Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, welcome to another Radio Archive Hour here on the
- 0:02Speaker 1: world-famous Phil Henry Show. This is from January of 2000.
- 0:05Speaker 1: We love that month. We love that year. And it
- 0:08Speaker 1: is Lloyd Bonafide, a heating and plumbing guy from Alhambra, California,
- 0:11Speaker 1: a Korean War veteran, and a very, very opinionated dude
- 0:14Speaker 1: who at one time sang something like, Don't Step on
- 0:18Speaker 1: My Blue Suede Shoes, as he was auditioning for American
- 0:21Speaker 1: Idol or something, I don't know what, and wound up
- 0:24Speaker 1: beating people up with his guitar. At least he beat
- 0:27Speaker 1: up one person that was heckling.
- 0:28Speaker 2: Him with his guitar.
- 0:29Speaker 1: It's Lloyd, it's Alhambra, it's heating and plumbing. Man, it's California.
- 0:35Speaker 1: We'll go to Alhambra on the Phil Hendry.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Take this call here. Let me take the call on Alhambra. Alhambra, hi,
- 0:41Speaker 2: how you doing, sir?
- 0:42Speaker 3: Yes, sir, how are you?
- 0:44Speaker 2: Good.
- 0:46Speaker 4: Hello?
- 0:47Speaker 2: Yes, sir, I'm right here.
- 0:49Speaker 3: Yes, Mr. Hendry, I'm listening to your program, and I'm
- 0:54Speaker 3: hearing you talking about how... Wonderful it is in Southern California.
- 1:00Speaker 3: I'm calling from the Los Angeles area right now, and
- 1:05Speaker 3: I believe you do a disservice, sir, to a lot
- 1:08Speaker 3: of us who live here and have put down roots here.
- 1:12Speaker 2: How so, sir?
- 1:14Speaker 3: Well, sir, if I could finish my thought, because when
- 1:17Speaker 3: you talk about the wonderful weather that we have in
- 1:21Speaker 3: Southern California, sir... You are automatically encouraging, I think, a
- 1:29Speaker 3: lot of the people.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Could you turn your radio down?
- 1:32Speaker 3: I'm sorry. Turn the radio down. Turn the radio down.
- 1:37Speaker 3: I think you encourage a lot of these snowbirds to
- 1:41Speaker 3: come out here. We have a home in Palm Desert,
- 1:44Speaker 3: and I meet a lot of these snowbirds that come
- 1:47Speaker 3: from Canada and the back east.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Sir, I was just talking about how the weather was...
- 1:53Speaker 1: You've seen the stories in the newspaper, right?
- 1:55Speaker 3: Sir, I've seen all the stories in the newspaper, and
- 1:57Speaker 3: my wife has relatives in the New York City area.
- 2:01Speaker 3: I'm saying that when you talk about the good weather
- 2:04Speaker 3: in California, you're encouraging these people to move out here.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Okay, I think you're a little paranoid.
- 2:13Speaker 3: No, I'm not paranoid. Every time there's a Rose Bowl game...
- 2:17Speaker 3: and the people turn on their television sets, and they
- 2:19Speaker 3: see how the beautiful weather, and people come out. And
- 2:24Speaker 3: what you've done, in my opinion, is you have... So what.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Are you taking.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Hold on for a minute. What are you taking exception to?
- 2:30Speaker 1: The fact that I'm talking about how we had 80 degrees?
- 2:34Speaker 3: You know... Well, sir, I believe you know what I'm
- 2:36Speaker 3: talking about. You know that they're digging themselves out from
- 2:38Speaker 3: underneath snow back east, and yet you purposefully come on
- 2:43Speaker 3: the airwaves and talk about... the good weather that we're
- 2:49Speaker 3: having in Southern California. And that is my point.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Your point is that I'm going to encourage people to
- 2:56Speaker 1: move out here because.
- 2:58Speaker 3: Every time they show a G.D. Rose Bowl game on
- 3:02Speaker 3: the television.
- 3:04Speaker 1: And I've heard all the stories about every time they
- 3:06Speaker 1: show a Rose Bowl game, look, what are you going
- 3:08Speaker 1: to do? Are you going to keep it a secret?
- 3:10Speaker 1: You know, I was doing it as kind of a joke.
- 3:13Speaker 1: I was talking, hey, I've lived through snow.
- 3:16Speaker 3: I don't think anyone's interested in what you've lived through, sir.
- 3:21Speaker 3: I think what we're interested in is whether or not
- 3:24Speaker 3: you are encouraging a lot of these grapes of wrath stories,
- 3:29Speaker 3: encouraging these transients that come out here.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Well, what do you mean transient?
- 3:35Speaker 3: I mean these people that can't make a job work
- 3:39Speaker 3: somewhere else and they come out to Southern California because
- 3:42Speaker 3: they can't make a job work somewhere else.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Mike, put this guy on hold. He's driving me out
- 3:47Speaker 2: of my mind, okay?
