- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to KFI AM 640, the Bill Handel Show
- 0:04Speaker 1: on demand on the iHeartRadio app.
- 0:11Speaker 2: It's the news!
- 0:13Speaker 3: It's the news! Going to a strip club could kill you.
- 0:15Speaker 3: The bacterial infections were traced back to the crazy horse
- 0:19Speaker 3: gentleman's club. Can become deadly if you don't get treated.
- 0:23Speaker 2: You'd think they'd be getting a staph infection.
- 0:25Speaker 4: Ah! Yeah, that's great. Let's talk about Venezuelan boobs again, okay?
- 0:31Speaker 2: Bubelas.
- 0:31Speaker 5: Yes.
- 0:32Speaker 4: Las bubelas, yes.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Ah, bubelas. So soft and cuddly.
- 0:38Speaker 5: And now, Handel on the News.
- 0:41Speaker 4: Ladies and gentlemen, here's Bill Handel. Good morning, everybody. It
- 0:57Speaker 4: is a Tuesday morning, October 27. Some big doings today.
- 1:04Speaker 4: Right now, the vote is going on in Israel. There
- 1:06Speaker 4: are nine hours ahead of us. So it's three o'clock
- 1:08Speaker 4: in the afternoon. And we should get some some notice
- 1:15Speaker 4: or some information about which way the vote is going.
- 1:17Speaker 4: Hugely important. It's what you say.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Four o'clock, Amy.
- 1:21Speaker 3: I believe Jordana said it was 4 p.m. Eastern, so
- 1:23Speaker 3: about 1 in the afternoon is when we'll get the
- 1:26Speaker 3: first return.
- 1:26Speaker 4: I thought, no, they're nine hours ahead of us. So
- 1:31Speaker 4: nine hours ahead of us would be 3 o'clock in
- 1:33Speaker 4: the afternoon, would it not? It would be, correct. Yeah.
- 1:40Speaker 4: They're nine hours. Jordana is off by a couple hours, probably.
- 1:45Speaker 3: Well, you're not getting returns yet.
- 1:47Speaker 4: No, no, no, no, because polls are still open. What
- 1:50Speaker 4: I'm saying is by our time this late afternoon or
- 1:54Speaker 4: certainly by evening, we'll have a very good idea of
- 1:56Speaker 4: what's going on in Israel. Big, big important vote in
- 1:59Speaker 4: Israel to which way the country's going to go. It
- 2:01Speaker 4: really is one of the most important votes. We'll talk
- 2:04Speaker 4: a little bit more about that later on. Because that vote,
- 2:07Speaker 4: it's not just some country voting. It has a lot
- 2:10Speaker 4: to do with what happens to us and what we
- 2:13Speaker 4: are going to do because we are so important. tied
- 2:17Speaker 4: into and married to the Middle East in terms of
- 2:21Speaker 4: what's happening here with the oil and our foreign relations
- 2:23Speaker 4: and allies and just war on terror, all of that.
- 2:27Speaker 4: All right. First day, hello to one and all. Mario
- 2:30Speaker 4: is with us and will be through Friday. We don't
- 2:34Speaker 4: have anybody yet to replace you so you can work
- 2:37Speaker 4: on Monday, right? Not quite yet.
- 2:39Speaker 2: And good morning, everybody.
- 2:41Speaker 4: Okay. So we don't have anybody for now. Do we
- 2:43Speaker 4: have anybody, Neil, to replace you? We've been looking for
- 2:45Speaker 4: a long time.
- 2:47Speaker 2: I am without replacement, sir. I apologize. But there's only
- 2:53Speaker 2: one me in this world.
- 2:55Speaker 4: Oh, that sounds there's only that sounds like a romper
- 2:59Speaker 4: room or a Mr. Rogers episode. There's only one you
- 3:03Speaker 4: and you're a very special person because no one in
- 3:07Speaker 4: the world is like you, Neil. You are special, too.
- 3:10Speaker 2: And for a little behind the scenes, right before the
- 3:13Speaker 2: show goes on, you have Anne yelling in the background.
- 3:17Speaker 2: handle put on your headsets he didn't even have his
- 3:20Speaker 2: headphones on she has to tell you wipe your butt
- 3:23Speaker 2: chew and swallow.
- 3:25Speaker 4: Yeah sit up straight yeah we we have a pretty
- 3:28Speaker 4: loose show here there's no question we do we do
- 3:31Speaker 4: we we yeah it's a royal we and we are
- 3:35Speaker 4: not amused.
- 3:36Speaker 2: What and sleep thank you two hours a night uh
- 3:39Speaker 2: because she's so loosey-goosey about everything.
