- 0:01Welcome to authentic living with Roxanne, a place where we have conscious conversations
- 0:08about things that really matter in our lives.
- 0:12And now here's your host, Roxanne Derhodge.
- 0:40Thanks for tuning in again, this week.
- 0:42I have a special, I would say, bestie friend, Louis Mercier Sadler here with us, today.
- 0:49Louis has been a guest previously, my podcast going back probably one of the original ones,
- 0:54wasn't it Louis?
- 0:55Yeah.
- 0:56It was.
- 0:56Yeah.
- 0:57So Louis, brings a wealth of information to us today, but something I think, we often talk
- 1:06about, but I'm not so sure that we focus on it in day to day kind of circles.
- 1:10Maybe there are clinical circles, but, so Louise is brought, she's a clinical
- 1:15psychotherapist, and she has been in the field for over 25 years working, at a huge hospital
- 1:22system here in our our area and has specialties in addictions along with, using different
- 1:28modalities.
- 1:29But today, what the focus is that I felt would be important to focus on was more the
- 1:34unconscious.
- 1:35And there's different modalities, but today, Luis has, specialized in, as a hypnotherapist.
- 1:41Which I thought would be fascinating to chat about, because oftentimes we talk about therapy
- 1:46and we talk about kind of, you know, what's involved in therapy, but I'm not sure that
- 1:51people know the different kind of approaches to kinda what I'm gonna say bypass the
- 1:55unconscious.
- 1:55So, Luis, is there anything that I miss that, you'd like the, viewers or listeners to know
- 2:01about you?
- 2:03No.
- 2:03Basically, you know, I mean, you've covered my, my my background fairly well.
- 2:07You know, I have, I have, primarily worked in addictions, but recently sort of started just
- 2:13just kind of taking a different, approach to change the work using the power of the
- 2:19unconscious mind.
- 2:21So let's talk about that because I know, and you know, in our worlds, we talk about that.
- 2:27And, you know, to the average of a person, they're like, no.
- 2:30No.
- 2:31What do you mean?
- 2:32I I'm conscious of what I do most of the times, and we know, like, almost these days as high as
- 2:3695% of our behavior is unconscious.
- 2:39So kinda tell me, you know, when you were training and kinda when you deal with people,
- 2:45what are some of the kind of primary thoughts that you keep in mind when someone presents to
- 2:49you with an issue?
- 2:51Well, I sort of thought maybe we could sort sort of take it a, a step back.
- 2:57Cause like you said, you know, people talk about the unconscious, and I know it's
- 2:59conscious, and you're absolutely right.
- 3:01So I wanna give people the the education around the, you know, you're right.
- 3:06The unconscious mind makes up about 97% and then our conscious mind a bit, or sorry, 93%
- 3:13and our conscious mind about 7 percent.
- 3:15So if you take a if you if you think about the iceberg, you know, the old iceberg analogy, you
- 3:20know, the top that's outside of the water is about 7%.
- 3:22The rest is underneath the water.
- 3:24And what we know about about the conscious mind is it's where logic resides.
- 3:29It's where, you know, abstract thinking resides.
- 3:33It has the ability to, abs to understand abstract concepts and reasoning.
- 3:40So it's it's able to it's that critical, you know, I mean, that critical factor, right, that
- 3:44that critical faculty that we all have.
- 3:48And the unconscious is everything else.
- 3:51It is it is the our history, it is our memory, It is, all of all of the, autonomic systems.
- 4:00You know, we don't think about making our heart we don't think about breathing.
- 4:04That just happens naturally.
- 4:05So our unconscious mind takes care of all that.
- 4:08However, the interesting thing is the unconscious mind does not have it just does
- 4:13what it's told.
- 4:15It does not have the ability to reason or to consider abstract concept.
- 4:21It does what it's told.
- 4:23So that's why the whole idea of, you know, when I talk about, you know, the narrative, and how
- 4:30important a narrative is, I want you to keep that in mind because the subconscious mind is
- 4:37always Our conscious mind goes to sleep when we do, but our unconscious mind is constantly at
- 4:42work.
- 4:43It's constantly aware and proof of that is our dreaming.
