here's the thing my wife had some friends over tonight it a warm day but she decided to 2:29 build a fire you know had that crackling romantic you know thing going on and 2:35 then but now it's just glistening off my forehead oh my gosh it's really glosen off your forehead well it's a shiny a 2:42 shiny beautiful thing so yeah it's very warm in here uh I'm also very nervous about our three losing that audio on the first we 3:00 didn't check or anything we're you know what we're out of we're out of practice we are we are it's like Mike Tyson when 3:06 he fought lenx Lewis Len what was the guy that he lost to that that that tubby guy uh Lennox Lewis Chuck webner I don't 3:15 know I J but you know he was resting on his Laurels we're like Mike Tyson we bit 3:20 off more than we could chew oh that was a good one yes thank you I knew a guy that was at that fight yeah we mentioned 3:26 that in the previous podcast yeah all right did I mention that he was char friend of Joe pesi yeah we mentioned that too in the same podcast all right 3:32 so I'm just done L dropping then that's as far as we go okay welcome to go on the distance podcast this is episode 20 3:39 something we're not too sure what thanks for going the distance if you're a first time listener this is what we look like 3:44 if you're listening and not seeing this live recording this is your first time listener this is what we look like yeah 3:49 okay Ru if you to describe me to our listeners what would you say I look like I would say I don't know a white male thank you 3:58 all right so a sexy white male basically Reuben with hair with hair youth youth 4:05 less gray hairs actually I'm starting to get some oh really you're a lighter kind of blonde oh yeah yeah yeah good for you 4:11 but ribbon you're a handsome man bald is beautiful it is it is so basically okay 4:17 this is Ruben's version of me he's got to wow this will not work for the audio 4:23 oh okay all right okay so you stand by stand by stand by this is me as Reuben 4:28 all I'm Ruben here's Ruben is Ryan all right well welcome 4:35 to welcome to Going the Distance podcast I'm your host Ruben oh yeah there you go 4:41 I'm your host Ruben and I'm I'm your host Ryan go Navy yeah uh Ruben I'm sorry Ryan I just want to say that I 4:47 appreciate your service in the Navy wow do I have a suttry face or something so 4:53 rib that's ribbons impersonating me mhm I'll try to go thinner we try to go 4:59 fatter I don't know what else to say I'm Reuben my memory is 5:05 immaculate Immaculate it's very clean it's very clean what word were you trying to think 5:11 because it's not Immaculate it's very I have a very good memory but just a small 5:17 vocabulary all right I can't I can't focus now well because those aren't prescribed to you all right all right 5:24 this I really am unlike presidential elect be the real us please well just so you know if if you want to ever borrow 5:30 my my tupe that's so gross it it comes with a bear rug that is real hair right 5:36 it is real hair okay that okay seriously that's gross do you know this cost like I think it's like I know, you should 5:43 probably you should probably say for the record uhhuh that that is not though it's your toay it's not your toay you 5:50 don't wear them please tell what so so for work I decided to wear it for 5:56 Halloween for those listening I'm just bald just BCT your bald guy I'm bald but I have this toue of real human hair for 6:04 Halloween I thought okay I'll wear this as like my Halloween costume and people just like walked in and they kind of 6:10 looked at me they didn't know what to think and then I said to a regular customer I said this my Halloween 6:15 costume oh I just thought you got a hairpiece I'm like no then I just took it off because it 6:21 confused people that's so gross I don't that's so gross seriously that's seriously gross that's like literally 6:27 that's what you know the you know okay when I put it on my wife 6:34 she looks like like an 80s uh if fact this is actually for toue wearers this is going 6:40 to be a horrible audio podcast for toue wearers this is actually what they look like when they wear 6:46 toupe do you know what I mean by that like oh that's real yeah my hair grows out my forehead the thing about a t is a 6:54 bad toue yeah there result also S as a good toupe when you know it's toue if that makes sense so yeah if you can see that 7:02 it's a toue it's a bad toupe I've never here's the thing I've never looked at anyone's toupe when I notic as a