- 3:42Speaker 4: Like, whatever. Well, there's Ann.
- 3:45Speaker 2: 20 hours a week or 20 hours a day she works. Loosey-goosey.
- 3:49Speaker 4: Yeah, there's, well, it's pretty loosey-goosey at some points on
- 3:53Speaker 4: this show. And then, Will, good morning to you. Good morning, Bill.
- 3:56Speaker 4: Nice shirt. Hawaii there. Yeah, it's a Tommy Bahama shirt. Now,
- 4:01Speaker 4: this is, I'm quickly, quickly going through my Costco shirts.
- 4:05Speaker 4: I don't know if I have any Costco shirts left.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Where are they going?
- 4:10Speaker 4: They're disappearing. It's like socks in the dryer. All I
- 4:13Speaker 4: know is I walk into the closet and where I
- 4:15Speaker 4: think I'm grabbing a Costco knockoff, I grab a shirt
- 4:20Speaker 4: and I look at the label and it is a
- 4:22Speaker 4: real Tony Bahama.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Tommy. Tony.
- 4:26Speaker 4: Oh, so Tony Bahama is not the real thing either?
- 4:29Speaker 2: That's the first thing that happens when you join a cult.
- 4:35Speaker 2: They remove your identity slowly. And then rebuild you in
- 4:39Speaker 2: the image in which she wants you to be. So congratulations.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Huh.
- 4:45Speaker 4: Well, there you go. All right. Anyway, I now have
- 4:48Speaker 4: a closet full of Tommy Bahama shirts. And I hate gifts.
- 4:53Speaker 4: As you guys know, I'm not interested in getting gifts
- 4:55Speaker 4: at all for birthdays or anniversaries or any of that.
- 4:58Speaker 4: I just give them away. So I tell people, don't
- 5:00Speaker 4: bring a gift. If I have a birthday party, don't
- 5:03Speaker 4: bother because I'm not going to ever use it. Except
- 5:06Speaker 4: Jim Keeney. Jim Keeney and I switch shirts. I get
- 5:10Speaker 4: him a Tommy Bahama. He gets me a Tommy Bahama.
- 5:12Speaker 4: So it's equivalent to each of us buying our own
- 5:15Speaker 4: once a year. And so that's.
- 5:19Speaker 3: But the question is, do you get him a Tony
- 5:21Speaker 3: Bahama or a Tommy Bahama?
- 5:23Speaker 4: What I do is I also have and this is
- 5:25Speaker 4: a little dirty secret that just between us guys, I
- 5:28Speaker 4: was able to get Tommy Bahama labels. Those little labels
- 5:35Speaker 4: that I sew into.
- 5:37Speaker 3: Your Walmart shirts?
- 5:39Speaker 4: Yes, pretty much. And I really appreciate it. All right, guys,
- 5:42Speaker 4: you ready to do it? It is that time. Big day.
- 5:45Speaker 4: And then, of course, our election is coming up next Tuesday.
- 5:48Speaker 4: Exactly one week from today. And the voter guide, I
- 5:52Speaker 4: continue on at 730 today with the handle. Don't follow
- 5:58Speaker 4: my lead voter guide. And today I'll be doing props
- 6:02Speaker 4: to three and four. Talk about those. I do the
- 6:06Speaker 4: props and I'm not doing anything else other than props
- 6:09Speaker 4: because local races. It's up to you to figure out
- 6:11Speaker 4: what you want to do. And if you're talking about
- 6:13Speaker 4: state elections, it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter one whit
- 6:18Speaker 4: because the Democrats, as I've said over and over again,
- 6:21Speaker 4: have a super majority, have a super duper majority, have
- 6:24Speaker 4: a super duper pooper majority where I don't even know
- 6:27Speaker 4: why Republicans show up. It's a waste of time. Just
- 6:30Speaker 4: get your money. You know, just get paid. They can't
- 6:32Speaker 4: stop you. It's an elected office. You know, you can
- 6:35Speaker 4: just get elected and do nothing. You certainly can with
- 6:38Speaker 4: judicial appointments, federal judges. Do you know that? They're in
- 6:43Speaker 4: for life. It doesn't matter. It does not matter. Okay, guys,
- 6:47Speaker 4: if you are ready to do it, let us do it.
