It's already a hostile work environment inside this studio.
• 0:10
  Welcome to The Regulars.
• 0:11
  I'm Cody Duck.
• 0:12
  I'm Tanya Ray Fox.
• 0:13
I really hope, I hope there are not children of all ages that watch this show, by the way.
• 0:17
  I was thinking about that.
• 0:18
  You said that.
• 0:19
I would love for the children to learn some shit.
• 0:21
I don't think that, this is, when I put it up on, when I put clips up on YouTube, I have
• 0:27
to make sure I mark explicit.
• 0:30
  You know why?
• 0:31
Because the word fuck is said every 10 seconds.
• 0:33
  Yeah.
• 0:34
  Yeah.
• 0:35
  It's not a lot.
• 0:36
  So yeah.
• 0:37
  Um, but we're, we're here.
• 0:38
  Long week vibes.
• 0:39
  Long week.
• 0:40
  It's a Friday though.
• 0:41
But like, listen, a long week.
• 0:43
You and I met up last night, you, you, Chris, Annie and I, uh, we watched some world cup
• 0:47
  soccer.
• 0:48
We watched, um, you know, the United States absolutely embarrassed themselves because,
• 0:51
you know, it's not, it's one thing to lose.
• 0:54
It's not a thing to lose to a brand new country that no one's ever heard of.
• 0:57
  I can't, I hate this joke.
• 0:58
  I genuinely hate this joke.
• 1:01
  You tried it last night.
• 1:03
Um, Turkey just has a new pronunciation.
• 1:06
  We're going with Turkey, eh?
• 1:08
  No big deal.
• 1:09
  You're good.
• 1:10
I feel like I'm being gaslit.
• 1:11
  You can handle it.
• 1:12
I feel like I'm being gaslit because no one told me we were doing this.
• 1:15
You just sprung it on me and you sprung it on me on a hard launch at the world cup.
• 1:21
You didn't even, you didn't even like buy me a drink first.
• 1:24
  You just went straight in.
• 1:25
Nor did we have to because it's okay.
• 1:30
I mean, no, it's fine, but it's also, you know, we could have had a talk first.
• 1:34
Isn't there a, what is it?
• 1:36
  Is it Germany?
• 1:37
They, they call their country something else.
• 1:40
  I feel like Deutschland.
• 1:41
  Yeah.
• 1:42
Like, I feel like Germans don't say Germany in German when they're talking like they say
• 1:47
  it in English.
• 1:48
  Yeah.
• 1:49
  Deutschland.
• 1:51
There's like a lot of this.
• 1:52
  Yeah.
• 1:53
  I understand.
• 1:54
  I just listen.
• 1:55
I'm just saying, could I have received a pamphlet?
• 1:58
Something expressing what was going to happen.
• 2:02
  That's all.
• 2:03
I'm sitting here on the, on now the radio saying it out loud going like, wait a second.
• 2:07
What have this has, how long has this been a thing?
• 2:10
I'm fine with it being a thing, but don't talk to me about it as if I should have already
• 2:16
  known.
• 2:17
  I think it's, yeah.
• 2:18
  It's triggering your insecurities.
• 2:19
Like I said, there's something about this that's like really hurting like third grade
• 2:24
  Cody.
• 2:25
I got in front of the class and said Turkey and the class giggled because I got it wrong
• 2:30
and it's really deep inside my subconscious.
• 2:33
I honestly genuinely really think you're going to be okay and, and, and I do think in fact
• 2:39
that as we have more world tournaments moving forward, Turkey is going to feel like home
• 2:44
  to you.
• 2:45
I really don't think that's going to be the case, but I am looking forward to learning
• 2:48
  the new pronunciation.
• 2:50
We also have a little bit of beef with your assessment of the United States game.
• 2:52
So when we, uh, I don't actually, yeah, let this be real clear.
• 2:55
  I'm joking.
• 2:56
  Yeah.
• 2:57
Um, no, uh, you at team USA did go down in the matchup, uh, three to two, um, obviously
• 3:02
as we are aware, it was their B squad.
• 3:05
Obviously as we are aware, it was also the aspect that it was more or less a glorified
• 3:10
friendly cause we already won the group stage, which it wasn't friendly for Turkey.
• 3:14
No, it was not very like a, to their credit, knowing that they were eliminated, we're not
• 3:19
going to spend their opportunity to play in another world cup match, um, conceding.
• 3:24
And I think that's so fucking awesome.
• 3:27
They fought their asses off and I loved that.
• 3:30
But yeah, I mean like at the end of the day, there's, I was listening to Landon Donovan
• 3:37
  talk about the game.
• 3:38
And so we'll talk about that when we move into the discussion.
• 3:42
Um, but I mean, technically our, we're kind of just going into headline one cause headline
• 3:47
one is always just stuff these days, right?
• 3:50
Unless something takes over and nothing has taken over quite yet.
• 3:52
Not at the moment, not at the moment, nor should it.
• 3:54
But, um, we knew, right, like we were in a unique position, the United States that we
• 4:00
had won the first two, uh, of our group stage.
• 4:04
  That never happens.
• 4:05
  We've never done that before.
• 4:09
  Winner of the group.
• 4:11
And, uh, you know, France actually did the same thing and decided to go with their a,
• 4:16
  with their 18 today.
• 4:17
  They rolled them out there.
• 4:18
They were like, we're not, we're not putting any B team out there.
• 4:21
  We're going with our guys.
• 4:22
They were playing Norway to be fair.
• 4:24
So like, they were like, we don't want to lose this match and with our B team, we may
• 4:27
have, um, the United States could have won that Turkey a game with their B squad.
• 4:32
That's what Potch was trying to do.
• 4:34
And, uh, you know, in that, in those spots, like, I think personally, all of those guys
• 4:41
getting match experience, getting out there and, and getting their legs underneath them,
• 4:46
getting their fitness, um, figured out Potch, getting a chance to see what was working and
• 4:51
what wasn't, uh, is super important.
• 4:54
Um, like there, it was a very telling sort of, to have that opportunity to do it and
• 5:00
just, and to see that they were hanging in with their B squad and then, you know, a rotation,
• 5:05
they were rotating in all these other players, some starters later in the game and all that
• 5:08
to see that they were hanging in there with Turkey, who was considered going into this
• 5:12
tournament to be their biggest competition in that group is really like, I don't have
• 5:18
a ton of ill feelings about how the game went.
• 5:21
Of course, we were bummed last night where we watched the whole game match, but it was,
• 5:25
honestly, no, there was, there were too many aspects.
• 5:27
  We discussed it on Monday.
• 5:28
Should they, shouldn't they, uh, should they even put in Pulisic and we kind of all agree
• 5:32
that we'll probably put them in late to kind of get him some minutes, minutes so we can
• 5:34
get some, uh, and he came in and he looked good when he got like almost 30 minutes in
• 5:39
  the actual match.
• 5:40
  He looked amazing.
• 5:41
He looked better, honestly, than I thought he would with that group.
• 5:46
And I thought that the way he played in the first game, the only game that he had played
• 5:50
thus far was some of the best I'd ever seen him play.
• 5:54
And then to see him play, he ignited everything as soon as he came in and the energy was totally
• 5:59
like, just the way he, the way that he's able to move, honestly, I think I said this
• 6:04
while we were watching the game is there, the other players on the field, like couldn't
• 6:08
quite keep up with what he was doing.
• 6:10
He was sort of doing these like no look passes and stuff like the player, the other guys
• 6:13
out there were like, Oh, Christian, we're not used to this.
• 6:15
Uh, so it didn't quite, it wasn't quite as effective as it could have been, but he was
• 6:19
  great.
• 6:20
Um, I'll also say like, I don't know, I have not actually heard a lot about what people
• 6:24
have said about Matt Turner, but I thought Matt Turner was actually quite good in, in,
• 6:30
  in goal.
• 6:31
And I realized people are going to look at that score and they're going to look at the
• 6:33
goals and it's Turkey a, we lost them, whatever.
• 6:36
Oh, they put it in our backup gold tender, but Matt Turner was once our starter.
• 6:40
He has a ton of like, he does have experience.
• 6:42
And the reality is those goals really weren't on him.
• 6:46
Even that last one really wasn't on him.
• 6:48
Uh, so well, there were four defenders behind him that somehow none of them were able to
• 6:55
defense had broken down at that point for him to even try to go out there and get that
• 6:59
  angle, square them off.
• 7:00
  Right.
• 7:01
And then it gets, if it gets behind you in that spot.
• 7:02
Now, if he's a little bit younger, a little more athletic, a little bit less scared to
• 7:05
dive on the ball, maybe he grabs it there, but okay.
• 7:09
At the end of the day, it absolutely should not have gone in with that many guys behind
• 7:12
  him.
• 7:13
And so I also feel like if we were to have to go to Matt Turner, I don't feel awful about
• 7:18
  that.
• 7:19
I mean, they're going to go to Matt freeze, but like, you know,
• 7:20
yeah, but listen, it was, it was a great match.
• 7:22
It was a lot of fun to watch.
• 7:23
  The energy was high.
• 7:24
He got a little bit of a lull there right before halftime, luckily the Americans came
• 7:28
out the gate, got the equalizer.
• 7:29
And then of course, extra time.
• 7:31
  Great.
• 7:32
  Yeah.
• 7:33
With what sucks is about 20 seconds left in the actual match, they were able to get that
• 7:36
  thing done.
• 7:37
And also not to mention the amount of nutmegging that was going on, on the USA B team.
• 7:41
And it even was said out loud by the actual broadcast, Oh my God, a nutmeg right there
• 7:46
on and then of course the goal took place and kind of felt something was in the air
• 7:51
when the last play was actually coming in.
• 7:54
It was, it was a lot of fun.
• 7:55
I feel good about in the United States going up against Bosnia, I believe next Wednesday,
• 7:59
that'll be a lot of fun.
• 8:00
  Yeah.
• 8:01
July 1st, a real opportunity to get to the, you know, the, the group of 16.
• 8:05
So they, so you and I, I think we could both agree there's zero excuse for the United.
• 8:09
Like we don't like to put tons of ultimatums, but no, you should not be losing.
• 8:12
You have to beat Bosnia Herzegovina.
• 8:15
I have trouble with it too.
• 8:16
That's why I just go with Bosnia Herzegovina.
• 8:18
  I mean, no disrespect.
• 8:20
No, I just, I just, I, I'm not even gonna bother Herzegovina Herzegovina.
• 8:25
  Okay.
• 8:26
  Okay.
• 8:27
  That's a lot.
• 8:28
  We can do it.
• 8:29
  Herzegovina.
• 8:30
  But no disrespect to them.
• 8:31
And honestly, like, you know, I'm, this is not coming from a place of arrogance of like,
• 8:35
Oh, the United States is obviously going to win.
• 8:37
  Cause we're so great.
• 8:38
That's what everybody always thinks when we like predict the United States will do something
• 8:40
  else.
• 8:41
We're just saying we have seen both of these teams play.
