- Speedcafe Team: Yeah This week on Full Credit to the Noise, Adelaide gets a makeover, Parity raises its ugly head, and the MILFunter wins the title. Welcome to Full Credit to the Noise. Well, hello. Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, and welcome to Full Credit to the Noise. You can find this podcast on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook at FCTTN Podcast. You can find me on Instagram, Twitter, Blue Sky, and Facebook at Former underscore legend. You can find the Black and Crossby on Twitter at AVL underscore motorsport. He's on Instagram at AVL.motorsport. He's a man who this week was revealed as the new narrating voice of the next season of MAFs. He's spent all of Saturday night singing Dolly Parton songs at a karaoke bar, and tonight he's wearing a Bears Perth membership shirt. Welcome to Speak Cafes, Andrew Van Lewen. Hello former. How are you? How's your week been? Well, I was a little bit busy on the weekend, but ⁓ your Bears Perth membership, are you sure you got the right one? Because I wasn't even gonna touch that. I wasn't it was just letting I was just letting that one go straight through to the keeper. I tell you what, hell of a website if you get a chance. Have a look at it. It's a beauty. The recent party picks have been what a night out with the boys, it seems like a great time. I still don't quite know where I'm gonna go, whether ⁓ how how I'm gonna feel about my beloved West Tigers when there is a Perth team in the competition as well. I might have to ⁓ do what I always tease many other people of doing and that's supporting multiple teams. Yeah, gut feel. You're gonna have weeks where you're gonna get double disappointment, to be honest. But it's lucky I'm probably not gonna be that invested in either of them to be honest. But that's or you're just gonna build a you build a callus to it like me and just become numb. Well, I might take the tax free ⁓ fandom and just go straight to P and G. ⁓ what about that? How good's that? Bloody Rooster's been doing it for years. All of a sudden someone else has been able to do it. It's fantastic. ⁓ let's talk about motor support before we get people shut down. Has anyone ⁓ thought that plane stunt on Mountain Strait a couple of years ago at Bathus was dangerous when the pilot backed into the wall? They might want to check the footage of the weekend, ⁓ AVL, the Springbox versus the All Blacks game in Cape Town. I don't know if you saw this. Two airlink jets flew over the stadium. Now, according to Flight Radar twenty four. They passed less than fifty feet above the top of the stadium, so much so that they moved the fireworks smoke as they went through. Now the last time I saw two jets flying that low, George W. Bush went and played golf. ⁓ but did you get a look at that? ⁓ yeah, it was everywhere. It was everywhere. And it was one of those things that you can chalk up as ⁓ incredibly spectacular because everything went just right. Yeah. My boy Boy ⁓ boy. If it didn't find the term one off. ⁓ might be very applicable to this this incident. But ⁓ yeah. Do you reckon there was a bit of a pull through for some ⁓ for some pilots there? I mean they did airline did put out a statement saying this was all part of the plan, it was all pre approved. Was it for highly experienced pilots and all that sort of stuff. But ⁓ cool story. I don't know. It's funny it's funny you do you do say that 'cause the first thing I thought about was the ⁓ was the plane at Bathis last year in terms of just put it in a totally sketchy ⁓ put it into context, doesn't it really? Yeah, it does. It does, yeah. Anyway, it was ⁓ But ⁓ in other news, in personal news, I I've taken up the Duries again AVL. I've been at the Muscle Car Masters all weekend watching the Touring Car Masters. Couple of cars there at old cigarette inspired liveries, which had me heading straight out to the server on buying a pack of weenie blues and and sparking up. What are you reckoning about this? Foxtel pulled the Touring Car Masters ⁓ trophy race for anyone that doesn't know, ⁓ because of concern surrounding two historic cigarette inspired, I should say inspired, not worded. Liveries. Yeah, we're still trying to fully get to the bottom of what happened here because these cars, from the best I can tell, and I'm not an absolute TCM expert, but they have been racing in the category before with TV cameras on them from Foxtel and KO. So ⁓ I don't a hundred percent know what's really gone on here for it to have become an issue during the the muscle car masters, but there is a lot of sensitivity around this. We've had to pull historical images and stuff from our website before. From Speed Cafe before, ⁓ if there was ⁓ cigarette branding in it, because it does seem to be one of those things where it only takes as few as a single person to complain that that the ad standards or the tobacco standards or whatever it is. I have dealt with it before. I forget the exact sort of ⁓ means with which you you end up with an email saying you need to take this photo down. But ⁓ it doesn't take a lot for action to be required to be taken by law. So maybe that is what has happened here. It's just kind of walked between the raindrops in the past and this particular time it didn't, but I don't know that for sure. So don't take that as fact. But yeah, we are trying to get to the bottom of why suddenly this was a ⁓ a big issue at the Muscle Car Masters. But either way, it's just it's very difficult to see it as anything but hypersensitivity and just an absolute waste of time for anybody involved. Like they are tribute liveries. It is not cigarette advertising. And how do you spell legal Just out of interest. Not the way it was spelled on the graphic, on the on the broadcast that was posted ⁓ all over the internet, I'll tell you that much. ⁓ jeez. I mean, of all the talking about hypercritical, that was the first thing everyone picked up on. Darry about this the smoke and it ain't spelled legal like that, but who knew? Yeah. All right, let's go to the shift