, I checked in on that.
- 1:05:30[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yeah, I checked in on that.
- 1:05:31[SPEAKER_03]: This time, he doesn't even dial the phone because he's not he's smart enough to know that this is a ruse and he's smart enough to know that even if we could get this guy, there's no way I could make it happen.
- 1:05:41[SPEAKER_03]: So I don't think he's even making the call this time.
- 1:05:44[SPEAKER_02]: Aren't you tired of patching my home with running around in the backfield and having all the time to throw all the time to throw in the world?
- 1:05:50[SPEAKER_02]: We've had, we, you know, I, I, I, I seen the Mario and Mario attestance of the world try and, and in fact, lost in it.
- 1:05:59[SPEAKER_02]: You know, Von Miller and we tried to send and we went a little harder and revamping out the fence of line in our approach this year, but it's kind of similar to what we've been doing in the past and my only argument is
- 1:06:14[SPEAKER_02]: If you want to be Patrick Mahomes, if you want to get to Patrick Mahomes, you need a guy that has that ability to go ahead and do it.
- 1:06:22[SPEAKER_02]: Now, is it a pipe dream?
- 1:06:23[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 1:06:24[SPEAKER_02]: It's absolutely a pipe dream to get my to get to try to get my deposits.
- 1:06:28[SPEAKER_02]: But if you want to get over that hump, you want to get over to that next level in terms of
- 1:06:31[SPEAKER_02]: being patched with homes with the buffalo bills seemed a hard time and a hard time to do matching super bowl losses and losses to the Kansas City Chiefs and a main proponent to those losses is the inability to get to patch my homes.
- 1:06:46[SPEAKER_02]: I think, you know, he's in that rookie contract.
- 1:06:49[SPEAKER_02]: Of course, he's going to want his big money, but man, I would pick up the phone.
- 1:06:56[SPEAKER_02]: I would pick up the Dale phone, Jerry.
- 1:06:58[SPEAKER_02]: What's going on?
- 1:07:00[SPEAKER_00]: Let's talk about that then.
- 1:07:02[SPEAKER_00]: Now, okay, you pick up the phone.
- 1:07:03[SPEAKER_00]: What do you think the price is?
- 1:07:05[SPEAKER_03]: What do you think the price?
- 1:07:06[SPEAKER_03]: The cost of making your team better for the next three years is going to be to bring in Mike and Parsons.
- 1:07:12[SPEAKER_00]: You're talking about first round picks.
- 1:07:14[SPEAKER_03]: You're talking about current talent right now.
- 1:07:16[SPEAKER_03]: You're trading somebody to the given.
- 1:07:18[SPEAKER_03]: I'm Greg Russo.
- 1:07:19[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, no, it just doesn't make sense.
- 1:07:21[SPEAKER_03]: You're giving them two first rounders and some type of contributing player.
- 1:07:27[SPEAKER_02]: Or the last two first round picks for the Buffalo Bills.
- 1:07:31[SPEAKER_00]: What are you saying?
- 1:07:32[SPEAKER_00]: That they're not contributors?
- 1:07:33[SPEAKER_00]: No, I'm saying, I'm saying, who are they?
- 1:07:35[SPEAKER_00]: Is Maxwell Harrison and Dawson KK?
- 1:07:36[SPEAKER_00]: Do you want to try Maxwell Harrison and Dawson KK for Michael Parsons?
- 1:07:40[SPEAKER_00]: I'm, F, those pics.
- 1:07:44[SPEAKER_00]: F, those pics.
- 1:07:45[SPEAKER_00]: Go get me a superstar level guy that can get to a patch of the homes when we need to get the patch of the homes.
- 1:07:51[SPEAKER_00]: That's what you need.
- 1:07:53[SPEAKER_03]: And your team can't get better in those two years.
- 1:07:56[SPEAKER_03]: Like those guys are not, they made this team better at the positions they were drafted in.
- 1:08:03[SPEAKER_03]: Right?
- 1:08:04[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:08:04[SPEAKER_03]: So that's what I'm saying.
- 1:08:05[SPEAKER_03]: They made the room better.
- 1:08:07[SPEAKER_03]: So I mean, you're giving that up.
- 1:08:11[SPEAKER_03]: You're giving that up for the next two years.
- 1:08:13[SPEAKER_03]: You no longer have the ability to make a room better because you've gotten a lead player, which is a decision team sometimes make, but not good teams and not smart teams.
- 1:08:23[SPEAKER_03]: Right?
- 1:08:24[SPEAKER_03]: You're the all in Rams approach, which did work for one year, but and they've had an unbelievable ability to develop players and they're still a good team, but
- 1:08:32[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it's to me, I just don't, I don't like any part of it.
