- 1:55Speaker 1: So Filthy Rich for people who are not familiar with
- 1:57Speaker 1: Filthy Rich is a I would just say, an independent
- 2:02Speaker 1: juggernaut from the Bay Area. He has put out I mean,
- 2:07Speaker 1: in the interview he told us he's put out over
- 2:09Speaker 1: one hundred projects, which is crazy to think, right, but
- 2:13Speaker 1: you know the guy. You know, whether or not you're
- 2:15Speaker 1: a fan of his music. I think this podcast is dope,
- 2:19Speaker 1: great conversation, probably the best Filthy Rich interview that's ever
- 2:23Speaker 1: been recorded, because I've interviewed Filthy before in the past
- 2:25Speaker 1: that it was less the Desira boom. So he was
- 2:27Speaker 1: super engaged during this interview, talked a lot about his
- 2:30Speaker 1: independent hustle, and I just think it was a great conversation, man,
- 2:34Speaker 1: So shout out to Filthy Rich's new album is out.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Like I said, even if you're not a fan of
- 2:39Speaker 1: his music, this is a dope conversation. Nonetheless, we're gonna
- 2:44Speaker 1: be doing another podcast on Wednesday that's not going to
- 2:49Speaker 1: be interview based, so that's dropping Wednesday, And like I said,
- 2:54Speaker 1: tons of good stuff in the worst for the bootleg
- 2:56Speaker 1: kV podcast, big, big, big thank you to everyone who's
- 2:59Speaker 1: been listening, everyone who's been tagging me on Twitter, tagging
- 3:03Speaker 1: me on Instagram. Got a ton of love from the
- 3:05Speaker 1: Chappelle Lacy episode. Shout out to Chappelle. Gonna try to
- 3:10Speaker 1: like work him in as like a regular guest. Low Key.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Also getting a lot of love from the Benny the
- 3:15Speaker 1: Butcher interview from last week. Shout out to Benny the whole, Griselda,
- 3:20Speaker 1: and Yeah, super excited for the future of the podcast.
- 3:24Speaker 1: And I just want to really really say I appreciate
- 3:26Speaker 1: everybody who listens to shit means a lot. We're gonna
- 3:29Speaker 1: keep it going. We ain't slowing down. And let's get
- 3:31Speaker 1: into the Filthy Rich Interview podcast officially COVID Free. Y'all
- 3:36Speaker 1: caught that coronavirus. Filthy Rich? You did? Yeah, I'm like,
- 3:39Speaker 1: you know what happened? No? No, you good? I'm good.
- 3:42Speaker 1: I got two negative tests. I respect it, man, But
- 3:46Speaker 1: you know what happened. Bro. Remember when you was out
- 3:49Speaker 1: in Asy and I was out Inzy and we was
- 3:51Speaker 1: texting each other. I was out there, you know, deep
- 3:56Speaker 1: and some shit. You know what I'm saying, d jye
- 3:59Speaker 1: And oh yeah, I was doing it. So I was
- 4:01Speaker 1: running up a bag. No exactly. Well, yeah, everybody out
- 4:05Speaker 1: there got that ship was running up many salute to
- 4:09Speaker 1: Arizona man. But yeah, we got Filthy Rich in the building.
- 4:13Speaker 1: You got a new album out? How many albums is
- 4:16Speaker 1: this for you? Officially? Oh shit, I don't know. You
- 4:21Speaker 1: don't know how? Like? What what number album this is?
- 4:25Speaker 1: I mean we're past like ten at least? What are
- 4:28Speaker 1: we like fifteen? Twenty dropped twelve in a year? Oh Jesus,
- 4:32Speaker 1: so are we are we north of past one? Hundred.
- 4:35Speaker 1: You're past one hundred albums, one hundred projects, one hundred
- 4:40Speaker 1: projects for sure. Are all those on the DSPs or
- 4:44Speaker 1: just some of those like in like on DAP piff
- 4:45Speaker 1: or like are they all on Spotify? That's crazy. By
- 4:51Speaker 1: the way, shout out to Brian Samson for being loud
- 4:53Speaker 1: of shit in the background. Yeah, I've been pasted on
- 4:55Speaker 1: un that's crazy. When do you remember the year that
- 4:59Speaker 1: you put your first project out? My first project that
- 5:02Speaker 1: went like online and everything was on two thousand and eight.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Damn twelve years. You don't have to wear the mask.
- 5:09Speaker 1: I don't have the runa bro. I took two tests.
- 5:12Speaker 1: I took two. If I get him, I leave here.
- 5:14Speaker 1: I got double negative. I'm gonna have Empire invoice you.
- 5:17Speaker 1: All right? All right? Speaking of Empire, So I listen
- 5:20Speaker 1: to the album Man Dope Body of Work. Do you
- 5:23Speaker 1: feel like this is like a like the coronavirus everything
- 5:29Speaker 1: has been going on. I feel like you. It feels
- 5:30Speaker 1: like you took a lot of time on this project, Like, uh,
- 5:34Speaker 1: it felt real personal too. It is because of the title,
- 5:39Speaker 1: like it's kind of like the sequel to Fake Love
- 5:41Speaker 1: and then No Real Hate. But I feel like the
- 5:44Speaker 1: previous project, Hometown hero before that was like that also,
- 5:48Speaker 1: like I feel like you like like vulnerable on this album.
- 5:51Speaker 1: I feel like on Hometown Heroes like that too. I'm
- 5:54Speaker 1: just growing, you know. You know, we're growing every day
- 5:59Speaker 1: and going through different thing. So I mean me as
- 6:01Speaker 1: an artist, I've been just like giving you me like
- 6:07Speaker 1: what I'm going through, how I'm feeling. So it just
- 6:11Speaker 1: that and then another thing too, you know, we grow
- 6:12Speaker 1: as artists every day as we gain new fan base
- 6:15Speaker 1: every day too, so maybe more people might be more
- 6:18Speaker 1: be tuning in more lately and just probably just missed
- 6:21Speaker 1: out on the past stuff. I think it's dope that independently,
- 6:29Speaker 1: what you've built over the last twelve years, it's very impressive.
- 6:33Speaker 1: I'm sure that there's opportunities for you to, you know,
- 6:36Speaker 1: go to major label out plenty of times I'm curious
- 6:39Speaker 1: what they want. They want everything, of course they do.
- 6:43Speaker 1: I had a few interviews whatever, and they was like
- 6:46Speaker 1: they wanted whole catalog and merge touring and all that,
- 6:53Speaker 1: we want to cut it all everything, And I'm like, well,
- 6:55Speaker 1: I didn't know y'all in two thousand and eight, right
- 6:57Speaker 1: right right right far from here on up right even forward. Yeah,
- 7:01Speaker 1: like we I can't do that. I can't take down
- 7:04Speaker 1: what I already built up and then give it to you.
- 7:06Speaker 1: And then just so happened, I didn't do it, and
- 7:08Speaker 1: then Corona hit. I would have been asked out. So
- 7:10Speaker 1: that was something that was recently them. I mean, it
- 7:13Speaker 1: made a few times, but yet the last one was
- 7:15Speaker 1: right before. Can you tell us who it was with
- 7:17Speaker 1: rock Nation? So rock Nation was was was trying to
- 7:20Speaker 1: do business with Filthy Rich and they, Yeah, I had
- 7:22Speaker 1: I had a mean sat down out here, and that
- 7:26Speaker 1: was something that it looked like it would have been
- 7:29Speaker 1: like more of a three sixty situation like they were
- 7:31Speaker 1: they were gonna want a piece of everything you had
- 7:32Speaker 1: going on, including your old catalog everything. Yeah, see that
- 7:37Speaker 1: that doesn't make sense, like you said, from here forward. Yeah,
- 7:41Speaker 1: from me having an independent mindset, like I'm seeing money
- 7:46Speaker 1: off digital, you know, and royalties and sound and change
- 7:49Speaker 1: and ass cap and YouTube or whatever. So it's like, okay,
- 7:52Speaker 1: I gotta give y'all all of this. I don't even
- 7:54Speaker 1: know y'all, Like I don't know what you're about to
- 7:56Speaker 1: do for me or not gonna do for me, you
- 7:59Speaker 1: know what I'm saying so I'm making a chance as
- 8:02Speaker 1: in believing in y'all and hoping that y'all are going
- 8:06Speaker 1: to do something. If y'all don't, then I'm just out
- 8:08Speaker 1: of paid y'all already. Yeah, and then you're like you're
- 8:10Speaker 1: you're left with less than you had before. Who Now,
- 8:14Speaker 1: obviously you know everyone associates Rock Nation would whole like,
- 8:17Speaker 1: who was it that initially worked? Like? It was it
- 8:19Speaker 1: like do you know if like jay Z was aware
- 8:21Speaker 1: of like your what you got going on? Or because
- 8:23Speaker 1: you know they have their own an rs and their
- 8:25Speaker 1: own people, and it was it was the rock Nation management.