• 8:43
This is a, this is the best possible situation for the United States in terms of getting
• 8:47
a knockout round win and making it into the round of 16, these kinds of stuff.
• 8:51
Because at the end of the day, first round of 32, new thing, love that we've got a huge
• 8:55
opportunity there and they are getting a best of third place team, right?
• 9:00
So everybody had the group winners.
• 9:01
You had the group runner-ups, all of those teams made through, we're still figuring out
• 9:05
some of the teams right now as the games are unfolding Bosnia and Herzegovina are, is one
• 9:10
of the third place teams that's coming out of that, their group, because there are several
• 9:16
slots allowed for third place teams.
• 9:19
So the best of the third place teams get to go through as well.
• 9:22
That's who they're drawing in the round of 32.
• 9:26
You cannot fuck up that opportunity when you are looking as good as they have.
• 9:30
So this is the first time since that first game where I was like, I have the expectations.
• 9:37
Like I could actually genuinely be massively disappointed because there's no excuse to
• 9:41
  lose this game.
• 9:42
  It's make or break.
• 9:43
Uh, actually said that this is the most excited he's been for a U S game, maybe ever, including
• 9:48
when he's once he's played in, well, that's, that's amazing.
• 9:50
Listen, I'm very excited for the matchup.
• 9:52
  It's going to be great.
• 9:53
They should win as we've already expressed and there's no notes.
• 9:58
  Let's go and play it.
• 9:59
  Let's see what it goes.
• 10:00
Uh, I political be in there.
• 10:01
I'm looking forward to this lineup.
• 10:03
I cannot wait to see it.
• 10:04
I'm really legitimately excited, but I will be very excited getting to 16.
• 10:09
  That's an accomplishment.
• 10:11
I'm my eyes are already looking ahead.
• 10:14
I know they shouldn't be, but I'm thinking more about that.
• 10:17
I'm thinking about 16 because they have to win this.
• 10:20
I know, but I don't have the balls to think about what could happen in 16.
• 10:23
Like I do expect them to get there, but matchups.
• 10:26
So I was talking to somebody about this and I don't know how you feel because this isn't
• 10:29
super unique to soccer, but it is specific to soccer in this way is that outside of maybe
• 10:34
three teams in the world cup.
• 10:36
And this, this goes for basically every high end tournament there.
• 10:41
The real way to get to a, you know, an eight or a four or a final is by getting lucky with
• 10:47
  matchups.
• 10:48
France doesn't have to get lucky with matchups.
• 10:50
They should win their fucking games, Spain, Brazil, these teams that are absolutely stacked,
• 10:54
  they're stacked.
• 10:55
They don't, it's not about matchups.
• 10:56
But when you look at these tournaments, you just often make your way because you get the
• 11:02
  right matchup.
• 11:03
It's not just down to talent because outside of those three teams, any, any given team
• 11:07
could really win a fucking match.
• 11:10
And that's what's, that's what freaks me out is like, depending on that draw, the matchup
• 11:16
  is going to determine everything.
• 11:17
And like, I think the, I think the U S matches up pretty well against a lot of this field.
• 11:21
So it's going to be exciting.
• 11:23
  No notes.
• 11:24
Let's just get more into it.
• 11:26
  Get more into it.
• 11:27
  That's it.
• 11:28
  Well, there's finally knockouts.
• 11:29
  Let's go.
• 11:30
There's also, um, all the, I've got some names in front of LA.
• 11:32
I know last time I kind of blindsided you with a question about like who else you're
• 11:35
  kind of loving right now.
• 11:36
So I'm going to go through some of the group winners that we do know about, uh, obviously
• 11:41
France, uh, Mexico who, um, I love the Mexican team because there's so many Mexican Americans
• 11:49
in Los Angeles and, and I've watched a lot of Mexico.
• 11:51
So I'm excited to see them go through, uh, Switzerland, Brazil, the U S Germany, Netherlands,
• 11:57
  Argentina.
• 11:58
We've got a South Africa moving through, um, Canada, Cote d'Ivoire, Japan, Australia, Morocco,
• 12:04
um, Ecuador made their way through Sweden, made their way through.
• 12:08
So like, you know, are there any other teams that right now, because we've, we've had a
• 12:13
lot of sweethearts and sweethearts that are gone from the, from the field that we probably
• 12:17
  would have loved to see.
• 12:18
I think Senegal has probably made it through by now, right?
• 12:19
Cause they won five to nothing.
• 12:20
So, uh, I can only update this thing so often throughout the day, but, uh, anybody that
• 12:25
you are outside of the United States, you're like, I'm really rooting for them right now.
• 12:29
I'm not really rooting for anybody, but I'm certainly looking at who the final threes
• 12:33
  are going to be.
• 12:34
Of course, I hope relentlessly like, yeah, you're like locked in on like, I'm looking
• 12:38
  at the competition.
• 12:39
  No, no, no.
• 12:40
I'm relentlessly hoping that some magic can happen that Scotland can get in, but I don't
• 12:44
think the math is going to work out mapping, unfortunately, although there was some talk
• 12:48
that they could end up getting matched up with Mexico, which I was hoping from everything
• 12:53
on planet earth for that to happen.
• 12:55
That being said of the, of the Cinderella's no, we all know they're going to be knocked
• 12:58
out probably in the round of 32 anyways.
• 13:01
So right now it's all the big dogs.
• 13:02
I'm looking forward to the same old narratives that everybody else is looking forward to.
• 13:05
I'm looking to see what Messi can do in the next round.
• 13:07
I'm looking very forward to seeing what France can do.
• 13:09
  Can they finally do it?
• 13:11
  I really want to wait.
• 13:13
Dembele had a hat trick in the first 31 minutes of the game today.
• 13:17
And I really want to see how England bounces back.
• 13:20
  Like that's good.
• 13:21
  That's super interesting.
• 13:22
I'm a big, uh, you know, I've been rooting for England, not the country, not the fans,
• 13:27
just the team reminder, just the team.
• 13:29
So I'm looking forward to that game tomorrow.
• 13:32
Like really looking forward to what they end up doing with that.
• 13:36
And yeah, um, I would, I would love to see something like, so we talked about Ronaldo
• 13:42
a little bit in one of our shows and I too, you know, I'm not going to beat myself up
• 13:47
over this because genuinely I, it's very hard for me to remember how many piece of shit,
• 13:53
truly horrible, awful men are allowed to get away with being pieces of shit, truly awful,
• 13:58
  horrible men.
• 13:59
  Tell me more.
• 14:00
Cristiano Ronaldo has like a, like one of the more like one of the more, uh, uh, obviously
• 14:09
  it happened.
• 14:10
  Rape allegations of all time.
• 14:12
  I actually don't know this.
• 14:14
  Yeah.
• 14:15
So, um, it was a while ago, I think it was like around 2010 in Las Vegas.
• 14:19
And over the course of the years, there was, uh, there's an outlet called Der Spiegel that
• 14:23
ended up, uh, getting access to his document, the lawyer's documents and all of the questionnaire
• 14:29
stuff that they ask when they're trying to represent their clients.
• 14:32
And of course, this is a case that was dropped, shoot, you know, blah, blah, blah.
• 14:36
Well, they get the access to the documents and it's bad.
• 14:39
  He basically admitted it.
• 14:41
He admitted that she said no, he admitted it was like rough.
• 14:43
He admitted that she was like bruised.
• 14:45
Um, this is a hotel, somebody at a hotel in Las Vegas.
• 14:50
And she actually came on the record.
• 14:52
Like she, her name is known.
• 14:54
  She did not say anonymous.
• 14:55
  She filed a civil suit.
• 14:56
It's all the stuff that you expect where it ends up being like, you know, the cops aren't
• 15:00
  going to press charges.
• 15:01
They're not going to do anything, even though we have all this evidence.
• 15:02
And then he pays her off, right?
• 15:05
  The usual stuff.
• 15:06
But this is a very legitimate, very believable accusation that I very much believe that most
• 15:14
people very much believe because of these documents, he threatened to sue Der Spiegel
• 15:18
  and for defamation.
• 15:19
  Oh, yeah.
• 15:20
I can't believe that you, those are fake documents.
• 15:22
You, you, uh, you screwed with them.
• 15:24
  You, you know, they're fraudulent.
• 15:26
Well, this guy that was so protective of his image, that's very protective of his money,
• 15:32
has gotten in trouble for tax evasion, didn't end up suing Der Spiegel, just empty threats.
• 15:36
And when someone's defaming you for being a very violent rapist, usually you go through
• 15:41
  on that.
• 15:42
So yeah, I just wanted it on record that, uh, I forgot that Cristiano Ronaldo is a legendary
• 15:47
piece of shit in that way.
• 15:48
  I already remembered he sucked.
• 15:50
But, um, that was something I covered back when it happened and it just like escaped
• 15:53
  my memory.
• 15:54
I would like to be on the record saying I didn't know that story already fucking hate
• 15:58
  the guy.
• 15:59
And now I hate him more.
• 16:00
  Yeah.
• 16:01
So, uh, just needed to remind everyone of that.
• 16:02
So I hope that he, uh, does, I thought, I hope that, uh, he has an awful tournament.
• 16:06
  Yeah.
• 16:07
  Yeah.
• 16:08
I hope he, I hope he, uh, fucking goes deep into the pole and rib cages it exactly right.
• 16:12
  Just fucking straight in there.
• 16:13
Just fucking like it's a Looney Tunes fucking commercial.
• 16:16
  Uh, yeah.
• 16:17
  Yeah.
• 16:18
  So, um, always, always good.
• 16:19
  By the way.
• 16:20
  Oh, another thing.
• 16:21
  Oh yeah.
• 16:22
So he hadn't been in the United States for like the last 10 years because of the, because
• 16:26
  of what happened.
• 16:27
  Okay.
• 16:28
And, uh, he went, he was supposed to be like, he, he had been, um, fined and there was something
• 16:35
happening where he was going to have to miss the first game of the world cup.
• 16:39
He was going to be suspended for the first game of the world cup ends up at a dinner
• 16:42
with Donald Trump and infant Tino, the head of the, of FIFA, president of FIFA.
• 16:47
And most miraculously, uh, right soon after that, that suspension was lifted overturned.
• 16:54
So he's in bed with Trump.
• 16:56
He's in bed with infant Tino.
• 16:57
It's where, well, he did take all that blood money to play in Saudi Arabia, right?
• 17:02
A lot of people have taken the Saudi blood money, um, some more objectionable than others.
• 17:07
Uh, like I have a couple of, uh, a couple of favorite players from the premier league
• 17:11
who went over, who were like kind of underrated in the premier league and ended up going over
• 17:14
  and getting paid.
• 17:15
And I was like, you know what?
• 17:16
I kind of root for them even though I know it's objectively bad, but yeah, Cristiano
• 17:19
  Ronaldo can fuck.
• 17:20
  He can go fuck himself.
• 17:21
  All right.
• 17:22
  Headline.
• 17:23
Number two, where are we going?
