- 0:21Remember that?
- 0:22One,
- 0:22we spent a lot of time on it back in the day.
- 0:24I want to spend a little more time on it
- 0:26and a new
- 0:27candidate countdown
- 0:29from the middle of the country.
- 0:30Today,
- 0:30we'll get into that and so much more.
- 0:32Make sure to join us at predictableshow.com.
- 0:34Every position that I have in prediction markets is up there.
- 0:37We have an update
- 0:38to our prediction model as well
- 0:40for the midterms,
- 0:41all that predictableshow.com.
- 0:58All right,
- 0:59here we go.
- 1:00Predictable with Stu.
- 1:01So much to get to today.
- 1:02I wanna get right to it.
- 1:03We have 5 weeks
- 1:04to the day.
- 1:065 weeks from today is the election.
- 1:09It's getting closer and closer as we go.
- 1:11That might,
- 1:11and for,
- 1:12uh,
- 1:12you don't have to be a mathematician to watch the show.
- 1:14I use a lot of numbers.
- 1:15We,
- 1:15we do that all the time,
- 1:16but just so you know,
- 1:165 weeks,
- 1:1735 days
- 1:19until the election.
- 1:21You can write that down and impress your friends with that sort
- 1:23of knowledge because that's what we give you here on the program.
- 1:25By the way,
- 1:25early voting has already begun in 5
- 1:28different states across the country,
- 1:31and,
- 1:31uh,
- 1:32we have,
- 1:33gosh,
- 1:33there's so many of them,
- 1:34uh,
- 1:34a bunch coming up here starting Sunday,
- 1:36more states come on board,
- 1:37Maine,
- 1:38then,
- 1:38uh,
- 1:39California,
- 1:39Montana,
- 1:40and Nebraska.
- 1:40California gives you
- 1:4114 months to vote.
- 1:43Uh,
- 1:44they,
- 1:44they give you about,
- 1:45uh,
- 1:45yeah,
- 1:455 weeks beforehand.
- 1:47And then about,
- 1:48uh,
- 1:48you know,
- 1:4913 months
- 1:50after the election you can continue to vote
- 1:53in California.
- 1:53That's the law.
- 1:54Pretty sure you check that on your own,
- 1:56but I'm pretty sure Montana,
- 1:57Nebraska also October 5th,
- 1:596th you got Indiana,
- 2:00New Mexico,
- 2:00Ohio,
- 2:01and Wyoming and October 7th and Arizona.
- 2:03So it's all coming online.
- 2:03This election
- 2:04has already started,
- 2:06and I don't know if you can feel it,
- 2:07but there's a lot of tension going on.
- 2:09Let's see the predictable midterm consensus.
- 2:11Where do we stand on that puppy today?
- 2:13Uh,
- 2:13we've got,
- 2:14uh,
- 2:14the model here,
- 2:15um,
- 2:15and this is it.
- 2:16Predictable midterm.
- 2:17By the way,
- 2:17it's a free resource for you to look at the
- 2:19House and Senate,
- 2:20uh,
- 2:20battle.
- 2:21Uh,
- 2:21let's see,
- 2:22is there any new,
- 2:23uh,
- 2:23stuff there we go.
- 2:2386.7% chance
- 2:25for the Democrats to win the House,
- 2:27a 13.3% chance,
- 2:29uh,
- 2:29for Republicans on the Senate,
- 2:316138.
- 2:33I mean,
- 2:33you look at that,
- 2:34it's a little bit leaning towards the Democrats.
- 2:37I kind of still disagree with that,
- 2:39you know,
- 2:39I'm not selling my positions.
- 2:40I have a position on Republicans to win the Senate,
- 2:42which I'm down on.
- 2:44Uh,
- 2:44I have some Republican positions there,
- 2:46uh,
- 2:46but,
- 2:47you know,
- 2:47look,
- 2:48the mark the again,
- 2:49the predictable midterm consensus,
- 2:50the PMC
- 2:52is not the STU.
- 2:53Um,
- 2:53it's not my opinion,
- 2:54and none of my opinions are in there.
- 2:56You can see though,
- 2:56uh,
- 2:57below that where the markets disagree
- 2:59with the,
- 3:00uh,
- 3:01House and Senate.
- 3:01Uh,
- 3:01we have those little
- 3:02fancy green boxes to show you what the gap is.
- 3:04Not much of a gap in the Senate,
- 3:05honestly,
- 3:06pretty,
- 3:06pretty close to.
- 3:07Uh,
- 3:07the PMC,
- 3:08but you see a 54,
- 3:10uh,
- 3:105 and 6 point gap basically
- 3:12between Calci and Polymarket,
- 3:14uh,
- 3:14when it comes
- 3:15to,
- 3:16uh,
- 3:16the situation over there.
- 3:18So
- 3:18that's what we can do.
- 3:19By the way,
- 3:19every single state,
- 3:20uh,
- 3:20for the Senate is available to you as a premium subscriber to see those gaps.
- 3:23There's gaps in the double digits,
- 3:24uh,
- 3:25between the,
- 3:26um,
- 3:26the consensus between experts and polling and everything else,
- 3:29uh,
- 3:29as it opposed to the markets and so.
- 3:32There could be opportunities for you there.
- 3:34And if you're a trader,
- 3:35if you want to be a premium subscriber,
- 3:36we would love to have you
- 3:37at predictableshow.com.
- 3:39It's a good subscription that I think really
- 3:41winds up paying for itself when it comes to
- 3:43the education and the knowledge and all the background,
- 3:45plus,
- 3:46you know,
- 3:47hopefully,
- 3:47you're just winning trades and,
- 3:48you know,
- 3:49that's always good.
- 3:50The predictable Senate board we have up there too,
- 3:52another free resource for you.
- 3:53We talked about this a little bit yesterday.
- 3:54Um,
- 3:55you know,
- 3:55you look at,
- 3:56uh,
- 3:57Nebraska,
- 3:57by the way,
- 3:57like if I was gonna change this right now,
- 3:58I don't know if you can change it if you go to your board there,
- 4:00Adam.
- 4:01Click on there.
- 4:02Um,
- 4:03and,
- 4:03uh,
- 4:04I,
- 4:04I,
- 4:04as you can see here,
- 4:05we kind of played with a little bit of this yesterday.
- 4:06I think Nebraska has to be moved over to the lean,
- 4:09uh,
- 4:10area.
- 4:11Maine,
- 4:11uh,
- 4:12you,
- 4:12uh,
- 4:12we have,
- 4:13uh,
- 4:13with Collins,
- 4:14I would put that probably back in the toss-up.
- 4:16Uh,
- 4:16you have Michigan,
- 4:17I probably put that in the toss-up as well.
- 4:19We're just dragging these things around for fun yesterday.
- 4:21Um,
- 4:22Kansas,
- 4:23Kansas,
- 4:23I,
- 4:24you know,
- 4:24you start to wonder if Kansas should be dragged,
- 4:26dragged over to that,
- 4:27uh,
- 4:27lean category too.
- 4:29The polling there is not good for the Republican,
- 4:31even though the fundamentals of that state
- 4:33are,
- 4:33are,
- 4:34are very much in,
- 4:35uh,
- 4:35in the Republicans' favor.
- 4:37I think it's the longest,
- 4:38if I'm not mistaken,
- 4:39the longest state in the union without a Democratic senator.
- 4:42So this would be,
- 4:43you wanna talk about a big update that's that Kansas one.
- 4:46Uh,
- 4:46Ohio,
- 4:46Nebraska,
- 4:47Alaska.
- 4:47I mean,
- 4:48you could move Alaska to the toss-up as well if you wanted to.
- 4:51Just kind of playing around with these as we go.
- 4:53This is something you can just do on your own,
- 4:54by the way,
- 4:55uh,
- 4:55for fun,
- 4:56uh,
- 4:57if this is your kind of fun.
- 5:00Which I gotta admit,
- 5:00it is mine.
- 5:01I,
- 5:02you know,
- 5:02I know it's pathetic,
- 5:03but
- 5:04do I go on my own Senate board on my own website and drag these around a lot?
- 5:07Yeah,
- 5:08yeah,
- 5:08you know what?
- 5:08Yeah,
- 5:09I do.
- 5:10Uh,
- 5:10by the way,
- 5:10they added that,
- 5:11uh,
- 5:11green
- 5:12box up there for share.
- 5:13You can,
- 5:13if you click on that,
- 5:14you can share your results and,
- 5:16uh,
- 5:16and show,
- 5:17you know,
- 5:17whatever.
- 5:17You can,
- 5:18uh,
- 5:19see everything and close and copy that and,
- 5:21and,
- 5:21uh,
- 5:21put that on social media or share it to
- 5:23your friends and say I'm right and you're wrong.