- 8:29Speaker 1: It wasn't the label side got you, but they was
- 8:32Speaker 1: willing to bring me to a label and it was
- 8:36Speaker 1: I mean it it's no like bad Blood or anything,
- 8:38Speaker 1: of course not. No. I mean, look, people, you should
- 8:41Speaker 1: always take every meeting. I take that to everybody. But
- 8:44Speaker 1: his name is Daniel actually the Lion spaper dad, Oh
- 8:47Speaker 1: that's what's up? Yeah, man, that's crazy because Daniel though
- 8:51Speaker 1: even just believing in me, want to sit down talk
- 8:54Speaker 1: to me, like he came to my neighborhood, like he
- 8:56Speaker 1: came to I think at least party album least party
- 9:01Speaker 1: or I had going on. He tapped in. He really
- 9:04Speaker 1: came to the hood. THEAP was really trying to Yeah,
- 9:05Speaker 1: and I had a video shoot out here and Inglewood
- 9:07Speaker 1: he came through, so he really was rocking with me though,
- 9:10Speaker 1: and I just talked. I just talked to him to
- 9:11Speaker 1: the Actually that's so. But I want to talk about
- 9:14Speaker 1: your like, like, because a lot of people who are
- 9:16Speaker 1: watching this might not be necessarily familiar with who Filthy
- 9:19Speaker 1: Rich is. Like, obviously you've been doing this for a
- 9:21Speaker 1: long time independently from Oakland the like, I feel like
- 9:25Speaker 1: there's something about the Bay Area and independence. They go
- 9:28Speaker 1: hand in hand. It's been like that forever, like since
- 9:33Speaker 1: since they say Master peve been out there, you know
- 9:35Speaker 1: what I'm saying, giving out the game, all the older
- 9:38Speaker 1: older guys been you know, with the independent route. Because
- 9:41Speaker 1: I guess it's just something that just like grew from
- 9:44Speaker 1: there to how I'll see it because like everywhere I
- 9:46Speaker 1: go anywhere else, they not really hip to it. True,
- 9:50Speaker 1: they're not really hip to it like they were more
- 9:52Speaker 1: like hell labeled this is this and all that. So
- 9:54Speaker 1: it's like and then like a lot of people when
- 9:57Speaker 1: they think of California, they don't think of Oakland, think
- 10:00Speaker 1: of La. Yeah, like, yeah, man, I'm about to come
- 10:02Speaker 1: to California. IM about to come with us. You can
- 10:03Speaker 1: get a deal. I'm like, man, ain't no labels out here.
- 10:06Speaker 1: The Empire the best thing going on right in the
- 10:09Speaker 1: Bay Area. So I'm like, you mean you're going to
- 10:11Speaker 1: La or something like right, right right, it ain't the same.
- 10:13Speaker 1: This is one of the biggest states of the hood.
- 10:19Speaker 1: So when it comes to your strategy, Like, I'm curious
- 10:23Speaker 1: because I feel like a lot of artists who are
- 10:26Speaker 1: watching this are probably real Like most people, man, Brian
- 10:32Speaker 1: Samson bro never ceases to fucking amaze me anyway, I
- 10:38Speaker 1: feel like a lot of artists are obviously, if presented
- 10:42Speaker 1: with any record deal, would just take it. Like I'm
- 10:44Speaker 1: talking about like used to say they got a record right, right,
- 10:47Speaker 1: And it's kind of different when you getting money already, true,
- 10:51Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So it's like a lot
- 10:53Speaker 1: of these like I was just talking a lot of
- 10:56Speaker 1: these people, it's like, you're not fee the record me
- 10:58Speaker 1: and nobody go check out the podcastles you got something
- 11:01Speaker 1: to do with it? Or I mean that's not I mean,
- 11:03Speaker 1: that's not necessarily true. I mean I got homies that
- 11:05Speaker 1: do for me to give somebody else if this is
- 11:07Speaker 1: how you can pay. So a lot of artists they're
- 11:09Speaker 1: nothing to recommend another artist to get signed, knowing that
- 11:13Speaker 1: this person can be bigger than them, can take from them.
- 11:16Speaker 1: They have nothing to do with it unless they got
- 11:18Speaker 1: unless they co sign or sign to them. So especially
- 11:21Speaker 1: like if your artist has coming in and you already
- 11:25Speaker 1: you know, up to they level. There are situations, but
- 11:28Speaker 1: they're very few and far between where where there's some
- 11:30Speaker 1: genuine like you know, I got some genuine people. Yeah, yeah,
- 11:33Speaker 1: but the ones I've met, like you know, I mean,
- 11:35Speaker 1: it's the rap industry, this the game, so everybody looking
- 11:38Speaker 1: for it come up. This guy might be not popping
- 11:41Speaker 1: into music, but he got ties and connections with a
- 11:43Speaker 1: whole different you know, with what you need. So he's like, okay, man,
- 11:47Speaker 1: you gotta sign to me and I bring you up here,
- 11:50Speaker 1: or we gotta you gotta sign our management, you gotta
- 11:51Speaker 1: sign on our label. Whatever. So would you suggest artists
- 11:55Speaker 1: to stay independent and just you know, because like I'm
- 11:59Speaker 1: assuming at what point in time because if you started
- 12:03Speaker 1: in oh wait, I would say, like, at what point
- 12:05Speaker 1: in time were you making like real money off a rap.
- 12:09Speaker 1: What took a minute because it don't happen right away.
- 12:13Speaker 1: I was just talking to my bro Neft yesterday and
- 12:15Speaker 1: he was telling me about he had checked his dash
- 12:18Speaker 1: for that empire and he had like two hundred dollars
- 12:20Speaker 1: on it, and I was like, bro, you only put
- 12:22Speaker 1: out one song. You know what I'm saying. So I'm like,
- 12:25Speaker 1: it took a while. Like I used to give my
- 12:28Speaker 1: fifty dollars to go pay my metro bill. I be
- 12:30Speaker 1: with it. But the more I put out, I started
- 12:33Speaker 1: noticing more money. So that's that's what the independent game
- 12:36Speaker 1: came from. Like okay, man, So I'm looking at like
- 12:38Speaker 1: the catalog, keep me yeah, at the dope game, like
- 12:40Speaker 1: the like the CDs is the dope now, you know
- 12:43Speaker 1: what I'm saying. So the more I put out, the
- 12:44Speaker 1: more money I get. So it took for me to
- 12:46Speaker 1: go up there one day not to empire to a
- 12:48Speaker 1: different company. While back and I was they had to
- 12:51Speaker 1: check for me for five g's wow. And somebody I
- 12:54Speaker 1: was with was another artist and he was like, man,
- 12:57Speaker 1: how he get that? Like he was like, man, got
- 13:00Speaker 1: he's been dropping. He's been dropping. So I've seen that.
- 13:04Speaker 1: I've just been on it has that because I feel
- 13:07Speaker 1: like that still holds true now in the streaming era,
- 13:10Speaker 1: where like the more you drop, the more your Spotify
- 13:12Speaker 1: builds up. Like you know what I'm saying, Like, I mean,
- 13:16Speaker 1: like my biggest iTunes check like seventy five thousand. That's crazy.
- 13:20Speaker 1: That's for a month. Yeah wow, like once once it generates,
- 13:27Speaker 1: you know, it went from ten twenty fifty. That's crazy.
- 13:33Speaker 1: It was thirty at one point, and it goes up.
- 13:36Speaker 1: And that's when you get that call from Ghazi and
- 13:38Speaker 1: be like, hey, let me get this big old bag upfront.
- 13:42Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. I wanted to ask you
- 13:44Speaker 1: about there's a line on the intro where you say
- 13:46Speaker 1: the ops you're on the same label as the ops.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Now obviously you're on the empire. Our empire's got probably
- 13:54Speaker 1: they distributed so may like three thousand artists. I was
- 13:56Speaker 1: about to say it it's a lot, but I took
- 14:00Speaker 1: that at like what like what like I don't know
- 14:03Speaker 1: who all your ops are obviously, but I kind of
- 14:06Speaker 1: took that as like, Okay, is this Mazi thing is
- 14:07Speaker 1: still going on? Because I mean both both you and
- 14:10Speaker 1: MASI are both marquee artists and Empire uh now at
- 14:14Speaker 1: that time being, I wasn't even talking about him, okay,
- 14:17Speaker 1: because it's a lot of people at Empire that I
- 14:22Speaker 1: don't I'm fool with. Okay, So so those holiday parties
- 14:26Speaker 1: are interesting, Yeah, yo, I can't imagine that'd be interesting.
- 14:32Speaker 1: The last one was interesting. I didn't even see anybody,
- 14:37Speaker 1: I'm sure out of respect though, for like the company
- 14:39Speaker 1: and for Gazi, like it's yeah, yeah, me and gods
- 14:40Speaker 1: you talking. I'm gonna keep it real like like like
- 14:43Speaker 1: that situation is just like some rap shit or whatever.
