Full Spectrum Cycling #274 – JK Reports From Florida – Shannon Visits MKE – Pro’s Closet · Full Spectrum Cycling

0:01
[rock music] Good week, everyone.
0:29
It's Full Spectrum Cycling. I think the thing says it's show 274 over there. 274? Show 274, Podcast MKE Studio. Got Tony in the studio today. Yep. This is water. We don't need that stuff. Who drinks that shit?
0:47
JK is down in Florida this week, on the Atlantic side, [laughs] I'm assuming. Yep. Don't think he would be caught in the old, uh, hurricane zone. Which is pretty rough right now. Yeah. Yeah, I, I... They got hammered.
1:05
I've- I feel bad for those people, but I also really enjoy living in Wisconsin. That's absolutely true. [laughs] Uh, Asheville got hammered.
1:14
That's one of the spots I visited pretty regularly mountain biking back in the olden times, and I have no idea- The-...
1:21
really the layout except that it's in the mountains, and it's on a river, and it's by where they got hammered by the flooding... the second part of the Illuminati is unreachable right now. Is that...
1:32
Is that in the- It's on the island, and they, the bridge is gone, so they can't get to it. In Asheville? In Asheville. Oh, boy. Yep. Okay. That's where the other half of the Illuminati is. That's where- Wow...
1:42
the other team lives. That's quite- Yeah... something. Yeah, that's... I saw a video flyover, and it's a hot mess.
1:49
Not want to be there, I- Global warming isn't real, though, or climate change, whatever you wanna call it. Well, climate change is real. No, it's not. Sure. We didn't do that. Sure it is. Climate's changing all the time.
1:58
Did we do it? Is it our fault that the climate's changing? We're certainly not helping. I'm not sure that the, the climate is... Yeah, I know that we're affecting it.
2:07
That's just one of the goofy arguments people are coming up with, that, "No, no, no, hu-..." Yeah, it's changing, but the humans aren't doing it. Watch what happens when that... Watch that.
2:16
See, now it's red, now it's looking at you. See that? See that? See that? Oh, hi. It's me. Playing with the, uh, the new three-camera setup here. Mm-hmm. Fancy cameras. Actually used this setup for Ken Keene's first
2:28
variety show he did with his buddy the other day. Mm. And, uh, I was doing the behind the scenes. I think that's a lot easier than trying to sit here and- And keep pressing those... go. It's Tony's turn.
2:40
It's Tony's turn. Oh, no, it's Greg's turn. Hey, it's Greg's turn. No, it's Tony turn. No, it's Sven's turn, not Greg. Who's that Greg guy? Who's that Greg guy? Greg guy sits over there. I don't know what's going on.
2:49
So, uh, anyway, um, yeah, show 274. Af- right after show 273 last week, uh, we stopped right next door to Morphic and had a nice visit with Shannon from down Illinois way. Illinois.
3:06
After he picked up his... What the heck was that thing? State bicycle. The Bob Marley clunker. Bob Marley clunker. Good-looking bike. And, uh, had a couple beers at Amorphic and got to visit with Shannon. That was nice.
3:19
Always good to see Shannon. For sure. For sure. What else is going on? Uh... I didn't do any cycling over the weekend. Did you r- you rode today. Let's... It's, uh- Yeah, I rode...
3:31
whatever they call it today, car- Car-free week or something like that... car free, car free week this week, yeah. And, uh, I guess that goes through Sunday.
3:40
Technically, I get the car out of the garage for Molly and put it away for Molly. Nice. So not really car free. Yep.
3:47
I had a s- bunch of stuff to carry around today that the cargo bike wouldn't even do, so I've already blown my car free week, but that's just the way it goes sometimes. Uh, Bender Park. Bender Park.
4:02
Bike- Did we talk about that last week? Bender- We did not... Bender Park bike trail's coming. Uh, it's a nice park, uh, right on the lake.
4:08
It's one of the places where I used to fly model aircraft, uh, from the bluff above the beautiful Lake Michigan. And this is an extension of the Oak Leaf Trail heading south to get closer to connecting it to
4:22
the Racine, Kenosha, kind of southern tier- Yeah... route of, uh, of the Oak Leaf Trail. Sounds like that'll happen next spring sometime, which is, which is nice for Milwaukee. Wait a minute.
4:40
I missed this in the show notes. We got a bike index that worked? What's that? What? What? What? What? I'm- Oh, yeah. Well, there's definitely- Sorry, I'm just looking through the show notes to catch up here...