- 5:26Uh,
- 5:26whatever you wanna do.
- 5:27But that's what we do here.
- 5:28We,
- 5:28we have a lot of fun with these things.
- 5:30Uh,
- 5:30you know,
- 5:30am I panicking?
- 5:31No,
- 5:31we don't panic until October 19th.
- 5:33October 19th is panic day.
- 5:35We've told you that before,
- 5:36so that's always available for you.
- 5:38You don't panic until October 19th,
- 5:40then you panic.
- 5:41OK.
- 5:42Um,
- 5:42I wanna go and,
- 5:43and,
- 5:44uh,
- 5:44look at a race we've not talked about in a while.
- 5:47We kinda have a big history with this particular race on this program.
- 5:50And I wanna walk you back through the history here
- 5:53so you can remember where we were,
- 5:55how all this turned,
- 5:56uh,
- 5:57into what,
- 5:57where we are today.
- 5:59And I have an update on this race that I'm pretty interested in.
- 6:01Let's,
- 6:02uh,
- 6:02flashback if we should.
- 6:10I would say um Nita Raman probably had the worst night.
- 6:13She got got flustered by some of the questions and
- 6:16and some of the structuring of yes no questions,
- 6:18so not not a great night for her.
- 6:22No matter what happens in this election,
- 6:24I'll never stop fighting for it,
- 6:26and I know that every single one of you won't either.
- 6:29How incredibly lucky we are.
- 6:38But I do think there's some value in Rahman
- 6:41at 9%.
- 6:42You have a lot of people who will come into that polling
- 6:44booth who would never even consider a Republican like Spencer Pratt.
- 6:47That's why I like taking those long shots.
- 6:48You take those flyers when you're talking about 578 times your money,
- 6:52maybe you hit them every once in a while,
- 6:53as we did with Ken Paxton and maybe we do with Rahman tonight.
- 6:56I'm telling you this now in advance,
- 6:58you're going to see these vote totals tightening,
- 7:00particularly in Los Angeles.
- 7:01Nitia Rahman,
- 7:03the 3rd place candidate,
- 7:04is going
- 7:05to tighten up that race with Spencer Pratt.
- 7:15We're gonna have a terrible governor too.
- 7:16Bad for the country and it's certainly bad for the people
- 7:19of California.
- 7:20I don't like,
- 7:20I'm not happy with any of that.
- 7:21But if I'm gonna have pain,
- 7:22I wanna be paid for my pain.
- 7:24I want to be
- 7:25reimbursed for all the torture I'm gonna be put through.
- 7:35All right,
- 7:35well,
- 7:35there you go.
- 7:36The look back at the Ramon Pratt Bass saga,
- 7:41and we covered this a lot actually,
- 7:43uh,
- 7:43going through this,
- 7:44you know,
- 7:44again,
- 7:44I was saying,
- 7:45hey,
- 7:45buy it 9%
- 7:47on Nithia Rahman.
- 7:49We also talked to Scottylicious.
- 7:50He's one of the biggest,
- 7:51uh,
- 7:51traders in the world on prediction markets,
- 7:53made multiple millions of dollars,
- 7:55uh,
- 7:56on them,
- 7:56and we,
- 7:57we asked him for one race he was watching closely.
- 8:00Let me,
- 8:00uh,
- 8:01show you that.
- 8:01This is from,
- 8:02I don't know,
- 8:02a month or two ago.
- 8:03Nitia Rahman is,
- 8:05uh,
- 8:05uh,
- 8:05you know,
- 8:05still in the race.
- 8:06You still have a position with her,
- 8:08uh,
- 8:08you know,
- 8:09in some ways because of what we've seen with the,
- 8:11the,
- 8:11the Democratic Socialists and,
- 8:13and the way that they have been victorious in
- 8:15a lot of these local races across the country,
- 8:18I'm a bit surprised that she's still hanging around 37,
- 8:2138%.
- 8:22Uh,
- 8:23are you still active in that market and,
- 8:25and do you,
- 8:25are you,
- 8:25do you see an upside there,
- 8:27or do you,
- 8:27or what's your feeling on it?
- 8:30I don't know if she can win.
- 8:32Uh,
- 8:33Bass is a force to be reckoned with,
- 8:35with,
- 8:35uh,
- 8:35the unions and,
- 8:37uh,
- 8:37city employee union in,
- 8:38in LA,
- 8:40and,
- 8:40uh,
- 8:42Nitia Raman seems to lack a little bit of
- 8:46charisma.
- 8:48So it's probably not something I'm gonna put hundreds of thousands of dollars on.
- 8:52I think the,
- 8:53uh,
- 8:53I think she should probably be in the 40s,
- 8:55at least the low 40s,
- 8:56so it does seem,
- 8:57she does seem
- 8:58Uh,
- 8:58inexpensive given the DSA,
- 9:01uh,
- 9:01takeover of a lot of,
- 9:03a lot of blue cities,
- 9:04but
- 9:05Uh,
- 9:06it's,
- 9:07it's worth noting
- 9:08that Karen Bass is also a democratic socialist,
- 9:12so it's not like you have a centrist republic centrist.
- 9:15Pardon me,
- 9:15centrist Democrat with Karen Bass
- 9:18and this extreme,
- 9:19you know,
- 9:19person.
- 9:21Who's going against her.
- 9:22They're both very left wing.
- 9:25Surprisingly,
- 9:26Nitia Raman had some really good proposals for small business
- 9:29to cut out a lot of bureaucracy in Los Angeles,
- 9:32and Karen Bass is known as a as a as a bureaucrat.
- 9:36So
- 9:37there,
- 9:37there are
- 9:39variables that
- 9:40aren't necessarily ideologue.
- 9:42Ideologically driven in this race
- 9:44that may come to affect things,
- 9:46uh,
- 9:47I'm gonna keep an open mind on this one and I may,
- 9:49I may add or decrease the position depending on how
- 9:52things go in the next few weeks and few months,
- 9:54and I,
- 9:55I'm,
- 9:55but I'm definitely not aping into it right now.
- 9:57It's,
- 9:58it's gonna be a close call,
- 9:59I think.
- 10:01We,
- 10:01you know,
- 10:01try to talk to,
- 10:02uh,
- 10:03big traders like Scottylicious as much as we can,
- 10:05uh,
- 10:05both,
- 10:06uh,
- 10:06in front of the camera and behind the scenes.
- 10:08Uh,
- 10:08we have a lot of conversations about these trades.
- 10:11Um,
- 10:12and,
- 10:12you know,
- 10:12we should,
- 10:13let's sketch,
- 10:13let's see if we can sketch,
- 10:14uh,
- 10:15Adam,
- 10:15ask,
- 10:15uh,
- 10:16Scottylicious if he'll come back on again and like talk to us about Ramon.
- 10:19I think he also took a position
- 10:20in Alaska that we should talk to him about.
- 10:22We,
- 10:22we need to get him back on.
- 10:23We need to talk to Scotty again,
- 10:24uh,
- 10:24Scottylicious again.
- 10:26Um,
- 10:26it's not even,
- 10:27it's not his name,
- 10:27but
- 10:28I now shortened it to Scotty.
- 10:29Sorry,
- 10:29Scotty.
- 10:30Um,
- 10:30anyway,
- 10:31uh,
- 10:32uh,
- 10:32uh,
- 10:32we,
- 10:33we want to,
- 10:34so stupid.
- 10:35Uh,
- 10:36the internet has brought us this thing where
- 10:37we just name each other weird things and,
- 10:39and this is just,
- 10:40this is just reality and we have to get,
- 10:41we have to get used to it.
- 10:42Um.
- 10:44Ramon is interesting,
- 10:45and I,
- 10:45and I,
- 10:47the way I played this market.
- 10:49Back in the day,
- 10:50I went very,
- 10:51I had a Ramon position,
- 10:52as I was saying,
- 10:53uh,
- 10:53uh,
- 10:54you know,
- 10:548 and 9 cents.
- 10:55I took a profit on that.
- 10:56Uh,
- 10:56I,
- 10:57I wound up putting most of my money in no on Spencer
- 10:59Pratt rather than going long term and really thinking about this race.
- 11:02But as I've had time to think about it.
- 11:06It's really an interesting one,
- 11:07because the the concept of Spencer Pratt even being mildly competitive
- 11:13in a place like Los Angeles,
- 11:14which he was,
- 11:15at least for 2nd place,
- 11:16I mean it was a it was a close race for 2nd.
- 11:19Was that the idea that Bass was so uniquely terrible,
- 11:22right?
- 11:23She was,
- 11:24I mean,
- 11:24the,
- 11:25the city burned to the ground under her watch while she was overseas,
- 11:28right?
