- 0:29Speaker 1: We were just having a little Birds conversation. By the way,
- 0:33Speaker 1: the trade for Andy Dalton has become official. He is
- 0:36Speaker 1: now a Philadelphia Eagle. Adam Kaplan, haven't talked to you
- 0:39Speaker 1: in a while, man, how you been Hold on one second?
- 0:45Speaker 3: Hello?
- 0:46Speaker 2: There you go, There you go. Josh is having a
- 0:48Speaker 2: phenomenal day today. By the way, he's walking out the building.
- 0:51Speaker 2: He's uh, yeah, all right, how are.
- 0:54Speaker 3: You be good? So with Andy Dalton, you should know this, Mike.
- 0:57Speaker 3: He was very close to being Eagles number two quarterback
- 0:59Speaker 3: three years ago. So Howie Rosemonds always liked him. He
- 1:02Speaker 3: just for family considerations, as I understood it, Then he
- 1:06Speaker 3: chose the Panthers over the Eagles. How he got his
- 1:09Speaker 3: guy and he'll be the number three quarterback. So that's now.
- 1:12Speaker 3: Obviously it gives some flexibility if they wind up trading McKee,
- 1:15Speaker 3: then he becomes the number two.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I was gonna say, does that Does that give
- 1:19Speaker 1: you There was a report from Rich Samini that the
- 1:21Speaker 1: Phillies had asked for a two for McKey. Do you
- 1:24Speaker 1: think because it's a weak quarterback draft, that there's a
- 1:27Speaker 1: chance that people start.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Calling for him?
- 1:29Speaker 3: Absolutely? Now, now I would. I would caution Mike it
- 1:34Speaker 3: Rich is an old friend of mine. I didn't see riches.
- 1:36Speaker 3: I know it's out there. I would be stunned if
- 1:40Speaker 3: the Eagles trade gave away McKey for the last pick
- 1:42Speaker 3: of you know, it's one thing if you're getting they're
- 1:44Speaker 3: getting a top second round pick. I don't see them
- 1:48Speaker 3: get trading away McKee for a late second round pick.
- 1:52Speaker 3: I could change my mind based on what I would hear,
- 1:55Speaker 3: just knowing how they liked that player. I just I'd
- 1:58Speaker 3: be surprised.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Right, Let's dive into some fun stuff this offseason, because
- 2:04Speaker 1: the kind of free agency is over all over the
- 2:06Speaker 1: Eagles that were busy last week while I was away.
- 2:08Speaker 1: They decided to get a little busy again last week.
- 2:11Speaker 1: So where do the sportsbook see the Eagles right now
- 2:14Speaker 1: after kind of the first three weeks of free agency.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Here Eagles win total for the twenty twenty six season
- 2:22Speaker 1: pre draft, they are currently ten and a half. That's
- 2:26Speaker 1: still a pretty nice number there.
- 2:28Speaker 3: Well, Mike, here's the thing though. The over, now, this
- 2:30Speaker 3: is telling me something and I'll explain in the second.
- 2:33Speaker 3: The over that means eleven wins or more is plus
- 2:36Speaker 3: one o five. So the money now is on the
- 2:39Speaker 3: ounder minus one twenty five. So it's simple. AJ Brown.
- 2:43Speaker 3: If you could tell me AJ Brown's going to be
- 2:45Speaker 3: the team this fall, I'm taking over. That's how much
- 2:49Speaker 3: AJ Brown means to this offense. If he's gone, there's
- 2:54Speaker 3: nobody in free agency could replace them. Now, they can
- 2:57Speaker 3: make a trade to replace them, or they could have
- 3:00Speaker 3: to replace him, but that guy would be a rookie.
- 3:02Speaker 3: Mic So I would have to say it's reasonable to
- 3:05Speaker 3: think the under right now?
- 3:06Speaker 2: Wow?
- 3:07Speaker 1: All right, so ten and a half take the under,
- 3:10Speaker 1: which is interesting. We were just having the conversation about
- 3:12Speaker 1: the whole AJ Brown thing. Like I asked Jeff yesterday.
- 3:16Speaker 1: The Eagles enter this season with thought that they are
- 3:19Speaker 1: a legitimate Super Bowl contenders?
- 3:21Speaker 2: Do they not?
- 3:22Speaker 3: Yes?
- 3:22Speaker 1: So if that's the case, how do you trade aj
- 3:25Speaker 1: Brown away and not get anything to help this year's team?