- 4:47Our dreaming is our unconscious mind actually processing things via metaphors.
- 4:55To talk a little bit about narrative, because I'm not sure, you know, you and I, we're
- 5:00comfortable with this with this language, but for people listening, when you say, you know,
- 5:06what's my narrative?
- 5:07What do what do you mean by that, Luis?
- 5:08Right.
- 5:09So narrative is is basically a story.
- 5:12And in this case, it's the story you tell yourself, right?
- 5:15Cause if you consider that your unconscious mind is always paying attention, it is always
- 5:20listening.
- 5:21Right?
- 5:21And it and if you also combine that with, it does what it's told.
- 5:26So if your story
- 5:26is things like oh, I never get anything right.
- 5:31I'm such a clutch.
- 5:33Those sort of things.
- 5:35Right?
- 5:35I am anxious.
- 5:38I am depressed.
- 5:40Right?
- 5:42It it doesn't it doesn't look at anything else.
- 5:44It goes, oh, I am depressed.
- 5:46Okay.
- 5:47Right?
- 5:47Or I am a collect or that sort of thing.
- 5:50So when I talk about narrative, I talk about the story that you tell yourself with your
- 5:56internal dialogue, right, the the the voice inside your head that your own self talks, so
- 6:01to speak, and also how you speak to others about yourself.
- 6:07That's interesting, right, because you kind of think about, what do I say to myself?
- 6:11You know, now you're making me think.
- 6:13Right?
- 6:14Because, you know, A lot of people will say, well, you know, I see affirmations.
- 6:18I see, you know, I'm I'm lovely or I'm beautiful or I'm I'm competent, but they still
- 6:24have that story wrapping itself in their minds.
- 6:29Right?
- 6:29So I might be saying affirmation.
- 6:31Mhmm.
- 6:32But there's still a thought is kinda like that low grade energy of that story that I'm telling
- 6:37myself that I'm not shutting off.
- 6:39Is that what you mean?
- 6:40Well, sometimes.
- 6:41Right?
- 6:41So so, I mean, in some ways, the narrative and is is, you know, even and that's why,
- 6:50affirmations can work over time.
- 6:52Because if you tell yourself something for a long enough time and you believe it, right, you
- 6:57buy into it, right, that it would work.
- 7:00Where it wouldn't is you tell yourself affirmations.
- 7:03And after you say the affirmation inside your head, it's like, yeah.
- 7:07Right?
- 7:08Or, yeah, I don't think so, or if there's a contradicting thought, right, or contradicting,
- 7:15statement.
- 7:16So, so absolutely.
- 7:17I mean, it can work to the positive or the negative depending on what you do with that.
- 7:22Right?
- 7:23So, and and to think about that in terms of not just with respect to what you tell yourself,
- 7:30but also, Sort of what you can imagine.
- 7:36Right.
- 7:36The imagination is very powerful.
- 7:39Okay.
- 7:40And in in our world, I mean, way back when some of us were trained psychodynamically, and we
- 7:45know that that looks at the problems.
- 7:46And then along came, a plethora of of therapists, Virginia satir, and, you know, the
- 7:56the Minnesota model around the solution focus stuff.
- 7:59And we started looking at solutions.
- 8:01However, what my studies and, and what my training in hypnosis is taught me is that it's
- 8:07all about the desired state.
- 8:10What is what is the desired state, the desired outcome?
- 8:14And really focusing on that.
- 8:17So how how do you do that?
- 8:19How do you do that in hypnosis?
- 8:20Can you can you kind of walk us through you know, that the concept that's I'm saying
- 8:27certain things to myself, but in the same breath, I'm taking it away.
- 8:30So Let's say I, you know, I come to you or somebody listening comes to you.
- 8:35And let's say they're struggling with, self sabotaging, talk.
- 8:42You know, I can't achieve this.
- 8:44You know, I'm I'm not good enough, whatever.
- 8:47Right.
- 8:48But I say affirmations every day.
- 8:49You know, I'm pretty good.
- 8:50It's all over my house.
- 8:52Yeah.
- 8:53You know, like I tell people, you know, people hear about it.
