- 0:10What does the nanny do? OK, so we're done.
- 0:13Goodbye. You.
- 0:16Shut it off. Do not twist my words.
- 0:19Do not make me a victim, sweetie.
- 0:21Just look at the mountain. That's what you.
- 0:23Saw that day just the knife in
- 0:29and the sacrifices that I made
- 0:48Browns in Crisis Season 6 episode 16 we've got the Browns
- 0:57in crisis. And it's actually a crisis this
- 1:01time. It's not some fake drama, it's
- 1:05real drama. This family does seem to
- 1:07manufacture crises out of nothing and can't manage the
- 1:11most simple of things, so this
- 1:15As you may remember, on the last
- 1:20the coming up bonds for this episode and how we were both
- 1:23emotional and we were both feeling our feelings when it
- 1:27came to a little preview that they were showing us about Aspyn
- 1:32leading us in a prayer that we'll get to on this episode.
- 1:36What are you thinking about a transition from our last episode
- 1:38into this one? Honey, how are you feeling
- 1:40starting this episode? I definitely was sad again
- 1:47watching this and teared up and I was right in my prediction
- 1:52that I was going to cry during
- 1:54I did cry and then soon the tears dried up and quickly
- 1:59turned to anger so I was all over the place.
- 2:04I guess you could say I was emotional during this episode.
- 2:08I felt. Did you have some fillings?
- 2:10I have some fillings. Yes.
- 2:12I can't wait to get into it because I did get pretty angry
- 2:17actually right after crying. So it was a little shocking that
- 2:22I went from one to the other, but I'll explain myself.
- 2:26OK, Previously on yes, sister wives.
- 2:31Oh, they gave us a good previously on This time, they
- 2:36showed us a clip of Mystic Mona telling the Browns at the
- 2:42graduation party where she was
- 2:47some of the kids were going to
- 2:52So they bring that clip up again
- 2:58this prediction. So what other ones will she be
- 3:02correct in? And for our listeners on
- 3:05Spotify, we did add a survey to our last episode asking who we
- 3:09need more of in our life, Nipple
- 3:14So please give us your votes because this is really important
- 3:17information that's going to change the trajectory of human
- 3:20history. And then opening this episode,
- 3:24Christine tells us about how the
- 3:27Francisco and how Truely started feeling unwell after
- 3:31returning. She claims they brought Truely
- 3:33to the doctor and the doctor said she had the flu.
- 3:38And I'm I'm using the word claims for a reason.
- 3:42Did that stick out to you at all or am I making a mountain out of
- 3:50I think that they took her in and that the doctor said it was
- 3:54the flu. I think I believe it.
- 3:58I don't know. OK, I have a random thing to
- 4:02point out from the previously on that I was a little taken aback
- 4:07by that They showed again and I didn't know if it was going to
- 4:14Because they show the clip of Kody asking Christine to put the
- 4:25and asking him, saying to him that he needs to be there more
- 4:31and be a part of their lives more.
- 4:33And she had laid out these conditions.
- 4:36And they show Brett's wife, Ava,
- 4:40judging the fuck out of all of them.
- 4:43And so I was wondering if they were showing that clip of her
- 4:48being in Kody's face about, you know, her conditions because
- 4:53that obviously would rear its head during this with a sick
- 4:57child. Right.
- 4:58So I don't know, but Christine saying that she took her to the
- 5:04doctor and that she had the flu, I think that I believe it
- 5:13kids have the flu or colds in general, they don't drink enough
- 5:21that are supposed to taste good to get them to drink and not be
- 5:25dehydrated. So I think I believe it.
- 5:28I think they took her in. And I had flashbacks to being a
- 5:31kid when my mom being like, you know, drink your fluids, Drink
- 5:35people tell you that as well. But when you're a kid, it's
- 5:38almost just beating into you for good reason.
- 5:41Yeah. After Christine brings us up to
- 5:43speed on taking Truely to the doctor's office, which I totally
- 5:51Truely with Aspyn as she heads out with her sister wives and
- 5:54Kody to select some flowers for their upcoming non vow
- 5:58renewal, not recommitment ceremony.
- 6:01I want to make sure to fit as many vowels in there as I can
- 6:04when it comes to this non vow renewal not recommitment
- 6:08ceremony that's in their future.
- 6:10I've been trying to pay very close attention to what each of
- 6:14them call it because it changes so frequently they don't even
- 6:17know what to call it. And she said commitment
- 6:21celebration at one point during this.
- 6:24And I have been making a note each time that I have to write
- 6:31what they're talking about. You're being much more diligent
- 6:33than me. I'm literally calling it
- 6:35whatever the fuck I feel like and basically putting it down
- 6:37because I'm like what are you even saying?
- 6:39Well, because they're acting so offended that people are calling
- 6:47thing? Because you're on video at the
- 6:52They get offended and weird and defensive over things that
- 6:55haven't even happened yet all the time.
- 6:58So I'm going to quote them when they call it a commitment
- 7:02celebration or whatever they decide to call it that day.
- 7:05We could play good cop, bad cop, and I'll just call it whatever
- 7:12Words. The wives and Kody arrive at a
- 7:19ahead of them planning for their commitment ceremony.
- 7:21As they're looking around at flowers at this flower shop,
- 7:25Janelle points out how she likes the fall and the autumn flowers
- 7:29because they can incorporate gourds.
- 7:32Gourds, gourds. Yes, gourds Janelle.
- 7:36And you know, as a man, I can say nothing wrong with a nice
- 7:42bulbous full round gourd. That's my preference.
- 7:45I don't know. Oh my goodness.
- 7:48Yeah, the pretty fall colors. And gourds, of course.
- 7:52Gourds. Goals.
- 7:53Kody of course has to have a 2 camera where he's telling us
- 7:58about their upcoming commitment ceremony, yada yada yada.
- 8:00It's like we've heard so much about this thing that we don't
- 8:05We don't have to talk about what he said, right?
- 8:07Like he's just saying what we already know.
- 8:09He's reminding us that they are having trouble agreeing on
- 8:13anything, so prefacing the picking out the flowers.
- 8:17Oop, this might be tumultuous. We're having trouble agreeing on
- 8:24She is very excited looking at all these flowers.
- 8:28And we get a couch moment with her where she is letting
- 8:32everyone know that she is surprised by her excitement.
- 8:36And everyone is agreeing. They can't believe she's excited
- 8:43You know, it's kind of odd.
- 8:44And Janelle says I must have left my body temporarily or
- 8:49something. I thought that was funny.
- 8:53I love how whenever Janelle shows enthusiasm about
- 8:56something, they're all taken aback.
- 8:57Yes. How out of character for you?
- 9:00She cares about blocks and making them not even and being
- 9:07artsy fartsy with the letter blocks and now she's being artsy
- 9:11fartsy with gourds and fall colors and flowers.
- 9:14And don't you call this non vow renewing commitment, whatever
- 9:18it is, a party? Because she will correct you if
- 9:20you call it a party. We know that.
- 9:22How dare I see I already messed up.
- 9:25I called it the wrong thing already.
- 9:28Well, luckily we only had to watch her doing it to Robyn, not
- 9:30to you. So it was a it was a benefit for
- 9:32us all. And Speaking of the wives not
- 9:35agreeing, they do happen to agree that they all like calla
- 9:38lilies. Oh, and so they all joke about
- 9:42agreeing on two things, Calla lilies and Kody.
- 9:48Oh, Kody. OK, I'm not Even so sure that
- 9:52they all agree on Kody at this
- 9:55I was cackling during this because I was thinking to
- 9:58myself, calla lilies. You got to be kidding me.
- 10:01They are the beige of flowers,
- 10:08They are the tofu or the rice cake of the garden.
- 10:12OK, you agree on calla lilies.
- 10:16things and making fun of it in
- 10:19my wedding bouquet was just calla lilies.
- 10:24You're a basic Calla Lily bitch.
- 10:26Girl yes and the reason I picked them is because I wanted
- 10:31something simple as fuck because I was getting married on a beach
- 10:38because I'm like of course they picked the most boring flower to
- 10:46flowers I picked for my own wedding so.
- 10:49Oops. Yeah, oopsies.
- 10:50Well, and I'd love that you use the word tofu because there's
- 10:53the whole reference to tofu girlfriends and whatever.
- 10:55And I feel as though these women, Janelle, probably to a
- 10:59lesser extent, but they all play tofu wives to Kody.
- 11:03And Janelle has a moment where she has an opinion and they're
- 11:09They're all tofu. They're very, very fucking tofu.
- 11:15moment that they give him. I don't know why we're we keep
- 11:18interrupting this flower shop experience with bits of couch
- 11:23and mostly of Kody on the couch and Kody has to tell us that
- 11:29this commitment ceremony is also
- 11:33statement and validating their
- 11:37their friends. Validation of their relationship
- 11:42from their friends. An interesting way to put it, I
- 11:46thought of the mission statement
- 11:50big part of the commitment ceremony.
- 11:52Isn't this the mission statement
- 11:56fucks about and that nobody has taken seriously and worked on
- 12:00in months and it's going to be the focus of this commitment
- 12:05ceremony? He's bringing it up again.
- 12:08They don't know what they're doing.
- 12:10But honey, the calla lilies, the
- 12:12Right. Yeah, you're right.
- 12:19What do you even say? Why do they do this to us?
- 12:22Yeah, it makes no sense. No, then give us these clips of
- 12:26Kody talking about what this is about as we're just looking at
- 12:29flowers and trying to agree on
- 12:31I don't get it. While brainstorming, they land
- 12:34on a tree of life concept. Oh, because they all like sticks
- 12:38and twigs and branches in their flower bouquets.
- 12:42So, you know, the potential of
- 12:44table sounds just wonderful. Robyn is very enthusiastic.
- 12:49Because that means we're putting
- 12:55Oh my God, Robyn. She took a long time to get to
- 12:59this conclusion that everyone else had already gotten to.
- 13:01The lady asked them if they want
- 13:06and Christine says, oh, like a
- 13:11comes up with this idea. And everyone else catches on
- 13:15very quickly to the meaning of
- 13:18But Robyn, it dawns on her 5 minutes after it dawns on
- 13:23everyone else. And she goes, oh, I love it
- 13:28because we're putting our roots down in that spot.
- 13:33Like she's whoa, Oh my gosh. Now she's acting like it's her
- 13:38idea all of a sudden. And if looks could kill Meri is
- 13:42looking at her like the dumb bitch that she is.
- 13:45Oh. Yes, love a dirty look going
- 13:49Robyn's way. Of course, of course.
- 13:50Big fan. Everyone is so happy because
- 13:53they found their theme and they agreed on some flowers.
- 13:57So naturally the cake is next for this party that we are not
- 14:02calling a party. But it's not a celebration, it's
- 14:04the celebration. So let's talk about the cake
- 14:10first. Course, I got to point something
- 14:12out. Oh yeah, they show us a cart
- 14:15with all of the flowers on it that have been chosen by the
- 14:20Brown family. And the flowers on the cart do
- 14:25not drive right, They do not match.
- 14:29They picked fall colors and then
- 14:34looking bright blue flowers that
- 14:40That were unique and interesting
- 14:42don't fit the theme. And so it's totally like one of
- 14:45those people that when shopping for a space are like, I'm just
- 14:48going to pick a bunch of things I like and then put it in a
- 14:50room. And it's like, none of this
- 14:52jives. None of this matches.
