- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome to Dirty Rush, The Truth about Sorority Life with
- 0:04Speaker 1: your hosts me Gia Judice.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Daisy Kent, and Jennifer Kessler.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Okay, you guys, we're back with another episode of Dirty Rush.
- 0:15Speaker 1: I'm Daisy Kent, your host, and we have another episode
- 0:19Speaker 1: today with the Trista and Megan and we're going to
- 0:22Speaker 1: be diving more into all the controversial advice about recruitment
- 0:27Speaker 1: and going through rush. So let's jump into the next one. So,
- 0:30Speaker 1: Sorority Solutions introduces the idea that of the ninety nine
- 0:34Speaker 1: percent rule, which simply means that it's most important to
- 0:37Speaker 1: have an answer that differs from what ninety nine percent
- 0:40Speaker 1: of other people are going to say.
- 0:41Speaker 3: Something that is memorable.
- 0:43Speaker 1: How do you balance being unique but not coming off
- 0:46Speaker 1: as unrelatable. I feel like that's like same with like
- 0:49Speaker 1: job interviews and stuff like you always want to be
- 0:52Speaker 1: like the person that stands out and says something like.
- 0:55Speaker 3: Ninety nine percent rules. That caught my attention when I
- 0:58Speaker 3: read that quote. I'm like, ninety it's not eighty twenty.
- 1:02Speaker 3: I can work with that, like, right, nine Truly, that's
- 1:07Speaker 3: a lot of trash.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Right, you're you're right.
- 1:09Speaker 4: I think I'm unique, but not that unique?
- 1:15Speaker 3: So true?
- 1:16Speaker 2: And do I really want to be that unique because
- 1:18Speaker 2: I actually want to fit in with all of these?
- 1:20Speaker 5: True?
- 1:20Speaker 3: Right, that's true? I think like I don't. I think
- 1:24Speaker 3: just connecting with with the individual is more important than
- 1:29Speaker 3: making yourself a special Like whenever I think I think
- 1:33Speaker 3: about who do I like personally? Who do I enjoy
- 1:37Speaker 3: spending time with? It always comes down to the people
- 1:40Speaker 3: who talk about me.
- 1:43Speaker 5: If you talk if they're curious about me, I'm like, oh, I.
- 1:47Speaker 3: Like them, so yeah, So we can apply that, I mean,
- 1:52Speaker 3: we can manipulate that and use it to our advantage
- 1:55Speaker 3: and asked.
- 1:56Speaker 2: About totally, Well, that's what that first question about. Like
- 2:00Speaker 2: eye contact, I feel like just showing it in an
- 2:02Speaker 2: interest in them is so true. Like that goes so far.
- 2:07Speaker 2: You're really wanting to make sure that you leave an impression.
- 2:12Speaker 2: And what better impression is there than making someone feel happy,
- 2:16Speaker 2: like or thankful or thankful that they said that.
- 2:19Speaker 3: Remember you exactly the thing that they told you, and
- 2:23Speaker 3: ask them about it later. That's how you'll be remembered.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Yeah. Also, I think another great piece of advice and
- 2:29Speaker 2: also life advice as well, is complimenting people like how
- 2:33Speaker 2: easy is a compliment. It doesn't have to be anything
- 2:37Speaker 2: serious or whatever other than like, I love your shirt,
- 2:42Speaker 2: where did you get that?
- 2:43Speaker 3: Or whatever?
- 2:44Speaker 2: It doesn't matter. But if you compliment someone and you
- 2:48Speaker 2: are sincere because you don't want to come across as
- 2:51Speaker 2: you're making it up obviously, Yeah, but think of something
- 2:55Speaker 2: that you can compliment them on and that always leaves
- 2:58Speaker 2: an impression.
- 2:59Speaker 5: I feel like and it makes me feel good in
- 3:01Speaker 5: the process.
- 3:02Speaker 3: Yeah, oh for sure.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Is there anything that happened, like, do you guys remember
- 3:07Speaker 1: when you were on the other side of rush, like
- 3:10Speaker 1: recruiting girls. Was there anything that made you drop a
- 3:13Speaker 1: girl like immediately?
