- 0:00Speaker 1: Joining me on the line right now.
- 0:01Speaker 2: We've got our first candidate before this morning, Kylie Bonani
- 0:05Speaker 2: from the Liberal Democrats. Good morning to you, Kylie.
- 0:08Speaker 3: Hey Katie, how are you very well? Now?
- 0:11Speaker 2: Thank you so much for your time this morning, Kylie,
- 0:14Speaker 2: I might get the get the timers started straight away
- 0:17Speaker 2: and we'll get into it.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Are you ready?
- 0:20Speaker 3: I am ready, I'm in the car na what all.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Right, let's get started now, Kylie.
- 0:28Speaker 2: Why did you put your hand up to run for
- 0:29Speaker 2: the seat of Solomon.
- 0:32Speaker 3: That's felt foremost the voters of Solomon need and want
- 0:36Speaker 3: an alternative to the ALP and CLP. They've just shown
- 0:40Speaker 3: themselves to be so dysfunctional, both of them, both of them.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Now, what do you see as being the biggest issues
- 0:48Speaker 2: in the seat of Solomon.
- 0:52Speaker 3: Look, I'm as much as I don't want to say crime,
- 0:56Speaker 3: it is crime, and I know it's an antique government responsibility,
- 1:00Speaker 3: but it is crime. We are going to tackle that
- 1:04Speaker 3: head on. So we're not shying away from some of
- 1:06Speaker 3: the things that are surrounding crime that even though it's
- 1:11Speaker 3: not our responsibility, we still have we still have thoughts
- 1:15Speaker 3: around that. We definitely want to legislate to make parents
- 1:18Speaker 3: and legal guardians responsible to use crime and bailed regions,
- 1:22Speaker 3: making the family responsibility agreements mandatory and court imposed, and
- 1:28Speaker 3: holding parents or guardians criminally criminally responsible for children in
- 1:32Speaker 3: their care. We want to make anty police responsible for
- 1:36Speaker 3: dealing with juvenile crime instead of territory families. Reforms to
- 1:40Speaker 3: the bail as to the ends of the capture and
- 1:43Speaker 3: release recycle, minimum sentences for multiple offenses. Establishment of purpose
- 1:49Speaker 3: built juvenile justice facilities that provide a mix of schools
- 1:53Speaker 3: and vocational education, thought life skills, recreation and specialized follows
- 2:00Speaker 3: and educators to deal with disorders to us as FASD
- 2:04Speaker 3: and ADHD based on the diagramma model.
- 2:09Speaker 2: And Kylie, obviously you know crime is an issue that
- 2:11Speaker 2: gets raised with us all of the time on this show.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Are there any other issues that you see as being
- 2:17Speaker 2: a real concern for Solomon?
- 2:19Speaker 3: Look, definitely the mandates, Katie. I feel, Look, this is
- 2:24Speaker 3: this is something that had made me lead the CLP,
- 2:27Speaker 3: so I just felt that we were not being heard
- 2:31Speaker 3: as members and representatives and as a representative of that party.
- 2:36Speaker 3: This is the first time in my lifetime, Katie, that
- 2:39Speaker 3: I've felt the devastating effect that this has had on
- 2:41Speaker 3: people's lives. Please, I'm not an anti vaxer. I want
- 2:45Speaker 3: your listeners to know I am not anti vaxx. I
- 2:47Speaker 3: am triplebacks by choice. I just simply believe in the
- 2:51Speaker 3: individual's right. It's the most basic thing about democracy, and
- 2:55Speaker 3: our two major parties have forgotten by all the parties
- 2:59Speaker 3: would by and ignored business owners and effect that if
- 3:03Speaker 3: I've had honest employees, and it takes a lot of
- 3:06Speaker 3: courage to break your pattern and vote with a different party,
- 3:10Speaker 3: that I believe this is a year to make that change. Katie. Now, see,
- 3:15Speaker 3: they're just not targets. They are a blanket approach. If
- 3:18Speaker 3: they are a little bit more specific, maybe it wouldn't
- 3:21Speaker 3: be so bad. But the blanket approach is devastating businesses.