- 14:54And so while they agreed on a theme, their execution is
- 14:59lacking. What a shock for the Brown
- 15:01family. We're all stunned.
- 15:04I know they showed us the cart
- 15:09and I had to do a double take that they actually put those
- 15:13blue flowers in with everything so.
- 15:16Color us surprise. Color us blue.
- 15:18Surprised to transition into their cake planning.
- 15:21They're meeting up with Ashley
- 15:26Sugar. And I was like, give me some
- 15:29sugar, girl. Yes, I had flashbacks to Britney
- 15:32Spears at the VMAs. Gimme, Gimme some sugar, Gimme,
- 15:36Gimme some sugar. And I kind of felt like that
- 15:39could be Janelle walking up there, you know, kind of
- 15:41stumbling around catching her balance while all the backup
- 15:44dancers are propping her up. I was just having a whole little
- 15:48world happening in my mind while
- 15:51And thank you for joining me on that unhinged journey to this
- 15:55non commitment, non bow renewal,
- 16:00Of course, they try out different flavors of cake, you
- 16:02know, fill in the blanks. Kody makes a nearly impossible
- 16:07ask. He starts doodling a cake that
- 16:10looks like a tree on a piece of paper.
- 16:14And I thought, you know, OK, we're sticking with the theme.
- 16:17This is good. But my insides, something wasn't
- 16:21feeling right and I thought, why
- 16:26cake? Our designer of the family, the
- 16:30family. I just didn't really get it.
- 16:32I thought we're not using Robyn to her full potential in this
- 16:36situation. She's just sitting there looking
- 16:41But why isn't she designing the
- 16:43cake? It just, it didn't sit right
- 16:45with me. I felt it was unjust and unfair
- 16:47to our Robyn. It was.
- 16:48She's the one that has the sketchbooks after all, that she
- 16:51writes their figures and numbers
- 16:55Doesn't even use the graph paper
- 17:00know. How could she go to a cake shop
- 17:02without her graph paper notepad?
- 17:04It just doesn't make any sense. What an idiot.
- 17:07She missed out on her chance to show off yet again with her
- 17:11amazing design skills. This is it and she didn't really
- 17:18the star moment that we all crave and yearn for.
- 17:22I was wondering why do they have to be so literal with this
- 17:27theme? Why does it have to be a cake
- 17:31that's a tree. Now that you've finally decided
- 17:34on this tree of life theme. They're so literal with
- 17:38everything because they lack creativity all around.
- 17:41I don't mean to burst any bubbles, but Ashley and her
- 17:46staff do take liberties with their concept and we are not
- 17:52delivered a vertical standing tree cake.
- 17:54OK, now we don't actually end up getting it.
- 17:58And thank God. I also suspect it's because of
- 18:04That OK, Kody suggests this vertical tree as if it is up on
- 18:09a trunk like a standard tree standing in the ground.
- 18:12And of course, as he's drawing it, it's like, OK, this doesn't
- 18:15seem like what you would do with a cake.
- 18:18And leave it to Janelle. She reminds him that they do not
- 18:25remind Kody of those finite resources, those finite
- 18:29resources. Janelle is going, we don't have
- 18:31this much money to spend on a cake.
- 18:33And then Ashleys colleague starts determining how to
- 18:37engineer this cake, and it turns out it's not going to be as easy
- 18:42No, that's a balancing act. They have to figure out how they
- 18:58They don't just use cake. Duh.
- 19:00They seemed to think that that was what was going to happen,
- 19:05was full on cake. Leave it to them.
- 19:09But she starts designing this, and as Janelle's talking about
- 19:40And my mind blew up. I'm having a flashback in my
- 19:47mind to a giant vacant wall in Christine's house with the
- 19:51tiniest little word art off center in the middle and going.
- 19:54There's no budget for anything
- 19:56to put on the walls, but let's
- 20:00500 people and needs to be structured with wood and metal.
- 20:05Yeah, that's. Clearly not going to be what
- 20:07happens, but it's just funny that these are the things that
- 20:09we see with this family. Like what are you even talking
- 20:12about? They just let this play out for
- 20:13the sake of the show. It was never a possibility, and
- 20:17I'm sure that the owner of Give Me Some Sugar Ashley was
- 20:22willing to go along and spend her time on this because
- 20:25people would see the show and oh, that's a really cool cake
- 20:28shop and they can do really neat things.
- 20:31Let's go there and get business from this.
- 20:33Didn't look up if they're closed or not.
- 20:36I should have done that. I didn't even think about it
- 20:41till just now, but $8500 that could get 3 beater cars for your
- 20:49Yeah. It could, dare I say, send a kid
- 20:57No. Honey, don't you dare connect
- 21:00those dots. Don't you dare.
- 21:02How dare I? Well, this leads them into the
- 21:07they could reduce the height if it helped to reduce the cost.
- 21:11Like OK, so instead of a three foot cake, you're going to do a
- 21:142 foot cake. How about we just abandoned this
- 21:20more time on this subject. Thank God, because good Lord,
- 21:24Mylanta, I can't even. And 500 people.
- 21:27How many people are they inviting to this shindig?
- 21:30Can I call it a shindig? How many people are they
- 21:34inviting to this horror show? Kimber, you know this is not a
- 21:41This backyard gathering. Right.
- 21:44But on the couch, Christine is telling Kody that he doesn't
- 21:47need to worry. His cake dreams will come true.
- 21:51She also points out how she's
- 21:53being the supportive wife while playfully tapping at her smile
- 21:58on her face, pointing at how she's just being so supportive
- 22:02Kody and how the other wives aren't supporting his dream like
- 22:06she is. And Robyn says, well, Christine
- 22:09wins the favorite wife award and
- 22:13Shut your whore mouth. They act like Kody's so sad and
- 22:19they're all pretending to console him and he's pretending
- 22:22he's a sad little boy not getting his special cake.
- 22:26Did you think he really was disappointed?
- 22:29No, it felt like a bit to me. It just felt like they were talk
- 22:32and that's why Christine, I think, was being so playful.
- 22:34It was not serious, I guess. They were just playing it up.
- 22:38I kind of feel like he was disappointed because it would
- 22:40have been a thing to show off and it would have been his idea
- 22:44and he would have looked cool to
- 22:46But yeah, they were definitely
- 22:49I could see him being disappointed, but the collective
- 22:53them, you know, with the help of
- 22:57like, let me help you people out.
- 23:00Like we are not spending $8500 on a cake for God's sake, right?
- 23:07education, Leon is going to be
- 23:13day or two. So at Meri's house, they are
- 23:16going to be throwing Leon a birthday and going away party.
- 23:20And Meri tells us that Kody is
- 23:23surprise them. And Meri and Kody are planning
- 23:27on taking Leon to Westminster in
- 23:31The schedule's a bit hairy here because apparently there's a
- 23:33party and they're going the next
- 23:35I guess maybe we're hearing this
- 23:37So there's a lot to do that day.
- 23:39You know, whatever, it's the Browns.
- 23:40They're going to be taking Leon to school, throwing a party, and
- 23:46We do know that Leon needs a vehicle.
- 23:50Apparently, even though several listeners have commented on our
- 23:53episodes about how their kids didn't get cars, they didn't
- 23:56have cars, Their blah blah blah doesn't have cars.
- 23:59So totally driving with what you
- 24:01Thank you for the validation from the listeners by the way,
- 24:04because those comments we were
- 24:07Some colleges won't allow you to
- 24:10freshman. I wonder if they even looked
- 24:12into that at all. Who knows?
- 24:14I'm pretty sure Westminster being a private school and a lot
- 24:20I don't I that wasn't on my list of schools to even apply to, so
- 24:23I don't know. You're probably right and Leon
- 24:31to be able to have it, so who knows.
- 24:35Meri's like I rented you a spot at a private garage.
- 24:38Like, OK, great. I wouldn't doubt it.
- 24:40I really wouldn't doubt it. Kody arrives at Meri's house and
- 24:46Shipping officer for My Sister Wife's Closet, taping and
- 24:50shipping up boxes on the island, and Kody yells for Leon to come
- 24:55downstairs. Leon, come downstairs.
- 24:57Bring your shoes with you. Come quick, come quick.
- 25:00You need to come down here trying to surprise and do
- 25:06something nice for Leon, and Leon reacts how we would expect.
- 25:13was going to be almost like, we're going to go get the car,
- 25:16bring it to the driveway, surprise Leon.
- 25:18And that's not what unfolds. As Leon is entering the family
- 25:22room, Kody straight up asks, do you want to get a car?
- 25:26And Leon's like, yeah. And it's like, wow, this was
- 25:30very anticlimactic, considering when you're going to surprise a
- 25:33child with a car, you would usually.
- 25:35Oh, I would assume you would take a different approach rather
- 25:37than just asking them. And then they would say, yeah,
- 25:40as if. Well, it's kind of expected.
- 25:42My name's Leon. I'm a little spoiled brat.
- 25:45He was trying to surprise Leon
- 25:50not meant for Meri, probably, but I felt like he was trying
- 25:57here and said do you want to go get a car?
- 26:01Come on down, you could get a car.
- 26:05But Leon literally looks at Kody
- 26:13it was expected. You were correct.
- 26:16It was as if Leon knew it was going to happen at some point.
- 26:21And thank God. Finally, Dad.
- 26:24Kody's been researching cars and
- 26:27Great. Now we're going to transition
- 26:29over to Christine's house on the
- 26:32compound property, where Christine is giving us an update
- 26:35on Truely. Yeah, Christine lets us know
- 26:38that Truely is still sick and it's been 5 days since their
- 26:43trip and Christine says that she
- 26:48weird. So Mckelty told Christine that
- 26:53she noticed Truely going cross
- 26:57Christine freaks out, she goes
- 26:59weird. I think I need to take Truely
- 27:01into her doctor, not the emergency room, the doctor.
- 27:07So she is planning on going to
- 27:13must have gotten in that day. But now when Christine is
- 27:16talking about Truely going cross
- 27:21help but think to myself, am I
- 27:24Christine is talking about this happening in the morning as if
- 27:27it happened earlier in the day?
- 27:29And you know, is there a lack of urgency happening here or is it
- 27:35just me? Like did you pick up on that?
- 27:38I think Christine saw it shortly before deciding, OK, we need to
- 27:42go to the doctor and what really pushed her is that she
- 27:46was talking to Mckelty about how she just saw her go cross
- 27:49eyed and Mckelty goes, well she did that this morning too.
- 28:00the morning. There is something that didn't
- 28:10weird happened. Now this is more serious, so I
- 28:15That does make more sense. And you're giving her more grace
- 28:20You saw her go cross eyed this morning and you're just now
- 28:23getting to bringing her to the doctor?
- 28:24Like, are you fucking kidding? I don't need any more reasons to
- 28:35I never. You know.
- 28:37I never had to babysit siblings. I don't know if you ever babysat
- 28:48happened or went wrong while I was watching them, you best
- 28:52believe I let the parents know as soon as they walked in the
- 28:55door because it's someone else's kids and I'm telling them
- 28:58literally everything that happened.
- 29:00But when you're watching a sibling, I imagine these things
- 29:06go a little more unnoticed or they're not as alarming to you
- 29:14I don't know. Mckelty obviously didn't feel a
- 29:17sense of urgency either. So.