cut because we'll talk about Adelaide. Yes, and Moto GP and the South Australian government have Finally unveiled their $96 million overhaul of the Adelaide Parklands to host the Grand Prix motorcycle racing. Set in the heart of Adelaide, the new look 4.13km 15-turn circuit will utilize roads formerly used by the Formula One Australian Grand Prix. Now, according to the advertiser, a total of 377 trees are set to be felled for the project, or as you said off here, not enough. ⁓ and of those, 42 are deemed to be significant. It's expected that 88 trees will be removed. ⁓ sorry, moved, I should say. A series of revisions will be made to the Adelaide Street Circuit ⁓ between events that seek to retain the iconic venue's unforgiving nature for supercars while making it safe for Moto GP. ⁓ catering for the two championships comes with unique challenges. For Moto GP, it's primarily about rider safety. For supercars, it's about keeping that old school challenging character. ⁓ the design was a collaborative effort between the state government, Motorsport Board, Moto GP and Supercars. Loris Caparossi and Mark Scaife were advisors to the project. Between Moto GP and the Supercars, the circuit will take on a new guise with bigger curves, reprofiled corners, and realigned barriers, the main changes for the touring cars. Some gravel traps will also be removed between events. Scafe was on the marketing offensive on Sunday. He said ostensibly, we've tightened some of the corners up, we've made the curbs more aggressive. And we've made the barrier alignments much closer to the racetrack, and that really unforgiving nature of being right next to the fence just changes the whole demeanour of the racetrack. He said Peter Brock used to say great racetracks have consequences, and this is certainly one of those. It's got its consequences. You want to actually reward risk in terms of the way that the drivers commit to racetracks like this. The big change between Moto JP and the supercar's layout really is the barrier alignment in terms of visibility and the optics. ⁓ this year's LA Grand Prix. Sorry, Grand Prix every week, AVL. This year's Adelaide Grand Final on November twenty sixth, twenty nine is set to be the last on the now known layout before the redevelopment work begins in December. Your thoughts. I've got a few thoughts, a few things I want to touch on. What makes forty two of those three hundred and seventy seven trees significant? What's the I mean, like they help us breed. They're all pretty significant, I would have thought, in the scheme of, you know, civilization. But that's just an odd thing. I'd like to know what makes those significant. ⁓ there's a few things here that are quite interesting. I do remember not that long ago the original F one circuit designer Bob Barnard suggesting publicly that this redesign was going to cost a hundred million dollars. And Peter Malinowski wrong again, Bob. Yeah, Peter Malinowska s scoffed basically scoffed at that claim and said, Well, he has no idea about the costing of any of this and what's he talking about? Now I'm not saying four million bucks isn't a lot of money. I given we're Given when it cost it at ninety-six million, Bob was pretty close to the mark. Check out the big brain on Bob. Yeah, I think the ⁓ the the four percent sort of deviation can be forgiven in ⁓ in this case. So this obviously is coming with a pretty hefty price tag and not one that that the government did want out there in the first place because there were those efforts to kind kind of water down that hundred million mark. But as for the circuit design itself and all that sort of stuff. Like it's hard not to be disappointed that we're gonna lose the current Adelaide circuit, you know, we're gonna lose turn eight. ⁓ and we're actually also gonna lose important remnants of the original Grand Prix circuit because the Centre Chicane has actually been moved as part of all of this. Like it's been reprofiled and and and the old Senate Chicane will effectively be paved over. And it wasn't that long ago there was public debate about heritage listing that tarmac. So that's a significant historical loss for the venue as well. On the other hand, having watched the simulated videos of the track, I'm getting strong Albert Park vibes with the width of the of the track and the sort of flowing Parklands nature of it. And in the Gen 3 era, Albert Park has become one of the best tracks for racing on the Supercars calendar. So with that in mind, I am interested to see what we end up with as a racing product with this new circuit, because it might not be all doom and gloom in terms of the switch from what we've got into what we might get. I just really hope that it does end up being worth getting rid of what we have right now. To have MotoGP and to have this new circuit. but I wouldn't dismiss entirely that it won't be a good supercars racetrack just because it's for bikes, because again, you know, Albert Park works and that's kind of what I was thinking about when I've been watching these simulated videos. So it'll be it's just gonna be very interesting. Traditionally, ⁓ bike circuits don't make race car circuits. ⁓ as a rule, Eastern Creek being one of those, it's much maligned a lot of the time. But I see your point saying that. Albert Park isn't a motorbike circuit, so we don't know whether it would be a great motorbike circuit. I know the similarities you can see through that simulation. But it just seems like it's a race track at the place where a racetrack is, but it's not the same racetrack. That's essentially I don't I don't think it's gonna be a great motorbike racetrack either. You reckon? No, I think it's obviously been it's just a massive compromise on that front, like a bigger compromise than it is on the car racing front. So I'm not for a second saying it's gonna be a great bike racing track or that Albert Park would. I'm just looking at it through the supercars lens and kind of going, Well, maybe this will work for supercars because if it does have that similar