- 0:00Dave Hamilton: Business Brain, episode 797 for Casual Friday.
- 0:04Dave Hamilton: I, October 16th, Global Cat Day, 2026.
- 0:10Dave Hamilton: You know, it's also National Bosses Day. I wonder if the two things are related.
- 0:14Shannon Jean: Yeah, because cats are kind of bossy.
- 0:17Dave Hamilton: You have to train your cats the right way. I love cats. They are absolutely my favorite pets.
- 0:22Shannon Jean: I'm a dog person, so it's good.
- 0:25Dave Hamilton: Cats are independent. I like that you can just be like, hey cool i'm gonna be
- 0:30Dave Hamilton: out for like i don't know three days yeah like cool later
- 0:34Shannon Jean: The dog is totally.
- 0:35Dave Hamilton: Worthless totally worthless in that regard yeah exactly yeah
- 0:39Dave Hamilton: greetings folks greetings folks and welcome to business brain the show where
- 0:42Dave Hamilton: we take some ideas and we crunch them we dissect them we use them to tune our
- 0:47Dave Hamilton: business brains so we can each level up our charmed lives
- 0:50Dave Hamilton: our sponsor for this episode is whatnot at whatnot.com but really you can just
- 0:55Dave Hamilton: search whatnot in the app store and start selling today
- 0:59Dave Hamilton: we'll talk more about that in a little bit for now
- 1:02Dave Hamilton: Here in Durham, New Hampshire, I'm Dave Hamilton.
- 1:04Shannon Jean: And here in Northern California, I'm Shannon Jean. Happy Friday-I.
- 1:08Dave Hamilton: Happy Friday-I. Speaking of AI, which is what we're doing.
- 1:12Dave Hamilton: Yes, we are. Last week, I talked about how I was getting to trust agents
- 1:18Dave Hamilton: more in areas where I either didn't have expertise to correct them or simply
- 1:25Dave Hamilton: wasn't putting any time into correcting them, just sort of letting it do its thing.
- 1:30Shannon Jean: Right.
- 1:31Dave Hamilton: And I'm still doing that. Don't get me wrong. But there are several risks with this.
- 1:39Dave Hamilton: And one that I'm running into, it's not a new one, but in this scenario where
- 1:46Dave Hamilton: I'm letting the AI kind of be the boss of an operation and I'm just there for
- 1:52Dave Hamilton: it to check in with or report back to.
- 1:55Shannon Jean: Okay.
- 1:55Dave Hamilton: Um i would it i'm finding that that tunnel vision is a real issue and i'll explain
- 2:02Dave Hamilton: i'll give an example yeah
- 2:04Dave Hamilton: i have this issue that i've been talking about on mac geek up i'm it seems like
- 2:07Dave Hamilton: based on the internet i'm the only one but i know i'm not the only one with the way
- 2:11Dave Hamilton: ironically apple intelligence and smart mailboxes on the new mac os 27 fight with each other
- 2:19Dave Hamilton: uh if you if you have a specific thing if you have a uh a search a smart mailbox
- 2:24Dave Hamilton: that searches for text in quote unquote entire message okay it will crater your
- 2:30Dave Hamilton: mac when you're using mail
- 2:32Dave Hamilton: uh yeah yeah and i finally figured this out and all this stuff
- 2:37Dave Hamilton: But it took me weeks to get there. And I just, when I noticed this was happening,
- 2:41Dave Hamilton: I just told Claude, I'm like, okay, go.
- 2:43Dave Hamilton: I gave it to like Opus 5.5 or something. And I was just like,
- 2:47Dave Hamilton: I opened up a Claude code session. I gave it access to my full Mac.
- 2:50Dave Hamilton: And I said, diagnose this. Like, figure out what the heck's going on.
- 2:52Dave Hamilton: It's like, I can't live like this.
- 2:54Dave Hamilton: And it went round and round. And we had me doing these tests that required like
- 2:58Dave Hamilton: rebuilding a mail index, which for me takes weeks on this one computer and this
- 3:02Dave Hamilton: whole thing. And like round and round and delete it.