- 14:46Speaker 1: But it never went further than that. But Ghazi has
- 14:52Speaker 1: tried to play a big part in it, like suicide
- 14:55Speaker 1: and out of respect for him. You know, a lot
- 14:57Speaker 1: of things have been I feel like you two had
- 15:00Speaker 1: I had obviously some genuine love for each other at
- 15:02Speaker 1: a point in time in your life. That was the
- 15:03Speaker 1: whole point, right, that was the whole point. Like I
- 15:06Speaker 1: genuinely fucked with you. Yeah. A lot of people learned
- 15:09Speaker 1: of Mazi from you. Yeah. Yeah, so I genuinely fucked
- 15:12Speaker 1: with an Apparently you genuinely did so well. I mean,
- 15:16Speaker 1: you know, look, at the end of the day, I
- 15:18Speaker 1: feel like it's like beating a dead horse. Yeah, no, no,
- 15:20Speaker 1: I mean, you've talked about it a lot, but this
- 15:22Speaker 1: that line. I mean, he has also not might not
- 15:25Speaker 1: be vocal, like in interviews or whatever. I don't know
- 15:27Speaker 1: if they asked or say not to speak about it.
- 15:31Speaker 1: But I wasn't gonna speak about it. And then I
- 15:33Speaker 1: heard the album. I was like, I gotta at least
- 15:34Speaker 1: as about that line. Yeah, but you know in his
- 15:37Speaker 1: music he throws shots. So that's why you might hear
- 15:40Speaker 1: on the last album the new album. Yeah, so that's
- 15:44Speaker 1: where you might hear something from me come from. So
- 15:46Speaker 1: it's like, okay, a direct shot or a sub direct shots,
- 15:51Speaker 1: direct shots in the music. So it's like, Okay, what
- 15:53Speaker 1: do I do? Do I keep it going? Do I
- 15:55Speaker 1: say something? It's obviously unfortunate. I'm sure you guys have
- 15:57Speaker 1: tons of mutual friends, mutual acquaintances. We don't. Oh, you
- 16:00Speaker 1: guys don't. Nah. Well, a lot of people picked they
- 16:03Speaker 1: side seeing that sucks, right, because it's like, now it
- 16:07Speaker 1: don't suck, it doesn't suck. It's cool with me. I
- 16:10Speaker 1: don't care. I don't I swear to god, I don't care.
- 16:13Speaker 1: Like it's almost like it's funny to me. At the
- 16:16Speaker 1: end of the day because it's like, you guys wouldn't
- 16:18Speaker 1: even know each other. I didn't introduce you to him,
- 16:21Speaker 1: and then you guys still pick the side and you
- 16:24Speaker 1: have nothing going on. Damn. So do you have you
- 16:28Speaker 1: noticed fans picking sides? Because that's where it gets kind
- 16:32Speaker 1: of because I remember when the jay Z nas people
- 16:34Speaker 1: was going on back in the day when I was
- 16:35Speaker 1: a kid, I was on Naza's side and I was like,
- 16:37Speaker 1: fuck jay Z. I don't really know if I noticed fans, right,
- 16:42Speaker 1: because you guys, you guys definitely share a lot of fans. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 16:45Speaker 1: we do. I know the rappers. I know it's the rappers.
- 16:50Speaker 1: Rappers have picked sides. That's fasting, Like you know, they
- 16:55Speaker 1: like ship. They feel like, you're gonna go fuck with
- 16:58Speaker 1: this lingo. They're gonna go fuck with me because of
- 17:00Speaker 1: whatever I think. I feel like too. With hip hop,
- 17:03Speaker 1: it's like, did you notice people who you knew before
- 17:09Speaker 1: he knew them? She was in the Masi side of course,
- 17:12Speaker 1: Like like, can you say who? Because they're not relevant?
- 17:15Speaker 1: They're not so not relevant rappers at least not relevant
- 17:18Speaker 1: now fair enough. It might have been relevant when I
- 17:21Speaker 1: was working with them, but they're not relevant. Now, okay,
- 17:25Speaker 1: that's fair. You and Jim Jones have a dope record
- 17:29Speaker 1: on this project. In the couple, he's talking like you
- 17:32Speaker 1: guys go back to a decade now, has it? Like
- 17:39Speaker 1: you know you have you have records with so many artists,
- 17:41Speaker 1: so many legends. But I feel like there's just something
- 17:45Speaker 1: about that pedigree and and your work ethic and what
- 17:49Speaker 1: you've been building that just anybody who's paying attention has
- 17:52Speaker 1: to respect. Like even like when the big artists comes
- 17:55Speaker 1: to the Bay, grab me, bring me out, like no
- 18:00Speaker 1: fuck around or whatever. A lot of artists that were
- 18:05Speaker 1: talking before it like before they blew up, we've worked before, right, No, No,
- 18:10Speaker 1: we're talking about You were telling me that you had
- 18:13Speaker 1: an opportunity to sign Roddy Rich back in the day.
- 18:16Speaker 1: How how many years ago was this because Roddy's been
- 18:18Speaker 1: making music for a while since he was a kid.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Well this was right before he took off, before he
- 18:24Speaker 1: did whatevery deal with Nipp and Miek and or whatever,
- 18:26Speaker 1: like we had did, Like was this while he was
- 18:28Speaker 1: still with Bird? Yeah, okay, so you and Bird almost
- 18:32Speaker 1: connected together on Rodney mutual Friend. We came to the study.
- 18:36Speaker 1: I think we did like three records one night or whatever.
- 18:39Speaker 1: And same thing with Blue Face too. Me and Blue
- 18:42Speaker 1: Face we was in the lab before he took off.
- 18:44Speaker 1: Also out here like like i'd be in tuned to
- 18:48Speaker 1: what's going on. I've noticed I pay attention to him
- 18:53Speaker 1: man like he got to So why did why did
- 18:56Speaker 1: you end up not signing Roddy? It wasn't just that
- 18:59Speaker 1: then I didn't want or nothing like that. The opportunity
- 19:02Speaker 1: was brought to me through a mutual friend or whatever.
- 19:04Speaker 1: We worked and then ship. After that, I just went
- 19:07Speaker 1: back to the bay. That that that's crazy state. We
- 19:10Speaker 1: stayed in contact. We still talk here in there. Me
- 19:13Speaker 1: and Face still talk here in there too. But I
- 19:16Speaker 1: mean I feel like it's better for him. I mean,
- 19:20Speaker 1: I mean he's having it. He's having a great run
- 19:22Speaker 1: right now. Same thing with Blue Face. Oh with the
- 19:26Speaker 1: other guy, I could have signed him too. I'm sure
- 19:30Speaker 1: that that's for some change. Yeah, I mean you would
- 19:33Speaker 1: have think that would have made tense back then. Me.
- 19:34Speaker 1: I want to see everybody be a boss. I want
- 19:37Speaker 1: to see everybody like I gave him niggas a plan
- 19:40Speaker 1: like how to become a boss, like how to run
- 19:43Speaker 1: your company, how to become a brand. The blueprint to
- 19:46Speaker 1: independent success. Everybody like you could have did you could
- 19:48Speaker 1: have did it like on like like it was like
- 19:50Speaker 1: come up like I'm not no type of nigga like that,
- 19:52Speaker 1: like I'm not hurt. I don't need it, you'd rather.
- 19:54Speaker 1: A lot of people say the game is to be
- 19:55Speaker 1: so not told you that's and that's a whack thing
- 19:58Speaker 1: to say. So it's like you should have did did
- 20:00Speaker 1: you could have did this and that in the way
- 20:01Speaker 1: they're saying it like in a bad way, like I'm like, bro,
- 20:03Speaker 1: like I ain't trying to come up off no nigga
- 20:05Speaker 1: like like plus at the time, Uh, he kept going
- 20:10Speaker 1: to jail, right, he kept going to jail like like
- 20:13Speaker 1: it was some shit called like flashes or some shit
- 20:15Speaker 1: ten they flashes. He kept going to jail, kept going
- 20:17Speaker 1: to jail. But while he was down, I was keeping
- 20:20Speaker 1: him alive. You know what I'm saying, Like you could
- 20:22Speaker 1: check an old video I had with r J and
- 20:28Speaker 1: YG just went YG album at first came out mush
- 20:31Speaker 1: or whatever I had to I'm sweating on wow. Yeah.
- 20:33Speaker 1: So when he was doing everybody was hitting me, Hey man,
- 20:36Speaker 1: I need a verse. I'm like, man, he gonna be
- 20:38Speaker 1: home so and this and this, you know, just on
- 20:40Speaker 1: some genue shit though, But I don't. I'm not looking
- 20:43Speaker 1: at niggas that's come up, like even with my artists.
- 20:45Speaker 1: I just gave him both for Rolex the other day.
- 20:47Speaker 1: You get what I'm saying. I gave him both Rolex.
- 20:49Speaker 1: I just told him, like, I don't want nothing. I
- 20:51Speaker 1: just want you to keep working. That's fire, man. I
- 20:54Speaker 1: wish somebody would have did that for me when I
- 20:55Speaker 1: was coming up. Do you ever see a world in
- 20:57Speaker 1: which you and Mazica have a conversation and recontell we
- 21:01Speaker 1: can holler that's good thinking for show holler like it ain't.
