- 0:25Now let's open our Bibles and study God's Word.
- 0:30Hey, man, so good to be here with you.
- 0:32And I'm so glad my wife is here with me as well.
- 0:34And yeah, about a year ago here speaking and just God, thank you
- 0:40for your prayers and and she's here with me today.
- 0:43So I'm so delighted in in that And it's just it's such an honor
- 0:49to be here with you all to share God's word with you.
- 0:52And you know as he was just sharing that I I called Pastor
- 0:58Ed about a year ago and said I don't think I'll be able to
- 1:01speak. And then I talked to my wife.
- 1:02She's like boy go to work, you know.
- 1:03Anyway so now she told me to you know go ahead and do what God
- 1:08told me to do and to preach and God took care of everything and
- 1:11and know we thank the Lord for that.
- 1:13But then again the delight to be here with you we are in first
- 1:17Peter chapter one versus. We'll be looking at versus 10 to
- 1:2216 and I pray to the Lord will bless you.
- 1:24Going to talk about a topic today that all of us know about.
- 1:27The most of us know about that is the salvation that we have in
- 1:30our Lord and Savior of Jesus Christ And like spouses many
- 1:33times we take each other for granted and you know or or maybe
- 1:37the job you have you take it for granted.
- 1:38And sometimes I think as believers we begin to take our
- 1:41salvation for granted at times. Amen.
- 1:44I just need to be reminded that man what we have is so unique in
- 1:47the Lord and how we should be appreciative of that each and
- 1:51every day that we have been transformed, We have been saved
- 1:54through faith in Jesus Christ. Amen.
- 1:57And so you know, let's before we go any further, let's pray and
- 2:00ask God to bless his word. Father, we come to you in the
- 2:03name of Jesus and we ask for you to bless your word.
- 2:05Lord, you to show up and show out you to speak to our hearts.
- 2:08You give us ears to hear what the Spirit of God is saying to
- 2:11the Church. Give us hearts to receive your
- 2:13word and Lord that you will be glorified.
- 2:15We commit this time to you now in Jesus name and everyone said
- 2:20Amen. Praise the Lord.
- 2:22Well, salvation by definition. Again, we're starting with the
- 2:25basics here, but salvage, my definition, is the preservation
- 2:28or deliverance or deliverance from harm, ruin, and loss.
- 2:32And that is exactly what happens when we come to Jesus Christ.
- 2:36Amen. It is that He has delivered us
- 2:39from harm so that we might be healed because of our sins.
- 2:42He's delivered us from ruin, that we might be called the
- 2:44righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.
- 2:47He's delivered us from loss, that we might have everlasting
- 2:51gain. Amen.
- 2:52Those who come to Jesus Christ shall not perish, Jesus said,
- 2:55but shall have ever lasting life.
- 2:58Therefore Paul the Apostle declared in First Thessalonians
- 3:01chapter 5, verse nine. He said, For for God did not
- 3:04appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through faith
- 3:11in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
- 3:14God has not appointed us to wrath, but unto salvation.
- 3:18Every one of us has an appointment we're going to keep
- 3:20in regards to salvation and and I don't care what what male,
- 3:24female, what, whoever you are, whoever you think you are, you
- 3:27know what your political association is or anything like
- 3:30that. We all have an appointment we're
- 3:32going to keep. The Bible says it's appointed on
- 3:33the man wants to die, then the judgment and and you either have
- 3:36an appointment for salvation or you have an appointment for
- 3:39wrath. Those are the only two
- 3:43appointments that we can keep. Well, you know, I'm kind of, I'm
- 3:45kind of in the middle. No one's in the middle in that.
- 3:48Jesus said that if we have rejected him that we shall not
- 3:52have life. We will perish, that we will be
- 3:56condemned if we reject him. And so we have an appointment we
- 4:00must keep. And that appointment is with
- 4:02wrath or with or salvation. For the believer, we have an
- 4:05appointment with salvation. Aren't you glad about that?
- 4:08An appointment for salvation in our Lord?
- 4:11The Bible says there is now Romans 81.
- 4:14No condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus God.
- 4:17It is, you know, in Christ there is no condemnation for us.
- 4:20We have an appointment apart from the judgment of God against
- 4:23our sins because of our faith and our Lord and Savior, Jesus
- 4:26Christ. Now why is this important?
- 4:28Why am I you talking about this salvation?
- 4:30Because. We need to understand, as David
- 4:33declared he said, Restore it unto me.
- 4:35Restore unto me, Lord, the joy of your salvation, and uphold me
- 4:39by your generous spirit. Where did you say that?
- 4:41And Psalm 51 verse 12. Restoring to Me Lord, the joy of
- 4:45your salvation. Sometimes in our journey as
- 4:47believers, we forget that it is not my salvation.
- 4:50It's His salvation, the joy of your salvation.
- 4:53A lot of times as Christians, we don't have joy because we're
- 4:55focused on our definition of salvation.
- 4:58We begin to sort of, you know, as we walk with the Lord, we
- 5:00start thinking we're we're all that in a bag of chips and we
- 5:03and we start living according to our performance and how good we
- 5:06are and and what people. Say about us and we think, oh,
- 5:08you know that. That's where my joy comes from.
- 5:10No, it comes from the joy of his salvation.
- 5:13In other words, what the Lord has done by the arm of the Lord,
- 5:17what he has provided for us, what God has done for us, rather
- 5:21than what we can do for God. Do you have joy today?
- 5:25It's his. Do you have joy?
- 5:31Amen. Do you have joy in the Lord?
- 5:35If I was just The joy of the Lord is our strength.
- 5:36How can I have joy when I'm I'm, you know I failed.
- 5:40How can I have joy when I fall short so many times?
- 5:42How can I have joy because I'm rejoicing in what He has done
- 5:45for me, not what I can do for God.
- 5:49That's where my joy comes from. And I have to remind myself of
- 5:52that in my Christian journey that my joy comes from what His
- 5:55arm has provided, not what my arm or my hands can provide.
- 5:59So we should always have joy as believers, and His joys are
- 6:03strength. And the devil knows that.