- 29:18All I know is if I was watching my brothers and I was looking at
- 29:27So I don't know. This is unclear to me.
- 29:31I didn't take it the same way as you.
- 29:33I actually thought that Christine knew about this and
- 29:35she was just reiterating that Mckelty saw it in the morning
- 29:38and so put a bad taste in my mouth.
- 29:40But let's default to that. Christine is a caring and
- 29:43concerned parent and we are not to judge.
- 29:46We're not to judge parents. That's we're not to judge
- 29:49parents. I'm hoping that I'm correct.
- 29:51We'll leave it there. Right, yes.
- 29:54So Christine puts Julie in the car and brings her to the
- 29:57doctor. Kody tells us that after getting
- 30:10leader in the manosphere, I understand when people are
- 30:12asking so much of you for at least a week.
- 30:15It's just how could any woman or mother understand that?
- 30:19I shouldn't say that. I mean, he wasn't saying that he
- 30:25It wasn't even a Saturday or a Sunday.
- 30:28One of our lovely listeners pointed out that Saturday is the
- 30:49This is it, honey. If you're going to advertise
- 30:51yourself as the great Catholic on this podcast, you better not
- 30:54be fucking up Moses in the Jewish traditions or whatever.
- 31:02interview moment with Marlin, who is the pediatrician.
- 31:05He says that when they told him Truely had gone cross eyed, he
- 31:14Dramatic music starts playing and then we transition to Meri's
- 31:22party. And she says she got a text from
- 31:25Christine that says that she's
- 31:28room at Summerlin Hospital and
- 31:31her prep for Leon's party. The real drama begins when Robyn
- 31:35rushes to the bedroom to wake Kody up to let him know about
- 31:39the text messages. She asks have you checked your
- 31:42phone? Have you seen that Christine is
- 31:45taking Truely to the emergency
- 31:49checked his phone. He sits up really quickly and
- 31:53he's got to get out of there. He's got to go and join
- 31:55Christine and Truely in the emergency room, rolling down the
- 32:00highway in his pink car, rushing
- 32:04To the emergency, which I love
- 32:07moment, Christine says that the pediatrician told her it's
- 32:10serious. We're looking at possible kidney
- 32:13failure or potentially meningitis.
- 32:15This is serious. When eyes go crossed, that's
- 32:19emergency. This starts off a pattern of
- 32:22them referring to things as emergency.
- 32:25The situation is not an emergency, it's emergency.
- 32:28The location they're going to is
- 32:31emergency. They just keep saying the word
- 32:33emergency without any preface and I'm going, is this a
- 32:37regional thing? Is this a cult thing?
- 32:39Like does this just how people
- 32:42as emergency? I totally didn't catch that.
- 32:46That is hysterical. I can't believe I didn't catch
- 32:48that. But I have a feeling it's some
- 32:51sort of because they don't go to
- 32:55Who knows? I don't know, that is weird.
- 32:59Yeah, they throughout the episode refer to the ER as
- 33:02emergency and as the situation
- 33:06emergency or the emergency room.
- 33:07And I just was going, I wonder if this is a Utah thing or a
- 33:12polygamous cult thing or a chronically uninsured thing.
- 33:16I'm not quite sure. Yeah, because Kody does look at
- 33:20Robyn and say emergency. Yeah, he says to the emergency.
- 33:25Like, right to the emergency.
- 33:27It's just very strange way of phrasing things.
- 33:30Yeah, I didn't think about it in
- 33:33probably more to that than meets
- 33:37I thought it was funny that they
- 33:40highway in his pink car. That had to be a shot.
- 33:45Some cameraman was hanging out
- 33:49big car, rushing to the emergency.
- 33:54Honey, you said the it's emergency rushing to emergency.
- 34:00Christine has A2 camera moment
- 34:04serious this is. Why didn't I know that this was
- 34:07a serious thing? What if her eyes are going cross
- 34:10eyed? Do you have to take her to
- 34:12emergency? I didn't get that.
- 34:15I'm going what? I just don't understand how your
- 34:19child could go cross eyed in front of you and you wouldn't
- 34:21know that it's emergency like it
- 34:25Clearly I just. I don't know.
- 34:27I've never experienced this. I've been in front of someone
- 34:29where their eyes rollback in their head and it looks like
- 34:31they're going to faint or they
- 34:33When someone's eyes get fucked
- 34:36emergency. Not an emergency to the Browns.
- 34:39It's emergency. These people, I just, I don't
- 34:44know what to say. I wonder what it looked like.
- 34:46Not that I want to see a child's
- 34:50what it looked like. And that's why I asked you if
- 34:52you'd babysat for your brothers and what you would do.
- 34:54Because when I was younger and
- 35:00this was a big deal, But as an
- 35:03or something, you know? So is Christine that naive that
- 35:08she just is thinking like a teenager babysitting and didn't
- 35:13realize it was that big of a deal?
- 35:15I don't know. Because I probably when I was
- 35:17younger wouldn't have. I would have been like, that's
- 35:20weird. But maybe I wouldn't have
- 35:23thought it was that bad. I don't know.
- 35:26As someone who's not a parent, I
- 35:29sees their child go cross eyed and not think it's worth going
- 35:32to the emergency room. So yeah, I don't know.
- 35:35I've thought of going to the emergency room for less.
- 35:37You know, a kid hits their head and you instantly think, Oh my
- 35:40God, could they have a concussion?
- 35:41So at this point in my life, hell yeah, I'd be going to the
- 35:44emergency room right away if I
- 35:47On the screen we get some text.
- 35:49It says cameras were not permitted inside the emergency
- 35:57How lovely. Kody says that Christine looks
- 36:03like she's resting. You mean borderline passing out?
- 36:08Her body is failing? Yeah, that's what she looks
- 36:11like. Do you think that they would
- 36:12have let the cameras in if they were allowed, or do you think
- 36:16that Christine drew a line and
- 36:18here? I'm unclear because they also
- 36:20included in that text that because of Truely's condition,
- 36:24because of how severe things were, they weren't allowed.
- 36:26And and I'm going I've never actually seen that disclaimer
- 36:29before. I don't know what that means.
- 36:31And then later we do see them in
- 36:34So I'm not sure if the go ahead was given by Christine or if it
- 36:38was a hospital thing because also there's a difference
- 36:43between the emergency room and
- 36:46So, you know, they leave it unclear, just like we talked
- 36:49about in the last episode. If they actually told us these
- 36:51things, what would we be talking
- 36:53You know, like they do not help us out as viewers to know
- 36:56what's really happening. Definitely curious because
- 36:59exploiting a child when they're this I'll would be messed up.
- 37:03So I hope that Christine made the decision as well not to have
- 37:09Truely on camera in this condition.
- 37:11That totally makes sense and would be respectable.
- 37:14Yeah, there is something that pisses me off so much about when
- 37:19parents post pictures of their
- 37:24bed or injured or crying. It feels so voyeuristic and
- 37:31gross to me. And that you should be more
- 37:33worried about your child than taking a photo of your child
- 37:36that's crying or in pain. I find it to be very bizarre
- 37:40behavior and I don't like it. When I see that on my Facebook
- 37:44feed, I cringe. Has a ick factor for.
- 37:48Sure, it definitely does. Well, back at Meri's house,
- 37:51they're still preparing for Leon's party.
- 37:54Well, you know, and not to make it sound, you know, life has to
- 37:58go on. So people are doing their
- 37:59things. And really we don't know the
- 38:01severity of Truely's cross eyed things.
- 38:03It's just emergency at this point.
- 38:07Meri gets a call on her cell phone.
- 38:08And I love it because the ringer
- 38:11I have a cell phone and the call
- 38:13yeah, it's 2013 or whatever year this is.
- 38:17It's Kody giving Meri an update on Truely's circumstance.
- 38:22Kody shares that the specialist is concerned about potential
- 38:25kidney failure. He thinks it will be another
- 38:27hour, perhaps an hour and a half
- 38:31and Meri asks him to keep them
- 38:34Now this is an interesting moment though.
- 38:36This was my first emotional moment of the whole episode
- 38:39because the camera pans over and
- 38:42family room couch, did he just
- 38:46And I got like, I don't know why.
- 38:49I don't know. I'm a little surprised that my
- 38:52first emotional moment of the episode was from Leon, but Leon
- 38:55was asking a concerned question and it really hit as a severity
- 38:59moment for me. I don't know.
- 39:01Did it hit you? This is the first moment where I
- 39:03got angry because the non reaction from Meri was
- 39:10appalling. So she's giving absolutely no
- 39:13reaction if she is just wiping
- 39:19looking pissed off that she's having to do this, looking
- 39:22pissed off that how dare this happened during Leon's day and
- 39:27now she's oh, I'll answer my phone.
- 39:31Kody is giving her the update and she just goes, OK, keep us
- 39:35posted. OK, thanks.
- 39:38Bye. And Leon realizes the severity.
- 39:45So Meri is acting like it's no
- 39:51that countertop in anger, about to put her fist through the
- 39:56countertop. And Leon is the one that notices
- 40:00how severe this is. Leon says.
- 40:03Did he say kidney failure? Wow.
- 40:08And if Leon realizes how serious
- 40:12Besides the fact that Leanne's
- 40:15Oh yeah, Why wouldn't Meri realize how serious this is?
- 40:19Totally. That was completely lost on me.
- 40:22I thought Meri was just going about her business.
- 40:24Maybe it's because Meri always
- 40:28and she looks so pleasant and cheerful in this scene that I
- 40:30just thought everything was normal.
- 40:32Once again, that was me being sarcastic.
- 40:35She did look like, oh God, I'm
- 40:39taking a phone call and whatever.
- 40:40That was completely lost on me
- 40:43Leon asking did he just say kidney failure?
- 40:46And it was the first time where I took a very deep breath and
- 40:50started to feel the feels, 'cause it was like, holy shit,
- 40:52this is happening. And I just was putting myself in
- 40:56the shoes of being someone hearing that news and going holy
- 40:59fuck. But you're right.
- 41:01Meanwhile Meri's like I'm just
- 41:04and actually looking a little not happy about things.
- 41:08She looked pissed. Like God damn it, why is this
- 41:10happening today of all days? And you're allowed to feel that
- 41:13way. You're allowed to be
- 41:14disappointed that Leon's party
- 41:18inconvenience, but to be showing
- 41:23Because she really does look pissed.
- 41:25And she's actually the one that goes wow when she gets off the
- 41:29phone with Kody. Oh, OK.
- 41:32Wow. It's almost like she thinks it's
- 41:34made-up or something. She doesn't.
- 41:36She's not buying it. I don't know.
- 41:39This is where I'm quick for Manger to.
- 41:41Oh, that was nice of Leon to notice and to actually care
- 41:45because Leon's mom doesn't care.
- 41:47We get a couch moment with Christine and Kody where they
- 41:51tell us that Truely has basically no fluids in her, that
- 41:54her kidneys have all but stopped working.
- 41:57They're told by the kidney specialist that they shouldn't
- 42:06Back at Meri's house, the other family members have formed a
- 42:10circle in the family room. So this was a weird transition
- 42:15we get this update from Christine and Kody, and then all
- 42:20of other family members. They're obviously, they're
- 42:21arriving for this goodbye party for Leon, Happy birthday, get
- 42:24the fuck out of here party. And they're all gathered in the
- 42:28family room. And Logan is giving an
- 42:30optimistic update to the younger kids, you know, saying that
- 42:33Truely sick, but hopefully it's not too bad.
