- 0:38Speaker 3: If any of you are just joining us, we have
- 0:42Speaker 3: an awesome interview that we did with none other than
- 0:46Speaker 3: Sean Porter Showtime Sean Porter himself. I was lucky enough
- 0:49Speaker 3: to get to meet him last week. I was invited
- 0:51Speaker 3: the show, was invited to a press conference in Phoenix.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Uh.
- 0:55Speaker 3: And you know, if you're just joining us now, go
- 0:58Speaker 3: back to check out our previous episode. We released that
- 1:00Speaker 3: interview on the audio platforms. It's on YouTube. You can
- 1:04Speaker 3: check our playlist out on the nineteen Media group channel.
- 1:08Speaker 3: And yeah, it's did about ten minutes with the guy.
- 1:10Speaker 3: If you don't know Sean Porter, you know he's a
- 1:13Speaker 3: very well known popular boxer, well regarded in the sport.
- 1:17Speaker 3: He's retired in twenty twenty one, or actually didn't he
- 1:23Speaker 3: looked it up. When was the buttfight? Was it around then?
- 1:25Speaker 3: Twenty one? Twenty two?
- 1:27Speaker 2: Was I twenty two?
- 1:28Speaker 3: If I'm not mistaken, Yeah, but sorry, I don't have
- 1:31Speaker 3: that off the top of my head. But he's now retired,
- 1:33Speaker 3: and he showed up in Phoenix because he is promoting
- 1:37Speaker 3: an event that we'll talk about as well. But yeah,
- 1:40Speaker 3: I just couldn't believe that I had the opportunity to
- 1:42Speaker 3: meet the guy. He's now a broadcaster, you know, a commentator.
- 1:45Speaker 3: He's still in the boxing world chatting about it, and
- 1:49Speaker 3: he seems he's always seemed like the nicest guy in
- 1:51Speaker 3: the world, and it really he doesn't seem any different
- 1:54Speaker 3: in person talking to him. Let's be honest, like I'm
- 1:56Speaker 3: a nobody, but he still seemed very enthusiastic about.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Hold on time out, time out, time out, time out,
- 2:03Speaker 2: time out, stop that ship. You can't say you're nobody
- 2:05Speaker 2: once you have podcasts, once you have done something over
- 2:08Speaker 2: a year, you're not a nobody. You can't say that.
- 2:11Speaker 2: We've interviewed too many people that forty episodes you've been
- 2:14Speaker 2: to events. You ain't no nobody. You there's a chance
- 2:19Speaker 2: that the supporter is gonna be in the Hall of
- 2:20Speaker 2: Fame one day. Yeah, you're not a nobody, So don't
- 2:24Speaker 2: refer to yourself as that. That ain't that ain't it?
- 2:27Speaker 2: You were definitely not nobody. You do this very well.
- 2:29Speaker 2: You have been very passionate about boxing. Your knowledge is
- 2:32Speaker 2: really high for people who do this. There's a lot
- 2:34Speaker 2: of people who are nobody's who would wish to be
- 2:38Speaker 2: as knowledgeable as you are. So not, no, don't, don't.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Don't put yourself in that regard.
- 2:42Speaker 3: Thank you. I do appreciate that. I say that in
- 2:45Speaker 3: comparison to you know, the guy's been on ESPN, the
- 2:47Speaker 3: guy's been on you know the Zone, he's interviewed with
- 2:50Speaker 3: you know, people that have thousands and thousands of viewers
- 2:53Speaker 3: and followers. You know, it seems like millions. But you
- 2:55Speaker 3: know that's fair. That's fair. You know, our show has
- 2:57Speaker 3: definitely come a long long way, uh, doing now media
- 3:00Speaker 3: events and yeah, just getting to it's it's surreal, man,
- 3:04Speaker 3: just seeing this guy on TV in the ring and
- 3:06Speaker 3: on interviews and then he's just standing right in front
- 3:09Speaker 3: of you, like five feet away. The only celebrity encounter
- 3:14Speaker 3: I've ever had is I once gave Danny Treyhoe a
- 3:16Speaker 3: ride in my car when I was in college when
- 3:19Speaker 3: he was in Phoenix. That's a whole other story. But
- 3:23Speaker 3: other than that, yeah, it's just it's just crazy. I mean,
- 3:25Speaker 3: you've you've talked to athletes, You've been in that world.
- 3:27Speaker 3: I have not, So it's definitely new and exciting for me.
- 3:32Speaker 3: And yeah, he just also seemed just just enthusing. He
- 3:35Speaker 3: just seems like he's really excited to answer questions. You know.
- 3:38Speaker 3: We talked about the big names that people should keep
- 3:44Speaker 3: an eye on to be the next big star.
- 3:46Speaker 2: You know.
- 3:47Speaker 3: We talked about his thoughts on why boxing isn't as
- 3:51Speaker 3: popular as when we were all growing up. He's thirty eight,
- 3:54Speaker 3: so he's run the same age we are. We talked
- 3:57Speaker 3: about we talked about the differences in audiences between MMA
- 4:02Speaker 3: and boxing. How he became an MMA fan. I asked
- 4:05Speaker 3: if there was a rivalry between that, because you kind
- 4:07Speaker 3: of see that sometimes and you can see hear his
- 4:09Speaker 3: opinion on that, and then we've got to make sure
- 4:13Speaker 3: that we give a shout out to the event. He's
- 4:15Speaker 3: actually he's one of the people behind the event. It's
- 4:18Speaker 3: called fight Club Phoenix. It is boxing and MMA under
- 4:23Speaker 3: the stars on Saturday, April eighteenth in downtown Phoenix. And
- 4:27Speaker 3: it's not just combat, it is they have vendors, they
- 4:31Speaker 3: have live music. You know, it's a big thing and
- 4:33Speaker 3: it sounds really really cool, and you know, he was
- 4:37Speaker 3: there to promote the event, and we're gonna go. You
- 4:41Speaker 3: just go to fight Clubphx dot com for event info
- 4:45Speaker 3: and tickets, and if you're watching us on YouTube, I'm
- 4:47Speaker 3: gonna put up a little graphic right here of the
- 4:51Speaker 3: poster of the event which you can see Jamison. You
- 4:54Speaker 3: see that. It's beautiful. But yeah, fight Clubpachex dot com
- 4:59Speaker 3: to check out this event. Another thing that I got
- 5:01Speaker 3: to do at that press conference is I interviewed a
- 5:03Speaker 3: few fighters who are actually going to be boxing at
- 5:06Speaker 3: the at the fight Club Phoenix event. So we're gonna
- 5:10Speaker 3: save that for next week. It'll be a bonus episode.
- 5:14Speaker 3: But yeah, three young guys fighting. I asked them their
- 5:16Speaker 3: way classes like one five max so so skit skinty
- 5:21Speaker 3: young guys, And yeah, it was really cool just to
- 5:24Speaker 3: see local talent being highlighted for this event. And yeah,
- 5:29Speaker 3: I'm really excited to share that interview with Hill next
- 5:31Speaker 3: week on the show. One thing we want to do now,
- 5:36Speaker 3: just a little preview. There is a fighter named Luis
- 5:40Speaker 3: Espinosa and he gave a really really cool shout out
- 5:44Speaker 3: at the press confers. So let me play that for
- 5:45Speaker 3: you right now.