• 17:24
We're going to Minnesota where the wolves will be starting both Anthony Edwards and
• 17:30
the mellow ball on the same team.
• 17:32
And I cannot tell you how much, how much this has taken up in my brain, the rent free in
• 17:37
my brain that this is why, because I think it's fascinating trade.
• 17:41
  I think it's like such a, a wild thing.
• 17:43
  I think it's wild.
• 17:44
They trade away Julius Randall and make the room and then they make the move and I don't
• 17:48
  hate the trade.
• 17:49
I just, I'm just kind of confused on exactly how they're going to work together and I look
• 17:53
  forward to seeing it.
• 17:54
Also the personalities is going to be fucking wild.
• 17:57
Well there's the personalities of it, which is like, they are probably the two most rogue
• 18:02
  little motherfuckers in the NBA.
• 18:05
But drafted the same year, you know, both doll ball Donna dominant in a very similar
• 18:10
  position.
• 18:11
Um, and like on, you know, outside of personality, it's a pretty fascinating pairing and it is
• 18:17
very much a, this is either going to work or it's not type thing.
• 18:20
I can absolutely see how it could work.
• 18:23
I also think it's, it's just not something I would have predicted.
• 18:26
I could also see how it could be a train wreck.
• 18:28
  Yeah.
• 18:29
And, but I will say the Timberwolves have been building towards something and I like
• 18:33
Chris Finch as a, as a coach.
• 18:34
  I think he's a really good coach.
• 18:36
I, I tend to feel like when you do something like this, there is a real plan in place there.
• 18:41
Uh, I was talking to Chris about this, who obviously watches a lot of NBA as well.
• 18:45
And he was saying, you know, LaMelo has had to be bald dominant.
• 18:48
He's had to sort of take things over and just sort of play his street ball style.
• 18:52
But he's an incredible, he's, he's a, he's an incredible, he has incredible vision.
• 18:57
  He's very good at distributing.
• 18:59
He could absolutely quarterback a team.
• 19:01
He understands exactly where everybody needs to be.
• 19:03
And he's very good at that role.
• 19:05
Uh, whereas Ant has that like gorgeous athleticism and the clutchness and all that stuff.
• 19:11
And if they function that way together, they could be incredibly dynamic.
• 19:15
And on top of it, that, I mean, they still have Rudy Gobert, they still have like a couple
• 19:18
pieces and they have Io who's like come along since he coming over from Chicago.
• 19:23
So I, it's like, it very much is like, it's either an insane train wreck genius or like,
• 19:30
  I don't know.
• 19:32
But I just can't stop thinking that we're going to get LaMelo ball and Anthony Edwards
• 19:36
  on the same team.
• 19:37
  It's going to be interesting.
• 19:38
But also at the end of the day, it's just congratulations.
• 19:40
You just made a team either mildly better, or you made some semblance of a lateral move.
• 19:46
And at the end of the day, it is more interesting, no question, but it is the Western conference.
• 19:52
That's what it's all coming down.
• 19:53
That's what I think it's kind of fun is that like, we are seeing this, this whole field
• 19:58
of Western conference teams that are like absolute forces.
• 20:02
The Spurs aren't going to be getting any worse.
• 20:03
The Thunder are what the Thunder are.
• 20:05
Rockets are going to be healthy this year.
• 20:07
The rockets are what they are like.
• 20:08
  They're never not good.
• 20:10
Like they might not be great.
• 20:11
They might not, you know, whatever.
• 20:12
  But they're always good.
• 20:13
  The Lakers.
• 20:14
If you believe reports on what they're going to be doing, who knows what the Lakers, but
• 20:17
they're not going to be bad.
• 20:18
  We know that, right?
• 20:19
Like the Warriors at any point in time could be still be good, especially now that they've
• 20:23
like started to kind of bring in their pieces.
• 20:25
They got a great player in the draft from Michigan, who I, one of my favorite players
• 20:30
in the draft, like, but then I look at this and I'm like, you know, these are two players
• 20:35
who they are at their positions, two of the best players at the position in the league
• 20:43
  since they were drafted.
• 20:44
Lamello Ball has had like a much better career than we realized.
• 20:49
He's just been obviously not on a good team.
• 20:52
Lamello among the, among the 2020 draft class are, you know, first and fourth and points
• 20:58
first and fourth and second and assists first and third and steals first and third and 30
• 21:03
  point games.
• 21:04
Like these guys are really, really good dynamic players and the two best players out of that
• 21:07
  class at their position.
• 21:08
  So it's fun.
• 21:09
I think that they're as, as ridiculous as they are.
• 21:12
I actually do think that they're, they're probably going to get along quite well.
• 21:15
I am very on like a silly note.
• 21:19
So excited to see some LeVar ball around Anthony Edwards.
• 21:22
I mean, I'm not positive about that one, but you know, I love shenanigans.
• 21:28
  Like I love that.
• 21:29
  I love these shenanigans.
• 21:30
  I can't stand this man.
• 21:31
So I used to, I will say, I used to hate LeVar ball.
• 21:34
I used to get so annoyed by him.
• 21:35
I used to whatever there's like, I really came around because like, I think it's always
• 21:42
one of the, I think I always assumed that he was like a stage dad, like that's how they
• 21:46
  tried to sell him.
• 21:47
  Right.
• 21:48
And then I was like, I think we were getting kind of a little bit of like racist dog whistling
• 21:51
around LeVar because his kids were always like, no, we love our dad.
• 21:55
Like we really love our dad.
• 21:56
And we'd be like, are you sure though?
• 21:58
And they were like, no, we actually like really love our dad.
• 22:01
And then we'd be like, I don't know about that.
• 22:02
Just get out in the NBA.
• 22:03
You'll feel better once you're out from under his thumb.
• 22:05
And then they were like, no, I don't think you understand.
• 22:07
We really fucking love our dad.
• 22:09
And I'm like, these three guys, these three like adult men in the NBA are telling everybody.
• 22:16
Our father is like the best dad we could ever ask for.
• 22:19
  We love him.
• 22:20
  He's ridiculous.
• 22:21
  We get that.
• 22:22
And also like, you've never heard any of those kids say a bad word about him.
• 22:26
And to me, it's like, who am I to fucking, like, yes, is he annoying and over the top?
• 22:30
  Yeah.
• 22:31
  So is Deion Sanders.
• 22:32
And I fucking love that dude too.
• 22:33
I mean, granted Deion Sanders is one of the greatest athletes of all time and has an ability
• 22:36
to have the other one made.
• 22:37
And I do think the big baller brand, I do think it's very funny when someone has an
• 22:40
insane ego and outsized personality and like their only thing to back it up is their kids
• 22:44
and their kids are like, we got you, dude.
• 22:46
  I just think it's real.
• 22:47
I think I find him to be like a fascinating character.
• 22:49
And and I think it'll be funny.
• 22:53
I'm glad you think it'll be funny.
• 22:54
  I disagree.
• 22:55
  I find him incredibly annoying.
• 22:56
That being said, I have no wish him no ill will.
• 22:59
I just don't want to be in a position where I have to be back in the Lamar Ball show.
• 23:02
I hated the first go of the Lamar Ball show.
• 23:05
  I don't need it.
• 23:07
If it makes you feel any better, there is no way for it to be the Lamar Ball show when
• 23:11
Anthony Edwards isn't like you can't out.
• 23:13
  Oh, great.
• 23:14
  Now, no, no.
• 23:16
What you just basically told me is we're going to get a fucking feud at some point.
• 23:19
I really don't think it's going to be a feud.
• 23:21
  I absolutely don't think that.
• 23:22
  No, no.
• 23:23
  I think him.
• 23:24
  I think Lamar.
• 23:25
I think Lamar Ball and him are going to have a I just think that Anthony Edwards sort of
• 23:29
has one of those energies that cannot be suppressed or denied, like no matter how it's he sort
• 23:34
of like he no matter how strong the opposing force is, he's going to suck it into his own
• 23:38
  gravity.
• 23:39
  I hope so.
• 23:40
  I hope you're right.
• 23:41
Listen, I'm going to fucking watch if nothing else, I'm going to watch this shit because
• 23:45
  I can't wait.
• 23:46
The Western Conference is must watch television.
• 23:47
Yeah, it just just flat out is and it's in every fucking city.
• 23:51
  The Spurs are must watch.
• 23:52
OK, Sear is must watch fucking Denver because they got Yoke, which is still going to be
• 23:56
  must watch.
• 23:59
  Say what you will.
• 24:00
Golden State can still do something interesting and be very must watch.
• 24:03
  Let's be real clear.
• 24:04
Like Jeff is going to be a must watch until he is not playing basketball.
• 24:08
So like, listen, I for me, I don't even care what the jockeying of position is at this
• 24:13
  point.
• 24:14
The Western Conference is a fucking gauntlet.
• 24:17
You know what's going to happen?
• 24:18
  You said all that.
• 24:19
You know what the Knicks fans are going to hear?
• 24:21
  Disrespect.
• 24:22
I don't fucking care because I know they will.
• 24:26
And I'm just where I go.
• 24:28
I already don't give a shit about you guys.
• 24:32
No, just fucking it's you know, they were a lovely story for a week.
• 24:36
They're only going to ruin it.
• 24:37
  And you fucking know it.
• 24:39
I've called it from day one.
• 24:41
I'm just saying I just kept thinking about that the whole time.
• 24:43
You were like, yeah, all this blah, blah, blah.
• 24:45
And listen, they're going to the White House.
• 24:46
Except are they or are they?
• 24:47
  I don't know.
• 24:48
  The Knicks fans chirping.
• 24:49
We haven't heard any follow up on that.
• 24:51
No, no. Just Jimmy Dolan accepting it on behalf of the players.
• 24:54
I hope it's I hope it really is.
• 24:55
By the way, I saw Jamil Hill, right?
• 24:57
If they said this without checking with the players.
• 25:00
And I just wrote like Jamila, if you think he fucking checked
• 25:04
with the players, you know, come on, you you fucking know what he did.
• 25:09
She's like, oh, you know what?
• 25:11
You got fucking married in Mar-a-Lago.
• 25:13
You think he checked with a single player?
• 25:15
The players when he invited him to MSG.
• 25:17
So I also like their one loss.
• 25:20
I really do hope it's just Jimmy Dolan and Mitchell Robinson,
• 25:23
like just the two of them just go together.
• 25:26
  I think it'd be great.
• 25:27
Just like two person solo trip on the fucking private jet.
• 25:30
I wish they would go do a Jersey thing at Mondavi's house.
• 25:33
Uh, piss off Dolan so much, so much.
• 25:36
I'd do anything for it if they just went to the governor's mansion instead.
• 25:40
  That would be sick.
• 25:42
Wait, why don't they do that?
• 25:43
  They should do that.
• 25:44
  Come on, Jalen Brunson.
• 25:45
Jalen Brunson, if you're listening, by the way, I have beef with Josh Hart
• 25:48
right now, but because he was like in on the like make Becky apologize
• 25:52
  for a sports take bullshit.
