- 0:05Speaker 1: Howdy. Once again, it's time to catch up with Country Weekly,
- 0:08where we check out news and gossip from the world
- 0:11of country music. I'm your host, Ken Dawkins, and I
- 0:14will be reading from various sources found online. As a reminder,
- 0:19RADIOI is a reading service intended for people who are
- 0:22blind or have other disabilities that make it difficult to
- 0:25read printed material. We'll begin with the first article dated
- 0:29April twentieth, and this will be from Savingcountry Music dot Com.
- 0:34The headline this feels Big. Miranda Lambert Inc's new deal
- 0:38with MCA. Miranda Lambert has already secured what will likely
- 0:43go down as a Hall of Fame career in country
- 0:45music as one of the most awarded artists in the
- 0:47genre's history. But if she searches for a second win
- 0:51behind her storied career, she will do so with a
- 0:53new label and at an interesting time for Lambert and
- 0:56country music. On Monday morning, it was announced that Miranda
- 1:00has signed a new contract a new recording contract with
- 1:03MCA to release a future album. Lambert was signed to
- 1:07Nashville based Sony Imprints for the first nine albums of
- 1:09her career, including landing seven number one albums in a
- 1:13Row and a number two with her final album for
- 1:15the label, twenty twenty two's Palomino. Then in twenty twenty four,
- 1:19Miranda Lambert released her latest album, Postcards from Texas, via
- 1:23a deal with Republic Big Loud As. She also became
- 1:26a founder of Big Loud's regional imprint, Big Loud Texas.
- 1:30Postcards from Texas received positive reviews, but debuted at number
- 1:34eight on the country charts and outside of the top
- 1:36twenty for the first time in her country career, aside
- 1:39from her side project, The Marfat Tapes. Now, perhaps the
- 1:43hope is a new label can help rekindle some of
- 1:45that Miranda Lambert early career magic and at a time
- 1:48that very well might be opportune. Lambert was co producer
- 1:52on Ella Langley's new album Dandelion, and also co wrote
- 1:55the album's massive hit, Choosing Texas. The album debuted at
- 1:59number one in all of music this week, while Choosing
- 2:01Texas continues to be the most popular song in the
- 2:04United States. Throughout my life and career, I have found
- 2:08that the common thread in every chapter is finding the
- 2:10right people songwriters, musicians, collaborators and team members to match
- 2:15the moment. Miranda Lambert said in a prepared statement, I'm
- 2:18honored to join a roster and a team with such
- 2:20a rich history of championing artistry. I look forward to
- 2:23sharing this new music with the world under their banner.
- 2:27It's likely the partnership will include Miranda Lambert still publishing
- 2:30under her Banner Records imprint. But what about Lambert's role
- 2:34at Big Loud Texas after she was so integral in
- 2:37the founding of this important infrastructure to Texas music. The
- 2:41good news for folks in Texas is Lambert is not
- 2:43leaving her executive role at Bigloud Texas. She will continue
- 2:47in her place as founder and will continue to work
- 2:49in the capacity of artists and business development for the
- 2:52label and publishing company. Though no wordy about new music
- 2:55comes with a new label announcement, you can be assured
- 2:58something is likely on the horizon. And now, with women
- 3:01in a more traditional country sound surging in popularity and country,
- 3:04perhaps this will be the perfect time for Miranda Lambert
- 3:07to catch that second wind. Next Wayne Moss, guitarist on
- 3:13Pretty Woman and Jolene, has died. When you can sit
- 3:17back and boast about how you played on the signature
- 3:19songs from both Dolly Parton and Roy Orbison let alone
- 3:22the guitar part on Only Daddy that Will Walk the
- 3:25Line by Waylon Jennings and were part of Bob Dylan's
- 3:28Nashville sessions recording his iconic album Blonde on Blonde. You
- 3:32can very well claim you left your mark on American culture.
- 3:35Truth is, that's just where the credits and accolades for
- 3:38Nashville cat session player Wayne Moss began. Unfortunately, though his
- 3:42life story ended on Monday at the age of eighty eight,
- 3:45the music he made, though, will live on. Wayne Moss
- 3:48was one of those Nashville session players whose credits were
- 3:50so numerous it might be easier to list who he
- 3:53didn't work with than who he did through the years,
- 3:56and many of his credits simply going unrecorded. When he
- 3:59moved to Nashville, phill in nineteen fifty nine looking to
- 4:01make it in music, he became friends with harmonica player
- 4:04Charlie McCoy and drummer Kenny buttry falling in with the crowd.
