- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: Hey friend, welcome back to Bible Tract Echoes.
- 0:02[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so much for joining me once again today.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_01]: We are in the middle of the thought that can be summed up this way.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_01]: In the beginning, God.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_01]: At its foundation, this message is about our foundation.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_01]: There are many that have built their homes, built their families, their careers, their churches, their very lives on a shaky, sandy, shifting foundation.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_01]: We must build our lives upon the rock and all through Scripture.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_01]: The Bible bears out that in the beginning God was the foundation, is the foundation of everything not just our faith and practice,
- 0:43[SPEAKER_01]: but everything we do, we would act different.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_01]: We would speak different.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_01]: We would think differently if we realized in the beginning, God.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_01]: Now what you're going to hear next is my voice as I continue preaching a message that I gave at our home church.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_01]: My family and I are members of the first Baptist Church in Dwight in
- 1:07[SPEAKER_01]: Illinois, about an hour, hour and a half south of Chicago right down 55.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_01]: But what you can hear next is the third installment.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_01]: We played a little bit of it on Monday and Tuesday and here on Wednesday as well.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm going to be jumping into a thought that God owns your family.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_01]: That may be a thought that gives you a bit of pause.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_01]: You say, hold on.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_01]: I am the man of the house.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_01]: I am the mother.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_01]: I am the, well, no, God.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_01]: Ultimately, all authority rolls up to him.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_01]: We are just stewards.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_01]: And if he owns your family, that means he owns your children as well.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_01]: Listen now to this message in the beginning, God.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_01]: When the Bible starts
- 1:57[SPEAKER_01]: You're supposed to stew her the relationship.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_01]: You're supposed to care enough to listen to what she has to say, gentlemen.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_01]: And then the Bible turns to the wife, for the preacher turns the wife and says, you're supposed to submit yourself, you're supposed to reverence, you're supposed to show honor, all of a sudden the preacher and or the Bible becomes the bad guy.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_01]: You know, all that's being said is in the beginning God.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_01]: Because if he's not the basis,
- 2:26[SPEAKER_01]: You can build your house on sand, but when the thunder rages and the rains roll in, you're going to get what you paid for in the beginning, God.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_01]: You might say, but the Macquarie, you're really making a lot of hay out of four words in the Bible.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_01]: Friend, he owns the world, he owns this church, he owns your family, he owns your marriage, guess what, he owns your children too.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_01]: You are just stewards of them.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_01]: Think about Hannah with Samuel, who owned Samuel.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_01]: God, dead.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_01]: How about Jacob bed with Moses, Moses's mother?
- 3:05[SPEAKER_01]: Who's going to, who ultimately took care of Moses?
- 3:09[SPEAKER_01]: Jacob ended everything in her power, but when it exceeded her power, who made sure the Egyptian princess was walking by just as the crocodile started getting hungry for lunch?
- 3:19[SPEAKER_01]: God, dead.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_01]: Abraham with Isaac, who owned Isaac?
- 3:25[SPEAKER_01]: There was not a drop of blood on Isaac's neck as the knife was raised high.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_01]: God did.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_01]: It might be that if you are struggling with your children, it could be that you forgot and who actually owns them.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_01]: Now I'm not saying, fill them out of the house and say, it's your problem now, God.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_01]: You're still a steward, remember?
- 3:48[SPEAKER_01]: Still supposed to be good steward's.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_01]: And more over, it's a cried in a man
- 3:57[SPEAKER_01]: You just a steward guy.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_01]: Let's bring this down to where you and I live.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_01]: There was no quibbling or conversation or concern, or there was no clarification needed in the McCurry home about who owned the stuff.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_01]: I'm speaking to human terms.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_01]: I recall on one or two occasions.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_01]: I think it was only one or two occasions.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_01]: My mom is in town this week, so you can ask her about it if it's true or not.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_01]: My dad's coming into Mars, so maybe we can talk to him.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_01]: Confess your faults, confess your sins before all, right?
- 4:30[SPEAKER_01]: Get a little too big for the bridges.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to, whatever.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, there are times where my dad got to a place of, hey, all good.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_01]: Strip down.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_01]: Hit the road, Jack.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_01]: Those clothes aren't yours.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_01]: No napsack, don't take my pillowcase and stuff, closing it.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_01]: It's mine.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_01]: I bought it.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_01]: You don't like the rules here?
- 4:52[SPEAKER_01]: You can hit the road, Jack, the same way you came into this earth,
- 4:57[SPEAKER_01]: You say, that seems harsh.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, if you want to, I'm not putting myself or my brothers, because they're not going to let some times.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_01]: Not putting us on a pedestal while telling you what, I would take the product that they put out over some.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_01]: You don't have to like the recipe.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_01]: But friend, I got the hint pretty quickly that I was not the boss.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_01]: But dad, you might need to get the hint again that you aren't the boss ultimately either.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_01]: The way you want to do things might not line up a scripture.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_01]: wife, you are not the boss.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_01]: Mom, I don't whether or not single mother or not ultimately, it all rolls up to God in the beginning God.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_01]: You can't raise your kids like to devil owns them and expect God to get the glory from them.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_01]: And I do want to be very clear, I'm not on a rabbit trail.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_01]: This is in my notes.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_01]: Let's make one small bit of application.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_01]: Pastor told me, I'm working out the evangelist thing in me so I can preach like two o'clock if I need to.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not gonna do that.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_01]: If I want you to come back tonight.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_01]: But the Lord had me put this in my notes, and I've got the time, so I'm gonna say it.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_01]: Parents, let's talk very, very practically, about cell phones for a second.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_01]: How about that?
- 6:39[SPEAKER_01]: Do you know who owns your eyes?
- 6:43[SPEAKER_01]: Who owns your eyes in the beginning?