- 3:25Speaker 4: Katie.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Now, why do you think that you and the party
- 3:29Speaker 2: that you're part of will be best place to deal
- 3:32Speaker 2: with these issues?
- 3:34Speaker 3: Well, when listening, Katie, the two majors are just not listening.
- 3:38Speaker 3: They've just got their blinkers and ear masson. They're not
- 3:41Speaker 3: listening to what people are saying. I think they've just
- 3:44Speaker 3: been guided. They've got their seats. They don't want to
- 3:47Speaker 3: rock the boat. Look, I'm out there I'm vocal, I'm
- 3:51Speaker 3: door knocking, I'm listening to everybody. You've got to move
- 3:55Speaker 3: with the times, Katie, and neither of these parties have moved.
- 3:58Speaker 2: Kylie, We've got a couple of questions left in about
- 4:01Speaker 2: forty five seconds.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Who are you going to be preferencing?
- 4:05Speaker 3: Okay, I'm as part of the Liberal Democrats policy. We're
- 4:08Speaker 3: definitely we are voting out the majors. So here in
- 4:13Speaker 3: the territory, our two majors are Labor and CLP. So
- 4:16Speaker 3: I am going My second preferences goes to the United
- 4:20Speaker 3: Australia Party. My third goes to I think it's the
- 4:24Speaker 3: Pauline Hanson one Nation, my third, my fourth goes to
- 4:29Speaker 3: the CLP because I am a conservative at heart. Luke
- 4:34Speaker 3: is five and the Greens are sick. Now I'm going
- 4:37Speaker 3: through my work and true to my values. Katie.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Now we might make these run for five minutes because
- 4:42Speaker 2: we're running out of time. So I'll just ask you finally,
- 4:45Speaker 2: and you've got forty seconds to let us know. Why
- 4:47Speaker 2: should people vote for you?
- 4:51Speaker 3: Book?
- 4:52Speaker 5: That's easy.
- 4:53Speaker 3: I think it's easy. Nobody is happy, and I believe
- 4:56Speaker 3: in the territory you're so underdeveloped and we have so
- 4:59Speaker 3: many opportunities that are open to us with mining, agriculture, manufacturing.
- 5:04Speaker 3: I want to see growth, jobs, security, future territories. What
- 5:09Speaker 3: had the two major parties delivered just this? I want
- 5:12Speaker 3: your listeners to just think, what have they delivered? The
- 5:15Speaker 3: delibered that Democrats are our future party. It's time for
- 5:18Speaker 3: wheal change. Write one Kylie for Solomon.
- 5:22Speaker 2: Oh, we've run out of time, Kylie Banani, thank you
- 5:25Speaker 2: very much, thanks for your time this morning, Kylie Varani
- 5:29Speaker 2: there from the Liberal Democrats. And look, I made the
- 5:32Speaker 2: executive decision throughout that interview that I think these are
- 5:35Speaker 2: going to have to run for five minutes and we
- 5:37Speaker 2: have got enough time. Now joining us on the line
- 5:40Speaker 2: right now for our next for our next interview, let
- 5:44Speaker 2: me just make sure I.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Start or restart at the clock.
- 5:47Speaker 2: But joining us on the line right now, is I
- 5:49Speaker 2: a good rich cartling from the Greens.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Good morning to you, Aya.
- 5:54Speaker 5: Good morning Katy. How are you this morning?
- 5:56Speaker 1: Very well? Now let's get into it.
- 5:58Speaker 2: I might start with the the first question, why did
- 6:01Speaker 2: you put your hand up to run in the seat
- 6:03Speaker 2: of Solomon?
- 6:05Speaker 5: Yeah, of course, Well I've put my hand up to
- 6:08Speaker 5: run just because I'm really passionate about the territory and
- 6:11Speaker 5: making sure that it's a really lovely place to live.
- 6:14Speaker 5: And you know, I think, like so many people around Australia,
- 6:17Speaker 5: I've just felt really uninspired by the current government and
- 6:21Speaker 5: also the alternatives. You know, Labor isn't putting forward a
- 6:25Speaker 5: strong enough action on climate change. So I've put my
- 6:29Speaker 5: hand up to give people the option to vote for
- 6:31Speaker 5: the climate to vote to you know, look after everyday
- 6:36Speaker 5: people before billionaires, and then we just tax billionaires and
- 6:39Speaker 5: make sure that we're looking after our people and putting
- 6:42Speaker 5: mental health and dental into medicare so that people can
- 6:45Speaker 5: access the services that they need.