- 3:05Dave Hamilton: And finally I was I asked it I'm like is there a way for us because it was saying
- 3:10Dave Hamilton: well this this one you know one engine hybrid search d
- 3:14Dave Hamilton: is just crunching I'm like yeah I know that's why we started this I could see
- 3:18Dave Hamilton: it using all the cpu what is it doing well it's processing queries on your mail
- 3:23Dave Hamilton: data great what are those queries well we don't know it says
- 3:27Dave Hamilton: because apple hides that data
- 3:30Dave Hamilton: and i was like okay and then finally i said there has to be a way to know so
- 3:35Dave Hamilton: i know you can't see the data in the logs but what can i look at like you know
- 3:39Dave Hamilton: it's my computer i can see every file on it
- 3:43Dave Hamilton: so how can i like how can i do this
- 3:47Dave Hamilton: It started crunching, like, you know, AI does when it's going to answer a question.
- 3:51Dave Hamilton: And it came back and it was like, oh, it turns out I can actually see all of
- 3:54Dave Hamilton: those queries if I look a different way. And here's exactly what it is.
- 3:57Shannon Jean: So it just missed that? Yep. For like a week?
- 4:02Dave Hamilton: Oh, probably three weeks.
- 4:04Shannon Jean: Wow.
- 4:05Dave Hamilton: Yep. Yeah. Every day I'm asking this session, like, how's the test going?
- 4:10Dave Hamilton: Okay. And it's trying to diagnose where it is.
- 4:12Dave Hamilton: And finally, I just asked a different way.
- 4:14Shannon Jean: Yeah.
- 4:15Dave Hamilton: And I know how it is. Like if I was the one doing the troubleshooting and like,
- 4:21Dave Hamilton: say I was, I was your tech support person, right? Shannon, you know,
- 4:24Dave Hamilton: and you were having me do this.
- 4:26Dave Hamilton: I would get caught in that tunnel vision. It happens. Sure. Right.
- 4:29Dave Hamilton: And oftentimes when I was doing that for a living, it would take a customer
- 4:33Dave Hamilton: asking a question. Well, why can't you, you know, why can't we just find out
- 4:37Dave Hamilton: like, uh, actually that's a really good question.
- 4:40Shannon Jean: Why can't we just find out? But you would think.
- 4:43Dave Hamilton: Yes.
- 4:44Shannon Jean: That this. Yeah.
- 4:47Shannon Jean: You know, your AI, whatever you're using, Claude, Muse, Instinct.
- 4:51Dave Hamilton: Yeah, I mean, I was using a frontier model, like latest and greatest.
- 4:54Shannon Jean: It should have, so basically you had to tell it to look at it another way or
- 4:59Shannon Jean: just to simplify how it was looking?
- 5:00Dave Hamilton: No, to look another way. I just said, look, there has to be a way.
- 5:04Dave Hamilton: And again, part of what's gotten me relying on these things as much as I am
- 5:09Dave Hamilton: is their relentlessness, right? Like, that's the whole issue,
- 5:14Dave Hamilton: like, when Mythos came out but couldn't come out. It was like,
- 5:17Dave Hamilton: well, it just won't stop until it gets an answer.
- 5:19Dave Hamilton: Yeah, that could be bad. Well, you want that, but at the same time.
- 5:22Dave Hamilton: That's what I want, unless you're, like, you know, going to do something to
- 5:26Dave Hamilton: blow up my house, and then that's bad.
- 5:27Dave Hamilton: Right. But, like, otherwise, yes, I want that.
- 5:30Dave Hamilton: And so that's the part I was relying on, was that it was going to just attack this from all angles,
- 5:38Dave Hamilton: and it it didn't at all like i and and like i said all i asked was like all right
- 5:45Dave Hamilton: i've got some time it is now worth it to me to go and invest some of my time
- 5:49Dave Hamilton: i'm going to troubleshoot this where are we and what files can i look at
- 5:54Dave Hamilton: and it didn't even answer that question it just like it's my guess is it started
- 5:58Dave Hamilton: to and realized well wait a minute if he can see him. I can see him.