- 6:05That's why he wants to rob you of your joy.
- 6:07Have you walk in here today without any joy because you've
- 6:10been focused on some failure or something you didn't do or
- 6:13accomplish in the Lord? The Lord said, no, no, no.
- 6:15Your joy comes from me rejoicing what I've done for you.
- 6:19Are you rejoicing today? Oh, come on, there's one person
- 6:23over here. I think there's a few others.
- 6:25There's a few others. All right, Lord, we're rejoicing
- 6:29in you today. The joy of the Lord is our
- 6:33strength. So we talk about our salvation.
- 6:35This salvation minute. We're talking about joy.
- 6:38We should have joy. God means for us to have joy in
- 6:41the Lord. David understood that true joy
- 6:44is sustained by what God has done, not what he could do for
- 6:47God. And so Peter here reminds the
- 6:50church right into the churches of Asia Minor.
- 6:52He's right. Right into the churches,
- 6:53reminding them the Jews and Gentiles alike, reminding them
- 6:58of three aspects of our salvation. 3 Aspects, There are
- 7:04reasons why we have joy in our salvation and those three things
- 7:08are prophecy. The second one is what I call
- 7:11disclosure, and the third one is transformation.
- 7:14There are many reasons we have joy in the Lord, but Peter
- 7:17points out these three and I think they're like pillars to
- 7:19our joy that support the joy that we have in the Lord #1, the
- 7:24salvation we have in the Lord and the reason we have this joy
- 7:27is because it is a fulfillment of prophecy is prophetic.
- 7:31Now we shouldn't look at that light because people think, oh
- 7:33the religion you have, you know your faith in crisis.
- 7:36Man made religion has nothing to do with man and everything to do
- 7:40with God's promise, the promise of a savior.
- 7:43Look at verses 10:00 and 11:00 here in first Peter chapter one
- 7:46what Peter says of this salvation.
- 7:49The prophets have inquired and searched carefully who who
- 7:56prophesied of the grace, the grace that would come to you,
- 8:01verse 11, searching what or what manner of time the Spirit of
- 8:06Christ, who was in them was indicating when he justified or
- 8:12testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ.
- 8:17In other words, he's saying, you know what the the the prophets
- 8:19they search, they want to know God made a promise that he would
- 8:22send the world a savior if if if God thought our greatest need
- 8:25was a politician, he would have sent a politician.
- 8:27If he thought our greatest need was a scientist, who would have
- 8:29sent a scientist? No.
- 8:30But our greatest need, mankind's greatest need, your greatest
- 8:33need today is that you have a savior, and he sent a savior.
- 8:36He promised a Savior who would come and die a tone for all of
- 8:41our sins. So Peter declared Second Peter
- 8:47chapter one, verse 21 that the prophets indeed inquired about
- 8:51When is this going to happen? And the scripture tells us in
- 8:54Second Peter chapter one, verse 21.
- 8:56For prophecy never came by the will of man.
- 9:00It's this is not a man made your faith.
- 9:02Your salvage is not made-up by men.
- 9:04It was not by the will of men. But holy men of God spoke as
- 9:08they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
- 9:11Amen. And verse 11 tells us in first
- 9:14Peter chapter one we just read it which says that the Spirit of
- 9:18Christ was within him. Jesus in the Old Testament, the
- 9:20Spirit of Christ, Father Son, Holy Spirit of 1.
- 9:23Jesus in the in the Old Testament speaking prophesying
- 9:27about the promise of God through the Old Testament prophets of
- 9:30the promise of God that was to come, the promise of a savior.
- 9:35How glorious that is, How precious it is, The salvation we
- 9:38have, that it is a fulfillment of God's promise, a fulfillment
- 9:42of prophecy. The prophets of old spoke about
- 9:47this, inquired about this, when is God going to fulfill this
- 9:51promising. And now we're on the other side
- 9:53of of the first advent of Jesus Christ.
- 9:56And we're we're, and we have enjoyed the benefits of
- 9:58receiving Christ as Lord and Savior.
- 10:00But the prophets of old, they didn't know exactly when this
- 10:02was going to take place, when the Messiah was going to come.
- 10:05And so they inquired and looked and the scriptures to see when
- 10:08it was going to take place. And one of the There are many
- 10:11prophecies talking about the advent of Christ and the promise
- 10:14of Christ coming. But Daniel Chapter 9 is one of
- 10:17the most significant prophecies concerning the the coming of the
- 10:21Messiah, the first advent of Jesus Christ.
- 10:23You know there's two advents of Christ.
- 10:25The first time he came as a lamb.
- 10:28The second time he comes, he's going to be a lion.
- 10:31Amen. Revelation chapter 19.
- 10:34He will come and strike the nation's Amen.
- 10:36And we're looking forward to that day.
- 10:38Praise the Lord when Jesus will come the second time, but the
- 10:41first time he came as a lamb. Daniel Chapter 9 verses 2426
- 10:46gives us an idea. Of when he would come.
- 10:49There we find what is called the 70 week prophecy of Daniel, 70
- 10:53prophetic weeks. 1 Prophetic week is 7 years and Daniel
- 10:57declared in Daniel Chapter 9, verse 25.
- 11:00In regard to the coming of the fulfillment of God's promise,
- 11:03the coming of the Messiah, he said this.
- 11:05He said no therefore and understand that from the going
- 11:10forth of the command to restore and build Jerusalem until
- 11:15Messiah the Prince that is the promise of the Savior, there
- 11:19shall be 7 weeks and 62 weeks. 7 + 62 is 6969.
- 11:26Prophetic weeks 69 * 7 = 483 years, 483 years from the time
- 11:33the decree goes out to rebuild Jerusalem after the 70 year
- 11:37Babylonian captivity to the time that Messiah comes with the 483
- 11:42years. And we know according to history
- 11:44that the decree was issued by King Arthur Xerxes of Persia and
- 11:484:45 BC and is noted for us in Nehemiah chapter 2 verses 1:00
- 11:55to 8:00. And there's a lot of
- 11:57calculations that the that are have been that are given there
- 12:02concerning the prophecy, or a lot of calculations I should say
- 12:05one website gives us. It's called christian.net.