- 3:15Speaker 2: I do remember being like in our back room and
- 3:18Speaker 2: having the big meeting and the picture their picture would
- 3:21Speaker 2: come up on the screen and you'd have to talk
- 3:23Speaker 2: about them.
- 3:24Speaker 3: Please girls.
- 3:26Speaker 2: I rushed. Let's see in nineteen ninety one, so it's
- 3:32Speaker 2: been quite a long time. I do not remember much
- 3:36Speaker 2: about my whole life, especially h from ninety one, but
- 3:41Speaker 2: I will say that, yeah, my whole life, I don't
- 3:44Speaker 2: remember much, but in nineteen ninety one, oh my gosh.
- 3:49Speaker 2: I don't remember specifics, but I do know that any
- 3:53Speaker 2: time if anyone would ever like talk badly about something.
- 3:59Speaker 2: It really didn't have to be anything of interest to me.
- 4:04Speaker 2: But if they are bad talking, like bashing something or whatever,
- 4:09Speaker 2: that just always gives me a bad taste in my mouth.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Like you were saying, Megan about if I really love
- 4:16Speaker 2: hanging out with the people who like talking about me.
- 4:20Speaker 6: It's like, yeah, it's.
- 4:22Speaker 2: Like if someone's talking bad about somebody else, that just
- 4:26Speaker 2: leaves a really bad taste in my mouth. Those are
- 4:28Speaker 2: the people that I'm like, I don't know if I
- 4:31Speaker 2: want to invest my time in that person.
- 4:33Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I completely agree with that. I mean, at
- 4:36Speaker 3: ole Miss people would get blackballed for like dancing on tables,
- 4:42Speaker 3: smoking cigarettes in public, like before recruitment started. Yes, because
- 4:49Speaker 3: at ole Miss it's rush happened after school had already started.
- 4:53Speaker 3: So yeah, I hadn't mind your pie's and q's and
- 4:55Speaker 3: ole Miss was is the southern land of the Southern
- 4:58Speaker 3: Bells and they really meant it.
- 5:01Speaker 4: Mm hmm.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:02Speaker 3: I mean that's like the I mean, take that and
- 5:05Speaker 3: apply it to social media. I mean, I know that
- 5:07Speaker 3: we have a question about that too, but like you,
- 5:09Speaker 3: just cleaning up your acts on social media is the
- 5:12Speaker 3: same way that I had to clean up my act
- 5:14Speaker 3: on campus when I was rushing.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, no, for sure. I remember like because at SCSU,
- 5:23Speaker 1: I think it happens like a couple of weeks after
- 5:25Speaker 1: school starts or did when I was in it. And
- 5:27Speaker 1: I remember like all of like none of the girls
- 5:31Speaker 1: that were doing recruitment could go out, but like all
- 5:33Speaker 1: of us freshmen girls went out and we were like
- 5:36Speaker 1: meet all like the older guys and stuff. And then
- 5:39Speaker 1: I remember them like texting, like girls that were in
- 5:43Speaker 1: the sorority and we're like, oh, I'm going to tell
- 5:45Speaker 1: them that you're like really cool. And I was like,
- 5:47Speaker 1: this is so weird, right.
- 5:50Speaker 3: Sounds about right? Yeah, I would get we I literally
- 5:54Speaker 3: met a fifth year. I thought it was like so
- 5:56Speaker 3: cool because I was like seeing this fifth year scene
- 6:00Speaker 3: here and he had had the Pledges. This is like
- 6:04Speaker 3: before almost really cracked down on hazing. And the Pledges
- 6:08Speaker 3: would drive me around. It was amazing. They like whatever
- 6:15Speaker 3: I needed, they would wash my friend's car. It was like,
- 6:17Speaker 3: oh no, the Pledges will do it. We got you.
- 6:19Speaker 3: I'm like, oh, that's awesome.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Honestly, like the Pledges probably loved that, though, I mean
- 6:27Speaker 1: did they.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Yes, they did. Hanging out with like a cute girl. Yes, yeah,
- 6:34Speaker 2: that was not hazing in their mind.
- 6:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Probably by today's definition, it is for sure, but.