- 3:48Speaker 1: 1-800-449-86... Tell him I'll talk to him.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Just put him on hold. Hey, you know what? Tough.
- 3:56Speaker 1: So I'm talking about how nice the weather is. Hey, man,
- 3:59Speaker 1: I lived through that. I lived in Minnesota. I lived
- 4:01Speaker 1: down there in Atlanta. All that snow... I lived through it.
- 4:05Speaker 1: It's not that I have no feelings in my heart
- 4:07Speaker 1: about it. This guy has got even less feelings about it.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Anyway, 1-800-449-8686. Phil Hendry Show. Phil Henry Show, 1-800-449-8686. Where's
- 4:38Speaker 2: the guy? Let me talk to him here.
- 4:40Speaker 1: So, sir, your problem is that I've got a lot
- 4:44Speaker 1: of people coming out to California.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Is that it?
- 4:46Speaker 3: No, sir. The point that I made to your man
- 4:52Speaker 3: who answered the phone.
- 4:54Speaker 2: To my screener.
- 4:56Speaker 3: Yes, sir, to your screener was... You know, your sarcasm, sir, is... No, when.
- 5:02Speaker 2: You got on the phone with me, you already had
- 5:03Speaker 2: a chip on your shoulder, you know?
- 5:05Speaker 3: I didn't have a chip on my shoulder. What I've
- 5:07Speaker 3: got is a distinct distaste for you people who caused
- 5:12Speaker 3: all of these transients to come here from God knows where.
- 5:17Speaker 3: You know, the California, we've got an overpopulation problem.
- 5:22Speaker 2: You know something?
- 5:23Speaker 1: I disagree with you because I live in this town,
- 5:25Speaker 1: and I'm not going to get into a whole discussion
- 5:27Speaker 1: about why it's great to live here, but the fact
- 5:28Speaker 1: is the town's spreading out.
- 5:30Speaker 2: It's all over the freaking place.
- 5:31Speaker 1: We've got no overpopulation problem.
- 5:34Speaker 2: They're building houses everywhere, okay?
- 5:36Speaker 3: They're cutting into the hillsides and they're absolutely destroying a
- 5:43Speaker 3: lot of what used to be some of our wetland
- 5:45Speaker 3: and some of our conservatory areas. And when you open
- 5:49Speaker 3: your mouth and say, you know how wonderful it is,
- 5:54Speaker 3: all of these people are going to come out here.
- 5:57Speaker 1: And by the way, you ought to get a new phone, okay?
- 5:59Speaker 1: You ought to get a new phone. Here is, you
- 6:01Speaker 1: know what I'm talking about? Here is Rock Hill on
- 6:04Speaker 1: the Phil Henry Show. Hello. Hi.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Yes, ma'am.
- 6:09Speaker 5: You couldn't pay me money to move out there because
- 6:11Speaker 5: it's A-degree weather.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Well, I believe you. Is that it?
- 6:17Speaker 5: No, that's insane.
- 6:19Speaker 2: Well, let me just say this to the judge. Did
- 6:20Speaker 2: you hear this, lady?
- 6:21Speaker 3: What, sir?
- 6:22Speaker 2: Say that again, ma'am, to the guy. What is your name?
- 6:25Speaker 3: Well, my name is Lloyd. I've been listening to this radio.
- 6:27Speaker 3: I'm listening to you over KFI in Los Angeles, California.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Okay, that's great. Where are you listening, ma'am?
- 6:35Speaker 5: I'm in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
- 6:37Speaker 2: And you're listening to what station, you know?
- 6:39Speaker 5: I have no clue.
- 6:41Speaker 2: Okay, go right ahead. What is your comment?
- 6:43Speaker 5: I said, you couldn't pay me money to move to
- 6:46Speaker 5: Los Angeles because it's 80-degree weather.
- 6:48Speaker 2: What do you think of that, sir?
- 6:49Speaker 3: Oh, that's, you know, I don't believe her. And I'll
- 6:52Speaker 3: tell you why I don't believe you, ma'am. I would
- 6:54Speaker 3: expect you to say that.
- 6:56Speaker 6: Oh, really?
- 6:57Speaker 3: I would expect you to say that because if you
- 7:00Speaker 3: pin somebody down, what do you expect they're going to do?
- 7:03Speaker 2: So, in other words, she's saying she won't move out
- 7:06Speaker 2: here because she, because what?
- 7:08Speaker 3: Reverse psychology.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Okay, are you there? Are you gone?
- 7:13Speaker 5: I'm here.
- 7:13Speaker 2: Okay, is that it?
- 7:15Speaker 5: I think that's insane. Reverse psychology.