- 42:36And yes, she's dehydrated and she might have a kidney
- 42:40infection. They're going to pump a lot of
- 42:46that kidney full of some medicines at the emergency or at
- 43:00And then Logan asks if one of the moms wants to head them up
- 43:10And this is another point when I got pissed.
- 43:14Oh see, I was distracted by Janelle calling it, offering up
- 43:18the prayer because while I am familiar with this terminology,
- 43:22it's not something that I've heard all the time.
- 43:25Usually it would be in my family and where I grew up is like, you
- 43:30So to offer up a prayer, I was like, wow, this is totally cult
- 43:34vibes and very religious indoctrination whatnot.
- 43:36So I was distracted by Janelle's terminology, not necessarily
- 43:40what you were distracted by. Number one, I got pissed that
- 43:46Logan is the one explaining to the little children what is
- 43:49happening with their sick sibling parentification.
- 43:52Having your older child explain to the littles what's going on
- 44:08well, it was your idea. So Aspyn's the one that gathered
- 44:16Worried sick about Truely, instead of the parents, instead
- 44:21of these religious parents deciding to lead by a good
- 44:26example and gather everyone to do a prayer.
- 44:29And we're going to be the leaders.
- 44:31We've got three moms here and we are going to lead the prayer and
- 44:40Christine's little kids here and Aspyn, who is worried sick about
- 44:48those kids feel secure right now.
- 44:50That is fucked up. There are three mothers there
- 44:53and Logan's giving the update and Aspyn's expected to lead the
- 44:55prayer. So then I go quickly from this
- 44:58anger to tears of my own because
- 45:03prayer and basically immediately
- 45:09into sobs like body racking sobs
- 45:15fear for Truely. Just speaking to her character
- 45:20and who she is. She starts out this prayer by
- 45:23saying, dear gracious Heavenly
- 45:26your blessings and everything that you have given us.
- 45:29And it's like this 18 year old
- 45:34for help for her sibling by demonstrating gratitude.
- 45:37I mean, my God, what a better person than I will ever be like.
- 45:43Oh my gosh. And then immediately, like he
- 45:45said, starts breaking down into tears and sobbing and it just
- 45:49speaks to who Aspyn is. I mean, what an incredible
- 45:52person. I just, I don't even know what
- 45:55to say. It made me cry, obviously, but
- 45:58then I was like back and forth
- 46:02because I just couldn't stop thinking.
- 46:05Christine is in the hospital and
- 46:12You can't comfort Aspyn, who is really worried and wanted to
- 46:16pray. Immediately after she starts
- 46:20breaking down into tears and is crying, Isabel breaks hands
- 46:25with her and gives her a hug. And I just thought another
- 46:28wonderful example of a supportive sibling just doesn't
- 46:32care that we're holding hands in
- 46:33Like, I'm going to stop that. I'm going to hug and console my
- 46:37sister and Aspyn's like, I'm sorry you guys.
- 46:40I'm just so stressed out as she's crying into Isabel's
- 46:43shoulder. I mean, my heart just breaks for
- 46:47her. It is heartbreaking.
- 46:49It's Oh my gosh, it makes me feel like they are home alone
- 46:54and got bad news. They're trying to comfort each
- 46:58other and they're all children
- 47:02because regardless of Aspyn's age, she is a child here.
- 47:07She's 17. I think she's a child.
- 47:09This is so scary for her. She treats Truely like her own
- 47:12kid so this is traumatic for her
- 47:19support from anyone other than
- 47:23she plays mom to as well. Well, Speaking of trauma, I'm
- 47:27traumatized because we do witness Robyn going over and
- 47:31hugging Aspyn and telling her that it's going to be OK and
- 47:35consoling her. So the only parent that we see
- 47:38in this footage, which to be fair, is edited and
- 47:41consolidated, we don't know everything that happened in this
- 47:43space, but the editors did leave
- 47:47consoling Aspyn. And then we transitioned to a
- 47:50couch moment where Janelle says that she's proud of Aspyn and
- 47:53Mckelty for stepping up. And she tells us that they
- 47:57raised their kids to shoulder responsibility if they have to.
- 48:03Janelle like I'm going Janelle, Janelle like what the fuck?
- 48:07Another moment where I got angry.
- 48:10And then Robyn follows up Janelle's statement by saying
- 48:14although we want to let our kids
- 48:18raise them with responsibility too.
- 48:20So they're helping as well. So between all of us, the bases
- 48:25are covered. That's what's important.
- 48:29OK. Are the bases covered?
- 48:31Because to me it looks like you guys are stepping back when you
- 48:35should be stepping up and you're giving props to make
- 48:39Healthy and Aspyn for stepping up when Where the fuck are you?
- 48:43Definitely more Janelle in the
- 48:44scene than Robyn to me and that,
- 48:50a host or listener of my Sister wives podcast for us to have to
- 48:54give Robyn any credit. Like at least Robyn goes over
- 48:57and consoles Aspyn. However, in this couch moment,
- 49:01she really does kind of just aligns with Janelle about we
- 49:05have to have these kids step up because we have to raise them
- 49:08with responsibility and. I just had a realization that
- 49:13Janelle is so uncomfortable with
- 49:19comfort a child from what we're seeing.
- 49:23Yeah, she's the working mom, emotionless, doesn't get excited
- 49:28about things. And like you said, we don't know
- 49:32what happened behind the scenes.
- 49:34We don't know if she was comforting if she went over to
- 49:44there alone running the household while Christine is in
- 49:48the hospital literally playing mom.
- 49:50Janelle is that uncomfortable with emotion and it's sad.
- 49:55Janelle has suppressed her own emotions for so long and been
- 50:01stoic for so long and had that blank stare off at the
- 50:07charcuterie board on set instead of showing emotion that she is
- 50:15point. It's painful to watch.
- 50:18And like I said, I kept getting angry and I want to give them
- 50:22the benefit of the doubt and I want to be like, we don't know
- 50:26But over and over again, this entire episode, the parents just
- 50:33They missed opportunities to connect with the children and to
- 50:41While all of these things are being said by Janelle and Robyn,
- 50:47hugs and consoling each other in Meri's home.
- 50:50And we get a moment from Robyn where she tells us that the only
- 50:57faithful. I've seen a lot of amazing
- 50:59things in our lives. We've seen a lot of faith move
- 51:05I was like, OK, this is a bit Hallmark card bit stating the
- 51:10obvious a little. Thanks Robyn.
- 51:12And how do you disagree with that?
- 51:14I guess I don't. Know another one of her practice
- 51:21Later that evening, Kody arrives at Meri's house and the birthday
- 51:30You know whatever. Happy birthday, Leon.
- 51:32He updates them. That Truely wouldn't drink
- 51:35anything. She had the flu and she got
- 51:38dehydrated, so her kidneys started to shut down.
- 51:41She has acute kidney failure and they're going to keep Truely in
- 51:45the hospital for a few days to get her kidneys working again.
- 51:52they may have to do dialysis if the other treatments don't start
- 52:00that in a couch moment. Now, I'm going to point out
- 52:04things start to get a little messy with the episode because
- 52:16with video, so there's a lot of cutting back and forth.
- 52:20And we get an interview moment with Aspyn.
- 52:24And Aspyn says that she feels like nobody is taking this
- 52:29seriously. She says our little baby is in
- 52:39She's freaking out. She says our little baby.
- 52:44And my heart broke for her again, that she feels like the
- 52:52it is. And she's the only one freaking
- 52:55out. It's it's like she's sitting in
- 52:57a burning room screaming fire and everyone else is just
- 53:02playing puzzles and ignoring her or something.
- 53:05Yeah, when Christine was also giving that update about
- 53:08dialysis maybe being an option, she says that they're going to
- 53:15because it's really important that Truely start urinating.
- 53:17So this is the first time we hear that Truely is not peeing
- 53:22or pooping like she's gotten nothing going on with her body
- 53:29supposed to help with. And so that was the first time
- 53:35functioning like kind of period. I mean in the kidney sense or
- 53:39whatever. Yeah, literally giving up the
- 53:42bodily functions that are daily and hourly for some of us after
- 53:48having children. I was going to say daily.
- 53:51That'd be nice. I would love if I only had a few
- 53:56How dehydrated you'd have to be. Oh God, this poor thing.
- 54:02Meri sits down with Kody and Leon on a couch at her place
- 54:06while this party's going on for Leon, and she points out how
- 54:09there has been so much happening and that Kody doesn't need to
- 54:12worry about going with her and Leon to Westminster in the
- 54:14morning. And it seems to be a pretty
- 54:17reasonable conversation from my perspective.
- 54:19I mean, obviously everyone's kind of disappointed because,
- 54:22you know, when you're bringing your kid to college, there's
- 54:25plans to do these things. It's disappointing that they're
- 54:28not happening. But Leon says that they
- 54:31understand. And Kody tells Leon to say their
- 54:34early in the morning. And I feel as though Leon took
- 54:44unrealistic rebuttals or expressing themselves as like a,
- 54:51happen, even though there was a vibe of this is, you know,
- 54:54unfortunate and we're disappointed.
- 54:56Leon seemed genuine and seemed to understand Leon was a brat
- 55:01about the car, but when it came to their sibling being sick,
- 55:07they definitely reigned in the selfishness.
- 55:11So yeah, I was proud of Leon for that because Meri had that
- 55:18attitude while finding out the news and was being bitchy.
- 55:23Leon stepped up here and not being the selfish one.
- 55:27This is also where we learned that Christine is staying in the
- 55:34dialysis or death and I don't know where else to go with it
- 55:37from here. Christine tells us it was a long
- 55:44because Truely would ask for her, but she needed to return to
- 55:47her own bed to be safe because of all the tubes and machines
- 55:51hooked up to Truely. Oh, it's kind of a stark visual.
- 55:58throughout this since we can't
- 56:02part. And they show a picture of
- 56:04Truely laying on her side with
- 56:07And I was just imagining Christine being the big spoon
- 56:11behind her in the bed and trying
- 56:14And how heartbreaking for your
- 56:19wanting comfort and touch and you're kind of scared too
- 56:23because they're so sick. It's heartbreaking.
- 56:28We get to Meri's house and Leon is finishing packing.
- 56:33Leon gives us this little tidbit
- 56:37not taking any of their decor because Meri wants their room to
- 56:43stay the same. Oh.
- 56:48And I thought that was creepy.
- 56:52creepy. Wow.
- 56:54Like a shrine. Meri would rather buy Leon all
- 56:57new decor then let their room change.
- 57:03It was an offhanded comment that
- 57:07be anything, but it was funny to
- 57:11Yeah, that totally reminds me of
- 57:14from other people and seen on other shows where the moms are
- 57:17all about, I can't let the room change.
- 57:19And this is what, when you come home, you need to have your
- 57:21room so it can be whatever. And I'm like, this is so foreign
- 57:24to me because when I left, my parents are probably like, take
- 57:26as much as you can because this is no longer your room.
- 57:29So figure it out. It reminds me of Hallmark movies
- 57:32where the girl always shows up
- 57:36and their room is exactly the same with their varsity letters
- 57:40and their track trophies and just a snapshot in time that's
- 57:45never changing. There's something about that I
- 57:48find odd. But also because I had parents
- 57:53that divorced right when I turned 18 and so my room was no
- 57:59longer in existence. So I mean, what else can I say?