- 6:01Shannon Jean: Yeah, why can't I?
- 6:02Dave Hamilton: And it's like, I can, and it was like, I'm sorry.
- 6:04Shannon Jean: So I guess,
- 6:07Shannon Jean: if you get to that point and you're not sure but you think there's a better
- 6:12Shannon Jean: way is just rephrasing the question to the AI. Hey,
- 6:17Shannon Jean: Let's look at this from other angles. What are we missing here?
- 6:20Shannon Jean: Getting it to kind of break down that kind of stuff?
- 6:22Dave Hamilton: I think that's a great question to ask. What are we missing here? Or what's another way?
- 6:29Dave Hamilton: If we were to start at the beginning, knowing what we know now, where would we look?
- 6:37Dave Hamilton: Because that's the problem is it's ingesting all of this context into every query.
- 6:41Dave Hamilton: And so everything that's done up till that point is treated as like gospel.
- 6:47Dave Hamilton: Like, of course, this is the path we're supposed to be on. When in fact,
- 6:50Dave Hamilton: what if we took a different path?
- 6:52Dave Hamilton: And some version of that question is exactly right, Shania. Please take a different path. Yeah.
- 6:58Dave Hamilton: Which is what other humans do when it's two people talking. You know, you get the expert.
- 7:03Shannon Jean: That's the benefit of someone looking at it, walking up going,
- 7:07Shannon Jean: well, have you tried this? or you didn't think, actually, it's much simpler
- 7:10Shannon Jean: to look at it this way or do that, but you're right.
- 7:13Shannon Jean: And maybe that's also an argument for using different models,
- 7:18Shannon Jean: right? Where you could say, man, I've been trying this with Claude and it just
- 7:22Shannon Jean: didn't get anywhere. What are we doing wrong? What would you do?
- 7:25Dave Hamilton: I wouldn't even say that you need different models. I think you just need different
- 7:28Dave Hamilton: sessions, different agents, right?
- 7:31Dave Hamilton: You could use different models, but the issue is in the agent itself.
- 7:36Dave Hamilton: If you just, and, and I will do this sometimes. And again, I hadn't done it
- 7:40Dave Hamilton: with this where I'll say, okay, we're going to have another agent look at this,
- 7:44Dave Hamilton: describe everything you've done, but don't give it any advice as to what to look at. Yeah.
- 7:49Dave Hamilton: Right. And then it's, and the nice part is it has no emotion.
- 7:53Dave Hamilton: So when you ask a human that, like, I'm going to go, Hey doctor,
- 7:57Dave Hamilton: I'm going to go get a second opinion.
- 7:59Dave Hamilton: Like they'll be professional about it, but they don't like it.
- 8:02Dave Hamilton: The agent has no like nor dislike. It doesn't care. it's like oh of course you
- 8:06Dave Hamilton: want a second opinion you do whatever you want I don't care you know and but
- 8:12Dave Hamilton: One thing I found and maybe there's something to be learned from this I'm just
- 8:16Dave Hamilton: going to explain this when I was doing a lot of computer consulting troubleshooting
- 8:21Dave Hamilton: I found it very helpful for me. And there's two reasons for this.
- 8:27Dave Hamilton: I learned that as soon as I started, I would explain to the client what I was doing and why.
- 8:34Dave Hamilton: I would try and keep it translated into human terms as best I could.
- 8:39Dave Hamilton: And the reason I started doing it was because I knew that there was going to
- 8:44Dave Hamilton: be some problems that I couldn't solve.
- 8:45Dave Hamilton: But I wouldn't know that until I got to a point where I was like waving the white flag.
