  Speaker 1: It is.
• 0:25
Speaker 1: We've got some fun car talk coming up.
• 0:28
Speaker 1: Troy Dixon's going to join us from Houston Performance Driving.
• 0:32
Speaker 1: Some people call it HPD.
• 0:33
Speaker 1: To me, HPD means Houston Police Department, but I'm sure that somebody forgot about that somewhere along the line.
• 0:41
Speaker 1: But we'll get you all caught up.
• 0:42
Speaker 1: We also have stories making automotive news headlines today.
• 0:45
Speaker 1: Howdy, along with Mike out of this world, Mars.
• 0:47
Speaker 1: We always need more.
• 0:49
Speaker 1: Jeff Zekin, I'm Don Armstrong, Glad that you could join us today.
• 0:53
Speaker 1: Troy Dixon, HPD, I do not see any chevrons on your shirt this morning I'm thinking well, maybe you never were in the HPD, were you?
• 1:12
Speaker 2: Guys, can you hear me okay?
• 1:13
  Speaker 1: Yes, we can.
• 1:13
Speaker 1: We can hear you just fine.
• 1:15
  Speaker 2: Lovely, lovely.
• 1:15
  Speaker 2: I haven't done a Zoom meeting in a while.
• 1:17
Speaker 2: I wasn't trying to get all my settings correct.
• 1:18
Speaker 2: But no, no, not the.
• 1:20
Speaker 2: That's actually an inside joke.
• 1:21
Speaker 2: When we first started HPD Houston Performers Dry Incoving about 24 years ago, there was some confusion there.
• 1:29
Speaker 2: So we went on to social media and said, hey, everybody at the time went by HPD, it just sings right.
• 1:34
Speaker 1: You know, is your headset going bad or something?
• 1:37
  Speaker 1: It's really scratchy.
• 1:38
Speaker 1: We got a lot of feedback on that.
• 1:39
Speaker 1: There, don't move, don't touch anything.
• 1:43
Speaker 2: All right, does that sound better now?
• 1:47
  Speaker 2: Yes, it does.
• 1:48
Speaker 2: Okay, we'll try to keep that then.
• 1:48
Speaker 2: Uh, yes, so back like I said, 24 years ago when we started used performance driving, we called it hpd for short, and a lot of people you know found that jokingly funny because we'd go on social media say, hey, this event's by hpd and uh, you know what's it like?
• 2:00
Speaker 2: The police are hosting a car event.
• 2:03
Speaker 2: So no, so no, that was always good, funny joke and it still is a good joke to this day.
• 2:08
Speaker 1: Yeah, so you've got an event coming up.
• 2:12
  Speaker 2: Yes, we do.
• 2:13
Speaker 2: We've got our Houston Cars and Cocktails event coming up at Sawyer Park in the Woodlands on the 12th of July.
• 2:19
Speaker 2: Do you serve cocktails there?
• 2:22
  Speaker 2: Yes, absolutely.
• 2:23
Speaker 2: I mean, they don't want me behind the bar.
• 2:25
Speaker 2: You don't want that.
• 2:26
Speaker 2: Nobody wants to see that mess.
• 2:29
Speaker 1: So how do you get by with the thing about drinking and driving?
• 2:33
Speaker 2: Sure, sure and Don.
• 2:36
Speaker 2: That's a very good question, because a lot of times when I do post on social media, there's that one guy or that one Karenaren that uh will say something negative and you know be like oh, you guys are mixing alcohol and cars, no, so so this is a very adult.
• 2:50
Speaker 2: So when we did this intentionally, it was intended for adults only, um, but, and so we?
• 2:56
Speaker 2: We follow all the tbc regulations, so we hire police.
• 3:00
Speaker 2: We are private gated property.
• 3:02
Speaker 2: I'm not quite sure of every little tidbit law, but we follow the avenues that are uh within tabc regulations.
• 3:10
Speaker 2: So that way there's no big deal there uh being in the parking lot with a cocktail, just you know, um, enjoying the, the cars that are out there in the display area, but we hire police.
• 3:19
Speaker 1: We have either so as long as you don't get ripped up, you're okay oh yeah, and you know what's great?