• 25:54
Oh, Becky. Oh, Josh, shut up.
• 25:56
  Yeah, like why?
• 25:58
No. Why does she just weren't clear?
• 26:01
Just look like I just want to make this abundantly clear.
• 26:04
  Did I agree with Becky?
• 26:06
Kind of only because the numbers and history had shown that.
• 26:10
By the way, everybody did Becky say anything that wasn't said
• 26:14
by fucking everybody else on that network for fucking a decade.
• 26:19
  Motherfucker, I watched Stephen A.
• 26:20
Smith say that for fucking like six months.
• 26:22
He also talked a shit ton of shit about him when he was coming out of college.
• 26:26
Oh, and his punishment was he went on a stage
• 26:29
and got booed next to Jalen Brunson.
• 26:31
Also, he he is a shame kink, guys.
• 26:34
Like, of course he did that.
• 26:35
Like, like, I don't know, like, well, Stephen A.
• 26:38
  Smith apologized for his take.
• 26:39
  No, we fucking didn't.
• 26:40
  Also, Stephen A.
• 26:41
Smith is a tool all the time.
• 26:44
But suddenly you like how he's been handling it.
• 26:46
  Let's be real clear.
• 26:47
  Shut up. Douchebag.
• 26:48
  Douchebag. Douchebag.
• 26:50
Thank you. I mean, you don't want to apologize.
• 26:52
All that being said, you don't you don't need to hear that from me.
• 26:54
  You fucking know.
• 26:55
  Also us.
• 26:57
So we're apologizing for like sports takes that end up being bad.
• 27:01
Meanwhile, there's all the racism, sexism, misogyny, fucking
• 27:04
like billionaire propaganda going on from the media all the time
• 27:07
that you do not demand apologies forever.
• 27:09
But you demand apology from Becky Hammond for saying that a small point guard
• 27:15
couldn't be a one a player on a title team.
• 27:17
And then she's like, oh, it turns out I was like or she was
• 27:21
essentially was like, yeah, the take at the time made sense.
• 27:24
It was just like he's an anomaly.
• 27:26
I still don't really think that like there's a bunch of players
• 27:29
who could do what Jaylen Brunson did. He was incredible.
• 27:31
He proved everybody wrong, including everybody else who said that.
• 27:35
He's amazing. He deserves his props.
• 27:36
  There's nothing wrong with that.
• 27:38
That's a normal way to respond to it.
• 27:39
Like now, if you come out and you say some bullshit like
• 27:43
Lamar Jackson should be a wide receiver, then you should apologize.
• 27:46
  That's some stupid shit.
• 27:47
  That's some racist ass bullshit.
• 27:49
  Then apologize for that.
• 27:50
But we're not apologizing for regular sports takes.
• 27:53
  No, that's ridiculous.
• 27:54
And Josh Hart, I was on your side.
• 27:57
  I was rooting for you.
• 27:58
And now you piss me off.
• 27:59
Now I'm pissed that O.J. bailed your ass out.
• 28:01
Yeah. O.J. should never have bailed your ass out.
• 28:04
We're only on team O.J. now.
• 28:05
  Only team O.J. forever.
• 28:08
Cat forever. God, I fucking love cat.
• 28:10
  It's my favorite basketball player.
• 28:11
I know. I love how often we somehow managed to say
• 28:13
we love cat on the show for people who aren't like Knicks fans.
• 28:15
Knicks fans, you owe him an apology. Say you're sorry.
• 28:18
  You know what, Timberwolves fans?
• 28:19
You do, too, while we're at it.
• 28:21
America, you owe cat an apology. Say you're sorry.
• 28:24
  Kardashians, you too, actually.
• 28:25
Actually, no, stay out of this. Don't go near cat.
• 28:28
Don't you fucking go near cat.
• 28:30
Jordan Woods, they were an adorable couple.
• 28:32
Don't you fucking come near them.
• 28:34
Don't you ruin our fucking lovely cat.
• 28:38
I have speaking of being a little bit pissed about what's going on in NBA
• 28:42
conversation, we've got to talk about what this is about.
• 28:45
I know what this is about. I know what this is about.
• 28:46
Here, let me do this one. I want to do this one.
• 28:47
I want to do this one.
• 28:49
  How pissed off are you?
• 28:50
Because there's no chance in hell Jalen Brown is going to continue
• 28:52
playing for your Celtics. It's clear they're trying to shop them.
• 28:55
They have now been left with so much egg on their face.
• 28:58
Such a bad look all around.
• 29:00
  It's fucking hilarious.
• 29:03
The guy was your MVP this whole season.
• 29:06
He was the MVP of the finals.
• 29:08
And somehow, some way you guys want him gone so bad.
• 29:14
And it's so you guys, by the way, fucking not the fans, not the fans.
• 29:17
  But here's the thing.
• 29:19
Don't say you guys to me.
• 29:20
Well, whoever the fuck wants this done, the Celtics want it done.
• 29:25
I don't get it. No one gets it.
• 29:27
  But OK.
• 29:30
How do you feel about it?
• 29:31
Because if I was you, I'd be fucking pissed.
• 29:35
So but by the way, weird this.
• 29:37
There's this weird belief that somehow Celtics fans are the ones
• 29:40
who have ever hated on Jalen Brown.
• 29:42
  And that's not just you.
• 29:43
I've seen that. I said it earlier on threads.
• 29:45
I'm like, where's this fucking coming from?
• 29:46
Have you not seen national media try to do this?
• 29:49
Like Jason Tatum versus Jalen Brown shit for the last fucking five years.
• 29:51
  This is not our shit.
• 29:52
We've always loved the both of them.
• 29:54
We always wanted the both of them.
• 29:56
We never want to get rid of Jalen Brown.
• 29:57
Now you guys are all fucking insane.
• 29:59
  I disagree. Really? Here's why.
• 30:01
  Here's why I did.
• 30:03
I did a bit of video about this maybe two days ago.
• 30:07
The Celtics clearly believe that Jalen Brown,
• 30:11
they value how good he is as a talent based on what they're asking for.
• 30:15
What they got an offer in the offer
• 30:17
that they were given by the Bucks for Giannis was as much as they're going to
• 30:21
garner, they turned it down there.
• 30:24
They keep listening to offers waiting for something to get better than that.
• 30:27
I mean, we know Ants is staying where he's staying.
• 30:30
  LaMelo's there.
• 30:31
Like who the fuck else is out there that you're going to now
• 30:34
take a downgrade in that trade?
• 30:35
So I don't know where that goes.
• 30:38
Do I think that Brad's so part of the reason
• 30:41
I think they can salvage their relationship with Jalen Brown
• 30:44
is that I do genuinely believe it's very likely this new ownership group
• 30:48
  doing new ownership group shit.
• 30:50
They had Jalen Brown and trade talks back in twenty twenty two
• 30:53
during the Kevin Durant moving on from Phoenix Sun stuff or whatever,
• 30:57
whatever the fuck it was or before he moved on from the Suns.
• 31:00
And that was a whole thing.
• 31:03
I don't know what Brad Stevens, how he feels about it.
• 31:05
Joe Missoula is like he's fine.
• 31:08
His relationship with Jalen Brown is fine.
• 31:10
And this feels to me like an ownership group and a front office
• 31:15
that is doing the bullshit that they always do, where they're like, OK,
• 31:20
how do we maximize this massive asset at the fucking prime of because
• 31:26
Jalen Brown's never going to be more valuable than he is right now
• 31:29
after carrying the Celtics, being almost an MVP coming off of the year
• 31:33
  where he won finals MVP.
• 31:34
They're looking at him and this is what they fucking do.
• 31:37
And you and I both agree that this is the grossest part of sports.
• 31:40
  Like he's a fucking asset.
• 31:41
Yes. And he has accumulated as much value as he possibly can.
• 31:45
It will never get better than this.
• 31:46
We have to sell now. We have to sell high.
• 31:48
It's never going to get higher.
• 31:49
  Yes, that is what's happening.
• 31:52
I don't believe that Brad Stevens doesn't think
• 31:55
he can build a team around Jalen and Jason like I genuinely think he can.
• 31:59
They take up about 70 percent of the cap with their current
• 32:03
with their current contracts this year.
• 32:05
Steph and Clay took up 75 percent of their cap
• 32:08
when they won their last title.
• 32:11
There's ways to build around this.
• 32:13
There's it's actually not impossible, especially when the two players
• 32:17
you're paying are two of the best players in the NBA and know very well
• 32:21
how to play together and play very well together and won a fucking title together.
• 32:24
So there is no explanation for this other than a very capitalistic
• 32:31
hedge fund group billionaire looking at him as an asset.
• 32:36
If he's not going to get the return, Jalen Brown's not going anywhere.
• 32:40
And for for everything that people say about Jalen Brown,
• 32:45
as if he's going to like show up and be awful to his teammates
• 32:48
and his coach and whatever else because of this,
• 32:50
he's never done that and he never is going to do that.
• 32:53
Why do they want him to do this?
• 32:55
Why do they want him to be miserable, too?
• 32:56
Like there's there's this weird thing of it's like, oh, well, Jalen Brown's
• 32:59
going to really hate having to go back to.
• 33:01
Hey, I don't want by the way, I don't want this for Jalen Brown.
• 33:03
  He deserves so much better.
• 33:05
He deserves so much better than the way the Celtics have treated him publicly
• 33:09
to have these leaks constantly, to have this all out there,
• 33:12
to know what Jan has offered these leaks that are going to Shams and whoever else.
• 33:16
  He deserves so much better.
• 33:17
You can say this is a business, whatever else.
• 33:19
But I have been covering sports my entire adult life,
• 33:22
and I still don't believe that we have to treat players like they're commodities
• 33:26
because we don't treat fucking GMs and owners or anyone else like this.
• 33:30
They don't have to prove their value and their worth.
• 33:32
  We've talked about this before.
• 33:33
Owners get to be bad owners.
• 33:35
In fact, GMs get to be bad gyms for a long time.
• 33:38
The players don't get to fucking be MVP caliber players without us saying,
• 33:41
hey, maybe they've earned the right to stay in the city
• 33:43
where they've contributed more to their neighborhoods
• 33:46
and their community and that fucking city than anybody else.
• 33:50
Then we don't get to say, hey, show like a slight bit of loyalty
• 33:53
to a fucking player in their prime.
• 33:55
I'm not asking you to hang on to 2010 Shaq here, OK?
• 33:59
  Like Jesus Christ.
• 34:01
So that's how I feel about it.
• 34:02
  Thank you for asking.
• 34:04
How do you feel about it, Cody? I'm fine.
• 34:07
Anyways, the next topic we have is the Mets fire manager card.
• 34:14
What do you want to do?
• 34:15
  There is no take.
• 34:16
I think this is fucking comical.
• 34:18
I think I think I think no, truly.
• 34:21
My only take is I think this entire thing is funny.
• 34:23
  I think it's funny.
• 34:24
I think the Celtics are now people fully got the topic.