- 8:49Dave Hamilton: Yeah i still wanted to get paid for my time so i had to make sure that my time
- 8:55Dave Hamilton: was valuable and and by explaining to them what i was doing i was showing them my expertise but also
- 9:01Dave Hamilton: teaching them right you know about how to troubleshoot their computer yeah if
- 9:05Dave Hamilton: they ever wanted to you know whether they did or not fine
- 9:09Dave Hamilton: but what i found was by explaining it to them
- 9:13Dave Hamilton: i would have insights about solving the problem that they would that I would
- 9:17Dave Hamilton: never have had if I just stuck in my own tunnel vision so maybe
- 9:24Dave Hamilton: one of the things one of the tactics is ask the AI hey stop and I'm a little
- 9:30Dave Hamilton: confused I know we've been through a lot of things please just explain to me
- 9:34Dave Hamilton: where we are like I'm five
- 9:36Shannon Jean: Yeah I like that yeah that's that's good,
- 9:39Shannon Jean: And then coming up with a different way. No, I think it's great coming up with
- 9:41Shannon Jean: a different way to look at those problems. Yeah. Smart. Yeah.
- 9:45Shannon Jean: Makes a lot of sense. All right.
- 9:46Dave Hamilton: We have AI. So this is AI is talking to humans.
- 9:50Dave Hamilton: We have a discussion to have. There is a discussion to have about AI is talking
- 9:55Dave Hamilton: to other AIs that that we are going to have as soon as we finish telling you about our sponsors.
- 10:03Dave Hamilton: Here's what surprised me the most about our sponsor. What not?
- 10:06Dave Hamilton: It's not just one thing. Right.
- 10:09Dave Hamilton: I went in there and I was looking for an electronic show, right?
- 10:13Dave Hamilton: And I saw this guy running piece after piece, talking to everybody in the chat the whole time.
- 10:19Dave Hamilton: Genuinely fun, like a really engaging experience.
- 10:23Dave Hamilton: And then I realized that the same app, whatnot, also has beauty,
- 10:28Dave Hamilton: collectibles, luxury fashion, right? Sports cards and somehow cookies, right?
- 10:34Dave Hamilton: I've really enjoyed interacting with it. And if you've got something to sell,
- 10:39Dave Hamilton: please go check it out, right? Because that's the part for us.
- 10:43Dave Hamilton: Anyone can sell on whatnot, big businesses, small businesses,
- 10:48Dave Hamilton: or a business that doesn't exist yet, right?
- 10:51Dave Hamilton: People selling there sell 10 times more than on other major marketplaces because
- 10:58Dave Hamilton: you're not just listing products.
- 11:00Dave Hamilton: You're building actual connections. You're talking and people are listening and engaging.
- 11:05Dave Hamilton: Buyers spend more than an hour a day in the app, and they come back to see your
- 11:10Dave Hamilton: face instead of just your logo, right?
- 11:13Dave Hamilton: That's the charmed life. An audience that shows up for you, not just for your inventory.
- 11:18Dave Hamilton: Search Whatnot, W-H-A-T-N-O-T, in the App Store, download, and you can start
- 11:25Dave Hamilton: selling right away, too. Go check it out. I think you're going to like it.
- 11:29Dave Hamilton: And our thanks to Whatnot for sponsoring this episode.
- 11:33Dave Hamilton: All right what do we have here so
- 11:34Shannon Jean: Yeah yeah so a couple days ago i use grokbot all the time i love it i think
- 11:39Shannon Jean: it's great it's include if you have a premium plus account on x um,
- 11:44Shannon Jean: that has some usage limits but i don't rarely do i hit them it's it's included
- 11:48Shannon Jean: in that so it's quote free um and what happened was a couple days ago they turned
- 11:54Shannon Jean: on uh or flipped a switch where your one of your bots or,
- 12:00Shannon Jean: My chief of staff that I have do it has access to all my X data.
- 12:05Dave Hamilton: Okay.
- 12:06Shannon Jean: And before, you kind of had to cut and paste. It couldn't do stuff. It was kind of limited.
- 12:11Dave Hamilton: So it's almost like an internal MCP connector-ish for X.
- 12:17Shannon Jean: Yeah. You don't need an MCP. You don't need an API.