- 4:08Who was on call today and night to record the
- 4:10next hit? It was a Hall of Fame piano player
- 4:14Hargus Pig Robbins, who officially hired Wayne Moss on a session,
- 4:18but only a couple of years after arriving in Nashville,
- 4:21Moss also opened his own studio called Cinderella Sound, which
- 4:24would become legendary in recording circles, in part because of
- 4:27the mystery surrounding it. Along with playing guitar and bass
- 4:31on countless sessions, Moss also worked as a record producer
- 4:34and accrue number of songwriting credits over his career as well.
- 4:38Though country was much of the repertoire that Wayne Moss
- 4:41worked in, he was also known for working with numerous
- 4:43rock performers. That's why his playing credits span across a
- 4:46wide variety of artists, from Patsy Klein in Lefty Frizelle
- 4:50to Waylon Jennings, Charlie Pride, Charlie Daniels, Chris Christofferson, Loretta Lynn,
- 4:54Jon Baez, Bob Dylan, Linda Ronstadt, and the Steve Miller Band.
- 4:59If he were one one of those rockers who came
- 5:00to Nashville to tap into the city's rich musical talent,
- 5:03Wayne Moss was one of the names you wanted to
- 5:05have on your recordings. He could bring that country field
- 5:08but remained palatable to rock sensibilities. Former Monkeys member Mike Mesmith,
- 5:13Carl Perkins, and Nancy Sinatra were some other names that
- 5:17solicited the services of Wayne Moss, whose studio sessions were
- 5:20mostly what he was known for. Moss was also in
- 5:23the touring band of Brenda Lee for a spell. Wayne
- 5:27Moss was around long enough to see the very start
- 5:29of the Nashville recording community, and around long enough to
- 5:32see it go through numerous premutations, from classic country gold
- 5:35to the rise of rock, to country politan, and into
- 5:38the outlaw era. He also played in two of Nashville's
- 5:41most legendary session player bands, Area Codes six point fifteen
- 5:45and Barefoot Jerry. As Big Labels bought up or operated
- 5:50many of Nashville's studios, Wayne Moss kept his Cinderella Sound independent.
- 5:55The studio emerged out of the closing down of a
- 5:57nightclub called The Sack that Moss owned with Charlie Mca.
- 6:00They took the sound equipment from the club and built
- 6:03a studio out of it in the garage of Wayne
- 6:04Moss's Madison Area home. It would go on to become
- 6:07legendary and one of the last independently owned studios in
- 6:11the city. Grand Funk Railroad, James Gang, Steve Miller, Ban,
- 6:15Linda Ronstadt, Mickey Newbery, and Moore were some of the
- 6:18names who sought Cinderella and Wayne Moss out to record.
- 6:22The studio wasn't listed in any phone book and wasn't
- 6:25part of public knowledge. You had to know somebody who
- 6:27knew Wayne Moss to get permission to record there. That
- 6:31made the space magical to the artists and bands that
- 6:33ventured to Nashville to record at the place owned by
- 6:36the guy who played the iconic guitar riff on Pretty Women.
- 6:40Wayne Moss was born on February ninth, nineteen thirty eight,
- 6:43in South Charleston, West Virginia. Grew up playing in bands
- 6:46in Charleston, knowing he wanted to be a musician. Moss
- 6:49was inducted into the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame
- 6:52in twenty thirteen. He probably should be a candidate for
- 6:55the Rock and Roll and Country Music Hall of Fames
- 6:57as well. So next time you hear the guitar and
- 7:00Bob Dylan's I Want You, or Roy Roberson's Pretty Woman,
- 7:03or Dolly Parton's Joline, think of Wayne Moss, who put
- 7:06the sound to the story of some of the greatest
- 7:08pieces of recorded music in history. Now we move over
- 7:12to cinema blend dot com with the article dated April
- 7:16twenty eight, Keith Urban gave fellow country singer Lanny Wilson
- 7:20some blunt advice when she complained about being on the road.
- 7:25Keith Urban had plenty of good advice for up and
- 7:27coming country music singers on the road the CBS Singing
- 7:30Competition from Taylor Sheridan that Urban hosted alongside Blake Shelton.