- 7:17Speaker 3: Reverse psychology. Because naturally you're going to say you don't
- 7:20Speaker 3: want to move out here when in fact you do
- 7:22Speaker 3: because you don't want me thinking that you do.
- 7:26Speaker 6: Right?
- 7:27Speaker 7: Whatever.
- 7:27Speaker 5: I don't think you're all there.
- 7:29Speaker 3: What does that mean, whatever? Whatever. Now listen to me.
- 7:32Speaker 3: I'm saying to you, if I said to you, you
- 7:35Speaker 3: want to move to California because it has 80 degree weather...
- 7:40Speaker 3: And you didn't like me, you'd say, no, I don't,
- 7:43Speaker 3: even though you did.
- 7:44Speaker 5: I'm perfectly happy with the weather that we have here.
- 7:48Speaker 3: Well, what's the temperature right now? Where are you, South Carolina?
- 7:51Speaker 5: It is probably 29 degrees right now.
- 7:53Speaker 3: Holy Christ, 29 degrees.
- 7:57Speaker 5: Yes, and I love every minute of it.
- 7:59Speaker 3: You're crapping ice cubes. And the whole night.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Sir, you're talking to a lady, okay?
- 8:04Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 8:05Speaker 5: Treat me like a lady, not like some kind of.
- 8:07Speaker 3: Forgive me, but I'm saying there's 29 degrees. You know,
- 8:12Speaker 3: when you get up in the morning and you... Seriously,
- 8:15Speaker 3: you're crapping ice cubes. I don't know how else to
- 8:17Speaker 3: put it.
- 8:18Speaker 2: You can say she's digging her car out of the snow.
- 8:20Speaker 2: How about that?
- 8:21Speaker 3: All right, are you digging your car out of the snow?
- 8:24Speaker 5: Actually, I haven't. In the past couple of days, I haven't.
- 8:27Speaker 5: I mean, it doesn't matter. I mean, you couldn't, I mean,
- 8:29Speaker 5: we're like way off the subject here. You said about
- 8:32Speaker 5: moving to Southern California because it's 80 degree weather.
- 8:36Speaker 6: Cold weather doesn't bother me.
- 8:38Speaker 3: The weather out here, Mr. Henry opened his mouth, so
- 8:41Speaker 3: I might as well go all the way. It was,
- 8:44Speaker 3: I was at the beach today.
- 8:45Speaker 1: No, you weren't at the beach today. Nobody, it wasn't
- 8:48Speaker 1: that cold. Well, I guess maybe it.
- 8:50Speaker 3: Yeah, you better believe it was beautiful.
- 8:53Speaker 2: All right, well, if you don't want me saying it,
- 8:54Speaker 2: why are you saying it?
- 8:56Speaker 3: Well, she's telling me she likes 29-degree weather.
- 8:59Speaker 5: Hey, it don't bother me. I work outside, and it
- 9:01Speaker 5: does not bother me one bit.
- 9:03Speaker 3: What do you do for a living?
- 9:04Speaker 5: I'm a courier.
- 9:07Speaker 3: You make what?
- 9:08Speaker 5: I'm a courier.
- 9:10Speaker 3: Oh, so you're delivering mail and such?
- 9:13Speaker 5: Not mail. Well, mail in a sense.
- 9:15Speaker 3: So you're driving around out in that stuff?
- 9:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:18Speaker 3: Colder than a witch's boob, ain't it?
- 9:21Speaker 5: It's cold, but it doesn't bother me.
- 9:23Speaker 3: Well, how could you say it doesn't bother you, for
- 9:26Speaker 3: God's sake, when your eyelids are stuck together? You know,
- 9:30Speaker 3: when I was in the Army, I was stationed up north,
- 9:33Speaker 3: and you could feel the snot in your nose freeze.
- 9:38Speaker 3: That's true, Mr. Andrew. You could feel the stuff.
- 9:40Speaker 2: That's great. You know, I lived in Minneapolis. Jesus.
- 9:43Speaker 1: I lived in Minneapolis for a year, which is in Minnesota,
- 9:45Speaker 1: if you don't know where that is.
- 9:47Speaker 3: Yes, sir, I do. You don't have to be sarcastic.
- 9:49Speaker 1: I'm not being sarcastic. I'm saying it's really far north.
- 9:52Speaker 1: It's further north than Rock Hill, South Carolina. And your
- 9:56Speaker 1: tears would freeze. The hairs in your nose would freeze up.
- 10:01Speaker 1: You couldn't get warm. In fact, the metal was so
- 10:03Speaker 1: cold on my steering wheel that it would sting. You
- 10:05Speaker 1: ever touched really cold metal? It like sucks all the
- 10:08Speaker 1: heat right out of your finger until it stings.
- 10:11Speaker 3: And there you are on the radio telling this impressionable
- 10:15Speaker 3: young woman everything about the movie stars that lay in
- 10:18Speaker 3: on the beach. This young woman from Rock Hill, South Carolina,
- 10:22Speaker 3: who you could get her, you know, you could get
- 10:25Speaker 3: her to do anything.