- 6:40Speaker 3: Yeah, that's so funny.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Okay, So the next one, bid bib bid Bible says
- 6:46Speaker 1: that you should not reach out to active members, but
- 6:49Speaker 1: rather you put yourself out there by posting on your
- 6:51Speaker 1: own social media and on incoming freshman accounts to encourage
- 6:55Speaker 1: them to reach out to you.
- 6:57Speaker 3: Is this bs or Bible like a chat room or something,
- 7:02Speaker 3: Chad or I think it's like, I think they're just saying,
- 7:05Speaker 3: like you shouldn't, like, don't reach out to girls that
- 7:07Speaker 3: are already in this roy Yeah.
- 7:09Speaker 2: I have heard that that you're not supposed to engage
- 7:12Speaker 2: in any kind of relationship friendship with people prior. Yeah,
- 7:19Speaker 2: but what if you're, like I have a question, what
- 7:21Speaker 2: if you're friends with somebody already? Are you just not
- 7:24Speaker 2: supposed to talk to them?
- 7:26Speaker 1: I think if you're like friends already, I feel like
- 7:28Speaker 1: that's fine, but like you don't want to be like
- 7:30Speaker 1: dming like girls that are in the sorority, or dming
- 7:33Speaker 1: the sorority account, or maybe like commenting on the sorority account.
- 7:37Speaker 1: I probably I wouldn't do that. I don't think it's
- 7:41Speaker 1: giving like pick me girl.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Yeah, totally, yes, you do not want to be the
- 7:47Speaker 2: pick me girl?
- 7:48Speaker 3: No.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Yeah, did you guys ever get any like unhinged messages
- 7:53Speaker 1: or anything from like a P and M before recruitment
- 7:57Speaker 1: like began?
- 7:58Speaker 2: You know, I didn't because social video didn't even ow
- 8:01Speaker 2: close to this.
- 8:03Speaker 5: Social media came out with Facebook.
- 8:05Speaker 3: Allowing dot ed u logins when I was a sophomore
- 8:10Speaker 3: or junior. So no, the media did not exist for
- 8:14Speaker 3: me either.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:15Speaker 3: Oh my gosh.
- 8:16Speaker 2: I mean girls, I don't even think we had computers
- 8:18Speaker 2: at campus. Maybe we had maybe we had an old
- 8:22Speaker 2: like the big huge box computers like that looked like
- 8:25Speaker 2: a box.
- 8:26Speaker 6: Yeah yeah, oh yeah.
- 8:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean a lot, a lot was different.
- 8:33Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, even like from me.
- 8:36Speaker 3: To you, Trista, you know, ten years, nine years, what
- 8:39Speaker 3: is it ninety one? Twelve years different? I mean that's
- 8:42Speaker 3: significant in technology years.
- 8:44Speaker 2: Huge, yes, huge.
- 8:47Speaker 1: It is crazy how like fast things have advanced, even
- 8:50Speaker 1: like I think of my siblings, Like my little sister
- 8:53Speaker 1: just graduated this year, my little brother is going to
- 8:55Speaker 1: be a senior. And even with like chat, GBT and
- 8:57Speaker 1: like AI stuff. Yeah, I'm like it's crazy, it is.
- 9:03Speaker 1: It's so crazy.
- 9:04Speaker 2: It's I don't know, it's a little bit scary to me,
- 9:08Speaker 2: but also yeah, you know, obviously very helpful, but just gosh,
- 9:13Speaker 2: just all that's out there on social media. I did
- 9:15Speaker 2: see this post the other day and someone was saying
- 9:19Speaker 2: that they were scared that their daughter something, that someone
- 9:24Speaker 2: would share a nude of their daughter. And they're like, well, now, a,
- 9:29Speaker 2: I can just make it up, but it doesn't matter
- 9:31Speaker 2: if it's actually real, you know, like just that that's
- 9:34Speaker 2: so scary that things like that with people who have
- 9:38Speaker 2: bad intentions can do those sort of things.
- 9:43Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, it is crazy.
- 9:44Speaker 1: I feel like it's good like when it's used for
- 9:46Speaker 1: like the right reasons for sure.
- 9:49Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, very hopeful.