- 6:49Speaker 4: It's time for Handle on the News on this Tuesday
- 6:52Speaker 4: morning with Femi, Neil, and me, lead story. Well, here
- 6:58Speaker 4: comes the election today, guys. And Israel is really deciding
- 7:04Speaker 4: which way the country is going to go because of
- 7:06Speaker 4: the war still reeling from the Hamas 2023 attack, divided
- 7:12Speaker 4: over the character of the state, the future of the state,
- 7:17Speaker 4: and the right person to lead it. And Benjamin Netanyahu
- 7:21Speaker 4: is in for the fight of his life, political life,
- 7:24Speaker 4: that is. And we'll talk more about that as this
- 7:27Speaker 4: thing pans out, because it is one hell of a story.
- 7:30Speaker 4: I'm going to do more about that at 7 o'clock
- 7:31Speaker 4: this morning, trying to understand why it is so important
- 7:34Speaker 4: and what is going on. It's a very weird— this is
- 7:37Speaker 4: parliamentary— the parliamentary system at its worst is the state of Israel.
- 7:44Speaker 4: We do not have a parliamentary system. England does. Most
- 7:47Speaker 4: other countries in the world do. We do not. We
- 7:51Speaker 4: are a representative elective system. And it is we who
- 7:55Speaker 4: elect the president in the parliamentary system. The party in
- 7:59Speaker 4: power puts in the prime minister. There is no direct election.
- 8:04Speaker 4: So I'll talk more about that at seven o'clock this morning.
- 8:08Speaker 3: And as we move on, I just did a little
- 8:10Speaker 3: double check. So the polls in Israel are open until
- 8:12Speaker 3: 10 p.m. local time, which if they're nine hours ahead.
- 8:17Speaker 3: then that's 1 p.m. our time that we'll start hearing
- 8:20Speaker 3: the first results.
- 8:21Speaker 4: Yeah, and they do it– I don't know if they
- 8:24Speaker 4: do it by counting because it's way too early to
- 8:27Speaker 4: have any kind of a count, of course. But exit
- 8:29Speaker 4: polling seems to do it. And if you look at
- 8:32Speaker 4: our elections, I watch CNN because I love John King
- 8:37Speaker 4: and his analysis of what's happening with the elections. But
- 8:40Speaker 4: it's early. The reporting starts coming in early, early, early
- 8:44Speaker 4: days where you just get a few people. And then,
- 8:46Speaker 4: of course, it starts going up. And hours later, it
- 8:49Speaker 4: can be determinative as to who wins or it can
- 8:52Speaker 4: go for days.
- 8:54Speaker 3: Even though they have to do in-person voting, there is
- 8:56Speaker 3: no mail-in voting.
- 8:57Speaker 4: There is no mail-in voting in Israel. That's why I
- 8:59Speaker 4: did the story yesterday. Israeli expats are flying to Israel.
- 9:03Speaker 3: Staying out of it. A federal appeals court. has rejected
- 9:06Speaker 3: a request from the administration that it intervene in a
- 9:09Speaker 3: lawsuit against California and declined to order the state to
- 9:14Speaker 3: set aside up to 20,000 mail-in ballots that the DOJ
- 9:18Speaker 3: says are likely from non-citizens. They said the lower court
- 9:23Speaker 3: judge had not yet considered it, so they didn't want
- 9:25Speaker 3: to do anything about it. Well, that judge is going
- 9:27Speaker 3: to consider it today in L.A.
- 9:29Speaker 4: Yeah, and it's not going to happen anyway, no matter
- 9:31Speaker 4: which way the judge goes. I think if the judge rules– well,
- 9:36Speaker 4: what will happen is the judge is going to rule
- 9:39Speaker 4: against the Trump administration because that lawsuit makes no sense.
- 9:43Speaker 4: First of all, segregating 20,000 votes because the federal government
- 9:48Speaker 4: suspects that these people are not citizens. And one of
- 9:52Speaker 4: the questions the court says– Based on what? How did
- 9:55Speaker 4: you get to that number? Who gave you that number?
- 9:57Speaker 4: What rationale? What procedure did you use? use in determining
- 10:01Speaker 4: that number? What problem do you have with the U.S.
- 10:03Speaker 4: Constitution that the states determine how votes are to be
- 10:06Speaker 4: determined and run? So they're going no place with that.
- 10:09Speaker 4: But we talked about that yesterday.
- 10:12Speaker 2: All right. The money is at enough, man. I'm going
- 10:15Speaker 2: to get my son to do a little voter fraud.
- 10:17Speaker 2: And then if Republicans get in after the midterms, I'm
- 10:21Speaker 2: going to have one million and five thousand dollars. President
- 10:26Speaker 2: Trump offering one million bucks yesterday to anyone who reports
- 10:31Speaker 2: voter fraud that leads to an arrest and conviction.