- 10:27Speaker 6: Doubtful.
- 10:27Speaker 5: I'm a very strong-willed person. You can't tell me to
- 10:30Speaker 5: do anything. You can't brainwash me to do anything.
- 10:33Speaker 3: I do what I want, when I want, however I.
- 10:36Speaker 5: Want to do it. Don't talk to me like I'm
- 10:38Speaker 5: a child.
- 10:39Speaker 3: What if I invited you to a condominium in Palm
- 10:43Speaker 3: Springs for cocktails?
- 10:46Speaker 5: No, thank you.
- 10:47Speaker 3: Oh, you've got to be putting me on.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Wait a second.
- 10:51Speaker 6: I'm not insane. I'm sorry.
- 10:52Speaker 2: I'm not.
- 10:53Speaker 3: That's insanity? Having a Benini next to the pool in
- 10:58Speaker 3: Palm Springs? No, thank you. Huh?
- 11:02Speaker 5: No, thank you.
- 11:03Speaker 3: Jesus H.
- 11:05Speaker 1: I was the guy that you didn't want opening his
- 11:07Speaker 1: mouth about California, and now you're talking about having Beninis
- 11:10Speaker 1: by a pool in Palm Springs.
- 11:12Speaker 3: Well, I'm just not buying this young lady's line of reasoning.
- 11:16Speaker 5: Hey, guess what? You don't have to. But, I mean,
- 11:19Speaker 5: I'm probably almost, I'm sure that I speak for a
- 11:22Speaker 5: lot of people that you're full of.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Do.
- 11:26Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 11:26Speaker 2: All right, ma'am.
- 11:27Speaker 1: Thank you very much. And, you know, it'll warm up.
- 11:29Speaker 1: And that's a nice part of the country, too. I
- 11:31Speaker 1: lived there for a long time as well.
- 11:33Speaker 6: Oh, I love it.
- 11:33Speaker 4: It's great.
- 11:34Speaker 2: Thank you very much.
- 11:34Speaker 3: Carolina's are great.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Thank you very much, ma'am.
- 11:36Speaker 5: Have a good one.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Bye-bye.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Okay, there you go. Where's that clown?
- 11:42Speaker 8: 1-800-IZZY.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Put him on hold, will you, Mike?
- 11:45Speaker 1: First he's telling me that I shouldn't open my mouth.
- 11:47Speaker 1: Now he's talking about, and what is a Benini? By
- 11:52Speaker 1: a pool in Palm Springs. What am I, Desi Arnaz? Anyway,
- 11:56Speaker 1: Phil Henry Show, 1-800-449-8686. Phil Henry Show, 1-800-449-8686.
- 12:13Speaker 2: 1-800-449-8686.
- 12:13Speaker 1: And what happened.
- 12:16Speaker 2: To our phone line here? Oh, I'm on number two.
- 12:19Speaker 2: I'm sorry. Let me get the guy back on.
- 12:23Speaker 1: I don't even know why I'm talking to you, sir,
- 12:25Speaker 1: but you're kind of an interesting guy.
- 12:27Speaker 3: I say?
- 12:28Speaker 1: I said I don't know why it is I'm talking
- 12:30Speaker 1: to you, but you're kind of an interesting guy.
- 12:32Speaker 3: Well, the reason why you're talking to me, sir, is
- 12:35Speaker 3: because I was driving home with my wife....
- 12:40Speaker 2: Can you move closer to the base, wherever it is
- 12:42Speaker 2: you're talking from?
- 12:43Speaker 3: Yes, sir. I was driving home from the Baker Square
- 12:48Speaker 3: with my wife.
- 12:49Speaker 2: Oh, you had dinner at Baker Square, huh?
- 12:51Speaker 3: Yes, sir, I did. And we heard... So I suppose
- 12:56Speaker 3: that's sarcasm, too. Is that it?
- 12:59Speaker 2: No, I just asked. You were having dinner at Baker Square, right?
- 13:02Speaker 3: Yes, sir. And.
- 13:05Speaker 3: I heard your comment about it's 80 degrees in California
- 13:09Speaker 3: and it's so great here. And every time some guy
- 13:13Speaker 3: like you opens his mouth, you get all these grapes
- 13:17Speaker 3: of wrath stories, every transient, everybody hopping a freight train
- 13:23Speaker 3: to come to California. And I resent it, sir. I
- 13:26Speaker 3: resent it deeply.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Well, I don't think... I think you're overreacting. I think
- 13:30Speaker 1: you're paranoid. I think that's the way Californians think. I
- 13:32Speaker 1: don't think that's the way the rest of the country thinks.
- 13:34Speaker 2: I'm sorry. Here's East Haven on the Phil Henry Show. Hello?