• 3:25
Speaker 2: We've been doing this.
• 3:26
Speaker 2: We've been doing cars and cocktails for probably three years and I've been hosting events for 20.
• 3:33
Speaker 2: And not once have we ever had an issue with that, because once we see something like that, if we saw somebody going ham, we would address that.
• 3:44
Speaker 2: The coordinators would take it upon ourselves to address it, but we, we don't have that, we don't, we don't even.
• 3:50
Speaker 2: Really, it's almost where we don't even look at that anymore, because we don't.
• 3:54
Speaker 2: We never have anybody do that, because it's a family orientated event, everybody is very responsible, everybody stays hydrated and, um, you know, there's just no alarm when it comes to that Well, I'd be doing a disservice if I didn't address that with you, because you know, obviously I've had people come up and say, hey, what's the deal?
• 4:15
Speaker 1: And I don't know if we've ever talked about it, but I do want to put that out there.
• 4:19
Speaker 2: I love cars and I love bourbon.
• 4:21
Speaker 2: Now mix those two together on.
• 4:23
Speaker 1: You know, in some circumstances that could be a recipe for yeah, you could lose a finger or two after the car comes crashing down in the driveway yeah, you know, like I said, it's always in the back of our minds.
• 4:35
Speaker 2: You know we're always on the lookout for it.
• 4:37
Speaker 2: You know, I mean I have a phd in human behavior, practically, you know, I'm just a very social guy.
• 4:41
Speaker 2: So if we we saw anything that may be over the top, like I said, it would be addressed.
• 4:46
Speaker 2: We have the law enforcement there on site to address that.
• 4:48
Speaker 2: I mean, heck, if it was in a situation that was getting to a boiling point, I would pay for an Uber to get that guy home.
• 4:56
Speaker 1: So let me ask you this let's talk more about this event that's coming up.
• 4:59
Speaker 2: Yes, sir, absolutely Okay.
• 5:01
Speaker 1: And it's Sawyer Park.
• 5:02
Speaker 1: Where is that exactly?
• 5:03
Speaker 2: So Sawyer Park is right as you come across the county line in southern Montgomery County.
• 5:09
Speaker 2: So it's got a great access point where there's 99, hardy Toll Road, 45, all merged together and it's going to be right there on the woodland side of the property.
• 5:20
Speaker 2: I'm not quite sure of the address.
• 5:22
Speaker 2: I know the street name is Pruitt and it used to be the old Papa's.
• 5:27
Speaker 2: If you remember Papa's, like Papa's on the Lake or when Papa's ice house was in the woods, they had bought.
• 5:34
Speaker 2: Some guys I actually went to high school bought that property, remodeled it and made it to a more proper ice house and gave it, took the pink colors away that Papa's had and then um gave it you know, a much more a facelift and redid the parking lot.
• 5:50
Speaker 2: So it's fully paid, fully striped um, full menu.
• 5:54
Speaker 2: Actually, a lot of people like the food.
• 5:56
Speaker 2: This is that's now.
• 5:57
Speaker 2: I think this is the one place where we host one of our.
• 5:59
Speaker 2: We have another cars and cocktails in um the last sunday of every month at tomball and and the little wood rows there same concepts and things like that, um, but where, uh, that facility is been, like I said, remodeled.
• 6:15
Speaker 2: It's very nice, it's got games for the kids, it's got an astro turf area for, you know, cornhole, other games that they have out there, massive, massive, massive screen TVs for the Astros games, texans games, things like that.
• 6:27
Speaker 2: You can bring the kids.
• 6:30
  Speaker 2: It is a.
• 6:31
Speaker 2: You know, we do have people.
• 6:32
Speaker 2: You have to be 21 to drink, obviously, but families are allowed inside and dogs are allowed as well.
• 6:39
  Speaker 1: So it's a pet-friendly facility.
• 6:40
Speaker 1: Is it more of a cruise inn?
• 6:41
Speaker 1: Is it a judged show?
• 6:43
  Speaker 1: What is it?
• 6:43
Speaker 2: No, so this is basically just a social gathering, a professional network gathering.