- 21:04Speaker 1: It ain't to the point like nothing's happened to me,
- 21:06Speaker 1: nothing happening, and it felt like some and we got
- 21:07Speaker 1: some good rap music out of it. Yeah we did. Man,
- 21:10Speaker 1: Look you was snapping on your ship. He was. Now.
- 21:12Speaker 1: I mean, like, you know, look, as long as it
- 21:14Speaker 1: stays on music, I'm all for for some rap beef.
- 21:16Speaker 1: But it has to stay on music. That's the problem.
- 21:18Speaker 1: When you look at somebody like you and someone like Mazie.
- 21:21Speaker 1: I remember when it first happened, I was like, shit,
- 21:26Speaker 1: someone's gonna die. Man. Remember these are the two motherfuckers
- 21:30Speaker 1: that I don't like. I wouldn't want to see anybody
- 21:32Speaker 1: be You gotta understand too though, it was like like
- 21:37Speaker 1: and then even from from a fan both, I mean
- 21:40Speaker 1: when you both like one of the dudes where you're from. Yeah,
- 21:43Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, Like shit can't go sour,
- 21:46Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So and at the end
- 21:48Speaker 1: of the day too, like Nigga's not finished. I thought
- 21:52Speaker 1: they like the way, you know what I'm saying. So
- 21:54Speaker 1: it's like, okay, I'm gonna get your scenario. When he
- 21:57Speaker 1: made the song the Killed Every song, he posted a
- 22:01Speaker 1: picture of my house at the time, being which it
- 22:04Speaker 1: wasn't my house at the time. I remember that, but
- 22:06Speaker 1: the next day the police was in front the house.
- 22:09Speaker 1: I remember seeing that and being like ship here it goes. Yeah.
- 22:12Speaker 1: So with that being said, like once the police get involved,
- 22:17Speaker 1: I just left it along because like if a rock wood,
- 22:20Speaker 1: it went through the window and hit him in the
- 22:21Speaker 1: head and he passed out there to try to come
- 22:22Speaker 1: grab me. Right police involved, I'm done with it. That's
- 22:27Speaker 1: why I didn't even respond to that for that. That's fair.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Do you and and Roddy have any unreleased music together. Yeah,
- 22:34Speaker 1: we do. What's that studio? We had room? You guys
- 22:39Speaker 1: cut some records there. That's what we did. Do songs
- 22:41Speaker 1: and so are you blue Face? So you so? How
- 22:44Speaker 1: many un that song? Blue Face, Zodi and Dan we did.
- 22:49Speaker 1: We did like three songs to I know zodiansact so
- 22:54Speaker 1: shocking Kobe, it was something like that and that's crazy.
- 22:58Speaker 1: Shout out to blue Face man. He's he's a funny
- 23:01Speaker 1: rich and blue Face man. They both doing their thing.
- 23:03Speaker 1: They putting on for the West Man. No shame, man.
- 23:05Speaker 1: I love to see you know, people in this rap
- 23:08Speaker 1: game win Yo. The ortions of the MAZI thing. Somebody
- 23:14Speaker 1: told me it stopped me if I'm wrong or right,
- 23:16Speaker 1: But somebody said it's because you You had did a
- 23:18Speaker 1: project with someone he had a problem with. No, that's
- 23:20Speaker 1: not the reason why I started. He did a project
- 23:22Speaker 1: with somebody I had a problem with. Oh yes, okay,
- 23:26Speaker 1: well it wasn't me, so it wasn't you. Copy. Someone
- 23:31Speaker 1: asked me, somebody from you've heard that before, Like I'm
- 23:34Speaker 1: not the first person to ring there the wrong way. Okay,
- 23:36Speaker 1: if I heard it the wrong way, okay, okay. Someone
- 23:40Speaker 1: asked me from me his way to do it song
- 23:43Speaker 1: with me. I asked him about it and he told me, yeah,
- 23:48Speaker 1: it's good, you could do it. I can't, you know
- 23:50Speaker 1: what I'm saying. But it ain't no problem with but
- 23:52Speaker 1: you can't. So I feel like the respect could have
- 23:56Speaker 1: been mutual same way because you asked Yeah, like he
- 23:59Speaker 1: was dere when person ask me this something. Yeah, I
- 24:01Speaker 1: didn't know them, Like is it like, so like you
- 24:03Speaker 1: can show me the same courtesy. I got people from
- 24:05Speaker 1: Richmond and San Francisco, La whatever, Like if I hang
- 24:09Speaker 1: with somebody, these my boys in LA, right, somebody hear
- 24:13Speaker 1: me from LA to do it first, I'm like, bro,
- 24:14Speaker 1: you know them, they're good. You know what I'm saying,
- 24:17Speaker 1: right right, right? So that's just that, that's just kind
- 24:19Speaker 1: of protocol. Yeah, so that's what it was. But at
- 24:22Speaker 1: the end of the day, the person they did the
- 24:23Speaker 1: album with he in a fucked up situation and and
- 24:28Speaker 1: all this shit happened over a dope that's crazy, over
- 24:31Speaker 1: a crackhead happened over that. Who is the artist he
- 24:36Speaker 1: did that? That's what the messed up. Shout out the
- 24:41Speaker 1: mile he shut out both of them. You know what
- 24:43Speaker 1: I'm saying, Like, I ain't mad. I'm not upset, like,
- 24:46Speaker 1: ain't no shade, like do y'all thing whatever? We don't.
- 24:49Speaker 1: We don't. There's twenty twenty. I'm getting too much money. Bro.
- 24:53Speaker 1: I'm still comping these forums, bro, still sucking these bitches still.
- 24:57Speaker 1: I also feel like with what's going on in the world,
- 24:59Speaker 1: like it's like they're not like you know, a lot
- 25:01Speaker 1: of people should probably put it aside that ain't that
- 25:04Speaker 1: you know, like we don't have the vibe you talk like,
- 25:07Speaker 1: they don't got to be. It was a time before
- 25:09Speaker 1: I didn't know you. I was straight, so I don't
- 25:10Speaker 1: It's almost like, yo, people don't got to worry if
- 25:14Speaker 1: you guys run into each other. I don't know, or
- 25:16Speaker 1: at least on your end. I don't know that's fair.
- 25:19Speaker 1: I can't say that because I don't know the vibe
- 25:22Speaker 1: when it happens, you know what I'm saying. That's saying
- 25:24Speaker 1: as in music wise. I'm not tripping, as in like
- 25:27Speaker 1: rying about you making songs or whatever. But I don't know.
- 25:30Speaker 1: You might be turned up when you see me, or
- 25:32Speaker 1: I might be turned up. I don't know. I've heard
- 25:34Speaker 1: this before about you. Is there cities where you can't
- 25:38Speaker 1: perform in because of the police. Is Vegas one of them?
- 25:41Speaker 1: Oh yeah, someone told me that, Like, yeah, man, I forget.
- 25:44Speaker 1: I was talking to somebody about something with you. I
- 25:47Speaker 1: think me and John Cosson were talking and I was like,
- 25:50Speaker 1: what about Vegas? He can't do Vegas Metro on his head.
- 25:53Speaker 1: It ain't that thing on my head. It's just what
- 25:55Speaker 1: we rap about. Well, yeah, plus, I mean that's that's
- 25:58Speaker 1: a city where a lot of rappers can't perform. But
- 26:00Speaker 1: was there anything that happened out there? It was just
- 26:04Speaker 1: your subject matter. I mean they lay with me as
- 26:07Speaker 1: a game member, but I'm not a game mem Yeah.
- 26:10Speaker 1: They put that on a lot of people. Now. So
- 26:12Speaker 1: and I can't perform in Oakland. You can't even perform
- 26:15Speaker 1: your hometown. How long has that been going on? In
- 26:20Speaker 1: two thousand and eight? Oh wow, so since you've been popping,
- 26:24Speaker 1: you haven't been able to perform at home. I just
- 26:26Speaker 1: did the Road in loud, but they welcome you off stage. Wow,
- 26:31Speaker 1: that's crazy, man, King of Oakland. You know, you proclaim
- 26:38Speaker 1: yourself as the King of Oakland. A lot of people,
- 26:43Speaker 1: I think a lot of people who aren't from or
- 26:46Speaker 1: who aren't in tune. Rather, they kind of just group
- 26:49Speaker 1: the Bay together. Right, It's like everyone thinks he forties
- 26:53Speaker 1: from Oakland. No, he's from Vale. I'm saying a lot
- 26:56Speaker 1: of people think that. I'm saying people who don't know
- 26:58Speaker 1: what the fs going on. Like I told you, when
- 27:00Speaker 1: people think of Cally, they think of La exactly, the
- 27:03Speaker 1: Bay even more so because it's even more of a niche.
- 27:05Speaker 1: But like you have, like independently for Oakland done so much,
- 27:12Speaker 1: who's like that? The og of Oakland's probably too short, right,
- 27:16Speaker 1: So when you say you're the king of Oakland, do
- 27:19Speaker 1: you get any any sort of blowback from making that statement?