• 34:27
Just say the topic fully, because you know, I was going to the next topic
• 34:31
as a joke. That's the joke.
• 34:33
  It's a yes and moment.
• 34:35
No, I'm I'm finishing out the Jalen Brown top.
• 34:37
  Oh, I think it's comical.
• 34:39
That's all. That is my takeaway from that.
• 34:41
  It is all funny.
• 34:43
It is a mess of their own design.
• 34:45
  Whoever is leaked.
• 34:46
This out is put the Celtics in a very tough spot and Jalen.
• 34:49
And I think it is absolutely hysterical to the point
• 34:53
where I think they will end up moving him for less than they did
• 34:57
  for less than he's worth.
• 34:59
  I don't I don't I don't see it.
• 35:01
  We'll see. I will see.
• 35:02
I guess technically anything is possible.
• 35:05
But as KG, anything is possible.
• 35:08
That's not what KG meant, guys.
• 35:11
This is possible, just like KG said.
• 35:13
But Brad Stevens, man, that's like a that's like a I quit level offense.
• 35:17
Like if he make if they make him trade him for less than he's worth.
• 35:20
  I really don't.
• 35:21
I mean, you have to remember Brad Stevens like drafted him like he has a real
• 35:25
  relationship with Jalen.
• 35:26
By the way, a complete side note.
• 35:27
You were talking about how treating players like commodities.
• 35:30
I mean, this is what you get in a salary capped league
• 35:32
when you have every single player that it's in a set
• 35:35
list of numbers of commodity, basically.
• 35:37
  They that's all they become.
• 35:39
  They become that literal number.
• 35:41
And that number is now preset for the history of the world.
• 35:44
  That's done. It's over with.
• 35:45
Now the player can't actually expand past their actual value,
• 35:48
which, by the way, is bullshit, which we're not even talking about the CBA today
• 35:52
  coming Major League Baseball.
• 35:54
But I'm telling you the fucking there ain't going to be baseball next year
• 35:58
because right now the union and the and the fucking players association,
• 36:03
they're speaking a different language and it's this language.
• 36:06
It's basically turning those players into a commodity
• 36:09
and it almost outrageously gross, gross
• 36:13
and over the top evil fashion. Yeah.
• 36:17
We should not be having any of these conversations in the NBA
• 36:20
about moving guys because of salary cap hits, but we do.
• 36:23
And it turns it takes the humanity out of the game almost entirely.
• 36:26
It turns them into cogs on a wheel.
• 36:28
By the way, to your point, MLB, listen closely.
• 36:33
The Celtics signed both Jalen and Jason
• 36:37
to these Max Supermax contracts, knowing that they were trying to get a title,
• 36:43
see how much they could work with on those contracts.
• 36:46
This these contracts didn't come out of nowhere.
• 36:48
They didn't wake up one morning and think, oh, God,
• 36:51
where did Jalen start making all this money?
• 36:53
They fucking signed them to the contracts under the guys.
• 36:57
By the way, these guys signed the contract saying our expectation
• 37:00
is that we're staying with the Celtics, the both of us.
• 37:02
They both knew that there was a whole conversation around it
• 37:04
when they signed Jason Tatum after signing Jalen Brown.
• 37:08
  This is not.
• 37:10
So, MLB, don't get like truly do not.
• 37:13
MLB players do not make this fucking mistake.
• 37:15
Like, do you want to live in a world where people are talking about
• 37:18
what they can get for Shohei Ohtani because he was just an MVP
• 37:23
and now like now they can't afford the rest?
• 37:26
Do you really want to fucking live in that world?
• 37:28
I also want to get away from this.
• 37:30
Like, it's a free fucking market in Shohei Ohtani.
• 37:33
If we're going to talk commodities, is a commodity that's generated
• 37:36
more money than his entire contract is worth and then some.
• 37:40
So frankly, I love these billionaires who love fucking free markets.
• 37:45
  So they don't.
• 37:46
That's such a that's such a good fucking point, because.
• 37:50
That obviously is it like it makes so much sense
• 37:53
in the terms of of Major League Baseball, but like I think about that all the time.
• 37:57
I actually just had this thought process
• 37:59
making a video just sitting in my stairwell thinking about this.
• 38:02
Whereas like Tom Brady made however much money he made in the NFL, right?
• 38:07
Like he always took team friendly deals, but he was on a high end,
• 38:09
  higher end paid of quarterbacks.
• 38:10
He was never fucking broke, made whatever, let's say,
• 38:13
300 million dollars across his career, which, you know, roughly
• 38:15
he played a long time ago.
• 38:18
The amount of money that he and Bill Belichick made.
• 38:24
Robert Kraft is 10 times over that Robert Kraft was worth
• 38:29
like 500 million dollars, and then within 10 years was worth six billion.
• 38:33
Yeah, that's not because Robert Kraft is a genius businessman.
• 38:36
It was because of two people.
• 38:38
And that's it. Inarguably, no fucking question.
• 38:42
Bill Belichick and Tom Brady made a man who was not worth a billion dollars
• 38:46
into somebody who is now worth seven to eight billion dollars.
• 38:50
  That is crazy.
• 38:51
And we're like, I don't know, man, I think he needs to take a pay cut.
• 38:55
  Are you fucking crazy?
• 38:57
Nobody has generated more fucking wealth for billionaires
• 39:00
than these individual fucking players, these individual athletes.
• 39:04
  You're telling me that.
• 39:06
Oh, my God. Like we've watched it with our own two eyes.
• 39:10
I am. I feel like I'm fucking taking crazy.
• 39:13
Yes, that's what I feel like.
• 39:15
Because everyone tries to make the business argument.
• 39:18
  Well, we can't afford it.
• 39:19
No, not only can you afford it, you market it correctly.
• 39:22
You're going to make your money back. And then some.
• 39:24
Yeah, I just don't know what else to tell you,
• 39:27
because it does lead into this next topic, which the next topic is.
• 39:30
Carlos Mendoza has been fired from the New York Mets as their manager.
• 39:34
  Very understandable.
• 39:36
Disastrous start. Is it his fault?
• 39:38
  Probably not.
• 39:39
But somebody has to be fucking shot for it.
• 39:42
And it's going to be Carlos Mendoza.
• 39:44
By the way, Mets disastrous start.
• 39:46
Second highest payroll in Major League Baseball.
• 39:49
  Very high payroll.
• 39:50
  So let's be real clear.
• 39:52
It has nothing to do with what you're how much money you're fucking spending.
• 39:55
It has to do with what you're spending your money on,
• 39:57
how you're allocating your funds and a decent amount of luck
• 40:01
and a lot of other contributing factors.
• 40:03
How deep is your farm system?
• 40:04
How good your developmental? How good your medical?
• 40:07
How are you properly running these guys out in the field?
• 40:10
Are you optimizing the very best out of your team?
• 40:12
Because I'm looking at this team and I'm looking at the Dodgers
• 40:15
and I'm talking about the Dodgers almost every single fucking day.
• 40:17
  And you know what?
• 40:18
The Dodgers do better than everyone else.
• 40:20
They do fucking everything better than everyone else.
• 40:23
They spend money better than everyone else.
• 40:25
They fucking develop better than anyone else.
• 40:27
And I'm tired of this thing.
• 40:29
Well, we can't compete with the Dodgers money.
• 40:31
The best players in the Dodgers.
• 40:32
  Let's take Shohei Ohtani.
• 40:33
The Mets are competing with their money, right?
• 40:35
They're competing with the Dodgers with their money,
• 40:36
but they sure as hell aren't competing on the field.
• 40:38
  That's what I'm saying.
• 40:38
  So they're a perfect example.
• 40:40
  So they're a perfect example.
• 40:41
Best team in the game in the game and the third worst team in the National League.
• 40:44
  Let's be very similar payroll.
• 40:46
And by the way, who are the Dodgers winning with right now?
• 40:48
So you take Shohei Ohtani out of it.
• 40:50
Fucking Max Maxman seems making 10 million dollars is having a very good season.
• 40:55
  Love Max. Andy Paez.
• 40:57
He is doing very he's killing it, but he's on, you know, Major League
• 41:00
minimum salary. Yeah, we got Miguel Rojas having a great season.
• 41:05
  Very low salary.
• 41:06
We got let's see, Justin Robleski.
• 41:10
He's got a two nine era and he's got like nine wins.
• 41:13
The Major League minimum Alex Call has been playing left field.
• 41:16
That's hey, Oscar Hernandez has been injured.
• 41:18
Oh, you're saying Alex Call is not a superstar.
• 41:20
No, he's also, I believe, making Major League minimum.
• 41:22
Dalton Rushing has been catching lately and while Will Smith is injured.
• 41:25
So all the high prize guys are either fucking injured or underperforming
• 41:28
  right now.
• 41:29
Yet the Dodgers have the best record in baseball.
• 41:32
  Their depth is stupid.
• 41:34
Their pitching right now is stupid.
• 41:36
They're going to have to figure out who they're going to have to send down
• 41:38
  to the minor leagues.
• 41:39
Hassan Kim has got a lot of votes for the All-Star game.
• 41:43
  He is currently in Triple-A.
• 41:45
Yeah, their depth is stupid and they develop that depth.
• 41:49
The Mets have no depth and what they have called up hasn't really amounted to much
• 41:53
and what they have paid for is amounted to absolute dick.
• 41:57
So explain to me how spending money on your roster equates to wins
• 42:02
because there is no real data that says that entirely.
• 42:06
  Do you remember those?
• 42:07
Like, I think it was like late 2000s, early 2010s.
• 42:12
Philly teams, Philadelphia, Philadelphia Eagles, sorry.
• 42:15
Eagles teams where it used to be like and like all of these fucking pro bowlers,
• 42:19
they'd bring in all these fucking free agents, the whole like roster
• 42:22
would look stacked and then they'd like maybe make the playoffs
• 42:25
or lose in the first round.
• 42:26
Every year we did the same fucking thing with those with those rosters.
• 42:29
We've done it with the Los Angeles Chargers.
• 42:30
We've done it with a lot of Yankees teams.
• 42:32
We've done it with a lot of teams where it's just like you accumulate
• 42:36
this surface level group of talent
• 42:39
with none of the infrastructure that you just perfectly laid out
• 42:43
that the Dodgers Institute are unbelievable at it.
• 42:46
And now I'm looking at the Carlos Mendoza thing, right?
• 42:48
It's like this is the exercise I always do with myself to say, like, do like,
• 42:52
you know, what is actually the change you have to make?
• 42:55
  Do you know?
• 42:56
Because the Red Sox have done this repeatedly for the last like five, six years.
• 42:59
They've just fired whoever they can blame to get out from underneath
• 43:01
and just hopes that we all forget whoever they fire.
• 43:04
I have to do some more firing, right?
• 43:06
They just keep firing people, not fixing anything.
• 43:09
So I think about this is my exercise.
• 43:11
  Swap managers give Carlos Mendoza
• 43:14
the Dodgers give David Roberts the Mets.
