- 0:20Speaker 1: Coming up on NHL Unscripted, how about the emotion that
- 0:23Speaker 1: a mont Rocadia's goaltenders showed after a regular season loss
- 0:27Speaker 1: and he's been outstanding this season. We'll talk about yak
- 0:29Speaker 1: abdobush Sin the file and sixty the buzzy new film
- 0:32Speaker 1: from that Bad Boys cinema, Yorgos Lanthemos' new film. It's
- 0:35Speaker 1: called Pogonia. It's starring Emmastone and now he's very skinny.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Jesse Plemons. Our special guest is Sam Malinsky of the
- 0:41Speaker 1: Colorado Avalanche. As we are chopping at the bit here unscripted,
- 0:44Speaker 1: JD back from the course, getting little notion. What do
- 0:46Speaker 1: we got?
- 0:47Speaker 2: Ketchup chips, avocado oil, potato cut I'm not Pinehurst boys
- 0:54Speaker 2: with no contract waiting to be signed.
- 0:59Speaker 1: That was what to say. You know what it's like
- 1:01Speaker 1: being a guy who played at the highest level, but
- 1:03Speaker 1: also what it's like when you're waiting for a new deal,
- 1:05Speaker 1: not sure if things are gonna go. So you can
- 1:06Speaker 1: relate to the situation right now, playing without a contract
- 1:09Speaker 1: since Halloween.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Yeah, trying to be trying to deal with this Wi
- 1:13Speaker 2: Fi here as well. But we're gonna make it work.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Ladies and gentlemen. We've just we're just trying. We me
- 1:22Speaker 2: and you come to work every day. That's all we do.
- 1:24Speaker 2: We put on our work boots, we work eighty hours
- 1:27Speaker 2: a week, and that's all we're expecting is a little
- 1:30Speaker 2: love back.
- 1:31Speaker 1: All I want, literally, one thing is just me and JD.
- 1:33Speaker 1: NHL lework. This can't be that hard. Last Friday I
- 1:36Speaker 1: did NHL Tonight first Yip with Steve Conry. Very nice man,
- 1:39Speaker 1: but I'm like you plug JD in there. That's an
- 1:40Speaker 1: hour of goodness, easy way to kick off your weekend.
- 1:43Speaker 1: And then Saturday you were after me. How can we
- 1:46Speaker 1: not just align this great the old trade may maybe
- 1:48Speaker 1: I have the authority to do that. I'll just call
- 1:50Speaker 1: up whoever, Like I had Dave read with me Canada
- 1:53Speaker 1: USA Women's hockey puck drop but not intermissions. And then
- 1:56Speaker 1: NHL Tonight going to Rangers Islanders. You came on after me.
- 1:59Speaker 1: We're just gonna start like wife swapping. I'll just make trades.
- 2:02Speaker 1: I'll text Reader, go, hey, can you give me diverse?
- 2:04Speaker 1: We got problem? You would have worked early, would have
- 2:05Speaker 1: been great.
- 2:06Speaker 2: I would have loved to have work her. I worked
- 2:08Speaker 2: the ten or twelve shift that night. I wasn't home
- 2:10Speaker 2: till two in the morning, but I grind and I digress. Listen,
- 2:15Speaker 2: this is it's a young man's league. And uh we
- 2:20Speaker 2: work in the same building but and live in the
- 2:22Speaker 2: same state, but never see each other. So riddle me
- 2:26Speaker 2: that I got a question. Riddle me that.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I just got back from Edmonton. And as a
- 2:30Speaker 1: guy who's well traveled, literally, you went to Italy on
- 2:32Speaker 1: your delayed honeymoon, you played in Russia, You've been all
- 2:34Speaker 1: over your well versed in culture, et cetera. Can you
- 2:37Speaker 1: name me another place where you would do this. I
- 2:40Speaker 1: went to Deadmonton and my goal was to not go
- 2:43Speaker 1: outside at all, and I was able to pull it off.
- 2:45Speaker 1: I took a flight with Thomas Hickey Jersey to Calgary.
- 2:48Speaker 1: From Calgary to Edmonton, got hotel late Sunday night, went
- 2:52Speaker 1: right to bed. Next morning morning skate JW. Mariott as
- 2:54Speaker 1: you know which, you didn't stay at that hotel for
- 2:56Speaker 1: some reason near in the Cup final, but the JW.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Marriott is connected. Yeah, went to morning skate with Pronger
- 3:02Speaker 1: and Jodi salidrst. The crew came back, watched a movie
- 3:05Speaker 1: on my phone. Not great, but hey, screener season. I
- 3:07Speaker 1: got on the phone, gonna watch it. Pogonia Great, we'll
- 3:09Speaker 1: get into that later, went back to the game, took
- 3:11Speaker 1: a REDI right after the game twelve fifteen am, as
- 3:14Speaker 1: you know, that airport's a good thirty minutes away, and
- 3:17Speaker 1: then went home. Can you think of me a place
- 3:19Speaker 1: where there's a greater disparity between this. The rink is awesome, awesome,
- 3:23Speaker 1: there's not a bad seat, as you know at Rogers Place.
- 3:25Speaker 1: The fans are electric. It was a great game. They
- 3:28Speaker 1: were down three one after forty McDavid scores twice, puts
- 3:30Speaker 1: the team on his back. They went in overtime. Can
- 3:32Speaker 1: you think of another place where the hockey is so
- 3:34Speaker 1: good but the city is so eah.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Winnipeg, that's a good one.
- 3:44Speaker 1: That's awesome in the worl. I'm like, I try it
- 3:45Speaker 1: to go outside Candialife Center. But the game is awesome,
- 3:48Speaker 1: the fans are into it. I love it.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Winnipeg's up there. I mean, honestly, let's let me throw
- 3:53Speaker 2: you into a little segue, into the quack quack segue Anaheim.
- 3:57Speaker 2: I mean that part of town of Anaheim isn't the
- 3:59Speaker 2: best by the Honda Center. It's not great, but they're
- 4:03Speaker 2: playing some fantastic hockey. And when you they get that
- 4:06Speaker 2: horn goaling that gold horn. Nice the fucking fog horn.
- 4:13Speaker 2: I tell you what. That's a hell of a place
- 4:15Speaker 2: to play when it's rocking.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Okay, I love the segment. We'll dive into a second.
- 4:18Speaker 1: I just want Tally to confirmed because I've never actually
- 4:19Speaker 1: been to a game to go see the Ducks. Can
- 4:21Speaker 1: you see the Ducks. I've never seen the Ducks game.
- 4:23Speaker 1: I always want to go to the Ducks game.
- 4:26Speaker 2: It's a good building. I like the building.
- 4:28Speaker 3: There's a train that goes right there that literally spits
- 4:30Speaker 3: you out right in front of the building. I think
- 4:32Speaker 3: the energy, especially when the team is winning, is great.
- 4:35Speaker 3: It's I've actually always said it's a very underrated fan base.
- 4:39Speaker 3: When the team's good, as they have been for most
- 4:42Speaker 3: of the time that they've been in the NHL, the
- 4:45Speaker 3: building is pretty rocking.
- 4:47Speaker 2: And when you.
- 4:47Speaker 3: Get like a nice Kings Ducks rivalry game there where
- 4:51Speaker 3: you know all all the Kings fans took the freeway
- 4:54Speaker 3: down to cheer on their boys, it can get pretty
- 4:56Speaker 3: Rowdy's it's a fun place, not a ton of do.
- 4:59Speaker 3: Once the game's over, you just get back on the train, basically,
- 5:02Speaker 3: but you run home, solid building, especially when the Ducks
- 5:06Speaker 3: as they are now are absolutely balling out.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Oh I love it. Roach to Hana Center. That's a
- 5:12Speaker 1: great segue. Leo Carlson has taken over the NHL cutter coach,
- 5:15Speaker 1: what a trade? Doesn't want to play for the Flyers, Fine,
- 5:18Speaker 1: you can play for the Ducks. We'll get Jamie Drysdale
- 5:20Speaker 1: goa to among the league leaders and goals. Jacob Truba
- 5:23Speaker 1: leads a league and plus minus anaheim best offense in
- 5:26Speaker 1: the league. Joel Quinnville is gonna be a finals for
- 5:28Speaker 1: the jack Adams. It could be the fourth time they'll
- 5:30Speaker 1: have done so. He one in two thousand with Saint
- 5:32Speaker 1: Louis was a finalans for Chicago and Florida the late
- 5:34Speaker 1: Pat Burns when they were three times with three different teams. No,
- 5:38Speaker 1: Schue de Murz is back. You said watch up for
- 5:40Speaker 1: the Ducks. You said they'd be a playoff team. They're
- 5:42Speaker 1: on fire right now.
- 5:44Speaker 2: I'm hard as the rock.
- 5:45Speaker 4: Guys.
- 5:46Speaker 2: I'm gonna tell you what because I'm right again. I
- 5:50Speaker 2: you know, they they drop one last night, which is,
- 5:54Speaker 2: you know, against the team that is the team to
- 5:57Speaker 2: beat in the NHL right now, the Colorado Avalanche and
- 6:00Speaker 2: Nathan McKinnon is on a fuck another level. And Cale
- 6:03Speaker 2: mccarr as well. This might be the biggest lopsided Norris
- 6:06Speaker 2: win of all time with Cale mccarr this year, he
- 6:09Speaker 2: is If he does not get one of the votes,
- 6:12Speaker 2: if he stays on this trajectory, I would be shocked.
- 6:16Speaker 2: This would be the biggest landslides. It is Nick Lindstrom
- 6:19Speaker 2: in the seven years he wanted to row. This is unbelievable.
- 6:22Speaker 1: It's a bold statement how much people love Quinn Hughes,
- 6:24Speaker 1: what a great player he is. And you're saying that's.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Quinn's been hurt. If Kile mccarr stays on this, Quin
- 6:30Speaker 2: whu has already missed some games. There's nobody after Quinn.