- 7:35But apparently that's not the only time he's dolling out
- 7:38gems to fellow artists. We saw how he's a force
- 7:41to be reckoned with on the New Singing Competition, and
- 7:44Landy Wilson recently revealed she got some blood advice from
- 7:47Urban once after she complained about a brutal touring schedule.
- 7:52Lanny Wilson has been seemingly unstoppable over the past few years,
- 7:56winning dozens of awards, including ACM, CMAS, and even a Grammy.
- 8:00She hosted the CMA Awards, appeared on Yellowstone, and made
- 8:03her feature acting debut in the twenty twenty six movie Calendar.
- 8:06In the Colleen Hoover booked to screen adaptation of reminders
- 8:09of him. That's not to mention her actual music and touring,
- 8:13and she spoke on the No Filter podcast about the
- 8:16time she told Keith Urban how exhausted she was. I
- 8:19ran into him and I was so tired. I had
- 8:21been on the road. I think we played one hundred
- 8:23and eighty something shows that year. I saw him and
- 8:26I was telling him. I was just like, I'm tired,
- 8:28and he was like, no whining on the yacht and
- 8:31I was like, Keith, you better get up out of
- 8:33my face with that. Now. Wilson may not have wanted
- 8:36to hear that piece of advice at that moment, but
- 8:38the message definitely stuck with her. Basically, that sounds like
- 8:41Keith Urban's way of reminding her what a privilege it
- 8:44is to be able to play music for a living.
- 8:47Wilson is getting opportunities most people only dream about, so
- 8:50there's no room for complaining. Keith Urban's whining warning wasn't
- 8:54the only wise words he had for Landy Wilson over
- 8:56the years either. The Heart like a Truck singer said,
- 9:00Keith Urban has been one of those guys. From me,
- 9:02he told me not long ago. He's like it's better
- 9:04to maintain balance than always be trying to achieve it.
- 9:07To me, that means figure out what works for you.
- 9:10Have work life balance and don't lose that. But once
- 9:12you do and you're kind of lopsided, then it's hard
- 9:15to get back. Work life balance is a struggle for
- 9:18a lot of people, as is taking the good things
- 9:20in our lives. For Granted, Keith Urban definitely hasn't always
- 9:23had it easy, particularly lately with his divorce from Nicole
- 9:26Kidman after twenty years together. The Road streaming with a
- 9:31Paramount Plus subscription, was filmed a few months before the
- 9:34couple went public with their break up, and fans thought
- 9:37Urban might have been singing about Kidman when he performed
- 9:40Messed Up as Me about a couple in a turbulent relationship,
- 9:44and straight Line about wanting to escape from a soul
- 9:46sucking situation. There may be no winding allowed on the yacht,
- 9:50but Lady Wilson should take note that singing about your
- 9:53troubles is highly recommended. Now we move down the winding
- 9:57road to Countrynow dot Com. With the first article Day
- 9:59to Day April twenty first, Brandon Lake brings out Jordan
- 10:03Davis for surprise by Dirt duet in Charlotte. You never
- 10:07know who will show up to join Brandon Lake on
- 10:09his King of Hearts tour. He recently welcomed country superstar
- 10:12Cody Johnson to the stage, while other stops have featured
- 10:15appearances from Gary LeVaux of Rascal Flats and Bailey Zimmerman.