4:49
yeah, there's definitely some, uh, some success stories. I think we'll get to that in a little bit. Uh, I gotta actually push a button, right? And I'm pushing a button- Whoa... to see what happens when I push- Whoa...
4:58
this here button. What does it do? It says, "Welcome to the radio program, caller. Who's on the line there, hey?" Uh, hello. This is, uh, JK Livin. JK Livin. Longtime listener? [laughs] Yes, indeed.
5:14
The third- Reporting from- Third time caller?... Dus- uh, yeah, I think third time calling in. Spain. As far as I can tell. You've called from Spain or somewhere over there at one point.
5:25
And North Cackalacky once, I think. He might've called from Virginia, too. Uh- Maybe Elka-... Cabo once. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Ca- Cabo once and Virginia and- Fuck, you get around...
5:37
now, now I'm actually in, uh, Hollywood Beach, but close enough. Actually, uh- It's frantic. Weird franticness... on the Call-In Studio web interface, it says you've called in a total of six times. Mm. Last on air- Oh...
5:53
May, May 28th- All right... was your last call in, so it keeps track of all that stuff for us, which is, which is nice for the- Ah... the Call-In Studio statistic people. So you're a six-time caller. Right on.
6:04
How's Flor- Yeah... how's Florida treating you? It's like the Google Maps, uh, timeline that doesn't work anymore. Right. Oh, doesn't it work anymore? It stopped. [laughs] Oh, really?
6:12
Did that- Not as well as it should've... oh, did they discontinue it or is that- No, they, they're reviving it... a little, kinda like the death of... It's like the death of Moves app. Yeah.
6:22
Actually, that was- It was great- I actually liked that app... and then they just got rid of it... yeah. That was a good app back in the- Yeah... olden times. And then it got shitty. Oh, hell. Okay, here we go.
6:32
Getting away from fucking humanity. Christ. Okay. [laughs] How's Flor- how's Florida- There's a lot of human here... treating you down there in the, in the, uh, the Sunshine State, I think they call it?
6:42
Uh, I'm not perishing as much as I thought I would be. I mean, the picture I sent, I was, like, covering myself. I'm, I mean, there is something to be said.
6:52
I will get a male burka kind of deal if it's gonna be 99 degrees like it is down here. See that. Stay out of the sun and, and don't have to deal with [laughs] getting sunburned. I'll find out tomorrow how bad I am. Yeah.
7:09
No ill effects- But so far, so good... no ill effects from the, from the storm? No, nothing yet, no. Hm. No, no, not, not- Wild... that all hit on the, uh, Gulf side. Wild. I mean, there was...
7:21
Yeah, it, it missed this part of the wang. [laughs] America's wang. American wang on this side. Mm. Absolutely. [laughs] Have you, uh- Got okay on that... have you gotten any, any cycling in yet? Uh, uh, yeah.
7:38
The city, they have, like, a, the city bike, kind of a Bublr bike, uh, bike share thing. Uh-huh.
7:44
They have a part of Ocean, uh, Drive cut off, so there's, uh, like, a shitload of, uh, wheelie kids on PK Rippers and shit, which is kind of fun. Nice. [laughs] Get some videos of that.
7:56
Just, like, sitting there heckling like, "Yeah, yeah, come on. Wheelie kids." Nice. So- How about the Cubans?... you know, there's a little touch of... Uh, had one Cubano and it was serviceable. It was good. Oh.
8:10
I got this weird bubbling... It was with a weird bubbling mojito. Oh, so weird. But they have, like, little dry ice pellets or something on the bottom of it that makes it, like, steam and fog up. It's really- Yeah...
8:23
kind of unsettling in a way. Yeah. Yeah. Not sure drinks should boil, boil- But yeah, the Frita, the Frita Cubana.
8:30
I'm getting my, uh, half-beef, half-chorizo sammich with the little shoestring potatoes on it later tonight. Nice. I want a report back on that. So I'll report back on that one, 'cause that one looks damn delicious.
8:44
That sounds fantastic right now. But yeah, ended up at a French place. I rolled the bike down there- Oh... a little French bistro. Oh. Had, uh, a very hearty French onion soup. Mm. And escargots.
8:59
Snails, yeah, snails and onion soup, and coffee. Am I that French? Yes, I am that French. [laughs] You do have a French name. Ha, ha, ha, ha. Yeah, I know. I mean, it's like, I'm, I'm not doing this for effect.