- 6:33Speaker 2: You got Lane Hudson, There's nobody mcar but Leo Carlson
- 6:40Speaker 2: and Carter go to both of eleven goals. This ducks team. Man,
- 6:44Speaker 2: oh man, this is fun. One of the quickest turnarounds
- 6:47Speaker 2: I've seen from a perennial bottom feeder to a I mean,
- 6:53Speaker 2: I said playoff like that. I was seeing him in
- 6:57Speaker 2: the playoffs. This is a cup contender. This is a
- 7:00Speaker 2: cup contender. This team. Jacob Trueba leading the league in
- 7:03Speaker 2: plus mind. This team has put together. They're one piece
- 7:09Speaker 2: away from like really really making it a very a
- 7:14Speaker 2: very strong case to beat the team to beat. You know,
- 7:17Speaker 2: you look at some of those contracts, Frank Fatronto kind
- 7:20Speaker 2: of on the fourth line. He's a goal scorer. You
- 7:22Speaker 2: could see a lot of teams wanting somebody like him.
- 7:25Speaker 2: With that contract, you can go out and get another
- 7:27Speaker 2: depth piece there, maybe another depth defenseman. They're missing Radco Gutis,
- 7:32Speaker 2: but Drew Helison has stepped up. They got a great
- 7:34Speaker 2: goaltending group. We keep talking about him every week, but
- 7:37Speaker 2: they keep just It's just amazing to watch. And Leo
- 7:40Speaker 2: Carlson is a budding star in the making like he is.
- 7:43Speaker 2: You got Maclin Celebrini, you got Connor Bdard, and you
- 7:46Speaker 2: got Lio Carlson. Those three, the league is in great
- 7:49Speaker 2: hands moving forward for the next ten to fifteen years
- 7:52Speaker 2: with these three guys. And you know you had thrown
- 7:55Speaker 2: Matthew Schaeffer. This is a very We're entering the golden
- 7:59Speaker 2: age of the NHL. I think when you see that
- 8:02Speaker 2: change of the guard. You know, you got those top guys,
- 8:05Speaker 2: the Crosby's, the Ov's, the co Paitars, the Dowdies, they're
- 8:10Speaker 2: kind of all leaving. And then now you have Connor
- 8:12Speaker 2: and McKinnon that are the tops of the top. But
- 8:16Speaker 2: then just below that you got this young guard coming
- 8:19Speaker 2: through and they are just they are just they look
- 8:23Speaker 2: so good. They are they are all types of skilled offensively,
- 8:29Speaker 2: can play both sides of the puck. And it's gonna be.
- 8:32Speaker 2: The NHL is in a really good place right now.
- 8:34Speaker 1: It's amazing. I think Anaheim saw twenty one point improvement
- 8:37Speaker 1: in the standings year over year. That was only good
- 8:39Speaker 1: enough for twelfth place in the Western Conference. So Greg
- 8:41Speaker 1: Cronin gets let go Q comes in sixty seven years
- 8:44Speaker 1: of age, had not coached in the NHL since twenty
- 8:47Speaker 1: and twenty one, and you Cryder from the Lorax.
- 8:50Speaker 2: Yeah, look, Flora looks like the Lorax.
- 8:53Speaker 1: I want to listen. True, but great Cryder's friend and
- 8:55Speaker 1: teammate with the Rangers. But also I mean Alex Klorne
- 8:59Speaker 1: radco gutis, you know, getting part of a veteran corrier
- 9:01Speaker 1: that Paperdick liked. I mean, overall through fifteen games. I
- 9:05Speaker 1: can't reiterate this is enough. Four point one to three
- 9:07Speaker 1: goals per game. They put up seven goals and wins
- 9:10Speaker 1: against the Sharks, the Bruins, the Panthers and the Stars,
- 9:13Speaker 1: and said Verbeek, we're playing fast. We certainly have speed.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Five on five. Under Quinvill, they've been fantastic. They've got
- 9:19Speaker 1: from two point three six goals a game jed to
- 9:21Speaker 1: three point two to one. That's that's demonstrative improvement.
- 9:25Speaker 2: Joe Quenville, the Lorax opens it up. He looks like
- 9:30Speaker 2: the Lorax. Tell me, how about Lucas do Stell. They
- 9:34Speaker 2: were twenty third in the NHL. Why do you think
- 9:36Speaker 2: it's per game? Why do you think they traded John
- 9:38Speaker 2: Gibson because they had Lucas do stal That's why they
- 9:41Speaker 2: got rid of him. Why did you trade him? They
- 9:43Speaker 2: brought in They have just the perfect mix of veterans
- 9:46Speaker 2: and young guys. And Chris Kraded coming from New York.
- 9:49Speaker 2: He's a perennial twenty goal scorer. He's great for that
- 9:53Speaker 2: power play. You got Truba, you got Goudas kil Rn,
- 9:58Speaker 2: you got Ryan Strom. That's not even playing. He's still injured.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Troy Terry who is one of the more underrated players
- 10:03Speaker 2: in the NHL skill wise, just he's just doing some
- 10:07Speaker 2: phenomenal things for that line with Leo and Cutter and
- 10:12Speaker 2: you know, Mason McTavish, you got be Beckett, Seneke, these guys.
- 10:17Speaker 2: This is a great, great hockey team and they're gonna
- 10:20Speaker 2: be good for years to come.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Love the photo conference for the Ducks last on in
- 10:24Speaker 1: just third of the NHL, and goals set were expected.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Nine O eight's ay percentage. It's a great movie, the
- 10:30Speaker 1: low Rex and definitely Quinbole's mustache. It's a good Halloween
- 10:33Speaker 1: look as well. Nine goals in twelve games for Crider
- 10:35Speaker 1: that segues us to youth is served you talk about
- 10:38Speaker 1: the you as you kind of just alluded to JD
- 10:40Speaker 1: of the fact that the league is in kid hands, all
- 10:42Speaker 1: these great young players. So McKinnon, as you said, different level. McDavid,
- 10:45Speaker 1: obviously I saw at first hand Monday with Wage just
- 10:47Speaker 1: took over the gameless. Two goals laid against the Blue Jackets,
- 10:50Speaker 1: Willie Neilander, Jack Eichel. But as of Wednesday, three youngsters Carlson, Connor,
- 10:55Speaker 1: Bdard and Maclin celebraty your boy all ranking in the
- 10:58Speaker 1: top five in NHL scoring, but Darren Carlson named second
- 11:02Speaker 1: and third Star of the Weeks by the fact they
- 11:03Speaker 1: can't drink alcohol yet. In the US, we the Spin
- 11:07Speaker 1: and check Lich segment we had an Amazon Prime was
- 11:09Speaker 1: who wins a cup first, McDavid or Badard in Prongress
- 11:11Speaker 1: and I'll raise you one better. I think it'll be Macklin, Celebrini,
- 11:15Speaker 1: Sharks al win a cup. Let's go before McDavid and Baard.
- 11:18Speaker 2: I was like, Wow, I can't even get on Amazon Prime. Man,
- 11:22Speaker 2: They're bringing Chris prong Ground. It's just crazy. How much
- 11:26Speaker 2: good work too. You just you think you put good
- 11:28Speaker 2: workout there and they reward you what they don't costa coast.
- 11:31Speaker 1: You can do it. But Amazon Prime, we can't get you.
- 11:33Speaker 2: Apparently, no, I can't. Apparently Monday nights is a day
- 11:37Speaker 2: I don't work. It's a sabbath for me. Yeah, listen,
- 11:44Speaker 2: Connor bdard Is, I think a lot of people need
- 11:48Speaker 2: to give him his flowers because from where he was
- 11:50Speaker 2: last year, and there's a lot of rumblings and mumblings
- 11:54Speaker 2: about his attitude and how he was developing in his game,
- 11:58Speaker 2: and he wasn't playing a tin for game. He looks
- 12:00Speaker 2: great right now. He's playing, he wants the puck, he's
- 12:03Speaker 2: playing hard on the puck. He's elevating this team. The
- 12:05Speaker 2: Chicago team is doing way better than I think anybody
- 12:08Speaker 2: could have predicted. And anybody that's saying that they knew
- 12:12Speaker 2: this was going to happen as lying through their teeth.
- 12:14Speaker 2: And then the same thing goes for Macklin and San Jose.
- 12:17Speaker 2: You know San Jose to be seven to six and
- 12:20Speaker 2: a couple of what three seven six and three right
- 12:23Speaker 2: now I think is so positive for this franchise. They're
- 12:29Speaker 2: playing some great hockey. It's exciting, it's fun, they're playing,
- 12:33Speaker 2: they're playing good defensively, they're getting good goaltending. But they're
- 12:37Speaker 2: also just I mean Macklin, Leo and Connor, these three guys.
- 12:42Speaker 2: It's going to be fun to watch them in the next,
- 12:44Speaker 2: like I said, the next ten to fifteen years, and
- 12:46Speaker 2: youth is serving. They are serving absolute, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful
- 12:52Speaker 2: shit right now. And like I said, I can't keep
- 12:56Speaker 2: reiterating that the league is in good hands. I don't
- 12:58Speaker 2: know how long they'll keep this up because I think
- 13:01Speaker 2: it will be tough for Macklin and Connor based on
- 13:03Speaker 2: just their team. But you know Leo, I didn't expect
- 13:08Speaker 2: Leo to have this big of a jump. He looked
- 13:11Speaker 2: like he put on ten to fifteen pounds this offseason.
- 13:13Speaker 2: He looks fantastic. It's just a good overall team top
- 13:17Speaker 2: to bottom. This team is just sorry, not this team.
- 13:21Speaker 2: These young guys are just fantastic. And I mean Macklin
- 13:24Speaker 2: with that overtime pass to cal Him Graft last night,
- 13:27Speaker 2: just amazing. That's set up he had to Will Smith.
- 13:31Speaker 2: It's just a good changing of the guard right now.
- 13:33Speaker 2: And I don't think anybody could expect this to happen
- 13:37Speaker 2: as quickly as it's happening right now.
- 13:39Speaker 1: So the young stars right now looking great in the NHL.