- 13:37Speaker 6: Hello?
- 13:38Speaker 3: Yes.
- 13:38Speaker 6: Yeah, that guy Lloyd, he's doing a good job making
- 13:41Speaker 6: people not want to move to California.
- 13:43Speaker 3: I beg your pardon?
- 13:44Speaker 6: Hey, Lloyd, you're doing a good job getting your point across.
- 13:47Speaker 6: I'll tell you what. If anybody would want to move
- 13:49Speaker 6: to California, I'll tell you they won't.
- 13:51Speaker 3: Well, good. Well, that's good. That's good, then. You're doing
- 13:54Speaker 3: your job. Yeah, good. Then you stay the hell away.
- 13:58Speaker 6: I will, with old seniles like you running around the
- 14:01Speaker 6: streets of California.
- 14:02Speaker 3: You know something, sir? I came out here in 1955
- 14:08Speaker 3: after the Korean War. I fought for my country in Korea,
- 14:12Speaker 3: and I raised a family out here. And if it
- 14:16Speaker 3: wasn't for me, you wouldn't be out there, you know,
- 14:19Speaker 3: doing your drugs or whatever.
- 14:21Speaker 1: Oh, you're making assumptions like that.
- 14:24Speaker 3: Well, you know, I fought for this country. Did you?
- 14:28Speaker 6: Actually, no.
- 14:29Speaker 3: Yeah, I didn't think I could tell when I first
- 14:31Speaker 3: heard your voice.
- 14:32Speaker 6: I think the overseas got to you, the Korean era
- 14:38Speaker 6: or whatever. Got to your head.
- 14:40Speaker 3: Got to my head. I live out here in beautiful California.
- 14:45Speaker 3: And I'm not digging my ass out of snow tonight.
- 14:48Speaker 6: What did the United States pay for your retirement home
- 14:52Speaker 6: down there?
- 14:53Speaker 3: The GI Bill. The GI Bill.
- 14:55Speaker 6: The GI Bill was something like that. They wanted to
- 14:57Speaker 6: get you the hell away from wherever they were.
- 14:59Speaker 3: Just because you're too stupid to move where the weather's nice,
- 15:04Speaker 3: don't come crying to me.
- 15:06Speaker 6: Don't come crying. You'd probably die if you lived anywhere else.
- 15:10Speaker 3: Don't come crying to me.
- 15:12Speaker 6: You'd probably die. You'd probably have a heart attack if
- 15:14Speaker 6: you lived anywhere else.
- 15:16Speaker 3: Say it again.
- 15:16Speaker 6: Any other kind of weather.
- 15:17Speaker 3: Say that again.
- 15:18Speaker 6: Any other kind of weather. You'd probably have a heart
- 15:20Speaker 6: attack and croak.
- 15:21Speaker 3: You know what I think?
- 15:23Speaker 6: What's that?
- 15:24Speaker 3: I think you're just too G.D. stupid to live anywhere
- 15:27Speaker 3: where there's not snow falling.
- 15:30Speaker 6: I'll tell you what.
- 15:31Speaker 3: I love the snow. What's that?
- 15:33Speaker 6: It's beautiful, the snow.
- 15:35Speaker 3: I'm sorry, what'd you say?
- 15:36Speaker 6: It's beautiful, the snow. When you were a kid, did
- 15:38Speaker 6: you ever see snow? Did you ever play in the snow?
- 15:42Speaker 3: Did I ever play in the snow? When I was
- 15:44Speaker 3: a kid, I was born in Bloomington, Indiana. I couldn't
- 15:47Speaker 3: wait to shag my ass out of there. Are you
- 15:49Speaker 3: putting me on? I'll tell you what, I loved the
- 15:52Speaker 3: snow when I was little. Yeah, I'll bet you did. Well,
- 15:56Speaker 3: they should have deep froze your rear end.
- 15:58Speaker 2: Okay, all right, all right, okay, okay, great. Thanks, guys. 1-800-449-8686.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Here is New Haven on the Phil Henry Show. Is
- 16:07Speaker 2: New Haven the same as East Haven, ma'am?
- 16:10Speaker 7: Close to it.
- 16:11Speaker 2: Oh, okay. So we have a couple of calls from
- 16:13Speaker 2: the same neck of the woods.
- 16:14Speaker 3: I'll bet you it's freezing cold there, and that's why
- 16:16Speaker 3: I get so many calls from there. I bet. You
- 16:19Speaker 3: know what?
- 16:19Speaker 7: You gave me a million dollars. I would not go
- 16:21Speaker 7: to California. For all the earthquakes, if someone paid me,
- 16:24Speaker 7: I would not live in California. Listen to how— Plus,
- 16:26Speaker 7: my family lives here.
- 16:27Speaker 3: Right.
- 16:27Speaker 7: It's not that great in California.