9:14
This is actually part of, baked into my damn DNA, I guess. Right. Right. But yeah, this is gonna be a... I mean, we're, in Hollywood Beach, there, I mean, they have
9:25
pretty well, uh, marked off bike lanes, like, protected in a way that if your car hits a rumble strip, you're not like it at all, so- Interesting... there's a sense of protectivity, which is nice. I'm,
9:43
I'm pleasantly surprised by that. I mean, also they do- Oh... have the little signs that say, "Use the entire lane, or bikes can use the full lane." But you're, it's like being on,
9:55
you know, a state highway, like, on, going down Capitol Drive- Yeah, right... and saying, "Hey, bikes- "And take the whole lane"... can use the whole lane if you want to." But, but why would you want to?
10:05
Until you're dead. [laughs] That... Yeah, I mean, yeah. You know, I, I appreciate that you say that I can, but I don't believe you at all. Right. Yeah, the reality is that you're gonna get runned over.
10:20
Uh, how's it going in, how's it going in fair Milwaukee? How's the weather treating you? It's gorgeous. Good, good. Like, mid-60s. Yeah. Nice little light breeze. Absolutely. Oh. All things considered- Yeah...
10:32
you'll like it when you get back here. Oh, shit, yeah. I, oh my God, yeah. I mean, I am not a sun dude in the least bit, I mean, as that picture represented. I'm just like- It was pretty good...
10:45
hoping I could just, like, cover up as much part of my body as humanly possible. [laughs] And still look like Charlie Brown. And I know I'm still gonna be fucking sunburned. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
10:54
I've gotten a couple cackles about it, so I was like, why not jump in the water with it- Mm-hmm... protect, protect the body. It's the only way. That works out.
11:03
Yeah, th- between this one and the Samsquanch one I got that did arrive in the mail before- Nice... I left, everything is working out nice. Any sharks? Man, no, uh, just I'm drinking Landshark beer, actually. Landshark.
11:18
Is that what you guys drink it down- Aha. See- Oh, oh, we're there. We're, wait- Top of the hill... Greg. Greg- I'm missing something... I, I cleared off the bell from, from the, uh- Oh, shit, we don't got the bell...
11:27
from the kitchen. I think it ding, ding, ding, ding, dings. Ding-a-ling, ding, ding, ding. Ring-a-ding, dingy, dingy, dingy. Since they really don't have hills in Florida, I don't figure we should ring a bell.
11:36
The easiest way would be to find one, right? At least- Unless it's, like, a trash heap maybe. [laughs] We are having my favorite beer of all time right now. Yeah, there, well, there are, like, little baby hills
11:45
within the ocean itself as you walk out there. And the water is, like, fucking bathwater. I mean, not even hyper, like, with hyperbole. You know, normally it's like, ooh, ease yourself into the- Yeah... water.
11:58
It's like, no, no, this is actually just completely lukewarm type of- I-... water... speaking of that- There's no sh- there's no shock value.
12:05
So- Speaking of that, I learned a really fun fact today, or this weekend So our friend Ayla from Shiverwest 24/riverwest24/my- Yeah... coworker, fun lady, is moving to the middle of Texas. Hmm.
12:20
And do you know- No shit, really?... that it is... Yeah, she's gonna set up a farm and do some really interesting stuff, but she told us that the- Soybean... the one thing- Soybean farm... right.
12:30
Sounds like a great idea. Um, she told me the one thing that's absolutely amazing is that in the summer in Texas, you can't take a cold shower. Wait, what? The groundwater doesn't get cold enough to take a cold shower.
12:46
[laughs] I'm like, this is yet another reason not to live in fucking Texas. [laughs] Can't you use like a heat pump- Wow, yeah... or something, reverse, uh- Right...
12:54
get that out of the air and- She's like, "You can get a lukewarm shower if that's what you're interested in." But you cannot take a, quote unquote- I guess that's a... Yeah... "cold shower." Huh.
13:03
'Cause their groundwater is warm. Wow. That's very odd. That's just bizarre to someone that lives in Wisconsin, who in the winter the water's so cold- No, I- Yeah... it, it's almost ice cubes out of the faucet.
13:15
Oh, I love, I love the cold water in the winter- Oh, totally... coming out of the faucet. Totally. Uh, JK, last week you brought- Oh, yeah... you brought in a Rogue's, a R- a Rogue Ales, uh, beer. A Bat, Bat something.
