Transcript
- 0:05Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:09access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing
- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, demanded by
- 0:16celebrities CE OS and even royalty Adam Cox, these
- 0:21recordings took place live from Evans Clinic in London's world
- 0:24famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:39Hi, it's Adam here. And you're about to listen to a
- 0:43hypnosis session all about challenging a particular type of
- 0:47anxiety. And anxiety is one of those
- 0:50things that it actually becomes a barrier.
- 0:53It becomes a wall. That stops you.
- 0:55Doing certain things because if the anxiety persists.
- 0:59Most. People will avoid doing the
- 1:02thing and that might be an animal, it might be a situation.
- 1:06This particular client had a very intense fear of
- 1:09thunderstorms and that stopped them travelling to certain parts
- 1:12of the world or going out in the countryside at certain parts of
- 1:16the year. So it can become a real barrier.
- 1:20And this hypnosis session uses a metaphor of a prison because
- 1:25there were two contributing factors to this particular
- 1:27client. They had a very, very intense
- 1:30mother that made them believe and feel certain things that
- 1:34restricted choices they made in their life.
- 1:36And they had regrets about that. But also their mother used
- 1:39thunderstorms as a way to control them.
- 1:41So you're going to hear this metaphor of a prison and just
- 1:44imagine being trapped in a prison, but you have to face
- 1:49your fear in order to escape. And I want you to think of
- 1:52whatever your fear is. If you were locked inside a
- 1:56prison and you couldn't live your life the way you wanted to,
- 1:59and you had to face your fear in order to live life in the way
- 2:04that you want, could you do it? Because that's really.
- 2:06The essence of this hypnosis session.
- 2:09So if you're interested in that, have a listen.
- 2:13And I know on previous introductions to sessions, I
- 2:17talk about a free consultation call.
- 2:19If you're interested in working with me, and I don't actually do
- 2:23that anymore, I no longer offer free consultation calls.
- 2:27Ioffer paid consultation calls. But for those people that are
- 2:30curious about working with me and they want something free,
- 2:34I've actually created a webinar that explains why hypnotherapy
- 2:38is so effective at helping things when many other
- 2:41approaches like different forms of therapy aren't effective.
- 2:45So if you're interested in that and in that webinar, I also talk
- 2:49about what it's like to work with me and the kind of things
- 2:52that hypnosis is really good for.
- 2:54It also gives you 2 different hypnosis suggestibility, 30
- 2:59tests, excuse me, suggestibility tests actually in the webinar.
- 3:03So if you're curious about that, check it out.
- 3:05And for all of those people that get to the end of the webinar,
- 3:08you'll actually get access to 10 downloads completely free.
- 3:14I give you a code at the end of that webinar, so if you're
- 3:16interested, check out the comments for that.
- 3:18But for now, you might get some real value of this prison
- 3:22metaphor to face your fears. So find a quiet, comfortable
- 3:26place where you won't be distracted or disturbed.
- 3:29Relax and enjoy the session. Take a deep breath in and as you
- 3:53breathe in, breathe in that slow, long, relaxing breath.
- 4:02And as you exhale, give permission to release.
- 4:09Release any feelings of stress, worry or tension.
- 4:15Just allow it to leave your body in your exhale and breathe in a
- 4:20wonderful feeling of courage. Breathing in courage and
- 4:31exhaling any fear, any worries, any heavy emotions of the past.
- 4:42Almost like each breath takes you deeper and deeper to that
- 4:49place within where sometimes just a single decision changes
- 4:58everything. As you breathe in and breathe
- 5:03out. I want you to use the power of
- 5:08your imagination to imagine a prison and imagine that prison
- 5:20there in the landscape of Kosovo, close by to a town or a
- 5:29landmark you're familiar with. And just imagine this prison,
- 5:36His Honour, sunny day, not even a breeze.
- 5:46And I want you to imagine this prison has thick stone walls,
- 5:51the barbed wire, the big metal gates.
- 5:57This prison is impenetrable. You can't get in and you can't
- 6:04get out unless the doors are opened.
- 6:11And I want you to imagine, for some reason in this prison is
- 6:18your childhood family. And I want you to imagine being
- 6:23perhaps just eight years, nine years, 10 years old.