• 43:17
I think Dave Roberts is one of the best managers in baseball.
• 43:20
I agree. I literally like could not.
• 43:23
I mean, put him in the Hall of Fame as a manager.
• 43:25
I think he's he will be right.
• 43:29
Carlos Mendoza, not nearly the pedigree on that front.
• 43:35
Swap them. I'll tell you right now, who's the better team?
• 43:37
It's still the fucking Dodgers, because that's how managing works in baseball.
• 43:41
  This is not football.
• 43:43
You do not need to have seven fucking days of the kind of
• 43:47
basically like college level coursework to prepare for a fucking game.
• 43:51
Baseball managing is a very specific thing.
• 43:53
It doesn't mean there's not a talent to it.
• 43:55
It does not mean that there is not a like skill to it.
• 43:57
It does not mean that clubhouse and all vibes and the dugout
• 44:00
and all that stuff doesn't matter.
• 44:01
It does not mean that in-game management doesn't matter, but it's not the NFL.
• 44:06
Swap those two motherfuckers and the better coach,
• 44:09
better manager is struggling on the Mets.
• 44:13
  It's just a fact. Yeah.
• 44:15
  It's not Carlos Mendoza.
• 44:16
  It's not Carlos Mendoza's fault.
• 44:18
It just is what it is.
• 44:19
I'm sorry that he lost his job.
• 44:21
Andy Green will be taking over in the interim.
• 44:23
Former manager of the San Diego Padres.
• 44:24
So we will see what happens for the Mets.
• 44:27
I highly doubt they're going to turn it around.
• 44:28
That's not the same way the Phillies turned it around
• 44:30
when they brought in Donny Baseball to kind of take over operations.
• 44:33
But by the way, Donny Baseball might be up for manager of the year
• 44:35
  the way the Phillies playing.
• 44:37
You know what? I love that. Me too.
• 44:38
I unfortunately always love the Phillies.
• 44:40
Just is what it is. I love the Phillies.
• 44:42
Well, that takes us away from our headlines right now.
• 44:44
Let's get over to media corner
• 44:46
because we got a few things on media corner to discuss.
• 44:48
And I hate that Boomer is in it.
• 44:50
Yeah. Luckily, he's it's not just him.
• 44:52
He's in a group of a bunch of fucking awful losers. Yeah.
• 44:55
OK, so Coward has absolutely struck my last nerve.
• 44:58
I have tried very hard to cut my guy slack for a long time.
• 45:00
  I really, really respected him.
• 45:02
He's really losing it very, very quickly.
• 45:04
He is one of the crowd of over 50 white people
• 45:09
ranging from 50s to 70s at this point who are
• 45:14
in a in a spiral, in a panic. Yeah.
• 45:18
Around Caitlyn Clark and how she is being treated by the WNBA.
• 45:23
I'm going to give you a couple of things that are being said.
• 45:27
We're going to start with Coward.
• 45:28
OK, now. Oh, just to set the stage for anybody who doesn't know.
• 45:32
Caitlyn Clark takes a foul from Alyssa Thomas
• 45:36
against the Mercury the other day. Yes.
• 45:38
  Caitlyn fell.
• 45:39
Alyssa fell on top of her getting up.
• 45:41
Alyssa's fist ends up in her throat.
• 45:43
You can you can we don't need to argue whether or not it was intentional.
• 45:46
It was largely it was uncalled and like honestly kind of ignored in the game.
• 45:50
  Nobody really reacted to it.
• 45:52
Later on, it became a flagrant to she got a suspension.
• 45:55
  Alyssa Thomas got a suspension.
• 45:56
And by the way, Alyssa Thomas, one of the best NBA players in the league.
• 46:01
And that became a whole thing where we're talking about
• 46:04
like people putting out statements about Caitlyn safety and whatever else. Right.
• 46:09
Yeah, it's been a fucking lot.
• 46:11
  Then just so we're clear, there's a there's a 30th anniversary
• 46:16
poster put out with a bunch of players.
• 46:19
There's a player from every single team.
• 46:21
Both past and present teams on this poster.
• 46:25
The aggrieved whites noticed that Caitlyn Clark was not on it,
• 46:30
and it caused an absolute fucking meltdown.
• 46:35
Here's Colin melting down the WNBA.
• 46:37
They just keep driving into a wall at full speed with Caitlyn Clark.
• 46:40
They now have a commemorative poster of 30 years of the WNBA.
• 46:42
  Caitlyn Clark's not on it.
• 46:43
It's not just an ode to the veterans that started the league.
• 46:46
Paige Becker's and Angel Reese are on it, and Caitlyn's not.
• 46:50
When she broke into the league,
• 46:52
you moved her road games to bigger arenas to accommodate fans.
• 46:55
And she's not on the 30 poster.
• 46:57
But Paige Becker's and Angel Reese are.
• 46:59
This is a paranoid, weird insular league.
• 47:01
Kathy Engelbert, what are you doing?
• 47:03
I mean, you're not heavily promoting her for the Olympics.
• 47:05
You should have been totally outraged for the game.
• 47:07
You can't put her on the 30 year poster.
• 47:10
  The officiating is awful now.
• 47:15
Do you know why Caitlyn Clark very likely wasn't on that poster, Cody?
• 47:20
  Please explain.
• 47:22
Per, unfortunately, Darren Revell, who I did fact check, and he was correct here.
• 47:26
I'm sorry that happened to you.
• 47:27
The reason why Caitlyn is not on this poster is you ready?
• 47:30
  Caitlyn Clark herself.
• 47:32
Other than Nike, Clark owns licenses like Wynncraft,
• 47:35
who makes this to only use her name and number, not her likeness.
• 47:40
Moving on, the disrespect card was fun for a day.
• 47:43
Other than Nike, Clark does not license to anyone
• 47:48
her image, and so they would have had to either pay.
• 47:52
Well, first of all, she would have had to allow them to pay.
• 47:55
First of all, the fact of the matter is Caitlyn Clark's not on that poster
• 47:58
because everybody thought Sophie Cunningham was the better choice.
• 48:01
Now, I don't know about Kelsey Mitchell and Aaliyah Boston.
• 48:04
I don't know why they're not on the poster, but that's neither here nor there.
• 48:06
  I think we know why.
• 48:07
At the end of the day, they would put Caitlyn Clark on the fucking poster.
• 48:10
She does not have the licensing, which is the same reason
• 48:12
and likely why they don't have Diana Taurasi on the fucking poster,
• 48:14
  which is the same reason.
• 48:15
Likely, they don't have my more on the fucking poster.
• 48:17
It's actually not that big of a fucking deal.
• 48:19
Now, moving on, Christine Brennan says the league desperately needs
• 48:23
for her presence, Caitlyn Clark, for its financial future
• 48:26
is all the possibilities the WNBA is squandering.
• 48:30
It's especially aggravating about Engelbert's inability to give Clark
• 48:34
her due and keep her safe when the league desperately needs
• 48:37
her presence for its financial future.
• 48:41
Many women who grew up playing sports at the beginning of Title
• 48:44
nine, women like Engelbert and me dreamed of a time when a woman's sport
• 48:48
athlete would take over the nation the way Clark has.
• 48:51
Team sports were always strictly the domain of men.
• 48:54
Women excelled in the Olympics, tennis and golf, but team sports.
• 48:57
  They were not ours.
• 48:58
She is aggrieved that we are not bowing down to the savior of women's sports.
• 49:03
  Caitlyn Clark.
• 49:03
And finally, Boomer Esiason said that they are
• 49:07
they should be treating Caitlyn Clark like royalty.
• 49:09
And the fact that they're not means
• 49:10
that she should just go play in Europe and make her money over there
• 49:13
because she's not getting treated right.
• 49:17
Cody, I'm going to ask you a specific question.
• 49:21
I'm going to ask you a specific question.
• 49:22
  Yeah.
• 49:23
Did have you heard of women's sports before Caitlyn Clark or did she just
• 49:26
did she introduce you to women?
• 49:27
Actually, did you know about women before that or by any chance did?
• 49:31
  Was it Caitlyn?
• 49:32
Well, it's funny you mentioned that.
• 49:37
Yeah, I was aware that you lady folk occasionally play sports.
• 49:41
OK, I was aware of women.
• 49:44
OK, I hear you have vaginas.
• 49:46
  Yeah, that is cool.
• 49:48
Yeah, very. Because we don't have that. Right.
• 49:50
  Yeah, sort of.
• 49:50
  So it's like you're a different species.
• 49:52
  Yeah, the other. Yeah.
• 49:54
But man, you guys play sports.
• 49:56
  It's fucking cool.
• 49:57
So so your first introduction to that entire concept was I imagine.
• 50:02
  It's just it's just one.
• 50:05
I want to I want to actually commend everybody in here.
• 50:08
Every every name you just gave.
• 50:11
I want to commend each one of them.
• 50:13
Each one of them found a completely different angle
• 50:18
  to grift bullshit.
• 50:21
  That is fucking astonishing.
• 50:24
Every single angle was a different attack
• 50:28
of on this one warring subject.
• 50:30
And each one was a very impressive fucking dagger of bullshit
• 50:36
that fucking they've got themselves convinced in in such a way.
• 50:40
  Holy shit.
• 50:41
You would think this woman is just so under attack.
• 50:44
She should she should boycott the league because she's
• 50:48
  being dared to be challenged.
• 50:50
In fact, everyone should fucking just give her the lane
• 50:53
and let her play basketball by herself.
• 50:55
Let's call it the Caitlin Clark fucking league.
• 50:58
  There's Boomer Sison.
• 51:00
I really want to know this.
• 51:01
Ever one fucking time said that about anyone of color in any sport?
• 51:06
No. If Caitlin Clark don't have to look it up.
• 51:10
If Caitlin, like I'm just saying, he said something similar to,
• 51:13
I don't know, Lamar Jackson or fucking anybody that.
• 51:17
How about Cam Newton when he was getting new literated?
• 51:22
Did he have anything nice to say about any of the African-American
• 51:25
quarterbacks at the Met that the Jets have had over the last decade?
• 51:29
Has he already started railing against fucking Gino Smith?
• 51:32
Like, I just want to know because I want to know the Venn diagram
• 51:35
because I've never heard him talk about the WNBA outside of Caitlin Clark.
• 51:40
And I do appreciate that the WNBA and I do appreciate
• 51:44
that Caitlin Clark is bringing these eyeballs to the game.
• 51:47
But the fucking fact that you're bringing all the victims
• 51:51
to the game that are so desperate to be victimized by this fucking game
• 51:55
that the I don't what the fuck is this universe that I'm in?
• 52:01
I feel like I got to get back to earth before the fucking Stargate closes.
• 52:05
For a while, for a long time, longer probably than you would than you would believe.
• 52:10
I also felt like, OK, at the very least, Caitlin Clark has brought
• 52:14
the eyeballs to the game, like you said.
• 52:16
Her presence has brought the eyeballs to the game.
• 52:20
I have I have decided that's not quite what happened.