- 58:03I didn't have a parent that had a shrine to me after I left, so
- 58:08maybe I'm just bitter. I don't know, maybe.
- 58:10Let's say we're both bitter. Absolutely.
- 58:13That is funny in those movies when they show those scenes and
- 58:16the room looks like it's a 12 year old's room, be it boy or
- 58:19girl. Like the girls room is always
- 58:21pink with like the ballerina, whatnot.
- 58:23In the boys room has like the basketball, the baseball, the
- 58:26whatever. And it's like when they left,
- 58:28they weren't 12, right? Because this is just strange.
- 58:33So Aspyn shows up to Meri's house and it's Aspyn, Meri,
- 58:39Leon, and Kody is there to say
- 58:44Yeah, it's like early morning before they're going to hit the
- 58:47road. Meri and Leon are going to hit
- 58:49the road. And so they must have made a
- 58:50plan for Aspyn to come over to
- 58:53because Kody calls. Christine Yeah.
- 58:55So they were taking into consideration that they needed
- 58:59to do the update, but also that this is a big day for Leon and
- 59:03saying goodbye to Leon. So they're they're making the
- 59:07best of a shitty situation here.
- 59:10And Christine let's everybody know that they gave Truely this
- 59:15specific medication twice now that is supposed to help her
- 59:20pee. And it did not work either time.
- 59:25medication doesn't work at all.
- 59:27Yeah, and that usually the medication starts working for
- 59:30most recipients of this Med in 20 minutes.
- 59:34So for them to have administered it more than once over the
- 59:39course of several hours, not a good sign.
- 59:42So they all say goodbye to Leon at this point, and Meri and Leon
- 59:54hospital and the doctor has recommended abdominal dialysis
- 59:59rather than blood dialysis as their next step.
- 1:00:02I don't know if that's something
- 1:00:07Truely or why that really is. I don't know much about
- 1:00:11dialysis. I what I know about dialysis.
- 1:00:14OK, this is going to make me sound roll, roll smart.
- 1:00:17Not real smart. Roll smart.
- 1:00:20Is that they put a needle in you, they take things out, they
- 1:00:23clean out what they can. That is basically what the
- 1:00:26kidney function would be and then put the blood back into
- 1:00:29you. So for that to not be happening
- 1:00:32through this out and in, but directly into the abdominal
- 1:00:37area, I feel like it would still
- 1:00:39So I don't know if it's just a
- 1:00:42I think that they would rather
- 1:00:47before kidney dialysis because
- 1:00:51Probably they think maybe they
- 1:00:56easier way. Let's try the easier solution
- 1:00:58before going the difficult route
- 1:01:02they really try to avoid doing kidney dialysis on children as
- 1:01:08young as Truely unless it's necessary.
- 1:01:11So there must be something about the invasiveness.
- 1:01:14And as a mom who had a baby in the NICU, it is not easy to get
- 1:01:22a vein and to see a baby hooked up to that.
- 1:01:27They don't do well with it. Obviously there is a lot of
- 1:01:31adults that don't even do well with something like that.
- 1:01:34I hate needles. I've had my blood drawn many
- 1:01:38times and I hate it. So it's really difficult to get
- 1:01:42a child to stay still and have a procedure like this done.
- 1:01:47It takes a long time to it's, I think it's like hours because
- 1:01:52you're right. They are pumping the blood out
- 1:02:05And I'm sure there's something about getting a child to sit
- 1:02:08still that long and you probably can't give them a Xanax like you
- 1:02:16lot that goes into it. And I, I.
- 1:02:20Was just going to crack a joke about the zanny with the baby
- 1:02:23and then I realized that's like a whole murder thing and we're
- 1:02:29Gosh, I feel so bad for Christine.
- 1:02:32Throughout this episode, I kept thinking back to when my
- 1:02:36youngest was in the NICU and how difficult it was to see that and
- 1:02:45experience that you have. You feel like you're watching
- 1:02:48your child through somebody else's eyes.
- 1:02:51It's I like dissociated. So I can only imagine
- 1:02:56Christina's doing something similar.
- 1:02:57My child was in a situation where he he had his bilirubin
- 1:03:02levels were so high, moms will know this that it was to the
- 1:03:06point of toxicity where he could have had brain damage if they
- 1:03:10didn't correct it. And it was so traumatic and I
- 1:03:14didn't even realize it until months later when I had
- 1:03:18postpartum depression. So for Christine to have gone
- 1:03:21through postpartum depression with Truely and Truely to only
- 1:03:24be 3 years old and have a life threatening scare like this, I
- 1:03:33Christine has this false sense that her kids are being looked
- 1:03:43case and it was hard for me to see that.
- 1:03:45It really pissed me off. That's why I kept getting so
- 1:03:48heated during this. So getting back into that, this
- 1:03:52is another instance where I got pissed because we get to
- 1:03:56Christine's house and we're having a one-on-one with Aspyn
- 1:04:05Aspyn says that all of the kids are cooperating and doing their
- 1:04:09jobs, AKA their chores. But it's kind of depressing
- 1:04:13there. Right now.
- 1:04:14She's just waiting on updates from her mom and she starts
- 1:04:18tearing up and crying again. My heart broke for her because
- 1:04:33being comforted and people should be stepping up to help
- 1:04:37you guys? Aspyn, during this conversation
- 1:04:39with camera, is doing laundry.
- 1:04:48I don't even know what word to
- 1:04:50It. Yeah, it was just, it was
- 1:04:54definitely something because she's putting clothes from the
- 1:04:57washer to the dryer and talking about how everyone's doing the
- 1:05:00best they can and the kids are
- 1:05:03And it sounded like she was a mom giving an update about a
- 1:05:06situation that is not the case
- 1:05:11It's an overwhelming situation
- 1:05:14a 17 year old child. So I just cannot, yeah, I can't
- 1:05:20stress that enough. And yeah, she was doing laundry
- 1:05:22while she was doing the interview and starting to cry
- 1:05:26and then trying to hide the fact
- 1:05:31I just wanted to hug her through
- 1:05:35Christine tells us that she doesn't know how to provide
- 1:05:37updates to the kids and to Aspyn
- 1:05:42She does recognize that Aspyn is
- 1:05:45how to approach it because she
- 1:05:48she's telling us. And I, you know, I can
- 1:05:51understand that. I mean, what are you supposed to
- 1:05:54call and say? There's no good news?
- 1:05:56I think to your point, where the
- 1:05:59Where the fuck is Janelle? Where the fuck is Robyn?
- 1:06:02You know, come on ladies, Seriously.
- 1:06:04Yeah, they should have been stepping up and coming over
- 1:06:08asking, you know, what she needed.
- 1:06:09And maybe they did. Maybe they did behind the
- 1:06:12scenes, but I think that production would have shown it.
- 1:06:15I think that that would have been made to be a point to show
- 1:06:18off on the show. So I really don't think that
- 1:06:22they stepped up at all. Yeah.
- 1:06:24Don't you think production would
- 1:06:26cute moment of robbing over here
- 1:06:30I could see that, you know, there's only so many things they
- 1:06:32can fit into the 42 minutes or
- 1:06:34But I do think they would have
- 1:06:37And because while Aspyn's talking, they show her doing the
- 1:06:41laundry and whatever and she is speaking to camera in the
- 1:06:45laundry room, but there's also
- 1:06:47showing her doing the laundry.
- 1:06:50moment to show her doing anything with a sister wife,
- 1:06:52which they didn't show us any footage.
- 1:06:55So that was either a choice or
- 1:06:58Yeah. Christine does get an
- 1:07:01opportunity to return home briefly to gather things before
- 1:07:04returning to the hospital, and
- 1:07:07motions of trying to pretend everything will be OK.
- 1:07:10You know Truely's numbers are still bad, so they're going to
- 1:07:14begin dialysis that evening. Kody stayed the night at the
- 1:07:19hospital one night so that she
- 1:07:22to her house and be with her kids for a night before Truely
- 1:07:26started kidney dialysis the next
- 1:07:29And Christine says that it's been really hard to see her
- 1:07:32little baby on this big giant hospital bed and hooked up to
- 1:07:36all of these machines. And they show us more pictures
- 1:07:39of it and it is very hard to see.
- 1:07:42She's just this tiny little thing in this massive hospital
- 1:07:45bed. And to add drama to a three-year
- 1:07:48old going through this is that
- 1:07:52So if you've ever seen the show,
- 1:07:54about. And if you haven't seen the
- 1:07:55show, Truely scrumptious is little.
- 1:07:58We talked about her blonde little florals of hair.
- 1:08:01She's just so cute and tiny and she's got the little squeaky
- 1:08:05voice, which they literally in
- 1:08:08Truely squeaks as the subtitle when she's excited because she
- 1:08:13squeaks when she speaks. She's I've know I've said it
- 1:08:15before, but it reminds me of the
- 1:08:18the. Cindy Lou Who.
- 1:08:20Yes, she has that vibe. She's just so tiny and little
- 1:08:23and little. A little, Truely.
- 1:08:25So the photos are very stark when she's in that big adult
- 1:08:30hospital bed. And in traditional Sister Wives
- 1:08:34fashion, we get a seamless transition to Meri and Leon
- 1:08:36arriving at the school near Salt
- 1:08:40to Leon's dorm room. Of course, it's a tiny space,
- 1:08:43and they show Leon and Meri's faces as they're in the room and
- 1:08:47the dorm coordinate, the Dr. the
- 1:08:51The D resident something I don't
- 1:08:57The RM? The RN?
- 1:09:00No, that's a nurse. RN I know whatever it is
- 1:09:03something. Like that?
- 1:09:04Yeah. Yeah, yeah, the, the, the person
- 1:09:06who's been in the dorm before and is go showing them the thing
- 1:09:09and, you know, here's the keys, fill out the paperwork, blah,
- 1:09:11blah, blah. And it's funny because the dorm
- 1:09:13person is like the nice thing about being on the 3rd floor is
- 1:09:15you get bunk beds. So you have a little more
- 1:09:18whatever. And they're in this tiny space,
- 1:09:20and both Meri and Leon are looking around like that's a
- 1:09:23prison cell, because that's what
- 1:09:26love. Oh my gosh, I think I'd rather
- 1:09:29have a floor bed than a bunk bed
- 1:09:37don't know. Oh.
- 1:09:39They show Meri and Leon bringing
- 1:09:42And then, so, you know, cue the humorous montage of clips of
- 1:09:45things falling off the carts as they're bringing in stuff from
- 1:09:47the car. I didn't really put the pieces
- 1:09:50together that most of it was probably new stuff because they
- 1:09:54would not allow Leon on to take that night stand or the light
- 1:09:57on the night stand. She had to get a new light that
- 1:10:00could fall out of the cart onto the sidewalk.
- 1:10:02And it was great because there
- 1:10:05falling onto people on the sidewalk and then like grabbing
- 1:10:09it to help them. It was ridiculous.
- 1:10:12On to the cement. It was like watching a clown
- 1:10:15show. Classic Meri.
- 1:10:17Classic Meri? Meri asks.
- 1:10:20Leon, what are you going to do
- 1:10:23And Leon says I don't know, go
- 1:10:26And this is where I completely
- 1:10:30about Leon's story for the rest of the episode.