- 13:41Speaker 1: It's good news for the league. Our latest installment now
- 13:43Speaker 1: of imposter syndrome are the Bees for real? Don't look now.
- 13:47Speaker 1: After losing six in or zero last month, the Boston
- 13:49Speaker 1: Bruins have now won eight of nine games. They've rocked
- 13:52Speaker 1: it up the Atlanta Division standings. David Pashanak gets a
- 13:55Speaker 1: milestone last night. He's rocking it up as far as
- 13:57Speaker 1: being a point per game kind of guy. And Morgan
- 14:00Speaker 1: freaky deeky geeky shut up to taw among the league
- 14:03Speaker 1: leaders with eleven jad. I saw them against the Senators.
- 14:06Speaker 1: They had no offensive gym, they couldn't get the puck
- 14:08Speaker 1: for the neutral zone, and all of a sudden they
- 14:10Speaker 1: went on a tear. I would have told you this
- 14:12Speaker 1: team stinks, not gonna make the playoffs. Well now they're
- 14:14Speaker 1: listening to Marco Sturm. I mean, look fantastic out there.
- 14:19Speaker 2: A nice stem, give me a nice stam. Listen. Do
- 14:24Speaker 2: I think they'll keep it up? I'm still adamant that
- 14:26Speaker 2: they won't keep this up. I think Jeremy Swiman has
- 14:29Speaker 2: been playing some great hockey as well, but they've just
- 14:32Speaker 2: been keeping games tight, relying on these one goal games.
- 14:36Speaker 2: I think they're They're one of the top teams playing
- 14:39Speaker 2: one goal games. They're just to hang in there. Carried
- 14:43Speaker 2: by Posternok twenty two points. I know it's not, you know,
- 14:48Speaker 2: anything to scoff at in terms of the league, but
- 14:52Speaker 2: they're just playing a right They're playing a good brand
- 14:54Speaker 2: of hockey, and I just think that if I'm in Boston,
- 14:58Speaker 2: this is about as happy as you can be for
- 15:00Speaker 2: the group of guys that you have. I don't think
- 15:02Speaker 2: they'll keep it up. I think eventually it's going to
- 15:04Speaker 2: revert to the mean. But they're just winning the games
- 15:07Speaker 2: and you need to win them, and they're coming up
- 15:09Speaker 2: with some great clutch moments early in the season. Morgan geeky.
- 15:14Speaker 2: You know, I love to quote by Posternoch there a
- 15:16Speaker 2: couple of weeks ago he said talked about Morgan geeky
- 15:19Speaker 2: and how he wants him to be more of a
- 15:22Speaker 2: shooter because he thinks he has one of the better
- 15:24Speaker 2: shots in the league and is kind of pushing Morgan
- 15:27Speaker 2: and telling him, hey, man, like, when you have the opportunity,
- 15:31Speaker 2: don't look to pass, just shoot fire the biscuit. And
- 15:33Speaker 2: you're seeing that, you're seeing the fruits of that, and
- 15:35Speaker 2: that's great from your captain and Pasta and the guy
- 15:38Speaker 2: that you want leading your franchise is to be uplifting
- 15:41Speaker 2: guys and uplifting guys in your line and other think
- 15:43Speaker 2: he's doing a great job. And yeah, it's a fun story.
- 15:46Speaker 2: There's a lot of fun stories early in the season.
- 15:48Speaker 2: I don't think the Bruins make the playoffs this year,
- 15:51Speaker 2: and if they do, it's the last wild card spot.
- 15:54Speaker 2: But early on it's exciting to watch.
- 15:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I still think that a lack of offensive talent. They're
- 15:58Speaker 1: kind of a team in transition in terms of identity.
- 16:00Speaker 1: But I'm with you right now, they're rolling a good
- 16:02Speaker 1: news for Storm, who's a great guy. I thought on
- 16:04Speaker 1: Nikito's a door off. Speaking of the Bruins drilling Austin Matthews,
- 16:08Speaker 1: he left for a lower body injury in the second part,
- 16:10Speaker 1: did not return. He still needs to be evaluated. But
- 16:13Speaker 1: Craig Burubi, obviously chief not a guy who isn't afraid
- 16:17Speaker 1: of a little tough stuff back in his playing career,
- 16:19Speaker 1: said to him, I said to the media should say
- 16:21Speaker 1: after I think it's a penalty. Personally, I'm not the referee.
- 16:23Speaker 1: I don't like it. I don't like to hit. Matthews
- 16:25Speaker 1: is in a vulnerable position, so whatever, nothing I can
- 16:28Speaker 1: do about it. Do you think JD should have been
- 16:30Speaker 1: penalized in the plays the door for the bright by
- 16:32Speaker 1: Way said, it was a normal play. I didn't really
- 16:34Speaker 1: hit him. I hit my right shoulder ninety nine percent
- 16:36Speaker 1: of my hits at NHL or with my right shoulder.
- 16:38Speaker 1: There was really no intention to hurt him.
- 16:42Speaker 2: It was a clean him. It wasn't It wasn't much
- 16:45Speaker 2: to it it's just the way he fell into the boards.
- 16:47Speaker 2: He was in that weird spot where you're like two
- 16:50Speaker 2: three feet from the boards and backing up into the defenseman,
- 16:54Speaker 2: and I just didn't think he thought he would get
- 16:57Speaker 2: kind of rolled up like that. Tudorus a big boy,
- 17:02Speaker 2: so I just think it was one of those things
- 17:04Speaker 2: that he wasn't coming like from one hundred miles away.
- 17:09Speaker 2: He kind of slowed up a bit, he just used
- 17:11Speaker 2: his body and I think just Matthews fell awkwardly and
- 17:13Speaker 2: that Breuvey is going to be mad, of course, he's
- 17:15Speaker 2: they're fishing for something in Toronto and fishing for a
- 17:18Speaker 2: way to rally the troops. But I don't think it
- 17:21Speaker 2: was anything that was super malicious from Zadoroff. I think
- 17:24Speaker 2: that's the way he plays all the time, and that's
- 17:27Speaker 2: what we get. I know, Toronto fans are gonna be pissed,
- 17:30Speaker 2: but we saw Domie try to go after him as well.
- 17:33Speaker 2: But I just think Matthew's big guy too. He's you know,
- 17:37Speaker 2: over six to two and strong kid, and Matthew Zadorff
- 17:42Speaker 2: just leaned on him a bit. But it's just Matthews
- 17:45Speaker 2: just seemed like he's been banged up last year a
- 17:47Speaker 2: little bit. He's fighting through some stuff. He seemed healthy.
- 17:50Speaker 2: I hope it's nothing that was from last year, lingering
- 17:52Speaker 2: that he hurt or it's nothing like a shoulder. But
- 17:55Speaker 2: time will tell. But I don't think zadoroff as much
- 17:58Speaker 2: as I want to be on that page of he's
- 18:01Speaker 2: a you know, it was being a shit and was
- 18:04Speaker 2: was trying to cause some havoc. I think he just
- 18:08Speaker 2: was was finishing his check and unfortunately these things happen
- 18:13Speaker 2: in the NHL. It's a quick game. Things happened in
- 18:15Speaker 2: the moment, and I just hope Matthews isn't out for
- 18:18Speaker 2: long and he's he's he's gonna be okay.
- 18:20Speaker 1: And that's what least fans are hoping for as well.
- 18:22Speaker 1: In the meantime, not some Condrey scoring a goal in
- 18:24Speaker 1: this one thousandth game for last place Calgary. A great
- 18:28Speaker 1: night for nas. He saw his parents there, He saw
- 18:29Speaker 1: at one point all the Flames wearing the Cadrew jerseys.
- 18:31Speaker 1: Was very cool. A nice moment there. He could be
- 18:34Speaker 1: on the move though, because everyone knows the Flames right
- 18:35Speaker 1: now stink. In the meantime, speaking of struggling, the Blues
- 18:38Speaker 1: are at the bottom of the Central and they made
- 18:40Speaker 1: Jordan Tyro a healthy scratch. How about what Ryan O'Reilly said.
- 18:43Speaker 5: JD can't guess six what pass to save my life?
- 18:46Speaker 5: So as you're not gonna have much successive you know,
- 18:50Speaker 5: I'm playing pathetic like that, So it's it's stupid. I
- 18:53Speaker 5: don't know the answer. I've had one good year in
- 18:57Speaker 5: my career and I don't have an answer.
- 19:00Speaker 1: As far as Cairo is concerned, specifically, this guy's got
- 19:03Speaker 1: a hefty contrey, like six seasons remaining eight point one
- 19:07Speaker 1: two five million dollar capit on his contract, and the
- 19:09Speaker 1: contract includes a full note trade clause which kicked into
- 19:12Speaker 1: effect this summers. The Blues would need his approval before
- 19:14Speaker 1: treating him anywhere. The NHL Toronto native over the past
- 19:17Speaker 1: four seasons, he's been very productive, particularly five on five,
- 19:20Speaker 1: three times seventy point winger. He's only twenty seven, but
- 19:23Speaker 1: a healthy scratch. Clearly Montgomery was sending a message to Kyrou.
- 19:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know how you can move that Cayro
- 19:30Speaker 2: deal yet again. You know, you look at the Zegres
- 19:36Speaker 2: deal and that's kind of probably what the framework is.
- 19:39Speaker 2: You sign these kids young nowadays because you understand that
- 19:42Speaker 2: if it doesn't pan out, somebody's still gonna be willing
- 19:45Speaker 2: to take that contract. On versus, if you're giving you know,
- 19:48Speaker 2: Cayrou's twenty eight, twenty nine, you're give him a seven
- 19:51Speaker 2: year deal, It's hard to offload that. So, you know,
- 19:55Speaker 2: can I see a Toronto looking I think Toronto desperately
- 19:58Speaker 2: needs some speed. I think it's gonna be interesting. The
- 20:01Speaker 2: trades is here. If somebody can pull it off, It's
- 20:03Speaker 2: gonna be very difficult pull it off because you know,
- 20:07Speaker 2: depending on what the precedent is for what is the return.