- 3:30Speaker 3: Well, again, if it happens on June second, Right, let's
- 3:34Speaker 3: say they have an agreement, but they for cap purposes
- 3:36Speaker 3: they want they won't be official to June second. How
- 3:39Speaker 3: we will have this worked out. He'll know exactly what
- 3:42Speaker 3: he's going to do to replace him, and he'll have
- 3:46Speaker 3: he'll have a plan. And remember, Mike, as of now,
- 3:50Speaker 3: they've got nine draft picks, they may have more. Doing
- 3:53Speaker 3: the draft. We always have to understand that the draft
- 3:56Speaker 3: is never about one year. It's about long term. It's
- 3:59Speaker 3: about years two through five. You hope more than that.
- 4:02Speaker 3: But how he would have a plan now, it's fair
- 4:05Speaker 3: to question it. As I just brought up a couple
- 4:07Speaker 3: of minutes ago, there's no one in free Deebo Samuel's
- 4:10Speaker 3: is the best guy out there, but he doesn't even
- 4:12Speaker 3: play he doesn't play the same way, he doesn't play
- 4:14Speaker 3: the same position. He's just completely in a different way.
- 4:17Speaker 3: He's played in a West Coast offents and he's an
- 4:18Speaker 3: older player by the way. He's older than AJ Brown.
- 4:22Speaker 3: It was not a big injury history, but Howie would
- 4:25Speaker 3: have it. Howie would have somebody to do it. Now.
- 4:28Speaker 3: On your point, though, you would think without knowing names,
- 4:31Speaker 3: that would be taking somewhat of a step back there.
- 4:34Speaker 3: But again, we haven't even gotten to the draft yet.
- 4:36Speaker 3: And that's why I wanted to talk about this today
- 4:39Speaker 3: because you're seeing the way sportsbooks look at this right now.
- 4:42Speaker 1: All right, let's look at the other teams now, Dallas
- 4:46Speaker 1: who interesting offseason so far, kind of been a little
- 4:49Speaker 1: quiet over there. They've lost some things in Dallas. But
- 4:53Speaker 1: eight and a half is the number for the Cowboys
- 4:56Speaker 1: like this one.
- 4:57Speaker 3: Okay, I'm not sure. I don't really know why, but
- 5:03Speaker 3: the money is on the a lot of people there.
- 5:06Speaker 3: I didn't get the I don't know, I didn't get
- 5:07Speaker 3: the opening line for this. But the over eight and
- 5:10Speaker 3: a half is minus one forty five. So the money now,
- 5:12Speaker 3: people think it's going to go over. The books certainly
- 5:15Speaker 3: do because it's minus one forty five. The owners plus
- 5:17Speaker 3: one twenty. They totally choked last season. Okay, George Pickens
- 5:21Speaker 3: is going to be back. I mean that's certainly a
- 5:22Speaker 3: big thing. They've got offensive line problems. Okay, so they've
- 5:27Speaker 3: they're changing their defense with Christian Parker. They're gonna run
- 5:31Speaker 3: a thirty four. They've got problems on the secondary. I
- 5:34Speaker 3: like the under. Take the under now it's plus one twenty.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Ah, all right, there you go, wake the money on
- 5:39Speaker 1: that one. Washington was everybody's darling last year, Adam. Now
- 5:43Speaker 1: all of a sudden, it looks like the same old Commanders.
- 5:48Speaker 1: The sports books look at Washington as a seven and
- 5:51Speaker 1: a half over under.
- 5:52Speaker 3: Yeah, the over is minus one twenty, the owners plus
- 5:55Speaker 3: one hundred. Mike, they had a massive amount of top
- 5:59Speaker 3: three injury team last season. They've been fairly aggressive and
- 6:04Speaker 3: free agency. They've resigned certain players. They had a lot
- 6:06Speaker 3: of help on defense. I'll the over is the play.
- 6:11Speaker 3: It's minus one twenty. I would actually agree with that.
- 6:13Speaker 3: And then finally, Mike, in the division, the Giants are
- 6:15Speaker 3: seven and a half. I've been wrong on the hardball
- 6:18Speaker 3: Brothers for years. I like the over right now. The
- 6:22Speaker 3: over seven and a half is plus one hundred. We
- 6:24Speaker 3: don't even know what the schedule looks like other than
- 6:25Speaker 3: who we know they're playing and the others minus one twenty.
- 6:28Speaker 1: I like the over all, right, I likes the over
- 6:31Speaker 1: on the Washington Commanders.
- 6:33Speaker 2: All right, the Giants and the Giants to me on
- 6:35Speaker 2: the Giants, Yes, the Giants. I was gonna say.
- 6:37Speaker 1: The Giants seem to be a team that a lot
- 6:39Speaker 1: of people are starting to buzz on because of the
- 6:41Speaker 1: hardball thing here, and they've made some sneaky moves. So
- 6:44Speaker 1: seven and a half on the Washington Commanders, seven and
- 6:47Speaker 1: a half on the Giants, and you have plus one hundred.
- 6:49Speaker 2: You're going over on the Giants.