- 8:56And, you know, some of the mood speakers will talk about that to put it at everywhere you can
- 8:59be, but it's still not working.
- 9:01So how would you approach something like that?
- 9:03Typically, with something like that, and and It there's something underneath.
- 9:09Right?
- 9:09So sometimes, consciously, you might be telling yourself something positive.
- 9:13You might be using affirmations.
- 9:15But there might be, a self limiting belief that's occurring at a subconscious level.
- 9:21There could be some old programming that's happening at the unconscious level.
- 9:26So part of what I would be looking for is what's underneath that, what's going on at the
- 9:30unconscious level.
- 9:31Clearing out some of those things, and then, and then putting in, you know, some, some,
- 9:38some, strengths, putting in resources.
- 9:42Sometimes part of the work with hypnosis is using the analogy of a computer.
- 9:46We have programs that were installed a long time ago that don't work for us.
- 9:53They're no longer working for us In fact, they're they're causing us problems.
- 9:57So sometimes it's about using hypnosis to get into the unconscious mind to to delete those
- 10:02programs and then to reinstall new programs that will move someone towards the vision they
- 10:10have or the life that they want to have.
- 10:13So can you define a blocking belief?
- 10:16Again, I know I'm asking things are you saying, I can't believe she's asking me this, but I I
- 10:20don't I think a lot of times, you know, we hear these things, but people may not know what it
- 10:25means.
- 10:26Right.
- 10:26So I'll give you an example from my personal life.
- 10:28Right?
- 10:30One of the one of the things I was told when I was a child and growing up was, you know, oh,
- 10:36well, you know, We're not lucky like that.
- 10:38We don't in our family, we're not lucky.
- 10:40We're we don't we don't have things like that happen to us meaning good things.
- 10:44Right?
- 10:45And I grew up like that most of the time in believing that, yeah, you know, I'm just in my
- 10:49little box and and and, you know, wonderful things don't happen to me.
- 10:53Right?
- 10:53We just that just that that happens to other people.
- 10:57And as I got to be older, and, you know, had the experiences, meeting different people,
- 11:03having different conversations, that sort of thing.
- 11:05At one point, that's the point where I thought, well, why not me?
- 11:09Who says that's true?
- 11:11Who says, you know, we don't our family isn't like that?
- 11:14Who why not me?
- 11:17Right?
- 11:18So that's an example of a, of a, of a, of a thought or a, a self limiting belief.
- 11:23Right?
- 11:24And from the time that I challenged that belief.
- 11:29And once they started challenging it and being open to different things and even just being
- 11:35open to it, My life changed quite dramatically, actually.
- 11:39Mhmm.
- 11:40Right?
- 11:40And you know that, like, you know, the changes that happened in my life.
- 11:42So, you know, I went from small town girl kind of stuff.
- 11:45And the next thing I knew, I was traveling all over the world and doing all kinds of things
- 11:50and, and, you know, having a, you know, quite a change, quite a drastic change in my life.
- 11:56Yeah.
- 11:56That's a that's a really good example.
- 11:59Right?
- 11:59So Sometimes it could start anywhere.
- 12:01And oftentimes it may start, like you said, you know, early in our lives, and you're not even
- 12:06aware that you're telling yourself that until you go, hey.
- 12:10That's something I kinda hear myself thinking.
- 12:14Where where did that come from?
- 12:15And we may not be even aware that we're actually stopping ourselves from getting, like,
- 12:21all the things that you deserve.
- 12:22Right?
- 12:23Exactly.
- 12:24Once
- 12:24you cleared that, then you were able to kind of decide what you're gonna let into your life.
- 12:28Not that, oh, that's not for me.
- 12:30No.
- 12:30In fact, it then became the process of, you know, stating and looking at, you know, what I
- 12:35what I wanted and what I, you know, how I saw my life going.
- 12:39And, I mean, part of it was just being open to wonderful possibilities there are a few areas
- 12:43in my life where I was like, no.
- 12:45This is, this is, I think, this is possible.
- 12:47I think this is out there.
- 12:49Right?
- 12:50This is a possibility for me.
- 12:51Mhmm.
- 12:52Right?