- 20:11Speaker 2: You know, you look at the Nick Schmaltz, the Nods
- 20:13Speaker 2: and Cadre's Jordan Cayrou. You know, there's Ryan O'Reilly. I
- 20:17Speaker 2: think you know you look at Ryan O'Reilly and Jonathan
- 20:20Speaker 2: marshas so on Nashville. These are two guys that I
- 20:22Speaker 2: think are are primed to be traded if it keeps
- 20:27Speaker 2: going the way it's going for Nashville because they can't
- 20:29Speaker 2: wait around too long with those contracts. But yeah, Jordan
- 20:33Speaker 2: Cayrou Man Saint Louis is a fucking mess, Like it's I.
- 20:38Speaker 1: Don't understand it because last year they were disappointed and
- 20:40Speaker 1: they make a push towards the playoffs, you go, they've
- 20:42Speaker 1: turned the corner. Now they've progressed again.
- 20:44Speaker 2: Yeah, it's caustic. Saint Louis. They do this kind of
- 20:47Speaker 2: every year, and I just don't know when when's the
- 20:50Speaker 2: year when you can't just kind of call your way back.
- 20:52Speaker 2: And I just think they might be too far out
- 20:55Speaker 2: to do that. And you know, you got Robert Thomas
- 20:58Speaker 2: still in the holloway kind of. Kyrou's the expendable one.
- 21:02Speaker 2: They got a lot of guys signed to long term deals.
- 21:04Speaker 2: But I could see somebody taking that contract, and I
- 21:07Speaker 2: could see in Toronto they can make it work. But yeah,
- 21:11Speaker 2: it's it's it's going to be very interesting because if
- 21:15Speaker 2: I'm making a trade and I'm a team right now,
- 21:17Speaker 2: you want to do it right now versus waiting closer
- 21:19Speaker 2: to the Olympics deadline, because for the sole reason that
- 21:24Speaker 2: you want, you want the guy that you're trading for
- 21:26Speaker 2: to have some opportunity to kind of get comfortable and
- 21:28Speaker 2: get comfortable in the system. And if they can't, you know,
- 21:33Speaker 2: you do you don't you want a little bit more runway.
- 21:36Speaker 2: So doing the deal earlier versus later, I think it's
- 21:38Speaker 2: a lot more beneficial this year, especially with the Olympics,
- 21:40Speaker 2: So I expect to see something the next three weeks, if, if,
- 21:44Speaker 2: if anything, I can't see somebody waiting till after Christmas
- 21:47Speaker 2: to make a trade. I just I wouldn't understand it
- 21:50Speaker 2: as a as a organization. I think you kind of
- 21:53Speaker 2: got to be a little bit running gun as a
- 21:57Speaker 2: GM and if you think you need to make a move,
- 21:59Speaker 2: you got to make a move now.
- 22:02Speaker 1: And tal Jad has given you. Jordan Benington's Now we're
- 22:04Speaker 1: speaking the Blues. What's the latest? What are we getting
- 22:06Speaker 1: bitter on the show?
- 22:08Speaker 2: I've reached out to him.
- 22:10Speaker 3: I think, uh the whole uh hulla blue over him
- 22:13Speaker 3: trying to steal the OVI puck maybe uh sentiment to
- 22:17Speaker 3: hiding a little bit.
- 22:18Speaker 2: I'm not sure. I haven't heard back working on it.
- 22:21Speaker 2: Come on, Tom, for Fox's sakes, get that get that bitch,
- 22:27Speaker 2: get up.
- 22:28Speaker 1: We gotta get better on here. At some point we
- 22:30Speaker 1: come back. We do have Sam Malensky, Yes, talk a
- 22:32Speaker 1: little talking with a guy who played collegiately for Cornell Universe.
- 22:36Speaker 1: That means he's smart, right, talk about what it's like
- 22:38Speaker 1: right now, player based team the coloriadlines. They've looked great
- 22:41Speaker 1: so far. I we'll talk about Milnsky, the pride of
- 22:43Speaker 1: Lakeville South High School. Well, Nathan McKinnon stories for us,
- 22:47Speaker 1: maybe some stories with the Cronkeys, all that more. Next
- 22:49Speaker 1: to Sam Malensky on NHL and Scripted after this, our
- 23:06Speaker 1: next guest played collegiately for Cornell Universities.
- 23:09Speaker 2: You know he's smart.
- 23:10Speaker 1: He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the
- 23:12Speaker 1: Colorado Avalanche in twenty twenty three has since become a
- 23:15Speaker 1: fixture on the blue line for the NHL's most exciting teams.
- 23:19Speaker 1: It is the pride of Lakeville South High School. That's right,
- 23:21Speaker 1: Sam Malinsky, Sam, Welcome to NHL and SCRIPTO.
- 23:24Speaker 6: Great to see him, man, Yeah, you guys too, Thanks
- 23:27Speaker 6: for having me on.
- 23:28Speaker 1: So the Avalanche have looked great so far this season.
- 23:31Speaker 1: I mean, there was a tough first round defeat against Dallas.
- 23:33Speaker 1: What was the message conveyed by either coach Bednar or
- 23:36Speaker 1: just by your teammates of how you were going to
- 23:38Speaker 1: approach this season?
- 23:40Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, I don't think we needed a change
- 23:42Speaker 7: too much, just kind of a revenge revenge tour for us.
- 23:47Speaker 7: I thought we had a really good team last year
- 23:50Speaker 7: and a similar team this year. So we just kind
- 23:51Speaker 7: of wanted to learn from that and make sure we
- 23:54Speaker 7: can get it done this year.
- 23:57Speaker 2: Sam just talk a little bit about being a young
- 23:59Speaker 2: guy coming on to a team that is expected to
- 24:03Speaker 2: compete for Stanley Up year after year.
- 24:06Speaker 4: Uh.
- 24:06Speaker 2: You know, when I started in San Jose, it was
- 24:09Speaker 2: like I felt it was such a beneficial moment for
- 24:12Speaker 2: me to come into the NHL when I had a
- 24:14Speaker 2: team that was that was trying to make the Stanley
- 24:16Speaker 2: Cup finals every year. And and how has that helped
- 24:18Speaker 2: you as a player.
- 24:20Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean it's just it's exciting for me to
- 24:22Speaker 7: be able to be on a team that really does
- 24:25Speaker 7: contend for the Stanley Cup every year. I think it
- 24:29Speaker 7: kind of holds each of us to a different standard
- 24:32Speaker 7: and for me as a young young guy, kind of
- 24:34Speaker 7: throws me into the fire jumping into playoffs last year
- 24:38Speaker 7: and getting that whole experience and just wanted to keep building.
- 24:43Speaker 7: I guess with we only got one round in last year,
- 24:46Speaker 7: and I know I'm it's only my second year in
- 24:50Speaker 7: the league now, but I'd like to make a run here.
- 24:53Speaker 6: I'm excited for it certainly.
- 24:55Speaker 1: I mean, you have that confidence about you, which is important.
- 24:57Speaker 1: Every young player needs that you know when you look
- 25:01Speaker 1: at some of these players a year around, obviously same
- 25:03Speaker 1: your game speaks for itself, But what is it like
- 25:05Speaker 1: playing with the likes of McKinnon, mccarr and so much
- 25:07Speaker 1: other great talent around you.
- 25:09Speaker 6: It's pretty special.
- 25:10Speaker 7: Yeah, I think about that all the time, Like that
- 25:12Speaker 7: other guys when they first signed, they go to teams
- 25:15Speaker 7: where they maybe don't have players obviously like Nate and Kale,
- 25:19Speaker 7: like they're two of the best.
- 25:20Speaker 2: In the world, and teams that stink.
- 25:25Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean for.
- 25:28Speaker 7: Just to be able to play with those guys right away,
- 25:30Speaker 7: Like I just remember being in a bit of shock
- 25:33Speaker 7: my first training camp and they're just such great people too.
- 25:37Speaker 7: So like being able to be on the back end
- 25:41Speaker 7: with Kale and talk to him about some stuff that
- 25:45Speaker 7: he does in his game and his the way he
- 25:47Speaker 7: prepares and yeah, just everything about being around those guys
- 25:52Speaker 7: I think has helped me a ton.
- 25:54Speaker 2: You know, I heard John Michael Ales compared to Kill
- 25:58Speaker 2: mccarr recently. I initially when I watched you, you know,
- 26:01Speaker 2: ten to fifteen games, I kind of said, you have
- 26:03Speaker 2: a lot of the same movement, say body language is
- 26:05Speaker 2: Kale a lot of the Schames, A lot of the
- 26:08Speaker 2: same skill set, Like, how surreal is that to hear that?
- 26:11Speaker 2: And like, what have you learned? What's the greatest thing
- 26:13Speaker 2: you've learned from playing behind cal mccarr.
- 26:18Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, it's obviously pretty surreal hearing that. Like
- 26:23Speaker 7: I think it's for me in my head, I'm like, Okay,
- 26:26Speaker 7: that's probably just because we're about the same size, both
- 26:28Speaker 7: have white tape, both righties.
- 26:30Speaker 6: Like simple stuff like that.
- 26:32Speaker 7: But yeah, it's pretty cool to see, like people even
- 26:37Speaker 7: just saying that, And I know I'm a long ways
- 26:40Speaker 7: from Kale. He's obviously the best defenseman in the world
- 26:45Speaker 7: in my opinion, but yeah, just learning from him, like
- 26:48Speaker 7: watching what he does at the blue line, and he'll
- 26:51Speaker 7: grab me during practice and we'll just kind of take
- 26:56Speaker 7: turns walking the blue shooting through tires, and he teaches
- 27:01Speaker 7: me different stuff, whether it's looking through the tire at
- 27:04Speaker 7: the net as if it's a shot blocker and whatever,
- 27:06Speaker 7: and just helps you pick your corners a little easier.
- 27:09Speaker 6: So there's there's a.
- 27:11Speaker 7: Ton that I could say, and it's kind of hard
- 27:13Speaker 7: to pinpoint one thing that he specifically helped me on.