- 10:36Speaker 4: Now, I'll tell you what the next lawsuit is going
- 10:39Speaker 4: to be about that. In every race in which the
- 10:42Speaker 4: Republicans lose, and we're talking about close races, let's say,
- 10:48Speaker 4: what the lawsuit is going to be is the administration
- 10:52Speaker 4: or the Republicans will file a lawsuit. to uh not
- 10:57Speaker 4: certify the results because so many allegations look how many
- 11:01Speaker 4: people uh tipped us off as to the fraud.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Look at how look at the number of people that's
- 11:08Speaker 2: an interesting take yeah and i think that what happens
- 11:11Speaker 2: that's legitimate uh you know your honors uh we have
- 11:14Speaker 2: such an overwhelming number of tips we have to pay
- 11:18Speaker 2: attention to that That is fascinating, William Wolfe.
- 11:22Speaker 4: Well, thank you very much. Well, we're coming back. I'm
- 11:25Speaker 4: not a cynic, am I? I don't even think that
- 11:28Speaker 4: was cynical. I think that was more of a reality play.
- 11:30Speaker 4: All right, we're going to come back. Everything is awful.
- 11:33Speaker 2: Everything is awful. It fills his mind.
- 11:36Speaker 4: Pretty much. Not only is the glass not half full,
- 11:41Speaker 4: it's half empty and there's a hole at the bottom
- 11:43Speaker 4: of the glass where the water is pouring through.
- 11:46Speaker 5: You're listening to Bill Handel on demand from KFI AM 640.
- 11:52Speaker 4: Today is the Israeli elections. I'll talk more about that
- 11:55Speaker 4: at 7 o'clock. Coming up November 14th, just a quick announcement.
- 11:59Speaker 4: Neil Fork Report is being broadcast from the Wild Fork.
- 12:04Speaker 4: store in Laguna Niguel in Orange County. I will be
- 12:07Speaker 4: joining Neil and samples more food than you could ever eat.
- 12:12Speaker 4: And I mean, it's not just little Costco samples either.
- 12:14Speaker 2: I love how you say you're going to be joining
- 12:16Speaker 2: me when you're going to be joining for the food.
- 12:20Speaker 4: Of course I am. Of course I am. And this isn't,
- 12:22Speaker 4: this is not Costco where the Korean ladies are shoving
- 12:25Speaker 4: you aside for, well, maybe you will see a couple
- 12:28Speaker 4: of Korean ladies shoving you aside. Yeah, that's true. Because
- 12:34Speaker 4: here's an equation. The more Korean ladies, the fewer the pets. OK,
- 12:38Speaker 4: moving on. More handle on the news with Amy, Neil
- 12:43Speaker 4: and me.
- 12:44Speaker 3: DOJ has taken another shot at James Comey. The former
- 12:47Speaker 3: FBI director has been accused this time of mishandling national
- 12:52Speaker 3: security information in October of 2016 that they say ended
- 12:56Speaker 3: up in a New York Times article, according to Court Sealed.
- 13:01Speaker 3: Court papers unsealed yesterday.
- 13:03Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 13:03Speaker 4: And I don't know how that's going to happen because,
- 13:05Speaker 4: of course, he's going to deny it. Then they're going
- 13:07Speaker 4: to say he leaked it. Sources at the newspaper always
- 13:12Speaker 4: say or reporters always refuse to give sources. So this
- 13:16Speaker 4: is the third go round against Comey.
- 13:18Speaker 5: Yep.
- 13:19Speaker 4: Once again. And is it going to go anyplace? Of
- 13:21Speaker 4: course not. It doesn't. He is an avowed enemy of Trump.
- 13:27Speaker 4: And if you are an enemy of Trump, even just
- 13:30Speaker 4: a perceived enemy, then the full weight of the U.S.
- 13:34Speaker 4: government comes down on you in a big, big way.
- 13:37Speaker 4: That's unfortunate.
- 13:37Speaker 2: All right. Man charged with threatening letters.
- 13:40Speaker 5: Well.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Not so much just the threatening letters. A harsh word
- 13:44Speaker 2: letter can be wonderful, but don't put white powder in it.
- 13:48Speaker 2: That's when it becomes problematic. Matthew Unglesby, that's what I'm
- 13:53Speaker 2: going with, has been charged. He not only sent the
- 13:56Speaker 2: threatening letters, but they contained a white granular substance. These
- 14:01Speaker 2: were to three members of Congress and a handwritten letter
- 14:04Speaker 2: that read H-A-H-A. Nicely done, Joker. A fourth letter with
- 14:13Speaker 2: white granular substance included the note, H-A-H, enjoy the gift.
- 14:18Speaker 2: Not a big brain on Matthew.
