- 0:03Speaker 1: Jobs. Welcome into Jagsam today.
- 0:22Speaker 2: I'm kind Nannie Stevens, John Osier, and Brian sexsoner with
- 0:25Speaker 2: me here today as we get ready to go over
- 0:28Speaker 2: a pretty tough holiday weekend for Jags fans, as Jags
- 0:32Speaker 2: lost their fourth game in a row to the Bucks,
- 0:34Speaker 2: and after the game, Trevor Lawrence pretty much at a
- 0:36Speaker 2: loss for words.
- 0:41Speaker 3: It's really embarrassing and frustrating. And you put a lot
- 0:45Speaker 3: of work in to do that, and to look like
- 0:47Speaker 3: you don't even practice. I mean, that's what it looks like,
- 0:49Speaker 3: which is, you know, it's got a call like you
- 0:52Speaker 3: see it sometimes. I mean, it's it's bad all the
- 0:54Speaker 3: way around. So we gotta find ways to get better.
- 0:56Speaker 3: We gotta get out of our own way. It just
- 0:58Speaker 3: feels like everything's so different right now. I just do
- 1:01Speaker 3: simple things, you know, make the simple place. Just get
- 1:04Speaker 3: back to doing what we what we've done this season
- 1:07Speaker 3: at points and when we were playing well and you know,
- 1:09Speaker 3: we know we have we have what it takes, but
- 1:12Speaker 3: I mean we haven't the last month. So at the
- 1:15Speaker 3: most important times, we got to play better and we're not.
- 1:17Speaker 2: So let's get into our big things here today. Because
- 1:22Speaker 2: the first big thing is this team is reeling right now.
- 1:24Speaker 2: They had a winless December thus far, they lost four games,
- 1:27Speaker 2: and as you heard Trevor say, feels like the team
- 1:29Speaker 2: looks like they don't practice. Now he hasn't practiced because
- 1:32Speaker 2: of injuries, but the rest of the team has. Doug
- 1:34Speaker 2: Peterson tried to figure out exactly what Turyor's trying to say,
- 1:38Speaker 2: and when.
- 1:39Speaker 4: He doesn't practice, maybe he feels that way, you know,
- 1:42Speaker 4: And I can I can see that right when when
- 1:44Speaker 4: when your quarterback doesn't get the reps he needs during
- 1:46Speaker 4: the week and you're trying to get the mental reps
- 1:48Speaker 4: for him, and he's also working on you know, the
- 1:50Speaker 4: concussion protocol and then getting cleared from that. So there,
- 1:54Speaker 4: I can see where he would say something like that.
- 1:56Speaker 4: But listen, you guys are you guys are in practice.
- 1:59Speaker 4: You see the the way the way we go and
- 2:01Speaker 4: what we've done, and you know, the guys are working
- 2:05Speaker 4: hard and and but you know we've got some new
- 2:08Speaker 4: faces on offense that yeah, they they've they've gotta they've
- 2:12Speaker 4: gotta you know, they've got to pay attention to if
- 2:16Speaker 4: we're doing kills and alerts and different things at the quarterback.
- 2:19Speaker 4: You know, wants to get us into They've got to
- 2:21Speaker 4: pay attention, They've got to focus and lock in.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Brian, those are some strong words from Trevor about what
- 2:27Speaker 2: the team's been looking like lately.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Where's the disconnect here?
- 2:30Speaker 5: Well, look for me, I was glad to see him
- 2:34Speaker 5: express that frustration out loud. He has since his rookie
- 2:37Speaker 5: season when things were way off the rails, always been
- 2:41Speaker 5: the guy who says the right thing and keeps the
- 2:43Speaker 5: focus on the team. To be honest with you, John,
- 2:45Speaker 5: I was looking for sort of a Patrick Mahomes moment,
- 2:47Speaker 5: you know, that one at the end of that Bills
- 2:48Speaker 5: game that the Chiefs lost, that Air had a few
- 2:50Speaker 5: weeks ago where he went nuts on the sideline and
- 2:53Speaker 5: was so angry about his team. I get it. People
- 2:55Speaker 5: express their frustration in different ways, but to me, this
- 2:59Speaker 5: was just as far as Trevor has gone down that
- 3:01Speaker 5: road of pointing out the deficiencies and not seeming to
- 3:04Speaker 5: worry too much about who cared about what he said.
- 3:07Speaker 5: And I think it's important because it's his team. This
- 3:10Speaker 5: is on him. He's the leader, and if he's frustrated
- 3:13Speaker 5: in expressing it to the media, you know he's doing
- 3:16Speaker 5: it to his teammates and that gives them a chance
- 3:18Speaker 5: to make the correction.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:19Speaker 6: I think it was his version of you know what
- 3:23Speaker 6: Mahomes did at the end of the game. Look, he's
- 3:27Speaker 6: not without fault, the pocket stuff, the losing the fumbles.