- 10:06Speaker 1: This one we kind of I feel like, touched on
- 10:08Speaker 1: a little bit. But this is bid Bible also, so
- 10:11Speaker 1: they have a guide to cleaning up your social media
- 10:13Speaker 1: and they recommend removing boys, alcohol, bikini picks, and more.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Do you think these extreme measures are important? Is this
- 10:20Speaker 1: be as your Bible?
- 10:21Speaker 6: Yes?
- 10:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like you don't want, like honestly too,
- 10:26Speaker 1: Like I think about my mom like always told me
- 10:28Speaker 1: with like social media, like what you put on it,
- 10:30Speaker 1: like it's always out there and I think just always
- 10:34Speaker 1: remembering that. I mean, I think like if you have
- 10:36Speaker 1: a picture in like you're like bikini and then you
- 10:40Speaker 1: think you look cute, I'm like, yeah, that's fine, but
- 10:41Speaker 1: maybe not like a sexual like posing one.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Totally.
- 10:45Speaker 3: I wouldn't even do the bikini honestly. Yeah, Like I
- 10:49Speaker 3: mean maybe, but if if I'm thinking about like if
- 10:54Speaker 3: I'm applying for a job and i'm and I'm you know,
- 10:57Speaker 3: they're gonna look at my social media, Do I want
- 11:00Speaker 3: them to see me in a bikini picture. No, but
- 11:02Speaker 3: like it is me and it is my life and
- 11:04Speaker 3: I have a life outside of work, but they don't
- 11:06Speaker 3: need to know that. I can add it.
- 11:08Speaker 5: We add it back in some other time.
- 11:10Speaker 3: Yeah, totally.
- 11:11Speaker 2: I think it's it's interesting that they put Do you
- 11:14Speaker 2: think these extreme measures are important? I don't think they're extreme, Like,
- 11:18Speaker 2: I don't see as that. I feel like, you know,
- 11:21Speaker 2: you should always like kind of to your point, Daisy,
- 11:24Speaker 2: always be aware of what you're putting on your page
- 11:28Speaker 2: and being thoughtful about it because it is out there forever,
- 11:33Speaker 2: so just being thoughtful and putting yourself in the shoes
- 11:37Speaker 2: of the people who are in these sororities and are
- 11:40Speaker 2: essentially hiring you not for a job, but to be
- 11:43Speaker 2: part of their group. And if you fit in in
- 11:47Speaker 2: any way, if you look like you're doing things that
- 11:53Speaker 2: might have a negative connotation like drinking or whatever, then
- 11:56Speaker 2: just maybe choose not to. I mean, why would you,
- 11:59Speaker 2: Like there's no real to point it out there unless
- 12:02Speaker 2: you're doing like a brand deal with Budweiser, so you
- 12:05Speaker 2: know what I'm saying, Like there's no reason to put
- 12:07Speaker 2: it out there, So why wouldeah?
- 12:10Speaker 1: For sure, I honestly think too, Like me being in
- 12:13Speaker 1: a sorority like during college, I think it really helped
- 12:16Speaker 1: me like not get in Like I think it really
- 12:19Speaker 1: helped like my future self and like where I'm at
- 12:22Speaker 1: right now, because like I remember, like you couldn't post
- 12:25Speaker 1: alcohol and like certain like pictures if like you would post,
- 12:29Speaker 1: I think it was like a purple or a yellow heart,
- 12:32Speaker 1: like someone from Exact Exact would comment and you would
- 12:35Speaker 1: have to like take it down. But I feel like
- 12:37Speaker 1: it's just because when you go away to college, like
- 12:39Speaker 1: you don't have your parents kind of like watching over
- 12:42Speaker 1: everything you do. And so for me, I think it
- 12:44Speaker 1: was kind of nice to have like.
- 12:46Speaker 4: That little bit of like say, like in mine like,
- 12:50Speaker 4: did you get the purple heart of her?
- 12:53Speaker 3: I can't remember if I did.