• 6:49
Speaker 2: We will have car shows from time to time, that have trophies, have events, have categories, but I guess it is a cruise-in because we'll have groups meet on the north, south, east, west and central locations and those locations will be posted on our social media, mainly through Facebook, and you can meet up early with that crew or there's other events going on that people are coming out.
• 7:13
Speaker 2: For example, car culture will be in I think they're in Pearland the same day as we are, but they're earlier.
• 7:20
Speaker 2: So you have those guys coming up out of that to give a drive and to experience.
• 7:25
Speaker 2: You know, have a good little seat time, which is great, and then get up there and then get parked in.
• 7:30
Speaker 2: We have VIP sections where people can pre-register, so there's a guaranteed spot for you.
• 7:35
Speaker 2: We'll have you on a roster.
• 7:37
Speaker 2: You check in with the staff when you pull in and you can get to a spot very easily.
• 7:41
Speaker 2: You don't have to fight the crowd.
• 7:42
Speaker 2: We've got multiple staff stationed throughout the parking lot just pointing the direction, getting people everywhere they need to go.
• 7:58
Speaker 2: And then you know, just get to your hole, get to your spot, enjoy the parking lot, come inside, grab a table, you know, enjoy any sports facilities, enjoy the music, enjoy the people.
• 8:02
Speaker 2: And that's what we really do here.
• 8:03
Speaker 2: Is it's really about meeting new people?
• 8:03
Speaker 2: Is it's really about meeting new people?
• 8:05
Speaker 2: So if, like, you're a car club and you're looking for new attendees or new blood, it's a good way to come out and meet other people that have the same chassis.
• 8:10
Speaker 2: Or if you're a car club that has multiple chassis, or if you're an event promoter, you can come out if you, you know, have a product you want to sell, you can come out, like you know, car cleaning products, anything like that we have, we have a, we have sponsor stations and things like that, and we and we're very well designed.
• 8:26
Speaker 2: So everything's very cosmetically um, attractive, um, and then it's like you way to cosmetically don don't even get me started um looks like he's work done yeah, well, I need to lose about 50 pounds and we'll be better.
• 8:42
  Speaker 2: That's 50.
• 8:43
Speaker 2: But yeah, it's a great event to meet new people.
• 8:48
Speaker 2: So if you like to chat like I do like, the strongest muscles in my body are probably these right here on me, and once you get me talking, I don't be quiet, we know that's why it's always so good talking to y'all.
• 8:59
Speaker 2: But, like I said, it's a fantastic day.
• 9:03
Speaker 2: It's just so much fun.
• 9:05
Speaker 1: So what are the hours of it?
• 9:06
Speaker 1: What day is it?
• 9:07
Speaker 1: Is it saturday or sunday?
• 9:08
Speaker 2: it's always on sundays, so so, yes, so we are the second sunday of the month at sawyer park which was coming up, and we are the last sunday of the month which is at little wood, rose and tom ball.
• 9:19
Speaker 2: Um, different parking but same parking structure.
• 9:22
Speaker 2: And so, for example, our little Woodrose was 21 and up.
• 9:28
Speaker 2: They had a very strict policy of no kids and it was kind of heartbreaking because you'd see kids, you know parents, come in the parking lot and we asked them and they would come up to the gate and the cops wouldn't let them in, or the door people at Little Woodrose wouldn't let them in and they got turned down, and so we started getting some feedback on that.
• 9:47
Speaker 2: So we went to them and asked them to turn it 21 and up.
• 9:51
  Speaker 2: Now Sawyer Park.
• 9:52
Speaker 2: Good thing they were already 21 and up, so it was no big thing, because kids come from the baseball fields that are just down the street, and so we do get a lot of kids at Sawyer Park, which is coming up here on the 12th and that'll be from 11 to 3.
• 10:05
  Speaker 1: 11 to 3 pm.
• 10:10
Speaker 2: The coolest part of the day, oh, right now it's miserable, I mean that's why.
• 10:14
Speaker 2: Get the car in there, find your spot.
• 10:16
Speaker 2: You know, if you have a VIP spot, follow the instructions of the parking attendants.
• 10:20
Speaker 2: They'll help you get it in.
• 10:21
Speaker 2: And then get out of there and get into some shade.