tupe 7:08 and say hey I can only imagine how ridiculous you look with bald with a bald head that on your head is so much 7:15 better oh look s we got a laugh comment here oh hi it's me Mom hi Mom hi Mom I 7:23 saw that comment already that she was yeah I apologize mom I didn't call I we were in the middle of our stick okay hey 7:29 Rocky's looking for work oh you asked me when was the last time I look for work well I've been in the military for 13 years and so before I joined the 7:35 military I was I was going to school going to college I worked at a pizza place during my first marriage I had two 7:41 kids and we were you know start I was a starving student working at a pizza place going to school so that would have 7:47 been the last job I actually applied for like with a resume so that was how do you starve working at a pizza place you 7:53 think you'd be well fed you know what's funny we loved it when a pizza order got wrong I bet yeah because when the pizza 7:58 order got wrong we woled on that pizza oh man it was good times I have a couple friends on Facebook to this day who I 8:04 met those many years ago really yeah still still friends these days yeah well I mean we excuse me yeah it's it's kind 8:10 of cool yeah anyways I actually liked working there in the sense like I liked working with the people I like here's 8:15 the thing about being a pizza deliver is you're always received with joy yes 8:21 there's a party going on it's a football game hockey game celebrations going on and you've brought them their Pizza it 8:27 smells good if you're on time you're welcome okay I will assure you that the opposite is true if the pizza is wrong 8:34 cold or whatever but that you know that happens buy and large buy and large yes 8:40 buy a large get one free yeah if you get one free you're going to be large buy and large you'll be large yeah it was uh 8:47 actually I actually liked it the job satisfaction was high the pay was low 8:53 you can't I did pizza delivery but sadly I guess I did in my 30s I was close I 8:59 was I actually joined the military late I joined at 27 uhhuh so I was a pizza deliverer from the age of like 24 to 27 9:05 you know it seemed old at the time but now it seems young you always think you're old until you get old yeah and then you that's when you know that back 9:12 then you weren't old but now you are you are old and yeah if you're older than us 9:17 you're probably will be very old so yeah that was the last time I kind of pounded the pavement it's it's a fear that I have in the back of my head it's a you 9:22 know cuz I have a large family of a few kids to feed and mortgage to pay and gas to being an adult can be stressful 9:29 sometimes so the idea of looking for work I'm grateful for the military in the many ways cuz provided me um job 9:35 security and uh yeah they're going to have to kick me out which may happen no 9:41 I'm happy to hear that Ryan I'm happy you're happy mhm thank you being of service thank you I appreciate that 9:47 Rocky I love the suit that Rocky wears for this uh these interviews he's wearing this like big blue like speaking 9:53 of Navy like a really light navy blue see if you can find that on there our live listeners can uh listen this or see 10:00 it sure it's like the Big H the 197 this 1979 this is the peak of fashion right 10:05 so he's got the big collar he's wearing a black shirt underneath and I'm describing this for our audio listeners he's wearing a black shirt underneath 10:11 and he's got the gold chain on his wrist he's got the the uh a spike a spike 10:16 bracelet that's one of those like fashion choices where like the man really likes it but the spouse is like 10:22 don't don't wear that oh yeah this is where Adrian tells him don't leave the house like this yeah yeah yeah yeah 10:27 Jason we're still here we're still going the distance we're uh recording our second episode we're doing a two for one 10:32 this is a two for one live podcast two for like when we did two for one bluies for pizza yeah nice s in the suit uh go 10:38 Rocky too I did Brother uh job interview I have to do everything around here no I'm doing the typing and I'm spelling it 10:44 wrong but thankfully Google knows this can't be that hard to find but even better let's take a look here his high 10:50 school thing well here's syester Sloan in his high school yearbook Michael Stallone maybe it was a m thing let's 10:55 take a look so he goes to the first person the first person interviewing this I want to talk about this a