- 14:21Speaker 4: What if it were included in their, this product is
- 14:25Speaker 4: used to sweeten your coffee? Would there still be that
- 14:28Speaker 4: big a deal made of it?
- 14:30Speaker 2: Maybe not.
- 14:30Speaker 4: Yeah, that's what I'm thinking.
- 14:32Speaker 2: Maybe not. Ha, ha, ha, says the Joker. Pow, Batman.
- 14:37Speaker 3: We got some hijack hijinks going on. A passenger was
- 14:43Speaker 3: arrested after writing a message on a cell phone in
- 14:47Speaker 3: the middle of the air as they were flying from
- 14:50Speaker 3: Las Vegas to Newark, New Jersey. And apparently somebody saw
- 14:54Speaker 3: him say that he was going to hijack the plane.
- 14:56Speaker 3: And so they turned around and they landed back in
- 14:59Speaker 3: Las Vegas. Interesting to hear the pilots talking about it, too,
- 15:02Speaker 3: because they're like, OK, we've been Notified that this guy
- 15:06Speaker 3: has sent messages saying he wants to hijack the plane,
- 15:08Speaker 3: but he doesn't know that we know and we're going
- 15:11Speaker 3: to turn around and land now.
- 15:12Speaker 4: Right. And he was very calm about it. What he
- 15:15Speaker 4: did is it was a flight attendant who saw this
- 15:18Speaker 4: on his phone. And he says it was just a joke.
- 15:22Speaker 4: I didn't intend for it to happen. You can't do
- 15:24Speaker 4: jokes like that.
- 15:25Speaker 2: He was texting someone else.
- 15:27Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah. It was it was a text. Yep.
- 15:30Speaker 2: Not a smart guy from Las Vegas. Was he going
- 15:32Speaker 2: to crash it into New York?
- 15:34Speaker 4: I'll tell you one thing. I will tell you something else.
- 15:37Speaker 4: Don't ever, ever at a checkpoint at the airport describe
- 15:42Speaker 4: a movie as a bomb that the movie just bombed.
- 15:46Speaker 4: You do not want to say that.
- 15:48Speaker 2: Or enjoy a bomb pop.
- 15:50Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 15:50Speaker 2: It would be bad as well.
- 15:51Speaker 3: I remember my mom saying that when we were flying
- 15:53Speaker 3: when we were kids. They were like, no, you cannot
- 15:55Speaker 3: say that. And we'd go, we could say bomb. And
- 15:57Speaker 3: they're like, no, you can't. But now it's even more serious.
- 16:00Speaker 4: Oh, it's crazy now. Yeah. As a matter of fact,
- 16:03Speaker 4: you can't even listen to the song. Who was it?
- 16:09Speaker 3: You dropped a bomb on me?
- 16:11Speaker 2: No. La Bomba.
- 16:14Speaker 4: Who did that? Oh, Richie Valens. It's La, insert name
- 16:19Speaker 4: of song here, La.
- 16:20Speaker 3: Yeah, La Bamba.
- 16:22Speaker 4: Richie Valens.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Yeah, and you can't even watch Ishtar on a plane.
- 16:26Speaker 3: Because it bombed so bad.
- 16:27Speaker 4: Because it bombed, yes.
- 16:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:29Speaker 2: OK, applauding Rick Caruso. Good man. I like that Rick
- 16:34Speaker 2: Caruso for doing this. He said he came out and
- 16:37Speaker 2: said he's voting for Karen Bass in the mayoral race.
- 16:40Speaker 2: And he had been he'd been kind of stating that
- 16:43Speaker 2: he wasn't backing anybody. But good for him to get
- 16:47Speaker 2: some other eyes on Mayor Bass so that. nithya ramen
- 16:52Speaker 2: noodles doesn't get in office.
- 16:54Speaker 4: Yeah do you know i want to congratulate you neil
- 16:56Speaker 4: uh for being completely objective about the mayoral race this
- 17:00Speaker 4: time around.
- 17:01Speaker 2: You know what i'm learning from you uh hyperbolic and
- 17:04Speaker 2: absurd you know freaking i have nithya ramen tds and
- 17:10Speaker 2: it balances out your tds in the morning.
- 17:14Speaker 4: No, I don't think I'm not talking about active people
- 17:19Speaker 4: running for office. I don't think I don't think I've.
- 17:22Speaker 2: Endorsed you are the only person I know that after
- 17:26Speaker 2: next Tuesday is going to wear. I voted as my
- 17:29Speaker 2: wife told me so on sticker on their chest.
- 17:32Speaker 4: Well said.
