- 0:03This is Living Waters of Grace, the teaching ministry of Clark
- 0:08Wofford, senior pastor of Calvary Chapel of Westmoreland,
- 0:12County of Greensburg, PA. Now here's Pastor Clark as he
- 0:16continues teaching through God's Word.
- 0:37What can make me whole again? Nothing but the blood.
- 0:43Of Jesus and. If we're not proclaiming this
- 0:47message as Paul and Peter and Steven.
- 0:50And every other. Person has been called,
- 0:55commissioned by God to proclaim the gospel.
- 0:58Might as well shut the church down and no longer show up,
- 1:03because there is no good news apart from this message of
- 1:08Christ. Oh that lovely old hymn, Nothing
- 1:12but the blood of Jesus. These words are rich with
- 1:15doctrine and theology. Truly, there is nothing that has
- 1:18provided our cleansing and our guarantee and the payment for
- 1:23our sins. Save the shed blood of Jesus
- 1:26Christ on the cross of Calvary and we would be hopeless without
- 1:31it. Today you'll learn from Pastor
- 1:33Clark that the blood of Jesus is the lifeline of the church.
- 1:38Once you've accepted the free gift of salvation, you can now
- 1:41begin to step into the calling that God has placed on your
- 1:44life. Now here's Pastor Clark in the
- 1:47book of Acts chapter 13 with today's edition of Living Waters
- 1:51of Grace verse 25. And as John was finishing his
- 1:55course, he said, who do you think I am?
- 1:57I am not he. Well, everybody thought John,
- 1:59man, he's something else. He's out there in the
- 2:01wilderness. He's not connected.
- 2:02To this world, really, he's like a hermit.
- 2:05He's just like, very, very different and very.
- 2:08Godly and very fiery. In his eyes and just.
- 2:11The passion he had for God and nothing else, they might have
- 2:14thought. He was the one.
- 2:16Well, this guy, he's, he's different.
- 2:18I mean, he's really challenging me and my heart's convicted
- 2:21because of what he's saying, he says.
- 2:22I am not he, but behold, there comes one after me, the sandals
- 2:27of whose feet I am not worthy to loose.
- 2:30So you see humility in John. He didn't think he was anything.
- 2:34He was just a voice in the wilderness, as the Bible says,
- 2:38just like I'm a voice here today in the wilderness that we live
- 2:41in today in this world. Men and Brethren, Verse 26.
- 2:45Paul says Sons of the family of Abraham.
- 2:48Abraham. Isaac, Jacob, The Lineage.
- 2:50Of the nation of. Israel through the Patriarchs.
- 2:53He's speaking to them and those among you who fear God.
- 2:58The gentiles who are sitting in the synagogue.
- 3:01Seeking the truth to you. The word of salvation has been
- 3:07sent, so the word of salvation is why this is all happening.
- 3:13The word of. Salvation is why.
- 3:15We have a church and a radio. Station and we're.
- 3:18All witnesses, wherever we. Are and we pray and we intercede
- 3:21for people who need Jesus Christ, and our hearts are
- 3:24burdened for lost people every day.
- 3:29It should be if we belong to the Lord.
- 3:31We're seeking ways that we can reach people for those.
- 3:35Who dwell in Jerusalem? And their rulers, because they
- 3:38did not know Him, and they're referring to Messiah.
- 3:41There are even the voices of the prophets, which are read every
- 3:44Sabbath, having fulfilled them and condemning Him.
- 3:46So every Saturday they're going through this process.
- 3:51Of reading the. Torah and the Law and the
- 3:54prophets, and it's like the blind leading the blind, because
- 3:58everything's pointing to what? Jesus Christ did it.
- 4:01Pointed to John the Baptist being the forerunner, the
- 4:04prophet who is preparing the way of the Lord.
- 4:06Right? All this stuff is should be
- 4:08self. Evident to these people, right?
- 4:10And yet they did. Exactly what the scripture said
- 4:13they would do. They would reject him and they
- 4:15would have him martyred and crucified, and they would try to
- 4:19keep this message under wraps so no one would.