- 6:32And I want you to imagine that the prison is created by what
- 6:38you were told in your childhood. The prison isn't real.
- 6:45It's based on words. Who you're meant to be, what you
- 6:53should be doing, your duties, responsibilities, the beliefs,
- 7:02the prejudices all built the walls of this prison.
- 7:10And even when you moved country, the prison came with you.
- 7:16And every now and then you had a taste of life beyond the prison
- 7:23walls, relationships and friendships.
- 7:29But there was a belief that you had to return to the prison,
- 7:37that unless you did what other people wanted you to do, you
- 7:44weren't allowed to venture out by yourself.
- 7:51And I want you to imagine they're in that prison.
- 7:55There's a prison yard, a prison yard on a sunny day with blue
- 8:02skies. And just imagine relaxing,
- 8:09perhaps lying on a blanket under the sun.
- 8:13And as I countdown from 12:50, you will imagine drifting off
- 8:18into a dream within a dream, asleep within a sleep there on
- 8:24that soft blanket in the courtyard of that prison. 10
- 8:31Breathing in 9 Exhaling any tension 8 Eyelids getting
- 8:39heavier and heavier Seven Jaw getting looser 6 Just imagine
- 8:46your arms feeling limp, loose and heavy like the limbs of a
- 8:50puppet with no strings. And five your internal organs
- 8:55all relax at the same time. Your lungs relax, heart relax,
- 9:00stomachs relax, and then five goes to four.
- 9:03Your gut relaxes, all feeling a wonderful feeling of relaxation
- 9:08as four becomes three goes down into your legs and two.
- 9:13Just imagine your legs being like Jelly, no tension at all,
- 9:19and then one down to your toes, rippling up to the top of your
- 9:23head and down to your fingertips.
- 9:26Just feel pure relaxation. I want you to imagine time goes
- 9:33on in your imagination. I want you to imagine that a
- 9:41minute is almost like a year. Maybe you go from 8 years to 9
- 9:50years, nine years to 10 years. And I want you to think of all
- 9:58of those wonderful things outside of the prison walls you
- 10:04don't get to do. You don't pursue the career
- 10:09opportunities that you want beyond the prison walls.
- 10:15You don't choose the relationship, the life partner
- 10:20you want because that's on the other side of the prison walls,
- 10:27the family you want, The experience is the travel.
- 10:32It's all beyond the prison walls.
- 10:38And feel yourself getting older hearing all of these words that
- 10:43make the prison walls real. Being told you're a
- 10:49disappointment, being compared unfavourably to other people.
- 10:59You do certain things, you're criticized for it.
- 11:03You start having your own ideas. You're humiliated for it.
- 11:09That's what keeps the walls real.
- 11:14And you are told that beyond the walls is a scary storm.
- 11:20And not just a storm, the anger, the actions of a God.
- 11:28But if you disappoint the God, you could bring harm to yourself
- 11:32or to others. And this child starts to believe
- 11:36that. And this child starts to think
- 11:42maybe it's not even worth thinking about life outside the
- 11:45prison walls. They just have to get used to
- 11:49things as it is. And there are people who spend
- 11:54too long in a jail and they become institutionalized.
- 12:00They get used to that poor quality food, lights being off
- 12:06at a certain time, the violence, the abuse, and they treat it
- 12:13like normal. But that's not you.
- 12:18You know this isn't normal, and there is a longing for a real
- 12:25life beyond the prison walls where you decide which city you
- 12:32live in. You decide your friends, you
- 12:35decide your partner. Those big life decisions.
- 12:39You don't need permission. You make your own decisions,
- 12:46good and bad. Good decisions improve your life
- 12:51and bad decisions make you wiser, but they're your
- 12:54decisions and feel the time going on.
- 13:00You're getting older in that prison, and I want you to think
- 13:05of all the opportunities you've missed out on.
- 13:11The family that you could have had but didn't, that
- 13:18relationship that could have flourished, but you'll never
- 13:22know. The business you could have
- 13:25created. You never tried, not because you
- 13:30weren't capable, but because you believed the walls of the prison
- 13:35were real. You acted as if they were true.
- 13:41You were brainwashed to believe it didn't even make sense, to
- 13:46think of life beyond the walls, and when a storm would come, you
- 13:54were told this was your doing. You caused this.