- 12:09christian.net and it and it gives us a Jewish calculation of
- 12:13the time from the time the decree goes out to the time the
- 12:16Messiah would come. Then if you want to go look into
- 12:18that, you can. I don't have time to share all
- 12:21the detailed information only to say that 483 years Daniel
- 12:26prophecy would pass before the Messiah comes. 173,880 days.
- 12:33Amen. Before the Messiah would come,
- 12:36that places us and again, you can go back and look at all the
- 12:39calculations at christian.net. But that places us on April at
- 12:44April the 6th, a D32. What was happening on April the
- 12:486th, 8032, Daniel said from the time that the screen went out to
- 12:52rebuild Jerusalem to the time that Messiah comes 483 years.
- 12:55What was happening on April the 6th?
- 12:57A D32. Jesus was entering the city of
- 13:01Jerusalem on that triumphal entry into the city on that
- 13:04first Palm Sunday. Amen.
- 13:07The Messiah was coming into the city exactly when Daniel said
- 13:11the time would happen. What a glorious testimony.
- 13:15A glorious fulfillment of prophecy on our behalf.
- 13:19The Savior had come to die for the sentence of the world.
- 13:23Amen. Oh make no mistake about it.
- 13:25This is a glorious salvation we have.
- 13:27It is not man made, It is prophetic.
- 13:29And Jesus came to fulfill that prophecy.
- 13:32Amen. Praise his holy name.
- 13:37But when Jesus came into the city, the Bible says he was not
- 13:39rejoicing and partying like everybody else.
- 13:42He was weeping because the the, the religious leaders and and
- 13:48many of the Jews miss the coming of the Messiah, the Bible tells
- 13:53us in Luke chapter 19. Now as he drew near, he saw the
- 13:58city and he wept over it, saying, if you had known, yes,
- 14:03even you specifically or especially rather in your day,
- 14:10the things that make for your peace, but now they are hidden
- 14:13from your sight. The peace of God has hidden from
- 14:20the side of the world. Today the peace of God is hidden
- 14:24was hidden from the side of the Jews because they miss the
- 14:28coming of their Messiah. The the the religious leaders
- 14:32knew Daniel Chapter 9. They knew of the prophecy but
- 14:34they ignored it. You know why?
- 14:36Because like a lot of meet people today, they were looking
- 14:38for a different Jesus. See, a lot of people miss Jesus
- 14:43because they come to church looking for a different Jesus.
- 14:46And a lot of churches are trying to manufacture a different Jesus
- 14:50after the spirit of the world. In Jesus Day, they were looking
- 14:54for a politician. They're looking for someone to
- 14:56come and overthrow the Roman government and to establish the
- 14:59the, the, the former prominence of Israel once again.
- 15:04That's why they were waving the Palm branch, Palm branches at
- 15:06all. We call it Palm Sunday.
- 15:08It was a declaration of Israel's former glory.
- 15:13And when he was crucified on the cross, even the disciples
- 15:16abandoned because how could this be our Messiah?
- 15:20Because they didn't believe in a suffering Messiah.
- 15:24They thought he was going to come and overthrow the Roman
- 15:25government. And like a lot of people today,
- 15:27they're looking for a prosperity Jesus.
- 15:28They're looking for a different Jesus.
- 15:30I remember when I first got saved how there were the people
- 15:32had these drawings of Jesus or whatever, you know, artistic
- 15:37renderings of Jesus and different styles.
- 15:39Like there was a Jesus with an Afro.
- 15:43It was a Jesus who was surfer Jesus.
- 15:46It was Jesus the businessman. Remember, some of you might be
- 15:49old enough. Remember selling those old
- 15:50posters? We want to passion him in our
- 15:53own image and we doesn't show up in my life the way I want him to
- 15:56show up. And I got a problem with Jesus.
- 15:59I'm blind to that, which makes for my peace.
- 16:03Is that you today? Have you been looking for Jesus
- 16:06made and fabricated from your own thinking, your own mind?
- 16:10Or you looking for the Jesus who came in the image of God to die
- 16:14for your sins? Are we looking for the right
- 16:18Jesus? Jews didn't believe in a
- 16:21suffering Messiah, but he had to come and suffer first to die for
- 16:25our sins. Isaiah chapter 53 tells us that
- 16:29but he was wounded for our transgressions.
- 16:32He was bruised for our iniquities, the chastisman for
- 16:36our peace. Was upon him.
- 16:39And by his stripes we are healed.
- 16:41And I know a lot of Christians use that.
- 16:42They go, oh, by his stripes I'm healed.
- 16:44And and God is a healer. Yes, he does heal, but then he's
- 16:47not talking about physical healing here.
- 16:49He's talking about spiritual restoration and redemption.
- 16:53By his stripes we are healed. And then he goes on to prove
- 16:56that by saying the prophecy goes on and says that all we, like
- 16:59sheep, have gone astray. We have turned everyone to His
- 17:04own way, and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
- 17:09Weren't you glad about it? Hallelujah.
- 17:10Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Lord, that my
- 17:14iniquity my sins. Were fully laid upon you, that
- 17:19you came to meet mankind's greatest need, and that was the
- 17:23need for Savior. You came as a fulfillment of
- 17:26prophecy. So our salvation, it's not some
- 17:32happenstance. It's not manufactured by men.
- 17:35It is a fulfillment of the promise of God.
- 17:39Aren't you glad about it, Amel? Oh, come on now, let the Lord
- 17:43know you're glad about it if you don't know that salvation.
- 17:50I pray before this service is over you and make a decision to
- 17:53follow Jesus. Here's the second thing that
- 17:55Peter points out here about our salvation that it is fully
- 17:58disclosed. That means that it has been
- 18:00pronounced announced to the entire world, the Gospels being
- 18:05proclaimed to the entire world. It is fully disclosed.
- 18:08Aren't you glad you'd when you walked in today that you didn't
- 18:11have to know the secret handshake to get in yet?
- 18:15You're not a partisan secret club.
- 18:19Aren't you glad that God disclosed the gospel to you?