13:27
Bat... Yeah, that Bat Shit Crazy or whatever it's called. Yeah, whatever it was called. So I was doing a little- Bat, Bat Spider. Bat Squatch. Well, I was trying to find some information about it. Bat Squatch. Well-
13:37
Bat Squatch... Ba- Bat Squanch. Yeah. Bat Squatch, yep.
13:40
So I was trying to find some information on the beer for the show notes when I was putting the show together, and, A, the, the brewery wasn't even coming up in the, the, uh, browser.
13:53
[laughs] And there's all this controversy out there about Rogue now for some reason. They're- Huh... "Oh, that place is, uh, whatever, whatever." Oh, right. We'll have to look into that now.
14:02
Well, I mean, 10 years ago they had an issue with, uh, you know, harassment at work kind of stuff, but I, I, I don't know. I always thought their beer was decent. That was founders. Well, I... Who knows?
14:11
They probably did too. Maybe power-tripping, uh, people. That's just what happens when they- Mm-hmm... they get power. I don't know.
14:18
But, uh, yeah, so I was a little surprised, and I couldn't find any actual information on that beer except on, I think Beer Advocate or somebody had it, so- And that was- I, I don't know...
14:28
that was, uh, Portland, wasn't it? Yeah. It was in Oregon. Uh, n- not Portland, Oregon, but Oregon. Or something Ore- Bend. Ben- Well-... Bend, Oregon... all right, it's, it's back now.
14:37
So I don't know what was going on last week, but it was like a good chunk of whatever day it was, Wednesday or Thursday last week, that I was like, "I can't even get to the site. It's not working." Hmm.
14:47
"What's happening? Did they close down?" I guess they didn't close down, 'cause here's Bat Squatch right here, hazy IPA from last week. That was good. But yeah. Uh-huh. And yeah, I don't know.
14:55
I just kind- it was kind of weird that it, it came up that way. So I, so I'm on this boardwalk, and there, there's a, it w- man, there's a Lance on the boardwalk.
15:05
This guy's been like zipping past like four times, like screaming at everybody. Like Lance- Damn Lance Armstrong... Lance Armstrong. Hathley. Yeah. Damn athletes, man. Is he on an electric bike?
15:20
Uh, one guy was, and he was a brat. Yeah. This guy is just, like z- zipping by on a whatever, but I don't know. I'm not gonna be too much of a curmudgeon. That's for our, uh, benevolent hosts.
15:36
[laughs] They're kind of dancing from- Huh, I don't know... they're, they're kind of dancing from like, like self-made or self-generated hectic situation- Oh, yeah... to the next, where there isn't anything.
15:51
It's, it's like, holy shit. No, you don't have to make a deal about anything. They're like, "Well, oh, so what are we gonna do tomorrow?" "Well, I'm gonna just enjoy today first." Yeah.
16:03
[laughs] I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna deal about like answer A to B. Like, "Okay, so what do you wanna do later tonight? What do you wanna do tomorrow? And da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da."
16:11
It's like, shit, no. I'm gonna enjoy the moment, thank you kindly. [laughs] And then the next moment after that. And, uh, I'll get back to you. Right on. Right. Yeah. I mean, yeah.
16:22
I gotta kind of lead by example, you know, at times. Right on. [laughs] I feel, yes. I feel like it's benevolent, or yes. It's on me. It's on me to do this, and the power of the Charlie Brown shirt is
16:39
spreading its wings here- Yeah... you know. That was a good- It works out nicely... that was a good- We're all involved... that was a good photo- Yeah, even the-... of the, uh- Even, even the bums-... Charlie Brown...
16:46
yeah, it was good. It was good. Here, I got, I got the new, uh- Even some of the b- even, even the bums are giving me some good g- [laughs] good shit. Nice. Greg- Got the- Greg's sporting a pretty mean shirt this year...
16:57
like completely sunbl- Yeah, it's a- Nice... it's a Beavis and Butthead/uh, Pulp Fiction m- mishmash. Did you go to Friday Night Freak Show or something? Wow.
17:08
I like your- I did not yet go, 'cause that second weekend for- I did. That was-... second... For the, for the- Reservoir Dogs?... for the Reservoir Dogs. They didn't really have any kind of... MSC didn't really have any
17:23
new to me s- oh, they did have the new Friday Night Freak Show T-shirt, but- Oh. I didn't know that shirt. That'll be something to look at down the road. I'll have to look that up. Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely.