- 1:10:32I was like, chapter done, I am
- 1:10:34Your mom just asked you what are
- 1:10:36And Leon says, I don't know, go to school.
- 1:10:38Meri thinks that it'll take her two weeks for it to really hit
- 1:10:41her, that Leon's gone and not there.
- 1:10:44That is a lie. That is a lie.
- 1:10:46We all know it's going to hit Meri as soon as she gets back in
- 1:10:49the car and starts driving away from Westminster.
- 1:10:51She's going to be crying, steering that car, singing
- 1:10:56church hymns on the way back, just driving back.
- 1:11:02Lord, I lift your name on high.
- 1:11:07Back in Vegas, Christine updates us that after 14 hours, the
- 1:11:11dialysis is not working on poor little.
- 1:11:14Truely scrumptious. Janelle has a talking head
- 1:11:17moment where she tells us about how she's impressed that
- 1:11:19Christine is holding it all together and holding it all
- 1:11:21together very well. Now, you had some feels about
- 1:11:24the sister wives here. So does this give you the feels
- 1:11:28of like, well, yeah, I guess you're impressed because you're
- 1:11:32not fucking doing anything for her fucking children.
- 1:11:34I mean, I'm putting words into your mouth, honey.
- 1:11:36How do you feel? Janelle says it's almost
- 1:11:40textbook the way she's holding it together.
- 1:11:43I didn't know because she's so sensitive.
- 1:11:46You know what I mean? Yeah.
- 1:11:49I didn't know that she had this backbone.
- 1:11:51It's kind of a mean thing to say.
- 1:11:55And she's not even sure what she's saying while she's saying
- 1:11:59it. And it's just very awkward.
- 1:12:02And then I thought to myself, this is a trauma response that
- 1:12:16together. You know, What are you going to
- 1:12:18do? You've got a child in the
- 1:12:21hospital that you're trying to be strong for.
- 1:12:23You don't want your little child to know how scared you really
- 1:12:27are and what are you going to do?
- 1:12:29What choice do you have then to step up and have a backbone I
- 1:12:34guess? Yeah, didn't have the vibes of
- 1:12:41manages certain things, so. I don't think that being strong
- 1:12:45or keeping it together when your child's in the hospital
- 1:12:49means that you got a backbone. That's not what I think of.
- 1:12:53I think I would say she's being really strong right now and I
- 1:12:58feel like there's so many other things you could say then what
- 1:13:08handling of the situation, but the actual words are a bit, you
- 1:13:12know, condescending or whatever you were saying backhanded Where
- 1:13:20dismissive, don't you think? Yeah, she's a mom.
- 1:13:23This is what moms do. You step it up.
- 1:13:26You know you have to. You don't have a choice.
- 1:13:29It just it left a bad taste in my mouth.
- 1:13:32Kody says that Truely is only three and does not understand
- 1:13:38what's happening. That reminder kind of knocked my
- 1:13:50referencing the fact that she's three kind of this whole time.
- 1:13:57It dawned on me that Truely is
- 1:14:00only three because Kody is just flat out says it.
- 1:14:03Yeah, this is the first time in the episode they actually say
- 1:14:05her age, or at least that I noted it as well.
- 1:14:08I've been in the same boat, referencing her as three simply
- 1:14:11because Kody tells us at this point she's three years old.
- 1:14:14And it's like, oh shit, three years old.
- 1:14:18And when he continues on with this, telling her, you know,
- 1:14:21let's have a pee and poop party,
- 1:14:24diaper. And we're, you know, trying to
- 1:14:26motivate her to try, which, you know, what does that even mean
- 1:14:30'cause as an adult she. Can't help it.
- 1:14:32But yeah, like it's tough 'cause
- 1:14:36know, it's been multiple days.
- 1:14:39grasping for straws and trying
- 1:14:41He said that she looked like she
- 1:14:45He felt like she was exhausted
- 1:14:49she was giving up on everything.
- 1:14:51So he was trying to get her spirits up and trying to be
- 1:14:54silly and saying if you do this, if you pee and poop in your
- 1:14:57diaper, we're going to have a party.
- 1:14:59We're going to have a Princess pee poop party and being silly.
- 1:15:02And that she did kind of start
- 1:15:05to laugh and she came to life a little bit again.
- 1:15:08And that it was good to see her get a little energized about
- 1:15:12something. And I gave props to Kody.
- 1:15:16He knew how to get her spirits
- 1:15:19Granted, she can't help the fact
- 1:15:22pooping. It's literally that her kidneys
- 1:15:24aren't working, dude. It's not that she's just sitting
- 1:15:26there holding her peeing, but whatever.
- 1:15:29I get the sentiment of it. And Kody was really trying here.
- 1:15:34Well, Speaking of giving, I don't know any feels to Kody
- 1:15:38other than hate, anger, and disappointment.
- 1:15:41He does take a brief exodus from
- 1:15:44Janelle's house for a little bit, where he tells everybody
- 1:15:46at Janelle's house that he listened to Truely scream for
- 1:15:51two hours. And he tells Janelle that the
- 1:15:54doctor said she may be there for up to 10 days.
- 1:15:57And Janelle is shocked to hear this.
- 1:15:59But this was a moment where I had that.
- 1:16:02Listening to your kids scream for two hours, It doesn't matter
- 1:16:11point. There is a couch moment where
- 1:16:13Kody and Christine are sharing an update and Kody says the
- 1:16:16nurse told them that in cases like this, they don't expect the
- 1:16:24camera, Christine is next to him and she is sobbing.
- 1:16:27She's just like crying into her hands and holding her head.
- 1:16:32And it was a tough moment. I think that the nurse that told
- 1:16:40discharged. I don't think a nurse would ever
- 1:16:52like this, we just don't expect them to leave.
- 1:16:54So this is a amazing, you know that?
- 1:16:57Totally makes sense. Yes and yeah.
- 1:16:59And and takes the sharp corners off of my emotional response
- 1:17:02because I was like, Oh my God, like what?
- 1:17:05The nurses when we were in the NICU were all kept coming over
- 1:17:15So he was for them, for a NICU nurse, a big baby.
- 1:17:19So they were all coming over and talking about, oh, we all had to
- 1:17:27really small. So it was hysterical to me.
- 1:17:30And so nurses, they get excited in cases like this and I'm sure
- 1:17:34this nurse is used to seeing devastating things happen.
- 1:17:37And so for a nurse to see a child with such a severe case of
- 1:17:48my job matters. So I think they probably said it
- 1:17:55made me feel good about humanity.
- 1:17:56What's going on? This is a strange feeling for
- 1:17:59me. I don't really know.
- 1:18:00You know, I always say that nurses are either complete
- 1:18:03sadists and they hate people, or they are the sweetest people in
- 1:18:08the entire world and amazing. And there are some.
- 1:18:11Most nurses I would say are amazing, amazing people.
- 1:18:15And thank God for nurses. Seriously.
- 1:18:18I think everyone listening would probably agree that most nurses
- 1:18:21are salt of the earth. And then you always got to have
- 1:18:25that one. No, I'm just kidding.
- 1:18:26I'm just kidding. Yes, love Nurse.
- 1:18:29Ratchet One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.
- 1:18:32Cuckoo. Cuckoo Cuckoo.
- 1:18:34After this emotional update, there's a bunch of clips, Sun
- 1:18:39coming up, sun going down, the family doing miscellaneous
- 1:18:42activities and chores, basically demonstrating to us as viewers
- 1:18:54And then we get to the hospital and it is day 9.
- 1:18:57Truely has been in the hospital for 9 days at this point and we
- 1:19:02find out that the dialysis worked the night before.
- 1:19:05Her numbers just started getting better and better and they just
- 1:19:09keep getting better. And they show Aspyn coming to
- 1:19:13the hospital to see Truely. And Aspyn is so relieved and so
- 1:19:19excited to see her and Truely could kind of care less.
- 1:19:24Yes. Oh, you know, children are just
- 1:19:29so honest. And I'm sure she actually was
- 1:19:32really excited to see her but just wasn't showing it because
- 1:19:38They really are.
- 1:19:39They know how to humble you real
- 1:19:43Oh. Yeah, they tell us that Truely's
- 1:19:45been improving rather quickly and that things are looking
- 1:19:48great, which is wonderful. Kody calls Robyn's phone and
- 1:19:51she's on speaker. Christine tells everyone
- 1:19:54Truely's coming home tomorrow, and all the kids start yelling
- 1:19:57with Glee. And Christine is joyous on the
- 1:20:00phone and my eyes are filled with tears.
- 1:20:05Oh, I was so happy. I was so excited.
- 1:20:09Truely is improved enough where they won't even have to do
- 1:20:11dialysis at home. She's recovering that quickly.
- 1:20:13Which, you know, I don't know the details and all this stuff.
- 1:20:16I'm certainly no medical professional.
- 1:20:17But there's been a few things mentioned through this episode
- 1:20:19where I'm going. Oh, OK, I guess it is
- 1:20:24television, so it doesn't all have to be real.
- 1:20:26So that's that, I guess. She's just so much better.
- 1:20:29She doesn't even have to do at
- 1:20:31And we're all happy now. I was genuinely happy because
- 1:20:34the family's reaction was so excited and just reminded me of
- 1:20:37getting good news about family
- 1:20:40that. Yeah, I didn't know you could do
- 1:20:41dialysis at home. So you're right, there seems to
- 1:20:44be something there and maybe I
- 1:20:47was an option, but. It is an option, yes.
- 1:20:51And even though I don't know anything about dialysis, I, I
- 1:20:54knew that that was an option. But you know that must be.
- 1:20:57I take it all back. A new medical miracle.
- 1:20:59It's probably for people with money, like, let's be real.
- 1:21:02Seriously, to have a machine like that at home?
- 1:21:04Small fortune. So it's the next day and we're
- 1:21:08back at the hospital now and they show Kody carrying Truely
- 1:21:13out to the car and she's all bundled up in a big fluffy
- 1:21:18purple blanket being carried out
- 1:21:22She looks so cute in Kody's arms.
- 1:21:25She looks so teeny tiny and it
- 1:21:30so genuinely happy and he is glowing looking at her and
- 1:21:35Christina's glowing and Gwendolyn came along.
- 1:21:39Yes, little Gwen. Yes, and she is so excited as
- 1:21:44well. And they get in the car and
- 1:21:45Gwendolyn has to let Truely know
- 1:21:49her while she was gone. And this was very, very adorable
- 1:21:54to me because it just reminds me
- 1:21:56you're feeling helpless and all you can do are those small
- 1:22:01things. And it's very loving that they
- 1:22:08And you know, I don't know if that would have been something
- 1:22:24So minuscule, but it means a lot.
- 1:22:27Those are the things that you can do when you're a little kid.
- 1:22:32are raising them with compassion
- 1:22:38compassionate and loving to others, you know?
- 1:22:40Yeah, very cute in that way where, like you're saying it's
- 1:22:46it's so adorable that that's what they could do and that's
- 1:22:49what they did. And she was genuinely excited to
- 1:22:55cleaned. Your room again, Truely could
- 1:23:00care less. Yeah.
- 1:23:02When they arrive back at Christine's home and walk in,
- 1:23:05several family members are there to greet Truely.
- 1:23:07And she's so excited and they're all excited.
- 1:23:10And this is where I was saying earlier.
- 1:23:12The closed captioning says Truely squeaks.