- 4:22Believe it. And though they found no cause
- 4:26for death, verse 28 in him, they asked Pilate that he should put,
- 4:31he should be put to death. Now when they had fulfilled all
- 4:34that was written concerning him, they took him down from the tree
- 4:37and laid him in a tomb. So everything's fulfilled.
- 4:40He's reviewing the history. We all know it.
- 4:42We've studied it, we're aware of it, we believe it, but God verse
- 4:4630 raised him from the dead. So if God didn't raise Christ
- 4:50from the dead like the prophecies?
- 4:52In the Old Testament, you know referred to, and if you look at
- 4:57your cross references, if you have a cross reference Bible, a
- 5:00lot of things I'm talking about, all the Old Testament quotes are
- 5:03tied into Isaiah 55, three or Psalm 1610 or Psalm 2 verse 7.
- 5:09All these are prophetical fulfillments of what Christ had
- 5:14done. God the Father, God the Son, God
- 5:19the Holy Spirit. Long before.
- 5:21We were created long. Before creation had ever
- 5:24developed, was the. Plan of the Ages.
- 5:27That when this. World would be created.
- 5:29God knew that man would fall. And turn from him.
- 5:32And he? Already had a remedy where he
- 5:34said in. Revelation.
- 5:35He was a lamb slain before the foundation of the earth.
- 5:39For God's vantage point is past. Present future he sees.
- 5:43Everything at one time and in the fullness of time, God sent
- 5:49Jesus for us. To be the Savior of the world.
- 5:54So they laid him in the tomb, but that is not the end of it.
- 5:56Verse 30 But God raised him from the dead.
- 5:59God brought him up from the dead as the literal translation from
- 6:03the Greek, that this was a work of the sovereign God, who had
- 6:08planned to do this for all eternity.
- 6:11Verse 31. He was seen after that for many
- 6:14days by those who came up with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem,
- 6:17who are His witnesses to the people.
- 6:20So all these. People were connected, they
- 6:21knew, OK, a lot of you know, they're witnesses now.
- 6:25Paul had the encounter on the road to Damascus and Barnabas.
- 6:29You know, all these people have become believers because of this
- 6:32historical event in history of. Of the church and.
- 6:36Christianity so they see him, and then they say in verse 32,
- 6:41And we declare to you glad tidings, good news, that promise
- 6:45which was made to the fathers. God has fulfilled this for us,
- 6:49their children, and that He has raised up Jesus.
- 6:51It is also written in the second Psalm, You are my son the day I
- 6:55have begotten you, and that he raised him up from the dead, no
- 6:59more to return to corruption. He has spoken thus.
- 7:02I will give you the Shure mercies of David.
- 7:04Verse 35. Therefore, he also says in
- 7:06another Psalm, You shall not allow your Holy One to see
- 7:10corruption when the when the body goes into the.
- 7:11Grave we we corrupt. We decompose, you can dig.
- 7:14Someone up, you know. So many months or years later,
- 7:18it's it's. Bones it's there's nothing left
- 7:20OK, Christ, when he died, there was no.
- 7:23Corruption. Nothing affected his body.
- 7:25When he was putting that tomb, he he didn't go into.
- 7:27That process of corruption and when he was resurrected, his
- 7:31body was perfect because he's he's eternal.
- 7:36He died physically. But you can't kill God, can you?
- 7:41He, He's eternal. And so David, verse 36, it says,
- 7:46for David, after he had served his own generation, by the will
- 7:48of God, he fell asleep, was buried with his Father's.
- 7:51He saw corruption. So the prophecy was about the
- 7:54one who wouldn't see corruption, which was our Lord and Savior
- 7:57Jesus Christ. So verse 37 it says, but he whom
- 8:00God raised up saw no corruption. Therefore, let it be known to
- 8:05you, brethren, that through this man, the man Jesus Christ is
- 8:09preached you the forgiveness of sins, and by him everyone who
- 8:14believes is justified from all things from which you could not
- 8:18be justified by the law of. Moses, so he's talking to these
- 8:22Jewish. People that think by following.