- 18:21I'm so glad I was on my way to hell and God disclosed I.
- 18:25Someone shared a gospel with me and I gave my life to Christ.
- 18:29Aren't you glad you know weren't excluded because of the color of
- 18:31your skin or your your economic situation or your political
- 18:35affiliation? The Gospels for all the world is
- 18:38fully disclosed to the entire world.
- 18:42Verse 12. And Peter said to him it was
- 18:46revealed to them. Rather, it was revealed, that
- 18:48is, to the prophets, not to themselves, not just for them,
- 18:52but to us. They were ministering.
- 18:55The themes which now have been reported have been reported to
- 19:03you through those who have preached the gospel to you by
- 19:08the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things which angels
- 19:15desire to look into. Wow, this gospel fully disclosed
- 19:23to the entire world. It's good news.
- 19:27It's good news for the whole world.
- 19:30It's not only unto the prophets or to the Jews, it's to the
- 19:33entire world. But God so love the world, that
- 19:36he gave his one and only the only Son, that whosoever will
- 19:39believe in him shall not perish again, but have everlasting life
- 19:44fully disclosed to the entire world the gospel of Jesus Christ
- 19:50and therefore. Jesus told his disciples and he
- 19:54commissioned the church to go out and disclose, to preach, to
- 19:58share this good news with the entire world.
- 20:02There's no shame in our game. We only hide the good news of
- 20:05the gospel and the and the gospel is not good news until we
- 20:08give it away, right? Share it with other people.
- 20:12Mark chapter 16, verse 15 and 16.
- 20:16One of the Great Commission, but it is found in some of the in
- 20:19the other gospels. But Jesus said there, and he
- 20:22said to his disciples to go into all the world and preach the
- 20:25gospel. To how many?
- 20:27That is every creature fully disclosed to every creature.
- 20:31He who believes and is baptized will be saved, but he who does
- 20:37not believe will be condemned. Why?
- 20:41Because they have rejected the love of God, rejected the love
- 20:46of God that has come in the in the form of the only begotten
- 20:49Son of God who died on the cross for our sins.
- 20:54The gospel is meant for all of us, not just a select for you.
- 21:00That's so important for us to understand that because it
- 21:03doesn't matter what you've done, it doesn't matter who you've
- 21:05done it with. It doesn't matter how many times
- 21:06you've done it, There's still room at the cross for you.
- 21:11There's some people under the persuasion of the devil who
- 21:14think that there's no hope for them.
- 21:15They feel hopeless. You're not hopeless because
- 21:20Jesus is the God of all hope. You're not hopeless.
- 21:23Don't listen to that lie of the enemy this this morning, that
- 21:26today you Christ, died on the cross of you.
- 21:29You have hope. There is everlasting hope in
- 21:32Jesus Christ. And even some believers begin to
- 21:35think that you have everlasting hope in Christ.
- 21:37Amen. You are not hopeless because
- 21:42Christ, because of the gospel of Jesus Christ, as Christ died for
- 21:47you. The old songs is there is room
- 21:50at the cross for you. Though millions have come,
- 21:53there's still room for one. Hey man, there's room at the
- 21:56cross for you. We have hope in the Lord,
- 22:00Hebrews Chapter 7, verse 25 says.
- 22:02Therefore he is also able to save.
- 22:05Jesus is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to
- 22:10God through Him, since he always lives to make intercession for
- 22:15them all. That that's that's that's
- 22:16twofold meaning there, you know, he he he saves to the uttermost.
- 22:20He saves no matter who you are, what you've done, how many times
- 22:23you've done. He saves to the uttermost.
- 22:26I like to say to the Guttermos, because that's where God found
- 22:29some of us. Oh, you, oh, you don't want to
- 22:31admit it right now, but that's where he found you.
- 22:33Amen. He saves to the uttermost.
- 22:37You're never hopeless. And he always And after he saves
- 22:43you, he always makes intercession for you.
- 22:47Aren't you glad Jesus never forgets to pray for you?
- 22:52Sometimes people will come to me and say, pass it out.
- 22:54Will you pray for me? Yeah.
- 22:55Yeah. And I'm doing a million things a
- 22:57week later that I'll see him and say pastoral, thanks for praying
- 22:59for me, Lord really came through And I'm like, dude, I totally
- 23:01forgot. I like, you know, But you know,
- 23:05you play it off like, oh, praise the Lord, I'm so glad Jesus is
- 23:10praying for us. He never fails to pray for us.
- 23:12Amen. Hey man, give him praise and
- 23:14glory so you're not hopeless. For those of you who don't know
- 23:22Christ, you're not hopeless. And those of you who know
- 23:24Christ, you're not hopeless. You're not helpless because he's
- 23:27making intercession at the right hand of the throne of Father for
- 23:30you right now as you're sitting here.
- 23:34No, he says to those who who have preached verse 12, the
- 23:37latter part in first Peter chapter one, those who have
- 23:40preached the gospel by the Holy Spirit.
- 23:43I love him that he says preach the gospel and he says by the
- 23:46Holy Spirit. In other words, when we share
- 23:48the gospel, understand that as we share the word of God, it's
- 23:51the work of the Holy Spirit. It's not by might, nor by power,
- 23:54or by the Spirit of God. In other words, when I share the
- 23:57word of God, I don't have to persuade people.
- 24:00I don't have to convince people. I don't have to sell people on
- 24:03the Kingdom of God. I just sell them on salvation.
- 24:06Because I always say, if you can sell somebody into the Kingdom,
- 24:09the devil will sell them out because the devil knows your
- 24:12price. But if you're born again by the
- 24:17Spirit of God, you're impregnated with the Spirit of
- 24:19God living inside of you. Oh, you'll be transformed.
- 24:21You'll be changed. You'll never be the same.
- 24:23Amen. You'll never be the same.
- 24:28The work of salvation is the work of the Holy Spirit.
- 24:31God calls us to be holy male men.
- 24:33You know that. Just deliver the mail.
