- 0:06Good morning and welcome to the Voices of Life
- 0:09from the Church of Life. I'm Pastor David and
- 0:13I'm grateful you've chosen to spend this Sunday
- 0:15with us. Today is a unique day on the calendar.
- 0:21Christmas is behind us and a new year is just
- 0:25days away. We are standing at a threshold, not
- 0:32fully in the past. Not yet in the future, but
- 0:37right here. In this sacred in -between space.
- 0:43This morning, we're going to reflect together.
- 0:48Not with regret, not with pressure, but with
- 0:52honesty, hope, and faith. Today's message is
- 0:57called Standing at the Threshold. Remembering.
- 1:03releasing and renewing the world moves fast but
- 1:11God often works in the pauses between Christmas
- 1:15and New Year's there's a natural slowing the
- 1:20decorations still glow but the rush has quieted
- 1:25scripture is full of these in -between moments
- 1:32Israel stood between slavery and freedom. The
- 1:36disciples stood between the cross and the resurrection.
- 1:41Jesus himself stood between ministry seasons,
- 1:44often drawing to pray. God does some of his deepest
- 1:51work in the waiting. This week is not wasted
- 1:56time. It is holy ground. Before we rush into
- 2:03a new year, we must first remember not just the
- 2:07highlights, but the whole story. This year held
- 2:13joy, moments of laughter, answered prayers. It
- 2:18also held pain, loss, even disappointment. And
- 2:25a lot of questions without easy answers. And
- 2:30God was present in all of it. Psalm 103 tells
- 2:36us to remember the Lord and forget not all his
- 2:40benefits. Remembering doesn't mean pretending
- 2:45everything was perfect. It means recognizing
- 2:48that God was faithful, even when life was hard.
- 2:54Take a moment today to thank God for what sustained
- 2:58you. Not just what succeeded, but what shaped
- 3:04you. Even disappointments have an effect on our
- 3:09life that if we look hard enough can create a
- 3:13positive change. As important as remembering
- 3:19is, so is releasing. Some things from this year
- 3:25cannot go with you into the next. Unforgiveness,
- 3:32unnecessary guilt, old labels spoken over you.
- 3:38Isaiah reminds us, forget the former things.
- 3:43Do not dwell on the past. That doesn't mean denial.
- 3:50It means discernment. Not everything you carried
- 3:56this year was yours to keep. Release the weight
- 4:01of perfection. Release the pressure to have it
- 4:06all figured out. And release the fear that tells
- 4:11you God is finished with you. Because believe
- 4:17me, he's not. Renewal isn't about resolutions
- 4:24alone. It's about relationship. Romans 12 says,
- 4:31be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
- 4:36Think about that a minute, renewing of your mind.
- 4:41God isn't asking you to become something else,
- 4:44something you're not. He's inviting you to become
- 4:49more fully who he created you to be. Renew your
- 4:58trust. Renew your prayer life. Renew your openness
- 5:05to God's leading. This coming year doesn't require
- 5:09perfection. It requires your presence. Show up,
- 5:17stay open, and most of all walk faithfully. Christmas
- 5:29reminds us that God came near. The new year reminds
- 5:34us that God goes with us. You will not step into
- 5:392026 alone. Christ goes with you into every meeting,
- 5:45every challenge, and even facing every unknown.
- 5:54Hebrews tell us Jesus Christ is the same yesterday,
- 6:00today, and forever. The calendar may change,
- 6:05but his faithfulness does not. Let us pray together.
- 6:18Gracious God, as we stand at the threshold of
- 6:22a new year, we thank you for walking with us
- 6:26through this one. For every joy, we give thanks.
- 6:33For every trial, we trust you. For every lesson,
- 6:39we remain open. We release what no longer serves.
- 6:50And what does serve, more importantly, is your
- 6:56purpose in life. We receive your grace anew,
- 7:01and we forward with hope, not fear. Guide us,
- 7:07strengthen us, and renew us in love. Amen. Thank
- 7:19you for sharing this final Sunday of the year
- 7:22with Voices of Life from the Church for Life.
- 7:26As you move toward a new year, remember this.
- 7:30God is not behind you. He is ahead of you. May
- 7:36you walk forward with gratitude, courage, and
- 7:40faith. We will have a special podcast for New
- 7:48Year's Eve and New Year's Day. I'm Pastor David,
- 7:53and this has been Voices of Life. Grace and peace
- 7:57to you today and in the year to come.