17:34
Yeah, whatever that, like the logo from the, from the website. I mean, it's good. Nothing remarkable, but it's something that'll end up in a stable at some point in time. Right on. So,
17:52
yeah. Cool. So we were t- we, we- But for you guys. [laughs] Well, we talked about... Let's see here. Oh, you know what? I'm touching my, I'm touching my screen.
18:03
[laughs] I don't have a- This is that, that touchscreen laptop there, Greg... I don't have... My computer's not a touch screen. So [laughs]
18:08
we, uh, we mentioned, um, Bike Index- What, you're touching a, a thing that doesn't have a touch screen? Right. All right. Yeah.
18:13
It's, it's going well Uh, we were talking about, um, stolen bikes and stuff and bikeindex.org Oh, the tweed ride's coming up Ah. Right on.
18:23
The tweed ride's coming up, like, I think, uh, this weekend, if I'm not damn mistaken. Could be a good one. Down, start, starting down at, starting down at, uh, Lakefront Brewing- Ah...
18:36
and I think they wanna roll out around 1:00 PM Central. Is this a Facebook event? I know nothing about this. Yeah, yeah. Oh. The tweed ride is always... Yeah.
18:46
Man, I know the tweed ride, but- It's like a mockatory tweed ride... but I haven't- Or I can... Yes. Yeah. Let me, uh, let me...
18:54
So I would, just bringing it back to this Bike Index thing for a second, uh- Yes, yes, yes... Edmonton, up in Canada, eh, they're use- their police department- Yeah, yeah...
19:04
up there uses it, and it's been very successful for them, and I'm, I'm hoping with the rash of bike thefts around here that, um, that we get some action from Bike Index. But I think what makes it work there
19:18
is that whenever somebody buys a bike at a shop in that area, it's automatically registered with Bike Index so that they've got 146,000 bikes registered in the Edmonton area now, and it makes it, you know- No shit...
19:32
when the majority of bikes that are sold in whatever the last 10 years or what, however many years it's been, uh, are registered, it sure makes it a heck of a lot easier to
19:43
connect with the people once a bike has gone missing. So at least there's a success story in the- Yeah... bike theft market somewhere. Shit. Right. Yes, yes, yes. Register your bikes, people. Register.
19:57
Bike Index- Register... does it all, just like Huckleberry- Find the numbers. Wait, the tweed ride's four hours? It's pretty long usually. Uh, Kim says hello- It's not four hours...
20:06
as she, Kim says hello as she's standing in the bike lane and- Getting runned over... almost getting run over by bikes, so. [laughs] Good. Don't get runned over. Yeah. Good job, good job, Kim.
20:16
I, I, I, I'm, I'm, I'm sl- yeah, I know. I'm, I'm slightly not paying attention or giving the benefit of whatever. [laughs] No, you must learn. [laughs] Yep.
20:28
She's- This is why you end up with scars- She's, she's in the-... to rem- so you remember that the past actually happened... she's in the oblivion zone.
20:36
[laughs] Yeah, she's doing the zombie, zombie phone, head into the phone thing. She just texted me and says- What?... "Charlie, Charlie Brown's on the podcast."
20:48
I think she took a picture of you while you're actually casting- Oh, that's what she was-... of the pod, yeah... yeah. Okay. So she was taking the damn, she was taking the damn picture from the bike lane.
20:57
[laughs] What could go wrong? Good, good call. Good on you. Well, that... [laughs] Charlie Brown. He's a clown, that Charlie Brown. Bringing it right back to the bike-centricness of everything.
21:10
[laughs] I think I heard a beep. Tony, Tony- From boot. Beep... Tony's got the, uh, Tony's got the, uh, Rock 'Em Sock 'Em robots going. [laughs] Ah. Ah.
21:21
We're gonna have to have a, we're gonna have to have a cage match when you get back. We'll do a two out of three between the three of us and see who's the Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robot- Oh, shit. Yeah. Oh, dude...
21:29
champion of the world. Dude. Oh, man. Back, uh, okay, uh, in late '90s, nostalgia, New Rock days, we had a Rock 'Em Sock 'Em tournament, and we ended up getting a, uh- I don't remember this...
21:46
we had connections to pro, or, like, semi-pro wrestling, so we got a wrestling ring put out in front of the radio station, and then had a table, and then would have the Rock 'Em Sock 'Em match in the middle of the wrestling.
