- 0:00Speaker 1: So Mark Simon Show now nine till noon weekdays on
- 0:05Speaker 1: seven to ten WR A lot to get to this.
- 0:13Speaker 1: It's Wednesday, and it's gonna be beautiful day to day.
- 0:15Speaker 1: It's gonna be just bright sunshine, low humidity. Take advantage
- 0:19Speaker 1: of it because it's going to rain tomorrow. It's gonna
- 0:22Speaker 1: be maybe one of the nicest days of the summer
- 0:25Speaker 1: this week. Remember those Canadian wildfires, all that smoke. Remember
- 0:29Speaker 1: that was a three days where you couldn't breathe, it
- 0:31Speaker 1: couldn't go out. It was just a It happened a
- 0:33Speaker 1: couple times this year, ruining everything for New York and
- 0:37Speaker 1: the Northeast, that Canadian wildfire smoke. So the President going
- 0:43Speaker 1: after Canada for it and putting a tariff, a fifty
- 0:46Speaker 1: percent tariff on Canadian goods. They deserve that, they should
- 0:50Speaker 1: reimburse us. We want reparations for that wildfire smoke. But
- 0:56Speaker 1: he's just announced he'll put that on hold. He's paused
- 0:59Speaker 1: that terror for three days. Apparently negotiations are going well
- 1:05Speaker 1: with the Canadians. You know, ABC TV Disney. ABC is
- 1:11Speaker 1: suing the Trump administration because the Trump administration is going
- 1:16Speaker 1: after ABC. The FCC is investigating ABC member. It's a
- 1:22Speaker 1: very very very biased slanted place, especially when it comes
- 1:26Speaker 1: to their news coverage, and that was something the FCC
- 1:32Speaker 1: always did, has nothing to do with Trump. If you
- 1:34Speaker 1: were distorting the news or biased in your coverage, they
- 1:38Speaker 1: would look at whether you should have a broadcast license,
- 1:41Speaker 1: if you were putting out any false information anything. Traditionally,
- 1:45Speaker 1: the FCC would challenge your license and people people can
- 1:49Speaker 1: challenge a broadcast license. So they're looking at ABC's TV stations.
- 1:55Speaker 1: They own a bunch of TV stations, including New York,
- 1:58Speaker 1: Los Angeles, and Chicago, and FCC is investigating them. So
- 2:05Speaker 1: ABC Disney is suing the Trump administration to stop the investigation.
- 2:11Speaker 1: But in the middle of this lawsuit, things are getting
- 2:15Speaker 1: revealed in there, you know, like take the View for instance.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Now you got your high IQ shows, you know, you
- 2:21Speaker 1: got your low IQ shows. The View is like the
- 2:23Speaker 1: low IQ show. It's the left wing equivalent of like
- 2:27Speaker 1: an Alex Jones kind of show. But the View tried
- 2:34Speaker 1: to pass it off as some sort of news program,
- 2:36Speaker 1: which it's not. It's just a bunch of comedians and
- 2:39Speaker 1: other people, just a bunch of clucking hens who don't
- 2:42Speaker 1: know much about politics. It's not a news show of
- 2:45Speaker 1: any kind. But then they got very, very very political.
- 2:48Speaker 1: They got Trump derangement syndrome, which is fine, but if
- 2:52Speaker 1: you're going to pass yourself off as some sort of
- 2:53Speaker 1: news show, you got to be fair and balanced. For instance,
- 2:57Speaker 1: the ABC Sunday Morning Show is the most slanted left
- 3:02Speaker 1: wing show, but they try to follow the guidelines a little.
- 3:06Speaker 1: So they'll have the Republican on as they'll have a
- 3:10Speaker 1: Republican candidate on, they'll have a Democratic candidate on, they'll
- 3:14Speaker 1: have somebody from the Democratic world, some governor or senator,
- 3:21Speaker 1: and then they'll have a Republican say so, at least
- 3:23Speaker 1: they do that. I mean they don't handle it fairly.
- 3:26Speaker 1: I mean the Democrat can say anything he wants and
- 3:29Speaker 1: they just nod. If the Republican says anything, they interrupt
- 3:32Speaker 1: twelve times with the all kinds of follow up and
- 3:35Speaker 1: they badger the guy. But at least they have both
- 3:38Speaker 1: on on the view. They don't even bother. They'll never
- 3:41Speaker 1: have a Republican official on, They'll never have a Republican
- 3:45Speaker 1: candidate on. It's the most rigged bias show in the world.