- 12:22Shannon Jean: And it can see all your posts. It can get into your – I don't know if it can
- 12:26Shannon Jean: get into your DMs. It can't post for you. It can't act as you.
- 12:31Shannon Jean: It's read-only, right? But it can pull data.
- 12:35Shannon Jean: Like one of the first things I did is I said, go through every post I made in
- 12:38Shannon Jean: 2025 and create a spreadsheet of my top 100 posts and give me all the data,
- 12:47Shannon Jean: the engagement, the likes, the replies.
- 12:51Shannon Jean: And it's really great because… Now, would….
- 12:58Dave Hamilton: Does X not allow that? I forgot. X totally like foobarred the whole API thing
- 13:04Dave Hamilton: for a while there, right? Okay.
- 13:07Shannon Jean: You can get in their API. It's very expensive.
- 13:09Dave Hamilton: Well, that's the thing. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It didn't used to be for like individuals to use.
- 13:14Shannon Jean: Yeah, I would pay an outside service that was paying the high API fees.
- 13:19Shannon Jean: Yeah, yeah, yeah. And they would charge you 50 bucks a month or whatever.
- 13:22Dave Hamilton: Okay, so you couldn't just do this with Claude previously. Okay. No. Okay.
- 13:27Shannon Jean: No, it would get stuck.
- 13:29Dave Hamilton: Yeah, I got it.
- 13:29Shannon Jean: Yeah, so really very helpful. It catches, like I can ask it.
- 13:34Shannon Jean: So now it's in my X feed every single day.
- 13:37Shannon Jean: It'll come up and say, hey, this is getting a bunch of replies.
- 13:41Shannon Jean: You need to go look at this post.
- 13:43Shannon Jean: This one is not performing. Here's, let's do A-B testing.
- 13:47Shannon Jean: It's pretty good. So I created a new GrokBot or my two agents.
- 13:53Shannon Jean: He spun up a new agent that is like my voice coach that is just in there tracking
- 14:00Shannon Jean: what's going on, making suggestions, talking about what's getting the best response.
- 14:06Shannon Jean: So if you are – and I don't know. I'm sure Muse can do this for Facebook too
- 14:12Shannon Jean: if you're doing this kind of thing on Facebook.
- 14:14Dave Hamilton: I know a lot about this. Yes. So I haven't done it with Muse. Yeah.
- 14:20Dave Hamilton: A couple of weeks ago, I realized, you know, there are tons of people we've had.
- 14:26Dave Hamilton: I don't know. We get about three million views a month on across Instagram and
- 14:31Dave Hamilton: meta on my gig gab stuff. OK.
- 14:34Dave Hamilton: And, you know, comments galore.
- 14:36Shannon Jean: How do you answer? Yes.
- 14:37Dave Hamilton: Right. And at some point at one point early on, less than a year ago,
- 14:41Dave Hamilton: I was in there answering everything. And then suddenly I think I took a trip
- 14:45Dave Hamilton: or something and came back. It was like, well, there's too much to do. Yeah.
- 14:49Dave Hamilton: And now, like, I don't touch it, and it just, it keeps going, which is amazing.
- 14:54Dave Hamilton: Sadie works it, for sure. Okay. But, like, it would be better if I was in there
- 14:59Dave Hamilton: doing some things sometimes, for obvious reasons.
- 15:03Dave Hamilton: And I thought, okay. And then I thought, you know, there's a ton of good questions
- 15:08Dave Hamilton: that people are asking that we could answer.
- 15:10Shannon Jean: That's exactly right.
- 15:11Dave Hamilton: Yes. And so I was like, but there's no freaking way that I'm going to go and find them.
- 15:17Dave Hamilton: And so I just asked Claude, I said, can like, if I give you a web browser with
- 15:22Dave Hamilton: access to my meta business suite, can you do this?
- 15:24Dave Hamilton: And it was like, yes, but we don't need that because you can have MCP access
- 15:31Dave Hamilton: to your meta business suite and it makes my life way easier.
- 15:35Dave Hamilton: And I'm like, oh yeah, say less.