- 3:31Speaker 6: At some point that has to stop or minimize. It's
- 3:34Speaker 6: gonna happen. But a lot of the miscommunications with receivers.
- 3:39Speaker 6: There's so much to dig into with Trevor's performance, but
- 3:42Speaker 6: so much of it not practicing. All that stuff feels
- 3:46Speaker 6: like it's adding up a little bit. I wish I
- 3:50Speaker 6: had one sentence that could sum up the lead of
- 3:54Speaker 6: this section. Reeling they are, but again it's still not irvy,
- 3:58Speaker 6: It's still in first place.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Yeah, well silver lining, they are reeling for sure. Let's
- 4:03Speaker 2: go to our second big thing, which is another one.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Trevor Lawrence had a tough performance against the Bucks, and
- 4:09Speaker 2: he left that game with another injury as an ac
- 4:12Speaker 2: sprain to his right his throwing shoulder, and that's his
- 4:15Speaker 2: fourth injury so far this season. Doug Peterson talked about
- 4:18Speaker 2: the violent nature of the game and how he's going
- 4:20Speaker 2: to deal with his hurt quarterback.
- 4:23Speaker 4: My injuries are going to happen and especially to the
- 4:26Speaker 4: quarterback position. You know, all the all the injuries that
- 4:31Speaker 4: that he has sustained are all you know, all all hits,
- 4:34Speaker 4: you know, all contact stuff, and and it's it's part
- 4:38Speaker 4: of it, you know, And that's that's his style, and
- 4:40Speaker 4: that's his aggressiveness and and you know, he's he's been
- 4:43Speaker 4: fortunate enough to bounce back from all of them. So
- 4:46Speaker 4: you know, we'll see as he goes this week where
- 4:48Speaker 4: he's at. But you know, we've been fortunate that he's
- 4:52Speaker 4: been able to be available every every week so far.
- 4:57Speaker 2: John, we don't know what exactly Trevor's availability is going
- 4:59Speaker 2: to practice this week, but you have to imagine he'll
- 5:01Speaker 2: be limited in some respect. Is this going to get
- 5:04Speaker 2: much better if he's not out there practicing, Well.
- 5:06Speaker 6: I mean, that's I guess that's the only concern I
- 5:09Speaker 6: would have. If he's practicing during the week, or it
- 5:12Speaker 6: would practice a little bit, then I have no problem
- 5:15Speaker 6: with gutting it through and then playing. The problem is,
- 5:20Speaker 6: in the last couple of times he has played without practice,
- 5:23Speaker 6: it hasn't looked good, and there's been miscommunications. I don't
- 5:27Speaker 6: know if they're on him, if they're on receivers. My senses.
- 5:32Speaker 6: Some of the interceptions, they were more on receivers. But
- 5:35Speaker 6: if that's causing lack of communication in the offense, then
- 5:40Speaker 6: you do wonder if he doesn't practice at all this week,
- 5:44Speaker 6: do you again roll him out and start him. I
- 5:47Speaker 6: probably would because he's still the guy, and I still
- 5:49Speaker 6: think he gives you the best chance to win. But
- 5:51Speaker 6: the non practice would give me more pause than I
- 5:54Speaker 6: have felt on this issue so far.
- 5:56Speaker 5: Yeah, he had three turnovers on Sunday, and he didn't
- 5:58Speaker 5: practice last week with the head, had three turnovers in
- 6:00Speaker 5: Cleveland the week he did in practice with the ankle.
- 6:03Speaker 5: I mean, you don't have to really extrapolate too far
- 6:05Speaker 5: to realize that Trevor Lee Lawrence needs time to practice. Now, Maibe,
- 6:09Speaker 5: you're want to look deeper into it. You can say
- 6:12Speaker 5: that he would be better without practice if as on
- 6:15Speaker 5: that Thursday night in New Orleans, he had Christian Kirk
- 6:17Speaker 5: and he had Zay Jones, and he had his offensive
- 6:20Speaker 5: line at full strength. That's the trouble is he's out
- 6:23Speaker 5: there throwing to Elijah Cooks, Parker Washington, Tim Jones. The
- 6:27Speaker 5: time he isn't there. The familiarity isn't there. They don't
- 6:30Speaker 5: get time on the practice field. So there's I mean,
- 6:32Speaker 5: it's a huge variable. But John, if you're gonna roll
- 6:36Speaker 5: him out there coming off a concussion in Tampa, if
- 6:39Speaker 5: he's able to play at all, I don't know why
- 6:40Speaker 5: you wouldn't put him out there and give him a
- 6:42Speaker 5: chance to get you over the hump. And you know,
- 6:45Speaker 5: the playoff scenarios roll out interesting. You know, if the
- 6:47Speaker 5: Jaguars don't win this weekend, the other two teams do,
- 6:49Speaker 5: it's really dicey for them to even make the playoffs.