- 27:24Speaker 1: Keep it real? Like that song I just said that
- 27:28Speaker 1: one I don't I was just rapping like it's not
- 27:30Speaker 1: even a hook on the song. I just said it,
- 27:32Speaker 1: and it became like it ruffled a lot of feathers
- 27:35Speaker 1: from different artists. But Bathgate years ago saying he was
- 27:40Speaker 1: a king Oakland that in a minute. You know a
- 27:43Speaker 1: lot of people. I'm sure Yucklin said it. You know
- 27:45Speaker 1: what I'm saying. But at the end of the day,
- 27:47Speaker 1: the line came out and ran I just named the
- 27:51Speaker 1: song that. And guess what you should feel that way?
- 27:54Speaker 1: Because shorten't say nothing and big dogs ain't saying nothing
- 27:57Speaker 1: and t I used to, I mean, called himself the
- 27:58Speaker 1: King of the South. But he you know, he went
- 28:01Speaker 1: through who he went through with flipping every but like
- 28:03Speaker 1: nobody from what I've heard up there, that's able to
- 28:08Speaker 1: even say anything that that's able to dispute that said
- 28:11Speaker 1: anything say saying nothing. You know, I got a lot
- 28:13Speaker 1: of love for short, I got a lot of love
- 28:15Speaker 1: for all the old g's from Oakland that then did
- 28:18Speaker 1: what they did. I look up to him, you know
- 28:19Speaker 1: what I'm saying, because they did it before me. How
- 28:21Speaker 1: could I not you know what I'm saying, especially because
- 28:23Speaker 1: they from East Oakland. Also, he're the guys that was
- 28:25Speaker 1: coming through my neighborhood. These are guys I'm seeing what
- 28:27Speaker 1: I'm selling dope on the corner, like looking up to
- 28:29Speaker 1: like who I wanted to be, like coming to hang
- 28:31Speaker 1: with my old g's from my hood. So it's no
- 28:34Speaker 1: shape to none of them by me saying that. But
- 28:35Speaker 1: as in musically wise and popping and who who doing
- 28:39Speaker 1: what they're doing consistently one hundred albums, not even just
- 28:42Speaker 1: one hundred albums, just saying that's crazy because even though
- 28:45Speaker 1: that's consistent, one hundred saying like, for the past year
- 28:48Speaker 1: since I've been there, I've been out, Yes, since twenty ten,
- 28:51Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, So that's ten years. Yeah,
- 28:54Speaker 1: and a lot of the Oakland rappers that you know
- 28:58Speaker 1: been doing they thing. It ain't been consistent. It's been
- 29:00Speaker 1: here and there, a song here, video there, feature here,
- 29:03Speaker 1: or whatever. But it just you know, you might not
- 29:05Speaker 1: be as hot as you was this year, but you
- 29:07Speaker 1: staying warm because you're still working and you might pop
- 29:09Speaker 1: off again, but as long as you stay consistent, you're
- 29:11Speaker 1: gonna still keep yourself in the groove. I wanted to
- 29:13Speaker 1: ask you because I know you'll pull up in the
- 29:16Speaker 1: city and yo, who need the features? Tap in? Has
- 29:20Speaker 1: anybody ever hit you? Because you know there's a lot
- 29:22Speaker 1: of struggle rappers out there making some horrible music. Has
- 29:25Speaker 1: anybody ever hit you in one of these cities you're
- 29:26Speaker 1: in where you were like, I'm good fam somebody the
- 29:30Speaker 1: other day for a thousand dollars for a feature. Well,
- 29:32Speaker 1: I'm saying like where you heard the song it was
- 29:34Speaker 1: just bad and you were like, I can't even get
- 29:36Speaker 1: on this bread. As long as you ain't no snitch,
- 29:39Speaker 1: I'll do so even if some straight straight ass just
- 29:42Speaker 1: whack ass before. It don't matter, Like, have you ever
- 29:45Speaker 1: had to do the video for the whack ass shit?
- 29:47Speaker 1: I got paid for it. I toarged the same amount
- 29:51Speaker 1: for the verse as a video, So you gotta do
- 29:53Speaker 1: yo yo run times too if you want the video,
- 29:55Speaker 1: because the video is gonna work than the verse. Hell yeah,
- 29:58Speaker 1: so the verse gonna take teen fifteen minutes. Man, videos
- 30:02Speaker 1: a day's work. So I need the same thing. That
- 30:05Speaker 1: is what it is. So future. So if anybody what's
- 30:09Speaker 1: the future, what's the future? Ten thousand for the future,
- 30:12Speaker 1: another ten for the video, twenty all in that's wild
- 30:16Speaker 1: man show. I was about to say, good for you, bro, Yeah,
- 30:21Speaker 1: good for you with this project, this Yellow Beasy record.
- 30:27Speaker 1: I was when you heard the hook? Did you put
- 30:29Speaker 1: the fifty cent thing together? Nah? You just told me
- 30:31Speaker 1: about that, okay, because I asked you. Because what happened
- 30:34Speaker 1: when I just did the song. I was going to
- 30:37Speaker 1: Originally what I was going to do was it was
- 30:39Speaker 1: gonna be no hook on it. I was because I
- 30:41Speaker 1: had to beat tracked out. So I was just going
- 30:43Speaker 1: to make like the sample louder for the hook, right,
- 30:47Speaker 1: And then I'm like, man, I started looking at the
- 30:50Speaker 1: features on the album. I'm like, let me get somebody
- 30:53Speaker 1: for Texas, because that's how I work, Like, I try
- 30:56Speaker 1: to pay attention to where my mark is at. Feed them.
- 30:59Speaker 1: You're hopping in text and popping in Atlanta, popping in
- 31:01Speaker 1: l Like, let me let me get these Detroit, let
- 31:04Speaker 1: me get these artists from each one of these cities
- 31:06Speaker 1: in states on the tape. So that's how it kind
- 31:09Speaker 1: of works. So if you pay attention to my music,
- 31:11Speaker 1: that's how it is in those markets. Like I'm big
- 31:14Speaker 1: and so bam, let me get let me get somebody.
- 31:16Speaker 1: So I got Yellow Beezy and Lot Jeremy and Little
- 31:18Speaker 1: Jeremy popping out there in Houston, right busy in Dallas.
- 31:22Speaker 1: So I just sent it to him and and Bro
- 31:25Speaker 1: sent it back. Him and trap boy Freddie, they facetiming
- 31:27Speaker 1: knocked it out like you like it? Yeah, sent it
- 31:29Speaker 1: back Yeah, because I asked you. I was like, yo,
- 31:31Speaker 1: y'all have to clear the fifty to fifty ballody And
- 31:33Speaker 1: you're like, what, like, yes, he redid twenty one questions.
- 31:37Speaker 1: See when I did the song, I didn't even pay
- 31:39Speaker 1: attention to it. My boy Rouel, he just sent me
- 31:41Speaker 1: to beat. I did that and then I didn't put
- 31:44Speaker 1: no hook on it because I didn't know how I
- 31:46Speaker 1: was gonna come on the hook. It was kind of girly.
- 31:48Speaker 1: How how much are you having to adjust your hustle
- 31:50Speaker 1: for what's going on with the COVID, like on the
- 31:52Speaker 1: music side, because obviously the live shows ain't what they
- 31:55Speaker 1: used to be, Like, yeah, I ain't really had no
- 31:57Speaker 1: shows since then. I had like five shows canceled when
- 32:00Speaker 1: everything hit. That's what I'm saying, Like, have you had
- 32:02Speaker 1: to adjust your business model or the way you're getting
- 32:05Speaker 1: bred through the music? Like, has there been anything that
- 32:07Speaker 1: you've had to switch up or anything that you've had
- 32:10Speaker 1: to do different? It's been doing the same thing, dropping
- 32:12Speaker 1: the music and then doing a lot of videos. Like
- 32:15Speaker 1: the tape got eighteen songs on it, but I'm about
- 32:17Speaker 1: to drop the Deluxe, which would between two and I
- 32:19Speaker 1: hot fifteen videos already. Wow? Is there gonna be a questions?
- 32:23Speaker 1: Videos already done? Oh? Wow? Did you shoot it in Dallas?
- 32:26Speaker 1: In Dallas? In Dallas? Uh? I just had a video
- 32:31Speaker 1: yesterday with jack Boy, and then I got the video
- 32:37Speaker 1: with rich Gannon with Blue Bucks play right shout to him,
- 32:40Speaker 1: m M, and then all solo songs on the videos
- 32:44Speaker 1: already done. Obviously being somebody who's come from a street background,
- 32:50Speaker 1: I asked Berner this question, and I think he said
- 32:52Speaker 1: he lost like two million dollars. What is the biggest
- 32:54Speaker 1: L you've ever taken in the streets? In the streets,
- 32:57Speaker 1: in the streets, because you know sometimes I mean, I
- 33:01Speaker 1: mean shooting Dice. I shoot Dice a lot, shooting die. Well,
- 33:04Speaker 1: what's the biggest L you've taken? Shit, I'm probably like that,
- 33:07Speaker 1: like maybe like one fifty from from May to last month.
- 33:16Speaker 1: Damn you a game. I wasn't mean shit you being
- 33:19Speaker 1: I mean, do you still do you still stay in Vegas?