- 15:36Shannon Jean: Yeah, you don't have to do it.
- 15:37Dave Hamilton: Yeah, it was like, get me an API key, put it here, do a thing.
- 15:40Dave Hamilton: So it built a co-work session, which is an agent. I mean, it's just another agent.
- 15:44Dave Hamilton: And now every Monday, it went through hundreds of thousands of messages overnight one night.
- 15:51Dave Hamilton: So great. Built a spreadsheet, actually an artifact, like an interactive thing
- 15:57Dave Hamilton: with 375 questions that came from listeners.
- 16:03Dave Hamilton: I organized them and then said, these are the ones I think that you probably
- 16:07Dave Hamilton: would get the most traction out of answering.
- 16:09Dave Hamilton: And then I did two episodes worth of Q&A. So great. And people are loving it.
- 16:13Dave Hamilton: And then I said, actually, I got to do this next part.
- 16:15Dave Hamilton: Now that I know which questions I answered, I'm going to go back and have it
- 16:19Dave Hamilton: post, hey, you should listen to episode 557 because we answered your question. Yeah.
- 16:24Shannon Jean: Yeah. Yeah. And it's like that kind of work is like is incredible.
- 16:30Shannon Jean: You know, I had Claude. I have like over.
- 16:32Dave Hamilton: There's no world where I would have done that work.
- 16:34Shannon Jean: No, no. I have over 1,000 videos posted on YouTube on my channel,
- 16:38Shannon Jean: which is Shannon J. Jean.
- 16:39Dave Hamilton: Yep.
- 16:40Shannon Jean: And I wanted to make a change because there's static stuff that are in the show notes. Yeah, yeah.
- 16:47Shannon Jean: And so I said, hey, and I got access to it and you get an MCP.
- 16:53Shannon Jean: Yeah. I don't know if I use Composio or not. But anyway, I got access to it,
- 16:56Shannon Jean: Claude. And I said, I want to change this. I want to change this.
- 16:59Shannon Jean: There's a static link. It's updated.
- 17:02Shannon Jean: And I want to add this. And it's like, great, no problem. And I say,
- 17:04Shannon Jean: don't touch anything else because everything else is unique to each show.
- 17:07Dave Hamilton: Right, right. Don't overthink this.
- 17:10Shannon Jean: No, don't go wipe everything out and then leave it.
- 17:14Dave Hamilton: I did the one thing. Yeah, there it is.
- 17:15Shannon Jean: Yes, and now that's all there's there. So yeah, I mean, Claude was able to go
- 17:18Shannon Jean: through over a thousand videos. It took about 15 minutes and it added a couple,
- 17:23Shannon Jean: it changed one link, added another email.
- 17:25Shannon Jean: And, you know, incredible. I never would have ever done it.
- 17:28Dave Hamilton: It's not out yet, but Google, I just got an email an hour before we were posting
- 17:32Dave Hamilton: the show that Google Workspace is adding MCP servers very soon.
- 17:37Dave Hamilton: Oh, that's going to be great. Which is, again, I love when we have these conversations
- 17:44Dave Hamilton: because we all get to kind of hear each other's examples.
- 17:49Dave Hamilton: I know that like Shannon's example doesn't exactly apply to me and my example
- 17:53Dave Hamilton: doesn't exactly apply to Shannon and they certainly don't all exactly apply
- 17:57Dave Hamilton: to each and every one of you.
- 17:59Dave Hamilton: But hopefully you hear it and you're like, well, I don't need that.
- 18:02Dave Hamilton: But, but, but hang on. Yes. Hang on.
- 18:05Dave Hamilton: I didn't think about this. Like, whoa. Yeah. And I mean, I could have done my
- 18:10Dave Hamilton: Q&A thing with GigGab months ago. The technology was there.
- 18:14Dave Hamilton: I just didn't think about it. So that's part of the point of why we do these episodes.
- 18:19Dave Hamilton: And I'd love to hear what you're doing with it because we can share it on the
- 18:23Dave Hamilton: show and just make it part of the hive mind. So feedback at GigGab. Sorry. Nope.