- 17:34Speaker 5: You're listening to Bill Handel on demand from KFI AM 640.
- 17:40Speaker 4: Israeli news. The big vote is today is happening as
- 17:43Speaker 4: we speak. Let's come back to a handle on the news. Amy,
- 17:47Speaker 4: Neil and me.
- 17:49Speaker 3: How about some cash to leave the company? Microsoft is
- 17:53Speaker 3: offering buyouts to about 60,000 workers. The company says the
- 17:57Speaker 3: voluntary exit offer reflects an important part of how we're
- 18:01Speaker 3: evolving our approach to change, creating greater flexibility and where possible,
- 18:06Speaker 3: More ways for employees to shape their next chapter.
- 18:09Speaker 4: That's a lot of feet that are walking. 120,000 of them.
- 18:12Speaker 3: 60,000.
- 18:13Speaker 4: No, 60,000 people.
- 18:15Speaker 3: Oh, 120,000 feet. You're right.
- 18:16Speaker 4: That is correct. Thank you. I did the math. Okay. Yeah.
- 18:21Speaker 3: Microsoft is planning to spend $ 190 billion on capital expenditures
- 18:25Speaker 3: this year, largely tied to investment in artificial intelligence.
- 18:30Speaker 4: Yep. Another episode in the AI story. Man, that's going
- 18:34Speaker 4: to be talked about for a while, you think?
- 18:35Speaker 2: National panel for the DSA, the Democratic Socialists of America,
- 18:40Speaker 2: decided Monday, once again, delay voting on whether to uphold
- 18:43Speaker 2: or rescind the Los Angeles chapter's endorsement of Nithya Raman.
- 18:47Speaker 2: You know, I don't think any of the DSA members
- 18:49Speaker 2: that are actually council members are voting or have supported Raman.
- 18:56Speaker 3: They all support.
- 18:58Speaker 2: So this is this is actually the. national group. And
- 19:02Speaker 2: they said that this is all over concerns that Rahman
- 19:05Speaker 2: hasn't taken a sufficiently tough stance against Israel.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Israel.
- 19:09Speaker 4: But Karen Bass hasn't taken a tough stance against Israel.
- 19:13Speaker 4: So not like this. Rahman is in an interesting position,
- 19:18Speaker 4: not liberal enough or not left wing enough to for
- 19:23Speaker 4: uh the super the socialist not quite where they want
- 19:26Speaker 4: to crap can the the chief of police yeah she
- 19:28Speaker 4: does she does but she hates basically doesn't like the
- 19:31Speaker 4: police uh has come more to the center but ramen
- 19:35Speaker 4: is i well it's that's it's another work i'm not
- 19:38Speaker 4: thrilled with either one of them looks like karambe the
- 19:40Speaker 4: dead gorilla is my write-in once.
- 19:42Speaker 2: Again don't write in just come on just do bass
- 19:45Speaker 2: before we get some sort of weird crap i think
- 19:48Speaker 2: i think bass is gonna take it no matter what
- 19:50Speaker 2: i don't know i hope so okay your lips to
- 19:54Speaker 2: god's ears or whatever god's lips to your ears.
- 19:57Speaker 3: How about some cash to leave the company? Oh, wait,
- 19:59Speaker 3: it's not the same story as Microsoft. Skydance is now
- 20:03Speaker 3: offering voluntary buyouts to employees as the media giant moves
- 20:09Speaker 3: ahead with plans to slash costs following the merger or
- 20:14Speaker 3: takeover of Warner Brothers Discovery and Paramount Skydance, now known
- 20:18Speaker 3: as just Skydance. It's also imposing a five-day return to
- 20:21Speaker 3: office mandate across all operations, marking another major shakeup for workers.
- 20:26Speaker 3: This is from orders from David Ellison.
- 20:30Speaker 4: The big deal was 60 Minutes. Remember the reporters leaving
- 20:34Speaker 4: 60 Minutes because they were outraged by the changes being
- 20:38Speaker 4: made at CBS. And have you watched 60 Minutes lately?
- 20:42Speaker 4: I have a few episodes. I really can't tell the difference.
- 20:47Speaker 2: We're all under 60, so none of us watch it.
- 20:51Speaker 4: Oh, come on. That's great stuff.
- 20:53Speaker 2: It really is.
- 20:53Speaker 4: Give me a break on that. All right, let's do
- 20:55Speaker 4: one more, and then we will take our break.
- 20:58Speaker 2: All right, DoorDash. You're not a big fish unless you
- 21:01Speaker 2: try and swallow another fish, apparently. DoorDash is pushing forward
- 21:05Speaker 2: on talks to acquire Instacart, another food delivery rival there.