- 3:48Speaker 1: So in the lawsuit, it's one of the things ABC
- 3:52Speaker 1: went after him for even in certain campaigns like the
- 3:56Speaker 1: Texas race, they only had the Democrat on. Ever, let
- 4:00Speaker 1: the Republican come on. So but ABC in the lawsuit
- 4:05Speaker 1: is admitting that. They're saying, you know, we've had to
- 4:07Speaker 1: stop booking candidates. In fact, since February, we've not had
- 4:11Speaker 1: a single candidate on the view. So they're admitting if
- 4:15Speaker 1: they can't do it in a biased way, they're not
- 4:17Speaker 1: going to do it at all. If they have to
- 4:19Speaker 1: have Republicans on, they'll just stop having candidates on. That's
- 4:23Speaker 1: a pretty big admission to slip in there. Hey, speaking
- 4:26Speaker 1: of fake news, you know you keep reading these stories
- 4:28Speaker 1: about this aircraft carrier, the USS Lincoln. It's been out
- 4:31Speaker 1: at see two hundred days. This is unheard of, This
- 4:38Speaker 1: is unbearable for these sailors, why there even some of
- 4:41Speaker 1: them are jumping overboard, trying to kill themselves. This is
- 4:44Speaker 1: the story that's been pushed on you for weeks. Well,
- 4:47Speaker 1: it turns out two hundred days is pretty normal for
- 4:50Speaker 1: an aircraft carrier to be out there. In fact, the
- 4:53Speaker 1: average time they're out there is two hundred and twenty days.
- 4:55Speaker 1: So it's absolutely nothing as far as people jumping overboard.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Apparently it happened all the time. It always happens. Somebody
- 5:03Speaker 1: goes Now, they're not necessarily jumping, sometimes they actually do fall.
- 5:07Speaker 1: And sometimes somebody will jump overboard just because they're trying
- 5:10Speaker 1: to get sent home. But it's happened all the time.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Somebody going overboard on an aircraft carrier, it's not a
- 5:16Speaker 1: big deal. They're quickly rescued, and they're often out two
- 5:21Speaker 1: hundred days. It's pretty common. So it's all fake news.
- 5:26Speaker 1: And then the other reports they're not getting fresh food. Well,
- 5:29Speaker 1: as we had somebody point out last hour who was
- 5:32Speaker 1: on those aircraft carriers. A supply boat pulls up every
- 5:35Speaker 1: month or two bringing food. So again you just fed
- 5:40Speaker 1: this fake news all the time, over and over and
- 5:43Speaker 1: over again. All right, Now, what the hell is this
- 5:46Speaker 1: all about. There's a property right next to the White House,
- 5:49Speaker 1: like a block away building for sale. It was the
- 5:54Speaker 1: Historic Securities Building. Well it was just sold. But the
- 5:58Speaker 1: guy that bought it is a Chinese businessman, Philip Q.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Now this is getting a lot of attention because Q
- 6:08Speaker 1: is associated with the Chinese government and the Communist Party,
- 6:14Speaker 1: and now they're taking a close look at this guy.
- 6:17Speaker 1: He seems to be too tight into the Chinese government.
- 6:19Speaker 1: He paid eight point four million for the building. And
- 6:24Speaker 1: not only is he tied in with the Chinese Communist
- 6:26Speaker 1: Party the Chinese government, he underwent specialized combat and sniper training.
- 6:35Speaker 1: So you'd think they'd be more careful selling a property
- 6:39Speaker 1: right across from the White House, but this guy just
- 6:42Speaker 1: bought it. So this does not sound good at all. Hey,
- 6:46Speaker 1: over at CNN, you know there's a big sale going on,
- 6:49Speaker 1: a merger Ellison and Paramount. They're going to take over
- 6:54Speaker 1: com Paramount's guidance is going to take over Time Warner,
- 6:58Speaker 1: Warner Discovery, whatever it's called. And in the process they'll
- 7:02Speaker 1: get CNN. So they're worried over there at CNN that
- 7:05Speaker 1: they're going to make it more moderate, that maybe Barry
- 7:08Speaker 1: Weiss will be brought in to run it. So all
- 7:12Speaker 1: their crazy left wing, angry fake news anchors CNN, every
- 7:17Speaker 1: time a contract comes up, is resigning them to a big,
- 7:20Speaker 1: long term contract so that they're locked in. They just
- 7:24Speaker 1: did it with one of the primetime anchors, Abby Phillips,
- 7:27Speaker 1: one of the big trumpeters or contract was up, so
- 7:30Speaker 1: they've signed her a long term contract. This will if
- 7:33Speaker 1: the new owners come in they'll you know, this will
- 7:35Speaker 1: be a problem because they'll have all these people. They're
- 7:38Speaker 1: doing it with Anderson Cooper, who's on it eight o'clock.
- 7:42Speaker 1: I'm going to sign him, renewed his contract last year,
- 7:44Speaker 1: big long term contract. They're going to do it with
- 7:47Speaker 1: Caitlin Collins. So whoever takes over will be stuck with
- 7:52Speaker 1: these people. Not a good sign, not a good nothing,
- 7:56Speaker 1: not a nice thing to do. Hey, you know, Jimmy Kimmel,
- 8:00Speaker 1: speaking of Trump haters on vacation all summer. He's taking
- 8:04Speaker 1: a two month summer break. What is he in high school?