- 12:52And just kinda continuing to have that belief and looking at going, why couldn't that happen
- 12:58to me?
- 12:59Right?
- 13:00So that, you know, that kind of thing in terms of, you know, that particular one was around a
- 13:04relationship and and have, you know, of course, a mature relationship as possible, that sort of
- 13:10thing.
- 13:10And, and just keep focusing on, on the desired state.
- 13:13I know this is possible.
- 13:14I've seen it in other people that sort of thing and just keep focusing on walking towards it.
- 13:20So let's talk about desired state because I'm sure everybody's listening is thinking I want a
- 13:25better relationship.
- 13:27I want to increase things at, my job and my business and, you know, relationships with my
- 13:33children, all those things.
- 13:34Like, we all have goals.
- 13:36Right?
- 13:36Yeah.
- 13:37And how much of us kinda struggle with I'm not achieving those goals.
- 13:42I've been trying.
- 13:43I've been trying.
- 13:45So Okay.
- 13:46So I'm gonna stop you right there because the word try
- 13:49you
- 13:49know, and, and there's the old joke about, you know, yoda do or don't do, there is no try.
- 13:54But when we talk about at, at the, the, the level of the unconscious, The word to try
- 14:01implies failure.
- 14:03So when I say I am trying to do something, what it is really is, it's kind of, It's a way out.
- 14:09It's to get out of jail free card.
- 14:11It's like, I'm not really doing it, but I don't wanna feel bad.
- 14:13I don't wanna say I'm not doing it.
- 14:15So I say try.
- 14:16But really, it's, it's, try is, is if that there's one example of where I would change my
- 14:23vocabulary is I'm either doing something or I'm not doing something.
- 14:27And it's and it's not around, you know, I I think that people wouldn't necessarily use the
- 14:32word of, you know, I'm choosing to do that right now because it makes us feel that as
- 14:36opposed to no.
- 14:37I'm not prepared to do that right now.
- 14:38I'm not in a space, right, to do that right now.
- 14:41However, I'm focusing on other things.
- 14:43Right?
- 14:44So so I think one of the if I was to give a quick, you know, piece of of of feedback is,
- 14:51you know, try to eliminate, eliminate the word try.
- 14:55Cannot try to eliminate.
- 14:58And just just experiment, see what happens.
- 15:01So let's talk a little bit more about language because that's so very key.
- 15:05Right?
- 15:05And we all do it.
- 15:07Like you said, you're not thinking about it, and I'm gonna, you know, I'm gonna try to, you
- 15:13know, be more effective with my team, or I'm gonna try to communicate better with my
- 15:18partner, or I'm gonna try to get along with, someone that, maybe irks me a bit more.
- 15:24So we're already telling we're already selling to the con unconscious by using the word try
- 15:29that we may or may not do it.
- 15:31Is that what we're saying?
- 15:32Oh, it's it's it's not that we may or may not.
- 15:35Trying if you're trying to do something, it automatically implies failure.
- 15:39Okay.
- 15:40Right.
- 15:41So what kind of things should we consider with language and what kind of things should we be
- 15:49tweaking if we're thinking of a goal?
- 15:52How should we be approaching our language if we could make some little tweaks Mhmm.
- 15:57Along the way?
- 15:59Well, one of the things, again, is about, I'm moving towards my goal of this.
- 16:05I am working on my goal of this.
- 16:07Right?
- 16:07And really kind of and being in some way specific around what are you doing?
- 16:13Right?
- 16:13And it doesn't have to be big things.
- 16:16You know, something one small thing that takes a few minutes a day.
- 16:22For example, you know, reading something that's inspirational.
- 16:32For example, you know, if you're looking to increase your business, making some phone
- 16:36calls, right, if you're looking to increase you will, you know, the the the the connection with
- 16:42your partner.
- 16:43Right?
- 16:44Doing little things like checking in during the day or just It doesn't have to be big, but it's
- 16:51doing those things and whole thing, first of all, it's using that imagination, seeing it as
- 16:56already happened.
- 16:58Right?
- 16:58You're projecting into the future.
- 16:59Right?
- 17:00Like, so we what we know with goals is, like, you know, we we all have that proverbial to do
- 17:05list.