- 24:37Just deliver the mail. Don't worry about you know the
- 24:40results. The results are in the hands of
- 24:42God. Jesus said in John chapter 6,
- 24:44verse 44, that no one can come to him unless the Father who
- 24:49sent me draws him and I will take him up at the last day.
- 24:55Amen. I will raise him up at the last
- 24:57day. No one can come to the
- 24:59fatherless. Holy Spirit draws him.
- 25:01We're just simply to do deliver the mail, unleash the Word,
- 25:05unleash the good news, and watch God, the gospel work, and the
- 25:10lives of other people and draw them to Christ.
- 25:13Peter goes on to say about this, this Full disclosure of of the
- 25:16gospel, that this is something that angels desire to look into.
- 25:19You just see that angels desire to look into Like what?
- 25:22Look into salvation. It blows their minds that God
- 25:28loves you. They can't figure it out how God
- 25:34loves Al Pitman. It blows their minds.
- 25:41I know we get all excited about the angels in my you know we
- 25:43have a a guardian Angel and all that and angels over there.
- 25:46It's great and and they're the messages of God and they they
- 25:49inner you know intervene and and there are angels and all of that
- 25:52But we we're caught up with an Angel.
- 25:54You know, angels are blown away. When they look at you, they go,
- 25:56huh. How does, how does how does this
- 26:01work? You know, I share the last
- 26:04service, you know. You know, I was a little boy.
- 26:06I got into a loud, you know, dumb things that boys get into.
- 26:09And one day I was real small and I have a two other brothers
- 26:14younger than me and the one next to me, we're underneath the
- 26:17kitchen sink and got into Mom's Easy Off oven cleaner and, you
- 26:21know, Easy Off oven cleaner. Hey, man, I don't even know if
- 26:24they make it anymore. So dangerous.
- 26:27But it's it's a paste and you paste it on the side of the oven
- 26:30and it like eats all the stuff. I don't know.
- 26:33It's got acid in it or something.
- 26:34I don't know, but I had the idea of opening the jar.
- 26:37It smelled kind of sweet. And then I tasted it and tasted
- 26:40a little sweet. Oh yeah.
- 26:42So, you know, because I'm a generous person, I got a big
- 26:45spoonful and gave it to my younger brother and then I took
- 26:49a little bit. Anyway, Long story short, they
- 26:51caught us. Mom yelled at us and rushed us
- 26:53to the hospital. They gave us a a shot of milk
- 26:56and cod liver oil, I think it was.
- 26:58And you know that due to you cleared us right up.
- 27:02But I'm just imagining angels in heaven, Lord, saying you don't
- 27:04want me to tell you my eternal plan.
- 27:06You know that young man, that little boy down there?
- 27:08I'm going to call him the Ministry.
- 27:10And angels like the dude. That ain't easy off.
- 27:15Are you kidding me? How are you?
- 27:18Your spirit's going to be in him.
- 27:20You're going to call him the Ministry?
- 27:23The guy is easy off. And what about you?
- 27:28What about some of the things you've done?
- 27:29The angels are like, whoa. They desire to look into these
- 27:35things because they're amazed. The Spirit of God, Creator, who
- 27:43holds the universe and the span of His hand.
- 27:46The one without who nothing exists, who is the creator of
- 27:50all things. The Spirit of God lives in you,
- 27:56and it blows the angel's minds, and they desire to look into
- 28:00these things, salvation. But they can't, because it's
- 28:04only for you. It's only for you, only for
- 28:09those who call upon the name of the Lord.
- 28:12And so the psalmist says in Psalm One O 3 this is closure of
- 28:16the truth, that this hope that we have of salvation and that
- 28:19which we received from the Lord. This is what the angels marvel
- 28:22over for It says they're in Psalm One O 3.
- 28:24For as the heavens are above the earth, so great it's the Lord's
- 28:28mercy toward those who fear Him. As far as the east is from the
- 28:34West, so far has He removed our transgressions from us the
- 28:41angels like. How is that?
- 28:43As a father pities his children, so the Lord pities those who
- 28:50fear Him, for He knows our fray that He, and remembers that we
- 28:56are dust. How can glory dwell within dust?
- 29:00But God made it so through the gospel of Jesus Christ.
- 29:05Aren't you glad about it? Today praises Holy Name, Full
- 29:09disclosure of the gospel. Full disclosure of the gospel is
- 29:13this that our sins and our frailties have been swallowed up
- 29:17by the mercy of God for all who would fear the Lord and put
- 29:22their trust in faith in Jesus Christ.
- 29:25That's the gospel fully disclosed.
- 29:29The third thing that Peter declares declares here
- 29:31concerning our salvation. The joy that we have in our
- 29:34salvation is that it is transformative, transformative
- 29:38salvation. In other words, our salvation
- 29:42changes our lives and the Bible tells us that that if if we say
- 29:48we walk in the light and yet we walk live in darkness, you know,
- 29:50John says the first John chapter one, he says.
- 29:53You're a liar and the truth is not in you.
- 29:55If you've been transform, if you've given your life to Jesus
- 29:58Christ, you've been saved. You have salvation.
- 30:01It should change your life. Amen.
- 30:04Then say that you were perfected or you were perfect, but there
- 30:07should be a transformation within your life.
- 30:09And there are actually 4 indicators that Peter gives us
- 30:13here of a transformed life. But verses 13 to 16 read along
- 30:18with me. As Peter says, therefore gird up
- 30:21the loins of your mind. Be sober and rest your hope
- 30:25fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the
- 30:31revelation of Jesus Christ, verse 14, as obedient children,
- 30:38As obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the
- 30:42former lust, as in your ignorance.
- 30:46But as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all
- 30:53your conduct because it is written Be holy for I am holy.
- 31:02The first indicator that Peter points out that if you've been
- 31:04you have salvation, you've been transformed through faith in
- 31:08Jesus Christ, is that you have a girded mind, a mind gird, and no
- 31:12one talks like that anymore. Nobody walks in.
- 31:14Here's the last time someone said hey is your mind girded
- 31:18you, you don't we don't talk like that anymore.