- 6:51Speaker 3: Yeah, I love the Giant. I do. I missed on
- 6:53Speaker 3: his brother the eight and a half. I'll never forget it.
- 6:57Speaker 3: With my time on sports Grid. I told h for us,
- 7:00Speaker 3: there's no way. The roster isn't very good. And I've
- 7:03Speaker 3: learned my lesson never underestimate the value of coaching and
- 7:06Speaker 3: John Harble's trumess coach. I like the over, Oh yeah,
- 7:09Speaker 3: I like the plus one hundred there.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely, they're gonna be interesting. They're gonna be interesting.
- 7:14Speaker 1: All right, So Eagles to make the playoffs. You got
- 7:16Speaker 1: four teams there. The Eagles have ten and a half
- 7:18Speaker 1: over under. Everybody else is under the nine and a half,
- 7:22Speaker 1: which means it sounds like only one team in the
- 7:23Speaker 1: division makes the playoffs. Eagles though, to make the playoffs, yes,
- 7:28Speaker 1: minus two hundred, No, plus one sixty five.
- 7:31Speaker 3: Like the Eagles, and the minus two hundred to make it.
- 7:34Speaker 3: I know that's a big number to give up. I'm
- 7:36Speaker 3: saying this without knowing for sure. A. J. Brown's could
- 7:38Speaker 3: be traded. We don't know yet. And you made a
- 7:41Speaker 3: fair point about the plan. We don't know what the
- 7:43Speaker 3: plan would be to replace them. I just you know,
- 7:45Speaker 3: I've been telling you for months now. There's not much
- 7:46Speaker 3: out there. It would be no one to replace them.
- 7:48Speaker 3: It's even gotten thinner. But the change and coordinator, which
- 7:52Speaker 3: we didn't mention Sean, I mean Sean Manny, and I'm
- 7:55Speaker 3: very bullish on We'll say. I'm saying this now in March,
- 7:59Speaker 3: and he could be a disaster. But I don't see
- 8:00Speaker 3: it that way. I don't see it. I just don't.
- 8:02Speaker 3: I think he's going to do a much better job
- 8:04Speaker 3: than his predecessor.
- 8:04Speaker 1: I like these the Eagles to win the NFC East
- 8:07Speaker 1: plus one oh five Dallas plus two thirty commanders plus
- 8:11Speaker 1: five hundred. Would you dare take the Giants a plus
- 8:14Speaker 1: seven hundred?
- 8:15Speaker 3: Yes, I would, which is crazy that it's a good
- 8:20Speaker 3: bet right now. I honestly think the odds are going
- 8:23Speaker 3: to get smaller for the Giants and they're going to
- 8:24Speaker 3: be a hype machine team. Again. I'm saying this in March,
- 8:27Speaker 3: late March, as it as it were. I really believe,
- 8:30Speaker 3: Mike that you're gonna hit. You're just the John Harble
- 8:34Speaker 3: hype machine is going to be there. I've this guy's
- 8:37Speaker 3: a Super Bowl winning head coach. He's a really good coach.
- 8:39Speaker 3: I know it didn't end well for him. It doesn't
- 8:42Speaker 3: mean the guy can't coach. He's a good coach. And
- 8:44Speaker 3: maybe they shock the world. That's one I look of
- 8:47Speaker 3: all the numbers out there, the Eagles are plus one
- 8:49Speaker 3: oh five. If you like the Eagles take them now.
- 8:51Speaker 3: I kind of like the Giants and plus seven hundred
- 8:53Speaker 3: to shot the world.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Yeah, that would be the long shot there, all right,
- 8:56Speaker 1: Eagles to win the NFC Conference. This one a little
- 9:00Speaker 1: more interesting because they're at plus eight hundred now. They
- 9:03Speaker 1: seemingly are falling back to the pack as opposed to
- 9:06Speaker 1: leading the pack.
- 9:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:09Speaker 3: The thing is, it's not just a J Brown, right,
- 9:12Speaker 3: It's what the heck happened to their offensive line. We've
- 9:15Speaker 3: talked about him many times, but we still don't know
- 9:17Speaker 3: for sure. Was it just age injuries that's concerning Barkley's
- 9:22Speaker 3: at n a year older, good hearts, rebound. Egles have
- 9:24Speaker 3: a ton of questions, not so many on defense other
- 9:28Speaker 3: than safety and corner. We know that they're great at
- 9:31Speaker 3: d tackle. They're going to be good at linebacker. Mitchell's
- 9:34Speaker 3: the stud, de Jeans the stud. We just don't know
- 9:36Speaker 3: about who's going to play next to Makuba. Conreek Wollen
- 9:40Speaker 3: is going to make twelve million this season. Can I
- 9:42Speaker 3: revive his career? He certainly did end well with the Seahawks.