little bit Ruben cuz he's going he's not 11:01 looking for he's looking for an office oh wait hold the Press before he goes to the job interview mhm he starts reading 11:09 with Adrian on the bed yes yes yes yes yes he's reading to Adrian on the bed I think it was a Louis LaMore I don't know 11:14 if I'm saying that right lisis lore western novels he's reading really monotone and it is it's no matter how 11:21 many times I've seen the movie Rocky 2 it's still a hard scene to get through because it's so monotone like he does 11:27 such a good job acting as a monotone reading that he's read it's boring in the sense like yes he's reading monotone to his wife and good old Adrian 11:34 patiently listening letting him read the practice his reading it's no time to 11:39 cuss me snarled the robber by God fellas grab your rifles and take color cover 11:46 how's that sound it's good yeah no being a good reader is going to help me get a good office job you know want to hear 11:52 some more I can't wait okay there ain't no covers Smokey 11:59 said Brad Lincoln we better head for the canyon you read nice thank you you lie 12:05 nice thank you and he's like does this sound good 12:10 and she goes yeah and he goes well you lie good you know and uh but then he says something that's kind of like kind 12:16 of sad he says you know if I learn how to read good I'll get a good pain office 12:23 job so this is 1979 I know this was a different yeah 12:29 where it's like and this is the beautiful thing of Stallone he like Stallone wrote this I know so he writes 12:35 this scene as a writer so we know that of course that Sloan is very articulate very you know smart as far as 12:42 screenwriting goes he can write this dialogue he can act this so he's writing for this character saying Rocky believes 12:48 I know this is Rocky this is where Rocky I didn't see to brush up my reading skills I'll be in the office I'll be 12:55 talking to the water cooler I'll be inside not working outside can you imagine the alternative alter 13:01 alternative Rocky Universe where Rocky gots hired at the first office jop hey Rocco 13:07 go get me some copies oh yeah right away there he goes over gets the copies hey 13:13 Rocco we got a business meeting in uh 5 minutes so make sure you come take some notes Rocky sitting there taking I feel 13:20 so much pain in my heart just picturing this hey Rocky what what was last week's minutes uh oh yo uh so the can you 13:27 imagine the rocky character trying to conceptualize the business world yes office politics office politics yeah he 13:34 is wearing the nicest suit of his life he probably bought that suit specifically for the job search he's 13:41 wearing dress for the job want Dress for Success rock set what you going to tell your father I 13:49 don't know what you going to tell your mother let me go 13:59 I'm going to get rest for sucess shaping me up for the big time 14:07 baby get best for Success shaping it up for your 14:21 love these s in rocket have I ever stopped that's well 14:26 that's what I'm asking there are two great bands that came from Sweden oh 14:31 really Abba okay and rock set and both of them really Pride themselves in the 14:37 male female combination of singing well they're very into equality over there yep so kudos to them for that Google 14:44 Swedish woman I have a I have a hard time with an artist it doesn't matter if they're 14:50 an actor or a musician if I don't relate enough that I don't believe them you 14:56 know what I mean like I believe Roxette you do what I guess you have that that blonde Swedish thing going maybe what 15:03 are we supposed to believe though I don't understand what we're supposed to believe for example how much is Bono 15:08 worth he's Priceless no no no seriously is that worth I he's probably 4 to 500 15:14 million okay I think he's close to 800 okay so when you have somebody like that 15:19 wealthy right writing about Dress for Success man you know it's just like I 15:25 have a hard time like relating to the lyrics and the headp space like doesn't resonate anymore like when Guns and 15:31 Roses did Appetite for Destruction it was for every L life want to be a 15:37 teenager what I say low life but I mean that in the sense of down on their luck 15:42 yeah yeah yeah clawing at the Mean Streets yeah exactly like yeah right it just was just relatable but then you get 15:49 to like at some point this becomes less relatable right and so with with Rocky 15:55 you relate to the character you relate to the the actor