- 21:10Speaker 2: Could be finalized as soon as this week. Could value
- 21:13Speaker 2: Instacart at around $ 17 billion. No guarantees, obviously, when these
- 21:19Speaker 2: things happen.
- 21:19Speaker 4: And this is one of those that makes a lot
- 21:21Speaker 4: of sense. Because if you look what DoorDash does, is
- 21:24Speaker 4: deliver food from restaurants for the most part. And Instacart
- 21:29Speaker 4: shops for you. We use Instacart all the time. And
- 21:32Speaker 4: it's really a neat process.
- 21:35Speaker 2: They do a great job. It's just hard with produce.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Produce is very difficult.
- 21:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 21:40Speaker 2: So that's the only thing.
- 21:41Speaker 4: Yeah. But that's about it. And even then they do
- 21:43Speaker 4: a decent job with produce. They're not as careful as
- 21:46Speaker 4: you're going to be, but still.
- 21:47Speaker 2: Depending on who you get.
- 21:49Speaker 4: Yeah, everybody else. It does work. So the two of
- 21:53Speaker 4: the companies together will make this massive company. And it just,
- 21:58Speaker 4: it's very, has a lot of symbiosis to it. Yes,
- 22:05Speaker 4: thank you very much.
- 22:08Speaker 5: You're listening to Bill Handel on demand from KFI AM 640.
- 22:11Speaker 4: Israeli elections are going on right now. Talk more about
- 22:17Speaker 4: that at seven o'clock. Also, before we finish up, Handel
- 22:20Speaker 4: on the news, as Amy will tell you and I
- 22:24Speaker 4: will also confirm, you go to Africa. And if you're
- 22:29Speaker 4: out on the bush, surprisingly, they have pretty sophisticated bathrooms
- 22:34Speaker 4: out there. And right now, if you go to Instagram,
- 22:38Speaker 4: at Excessive Baggage Podcast, or TikTok, at Excessive Baggage, or
- 22:45Speaker 4: go to the website, excessivebaggage.com, it's my new travel podcast
- 22:51Speaker 4: that I'm doing with Lindsay, you'll see some pretty sophisticated
- 22:55Speaker 4: outdoor toilets And on the bush, out in the bush
- 23:00Speaker 4: in Africa. So it's my little experience there. Excessive Instagram,
- 23:05Speaker 4: Excessive Baggage Podcast. TikTok at Excessive Baggage. Website, ExcessiveBaggage.com. It's
- 23:14Speaker 4: the name of the podcast, Excessive Baggage. See, that's sort
- 23:16Speaker 4: of a double, triple, quadruple on time.
- 23:19Speaker 2: You should say it one more time for people who
- 23:21Speaker 2: didn't get it.
- 23:21Speaker 4: Okay. Excessive Baggage. Okay. Because both of us bring a
- 23:25Speaker 4: fair amount of baggage. I bring more. Okay, guys, let's
- 23:28Speaker 4: go ahead and finish up my handle on the news
- 23:30Speaker 4: on this Tuesday morning. Amy, Neil, and me.
- 23:33Speaker 3: Trump just topped Biden. The average price of gas during
- 23:36Speaker 3: Trump's second term is now more expensive than it was
- 23:40Speaker 3: during the Biden era, according to a CNN analysis of
- 23:43Speaker 3: AAA data. Gas buddy guru Patrick DeHaan says it's pretty astonishing.
- 23:48Speaker 3: I don't think anyone would have predicted this 10 months ago.
- 23:51Speaker 3: And it's a major reversal today. of the return to
- 23:55Speaker 3: less than $ 2 for a gallon of gas that Trump
- 23:57Speaker 3: promised in the summer of 2024.
- 23:59Speaker 4: Anybody listen to the rally last night? where the president said,
- 24:06Speaker 4: you're paying a little bit more for gasoline, but the
- 24:09Speaker 4: good news is oil companies are making more money than
- 24:12Speaker 4: they ever have before. No. No, absolutely. And he said,
- 24:19Speaker 4: we are producing more oil than we ever had before.
- 24:22Speaker 4: We are now an oil exporting nation. So when you
- 24:27Speaker 4: go and fill up your gas tank, just tell yourself
- 24:30Speaker 4: we're an oil exporting nation because that'll help you really
- 24:34Speaker 4: deal with it. I just filled up Lindsey's gas tank.
- 24:37Speaker 4: It's a 20-gallon tank, and it was $ 6. 50 a gallon,
- 24:41Speaker 4: $ 130 to fill up the gas tank. But we are producing–
- 24:45Speaker 4: we're now an oil exporter, so it made me feel
- 24:49Speaker 4: great to pay $ 120 for a gas tank.