- 27:16Speaker 2: So explain that tire thing, just for the people listening.
- 27:19Speaker 2: Because I know, you know a lot of fans, you know,
- 27:23Speaker 2: wonder how do d man work on their shot? And
- 27:25Speaker 2: you know when I played, it was you know, you'd
- 27:27Speaker 2: shoot through a chair. We'd pull like a desk chair,
- 27:29Speaker 2: and you got to get it around and you also
- 27:30Speaker 2: have now you have tires of getting through. Explain just
- 27:32Speaker 2: that sequence of how you set that drill up and
- 27:36Speaker 2: how helpful it is for you to kind of pick
- 27:38Speaker 2: those shots when you're when you're you know, practicing and
- 27:41Speaker 2: then in a new game.
- 27:43Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, when you're practicing it, obviously nobody wants
- 27:46Speaker 7: to stand in front of you and pretend to be
- 27:48Speaker 7: a shot balker.
- 27:49Speaker 2: It's case to hit him.
- 27:50Speaker 7: So we stick a tire out there, and yeah, the
- 27:54Speaker 7: whole goal is to shoot through the tire and hit
- 27:56Speaker 7: the net, specifically if you can hit a corner, hit
- 28:00Speaker 7: a corner. And I think my habit as I always
- 28:04Speaker 7: look at the tire to make sure I'm not hitting
- 28:06Speaker 7: it or whatever, and Cale would always tell me, you know,
- 28:09Speaker 7: look at the net, and so that way you hit
- 28:12Speaker 7: to tire your corner and eventually you just naturally avoid
- 28:17Speaker 7: the tire with your peripheral vision. So yeah, that's pretty cool.
- 28:22Speaker 1: Interesting going to use all different tricks when it comes
- 28:24Speaker 1: to playing as good.
- 28:26Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, exactly, He's he's got that one. Mastered that drill,
- 28:30Speaker 6: So yeah, the tire drill.
- 28:32Speaker 1: You were part of a dominant Cornell team Sam twenty
- 28:35Speaker 1: nineteen twenty twenty top ranked team in the country, only
- 28:38Speaker 1: have COVID force the season to be canceled. How tough
- 28:41Speaker 1: was it to not get a chance to take your
- 28:43Speaker 1: team the Frozen four.
- 28:46Speaker 6: Yeah, that was really tough.
- 28:47Speaker 7: I mean it was I was a freshman and we
- 28:50Speaker 7: were just pretty dominant, and I didn't really I think
- 28:54Speaker 7: at the time, I didn't realize how special that group
- 28:56Speaker 7: really was. Like we were just running through teams like
- 29:01Speaker 7: no problem, and I was pretty unfortunate that we weren't
- 29:07Speaker 7: able to play that one out. I think we're all
- 29:10Speaker 7: looking at a chance to make a run there, and
- 29:14Speaker 7: then I guess going into the next season too. Not
- 29:17Speaker 7: being able to play that whole year was definitely a
- 29:19Speaker 7: little weird, but gave me some time to focus on
- 29:22Speaker 7: some different specific skills and my skating and put on
- 29:29Speaker 7: a little weight and muscle as well.
- 29:31Speaker 2: What was the toughest thing about that development wise for you?
- 29:37Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean it was just not playing games for
- 29:39Speaker 7: so long was really hard, and it was kind of
- 29:45Speaker 7: it was tough, like mentally, like I didn't know at
- 29:47Speaker 7: that point whether I didn't know what my future held,
- 29:51Speaker 7: you know, Like my freshman year I started to hear
- 29:53Speaker 7: that maybe I could end up playing pro and then
- 29:57Speaker 7: not playing a whole year, I was like, well, now
- 29:59Speaker 7: is that still going to be a thing, Like, so, yeah,
- 30:03Speaker 7: it's not like I felt I didn't feel great on
- 30:05Speaker 7: the ice that whole sophomore year just without playing games
- 30:08Speaker 7: and getting that experience. But yeah, I was still love
- 30:12Speaker 7: to work on different like shooting and just kind of
- 30:16Speaker 7: some of that basic stuff. But yeah, that whole COVID
- 30:19Speaker 7: situation was very weird.
- 30:21Speaker 1: Certainly was tough for everybody. The good news is not
- 30:23Speaker 1: only did you play at Cornell, but also playing in
- 30:26Speaker 1: the state of hockey. I mean playing in Minnesota State
- 30:29Speaker 1: High School Hockey Tournament with Lake build South High School
- 30:32Speaker 1: in twenty seventeen. It's the only place I can think of,
- 30:34Speaker 1: Sam if you ask somebody, hey, it's the only place
- 30:36Speaker 1: where high school hockey is the biggest thing. It's bigger
- 30:39Speaker 1: than North hockey, it's better than college but everything it's
- 30:42Speaker 1: high school high I guess maybe you could say football.
- 30:44Speaker 1: I guess high school football is so huge, a fada,
- 30:46Speaker 1: night lights and everything, but what is the experience, Like,
- 30:48Speaker 1: can you convey to somebody what that is like? High
- 30:50Speaker 1: school hockey?
- 30:52Speaker 7: Yeah, it's pretty incredible. I mean I didn't really realize
- 30:57Speaker 7: it at the time. Again, but like hearing now from
- 30:59Speaker 7: all my buddies who you know from Canada, they left
- 31:04Speaker 7: home sixteen to go play junior hockey, and for us
- 31:07Speaker 7: to be able to stay at home and play hockey
- 31:11Speaker 7: and go to school with you know, the people we
- 31:13Speaker 7: grew up with is pretty special.
- 31:14Speaker 6: And be able to live at home with your.
- 31:16Speaker 7: Family, and you know, that's something we all dreamed of too,
- 31:20Speaker 7: is playing in the Excel and be able to play
- 31:24Speaker 7: in the state tournament, a chance for the state championship.
- 31:29Speaker 7: And yeah, I guess we were able to finally make
- 31:32Speaker 7: that tournament my senior year, which worked out perfectly for us,
- 31:36Speaker 7: and I guess we ended up losing in the semi finals,
- 31:39Speaker 7: but still just such a cool memory to be able
- 31:42Speaker 7: to play in front of eighteen thousand people at that
- 31:45Speaker 7: rink and in front of all your friends and family.
- 31:48Speaker 2: Did did you watch your brother Jack when he took
- 31:50Speaker 2: him to the finals, and is there bragging rights in
- 31:53Speaker 2: the house a little bit because he got just a
- 31:55Speaker 2: touch further than you.
- 31:57Speaker 7: Yeah. No, I followed all of those pretty close to
- 32:00Speaker 7: He had some crazy matchups. One he lost in triple
- 32:04Speaker 7: over to so yeah, he did make it further than
- 32:07Speaker 7: me in that one. And he actually ended up winning
- 32:10Speaker 7: the state championship with his football team too. So he's
- 32:12Speaker 7: got I know, I got no rings.
- 32:20Speaker 1: I love it.
- 32:22Speaker 2: I mean, speaking of older brothers, you know, and and
- 32:25Speaker 2: I played with Brent Burns early in my career, and
- 32:30Speaker 2: you know, I considered him just an amazing specimen. You know,
- 32:34Speaker 2: not only to watch this guy day day by day
- 32:37Speaker 2: how he carries himself, but also just how big of
- 32:41Speaker 2: an absolute crazy individual caveman this guy is. Like I
- 32:46Speaker 2: know you've been just a little bit with Brent Burns,
- 32:48Speaker 2: but like, give me just a little bit of an
- 32:50Speaker 2: inside view of the things that I already know but
- 32:52Speaker 2: the fans don't know about about Brett Burns and how
- 32:55Speaker 2: crazy this son of a bitch is.
- 32:58Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, I think he explained it pretty good.
- 33:01Speaker 7: Like Burns, He's he's one of a kind. Like I
- 33:05Speaker 7: heard stories about him and with Jack Drewy being here
- 33:09Speaker 7: last year, he kind of told told me about him,
- 33:11Speaker 7: like sort of what to expect with him, and.
- 33:16Speaker 6: Yeah, he's just.
- 33:17Speaker 7: Like, first of all, he's just like the best person ever,
- 33:20Speaker 7: Like he's really good role model and so good for
- 33:24Speaker 7: our locker room, ton of fun to be around always.
- 33:27Speaker 7: And then he's got that side of him too where
- 33:29Speaker 7: he's like almost it almost reminds me of juniors, like
- 33:33Speaker 7: playing hockey back when we were eighteen nineteen. Some of
- 33:39Speaker 7: the stuff that he does, and you think, like, man,
- 33:41Speaker 7: this guy's forty, Like he's got.
- 33:42Speaker 6: He's going he's going home to his kids.
- 33:44Speaker 7: And then you see him like on FaceTime on the
- 33:46Speaker 7: plane with his with his kids, and he's in dad
- 33:49Speaker 7: mode and it's like this is not the same guy
- 33:51Speaker 7: who's just talking to but it's it's pretty funny.
- 33:54Speaker 6: He's all time.
- 33:55Speaker 2: What's what's the like, what's the craziest just wacky thing
- 33:58Speaker 2: that you could tell that's obviously within reason that that
- 34:01Speaker 2: birds he does like people would that you're just kind
- 34:04Speaker 2: of like because when I played with him, he had
- 34:07Speaker 2: like these like Yu gi oh toys on the plane
- 34:10Speaker 2: and he was eight years older than me at that
- 34:12Speaker 2: point and I was like this guy's like the handsome brother,
- 34:14Speaker 2: Like he's playing with his fucking toys right now. Like
- 34:17Speaker 2: this guy's like a Nora's Trophy defense and he's playing
- 34:20Speaker 2: with his toys. Like is there anything crazy you've seen
- 34:21Speaker 2: where you're like, wow, that's that's wild.
- 34:25Speaker 7: I mean there for sure is I can't think of
- 34:28Speaker 7: anything that's too crazy right now. But like just you
- 34:32Speaker 7: see him getting on the plane and he's got like
- 34:34Speaker 7: it'll be like a two day trip, Like I have
- 34:37Speaker 7: a duffel bag in my backpack, and then he has
- 34:40Speaker 7: two suitcases that could fit a person inside of them.
