- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Spanish with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Episode 168! Can you believe it? Lucas: I know, right? We've covered so much park vocabulary. Today we're revisiting the climbing frame. Luna: Oh, the climbing frame! Last time we learned 'la estructura de escalada' and 'subir la estructura'. Lucas: Exactly. And we had some great phrases like 'ten cuidado' and 'es muy alto'. Today we'll add two more: 'tengo miedo' and 'tú puedes'. Luna: Tengo miedo... That sounds like 'I am scared' or 'I am afraid'. Lucas: Exactly right. 'Tengo miedo' means 'I am scared'. Let's say it together: tengo miedo. Luna: Tengo miedo. Lucas: Good. Now if someone is scared, you can encourage them by saying 'tú puedes' — 'you can do it'. Luna: Tú puedes. That's nice. 'You can do it'. Lucas: Yes. So imagine a child at the top of the climbing frame, feeling nervous. They say 'tengo miedo'. And you respond 'tú puedes'. Luna: That's a sweet scene. Let me try: tengo miedo. Lucas: Perfect. And I say: tú puedes. Luna: Okay, let's do a quick role play. I'll be the scared kid. Lucas: Great. So Luna, you're at the top of the climbing frame. Luna: Tengo miedo. Es muy alto. Lucas: Tú puedes, Luna. Baja con cuidado. Luna: Ah, so we also have 'bajar' — to go down. And 'con cuidado' — carefully. Lucas: Right. 'Bajar' is a useful verb. Let's practice: subir y bajar. To go up and to go down. Luna: Subir y bajar. Up and down. Lucas: And remember 'es muy alto' — it's very high. So if you're scared, you can say 'tengo miedo, es muy alto'. Luna: Tengo miedo, es muy alto. Great phrase. Lucas: Let's repeat all the phrases we have today: tengo miedo, tú puedes, es muy alto, subir, bajar. Luna: Tengo miedo. Lucas: Tú puedes. Luna: Es muy alto. Lucas: Subir. Luna: Bajar. Lucas: Excellent! Now let's try a short dialogue. Luna, you're at the park with your little sister. Luna: Okay. Hermana, ¿quieres subir a la estructura de escalada? Lucas: And your sister says: Tengo miedo. Es muy alto. Luna: Tú puedes. Yo te ayudo. Lucas: Nice! 'Yo te ayudo' — that's new, but good. So you encourage her. Luna: And then she goes up slowly. Sube con cuidado. Lucas: Exactly. And when she gets to the top, she feels proud. Luna: Lo logré. Lucas: Perfect. That's a great natural conversation. Let's recap today's target phrases one more time. Luna: Sure! Tengo miedo, tú puedes, es muy alto, subir, bajar. Lucas: You got it. Your friend is scared to go up. Luna: I'll say: No tengas miedo. Tú puedes. Lucas: Great use of 'No tengas miedo' — 'Don't be scared'. That's a bonus phrase. Luna: Oh, nice. No tengas miedo. Don't be scared. Lucas: Practice that too. So today we learned how to express fear and encouragement in Spanish. Luna: And we practiced subir and bajar. It's all about the climbing frame. Lucas: Perfect. Keep practicing these phrases. Repeat them when you're at a playground. Luna: Or even just imagining it. Thanks for joining us!