- 9:45Speaker 1: All right, let's look at the Eagles to win the
- 9:48Speaker 1: Super Bowl? Where are they on that hierarchy.
- 9:51Speaker 3: All of a sudden, Yeah, plus fifteen hundred. I'd make
- 9:55Speaker 3: him a longer. I would make him a longer long shot.
- 9:59Speaker 3: I just I don't see it. But again, we're in
- 10:01Speaker 3: We're in late March, Mike. It's fun to do these now.
- 10:05Speaker 3: I wanted to. It was my idea to do these,
- 10:07Speaker 3: and I love talking about this. I need to get
- 10:10Speaker 3: through the draft and obviously, well, one of the things
- 10:13Speaker 3: we'll do after the draft is we're gonna look at
- 10:14Speaker 3: their odds because we're talking about this now four weeks away.
- 10:18Speaker 3: Let they're fifteen hundred, right, they're plus fifteen hundred. They
- 10:22Speaker 3: maybe plus twelve fifteen. They may be plus a stout
- 10:25Speaker 3: depends AJ Brown. What the draft looks like to me.
- 10:29Speaker 1: All right, let's go to some fun ones here. Who's
- 10:33Speaker 1: on the MVP list and where are they?
- 10:35Speaker 3: I love this one. Jalen Hurts plus thirty five hundred.
- 10:39Speaker 3: Excuse me, the same odds as bow Nixt. Really I couldn't.
- 10:44Speaker 3: But when I saw that, by the way, I was like,
- 10:46Speaker 3: we have to talk about this bow Nick. Come on, man,
- 10:48Speaker 3: I mean, I look, well again, if AJ Brown's gone,
- 10:56Speaker 3: it hurts us. Odds have to be worse. But that's
- 10:59Speaker 3: a prime thirty five hundred, I get it. That's where
- 11:01Speaker 3: that is, all right.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Defensive Player of the Year. Who are the candidates?
- 11:07Speaker 3: All right? So last one for the Eagles, Jalen Carter's
- 11:10Speaker 3: plus twenty five hundred, the gene and Quinney on Mitchell
- 11:14Speaker 3: plus sixty six hundred. I couldn't believe it. Zach Bond's
- 11:17Speaker 3: numbers out there plus twelve thousand, five hundred, which is comical.
- 11:21Speaker 3: All right, the of one, two, three four players, Zach
- 11:26Speaker 3: Bond just is just unappreciated. He's not gonna win it
- 11:28Speaker 3: because people don't know about him. The media outside this market,
- 11:33Speaker 3: nobody follows. The media has no idea what Zach Bond is.
- 11:36Speaker 3: We do Jalen Carter had both, you know, he had
- 11:39Speaker 3: the shoulder issue. I would take Dejeene and plus sixty
- 11:43Speaker 3: six hundred because of his ability to play multiple positions.
- 11:45Speaker 1: See I like a Dejene and plus sixty six hundred
- 11:48Speaker 1: are such good odds. But the real one Jalen Carter.
- 11:52Speaker 1: I mean, you've seen Aaron Donald win this award. I
- 11:55Speaker 1: could see that position, you know, being a factor. And
- 11:58Speaker 1: that's why I think Carter plus twenty five one hundred
- 12:00Speaker 1: gives you good enough value to do it.
- 12:01Speaker 3: He does, Mike, but the problem is the shoulders he
- 12:04Speaker 3: dropped off last season. Could he be the same Cooper Degene?
- 12:09Speaker 3: The good thing is the national media knows right and
- 12:13Speaker 3: it's you know, it's a Associated Press award, I believe,
- 12:17Speaker 3: so those guys know. Like those guys the Associated Press
- 12:21Speaker 3: writers know who Cooper de Gene is. Okay, they know
- 12:24Speaker 3: he's a stud. They don't know other than Rob Moddy,
- 12:27Speaker 3: who's covered the Eagles for He's great because he covered
- 12:29Speaker 3: he knows the Eagles, but most of these guys don't.
- 12:31Speaker 3: They don't know exact bonuts we do, but most of
- 12:34Speaker 3: the national media does not.
- 12:35Speaker 1: All right, Adam Kaplan, there we go. It should be fun.
- 12:38Speaker 1: We are in the draft. We're within a month now,
- 12:41Speaker 1: so we'll start to take a look at the draft.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Did any else thing else the Eagles might do? Hey,
- 12:45Speaker 1: do they go out and get that edge rusher? Still
- 12:47Speaker 1: it's something they still need to target.
- 12:49Speaker 3: Right, they're on it. They're on a trust men, that one.
- 12:51Speaker 3: They're on it.
- 12:52Speaker 1: Maybe by Friday we shall see Adams back then. Thanks man,
- 12:55Speaker 1: Adam Kaplan from the Inside the Birds Podcast
