- 0:22To the coop and let's start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody, good early morning.
- 0:30So how often do you neglect parts of yourself that you know
- 0:34are parts of you you can't neglect?
- 0:38It's a great question, right? Like right away you start
- 0:42thinking like, what is that? What are the parts that I
- 0:44neglect? So I didn't realize how much I
- 0:47was neglecting my gardening part of myself because it's just part
- 0:51of my identity. So sometimes I don't pay
- 0:52attention to the fact that it's been a hot minute.
- 0:56Well, this time of year is very tricky.
- 1:00Where I live, the hottest parts of the year are September,
- 1:06August and September, really hot, hot, hot.
- 1:09And we've had some blazing hot, like over the top humid gross
- 1:14weather. And because of that, my main
- 1:18vegetable garden got put to the side.
- 1:20Like I couldn't get out there except to take what we had left
- 1:24over. Because honestly, we lost so
- 1:26much because of the heat. It no matter how much you
- 1:29watered it, it was just too hot and the plants couldn't survive.
- 1:32They just don't survive in that kind of heat.
- 1:35So we lost a lot of things, which was fine.
- 1:38I mean, it was we had pulled a ton of stuff.
- 1:40We lost a ton, but we pulled a ton.
- 1:42So it was, it was good. And again, gardening for me is
- 1:45always learning and an adventure and thinking about like, OK,
- 1:48what can I do that would be different to help it.
- 1:50But in the in any event, I wasn't planting, I wasn't in the
- 1:54dirt, I wasn't wedding, I wasn't doing anything because it was
- 1:57just too darn hot. You walk outside, you go to do
- 2:00something and you're covered in sweat because it's 100%
- 2:03humidity. So things started to cool off.
- 2:06The last couple days have been there have been some heavy
- 2:10clouds, some rain, and it's a great time to pull weeds.
- 2:14And I would love to be able to plant a winter crop where I go
- 2:17out and plant some microgreens, some spinach, just and onions,
- 2:22just some stuff that I really want to try doing.
- 2:24Now, I've never done winter cropping before, so it's not
- 2:28like in the forefront of my mind to hurry up and get out there
- 2:31and get it done. I'm just like, all right, I'm
- 2:33going to experiment. This is another one of my, oh,
- 2:36let's just see what happens. I'm experimenting.
- 2:38I'm I'm just testing things. So yesterday I had a couple of
- 2:43people that needed to move their schedule around and I was like,
- 2:46OK, and it was cool. It was, it actually feels like
- 2:49right now it feels cool here, which is insane.
- 2:52So I said, I'm going to go out and I'm going to open the gates
- 2:55to the garden and I'm going to go in and I'm going to let the
- 2:58chickens come in with me because normally I don't do that until I
- 3:01pull back the fabric and everything.
- 3:03And I'm going to just go and pull, pull some weeds.
- 3:05And it started out with just some simple like I'm going to
- 3:07pull some weeds. And it turned into a full blown
- 3:11like experience physically for me because I didn't realize how
- 3:17bad I felt until I knelt down and I started pulling weeds And
- 3:21I was like, Oh my God, I miss this so much.
- 3:24Like I missed being in the dirt. And I know that sounds crazy,
- 3:27but I was neglecting that part of myself.
- 3:30And I can't even go weed in the flower gardens because here's
- 3:34the part, all the butterflies have laid eggs.
- 3:38They're actually going into chrysalis's.
- 3:42They're in that pupating state. And I can't pull out weeds
- 3:46because they attach to those flowers.
- 3:48So the flower gardens, they look like hell, my friends.
- 3:51But I know there's a purpose to this.
- 3:53So I'm like totally happy with the beautiful transformation the
- 3:57way it is that what does that do?
- 3:59It means I can't weed. I can't do anything.
- 4:02So I'm neglecting the part of myself that needs that so much.
- 4:07So when I got into that vegetable garden and I
- 4:09recognized, Oh my God, my hands are dirty, my feet are dirty,
- 4:13I'm filthy. I mean, I was covered.
- 4:16I was pulling weeds. I had dirt all over.
- 4:18When my, when I, my alarm went off to tell me my next call was
- 4:22coming, I was laughing because I said, Oh my gosh, thank God I'm
- 4:25not on FaceTime or I'm not on Zoom because I look like a
- 4:30homeless person in the, in the sense that I'm filthy right this
- 4:33second. So I, I just felt like I man,
- 4:37OK, this was a huge thing for me.
- 4:41I I was so happy to be dirty and to be putting my hands back into
- 4:48something that meant something to me that also triggered
- 4:51something unexpected. There was a massive amount of
- 4:54excitement about replanting the garden, which I was like, oh,
- 4:58I'm yeah, that's cool, I'll try some winter vegetables.
- 5:01But I wasn't excited. I'd never done it, but this
- 5:04kicked my excitement up. So the point of today and the
- 5:08point of talking about this is sometimes you don't realize
- 5:11you're neglecting parts of yourself, which is great.
- 5:13We can all fix that. We can understand that.
- 5:15But we also don't realize how they monkey swing to something
- 5:18else, which is my excitement for planting this next level.
- 5:23It was like that catapulted me into that next phase.
- 5:27It was like, oh, this is good. Oh, this makes me feel good.
- 5:30Oh, this decompresses me. Oh, and I had all these moments
- 5:34in my head and I was like, wow, OK.
- 5:36Not to mention that the girls were in there with me, which was
- 5:39so much fun. And they were getting really
- 5:41annoyed. It was very funny, my friends,
- 5:43to watch them get like very annoyed because the fabric is
- 5:47still down. So they were going right to the
- 5:49spots where I had pulled the stuff up, where I had cut the
- 5:52fabric, and they would stand there and just talking to me as
- 5:56if I needed to hurry up and get that fabric off, which I will,
- 5:59but just not right away. And they're going to be really
- 6:02irritated with me when I have to shut them back out once I plant
- 6:05the stuff that's coming up. But they're going to have fun in
- 6:07there for the next week or so while I get this in order.
- 6:10In any event, I wanted to share that with you because remember
- 6:13those items that you neglect, once you start fixing them,
- 6:17monkey swing to the next ones. I hope you guys have a blessed
- 6:20day and I will see you all tomorrow.
- 6:22Bye.