- 17:05Do you have lists and sub lists of lists?
- 17:08Oh, yes.
- 17:08Yeah.
- 17:11And kinda looking at your goals and breaking it down and And really, probably what you're
- 17:16saying is almost, rewarding yourself or acknowledging with the brain that I have made x
- 17:23amount of phone calls today.
- 17:25Or I, you know, spent 10 minutes with my son having a really nice dialogue if I'm trying to
- 17:31get a better communication, or my family sat down to dinner, and we actually had a nice
- 17:37dinner, and we took time after dinner to to have conversation.
- 17:40So you're acknowledging where you are in the process versus not focusing on what you didn't
- 17:45achieve.
- 17:46Is that what you're saying?
- 17:47Exactly.
- 17:47Right.
- 17:47It's it's it's it's you know, looking towards those improvements, or even if you're at the
- 17:53starting process of it's about creating that image in your mind of what the outcome, what
- 17:59what will it look like when this has manifested?
- 18:03Because let's talk a bit desired outcome because that's important.
- 18:07Right?
- 18:07Like, so what kind of things do you do with hypnosis, or we didn't even talk about NLP, but
- 18:14you can chat tell us a little bit more about that.
- 18:18To get ourselves.
- 18:20What what kind of things can we do to get into a desired state?
- 18:22Let's say, you know, with some of my goals, because we're so close, Some of my goals are to
- 18:27speak more and to be able to travel more, you know, spend time in Florida with RJ, that kind
- 18:34of stuff.
- 18:35Mhmm.
- 18:35How would I put myself into a state, or what kind of things, what tactical things could I
- 18:42consider doing Mhmm.
- 18:44To be able to remind the unconscious, which cause is that's what you're telling me to do.
- 18:49Date, that that that the that's where I want to be.
- 18:54Okay.
- 18:54So, wanna kinda just split it up between some of the the quick stuff and also the, the
- 19:00hypnosis.
- 19:00So one of the things that you wanna, I do wanna wanna cover, with your viewers or your
- 19:06listeners about is hypnosis.
- 19:07I think there's a few minutes about hypnosis, that aren't necessarily helpful for people.
- 19:14For example, and it is possible, but, but, and most people think of hypnosis as a one shot
- 19:21deal.
- 19:21Like, I go once and everything's fixed.
- 19:24And there are some people who experience change within one session.
- 19:29Right?
- 19:29However, depending on the complexity of what's going on a subconscious mind, it may require
- 19:36more than one session.
- 19:38Most of my colleagues talk about 3 to 5 sessions.
- 19:43Some depending on, you know, if you're talking about trauma and sort of, more complex issues,
- 19:49you're talking about more than that.
- 19:52More, more sessions than that and depending on where an individual can go.
- 19:56So what I wanna really talk about is, you know, don't necessarily go into it expecting, oh,
- 20:03it's one session in my mouth.
- 20:05It just depends on the situation.
- 20:08The other thing is is, and perhaps the most important thing I can impart is that hypnosis
- 20:14is not something that someone does to you.
- 20:17Hollywood has not done hypnosis or hypnotists or hypnotherapists any favors by portraying it
- 20:25as something that we do and people fall onto our spell.
- 20:28And then they do we they do, you know, whatever the hypnotist wants them to do.
- 20:33It's it's a feedback loop.
- 20:35Right?
- 20:36It's it's a participant it's a partnership and it's a participatory, process.
- 20:41It's it's the person the individual's involved.
- 20:43So someone who comes in, and says to me, well, I can't be, I can't be hypnotized.
- 20:52You know, I would say, well, what makes you say that?
- 20:55Right?
- 20:55And they'll say, well, you know, I just, I, I get nervous or this or that.
- 20:59So you know, part of that is, the process is in order to enter into trance, you have to allow
- 21:05yourself to.
- 21:06Right?
- 21:06It's a, it's a voluntary process.
- 21:10If if you're not in a space that you can do that, there's there's nothing that I can do
- 21:15that's going to make you fall into trance.
- 21:19Right?
- 21:19And in fact, trans is a naturally occurring phenomena.