- 10:19So when the tour rolled into the Spectrum Center in Charlotte,
- 10:22North Carolina, on Sunday, fans were left wondering who might
- 10:25show up next. They got their answer when country hit
- 10:28maker Jordan Davis took the stage. Midway through the show,
- 10:31Lake stepped forward and welcomed Davis out in an intimate
- 10:34setup featuring two stools at center stage. Before the pair
- 10:38launched too Davis hit by Dirt. Lake shared the personal
- 10:42meeting the song holds for him. Brittany and I while
- 10:45we moved out of the city and my life just
- 10:47started getting really busy, we put an offer on this
- 10:50house and we had to wait six months till we
- 10:52moved out there. What I didn't realize is that the
- 10:55land would heal me in ways I didn't know I
- 10:57needed he a healing, he shared, and me and Brittany
- 11:00played this song every single day, and this became our
- 11:02anthem and so I wanted to share it with us. Together,
- 11:06with acoustic guitars in hand, the two delivered a stripped
- 11:08down performance of the chart topping hit. Lake later shared
- 11:12a video of the moment on social media, writing, my
- 11:15boy Jordan Davis wrote one of my all time favorite songs,
- 11:18so of course I had to have him come singing
- 11:20on the koh tour. Davis was quick to respond, adding,
- 11:24awesome night, brother, thank you for having me out. Let's
- 11:26do it again soon. The moment clearly struck a chord
- 11:29with fans in attendance as well. One concertgoer wrote, I
- 11:33was at the concert last night. What a powerful message
- 11:35and moment seeing this live. What a beautiful song and
- 11:38meaning behind it, while another added a highlight from the
- 11:40most incredible night. I love you both. In addition to
- 11:44sharing the stage with some of country music's biggest stars
- 11:46on tour, Lake recently released the Jesus I Know That's
- 11:50the Jesus I Know now with superstar Lady Wilson. The
- 11:53love and support around this song has honestly been more
- 11:56than I could have expected. I've been blown away by
- 11:58the stories how God is using this song to reshape
- 12:01how you view Jesus. While my sin breaks is heart,
- 12:03I'm thankful for a love and grace that always extends
- 12:06and pushes me to want to be a better man.
- 12:09Grace isn't an excuse to sin, but if I had
- 12:11a limit, I sure would have used it all up
- 12:13by now. Brandon Lake's King of Hearts tour continues on Thursday,
- 12:18or did continue this Thursday in Greenville, South Carolina. Next,
- 12:23Riley Green delivers a career defining night at Bridgestone Arena
- 12:27in sold out Nashville. Show country superstar Riley Green checked
- 12:31off a major career milestone on Saturday night, headlining Nashville's
- 12:35iconic bridge Stone Arena for the first time as part
- 12:37of the Cowboy As It Gets to Her in front
- 12:40of a sold out crowd, of course, in Music City.
- 12:43The Alabama native took the stage around nine twenty pm,
- 12:46starting the night with a signature duck call into the
- 12:48mic that instantly set off a huge reaction from the
- 12:51capacity crowd. Green launched into different round here, damn good
- 12:56day to leave, and if it wasn't for trucks, before
- 12:59welcoming the night's first special guest, longtime friend and fellow
- 13:03Alabama native Jamie Johnson for pair of songs where the
- 13:06Corn Don't Grow and in Color. It was a full
- 13:10circle moment for Green. It was long credited Johnson as
- 13:12one of the biggest influences in his career. From there,
- 13:15Green kept the momentum going with the fan favorites like Georgia,
- 13:19Time and Rather Be before slowing things down for Make
- 13:22It Rain. Throughout the night, the platinum selling star kept
- 13:26production simple, with no over the top pyrotechnics, just a
- 13:29massive video screen behind him, keeping the focus on the
- 13:32songs and the performance. Fans sang along all night and
- 13:36were later surprised with a guest appearance from Carly Pearce
- 13:40for their hit duet if I Don't Leave, I'm Going
- 13:42to Stay. After a pair of Toby Keith covers, Green
- 13:45then made his way through the crowd, stopping for high
- 13:47fives and fist bumps as he walked to the B stage,
- 13:50where he showcased a strip down set featuring three of
- 13:54his solo written tracks, the emotional Jesus Saves, the newly
- 13:57released My Way, and the chart topping Don't Mind If
- 13:59I joined by opener Mackenzie Carpenter, closed out the night
- 14:04with some of his biggest hits to date, concluding that
- 14:06there was This Girl, Worst Way, and I Wish Grandpa's
- 14:09Never Died. The show marked a defining moment in Riley's career,
- 14:13his biggest headlining tour yet and a clear sign that
- 14:16this is his moment. From playing bars and clubs to
- 14:19now commanding arenas like Bridgestone, his rise has been steady,
- 14:22hard earned, and Saturday Night felt like the payoff. The
- 14:26night also showed what makes him stand out as a
- 14:28live performer. He doesn't rely on flashy production or over
- 14:31the top staging, just well written songs, a solid voice,
- 14:35and a crowd that knows every word. Next, Country Thunder
- 14:39Florida relocates to Clearwater for twenty twenty six Country Thunder
- 14:45Florida has announced that its twenty twenty sixth festival is

- 15:12the reason for the change was due to various environmental concerns.