• 10:25
Speaker 2: You know, get into the facility and, you know, get under the trees.
• 10:28
Speaker 2: You know, get into the AC.
• 10:30
Speaker 2: You know, get some water and get out of that heat, because this is this.
• 10:35
  Speaker 2: It's quite miserable.
• 10:36
Speaker 2: I mean, I have like probably three shirts that I have that I take off and put on because I'm soaked, and you you're out there hats, sunscreen sunglasses.
• 10:45
Speaker 2: So definitely, if you do come out now in the summertime, houston cars and cocktails definitely hydrate skin protection, sun protection what cars show up out there it is mainly your modern domestics.
• 10:59
Speaker 2: So you've got your corvette, camaro, cadillac, ctstsv, you got your Dodge Viper.
• 11:03
Speaker 2: We do have a good about maybe 20%, 30% is import.
• 11:07
Speaker 2: So you'll have your Supra, you'll have your BMWs, mercedes.
• 11:11
Speaker 2: You know, we do get the McLaren, we do get the Lambos, we do get the Ferraris.
• 11:16
Speaker 1: That's the one that Jeff brings up there right, the Lambo Lambo.
• 11:19
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, and we try to and like we got like people, like very well-known people, like you've got Kelly Bice, who's a big time heavy hitter in the Texas mile, the half mile, Arkansas, you know mile, they do.
• 11:31
Speaker 2: I mean 2000 horsepower C7 Corvettes, you know Z06, grand Sport, you know, I mean it looks like something straight out of NASA, out of nasa um.
• 11:46
Speaker 2: And then you've got people um other members that have, you know, like your um dodge viper, voodoo 2 acrs that are, you know they're, that were sent off to calvo motorsports with 2500 horsepower.
• 11:54
Speaker 2: I mean cars that just shake the your heart out of your chest.
• 11:58
Speaker 2: But jesus, yeah, yeah.
• 12:00
Speaker 2: And then, but we are one thing I I would um like to say is we are trying to work more with our classic car community.
• 12:07
Speaker 2: That's a, that's a a um group that we're trying to motivate to join us and we have we do have a classic vip row.
• 12:15
Speaker 2: So we have row one for our europeans and our and our americans, and then we have like row two, which is kind of a mixed muscle, and then we have our row three, which is our classic American muscle.
• 12:27
Speaker 2: So we try to work with those folks as well.
• 12:29
Speaker 2: We're trying to build our relationship with them, to get them out there, because we like that mix, we like that balance.
• 12:34
Speaker 1: So it is going to be next weekend.
• 12:39
  Speaker 1: Wait from tomorrow.
• 12:40
  Speaker 1: Wait from tomorrow.
• 12:41
Speaker 1: 11 to 3, sawyer Park park ice house woodlands.
• 12:45
Speaker 1: Yes, sir, okay, well, good, well, it sounds like fun.
• 12:49
Speaker 1: Is there an entry fee?
• 12:51
Speaker 2: no, so okay, so it's, it's free to enter.
• 12:53
Speaker 2: Come in the parking lot.
• 12:55
Speaker 2: Like I said, there's staff all over the place in green polos, just like the one I'm wearing here, with our beautiful little logo that I designed personally.
• 13:02
Speaker 1: Um, and uh, you're so gq.
• 13:06
  Speaker 2: I know, I know it's terrible, isn't it 50.
• 13:08
Speaker 2: We do have our reserved VIP spots, which we do ask $20 for as donations because there is a cost, an overhead that we incur.
• 13:19
Speaker 2: It's for our time, we pay for our police, we've got staff and things like that.
• 13:26
Speaker 2: So it's like a donation to help us move along and we use it for our marketing like that.
• 13:31
Speaker 2: So it is a, you know, it's like a donation to help us move along and we use it for our marketing.
• 13:33
Speaker 2: So like on facebook, where we can boost posts and we can add more people and get a bigger reach, to draw in new blood and keep things you know fresh and you know, and not just stagnant how many cars generally show up?
• 13:43
Speaker 2: we get about 300.
• 13:44
  Speaker 2: Wow, that's good.
• 13:46
Speaker 2: Yeah, that's probably that's our capacity on both parking lots.