- 8:25The 10 commandments the. Law, doing the rituals, all that
- 8:28that. Somehow God grades on a curve
- 8:31and they may get in. That's their hope.
- 8:34Or they're. Deceived thinking because of
- 8:35that, they can stand before God in the judgement day and say,
- 8:38well, I should come in because I you know, a kosher.
- 8:41I was at the Sabbath in the synagogue.
- 8:44Every Saturday I did this. I did.
- 8:47I mean all that stuff and it can't save anybody.
- 8:51So I think what happens, people come to church, they think all
- 8:54these people are holy rollers or whatever and they're perfect.
- 8:57I'm not. Excuse me, I'm not.
- 8:58So I can't be like these people because.
- 9:01I'm I'm sinful. I got this stuff in me that.
- 9:04You know won't go away. I try and I try to beat it and
- 9:07conquer it, but I keep falling back into it.
- 9:09I keep being drawn into it. That is why we need salvation,
- 9:13because God delivers us from the power of sin that controls us
- 9:18until Christ saves us. Once Christ saves us, a big
- 9:22change happens. I don't have to sin anymore
- 9:26because I'm controlled by the influence of Satan and lost.
- 9:30I have an opportunity. I'll say, Lord, help me not do
- 9:32this. Help me to make a better
- 9:35decision. Or if I fall, Lord, I get it, I
- 9:38don't want to. That's my old life I don't want.
- 9:40To live that. Way anymore.
- 9:42And and the Christian life after we get saved is a process of
- 9:45being perfected. We're not perfected yet.
- 9:47We're in the process of being conformed to the image of.
- 9:50Christ, right, as it tells us in Romans 829.
- 9:54So everything that happens, adversities, trials, difficulty,
- 9:57heartache, whatever disasters, crises, disease, sickness,
- 10:00financial ruin, whatever happens to us in this life as Christians
- 10:06is designed to make us press deeper into the Lord, which it
- 10:10does. That's the problem, right?
- 10:13The power of sin destroys us and that's that's why we need to
- 10:18tell people the good news. And then people talk.
- 10:20To me and say, well this is what I did and this is what happened
- 10:24to me and. And I can't, you know, and we
- 10:26have to keep telling them it's not about what you've.
- 10:29Done. It's about what he's done for
- 10:31you and that's. The beauty of the gospel.
- 10:34And so as we think about this now, it's really important
- 10:39because whenever. You get saved.
- 10:42Christ declares you righteous now what's that mean?
- 10:47He. Declares you righteous.
- 10:49He says that Jesus takes your sin.
- 10:53Your unrighteousness. And puts it on.
- 10:54Him on the cross. He's not unrighteous, but he.
- 10:58Chooses to take. All of our sin, the whole earth.
- 11:01Everybody in the world upon himself, and then what he does
- 11:05he imputes or credits. To your account He gives you his
- 11:09righteousness. So we sit here.
- 11:11Well, what does all that mean? This means this is what it
- 11:14means. God chooses to look at you as
- 11:16being perfect. Now.
- 11:18Now how can that happen? Because we know we're not
- 11:21perfect. But that's the beauty of this
- 11:23message of the gospel. It's that's what's exciting
- 11:25about it that only he can declare someone as being just
- 11:30and righteous and perfect. Even though we still are
- 11:33sinners, our position in God's eyes and eternity is that he
- 11:39forgives us as though. We've never, ever sinned.
- 11:42Our past sins are forgiven. The present sins are forgiven,
- 11:46and the future sins that will still commit are forgiven.
- 11:50That's incredible, isn't it? There's no one else that could
- 11:54do something like this for us. And, and we don't get into this
- 11:58this deep every week because we're going through the whole
- 12:02Bible. But when it touches on these
- 12:04important things, we have to understand.
- 12:07Romans 5 says therefore having been justified by faith.
- 12:11We believe these things. By faith it says.