- 1:23:14Because she walked in and she made this like high pitched
- 1:23:17noise and it was so adorable. And everyone is so excited that
- 1:23:21she's back. One of the other kids remarks on
- 1:23:26Yeah, they were skinny. She was so tiny.
- 1:23:30She was teeny tiny. She hadn't eaten for at least
- 1:23:32nine days, it seems like, you know?
- 1:23:35And as she's walking in from the
- 1:23:38the place, and Kody's trying to tell her to slow down, and
- 1:23:41they wanted to help her walk in because she can barely stand
- 1:23:45up. My God.
- 1:23:46But she goes inside and she's so excited.
- 1:23:50That totally stood out to me because he's carrying her to the
- 1:24:00she gets out of the car and starts walking in this unstable
- 1:24:04manner. And it's like, OK, girl, like,
- 1:24:07It totally reminds me of one of those moments as an adult or as
- 1:24:09a parent. You would be like, oh, God, OK,
- 1:24:12OK, OK, just let it happen, I guess.
- 1:24:14Even though please don't. Oh God.
- 1:24:17Christine tells us that the first seven days that Truely was
- 1:24:25that Truely is a little miracle and that it is amazing.
- 1:24:29It's a miracle. Seven days of being scared and
- 1:24:34I mean, that has to be hugely impactful and no doubt the
- 1:24:38scariest days of I mean, I don't know what would rival that.
- 1:24:41I, you know, and especially in Christine's story, we haven't
- 1:24:44heard a lot of trauma stories. What is it like her mom leaving
- 1:24:47the cult obviously like that doesn't tee up.
- 1:24:49So God, it must have been frightening.
- 1:24:51Yeah, there is nothing scarier than your child being sick and
- 1:24:57I'm sure it it was and probably still is, you know, one of the
- 1:25:06imagine their child in a situation where they could
- 1:25:10possibly die. You literally just go into fight
- 1:25:18time. And she is a little miracle, a
- 1:25:24And so, you know, from here on till the end of the episode, we
- 1:25:28kind of get these what feel good things, these, you know,
- 1:25:31retrospects, these yadda, yadda Yadda's.
- 1:25:33And I'm not going to hate on them.
- 1:25:36I'm not going to hate on them. But I'm just pointing out here
- 1:25:43likes to think they're a storyteller, that when people
- 1:25:47have these reflective moments and everything's all glossy and
- 1:25:51amazing and it's like, right. But we're watching ATV show
- 1:25:54about your family being a disaster.
- 1:25:56And it's not going to take much time before we're back to
- 1:25:59ripping the shit out of it because you're teeing it up on a
- 1:26:04So keep that in mind as we talk about the feel good moments
- 1:26:08here. Everyone think to my level.
- 1:26:10Yeah, the storytelling of this is out of order to They're not
- 1:26:17We don't even find out that this is a party, really.
- 1:26:22We think, oh, there's a welcome home banner and everyone's there
- 1:26:28Then we see Truely going to her room and running straight for
- 1:26:33her toys. And then we see everyone around
- 1:26:36a table and they show Kody and hailing Helium and singing a
- 1:26:40song about Truely Scrumptious to Truely Scrumptious in his Helium
- 1:26:52So they are not great at storytelling.
- 1:26:55They're just not. I don't know.
- 1:26:58Yeah, the producers now, But before we get to the party, we
- 1:27:05and Christine. And that's what I was referring
- 1:27:07to, is kind of teeing up this narrative of the challenge and
- 1:27:15So Kody says that this entire experience has been a challenge.
- 1:27:20and we reconnected with each other.
- 1:27:22In the busyness of life, sometimes you can take each
- 1:27:25other for granted and you can take your children for granted.
- 1:27:28And we got pretty close to the
- 1:27:31And Christine says you realize
- 1:27:33don't matter. Kody follows up with we should
- 1:27:37just forget about the unimportant things and just
- 1:27:39remember the important things.
- 1:27:42good wake up call. This sentiment is short lived,
- 1:27:46let's be real. And just in life, it is like,
- 1:27:48you know, we can all be reminded
- 1:27:50And then the next week you're like, are you fucking kidding?
- 1:27:52That bitch at work did this again, You know, like it's just
- 1:27:54how life is. The problems are still there.
- 1:27:57You might realize that these things are unimportant, but it
- 1:28:01doesn't mean that these problems
- 1:28:04Doesn't mean they're not going
- 1:28:07You can't just forgive and forget when it comes to needing
- 1:28:12to fix things that are broken in
- 1:28:15They're going to be patterns that keep repeating themselves.
- 1:28:18So yeah, you know, this is a wake up call.
- 1:28:21It should be a wake up call to
- 1:28:27move on. I think that there's a mindset
- 1:28:31there that they don't have. They didn't have a mindset shift
- 1:28:35to, OK, these are the important things we need to really work
- 1:28:40on this. That and the other thing they
- 1:28:42just went to their old ways of, Oh my God, life is short.
- 1:28:47You know what, that thing that
- 1:28:50don't even need to talk about it.
- 1:28:51God, that doesn't matter anymore.
- 1:28:53Well, it does. And you're looking at this the
- 1:28:56wrong way, and you should be using this as an opportunity to
- 1:28:59work on yourselves maybe. I don't know.
- 1:29:03Which they obviously we've seen time and time again do not do.
- 1:29:06And that pattern does not change.
- 1:29:08No, this also reminds me a little bit of, and I don't know
- 1:29:11if this correlation is correct, so please, please correct me in
- 1:29:15the comments if I'm wrong, but
- 1:29:20reminding me a bit of when someone leaves rehab.
- 1:29:23No, I love it. I love this translation.
- 1:29:25It's so good. Someone gets sober, someone
- 1:29:27leaves rehab and I think the phrase is like Purple cloud or
- 1:29:31something where there's this perspective of the world and
- 1:29:36how, oh, now that I know this,
- 1:29:39this, everything's going to be
- 1:29:41I'm going to approach everything
- 1:29:42My relationships are all going
- 1:29:44My scenarios, I know how to tackle things.
- 1:29:45I have the tools, I have all of this.
- 1:29:48When in all reality, you're going back to what your same
- 1:29:51family, your same home, your same job, your same
- 1:29:53circumstances, and your perspective is purple cloud.
- 1:29:58It's like everything is. I have all this whole new
- 1:30:01perspective on things and then
- 1:30:05your life and your perspectives might be a little different.
- 1:30:09Yeah, that's why they say when
- 1:30:13family should be involved and you should have the necessary
- 1:30:17things set up for when you leave
- 1:30:20apartment that's the block from your drug dealer.
- 1:30:22Maybe you set up a different place to live or whatever.
- 1:30:26Set your circumstances up, set
- 1:30:29And this family just never does that things like this happen to
- 1:30:33them. And instead of taking it as a
- 1:30:36learning moment, they take it as
- 1:30:39Let's just push that shit further under the rug and
- 1:30:41pretend that we're happy for a
- 1:30:46Insanity. It's the definition of insanity.
- 1:30:48Well, we have a big non party,
- 1:30:52ceremony gathering in the backyard to plan, so we've got
- 1:30:56to get back to that eventually.
- 1:30:57But let's get back to the shitty storytelling, because we finally
- 1:31:04Christine that it is indeed a pee poo party.
- 1:31:07Yes, that is why they are there. They are there to celebrate the
- 1:31:11pee and the Poohs, and they're getting better.
- 1:31:13And literally when they started out, I was going, are they
- 1:31:16having a tea party just because Truely's back?
- 1:31:19Because there's just set the scene for y'all.
- 1:31:23There's balloons, there's teapots, there's tea cups.
- 1:31:25They're all around this table, as you're saying.
- 1:31:27And you're going, oh, that's a party.
- 1:31:29And they're wearing crowns and tiaras.
- 1:31:31And they spend a moment showing Aspyn and I'm going, do we miss
- 1:31:35something? Is this Aspyn's party?
- 1:31:36And then I'm like, no, it's not Aspyn's party, It's Truely
- 1:31:38party. She just got home, so what's
- 1:31:39going on here? Later it's referenced that it is
- 1:31:42a Princess pea and poop tea party or whatever, but not right
- 1:31:46away. So you're just kind of left
- 1:31:48going. Did I miss something here?
- 1:31:51And that's when Kody takes one
- 1:31:54it up and does the helium voice of Truely Scrumptious.
- 1:31:57I love Truely scrumptious. And it's like, OK, well, this is
- 1:32:00cute. But once again, why are we doing
- 1:32:02this? What is happening?
- 1:32:03And we do eventually get there, but my God.
- 1:32:06Why wasn't that the first of the
- 1:32:09us up and then show us Truely going to her room and all the
- 1:32:13other things that they showed us
- 1:32:16Yeah, it's weird. I don't understand this editing
- 1:32:19team. I Truely don't get it.
- 1:32:23What the fuck? They confuse us endlessly.
- 1:32:27We question ourselves frequently
- 1:32:30differently. And it's not our fault.
- 1:32:33They set us up for failure, these producers.
- 1:32:36Yeah, the editing is Yeah, it's definitely lacking.
- 1:32:42Kody has a moment where he says everything in life seems
- 1:32:45trivial when it's compared to the safety, health and life of
- 1:32:47your child. Well, once again, OK, Yeah, OK.
- 1:32:51You're in your purple cloud. Like, Yep, your child survived a
- 1:32:53near death experience. So it does put everything into
- 1:32:56perspective. I'm looking down at my wrist
- 1:32:58going, how long does this perspective last?
- 1:33:00I don't think it's probably very
- 1:33:04Yeah, he says. Everything in life seems
- 1:33:06trivial, even trite. Trite, yes.
- 1:33:10Even trite when compared to the life of your child and the
- 1:33:14health and safety of your children.
- 1:33:16Oh God. Trite.
- 1:33:19I mean, this is the only statement of that that I do
- 1:33:21believe. Because the health and safety of
- 1:33:24your children, Yeah, no shit. Everything should seem trivial
- 1:33:28and trite compared to that. I think even shitty parents
- 1:33:33would prefer their children be
- 1:33:38I don't know. Even deadbeat losers that are
- 1:33:43not there for their children probably don't want them to go
- 1:33:46to the hospital. Right.
- 1:33:49I don't know. I just wish in my sick, demented
- 1:33:53world, my sick demented brain,
- 1:33:56got. I'm just wishing that four
- 1:33:59months after this, when Kody's
- 1:34:04to receive a gift from his sweet, shy, pretty wife, Robyn,
- 1:34:10going to get some of that bland chicken.
- 1:34:13But before. No, no, no, no, it's not one of
- 1:34:15those nights. It's one of those nights where
- 1:34:17just Kody gets serviced. I wish that I could have been
- 1:34:20his guardian Angel and gone into
- 1:34:25is trite in comparison to the health and safety and security
- 1:34:29of your children. Oh my gosh, and baby Saul is
- 1:34:36just sleeping in the bed right
- 1:34:41Across the king size head, yes.
- 1:34:44God. Like oh there's baby Saul next
- 1:34:49nothing's in his ear. Oh, what a demented world that
- 1:34:59having this sick, perverted moment, we get a clip of Truely.
- 1:35:03Little, Truely. Scrumptious.
- 1:35:04And she is so cute. I couldn't tell what the hell
- 1:35:06was going on with what she was
- 1:35:08It was like a knit sweater with arms but gaps between the
- 1:35:12limbs. I don't know what was going on.