- 6:47Speaker 2: Now, what do you see as being the biggest issues
- 6:50Speaker 2: in the seat of Solomon.
- 6:53Speaker 5: Yeah, of course. So from the people that I've been
- 6:56Speaker 5: speaking to over this election campaign, it's truly obvious that
- 7:00Speaker 5: climate action is number one for a lot of people.
- 7:03Speaker 5: You know, we've seen, you know, the devastating fires and
- 7:06Speaker 5: floods over the last few years, and all of these
- 7:09Speaker 5: events just seem to be happening more and more often
- 7:11Speaker 5: and it's really scary, and it's also really scary just
- 7:15Speaker 5: to see that there's not much being put forward to
- 7:18Speaker 5: do about it by both of the major parties. But
- 7:22Speaker 5: you know, the other thing that people are really concerned
- 7:24Speaker 5: about as well is just the cost of living at
- 7:26Speaker 5: the moment. You know, too many Australians are struggling to
- 7:29Speaker 5: keep the head above water, and too many of these
- 7:32Speaker 5: Australians are women and young people, and wages are too low,
- 7:36Speaker 5: and worker is insecure and housing is too expense. They're
- 7:39Speaker 5: particularly you know in Solomon, it has been for a
- 7:42Speaker 5: long time, and so it's really important that we are
- 7:46Speaker 5: working to make it easier for people to get by.
- 7:50Speaker 2: So I taking those issues into account, why do you
- 7:54Speaker 2: think that you and the party that you're part of
- 7:57Speaker 2: will be best place to deal with them?
- 8:00Speaker 5: Yeah, of course. So the Greens don't take any major
- 8:04Speaker 5: donations from big corporations, so unlike all the other parties,
- 8:08Speaker 5: you can trust us to put the people first because
- 8:12Speaker 5: you know, we don't have these big companies lining our
- 8:14Speaker 5: pockets and influencing the policy that we're putting forward. So
- 8:17Speaker 5: we actually really do care about about looking after the
- 8:20Speaker 5: health and wellbeing of you know, Australia's population and our
- 8:25Speaker 5: country is it's really really important we look after that.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Now, who are you going to be preferencing.
- 8:32Speaker 6: Of course.
- 8:33Speaker 5: So we've got of course both Boat one Greens and
- 8:36Speaker 5: both for the climate in the future. And then at
- 8:39Speaker 5: number two we've got a big Ghosling our number three
- 8:42Speaker 5: teenam silent. Four we've got Tailor Self, five we've got
- 8:47Speaker 5: Kylie Banani, and then six we've got Emily from pauland
- 8:51Speaker 5: Hampson's One Nation. So we're just kind of going in
- 8:54Speaker 5: order of the parties that align the best with our policies,
- 8:59Speaker 5: you know, looking for a celling it at planet. But
- 9:02Speaker 5: also you know, I think, as a few voters down
- 9:05Speaker 5: it the polling booth have told me this morning, it's
- 9:08Speaker 5: it's pretty interesting to see a very conservative ballot being
- 9:12Speaker 5: put up. So you know, I think for a lot
- 9:15Speaker 5: of people that are looking for an alternative, it's good
- 9:18Speaker 5: to have the Greens in there.
- 9:20Speaker 2: Now, you've still got over a minute, or you've got
- 9:22Speaker 2: about a minute thirty left.
- 9:24Speaker 1: Why should people vote for you?
- 9:28Speaker 5: I think what's really important is just that you know,
- 9:31Speaker 5: I'm a normal person like everyone else. You know, I'm
- 9:34Speaker 5: I'm a healthcare worker, I'm a renter. I was born
- 9:37Speaker 5: in Zalen, so I know.