- 5:47Speaker 4: If I can just do a shout out for my
- 5:50Speaker 4: wife's sisters, we started a foundation called the Infinite Bond Foundation,
- 5:55Speaker 4: which it brings awareness to domestic violence. They lost their
- 5:59Speaker 4: lives shouting to a domestic violence issue, and so I
- 6:04Speaker 4: just want to bring awareness to that and just if
- 6:07Speaker 4: you know anybody that's going through it, just please feel
- 6:10Speaker 4: free to reach out and just know that you're not alone.
- 6:14Speaker 3: Awesome. So yeah, we're also going to put that up
- 6:16Speaker 3: on the screen if you're watching on YouTube. So if
- 6:18Speaker 3: you need help, please go to the Infinite Bondfoundation dot
- 6:22Speaker 3: org or call area code four eight zero eight nine
- 6:26Speaker 3: zero three zero three nine. So thanks so much to
- 6:29Speaker 3: Luisa Spinoza for for mentioning that to us. All right, Jameson,
- 6:35Speaker 3: let's get into the show proper. We have a couple
- 6:37Speaker 3: of things that we need to discuss after our last episode,
- 6:39Speaker 3: the first one being we previewed the fight between Sebastian
- 6:43Speaker 3: Fundora and Keith Thurman. We were both wondering what Keith
- 6:47Speaker 3: Thurman would look like after being out of the ring
- 6:49Speaker 3: for a few years. I thought maybe it was a
- 6:51Speaker 3: stepping stone for for Nora, but it turns out it
- 6:54Speaker 3: was more like sending a lamp to the slaughter the
- 6:57Speaker 3: poor guy. What was your take on Keith Thurman's before
- 7:00Speaker 3: Ormans It was a six round stoppage by the ref,
- 7:02Speaker 3: he said. Keith Thurman said, no, you know, he shouldn't
- 7:05Speaker 3: let me go. I still had more in me. But
- 7:07Speaker 3: I don't know. What did you think, Nah, it's over.
- 7:11Speaker 3: It is over.
- 7:13Speaker 2: I know people who are at to fight. I got
- 7:15Speaker 2: message midfight and was like, oh, no, he doesn't need
- 7:20Speaker 2: to be boxing anymore. That's how bad it was. It
- 7:22Speaker 2: looked like a god has been honest sabbatical for a while. Also,
- 7:26Speaker 2: boxing is also a young man's game. I think we
- 7:29Speaker 2: forget about that. In most cases, boxing is a young
- 7:31Speaker 2: man's game. The amount of energy, the amount of skill set.
- 7:36Speaker 2: Unless you're like a superpower fighter, boxing is a real
- 7:40Speaker 2: young man's game for which you have to do to win
- 7:42Speaker 2: a fight and to put pressure on your opponent. You
- 7:45Speaker 2: need as much energy and effort as possible to do so.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Keith Thurman looked washed. He looked washed, and when you're washed,
- 7:53Speaker 2: you've got to retire do media like other guys. But
- 7:56Speaker 2: it's over. We don't need to see him boxing anymore.
- 7:59Speaker 2: Not only could he wasn't good, but we don't need
- 8:00Speaker 2: him his health being impacted in Jebardy. But it's over.
- 8:05Speaker 3: Yeah, Keith Thurman's whole thing is that he he was
- 8:08Speaker 3: setting up Fondorra. He says that he saw video that
- 8:11Speaker 3: he looks very sloppy in the later rounds, and that
- 8:15Speaker 3: he was setting him up and that he was gonna,
- 8:17Speaker 3: you know, be able to catch him, et cetera. He
- 8:18Speaker 3: said that he was, he still felt good. He still
- 8:20Speaker 3: could take a lot more punishment, you know what. And
- 8:23Speaker 3: maybe that's true. Maybe he could still have lasted a
- 8:27Speaker 3: few more rounds and taken a lot of that, you
- 8:30Speaker 3: know that, a lot of those punches and still been
- 8:33Speaker 3: on his feet. But a ref isn't gonna know that
- 8:36Speaker 3: He's not gonna always keep seeing is that you keep
- 8:37Speaker 3: getting your ass kicked. Your face looks terrible, not to
- 8:40Speaker 3: say that. People's faces sort of indicate how how well
- 8:44Speaker 3: you're doing in the fight or not and whether you
- 8:45Speaker 3: want or not. But I don't blame the ref for
- 8:48Speaker 3: that stuff. Stoppage. The ref even said even if not
- 8:52Speaker 3: in that same round the sixth, the one before, he said,
- 8:54Speaker 3: you know, Keith showed me something, and I'm sorry, Keith,
- 8:57Speaker 3: you did not. You did not show the ref something.
- 9:01Speaker 3: So I agree with the stoppage and you know, shout
- 9:04Speaker 3: out to the best. I don't think Keith Thurman should
- 9:07Speaker 3: come back. I don't know. I think you're right. I
- 9:08Speaker 3: think maybe he just kind of focus on commentary, like
- 9:12Speaker 3: Sean Porter, Keith come on the show talk to us.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Definitely. Also, it's more of a situation where we want
- 9:18Speaker 2: guys being safe and healthy. We don't need guys injo
- 9:21Speaker 2: themselves put themselves in danger when it comes to fighting,
- 9:24Speaker 2: because we know how that can lead to. So it
- 9:27Speaker 2: looked like a guy that didn't need to be boxing anymore.
- 9:29Speaker 2: And when that's the case, we gotta go ahead and
- 9:31Speaker 2: hang it up.
- 9:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that, you know, he uh, there's a
- 9:36Speaker 3: lot of pride in this and I understand, you know,
- 9:38Speaker 3: but again, there's it's different from saying I don't know
- 9:41Speaker 3: that you can't you're too old to play tennis anymore.
- 9:44Speaker 3: This isn't the same kind of sport. You can't be
- 9:46Speaker 3: putting yourself onto that kind of No disrespect to tennis players,
- 9:49Speaker 3: but I'm sorry. It's just not the same to put
- 9:51Speaker 3: yourself under that abuse. Plus here's another thing too, That
- 9:56Speaker 3: hiatus out of the ring does make a big difference.
- 9:59Speaker 3: I don't know what it's like, because you know, I'm
- 10:01Speaker 3: not a professional, but it can't not matter. Even if
- 10:05Speaker 3: you're training hard at the gym, even if you're going
- 10:07Speaker 3: every day, even if you're sparring, it cannot be the
- 10:11Speaker 3: same as actually being in the ring against an opponent
- 10:16Speaker 3: and fighting, as opposed to really to sparring with somebody
- 10:19Speaker 3: that isn't trying to knock you out and you know,
- 10:21Speaker 3: beat the shit out of you. Let's be honest. And
- 10:23Speaker 3: this was only his third fight since twenty nineteen, once
- 10:25Speaker 3: last year, then went back in twenty twenty two, so.
- 10:29Speaker 2: That ain't it. But also he's also a guy that
- 10:31Speaker 2: never got the mega fight. If you look back at
- 10:34Speaker 2: his career, you look back at the way divisions he
- 10:37Speaker 2: was in and the potential fights he could have gotten.