- 34:44Speaker 7: And then he's got his huge camel backpack on top
- 34:47Speaker 7: of that, and it's like, what do you possibly have
- 34:50Speaker 7: in there? Like it's pretty crazy, Like you really think
- 34:53Speaker 7: we haven't got the full show and tell ye out
- 34:56Speaker 7: of the backpack yet, But I know he's got like
- 35:00Speaker 7: I thought I heard like some switchblades in there. I
- 35:03Speaker 7: don't know he's got.
- 35:06Speaker 2: And it's like and then it's like this backpack it's
- 35:09Speaker 2: like folklore, like you don't know, no one knows truly
- 35:12Speaker 2: what's in it.
- 35:13Speaker 1: It's like seeing some things.
- 35:15Speaker 2: It's seen some things.
- 35:16Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, it looks heavy, I know that.
- 35:21Speaker 1: I can only imagine what's in the back. Play that
- 35:22Speaker 1: game with Brent Burns next time. Trying to guess you
- 35:25Speaker 1: mentioned McKinnon earlier a little bit, Sam, He's an absolute
- 35:28Speaker 1: monch from when it comes to fitness and nutrition as
- 35:30Speaker 1: a guy who likes an occasional chocolate bar, Like, how
- 35:32Speaker 1: much does he chastise you if you if he sees
- 35:35Speaker 1: somebody have a little junk food?
- 35:37Speaker 7: Yeah, no, he he for sure does. I mean I
- 35:42Speaker 7: found that out pretty quickly my first year.
- 35:45Speaker 6: Oh yeah, being the young guy.
- 35:47Speaker 7: Yeah, I think I think any young guy coming to
- 35:50Speaker 7: the team sort of finds that out quickly. But just
- 35:54Speaker 7: like I would always eat peanut butter and jelly before
- 35:58Speaker 7: the games and just a quick sandwich. And he told
- 36:03Speaker 7: me pretty quickly that he did like that very much,
- 36:07Speaker 7: so so he cleaned up my diet pretty good. And
- 36:13Speaker 7: you know, like looking back now, it's like if I
- 36:15Speaker 7: do feel a lot better just with.
- 36:18Speaker 6: The way I eat.
- 36:18Speaker 7: And I mean I watched the way like he treats
- 36:22Speaker 7: himself as far as saunas and cold tubs and taking
- 36:26Speaker 7: care of his body too, And I think it definitely
- 36:28Speaker 7: makes a difference.
- 36:29Speaker 1: I know it's a tough spot to be in samy
- 36:31Speaker 1: shit said, listen a minute. It worked for almost. Come on,
- 36:33Speaker 1: a little peanut butter and jelly.
- 36:34Speaker 2: Let's go.
- 36:35Speaker 7: Yeah, exactly, don't even don't even think about cookies or
- 36:38Speaker 7: anything like that.
- 36:40Speaker 2: What's the what's like your your pregame meal that you
- 36:43Speaker 2: were having? Did he make Did you kind of change
- 36:45Speaker 2: your pregame meal from when you came into the league
- 36:47Speaker 2: since being with Nate, like anything specific that changed, like
- 36:50Speaker 2: going from fish to steak or pasta or rice or
- 36:53Speaker 2: something like that.
- 36:55Speaker 7: You know what I he did. He didn't like that
- 36:58Speaker 7: that I ate pasta. He always does sweet potatoes, and
- 37:03Speaker 7: so I switched to that for a little bit.
- 37:08Speaker 6: And honestly, I think this is probably a mental thing
- 37:10Speaker 6: for me.
- 37:11Speaker 7: But last year I started not I wasn't playing very well,
- 37:13Speaker 7: and so I went back to my pasta and then
- 37:15Speaker 7: I started playing good again and said, no, I'm just
- 37:18Speaker 7: kind of enrolling with that and telling myself, you know,
- 37:20Speaker 7: everybody's different, like you need to do what works for you.
- 37:24Speaker 2: So, hey, Nate, take a step back. I got this.
- 37:28Speaker 2: I'm going pasta.
- 37:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:30Speaker 7: Now that it's my second year, he leaves me alone
- 37:32Speaker 7: a little more and lets me do it.
- 37:33Speaker 4: That's gonnay.
- 37:34Speaker 1: Sound like it's peanut M and M's here at midnight
- 37:36Speaker 1: like a pasta. It's okay. You know you got some
- 37:37Speaker 1: good coaches in.
- 37:38Speaker 2: There, right.
- 37:39Speaker 1: I want your head coach likes to Jared Bedna, one
- 37:41Speaker 1: of the coolest guys, especially with that salad. Can you
- 37:43Speaker 1: confirm Sam, like, how much head and shoulders is he
- 37:45Speaker 1: putting in that hair?
- 37:47Speaker 7: I gotta think a good amount. It sure seems like
- 37:50Speaker 7: he's got it, got a good head of hair.
- 37:51Speaker 6: For his age.
- 37:55Speaker 2: I want to know one thing. So when I was
- 37:57Speaker 2: in San Jose to start, I had a video coach
- 38:00Speaker 2: named Brett Heimlich and I think he might be stowing car.
- 38:04Speaker 2: He's around there. How greats Brett? And you got any
- 38:09Speaker 2: funny Brett stories for the fans at home? Because he
- 38:11Speaker 2: was He's one of Joe Thornton's like favorite guys, and
- 38:15Speaker 2: Burnsey for a little bit as well in San Jose.
- 38:18Speaker 6: Yeah, No, Brett's here, He's great.
- 38:21Speaker 7: I think you'd probably want to bring on one of
- 38:23Speaker 7: our equipment guys to get a good story from him.
- 38:26Speaker 7: They got to have some good stories from going out
- 38:28Speaker 7: in Nashville and wherever that over else they've they've had
- 38:32Speaker 7: some good times. But yeah, I know, Brett's great. He's
- 38:36Speaker 7: great to have her in the locker room and a
- 38:37Speaker 7: ton of fun.
- 38:39Speaker 2: Jumbo gave him the nickname Clitti and geez he used
- 38:44Speaker 2: to call he used to call him the clit Brett
- 38:47Speaker 2: high like the best best nickname of all time for
- 38:50Speaker 2: a video coach. Unbelievable him next time you see him,
- 38:55Speaker 2: to say, hey Clitty, see what he says. He's going
- 38:58Speaker 2: lab to jumpo Oh.
- 39:02Speaker 1: I don't feel like a list gut any nicknames, but
- 39:04Speaker 1: when it comes to the owner, the Cronkies also owned
- 39:07Speaker 1: two other exciting teams right now, Sam and the Nuggets
- 39:09Speaker 1: and the Rams. Have you been able to enjoy any
- 39:11Speaker 1: of the perks associated with either of those teams. You're
- 39:14Speaker 1: busy right now playing, but maybe some swag or maybe
- 39:17Speaker 1: beating some of those players.
- 39:19Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, we got a really cool experience right
- 39:23Speaker 7: before the season started. We played preseason game I think
- 39:26Speaker 7: it was in Vegas, and right after we just flew
- 39:31Speaker 7: over to LA and we got to go like on
- 39:34Speaker 7: the field and watch the Rams nice do their warm
- 39:38Speaker 7: ups and watch the game from the suite and they
- 39:41Speaker 7: kind of decked us out with some hats and some
- 39:44Speaker 7: custom jerseys. So that was a really cool experience and
- 39:48Speaker 7: I don't think any of us realized what we were
- 39:50Speaker 7: getting there, but it was.
- 39:51Speaker 6: It was pretty sick.
- 39:53Speaker 2: Yeah, just like talk about the you know, Colorado being
- 39:57Speaker 2: a hockey destination, I feel like now and you know,
- 40:01Speaker 2: when I started, it wasn't necessarily like a place where
- 40:03Speaker 2: guys were pining for, but now it's just it's such
- 40:05Speaker 2: an amazing city and atmosphere. Just talk a little bit
- 40:07Speaker 2: about the arena and just the atmosphere and being in
- 40:11Speaker 2: those playoff games in Colorado.
- 40:15Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean it's a pretty cool rink, really good fans,
- 40:19Speaker 7: great atmosphere, and as far as playoffs, like, I think
- 40:24Speaker 7: back to my first playoff game last year and I
- 40:27Speaker 7: knew it was gonna be nuts, but I came out
- 40:29Speaker 7: from the tunnel and it was like nothing I've ever
- 40:31Speaker 7: seen before.
- 40:32Speaker 4: Heard.
- 40:34Speaker 7: Pretty incredible experience there, And I think part of the
- 40:39Speaker 7: reason everyone wants to come here is just like the
- 40:41Speaker 7: culture that we built and being on a winning team
- 40:44Speaker 7: and a true Stanley Cup contender, I think is what
- 40:48Speaker 7: people definitely look for. And on top of that, I
- 40:51Speaker 7: think Denver is just a great place to live too, Like, yeah,
- 40:55Speaker 7: it's like sunny almost every day. The winters are very
- 40:59Speaker 7: mild in my opinion, being from Minnesota.
- 41:02Speaker 2: Were you I just want to but your your first
- 41:05Speaker 2: playoffs was was your first game? Was Landeskog in that
- 41:10Speaker 2: game where he'd already played a game Landy? Was that
- 41:12Speaker 2: your first game as well? In the playoffs?
- 41:14Speaker 7: That was my first playoff game too, Which made it
- 41:16Speaker 7: even crazier.
- 41:17Speaker 2: To take us through that, man, because like I was
- 41:20Speaker 2: just thinking of that because I remember watching that game,
- 41:23Speaker 2: and I remember during the game, They're like, it was
- 41:24Speaker 2: your first playoff game as well, Like talk about that,
- 41:27Speaker 2: because that is just that is incredible, Like I played
- 41:30Speaker 2: against Landy, uh followed his story. Just take us through
- 41:36Speaker 2: that whole day, the whole you know, the whole week
- 41:38Speaker 2: leading up to it, you learning you're going to play,
- 41:41Speaker 2: and then being in that situation there.