- 15:16While we are disappointed that the Country Thunder Florida will
- 15:19no longer take place on Saint Pete Beach, it has
- 15:22been a privilege to work alongside the Country Thunder team

- 16:59country thunder Sharfes City manager Jennifer Porier. I'm excited to

- 17:06to some great country music. In lieu of the recent
- 17:10venue change Country Thunder. Ticket holders interested in a refund
- 17:13can do so at the original point of purchase. Now
- 17:16we slide on over to countrycentral dot com with the
- 17:19first article also dated April twenty first, Morgan Wallen and
- 17:24Ella Langley reveal new duet I Can't Love You Anymore.
- 17:29Morgan Wallan and Ella Langley performed a new duet, I
- 17:31Can't Love You Anymore live for the first time Saturday
- 17:34night at Wallin's show in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The song is
- 17:38scheduled for release this coming Less weekend and marks the
- 17:42first time the two have appeared together on a studio
- 17:44recording after a long string of live duets. The track
- 17:48carries as Sultry's seventies influenced sound reminiscent of Fleetwood Mac,
- 17:52centering on two people caught between exhaustion with a dysfunctional
- 17:55relationship and an inability to fully walk away from one another.
- 17:59On stage, age, Wallen remarked, Ella wrote this song about
- 18:02a month ago and sent it to me, and I
- 18:03loved it from the second I heard it. Eagle eyed
- 18:07fans may have spotted the collaboration coming. The letters ic
- 18:10l YA, an acronym for the song's title appear on
- 18:14a Tennessee license plate in the music video for Langley's
- 18:17recent single Choosing Texas a subtle easter egg Planet ahead
- 18:20of Friday's announcement. Though this is their first recorded collaboration,
- 18:25Wallin and Langley have built a well documented friendship over
- 18:28the past two years. Langley served as support act on
- 18:31Wallin's I'm the Problem Tour in twenty twenty five, and
- 18:34the two have performed together on stage several occasions, often
- 18:38dueting his song what I Want. Langley is also set
- 18:41to join Wallen on his twenty twenty six Still the
- 18:44Problem Tour next. Tracy Lawrence adds new No Alibi Tour dates.
- 18:51Tracy Lawrence has announced a second leg of the twenty
- 18:53twenty six No Alibi Tour, adding thirty three dates to
- 18:56the run and extending it through October. The tour launched
- 19:00last month and includes a stop at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium
- 19:03on May third, Lawrence's third consecutive appearance at the venue
- 19:07following back to back sellouts. The run also takes him
- 19:10through Minnesota and Wisconsin this weekend, before spreading across the
- 19:14South Midwest and both coasts through the fall. Throughout the
- 19:18nineteen nineties, Lawrence established himself as one of country music's
- 19:22most recognizable voices, scoring hits with Alibi's Time Marches On,
- 19:26If the Good Die Young, and Paint Me of Birmingham.
- 19:29He later added find Out Who Your Friends Are featuring
- 19:32Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney to his catalog of classics.
- 19:35His musical style draws on neo traditional country and honky
- 19:38talk influences, and he has won Top Male Vocalist honors
- 19:42from both Billboard and the Academy of Country Music. The
- 19:47New Alibi or No Alibi tour dates include August fourteenth
- 19:51in Kentucky in Pikeville at the Appalachian Wireless Arena next
- 19:57Waylan Wyatt announces new single dead Man Whalen Wyatt took
- 20:02to Instagram to announce that his new single, dead Man
- 20:04Walkin is set to drop this weekend. Wyatt rode in
- 20:08the caption, been loving playing this one for you all
- 20:10out on the road. Had to get it out for
- 20:12you all soon. The new single arrives in a particularly
- 20:15busy moment for the nineteen year old Arkansas native. His
- 20:18recent collaborations with producer Ian Fitchuck, known for his work
- 20:22with Casey Musgraves have pointed toward a sophisticated, technically polished
- 20:26artist with songs to match. That trajectory was on full
- 20:29display earlier this year when Wyatt teamed up with Wyatt
- 20:32Flores for the duet Didn't Forget Dead Man Walkin also
- 20:36in the Midst of Whale and Wyatt's biggest tour to
- 20:38date is Everywhere Under the Sun North American headlining slated
- 20:42to take him across clubs and festivals all summer long,
- 20:46and that includes in Lexington, Kentucky, on June sixth at
- 20:49the Railbird Music Festival. Now we move on to Taste
- 20:54of Country with the first article published on April twenty second.