- 12:55Speaker 2: I'm stealing this tip. It's like a you know, have
- 12:59Speaker 2: you heard of people who in there within their families
- 13:02Speaker 2: they have like a safe word. So yeah, like for
- 13:05Speaker 2: teens if you're out and you know, if you're at
- 13:08Speaker 2: a sleepover. This was something that when Blakesley would first
- 13:11Speaker 2: start having sleepovers, people would talk about, you have a
- 13:14Speaker 2: sleepover and you don't feel safe. Then you just call
- 13:17Speaker 2: me and you say, you know whatever the safe word is,
- 13:20Speaker 2: and I immediately just come get you. And I'm like, oh,
- 13:22Speaker 2: did you know that we have to go somewhere early
- 13:24Speaker 2: in the morning now, so I have to come and
- 13:26Speaker 2: pick you up. That is a great little safe word.
- 13:30Speaker 2: I love that. I want to come up with that
- 13:32Speaker 2: with Blakesley and Max and just yea be like okay,
- 13:35Speaker 2: if I send a hiking boot, then you know, yeah,
- 13:41Speaker 2: remove whatever you.
- 13:43Speaker 3: Just put on boot it.
- 13:45Speaker 2: Yeah, anyway, that's a great tip.
- 13:52Speaker 3: I love that. Yeah. And it's like a soft nudge,
- 13:55Speaker 3: you know exactly yeah right, it's not harsh.
- 13:58Speaker 2: No, like instead of me them and being like, really
- 14:02Speaker 2: do you think that's a good idea that you just
- 14:04Speaker 2: posted that Yeah, it's a hiking boot, just the little
- 14:08Speaker 2: tiny hiking boot, that's all.
- 14:11Speaker 3: Yeah, that's so funny.
- 14:16Speaker 5: Well it's good that you're thinking about it though.
- 14:18Speaker 3: I mean, like I think, like this said, just being
- 14:21Speaker 3: intentional about what you're posting is always good advice, no
- 14:23Speaker 3: matter if rushing or not.
- 14:25Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I agree. And do you think when you're
- 14:28Speaker 1: going into recruitment now, since social media is such a
- 14:31Speaker 1: big thing, do you think you need to be public
- 14:33Speaker 1: own platforms?
- 14:34Speaker 2: I mean, I don't think so. I feel like, there,
- 14:37Speaker 2: why would they require that. I don't know. I bet
- 14:40Speaker 2: it is all specific to each college or each university,
- 14:45Speaker 2: and maybe even each sorority. But I feel like, why
- 14:51Speaker 2: would they require that unless they want to just kind
- 14:56Speaker 2: of see how you live your life. But I would
- 14:58Speaker 2: say airing on the side of privacy, like not sharing
- 15:02Speaker 2: everything good is a good idea.
- 15:05Speaker 3: Oh, I agree, I think so. I mean I'm thinking
- 15:09Speaker 3: from from an athlete standpoint, like, if you're a want
- 15:13Speaker 3: to be a college athlete, if it's important to like
- 15:15Speaker 3: have your page public and like show your plays and
- 15:18Speaker 3: promote yourself. But yeah, if you're going into rush, I
- 15:21Speaker 3: mean you're not. This is it's it's like a one
- 15:25Speaker 3: on individual analysis of your fit. So it really shouldn't
- 15:30Speaker 3: come from social media. I think trust that you're onto
- 15:33Speaker 3: something here that like the the better idea might beat
- 15:36Speaker 3: this to keep it private, yeah yeah you can.
- 15:41Speaker 2: Yeah, but you're like face to face interaction with the
- 15:44Speaker 2: people in the in the house, like yeah, that's how
- 15:48Speaker 2: you want to be representative. Representative. Oh my god, I
- 15:52Speaker 2: can't talk representative now and not and not what you
- 16:04Speaker 2: like a picture or a video or whatever that you
- 16:07Speaker 2: did one night when you were just being silly or
- 16:10Speaker 2: you know, just let let yourself speak for yourself in person.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Yeah, so okay, So the sorority sister talks about avoiding
- 16:18Speaker 1: infamous four bees and rush conversations during recruitment.
- 16:23Speaker 3: Oh so don't talk.
- 16:24Speaker 1: About boys, booze, Bible ballots all.
- 16:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean that is totally life too, Like yes,
- 16:32Speaker 2: I mean, with your friends, talk about boys, but never
- 16:36Speaker 2: do you ever want to talk about religion or politics,
- 16:38Speaker 2: like yeah, don't go there.