- 41:44Speaker 6: Yeah, it was unbelievable.
- 41:45Speaker 7: I mean, like like I said, coming out from warm ups,
- 41:49Speaker 7: like they were the whole crowd is chanting his name
- 41:51Speaker 7: the entire warm ups and I'm sitting there like trying
- 41:54Speaker 7: to get ready and get rid of the nerves, and
- 41:56Speaker 7: it was just like the coolest, the coolest warm ups
- 42:00Speaker 7: I've ever been a part of Without a Doubt and
- 42:02Speaker 7: then just the game on top of that was pretty special.
- 42:06Speaker 6: But just seeing like everything Landy was able.
- 42:10Speaker 7: To overcome and get to where he's at now, where
- 42:13Speaker 7: he's a he's back in the lineup regularly and just incredible.
- 42:18Speaker 7: Like Landy's he's like the ultimate leader, Like he just
- 42:22Speaker 7: seems like the you know, the best person. He's been
- 42:26Speaker 7: so good for our room this year, Like he's just
- 42:29Speaker 7: brings such a calling and fun.
- 42:32Speaker 6: To our locker room.
- 42:33Speaker 2: Yeah, Like when you have those guys like and you'll
- 42:38Speaker 2: you'll feel it as you get longer in the league
- 42:41Speaker 2: because you get a long career ahead of you. But
- 42:42Speaker 2: just like those guys that are able to it's it's
- 42:45Speaker 2: like unexplainable, but they just calm down the room of
- 42:47Speaker 2: the bench when they're in there, you just know they're there,
- 42:49Speaker 2: and it's just such a nice feeling to have as
- 42:51Speaker 2: a player.
- 42:53Speaker 7: Yeah, and he just like whenever he talks, like you know,
- 42:56Speaker 7: he's got something good to say, it's always purposeful.
- 42:59Speaker 6: And Yeah, Landy's just he's the best.
- 43:04Speaker 3: Sam you mentioned going to Sofi to see the Rams
- 43:06Speaker 3: game before the season started and getting decked out in
- 43:09Speaker 3: the gear some of the guys had to make a
- 43:11Speaker 3: bit of a statement to the media when you got
- 43:13Speaker 3: back to Broncos Nation after that, can you test a
- 43:16Speaker 3: little bit like were you feeling a little bit of
- 43:18Speaker 3: the heat.
- 43:18Speaker 1: From the locals when you got back from so far?
- 43:21Speaker 7: You know, I did not even think about that being
- 43:25Speaker 7: an issue, and then my one of my friends texted
- 43:28Speaker 7: me about it, saying all the Avs fans weren't too
- 43:32Speaker 7: happy about it, and the Broncos fans. But then I
- 43:36Speaker 7: started to think about it a little more and I
- 43:38Speaker 7: was like, actually, if the Broncos went to a Dallas
- 43:43Speaker 7: Stars game and they all had Dallas Stars jerseys on,
- 43:46Speaker 7: I'd be like, what the heck, Like it's a little
- 43:48Speaker 7: it's a little messed up, but like, yeah, no, Luckily
- 43:52Speaker 7: I didn't have to do any any media with that
- 43:54Speaker 7: ans or anything.
- 43:56Speaker 2: Sam, you just tell him, I go where the owner
- 43:58Speaker 2: pays my checks. And he told me that we're going
- 44:00Speaker 2: to Sofi. I'm going to a goddamn Sofi game.
- 44:03Speaker 6: That's exact out.
- 44:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 44:05Speaker 7: Yeah, they offer you that experience and some jerseys, like
- 44:07Speaker 7: you're not going to turn that down.
- 44:10Speaker 3: Right, And we've spoken, you know, we spoke with some
- 44:12Speaker 3: guys who were high draft picks, first round picks, second
- 44:15Speaker 3: round picks, and told us about the pressure of being
- 44:18Speaker 3: a prospect getting picked time in the draft. But we
- 44:21Speaker 3: haven't talked to too many guys about what the pressure
- 44:23Speaker 3: is like as an undrafted free agent coming out of college.
- 44:26Speaker 3: You know, what was it like for you losing part
- 44:28Speaker 3: of your you know, collegiate career to COVID and then
- 44:31Speaker 3: coming out from Cornell wondering if you'll get an offer,
- 44:35Speaker 3: where where you'll get an offer?
- 44:36Speaker 2: What was that like for you personally?
- 44:38Speaker 3: And what was it like to then get a call saying, hey,
- 44:40Speaker 3: we have an offer from one of the best teams
- 44:42Speaker 3: in the league for you.
- 44:44Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean for me, I feel like I was
- 44:47Speaker 7: pretty good about just taking everything one day at a time,
- 44:52Speaker 7: Like I held myself myself to a very high standard
- 44:55Speaker 7: and wanted to play a certain way. But like I wasn't.
- 44:59Speaker 7: I never got ahead of myself. I never really thought
- 45:03Speaker 7: I would play in the NHL. Like I was when
- 45:05Speaker 7: I was in juniors. I was just trying to make college.
- 45:08Speaker 7: And then once I got to college, I was like, Okay,
- 45:11Speaker 7: I just got to make the lineup here, and then
- 45:13Speaker 7: I gotta get better, and then NHL started to get
- 45:17Speaker 7: a little bit in my head, and then signing with Colorado,
- 45:20Speaker 7: I still wasn't positive. I didn't know how long it
- 45:24Speaker 7: would take me to get up up to the Avalanche.
- 45:27Speaker 7: But I was just kind of like, hey, I'll start
- 45:29Speaker 7: with the Eagles and do my thing there and just
- 45:31Speaker 7: build confidence and just kind of slowly climbed the ladder.
- 45:35Speaker 2: I guess what was there a moment that you kind
- 45:39Speaker 2: of realize this is the path for me? Because I
- 45:42Speaker 2: had a similar you know, I got drafted when I
- 45:44Speaker 2: was twenty, and I was kind of in junior being like, listen,
- 45:48Speaker 2: I'm just gonna you know, I'm just gonna go play
- 45:50Speaker 2: college and that's it for me. Was there a game
- 45:53Speaker 2: or a moment where you were like, oh, wow, I
- 45:54Speaker 2: think I could make this work.
- 45:59Speaker 7: I mean, it's kind of hard to say, Like there
- 46:03Speaker 7: is moments probably along the way, Like I think my
- 46:07Speaker 7: junior year of college I started to that was kind
- 46:12Speaker 7: of my breakout year, I guess, And actually freshman year,
- 46:16Speaker 7: I remember my agent brought up that a few NHL
- 46:19Speaker 7: teams were asking about me, and I was like shocked
- 46:22Speaker 7: by that.
- 46:22Speaker 2: I was like, sometimes that's enough.
- 46:24Speaker 7: Confidence wise, Yeah, it was, That's when I really started thinking.
- 46:28Speaker 7: I was like, Okay, so that can now be my goal.
- 46:31Speaker 7: I guess if they are actually interested. And then my
- 46:36Speaker 7: senior year, I just felt like I had a month
- 46:39Speaker 7: I think it was February or something where I really
- 46:42Speaker 7: started to dominate and take my game to the next level.
- 46:46Speaker 7: And so I think that's sort of when my confidence
- 46:48Speaker 7: really took off.
- 46:50Speaker 1: Well, it's a great story. Hopeing you continue to dominate
- 46:53Speaker 1: this year with the Colorado Will you will you will,
- 46:56Speaker 1: We believe in you, SA NHL script gift and go
- 46:59Speaker 1: Big Red. Great stories there from Cornell. Obviously she still
- 47:02Speaker 1: had a great time there and best of luck. We
- 47:04Speaker 1: appreciate this was fun.
- 47:06Speaker 6: Yeah, a ton of fun. Thanks for having me on, guys,
- 47:08Speaker 6: appreciate it.
- 47:17Speaker 1: Thank you once again to Sam Lensky. Great stuff there. Meantime,
- 47:19Speaker 1: cinephil and sixty buzzy new film from your ghost Lanthemos.
- 47:23Speaker 1: That's right, the bad boy of cinema. The Greeks around
- 47:25Speaker 1: it again JD. His new film is called Bagonia, starring
- 47:27Speaker 1: Emmastone and Jesse Plemons. And listen, he's a guy polarizing
- 47:32Speaker 1: with his film. There's no question about it. I thought
- 47:34Speaker 1: the favorite was obviously a very good movie. He loves
- 47:37Speaker 1: work with Emmastone. She basically said she'll work with them,
- 47:39Speaker 1: you know, the rest of her life. Anytime that there's
- 47:40Speaker 1: a project available, she'll work with Lanthemos. Butgoni is a
- 47:43Speaker 1: very odd film. I't know if you ever saw Death
- 47:45Speaker 1: in the Maiden Ben Kingsley movie, but it's about Guty
- 47:48Speaker 1: Jesse Plemons essentially is taking revenge on Emma Stone. She's
- 47:51Speaker 1: almost like a stand in if you said it, like
- 47:53Speaker 1: these pharmaceutical companies and like you know, big farmer that's
- 47:56Speaker 1: so to speak. So essentially he captures her and I'm
- 47:59Speaker 1: not saything else about that, but things get a little dark.
- 48:01Speaker 1: There's some torture here, uh Emiston. If you've seen The
- 48:04Speaker 1: Shaved Head, I mean, this is a port of humanity
- 48:07Speaker 1: at its worst. And one thing about Lanthemos is he
- 48:09Speaker 1: does not really show humanity in the best of light.
- 48:11Speaker 1: Like this movie may or may not be about aliens,
- 48:14Speaker 1: but it's definitely about alienation and how it feels right
- 48:16Speaker 1: now the average person against all these corporate heads. And
- 48:19Speaker 1: I can just imagine being in a movie theater again.
- 48:21Speaker 1: I watched it on my phone, being people like screaming
- 48:24Speaker 1: and cheering at the TV. You see what's happening. It's
- 48:26Speaker 1: another dark movie. Again. I liked it, But this guy man,
- 48:30Speaker 1: he puts you through the ringer. That's all I gotta
- 48:32Speaker 1: say about. But Gonia, are you gonna see it any interest?