- 1:35:14Do you know what was going on?
- 1:35:16She was wearing fingerless glove
- 1:35:21her arm that matched her sweater and then a Tutu.
- 1:35:25It looked like a little outfit
- 1:35:28worn or a Disney star from that day.
- 1:35:32Ashley Tisdale ask or something.
- 1:35:34It was cute on her, but it definitely reminded me of a
- 1:35:39Disney star layer layering the odd things.
- 1:35:43It did look cute. I just, you know, blame it on me
- 1:35:50looking at other than Truely in some fabric.
- 1:35:52And Truely tells us that she's so happy to be out.
- 1:35:56Oh, do you have this quote, honey?
- 1:35:58Do you want to do your best? Truely?
- 1:35:59It might be a little creepy for me to talk like a child, but
- 1:36:03we'll try it. Oh, honey, this would.
- 1:36:05This certainly wouldn't be the first time.
- 1:36:06You sound creepy on this podcast.
- 1:36:08Give it a go, honey. Give us your best, Truely.
- 1:36:11Knock him out. She's still alive.
- 1:36:13She's here. We can celebrate.
- 1:36:15Don't be trite about everything. Give us your best, Truely.
- 1:36:18I'm so happy to be out of the hospital.
- 1:36:22My pictures brown on my head. I like drinking tea at my tea
- 1:36:32party because I lay down and I have so much fun.
- 1:36:38She's just saying nonsensical cute little kid things and
- 1:36:43rolling around on the couch and it's adorable.
- 1:36:45She is literally rolling around like side to side and flick
- 1:36:49flailing her body around saying these sentences.
- 1:36:52And it was cute. It was cute even though you only
- 1:36:58Honey, it's. Giving Stewart look what I can
- 1:37:05adorable that they gave her her own moment on the couch.
- 1:37:09She earned it. She earned that.
- 1:37:13She earned that solo interview. You get it, girl.
- 1:37:17After we get the magic of Truely Scrumptious alone on the couch
- 1:37:26prioritizing her children more since all of this happened, and
- 1:37:29she talks a little bit about being in the hospital and seeing
- 1:37:34Yeah, she tells us that she saw other parents that were regulars
- 1:37:41These other families, they have to put their lives on hold while
- 1:37:47And she says that this has made her very thankful for her sister
- 1:37:59She says there's no way I could have done it without you.
- 1:38:04And I threw up in my mouth a little bit because she is being
- 1:38:10so genuine here. And she thinks that her sister
- 1:38:18So she's in the hospital with her sick child.
- 1:38:21Like, thank God I've got my sister wives.
- 1:38:23They're holding down the Fort, holding down my house.
- 1:38:26Meanwhile they're probably getting their nails done in
- 1:38:30Robyn's case and Janelle's case. Who the fuck knows?
- 1:38:35Meri's packaging up jewelry, pretending to while she's
- 1:38:40talking to strangers online. Who knows what they were really
- 1:38:43doing, but I hate to break it to you, Christine, they weren't
- 1:38:47holding down your Fort Aspyn, fortunately.
- 1:38:49Aspyn was holding down that. Fort so who knows what she was
- 1:38:57back immediately after saying thank you to them, she'd
- 1:39:01probably be backtracking. The shade, the shade of it all.
- 1:39:05Aspyn was even going to Meri's
- 1:39:07and other Sister Wives houses for updates from Christine.
- 1:39:12They weren't going to Christine's house for these
- 1:39:14updates. What the fuck?
- 1:39:17Oh, I don't know, honey, I don't
- 1:39:19They just always know how to leave us on a high note.
- 1:39:23And they tried, they really tried to hear with this nice
- 1:39:26ending that thank you so much to
- 1:39:29I couldn't have done it without you.
- 1:39:30And if that was the reality, that would have been a good note
- 1:39:34for us to end on. The time has come not for you to
- 1:39:39lip sync for your life, but for you to tell us who your mustard
- 1:39:43seed is this episode. And I already know who you're
- 1:39:46going to pick, and I'm already
- 1:39:47I will allow you, I will allow
- 1:39:50One what are you going to be because I've.
- 1:39:51Given it to this person a couple
- 1:39:55allow you to have. It you were the original person
- 1:39:58to smear shit all over Aspyn's
- 1:40:01podcast, you were. The one, well, she deserved it
- 1:40:04at that moment in time, I'm fairly certain it was well
- 1:40:08deserved. I'm going to give my mustard
- 1:40:11seed to Christine because I know
- 1:40:16the hospital with a sick child and to be worrying about your
- 1:40:20other children and be doing all the things at once and trying
- 1:40:25to keep your own sanity and stay
- 1:40:31Because you got to put on a front and be strong for your
- 1:40:34child. Because you cannot let that
- 1:40:36little teeny tiny human know how
- 1:40:40That would just everything would
- 1:40:41You can't do that. So I give her props for
- 1:40:46everything from start to finish in this episode.
- 1:40:50Other Well, I take that back. I give her props from going to
- 1:40:55the hospital to finish. Oh yes.
- 1:40:58Because it took us a little while to get there.
- 1:41:00So a little iffy, a little shaky
- 1:41:06she brought it home in the end, yeah.
- 1:41:09So as I anticipated you were going to leave me being the
- 1:41:12bland milquetoast of this podcast while you took the
- 1:41:15interesting Rd. I'm going to have to give my
- 1:41:20mustard seed to Aspyn, who earned it and deserves it for
- 1:41:23stepping into the role of mother
- 1:41:26supposed mothers on the same polygamist compound property.
- 1:41:30Polygdesac. What, Not doing whatever they
- 1:41:32were doing while she was running
- 1:41:35Christine was in the hospital.
- 1:41:40already talked about earlier in this episode, leading the
- 1:41:42prayer, asking for help for her sibling, teeing up the
- 1:41:46thankfulness for what they have,
- 1:41:50in that. And Aspyn has demonstrated to us
- 1:41:53repeatedly over and over again
- 1:41:55citizen of the United States of America, a respectable
- 1:41:58individual. And Aspyn, if you ever hear
- 1:42:00this, which I kind of hope you
- 1:42:03family through the mud over and over again, we love you and we
- 1:42:07respect you, and you have earned
- 1:42:10You've earned more than one, and
- 1:42:12one. Kudos to you, Aspyn.
- 1:42:14Hurrah. Now shit stain is going to be a
- 1:42:16little more fun. Who do you want to drag through
- 1:42:19the toilet bowl? I'm going to have to go with
- 1:42:23Janelle for my shit stain this time around.
- 1:42:27I didn't like the quote about we raise our children to have to
- 1:42:32step up. It felt old school.
- 1:42:36I didn't like it. I didn't like that she threw the
- 1:42:46I feel like she should have taken over and Aspyn already
- 1:42:51initiated the prayer circle. Now you as the mother can step
- 1:43:02averse to comforting the children.
- 1:43:05It seemed like she just seemed very off and distant this
- 1:43:11episode, and I didn't like it. I got a bad vibe from her.
- 1:43:16I don't know, I didn't like it this episode for her.
- 1:43:21And it's not even really one thing.
- 1:43:23It's just kind of a feeling I had during the episode,
- 1:43:27specifically about her reactions to emotions and the different
- 1:43:32things going on. And such a contrast to recent
- 1:43:35episodes where we've been singing her praise about being a
- 1:43:45having a good attitude or a good perspective, a good go get
- 1:43:49em vibe. And then this episode, I agree
- 1:43:54What about you? Who's going to get your schmear?
- 1:43:59pickings for shit stains, but I can always rely on good old
- 1:44:03trusty Kody. So I'm going to give my shit
- 1:44:06stain to Kody, not because of things with Truely really, but
- 1:44:10because of the beginning of the episode with the tree of life
- 1:44:13vibes, the whole let's have a crazy cake.
- 1:44:15I'm willing to forgo having a suit if it even means we have
- 1:44:18the budget for a cake. And it's like, right.
- 1:44:20So you can't spend money on things like insurance for your
- 1:44:23child who is going to be sick and hospitalized in this
- 1:44:26episode. But you can spend money on a
- 1:44:27cake and or a suit and or whatever that makes you look
- 1:44:30good for production and having
- 1:44:35praise on the show over and over
- 1:44:39Oh God, what am I forgetting? What else did he do?
- 1:44:41No, this was, it was a hard one,
- 1:44:46spare moms deserved the shit stains, but not for specific
- 1:44:50reasons other than just the fact
- 1:44:53initiative and step up and play their roles, their God-given
- 1:44:58roles as other mothers. Yeah, come on.
- 1:45:02This. Is it it's like, who was I
- 1:45:03supposed to get my shit stained to Meri just because she looked
- 1:45:05like Meri owes looks and acts like Meri owes acts.
- 1:45:08I mean, I guess she could get an
- 1:45:11got to go to Kody. Yeah.
- 1:45:13Our keep sweet moment this week is a comment on our Season 6
- 1:45:17Episode 12 rewatch, mother-in-law Invasion, where we
- 1:45:20got Kody shopping, shopping, shopping till he's dropping.
- 1:45:25Oh, God. And Nikki the vandal says on
- 1:45:27Spotify. As someone who has listened to
- 1:45:30all of these podcasts, I just want to say I'm so excited to
- 1:45:34see this show grow so much. You guys have such great in
- 1:45:37depth conversations while also
- 1:45:40Kudos. And OK.
- 1:45:43I mean, I agree, but I want to
- 1:45:47had your head checked recently?
- 1:45:48No, I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding.
- 1:45:50Oh I love it. Thank you so much for the
- 1:45:54compliment. I was inspired recently by the
- 1:46:05Looks good on everybody. Now I was inspired this episode
- 1:46:10by a one Truely brown and I am going to have to go shopping for
- 1:46:21appropriate for a woman of my age to wear some fingerless
- 1:46:24gloves, a Tutu, and a matching sweater.
- 1:46:26I don't know, think I'm going to have to try it.
- 1:46:29You know what I was going to say It's the weirdest thing that you
- 1:46:34You know, along these same lines, darling, you know what
- 1:46:38just arrived at my door today?
- 1:46:43sweatshirt slash sweater thing.
- 1:46:45I think it's a sweatshirt. I don't know.
- 1:46:47It's one of those Inbetweeners and I think we may just have to
- 1:46:51give the audience what they've been asking for, which is a
- 1:46:54photo on social media of us both wearing fuchsia slash magenta.
- 1:47:04outfit otherwise I would totally give the people that as well.
- 1:47:08I would be serving looks servant.
- 1:47:11Looks, looks. Oh my gosh, we're serving looks
- 1:47:14from Sister Wives. That's I know.
- 1:47:17This is really. This is not OK.
- 1:47:19This is. Not I have a lot of necklaces we
- 1:47:28time. I hope they don't hit unfollow
- 1:47:34We'll see what happens. Honey, to wrap things up, do you
- 1:47:41voice? Anything that you want to share,
- 1:47:45the things that aren't trite or all you know, really remembering
- 1:47:54Well, thinking about this fuchsia get up that we're going
- 1:47:57to be trying on and these a long dangly necklaces and
- 1:48:02fingerless gloves, I will impart some wisdom upon thee
- 1:48:07from a late great Dolly Parton.
- 1:48:11It takes a lot of money to look this cheap.