- 11:28Like this is the type of thing that,
- 11:31that,
- 11:31that crushes ideology,
- 11:32and it was one of the reasons why people were optimistic for uh uh for Spencer Pratt.
- 11:36I,
- 11:37I never believed he'd get,
- 11:38he'd win that race.
- 11:41But I did have a moment of,
- 11:42hey,
- 11:42I think there's a real reason he might even get through,
- 11:45uh,
- 11:45this,
- 11:45uh,
- 11:46this first round of voting,
- 11:47and he might be competitive because,
- 11:49you know,
- 11:49he ran a good race,
- 11:50he had some good catchy ads,
- 11:51he had some buzz,
- 11:53but also like,
- 11:54it's it it,
- 11:55none of that makes a difference in a place like Los Angeles for a Republican,
- 11:59unless
- 12:00the Democrat is uniquely terrible.
- 12:02And because we had a situation with Ramon who had a terrible debate,
- 12:04we kind of noticed,
- 12:05noted that in that,
- 12:06uh,
- 12:06initial video,
- 12:08you kind of wondered,
- 12:09well,
- 12:09you know,
- 12:10could Pratt be competitive.
- 12:11I took a no position on him winning.
- 12:13We wound up getting paid on that,
- 12:15and that's kind of where I left that race.
- 12:16I didn't think that much of it.
- 12:17And,
- 12:18and,
- 12:18uh,
- 12:18and,
- 12:19and
- 12:19David,
- 12:20uh,
- 12:20Scotty,
- 12:20uh,
- 12:21Licious also mentioned this.
- 12:23Um,
- 12:24where he was saying,
- 12:24hey,
- 12:24I'm,
- 12:25I'm in this,
- 12:26uh,
- 12:27thing.
- 12:27I'm not going crazy on it,
- 12:28but I'm watching it closely.
- 12:30And I had that same feeling.
- 12:31I kind of thought,
- 12:32you know,
- 12:32gosh,
- 12:32it seems a little low for her to be 38,
- 12:3439%,
- 12:35but
- 12:35there are so many other things going on,
- 12:36I didn't watch that closely.
- 12:38Well,
- 12:38we have a new poll out,
- 12:39new poll,
- 12:40Nitia Rahman,
- 12:40and I call her Raman,
- 12:41some people call her Raman,
- 12:42whatever.
- 12:43I don't think she's a noodle.
- 12:44Some people think,
- 12:45some people call her
- 12:46the the Los Angeles noodle,
- 12:48and I don't,
- 12:49OK,
- 12:49I call her Raman.
- 12:51I don't,
- 12:52I don't know why.
- 12:53Yeah,
- 12:54we need to come up with a fun nickname for her.
- 12:56The Los Angeles Noodle is in effect.
- 12:58She's noodling her way
- 13:00to the mayoral,
- 13:01uh,
- 13:02win.
- 13:02Here she is.
- 13:03Nitia Rahman holds a lead now over Karen Bass in Newpole in LA mayoral election.
- 13:07And if you think about it this way.
- 13:09If you're,
- 13:10you're an LA voter,
- 13:11first of all,
- 13:12I'm sorry.
- 13:13I hope that they're still shipping in all of your medications because,
- 13:16uh,
- 13:16we know you're on some.
- 13:17If you're in LA you gotta be on some drugs,
- 13:19right?
- 13:20So you're in LA you're dealing with this,
- 13:22you gotta deal with the,
- 13:23with the,
- 13:23with the crazy city with crazy things going on,
- 13:25but
- 13:26you're most likely
- 13:27not a person
- 13:29who is,
- 13:30uh,
- 13:31necessarily engaged with conservative principles,
- 13:33right?
- 13:34You're on the left.
- 13:36And if you're on the left and you're looking at two candidates,
- 13:38um,
- 13:39where one is,
- 13:41uh,
- 13:41an out socialist
- 13:43endorsed by the Socialist Party,
- 13:44the DSA,
- 13:46uh,
- 13:46and
- 13:47the other option is just someone who's a really far left progressive Democrat.
- 13:53You're probably not offended by the socialist thing,
- 13:56right?
- 13:56Even if you are a big Democrat,
- 13:58the socialism thing,
- 13:59yeah,
- 13:59sure,
- 13:59it might be a little too far for some people,
- 14:01but generally speaking,
- 14:02it's not something that you just turn off like you might a Republican.
- 14:05Look,
- 14:05I'm being honest about this.
- 14:06This is,
- 14:07these are the voters of Los Angeles.
- 14:09You're talking about,
- 14:09uh,
- 14:09you know,
- 14:10a place where Donald Trump lost by 40 or 50 points.
- 14:13This is not a situation where they're considering Republican,
- 14:16uh,
- 14:16uh,
- 14:16candidates that often.
- 14:18And
- 14:19If you look at this and you say,
- 14:20well,
- 14:20wait a minute,
- 14:21if the if the first part of our analysis,
- 14:24where
- 14:25uh
- 14:26Karen Bass is uniquely terrible is true,
- 14:28which I think it is.
- 14:31Why wouldn't they vote for Nitia Rahman?
- 14:33That's kind of where I am on this race in my head right now,
- 14:36and the polls are getting there as well.
- 14:38Latest one from University of California,
- 14:40Berkeley Institute of Government Studies
- 14:43with the Los Angeles Times
- 14:44has Nitia Rahman up by
- 14:4611.
- 14:46Now,
- 14:47a massive,
- 14:48massive red flag on that 11 number I wanna give you in a second.
- 14:51You look at,
- 14:52um,
- 14:52uh,
- 14:52uh,
- 14:53Hart Research previously to that had Rahman up 5,
- 14:57a,
- 14:57uh.
- 14:58Uh,
- 14:58Nitia Rahman for mayor,
- 15:00LA 2026 poll,
- 15:01so affiliated with Rahman,
- 15:03had Bass up by 1
- 15:04in late August,
- 15:06and then earlier had Rahman up by 4 by the LA Times.
- 15:08So this poll has moved,
- 15:10if you see the two LA Times polls from May to September,
- 15:13has Rahman now ahead by 11.
- 15:16The thing I'm gonna give you on the 11-point thing is,
- 15:18uh,
- 15:18is,
- 15:19you know,
- 15:19again,
- 15:19mathematicians unite here.
- 15:2139 + 28,
- 15:2367.
- 15:25I mean there's 33% saying they're undecided or don't know.
- 15:29That's a massive,
- 15:31massive number after these candidates have been in this race for a very long time.
- 15:34So,
- 15:35warning bells there on that 11 number that,
- 15:37you know,
- 15:38if everyone comes to,
- 15:39to the Bass side at the end and said,
- 15:40I don't want socialism,
- 15:41she could easily lose this race.
- 15:44The,
- 15:45what,
- 15:45what really strikes me though in this race is our
- 15:49initial analysis on Bass as a candidate,
- 15:52that she's really,
- 15:53really bad and really,
- 15:54really disliked.
- 15:55She's done a real disservice to that,
- 15:57uh,
- 15:58city,
- 15:58and
- 15:59I don't say that lightly.
- 16:00I,
- 16:00I don't even say that as like,
- 16:02OK,
- 16:02well,
- 16:02I'm a conservative and I look at this and I say,
- 16:05well,
- 16:05I don't like any of their policies,
- 16:06which is true.
- 16:07I,
- 16:07I,
- 16:08you know,
- 16:08um,
- 16:08I,
- 16:08I,
- 16:09I don't know,
- 16:10I don't know the small business
- 16:11policies honestly that have been good.
- 16:13uh,
- 16:13I have not seen them.
- 16:14Uh,
- 16:14from Vermont,
- 16:15maybe they exist,
- 16:16uh,
- 16:16you know,
- 16:16I just haven't,
- 16:17I honestly haven't followed that as a,
- 16:18as a,
- 16:18as a policy
- 16:20sort of level,
- 16:21uh,
- 16:21all that closely.
- 16:23What I will say
- 16:24is that candidates with this profile
- 16:27have a really tough time winning elections.
- 16:29Let me give this to you.
- 16:30This is from that poll,
- 16:31LA Times.
- 16:32Now this is a poll again that shows
- 16:34that Bass is down by 11,
- 16:35so it was not a good poll for her.
- 16:37But these polls,
- 16:38these numbers are pretty consistent,
- 16:40uh,
- 16:40from what I've seen,
- 16:41or at least negative in the same way.
- 16:44The poll asked likely Los Angeles
- 16:46voters about the candidate's favorability ratings.
- 16:49Bass showed up
- 16:5128% favorable
- 16:53and 63% unfavorable.