- 16:29Speaker 3: Well, have you ever been out here and gone to Disneyland?
- 16:31Speaker 2: No.
- 16:33Speaker 7: Maybe for vacation. I would not want to live over there.
- 16:37Speaker 3: You've got a cold, don't you? Your nose is all
- 16:39Speaker 3: stuffed up.
- 16:40Speaker 7: I don't have a cold. I'm perfectly fine.
- 16:42Speaker 3: You're what?
- 16:43Speaker 7: I'm perfectly fine. Well, I would take this weather any day.
- 16:46Speaker 1: I think what we're hearing here, yeah, we're hearing people
- 16:48Speaker 1: are very proud of where they live.
- 16:49Speaker 2: That's right.
- 16:50Speaker 7: And I would never move to California.
- 16:52Speaker 3: Of course.
- 16:53Speaker 1: I remember living in the snow country as I did.
- 16:55Speaker 1: The people up there loved it. They did cross-country skiing.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Do you do any ice fishing there?
- 17:01Speaker 3: Oh, quit trying to get the favor of your listeners.
- 17:05Speaker 3: You make me sick.
- 17:06Speaker 7: Listen, I'd rather live in four different seasons. We enjoy
- 17:08Speaker 7: the winter. The summer, the spring, and the fall, which
- 17:11Speaker 7: you do not have in California.
- 17:12Speaker 3: How do you know? Have you ever been out here?
- 17:14Speaker 7: I have friends who used to live in California. And
- 17:17Speaker 7: obviously they moved back up east.
- 17:20Speaker 3: Did you ever go to Knott's Berry Farm or anything
- 17:22Speaker 3: like that?
- 17:24Speaker 7: No, I haven't. So what's that relevant to Knott's Berry Farm?
- 17:27Speaker 3: You don't know how good it can get.
- 17:30Speaker 7: You just told me that I should have moved over
- 17:32Speaker 7: to California. Now you want to encourage me to go
- 17:35Speaker 7: to California? You just told me not to go to California.
- 17:37Speaker 3: The point I was making is that the radio host
- 17:40Speaker 3: was on here talking about 80-degree weather, and I said,
- 17:43Speaker 3: you stupid SOB, now you're going to get all these
- 17:47Speaker 3: asses moving out here.
- 17:49Speaker 7: Well, obviously you didn't get everybody because you say, I
- 17:52Speaker 7: don't want to go to California.
- 17:53Speaker 3: Oh, you're just saying that.
- 17:55Speaker 7: How do you know you're a mind reader?
- 17:56Speaker 3: Well, because it's reverse psychology.
- 17:59Speaker 7: It's not reverse psychology. Have you taken a psychology class?
- 18:02Speaker 3: No, but I read a Reader's Digest.
- 18:05Speaker 7: I don't think Reader's Digest is up to that. I'm
- 18:07Speaker 7: going for my bachelor's, to my master's degree. I don't
- 18:09Speaker 7: think you know about reverse psychology.
- 18:11Speaker 3: What have you got shoved in your nose is the
- 18:13Speaker 3: only answer I need. What is that?
- 18:14Speaker 7: Because you don't have any education, obviously, a background. Is
- 18:17Speaker 7: that the only answer you do, insult people?
- 18:19Speaker 3: Well, no, ma'am. I swear to God, it sounds like
- 18:21Speaker 3: you've got something packed up in you.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Well, you forget about the lady's nose, okay, whether she's
- 18:25Speaker 1: got a cold or not.
- 18:28Speaker 7: But you can't think of any good more comments than
- 18:29Speaker 7: they can make about my nose.
- 18:31Speaker 3: I said to the host of the radio broadcast— By.
- 18:34Speaker 2: The way, my name is Phil Hendry.
- 18:36Speaker 3: I'm sorry?
- 18:37Speaker 2: My name is Phil Hendry, okay?
- 18:39Speaker 3: Hi, Mr. Hendry. I said to you that when you
- 18:42Speaker 3: were out there crowing about the great weather— All these
- 18:47Speaker 3: asses would move here.
- 18:48Speaker 7: Excuse me, I'm not one of them, okay? Did you
- 18:50Speaker 7: see me say I want to come to your state?
- 18:52Speaker 7: Like I told you, I want to come to your
- 18:54Speaker 7: state if you paid me to come to your state.
- 18:58Speaker 3: Even if I paid you?
- 18:59Speaker 7: That's right. I don't want to live there.
- 19:00Speaker 3: All right. I will pay you $ 500, 000 to move here.
- 19:01Speaker 8: Fine.
- 19:01Speaker 3: I won't be coming.
- 19:02Speaker 8: What?
- 19:07Speaker 7: You heard me. I wouldn't be coming.
- 19:08Speaker 3: Oh, you're so full of crap.