- 24:52Speaker 2: You can't complain. She drives a car way too big
- 24:56Speaker 2: for her, and you switched an electric vehicle out for
- 24:59Speaker 2: a gas guzzler.
- 25:02Speaker 4: Well, yeah, I did. I wanted a hybrid, but you
- 25:05Speaker 4: couldn't get them. You can't get hybrids. A three-month wait
- 25:08Speaker 4: for a hybrid. And my lease was up. It wasn't
- 25:10Speaker 4: going to happen.
- 25:11Speaker 2: It just goes to show you that life is marketing.
- 25:14Speaker 2: Now our oil companies are making more money. That's beautiful.
- 25:20Speaker 4: All right.
- 25:20Speaker 2: Convicted murderer gets out. 28-year-old convicted murderer serving life in
- 25:26Speaker 2: Tennessee in a prison there just escaped through a fence Sunday.
- 25:33Speaker 2: And then stole the truck because that's what, you know,
- 25:35Speaker 2: criminals do. And they haven't located him yet. It's a
- 25:38Speaker 2: measly $ 2, 500 for information that leads to his, you know, arrest.
- 25:43Speaker 4: Unless you add that to a voter fraud, then it's $ 7, 500. No, $ 8, 500.
- 25:49Speaker 2: Do you know that it's $ 2, 500 for a murderer, but
- 25:54Speaker 2: you can get a million if you turn in one
- 25:56Speaker 2: person who did voter fraud?
- 25:58Speaker 4: That's correct.
- 25:59Speaker 2: Priorities, my friend.
- 26:00Speaker 4: Okay. The billionaire at work.
- 26:03Speaker 3: Off the sidelines and into a huge spotlight, Jay-Z is
- 26:07Speaker 3: going to take the stage as the performer for the
- 26:10Speaker 3: Super Bowl halftime show coming up at SoFi Stadium on
- 26:14Speaker 3: Valentine's Day. I believe it's Super Bowl 61. Now, Jay-Z's
- 26:20Speaker 3: entertainment company, Rock Nation, has been producing the halftime show
- 26:25Speaker 3: since 2020. Others who were in the running, Miley Cyrus,
- 26:28Speaker 3: Justin Bieber, Harry Styles, but they lost out. to Jay-Z,
- 26:32Speaker 3: who chose himself to perform.
- 26:34Speaker 4: That's correct. He looked in the mirror and said, I
- 26:35Speaker 4: think it's going to be you. Now, the reality is
- 26:38Speaker 4: Jay-Z is an astounding performer.
- 26:42Speaker 2: Jay-Z.
- 26:43Speaker 4: I said that, Jay-Z.
- 26:44Speaker 2: Jay-C is.
- 26:45Speaker 4: No, no, Jay-C is someone that you appreciate. Jay-Z is
- 26:50Speaker 4: this billionaire business person. He's brilliant at that. And he
- 26:55Speaker 4: is enormously talented. And even though he chose himself, that
- 26:58Speaker 4: is an easy call for him to make. No one
- 27:01Speaker 4: is going to argue with that call for him. You
- 27:03Speaker 4: could get his wife up there.
- 27:05Speaker 3: She's already done.
- 27:08Speaker 4: It.
- 27:08Speaker 2: I don't find him that great.
- 27:11Speaker 4: Well, I'm not in big favor of rappers anyway, although,
- 27:14Speaker 4: you know, I've been listening to some Eminem stuff, and
- 27:18Speaker 4: he really is astounding. I have to tell you, I'm
- 27:23Speaker 4: not a big fan of rap, but there's a lot
- 27:25Speaker 4: of talent there.
- 27:27Speaker 2: One white rap artist. Good for you, buddy. You're really
- 27:30Speaker 2: branching out your cultural instincts.
- 27:32Speaker 4: Damn straight. Coming up, talking about cultural instincts, guess what's
- 27:36Speaker 4: happening right now as we Sprechen? The vote in Israel
- 27:40Speaker 4: is happening, and I'll go through a little bit of that.
- 27:43Speaker 4: And then a story that I thought I'd share with you,
- 27:47Speaker 4: a personal story. Always fun sharing those with you. And
- 27:51Speaker 4: we'll be doing that as soon as we come back.
- 27:54Speaker 4: This is KFI AM 640.
- 27:57Speaker 1: You've been listening to The Bill Handel Show. Catch my
- 28:00Speaker 1: show Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.
- 28:03Speaker 4: And anytime on demand on the iHeartRadio app.