21:59
[laughs] Well, I'm- On, uh, on Highway 100. [laughs] I'm looking at this one here, and I'm going, I thought they were, like, three times that big. No, they were always that size.
22:08
Just 'cause it has the little tiny people, right? Most likely- Yeah... most- No, this is traditional- No, it, Rock 'Em Sock 'Em-... Rock 'Em Sock 'Em robots- Yeah... right here. This is the full thing.
22:15
You get to move them around and stuff. Toys were way more simpler when we were kids. Yep. This one, it's a little- This one, the fact- [laughs]... that it's made of plastic was modern. Yeah. You know? Yeah.
22:25
Well, they lasted after the pounding and the beating they took. They, man, these things took a hits. I'm surprised that they were as, uh, durable as they are. That's right. But, uh...
22:33
No, it was just f- like, I mean, it w- like, it was, like, for our damn event or whatever, but I was like, "Damn, we got a damn wrestling ring up here, man." I was, like, going, fucking- It's on...
22:43
hitting the ropes both sides. [laughs] It's on. Yeah. Just don't, don't miss that rope- It was cool... and end up out in the, o- out in the seats. I know. Oh, yeah.
22:52
Or start chewing on it like- We're upstairs to get the chair... George "The Animal" Steel, hit that turnbuckle. Oh, George "The Animal" Steel. Oh. Oh, yeah. Well, we had chairs and a table.
22:59
It was getting a gnarly match- Oh... if things started going south. Happens. Happens. It's wrestling. Uh, i- indeed. It, uh- All right, boy-os. I'll see you guys in a week. Okay. Yep. Blow a beer.
23:12
Enjoy, enjoy the rest of your trip. We'll, we'll be here next week for 275. 275. 275, that means I'll, I'll, I'll think of something. That's, like, a sesquicent- a double sesquicentennial or something of that nature.
23:27
Work it out. I don't know. It's either UFOs or drones. They're either, like, drones, moonrise, or aliens, or a ship's on fire. Yeah. Not exactly sure yet. All right. Well, have a g- Good luck...
23:42
have a, have a good rest of the trip. I'll see you. So if I don't see you guys, I, if I, if I don't see you guys, I've been abducted. [laughs] Cool. All right. Later on you. I, I mentioned- Later on, you guys. Thanks.
23:52
I, uh, I'd mentioned that last night I was on my porch and looked to the west and saw, like, 12 drones. I'm like, "What's going on to the west of River West right now?" It was all over Harambe. Huh.
24:05
And it was, like, a series, it was clearly a series of drones- Were-... or aliens. Yeah. Were they in formation? Yeah. And- They kept moving around in formation, which I was like- Huh... "Well, that's kinda weird."
24:15
Wonder if somebody's practicing a routine- Yeah, maybe... or, or, or they're- Maybe. It was cool... chasing down a bad guy. It caught my eye for a second, then I, like, stared and watched them for a little bit.
24:23
I'm like, "Wait a minute. These are all moving, like, in succession. They're all..." It was clearly orchestrated. It was cool. I was like, "This is kinda neat."
24:31
Yeah, well, they had that, uh, that big drone show at Villa Terrace- Right... which was hundreds of them. Yep. It's amazing that they can get those things to
24:41
be within a few feet of each other and not just- It's not amazing. It's science. It's technology. Well, that too. And science. Same thing. It's technology. Yeah, I mean- Technology is not- It's all programming inside...
24:50
science is- [laughs] It really is... science isn't real. The, the, to be able to combat it with the winds and stuff, though, is another whole, I mean, factor that you... But yeah, watching drones fly is really fun. Yeah.
25:00
And it's, I mean, it's big, it's a big business to do that. So since everybody's getting away from fireworks these days, it's like, "Well, let's get the drones in here." Makes sense.
25:08
And for the amount of money they spend on fireworks- Drones are cheap... they, they can get- You can reuse them... they can get drones in. There's, yeah, the shows are still pretty spendy. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
25:17
Were you ever a, uh, were you ever a Pro's Closet customer? Uh, I shopped it. I don't know if I've ever actually purchased anything from it, but yeah, rest in peace, man. Yeah.
25:28
I was s- surprised to see that they had pulled anchor and w- and, uh, decided to sh- to close up shop. I, there's a, I don't know if it's the Radavist, I think it was the Radavist- Yep...