• 13:49
Speaker 2: Both parking lots can fit 300 cars, so we'll block off about 50, 70 VIP spots.
• 13:57
Speaker 2: So we get about 50, 70 pre-registered people, people that will message me throughout the month or the weeks leading up to Troy.
• 14:08
  Speaker 2: I want a VIP spot.
• 14:09
Speaker 2: Can you put us in?
• 14:10
  Speaker 2: Absolutely.
• 14:12
Speaker 1: So do you want us to go to Facebook?
• 14:13
Speaker 1: Is that the easiest thing?
• 14:15
Speaker 2: That would be great.
• 14:15
Speaker 2: So Facebook wise, you have Houston Performance Driving, which is where all the information is delegated out, and that's me putting all one person putting that info out.
• 14:27
Speaker 2: And then we have our open forum, which is our group page.
• 14:30
Speaker 2: So you want to join that?
• 14:31
Speaker 2: So Houston Performance Driving group page.
• 14:33
Speaker 2: And then we have our Houston Cars and Cocktails fan page Houston Cars and Cocktails group page as well.
• 14:38
Speaker 2: So the fan pages are for singular information, delegation, and then the group pages are open forums where people can ask questions, look and see what other events are going on, because people, other coordinators from around the Houston area post their events in our open forum and it gives other people that come out to see us opportunities to go see other car events.
• 14:59
Speaker 1: Troy, it's great to talk to you, my friend.
• 15:00
Speaker 1: We thank you so much for joining us.
• 15:01
  Speaker 1: Thank you guys.

• 17:41
Speaker 1: Because now, okay, there's the Thursday, so do you take the day off on Friday?
• 17:48
Speaker 3: Yes, If you've got enough seniority to get in line to get that day, screw that I've got the vacation time.
• 17:56
Speaker 3: I know, but one of my daughters.
• 17:58
Speaker 3: She wanted that day off but there was too many people that beat her to it and so she couldn't get it.
• 18:03
Speaker 3: You've got to be on top of that stuff, well.
• 18:05
Speaker 3: And then people, they go off of seniority too, obviously.
• 18:08
Speaker 3: Yeah, that's part of the thing you know in the union shop for sure.
• 18:11
Speaker 3: So last week was a pre-4th of July.
• 18:14
Speaker 3: This is our post-4th of July.
• 18:15
Speaker 1: This is the hurricane show.
• 18:20
Speaker 3: We're getting into the well tropical storm a little weather, but it'll be a hurricane by the time it gets here.
• 18:22
Speaker 3: The rain would be good, but a small one is okay, I guess In and out is fine.
• 18:27
Speaker 1: All right Time now for this Week in Auto History.

• 18:35
Speaker 3: So June the 30th, back in 1953, of course, the first Chevrolet Corvette rose off the assembly line.
• 18:41
Speaker 3: It was a white drop top with a red interior in it.
• 18:46
Speaker 3: They were all that way Blood red.
• 18:47
Speaker 3: Yeah, all of them were Almost Blood red.
• 18:47
Speaker 3: Yeah, all of them were Almost.
• 18:51
Speaker 3: So then, on July the 1st in 1903, the Ford Motor Company actually sells its first automobile.
• 19:00
Speaker 3: This is the one Henry sold, the Model A.
• 19:01
Speaker 3: That began everything and really started it all.
• 19:03
Speaker 1: It looks like they're starting to tub it out.
• 19:04
  Speaker 1: It's a Model T, if anything.
• 19:07
  Speaker 1: It's not a Model A.
• 19:08
  Speaker 3: No, I think that's a Model A.
• 19:11
Speaker 1: Okay, well, for those out there, model A and Model T if anything, it's not a Model A.
• 19:13
  Speaker 3: No, I think that's a Model A.
• 19:14
Speaker 3: Okay, well, for those out there, model A and.
• 19:15
Speaker 1: Model T aficionados Send your hate mail to Mars at in-wheel time.
• 19:18
Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, we need more, it's going to be tubbed out.
• 19:21
Speaker 3: July the 3rd, 1996 is when Dodge had the Viper GTS Coupe came out.
• 19:28
Speaker 3: Oh boy, and it was introduced as a 96 with a V10 engine and it became kind of an automotive icon that they don't make anymore.