- 16:57Now,
- 16:57one thing that we can see from history
- 17:00is when you have a race like this,
- 17:01typically what happens
- 17:03when you have an incumbent
- 17:05who is not popular,
- 17:07and a big swath of undecided voters.
- 17:11Usually what happens is they go against the incumbent.
- 17:14They say,
- 17:14OK,
- 17:15look,
- 17:15if I'm undecided,
- 17:16I know this one candidate,
- 17:17Bass,
- 17:18I don't like her very much,
- 17:20I'm undecided on where I should go.
- 17:22At the end of the day,
- 17:23people usually say,
- 17:24ah,
- 17:24screw it.
- 17:25This happened,
- 17:25by the way,
- 17:26with,
- 17:26uh,
- 17:27Donald Trump in 2016.
- 17:29You know,
- 17:29um,
- 17:29uh,
- 17:30people were,
- 17:30knew Hillary Clinton,
- 17:31they knew who she was,
- 17:32and those late breakers
- 17:34wound up breaking towards Trump
- 17:36in 2016,
- 17:37and it's one of the reasons
- 17:38he won.
- 17:39Uh,
- 17:39you could argue the same thing kind of
- 17:40happened in 2020 when Trump was already president.
- 17:43They said,
- 17:43well,
- 17:43let's try something else.
- 17:44You can argue the same thing happened in 2024
- 17:46after people had four years of Biden and people said,
- 17:48uh,
- 17:49let's try anything.
- 17:50Let's try somebody who can speak coherently.
- 17:52Um,
- 17:52that all,
- 17:53that stuff happens over and over and over again.
- 17:56When you have a 63% unfavorable rating,
- 18:01you notice a lot of people
- 18:02who are,
- 18:03uh,
- 18:03voting in this race,
- 18:04uh,
- 18:05you know,
- 18:05they look at us and they say,
- 18:06I don't necessarily have a strong opinion on who's going
- 18:08to win or where I'm gonna go on this,
- 18:10but
- 18:10I have a strong opinion on Bass.
- 18:11She sucks.
- 18:12By the way,
- 18:13uh,
- 18:13the rating for Rahman is about even,
- 18:1640% favorable,
- 18:1739% unfavorable.
- 18:20Uh,
- 18:20a couple of other things I want to point out here.
- 18:22Uh,
- 18:22this was in the analysis of the article.
- 18:24The DSA,
- 18:25this is from a guy,
- 18:26uh,
- 18:27this is from an NBC Los Angeles article.
- 18:29DSA is obviously a very far left,
- 18:31very progressive organization,
- 18:32very progressive ethos,
- 18:33said USA professor Dan Schnur,
- 18:35who teaches courses on politics and communications and leadership.
- 18:39But a lot of what people,
- 18:40but a lot of what drives it also is the need for so many young people in particular,
- 18:44for generational change.
- 18:46And in the attitude that it is time for their side of the political
- 18:49spectrum to fight back more aggressively.
- 18:51So you have that sort of fight,
- 18:52fight,
- 18:52fight thing on the left,
- 18:53right?
- 18:53They think,
- 18:54well,
- 18:54we need the fighters.
- 18:56I think that's true.
- 18:57I don't know how
- 18:58important that is for this race,
- 18:59but this part is important.
- 19:00What I'd say about this particular race is that Rahman,
- 19:03while she is still a DSA
- 19:04member,
- 19:05she's not running or winning this race
- 19:07because she's more progressive than Karen Bass.
- 19:09She's running,
- 19:09uh,
- 19:10because she represents dramatic change,
- 19:12and that more than left-right ideology is what was propelling her forward.
- 19:16Um,
- 19:17you,
- 19:17you know,
- 19:17you see this,
- 19:18and we're seeing some of the data from other areas.
- 19:20Um,
- 19:21the Palisades is furious with Karen Bass.
- 19:22Nitia Rahman is still a hard sell.
- 19:24They're not necessarily the typical socialists
- 19:27in that particular area,
- 19:28but they're saying,
- 19:29hey,
- 19:29normally I would rather go with an
- 19:31establishment Democrat or a left-wing establishment Democrat,
- 19:34but my house
- 19:35is currently rubble
- 19:37and has been for multiple years.
- 19:40So no,
- 19:41I'm not gonna put her back in.
- 19:43It's not an easy sell for a socialist.
- 19:45However,
- 19:46when your house has been reduced to concrete slab.
- 19:51Maybe you make an odd decision.
- 19:55And this I think is the more important thing,
- 19:57because we've seen this happen already and we have not seen any of the negative,
- 20:00really negative consequences yet that I believe will come
- 20:03from a guy like Mom Donnie in New York.
- 20:05Los Angeles is on the cusp of its mom Donnie
- 20:08moment.
- 20:09Number 1,
- 20:10it fits and it gives a great bookmark to this election season to have
- 20:14Mom Donnie win and run New York and
- 20:16Ramon win and win in Los Angeles,
- 20:18and I can't think of any negative consequences that could possibly
- 20:21come from turning over our two largest cities to socialists.
- 20:25What could possibly go wrong?
- 20:28That being said,
- 20:28I have a different analysis than a lot of people on this one,
- 20:31and I gotta say
- 20:33right now.
- 20:35I think Ramon is a good buy.
- 20:37This is where this race looks like at the moment.
- 20:39I think I'm gonna get.
- 20:41I
- 20:41get back into it.
- 20:43Just,
- 20:43uh,
- 20:44just give me one moment here.
- 20:45Uh,
- 20:46do we have the market?
- 20:47Let's bring that up.
- 20:48Uh,
- 20:49here we go.
- 20:51Rahman is now at 58%.
- 20:53You see the latest switch,
- 20:55which has happened over the last few rounds of polling,
- 20:57where Rahman has taken the lead
- 20:59and now,
- 21:00uh,
- 21:00leads 58 to 41%.
- 21:02If you go back a few,
- 21:03a couple of weeks,
- 21:04you see it was the opposite,
- 21:05basically a 65-35 race.
- 21:07And when we talked to Scotty Licious about this,
- 21:09he was,
- 21:10he was in there like 38,
- 21:12you know,
- 21:1237 or so in that general range.
- 21:15I think
- 21:16even though she's popped in the recent
- 21:18poll with
- 21:18thinking of this analysis and the way that this race
- 21:21should play out,
- 21:22I really like her at 58,
- 21:23frankly.
- 21:24In fact,
- 21:24uh,
- 21:25you know,
- 21:25as we're sitting here,
- 21:27Uh,
- 21:27and I'm,
- 21:28uh,
- 21:29I'm with you.
- 21:30I'm,
- 21:30I'm hosting this right now,
- 21:32um.
- 21:33I'm,
- 21:34I'm just gonna do this right here as we're
- 21:37just doing a little,
- 21:38it's a little,
- 21:39I mean,
- 21:39look.
- 21:41We're we're all friends here,
- 21:42and take a little position on Ramon.
- 21:45Uh,
- 21:45and I think I gotta get back into that race because I think honestly,
- 21:48at this price,
- 21:49it's a pretty good value.
- 21:50Now,
- 21:50she's not
- 21:52a great candidate.
- 21:52And if,
- 21:53you know,
- 21:53I don't know,
- 21:54I haven't looked at the debate schedule yet.
- 21:55That's why I only took a small position there.
- 21:57Um,
- 21:57uh,
- 21:57but I,
- 21:58I,
- 21:59she,
- 21:59if she has another debate,
- 22:00she could screw this up again.
- 22:02She's not a shoo-in,
- 22:03but I do like 50.
- 22:03I think she's more,
- 22:04uh,
- 22:0470.
- 22:06Why not?
- 22:07Why wouldn't she win this race?
- 22:09They hate Karen Bass,
- 22:1063% unfavorable.
- 22:12By the way,
- 22:12there's another market where they did a combo on this.
- 22:14I want to show you this real quick.
- 22:15This is LA mayor
- 22:16and California governor.
- 22:17Um,
- 22:18yeah,
- 22:18and it's Nitia Rahman and Javier Becerra.
- 22:23It's 63 right now,
- 22:25so you're getting it's interesting.
- 22:28Uh,
- 22:2863% chance it's Ramon and Becerra,
- 22:31but it's only 50,
- 22:34what was it,
- 22:3458 for just Ramon by herself?
- 22:37It's a fascinating one.
- 22:38Yeah,
- 22:38I mean,
- 22:39because Becera,
- 22:39look,
- 22:40I,
- 22:40you know,
- 22:40I,
- 22:40I'd like Hilton to win that race.
- 22:41I don't think that's gonna happen.
- 22:43Uh,
- 22:43but that's where we are right now in those two.
- 22:44I like those combos.
- 22:45I can get myself into those combos a little bit.
- 22:48Sometimes they're dangerous,
- 22:48I will admit.