- 10:40Speaker 2: He never got the mega Mega fight at the right
- 10:43Speaker 2: time to where he's fighting somebody at the peak of
- 10:45Speaker 2: their career. He's the peak of his. He never quite
- 10:48Speaker 2: got the opportunity. I'm not so sure why there was
- 10:51Speaker 2: such a layoff with him. I don't quite remember. I
- 10:53Speaker 2: remember at one point there was some sort of injury,
- 10:55Speaker 2: but that didn't need to be lasting, you know, three years.
- 10:58Speaker 2: I don't know. I mean, oh, COVID, you know you
- 11:01Speaker 2: Mintioned Tell's nineteen, so COVID takes out a year. But
- 11:04Speaker 2: still there's two years there. I mean, there's a lot
- 11:06Speaker 2: going on. I'd love to hear from him and for
- 11:08Speaker 2: him to explain his you know, absences and whatnot. But
- 11:12Speaker 2: if this is it, hell of a career for sure,
- 11:14Speaker 2: like hell of a career, great boxer in his prime.
- 11:16Speaker 2: But we look back at it, he won't be remembered
- 11:19Speaker 2: as some other guys. But we look back at this era,
- 11:21Speaker 2: he will be mentioned. This won't be the same as
- 11:23Speaker 2: some other guys that were the same era.
- 11:26Speaker 3: No disrespect to him, you know, I'm not clowning him
- 11:29Speaker 3: for getting in that ring against a Sebastian Fundoda. But yeah,
- 11:32Speaker 3: I think if he walks away, he's going to be
- 11:34Speaker 3: remembered for a good career. And I think this is
- 11:36Speaker 3: going to be again a stepping stone, just another great
- 11:41Speaker 3: performance from Fundor to keep his star rising. And that's okay.
- 11:44Speaker 3: You know, this happens a lot. You get the young
- 11:47Speaker 3: guy who's hungry, and you know, you put him against
- 11:50Speaker 3: the big name because of the legacy, and you want
- 11:52Speaker 3: to see what he does against someone with a long
- 11:54Speaker 3: history lung career, as he's a veteran. But honestly, other
- 11:59Speaker 3: than if you irricasions, this is how it goes. The
- 12:01Speaker 3: younger guy kind of says, you know, all right, well
- 12:04Speaker 3: it's my turn now, I'm I'm next on the list
- 12:06Speaker 3: to be the big name, and I think this is
- 12:08Speaker 3: what we saw. So shout out to Keith Thurman. And
- 12:11Speaker 3: you know, also, I mean its mad respect to him
- 12:15Speaker 3: for still being on his feet after those six rounds
- 12:20Speaker 3: taking that punishment. There was one amazing moment in like,
- 12:24Speaker 3: oh god, second or third round when he got hit
- 12:26Speaker 3: with a hook almost like buckled. He caught himself with
- 12:31Speaker 3: his fucking ankles, like he's his ankle muscles stopped him
- 12:35Speaker 3: from touching the ground, touching his gloves, touching the canvas.
- 12:39Speaker 3: And you know, that clip was circulating a lot because
- 12:41Speaker 3: you know, people were saying how did he take that?
- 12:43Speaker 3: How did he not fall down? So we're not saying
- 12:45Speaker 3: the man is weak and you know, and he's a
- 12:47Speaker 3: grampy or anything. You know, he's still tough obviously, but
- 12:52Speaker 3: the output isn't there to take on, you know, a
- 12:55Speaker 3: fighter like that, Younger fighters, faster fighters. So very entertaining fight,
- 12:59Speaker 3: you know, awesome, awesome night of boxing. But yeah, that
- 13:05Speaker 3: it was what it was, and we can't really deny that.
- 13:08Speaker 3: So moving on to somebody who maybe past his prime
- 13:11Speaker 3: or hard to say, has been back and forth and
- 13:14Speaker 3: not as active. Deontay Wilder came back over the weekend
- 13:17Speaker 3: with honestly a kick ass fight and to win against
- 13:20Speaker 3: Derek Shazora. This was very much This was the most
- 13:26Speaker 3: Deontay Deontay has been in terms of not a stylish boxer,
- 13:30Speaker 3: not showing any skill and just trying to demolish Derek Sheazora.
- 13:36Speaker 3: Hardly throwing any combos. He was just trying to land
- 13:38Speaker 3: that right over and over and over. And I'll say this,
- 13:43Speaker 3: it was It was not it was not the sweet science,
- 13:46Speaker 3: it was not skill of boxing, but goddamn was it entertaining.
- 13:49Speaker 3: But you know, Deontay is we've also talked about how
- 13:54Speaker 3: he may be on his way out and maybe he
- 13:55Speaker 3: needs to hang it up as well. What were your
- 13:57Speaker 3: thoughts on that fight, Jamison, after what you saw that
- 14:00Speaker 3: sloppy performance.
- 14:02Speaker 2: Nothing's changed, nothing's changed. I mean, here's the thing. He's
- 14:05Speaker 2: gonna look good versus subpar opponents, versus the lead opponents.
- 14:09Speaker 2: We know what it is. Guys acting box and take
- 14:12Speaker 2: his take his power are gonna always defeat him. So
- 14:15Speaker 2: it's not necessarily it's not necessarily situation where you're you know,
- 14:21Speaker 2: like you're pleased, bought the performance. It just is what
- 14:23Speaker 2: it is. We have a proof of concept now with
- 14:27Speaker 2: Deontay Water. We know what works what doesn't work. I'm
- 14:30Speaker 2: glad he's still able to fight. I'm glad that his
- 14:33Speaker 2: story off the outside the ring did not become a
- 14:35Speaker 2: bigger story. He had a different story that was that
- 14:38Speaker 2: that went viral that we're not gonna discuss on the show.
- 14:41Speaker 2: For those that want more information, they can google it themselves.
- 14:44Speaker 2: So I'm glad he won the fight. He lost it.
- 14:46Speaker 2: The author ing Stow would have been bigger. But with
- 14:48Speaker 2: that being said, uh, he still wants to fight and
- 14:51Speaker 2: it feels like he's gonna fight Joshua or somebody else
- 14:53Speaker 2: soon later. I'm not really for that, but who want
- 14:57Speaker 2: to say he shouldn't fight, But it feels like he's
- 14:59Speaker 2: gonna fight, so we got to wait to see what happens.
- 15:02Speaker 2: I'm not again, I'm not a fan of it. I
- 15:04Speaker 2: don't really want to see it. There's not necessarily a
- 15:06Speaker 2: demand for it. But it feels like he has one
- 15:09Speaker 2: more semi big fight left if he still wants to fight.
- 15:13Speaker 3: Do you think did he seem worse? He said, nothing
- 15:16Speaker 3: has changed, but I think he seemed worse in terms
- 15:18Speaker 3: of the boxing skill. Like I remember back Thury three,
- 15:24Speaker 3: you know, he's definitely seemed to be moving more. And
- 15:26Speaker 3: keep in mind I haven't gone back to it since,
- 15:28Speaker 3: you know, I saw it in the movie theater, but
- 15:30Speaker 3: he seemed to have been a little bit more disciplined
- 15:33Speaker 3: skill than actually trying to lend what do you call
- 15:36Speaker 3: surgical punches. Obviously it turned out how it did, but please, the.
- 15:41Speaker 2: Skill set's always been an issue. The skill set and
- 15:45Speaker 2: the developing and the progress has always been an issued.