- 6:52Speaker 5: So my guess is they're gonna find a way to
- 6:55Speaker 5: get him on the field.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Our final big thing today is time for a change
- 6:59Speaker 2: because so obviously it's not just the quarterback that's having issues.
- 7:02Speaker 2: There's issues everywhere, coaching staff, players, both sides of the ball,
- 7:05Speaker 2: special teams, and Doug was asked if you know he
- 7:09Speaker 2: should shake things up a little bit, make a big change,
- 7:12Speaker 2: start doing the play calling again.
- 7:13Speaker 1: That's what he had to say.
- 7:16Speaker 4: We've got to do a better job at taking care
- 7:18Speaker 4: of the football. It's not about the plays, it's not
- 7:21Speaker 4: about all that. You know, We've got to tackle better
- 7:23Speaker 4: and we got to take care of the football. Bottom line,
- 7:25Speaker 4: we do those two things. Those give us a chance
- 7:28Speaker 4: to win football games. If we don't, then then we're
- 7:31Speaker 4: gonna be sitting here, you know, talking about this again.
- 7:34Speaker 4: So to me, that's that's the glaring, the glaring differences
- 7:39Speaker 4: right now between between winning and losing.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Brian Doug was very emphatic that when things go wrong,
- 7:45Speaker 2: everybody points to the finger, but he feels like those
- 7:47Speaker 2: two things are the main issues for them right now.
- 7:49Speaker 5: To agree with that, yeah, I mean, all you do
- 7:52Speaker 5: is watch the game on Sunday and you saw those things,
- 7:54Speaker 5: you know, roll out the week before. They have ten
- 7:58Speaker 5: turnovers in these four losses, only five takeaways. And how
- 8:01Speaker 5: many times on third down and short has there been
- 8:03Speaker 5: a mistackle been allowed the quarterback or the other team
- 8:06Speaker 5: to keep his offense on the field and make plays.
- 8:09Speaker 1: You know.
- 8:10Speaker 5: Look, I can tell you stories about Tom Kaughlin and
- 8:12Speaker 5: John about Tony Dungeye. The great coaches believed in familiarity.
- 8:15Speaker 5: They wanted these players to know exactly what they were
- 8:18Speaker 5: supposed to do. You go shaking things up and changing things,
- 8:22Speaker 5: little things, fine, big things like who's calling the plays.
- 8:25Speaker 5: I wouldn't do it at this point of the year.
- 8:26Speaker 5: And let's be honest, John, Doug has had a hand
- 8:30Speaker 5: in the play calling from the start of the season.
- 8:32Speaker 5: This has not just been all right, throw it to
- 8:34Speaker 5: Press Taylor. These two men know each other so well.
- 8:36Speaker 5: There's such an intricacy between their relationship. This is not
- 8:40Speaker 5: the time where you go, all right, well, I'm gonna
- 8:42Speaker 5: do it all by myself. You want to keep things
- 8:45Speaker 5: familiar for this team so that they don't panic because
- 8:49Speaker 5: major reactions by a coach in process that creates the
- 8:54Speaker 5: knee jerk feeling like, well, here we go. I guess
- 8:56Speaker 5: everything's on the table now. You do that kind of
- 8:58Speaker 5: stuff in the offseason.
- 9:00Speaker 6: It's always play calling in the NFL. So I'd like
- 9:04Speaker 6: to say, because people love to criticize that, I have
- 9:09Speaker 6: not talked to Doug privately about the difference between between
- 9:15Speaker 6: him and Press. I think after fifteen games, if he
- 9:19Speaker 6: thought there was a huge difference, a huge difference in
- 9:22Speaker 6: quality of play calling, he would have quote taken it back.
- 9:25Speaker 6: I think he looks at it and says, the offensive
- 9:27Speaker 6: line isn't run blocking very well. When you don't run block,
- 9:30Speaker 6: when you don't have the option to run, it limits
- 9:32Speaker 6: you as a play caller, no matter who you are.
- 9:35Speaker 6: And when you look at that fundamental. He didn't say
- 9:38Speaker 6: that on Monday or on Tuesday, but if you look
- 9:40Speaker 6: at that fundamental, if you look at the lack of tackling,
- 9:42Speaker 6: and if you look at the turnovers, I think if
- 9:45Speaker 6: those three things were you know, if there're two's, now,
- 9:49Speaker 6: if they were sixes, I think you'd be winning games.
- 9:51Speaker 5: I think that's what he's going.
- 9:52Speaker 1: To focus on.