- 22:50Uh,
- 22:50but sometimes they're not.
- 22:51Sometimes they're,
- 22:51they're interesting to watch.
- 22:53So that's where I am right now.
- 22:53I'm,
- 22:54I'm back in that market.
- 22:55I'm back in on Nitia Rahman,
- 22:57the,
- 22:57the Los Angeles noodle.
- 22:59She's on my,
- 22:59I,
- 23:00let's go noodle.
- 23:01Look,
- 23:03LA's already burned to the ground once.
- 23:04I don't see how it could possibly get any worse.
- 23:07What do I care who runs that city?
- 23:08Uh,
- 23:09I'd rather profit off of it.
- 23:10Hopefully,
- 23:10you're in that same position.
- 23:11If you think,
- 23:12by the way,
- 23:12if you think Karen Bass is gonna come back and win that,
- 23:14that's really good value on Bass.
- 23:16Uh,
- 23:17because,
- 23:17uh,
- 23:17you know,
- 23:18she has
- 23:19what you would think is all the resources and that and those sort of,
- 23:22uh,
- 23:22values,
- 23:22um,
- 23:23you know,
- 23:23the,
- 23:24the,
- 23:24the incumbency advantages.
- 23:26I just think in this particular situation,
- 23:28in this
- 23:28scene in that city
- 23:30where half of it's still like,
- 23:32uh,
- 23:32you know,
- 23:32a bunch of rubble
- 23:33and and occasional palm tree standing up inside
- 23:36of what used to be multi-million dollar houses.
- 23:38I don't know,
- 23:39man.
- 23:39I'm pretty skeptical on her chances to win that race.
- 23:42As long as it stays quiet,
- 23:43Ramon just needs to stay out of the news.
- 23:45She probably walks to victory.
- 23:47She could get in there and say something stupid as well and screw this up,
- 23:50but 57,
- 23:5158%,
- 23:52I like the value there.
- 23:53OK,
- 23:53we're gonna take a break,
- 23:54come back on the other side.
- 23:54We have another candidate I wanna get to where
- 23:56the value seems really,
- 23:57really good.
- 23:58I gotta be honest with you.
- 24:00But are,
- 24:00is there,
- 24:02is there more to it?
- 24:03We'll get into that next.
- 24:23All right,
- 24:23it's time for candidate countdown.
- 24:25Every day,
- 24:26we come up with a new candidate,
- 24:27uh,
- 24:28that I like,
- 24:29uh,
- 24:30a position that I wanna take in a prediction market.
- 24:34Uh,
- 24:34I have over 350.
- 24:36Now,
- 24:36positions,
- 24:37something like that in prediction markets.
- 24:39They're all up at predictableShow.com.
- 24:41If you're a premium subscriber,
- 24:42you can just see them.
- 24:43You don't have to wait for candidate countdown.
- 24:45You don't have to wait for me to blab about it on the show.
- 24:47You can go in there and say,
- 24:47hey,
- 24:48this,
- 24:48this position looks really good.
- 24:49I wanna jump on that bandwagon with Stu
- 24:51or that position looks like uh he's a moron.
- 24:53I'm gonna go the opposite way.
- 24:56We've been talking about this,
- 24:57uh,
- 24:58you know,
- 24:58for a while.
- 24:58We've done a bunch of candidates.
- 25:00Some of,
- 25:00I will say some of them,
- 25:02after we've talked about them,
- 25:04have had their worst news of the campaign.
- 25:06It's been like 5 different times this has happened during this segment.
- 25:09So,
- 25:10I am a little nervous anytime I go in on a
- 25:13candidate because I'm afraid I'm going to ruin their political careers.
- 25:16Or
- 25:17we can be strategic with that particular power
- 25:19and see what happens there as well.
- 25:21Um,
- 25:21OK,
- 25:21so we have 35 days until the election.
- 25:24Our candidate countdown
- 25:25candidate of the day with 35 days left.
- 25:27We do a daily pick on,
- 25:29uh,
- 25:29every day until election day.
- 25:31And our candidate countdown candidate of the day is.
- 25:35Dan Osborne in Nebraska,
- 25:38most specifically,
- 25:40it's a very important detail here,
- 25:42the no position.
- 25:44On Dan Osborne,
- 25:45you might say,
- 25:46well,
- 25:46why wouldn't you just take the yes position on Ricketts.
- 25:50There's a very clear reason for that.
- 26:11Yes.
- 26:12Instead of taking yes positions
- 26:15on uh on candidates I might want to win,
- 26:18I'm taking no positions on the ones I want to lose,
- 26:21hoping the candidate curse will then strike them down.
- 26:26Look,
- 26:26it wasn't me who came up with this idea,
- 26:28it was one of you,
- 26:29OK?
- 26:29I,
- 26:30you're like,
- 26:31hey,
- 26:31if you keep cursing these candidates,
- 26:32uh,
- 26:33why don't you just go no on the candidates you'd rather have lose.
- 26:35So that's what we're trying today.
- 26:37I'm,
- 26:38this is a a a a position where I believe the no position
- 26:42on,
- 26:43uh,
- 26:44Dan Osborne is a pretty good spot.
- 26:47And,
- 26:47and if you look at just polling,
- 26:48you might be a little nervous on this,
- 26:49but I wanna walk you through a deeper analysis on this and some really big
- 26:53recent developments that have gone on here in the last like 24 to 48 hours.
- 26:57Um,
- 26:57let me give you a couple of things.
- 26:58One of the reasons why I think this is,
- 27:00uh,
- 27:00um,
- 27:01a,
- 27:01a,
- 27:01a good position to go,
- 27:02no on Dan Osborne in Nebraska.
- 27:05Uh,
- 27:05he's quote unquote,
- 27:07an independent.
- 27:08We talked yesterday,
- 27:09we went through the rise of the fake independents yesterday.
- 27:12These fake independents are all over the country.
- 27:14And the,
- 27:15the only one that really seems like they have
- 27:16a chance of winning is Osborne in Nebraska.
- 27:19One of the reasons why it's a problem,
- 27:22uh,
- 27:23for,
- 27:23uh,
- 27:24for Republicans is like,
- 27:25you know,
- 27:25people just don't,
- 27:26if you're a Republican,
- 27:27you've been a Republican your whole life,
- 27:28you'd never vote for a Democrat,
- 27:30that's just the way your family's been,
- 27:31you've always been that way.
- 27:32Well,
- 27:32an independent,
- 27:33maybe I could talk myself into,
- 27:34and so it's a,
- 27:35it's an interesting strategy and probably a good strategy for Democrats.
- 27:38However,
- 27:39just so you know,
- 27:40it is a,
- 27:40yeah,
- 27:41this is a fake,
- 27:42he's just a fake independent.
- 27:43He's a Democrat.
- 27:44Um,
- 27:45he's,
- 27:45people keep asking him,
- 27:46well,
- 27:46who are you gonna caucus with?
- 27:47And he's like,
- 27:47oh,
- 27:48nobody,
- 27:49everybody all over the,
- 27:50who would I caucus with?
- 27:51Everybody.
- 27:52That's this new thing.
- 27:53First it was nobody,
- 27:54now it's everybody.
- 27:56OK,
- 27:57OK.
- 27:58Now,
- 27:58again,
- 27:59how,
- 28:00look,
- 28:00forget who he's caucusing with,
- 28:01whatever dumb definition they have these days of what that term means.
- 28:05The bottom line is who's he gonna vote with?
- 28:06He's gonna vote with Democrats over and over and
- 28:09over and over and over and over again.
- 28:12And if you want a Democratic senator,
- 28:14you pick Dan Osborne.
- 28:15If you don't,
- 28:16you go the opposite way.
- 28:19Now,
- 28:19Osborne,
- 28:20I do,
- 28:20look,
- 28:20I gotta be honest with you,
- 28:21I don't like the guy.
- 28:22I don't like the guy.
- 28:23I don't,
- 28:23I,
- 28:23the strategy,
- 28:24while it might be an effective electoral strategy,
- 28:26it might be a smart move for the Democratic Party,
- 28:29is really irritating to me as a human being.
- 28:31Like the fact that they're just coming out here and
- 28:33blatantly lying to voters and trying to manipulate them.
- 28:35I don't like it.
- 28:36I don't like him.
- 28:37I don't like the way he acts.
- 28:38I don't like
- 28:39the way he thinks about people.
- 28:41I,
- 28:41I,
- 28:41you know,
- 28:42he,
- 28:42he,
- 28:42he,
- 28:43look,
- 28:43he is,
- 28:44if you remember back in the 2008 campaign.