- 18:28Dave Hamilton: Feedback at businessbrain.show.
- 18:32Dave Hamilton: I said GigGab too many times.
- 18:35Shannon Jean: Yeah. I love it. And you're right. It's great to be able to,
- 18:38Shannon Jean: you know, the use case may be different, but the concept and the switch that
- 18:44Shannon Jean: goes off when you talk about this stuff, it's like, oh, wait, I want to fix this thing.
- 18:48Shannon Jean: That I haven't been able to fix or use this data.
- 18:51Shannon Jean: And I think with like GrokBot, Access to X, Google Workspace,
- 18:55Shannon Jean: all this stuff, it's really getting us better access to our own data.
- 19:01Dave Hamilton: Right?
- 19:02Shannon Jean: Yep. It's our data. We have it. And I mean, yeah, it's on somebody else's platform,
- 19:07Shannon Jean: but it's somebody interacting with our show or with us or whatever.
- 19:10Shannon Jean: And these tools, these agents are just getting us closer to where we actually
- 19:15Shannon Jean: can control that data better.
- 19:17Dave Hamilton: Yeah, that yes. And work with it better and all of that stuff.
- 19:20Dave Hamilton: Yeah, it's yeah, it's great.
- 19:22Dave Hamilton: I am going to take I was actually thinking about this earlier.
- 19:26Dave Hamilton: So before we talk about the big takeaway, I want to share. I'll mention Gig Gab one more time.
- 19:32Dave Hamilton: Yeah, many, not all, but, you know, it's the show for working musicians.
- 19:36Dave Hamilton: So there are often segments on Gig Gab that could easily just be business brain segments. Right.
- 19:44Dave Hamilton: I mean, they're entrepreneurs. Every musician is an entrepreneur,
- 19:46Dave Hamilton: right? So I'm talking to entrepreneurs all the time.
- 19:49Dave Hamilton: And I recently talked with a guy just earlier this month, last week,
- 19:53Dave Hamilton: a guy named Chris Krohn, who started, I mean, he was working like construction.
- 20:00Dave Hamilton: He was like working at a school.
- 20:02Dave Hamilton: But he's a singer and a guitar player and a piano player.
- 20:07Dave Hamilton: And he posted a video to instagram breaking down the harmonies for the beach boys wouldn't it be nice
- 20:15Dave Hamilton: and he happened to call it how to sing wouldn't it be nice and it blew up like
- 20:20Dave Hamilton: you know 10 million views or something like that right yeah and i mean he did
- 20:23Dave Hamilton: a great job with it like obviously you know he showed in those harmonies are like
- 20:28Dave Hamilton: intricate and fun and they're songs everybody knows but they're hard to figure out so it's got the
- 20:33Dave Hamilton: you know the like accessible part and the nerdy part, and he did it,
- 20:37Dave Hamilton: and it's very efficient.
- 20:38Dave Hamilton: And he kept doing that, and he tells his story, and it really is an inspiring
- 20:45Dave Hamilton: story, and the way that he kind of worked through it
- 20:50Dave Hamilton: And he that wound up through it through a series of events that wound up getting
- 20:57Dave Hamilton: in front of John Stamos, who is, you know, was with Full House,
- 21:02Dave Hamilton: but also has been playing in the Beach Boys for 41 years.
- 21:05Dave Hamilton: And and he wound up talking to John and John's like, I love what you're doing.
- 21:09Dave Hamilton: And he started doing tons of these Beach Boys ones because that's what he was
- 21:12Dave Hamilton: getting traction with. Right. And he started making he's like,
- 21:16Dave Hamilton: Instagram has paid me tens of dollars, which is great. Yes.
- 21:21Dave Hamilton: But that all led to earlier this year, Bruce Eichenberger, who's the music director
- 21:28Dave Hamilton: of Beach Boys, called him up and said, hey, Bruce Johnston is stepping down
- 21:32Dave Hamilton: from touring. We'd love to have you join the touring band.