- 9:53Speaker 5: Well, look, we got the perfect example of why it's
- 9:55Speaker 5: not play calling, and that was the twelve yard laws
- 9:59Speaker 5: on Calvin Ridley reverse. Were Tim Jones, who's in the game,
- 10:03Speaker 5: blocks or misses a block entirely on Yah Yah Dabby
- 10:07Speaker 5: the pass rusher who drops Calvin for the big loss?
- 10:10Speaker 5: Was that Press Taylor that missed that block? No, it wasn't.
- 10:15Speaker 5: It seems you want to yell at the television and
- 10:17Speaker 5: say that's a horrible play call. Well not if it worked.
- 10:20Speaker 5: It worked, and they obviously thought it was going to
- 10:22Speaker 5: based on what they saw.
- 10:23Speaker 6: The no issues plays that don't work stink bright.
- 10:26Speaker 5: Yeah, w it's one. They showed it over and over
- 10:28Speaker 5: and over and you see Tim Jones just with on
- 10:30Speaker 5: the block. That's execution. That's what Doug is talking about
- 10:33Speaker 5: when everybody wants to say, why would you call that play?
- 10:36Speaker 5: And well, look watch it and see what really happened.
- 10:39Speaker 5: There was a press Taylor's fall. It was Tim Jones
- 10:42Speaker 5: who missed the block. Those sorts of things drive you crazy,
- 10:44Speaker 5: and you can't just react to all the outside noise.
- 10:47Speaker 5: They've got to stick with what they know and what
- 10:50Speaker 5: they do and try to do it better.
- 10:52Speaker 2: I will say it might be on the fan side
- 10:53Speaker 2: with this one because I don't want to see the
- 10:55Speaker 2: end around reverses anymore either, because I don't think the
- 10:57Speaker 2: percentage of them, I haven't seen many of them work.
- 11:00Speaker 2: I see them run it a lot, but I haven't
- 11:01Speaker 2: seen a lot of it work. So we'll have to
- 11:03Speaker 2: see if they use that again. Coming up this week
- 11:05Speaker 2: against the Panthers, we're gonna go over the injury report
- 11:08Speaker 2: cause we've got a few more names on there and
- 11:10Speaker 2: one name that might be coming back right here in
- 11:11Speaker 2: jags Am. Welcome back to Jagzam for the by Field's
- 11:23Speaker 2: Auto Group, Jacksonville. You can step up to luxury at
- 11:26Speaker 2: Fields Auto dot Com. We're all t We're also brought
- 11:29Speaker 2: to you by dream Finders' Homes, so they've been proud
- 11:31Speaker 2: to call themselves the official home builder of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 11:34Speaker 2: Visit dreamfinders' homes dot com for all of the available
- 11:37Speaker 2: inventory and go Jags. Welcome back to Jags am here
- 11:41Speaker 2: on this Wednesday, so we get ready for the final
- 11:44Speaker 2: game in December. We're trying to make this not a
- 11:46Speaker 2: winless December, not a winless month. They're own four right now.
- 11:49Speaker 2: They have one more game that's gonna be against the
- 11:51Speaker 2: Carolina Panthers this week, and it's looked on the schedule
- 11:55Speaker 2: like it was gonna be a pretty easy matchup. But
- 11:57Speaker 2: I don't think any of us thought we were gonna
- 11:59Speaker 2: be at this point where now you don't feel one
- 12:02Speaker 2: hundred confident going into this game.
- 12:04Speaker 5: Well, and the injury list is certainly a big part
- 12:06Speaker 5: of that, but also the fact that the Panthers are
- 12:08Speaker 5: playing well. You know, they beat the Falcons two weeks ago,
- 12:11Speaker 5: and last week was arguably Bryce Young's best game as
- 12:14Speaker 5: a pro in that loss, thirty three thirty was the
- 12:16Speaker 5: final to the Green Bay Packers. So you've got a
- 12:19Speaker 5: team coming down here who's playing with a rookie quarterback
- 12:22Speaker 5: and an interim head coach against a team that has
- 12:25Speaker 5: to win to get into the playoffs. Where have we
- 12:28Speaker 5: heard that scenario before?
- 12:30Speaker 6: Yeah, they're I mean, at this point, the Panthers are
- 12:35Speaker 6: just having fun. You know, they know there's a change
- 12:37Speaker 6: coming at the end of the season. They're loose. They've
- 12:41Speaker 6: done a nice job started recovering from the malays of
- 12:43Speaker 6: the first three months, but it's a broken record at
- 12:50Speaker 6: this point. The storyline is more about what the Jaguars
- 12:53Speaker 6: are gonna do. Are they going to show up? Frankly,
- 12:55Speaker 6: Sunday was as listless of performance as I've seen out
- 12:57Speaker 6: of this team, and I don't know how long with
- 13:00Speaker 6: everything on the line, that really surprised me. So can
- 13:05Speaker 6: they show up? And Doug Peterson after the game sense
- 13:08Speaker 6: of urgency That is far more concerned to me than
- 13:13Speaker 6: anything the Panthers do.