- 8:08Speaker 1: Two months summer break. In the history of late night television,
- 8:12Speaker 1: this has never happened where a host takes the whole
- 8:15Speaker 1: summer off, two months off. But he's done it, and
- 8:17Speaker 1: they got all kinds of fill ins. Now the SEC
- 8:21Speaker 1: claiming that they're a little biased over there at ABC.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Guess who the fillain is this week. It's Rosie O'Donnell.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Rosie O'Donnell is filling in for Kimmel all four nights
- 8:33Speaker 1: this week. You're saying, wait a minute, it's five nights
- 8:37Speaker 1: a week. Now The Kimmel Show is only four nights
- 8:39Speaker 1: a week because it doesn't make any money. It doesn't
- 8:42Speaker 1: have a lot of viewers. They can't afford to do
- 8:45Speaker 1: five shows a week, so they do only four a week,
- 8:48Speaker 1: and they want to rerun one night. The same thing
- 8:51Speaker 1: with the Jimmy fallon Colbert was the same thing. They
- 8:54Speaker 1: can't afford to do five nights a week. That's how
- 8:56Speaker 1: poorly these shows are doing. But Rosie o'donnald's been filling
- 9:00Speaker 1: in all week. She's already filled in two nights. You
- 9:02Speaker 1: notice you haven't heard a thing about it, so apparently
- 9:05Speaker 1: it didn't have much impact of any kind. She keeps
- 9:09Speaker 1: calling Trump the mango Mussolini, a mango Mussolini. That's her
- 9:13Speaker 1: big joke. Hey, you know who died? This guy? Bill Rasmussen.
- 9:18Speaker 1: He's the guy that came up with ESPN. Died yesterday,
- 9:22Speaker 1: ninety three years old. Hailed as a visionary, an innovator.
- 9:27Speaker 1: He created ESPN. It was nineteen seventy nine. He worked
- 9:33Speaker 1: for the Whalers. He was the communications director, got the
- 9:37Speaker 1: idea for ESPN, put it together. He had a max
- 9:41Speaker 1: out his credit card and from that he borrowed nine
- 9:45Speaker 1: thousand dollars, acquired space on a communications satellite, started ESPN
- 9:52Speaker 1: I don't know how he got that thing on the air,
- 9:53Speaker 1: but what a great job he did. You got to remember,
- 9:58Speaker 1: if you go back to nineteen seventy nine, it seemed crazy.
- 10:02Speaker 1: It seemed insane, the idea of a twenty four hour
- 10:05Speaker 1: sports network. It just seemed crazy. And you remember when
- 10:09Speaker 1: it first started. For the first year or two, the
- 10:11Speaker 1: sports were like volleyball and bowling, and you couldn't get
- 10:15Speaker 1: all the sports they have now there was no I
- 10:18Speaker 1: guess they had started. They had Sports Center and all that.
- 10:21Speaker 1: That struggled a lawn, but eventually obviously caught on. ABC
- 10:24Speaker 1: bought it and it became the biggest thing in the world.
- 10:27Speaker 1: It's hard to believe, but when he started this, they
- 10:29Speaker 1: thought he was insane, just like when Ted Turner started CNN.
- 10:35Speaker 1: They twenty four hours in news. They thought he was crazy.
- 10:39Speaker 1: They thought it was insane too, but he kept saying, well,
- 10:42Speaker 1: they got radio stations that are twenty four hours, knew
- 10:45Speaker 1: all news, They got him in all the major cities,
- 10:48Speaker 1: they do very very well. So he knew it would
- 10:51Speaker 1: work and he stuck with it. Remember, cable was new then.
- 10:55Speaker 1: HBO was the first big cable network, But then you
- 10:58Speaker 1: got CNN, and you got ESPN and then Cable just
- 11:02Speaker 1: took off in the mid eighties. Hey, there might be
- 11:06Speaker 1: another FBI scandal. You know that Christopher Ray. Boy, he
- 11:10Speaker 1: was pretty bad as FBI director, pretty sleazy. I know
- 11:15Speaker 1: you're saying, well, why did Trump appoint him? Well, because
- 11:17Speaker 1: when he got the office in the first term, he
- 11:20Speaker 1: didn't know anybody was brand new. He asked Chris Christy
- 11:23Speaker 1: to recommend somebody for FBI director. It was Chris Christie
- 11:27Speaker 1: that stuck the country with the awful Christopher Ray. But
- 11:31Speaker 1: investigations now Senator Grassley, Senator Ron Johnson, Senate Committee investigating
- 11:38Speaker 1: it looks like in the Christopher Ray FBI they might
- 11:41Speaker 1: have been deliberately misclassifying stuff, like when they were trying
- 11:46Speaker 1: to frame Trump and make up that whole fake Russia hoax. Well,
- 11:50Speaker 1: it turns out some of those documents they might have
- 11:52Speaker 1: classified them as top secret highly just to keep anybody
- 11:56Speaker 1: from seeing what they were doing. And then with some
- 11:59Speaker 1: of the Joe Bidens, they were lowering the classification so
- 12:02Speaker 1: when he got caught with them, it wouldn't be such
- 12:04Speaker 1: a crime. But this went on for a long time.