- 31:20But but he says gird it. Gird up your your the lines of
- 31:23your mind. Now we get into a little bit
- 31:25more explanation and and and that day men would wear these
- 31:28long flowing robes or or cloaks or whatever and and when they
- 31:34would get ready to run for action or battle whatever they
- 31:37would grab the excess material bring it up tuck it into their
- 31:41belt. Now they're ready to run and and
- 31:44and ready for battle. There there's a what is is a is
- 31:47a of of of readiness, he said. Let your mind be ready to you
- 31:53know and have a ready mind to obey God gird up the the loins
- 31:58of your mind. You're ready for action for
- 32:01righteous works. Now we have a modern day example
- 32:04of greeting of the loins of your mind.
- 32:07You've ever seen these kids that don't see it that much anymore.
- 32:10But they used to sag, remember sagging.
- 32:12You know the kids will wear their pants down below their
- 32:14behinds and and the the belt, the, you know, it's down here
- 32:18and they got the underwear showing and he thought the girls
- 32:20thought that was cool. You know, I don't know what.
- 32:22Girls thought that was cool, but they thought it was and you
- 32:25know, they were you know, walk around like that, thought it was
- 32:28cool. But I see some of these guys
- 32:30sometimes and and they, you know, they got a run or
- 32:33something running from the police or whatever, and they're
- 32:35running with their pants held up like this, you know?
- 32:37And they're, they're running. I'm like, dude, I mean, you
- 32:40know, back in the day, we have some crazy fashions, but at
- 32:42least we wore our pants on our on our hips, you know, And so
- 32:46you couldn't. You saw the police Boom.
- 32:47You could take off, see. But now you guys, you guys are,
- 32:50you know, cinching up you guys. And then I thought about it.
- 32:53But really, you know, they were being biblical.
- 32:56They were girding up the loins. So that they could run and get
- 33:00away from the law, whatever they were being biblical anyway.
- 33:04I hope it's a fad that has faded out.
- 33:05But just when I'm ready to beat up on the younger generation
- 33:08about sagging and stuff, I'm reminded of platform shoes and I
- 33:12shut up. Amen.
- 33:13So some of you remember that painful experience Gird up the
- 33:20lines of your mind. That word mind.
- 33:22It means, it implies our way of thinking, readiness to learn.
- 33:28Our attitude. Was your attitude girded up when
- 33:32you walked in, say, speak to me, Lord?
- 33:36Or did you have a saggy mind? A loose, saggy mind,
- 33:41undisciplined mind? It's the devil's workshop.
- 33:45We have to have a mind that's ready to follow the Lord, and
- 33:51that comes through being in the word and personal devotion, time
- 33:54and all. You know, some days I'll be
- 33:57quite honest, my mind's a little bit more saggy than others, but
- 34:00I understand I need to gird up my mind if I'm going to truly
- 34:04serve the Lord. Peter said be sober.
- 34:07This is how you this is how you would have girded mind.
- 34:09Looks like you're sober. The Greek word nepho, it means
- 34:13to be selfcontrol, clearheaded, selfcontrol, clearheaded.
- 34:20You know, under the the the direction of the of the Holy
- 34:23Spirit. Next time somebody calls you
- 34:26with a little bit of gossip, you should you should say to them.
- 34:34Call me back when you're sober. Oh, it gets quiet.
- 34:41Call me back when you sober up spiritually, because there's
- 34:45nothing worse than an inebriated, spiritually
- 34:47speaking, inebriated believer who's under the influence of the
- 34:52world and spreading gossip. Call me back.
- 34:56You know, girl, Girl. Let me tell you what.
- 34:59Yeah. Oh, I got something in is.
- 35:02Is that what Jesus is saying about the pastor?
- 35:06Is that what Jesus is saying about that brother or sister?
- 35:10Oh, call me back when you're sober.
- 35:15Have a sober mind. Here's the 2nd indicator of
- 35:20transformation. You know, last service laughed
- 35:25at that line. But you guys are real quiet, so
- 35:26I don't know. I mean, hit a nerve.
- 35:27I don't The second indicator here is transformation or of
- 35:33transformation I should say is resting in the grace of God, he
- 35:36said. Peter says rest in the grace of
- 35:38God. I love that rest in God's grace.
- 35:43Do not rest a little bit. But he says fully resting in the
- 35:50grace that is to be brought to you when at the revelation of
- 35:54Jesus Christ when Jesus Christ is revealed.
- 35:57Hebrews chapter 13, verse 9 says, do not be carried about
- 36:02with various and strange doctrines.
- 36:04Be careful, for it is good that the heart be established by what
- 36:10grace, not with foods which have not profited those who are
- 36:19occupied or obsessed with them. In other words he's writing the
- 36:21book of Hebrews written to Hebrews written to Jews who
- 36:24we're very familiar with Jewish the law and and and and what was
- 36:28kosher to eat and what wasn't kosher to eat.
- 36:30And yet their their their rest was found in what they didn't
- 36:34eat or they did eat and and in the right of Hebrews are saying
- 36:38don't let your rest be in what you didn't eat or did eat.
- 36:41Let your rest. Be in the grace of God.
- 36:44Let your heart be established not in works, but be established
- 36:49in God's grace. Is your heart established in
- 36:52God's grace? They fully established in the
- 36:56grace of God? Grace is the great stabilizer of
- 37:01our faith, the great stabilizer of our faith.
- 37:05May have a rough week and things and go right, or maybe you
- 37:08messed up or whatever, but God is grace.
- 37:10And what did God say to Paul when Paul was saying, Lord, just
- 37:14take this one thing away from me.
- 37:15I'll be just fine if you remove this one thorn in my flesh.
- 37:18The Lord said no, I'm going to leave it there.
- 37:21I know you're flawed, but my grace is sufficient for you.
- 37:25Amen. Some of us are like Lord.
- 37:31I didn't know I needed that much grace, but thank God his grace
- 37:34is sufficient for us. Grace is the great stabilizer.
- 37:40Grace stabilizes us today. And when we see Jesus, it will
- 37:45be there. It will be the atmosphere that
- 37:48will be present. When we see Jesus face to face,
- 37:51I think some of us have the idea that we'll get to heaven and the
- 37:54Lord will say, hey, I'm glad you're here, but got a couple of
- 37:57things I want to talk to you about.