- 13:14Speaker 5: No knocking the Panthers.
- 13:15Speaker 6: I just think it's about how the Jaguars play and frankly,
- 13:18Speaker 6: do they show.
- 13:19Speaker 2: Up right, because if they come out with the effort
- 13:21Speaker 2: we saw on Tampa, that's not gonna be good. Also,
- 13:24Speaker 2: we've got to mention we've talked about Trevor's added on
- 13:26Speaker 2: his fourth injury so far this season, but there's a
- 13:28Speaker 2: lot of injured players and Daniel Thomas has been added
- 13:31Speaker 2: to that. He went to IR because of a forearm injury.
- 13:34Speaker 2: Broke his left arm, so he'll be out for the
- 13:37Speaker 2: foreseeable future. Cam Robinson is going to be activated. He
- 13:40Speaker 2: was activated Tuesday, so his windows available and Doug Peterson
- 13:43Speaker 2: talked and said, if everything looks good, they're hopefully gonna
- 13:46Speaker 2: get Cammed back this Sunday against Carolina. And something I
- 13:51Speaker 2: was looking at too, is a little bit John. We
- 13:54Speaker 2: were discussing Tyson Campbell and Andre Cisco. They both missed
- 13:57Speaker 2: time with those soft tissue injuries, and we didn't see
- 14:01Speaker 2: them much in the second half.
- 14:01Speaker 1: So how hurt are they? And you know, if they
- 14:04Speaker 1: are needed to play a full game.
- 14:05Speaker 6: Where they can be able to do that, you would
- 14:09Speaker 6: think not playing a second half on Sunday. Soft tissue
- 14:13Speaker 6: is something that can be aggravated through fatigue. So, hey,
- 14:18Speaker 6: we're down twenty nothing, We're not playing very well. Nobody
- 14:21Speaker 6: else showed up anyway, So why have these guys get hurt?
- 14:25Speaker 6: That feels to me like that At the same time,
- 14:29Speaker 6: they've both dealt with this for a Tyson, it feels
- 14:32Speaker 6: like all season Cisco the last few weeks. Could they
- 14:36Speaker 6: make it through a whole game if they're putting strain
- 14:38Speaker 6: on those soft tissue spots. I don't know that I
- 14:42Speaker 6: would assume they would have played further had the score
- 14:46Speaker 6: been closer on Sunday.
- 14:48Speaker 5: I don't know that we'll know that getting Cam Robinson
- 14:50Speaker 5: back would be a huge left right. I mean, what
- 14:53Speaker 5: he brings in terms of his personality, you can't deny
- 14:57Speaker 5: when he got into the line up there, they started
- 14:59Speaker 5: playing better football. So you'd like to have him back,
- 15:01Speaker 5: especially because Walker Little is still struggling with the hamstring injury.
- 15:06Speaker 5: You know, maybe a week of rehabilitation and time on
- 15:09Speaker 5: the practice field, you at least I would expect that
- 15:12Speaker 5: Cisco and Tyson are gonna make it.
- 15:13Speaker 1: Go for it.
- 15:14Speaker 5: I mean, the way the scenarios roll out, if the
- 15:17Speaker 5: Jaguars don't win on Sunday and both the Texans who
- 15:20Speaker 5: are playing in Nashville and the Colts, who are hosting
- 15:24Speaker 5: the Raiders win, you're out right. I mean, the scenario
- 15:28Speaker 5: has become very there. There's sixteen things that have to
- 15:31Speaker 5: happen for the Jaguars, including them winning in Nashville at
- 15:34Speaker 5: the end of the season, for them to even make
- 15:36Speaker 5: it as a wildcard team. So this is as much
- 15:39Speaker 5: of a must win as they have faced all season long.
- 15:41Speaker 5: So I would imagine as many guys on that list
- 15:44Speaker 5: as can strap on whatever brace or tape and try
- 15:47Speaker 5: and go. We'll go and try and do it.
- 15:50Speaker 2: All right, Stay well, let's coming back. We'll do a
- 15:52Speaker 2: little this or that for this week's matchup against the Panthers.

- 16:31Speaker 1: And career goals.
- 16:35Speaker 4: Four game skid crisis. I mean, you know, our goals
- 16:38Speaker 4: are still in front of us. Nothing's changed there. But
- 16:42Speaker 4: somewhere somewhere we've got to you know, uh, we got
- 16:46Speaker 4: to stop this, you know, damn from from bust.
- 16:49Speaker 5: And wide open this.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Door.
