Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Cubby, Christine, and Kristen, can we high-five each other live
- 0:02Speaker 1: on the air? Just high-five. High-five right now. High-five. Here's
- 0:05Speaker 1: why I'm high-fiving you guys. Okay, why?
- 0:07Speaker 2: Because we lived to tell about this story here. We
- 0:11Speaker 2: lived through this, and we are alive today.
- 0:14Speaker 3: That we survived some of the most dangerous toys in
- 0:16Speaker 3: the history of mankind?
- 0:17Speaker 1: Correct.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 0:19Speaker 1: Reddit has a discussion, and we've been discussing this off
- 0:22Speaker 1: the air. Let's bring it on the air.
- 0:23Speaker 3: It was survival of the fittest, basically. Vintage toys. That
- 0:27Speaker 3: we loved, but what were we thinking?
- 0:30Speaker 1: It's amazing we made it. You got tons of options here. Yes.
- 0:34Speaker 1: And add to the list if.
- 0:35Speaker 2: You think we're missing something at 44363. But Christine, can
- 0:38Speaker 2: you relate to lawn darts?
- 0:41Speaker 3: Yes, very much so. Lawn darts. We actually had a
- 0:43Speaker 3: dart board. In the basement.
- 0:46Speaker 1: So did we.
- 0:47Speaker 3: You did too.
- 0:48Speaker 1: And I'd go down there and play with friends with
- 0:51Speaker 1: no supervision.
- 0:52Speaker 3: Yeah, I played with way older brothers. I was like
- 0:54Speaker 3: the little kid.
- 0:56Speaker 2: No.
- 0:56Speaker 3: I feel like today parents would be like, no, you're
- 0:59Speaker 3: not taking your little sister down in front of the dartboard.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Nothing ever happened, right?
- 1:03Speaker 3: You're fine. I'm here.
- 1:05Speaker 1: And then they finally came up with the whole Velcro dartboards.
- 1:08Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. Those were little balls, right?
- 1:10Speaker 1: Little balls. Yep. They would stick.
- 1:13Speaker 3: That was a better idea. How about producer Kristen said
- 1:16Speaker 3: this was big for her. Skip it.
- 1:18Speaker 2: So Naomi, my daughter, we have one of these and
- 1:20Speaker 2: she enjoys it. And the way you described it, Kristen,
- 1:24Speaker 2: off the air is what I see Naomi do every weekend.
- 1:26Speaker 3: Oh.
- 1:26Speaker 1: You put this little circle around your ankle.
- 1:29Speaker 3: One ankle.
- 1:29Speaker 1: And you spin your ankle and the thing, the big
- 1:32Speaker 1: like ball at the end. Yeah. Is the weight of it.
- 1:35Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Will spin around and you just jump over that.
- 1:37Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Well, it'll hit you in the shin a lot.
- 1:39Speaker 3: Your timing is off.
- 1:40Speaker 1: So you're having fun, but then every five seconds.
- 1:43Speaker 3: And it still hurts her? Like, they still haven't changed it?
- 1:46Speaker 1: It's lighter.
- 1:47Speaker 2: I think it's lighter compared to what it was a
- 1:48Speaker 2: few years ago. It's not as heavy, but I see
- 1:51Speaker 2: Naomi go, you know, getting frustrated with it.
- 1:53Speaker 3: Did you guys have click clacks?
- 1:55Speaker 1: You know, I've heard of click clacks. I don't remember
- 1:57Speaker 1: click clacks.
- 1:57Speaker 3: I don't think we had them. But it would leave
- 1:59Speaker 3: you with a black eye if you weren't careful. Rollerblade Barbie.
- 2:03Speaker 3: Her rollerblades could actually create sparks.
- 2:06Speaker 1: I didn't have that. I did roller skates, which I
- 2:09Speaker 1: would fall down all the time.
- 2:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Without any padding on or anything. Oh, no.
- 2:14Speaker 3: That's not. That's never good.
- 2:15Speaker 1: I saw vintage chemistry sets on here.
- 2:18Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
- 2:18Speaker 1: And these were great. Oh, my goodness. They were great ideas, right? Educational, blah, blah, blah.
- 2:23Speaker 1: But some of them contained mercury, radium, even uranium.
- 2:28Speaker 3: Oh, man.
- 2:28Speaker 1: They're like back to the future.