- 21:23Right?
- 21:23It happens all the time.
- 21:25Driving on the highway.
- 21:26Have you ever Been on the highway.
- 21:29And then all of a sudden, you kinda come up and you look and you're like, oh, where am I?
- 21:34And it takes you a few minutes to reorient and or you perhaps have realized you missed your
- 21:40exit a way back.
- 21:43Right?
- 21:43That's because you were in a trance because your body is used to driving because of the
- 21:51repetition.
- 21:51Right?
- 21:54Habits are formed by, emotion and repetition.
- 21:57And and because you've been driving for so long, it's become automatic and then your brain
- 22:02goes elsewhere and away you go.
- 22:05Or have you ever gotten caught up in a movie?
- 22:08Right?
- 22:09Watching a movie, something happens and you jump.
- 22:12Well, it's not because it's happening in your life.
- 22:15But you've gotten so absorbed in the movie that you're experiencing it as though it was
- 22:22happening to you.
- 22:24And your logical mind knows that this is not real, that these are factors.
- 22:29There are cameras.
- 22:30There are some people.
- 22:31There's costing people, make them people.
- 22:33Right?
- 22:34Your logical mind knows all that, but as you get drawn into the movie and you go into that
- 22:39trance, that all falls away.
- 22:42So so that's the thing.
- 22:43Right?
- 22:43It's it's really important for people to know.
- 22:46It's it's it's not something that is done to them.
- 22:48It's something that they participate in.
- 22:50And the hypnotist is only there to facilitate the process and also to, you know, to do to
- 22:55help with some of the to facilitate some of the change of work.
- 22:59Because it is scary.
- 23:00Right?
- 23:00You're you're people think that you're gonna do something to them and, you know, often they're
- 23:06I think they think of strict street hypnosis, which is a completely different thing, to when
- 23:12someone comes to you, and they're really just trying to make change, whether it's to feel
- 23:16happier or to, you know, follow their goals or, get better in relationships, whatever.
- 23:23The kind of issues that you're dealing with her everyday normal stuff.
- 23:27But like you said, it could be, a lot, maybe a little bit more in-depth, but people come to
- 23:33you for everyday problems too.
- 23:34Correct.
- 23:35Absolutely.
- 23:35It's every, everyday problems.
- 23:36Like, you know, I mean, there's been lots of things.
- 23:39You know, you know, I've helped, anxiety is a a big one depression's a big one as well.
- 23:46You know, things like, tinnitus.
- 23:49So ringing in years, that's been something, you know, someone came to see me with respect to
- 23:54that.
- 23:55So there's, like, there's lots of applications to, to hypnosis.
- 23:59But you're bright.
- 24:00I mean, there's it's the it's the whole perception of hypnosis.
- 24:03Right?
- 24:03A lot of people, some of the fears, they're afraid that they're gonna lose control.
- 24:08You don't lose control.
- 24:10You
- 24:10can't, I can't make anyone do something they wouldn't normally do.
- 24:13People the other fear is telling your secrets.
- 24:17Mhmm.
- 24:18Again.
- 24:18Right?
- 24:19You're not gonna tell anybody anything that that you would normally tell them.
- 24:23And the other thing is the other fear that people have as being stuck in hypnosis.
- 24:27Right?
- 24:28And if you don't keep the trans going, it it won't last.
- 24:32Right?
- 24:32There's there's no known recorded as far as as in in any of my research for my teachers.
- 24:38There's no known instance of anybody getting stuck.
- 24:43So what is trans, Luis?
- 24:45Well, like, trans is, is a a state of focused absorption.
- 24:51Okay.
- 24:51Okay.
- 24:52Right?
- 24:52Where you're you're absorbed in something.
- 24:54You're focused on something, and it's just that intense absorption with a particular item or a
- 25:03particular, you know, that particular, it's you're just absorbed in something.
- 25:08So in hypnosis, I mean, that's where the, the the pendulum comes in or the spirals come in.
- 25:14It's a way of having someone focus their attention on something.
- 25:18Right?
- 25:19And and and once someone focuses their attention on something, And then they listen
- 25:24to, you know, whether it's, whatever kind of induction it is, right, that whole process of,
- 25:31of integrating trans, and just allowing or the person, some people are natural.