• 19:36
Speaker 3: Then, in July the 4th 1894, elwood Hayes not his brother, but Elwood test drives his first automobile.
• 19:46
Speaker 3: No-transcript, it was eight years after the German patent for their first automobile.
• 19:55
Speaker 1: Did his brother, jake join him.
• 19:57
Speaker 3: Now, Jake was busy that day washing clothes or something.
• 20:00
Speaker 1: I'd drive it Jake and Elwood, yeah, I'd drive it Go ahead.
• 20:04
Speaker 3: So July the 5th 1928, the first Chrysler Plymouth automobile goes on sale, leading up to the Chrysler which has a lot of iconic products that are no longer made.
• 20:16
Speaker 3: Then in July the 6th 1941, chrysler unveils Town Country.
• 20:20
Speaker 3: Now this came with a wood panel on the side of the body and it kind of set the stage for the iconic American station wagon.
• 20:29
Speaker 3: The other thing it was notable for was when they did come out with the minivan, the town and country used that same styling, with the wood panels on the side of it, I remember.
• 20:37
Speaker 3: Yeah, and it really kicked off the minivan revolution.
• 20:41
Speaker 1: A vinyl applique kind of styling.
• 20:43
Speaker 1: Well, I think this one actually I know that that one's real wood, but I'm talking about the van that you mentioned.
• 20:51
Speaker 3: Yep, yep, so it was a busy week.
• 20:53
Speaker 1: I found a lot of stuff this week in auto history you know, what would be a lot of fun is to just kind of take some really cheap C-class plywood, cut it up and put that on the side of that minivan, maybe stain it, if you really are into it.
• 21:11
Speaker 1: Oh, it's stained, all right.
• 21:12
Speaker 1: And then just, yeah, just drill it in there so the windows won't go up and down anymore, or get John to wrap it.
• 21:18
  Speaker 1: No, no, no.
• 21:19
Speaker 1: It loses the whole effect if you don't.
• 21:22
Speaker 3: Put the wood on it, but then wrap the wood instead of staining it.
• 21:25
  Speaker 1: That's too much.
• 21:26
Speaker 3: Just get some plywood and you know and get a bucket of stain and throw it on there and be done with it.
• 21:31
Speaker 1: Some fence pickets, old fence pickets, you see Barnwood.
• 21:35
Speaker 3: Screw it in with some nice, or you could just go through the freeway and hit those pickets that separate the lanes.
• 21:39
  Speaker 3: Picket hitter.
• 21:40
  Speaker 1: Oh yeah, absolutely.
• 21:41
Speaker 1: I know somebody that did that Whacked the front of the hood, whack it, and new hood That'll take care of that.
• 21:49
Speaker 1: Some of the stories making headlines this week US new car market lost some momentum in the second quarter as affordability, elevated prices and higher borrowing costs continued to weigh on consumers, even as dealers scrambled to salvage sales when key software was knocked offline by a coordinated cyber attack.
• 22:09
Speaker 1: No way Talking about CDK.
• 22:11
Speaker 1: The market dropped 0.5% in the second quarter.
• 22:14
Speaker 1: Based on results from most automakers, with sales still to be reported by Mercedes-Benz, porsche and Jaguar Land Rover.
• 22:21
Speaker 1: A seasonally adjusted rate of sales for June tallied $15.3 million, cox Automotive and Global Data said in a preliminary report, down sharply from a 2020 four high of $16.8 million in May and $16.22 million in June of 23.
• 22:43
Speaker 1: Well, the market finished the second quarter on a sour note because of the CDK outage.
• 22:47
Speaker 1: Cox Automotive Chief Economist, jonathan Smoke there's a name said other factors are undermining sales.
• 22:54
Speaker 1: The fleet market is clearly slowing and we still believe the retail market is lacking urgency, with many would-be buyers deciding wait and see is the prudent approach, with hopes of lower loan rates on the horizon, uncertainty of the upcoming national election and continued downward price pressure, particularly in new vehicles, the wait-and-see attitude should hardly be a surprise.