- 19:10Speaker 2: What are you trying to do? Do you want people
- 19:12Speaker 2: to move here?
- 19:12Speaker 7: Obviously, he does now. But you want people to come there.
- 19:15Speaker 7: You encourage us to come there. Now you're telling us
- 19:17Speaker 7: the state is beautiful to live there.
- 19:18Speaker 3: I think you ought to move here. You know why?
- 19:20Speaker 7: Oh, now you're encouraging me to move there. Five minutes ago,
- 19:23Speaker 7: you told us that we shouldn't be moving to California.
- 19:25Speaker 3: I changed my mind. You know why I think you
- 19:27Speaker 3: ought to move here? Because it'll clear up your sinus infection.
- 19:30Speaker 7: I don't have a sinus infection. Is that so you
- 19:32Speaker 7: can't think of any more comments? You're talking about my health?
- 19:35Speaker 2: What is the problem, okay?
- 19:36Speaker 3: The young lady sounds like her nose is jammed up,
- 19:38Speaker 3: that's all.
- 19:39Speaker 1: Well, you, sir, to be perfectly honest, and I don't
- 19:41Speaker 1: mean to be offensive, you sound like you've got a.
- 19:44Speaker 3: A.
- 19:45Speaker 7: Disorder. And I think it's better for your energy. You
- 19:49Speaker 7: need to go back to sleep. and get a better education.
- 19:52Speaker 3: I'll take that from a woman, but I won't take
- 19:53Speaker 3: it from a man. What were you going to say, Mr. Henry?
- 19:56Speaker 2: I was going to say that it sounds to me
- 19:58Speaker 2: like you're senile.
- 20:00Speaker 3: All right, that does it.
- 20:01Speaker 7: I agree with that.
- 20:03Speaker 3: You know, I happen to live in Los Angeles, which
- 20:05Speaker 3: means I know where you're broadcasting from, which means I
- 20:07Speaker 3: could come over there right now.
- 20:10Speaker 2: Well, come on over, pal.
- 20:12Speaker 3: Okay.
- 20:14Speaker 7: Hello?
- 20:15Speaker 2: Oh, get a load of that. The guy.
- 20:16Speaker 7: He hung up.
- 20:17Speaker 2: He hung up. Is he on his way over?
- 20:18Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 20:19Speaker 2: I guess he's on his way over.
- 20:20Speaker 7: He's absolutely crazy. I had to call because I heard
- 20:23Speaker 7: how he was talking. He's absolutely nuts.
- 20:25Speaker 2: And how are you doing in school, dear? You're taking psychology?
- 20:28Speaker 7: No, I'm actually a business major.
- 20:30Speaker 2: A business major. Where are you going to school?
- 20:31Speaker 7: In Alberta.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Out of sight. Thanks for calling our show tonight.
- 20:35Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 20:36Speaker 2: Okay, bye-bye.
- 20:36Speaker 3: Bye-bye.
- 20:37Speaker 2: Is that guy coming over here? Wow. Unbelievable. Hello? Hello?
- 20:50Speaker 2: Is he there? No. No, he's not there. All right. Well, we'll, uh,
- 20:59Speaker 2: that's good as far as I'm concerned.
- 21:01Speaker 1: So what you have to do now is I guess
- 21:02Speaker 1: you have to let, uh, You know, let the guys
- 21:06Speaker 1: down security know downstairs that some far-out old man is
- 21:08Speaker 1: going to be on his way over here to kick
- 21:10Speaker 1: my rear end. Because I said, what did I say
- 21:12Speaker 1: to him? I forget what I said. I thought he
- 21:17Speaker 1: sounded senile. That's what I said. Hickory on the Phil
- 21:20Speaker 1: Hendry Show.
- 21:21Speaker 2: Hello. Hickory.
- 21:23Speaker 3: Hey, Phil.
- 21:24Speaker 2: How are you?
- 21:25Speaker 8: Hey, well, you in for it now?
- 21:27Speaker 2: I am.
- 21:29Speaker 8: He's on his way.
- 21:32Speaker 2: Yes, he.
- 21:34Speaker 8: Is.
- 21:34Speaker 6: You know.
- 21:35Speaker 8: Yeah, I could see his point and everything, but, you know,
- 21:37Speaker 8: people are different, you know. Some people like mustard and
- 21:40Speaker 8: some people don't. Some people like mayonnaise. I, myself, I
- 21:43Speaker 8: like four seasons.
- 21:45Speaker 3: You know.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:47Speaker 8: Hanging around the pool for three months, that's long enough
- 21:50Speaker 8: for me. I'm ready to move on, you know, and
- 21:52Speaker 8: then things kind of cool.
- 21:54Speaker 2: Oh, is this guy back? Wait a minute. This guy's
- 21:57Speaker 2: back now. Hold on for a minute. The guy's back.
- 21:59Speaker 2: Wait a minute. Are you there?