style to Albert Park, we know that works for Gen three supercars. So maybe it won't be doom and gloom for supercars. I think that it there's always gonna be despite all the work that they have done on the safety. And you can kind of see the vision now that it should be relatively safe for bikes. Like I mean I've I've watched in person bike racing in Macau. It definitely doesn't look like that. Like it's a very different to a street circuit like that. ⁓ my God. That ⁓ insanity. That's what that's I can see how it will work for bike racing, but I think there's always gonna have have to be a level of ⁓ sanitization for bike racing i in those sorts of confines. So I think that it will end up probably I think that it could end up being, you know, maybe a a a s kind of nil all draw for supercars in terms of what's the better racing product in with the with the existing circuit and the new circuit. I think if you're then comparing the racing product to Phillip Island to Adelaide, I think that that's a ten nil drubbing, you know, like Philip Island's always just going to put on better racing. But then it's about more than that. You know, this is something Moto GP has wanted to do and you can certainly see how it's going to be spectacular having it there, even if the racing isn't spectacular. The whole show is spectacular. So there's just there's just so much going on with it. It's a it's a really tricky it's a really tricky scenario. And until we actually get there next year and see how it all plays out, they're just gonna be all unanswered questions. Hmm. It kinda reminds me of the Valencia old track around the circuit track. circuit ⁓ street circuit there. Yeah. In the way it sort of flows in parts. But I don't know, like I don't want to be a doomsdayer, so I'm not going to jump on top of it now, but it just seems a shame that we're gonna lose that old school Adelaide Street Circuit which has been the scene of some incredible racing. Incredible racing. Totally agree. I do agree with that. I I just hope that I hope it's all worth it. And I hope we do I hope that we do get a supercar circuit that also races really well. But I'll never not miss what we've got. It will always be one of the great modern supercar circuits, re regardless of what we get with the new circuit. It'll always be sorely missed. It's just a shame we can't have both if it does turn out to be a good circuit. That's the other thing I was wondering is look, that you could re you could bring back the old staircase looking at the way it sort of flows, this new track flows. It sort of runs alongside the old staircase in some regard. ⁓ which would be great because that was on the original F one circuit. but again, let like you said, I don't want to shit can it. I don't want it to be a doomsday. I just looked at that last night and thought, one, it's going to be billiard table smooth compared to the current track. ⁓ and two, just because you're moving w walls and barriers closer to the track, that doesn't make it a better racetrack. I don't care how we dress that up. ⁓ I know consequences and everything else because but that's that to me do isn't what makes a great racetrack. It can help with the optics, but again, if it wasn't for the fact that Albert Park has turned on such good racing in the Gen three era, I'd be I would be struggling to come up with the real positives of what we're seeing here. But that is that is a good thing. It is flowy. I agree with you. It does that is good because the second as soon as I was watching that thing, I was like, this just feels like Albert Park and how wide it is and all that sort of stuff. So that's the to me that's the that's the glimmer of hope that this could work. But again, it's just a shame we can't have both of them that you can't do one one week and one the next because what we know does definitely work is the existing Adelaide layout. But absolutely anyway, it's a the whole thing's a And expensive and complicated science, so but anyway, Bob, it was under a hundred, so get that into you. ⁓ Triple Eight boss, Jamie Wincup has called for Supercars and its team to park the parody debate and get on with racing in the Engiro Cup. Parody's once again at the forefront with the Forge domination Ipswich understood to have triggered reviews for Chev and Toyota. Supercars is required to launch an investigation if its track performance-based review system is triggered, but must only act if there is found to be a technical disparity. Chevrolet teams already enjoyed two aerodynamic parity changes early in the season. Win Cup has labelled any calls for a third one to be outrageous. He said the results aren't what they are because of a lack of parody. 1000% it's not that. I'll tell you what, these numbers between Bob Barnard and Jamie Win Cup, he's a thousand percent. Bob's throwing out hundred millions. ⁓ it's interesting this because I spoke to a couple of people during the week about this and One thing that even someone from the Chev side of the fence actually said was it could just be drivers. ⁓ yeah. It's this is something we did a reasonably deep dive on in the news pod last Friday for anybody that wants to go back and have a listen to that. But effectively, yeah, one complicating factor is is that obviously the Chev didn't leave the wind tunnel the same way that it went into it, as in the spec that Triple Eight was running last year. That would have made this whole debate a little bit easier to kind of sort through because you could always just say, well, hang on a minute. Like those triple A Camaros were pretty fast last year. But you can't quite make that like for like. But I mean, yeah, there there's you can what I will say is, you know, effectively we're in a position is that we believe there is background work going on on the GM side in terms of Aero. As Wink up pointed out, he was furious with the second arrow change granted to Kamara for Tasmania. And he's furious at the idea that another one could be coming before the bend. And in fairness to to Jamie Wink up, there