- 1:08:37[SPEAKER_03]: You're giving up.
- 1:08:38[SPEAKER_03]: Even if the cost was there and you're like, oh, we can pay him magically, which we can't.
- 1:08:43[SPEAKER_03]: It's, you know, again, you're giving up what graphics and some elite player, where now you're taking a negative to gain the positive.
- 1:08:49[SPEAKER_03]: So you give up Greg Russo, you give up what?
- 1:08:51[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I don't even know what else they would consider along with first round picks, obviously, to say, yeah, we'll take the AJ up and that's what they're not going to take AJ up and that's what you have to be.
- 1:09:02[SPEAKER_02]: first round picks right like yeah like no it's not it's not happening man that that's that's another that we could go on about that discussion back and forth for another half hour man this Anthony man this this has been you know this has been a great show you know this is this is why I wanted you on the show because
- 1:09:23[SPEAKER_02]: of your passion, your fiery passion, and just how you're outlook on the game, is there anything else you want to say before before we get out of here?
- 1:09:34[SPEAKER_03]: No, just that.
- 1:09:34[SPEAKER_03]: I'm always appreciative of building Buffalo for let me come on and
- 1:09:39[SPEAKER_03]: Talk with you guys and have fun.
- 1:09:40[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I love doing this.
- 1:09:41[SPEAKER_03]: I love it.
- 1:09:42[SPEAKER_03]: It's fun.
- 1:09:42[SPEAKER_03]: It's me.
- 1:09:43[SPEAKER_03]: It's genuine.
- 1:09:44[SPEAKER_03]: It's talking bills.
- 1:09:45[SPEAKER_03]: I do get excited.
- 1:09:46[SPEAKER_03]: It's just awesome to be on here with you again and to, you know, get that excitement building toward the regular season.
- 1:09:53[SPEAKER_03]: I will be at Training Camp this week on Thursday.
- 1:09:56[SPEAKER_03]: I, a friend of mine got me tickets.
- 1:09:58[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you, Matt.
- 1:09:59[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm taking my son, my son who's four and a half.
- 1:10:02[SPEAKER_03]: He's, he's really excited about the bills this year.
- 1:10:05[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm taking him to training camp his first training camp at St.
- 1:10:08[SPEAKER_03]: John Fisher, my alma mater.
- 1:10:10[SPEAKER_03]: So nice.
- 1:10:11[SPEAKER_03]: Super excited to go.
- 1:10:12[SPEAKER_03]: It's going to be a lot of fun.
- 1:10:14[SPEAKER_03]: He's excited to see Josh Allen in person.
- 1:10:16[SPEAKER_03]: He keeps saying he wants to go to the stadium.
- 1:10:18[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm probably going to have to take him to a game this year.
- 1:10:20[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I'm super super excited for that.
- 1:10:24[SPEAKER_03]: And you know, I want to, I'm going to be out there.
- 1:10:27[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to be suited up.
- 1:10:28[SPEAKER_03]: You know what?
- 1:10:28[SPEAKER_03]: I'll have to do that.
- 1:10:30[SPEAKER_03]: And training camp.
- 1:10:31[SPEAKER_03]: I will be there, you know, if anybody's going to be there, please come say hi and you know, I'll be with my son, but we're we're there to have fun and have a good time and enjoy the practice.
- 1:10:39[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, yeah, come say hi and again appreciate being on with you and talking bills and this is what it's all about for me, just having fun and and being out here with my friends and
- 1:10:49[SPEAKER_03]: being able to, you know, talk to the people.
- 1:10:51[SPEAKER_03]: So love it.
- 1:10:52[SPEAKER_03]: Love it.
- 1:10:52[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 1:10:53[SPEAKER_02]: And I appreciate you as well.
- 1:10:55[SPEAKER_02]: I appreciate you for coming on.
- 1:10:56[SPEAKER_02]: I appreciate everybody for tuning in some bills.
- 1:10:58[SPEAKER_02]: I was here today.
- 1:10:59[SPEAKER_02]: A rich, I can't reach in as Anthony Romo, uh, tuned in.
- 1:11:02[SPEAKER_02]: And this is not going to this.
- 1:11:04[SPEAKER_02]: This was the first time in a while.
- 1:11:05[SPEAKER_02]: But this is not the last time you're going to see us together are chopping it up, talking about the Buffalo bills, talking about whatever discussions need to be discussed with the bills mafia.
- 1:11:16[SPEAKER_02]: So from our came from Anthony until next time ladies and gentlemen, go bills go bills.