- 9:39Speaker 6: The struggles that every day people face, and I know
- 9:43Speaker 6: how hard it can be, particularly at the moment with
- 9:46Speaker 6: the cost of living to get by. And I think
- 9:48Speaker 6: people can feel really safe if voting for me, that
- 9:51Speaker 6: they'll be voting for climate action to keep our beautiful
- 9:54Speaker 6: territory and all of our beautiful environments safe and to
- 9:58Speaker 6: make their lives better. You know, we see so much.
- 10:03Speaker 5: You know, people just being really really disinterested in losing
- 10:07Speaker 5: a lot of hope in politics, and I think it's
- 10:09Speaker 5: really important to get people back engaged and realize that
- 10:12Speaker 5: the government should have the best interests of its people
- 10:15Speaker 5: at heart, and you know, currently they don't seem to.
- 10:19Speaker 5: And what I would say as well for everybody is
- 10:22Speaker 5: that your vote is really powerful. You know, if just
- 10:26Speaker 5: a few hundred people change their votes from the last election,
- 10:29Speaker 5: the Greens would be in the balance of power. And
- 10:32Speaker 5: in the balance of power, the Greens will kick the
- 10:34Speaker 5: Liberals out and push the next government to go further
- 10:38Speaker 5: and faster on the climate crisis, and make the billionaires
- 10:41Speaker 5: and big corporations pay their fair share of tax so
- 10:44Speaker 5: that we can get dental and mental health into medicare
- 10:48Speaker 5: and ensure everyone has a secure, well paid job and
- 10:51Speaker 5: an affordable home.
- 10:53Speaker 1: Well.
- 10:53Speaker 2: I a good rich Cartling, you've finished just on time
- 10:56Speaker 2: with five seconds to spare.
- 10:58Speaker 1: We appreciate your time.
- 10:59Speaker 2: This mo, thanks so much for chatting with us and
- 11:01Speaker 2: joining us on the line.
- 11:03Speaker 1: Right now.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Is the incumbent member and of course the ALP's candidate
- 11:08Speaker 2: for the.
- 11:08Speaker 1: Seat of Solomon, Luke Gosling. Good morning to you, Luke.
- 11:11Speaker 7: Good morning Katie.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Luke.
- 11:13Speaker 2: Let's get into it mate. I know that you've been
- 11:16Speaker 2: on well, so let's get into it.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Are you ready?
- 11:19Speaker 7: I'm ready and I'm out of isolation today, so good
- 11:22Speaker 7: to go.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Good stuff, all right, here we go, Luke.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Why did you put your hand up again to run
- 11:27Speaker 2: for the seat of Solomon?
- 11:30Speaker 7: Katie? Has been the greatest honor of my life to
- 11:33Speaker 7: serve the people of Darwin and Palmerson. Knowing that's a
- 11:36Speaker 7: short answer, but it is a fight, you know, this
- 11:39Speaker 7: is serious business. It's representing Darwin and Palmerson down in
- 11:42Speaker 7: the Federal Parliament. It's not an auditioned for an anti election.
- 11:47Speaker 7: It's a fight down then. We've been fighting to get
- 11:50Speaker 7: the coalition promises delivered. We've been fighting for better health
- 11:53Speaker 7: facilities and we've got that with the Palmerston Hospital and
- 11:56Speaker 7: the pet scanners but you're going to remember that's Scott
- 11:59Speaker 7: Morris and try to reduce us to one seat. So
- 12:02Speaker 7: it's a fight to have our voice heard down in Canberra.
- 12:06Speaker 7: It's a fight for territory rights. I've been fighting for veterans,
- 12:09Speaker 7: fighting for our small and medium enterprises as well to
- 12:12Speaker 7: get more of that defense contract work. Then promoting local
- 12:17Speaker 7: businesses as we've done with the Go Local First campaign,
- 12:20Speaker 7: and fighting against job Keeper being ripped away when small
- 12:24Speaker 7: businesses needed that support the most. So it is a
- 12:28Speaker 7: fight down there. But we need someone down there who's experienced,
- 12:31Speaker 7: whose network down there and can stand up for us
- 12:33Speaker 7: because we're in difficult times, increasing inflation, increasing interest rates,
- 12:38Speaker 7: so we need real wages to be keeping up. And
- 12:41Speaker 7: that's why people should support me and support federal labor,
- 12:45Speaker 7: because we've got fed income, plans to have more secure work,
- 12:49Speaker 7: less casual work, more secure work, more skills and training, investment,
- 12:53Speaker 7: more affordable housing, and of course social infrastructure that we
- 12:57Speaker 7: all know we need because the great territory lifestyle, but
- 13:00Speaker 7: if you can afford it, it is so we need
- 13:02Speaker 7: to make sure the real wages are going in the
- 13:04Speaker 7: right direction. And at the moment under Morrison, everything's going
- 13:07Speaker 7: up except for people's wages.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Looke, what do you see as being the biggest issues
- 13:12Speaker 2: in the seat of Solomon at the moment?