is an admirable level of consistency here. To the point that Triple Eight doesn't appear to be pursuing the engine changes that Ford and its former homologation team, DJR, pushed for last year for Bathurst around the barometric effects of the quad cam engine ⁓ at the Bathurst altitude. ⁓ and that's in itself really interesting because Ford itself and a lot of its teams are still convinced that that was the cause of any straight line deficit at Bathurst and will be an issue again this year. But Winkup seems to have set his stool out as nope, no changes. Like let's just I don't want changes. I don't want anyone else to have changes. His view is we have what we have, let's go to Bathurst and let's go racing. So there's at least a lot of consistency there, and that may strengthen his argument. The fact that he's saying, Well, look. You know, if they think they're at an aero disadvantage, there's people that think they're at an engine advantage at Bathurst. So let's just go there and find out. Let's go and see what's going on. So it's it's still gonna be fascinating to see how things play out from here, but ⁓ it is yeah, well, I guess that's it. It's just gonna be fascinating to see how things play out from here. We know that we know that this is the time of year that the politician goes into overdrive. ⁓ we know that. Changes are meant to happen before the bend if they're going to happen. ⁓ so the next week or so could be fairly interesting. We'll go to Formula One because Nikola Solov has taken the next step towards a potential F one promotion after completing his first test with Red Bulls at Imola. The Formula Two champ leader, and probably gonna be champion, truth be known, covered six hundred ninety kilometers aboard the twenty twenty five V Carb O two during a testing of previous cars day at the Italian circuit. It wouldn't be a bad day out, to be honest. ⁓ it marks Zolov's first experience behind the wheel of FY machinery and comes as the nineteen year old increasingly emerges as a factor in Red Bull's decisions over its twenty twenty-seven driver lineups. Currently Max Verstappen has already committed to his future, ⁓ leaving three seats across Red Bull and Racing Bulls potentially available to Liam Lawson, Isaac Hadger and Arvid Lindblad, and of course Zolov. Racing Bulls team principal Alan Alan Parmain ⁓ dismissed suggestions in July that Zolov had already been promised a seat, but made clear how highly he was regarded with Red Bull ⁓ and their development structure. ⁓ there was the rumour about he'd already been promised a seat. I mean that came out in a couple of media outlets. But y if that's the case, let's just say it is, they're not gonna sack Linblad a year in. Hadjar's probably been the best teammate Max has had since Checko. Which leaves Liam ABL. Yep. That is a hundred percent right. And I'm sh I'm sure he hasn't been promised anything, but ultimately like if he's part of the Red Bull junior program, as and this is Solov I'm talking about, and he's and he wins the Formula Two championship, like what do we do with him? What more is he meant to do? Yeah. Like what what actually more can he do in terms of trying to earn a chance in Formula One? And I've said this before, but it's just a shame that the Red Bull program is set up as it is. Because Lawson and Lindblad is actually a pretty awesome midfield lineup. Yes. In terms of drivers. And you'd think that there's other midfield teams out there that would be pretty happy with a lineup that good. And they'd be happy to lock it down and just move forward with it and go, right, we got two good drivers here we can kind of try and win this midfield battle with. But, you know, the the Red Bull system is just different even from other junior driver category ⁓ sort of ⁓ set ups because You know, if you look at your Alpines or your Mercedes or whatever, they don't have the junior F one team. They've kind of got this fallback of saying, Look, you've done a great job on the way up through the junior categories, but we just have nowhere for you to go right now. But Red Bull doesn't have the freedom of doing that with its young drivers because it does have pl somewhere for them to go. It's literally got a junior F one team for this exact reason. So you can understand on the Solov side that he's going, Well hang on a minute, like when do I get my chance? I've just won the F two championship. ⁓ But then someone's gonna miss out and it doesn't feel overly fair because none of the current four Red Bull F1 drivers are doing a bad job. So ⁓ yeah, it really just comes down to the fact that Racing Bulls has to be a revolving door. And that's left Liam Lawson in a really uncomfortable position because you know probably had his best year so far. Well, but and but he's also been on the RB Red Bull racing merry-go round before. So he's kind of got that damaged goods tag as well, rightly or wrongly, because of the fact that well, he's kind of still on that merry go round. I he was driving a Red Bull, you know, a try a week and a half ago. So at the end of the day, as you pointed out at the very top of this ⁓ discussion point, he's the one that just ends up being most in danger of being forced out of that revolving door. Mm. For right or for wrong. Yeah. And then I just ⁓ I don't know how many seats are up for grabs. ⁓ I think we're actually Touch on that later on the show, but yeah, yeah. It's gonna be interesting times for Liam. And like I say, I think this year he's really come of age. He's actually shown that he's a hard nosed, go get him kind of racer. And when they leaned on him to go to Red Bull last week, he actually did a great job. He did a great job. But you have to wonder whether that was the hospital pass or not. You know, like I I feel like they they didn't want to put Limblad in that position. Yeah. Because like it was a bit of a hiding to to nothing unless it played out exactly as it did. And he did do a great job and that's awesome. But he's just kind of been left in that no man's land now where you just