- 28:47Uh,
- 28:47Barack Obama came up and he said,
- 28:49oh gosh,
- 28:49you know,
- 28:49these people,
- 28:50and he said it,
- 28:51I would say in a somewhat,
- 28:53to give him a break,
- 28:55somewhat kind way.
- 28:56It was like,
- 28:57you know,
- 28:57these people,
- 28:59uh,
- 28:59they're just,
- 29:00uh,
- 29:01they,
- 29:01they're just thinking about their gods and their guns,
- 29:04and,
- 29:04you know,
- 29:05they're all scared about illegal immigrants and,
- 29:07you know,
- 29:07you have to understand that's why they won't necessarily vote for me right away,
- 29:10but I'll win them over.
- 29:11Like that was kind of his vibe.
- 29:13Hillary Clinton attempted the same type of thing with the uh what was it uh
- 29:17look there's a basket of deplorables over there and you know some of those
- 29:20people we're never gonna get but some of the good ones we'll get.
- 29:24That that's basically what just happened with Dan Osborne.
- 29:27He was caught on tape
- 29:28saying very similar things.
- 29:30Now again,
- 29:31if this guy was an independent,
- 29:33he would not be talking this way.
- 29:35Um,
- 29:36he,
- 29:37he's making excuses as to why anyone would vote for a Republican.
- 29:40Democrats backed an independent in Nebraska.
- 29:42Leaked tapes make him a risky bet.
- 29:45He said that,
- 29:46uh,
- 29:47the,
- 29:47now again,
- 29:48we're supposed to believe this guy's an independent.
- 29:51He's not a Democrat.
- 29:53Remember the border?
- 29:54Do you care about that if you're in Nebraska?
- 29:55Do you remember the border?
- 29:57The border wall?
- 29:58What was he saying about the border wall?
- 30:01He called it a symbol of racism.
- 30:03Does that sound like an independent or does that sound like a Democrat?
- 30:11He also went on to say,
- 30:13um,
- 30:13he's talking about Trump voters.
- 30:16Uh,
- 30:16and he said,
- 30:17Billy Bob in effing Red Cloud,
- 30:19Nebraska,
- 30:20who lives next door to the effing Trump store,
- 30:22as you pull into town and he's waving his Trump flag,
- 30:25and all he knows,
- 30:27again,
- 30:27they always have to be stupid.
- 30:29If they won't support that Democrat,
- 30:31uh,
- 30:31or the independent,
- 30:33they must be stupid.
- 30:33And now you see why they think this tactic will work.
- 30:37Cause they think you're dumb.
- 30:41All he thinks,
- 30:42all he knows is
- 30:44all these morons know is blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.
- 30:47They think you're an idiot,
- 30:49they think you can't see through the eye.
- 30:52They think you're gonna see a guy who's blatantly a Democrat posing as a Republican,
- 30:58and they think it's gonna work.
- 31:00I don't know,
- 31:01Nebraska,
- 31:01maybe it will,
- 31:02I don't know.
- 31:03I have much more faith in you than that.
- 31:05Especially when you're trying it for the 2nd time,
- 31:07the 2nd election in a row.
- 31:09Um,
- 31:10anyway,
- 31:10he goes on and says,
- 31:11uh,
- 31:12you know,
- 31:12you,
- 31:12all he knows is like he's on the winning team.
- 31:15He,
- 31:15uh,
- 31:15Trump has been so effective in taking Billy Bob
- 31:18and Mary Jane or Mary Joe and telling them,
- 31:21look,
- 31:22you're on the winning team,
- 31:23and that's all they care about cause their lives probably suck.
- 31:28That's what he said about you in Nebraska.
- 31:31That's who this guy is.
- 31:34Independent,
- 31:35my ass,
- 31:36independent.
- 31:37Look,
- 31:37just be honest about who you are.
- 31:39Look,
- 31:39I try to win on your own merits.
- 31:41Stop trying to fool people.
- 31:43I get that it's a good electoral strategy.
- 31:45There's a part of me,
- 31:46a dark part of me that even mildly admires
- 31:50the chutzpah,
- 31:51but please,
- 31:53please.
- 31:54Anyway,
- 31:56that's the candidate.
- 31:56Now,
- 31:57uh,
- 31:57elected officials across,
- 31:58uh,
- 31:58rural Nebraska are pissed off about this.
- 32:00They penned an open letter to Dan Osborne telling him,
- 32:02hey,
- 32:02explain yourself.
- 32:04And why you're such a jerk and saying
- 32:06no one,
- 32:07none of these voters know what they're talking about and their lives suck.
- 32:11Uh,
- 32:11this is what the polls look for,
- 32:13and,
- 32:13and look,
- 32:13the polls have been really,
- 32:14really close enough to put it in a toss-up category.
- 32:17Um,
- 32:18Wedgwood has it at Ricketts +4.
- 32:20It's been the best poll in a while for Ricketts.
- 32:23Osborne +1,
- 32:24Osborne + 1,
- 32:25even and even.
- 32:26That goes back to end of,
- 32:27end of July.
- 32:27So this is a very close race.
- 32:29Um.
- 32:31Let me give you a couple of points though,
- 32:33which kind of won me over on this one.
- 32:36Uh,
- 32:36Ricketts has
- 32:37already a known figure in the state,
- 32:39and
- 32:39he's done very,
- 32:40very well.
- 32:41His last three statewide races,
- 32:43he's won by double digits.
- 32:44He won by 18
- 32:46in 2014.
- 32:472000,
- 32:48again,
- 32:48pretty good year for Republicans.
- 32:49However,
- 32:50pretty bad year for Republicans in 2018,
- 32:52he won again by 18 points.
- 32:54So,
- 32:55he actually improved his standing,
- 32:57uh,
- 32:57between 2014 and 2018.
- 32:59In 2024,
- 33:00he won by 25.
- 33:02So this is a guy who usually wins
- 33:04in Nebraska.
- 33:05Uh,
- 33:05he got 62.6% of the vote.
- 33:08Uh,
- 33:08he,
- 33:09uh,
- 33:10was in 2024 when Osborne was there,
- 33:13he also
- 33:14ran,
- 33:14uh,
- 33:14for,
- 33:15uh,
- 33:15governor,
- 33:16as I mentioned,
- 33:16he won by,
- 33:17uh,
- 33:17uh,
- 33:17Senate in 2024.
- 33:19He won by,
- 33:19uh,
- 33:1925 points.
- 33:21Um,
- 33:22uh,
- 33:23yeah.
- 33:24Uh,
- 33:25and then in 20,
- 33:26uh,
- 33:26in that same race,
- 33:27remember there's two races,
- 33:28uh,
- 33:28in that particular election.
- 33:30Deb Fisher was the other race,
- 33:32Fisher went up against Osborne.
- 33:33They targeted.
- 33:35Uh,
- 33:35Osborne targeted with his independent candidacy,
- 33:38targeted Fisher because he saw her as the weaker candidate.
- 33:41Now he comes back in a different environment,
- 33:43uh,
- 33:44no question,
- 33:44a more favorable,
- 33:45uh,
- 33:46environment for Democrats,
- 33:47but comes back and now they're targeting who they
- 33:49saw as a stronger candidate who was Ricketts.
- 33:51Um,
- 33:52Ricketts won,
- 33:53uh,
- 33:53and outperformed Fisher by a wide margin last time in just a,
- 33:57just a couple of years ago.
- 33:59Um,
- 34:00Trump,
- 34:00uh,
- 34:00carried Nebraska by 20.5 points in 2024.
- 34:04Uh,
- 34:04obviously this is a red state.
- 34:05I don't need to tell you that.
- 34:06The registration part though is one of the things that won me over the most.
- 34:10Registration in Nebraska goes like this.
- 34:13There are 620,000 Republicans registered in Nebraska.
- 34:17There are 328,000 Democrats.
- 34:21You might say,
- 34:21well,
- 34:21you know,
- 34:22again,
- 34:22he's running as an independent.
- 34:23True.
- 34:23There are 282,000,
- 34:26uh,
- 34:26nonpartisan voters,
- 34:28OK.
- 34:30Uh,
- 34:30you add those up.
- 34:33You add up
- 34:35All the Democrats
- 34:37and all the independents,
- 34:38you get all of them,
- 34:39which obviously you won't do,
- 34:41you won't get all the independents.
- 34:43Uh,
- 34:44you add them all up and you still don't equal up
- 34:46to just what you have in Republicans in the state.
- 34:49That is a pretty remarkable situation there.
- 34:53It's close between those two groups.
- 34:55If you take Republicans versus Democrats plus Independents,
- 34:57it's close,
- 34:58but there's still more Republicans
- 35:00in the state of Nebraska.
- 35:01That's how red the state is.
