- 0:01SPEAKER_00: Hello, I'm Jezz and you are listening to The Wandering Wolf Podcast.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: So, the last Sunday of September was a very beautiful day.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: The sun was up, blue sky, few clouds and 17 Celsius, like perfect for a walk along a lake.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: So I took my dog and grabbed my photo bag and we went out looking for autumn signs
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: if trees started to shift.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: I was looking for mushrooms too, but we didn't really find any.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: Okay, we found one, like a brown one, and I took photos of it.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: But more than that, nothing.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: It's like...
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: They're nowhere.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: It's like the stupid thing, you know, when you're searching for something, you can't find them.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: And when you're not searching for, they are everywhere.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: And to be honest, not many trees has shifted either.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: In this area,
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: you see where I live and with this lake,
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: the lake is not that super big and we didn't like walk around it either.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: We went to like a Pletform kind of place where you see the lake as beautiful as it can be.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: There's benches there, so we sat there for a while.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: But there is mostly like...
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: I don't know what the English word for it.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: Like Christmas trees kind of bark thing.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: No leaf.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: No leaf.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: And if there is leaf, they mostly like, I think it's called Birch, Björk in Swedish.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: And those trees only shift to yellow.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: They are boring.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: I want those orange, red kind of colors.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: They are so beautiful.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: Anyway, when I am out to photograph,
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: I have my Tamron lens,
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: 17 millimeters to 17mm,
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: 2.8mm
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: aperture and when I'm using this I mostly use in aperture mode but over time
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: when I was doing that I started to see a problem when I have it all
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: the other settings like ICO, Shutter Speed and so on are auto.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: I can't fix them.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: The only I can change is the aperture.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: And in some places, the shutter speed went so high wire, like super high.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: And when the higher the shutter speed goes, the less light gets into the camera.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: So it kind of went super dark, even if I went super bright, like with the aperture.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: So I...
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: Turned into the manual mode so I could fix both of them at the same time.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: I mostly have the ICO on iAuto.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: I think it is from the lowest, like 100 to 1600 or something.
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: So it goes between that.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: But overall, this time out with my dog was just so nice.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: I got a few pictures here and there.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: Trying to like shooting on the road.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: There is a few boats lying around too that I took photos of.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: It got really warm because of the sun, even if it's like more of the shadow path of it.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: And it felt so great after when you got in because we were out for like an hour
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: and it was roughly like three kilometers from my home around and back again.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: And it just felt really nice.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: I've been thinking to do this kind of stuff for a while and haven't felt
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: the... What can I say?
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: I want to do it, but then there is a door in a way that not lets me do it.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: So it felt really nice to do it.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: And to bonus, I do share a lot of these photos in my latest newsletters.
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: I will link that one in the description or show notes where you're listening.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: Anyway, later that day, I actually tried to photograph the moon.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: There was a full moon this weekend.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: And I failed miserably.
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: At first I have the Tamron lens and not good if you want to have a photo of the moon.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: So my dog and I went for a walk, went back home.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: I changed it to the telezoom lens that I have, like 55 to 210 millimeters.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: I could zoom in.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: Just between that we went out and get in.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: It was starting to get really dark, you know, and there was like 15 minutes gap between there.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: So we went out again, find the moon.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: I tried to find the great composition, zoom in and change all the settings.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: But like I said, it failed because I got a glowing ball.
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: The thing is,
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: when I started to fix with the settings,
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: It gets dark and I wanted to see the trees as the composition for the moon.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: And I think I did wrong there.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: Because the day after or something,
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: I actually asked ChatGPT what kind of lens I should have for this kind of stuff.
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: And gave in like one expensive and one cheap and boosted.
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: Lenses it gave, I had been looking at before.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: And I was like, no, this can't be right.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: Because I was looking for them to wildlife photograph kind of stuff.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: You can't have that for shooting on the moon, right?
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: Well, it turns out during that writing chat with the robot...
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: That if I just played around moon with the shutter speed I would have
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: a way better image of the moon with the craters and everything.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: So that sucks that I was close but at the same time so far away.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: So I will have to wait to the next full moon next month to see if I can Do
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: a photography of the moon.
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: And I hope I can actually.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: I'm looking forward to it.
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: It just sucks.
- 7:25SPEAKER_00: I should have played around more with settings.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: Same goes with the day photography.
- 7:30SPEAKER_00: Sometimes the sun is so bright and if it's shining on an object that is a bit shiny,
- 7:39SPEAKER_00: That we get a really bad overcast of whiteness and that kind of ruins the photo.
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: And yes, I do play around a lot with my settings, but I guess I'm doing it wrong.
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: Well, I am a noob in photography still, so I learn while I shoot.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: Overall,
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: this Sunday was really nice and I hope there will be more in the coming days
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: before it gets too dark and too cold.
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that was my last Sunday of September.
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: I hope you listened to it and see you some other time.
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: Bye.