- 12:15Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God
- 12:18through our Lord Jesus Christ. So we have this peace now
- 12:22because what God? Has done for us.
- 12:25Through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in
- 12:29which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of.
- 12:32God, so we have this salvation now and we have this peace.
- 12:39No matter what's happening, we have this peace that if this is
- 12:42my last day on earth and I go to be with the Lord, I'm not going
- 12:46to be gilded by God, am I? And you won't be either.
- 12:49He's going to embrace us and welcome.
- 12:51Us home because he's forgiven us and justified us.
- 12:55And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing
- 12:58that tribulation produces perseverance and perseverance,
- 13:02character and character. Hope.
- 13:04Now hope does not disappoint because the love of God has been
- 13:06poured in, out into our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given
- 13:09to us. This, this is all the the
- 13:13benefit, you know. You go through tough times, you
- 13:16go through whatever and you have.
- 13:18This peace and you have this assurance that no matter what.
- 13:22Anybody says about you or thinks about you or slanders you or
- 13:25criticizes you in life. It really doesn't matter.
- 13:28Because what God says. To you.
- 13:31Is that you're perfect in Christ.
- 13:34Now try telling an enemy that how would.
- 13:38That go well you did this you did that hey yeah, I know please
- 13:41forgive me but I'm perfect in. Christ, man, are you crazy?
- 13:45You are far from. Perfect, I agree, but in Christ.
- 13:48I'm declared. Perfect, we all are.
- 13:51I mean, that should make you want to dance, right?
- 13:54And some. People do dance when they hear
- 13:56this. David understood it and he did
- 13:59some dancing. And then Romans 3, chapter 3,
- 14:03verse 21, well it says in verse 19.
- 14:07Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who
- 14:11are under the law that every mouth may be stopped.
- 14:13So in other words, you want to get saved by following the law.
- 14:16You got to do it perfectly. And if you say you can't, then
- 14:19obviously your mouth is stopped and all the world may become
- 14:22guilty before God. Understanding we can't be saved
- 14:26apart from the finished work of Jesus Christ.
- 14:29Therefore verse 20 by the deeds of the law, trying your flesh or
- 14:33your human effort, no deeds. Therefore by the deeds of the
- 14:38law, no flesh will be justified in his sight.
- 14:41Even if you got to 99% of perfection, you couldn't get
- 14:44saved without Christ for by the laws and knowledge of sin.
- 14:47So the commandments and everything that the that guilts
- 14:51us is showing us. That we can't.
- 14:54Do this without Christ. By now the righteousness of God,
- 14:58apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the law and
- 15:01the prophets. They're reading the law and the
- 15:03prophets. The law and the prophets are
- 15:05proclaiming this. They still don't get it.
- 15:07Even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ to
- 15:10all and on all who believe, for there is no difference.
- 15:14For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.
- 15:16That's everyone in this room, everyone in the world being
- 15:19justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is
- 15:24in Christ Jesus. So we're saved by grace.
- 15:28We're justified by grace. Justified means just as though
- 15:31we've never sinned. God declares us that way because
- 15:34of what Christ has done, whom God set forth as a propitiation,
- 15:38which is a word for sacrifice. Christ sacrificed.
- 15:41Himself for you. So that you could receive.
- 15:44All the blessings of the God of all heaven.
- 15:49And he just, he, he sacrificed himself, it says, by his blood,
- 15:53through faith to demonstrate his righteousness.
- 15:55Because of his forbearance, God has passed over the sins that
- 15:59were previously committed because of the.
- 16:01Blood of Jesus, he's passed over them 100%.
- 16:06The devil will tell you and remind you and all this stuff
- 16:09that went wrong that you didn't do right.
- 16:11Don't listen, the blood is covered at all.
- 16:17That's why we take the. Lord's Supper every week to be
- 16:19reminded of the power of the blood.
- 16:23What can make me whole again? Nothing but the blood.
- 16:29Of Jesus and. If we're not proclaiming this
- 16:33message as Paul. And Peter and Stephen and every
- 16:37other. Person has been called,
- 16:41commissioned by God to proclaim the gospel.