do rely on the fact that Red Bull doesn't feel like there's anyone good enough to come up and take one of those seats. Yep. And unfortunately, ⁓ Solov is kind of making life difficult on that front by doing such a good job in F two. Which I mean Just quickly, the amount of ⁓ Red Bull development drivers that have come through Formula Two in the last five or six years, he's really one of the first to actually push make a second stake a claim. So this is a new territory for Red Bull in some regard. Yep. ⁓ Lando Norris will continue as a McLaren F one driver and until at least the end of the twenty thirty season, thanks to a fresh deal with the team. The reigning world champion has extended his contract to run through to twenty thirty with a multi year option beyond that season. The new deal was announced by Norris during opening day at the McLaren Technology Center. As part of the announcement, Norris was also gifted with a signing bonus of sorts, a MCL thirty-nine F1 car that he raced during his title winning season. The deal secures McLaren's lineup for the foreseeable future, with Oscar Piastri having extended his deal last year. With that con continuity important for team boss Andrea Stella. He said with him and Oscar we know we can count not only on one of the strongest partnerships, but also ⁓ one of the most united and close knit teams in Formula One. There you go. That's good news. Does this affect Oscar any more than it ⁓ his current season is affecting him? ⁓ no I don't think so. I mean it's ⁓ he's locked in I think until the end of twenty eight twenty nine I think it is. Yeah. Twenty nine I think he's a free agent. Yeah. Yeah okay so he's got his own ⁓ he's got his own deal there. ⁓ so no I don't think so. I think it like ultimately every driver on the grid, particularly those driving for teams capable of winning races, like the thing that protects them most is Max Verstappen signing that new deal. You know? And it's funny how we're seeing a lot of these things fall into place now that the biggest domino of them all has fallen. So suddenly there is a new deal for ⁓ for Lando and and you know not that I don't think Lando is in any danger of being replaced by Max at No, I don't I to be perfectly honest, I never really felt like McLaren had any plans to change his lineup. In their shortage term. Yeah, you're always strong on that. Yeah. Yep. ⁓ yeah. All right, Kiwi's Nossies overseas, and it was a big weekend. In IndyCar qualifying for the Milwaukee Mile, saw Scotty McLaughlin go fastest, but he copped a nine lap penalty for a new engine to start tenth. Will power started third. Scotty Dixon fifteenth and Marcus Armstrong sixteenth. ⁓ in the race, McLaughlin climbed back to second, which was an outstanding drive. ⁓ Pit Lane speeding penalty denied Will Power a shot at his first indicar win for the year. He finished fourteenth, Scotty Nixon fifteenth, and Armstrong sixteenth. The race was won by Pato O'Ward. Did you see that McLaughlin got a nine lap penalty for a new injury? Nine ⁓ I did say nine lap penalty. That's poor. That's a heck of a drive to get back to second. Nine laps down. Look at how Brocky Brocky's very impressed by that. The ghost defeater Brock came and went and watched that, he said. ⁓ leave that in, Grant. That's a beauty. ⁓ NASCAR trackhouse racing found its feet at the right time in the I Love Canada four hundred at Daytona as all three cars made the top ten, led by pole position winner Ross Chastain. Teammate Shane Van Gisbergen started the final race of the NASCAR Cup Series regular season ⁓ from sixth in the race. SVG took avoiding action and spun on the back straight while running twelfth and was ultimately classified twenty-seventh. The result meant he didn't make the chase as race winner. Ryan Priest jumped SVG by sixteen points to make the chase, which was all sorts of bad news. In WRC, Kiwi Hayden Paddon reminded Hyundai of his immense ability as he and co-driver John Kenneth ⁓ claimed second at Rally Paraguay, while Ozzy Taylor Gill finished fourth in WRC two and tenth outright, which is a good ⁓ outcome. In Moto GP in the sprint race, Mark Marquez pinpointed Marco Bezecchi's soft tire choice as the trigger for an aggressive turn one pass to secure sprint ⁓ race victory ⁓ to prevent him from ⁓ sorry he had to do that to prevent Bezzecki from escaping up the road. The Spaniard acknowledged that both his brother Alex and Bezzecki possessed strong race pace, making a repeat performance in the GP the next day, far from guaranteed, but he did it anyway with win number seventy-seven in his Moto GP career. He beat home. Future teammate Pedro Acosta. I tell you what, 2027's gonna be all sorts of interesting with them two in the same bike. Marco Bazecchi was third. ⁓ Mark is now second place on the championship table, nineteen points behind Jorge Martin. It's unbelievable. ⁓ believable. Did you see the celebration in front of the ⁓ the Mark Marquez grandstand after the race? ⁓ I think someone in our Discord said that place looks like the bend. That all of a sudden there's this massive grandstand sitting there. ⁓ yeah, but it was just spectacular, wasn't it? That was amazing. That was just great TV. Like the theatre of that was just so cool. Yep. ⁓ Moto two, Australia's center Agius qualified eleventh and in the race he charged through to a very impressive fourth. He sits third in the championship. In Moto three, Joel Kelso qualified fifteenth and he got to th thirteenth. Well, Cormac Buchanan from New Zealand, he qualified sixteenth after I don't know if you've seen this AVL, the absolute mother of all high sides in practice. In the race, he had another massive crash that seen him stretch it off, which is bad news. I haven't heard how he is, but that's not great at all. ⁓ Jack Miller has called time on Moto GP career after Pramack Yamaha failed to re-sign him for next season, leaving him to head to the World Superbush with Yamaha. Where if you're not on a Duke Caddy, you're probably not going to be a race winner at the moment anyway. Also, on two wheels, congratulations to the MILF Hunter, Hunter Lawrence, who is your new Pro Motocross Championship 450 champion, beating home brother and title favorite, jet at Iron Man Raceway on Saturday. And while we're on two wheels, Australia defeated Denmark, Poland, and Great Britain in Warsaw to claim its first Speedway World Cup crown since two thousand and two. All right. We'll take a break and we'll come back with under the rovers. Creditude Winter could spell bad news for your vehicle's battery. Here are three maintenance tips from the battery gurus at R<unk>J Batteries. 