- 12:07Speaker 1: This misclassifying things deliberately part of a cover up. Now,
- 12:15Speaker 1: apparently he also set up a task force in the
- 12:18Speaker 1: FBI that if anybody was investigating Biden or Ukraine or
- 12:23Speaker 1: Biden Ukraine corruption, they would get a red flag on
- 12:26Speaker 1: it would come to their attention and they could immediately
- 12:29Speaker 1: take all the documents and classify them as highly top
- 12:32Speaker 1: secret so nobody could see them. Just to help cover
- 12:35Speaker 1: up Biden scandals. But that's the Christopher Ray FBI. This
- 12:40Speaker 1: investigation of proceeds, and it should get pretty ugly as
- 12:44Speaker 1: they uncover a lot more stuff. Hey, remember Nora O'Donnell.
- 12:50Speaker 1: When I say Nora O'Donnell, what's the first thing you
- 12:52Speaker 1: think of? Oh yeah, exactly. A nice woman bland Boring
- 12:59Speaker 1: anchored the CBS Evening News wasn't going so well. You'll
- 13:02Speaker 1: notice they took her off the CBS Evening News. The
- 13:05Speaker 1: plan was to stick her on sixty minutes, but again
- 13:08Speaker 1: she puts everybody to sleep. Now they're saying, actually, Barry
- 13:14Speaker 1: Weiss of CBS says, we'll always have a place for
- 13:17Speaker 1: Norah O'Donnell, all right, if you really want to keep her.
- 13:21Speaker 1: They're talking about the third seat on the CBS Morning Show.
- 13:25Speaker 1: That's a good place to put somebody like her, because
- 13:29Speaker 1: nobody watches that CBS Morning show. It's in third place.
- 13:33Speaker 1: All the network morning show's pretty low rated nowadays. In fact,
- 13:38Speaker 1: that third seat, it's been open for a while. The
- 13:41Speaker 1: Witness Protection Program has been using it to hide people.
- 13:44Speaker 1: He's put them somebody there and nobody will ever ever
- 13:47Speaker 1: see them. Hey, the Carnegie Deli reopening, we're all excited
- 13:51Speaker 1: about that. You can walk by fifty third and seventh.
- 13:54Speaker 1: The front is up, the sign is up. The Carnegie Deli,
- 13:58Speaker 1: of course legendary. It's not the original location. It's a
- 14:02Speaker 1: block away. It's in the location of the old stage
- 14:06Speaker 1: Delegate tests and their big rival. But the Carnegie Deli
- 14:09Speaker 1: when it opens, I don't think you'll see Mom Donnie there.
- 14:14Speaker 1: I can't picture Mom Donnie in a deli, a Jewish deli.
- 14:17Speaker 1: Can you picture Mom Donnie? Kay? I give me to
- 14:19Speaker 1: number seven. He's a guy. He's one of those that
- 14:23Speaker 1: would come in and order a pastrami on white with mayonnaise.
- 14:26Speaker 1: You know if actually, you know, in the old Carnegie
- 14:29Speaker 1: you get somebody from the Midwest or somebody I don't
- 14:31Speaker 1: have the pistrami on white bread with mayonnaise and the
- 14:36Speaker 1: Carnegie waiter would say, I'm not bringing you that. I'm
- 14:39Speaker 1: not going to bring you. I'll bring you the right thing,
- 14:41Speaker 1: and they'd bring it on Rye with the mustard and
- 14:44Speaker 1: all of that. So it is coming back, it is reopening.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Take a look at my Instagram. You can see the
- 14:49Speaker 1: picture of it. It's there. It's under construction. The front
- 14:52Speaker 1: is up. But just go to Mark Simone NYC at
- 14:55Speaker 1: Instagram and you can take a look at it. Mark
- 14:57Speaker 1: Simone NYC at Instagram. Hey, when we come back, we'll
- 15:02Speaker 1: take some calls. Eight hundred three two one zero seven
- 15:06Speaker 1: ten is the number. Let's get some new callers. We
- 15:08Speaker 1: always love new callers. Eight hundred three two one zero
- 15:13Speaker 1: seven ten. Eight hundred three two one zero seven ten