• 52:24
I've looked over the stats, the numbers and how everything went down.
• 52:27
And the reality is the league was on an upswing when she came into it.
• 52:32
They were already these valuations on these teams were skyrocketing
• 52:36
when she came into it. Her presence.
• 52:41
Was something that helped bring a massive influx of viewership to the league
• 52:45
and then helped them secure all the things we've talked about over the last few.
• 52:49
  I would agree with that.
• 52:50
But what really happened was that.
• 52:56
Racism helped bring the fucking WNBA
• 53:00
into this is what happens, there was a cognitive dissonance around.
• 53:04
We are going to enter this space because of racism.
• 53:09
I need you to understand point blank.
• 53:11
There is one fucking starting point where Caitlin Clark becomes a national
• 53:15
  conversation.
• 53:17
It we this is not hyperbole.
• 53:19
This is not conjecture. This is a fact.
• 53:21
Caitlin Clark becomes the center of national conversation.
• 53:24
  In twenty twenty three.
• 53:27
  In the finals against LSU.
• 53:29
When Angel Reese beating her ass end of the game.
• 53:34
You can't see me shot of her.
• 53:36
You can't see me, Caitlin blurred out in the front.
• 53:40
Everything changes for both Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark in that moment.
• 53:45
  Angel Reese, national champion
• 53:47
Caitlin Clark goes back, never wins a title, ends up the number one draft pick.
• 53:52
But after that, that's when Caitlin Clark became a fucking star.
• 53:55
It's when Angel Reese, who already was making more money
• 53:58
than Caitlin Clark prior to that moment, Angel Reese was the larger star,
• 54:03
made Caitlin Clark a conversation much like Magic Johnson, Larry Bird
• 54:08
in the late 1970s, early 1980s, right? This whole.
• 54:13
White people see middle America, straight white girl and the black woman
• 54:17
who's the the antagonist to that, you know, and they create a story.
• 54:22
Great. You know what? Fucking great.
• 54:24
  Tale as old as time.
• 54:25
Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark and their rivalry, rivalry
• 54:29
bring in an influx of interest from both well-meaning fans
• 54:33
and non well-meaning fans, but the reality is what we have seen
• 54:37
from the very beginning is that the only thing Caitlin Clark has ever achieved
• 54:40
as a real, genuine basketball star
• 54:43
was being a great scorer in her final year in college.
• 54:47
Across the college, she was like a great scorer.
• 54:49
Obviously, that's how you set the record straight.
• 54:50
But like. The that's this is not this is not Caitlin being
• 54:56
one of the best college players of all time.
• 54:59
That's not why people tuned in.
• 55:00
It's not because she's one of the best WNBA players of all time.
• 55:03
She's not. It's not because she's in a top 10 WNBA player right now.
• 55:06
She's not. She is a totem.
• 55:09
  She is a token.
• 55:11
She is a thing that people project their racism onto,
• 55:15
and they use that as a way to get into this thing and to demean them.
• 55:20
Now, do I think that some people are watching Caitlin really like her
• 55:24
and then ended up loving the WNBA?
• 55:26
  I do. I think it's a lot of people.
• 55:27
I think it's a lot more people than there that are than are willing to admit
• 55:30
that that's the case, because the WNBA is fucking awesome.
• 55:33
And I do think there is a thing that's happening
• 55:36
where it's actually breaking down because there is a massive backlash
• 55:39
  to Caitlin Clark this season.
• 55:41
She is not well-liked, and her defenders are getting more and more angry
• 55:45
about that because that big group of people who once said we were being
• 55:48
we were wrong about Caitlin Clark is starting to get real quiet.
• 55:51
And they're fucking dream and Lynx fans.
• 55:53
  Now we converted your asses.
• 55:54
  How does that fucking feel?
• 55:56
  It has worked.
• 55:57
And I think that's fucking amazing.
• 55:59
But it was never Caitlin Clark.
• 56:00
It was always the great white hype, the great white hope.
• 56:03
It had nothing to do with anything other than a couple of fucking three point
• 56:07
  records. And that was that.
• 56:10
And I am like the one little good takeaway that I want to make sure
• 56:14
people understand is that the WNBA, the greatness of that league,
• 56:17
the greatness of those women, black, white, queer, straight or otherwise,
• 56:21
has converted people into genuine fans, not Caitlin Clark.
• 56:29
  Yes. Thanks for listening.
• 56:32
  On to the next time.
• 56:33
Sorry, I know that was a TED Talk is fuck thing.
• 56:35
I really do appreciate you letting me get that.
• 56:38
  I agree with you.
• 56:38
I 100 percent think she is this dog whistle
• 56:41
that lives in human women basketball for.
• 56:44
  That's what she is.
• 56:45
And by the way, her human dog whistle really is exactly right.
• 56:48
I don't and by the way, I don't entirely I don't blame her for this, by the way.
• 56:51
  I do think I do.
• 56:52
  I listen.
• 56:53
I do. I think that there have been times where she plays into it a couple of times.
• 56:56
I think she I think it's all she does. Possibly.
• 56:59
But I also I'm also aware she's just a basketball player
• 57:02
who doesn't like her calls, complains quite a bit.
• 57:04
And I think that's just kind of a personality.
• 57:07
Now, do I agree that there are some photos of her with country singers
• 57:10
that we think are complete dog shit pieces?
• 57:12
  One hundred percent.
• 57:13
You know what? That's I will say that's not even like the most egregious.
• 57:16
OK, I don't think that's actually the most agree.
• 57:18
What have I missed? What have I not noticed?
• 57:20
So as somebody who if you're genuinely anti-racist,
• 57:24
the worst thing that you can imagine is that people constantly use you
• 57:27
to attack black women to attack.
• 57:29
So you would say something about it? No, I understand that as well.
• 57:32
So, I mean, I used an example in my video recently about Isaiah Thomas
• 57:35
and Larry Bird, you know, about Isaiah Thomas.
• 57:37
  Yes, I did.
• 57:37
In the late 1980s and what Larry Bird did. It was very fucking easy.
• 57:40
It was, I mean, not easy.
• 57:42
It was actually not easy at all.
• 57:42
He had to fucking do a goddamn press conference in the middle of the NBA finals.
• 57:47
He had to sit down next to Isaiah Thomas, look everybody in the eye
• 57:49
in front of live cameras and microphones and say,
• 57:53
hey, this isn't bothering me. It shouldn't bother you.
• 57:55
He's a great player. I understand what happened. We're cool.
• 57:58
  My family loves Isaiah.
• 57:59
Isaiah is great. Shut the fuck up.
• 58:01
And by the way, I'm out of here. I have to go play a finals game.
• 58:03
So you guys done? We're done. We're good. Cool.
• 58:05
And Isaiah Thomas in that moment was like, I think Larry Bird
• 58:08
  just saved my goddamn career.
• 58:10
What? All because him and Dennis Rodman were joking about
• 58:12
how he might not be as great if he weren't white.
• 58:14
Oh, all right. Like this is that's all it took.
• 58:18
And when I'm when I see, I mean,
• 58:21
they are slow motion replaying Alyssa Thomas's blackface
• 58:24
on her white neck on fucking Good Morning America.
• 58:27
I can tell you what I would be fucking doing, and it wouldn't be letting
• 58:30
the fever put out a whiny ass statement about me being protected.
• 58:34
I'd be on a fucking microphone looking dead in the eye and being like,
• 58:37
by the way, I don't even like Alyssa Thomas,
• 58:39
and I hope you never fucking ever use my name to attack her
• 58:43
or any other black woman ever again.
• 58:44
And but while we're here, shut the fuck about it up about Angel Reese.
• 58:48
  It's not that hard.
• 58:49
And as much as she would lose from those maggot idiots
• 58:53
that she seems to agree with, but by the way, her her boyfriend's
• 58:55
Magga, her fucking favorite country stars are Magga.
• 58:58
I don't know. I'm just doing the fucking math.
• 59:00
As much as she would lose, she would gain tenfold.
• 59:03
You know, she's definitely a little victim.
• 59:05
  That's the way it goes.
• 59:06
Listen, I agree with everything you're saying.
• 59:08
She is a living, breathing dog whistle. Yeah, I know you do.
• 59:10
I'm just to this point because she hasn't done a ton.
• 59:15
I'm not I'm going to give her at least right now to have your opinion.
• 59:18
That being said, it doesn't mean the other people
• 59:20
that are fucking doing all of this bullshit.
• 59:23
They're not getting the benefit of the doubt.
• 59:24
I know exactly what you're fucking doing.
• 59:25
You know exactly what you're fucking doing.
• 59:27
  You're not fooling anybody.
• 59:28
I will say I'm low on benefit of the doubt for like a lot of people.
• 59:31
I get it to be fair.
• 59:32
Like, I mean, it's I get it. No, no, you're right.
• 59:35
Then on this point, I'm not even sure I actually mean,
• 59:38
I think it's just a phrase I fucking say at this point.
• 59:41
Anyways, let's get over to the final thing.
• 59:43
And this one's kind of fucking wild.
• 59:46
When I say wild, it's just a bunch of little man babies
• 59:49
getting all pissy and bent out of shape because, oh, my God,
• 59:52
did you know that one of the leading fucking writers in the NFL
• 59:55
made a really good fucking salary?
• 59:57
Oh, she also been in the gig for like, I don't know, like 15 fucking years,
• 1:00:01
  20 fucking years.
• 1:00:03
No shit. Diana Rossini was making eight hundred thousand dollars.
• 1:00:07
  I'm surprised it wasn't more.
• 1:00:09
I'm surprised it wasn't more, too.
• 1:00:10
And that's part of what I wanted to talk to you about.
• 1:00:12
  That is happening.
• 1:00:13
Massive backlash to this like report that Diana Rossini
• 1:00:17
was making eight hundred thousand dollars a year at the Athletic
• 1:00:19
prior to prior to her resigning.
• 1:00:20
Now, she was the senior NFL reporter.
• 1:00:22
Again, you and I have talked about being a senior NFL reporter
• 1:00:24
at a major outlet like that.
• 1:00:26
She was among the top three or four NFL insiders in the country.
• 1:00:30
  That's inarguable. You got Schefter.
• 1:00:32
  You've got Ian Rappaport.
• 1:00:34
You've got, you know, you pick your random other guy, whoever it might be.
• 1:00:38
And then it is Diana Rossini. We all knew that.
• 1:00:41
In fact, people were constantly talking about Diana Rossini
• 1:00:43
  constantly complaining about her coverage.
• 1:00:45
That's why she was constantly being talked about,
• 1:00:47
because she was very front facing.
• 1:00:50
She was on TV all the time.
• 1:00:51
All that eight hundred thousand dollars after being an NFL insider
• 1:00:55
for two decades seems like too much money for, you know, I will say,
• 1:00:59
I'll be honest, Cody, eight hundred thousand dollars
• 1:01:00
would change my life entirely right now.
• 1:01:02
I'm not saying I've ever sniffed anything close to that.