- 25:36They they have this natural ability to put themselves into trends.
- 25:39And so when
- 25:40you're putting them into Roxanne, is it is it to focus on the issue they're coming with, or
- 25:46are you putting them into trance to be able to have them look at things from a different
- 25:50perspective to, to get rid of that negative belief.
- 25:53So what I wanna correct in your language is I'm not putting anybody in trans.
- 25:58They are allowing themselves to come into trans.
- 26:00They are they're okay.
- 26:01Let me let me simplify it.
- 26:03If someone comes to me and they say, you know, and they're they're coming for for hypnosis, or
- 26:09hypnotherapy, you know, if they follow in the process, if they follow the directions that I
- 26:17give them, they will, they will, and allow themselves to, to fall into trance and to go
- 26:23into trance and to go deeper into trance.
- 26:27Then it will happen.
- 26:28Okay.
- 26:29Right?
- 26:29So that's the thing.
- 26:30It's not, I really wanna correct that, but it's, it's totally a voluntary process.
- 26:34If someone says to me, Well, I bet you you can't, you know, you can't, you can't hypnotize
- 26:39me.
- 26:40I'm gonna say, yeah, you're right.
- 26:41I'm not even gonna try because if somebody is out to prove that I can't It's it's absolutely
- 26:46gonna happen that way.
- 26:47Mhmm.
- 26:48Right?
- 26:48So so that's the thing.
- 26:50And so what happens is, well, and and to answer your question, it the answer is yes on both
- 26:56counts.
- 26:57I you know, part of the part of the issue might be to to to discover or some blocks to a
- 27:03particular goal to discover some of the layers of a particular issue.
- 27:09Right?
- 27:10Because sometimes, you know, I've had someone come to me wanting to work on, you know, a,
- 27:17And, you know, as we work hypnotically, things come up and it indicates that there may be
- 27:24something else there, there may be B or C or D there.
- 27:27Right?
- 27:28And then, of course, you, you know, you would possibly go into those issues if the, if the
- 27:33individual is okay with doing that.
- 27:36And so you explore what the blocks are, and and then you would clear each of those blocks to
- 27:40the point where it comes up to the original issue.
- 27:44So, so you could be doing that.
- 27:45And on the other side is, is, so clearing things, obviously, that are getting in the way
- 27:50of someone meeting your goals.
- 27:53And on the other side, actually putting in some suggestions to, to have things happen more ease
- 27:59inefferlessly to, you know, so that there's, there's that piece again.
- 28:05So getting rid of what's in the way and then promoting the change work and the actual change
- 28:09led desired.
- 28:10So I I come in.
- 28:12I allow myself to get into trance.
- 28:15I there's blocks that come up along the way.
- 28:18You assist me to clear those.
- 28:21Mhmm.
- 28:21I like to look at the desired state of where I wanna be.
- 28:24Well, the desired state is already there.
- 28:26When you come in, Right.
- 28:28That that's what we would be talking about.
- 28:29You said I'm coming in for, you know, I wanna increase my motivation.
- 28:34Okay.
- 28:35Right?
- 28:35And so I've so we would talk about what that looks like.
- 28:39Right?
- 28:40Well, how will you know that's happened?
- 28:42What will be different?
- 28:43How will you behaving?
- 28:45Right?
- 28:46And then in the hypnotic process, you know, either if there are some blocks looking at some
- 28:52of the blocks, so some of the beliefs or or whatever that may have happened.
- 28:57And then the other on the other piece, installing some some resources.
- 29:02You know, in some cases, it's a it's it's a 2 pronged approach.
- 29:05It's clearing barriers and and then installing the resources because really, people who come
- 29:12for assistance oftentimes are, are feeling unresourceful.
- 29:16And, and part of hypnosis is to install those resources.
- 29:20So a resource might be a a cons like saying something to yourself or focusing on a positive
- 29:25part of your life.
- 29:27Is that what the resource is?
- 29:28Well, those are conscious processes, Roxanne.
- 29:30When you're when you're dealing with the unconscious, it would be, you know, that's
- 29:34where where posts have not suggestion comes in.