- 2:30Speaker 3: That was crazy. Cubby, this is one that you did
- 2:33Speaker 3: not quite survive.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Which one?
- 2:35Speaker 3: BB guns.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Oh my gosh.
- 2:36Speaker 3: You'll shoot your eye out. You still have one.
- 2:39Speaker 2: I've told this story a million times. I won't tell
- 2:41Speaker 2: it again, but synopsis, a friend of mine by accident
- 2:43Speaker 2: shot me with a BB gun when I was 14
- 2:45Speaker 2: years old.
- 2:47Speaker 3: And it's still in your face.
- 2:48Speaker 2: It's still in my face today. It's gone from my,
- 2:51Speaker 2: where my nose is. It's fallen over the years and
- 2:55Speaker 2: it's right above my teeth.
- 2:57Speaker 3: It's crazy.
- 2:57Speaker 2: And every time I go to a dentist, I've had
- 2:59Speaker 2: the same dentist for a while, but when I used
- 3:01Speaker 2: to go to a different dentist, They would take the
- 3:03Speaker 2: x-rays and they'd always go, what is this?
- 3:05Speaker 1: Yeah. It's a big white dot above my teeth.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Oh, that's nuts. Slap bracelets. Yes. Early metal versions could
- 3:12Speaker 3: really mess you up. Why?
- 3:14Speaker 2: But, Christine, I don't think they hurt that much. I'm
- 3:15Speaker 2: surprised this is on the list. Slap bracelets, do they
- 3:18Speaker 2: hurt really when you slap them on?
- 3:20Speaker 3: The metal ones, when they first came out. Oh, you're
- 3:24Speaker 3: tougher than me.
- 3:24Speaker 1: To me, they just wrapped around you.
- 3:26Speaker 3: Eh, no. No, they're slapped for a reason. Boom. There
- 3:30Speaker 3: had to be some force.
- 3:30Speaker 1: All right, all right.
- 3:31Speaker 3: How about the Easy Bake Oven?
- 3:33Speaker 2: Another one that I disagree with. It was a light bulb.
- 3:37Speaker 2: I know people think oven, heat.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Kid, hot, all that.
- 3:40Speaker 3: That light bulb heated up. All right, you can still
- 3:43Speaker 3: burn yourself with a light bulb. Yes, you could.
- 3:45Speaker 1: But it took you four hours to make a cupcake.
- 3:47Speaker 3: Or one little cookie.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Yep.
- 3:50Speaker 3: The pogo sticks, we didn't have stuff like that.
- 3:52Speaker 2: We had a pogo stick, and if you're bouncing straight
- 3:56Speaker 2: up and you're good, oh, it's fun.
- 3:58Speaker 1: But then you divert a little bit to the left
- 4:00Speaker 1: or right, and you're.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Like, whoa! Yeah, mom's taking us to the emergency room.
- 4:03Speaker 2: We would always do it on cement that was near grass, though.
- 4:07Speaker 2: So if you felt like you were tipping one way
- 4:09Speaker 2: or the other, you'd go.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Towards the lawn.
- 4:13Speaker 3: How about, they still do slip and slide?
- 4:16Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, they do, and I gotta tell you, that's
- 4:18Speaker 1: a good point.
- 4:19Speaker 3: I used to get hurt on that because it looks like, oh,
- 4:21Speaker 3: this is fun. Just let's go.
- 4:22Speaker 1: You could break an arm. Yeah.
- 4:24Speaker 3: Oh, a tree root is underneath you or something. Yeah.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Right into the groin.
- 4:27Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah.
- 4:29Speaker 1: All right.
- 4:30Speaker 2: If you feel like we're missing something, please text us
- 4:32Speaker 2: at 44363. Some old vintage toys that you're amazed we survived.
- 4:38Speaker 3: Just heard from Bronx Girl Brenda. We love you. And
- 4:41Speaker 3: she said, I survived Click Clacks. Love you guys.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Click Clacks. I got to look those up. Was that
- 4:46Speaker 1: more of a.
- 4:47Speaker 3: I kind of remember it, but maybe from commercials.
- 4:51Speaker 1: But it wasn't like a girl thing. Boys and girls
- 4:52Speaker 1: played with it, right?
- 4:54Speaker 3: Well, Bronx girl Brenda played with it. All right.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Shout out to Brenda.