1. Avoid frequent short trips to keep your battery at a healthy state of charge. 2. Keep the battery terminals clean and corrosion free. 3. Avoid running your accessories with the engine off for too long. If your battery is three years or older, it might be time to get it tested for free at your local R<unk>J batteries. R<unk>J Batteries Power like nothing else. Yeah, welcome back. I thought we'd revisit Unders or Overs Avial, one of our favourite ⁓ segments because a lot of thinking and lots and lots of talking. So ⁓ I'm gonna give you a number with a subject. You just tell me whether it's an under or over judgment on your part. And these are out of the Discord, right? This was a Discord. A lot of these are out of the Discord. Well a lot of ⁓ I'll attribute to them as we go, but over or under two point five Toyota finishes at Bathurst. That's from John O'Baikoff. Well, it's a good one. For the sake of being the optimist that I am, I'll go with overs. ⁓ if we were going straight into Bathis now, that could be troubling, but we do have the bend as a as a pretty big shakedown for the B spec engine. So let's ⁓ be optimistic and say there will be more than two point five Toyotes that make the end of the Bathus one thousand. Yeah, I'll say unders. ⁓ Yes ⁓ we can forget that next one. Will Brown It was about SVG making the chase just in case anyone wants to do Halfway through the race. Will Brown averaging f a finish finishing position for the rest of the year under or over five point five. This is a really good one. This I I really got to think about this one. I mean it the tricky part at this point of the year is some big results in the enduro's put you a long way ahead of that fifth place curve. But some bad results there put you a long way behind it as well. So ⁓ I I do think there's still a bit of inconsistency that triple eight in general needs to get on top of. And then we've got the new the engineer switch thing on the car triple eight side of the garage. So I'll be the pessimist on this one and go overs. Yeah I'm saying overs as well. I just think fifth will almost get someone a championship from if they that's what that's exactly what I was what I was kind of thinking as well. And you just got to think about how many strong cars there are at the front of the field. And we'll just add to that now, he's kind of back in the game, so to speak. But yeah, could could just be overs, could easily go the other way. And he could end up with a big trophy as well. That's the kind of fun part of this whole thing. ⁓ under or over one and a half chefs in the top ten shootout at the bend from Billy Bob seventeen. ⁓ I'm gonna go with overs. There's been some rookie testing going on there. You would think that like a sort of premiere and and juice combination are gonna be back in the frame to be a bit better support for for the teammate in cars. We know that that Dave Reynolds steps up during Enduro time. ⁓ you remember the Erebus cars were super quick at the Ben last year and and a few other things. So I'll again I'll I'll revert back to Optimus mode and go to ⁓ to overs. I'm gonna say overs, but if you had of made the number two point five orders unders, you do the maths from there. ⁓ this one from the North Coast eels. Over under one and a half the number of triple eight cars alive in the grand final in Adelaide. ⁓ that's a beauty as well. Given I've already flame Wheel Brown, probably massively unfairly. I may as well stick with it. Go with under. ⁓ I'll say unders as well. over or under three and a half driver movements in the twenty twenty seven supercar silly season. That's from Isaac Newton. I'm feeling unders at the moment. I think there are there are a few question marks out there, maybe up to four, which would just put it at the over, but if you sort of count in the changes that end up actually happening, I think it's probably gonna be under the three point five. Yeah, I'll say two. So unders. ⁓ over or under thirteen and a half the number of supercar rounds next year is from Josh Harris. Overs it just ha it has to be. Sanity has to prevail. Yeah, optimism's gonna take over here. I'm gonna say overs, but geez. what about this? Under or over one and a half silly season driver moves in F one. Jeez, it does feel quiet on that front, doesn't it? Now that Max has kind of locked himself down and all that sort of stuff. I think I'm gonna go with unders on this one. There's kind of only one seat I can really feel that there could be change in at the moment. I'm gonna say two. And one of them will feed into the other. Well what do you think? I think Liam might replace the Hulk. Wow. There you go. You heard it here first if it does happen. Well, I don't know if you have heard of it at first. I've read it a couple of places. So Under or over seven. So you haven't read it anywhere reputable, so that means it's we can claim it. Under or over seven point five, the amount of pit stops for the winner of the one thousand this year. That's from Cheerdog. How many was there last year? ⁓ that would have been skewed by the changing for wets anyway. Yeah. No, I've got absolutely no idea. I'll say overs. I'll say overs as well. ⁓ from Steve R. Under or over? three point five the number of podiums that Moto GP championship leader Jorge Martin will get for the rest of the season. There must be a reason for asking this question because there's a he's gone off the boil, my friend. He has gone off the boil. I'll follow