but if you don't relate to him you're going to have a hard time 16:00 with the art right I don't know doesn't mind making any sense or you just want to move on well no I you want to move on 16:07 I'm still going to listen to rock set I'm just saying with rock set I just it's fun music it's totally just for fun music it's escapism do rock set netw 16:13 worth that's fine three million that's right man wow that's better than me it's 16:18 better than me better than probably both of us combined and everybody listening yeah that's just a really sad 16:25 scene to me when he tells Adrian yeah yeah if he's reading a western novel 600 16:32 million by the way Bono okay seeing he's reading a novel Western novel and he hey look I wish it was that easy to get a 16:38 job read leis Lewis Lamar Western novel and you're going to get a good pain office job yeah yeah 16:45 yeah here's the funny thing the next scene is we see him we see Rocky now going office office looking for work how 16:53 many novels did he read like I wonder at what point Rocky thought hey I've read 16:58 enough novels I've read enough you know like I wonder what point he said that conversation was never failed but it 17:03 goes Adrian Adrian got my suit uhhuh I I've read to you all week yes I'm better 17:10 to go out and hit the pavement bless his heart he went out there and he hit the pavement he talks to the first guy and 17:15 the guy says to him he goes how much education do you have and he's like ninth grade that's as high as he went 17:21 the guy goes do you have a criminal record and Rocky goes do you remember what he said I don't know in it 17:30 he says nothing to nothing to brag about can you imagine do that in a job 17:36 interview nothing to brag about so yes I have a criminal record but it's it's just for probably just for silly stuff 17:42 like who knows what he did I had a job interview hopefully it doesn't get too down on on anybody but anyways uh at a 17:48 job interview they asked what was the hardest thing you've gone through and they were referencing work of course oh 17:54 work rated work rated I said my grandpa baring my grandpa earlier this year 17:59 and it like this awkward moment and I was like oh he meant like regarding like my work experience he's like 18:06 yeah you could have said that you're a cure taker that you worked at the funeral home yeah that you should have 18:11 said I should have said that but I was like hey but you you missed that opportunity I did I did I did okay also 18:17 had a job interview oh where the interviewer fly was like gaping open 18:23 wide and I forgot what the job was for but I said hey by the way uh uh your fly 18:29 is wide open I want to zip that up I did not get that job no no the guy 18:35 before you got the job I don't get it hey somebody 18:42 laugh thank you oh we lost a viewer too somebody laughed up my blue joke 18:49 there and we lost a viewer at the same time then the interviewer says I read somewhere that you were a good fighter 18:55 why didn't you go fight fight and then Rocky goes I was kind of hoping to have a job like you sitting down I wondered 19:02 about this like where Rocky felt at this time he's 31 years old M I guess he's 19:07 been active his whole life he's he's been sparring in the ring he's been jogging he's been uh working the docks I 19:14 don't know what else he did before the docks does Rocky really want a death job it seemed odd for his character to say I 19:20 want to sit down like you are for the rest of my life well I think it's a self-esteem issue he wanted to be known 19:25 for his brains for his sorry Rocky if intelligence was me measured by the size of your heart Rocky would have been 19:31 Steven Hawking if Steven Hawking was in the ring that's the thing is that we're all different skills Rocky skill was his 19:38 love Yeah his compassion his heart and like the guy said I read somewhere 19:43 you're pretty good fighter yeah I can see that I can see that I remember one of our father Works in construction he 19:49 had a cooworker or somebody out there whatever who I think it's like age 40 or 19:54 probably close to my age joined Canadian Forces durin the military and everybody thought he was like crazy for doing that 20:00 yeah he just wanted to get out of the rain right it's funny that you bring that up when I joined when we're talking earlier uh that I was working at a pizza 20:07 place when I joined the military and I remember I got I got the message that hey you know your resume or your 20:13 