- 16:44Might as well shut the church down.
- 16:46And no. Longer show up because there is
- 16:49no good news apart from this message of Christ.
- 16:55We're free by His grace, the redemption.
- 16:58It is in Christ Jesus through the blood and not right now.
- 17:04God demonstrates this in his present time, His righteousness,
- 17:08that He might be just in the justifier of the one who has
- 17:12faith in Jesus. I pray as a worship team comes
- 17:17forward today, if you're here, you've never understood this
- 17:20gospel. You've never put your faith in
- 17:22this Savior who can do it perfect for you and that you
- 17:27don't. Put pressure on yourself.
- 17:28Anymore thinking you got to be something you can't be.
- 17:31Without God's grace, come to faith in Jesus today.
- 17:36Believe what it is that Jesus Christ has done for you and what
- 17:40He's done for me. And we have this privilege,
- 17:44brothers and sisters, to be able to tell people this good news
- 17:49that people can be reconciled to God.
- 17:53It ends in 2nd Corinthians 5. Now we are ambassadors for
- 17:57Christ you. Represent Jesus Christ wherever.
- 17:59You go. You.
- 18:00Can be assured when you go and tell someone the gospel that God
- 18:04has sent you. As an ambassador representing
- 18:07him to tell people, as Paul said, through God, that we're
- 18:12pleading with people, imploring them on Christ's behalf to be
- 18:16made right with God, to be reconciled to God.
- 18:19For he made him, Jesus, who knew no sin, to be sin for us, that
- 18:23we might become the righteousness.
- 18:26Of God and him so. How do people see you and me?
- 18:31And how does God? Choose to see us in Jesus
- 18:34Christ. We really need to focus on that
- 18:37There's. People that don't.
- 18:39Like you for whatever. Reason.
- 18:41Enemies from the past or whatever, you've gone through
- 18:43things in life and. It can really get you upset
- 18:47because you don't feel it's fair at.
- 18:48Times or whatever but. We have to look beyond that
- 18:51because we have to. Say, well, what's the big
- 18:53picture in all this is that God sees me as perfect.
- 18:57I I couldn't do one more thing in my life, nor could you to
- 19:00make God love me anymore than he loves me right now.
- 19:03That's that's incredible. I mean, people expect you to do
- 19:08things. In order to prove that.
- 19:10You know, whatever you've changed or whatever, but God
- 19:15never looks at us that. Way he doesn't Guild.
- 19:18Us and I pray as Pastor Lewis, but I never want anybody to be
- 19:22gilded in this church. Get enough of that in the world
- 19:25all week, right? You don't need to come here on
- 19:28Sunday and get that all over again.
- 19:30Why? Why go to church if that's what
- 19:32what's happening? We want to be free in church and
- 19:37reminded of the. Promises of God.
- 19:39And maybe you've done something. You think, Well, God.
- 19:41Isn't around anymore. He's mad at me.
- 19:43He promises he will never leave you or forsake you.
- 19:46He'll never, ever leave you. God will never leave us.
- 19:50There's no one like that. We've all left Jesus like the
- 19:53apostles and all the people at the cross.
- 19:56He always loves us. No matter what, the prisoner on
- 20:01death row, who's committed the most heinous crime that has
- 20:04come. To face in Jesus.
- 20:06Christ he loves as much as someone who never ever committed
- 20:11anything like that. He doesn't focus on our feelings
- 20:15and our stumblings. He lifts us up to keep getting
- 20:20up every day, starting a new day with the Holy Spirit to become
- 20:25more like Jesus. Don't look about yesterday and
- 20:28what happened or what didn't work or what you wish you hadn't
- 20:32gone through. Look fresh today that it's a new
- 20:35day, a new beginning. And the Lord just says.
- 20:38Come on, get up again. I've forgiven you.