- 35:03Um,
- 35:03Ricketts also,
- 35:04uh,
- 35:05he,
- 35:05he's from a very wealthy family,
- 35:06the owner of the Chicago Cubs,
- 35:08they have lots and lots of money.
- 35:09Uh,
- 35:09so
- 35:10not only does he raise money very well,
- 35:11but also has a lot of money if he needs it,
- 35:13uh,
- 35:13has much more campaign cash,
- 35:15um,
- 35:15and,
- 35:16uh,
- 35:16he is now leading in the most recent poll.
- 35:19If you want to look at the case against him,
- 35:20Osborne was close.
- 35:21He was only,
- 35:21only lost by 7 last time.
- 35:23This is a much more favorable environment for Democrats.
- 35:25Um,
- 35:26you know,
- 35:26you have,
- 35:27uh,
- 35:28Ricketts's favorability is not
- 35:30wonderful.
- 35:31Uh,
- 35:32he was at 43% favorable,
- 35:3350% unfavorable.
- 35:35For a guy who's been around for a long time,
- 35:37those aren't terrible numbers.
- 35:38Um,
- 35:39when you have a guy who's been around for,
- 35:40for multiple elections,
- 35:42oftentimes people get a little tired of them,
- 35:43and that is a vulnerability for Ricketts potentially.
- 35:46Um.
- 35:48Let's see.
- 35:48Anything else in my notes here that I wanna hit
- 35:50you with cause we're running a little bit late.
- 35:53Uh,
- 35:55Osborne's campaign is getting more
- 35:57small donations,
- 35:58which sometimes is a measure of enthusiasm.
- 36:00It's also getting a lot of out of state donations because he's seen as a potential,
- 36:04uh,
- 36:04turning point in the Senate,
- 36:06so.
- 36:06Uh,
- 36:06you get that as well.
- 36:08But again,
- 36:08money should not be an issue for,
- 36:09uh,
- 36:09Ricketts,
- 36:10who does,
- 36:10uh,
- 36:11who uses it very well.
- 36:11So what does this market look like?
- 36:12Right now,
- 36:13it looks like this,
- 36:14uh,
- 36:1470% chance for 71% chance for Pete Ricketts to win.
- 36:18Dan Osborne is at 28%.
- 36:19That is slightly
- 36:21up for Ricketts,
- 36:22slightly down
- 36:23for Osborne.
- 36:24Uh,
- 36:24in the last few days,
- 36:25but not a massive change
- 36:28for,
- 36:28uh,
- 36:29give me that little,
- 36:29give me the last month or so here,
- 36:31Adam,
- 36:31on this,
- 36:32uh,
- 36:32particular chart.
- 36:33Go to the go to the closest point it was,
- 36:35which was,
- 36:35you know,
- 36:36September,
- 36:37a week or two ago.
- 36:38You kind of see here,
- 36:39you know,
- 36:40Ricketts was as low as 68.
- 36:42Um,
- 36:43that's about it.
- 36:44So it's moved a few points,
- 36:462 to 3 points over the past few days.
- 36:48Uh,
- 36:49I really just think that Nebraska,
- 36:51people in Nebraska are gonna see through this.
- 36:53In fact,
- 36:53I'm gonna do this as we're.
- 36:56I keep doing this and this is probably not
- 36:57what you're supposed to do on the television show,
- 36:59but I'm just thinking as I,
- 37:00as I'm thinking about it,
- 37:02uh,
- 37:02Osborne.
- 37:05Uh,
- 37:06Nebraska.
- 37:09I can't type,
- 37:09you know,
- 37:10as I get older,
- 37:11I get
- 37:12worse and worse at this.
- 37:14I'm actually getting all sorts of football stuff.
- 37:16I'm gonna have to do that a little bit separately.
- 37:17Uh,
- 37:17but Ricketts,
- 37:18uh,
- 37:19I'm not gonna say Ricketts,
- 37:20yes,
- 37:20is the candidate of the day,
- 37:21no,
- 37:21no.
- 37:22The candidate of the day
- 37:23is no
- 37:25on Dan Osborne.
- 37:26And I think,
- 37:27you know,
- 37:28look at,
- 37:29if you're going in,
- 37:30you're taking
- 37:31somebody at 70,
- 37:32you're getting 30 cents profit on every 70 cents you invest.
- 37:35That's a 42.9%,
- 37:37uh,
- 37:37profit margin.
- 37:38Um,
- 37:39and so that is a really nice profit in 5 weeks.
- 37:41I don't need to tell you that.
- 37:42Now,
- 37:42I don't,
- 37:43I,
- 37:43I,
- 37:43this is not a guaranteed win.
- 37:44I don't think for sure he's going to win.
- 37:45I think this is gonna be relatively close,
- 37:47but I do think at the end of the day,
- 37:49uh,
- 37:50people come home.
- 37:51It's one of our thesis statements as the election approaches,
- 37:53people start to come home.
- 37:55I think Ricketts squeaks this one out,
- 37:57uh,
- 37:57and I like the value at 70 cents.
- 37:59I don't think I would buy it above.
- 38:0280 to 85.
- 38:04I,
- 38:05I,
- 38:05you know,
- 38:0585,
- 38:06I'd be nervous to buy more.
- 38:07Uh,
- 38:0770,
- 38:08I still like it.
- 38:09So,
- 38:09that's where I am right now.
- 38:10Um,
- 38:11the candidate of the day is the no position
- 38:14on Dan Osborne,
- 38:15the independent.
- 38:17From Nebraska.
- 38:31You know,
- 38:31a really sad statement about our country with all the election stuff going on.
- 38:34We're only 5 weeks away,
- 38:35and some people waste time watching
- 38:38football.
- 38:39Uh,
- 38:39I find it to be disgusting
- 38:41and,
- 38:41uh,
- 38:41in,
- 38:41in a,
- 38:42in a moment like this,
- 38:43in a country like this,
- 38:44at a time like this,
- 38:45I will not lower myself to watch Monday Night Football.
- 38:49No,
- 38:49I'm not gonna do that.
- 38:50I don't even know what happened.
- 38:51Uh,
- 38:51in fact,
- 38:52what do I care anyway?
- 38:55Well,
- 38:56all right,
- 38:56well,
- 38:56so the Eagles lost and they lost terribly and they looked awful.
- 38:59OK,
- 38:59that's what happened,
- 39:00all right?
- 39:01You wanna celebrate,
- 39:02you wanna mock me for my pain?
- 39:04Go ahead,
- 39:04go ahead.
- 39:06They lost 27 to 7
- 39:08to the Bears
- 39:09and their third string quarterback,
- 39:11who,
- 39:11by the way,
- 39:12looked incredible.
- 39:13Let's be honest about it.
- 39:14Yes,
- 39:14the Eagles sucked.
- 39:15Yes,
- 39:15they looked bad.
- 39:16Case Keenum looked like the greatest quarterback of all time,
- 39:19and he's done that occasionally in his career.
- 39:21If one of the fun things,
- 39:22if you just,
- 39:22this is separate from prediction markets,
- 39:24but if you just want to go back and look at some fun stats,
- 39:25go back and look at,
- 39:26particularly his senior year
- 39:28at Houston.
- 39:30It's the most amazing thing.
- 39:31He's over 500 yards multiple times in that season.
- 39:35Uh,
- 39:35they're scoring over 70 points in games.
- 39:37It was just like,
- 39:38oh,
- 39:38it was a fun era of college football,
- 39:40man.
- 39:40I,
- 39:40I love those offenses.
- 39:42And he has,
- 39:42I think,
- 39:42basically every record,
- 39:44uh,
- 39:44imaginable in college football when it comes to passing yards.
- 39:47I always liked Case Keenum.
- 39:48Uh,
- 39:48I did not like him last night that much,
- 39:50but he was great.
- 39:51He was fantastic,
- 39:51even,
- 39:52uh,
- 39:52he has even played in 3 years and he still looked great.
- 39:54Uh,
- 39:55overall though,
- 39:56I want to point this back to what I've said to you,
- 39:58and I said to you multiple times,
- 39:59and like,
- 40:00I will hedge my life.
- 40:02It's one of the things I do on prediction markets.
- 40:04For things I really want to happen,
- 40:05I often,
- 40:06even blindly,
- 40:07even if I think the thing I want to happen is going to happen,
- 40:10I will go in and I will take a position against it,
- 40:12cause I'm hedging my life.
- 40:13Why?
- 40:14I wanna get paid for my pain.
- 40:15I want,
- 40:16if the Philadelphia Eagles are gonna go 8 and,
- 40:18you know,
- 40:199
- 40:20this year.
- 40:21I should be paid for that.
- 40:22I have to sit there and watch 3 hours of that season,
- 40:25every single week.
- 40:26I should be compensated
- 40:28for my troubles,
- 40:29OK?
