- 0:27Samantha Pruitt: Hey, beautiful humans.
- 0:29Samantha Pruitt: Sam Pruitt here.
- 0:31Samantha Pruitt: How is everybody?
- 0:33Samantha Pruitt: I'm doing a solo today.
- 0:35Samantha Pruitt: Coach Polly is out and about, and I am on my own.
- 0:40Samantha Pruitt: Actually, you might be hearing this while technically I'm literally out on my own, crossing the Sierra Nevada mountain range on foot for about 20 days.
- 0:52Samantha Pruitt: I will be doing the entire John Muir Trail solo.
- 0:55Samantha Pruitt: So you might be hearing this while I am literally on my own in the wilderness.
- 1:01Samantha Pruitt: I can't wait.
- 1:02Samantha Pruitt: But I want to share something with you first before I go.
- 1:04Samantha Pruitt: A lot of stuff has been going on, as you can imagine, in my body in preparation for this, in my mind and preparation for this big experience I'm about to have.
- 1:18Samantha Pruitt: And in fact, in my spirit and in my soul and in all parts of me.
- 1:23Samantha Pruitt: So what's been coming up is something I want to talk about today with you in this solo episode.
- 1:31Samantha Pruitt: The word is integration.
- 1:36Samantha Pruitt: Integration.
- 1:38Samantha Pruitt: Let me first define it out of the gate as Polly, Coach Polly loves to do.
- 1:43Samantha Pruitt: Integration is the process of combining separate parts or elements into a single, cohesive and functional whole.
- 1:55Samantha Pruitt: Integration is the process of combining separate parts or elements into a single, cohesive, and functioning whole.
- 2:18Samantha Pruitt: Definitely post-50.
- 2:19Samantha Pruitt: I'm turning 57 this year.
- 2:22Samantha Pruitt: And in particular, thinking about different elements that make me a human and how these elements or my parts and pieces can either work together in synchronicity or work in conflict over my lifetime, actually.
- 2:42Samantha Pruitt: Some of you may know I'm doing a class, a Buddhist class called A Year to Live.
- 2:47Samantha Pruitt: And it is a year long.
- 2:50Samantha Pruitt: It's pretty intense.
- 2:52Samantha Pruitt: And part of what we do in that course is we do a life inventory.
- 2:56Samantha Pruitt: So that's probably why some of this stuff is coming up for me.
- 2:58Samantha Pruitt: But I really want to share these concepts with you and also have you give some thought to this now.
- 3:07Samantha Pruitt: You don't need to be in a course for sure.
- 3:09Samantha Pruitt: You can be doing this at any time, whether it be a life review or just what I'm about to propose today as a concept.
- 3:19Samantha Pruitt: Okay.
- 3:20Samantha Pruitt: So what I'm proposing today is that you think, like I'm thinking, about the integration of my parts and pieces.
- 3:31Samantha Pruitt: When we are integrated, these parts and pieces of ours, working together, all of these parts and pieces in synchronicity, or when we are not, when they are working in conflict, you know, challenge can arise.
- 3:46Samantha Pruitt: So either causing flow and joy when they are working together, or causing blocks and suffering when they are working against each other.
- 3:58Samantha Pruitt: You know, like being a whole person and really feeling deeply connected to who you are and operating from that place of knowing, versus the ongoing daily struggle many of us face, including me, with the voices in our head, the stories in our minds, and the emotional pain in our heart that is caused when we are just not sure.
- 4:26Samantha Pruitt: And the people, circumstances, and world around us seem to be determining our fate instead of us.
- 4:32Samantha Pruitt: I know I've totally been there.
- 4:35Samantha Pruitt: Well, I don't know about you guys, but I am totally game also for less suffering and more joy.
- 4:41Samantha Pruitt: And in fact, I've been investing a lot of time and energy in this part of my personal development.
- 4:47Samantha Pruitt: You know, the more integrated and tapped in I am to my own flow, the more motivated and productive I am, and the more mentally, physically, emotionally healthy I become.
- 5:02Samantha Pruitt: So today, the three elemental aspects of the human puzzle I specifically want to talk to you about are number one, the mind and its mental parts, number two, the physical body parts, and number three, the spirit or the soul parts.
- 5:23Samantha Pruitt: And I want to have this connection convo with you today as an invitation for you to also become more integrated, understanding these various parts of yourself and how they should work and can work together.
- 5:38Samantha Pruitt: Hopefully, thinking about yourself in this way also might help ease some of your own suffering and allow you to tap into more joy.
- 5:47Samantha Pruitt: I mean, there's no reason for me to hog and hoard all the self-love over here.
- 5:54Samantha Pruitt: No matter what you're hearing out there, there is plenty of this good stuff to go around.
- 6:02Samantha Pruitt: Also, I think that integration is a worthy goal along the entire lifetime trail we each walk.
- 6:10Samantha Pruitt: Because the more integrated our parts are, the more the more whole, whole we are.
- 6:17Samantha Pruitt: But not just as our own best possible human being, living with peace and joy in ourselves, but additionally as a you know, as functioning within a society person, you functioning within a society person who can offer gifts to make the world a better place.
- 6:37Samantha Pruitt: Lord knows we need more of that right now, and the universe is out recruiting.
- 6:43Samantha Pruitt: All right, so let's get started.
- 6:45Samantha Pruitt: First off, okay, just visualize that we are each a puzzle with millions of pieces.
- 6:55Samantha Pruitt: All of those pieces make up the story of our life.
- 7:00Samantha Pruitt: And so when we are building a puzzle, what you generally do is you separate the box of pieces into cups or buckets or piles in order to make sense of it all.