- 29:38Right?
- 29:38So you're making suggestions directly to the unconscious mind around, you know, those, those
- 29:45things that would, you know, create, let's say, using the example motivation.
- 29:50Okay.
- 29:51You're actually suggesting it.
- 29:53And the unconscious mind is picking it up and integrating it based on the state they're in.
- 29:58Yes.
- 29:58And the interesting thing about the unconscious mind is, as you know, in, in our minds, things
- 30:04that are similar cluster together.
- 30:07Mhmm.
- 30:07So you may, you, you know, we may target a particular instance or a particular thing, area
- 30:15that you wanna develop more motivation in.
- 30:18But anything that has motivation as a theme, the unconscious mind will then generalize and
- 30:23might you might find things, happening in another area.
- 30:27That, that really wasn't targeted, but it's like, Hey.
- 30:31Wow.
- 30:31That's really cool.
- 30:32That, that, you know, I didn't ask for that to happen, but it's happening.
- 30:35And that's usually because the unconscious mind, you know, looks for anything that is
- 30:41similar.
- 30:42And then we'll, we'll generalize the, the process.
- 30:46Yeah, stickiness by association.
- 30:48So you might affect another part of the person's, you know, theme that fits that they
- 30:53won't they they won't even trying to target, but it it by just focusing on that.
- 30:57It it it clears it away for them.
- 30:59That's that's That's quite that's quite fascinating.
- 31:03Now tell me if someone's listening and they're they're scared, what's what do you have some
- 31:11words for them, about, hypnosis?
- 31:17If they really wanna try it.
- 31:19If they really wanna try it, I would suggest that, you know, they find someone, and it's
- 31:24okay.
- 31:25I mean, myself, when when I'm doing hypnosis, I will talk to people about the most common
- 31:30fears.
- 31:32And I talk to people until and I I get them to ask questions talk to me about, you know, some
- 31:38people say, well, I've heard this.
- 31:40And I, you know, I've read that, and and we talk about it.
- 31:43It's talking about it.
- 31:44And then I answer any questions they might have.
- 31:48Okay.
- 31:48Okay.
- 31:49And then, and then, you know, and then just taking it a bit at a time.
- 31:53Usually, it's it's around fears.
- 31:55It's around, like I said, I I went through the 3 biggest ones.
- 31:59Typically, when people realize that I'm not gonna make them clear out their bank accounts.
- 32:03I'm not gonna make them cluck like a chicken.
- 32:05They're not gonna tell me their secrets, and I'm not going you know, they're not gonna stay
- 32:10stuck in him now.
- 32:11Forever and a transfer ever, typically those are the big ones.
- 32:15But again, it's all about asking questions, educate yourself.
- 32:19So I'm sure everyone's wanting to know more.
- 32:23And, so why don't you tell them a little bit about, where you can they can locate you if
- 32:29they wanted to reach out and and, figure out, if they could work with re where could they
- 32:34find you?
- 32:35My I have a website.
- 32:37It's, vibrant life.
- 32:39The the URL is www.vibrantlife
- 32:44dotbiz.
- 32:46Awesome.
- 32:46Well, again, Louise, you know, you and I can talk a lot about this, and I've actually been
- 32:51through some hypnosis with Louise, and it's, you know, and still I'm fascinated by the the
- 32:56actual technical part to things.
- 32:58And, the unconscious is you know, so vast.
- 33:02And, you know, from being in the field, as long as we both have, we're we're constantly
- 33:06learning and know that, you know, you can bypass those things that you no longer want in
- 33:12your life.
- 33:13It just sometimes it takes a method, and I would say, or an approach of looking at it
- 33:18differently.
- 33:19And, you know, oftentimes, we might get tripped up.
- 33:22And we're like, okay.
- 33:22So how do I get I seem to be going around the same bend again over and over again and that
- 33:27may be need that, you know, you need to be able to create long term sustainable change that you
- 33:33need to tap into the unconscious, which really is kind of driving most of our lives.
- 33:37And if it's driving you in a direction, you're thinking it's no longer working, that's where
- 33:41something like notions, is important.