- 38:00No, he's not going to call you on the carpet.
- 38:03Peter says grace that will be revealed at the Revelation of
- 38:06Jesus Christ. Grace will be there to welcome
- 38:09you home. Amazing Grace, Thank God for His
- 38:13grace. Grace at the Revelation of Jesus
- 38:16Christ awaits us. I love what it says in
- 38:20Revelation chapter 21 verse four.
- 38:22Talk about God's grace, what grace looks like to me.
- 38:27And I know some of us may go home see the Lord before Jesus
- 38:29returns. But when we we come to be with
- 38:32him, whether we leave now or, you know, he comes back to the
- 38:37earth and we're still here when he comes back or we shouldn't be
- 38:41here. Amen.
- 38:41Should be in the rapture of the church.
- 38:43But there's be some believers that will be around even when
- 38:46Jesus comes back because they'll be converted during the great
- 38:49tribulation period. But having said all that, kind
- 38:52of doing, a little rabbit trail. But this is what grace looks
- 38:55like. Revelation chapter 21, verse
- 38:57four. And God will wipe away every
- 39:00tear from their eyes. There shall be no more death,
- 39:06nor sorrow, nor crying, nothing to cry about.
- 39:10There shall be no more pain. For the former things have
- 39:15passed away. Aren't you glad about that?
- 39:18That he will wipe away every tear from our eyes?
- 39:22Amen praises holy name. Here's the third indicator of of
- 39:27a transformed life that Peter gives her is obedience verse 14
- 39:32as obedient children, obedience not being conformed.
- 39:36What does it mean to be obedient to the Lord?
- 39:38To not be conformed to the world or a former lust, but to be
- 39:42transformed by the power of God? Romans chapter 12 verses one and
- 39:47two says, I beseech you. Paul says therefore, brethren,
- 39:50by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living
- 39:55sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God, which is a reasonable
- 39:57service. And do not be conformed to this
- 40:00world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you
- 40:04may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of
- 40:09God. The the what we see today with
- 40:11all this woke ISM and people being canceled on all this, is
- 40:15that people demand that you be conformed to this.
- 40:18This to Godless ideologies to be conformed.
- 40:22It means there's peer pressure from outside and if you don't
- 40:25conform, we will cancel you. And there's a lot of people who
- 40:28have who have bought into this and and who have been bought
- 40:33into, bitten into the forbidden fruit, if you will, and and have
- 40:36bought into this lie. And so we have people with
- 40:39educations and and degrees and and their professors and and
- 40:42colleges and universities and when you.
- 40:44Ask them, because they've been so conformed to the world, what
- 40:47is the definition of a woman? They have no idea.
- 40:51You know why? Well, because I'm openminded.
- 40:53No, you're so openminded. Your brains are falling out.
- 40:57What's happened is you've been pressed, pressed into a form in
- 41:02a mold by the spirit of this world.
- 41:05And the Bible says, don't be conformed, be transformed, be
- 41:09transformed. Amen.
- 41:13And how are we transformed? Through obedience.
- 41:16We must obey the Lord as obedient children.
- 41:20We are transformed that we're transformed from the Greek word
- 41:23metamorpho. And it means it's where we get
- 41:27our word metamorphosis, and it means to change into another
- 41:30form. What's the form worth being
- 41:32changed into and to the likeness of Jesus.
- 41:34Second Corinthians, chapter 3, verses 17 and 18.
- 41:37Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is,
- 41:40there is liberty. But we all with with, excuse me,
- 41:45unveiled face, Behold, as in a mirror the glory of the Lord.
- 41:52Are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory.
- 42:00Amen. Lord, I don't know what my next
- 42:02stop is in life, but I know it's glory.
- 42:05Amen. From glory to glory.
- 42:07Just as by the Spirit of the Lord, transformed as we behold
- 42:15Christ, we're transformed from glory to glory as we're obedient
- 42:20to the Lord. The 4th and final indicator, if
- 42:24you will, of our transformation is He says be holy has to do
- 42:29with our conduct. Verse 15 read along with me
- 42:32first Peter chapter one. But as he who called you as
- 42:36holy, you also be holy and all your what conduct?
- 42:41All our conduct. This is evidence of
- 42:44transformation. I mean, I'd be perfect, but but.
- 42:47Jesus, if I truly have been saved, I have salvation and I've
- 42:51and I've been transformed and my life should change, it should be
- 42:54a transformation of change in my life.
- 42:57Because it is written. He says be holy, for I am holy.
- 43:01The devil has given holiness a bad name.
- 43:03I know as a young man coming up. As a young man not coming up
- 43:07but. Mama dragging me to church.
- 43:09Amen. Holy people to me is they dress,
- 43:12you know, drag all black or whatever, and they didn't wear
- 43:15any makeup. You know, they they look scary.
- 43:17Amen. There.
- 43:18That was, that's what holiness was scary to me.
- 43:20It was like, you know, that's holiness.
- 43:22Now that person, that person over there looks like they're
- 43:24mad. They've eaten a bunch of and
- 43:26lemons and and prunes and stuff. You know, that person is holy.
- 43:30You know I'm holy. And so when I think about
- 43:36thought about holiness as a child and even as a new
- 43:38believer, I thought, oh, oh man, it's like, you know, put me in a
- 43:41straitjacket or whatever. No, holiness is liberating.
- 43:45I, I, I, I love the way that this gentleman is theologian
- 43:50John Brown declared or described holiness, if you will.
- 43:55And he said holiness does not consist in Mystic, super Mystic
- 44:03speculations. Enthusiastic fervors or
- 44:07uncommanded austerities, that is restrictions, that is laws and
- 44:12regulations. It comes in thinking or it
- 44:17consists rather in thinking as God thinks and willing as God
- 44:22wills. close quote. It is just saying Lord you will
- 44:26be done. It isn't that what Jesus taught
- 44:29us, to pray that will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
- 44:34To do God's will and to seek to do God's will is what it means
- 44:37to be holy. It's not what you how you dress
- 44:39and all that. It's Lord.