- 7:10Samantha Pruitt: When you're putting these pieces together as a final complete project or piece of art, you generally separate them out into piles first.
- 7:19Samantha Pruitt: And I know those of you nerds like me who have made puzzles before, or maybe you make them now, you know exactly what I'm talking about.
- 7:26Samantha Pruitt: The straight line pieces create the border of the puzzle, and so they all go into one pile.
- 7:35Samantha Pruitt: The really complex and colorful and dynamic pieces that create the interior center of the puzzle go into a separate pile.
- 7:43Samantha Pruitt: Because those will be the most complicated to put together.
- 7:46Samantha Pruitt: Generally, they are the part, the puzzle part pieces of the object, the image, or the central art.
- 7:54Samantha Pruitt: And then lastly, the last pile, generally are the blank or the open spaces that are very simple.
- 8:01Samantha Pruitt: They can be one color, like of the air, of the light.
- 8:05Samantha Pruitt: Sometimes they're of the sky, of the earth, the grounding elements that hold the project, the image, or the art piece in place.
- 8:13Samantha Pruitt: Three piles of puzzle pieces so far.
- 8:16Samantha Pruitt: Do you have this visualized?
- 8:19Samantha Pruitt: Okay, now let's use this analogy to think about these three piles of puzzle pieces in the same way that we might think of ourselves also as three piles of personal elements, human parts or pieces, and our own unique personal puzzle.
- 8:38Samantha Pruitt: Pile number one.
- 8:40Samantha Pruitt: Those types of straight border pieces that are most like our mental elements.
- 8:47Samantha Pruitt: You know, where all things need to make sense and be linear.
- 8:50Samantha Pruitt: It's our thinking, our rational self, our logical brain, our mind.
- 8:56Samantha Pruitt: Our mind takes all of the information in, disseminates it into something that we can comprehend in order to form ideas, structure concepts, and then process it all to guide our actions.
- 9:08Samantha Pruitt: Thoughts, thinking, stories, the storyline, you know, if you will, of your daily life.
- 9:14Samantha Pruitt: That's one pile.
- 9:16Samantha Pruitt: Your unique pile of your mental pieces.
- 9:21Samantha Pruitt: Pile number two.
- 9:23Samantha Pruitt: You know, we all have that pile of curvy, often confusing, colorful, dynamic centerpieces that are like our physical existence, our body.
- 9:35Samantha Pruitt: The human body is a freaking miracle.
- 9:38Samantha Pruitt: We live inside a constantly changing and adapting container of trillions of cells, all operating in synchronicity, guiding a myriad of systems that have come together in order for the human body to actually function minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day, to keep us alive for weeks and months and years and a lifetime.
- 10:04Samantha Pruitt: That's the intricate, messy middle pile of pieces, the physical body.
- 10:10Samantha Pruitt: And then the third pile, and lastly, the third element of pile of pieces is our spiritual part reflected in the normal earth and sky pieces of a puzzle.
- 10:24Samantha Pruitt: We too are breathing air, grounded by the earth, and have natural access to reverence towards the unknown and grasp for meaning and purpose.
- 10:37Samantha Pruitt: This spiritual element makes it all worth it.
- 10:40Samantha Pruitt: And at the same time, makes it all a great mystery.
- 10:45Samantha Pruitt: So now what?
- 10:48Samantha Pruitt: Why do I see these three piles of puzzle pieces, personal elements of you as commanding integration?
- 10:57Samantha Pruitt: Well, let's revisit what integration is.
- 11:00Samantha Pruitt: Integration is the process of combining separate parts or elements into a single cohesive and functioning whole.
- 11:11Samantha Pruitt: Whole cohesive, connected, allowing for maximum strength, flexibility, full momentum forward.
- 11:26Samantha Pruitt: All parts put together into one.
- 11:29Samantha Pruitt: All pieces combined into one piece, the art of your life, the work of art is called you.
- 11:40Samantha Pruitt: Now, I'm not saying this is easy.
- 11:44Samantha Pruitt: Here are a few steps to personal integration.
- 11:47Samantha Pruitt: Here's what's required, really, if you're interested in being a more integrated human being.
- 11:52Samantha Pruitt: Because I sure the hell no I am.
- 11:56Samantha Pruitt: Number one, the human has to be awake.
- 11:59Samantha Pruitt: Awake.
- 12:01Samantha Pruitt: Number two, the human has to be aware.
- 12:04Samantha Pruitt: Aware.
- 12:07Samantha Pruitt: The human needs to hold space for themselves and the rest of humanity as we struggle along this bumpy ride together.
- 12:17Samantha Pruitt: The human needs to remove obstacles by climbing over, under, or around people, places, and things that try to divert them from the path.
- 12:30Samantha Pruitt: The human needs to offer compassion, self-acceptance, and time to themselves as they do this work.
- 12:40Samantha Pruitt: This work of integrating yourself into the whole person might take a lifetime, but you are worth it.
- 12:51Samantha Pruitt: I am worth it.
- 12:54Samantha Pruitt: Knowing yourself and working to unify yourself mentally, physically, and spiritually is the work of heroes and legends.
- 13:04Samantha Pruitt: Be the hero of your own story.
- 13:07Samantha Pruitt: Be the hero of your own life.
- 13:10Samantha Pruitt: Become a legend.
- 13:12Samantha Pruitt: The world needs more legends.
- 13:15Samantha Pruitt: Remember, my beautiful humans, how your life feels is everything, and how it looks is not.
- 13:23Samantha Pruitt: Become a legend, the world needs more legends.
- 13:25Samantha Pruitt: I'll see you next week.