- 13:15Speaker 7: What is that cost of living? I think, Cadie one
- 13:18Speaker 7: hundred percent. There are other factors that people think about,
- 13:22Speaker 7: and you talk about a lot on your show, Katie.
- 13:25Speaker 7: But we need solutions. Now. That's why I'm investing in
- 13:29Speaker 7: this Youth Engagement center because we need solutions for our
- 13:33Speaker 7: young people. We need more training, more skills investment, and
- 13:37Speaker 7: that's going to help our young people into the jobs
- 13:38Speaker 7: because we need those jobs because industry is screaming out
- 13:42Speaker 7: for workers, so we need more secure work. But we
- 13:45Speaker 7: also need more of our young people trained up for
- 13:48Speaker 7: those jobs. So it's absolutely vital that we attack through
- 13:53Speaker 7: things like childcare support. Ninety six percent of territory families
- 13:58Speaker 7: are going to get more assistance with childcare and that
- 14:01Speaker 7: means that parents can if they want to get back
- 14:04Speaker 7: into the workforce, and that's going to help territory families.
- 14:08Speaker 7: It's going to help Territorians pay their bills, and that's
- 14:11Speaker 7: going to be a bigger challenge as time goes on.
- 14:14Speaker 2: Looke, Why do you think that you and the party
- 14:17Speaker 2: that you're part of. Will be best place to deal
- 14:19Speaker 2: with these various issues, well, is Scott Morrison.
- 14:24Speaker 7: The Coalition have failed over nine years. We've seen no accountability.
- 14:30Speaker 7: They don't want to be held accountable. They don't want
- 14:33Speaker 7: an IKAC and the colp can even said that the
- 14:36Speaker 7: other day. Scott Morrison likes it exactly the.
- 14:38Speaker 5: Way it is.
- 14:39Speaker 7: Of course he does, because they're rauting. They're using taxpayer
- 14:42Speaker 7: money like it's liberal paying money. It's not. It's money
- 14:45Speaker 7: that belongs to the Australian people that they work hard
- 14:48Speaker 7: for and they pay their taxes. So they want services.
- 14:50Speaker 7: So when there's promises made, they want it delivered. The
- 14:53Speaker 7: only way that you get delivery from Canberra is if
- 14:56Speaker 7: you've got a strong voice down there fighting. So that
- 14:59Speaker 7: is simply what I'm putting to people is that I
- 15:02Speaker 7: have been fighting for them down in camera and I'll
- 15:06Speaker 7: continue to do so if they give me their support.
- 15:09Speaker 2: Look a bit over a minute and twenty seconds to go,
- 15:12Speaker 2: who are you going to be preferencing?
- 15:15Speaker 7: It's very simple on the form that they'll get how
- 15:19Speaker 7: to vote form Katie one for Luke Gosling and then
- 15:23Speaker 7: we're going up up the card two and three, Kylie Bernandi,
- 15:29Speaker 7: it's a shame that some of the candidates haven't been
- 15:31Speaker 7: able to have a chat with you, and you wonder
- 15:33Speaker 7: how serious they are about this business. But I just
- 15:36Speaker 7: go to the fact, Katie, that it is a serious business.
- 15:39Speaker 7: On your show, you talk about territory issues a lot.