application's been accepted your basic training starts whenever so I had to tell my the head cook that I you know 20:20 I'm leaving to go to a job where I would get a pension holiday time and vacation 20:26 time all this stuff mhm and I told the cook like okay I've given you my two weeks because I'm joining the military 20:33 and his look at me was like I'm like I I'm sorry am I supposed to stay at this pizza place and this is 20:40 no offense to him but if he's happy like here's the like I said I actually enjoyed working there but it wasn't 20:46 providing what my family needed so it wasn't about quitting cuz I wasn't happy there but I needed something to provide for my family quitter I guess right I'm 20:52 a quitter but the scoff that he gave me is like I'm sorry I do you ever get that when and I know a lot of I hate to say 20:58 lowle jobs but a lot of low-l jobs they seem to act that way when somebody kind of finds something better for themselves 21:04 that like oh you're just going to leave me here and go find yeah I'm yep you 21:09 know sour grapes sour grap in fact people treat people in the military that way sometimes I've seen it when they get 21:15 out of the military oh yeah you know people voluntary release because didn't work out for them which is totally fine 21:21 and they want to go find a different job that makes them happier or just to take a different perspective out of life and I always say to them good go do that 21:28 which makes you happy you don't have to stay in it doesn't matter then we see him in the lineup unemployment lineup 21:33 the guy says to him as well wouldn't you be better off with some high paying menial job so basically saying use your 21:40 strength to dig ditches yeah and Rocky's face was like I don't want to do that mhm after 21:48 his failed attempts trying to get a job in an office we see him washing his dog and he's having a heart-to- heart with 21:54 buckus in the bathtub and he's saying to buckus you know I need to get job we have a kid on the way cuz remember 22:00 Adrian's pregnant right now M and I need you know he thinking like a family man thinking like a provider I need I need to find work for my pregnant wife why 22:07 would she need work well she will get a job we don't want to spoil that but but you said I need I know for I need to 22:13 find I need to get a job for my for for my pregnant wife for my pregnant wife I got to find her she's not working 22:18 pulling her own weight so she's having a heart to heart with buckus in the in the tub saying I got to find work to take care of my family and you can see that 22:25 he's kind of talking himself into the idea like this offic job it's not working he kind of sees the right on the 22:31 wall that nobody's hiring me and paycheck needs to come in mortgage remember they bought that house that had solid oak floors solid yeah yeah so he 22:39 uh gets a job at the meat factory I will just say this about the meat factory this is a real meat factory this is Shamrock Meats so what I loved about 22:46 this is Paulie gets him the job or Paulie at least lines him up with Frank what do you call it the the owner not 22:52 the owner but the operator the the guy manager the guy does the hiring hey Alex has something to say hey Alex how you 22:59 doing favorite scene in Rocky is when Duke tells Creed to go another Direction than fighting Rocky again he's all wrong 23:06 for us baby I saw you beat that man like I 23:11 never saw no man get beat before and the man kept coming after 23:18 you and we don't need that kind of man in our 23:24 life I know what you're feeling okay Let It 23:31 Go Let It Go you're the 23:36 champ yeah it's a great scene in Rocky you want to Duke it out yeah yeah so 23:41 that was played by Mr Tony Burton Tony Burton was the actor of the play May recipes play Duke uh the trainer he goes 23:48 so you got to stay away from him he's he's not good for us that was a great scene I love that scene and you you see 23:54 Apollo like looking at looking at like yeah like like he's listening mhm and then they think they've done they think 24:01 they've done what what they're supposed to do to convince Creed not to fight Rocky again and then and then of course 24:08 Paul Creed says okay we need to humiliate this guy we need to go after him every which way and that's it's a great scene and we're going we're going 24:13 to tie we're going to talk more about that scene in our next episode which will not be today so thanks Alex that's 24:19 awesome thanks for your