25:38
or somebody similar, that they had bought out a few years back, and they actually gave it back as they shut down, which is kinda cool. I see.
25:46
I don't know how long ago that was, but, uh, I think this actual shutdown has been in the works for a little bit.
25:52
But if I remember right, when it started, I don't know, 10, 12, 14, 15, 14 years ago, I don't know, it was a while back, that it was basically an on-the-road rep who got a bunch of demo stuff and swag and- Mm...
26:09
just kept accumulating things. And, and he may have been a pro racer as well at the time or something, and was like, "I got all this stuff.
26:16
I gotta get rid of this stuff, so I'm gonna set up something to get rid of this stuff." And it, it turned into something. So happened. I don't, they sold lots and lots of bikes.
26:25
And their certified pre-owned kind of model, I think, is a good one, um- Yeah... you know, for bike shops going forward. It, it's, it's gonna be tough for the bike guys out there, for sure.
26:36
My real question for you, though, Greg, is [smacks lips] Huh? Have you ordered your Penis yet? [laughs] I thought it was a Pen15, but no, it's a- [laughs] What the heck? Here.
26:48
Uh, I'm, I'm doing the- Ratan's new electric bike- I'm doing the-... is called a Penis... I'm doing the touch screen. [laughs] Stop doing that. You know what I should do, is get a touch screen computer.
26:56
[laughs] I think, I honestly think these guys are gonna come up with one at some point. It's like, "Ah, you know." A little late. "Hey, they don't invent stuff. They just make it better."
27:07
It's P- [laughs] P- [laughs] It's so funny, this story, though. I thought it was Prius for a second- Yeah... 'cause I'm a little- No, it's Penis... dyslexic maybe.
27:14
But it's a P- it's a- It's one borrowed vowel [laughs] away from the king of all middle school humor. [laughs] Unbelievable. What on earth made you name your bike the Ratan Penis?
27:24
[laughs] It's, must be, [laughs] must be an, I don't know if it's an Asian thing or what.
27:28
It's, it's- It doesn't- It's also like that new electric assist that everyone's talking about once again, which basically turns your bike either into a unicorn or a fucking penis. [laughs] I'm like, "W- " Oh.
27:42
"The, the front electrics thing you added to- Yeah... the, the wheel."
27:46
Yeah, well it's- And it's like- Well, there's one now that goes off your seat post that looks kinda interesting that's- But that's not sticking out the front like- Right... a big old dick. I know.
27:54
But it's, but this one, I mean, it does look interesting. If that were on the front, it would be a- Right, that'd be fine... a penis. Yeah. But if it was in the back, it'd just be, like, farting or something.
28:02
[laughs] I don't know. I mean, we're getting into middle school humor here, but- Fart figurine... you create a bike [laughs] called a Penis. You're gonna get that. Ooh.
28:10
Yeah, sales, it's like, you might, might as well call it the Nova and sell it in Mexico. Yeah. Well, uh, just, uh, so JK mentioned the Tweed Ride. I think that's this weekend. And then- Mm...
28:25
next weekend is Single Speed USA Inc. in Salida. There's also Beat Street on, in Bay View this weekend. Yep. It's either Saturday, I think it's Saturday.
28:34
I mean, we don't have too many weekends where it's- It's a pretty good show... not gonna be getting chilly now. Starting to get a little chilly. Yep. Yep. It was nice today, 65. It was a good ride.
28:40
Uh, the weekend of the 12th, Lunz and I are headed up to Hayward, so see what the weather's like up there in northern Wisconnie. Nice. Right on. You can go see Dave Schlabowski.
28:53
Yeah, everybody's coming over from Iowa, too, for, um, Jerry Wright's memorial thing. Oh, that one. So- Yeah. Right on... there'll be a good, a good collection of riders from all over the Midwest, if not further afield.
29:05
I know he- Yeah... uh, was very well connected and well-known. He had a big net. He did cast a big shadow. He had a big net. All right, everybody.
29:13
Well, thanks to JK for calling in, down from Florida way, looking Chuck Brown-ish. Chuck Brown. We'll have a, we'll have a picture in the show notes of, of old Charlie Brown down there. It's pretty good.
29:22
And, uh, we'll be here next week for show- It's worth checking it out just for the Charlie Brown photo... 275. Later on, you people. [imitates engine revving] I think that's that button.
29:34
[imitates engine revving] [rock music] Sounds like that button.
29:52
[rock music]