- 15:43Speaker 7: Eighty percent of the funding that the territory has come
- 15:45Speaker 7: from the Commonwealth, So we need a strong voice in camera,
- 15:49Speaker 7: an albaneathy labor government. If people haven't seen the debates yet,
- 15:53Speaker 7: I suggest they have a look at the debates just
- 15:55Speaker 7: to have a look at what the differences are, and
- 15:57Speaker 7: they are stark. Cost of living is going to continue
- 16:01Speaker 7: to be a problem. Scott Morrison's fallen asleep on this watch.
- 16:05Speaker 7: We even heard a COLP candidate on yours this morning
- 16:09Speaker 7: Katie said that they were an average territory, and we'll
- 16:11Speaker 7: average territorians aren't on two hundred plus grand a year.
- 16:15Speaker 7: They're just not. They're struggling with the cost of living.
- 16:18Speaker 7: They need all the help that they can get and
- 16:20Speaker 7: that is what we're offering is scheduled labor, whether it's
- 16:22Speaker 7: cheaper childcare or a focus on skills and training for
- 16:25Speaker 7: those jobs in the future. But also more secure work
- 16:29Speaker 7: and less of this casualization that's seen people's wages go backward.
- 16:35Speaker 2: Look, sorry that was very loud, but we have run
- 16:38Speaker 2: out of time. Good to catch up with you this morning.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Thank you very much for having a chat with us
- 16:43Speaker 2: and letting us know what you stand for ahead of
- 16:45Speaker 2: the federal election only Katy.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Thank you, And well we're going to head straight across now.
- 16:51Speaker 1: I believe that.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Joining me on the line right now, and I will
- 16:55Speaker 2: just make sure I got this buzzer ready again and
- 16:57Speaker 2: our time are ready again. It's a juggle in here.
- 17:00Speaker 2: I believe that I've got on the line right now.
- 17:02Speaker 2: The COLP candidate for the seat of Solomon, Tina McFarlane.
- 17:06Speaker 1: Good morning to.
- 17:07Speaker 4: You, and good mining Katie, and good morning to all
- 17:10Speaker 4: your listeners.
- 17:11Speaker 1: All right, Tina, are you ready to get straight into it?
- 17:15Speaker 4: Ready to get straight into it?
- 17:16Speaker 1: Let's go, Tina.
- 17:18Speaker 2: Why did you put your hand up to run for
- 17:20Speaker 2: the seat of Solomon.
- 17:23Speaker 4: Because I can do better. Solomon residents need a strong
- 17:27Speaker 4: and vocal local MP, connecting business and residence with government
- 17:32Speaker 4: and actually seeking an offering solutions. A local member that
- 17:35Speaker 4: has business experience and an understanding perspective and driven representation
- 17:40Speaker 4: and the top ends needs and that needs to be
- 17:43Speaker 4: directly into Canberra. I've been out there, I've worked hard
- 17:47Speaker 4: all my life and I wanted that to translate. I
- 17:50Speaker 4: want to give back to the terrorory what the territory
- 17:53Speaker 4: is given to me, and we need a local member
- 17:56Speaker 4: that's experienced the ups and downs, the hardship and they're
- 17:59Speaker 4: in touch with the community and the electric I'm out
- 18:02Speaker 4: drawn off nearly every day and speaking to businesses and
- 18:06Speaker 4: residents and I'm finding out what's important to them. That's
- 18:10Speaker 4: territories and that's why they should support me in this election.
- 18:14Speaker 2: Tina, what do you see as being the biggest issues
- 18:16Speaker 2: in the seat of Solomon.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Look, there's a.
- 18:23Speaker 4: Lot of issues that The thing coming through again again
- 18:25Speaker 4: is law and order, the cost of living, aged care
- 18:30Speaker 4: is also really raising its head a lot, and cyber
- 18:33Speaker 4: safety for our children. That's been the fun of people's minds.
- 18:38Speaker 4: When I'm talking to people and drawn off in businesses
- 18:40Speaker 4: and residents, I recognize law and order and anti social
- 18:44Speaker 4: behavior in the NP. It is the worst it's ever been.
- 18:47Speaker 4: I've been here thirty five years and I've just never
- 18:50Speaker 4: seen anything like it. The rising cost of living that's
- 18:54Speaker 4: huge issues because obviously, you know, we all know we've
- 18:57Speaker 4: got increased fuel costs, even though the my Some government
- 19:00Speaker 4: has returning twenty two in exercise to the next six months.