- 20:42Let's just keep on going. He never says that you can't be
- 20:46forgiven anymore and he always. Says this when you ask him for
- 20:50forgiveness. It's OK, I forgive you, doesn't
- 20:53he? He never says you went past 70 *
- 20:577 four 190. That's it.
- 21:00That meant. There's no limit to forgiveness.
- 21:03When Peter. Asked him how often should I
- 21:05forgive this person for the same?
- 21:06Sin he says 70 * 7. Meaning you never.
- 21:10Stop forgiving and so. This is the biggest issue in
- 21:14Christianity, the lack of forgiveness.
- 21:17And when there's lack of forgiveness, then again
- 21:20everything falls apart because we have nothing to tell people.
- 21:24If we're unforgiving, how can we even begin If we're unforgiving
- 21:30towards someone who's. A believer who loves the Lord
- 21:33and has made some mistakes. How can we as.
- 21:36Christians and go. To some person in the street
- 21:39who's like all over the. Place and sin.
- 21:41And begin to tell them about. God who loves them.
- 21:45When we can't even love. Anybody right and.
- 21:49I got to read this as we prepare our hearts for the supper.
- 21:53The parable. The unforgiving servant Peter
- 21:56came to him and said, Lord, how often shall my brother sin
- 21:59against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times.
- 22:02Jesus said, I do not say to you up to seven times, but up to 70
- 22:05* 7. Therefore the Kingdom of heaven
- 22:07is like a certain king who wanted to settle accounts with
- 22:10his servants, and when he had begun to settle the accounts,
- 22:13one was brought to him who owed him 10,000 talents.
- 22:16But as he was not able to pay, his master commanded that he be
- 22:19sold with his wife and children, and all that he had, and payment
- 22:22be made. The servant therefore fell down
- 22:25before him, saying, Master, have patience with me, I will pay you
- 22:28all. Then the master of that servant
- 22:30was move with compassion, released him and forgave him the
- 22:33debt. That's what God does to us.
- 22:36But that servant then goes out and finds one of his fellow
- 22:39servants who owed him 100 an hour I, which was nothing
- 22:42compared to what the other guy owed.
- 22:44And he laid hands on him, took him by the throat, saying, Pay
- 22:47me what you owe. His fellow servant fell down at
- 22:50his feet and begged him, saying, Have patience with me, and I
- 22:52will pay you all. And he would not, but went and
- 22:55threw him into prison till he should pay the debt.
- 22:58So when his fellow servant saw what he had done, they were very
- 23:01grieved, and they came, and they told the master all that had
- 23:04been done. The master, after he had called
- 23:06him, said to him, You wicked servant, I forgave you all that
- 23:09debt because you begged me. Should you not also have
- 23:13compassion on your fellow servant?
- 23:14Just as I had pity on you, and his master was angry and
- 23:18delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was
- 23:20due him, so my heavenly Father also will do to you, if each of
- 23:26you from his heart does not forgive his brother his
- 23:30trespasses. Ephesians 432.
- 23:35Be kind, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as
- 23:42God, for Christ's sake, hath forgiven you.
- 23:46How in the world, brothers and sisters, can we hold anything
- 23:50against anyone when we realize that Christ has forgiven us of
- 23:54Amen? We're so glad you joined us
- 23:58today on this edition of Living Waters of Grace.
- 24:01Pastor Clark is teaching through the Book of Acts, which is the
- 24:04only book that chronicles the history of the early church
- 24:08immediately after Jesus's ascension.
- 24:11It gives us a front row seat to how the Gospel began to move
- 24:15outward, starting in Jerusalem and reaching into the heart of
- 24:18the Roman Empire. In just three decades, a small
- 24:22group of frightened ordinary believers became a bold, spirit
- 24:26empowered movement that transformed the known world.
- 24:30Acts is not just a history lesson, it's a reminder of what
- 24:33God can do when His people are surrendered, obedient, and
- 24:37filled with the Holy Spirit. Their perseverance still
- 24:41inspires us today. May we follow their example and
- 24:46live faithfully for Christ in our own time.
- 24:49We hope today's message encouraged you.