input hey just clicked on Alex Seahawks Seahawks is are um because we 24:26 don't have a football team in Victoria British Columbia they're our home team yeah Alex we Victoria British Columbia 24:32 right above you Seattle it's great City we I've seen a lot of good concerts down there I lived out in Washington state for a few years in the military worked 24:38 with the Americans good stuff welcome now we're in the meat factory so he gets the job Frank I believe the guy's name 24:44 was Frank Frank tells Rocky hey you can start working today go Hawks yeah I'm not a football fan but sure let's do it 24:51 they won the Super Bowl a couple years ago right Paulie then tells Rocky hey hey you're welcome for getting the job for me getting the job and then Rocky 24:57 says well you're thanks for saying thank you for the watch I gave you so good old paully there like he's such a 25:03 conflicting character you know he M mhm you know Rocky's done so and will do so 25:08 much for Paul uh for Paulie so yeah in this moment this is kind of well Rocky's like the your pizza boss well here's the 25:16 thing Rocky 2 is Paulie's Peak peak of what his life this is the skinniest most 25:23 healthy Paulie's ever been as a character was Rocky 2 Paulie's riding the docks mhm he's giving Rocky the job 25:30 so Ro so in Paulie's eyes right now he's kind of he's taking care of Rocky he's 25:35 kind of taking care of Rocky who's taking care of Adrian so now he's like you know I'm the guy I'm the guy we see later that Paulie buys Rocky's car when 25:42 times get rough so Paulie's kind of taking over the uh I've got my life together Rocky you need some help I'll 25:48 get you a job Rocky you need me to buy your car I'll buy your car yeah I I think that kind of shows the heart of 25:53 Polly he wants to provide he wants to do those things you know he does but his 25:59 ego he the desire is there but he doesn't have the heart of Rocky yeah I think maybe just might be more the credit than the desire to help I don't 26:06 know what do you think the meat factory is actually a really interesting sequence of events the 26:11 meat go back and watch that there's two meat montages here's a movie that's already 26:18 kind of okay we've talked about Rocky 2 Rocky 2 I think is the longest of all the Rocky movies him pounding the meat 26:25 uh this is not him pounding the meat this is him uh 26:32 no this is him actually slapping the meat S I actually want to talk about 26:38 that okay go back and watch the rocky meat slapping session I even I'm not even joking here 26:45 you know you know okay there's two there's two meat montages I call them 26:51 the meat montages there's two of them there's two there's there's the first day on the do okay there's two meat so 26:59 Stallone thought the meat Montage was so important that he had to write two so he's the writer director of this movie 27:05 right Rocky 2 is the longest movie of all the Rockies Stallone thought it was important enough to show Rocky just 27:11 working in the humdrum of life so he's working at this meat factory you see him stacking boxes you see him lugging the 27:16 meat around and then you see him taking those when the meat's up on the hooks the big like just that Hulk this that 27:24 big carcass carcass of this just a dead cat basically it's a dead cow with 27:31 no with no legs no head nothing right and then he takes sorry he takes do you 27:38 remember the scene where he takes that what do you call that um anyone there that's worked in the meat joint mhm he 27:44 takes that white wet that white wet slab of blanket 27:49 or whatever it is I find that seem both disgusting and cathartic at the same time because he cathartic disgust 27:56 disgusting we get okay I don't the reason why I find a cathartic is because I'm a bit OCD okay so I can see myself 28:03 doing this he takes the meat that or whatever that is he takes the meat he takes this like wet blanket thing puts 28:09 it over top of the meat and then he slaps it and then moves on to the next one takes that blanket thing puts it 28:16 around that big carcass of meat he slaps it again okay okay so that and in the movie that slapping sound I love I love 28:22 that 28:39 it's kind of those How It's Made shows so we'll we'll actually show it on the video here and we'll we'll edit this we 28:45 can't edit actually this is all visual here so those are actually watching live this oh wait you got to go back oh that's okay that's him coming home yeah 28:51 okay all right all right so there's