- 15:49Speaker 2: He's o raw as an athlete that the power was
- 15:51Speaker 2: so dominant that he got by for so long. I
- 15:56Speaker 2: like you said, it felt like a guy that wasn't
- 15:57Speaker 2: in the greatest of shape. He was looking for the ko,
- 16:00Speaker 2: looking for the power shots only, and again that works
- 16:04Speaker 2: versus that kind of get tender, that kind of fighter.
- 16:07Speaker 2: When you go up in talent, it doesn't work that way.
- 16:10Speaker 2: So yeah, it's cool when you fighting guys that no
- 16:12Speaker 2: one really knows what cares about. But when you get
- 16:15Speaker 2: the bigger fights, if he somehow fights a Usek or
- 16:18Speaker 2: if he fights Fury again, or if he fights Joshua,
- 16:20Speaker 2: that it ain't gonna work. That it's not gonna work.
- 16:23Speaker 2: And I get it, Like he's about I think he's forty,
- 16:26Speaker 2: so he's at the end of the road anyway. But
- 16:29Speaker 2: this don't work. We've seen enough of it. I'm glad
- 16:31Speaker 2: he won. But for the most part, man, we don't
- 16:35Speaker 2: take Deontay Water seriously anymore as a boxer. We really
- 16:38Speaker 2: don't like he had his opportunity and unfortunately he kind
- 16:42Speaker 2: of let us down at the end of the day. Now,
- 16:44Speaker 2: you can make argument that the first Fury fight wasn't
- 16:47Speaker 2: a draw. You can make argument that he won that one,
- 16:49Speaker 2: but man, we saw the other two, so it is
- 16:53Speaker 2: what it is.
- 16:54Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, props to him and Shazar for putting
- 16:57Speaker 3: on a very entertaining fight. I mean they both fell
- 17:00Speaker 3: on top of each other like twice. Gizora went through
- 17:03Speaker 3: the ropes twice. They both got actually knocked down at
- 17:08Speaker 3: least once each and it was just crazy. It was
- 17:11Speaker 3: like straight up brawl. No, even Gizoro, he wasn't really
- 17:15Speaker 3: doing anything you know, skillful or he was, he was
- 17:18Speaker 3: kind of doing the same thing. So also Gizura, let's
- 17:21Speaker 3: keep in mind, my guy here is his record is
- 17:24Speaker 3: thirty six and fourteen losses, Like that's that's a lot.
- 17:28Speaker 3: We talked on the show about how a few losses
- 17:30Speaker 3: will kind of hurt your career. But fourteen.
- 17:34Speaker 2: If you got fourteen losses, you're not fight on weekends? Uh,
- 17:37Speaker 2: you fin on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Friday after word going happy hour?
- 17:43Speaker 2: Asty losses bad, You're not fights is not all It's
- 17:48Speaker 2: not all weekends, bro. I'm sorry, I'm sorry you fight face.
- 17:54Speaker 3: Well and I think maybe honestly, this this this speaks
- 17:58Speaker 3: to more about the state of the heavy weight division,
- 18:00Speaker 3: is that he's a name because there's so few stars
- 18:03Speaker 3: out there, and you know, British Bosting has a lot
- 18:05Speaker 3: of heavyweights. I think that's more a condemnation of our
- 18:08Speaker 3: heavyweights today, right right.
- 18:10Speaker 2: Right, that's correct, yeah, correct.
- 18:14Speaker 3: So I don't know. I mean, I I've never seen
- 18:16Speaker 3: Chazora as like an elite fighter, you know, top to
- 18:19Speaker 3: top of there. But you keep seeing his name come
- 18:21Speaker 3: up over and over, and then he fights the same
- 18:23Speaker 3: guys you know he fought, He fought Fury too, and
- 18:26Speaker 3: he thought ousik. I'm pretty sure, so he still gets
- 18:30Speaker 3: to fight the big names. But I don't know, I mean,
- 18:33Speaker 3: I I guess, I guess. The thing I want to
- 18:36Speaker 3: say that I really want to say about this is
- 18:38Speaker 3: that it was very exciting because it was these two guys.
- 18:43Speaker 3: If it was these two guys against any other guys,
- 18:46Speaker 3: we wouldn't have had as much of an entertaining fight
- 18:49Speaker 3: in a spectacle. But I don't know. I mean, I'll
- 18:53Speaker 3: watch the ante again. I can't. I can't help it. Again.
- 18:56Speaker 3: I've said this before. It could be a nostalgia for
- 18:58Speaker 3: the you know, the the lack of the black American
- 19:02Speaker 3: heavyweight star that we have not had in a long time.
- 19:07Speaker 3: And uh, you know, I hope that there's more coming
- 19:09Speaker 3: in the future if Deonte is on his way out.
- 19:11Speaker 3: But U it's it's it's hard to stay away. It's
- 19:14Speaker 3: like it's like a fast and furious movie. They're up
- 19:16Speaker 3: to ten. You know, I'm gonna be in the theater
- 19:18Speaker 3: for eleven. There's no goddamn way I'm not. You know,
- 19:20Speaker 3: those movies are not good, They're terrible. But damn if
- 19:23Speaker 3: I'm if I'm not gonna be in the theater for
- 19:25Speaker 3: eleven and ask them to make like six more please.
- 19:27Speaker 2: I'm not rolling with that, but coming from.
- 19:32Speaker 3: Sometimes you just want to have a few, have a
- 19:34Speaker 3: bunch of drinks, and you'll watch something stupid in a
- 19:36Speaker 3: movie theater or on TV during a boxing match.
- 19:41Speaker 2: All right, I'll give you that one.
- 19:43Speaker 3: All right, give me that, Give me that some Sometimes
- 19:46Speaker 3: I drink. Sometimes I drink and I do dumb shit
- 19:48Speaker 3: that's entertaining.
- 19:49Speaker 2: So I'll walk it too.
- 19:51Speaker 3: Walk it two right. Thoughts of the future. On the future, here,
- 19:57Speaker 3: we've got dmit you Vival coming back to fight a
- 20:00Speaker 3: mandatory challenger German guy named Michael uh effort or effer
- 20:05Speaker 3: I'm not sure how to pronounce it. Sorry, he's thirteen
- 20:07Speaker 3: and one, so you know, young guy, uh mandatory fight.
- 20:10Speaker 3: Uh So this is gonna be in May thirtieth. Uh
- 20:14Speaker 3: Beville recovering from back surgery. You know, of course, already
- 20:19Speaker 3: people on Instagram are starting, you know, whining, saying, oh,
- 20:22Speaker 3: he's fighting with nobody, he's fighting an uber driver. Their
- 20:25Speaker 3: favorite little catchphrases to say, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 20:28Speaker 1: Uh.
- 20:28Speaker 3: First of all, it's a mandatory. Second of all, everybody
- 20:32Speaker 3: you know deserves a tuna fight. And to give Bevill credit,
- 20:38Speaker 3: they made Benavita is a mandatory. He ducked Benavitas, but
- 20:41Speaker 3: he gave up the belt. He walked away. They gave
- 20:43Speaker 3: him a choice this or that, and you know he
- 20:46Speaker 3: gave him the belt to Benavida. So okay, you know,
- 20:49Speaker 3: well that's he made his choice. Cool, you know he
- 20:51Speaker 3: can he can rock with it. But so I considered
- 20:53Speaker 3: it a tuna fight. But does this mean that there
- 20:56Speaker 3: it's a potential fight with Benavidez coming later this year.