- 22:01Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm right here. I'm not going to waste my time.
- 22:06Speaker 3: Who's that? Who are you? Hello?
- 22:13Speaker 2: All right. 1-800-449-8686. What do you want?
- 22:17Speaker 3: I'm not going to waste my time.
- 22:19Speaker 2: Not going to waste your time kicking my ass? Is
- 22:20Speaker 2: that it? Here is Princeton on the Phil Henry Show.
- 22:23Speaker 3: You know, you've got to watch what you say to people. Yeah, hi.
- 22:26Speaker 8: Yes, sir.
- 22:27Speaker 4: I just wanted to comment about this gentleman. I have
- 22:31Speaker 4: My in-laws are in Fullerton there, so I get to
- 22:34Speaker 4: go out and visit California quite often.
- 22:38Speaker 3: Well, then you know how good it can be.
- 22:42Speaker 4: It's about 10 degrees here, and I was driving today.
- 22:46Speaker 4: It was a beautiful blue sky, sunshine. And the pine
- 22:50Speaker 4: trees were covered with snow.
- 22:51Speaker 3: Yeah, and you got icicles for dingleberries, don't you?
- 22:55Speaker 4: It's God's country. I'll tell you, it's absolutely beautiful there, sir.
- 23:00Speaker 3: And spread your cheeks and you're dropping icicles, right?
- 23:03Speaker 2: Why do you have to be crude? So in other words,
- 23:06Speaker 2: what you're going to do is you're going to be
- 23:07Speaker 2: crude if you can't.
- 23:08Speaker 3: I heard you encouraging people to move to California, and
- 23:11Speaker 3: everything that I could do to keep them out of here,
- 23:14Speaker 3: I will.
- 23:16Speaker 4: Sir, you have to understand, there are some people who
- 23:19Speaker 4: just don't want to live in California.
- 23:21Speaker 3: Well, yeah, I've talked to about five. That's five out
- 23:25Speaker 3: of millions and billions and billions.
- 23:31Speaker 4: If that were the case, I think there would be
- 23:32Speaker 4: a lot more people living there than what there are here.
- 23:35Speaker 3: You know, when you're cramping a popsicle tonight, you be
- 23:39Speaker 3: sure and think of me.
- 23:40Speaker 4: Sir, I certainly will.
- 23:44Speaker 2: Okay, pal.
- 23:46Speaker 1: And thank you very much for your call this evening.
- 23:48Speaker 2: And I know the sun in the snow can be.
- 23:50Speaker 3: Oh, will you quit sucking the rear end of these listeners, Mr. Henry?
- 23:54Speaker 2: I'm not sucking their rear ends.
- 23:55Speaker 3: Well, you know that you're just.
- 23:57Speaker 1: I'm trying to be polite to the people calling in.
- 24:00Speaker 1: If they like to live in the snow, then they
- 24:01Speaker 1: like to live in the snow, all right?
- 24:03Speaker 4: Sir, this is a man with education who understands... that
- 24:08Speaker 4: California is not the only place in the world.
- 24:10Speaker 3: And I can't have a sense of humor. Is that it?
- 24:12Speaker 2: Oh, absolutely.
- 24:14Speaker 4: I'm having fun.
- 24:14Speaker 2: Okay, but I think when you say the guy is
- 24:17Speaker 2: crapping popsicles... Well, it's cold.
- 24:19Speaker 3: For Christ's sake. Tell me I'm lying. Go ahead. Tell
- 24:22Speaker 3: me I'm lying.
- 24:24Speaker 2: It's cold, but he likes it.
- 24:25Speaker 3: Bullcrap.
- 24:26Speaker 6: It's tremendously cold.
- 24:27Speaker 3: I'll tell you.
- 24:28Speaker 2: Be serious for a minute. Do you think he likes
- 24:29Speaker 2: it or not?
- 24:30Speaker 3: Mr. Henry, seriously, I think the man doesn't like it,
- 24:32Speaker 3: and I think they're only... I'm very serious, sir. I
- 24:35Speaker 3: think the only reason why you're saying that is just
- 24:37Speaker 3: because you want to disagree with me. I think if
- 24:42Speaker 3: you had a chance to lay on a beach in
- 24:44Speaker 3: Hawaii or Florida right now, you'd be there.
- 24:47Speaker 4: Sir, I'm going to Jamaica next week for that. The
- 24:50Speaker 4: point is, if I really wanted to live in California
- 24:54Speaker 4: with my relatives in Fullerton there, I could. My fiancé
- 24:59Speaker 4: and I choose to live here because we enjoy it.
- 25:02Speaker 3: And you enjoy crap and cool pops. Is that it?
- 25:04Speaker 6: You know what?
- 25:05Speaker 3: Sometimes it's fun.
- 25:06Speaker 2: All right, sir. Thanks very much.