- 20:58Shania Twain hosting the twenty twenty six ACM Awards. Shania
- 21:04Twain will host the awards in Las Vegas. In May,
- 21:06the Academy of Country Music revealed the country superstar would
- 21:09host the annual award show in a press release stated Wednesday,
- 21:13twenty twenty six, will mark Twain's first time hosting the
- 21:16awards ceremony. I'm thrilled to be hosting the sixty first
- 21:20ACM Awards in Las Vegas, a place that feels like home.
- 21:23Twain states, it's such an honor to be part of
- 21:25this incredible night celebrating country music's biggest stars, especially with
- 21:30so many talented women leading nominations this year. I can't
- 21:33wait to welcome all of the fans and artists out
- 21:35for this unforgettable night. Shania Twain is the best selling
- 21:39female country artist of all time. Of course, she dominated
- 21:43the country scene in the nineties with albums including The
- 21:45Woman in Me, Come On Over of Placing, a long
- 21:47string of hits including any Man of Mine, You're Still
- 21:51the One from this Moment on That Don't Impress Me much, Man,
- 21:54I Feel Like a Woman, and more. Shania Twain is
- 21:58a three time ACM Award winn and five time Grammy
- 22:01Award winner. She sold more than one hundred million units
- 22:04worldwide across many genres. Next. Why the Eagles fired guitarist
- 22:11Don Felder. The Eagles have seen quite a few lineup
- 22:15changes over the years, but few of them shook the
- 22:17band up quite like guitarist Don Felder's departure. The Eagles
- 22:21fired Felder from the band on February six, two thousand one,
- 22:25touching off a series of events from which his relationship
- 22:28with the other musicians would never recover. Felder joined the
- 22:32band back in nineteen seventy four, and he had an
- 22:34immediate impact on the group, which was in the process
- 22:37of transitioning from the country rock stylings of the early
- 22:40hits including Take It Easy, Peaceful, Easy Feeling, and Best
- 22:44of My Love into a more rock edged sound. Felder
- 22:48was much more of a rock guitarist than their original
- 22:50guitarist Bernie Leaden, and his contributions to the band were major,
- 22:54not only as an instrumentalist, but also as a co
- 22:56writer on songs including Victim of Love, Those Shoes An
- 23:00Even Hotel California. But problems developed between Felder and some
- 23:04of the other band members, especially singer guitarist Glenn Frye,
- 23:09that came to a head at a concert in Long Beach,
- 23:11California in nineteen eighty when fry and Felder clashed back
- 23:14stage before the show and subsequently taunted each other with
- 23:17threats of violence on stage in front of the fans
- 23:20during the show. The band took a break for fourteen
- 23:23years after that, as we know, and fans and even
- 23:26musicians were surprised when the Eagles got back together on
- 23:28tour in nineteen ninety four with the pre break up
- 23:31line up of Frye Don Henley, Felder, Joe Walsh and
- 23:35Timothy B. Schmidt. That line up toured steadily from ninety
- 23:39four until Felder's dismissal in two thousand one, but there
- 23:42was still a great deal of turbulence behind the scenes
- 23:44in regard to Felder was unhappy with Henley and Fry's
- 23:47dominance in the band and the fact that he was
- 23:50no longer an equal financial partner in the Eagles under
- 23:53the terms of the reunion. It was Henley and Fry's
- 23:56decision to fire Felder, and he responded by suing them,
- 24:00alleging wrongful termination as well as breach of contract and
- 24:03fiduciary duty. The litigation settled out of court several years
- 24:08of after several years of legal wrangling, and the terms
- 24:12were never disclosed. Henley and Fry subsequently sued to try
- 24:16to stop publication of Felder's tell all book about his
- 24:19time in the Eagles, which delayed its publication by two years.
- 24:23Finally published in two thousand and nine, Heaven in Hell
- 24:26My Life in the Eagles offered a scathing portrayal of
- 24:28Henley and Fry as power and money man dictators who
- 24:32ran the Eagles with an iron fist and arranged underhanded
- 24:35ways of keeping as much of the resulting money for
- 24:37themselves as they could. The book would provide the final
- 24:42nail in the coffin of Felder's relationship with the other Eagles.