- 14:01God is angry at you and you believed it until you didn't.
- 14:08And you believed it because the emotions were real, even if the
- 14:12logic behind it was false. I want you to imagine as time
- 14:19goes on, you spent your teenage years there in the prison.
- 14:26You spent your 20s there in the prison.
- 14:31You spent your 30s there in the prison.
- 14:37All those things you couldn't do beyond the prison walls.
- 14:42And what made it worse is you got a taste of what was
- 14:45possible, never really believing that it was doors of opportunity
- 14:53opened and you allowed them to close because you didn't feel
- 14:59that it was even a real possibility for Someone Like
- 15:03You. And if there's a part within, a
- 15:10part within that says enough is enough.
- 15:15If I've spent all of this time in the prison, I don't want to
- 15:21spend any more time here. Let me know about nodding your
- 15:23head. But let's just say there is only
- 15:31one way to escape the prison. You have to face a fear.
- 15:39If you face the fear, you win your freedom, and if you don't
- 15:46face the fear, you remain. But the good news is, is that
- 15:52you can have as many attempts as you want.
- 15:56You can try 2345 a hundred times if you desire, and you only have
- 16:03to face the fear once to be free.
- 16:09And I want you to imagine what makes the metal doors open or
- 16:16the big brick walls come crumbling down is to face a
- 16:22storm. And not just any storm, the
- 16:27biggest, most intense, windiest storm you've ever seen.
- 16:38But you win your freedom the moment you face it, and facing
- 16:43it means being outside, feeling the rain on your skin, the wind
- 16:53blowing against your body, and showing courage and defiance.
- 17:02That's what frees you from this prison.
- 17:07And I want you to imagine within the prison, you start looking
- 17:14for clues. Maybe you're on applications
- 17:20that show the upcoming weather forecast.
- 17:24Maybe you start looking in newspapers for what the weather
- 17:28looks like, or weather reports on the TV.
- 17:34Maybe you look for clues in the sky, dark clouds, increased
- 17:39winds and you know that change of pressure in the air when a
- 17:46storm is on its way. And in the past that would have
- 17:52caused some anxiety. But given that now you face one
- 17:58storm and you win your freedom, it has a different connotation.
- 18:03Now you are hoping that there is a storm coming.
- 18:11You want there to be a storm. You want the wind to start
- 18:17picking up to sway the trees. You want to see that dust
- 18:25accumulate there in the atmosphere.
- 18:29You want to feel that change in pressure, that humidity.
- 18:35You want to see those dark clouds and if your unconscious
- 18:41feels ready to face the nemesis, to set you free, that even if
- 18:52there's anxiety, it will not deter you.
- 18:57Some people believe that everything you ever desire is on
- 19:02the other side of fear. And I want you to think of your
- 19:07future now. The career you get to build, the
- 19:14family you get to build, the future memories you haven't had
- 19:19yet, wonderful experiences. A responsibility to yourself
- 19:28first and foremost, because everything, every major decision
- 19:39is related to the possible benefits.
- 19:45And I want you to connect the idea that when you face this
- 19:47fear, a world of opportunity opens up for you.
- 19:54Opportunities you thought you missed then become available
- 19:59again. Trains that you thought you
- 20:03missed start being scheduled again.
- 20:09Doors that were closed start to open again.
- 20:14And if you're ready to face this storm, let me know by nodding
- 20:17your head. Locate the courage within you.
- 20:36It's there. Isn't it better to face
- 20:43something once then run from it forever?
- 20:49And when you're ready to face it, let me know by nodding your
- 20:53head. That's in.
- 20:58And I want you to imagine, imagine that large courtyard in
- 21:04the prison. And I want you to imagine,
- 21:11imagine there is a large platform that elevates you
- 21:19higher, exposes you to the wind and the rain.
- 21:24And I want you to imagine maybe you're wearing a coat, but there
- 21:31is no umbrella. You're there facing it.
- 21:38And when the wind picks up, you smile.
- 21:40And when it starts to rain, you feel defiant.
- 21:48You call this a storm? This isn't a storm.
- 21:55I've experienced real storms. This is no storm.