- 40:30So I will do that.
- 40:31However,
- 40:32I will also tell you when I think it's actually true.
- 40:35And in this case,
- 40:37I gotta be honest with you,
- 40:38I've watched these guys play for 3,
- 40:40games.
- 40:40Their,
- 40:40their offense at times has looked OK.
- 40:43Their defense,
- 40:43which is supposed to be great,
- 40:45and honestly I thought was going to be very,
- 40:46very good,
- 40:47looks terrible so far.
- 40:48Terrible.
- 40:51There,
- 40:51this is not a team that's winning 13 games this season.
- 40:55Will they squeak into the playoffs?
- 40:56It's possible.
- 40:57I could see him going 10 and 7,
- 40:59maybe,
- 40:59maybe even 11 and 6.
- 41:01I could also see him going in 8 and 9 or 7 and 10.
- 41:03Like they are one of those teams.
- 41:04They're in the middle.
- 41:05If things break the right way,
- 41:06if injuries go the right way,
- 41:08they could squeak into the playoffs,
- 41:09but I do not think that they're,
- 41:11uh,
- 41:11I just don't think this is the year.
- 41:12This is the market for,
- 41:14uh,
- 41:14wins for the Philadelphia Eagles this year.
- 41:16And you see it spiking cause they,
- 41:17every time they win,
- 41:18it spikes.
- 41:19Um,
- 41:19but I got news and it spiked again when
- 41:21it looked like their second string quarterback was out.
- 41:24Uh,
- 41:24but,
- 41:25uh,
- 41:26scroll down and give me these,
- 41:27uh,
- 41:28numbers here if we go down.
- 41:29I mean,
- 41:29I was,
- 41:29I have no on a bunch of these like,
- 41:32uh,
- 41:32let's see,
- 41:33go to 1314 wins here.
- 41:35OK,
- 41:35guys,
- 41:36guys,
- 41:36guys,
- 41:37guys.
- 41:37There is not a 17% chance this team is winning 14 games this year.
- 41:42That is insane.
- 41:44That's not happening.
- 41:4513 wins,
- 41:46there's not a
- 41:4722% chance they're winning 13 games this season.
- 41:50No,
- 41:51I don't believe that at all.
- 41:52I have no positions all over the board on this.
- 41:55Now,
- 41:55you see that the prices,
- 41:56uh,
- 41:56if you look at
- 41:5814 wins,
- 41:58actually you can only get that for,
- 42:00it's only 10% chance really when it comes to the market.
- 42:03Uh,
- 42:04but
- 42:04I like a lot of no positions up here.
- 42:07If you just want,
- 42:07you want to be safe,
- 42:08take those.
- 42:08I mean,
- 42:0915 wins.
- 42:11So they're gonna only lose one game for the rest of the year?
- 42:14No,
- 42:14I don't think so.
- 42:15Get those,
- 42:16uh,
- 42:16you know,
- 42:16if you want to take some no positions,
- 42:17I would definitely look at that.
- 42:18Go back to more like 8 or 9 wins.
- 42:21Where are we on that?
- 42:22Uh,
- 42:23uh,
- 42:25let's see,
- 42:258 wins,
- 42:26you can get,
- 42:27uh,
- 42:28will they win,
- 42:29if,
- 42:29will they win 8 games?
- 42:30If you wanna,
- 42:30uh,
- 42:31I would say
- 42:319 games,
- 42:32no,
- 42:32at 23.
- 42:34It's not terrible,
- 42:35not terrible.
- 42:36I like that.
- 42:36By the way,
- 42:36we also have the playoffs,
- 42:37uh,
- 42:38there.
- 42:38By the way,
- 42:38that's just free advice from an Eagles fan.
- 42:40Um,
- 42:40uh,
- 42:41which playoff rotation has the edge?
- 42:43The most gripping wild card matchup,
- 42:45the athletic goes through a lot of this stuff.
- 42:47And I wanna just give you a quick shot because the,
- 42:48uh,
- 42:48the MLB playoffs start tonight.
- 42:50My,
- 42:50as you know,
- 42:50you already won money on my team losing the Toronto Blue Jays,
- 42:53America's team.
- 42:54Uh,
- 42:54they're out of the playoffs
- 42:55and they cannot defend their AL title.
- 42:56But,
- 42:57uh,
- 42:58the,
- 42:58the market is still out there.
- 42:59This is pro baseball champion.
- 43:01It's been active for a long time.
- 43:02Already won
- 43:03money in this market on the Blue Jays.
- 43:04No.
- 43:04Uh,
- 43:05you see the Dodgers,
- 43:05of course,
- 43:06the favorite at 31% to win.
- 43:08Milwaukee is at 17%.
- 43:09Scroll down to some of these other options here,
- 43:10Adam.
- 43:11Uh,
- 43:11Tampa,
- 43:12Tampa's at 10.6%,
- 43:13had the best record in the American League if you like that one.
- 43:16The Yankees are always gonna be up there.
- 43:17They're at 8.9%.
- 43:18Now Aaron Judge though for this first series.
- 43:20I hate these three-game series.
- 43:22They should get rid of them.
- 43:23Five games should be the absolute minimum.
- 43:24I would like them all to be seven,
- 43:25frankly.
- 43:26Uh,
- 43:26but 3 games is ridiculous.
- 43:28So God only knows what's gonna happen in this first series.
- 43:31Atlanta kind of interesting,
- 43:32you know,
- 43:33they got,
- 43:33you know,
- 43:34they got a couple.
- 43:34pitchers there and they've got,
- 43:36you know,
- 43:36like I don't know,
- 43:37kind of interesting as a longer
- 43:38shot,
- 43:38but what I like to do here is build positions on no.
- 43:41If you think there's people that are not gonna win,
- 43:43if you think Houston's no,
- 43:44Chicago's no,
- 43:45you can just start building those positions,
- 43:46taking them early
- 43:47and wiping out value and then
- 43:49hopefully,
- 43:50as you get closer,
- 43:50you can kind of,
- 43:51uh,
- 43:52collect a little bit on that.
- 43:53Uh,
- 43:53that's what I like to do on these bigger markets is try to find,
- 43:56instead of trying to find the one team you think will win,
- 43:59unless you just wanna
- 43:59have fun and go for long shots,
- 44:01take a bunch of nos,
- 44:02cause even if you miss on that,
- 44:04the other no positions will help cancel out your loss amount.
- 44:07All right,
- 44:07back in a second.
- 44:17All right,
- 44:18that's all we have time for.
- 44:18We have some really cool,
- 44:19uh,
- 44:20stuff on the website though.
- 44:21If you want to go over there and
- 44:23kind of get locked into additional information.
- 44:26The PMC,
- 44:26the predictable midterm consensus,
- 44:28is up there for you.
- 44:29It's free if you wanna look at the House and the Senate and control.
- 44:31It's very important.
- 44:32I update it
- 44:33every day or every other day,
- 44:35um,
- 44:36and it's been moving,
- 44:37uh,
- 44:37on a day to day basis.
- 44:38So it's important to give you kind of a
- 44:39sense of as where everyone thinks things are going,
- 44:41not my opinion.
- 44:42But we also separate that so you can see
- 44:44the difference between what the experts are saying,
- 44:46what the prediction markets are saying,
- 44:48to see if maybe there's value there.
- 44:49We do through all Senate races behind the paywall,
- 44:52uh,
- 44:52if you're a predictable subscriber,
- 44:54part of the predictable posse,
- 44:56you get all those.
- 44:57You also,
- 44:58uh,
- 44:58get the Senate board which is completely free for you to play around with.
- 45:00You can share it.
- 45:01We showed it to you earlier,
- 45:02uh,
- 45:03today.
- 45:03Stu's picks over.
- 45:04350 different prediction market positions that I currently hold.
- 45:08Uh,
- 45:08you get all of those if you wanna look at those and,
- 45:10and,
- 45:11you know,
- 45:11either pick them apart or whatever,
- 45:12uh,
- 45:13that's available as far as your premium chat,
- 45:14uh,
- 45:15uh,
- 45:15premium subscription.
- 45:16We have a great chat as well,
- 45:18uh,
- 45:18and a new feature coming up this week that I think you're gonna love.
- 45:20It's gonna be,
- 45:21uh,
- 45:21it's just a lot of fun,
- 45:22and I think,
- 45:23uh,
- 45:23it'll be another way to
- 45:24get engaged in the elections.
- 45:25Only 5 weeks left.
- 45:27Time is ticking.
- 45:28Time is ticking.
- 45:29We're getting very,
- 45:30very close.
- 45:30So join us,
- 45:31predictableShow.com.
- 45:32And if you're new to prediction markets,
- 45:33you don't know what any of these things are,