- 33:20Speaker 1: Shu in Vegas? In the baby? But no, I'm not
- 33:23Speaker 1: talking about from streating dice streets. Oh okay, okay, I'm
- 33:26Speaker 1: on the streets, yeah, the street, not in Vegas. No,
- 33:29Speaker 1: no, no no, but you but you said about shooting Dice
- 33:31Speaker 1: in the streets. H you don't want I'm saying you
- 33:33Speaker 1: were gambling, ass, motherfucker. Bro we shoot, we shoot, we shoot,
- 33:36Speaker 1: like two thousand and a hand crazy. But shit, you
- 33:41Speaker 1: know it's it's ups and down. You get that ship
- 33:43Speaker 1: right back. That's you know, what's the biggest L? You've
- 33:46Speaker 1: taken it at the casino, probably like a fifty. Damn yeah,
- 33:52Speaker 1: you feel like shit walking out the casino, man stomach
- 33:54Speaker 1: touching my back. I've been there. I'm sick. I have
- 33:58Speaker 1: been there with that feature. You're still trying to do
- 34:00Speaker 1: that in there. Listen. That made me stop. I had to.
- 34:03Speaker 1: I had to, like, I had to leave it alone.
- 34:05Speaker 1: I was a sport been in there one day, sports
- 34:08Speaker 1: hundred dollars and it came out and left thirty yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 34:12Speaker 1: came out. It's like it's a high bro. Balance yourself out.
- 34:15Speaker 1: When I first moved to Vegas, that's all I used
- 34:17Speaker 1: to do. I go shopping, I go, I go, spend
- 34:20Speaker 1: about ten thousand, go shopping, go right to the table,
- 34:23Speaker 1: get the money back to a year. So I used to,
- 34:27Speaker 1: damn there, leave my bag still call me, hey, mister Beasley,
- 34:29Speaker 1: you left your bags here. I had to go back
- 34:31Speaker 1: at the bags. I hadn't got the money and went
- 34:32Speaker 1: cast out and left and forgot about the clothes and
- 34:34Speaker 1: shit I bought. But I used to do that like
- 34:36Speaker 1: every day. Just so craps is your game of choice,
- 34:39Speaker 1: because kind of Vegas is born like if it ain't
- 34:41Speaker 1: nothing going on. So it's like shopping, studio or gambling.
- 34:45Speaker 1: Like it's not really too much to do with strip
- 34:46Speaker 1: clubs at night time. I don't really go and the
- 34:48Speaker 1: strip clubs there kind of fell off. I don't really
- 34:50Speaker 1: go out like that to the clubs or whatever. So
- 34:52Speaker 1: I just go gambling, go shopping. And you remember, h
- 34:54Speaker 1: were you in Vegas when strip Hoop was popping? That
- 34:57Speaker 1: was a movie man in there. I remember Mark Sun
- 35:01Speaker 1: came in there. Turned one day someone got I remember
- 35:03Speaker 1: someone got smoking the lobby man and that was it
- 35:05Speaker 1: was a wrap they put the plug on that you
- 35:08Speaker 1: mentioned it. Remember. I don't know if you remember, but
- 35:10Speaker 1: I had bought a billy in La some years ago
- 35:13Speaker 1: and it came back stolen. Oh really, and I went
- 35:16Speaker 1: to jail for in San Francisco. So the guy he
- 35:21Speaker 1: worked or worked or own that spot strip up and
- 35:24Speaker 1: he paid me back for the core. Wow. Strip hop
- 35:28Speaker 1: is legendary, man. Yeah, there ain't been nothing else like
- 35:32Speaker 1: that since out there. I know, like Mayweather spots. It's cool,
- 35:35Speaker 1: but it's like it's like he miss there. I think
- 35:37Speaker 1: Mayweather is just like open on the weekend. Yeah, I
- 35:40Speaker 1: don't know, man, Vegas, Vegas is I think everything's getting
- 35:43Speaker 1: reshut down. I don't know, man, I've been moving, man,
- 35:46Speaker 1: I've been Miami, Arizona, La, the Bay, you name it. Man,
- 35:50Speaker 1: I've been on the road trying to to you know,
- 35:53Speaker 1: there like two collad projects with people who's somebody who
- 35:55Speaker 1: you haven't worked with on like a full album that
- 35:58Speaker 1: you would like to do, like a full like tape
- 36:00Speaker 1: with I mean ice Work that was supposed to do
- 36:02Speaker 1: a city fire shot to Detroit and supposed to do
- 36:05Speaker 1: a whole cd uh. That's the only thing that I
- 36:10Speaker 1: had on my schedule. I was I'm surprised you and
- 36:12Speaker 1: Burner never did a full joint that should be crazy
- 36:18Speaker 1: for the Bay. Do you man, burnt fu with me
- 36:22Speaker 1: like that? Really you're real? Yeah, he's done me like
- 36:26Speaker 1: that obviously personal out the Burner, but burn out this money,
- 36:31Speaker 1: but not the chemistry He's You guys just never got
- 36:36Speaker 1: like just we've been arounding to said, you guys just
- 36:38Speaker 1: never vibed. No we vibe. But I don't know, it's
- 36:43Speaker 1: just something, it's something near that you feel me that
- 36:46Speaker 1: it ain't being being talked about. But I mean, I mean,
- 36:52Speaker 1: I don't, I didn't. I didn't say this plenty of times,
- 36:54Speaker 1: you know, to the inside, people just feel like burn
- 36:59Speaker 1: he's a great dude though, like he's a he's a
- 37:01Speaker 1: good dude. He didn't through big shows of course, field
- 37:05Speaker 1: he's never involved. You know, he didn't do a lot
- 37:10Speaker 1: of stuff for the store or whatever, cookies and all that.
- 37:14Speaker 1: Field he's never involved. So I just be like, I mean,
- 37:17Speaker 1: just like we like I said, you talk about the
- 37:19Speaker 1: King Oak and stuff, like we know who's popping it
- 37:21Speaker 1: was going on. So if you're not supporting the hottest
- 37:24Speaker 1: person in the bay, like, you gotta be something. Do
- 37:27Speaker 1: you do you think because I feel like I mean
- 37:29Speaker 1: obviously taking that out aside, you know, unbiased, but do
- 37:34Speaker 1: you feel like for whatever reason, like I feel like
- 37:37Speaker 1: Burne is another one of those guys like you who's
- 37:38Speaker 1: just been killing shit for a long time. I just
- 37:42Speaker 1: feel but I have no issue. But do you feel
- 37:44Speaker 1: like he's slept on in hip hop? Because I feel
- 37:46Speaker 1: like he doesn't hit something. I feel like sometimes he
- 37:48Speaker 1: just doesn't like when when people mention the bay, like
- 37:50Speaker 1: for whatever reason, we all know him for weed and cookies,
- 37:54Speaker 1: but like musically, like he's been doing his thing for
- 37:57Speaker 1: so long, and I feel like sometimes he's I don't.
- 37:59Speaker 1: I don't. I don't really know because keep it real,
- 38:01Speaker 1: like no disrespect. I'm not really in tune to the music,
- 38:04Speaker 1: so I don't really know if he's being slept on
- 38:06Speaker 1: or not. Like we didn't done musically before, like I
- 38:09Speaker 1: think I was on the project with him and Dolph. Yeah,
- 38:11Speaker 1: he didn't done a song for me before in the
- 38:12Speaker 1: video whatever. But that's as far as it went, you
- 38:15Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. So other than that, you know,
- 38:18Speaker 1: I done went to the store before, cookies or whatever.
- 38:20Speaker 1: I just left the cookie store before we got here.
- 38:22Speaker 1: So it's not like it's not somebody. Yeah, but I
- 38:24Speaker 1: just I just feel like, you know, it's just something
- 38:26Speaker 1: in between. Like I even talked to people that's close
- 38:28Speaker 1: to him, right, bro, White Brother, don't fuck with me
- 38:30Speaker 1: like that, you know what I'm saying. So that's fair,
- 38:33Speaker 1: hopefully you guys. You know he's doing his things. I mean,
- 38:37Speaker 1: I take the game from him, as in the clothing,
- 38:40Speaker 1: the weed. You know I saw the last time I
- 38:43Speaker 1: saw you, you had your your your strain with you.
- 38:47Speaker 1: Is it kills? He was on JELYO five nine, Yeah,
- 38:50Speaker 1: and you gave me something and I smoked it and inspired.
- 38:53Speaker 1: But you're still high, Uh getting into the weed game
- 38:59Speaker 1: on the legal side obviously, you know, it's where the
- 39:03Speaker 1: world is going. It's crazy that we still got people
- 39:06Speaker 1: locked up in the United States over weed. Yeah, well
- 39:09Speaker 1: they probably locked up before it was This ship is
- 39:12Speaker 1: crazy now legal, That's what I'm saying. But now that
- 39:14Speaker 1: it's legal, should you know? But but but I'm curious, like,
- 39:17Speaker 1: have have you getting into that legal side of the
- 39:22Speaker 1: of the game? Is what's different about it? And like
- 39:25Speaker 1: have it's been challenging? It all very challenging because like
- 39:29Speaker 1: a lot of people do this ship like black market,
- 39:31Speaker 1: I want to do it that way. Like, if I'm
- 39:33Speaker 1: going to do it, I want to do it right.