two meat montages the first one is him with the first day on the job so we just 28:57 describe that and then he gets home he gets home from work on his first day and 29:03 Adrian's there to greet him the reason why she knows to come out to greet him is because he hits the garbage can with 29:09 his car yeah so Asia comes out and uh she's asking know how was your first day 29:14 at work and she goes oh you look 29:23 tired hey it's the best looking thing I've seen all day you look tired no n my 29:30 face is tired I feel okay you want to go B oh come on I feel Dynamic guyson ity 29:35 listen uh tomorrow I'm just thinking you know work maybe after work I'll take you out want to do something nice huh want 29:42 to do that I like to do that hat your stomach all right it look great and 29:49 Rocky you know forever doesn't want anyone to be concerned about it says well no my face looks tired but I feel 29:54 great I feel fantastic he says why don't we go on a date tomorrow night after work I'll take you out we'll do something nice then we go to the next 30:01 Montage of meat it wasn't enough that we had a meat Montage scene mhm we get one 30:07 30 seconds later meat Montage 2 but this one's a little bit sadder because at the end of this meat Montage Frank lets him 30:13 go Rocky goes well why are you letting me go I've worked really hard and Frank's like well I know you are a hard worker but uh you're sority we got to 30:20 let people go and then Rocky says can I just work you know I'll take less money I think it's it shows one the 30:26 desperation that he has to provide for his family and he's like you can't do that Union rules and Rocky goes Union 30:33 rules friend I got to let you go come on I'm working hard I'm goinging 30:39 good yeah real good but we got a cut back on manp Power and you ain't got enough time in you know seniority how 30:45 about if I take a cut and pay all right can't do it you your rules can I finish 30:51 out today sure Rocky I'm sorry yeah me too here's a little bit of trivia the 30:57 guy plays Frank he's a he's quite a big large I'll give you a second to think about he's been in another Stallone movie and it wasn't a Rocky movie it was 31:05 one of Stallone's most underrated films I think of all time really stoper my mum 31:10 shoot I don't think stoper my mum shoot was underrated oh I think it was uh I 31:16 think it was rated you think I got I think stoper my shoot was rated I saw 31:22 that in the theaters by the way I did too I did too yeah you know what's funny Seinfeld Seinfeld's funny I felt funny 31:29 I'm such a Stallone fan that I walked away from that movie still thinking ah I had fun well when you like somebody and 31:34 you can relate to them you're able to go on that Journey with them that's what I was trying to say earlier I don't relate 31:39 to rock set I can't go on that drawer ride like 31:47 spine lady you like a baby she says I love you I love you you 31:58 on join [Music] theide join the 32:04 Jo hello you fool I love you come on Jo 32:11 [Applause] 32:19 [Music] the that was a reference that was a reference to yeah ride look I know 32:26 stoper m m shoot is it's a terrible in every which way that's supposed to be but when I saw it 19 whatever it was 32:32 9089 90 whatever it was I didn't leave the theer miserable I was like oh yeah 32:38 it was corny fun his name is Frank McCrae he plays Frank in Rocky 2 oh he 32:43 was on lock upe yet that's the movie Frank McCrae was a football player his name in lockup was Eclipse cuz he's a 32:49 big man and so of course he's eclips he Clips the sun right so he did a great job in an underrated film called lockup 32:57 if you have haven't seen lock up and I'm surprise you haven't since you're Stone fans lockup is a great great film I 33:03 actually really like it Donald southerland's in it yeah it's a good film he's also been in Rockford Files so 33:08 he's in Rocky and The Rock Rockford Files he's into Rock Hill Street Blues 33:13 Red Dawn 48 Hours the Twilight Zone Licensed to Kill another 48 Hours loaded 33:21 weapon One Last Action Hero wow that was my first time being disappointed in in 33:26 Schwarz snagger last Action Hero good soundtrack yeah yeah Last Action Hero 33:31 could could have been better so I actually did reach out to Frank as well I reached out to Frank okay I tried to 33:36 reach it out to Frank cuz he's thankfully still with us oh well we have to keep in mind 1979 was almost almost 33:43 40 years ago yeah it was 38 years ago so some of the people that