- 6:45[SPEAKER_01]: God, who owns your ears in the beginning?
- 6:48[SPEAKER_01]: God.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_01]: So you,
- 6:52[SPEAKER_01]: that know that you can't handle the addictive nature of this device right here, and you doom scroll on it as a parent, as a mature person whose frontal lobe is supposedly fully developed, and you can't put it down, and you're going to stick one of these things in your kids' hands at 13 years old.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_01]: Are you dumb in any other ways?
- 7:15[SPEAKER_01]: Who owns your children?
- 7:18[SPEAKER_01]: And you're going to let the devil babysit them
- 7:22[SPEAKER_01]: We're through a cell phone, hours on end, and things are gonna come out, train a potential in the way he should go, just not make sure they're in one hour of sunny school a week, and think that's gonna be what they're not gonna depart from.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_01]: 167 other hours where you let the devil have his way with them?
- 7:40[SPEAKER_01]: Pumpin' all kinds of junk into the ear gate in the eye gate?
- 7:43[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I'm talking about?
- 7:44[SPEAKER_01]: Cause you deal with it too!
- 7:46[SPEAKER_01]: This is not some out of sight of the mind.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_01]: Now, you may be faced with reels and they're on TikTok.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know which, but you know what I'm talking about.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_01]: A direct gateway to hell.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_01]: Gateway drugs to pornography is what they are.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_01]: Tell me I'm wrong.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_01]: In the beginning, God.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_01]: Friend, when the rubber hits the road,
- 8:15[SPEAKER_01]: He gets warm.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_01]: There's friction.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't feel the best.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_01]: Well, understand, at the end of the day, if you heed the warning, there's hope.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_01]: You say the calf's already out of the gate.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_01]: Friend, do they live in your house or not?
- 8:36[SPEAKER_01]: Now, it may be a lot on Monday morning to say, take off your clothes and hit the road.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_01]: If you've been living them, let them live however they want for last while.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_01]: Might take a little while to turn the corner.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_01]: But instead, it's a corner worth turning.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_01]: In the beginning, God.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_01]: And we've spent a while in that,
- 9:02[SPEAKER_01]: in introduction, making the point, who owns everything?
- 9:05[SPEAKER_01]: We understand God.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_01]: What does he own?
- 9:08[SPEAKER_01]: Everything.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_01]: Why?
- 9:11[SPEAKER_01]: Very quickly.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_01]: Because of creation.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_01]: Relations 411 says, Thou art worthy, O Lord, receive glory and honor and power for Thou hast created all things.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_01]: because of creation.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_01]: He owns it all.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_01]: Why does he own everything?
- 9:28[SPEAKER_01]: Because of Calvary, first Corinthians 620, for year, bought with a price.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_01]: Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit which our gods, an old preacher man said this, if Christ bought the church with his blood, then every member of it belongs to him twice over, once by creation and once by redemption.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_01]: He bought you.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_01]: He made you and he bought you,
- 9:52[SPEAKER_01]: had to redeem you back.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_01]: It should have been enough that he created you, should have sealed his ownership rights, but who are we of our father's death?
- 10:00[SPEAKER_01]: Aren't we?
- 10:01[SPEAKER_01]: And praise God he sent his son to bias back to redeem us.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_01]: Creation, Calvary, quickly conquest.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_01]: Revelation, we won't take the time, the Bible talks about how an out of his mouth go at the sharp sword and that with it he should smite the nations.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_01]: He shall rule them with a rod of iron.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_01]: The Bible talks about he hat on his vestia and wrote Revelation 19 and on his thigh, a name written, King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_01]: Closions 117 says this.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_01]: Not just creation, not just Calvary, not just Conquest.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_01]: Being a wire your his because he cares too.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_01]: Casting all your care upon him for he care for you.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_01]: In property law, there is a concept called adverse possession.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_01]: If someone takes care of land, this is a simplistic version.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_01]: But if someone takes care of a piece of land long enough, maintains it, protects it,
- 11:04[SPEAKER_01]: in different states, the law is different.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_01]: But over a span of 10 or 20 years, legally, that land can become yours.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_01]: If, for instance, if you think about, if you have a spot on land, just a triple land, just a half acre, and you have a little spot on the country, and you know that land.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_01]: And a few years later, you see that land.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_01]: and you keep mowing that land.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_01]: And then you deal with some coyotes or maybe you deal with cows getting out of something and you put up a fence and include that land.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_01]: And the person who actually owns that land, I'm not saying you should do this, but it's in property law.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_01]: If you did this and you just keep mowing that land, keep maintaining that land.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_01]: And then 20 years from now, there's a property dispute and ownership dispute.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_01]: You know who the judge is gonna say, actually owns the land?
- 11:49[SPEAKER_01]: The one that took care of it.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_01]: How much has the devil actually ever taken care of you?
- 11:56[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no, no.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_01]: He's led you on just long enough to mesh your life up and then abandon you.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_01]: Who's the one that actually hears you when you call?
- 12:05[SPEAKER_01]: Who's the one that actually cares?
- 12:07[SPEAKER_01]: Every moment of every day, who's the one that puts breath in your lungs by right of care?
- 12:13[SPEAKER_01]: God should own you.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_01]: friend is all this shocking to you to find out that God owns you.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_01]: I pray that what I say backed up by Bible will have some effect.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_01]: Tomorrow on a broadcast we're going to talk about what we must do with this fact that God owns us.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_01]: We've established the who.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_01]: We've established what God owns.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_01]: We've established why he owns us tomorrow.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to apply
- 12:45[SPEAKER_01]: My prayer is always, is it you have a great day for his glory?
- 12:49[SPEAKER_01]: We'll talk soon.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_01]: God bless.