- 20:59Speaker 3: Because keep in mind, and have we heard shit from
- 21:02Speaker 3: Archer better b of like he was supposed to fight recently.
- 21:07Speaker 3: I forget which card he was going to be on,
- 21:09Speaker 3: but he backed out for he gave no reason, just
- 21:12Speaker 3: fight was canceled whatever. You know, of course, talks of
- 21:16Speaker 3: a trilogy, But is my man on a milk carton
- 21:19Speaker 3: somewhere and out there in Eastern Europe, like what the
- 21:21Speaker 3: hell happened? Which is okay? You know, if better beev
- 21:25Speaker 3: wants to walk away, amazing fighter, amazing career, no sche no,
- 21:29Speaker 3: no disrespect to the man, but this but Beovile and
- 21:33Speaker 3: Betavide is of the fight to make right? Is that
- 21:34Speaker 3: what we're going to see? Do you think it'll happen?
- 21:38Speaker 2: I think later, after, after May, I think we get
- 21:42Speaker 2: another batch of fights toward the end of the year,
- 21:45Speaker 2: towards late third quarter, early fourth quarter, that fights will
- 21:49Speaker 2: be made. I think if your past may first, and
- 21:51Speaker 2: then I think we'll see the other fights on the
- 21:53Speaker 2: back half of the years are getting made.
- 21:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I think I did. I was on record saying
- 21:58Speaker 3: that I wanted to see a Better Be of People trilogy.
- 22:01Speaker 3: I'll still take it, of course, But really betterb is
- 22:04Speaker 3: not getting any younger, and he's, like I said, he's
- 22:07Speaker 3: his career, his legacy is secure. The man's you know,
- 22:11Speaker 3: career is this solid. And he even though he lost
- 22:15Speaker 3: to Beevo, that does not in any way diminish skill
- 22:19Speaker 3: what he's achieved in the ring. You know, just a
- 22:21Speaker 3: just an amazing fighter. Uh and I think that it's
- 22:25Speaker 3: probably best to kind of move on to the next,
- 22:27Speaker 3: the next big star. You know, Bevo is a star.
- 22:30Speaker 3: I think he's still going to come back, come back
- 22:33Speaker 3: a start. Him being away for an injury isn't going
- 22:35Speaker 3: to affect that at all. But Benavitez has been has
- 22:37Speaker 3: been calling him out for a long time, and it's
- 22:39Speaker 3: time for Benavitez to show that he can actually take
- 22:43Speaker 3: on the competition, elite competition. So as it stands, that
- 22:49Speaker 3: is the fight that I want to see, probably more
- 22:51Speaker 3: than anything this year, is Bevo versus Benavitez, and I
- 22:54Speaker 3: think it's going to be that would be the the
- 22:58Speaker 3: biggest mega fight, the bigg closest thing to a mega
- 23:01Speaker 3: fight that I can imagine for this year. I don't
- 23:03Speaker 3: know about you. There's anything else you think could come close.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Let's wait and see. Let's wait and see, because things
- 23:12Speaker 2: have a way of happening out of nowhere, So let's
- 23:16Speaker 2: wait and see. As of right now, you're probably correct,
- 23:19Speaker 2: but let's let's just wait and see. You just never know.
- 23:23Speaker 2: You never know. Boxings were like that. Sometimes they throw
- 23:26Speaker 2: us one that release expected.
- 23:29Speaker 3: I just see Benevetez, you know, going around calling out
- 23:33Speaker 3: the name, saying he's ready, he wants the challenge, and
- 23:36Speaker 3: getting ducked and just not getting the opportunity. He's fighting
- 23:39Speaker 3: Zudula Ramirez at cruiserweight, and you know, he's trying to
- 23:43Speaker 3: show that he belongs in that upper weight class because
- 23:46Speaker 3: he went from light heavyweight to cruiserweight. People are saying that,
- 23:49Speaker 3: you know, he that he ducked better b IF. But
- 23:52Speaker 3: they said they were talking to each other and said, hey,
- 23:54Speaker 3: we'll fight each other. I'd like to fight you, they said,
- 23:56Speaker 3: to the back and forth and said I would like
- 23:58Speaker 3: to take that fight. I just say, I said, don't
- 24:00Speaker 3: know what the status of better our Tour, Better BEV
- 24:04Speaker 3: is right now. And God, I wish I could remember
- 24:07Speaker 3: which fight it was. It was a recent one. It
- 24:09Speaker 3: was a big one that he was supposed to fight
- 24:11Speaker 3: in and he just it was canceled with no reason
- 24:17Speaker 3: given and no indication of like, well we're scheduled. Maybe
- 24:19Speaker 3: we'll look at the future, you know that kind of thing.
- 24:22Speaker 3: He just has been off the radar. So I think
- 24:25Speaker 3: we should move on from the trilogy. And yeah, I
- 24:29Speaker 3: think it's it's been a beat this his.
- 24:31Speaker 2: Time, So I agree, and he wants to be I
- 24:34Speaker 2: think with him. The thingue you got to think about
- 24:36Speaker 2: is he's not trying to du fight to only fight
- 24:39Speaker 2: once a year. He's trying to fight multiple times a
- 24:42Speaker 2: year and trying to make things of the show. So
- 24:44Speaker 2: you got to give respect to.
- 24:45Speaker 3: That, agreed. And he's in a great position right now
- 24:47Speaker 3: because he's he's got a lot of fame. He's not
- 24:49Speaker 3: you know, top tier yet, not because of his skill
- 24:52Speaker 3: or lack of it or anything like that. He just
- 24:54Speaker 3: he hasn't popped in the way that that he deserves to.
- 24:58Speaker 3: Maybe the Seclein Demo fight will help, But he's got
- 25:00Speaker 3: the skills, he's got the performances or you know, exciting,
- 25:04Speaker 3: he gets the knockouts, he get the stoppages, and yeah,
- 25:08Speaker 3: he's not just he's not chilling for like two years
- 25:11Speaker 3: kind of waiting for somebody like he's out there. So yeah,
- 25:15Speaker 3: I want to see. I want to see. I want
- 25:17Speaker 3: to see that fight. Dammit. That's my Canello Crawford for
- 25:20Speaker 3: this year. For twenty twenty six. Somebody else has been
- 25:23Speaker 3: out of the ring for a while. Errol Spence apparently
- 25:26Speaker 3: he's coming back, planning to come back to fight Tim Zuo,
- 25:29Speaker 3: who just beat Dennis Dennis Nudia over the weekend another guy.
- 25:34Speaker 3: Spence has not been in the ring since the fight
- 25:36Speaker 3: with Bud Crawford in twenty twenty three, So what do
- 25:39Speaker 3: we think? Will this be another key Thurman situation? Do
- 25:41Speaker 3: we want to see him back?
- 25:43Speaker 2: Hey? Man? The last time I saw Earl Spence and ring,
- 25:46Speaker 2: I texted person I know very well that he is
- 25:48Speaker 2: a doctor, and I was like, hey, why does it
- 25:52Speaker 2: look like he's reacting two and a half seconds late
- 25:55Speaker 2: on all the left hooks? And he was like, he
- 25:57Speaker 2: should not be fighting. It's reason why the states you
- 26:00Speaker 2: can get fights in certain states you can't because certain
- 26:03Speaker 2: states probably would not have passed the physical for him.