you on this one. What do you reckon? Yeah, unders. Unders. I don't think he win the title. In fact I I think of the of the team I think he will run second in his in his team so for April yeah. ⁓ under or over five point five race wins for Kimmy for the rest of the season. That's from Xmas forty six. This is a great question. It is. ⁓ I'll go over 'cause I feel like he probably should have won in Zanvoard and I still think he's got the edge on George. So I think there's a I think there's a fair few wins in his immediate future. McLaren are getting good. That's the thing. Yeah, they're gonna be good everywhere. Are we gonna see a bit of a tail off in at some some of the little grip circuits or whatever? I don't know. No, it's a it's a you're right, it's a it's a beauty. The back end of the season's the low grip track, so you probably say that traditionally that's not where Oscar's gone well, so that leaves just Lando. So yeah. ⁓ under or over two point five, the number of positions Groves strategy is worth versus triple eight come the finals. That's from Johnsky. Yeah, great question. It's hard to bet against Groves on strategy. Whether it's worth whether they're three positions smarter than triple eight is a big claim. Yeah. So I'll go under, but under could still be what makes the difference when it comes to getting some pretty handy Silvoy. I really want to disagree with you, but I think I'm the same. I think they definitely is they are definitely on top of their game. Yep. But three positions is that's big. ⁓ and these two are off the back of a couple of very robust discussions on the Discord during the week. Thomas Randall will win under or over one point five supercar races as a primary driver in his career. Over. He'll win a handful of races as a primary. I'm pretty sure of that. Nah, under. ⁓ Macaulay Jones has under or over one point five more seasons in supercars. ⁓ I'll say over, but like it's he's in control of his own destiny. And if he wants to keep racing and doing the work to retain his seat, then he'll keep racing and doing it. Yeah, I think I think overs myself. It's hard to say, but I would imagine I can't imagine he's going to ⁓ to want to walk away from the sport in the next two seasons. No. Not while ever the the stickers on the side of the car, I'm sure it'll be all okay. All right. We'll go to a break and we'll come back with Rear of Grid and some talk about the live show. Yeah, welcome back to Rear of Grid AVL. ⁓ how's the live show looking? Tell me about it. It's lo it's looking I'm very relieved, let's put it that way, because I had many sleepless nights staring at the ste ceiling, wondering if anyone would bother to come to one of these things and ⁓ I gotta be honest. I mean, ⁓ for those that don't know the details, ⁓ the Wednesday night of Bathus One Thousand Week at the Tatterswolves Hotel, we are doing a live show. ⁓ we'll have a couple of very special guests. We were meant to be on public sale by now and we've had a few hold ups on that front, not through any issues with the show or anything, just in terms of some of the marketing around it. But obviously those in the Discord have had the link since ⁓ what was it, a week and a half or so now? No, not even. Yeah. We are pretty much three quarters sold out. Without going to public sale. So ⁓ we might not get to public sale. We may do. But we may not as well. So nothing personal against the public, but it'd be nice if we didn't have to go to the public. Yeah. So you do still have the opportunity to sign up as a member and get access to the Discord and then get your access to what were meant to be early release tickets but might just become the tickets because they might all be gone. Yeah ⁓ but amazing support from from our members. ⁓ we've already got, you know Where we've got a good crowd. If n if we don't sell another ticket from here on in, it's gonna be a fantastic night. And ⁓ we will endeavor to get ⁓ on public sale if they don't sell out beforehand. But if you are keen on coming along, this will be ⁓ no phones, not recorded. ⁓ y if you're not in the room, you'll What happens in the room stays in the room. Yeah. Yep. Yeah, you will not hear the stories and that sort of stuff. We we are doing this in conjunction with authentic collectibles. So you will get your phone back in time to be able to pay for some for what Sounds like could be a fairly special offering that they're gonna have for the night. and it's just all coming together so well. And I'm just super excited. Like it's ⁓ it's such a cool thing. I should say that someone genuinely reached out and said, I'd love to come, but I've got my kids. Can kids come? I'd love to say yes, but Uncle Former probably won't be in a state to be worried about kids. So I did I did wonder how I did see that message and I thought, how are we going to approach? I probably would have said, Look, it's ta you're the parents stuffed to you. No, no, no, no. But you shut it down pretty quickly and said, I don't think this is going to be a kid friendly show. So that that probably tells you something about what's going to go on that not. I feel like we would be turning those kids into delinquents within the space of the first hour and a half of the show. So ⁓ no, as far as maybe we would look at that some other stage where we could do some sort of lighter family friendly show, but there it'll be no phones for lots of reasons and I don't think bringing ⁓ kids whilst I I'm all for educating kids, maybe maybe not that quickly. ⁓ all right, let's do some credit or shreddits. I'm gonna make a statement. You just tell me if you agree or disagree with a credit or a shreddit. We'll come back after we've done the t all six. Number one, Tom Cruise is making a Days of Thunder sequel with Ann Hathaway. It will easily be a better movie than the Brad Pitt F one movie. Mm credit. Credit. Although Tom, what have you done to your head? ⁓ number two, in the same week that the FIA called out Argentinian fans for abuse of officials, it was announced that Franco Colapinto