- 21:59And feel it get windier, feel the white rain get harder, maybe
- 22:06hailstones. Or imagine seeing lightning
- 22:11there in the distance and hearing big, heavy Thunder.
- 22:18And I want you to imagine, but for every minute it feels like a
- 22:23year. Imagine this storm is a year
- 22:27long storm. And I want you to feel defiant,
- 22:34courageous, immovable. And the harder and more intense
- 22:42the storm gets, the closer you are to freedom.
- 22:48You will not be deterred. You will not back down.
- 22:55And I want you to imagine feeling tested, the storm gets
- 22:59even more intense. The rain's so intense you can't
- 23:04even see your own hand. The wind's so strong it's almost
- 23:10blowing you off that platform. And yet you remain strong.
- 23:17You refuse to back down. You face it.
- 23:24And when you can feel undeterred there in the face of the storm,
- 23:34you know how close to freedom you are.
- 23:36And when you feel that, let me know by nodding your head.
- 23:41That's it. And then you notice the wind
- 23:49starts to calm. The rain starts to get less
- 23:56intense, until eventually you see the first ray of sunshine.
- 24:06No more Thunder, no more lightning, just clouds.
- 24:10But then the clouds turn to blue skies and you might be wet and
- 24:15cold, but you feel victorious. You have faced your fear and got
- 24:23through it. And I want you to see the faces
- 24:28of all of those people that hoped, hoped you would back
- 24:32down. Maybe a parent, an uncle, a
- 24:39sibling. And you proved them wrong.
- 24:44You proved them. You can do it.
- 24:50And then imagine. Imagine seeing the walls come
- 24:54crumbling down of that prison and the big metal gate start to
- 24:59open. And now you have a choice.
- 25:05You could choose to remain in the rubble of the prison, or you
- 25:11can choose to live your life beyond it, and that life isn't
- 25:18certain. That life will have ups and
- 25:22downs, but it's your life, your decisions.
- 25:29And in that future, every time there's a storm, you'll smile
- 25:37because a storm used to keep you imprisoned.
- 25:43But from that point on, it will remind you just how free you
- 25:47are. Every storm represents freedom.
- 25:55And don't be surprised a few years from now when there's a
- 26:02big storm of Thunder and lightning, you choose to walk
- 26:08outside, to feel the rain on your skin, to hear the Thunder
- 26:14and see the lightning. You choose to do that to remind
- 26:19yourself of your freedom, to show the people around you that
- 26:25are looking up to you. There's nothing to be scared of
- 26:29here. It's just nature.
- 26:34And I want you to imagine that you could look back and feel
- 26:39regretful and resentful for all that time wasted in the prison,
- 26:48but instead, wouldn't you rather just live your life outside of
- 26:54it? There are some people that when
- 26:59they finally get released from a prison, they start living life
- 27:05as if they're still in it. Rigid routines, limited choices.
- 27:12That's not freedom. That's just replacing one prison
- 27:16for another. If the past is your prison, you
- 27:22can choose not to live there. You can choose to live in the
- 27:26present and your future. You can choose to feel that your
- 27:34past has made you more courageous, more defiant, more
- 27:37resilient. What if your past didn't break
- 27:41you, but make you? What if you are stronger because
- 27:47of your past, not weaker? What if you will take life as
- 27:53the wonderful opportunity it is now that you're totally free to
- 27:59fully live it? So imagine life beyond the
- 28:03prison walls, knowing that there are people, perhaps people that
- 28:09you love, choosing to still live in those same limitations.
- 28:16But that does not have to be you.
- 28:18And if you feel that you're willing to face the storm in
- 28:24reality to fully win your freedom of your future, let me
- 28:29know by nodding your head. That's in.
- 28:33And the next time you see a weather report of an upcoming
- 28:37storm, you will feel it's an opportunity.
- 28:44And when you face that fear, even just once, any remaining
- 28:49limitations and fears, those walls will also start crumbling
- 28:56down. And as you hold that thought,
- 28:59it's time to return. So take a deep breath in through
- 29:04your nose and out through your nose.
- 29:10Just wiggle your fingers and wiggle your toes.
- 29:13Connect and calibrate into the here and the now.
- 29:18So I now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you Starting to
- 29:25count 123 waking up 456 more alert 7-8 open your eyes.