- 16:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like those are only for like people
- 16:45Speaker 1: that like you are like.
- 16:47Speaker 3: You know where they stand. Yeah, I'm like you're very
- 16:50Speaker 3: very close with like totally we're not trying to incite
- 16:54Speaker 3: any sort of disrespect or defensiveness, like we got to
- 16:58Speaker 3: open Happy Old. Yeah.
- 17:01Speaker 2: Yeah, you're not in a debate here. You're not, you know,
- 17:05Speaker 2: debating for a seat in wherever. You're just trying to
- 17:10Speaker 2: make friends. So I feel like that can come later
- 17:12Speaker 2: if it's something of interest to you, if you want
- 17:15Speaker 2: to study it in school. But I don't think it
- 17:18Speaker 2: has a place in Rush.
- 17:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:21Speaker 1: I remember because it was kind of like a thing,
- 17:23Speaker 1: like nobody talk about it. And I feel like it
- 17:25Speaker 1: goes the same way like on like when you're the
- 17:28Speaker 1: one like recruiting girls, like I feel like you're told
- 17:32Speaker 1: I was like told not to bring that staff up either.
- 17:35Speaker 5: And I would be like, but I want to.
- 17:36Speaker 1: Know, yeah right, yeah.
- 17:42Speaker 5: And I might judge you for it.
- 17:44Speaker 6: But but I only remember one time a girl brought
- 17:49Speaker 6: up a boy to me, and it was actually Thor
- 17:51Speaker 6: because I think we were like juniors and me and
- 17:54Speaker 6: Thor were dating at that time, and a girl was like, oh,
- 17:57Speaker 6: I know your boyfriend.
- 17:59Speaker 1: I was like, oh really, and she like went, she's
- 18:02Speaker 1: like from like the same hometown or something.
- 18:06Speaker 3: Yeah, it's cute, yeah.
- 18:09Speaker 2: And it's personal, Like it's not like you're gossiping about
- 18:13Speaker 2: the cute boy. Use in Theta or something, you know. Yeah,
- 18:16Speaker 2: just you're just sharing about like your personal life. So
- 18:20Speaker 2: I think that, Yeah, I feel like that's okay if
- 18:23Speaker 2: you have a personal connection. Yeah, if you're just chatting
- 18:26Speaker 2: about the cute boys or the not so cute boys,
- 18:29Speaker 2: maybe keep that to yourself until after recruitment.
- 18:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I would say.
- 18:33Speaker 1: Also, like you're going if it's like a school like
- 18:36Speaker 1: how mine is, where you like it's like rush happened,
- 18:40Speaker 1: or how stsu was, where like Rush happened, like a
- 18:43Speaker 1: few weeks after school starts, I definitely won't be like
- 18:46Speaker 1: running around like kissing and hooking up with a bunch
- 18:49Speaker 1: of new guys or I'm not not being.
- 18:54Speaker 2: And you know why not just because you don't want
- 18:57Speaker 2: to come across as uh sledty Mcutterstein. But you also
- 19:02Speaker 2: you also you know that those boys have connection to
- 19:06Speaker 2: girls in houses, So you know that the boys are
- 19:08Speaker 2: going to run back to their girlfriends in whatever sorority
- 19:12Speaker 2: and guess who I HU hung out.
- 19:15Speaker 3: With last night, you know.
- 19:18Speaker 2: So it's just not a good look.
- 19:20Speaker 3: I don't know, definitely want to.
- 19:36Speaker 1: Do you think like some recruiters bring up like boys
- 19:40Speaker 1: booze Bible ballads to test p and ms and see
- 19:44Speaker 1: if they avoid the topic.
- 19:47Speaker 2: I mean that's kind of nasty, right.
- 19:49Speaker 4: I feel like, only if you're like only if they're
- 19:51Speaker 4: like a mean girl, honestly, like put you in a
- 19:54Speaker 4: difficult position, that is.