we try to reach out to be interviewed for this podcast 33:50 aren't alive anymore it's amazing how many maybe we should reach out with the medium it goes without saying Ruben I we 33:55 made to talk about this before I think and I think we were to do this every episode but we haven't we want people 34:01 have talked to me like I have friends at work of who know I do the podcast and they say interview Stallone like it's 34:07 just a given oh you like to go for hikes are you going to do Everest right that's 34:12 just it yeah do you like how yeah great analogy I don't know if I can top that Everest is the tallest mountain R excuse 34:19 the plan I don't know if I can top that analogy that's right yeah that was a it was a reference yeah I yeah I don't know 34:26 I don't know is this on yeah so it goes without saying that we'd love to interview Stallone I'm sure he's 34:33 you know what I'm pretty flexible if he wants to interview us that's okay too the majority of our listeners in the 34:38 states are from California what you're saying is that he listens he is a California resident we have a 34:44 confirmation now that Stallone um Stone listener uh my brother Jason 34:50 said yeah sadly it's on yeah Jason did say that our microphone sadly was on so to answer people's questions have we 34:56 tried we actually haven't directly asked alone to be on this podcast to be honest with you uh what we've done is we've had 35:02 interviews if you go back to our podcast we have interviewed some great people who have all themselves have had 35:09 interactions with Stallone like in real life interactions with them we're trying to I say build a resume ourselves but we 35:15 you know it's not about just getting Stallone on the podcast we want to treat every movie and every person who's 35:21 involved as much as we can with the proper respect they have it's not just about getting Stone on it's about talking about the great movies that 35:28 Sloan has given us maybe if we build enough of a catalog and get more than five listeners maybe he'll come on I 35:34 think the magic number is seven eight is this how many Rockies there are there's seven Rockies yeah yeah but also just 35:40 talking to people that have had dealings with the rocky franchise that's right from yeah we want to hear older stories 35:46 yeah yeah like that talking about the boy the running again if anyone from Pennsylvania knows of anybody that was 35:52 one of the kids running with Rocky and Rocky 2 we that because I would love to know how they got the kids all together 35:59 how long did they run for no offense to Salone you they didn't run the whole time they had to take breaks and film 36:05 different scenes different parts it just be cool to hear how that was filmed and okay kids you jump in here now this is 36:10 where you come in now and you know what a time that must have been for those kids cuz you know Rocky was the biggest 36:16 thing back then next to Star Wars I guess but so we're going to finish up this episode with just uh finishing up 36:21 these commercials sorry not boy I'm tired with Rocky looking for work he just got laid off from the meat Factory 36:28 you can only imagine spoil alert where this might go he's got pushed into a corner yeah he's got his back against 36:34 the ropes backs against the ropes he's been pushing the corner mhm I think this adds context or character or backdrop to 36:41 his actual character he's not really wanting to beat people to a pulp he's not really doesn't really exactly have 36:47 the eye of the tiger to fight more of the eye of the tiger to make something of himself well and he actually says to 36:53 the interviewer actually when they said I heard you're a good fighter why don't you fight and he has response was well when you've been punched in the face 500 37:00 times in a night starts to sting after a while yeah absolutely you know so it's like well that's why you look for a 37:05 different job that's why anybody looks for a different job is because what they're just doing was take a toll on their body and their soul well Ruben we 37:13 did a double episode live recording wow [Music] 37:20 ding you just about you just about ding before that just premature ding I mean 37:26 yeah the episodes over but we haven't like wow this is abrupt well sometimes 37:33 when you're watching like a show and you're like how are they going to end this and then it's like oh it's to be continued I'm going have to you know 37:39 that's how you binge watch or binge listen well