- 16:54Speaker 2: That crisis mode, according to Doug whatever you wanna call it.
- 16:57Speaker 2: But is it panic mode? Is it crisis mode? Or
- 17:00Speaker 2: do you just need to beat the panthers? Is that
- 17:02Speaker 2: as simple as this is? Or will that fix things?
- 17:05Speaker 2: Or is it time to panic right now?
- 17:06Speaker 5: Brand Well, it's never time to panic. I mean, that
- 17:08Speaker 5: doesn't do anybody any good. But I do like the
- 17:10Speaker 5: word desperation, and I use that word because that was
- 17:14Speaker 5: what the folks in San Francisco were describing when the
- 17:17Speaker 5: Niners came east and just beat the Jaguars handling. They
- 17:22Speaker 5: had lost three in a row. It looked like they
- 17:24Speaker 5: were sliding out of the playoff picture in the NFC
- 17:27Speaker 5: and they needed something to turn their season around. So
- 17:30Speaker 5: they came in here, played with an edge, played with
- 17:32Speaker 5: sense of urgency, desperation, whatever it is. There needs to
- 17:37Speaker 5: be a heightened awareness of what's at stake, and that
- 17:39Speaker 5: is lose and you're likely not going to make the playoffs.
- 17:42Speaker 5: And for a team it was eight and three and
- 17:44Speaker 5: had a chance to compete for home field advantage throughout
- 17:47Speaker 5: the playoffs, to just skid out of it entirely, well,
- 17:51Speaker 5: that calls for desperation, right not panic, but it calls
- 17:54Speaker 5: for having you back against the wall and to come
- 17:56Speaker 5: out swing. That's just the way I see it.
- 17:59Speaker 6: Yeah, maybe the Panthers doesn't fix everything, but winning certainly
- 18:08Speaker 6: enables you to come out of the season with a
- 18:10Speaker 6: better feeling. This team hasn't won back to back division
- 18:15Speaker 6: titles in twenty four years, so you get a chance
- 18:21Speaker 6: to make history. And once the season's over, if you
- 18:25Speaker 6: get these last two you finished ten and seven, you
- 18:27Speaker 6: if you're well on the playoffs, then all of a sudden,
- 18:30Speaker 6: you're a tough team that overcame this late season obstacle.
- 18:35Speaker 1: You can still change your narrative.
- 18:38Speaker 5: I guess. I guess I'd like to see.
- 18:40Speaker 6: I don't care much about desperation or anything like that.
- 18:43Speaker 1: I'd like to see some maturity.
- 18:45Speaker 6: I mean, you know, I thought this team for twelve
- 18:49Speaker 6: weeks was a scrappy team that played well, played maturely,
- 18:55Speaker 6: made big plays at the end of games to win.
- 18:58Speaker 6: I thought that defined them, and they haven't been. You know,
- 19:02Speaker 6: I don't think the first three games this losing streak
- 19:05Speaker 6: were just sayly a tragedy. You lost to Cincinnati, Cleveland.
- 19:08Speaker 6: They're good. The Ravens are really good. All of those
- 19:12Speaker 6: you could sort of get. Sunday, they didn't look like
- 19:16Speaker 6: a mature team, and I thought they were. I would
- 19:19Speaker 6: like them to prove me wrong or right or whatever,
- 19:22Speaker 6: but show me that they're mature again on Sunday. They
- 19:25Speaker 6: didn't look it on Sunday.
- 19:26Speaker 1: That was tough.
- 19:27Speaker 2: Whenever it's an effort thing, right, you want to see
- 19:29Speaker 2: you want to assume they're past that. At this point,
- 19:31Speaker 2: I think maybe the only other time I really remember is,
- 19:33Speaker 2: you know, when they're in that Texans game where everything
- 19:35Speaker 2: went wrong in the first quarter and a half and
- 19:37Speaker 2: then it was like they kind of just wrote it off.
- 19:40Speaker 1: And that's kind of what Tempa looked like.
- 19:41Speaker 2: It looks like they got hit in the mouth right
- 19:42Speaker 2: in the beginning and they just didn't really find a
- 19:46Speaker 2: way to wild themselves back into it. And that's part
- 19:48Speaker 2: of being mature. That's part of the National Football League.
- 19:50Speaker 2: As we talk every single week, you have to want
- 19:52Speaker 2: to win every week of the way. It's not going
- 19:53Speaker 2: to happen for you, all right, our other this or
- 19:56Speaker 2: that this week is we touched a little bit on
- 19:58Speaker 2: touched a little bit on this earlier, but for Lawrence
- 20:00Speaker 2: is hurt with his fourth injury, and as we've discussed
- 20:03Speaker 2: on those weeks, he doesn't practice and he plays not
- 20:06Speaker 2: the best of outcomes. So is this another instance where
- 20:10Speaker 2: you need to win this game? Do you roll out
- 20:11Speaker 2: of injury Trebor Lawrence, or do you try to roll
- 20:13Speaker 2: with DJ bethor and get him healthy for hopefully or
- 20:17Speaker 2: game after that, or what do you do?