- 24:45Though past members Leaden and Randy Meisner were invited to
- 24:48participate in the History of the Eagle's tour in two
- 24:50thousand thirteen, Felder was notably passed over, and as far
- 24:55as is publicly known, he has never spoken to anyone
- 24:57in the band since two thousand one. It's a situation
- 25:01Felder says he wishes he could change. I'm a firm
- 25:04believer that people have been in such a substantial part
- 25:07of your life should not be slashed out. People that
- 25:10are good people I like to keep in my life.
- 25:11Felder told you to Ultimate Classic Rock. That's back in
- 25:15twenty thirteen. I've reached out numerous times to the Eagles
- 25:19directly and indirectly, with a warm handshake, not asking for anything,
- 25:22just conciliatory well wishes, and the only response I've ever
- 25:26heard is from their lawyers. So I would say that's
- 25:28the place I'll have to arrive on their own. If ever,
- 25:31Felder never got the chance to mend fences with Fry
- 25:34before the singer died in January of twenty sixteen. In
- 25:37a statement after Fry's unexpected death at the age of
- 25:40sixty seven, Felder said that he was left with a
- 25:43very heavy heart filled with sorrow, pointing out that he
- 25:45and Fry had been like brothers at times, and like
- 25:48brothers they had fought. It saddens me a great deal
- 25:51that we were never able to address the issues that
- 25:53came between us and talk them through. Felder lamented sadly,
- 25:57now we will never get the chance. The planet has
- 26:00lost a great man and a wonderful musician today. None
- 26:03will ever be able to take his place next. Zach
- 26:07Topp didn't expect to be embraced by country music. Zach
- 26:11top recently received five nominations in the upcoming twenty twenty
- 26:15six ACM Awards, and his reaction makes him one of
- 26:18the humblest artists you will ever see in the music industry.
- 26:21Top was a recent guest on Country Countdown USA with
- 26:24Lon Helton. We got to talking about his slew of
- 26:27nominations for this year's ACM Awards. The South of Sanity,
- 26:31singer says, they keep throwing them in my way. I
- 26:34keep waiting for them to pull the rug out from
- 26:37under me. Here's a guy with all the success in
- 26:39the world out of the gate, worrying that all the
- 26:41accolades he has accumulated thus far are a mistake and
- 26:45that the industry will someday realize that and take them away.
- 26:49Top tells Helton, it's wild. I didn't expect to be
- 26:51embraced by the industry as much as I have. It
- 26:54feels really good. It's gratifying that the industry has taken
- 26:56a liking to me. I'm grateful for It's out to
- 27:00the system that a guy that is as country as
- 27:02they get, posting videos of him playing guitar and singing
- 27:05with a case of beer behind him while sitting on
- 27:07a writing lawnmower, thought that the country music industry would
- 27:10not embrace him as he is a walking country music monument.
- 27:14Top is up for five ACMs for this year's show,
- 27:17Male Artists of the Year, Album of the Year, Song
- 27:20of the Year for I Never Lie, and Single of
- 27:23the Year and again. The twoenty twenty six ACM Awards
- 27:27will take place on Sunday, May seventeenth, beginning at eight pm.
- 27:31Fans can watch the show exclusively on Amazon Prime Video,
- 27:35which will carry the broadcast live from Las Vegas. And finally,
- 27:39Billy Bob Thornton says he has written eighteen to twenty
- 27:43country songs after Landman's success. Is a Billy Bob Thornton
- 27:47going country? Well, not exactly, but he's becoming a popular
- 27:50writing companion in Nashville. It all started when the Landman
- 27:54actor put pen to paper with his pal of thirty
- 27:56five years, Mark Colly, who stars in the show with him.
- 28:00The two wrote the song Midland After Midnight, which was
- 28:03then recorded by Flatland Cavalry for the show's soundtrack. I've
- 28:07been writing a lot of country songs, Thornton tells Ksby News.
- 28:11For some reason, all of a sudden, I grew up
- 28:13in rock and roll. I don't know how to write
- 28:15a country song. Next thing, you know, all the country
- 28:17guys wants to write songs with me, and boy has
- 28:20he been writing. The actor tells ksb Why that he's
- 28:23probably written somewhere between eighteen and twenty songs, with most
- 28:27of them having been recorded or are going to be
- 28:29recorded for various albums. That's a thing that's kind of
- 28:33new to me writing in that world. He adds. Wow. Well,
- 28:37that concludes the reading of Country Weekly for this week.