- 39:34Speaker 1: So I've been working on trying to get the licensing
- 39:37Speaker 1: and then like you know, by them making it legal,
- 39:41Speaker 1: now they want to tax it, they want to touch it,
- 39:43Speaker 1: they want to see where it's been grown, they want
- 39:44Speaker 1: to test it. So you know, for black man like myself,
- 39:50Speaker 1: they ain't just gonna just you know, let me in.
- 39:52Speaker 1: So I gotta figure it out and wiggle my way.
- 39:54Speaker 1: I got a wiggling you know, that's fair? Yeah, have
- 39:58Speaker 1: you is there like any states are areas that are
- 40:01Speaker 1: easier to get your license in. I mean, because I've
- 40:04Speaker 1: noticed some of the homies go to Oklahoma. They want
- 40:06Speaker 1: they want to see where it's being grown at. They
- 40:09Speaker 1: want to they want to see where it's been grown.
- 40:10Speaker 1: They want to test it, they want to they want
- 40:12Speaker 1: to do all that. So they ain't just about the license.
- 40:14Speaker 1: More to it. There's a lot more to it. Put
- 40:16Speaker 1: it in stores. I don't just want to like this
- 40:18Speaker 1: is like me selling meat on the corner, like to
- 40:20Speaker 1: do black market. I want to have my right. So
- 40:22Speaker 1: when they come in or into the cookie story, like
- 40:24Speaker 1: get the kills on, they got the jars, everything professional.
- 40:26Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. I think it's dope though
- 40:28Speaker 1: that you're like, you know, diversifying man, especially, you got
- 40:32Speaker 1: to diversify it now. A lot of these because where
- 40:35Speaker 1: I come from, you know what I'm saying, they love
- 40:38Speaker 1: to try to get me for anything, right like they already,
- 40:41Speaker 1: like you said, they are labeled. A lot of people
- 40:42Speaker 1: label he was a gang member. A lot of these
- 40:44Speaker 1: law enforcement agencies and that comes from I think the
- 40:49Speaker 1: chief of police is from here in Oakland, so it's
- 40:52Speaker 1: like he that's how they think they think gang gang, gang,
- 40:55Speaker 1: gang because they what it was. They wanted me to
- 40:58Speaker 1: sit down with them and talk to them and film it,
- 41:02Speaker 1: Like are you crazy? I'm like, I can't do that, Yeah,
- 41:06Speaker 1: of course not. I'm not. I probably can have somebody
- 41:08Speaker 1: representing me and talk or whatever, but me not to
- 41:12Speaker 1: say it like that. But you're if that leaded with
- 41:16Speaker 1: the way the internet works, now, listen, that's all it takes. Listen.
- 41:19Speaker 1: One day, I was in the hood, right and it
- 41:21Speaker 1: was a cop and he put up in the truck
- 41:24Speaker 1: playing my music. Wow. So he in the truck playing
- 41:27Speaker 1: the music, right, So I'm like, I'm about to recording.
- 41:30Speaker 1: So I recorded it. If I didn't posted, I deleted it.
- 41:34Speaker 1: And then he jumped to my DM. It was like
- 41:37Speaker 1: he was like, hey boss, this me the cop that
- 41:39Speaker 1: was just playing the music. Can you see me in
- 41:41Speaker 1: that video? And I showed everybody in the neighborhood. I
- 41:44Speaker 1: know how he could read it, but don't open it.
- 41:46Speaker 1: So I showed everybody in the neighborhood and I deleted it.
- 41:50Speaker 1: So because if I would have responded back to that,
- 41:53Speaker 1: people would have been like, yore you talking to the coup.
- 41:55Speaker 1: Like if I responded back to that, he would have
- 41:57Speaker 1: screenshot that and sent that out come on they had
- 42:00Speaker 1: had me on rad Facts and all that type of stuff. Man,
- 42:03Speaker 1: it would have been crazy. Oh man, crazy. You know
- 42:06Speaker 1: what sucks though, it is like you could have did that,
- 42:09Speaker 1: and that's okay because you wouldn't do nothing wrong, but
- 42:12Speaker 1: just how people would have token. But it's the internet hating.
- 42:15Speaker 1: So the internet is crazy, bro. Yeah, they want to
- 42:17Speaker 1: say They say anything. Man, they say anything. But do
- 42:20Speaker 1: you feel like uh, you know, I was. I was.
- 42:25Speaker 1: We had Freddy Gibbs on the podcast and he had
- 42:27Speaker 1: said something conservous that you saw that video with Gunner
- 42:30Speaker 1: on Crime Stoppers. That's that's different and that's pretty he
- 42:35Speaker 1: was telling. So I was going to ask you when
- 42:37Speaker 1: you see something like that, because something that you're talking
- 42:40Speaker 1: about is not the same thing. Man, they're gonna take
- 42:42Speaker 1: it as telling. Also, you spoke to the police. Me
- 42:45Speaker 1: sitting down and the police. I don't know if they
- 42:48Speaker 1: understand that how it would look, but me sitting down
- 42:53Speaker 1: like I'm talking to you and talking to them, and
- 42:55Speaker 1: they feeling and putting out there. You know, they gonna
- 42:57Speaker 1: crop it and memes and and twisted, you know what
- 43:01Speaker 1: I'm saying. So it's just do I do I lose
- 43:04Speaker 1: my credibility and it can affect your rap career to
- 43:08Speaker 1: be able to perform and get money legally. So if
- 43:13Speaker 1: I do this, I can get paid to perform. But
- 43:17Speaker 1: if I don't, have to just suck it up and
- 43:18Speaker 1: just say fuck it, make money out of my pocket,
- 43:22Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So it's like, how do
- 43:24Speaker 1: you win the same thing with the legal system. It's like, Okay,
- 43:28Speaker 1: you go to jail, you get put on ankle, money
- 43:30Speaker 1: there or whatever. You can't have a pistol on you.
- 43:33Speaker 1: But you in the streets. You in the streets. You've
- 43:36Speaker 1: been in streets all your life, so yourself. So it's
- 43:39Speaker 1: either go to jail or die? Which one? Which one
- 43:42Speaker 1: you're gonna do? Poison is So it's like a Lulu situation.
- 43:46Speaker 1: Really yo, I know you you dabble in the real
- 43:48Speaker 1: estate hustle. No, don't dabble in the real estate hustle.
- 43:52Speaker 1: You got houses everywhere that are like you got houses.
- 43:55Speaker 1: I don't got real estate houses to where I flipping. Okay,
- 43:58Speaker 1: so you don't get in and nah, gods, he told
- 44:01Speaker 1: me to do that a long time ago, but I
- 44:03Speaker 1: just haven't. I just been working my way down different things. Eventually,
- 44:06Speaker 1: I probably will you get there. Yeah, I've been doing
- 44:08Speaker 1: the clothing, the dogs, the weed, the modewn company. I'm
- 44:12Speaker 1: an artist. I'm really trying to stop rapping. You say
- 44:15Speaker 1: you have a modeling company in the Bay Area. What
- 44:20Speaker 1: kind of modeling company were talking about? You? Females? They
- 44:22Speaker 1: do videos, hosting, well, you name it. Are they on backpage?
- 44:28Speaker 1: Nothing like that? By the way, back pages retired. Everything
- 44:32Speaker 1: is legal, man, everything. Hey, technically, technically you could you
- 44:37Speaker 1: could hang out with someone and them girls have boyfriends, husbands, whatever.
- 44:41Speaker 1: I just came together and grabbed some models from the
- 44:44Speaker 1: Bay Area and made a company. We did photo shoots,
- 44:47Speaker 1: we did the new hustlers. You got to get a
- 44:49Speaker 1: piece of their Only fans. I don't think about that.
- 44:53Speaker 1: Only fans is legal. I don't know anything about that.
- 44:59Speaker 1: It's crazy because now, like like like if you're a
- 45:01Speaker 1: stripper and like you're struggling right now and you haven't
- 45:04Speaker 1: made an only fans account, like you're crazy. You No,
- 45:09Speaker 1: not me. I'm married, I'm straight, but I'll be seeing
- 45:11Speaker 1: motherfucking rappers got only fans accounts and ship if I did,
- 45:17Speaker 1: boy but I'm talking about even motherfuckers. I wouldn't be
- 45:21Speaker 1: doing nothing. I'll be suing what the girls doing, right,
- 45:24Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. Like I wouldn't be on
- 45:25Speaker 1: there like me. You wouldn't see me, of course not.
- 45:27Speaker 1: I mean you wouldn't see my face and nothing, but
- 45:29Speaker 1: you would see them what they doing. My Only fans
- 45:33Speaker 1: would go crazy. I'm telling you some niggas that be
- 45:35Speaker 1: mad around here, Like yo, my wife was on Filthy Riches.