- 20:18Speaker 1: You just have to play whoever?
- 20:21Speaker 6: I wish I knew, I mean, and I always struggle
- 20:25Speaker 6: with injury related questions because I don't know how hurt
- 20:28Speaker 6: the player is. If his arm is affected to where
- 20:34Speaker 6: he's not thrown effectively, then I don't see how you
- 20:36Speaker 6: can play him guts and moxie, which he has shown
- 20:44Speaker 6: hasn't been enough the last two times he's played. I
- 20:46Speaker 6: don't think he played awfully against Cleveland. There was some
- 20:49Speaker 6: turnovers there. That's a really good pass defense. I didn't
- 20:52Speaker 6: necessarily think that was an awful game, as much as
- 20:54Speaker 6: it was some circumstances. The other day was bad, but
- 21:00Speaker 6: I didn't I don't really know how many the interceptions
- 21:02Speaker 6: were his fault, Brian, So.
- 21:04Speaker 1: I guess I lean back to what I said earlier.
- 21:07Speaker 6: If he can't practice effectively, if it doesn't look like
- 21:11Speaker 6: they're developing chemistry on the field which we won't see.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Then I don't see how you can play them, except.
- 21:18Speaker 5: That he's probably still your best chance to win, all right,
- 21:20Speaker 5: So I just talked about Cisco and Tyson and you
- 21:24Speaker 5: know whoever could strap on a brace and tape it
- 21:27Speaker 5: up and play. Because this game is essentially your season.
- 21:30Speaker 5: You don't win, your playoff chances go to minimal. So
- 21:34Speaker 5: I'd play him, right unless I put myself in a
- 21:38Speaker 5: situation where I need my quarterback to have surgery on
- 21:41Speaker 5: a shoulder like Anthony Richardson did. Right, No, it's not
- 21:44Speaker 5: worth that. You know, this is a season of adversity
- 21:47Speaker 5: and things get away from you, and don't. I don't
- 21:50Speaker 5: mortgage my future for my present. I just I don't.
- 21:55Speaker 5: And so if if the doctors tell me he's clear
- 21:57Speaker 5: to play, and he likely will be okay coming out
- 22:02Speaker 5: of the game, all right. But if I'm worried about
- 22:05Speaker 5: that shoulder and surgery in January and not having him
- 22:08Speaker 5: in the off season to get ready, then I'm thinking
- 22:11Speaker 5: really really hard about putting c. J. Bethort in because
- 22:15Speaker 5: he's going to be the guy on the practice field
- 22:16Speaker 5: all week getting the reps and the coach just said
- 22:18Speaker 5: that that's important, right, timing and accuracy and all those things.
- 22:23Speaker 1: What I mean, I don't know.
- 22:26Speaker 5: It's there's so much at stake you have to do it.
- 22:29Speaker 5: But you know, I was the guy last week who asked, Doug,
- 22:31Speaker 5: are you sure you don't want to give this, you know,
- 22:33Speaker 5: to just name C. J. Bethord your starter. I just
- 22:37Speaker 5: didn't see where a guy who missed all week of
- 22:40Speaker 5: practice with a concussion made sense to play. That's a
- 22:44Speaker 5: low hanging fruit. Now it's easy to look back, although
- 22:46Speaker 5: I did ask the question last week. Now I guess
- 22:48Speaker 5: as long as I'm told that that he's not going
- 22:52Speaker 5: to significantly injure it. All right, let's go. Let's see
- 22:55Speaker 5: what you can do.
- 22:56Speaker 2: We'll hear from Trevor Lawrence a little bit later today
- 22:58Speaker 2: and we'll also see if he practice today, So that'll
- 23:00Speaker 2: give us a little more insight as we look forward
- 23:03Speaker 2: to the rest of the week.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Stay with us here on Jagsam Jags fans.

- 23:40Speaker 7: I mean, it's him not over and that's the thing.
- 23:43Speaker 7: Own it, feel it. I'm hurting.
- 23:46Speaker 1: I'm hurting.
- 23:47Speaker 7: You had tomorrow's Christmas and I love my family, we'll
- 23:51Speaker 7: have a good time, but you know this hurts. I'm
- 23:54Speaker 7: gonna be watching film on what I need to do better,
- 23:58Speaker 7: and if there's a game or it was something that
- 24:01Speaker 7: they did different, then I'm gonna be attack like that
- 24:04Speaker 7: something me. I got to own that. Get better.