- 26:06Speaker 2: There is no way he should be fighting. Man, If
- 26:08Speaker 2: he couldn't see leve hooks three years ago, he ain't
- 26:11Speaker 2: gonna gonna see him today and six months and in
- 26:14Speaker 2: five months. So to be honest with you, I wish
- 26:17Speaker 2: Earl would retire. I know he made a lot of
- 26:18Speaker 2: money that last fight. I've heard he's pretty good at money,
- 26:22Speaker 2: SOID I don't think he blew it. I hope he
- 26:24Speaker 2: just chills. Man, We don't. He has nothing else to prove.
- 26:27Speaker 2: He has nothing else We know what he went through
- 26:29Speaker 2: with the accidents outside of the ring. We know what
- 26:32Speaker 2: happened in the last fight. I just don't think it's
- 26:34Speaker 2: a good idea. I don't I'm I'm not a fan.
- 26:37Speaker 2: And also three years is a long time to go
- 26:40Speaker 2: without fighting. That's a long time, man, Like, we don't
- 26:44Speaker 2: have a lot of success rates for guys coming back
- 26:46Speaker 2: after that kind of hiatus.
- 26:49Speaker 3: That's true. I mean people say just generally speaking that
- 26:52Speaker 3: you know, when they get old and retire, it's always retirement,
- 26:55Speaker 3: that kind of not doing anything, not doing enough to
- 26:58Speaker 3: kind of least people to go downhill term health wise.
- 27:01Speaker 3: I think in a way it can be translated to
- 27:03Speaker 3: boxing is that you can't stay at the top level
- 27:06Speaker 3: if you're not actually in the ring that often, you know.
- 27:08Speaker 3: I of course I'm repeating myself because I just said,
- 27:11Speaker 3: you know, if you're in the gym every single day
- 27:13Speaker 3: and sparring, it's not going to be the same. I
- 27:16Speaker 3: don't know. I feel like with everything, you know, getting
- 27:20Speaker 3: into a stadium with thousands of people screaming, the noise,
- 27:23Speaker 3: all that, like, that's something that I think you can
- 27:25Speaker 3: just get not used to, and then you know, you
- 27:30Speaker 3: got to be on point on everything on fight night.
- 27:33Speaker 3: You know one hundred percent of your mental, physical, you
- 27:37Speaker 3: know your surroundings, all that be comfortable with that, and
- 27:40Speaker 3: I yeah, I just don't think. I think if you're
- 27:42Speaker 3: going to chill for three years and not fight, you
- 27:43Speaker 3: should probably just retire, especially if you've had a long,
- 27:47Speaker 3: long career. Then it's not because of injury, I will say, though,
- 27:51Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know what did your doctor friends say,
- 27:53Speaker 3: because there's one thing, is you know, reacting slowly because
- 27:56Speaker 3: the guy you're fighting is elite and he's so much faster,
- 27:59Speaker 3: or was there a reason could potentially be a bit concert.
- 28:02Speaker 2: When I believe the first knockdown was in a round
- 28:05Speaker 2: two of that fight. It's not mistaken. I think the
- 28:07Speaker 2: first one was round two. After that knockdown, he said,
- 28:11Speaker 2: this fight's over and for the safety of Earl, this
- 28:14Speaker 2: fight he's be stopped because he's simply reacting too late.
- 28:19Speaker 2: All you've sparred before, right, We all box, play, fought whatever.
- 28:24Speaker 2: We all have natural reactions that are somewhat normal in general.
- 28:29Speaker 2: It's not a tape glay, it's not a lag, it's
- 28:32Speaker 2: not a firestick load. It's relatively a situation where your
- 28:36Speaker 2: reflexes are somewhat compatible to whoever's trying to hit you.
- 28:40Speaker 2: It felt like Tans Crawford was on regular TV and
- 28:45Speaker 2: Earl Spence was on a firestick. That's how bad the
- 28:49Speaker 2: timing was. And for those who know who have firesticks
- 28:52Speaker 2: trying to have fight parties, please don't do that shit
- 28:55Speaker 2: no more. We are all thrown adults pitching what happened.
- 28:58Speaker 2: But with that being said, there was there was a lag.
- 29:01Speaker 2: It felt like there was a lag when he was
- 29:04Speaker 2: trying to fend certain punches, especially the left hook. Looking
- 29:07Speaker 2: back at that fight, and he just couldn't either he
- 29:10Speaker 2: either couldn't see it or he didn't couldn't see it
- 29:12Speaker 2: until it was too late, and that was a big
- 29:15Speaker 2: part of the problem that night. And I don't think
- 29:18Speaker 2: that can be fixed. If you have vision issues that
- 29:21Speaker 2: doesn't get fixed, that is what that is. And if
- 29:23Speaker 2: that's the case, then we hadn't need to have a
- 29:25Speaker 2: whole different conversation because we don't need is another boxer
- 29:28Speaker 2: being impaired currently, We don't need that well.
- 29:31Speaker 3: And that's a really interesting point because I did see
- 29:33Speaker 3: the Crawford Spence fight when it happened live, and you know,
- 29:37Speaker 3: all My takeaway was what a lot of people's takeaway was,
- 29:40Speaker 3: Holy shit, Bud Crawford is the best. You know, he's amazing.
- 29:43Speaker 3: What an incredible performance. But now that you mentioned that,
- 29:45Speaker 3: I really should go back and watch it again with
- 29:47Speaker 3: what you said in mind, because it didn't even occur
- 29:50Speaker 3: to me at the time. All it occurred to me
- 29:52Speaker 3: was that Aero Spence just couldn't keep up with Budd,
- 29:54Speaker 3: who is the shit, you know, which is a valid
- 29:57Speaker 3: thing to think if you're if you've seen Bud fight
- 30:00Speaker 3: a few times, you know what I mean. But no,
- 30:02Speaker 3: I really am definitely going to check that out again,
- 30:05Speaker 3: and that would recommend everybody watching this look up the
- 30:08Speaker 3: Bud Crawford versus Aero Spence fight from twenty twenty three
- 30:13Speaker 3: if you haven't seen it at the not even to
- 30:15Speaker 3: kind of dissect it in terms of just to see
- 30:17Speaker 3: but in the ring just looking amazing his best performance
- 30:19Speaker 3: at the time. Definitely worth watching on YouTube. But yeah,
- 30:23Speaker 3: I think we should also kind of see if there
- 30:26Speaker 3: was something to it that you noticed, because I'll tell
- 30:30Speaker 3: you straight up, it never occurred me that there was
- 30:33Speaker 3: a medical issue.
- 30:34Speaker 2: But he could say either his reflections are very slow
- 30:39Speaker 2: or he just couldn't see the punches. Why he couldn't
- 30:42Speaker 2: see them because when he was reacting, it was like
- 30:44Speaker 2: bay he couldn't see him way too late. And either
- 30:47Speaker 2: way it's bad, like either way he was screwed either way.
- 30:50Speaker 2: But it was one of those things where you felt
- 30:53Speaker 2: sorry for after a while because after round two he
- 30:55Speaker 2: had no chance winning that fight. Not like he had
- 30:59Speaker 2: zero chance way in that fight.
- 31:00Speaker 3: Yeah, and let's not forget the Spence turned pro back
- 31:02Speaker 3: in twenty twelve, so that is a long time. And
- 31:07Speaker 3: you know, and again you made a very good point.