- 45:38Speaker 1: Only fans be serious how much they get paid that? Uh?
- 45:43Speaker 1: I think it all depends, like it's like a monthly thing.
- 45:47Speaker 1: We got a friendned Brian Sampson, who would know he
- 45:49Speaker 1: subscribed to butch might start me fans, Hey, that'd be fire.
- 45:55Speaker 1: Have just chicks like send you ship, No, no, just
- 45:59Speaker 1: that I've dealt with so real women videos there you got.
- 46:02Speaker 1: I got phones full of videos like I could dig
- 46:04Speaker 1: into archives get popping and get popping right quick. But
- 46:09Speaker 1: they'll probably try to sue me, Like the girls. It
- 46:12Speaker 1: depends on what state you're in. If you filmed it,
- 46:15Speaker 1: they watching it. No, no, but listen, listen. If you
- 46:18Speaker 1: filmed it on your phone, you own it. It's and
- 46:21Speaker 1: I think in California it's a one party consent so
- 46:23Speaker 1: I think you're good. Oh yeah, that's that's why all
- 46:26Speaker 1: the porn companies are out here. That's why like the
- 46:28Speaker 1: Kim Kardashian tape, y J film that he owned the footage.
- 46:31Speaker 1: I'm about to go big man. What do you get
- 46:32Speaker 1: for that? Oh he got a bag? Yeah. If you
- 46:36Speaker 1: have anybody with any sort of clout, run it up. Bro,
- 46:39Speaker 1: about to go big, run it, about to go big
- 46:42Speaker 1: on the fan? Yeah? Why not? Man? See me doing that?
- 46:45Speaker 1: Fuck them ruined their life? Who cares? I'm just you
- 46:49Speaker 1: put me on. I'm just playing anyway, yo. Man. Listen,
- 46:54Speaker 1: the album is out. What's your favorite song? I bro,
- 46:58Speaker 1: I funk with the record with Uh, with Veszo, that
- 47:01Speaker 1: Ship is Hard and the Big six Big five nine. Yeah,
- 47:04Speaker 1: I listened. I listened to the whole album straight through
- 47:06Speaker 1: yesterday and and that record stuck out. I liked the
- 47:09Speaker 1: Jim Jones record, like I told you. The intro was hard,
- 47:11Speaker 1: Quarantine intro was fire, see keep it real. That songs. Oh,
- 47:17Speaker 1: the intro I recorded I think on my birthday. It's
- 47:21Speaker 1: called King Open January thirty. January thirty, King Open, winning too, right,
- 47:25Speaker 1: So that's from January. Yeah, I just put it on
- 47:28Speaker 1: that was because there's a lot of you talk about
- 47:29Speaker 1: you know, what's going on with the COVID shit A
- 47:31Speaker 1: lot on there too, like did you you and Jim
- 47:34Speaker 1: recorded that joint in Miami? Nah, I sent the gyms
- 47:37Speaker 1: in the back fair enough. I just came up with
- 47:39Speaker 1: the the idea with the hook, the name of it
- 47:42Speaker 1: from what he said whatever. I just left Miami all
- 47:45Speaker 1: shot two videos out there. Video for that song, I
- 47:49Speaker 1: shot this other song. I got four other songs for
- 47:51Speaker 1: the Deluxe for the that's a new way man to
- 47:54Speaker 1: go double up on them boom. I got some new
- 47:58Speaker 1: songs too. I might do it the CD, but I
- 48:01Speaker 1: might not. That might be my last CD real quick.
- 48:03Speaker 1: I'm cured like your last CD ever, she might retire.
- 48:06Speaker 1: I've been saying that's what I want to do, so
- 48:08Speaker 1: like you won't let me though, I was gonna say,
- 48:10Speaker 1: how do you figure? How do you like? Like? When
- 48:12Speaker 1: do you know it's time? When you when your interest
- 48:19Speaker 1: is it's something else? You know what I'm saying? Like
- 48:21Speaker 1: I said, like I got like other businesses, the only
- 48:25Speaker 1: fans it starts, you know what I mean. I don't
- 48:28Speaker 1: want to for one. I just don't want to sit
- 48:31Speaker 1: back and become a rapper that's just rapping and uh,
- 48:35Speaker 1: you know, no disrespect to any of the older rappers
- 48:39Speaker 1: from Oakland me. I don't want to do that, right.
- 48:41Speaker 1: I want to come in, get my w you know
- 48:44Speaker 1: what I'm saying, and get in and get out and
- 48:46Speaker 1: leave it at that. And then this was this was
- 48:48Speaker 1: something to open the door for something else, you know
- 48:50Speaker 1: what I'm saying. So that's how I look at it.
- 48:51Speaker 1: But I've been doing a whole bunch of other stuff
- 48:54Speaker 1: that's been generating money. So you talked about Gazzi. You
- 48:57Speaker 1: guys obviously have a very strong relationship Empires. Uh. You know,
- 49:01Speaker 1: I think that they've kind of changed the way a
- 49:02Speaker 1: lot of people think about how they release music. What
- 49:08Speaker 1: is the like what what is asked Mazi the same thing,
- 49:13Speaker 1: like what is it about Gasi? What is it about
- 49:15Speaker 1: Empire that you know? It is so good? Because I like,
- 49:20Speaker 1: like you said, like major label has been knocking a
- 49:22Speaker 1: lot of people. Keep it real. See if I'm not mistaken,
- 49:27Speaker 1: I think like in twenty twelve, I was just releasing
- 49:33Speaker 1: music and then I think guys, he came looking for me.
- 49:36Speaker 1: It was like I have everybody but filthy, So I
- 49:39Speaker 1: came over there. I think I released a series of
- 49:41Speaker 1: sim City money Man It's one, two, three, four, and
- 49:44Speaker 1: then guys, he was seeing how my bad coming in
- 49:49Speaker 1: and then like, well, when you get a single, we'll
- 49:53Speaker 1: do official official album. So I made them make a
- 49:56Speaker 1: living record with soup. So I gave him that song,
- 50:00Speaker 1: and then that's when I created the album around the single.
- 50:03Speaker 1: So he was like, okay, let's do want to do
- 50:06Speaker 1: a budget for the single? Like yeah, and then I
- 50:09Speaker 1: went half. So I came in and brought the money
- 50:12Speaker 1: half of what he wanted to put up. And ever
- 50:14Speaker 1: since then he always like, I respect how you moved,
- 50:17Speaker 1: like you didn't just come with your hand out like
- 50:20Speaker 1: and then that's how he like introduced me to Dolf
- 50:22Speaker 1: because he was like, Dolph is the same way, like
- 50:25Speaker 1: you can, of course remind me of each other. So
- 50:28Speaker 1: and like anything I asked, like if I called Ghazi
- 50:30Speaker 1: for whatever, like it's done, Like I don't even remember
- 50:34Speaker 1: time he's ever told me no, so and I know
- 50:37Speaker 1: that he wants to see me win. I know that, yeah,
- 50:39Speaker 1: he's he's got. He really is all about pushing the
- 50:42Speaker 1: Bayman to the forefront of music. He like he he
- 50:47Speaker 1: like I was supposed to be a and oor over here.
- 50:49Speaker 1: That was my next Yeah mean you got the ear.
- 50:51Speaker 1: You could have had Riddy, you got the ear. That's
- 50:54Speaker 1: what I'm saying. I actually do it now, but it's
- 50:56Speaker 1: not on the pay road, right, you know what I'm saying.
- 50:57Speaker 1: Like I called, like grabed this person, he hit this person.
- 51:00Speaker 1: Nothing m this type stuff. But that was my next movie.
- 51:03Speaker 1: After I was done with the done with the music,
- 51:07Speaker 1: done rapping, and then and then ship I just started
- 51:13Speaker 1: building over there, bringing artists over there, bring artists over there.
- 51:17Speaker 1: So like whatever I do, they just respect it. That's
- 51:19Speaker 1: fire man, Yo, go support the album and yeah request questions,
- 51:26Speaker 1: Yeah man, no questions. Yellow Busy I single video about
- 51:29Speaker 1: to come out. Videos on the waite. Uh, it's gonna
- 51:34Speaker 1: be there. We did it like we was locked up
- 51:35Speaker 1: in jail two then the girls who was calling the
- 51:38Speaker 1: girls on the phone, they was holding it down while
- 51:40Speaker 1: we was in jail. That I always be wondering where
- 51:42Speaker 1: mother Tucker's find fake jails? Where do you find the
- 51:44Speaker 1: fake jail to shoot the video? They got fake. They
- 51:47Speaker 1: just got fake, Josh Garant, they got fake. They got fake.
- 51:50Speaker 1: Proper deal with with the cages with the bars, with
- 51:53Speaker 1: the bed all that it got, I was like, Yeah,
- 51:56Speaker 1: where do they get they have, like, have it here?
- 51:58Speaker 1: I'm sure they got like they definitely here, different different
- 52:01Speaker 1: rooms with different like setups in them. That's what it is.
- 52:03Speaker 1: WELLO Filthy Rich, Appreciate you. Tapping in Man, Appreciate you.