- 19:06Speaker 4: I think it is. And the other very important issue,
- 19:12Speaker 4: as I said earlier, was the lack of age care facilities.
- 19:15Speaker 4: As people are getting older. There's been thirty or forty
- 19:19Speaker 4: place has been allocated to the NT and the Labor
- 19:22Speaker 4: government's been sitting on their hands and they haven't tended
- 19:26Speaker 4: that out. There's residents that live here. They don't want
- 19:30Speaker 4: to go south, they don't want their families to move,
- 19:32Speaker 4: They want to stay out here. They love the territory
- 19:35Speaker 4: and this is where they've you know, this is where
- 19:37Speaker 4: they want to remain, stay home and territory. Labor's absolutely
- 19:42Speaker 4: failed in so many of these areas, I mean, the
- 19:44Speaker 4: law and order and crime. It's just phenomenal. I mean,
- 19:47Speaker 4: Luke's been the members since feeling nothing has been achieved,
- 19:53Speaker 4: has simply got worse and worse for worse it's ever been.
- 19:56Speaker 2: Tina, why do you think that you and the party
- 19:59Speaker 2: that you're huddle will be best place to deal with
- 20:02Speaker 2: these issues?
- 20:06Speaker 4: Well, like territorians, well know, with convictions work and Grett
- 20:12Speaker 4: absolutely anything is possible. I've been in business for thirty years,
- 20:16Speaker 4: so I understand the challenges based by local businesses and
- 20:20Speaker 4: by people in the community. I've been involved in local government,
- 20:24Speaker 4: community organizations, non for profit. I've been out there listening
- 20:29Speaker 4: to the locals over the last twelve months, and i
- 20:32Speaker 4: understand the challenges that are facing them. Like territorians, I'm
- 20:37Speaker 4: tired of spit self interested elect federal elected members. Should
- 20:43Speaker 4: residents place their trust in me and I'm successful, I'll
- 20:47Speaker 4: keenly embrace the opportunity with both hands. I'll consistently step
- 20:51Speaker 4: up with vigor, stamina and pride, ensuring the NT is
- 20:56Speaker 4: heard and the front of mind within the Federal Parliament
- 20:59Speaker 4: and can us. We need to really show camera that
- 21:04Speaker 4: there is unique things up here and we do need
- 21:07Speaker 4: them to step up and really address a lot of
- 21:10Speaker 4: the issues that are concerning territory in Tina.
- 21:13Speaker 2: We've got about a minute and five seconds left. Firstly, preferences.
- 21:17Speaker 2: Who are you going to be preferencing?
- 21:21Speaker 4: Firstly, we are pressing Kyli Banani the Liberal Democrats, and
- 21:29Speaker 4: then we follow I'm pretty sure, Gosh, I don't have
- 21:35Speaker 4: that in front of me where we go the Liberal Democrats,
- 21:38Speaker 4: then the Pauline Hanson's Party, and then calm Unite that's
- 21:43Speaker 4: the Labor then.
- 21:44Speaker 2: The Greens now just finally Tina, why should people vote
- 21:48Speaker 2: for you?
- 21:52Speaker 4: Because I can work hard and I can do better
- 21:57Speaker 4: And as I said, you know, I have been in
- 22:01Speaker 4: the territory for thirty five years. I know and understand
- 22:04Speaker 4: what territoriums need. I'm out there, I'm listening, I'm on
- 22:09Speaker 4: the ground. I think so many politicians really don't take
- 22:13Speaker 4: the time to listen and talk to the businesses, talk
- 22:15Speaker 4: to the people on the ground. And it's not just
- 22:17Speaker 4: about talking to them, it's actually listening and then feeding
- 22:21Speaker 4: that back in. That's got to feedback into the community
- 22:24Speaker 4: and our parliamentarians down in Canberra. We need to really
- 22:28Speaker 4: have a.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Lowed tho we have run out of time.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Tina McFarland, the COLP candidate for the seat of Solomon,
- 22:34Speaker 2: Thanks so much for your time this morning.
- 22:37Speaker 4: Thank you very much.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Thank you.
