The England Captain Who Played For Wales
If you Google 'first Black captain of England rugby', you will be shown results featuring Jason Robinson. Whilst Robinson's captaincy against Canada in 2004 was groundbreaking, Paula George, better known as Georgie, had actually broken the barrier four years previously when she skippered the Red Roses. From an isolating upbringing in South Wales, she went on to be capped by two nations, breaking down barriers in both. To celebrate Black History Month 2026, this pod looks at the career of Paula George.