will remain with Alpine for the twenty twenty seven, forming the one season. The person who looks after the FIA social media is gonna need a pay rise. Credit. Number three, FIA President Mohammed Ben Salaim. Has suggested reintroducing refueling to Formula One as a means of making the cars run at a lower weight. This is a great idea. ⁓ shred it. Yeah, Shredd. Number four. Heritage and historical race cars with cigarette branding should be able to run on TV without having to alter their liveries. ⁓ credit. Credit. Number five. Losing a lot of the famous Adelaide characteristics for supercars is worth it to get a MotoGB track in the middle of a city. I'm gonna say credit. Shredded. Number six, and this is the biggest one of the week. In Alan's Party Mix Lollies, Peaches and Cream are an absolute passenger. Nah Shredd. Credit. Right ⁓ Tom Cruise, Days of Thunder, but no Nicole Kidman. I know that would have been quite interesting to see that all come back together, but ⁓ Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I I went credit. I think the F one movie was okay. ⁓ It was a sort of that weird I don't know, I I don't I'm not fully up to speed with how much NASCAR has to do with the Days of Thunder now franchise, but obviously the F one thing was literally called F one the movie. Like it was about F one and it was like okay but I feel like there's more blockbuster factor and potential to to this than there was with the F one movie. The F one movie kinda had to it had to walk this really ⁓ Difficult line between being like, you know, having some element of realism to it, and there wasn't a whole lot of it, but having some element of realism to it and being a Hollywood movie where Days of Thunder just feels more like a Hollywood franchise from top to bottom. Yeah. ⁓ I'm looking forward to it. ⁓ the same week if Frank of Colapino is now staying in Formula One, the FIA social media ⁓ person is gonna need a pay rise. Mate, from all reports, absolute savages on the FIA ⁓ social media, ⁓ Argentinian fans. Yeah, it does seem like a tough gig when the Argentine fans do get involved. I reckon the Alpine admin might have his or her her hand out for some cash as well, because like when things don't go well for Franco, they tend to ⁓ cop it to the point where they're putting out press releases saying, We can assure you we are not sabotaging this bloke. ⁓ that's ⁓ that's pretty wild. And you were saying before we started recording that you agree with when England invaded the Falkland Islands. You just want to take us through your thoughts around that. I can assure you I said nothing of the ⁓ of the kind. ⁓ Mohammed Bed Salaam suggested refueling to Formula One. This is a great idea. You said shred it. Yeah, there's a bunch of legitimate reasons why it was taken away. And I've and I've heard some people that know a lot more about F one than I do talk about how it actually narrows strategy options rather than widening them. and yeah, it's a long discussion to go through all of that, but I d I don't sort of feel like it's ⁓ it's something that F one massively misses, to be honest. I'll go with the idea if you take all the batteries out as part of the ⁓ refueling. ⁓ I thought you had ⁓ w well, you've got to change the batteries during the stop. Like turn the car turn the car on its ⁓ on its side and get like a ⁓ the screwdriver out and gloves on in case it backfires on him. So yeah. ⁓ Heritage and historical race cars should be able to run with cigarette branding as liveries if that's how they ran originally. Yeah. I mean, like in an era of illegal tobacco and vapes and firebings, and it does just seem like such an odd thing for any anti-tobacco lobby to be concerned about, to be honest. Like it just haven't you got something else to worry about? I mean, that is just outrageous. Yeah, there would have been some convenience store on fire, you know, like within ten minutes of Sydney Motorsport Park at some point over the weekend, but we're worried about stickers on race cars that weren't even cigarette branding. So it's like something I've got a lot of time for. I had three T shirts, Peter Stuyvesant Mazda T shirt. I had a Freeport Ford Sierra T shirt from Tony Longhurst and I had a Winfield racing T shirt and I didn't take up the dairy, so I don't know, maybe there's something in that. ⁓ but saying that I've firebombed a lot of tobacco shops in the last couple weeks. ⁓ Losing the famous Adelaide characteristics is fair if we're going to pick up a Moto GP race in the middle of a city. It's probably right. It's probably right. I hope it's right. There will be a lot of eyes on Adelaide next November, more so than if it was just the Supercars Grand Final. So it probably is a risk worth taking for the SA government. Yeah. I don't not share your concerns. I don't not share your concerns and I and I and I don't not share your your sadness, but in terms of like is it worth it? There's a good chance it will be. Okay. And finally, peaches and creams are an abomination. I don't mind ⁓ man Get those black cats out of the way. ⁓ put hair on your chest. They're all right. Nah. Nah. Get you're not you're not gonna just go for a big handful. Chuck 'in your gob and be offended by Peaches and Cream. But if a black cat speaks in there. Next time we do the blind rankings, we're gonna do Alan's party mix lollies. And you're gonna wonder whether the last one is gonna be black cats or peaches and cream. ⁓ all right. Whisper of the week. And I thought I'd ask you this. I heard it from two different people. All right about Toyota teams in supercars have gone to gone to the governing body to ask about the possibilities for introducing a push-rod engine. You heard this? ⁓ no. I think there was some discussion around whether they needed to change the displacement of the engine around some of this ⁓ reliability issues, but I hadn't heard that's a that's a major change. That's ⁓ that's not a ⁓ yeah. That's not a small change. That's a big change. Knocked on the end of happening the short term. All right.