- 31:09Speaker 3: I think this is a thing that you know, we're
- 31:12Speaker 3: seeing now with a lot of fighters either coming back,
- 31:14Speaker 3: well we've always seen it, but fighters coming back or
- 31:17Speaker 3: sticking around longer than they should have could be pride.
- 31:20Speaker 3: But there are some people out there who like Keith Thurmant,
- 31:24Speaker 3: like Aero Spence, like even Deonte not having the greatest record,
- 31:28Speaker 3: you know, he's he was a star and he was
- 31:30Speaker 3: a star that we needed for the time. You guys
- 31:32Speaker 3: don't have anything to prove. You know, your your big
- 31:35Speaker 3: names put on great performances.
- 31:37Speaker 2: But I don't know, they need money. People need money.
- 31:41Speaker 2: These people have kids and girlfriends, and wives and ex
- 31:45Speaker 2: wives and mistress and only fans shicks. They need money.
- 31:48Speaker 2: The reason why they're still fighting they need money. The
- 31:51Speaker 2: reason why if Floyd Mayweather is scheduled to fight multiple
- 31:54Speaker 2: times within the next six months, he needs money. Why
- 31:57Speaker 2: he needs money. That's a whole different show for a
- 32:00Speaker 2: whole different day. And I really don't want to get
- 32:02Speaker 2: into that because I don't like count other men's pockets.
- 32:04Speaker 2: But the reason why people are fighting at the end
- 32:06Speaker 2: of their career, and at the end of their career,
- 32:09Speaker 2: if the taxes or they will a lot of money
- 32:11Speaker 2: to somebody, and that is neither thing is good. But
- 32:14Speaker 2: that's why you see all these guys still fighting because
- 32:17Speaker 2: they have no other way to make money. There's no
- 32:19Speaker 2: other trade that they have. They can't go do plumbing
- 32:22Speaker 2: and do electrical work. That ain't the case. They are
- 32:25Speaker 2: boxers and the only way they know how to make
- 32:26Speaker 2: money is by boxing. Deontay Water is gonna fight until
- 32:29Speaker 2: he can't fight no more playing and simple Wight. He
- 32:33Speaker 2: might fight four more times if there's a check for him,
- 32:36Speaker 2: He's gonna fight. He's gonna fight. And that's just how
- 32:38Speaker 2: it is, especially with the economy the way it is
- 32:40Speaker 2: right now. People got a lot of kids, a lot
- 32:42Speaker 2: of responsibilities. He's gonna keep fighting. Him winning last Weekend
- 32:47Speaker 2: gives him probably a couple more fights if he wants it.
- 32:50Speaker 2: That's the crazy part.
- 32:51Speaker 3: That's fair. And like I said, the consensus on the
- 32:54Speaker 3: Wilder fight was that it was very ridiculous but very entertaining,
- 32:57Speaker 3: and people who maybe weren't didn't follow and just tuned in.
- 33:02Speaker 3: Maybe they might say, hey, we're gonna we want to
- 33:04Speaker 3: see this guy back again because he puts on a
- 33:06Speaker 3: show in the ring, for sure, I don't know. But
- 33:09Speaker 3: also the man did get caught so many times with
- 33:12Speaker 3: a lot of really really clean punches by Derek Tazora.
- 33:15Speaker 3: Don't know what that what that means in terms of power,
- 33:18Speaker 3: because Deonta could definitely take take a hit, but that
- 33:21Speaker 3: ship adds up, and you know, for for anybody that
- 33:24Speaker 3: ship you can't you can only take so many punches
- 33:26Speaker 3: to the head for your you know, throughout your life
- 33:29Speaker 3: before something something bad happens. But no, it makes sense.
- 33:33Speaker 3: I mean, actually shout out to shout out to Canelo today.
- 33:39Speaker 3: I just saw a news article that he officially is
- 33:41Speaker 3: enrolling in college.
- 33:42Speaker 2: Did you hear?
- 33:42Speaker 3: Did you see that or hear about that.
- 33:45Speaker 2: I did not ask you to hear though.
- 33:47Speaker 3: Yeah, he enrolled in the University of San Diego, and
- 33:51Speaker 3: he left school when he was a kid to pursue boxing.
- 33:54Speaker 3: I don't know exactly when, but he must have been,
- 33:56Speaker 3: you know, a teenager, because he went pro very young.
- 33:59Speaker 3: And and he just put up a little this cute
- 34:01Speaker 3: little plague that said a first day of school by teachers,
- 34:04Speaker 3: you know, such and such. You know, I want to
- 34:06Speaker 3: be a businessman. It's like the kids used, you know,
- 34:08Speaker 3: for elementary but uh, I thought that was really cool.
- 34:13Speaker 3: I'm like, okay, well you all clearly we've all said
- 34:15Speaker 3: the Canelos. You know, he's got a couple of fights
- 34:16Speaker 3: left on contract. Who knows what's gonna what's gonna happen,
- 34:20Speaker 3: but he's probably playing an exit plan. The man isn't
- 34:23Speaker 3: hurting for money. But you know, yeah, maybe we're going
- 34:26Speaker 3: to see more. He's already has a lot of brand deals.
- 34:29Speaker 3: Maybe that's what he's gonna be doing. You know, Canilo
- 34:30Speaker 3: brand's clothing, he's got his his uh alcoholic drinks VMC drinks.
- 34:37Speaker 3: Our producer just just told us that canel left school
- 34:40Speaker 3: when he was fifteen. Years old, which is wild. He
- 34:44Speaker 3: made a right decision, sure, absolutely, but yeah, I was
- 34:47Speaker 3: actually really it was really cool to see that, to
- 34:49Speaker 3: see that, you know, he's uh, he's not gonna ideally
- 34:53Speaker 3: if he retires soon, which he probably will, he's not
- 34:56Speaker 3: just gonna end up, you know, crashing out or just
- 34:58Speaker 3: or disappearing and kind of if you never hear from
- 35:00Speaker 3: him again, maybe he'll be involved in if not, the
- 35:03Speaker 3: fight world, maybe you know, brands and this and that.
- 35:05Speaker 3: Especially he's good his with his legacy too. He's got
- 35:08Speaker 3: to be a star definitely in Mexico for a long
- 35:10Speaker 3: long time. People Mexicans still love Hulus Stavez, you know,
- 35:12Speaker 3: thirty years later. So he was at the at the
- 35:19Speaker 3: Ama Lavarete versus Sugar Nuns fight that I went to.
- 35:23Speaker 3: He was ringside, which is awesome. Who as Chavis was
- 35:27Speaker 3: so so yeah, I don't know, I mean, I think
- 35:29Speaker 3: that's a problem. I think I guess this is with
- 35:31Speaker 3: any type of celebrity, any type of like not just sports.
- 35:36Speaker 3: But there's got to be finding financial education, damn it
- 35:39Speaker 3: for these folks, not just like teaching people to how
- 35:42Speaker 3: to hit a bag, but also like how to manage
- 35:44Speaker 3: their damn money. And invest, but.
- 35:45Speaker 2: Also something to do. Right, You can't box forever, So
- 35:48Speaker 2: what happens when you stop boxing? What are you gonna do?
- 35:51Speaker 2: Like just your day to day, what are you gonna do?