- 44:42I want to be like Jesus. I want to do what pleases you.
- 44:45Lord, help me to be holy. Help me to be holy.
- 44:51Want you to note that Peter is not just subscribing some form
- 44:55of doctrine so that he can control the people.
- 44:57He says no. It is written.
- 44:59It is written. Be holy, for I am holy.
- 45:03It is. He's declaring the word here be
- 45:05written it be holy, for I am holy.
- 45:07That word holy is from the Greek word hegios.
- 45:09It means physically pure or morally blameless.
- 45:15Lord, I want to do what pleases you.
- 45:16I want to hate evil. The fear of the Lord is to hate
- 45:19evil, to love what is good. And so Lord, help me to do that.
- 45:23I'm not perfect because holiness, my friend, is a
- 45:25lifelong endeavor. It's sanctification.
- 45:29And the Holy Spirit is is, is sanctifying us and working in us
- 45:32all the time. And I love what it says.
- 45:33I'm thinking Hebrews chapter 4. You should have had the
- 45:36reference here, but Hebrews chapter and in the book of
- 45:38Hebrews it says that that those who are sanctified, He who
- 45:42sanctifies and those who are being sanctified, He is not
- 45:45ashamed to call them one. He's not ashamed to be one with
- 45:49them. I love that that while God is
- 45:51cleaning us up, cleaning our act up, that he's not ashamed of us.
- 45:56He's not trying to hide, you know, you and the addict you
- 45:59know, or someplace. But he walks with us and helps
- 46:04us to be holy in our conduct. He corrects us and he
- 46:08disciplines us and all. Philippians chapter 2 tells us
- 46:11that it's a lifelong endeavor, holiness St. being sanctified.
- 46:14It says that work out your own salvation with fear and
- 46:18trembling. Verse 13 of Philippians chapter
- 46:21two, he says For it is God who works in you both to will into
- 46:27the and to do for His good pleasure.
- 46:30That's that's the work of sanctification.
- 46:33That's the work work of holiness in our lives.
- 46:35God working in us that we might do His.
- 46:38Good pleasure that we might live a life pleasing to him.
- 46:41So if we've been transformed, it should affect our conduct, the
- 46:45conduct of our lives as well. I would say holiness is this
- 46:50way. Consider it to be this because
- 46:54again, a lot of times theologians, you get so wordy
- 46:56and stuff that it messes with people's minds and they they
- 46:59think they got to do a certain thing or be a certain way here.
- 47:01Here's what holiness is for men in my life that is continually
- 47:05running. To Jesus.
- 47:07Rather than running away from him, when I fall on my face, I
- 47:11run to him. When I make mistakes, I run to
- 47:14him. Whether I'm in the valley or on
- 47:17the mountaintop, I'm going to always run to him.
- 47:21Running to Jesus. Have you been running away from
- 47:23the Lord? I just can't do.
- 47:25No, you can't do it, but the Lord can submit yourself to Him.
- 47:30Run to him. Don't run away from 1:00 because
- 47:33he is provided for us a throne of grace, whereby we might
- 47:36receive grace to help in time of need.
- 47:39Aren't you glad about that today?
- 47:42You're not Okay in recap. By way of recap, we have joy in
- 47:51the salvation that we have. Peter says that we have joy.
- 47:55It's a whole hallmark of our of our salvation having joy in the
- 47:59Lord. And Peter said we have it
- 48:00because it's it's the fulfillment of prophecy.
- 48:03We have it because it's fully disclosed to the whole world.
- 48:06Anybody can possess this joy. We have it because it brings
- 48:09transformation, that change in our lives.
- 48:13Therefore, you know what is. What is the big So what?
- 48:17In this entire message, here's what the So what is to me?
- 48:20I don't have to fear in a world full of fear because I've been
- 48:24saved through faith in Jesus Christ.
- 48:28Amen. I don't have to fear, you know,
- 48:32think about the fires and Maui and different things going on in
- 48:35the world. And Jesus said in the world we
- 48:38will have tribulation. But behold, I've overcome the
- 48:40world, and because we have salvation in Him, we are
- 48:43overcomers through Him. Because we have salvation in
- 48:46Him, we do not need to fear this word, declares and Isaiah
- 48:51chapter 43, and we will close with these verses.
- 48:56The Lord says to us, Fear not, for I have redeemed you, I have
- 49:00saved you, I have called you by your name.
- 49:04You know He calls you by your name and and your name.
- 49:07He knows everything about you, and yet He still calls you.
- 49:11I've called you by your name. You are mine.
- 49:15He's not ashamed of you. You belong to him.
- 49:20When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and
- 49:24through the rivers they shall not overflow you.
- 49:28When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor
- 49:33shall the flame scorch you. For I am the Lord your God.
- 49:39The holy one of Israel, your favor.
- 49:44Amen. Praise this holy name.
- 49:46Thank you, Father. Thank you, Lord.
- 49:52If you are here today, you do not know Jesus Christ is your
- 49:55Lord and Savior. Today is your day to guarantee
- 49:58that your appointment would be one of salvation and not one of
- 50:02rest by opening your heart to Jesus right now where you're
- 50:05seated, bow your head and simply repeat this prayer up to me to
- 50:08give your life to Christ to receive Him as your Lord and
- 50:11Savior. Simply say Lord Jesus, I
- 50:13believe. You are the Son of God.
- 50:16I believe you died for all of my sins, and I believe that you
- 50:21were risen from the dead. Forgive me for my sins.
- 50:25Come into my life and change me. I receive you today as my Lord.
- 50:32It has my Savior in Jesus name. Amen.
- 50:37If you prayed that prayer, the Bible says that you're a new
- 50:40creation in Christ. All things have passed away.
- 50:43Behold, all things become brand new.
- 50:44There will be people after the service or doing this last song.
- 50:48You can come down and meet with them.
- 50:49They'll be standing here at the stage to give you some
- 50:52information to help you to continue to grow in the Lord or
- 50:54just to pray with you. God bless you.
- 50:55Thank you. See you next time.