- 19:57Speaker 3: Time I would probably do. I kind of just said
- 20:02Speaker 3: I would. I'm like, I want to know those things,
- 20:04Speaker 3: but you're not supposed to talk about it. How are
- 20:06Speaker 3: you going to handle this situation? No, I don't think
- 20:09Speaker 3: that's the They shouldn't. They shouldn't be tricking, Like that's
- 20:12Speaker 3: trickery a of all, be of all, it has like
- 20:15Speaker 3: like we said before, it has no place in the sorority.
- 20:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:19Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't think that's cool.
- 20:21Speaker 1: I feel like it was like a thing when I
- 20:23Speaker 1: was in college that everyone told me, like if you
- 20:25Speaker 1: had a boyfriend, like, do not tell them you have
- 20:28Speaker 1: a boyfriend, because they want girls that'll be like fun
- 20:31Speaker 1: and hang out with the frat boys.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, maybe not talk about it, like, don't
- 20:35Speaker 2: lead with it, but yeah it comes up like you know,
- 20:38Speaker 2: you're the girl that you were talking to and they're like, oh,
- 20:41Speaker 2: I know your boyfriend, then obviously you can you know,
- 20:44Speaker 2: say some nice things. But I don't think that talking
- 20:48Speaker 2: about your romantic relationships during recruitment really has a big place,
- 20:54Speaker 2: you know, focus on you who you are as a person,
- 20:58Speaker 2: and not who you are with another person, just who
- 21:02Speaker 2: you are. You know.
- 21:03Speaker 1: This is kind of like a different side question, well
- 21:06Speaker 1: kind of not really, do you guys think like it's
- 21:09Speaker 1: better to go into college single than in a relationship.
- 21:13Speaker 2: So Blakesley is in a relationship and so is Max.
- 21:16Speaker 2: They are both mix is going to see you Boulder
- 21:19Speaker 2: and his girlfriend. He and his girlfriend are really solid. Yeah,
- 21:23Speaker 2: we love her, we love her family, and so I
- 21:27Speaker 2: you know, as a mom, I can't tell my kids
- 21:32Speaker 2: either or like it's their life and they need to
- 21:35Speaker 2: do you know what they feel is right.
- 21:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:38Speaker 2: I do have conversations like before Max got into see
- 21:42Speaker 2: you or decided I should say to go to see you. Yeah,
- 21:46Speaker 2: I did have a conversation saying I don't think you
- 21:50Speaker 2: should go to see you because Maggie is going there.
- 21:53Speaker 2: I think you need to make the decision based on
- 21:56Speaker 2: whether you would go to the school if she wasn't there,
- 22:00Speaker 2: and why you're choosing to go to certain colleges, you know,
- 22:04Speaker 2: so it should be about what your next four years
- 22:08Speaker 2: or whatever and not the time that you're going to
- 22:12Speaker 2: have with her, and the same thing goes for Blakesley.
- 22:16Speaker 2: There they probably will end up on different coasts.
- 22:19Speaker 3: I would guess that's hard.
- 22:22Speaker 2: So it'll happen however it's supposed to happen, it'll happen.
- 22:25Speaker 2: But if you don't have a relationship at the end
- 22:29Speaker 2: of your senior year, I don't know that I would
- 22:31Speaker 2: recommend getting into a relationship before you go to college,
- 22:35Speaker 2: you know.
- 22:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, life happens right like you shouldn't and
- 22:39Speaker 3: if your life is, if you're happy in your life,
- 22:42Speaker 3: you shouldn't make a change just based on you know,
- 22:45Speaker 3: some something like rush, like a break cup or something
- 22:48Speaker 3: that seems a bit extreme. But yeah, I mean I
- 22:51Speaker 3: think that being single is is like a really good
- 22:54Speaker 3: way to get to know yourself and learn about yourself,
- 22:58Speaker 3: especially within like a new, brand new start at your
- 23:03Speaker 3: like adult life in college.
- 23:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I do say think that, like I don't want
- 23:09Speaker 2: Max to be so focused on his relationship that he
- 23:15Speaker 2: doesn't get to know other people, you know, But in
- 23:19Speaker 2: the same sentence, I can say Maggie is so social
- 23:24Speaker 2: and I feel like he'll probably meet more people because
- 23:27Speaker 2: he's dating her.
- 23:28Speaker 5: So it's not black and white.