- 48:36Speaker 2: Calling in the mothership? Calling in the mothership? He's really.
- 48:44Speaker 4: No. No.
- 48:44Speaker 2: But that's isn't that? That's like a scene in the movie.
- 48:47Speaker 2: He this, This director really likes Jesse Pleman's and Emma
- 48:51Speaker 2: Stone together. Right, they've done a couple movies together. Now
- 48:54Speaker 2: go ahead, ta That's all I got.
- 48:57Speaker 3: I was just gonna say, I'm a fan of Emma
- 48:59Speaker 3: Stone and Yrgos.
- 49:01Speaker 2: Is this a Greek thing?
- 49:02Speaker 3: Is like the morbid darkness is out of Greek trait
- 49:06Speaker 3: because uh kinds of kindness and.
- 49:09Speaker 1: Yes, poor things obviously poor things.
- 49:11Speaker 2: I agree. The Greeks are dark, little bleak, the bleak Greek.
- 49:15Speaker 1: I mean the bleak dark movie. Colin Farrell in that
- 49:18Speaker 1: opening scene of The Lobster, they asked him are you
- 49:20Speaker 1: are you heterosexual or homosexual? And he goes, well, a
- 49:23Speaker 1: little bit of both. They go, well, we've we've changed
- 49:25Speaker 1: that answer. That's to be the one or the other.
- 49:27Speaker 1: And he gives his twenty second part and eventually he's like,
- 49:31Speaker 1: I guess I would have to say heterosexual, but but
- 49:33Speaker 1: he doesn't say it convincingly. Later on, John c Riley
- 49:36Speaker 1: gets his hand put in a toaster for masturbating. I
- 49:39Speaker 1: was like, what the It is dark stuff these Greeks, man,
- 49:43Speaker 1: but poor things in the favorite both greade. I don't
- 49:45Speaker 1: think PAGONI was as good, but it was definitely dark
- 49:47Speaker 1: and definitely entertaining. Let's talk about yak Abdobus j D
- 49:50Speaker 1: top rookie going the NHL so far, which is why
- 49:52Speaker 1: I was shocked when I saw what he said after
- 49:54Speaker 1: Montreal lost four to three and overtime to New Jersey,
- 49:57Speaker 1: his record of six oh one. And you look at
- 49:59Speaker 1: these numbers at Montembeau's say percentage is like eight sixty
- 50:02Speaker 1: to use a Jason de Burr's comment, dog water, Dobish
- 50:05Speaker 1: is like nine to twenty. I'm sure both of you
- 50:07Speaker 1: guys know, And LaBelle Provence you're like, hey, it's Dobish,
- 50:09Speaker 1: like for the Vesident, like forget about mont too, it's
- 50:11Speaker 1: a terrible contract. It happens, let's move on. But Dobish
- 50:14Speaker 1: visibly upset, like emotionally shedding tears, saying it's on him.
- 50:18Speaker 6: Ah, it just sucks.
- 50:20Speaker 4: But you know last year that you no, no, just.
- 50:29Speaker 1: It happened last year, it happened this year, you know.
- 50:32Speaker 5: Loose through those guys in ot So just disappointment in
- 50:36Speaker 5: myself just pretty much it.
- 50:38Speaker 1: What did you make of the emotion? I was struck
- 50:39Speaker 1: by just how passionate he was over loss, considering how
- 50:42Speaker 1: good he's been.
- 50:44Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, I dealt with a lot of performance
- 50:46Speaker 2: anxiety when I played in a lot of stress and
- 50:49Speaker 2: ups and downs, and you know, seeing guys that are
- 50:51Speaker 2: vulnerable like this is always for me always strikes a chord. So,
- 50:55Speaker 2: you know, seeing him and as much as I want
- 50:58Speaker 2: to kind of give him a hug and be like
- 51:00Speaker 2: if I was his teammate, be like, just take a breath,
- 51:02Speaker 2: like you're it's okay, it's one game, you'll be fine,
- 51:05Speaker 2: but understanding that, like these kids take this seriously, and
- 51:10Speaker 2: these players take it seriously, and it's life for death,
- 51:12Speaker 2: life for death at times, and we forget about that,
- 51:15Speaker 2: and you know, you take out the money and these
- 51:18Speaker 2: people that are just and kids that are competing to
- 51:21Speaker 2: be the best, and sometimes that emotionality gets the best
- 51:25Speaker 2: of you. And I think dobeesh, you know, if I
- 51:28Speaker 2: were to sit with him, I just tell them, just listen,
- 51:31Speaker 2: it's it's one game. You're gonna be fine. Just bounce back.
- 51:34Speaker 2: But to see him kind of release all of that
- 51:37Speaker 2: after the game was kind of, you know, just a
- 51:39Speaker 2: little bit of a magnifying glass onto what professional sports
- 51:44Speaker 2: can be at times for some of these players. And
- 51:46Speaker 2: you know, I know people will listen to Scoff and
- 51:48Speaker 2: I'd be like, Yeah, you're making the money and you're
- 51:49Speaker 2: fine and this and that, but you know, you make
- 51:52Speaker 2: the money for such a short amount of time and
- 51:54Speaker 2: then you have to live the rest of your life,
- 51:55Speaker 2: and you're not kind of taught how to be a
- 51:59Speaker 2: human other than just being a professional athlete. So I
- 52:02Speaker 2: think for a guy like Dobish, who's probably put everything
- 52:06Speaker 2: he's had into becoming a professional athlete, it's kind of
- 52:09Speaker 2: one of those things. Every loss feels that much worse
- 52:12Speaker 2: and that much deeper. And and I appreciated his vulnerability,
- 52:17Speaker 2: and I hope he's all right, and I hope that
- 52:19Speaker 2: somebody grabbed him after and gave him a big hug
- 52:21Speaker 2: and just said, hey, it's all good, and we got
- 52:25Speaker 2: you in next game, we're going to win it and
- 52:28Speaker 2: forget about it. Because he lost the game and still
- 52:30Speaker 2: got a point, so he stays' loss in regulation. But
- 52:34Speaker 2: I just think for him, it's it's going to be
- 52:37Speaker 2: really just bouncing back and just just keep playing your game.
- 52:40Speaker 2: That's it.
- 52:42Speaker 1: Yeah, there's no doubt about it. And he's been playing
- 52:44Speaker 1: a game at a high level right now. It's the
- 52:45Speaker 1: Montreal Kayanes. Fans appreciate his passion, appreciate what he's doing.
- 52:48Speaker 1: Let's close things off the not and Nathan McKinney you
- 52:50Speaker 1: mentioned earlier, JD with a run he's been on. As
- 52:52Speaker 1: of Wednesday, the league MVP now leads the league in goals, assists,
- 52:55Speaker 1: and points. Four goals in twelve points over his last
- 52:58Speaker 1: three games. He's actually never won the Rocket Shard or
- 53:02Speaker 1: the art Ross, so never said the most goals, never
- 53:04Speaker 1: said the most points. And the last player not named
- 53:07Speaker 1: Kuchioff who you always have stumped for is being underrated
- 53:11Speaker 1: McDavid or Drysolo. When the art Ross was twenty sixteen,
- 53:14Speaker 1: Crazy Patrick came was with Chicago. Is this the year
- 53:18Speaker 1: Nate Dogg gets the Rocket restored or the art Ross
- 53:20Speaker 1: trophies and now officially becomes the best player in the world.
- 53:25Speaker 2: Yeah, he's been up there for a while now. I
- 53:27Speaker 2: just think he's a he's a fucking horse man. That
- 53:30Speaker 2: guy is just a he's a minuteta minuta that is.
- 53:37Speaker 2: That is Nathan McKinnon for you. He is just a dog. Great.
- 53:40Speaker 2: He is half horse, half man, horse cocking it all
- 53:45Speaker 2: over the place. Nathan McKinnon. Uh, yeah, I just think
- 53:50Speaker 2: I thought Kutchirov was robbed the last few years. But
- 53:53Speaker 2: Kutcharov hasn't really performed to the level that we thought.
- 53:55Speaker 2: But Nathan McKinnon, Man, give it to him, all right now?
- 53:59Speaker 2: Early first, what is it? Fifteen games of the season. Yeah,
- 54:03Speaker 2: normally I think what do we call this? You get
- 54:07Speaker 2: let's not Yeah, let's not give a quarter mark like
- 54:09Speaker 2: you're you're trying to horn me up too early. Let's wait,
- 54:12Speaker 2: let's wait, let's just wait. Wait five games and then
- 54:15Speaker 2: we can do you know, in the next three weeks,
- 54:19Speaker 2: and we don't have a contract, and we'll be doing
- 54:21Speaker 2: this show and I'll be I'll be my boxer's no
- 54:24Speaker 2: shirt on with Cheetah's coming down my chest. God, and
- 54:27Speaker 2: I tell you what, we'll talk about we'll talk about
- 54:29Speaker 2: Nathan McKinnon.
- 54:30Speaker 1: Then thirty two points in seventeen games. You know, right
- 54:33Speaker 1: the scott teams most teams have played around fifteen sixteen
- 54:36Speaker 1: seventy that's fourteen goals. Is particularly eye opening in today's game.
- 54:40Speaker 1: I mean, this guy is just just on a run
- 54:41Speaker 1: right now?
- 54:42Speaker 2: Am I wrong?
- 54:43Speaker 1: No?
- 54:43Speaker 2: Am I wrong?
- 54:44Speaker 1: Well that's right, Bob Bender likes me doing am I wrong? Segment?
- 54:46Speaker 1: So there's your am I wrong?
- 54:48Speaker 2: You don't want if we can get a sponsorship for
- 54:51Speaker 2: we could do it, but not allowed effort. Am I wrong?
- 54:54Speaker 1: Well you're not wrong on that. They're definitely not wrong
- 54:57Speaker 1: on that. We're efforting as we speak. Thanks once again