- 24:06Speaker 1: Move on.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Josh Allenson, he's watching film on Christmas, said it wasn't
- 24:12Speaker 2: his best performance. And when he says other people need
- 24:14Speaker 2: to be accountable, he had to hold himself accountable.
- 24:16Speaker 1: That's certainly what you want to hear.
- 24:17Speaker 2: And Josh is one of the people that isn't shy
- 24:20Speaker 2: from being honest about those sorts of things. So that's
- 24:22Speaker 2: good leadership on the defensive side of the ball. But
- 24:25Speaker 2: it's got to come for more people than just your captains, right,
- 24:28Speaker 2: It's got to be everybody you know.
- 24:29Speaker 5: At eight and three it looked like this was going
- 24:31Speaker 5: to be a team to contend with. And you could
- 24:33Speaker 5: talk about injuries and we certainly have and that that's
- 24:36Speaker 5: cost them. But at this point, John, based on the
- 24:40Speaker 5: performance last Sunday, it's about a couple of guys who
- 24:43Speaker 5: aren't injured stepping up and leading the way by making plays.
- 24:48Speaker 5: Josh is certainly one of those guys. There are others,
- 24:51Speaker 5: you know, Calvin Ridley is a guy. Evan Ingram, right,
- 24:53Speaker 5: there is a guy. You got to make all those
- 24:57Speaker 5: plays if you're going to be the Panthers on Sunday.
- 25:01Speaker 6: Yeah, Doug, after the game, I talked a little bit
- 25:05Speaker 6: about pride of not committing these turnovers, of doing it,
- 25:11Speaker 6: attention to attention to detail, all these things. I think
- 25:15Speaker 6: it's a look in the mirror week, you know, I
- 25:18Speaker 6: I s feel a way about this team. They should
- 25:20Speaker 6: beat the Panthers. You're playing at home, everything's on the line.
- 25:23Speaker 6: You have something to play for. The adage in the
- 25:26Speaker 6: NFL usually is if a team's got something to play for,
- 25:28Speaker 6: another team doesn't. The team has something to play for wins.
- 25:32Speaker 6: But if you're playing like you did last Sunday, you're
- 25:35Speaker 6: not gonna win, right, So you know. I know we
- 25:38Speaker 6: have a show to do tomorrow, and I'll sit here
- 25:39Speaker 6: and try to analyze it. I don't have that much
- 25:41Speaker 6: more to say about this team until I see him
- 25:43Speaker 6: go out and play with more urgency than they did
- 25:46Speaker 6: in Tampa.
- 25:47Speaker 5: Look at the mirror is a great way to describe it.
- 25:48Speaker 5: Another ways, poking the chest, you know, I mean to
- 25:50Speaker 5: be able to say to the guy next to you, Hey,
- 25:52Speaker 5: you got to play better this week. Do you understand
- 25:54Speaker 5: what's on the line this week? And I'm sure Doug
- 25:57Speaker 5: will lay out the playoffs and narrows for them and
- 25:59Speaker 5: the important this game. I referenced earlier, we've seen a
- 26:02Speaker 5: team with an interim coach and a rookie quarterback. We
- 26:05Speaker 5: watched the Jaguars with Darryl Bevell and Trevor Lawrence again
- 26:12Speaker 5: beat the Colts. I was remember him going. I guess
- 26:16Speaker 5: apparently the story afterwards was he was poking guys in
- 26:18Speaker 5: the chest in the locker room saying we're gonna play well,
- 26:20Speaker 5: We're not gonna just lay down. And they did. They
- 26:23Speaker 5: beat a Colts team that just had to win to
- 26:25Speaker 5: get into the playoffs, and then that Colts team didn't
- 26:28Speaker 5: recover the next year. Things just went out of control
- 26:31Speaker 5: for them. You don't want that to be a scenario
- 26:35Speaker 5: where you lose to a two win Panthers team and
- 26:37Speaker 5: find yourself outside of the playoffs and then go on
- 26:40Speaker 5: the road and have to play a Tennessee team that
- 26:42Speaker 5: you know will be ready to go with Mike Rabel.
- 26:45Speaker 5: You don't want that. That could be very bad. So
- 26:48Speaker 5: what you want to do is have everybody in the
- 26:50Speaker 5: locker room looking at themselves and then saying to the
- 26:52Speaker 5: guy next to them, I'm doing this. What are you
- 26:54Speaker 5: doing this week? This is not an opportunity for us
- 26:57Speaker 5: to do anything and go play our best football and win.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Opportunity, opportunity to prove who you are.
- 27:02Speaker 2: And certainly they'll need their best effort after the last
- 27:05Speaker 2: four losses in a row tomorrow and jagsam will go
- 27:08Speaker 2: over uh that fully that matchup against the Panthers this weekend.
- 27:11Speaker 1: We'll see you tomorrow morning.