- 23:30Speaker 2: Yeah, totally, it's just what it is, and he's going
- 23:34Speaker 2: to be great regards.
- 23:35Speaker 3: Everything is nuanced. And then we could even go even
- 23:37Speaker 3: further and say, well, would Max even choose to go
- 23:40Speaker 3: to Boulder, Maybe would have chosen to go to a
- 23:41Speaker 3: local community college? Who knows. I mean, it's the butterfly effect.
- 23:45Speaker 3: Every little choice we make effects, you know, the rest
- 23:48Speaker 3: of our lives in some ways. Yeah, this is the
- 23:51Speaker 3: theory at least, But yeah, I think it's all nuanced.
- 23:55Speaker 3: But like, as long as we keep open minds and
- 23:58Speaker 3: open relationships, I think we can do well at RUSH.
- 24:02Speaker 2: Yes, maybe not open relationships.
- 24:07Speaker 3: Virus that's part of the bees. The boys. We don't
- 24:12Speaker 3: talk about that.
- 24:16Speaker 1: That's so funny.
- 24:18Speaker 3: I love that.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Is there any like last advice you would give to
- 24:23Speaker 1: incoming p and ms who are overwhelmed by all the
- 24:26Speaker 1: advice they see online about rush?
- 24:29Speaker 3: Just be yourself?
- 24:31Speaker 2: I was literally going to say the same thing, So
- 24:33Speaker 2: there you go, that's our advice. Yes, Yeah, I feel
- 24:37Speaker 2: like that's that's what it's all about. You don't want
- 24:40Speaker 2: to rush a story, you don't want to be in
- 24:43Speaker 2: a sorority that you won't have friends like you need
- 24:46Speaker 2: to be yourself and and be able to communicate who
- 24:50Speaker 2: that is in order to match with the people that
- 24:54Speaker 2: are going to be your people, not with people that
- 24:57Speaker 2: you're not going to have any like for you know,
- 25:01Speaker 2: connection too. So I feel like, just be yourself and
- 25:05Speaker 2: and it'll all like it's not about the popular sororities
- 25:10Speaker 2: or like who who is has more followers on Instagram, Like,
- 25:15Speaker 2: it's not about that. You don't want to be with
- 25:17Speaker 2: people just because you've seen them on social media or
- 25:20Speaker 2: heard about them through a friend. You want to connect
- 25:23Speaker 2: with the people in the house.
- 25:24Speaker 3: Yeah, so just be yourself. I agree. I think that
- 25:28Speaker 3: like a lesson that I certainly learned from being on
- 25:32Speaker 3: reality television. We all have. We've all three of us
- 25:35Speaker 3: have been on reality television and not and and I
- 25:40Speaker 3: think the way we all started was just showcasing our
- 25:42Speaker 3: own personalities, not for any sort of like particular skill.
- 25:46Speaker 3: And it's amazing. What I like, the feedback that I
- 25:49Speaker 3: got was we all these fans they liked me. I
- 25:52Speaker 3: didn't do anything.
- 25:53Speaker 5: It was just me.
- 25:54Speaker 3: I just showed up as myself and they liked me.
- 25:57Speaker 3: Every single human being on this planet has the oppportunity
- 26:00Speaker 3: to do the same thing, and they're just as special
- 26:03Speaker 3: as anybody else on reality television being themselves. And so
- 26:07Speaker 3: I really really want, especially young people to not only
- 26:11Speaker 3: know that like they're special and just showing up as
- 26:14Speaker 3: you are, but also to know that their opinions count
- 26:18Speaker 3: more than they think. Like grown ups don't have it
- 26:20Speaker 3: all together. So listen to your heart and be who
- 26:23Speaker 3: you are.
- 26:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I love that, and I think if you do that,
- 26:28Speaker 1: you'll end up right where you belong.
- 26:34Speaker 3: And then you'll be a kkgs. This was so much fun.
- 26:43Speaker 1: Okay, well, thank you guys so much for joining me.
- 26:46Speaker 2: This was awesome and thank you for having me.
- 26:51Speaker 3: Yes always.
- 26:53Speaker 1: Okay, guys, so that ends our second episode on this topic.