- 21:37Dave Hamilton: And he shared this part on the show, and I'll let you hear the rest if you want
- 21:40Dave Hamilton: to listen to the episode, because it really is an entrepreneurship thing.
- 21:43Dave Hamilton: That's killer. His wife, he and his wife were talking about how she like what
- 21:48Dave Hamilton: they could do to make it so that she could stop working full time and spend
- 21:52Dave Hamilton: more time with their kids. And then this phone call comes to it. Right.
- 21:57Shannon Jean: Yeah. It's such a great example of why you should be posting online.
- 22:00Dave Hamilton: And just keep doing the thing. It just keep doing the thing.
- 22:05Shannon Jean: Two years.
- 22:07Dave Hamilton: Two years. Right. And also, there was a big part of the conversation about getting
- 22:13Dave Hamilton: caught up in what your calling is, and that's the only way to live a successful life and all of this.
- 22:19Dave Hamilton: And he's like, no, I was leading a successful life, providing for my family,
- 22:24Dave Hamilton: working construction, and that wasn't my calling, but it was something I could do.
- 22:29Dave Hamilton: And now here he is doing something that's closer to his calling.
- 22:34Dave Hamilton: And this I haven't talked with him but this past weekend Mike love from the
- 22:39Dave Hamilton: Beach Boys is not in great health yes and so Chris wound up singing leads on most of my songs
- 22:49Dave Hamilton: Like these two big gigs, they played the Ryman on Sunday night and he,
- 22:52Dave Hamilton: you know, there's Chris singing fun, fun, fun in front of a crowd of people
- 22:55Dave Hamilton: at the Ryman Auditorium on stage as part of the Beach Boys.
- 22:59Shannon Jean: That's a Ryman in Nashville. Yeah. Yeah. We just went there.
- 23:02Shannon Jean: That's awesome. That's a great thing.
- 23:03Dave Hamilton: Like, and so, so like if you want an inspiring entrepreneurship story.
- 23:09Dave Hamilton: Yes. I'll put a link to that one in the show.
- 23:10Shannon Jean: Put the link in there. And then
- 23:12Shannon Jean: next week we'll, on one of our episodes of Business Spring, come back.
- 23:15Shannon Jean: Because we're going to talk about getting comfortable in front of the camera
- 23:18Shannon Jean: and how it can change your life and sharing in public and how it can change
- 23:22Shannon Jean: your life and build your business because everybody wants founder-led content,
- 23:25Shannon Jean: and wherever you're at in your journey, you need to share.
- 23:29Dave Hamilton: Yeah, it's true. All right, what's the big takeaway from this episode,
- 23:32Dave Hamilton: though? It's because we're talking about managing AI tunnel vision and the GrokBotX thing.
- 23:39Shannon Jean: I think it's better access to our own data. Yeah, I agree. I think that is that
- 23:44Shannon Jean: it's just going to get better and better where before there was all these gatekeepers
- 23:48Shannon Jean: and you couldn't get access to stuff and it was very difficult to work with.
- 23:51Shannon Jean: Now with these agents, you're going to be you're going to just be closer to
- 23:57Shannon Jean: the information that's related to you and your business. That's it. It's great.
- 24:00Dave Hamilton: Yeah, I agree. I totally agree. It's a conversation.
- 24:04Dave Hamilton: I know it feels like we've had it over and over again and we have.
- 24:08Dave Hamilton: But every time we have it, there's another three layers to the onion that have been unpeeled.
- 24:14Shannon Jean: Yeah, it's just like it's better and better and better, and it's terrific.
- 24:17Shannon Jean: And we're going to write more about this on our business blueprint,
- 24:20Shannon Jean: which is like our business plan for the topics of the week.
- 24:23Shannon Jean: Go to businessbrain.show slash blueprints, and you can download it.
- 24:28Shannon Jean: Give us a day or so to get it up there, but we have hundreds of other ones.
- 24:32Dave Hamilton: Yeah, yeah, go sign up, and then you just can get them all. It's amazing.