• 23:18
Speaker 1: I'm glad I'm not looking for a new car right now, but according to our last guest, who mentioned the fact that there are 22s on some dealer lots that they would just love to sell and, I'm sure, at a steep- discount.
• 23:43
Speaker 3: That surprised me, that that would happen.
• 23:46
Speaker 1: Well, like I said, that Biscayne, that white Biscayne on Richardson Chevrolet lot that we moved a thousand times but had to replace the battery with a charge to move it.
• 23:59
Speaker 1: So that thing became a sore, a leech in everybody's pants because you had to move the thing.
• 24:07
Speaker 1: Warranty expired because of mileage.
• 24:08
Speaker 3: They were moving it around, moving it around.
• 24:10
Speaker 1: They were left in the parking lot and they wound up doing a dealer trade on it.
• 24:17
Speaker 3: I find it interesting.
• 24:17
Speaker 3: I had an uncle from Arkansas call me and he was wanting to know what I thought about the Tacoma and I referred him to the review that you just recently did.
• 24:26
Speaker 3: But he was looking for a 23, which you can't find any in Arkansas because of the pricing.
• 24:33
Speaker 3: They're wanting full list price for the 24s and you know he's 80 years old, he doesn't want to spend that much money on a new truck.
• 24:40
Speaker 3: He's 80 years old, he doesn't want to spend that much money on a new truck.
• 24:44
Speaker 3: So I told him to go out on the Internet and do a broader search that he might find a 23.
• 24:47
Speaker 3: I never even thought that there might be some 22s still out there somewhere, not necessarily the Tacoma, but it would be anything.
• 24:52
  Speaker 3: I hear you.
• 24:57
  Speaker 1: I didn't either.
• 24:58
Speaker 1: Four dealerships have joined two consumers in suing CDK Global following its cyber attacks and software outages, alleging the incident compromised private information and harmed auto retail businesses and its employees.
• 25:08
Speaker 1: The lawsuit by the independent Formula Sports Cars dealership, the franchise Lamborghini, karma and Lotus retailer, prestige Motor Car Imports, chevrolet of Canton and Bill Holt, chevrolet of Blue Ridge stores and consumers Annie Ortiz and Alexis Pinho, seeks to also represent other dealerships and consumers, as well as certain auto retail employees, in a class action case.
• 25:34
Speaker 1: You knew that that was coming.
• 25:36
Speaker 1: That's probably a lawyer-driven thing, it is Whatever the case.
• 25:40
Speaker 1: Cdk really, they messed that all up by allowing themselves to get their software compromised by a foreign entity.
• 25:51
Speaker 1: The Russians, the Russians are coming, the Russians are coming.
• 25:55
Speaker 1: Did you ever see that movie?
• 25:56
Speaker 1: Probably did A long time ago.
• 25:59
Speaker 1: If you look at it today, it's really bad, but it was really funny back in the day.
• 26:03
Speaker 1: It was yeah, it was Jonathan Winters, wasn't it?
• 26:05
Speaker 1: I believe that he was one of the stars on that, the colonel, or something, something, and the submarine got lost and they landed on the East Coast and everybody was up in arms, as you can imagine.
• 26:17
  Speaker 1: Up in arms.
• 26:19
Speaker 1: Imagine, up in arms.
• 26:24
Speaker 1: Fisker has asked a bankruptcy judge overseeing its chapter 11 proceedings to approve the sale of more than 3 000 ocean electric crossovers in its inventory, for about 14 000 per car, to a vehicle leasing company.
• 26:34
Speaker 1: Wow, following the judge's nod, fisker will be able to offload 3 321.1 electric vehicles to new yorkbased American Lease for $46.25 million, according to a court filing on Tuesday.
• 26:47
Speaker 1: The EV startup, which filed for bankruptcy protection last month, faced logistics issues with selling its Ocean Electric crossovers and pivoted to a dealer-partner model earlier this year after burning through a large amount of cash.
• 26:59
Speaker 1: What an absolute mess.
• 27:01
Speaker 1: And how about those people that bought the ocean from Fisker and they paid full price for it, and now they are screwed, blued and tattooed.
• 27:11
Speaker 1: They're drowning in the ocean.
• 27:12
Speaker 1: Well, that's a good scenario there.