- 35:53Speaker 2: You gotta have a plan, Like you mentioned Sean Porter
- 35:56Speaker 2: earlier in the show, like he's always been active with media.
- 36:00Speaker 2: It's like he always had a plan. He looked at
- 36:02Speaker 2: andre Ward very heavily ended up promoting, doing commentary, media work,
- 36:07Speaker 2: et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. So all that's really good.
- 36:10Speaker 2: All that is really good, but we need more of that.
- 36:12Speaker 2: But also you got to plan that out. You can't
- 36:15Speaker 2: just retire and be like, oh, I'm going to school.
- 36:17Speaker 2: No no, no, no not. You've got to have self in
- 36:19Speaker 2: motion before your last round, because we all know your
- 36:22Speaker 2: last round can come when you least expect it.
- 36:25Speaker 3: So so yeah, well it's interesting that you say that
- 36:29Speaker 3: because that actually came up in my interview with Sean Porter,
- 36:31Speaker 3: which is available now on all our audio platforms and
- 36:34Speaker 3: on YouTube. I asked him how a retirement was treating
- 36:36Speaker 3: him and whether he ever missed the boxing life. He
- 36:40Speaker 3: said he didn't miss it and that he loved being retired,
- 36:42Speaker 3: and then he put stuff in place beforehand. He said
- 36:45Speaker 3: that he had an idea of what he wanted to
- 36:47Speaker 3: do and he had it set up for when he
- 36:49Speaker 3: walked away, he moved into you know, the commentary, all
- 36:52Speaker 3: that stuff, the media things. So, you know, good for him,
- 36:55Speaker 3: you know, it definitely seems to be a great example
- 36:57Speaker 3: of just that's that's a glay Sean Porter. But he
- 37:01Speaker 3: did give us an interview. But he seems to be
- 37:03Speaker 3: a great example not just in terms of post retirement,
- 37:07Speaker 3: but also just how he moves in the sport. Again,
- 37:09Speaker 3: really nice guy, just seems very very enthusiastic about you know,
- 37:13Speaker 3: talking with people and promoting things. A lot of people
- 37:17Speaker 3: can learn a lot from John Porter, and so, you know,
- 37:20Speaker 3: shout out to him for giving us on that interview.
- 37:22Speaker 3: I'm still very very stuck about it. I'm still over
- 37:24Speaker 3: the moon about it a week later, if you can't tell.
- 37:30Speaker 3: So when we finish up here, Before we finish up here,
- 37:33Speaker 3: we actually have an announcement about the show. So this
- 37:37Speaker 3: is something that I was considering doing and trying to
- 37:39Speaker 3: figure out, you know the logistics of it. But we've
- 37:42Speaker 3: been doing this every every other week. Sometimes, you know,
- 37:45Speaker 3: there's not a lot of boxing news. There's not enough
- 37:47Speaker 3: boxing news to do every single week. But I definitely
- 37:51Speaker 3: wanted to figure out a way to get weekly episodes.
- 37:54Speaker 3: And after last week's interview and the next week's interview
- 37:58Speaker 3: that we have as well coming up with the fighters
- 37:59Speaker 3: at the and Phoenix, we're gonna do it. We're gonna
- 38:02Speaker 3: give this a shot. Keep in mind, our show still
- 38:04Speaker 3: kind of learning, growing and frigging out the details. But
- 38:07Speaker 3: at least let's call it for like, let's call it
- 38:09Speaker 3: the summer series. The Mixed Company Podcast will be dropping
- 38:14Speaker 3: weekly episodes every Thursday. Some of them will be mini sos,
- 38:18Speaker 3: you know, to be clear, you know, we'll do you know,
- 38:21Speaker 3: if it's an interview, it'll be like fifteen twenty minutes.
- 38:24Speaker 3: Maybe we'll do like thirty with a guest or maybe
- 38:26Speaker 3: a specific topic. We'll pick certain topics to discuss. But
- 38:29Speaker 3: we want to give this a shot, and you know,
- 38:32Speaker 3: we can commit definitely for all of April and then
- 38:36Speaker 3: we just kind of see how it goes, because we
- 38:38Speaker 3: we're going to get great place. We love doing the show,
- 38:41Speaker 3: and honestly, we have a wave with all of the
- 38:45Speaker 3: attention we're getting from the show and porterview on social media, followers, commentaries,
- 38:48Speaker 3: et cetera. We want to be consistent, you know, every
- 38:52Speaker 3: every week. All of my favorite podcasts are once a week,
- 38:56Speaker 3: so I kind of didn't want to be left in
- 38:58Speaker 3: the left in the dust with that. So yeah, exclusive
- 39:02Speaker 3: official announcement. Starting next week April sixteenth, we will be
- 39:09Speaker 3: doing weekly episodes of this show. And very excited we
- 39:13Speaker 3: got coming down the pike. So we'll be And the
- 39:15Speaker 3: cool thing too is we'll be able to get into
- 39:16Speaker 3: more detailed discussions about specific fighters, about specific fights coming up,
- 39:21Speaker 3: maybe someone we will talk about it, you know, a
- 39:24Speaker 3: historic fight and why it's important this and kind of that.
- 39:26Speaker 3: So we're definitely going to have the friends of the
- 39:29Speaker 3: show come on by and join in the discussions with us.
- 39:33Speaker 3: So yeah, very very excited for what's coming down the pike.
- 39:36Speaker 3: And just can't thank everybody enough for your support for
- 39:39Speaker 3: the Mixed Company podcast so far. Oh and sorry, just
- 39:42Speaker 3: to make sure I don't forget, shout out to Emily Gurdon,
- 39:45Speaker 3: friend of the show, former guests. She was the person
- 39:47Speaker 3: that invited the show over to the press conference to
- 39:49Speaker 3: meet Sean Porter. So yeah, you know, we've gotten a
- 39:52Speaker 3: lot of we're building a lot of great relationships with
- 39:55Speaker 3: people in the boxing scene, and I just can't thank
- 39:59Speaker 3: everyon buddy enough and of course Jamison, thanks to you.
- 40:03Speaker 3: Jabari our producer, thanks to you for you know, putting
- 40:06Speaker 3: all this together and making this happen. It's just it's
- 40:08Speaker 3: just been a wild, wild ride and I can't wait
- 40:10Speaker 3: to see what else happens going forward.
- 40:13Speaker 2: It's been a fun ride. It's been cool. Man. I
- 40:15Speaker 2: think it's a great idea. It's a great breath of
- 40:17Speaker 2: fresh air. So it'll be fun to see what new
- 40:20Speaker 2: wrinkles occur and we'll take it from there.
- 40:23Speaker 3: Honestly, I everything this happens so far with meeting you know,
- 40:26Speaker 3: fighters and getting involved to medium, but I never expected
- 40:29Speaker 3: any of that. I just thought we'd be doing this
- 40:30Speaker 3: for fun and see what comes of it. So anything
- 40:33Speaker 3: going on right now is like extra, like extra benefits
- 40:38Speaker 3: to like all the cool shit that I get to do.
- 40:40Speaker 3: I've gotten to people to talk to and we're just
- 40:43Speaker 3: keep it running. So we'll wrap this up for now.
- 40:45Speaker 3: And Jamison, what where can people find you on social media?
- 40:49Speaker 2: At Twitter at the Jamison That's best spot. I've got