• 1:01:05
But what I am saying is that objectively, when Adam Schefter
• 1:01:08
is making nine to ten million dollars a year, it's actually not that crazy
• 1:01:12
to make eight hundred thousand dollars doing the job.
• 1:01:15
She was telling you you're missing the point.
• 1:01:18
Oh, I am. She's a woman with two ends.
• 1:01:22
  She's a woman.
• 1:01:24
  She can't make this money.
• 1:01:27
Some of these dudes have podcasts and blogs.
• 1:01:31
  Think about them.
• 1:01:33
You know what? I hadn't thought of it like that.
• 1:01:35
You're right. A woman making money at all, really.
• 1:01:40
You know where she should be.
• 1:01:41
The kitchen folding the sheet folding sheets, obviously,
• 1:01:46
and then getting yelled at for folding the sheets in the kitchen.
• 1:01:49
  She should be cooking.
• 1:01:50
Honestly, if they'd paid her more, maybe she wouldn't have felt like
• 1:01:52
she needed to get a little extra on the side from Mike Vrabel.
• 1:01:57
  I wasn't. If I wasn't.
• 1:01:58
You know, I was going to be if I negotiated for a million
• 1:02:01
and they only gave me eight hundred thousand, you know, I'd be like,
• 1:02:04
I'm fucking your hottest NFL coach.
• 1:02:06
That then there wouldn't be Mike Vrabel.
• 1:02:08
  I'm just kidding. Jesus Christ.
• 1:02:10
  It's not nothing against him.
• 1:02:12
  It's perfectly fine looking.
• 1:02:13
But he's just, you know, it's not the hottest.
• 1:02:15
And it's a lot of body body.
• 1:02:16
The hottest NFL coach is probably D'Amico.
• 1:02:18
  Ryan's really handsome guy.
• 1:02:22
  D'Amico's in real good.
• 1:02:23
  He's in real good contention.
• 1:02:25
Sean McVeigh's a good looking dude.
• 1:02:27
No, that he's got to be someone.
• 1:02:29
Yeah, he's still got the spiky hair, you know.
• 1:02:32
Oh, you know who's unfortunately kind of attractive?
• 1:02:34
  Dave Canales from the Panthers.
• 1:02:36
Really? Yeah, he is kind of attractive.
• 1:02:38
Oh, he is. But he's got that.
• 1:02:39
He's got that weird Christian vibe.
• 1:02:41
But I'm just saying objectively, he's going to he's going to insist you're
• 1:02:44
a child. Robert Sala can get it.
• 1:02:48
Robert Sala can fucking get it.
• 1:02:50
It's a good looking man, that Robert Sala.
• 1:02:53
But listen and listen, Mike Rable's never been my cup of tea fully.
• 1:02:57
But like women love Mike Rable.
• 1:02:59
That's not I'm just reporting what I've heard.
• 1:03:01
Diana Rossini style. I'm just an insider here.
• 1:03:04
Women listen. Listen, I'm not my cup of tea either.
• 1:03:06
But apparently there's there is a sect of women that do love me
• 1:03:09
and a massive swath of men that do.
• 1:03:12
Yeah, well, of course, you're a gay icon.
• 1:03:15
  I mean, it's fucking crazy.
• 1:03:16
  It's fucking crazy.
• 1:03:18
And you know what? You should be.
• 1:03:19
Oh, you don't think I love being fabulous?
• 1:03:21
We literally can't send you out into West Hollywood.
• 1:03:23
  Just make your location.
• 1:03:24
It just makes me upset because it's just it's not for me.
• 1:03:27
  I know. I know.
• 1:03:28
And I could have been I could have been a fucking player and a half.
• 1:03:32
You could have been Andy Cohen levels of like, oh, my God,
• 1:03:35
I could be Andy Cohen right now. You really could.
• 1:03:37
I know. I just don't find him attractive.
• 1:03:39
He's not my type, man. I know.
• 1:03:41
But you could have been you could have been
• 1:03:45
with the other one from CNN.
• 1:03:47
Anderson Cooper. Anderson Cooper doesn't seem like he's any fun.
• 1:03:50
Have you not watched? Wait, what?
• 1:03:51
He seems like a pill. Oh, my God.
• 1:03:53
You haven't watched Anderson Cooper get absolutely hammered
• 1:03:55
and be completely out of pocket on the nose.
• 1:03:57
No, I have. But it's like he's was forced to do it.
• 1:03:59
Oh, no, no, no, no. That shit.
• 1:04:01
No, they have to rein him in.
• 1:04:02
Oh, maybe maybe I like Anderson Cooper.
• 1:04:04
  Oh, Anderson Cooper's crazy.
• 1:04:06
Yeah. No, that shit is like Andy Cohen's always on the side.
• 1:04:09
I take that back. Slow him down.
• 1:04:10
Never mind. Never mind. I apologize.
• 1:04:12
Just in case. Call me, Anderson. Yeah, exactly.
• 1:04:14
  I'm saying I'm saying.
• 1:04:16
So anyway, we are not offended by Diana Rossini
• 1:04:18
making objectively less than she probably should have been.
• 1:04:21
  Everybody relax. Sorry.
• 1:04:22
They don't pay you that at Barstool, by the way.
• 1:04:24
A lot of these people that were mad about it were from Barstool.
• 1:04:26
And I was like, oh, because Dave Portnoy plays you, pays you like shit.
• 1:04:29
You all you're doing is fucking telling on yourself, you little bitch.
• 1:04:34
  I'm sorry. Sorry.
• 1:04:35
Sorry. You've never gone anywhere and you made yourself unhirable
• 1:04:38
because you work at fucking Barstool.
• 1:04:41
Love that for them. Yeah, you enjoy that shit.
• 1:04:43
Hopefully someday you get to the fucking six figures, Mark.
• 1:04:45
Guys, good luck. Really rooting for you.
• 1:04:48
But to learn to make money.
• 1:04:50
We have some hills we're dying on.
• 1:04:52
Do you know what hill you're dying on this?
• 1:04:53
I will figure it out by the time you're done with yours. OK, so.
• 1:04:58
Unfortunately, because of the mood I've been in,
• 1:05:01
the hill I'm dying on is not as fun as I would like,
• 1:05:04
but I do have to get it off my chest and I'm hoping you'll allow me to do that.
• 1:05:06
  That's it.
• 1:05:08
The hell I'm dying on is that.
• 1:05:11
  Ray,
• 1:05:14
talking about race and politics in sports,
• 1:05:18
I get accused a lot of something called being a white savior and a race baiter,
• 1:05:23
usually by white people, of course.
• 1:05:26
You're just profiting off of talking about race.
• 1:05:29
You're profiting off of race tensions.
• 1:05:33
You want this to happen because then you profit off of it.
• 1:05:36
I can't hear it one more time.
• 1:05:39
I can't hear it one more time.
• 1:05:40
And it's it's really one of those things where very rarely does a critique.
• 1:05:44
Do I take it to heart and personally?
• 1:05:46
  But like my entire career.
• 1:05:52
Would be in a completely different place if I did not have the values that I have,
• 1:05:56
if I did not talk about the things I talk about,
• 1:05:57
if I did not mean everything I fucking say and have a real drive
• 1:06:01
from the center of my core to talk about these things, I would not be here.
• 1:06:05
To talk about these things, I have been like this since I was a kid.
• 1:06:07
Everybody who knows me, my family, my friends,
• 1:06:09
anybody who knew me as a child or a teenager knows I've always been like this.
• 1:06:13
I've always fought for what I believe in.
• 1:06:14
I've always been outspoken about it.
• 1:06:17
And I have never been able to shut my mouth.
• 1:06:19
  And I don't like authority.
• 1:06:21
  I've always had that problem.
• 1:06:22
And trying to get into mainstream media was incredibly difficult.
• 1:06:25
The fact that I was able to do it and do it as well as I have for as long as I have
• 1:06:29
  is a massive achievement.
• 1:06:31
But at the end of the day, I am.
• 1:06:35
If I wanted to make money, if I wanted to pander to make money.
• 1:06:42
The angle of constantly reminding people that they're racists
• 1:06:46
and misogynists probably would not have been my way of doing that.
• 1:06:51
All it does is marginalize me more out of the industry.
• 1:06:53
All it does is cost me opportunities.
• 1:06:55
It has. It has for 15 years.
• 1:06:56
It has even more since I left Fox Sports and really started to talk about
• 1:07:00
the things that I want to talk about on a daily basis, deeply and honestly.
• 1:07:04
It costs me opportunities all the time.
• 1:07:07
Everybody, every time someone says, why don't you have a bigger platform?
• 1:07:10
Why don't why aren't you on television?
• 1:07:12
And then they also say, I actually get why you aren't.
• 1:07:14
But thank you so much for what you're doing.
• 1:07:15
And please don't stop. Don't let them silence you.
• 1:07:17
Don't stop talking about the things you're talking about.
• 1:07:19
I do that because I literally can't be any other way.
• 1:07:23
But let's not fucking let's not get anything fucking twisted.
• 1:07:27
I have absolutely suffered career consequences and financial consequences
• 1:07:32
for speaking out about my values, just like anybody else would.
• 1:07:34
And certainly not as much as as somebody who is black or brown would. Right.
• 1:07:38
Like I'm not I'm not being victim here.
• 1:07:40
  I'm just being quite honest.
• 1:07:42
That has never been a profitable endeavor for me.
• 1:07:45
I do it because not only is it correct, not only am I right all the fucking time,
• 1:07:48
not only am I constantly on the right side of history because I'm smart
• 1:07:52
and I know what the fuck I'm talking about and I know sports,
• 1:07:54
but because I believe in it.
• 1:07:56
So don't ever fucking think I am doing this to make money.
• 1:07:58
If anything, it's costing me fucking money and I'm going to keep doing it anyway.
• 1:08:03
And maybe someday it'll fucking pay off.
• 1:08:05
And you know what I'm going to do?
• 1:08:05
I'm going to hire black women to work with me.
• 1:08:08
I'm going to do the things that I fucking said I was going to do.
• 1:08:10
  That is my fucking mission.
• 1:08:12
So the hill I'm dying on is to shut the fuck up about deciding
• 1:08:16
where my motivations are when I have proven time and time again
• 1:08:19
that I'm willing to sacrifice a lot to stand by what I believe in.
• 1:08:22
  It's good stuff.
• 1:08:23
Mine is actually not too dissimilar, but mine is something that I just the hill
• 1:08:27
I'm dying on, it's more of like a pet peeve.
• 1:08:29
  It's more about that.
• 1:08:31
The one thing I hate more than anything in the world, and it's why I don't like
• 1:08:35
the state of our current nation right now in the state that we currently in
• 1:08:39
is there is a worship of something that that I don't get.
• 1:08:43
And it's alien to me and it's foreign to me.
• 1:08:46
And it's so transparent and it's gross to me.
• 1:08:48
And it's this concept of how I'm going to describe as fake tough.
• 1:08:54
There is nothing more nauseating, more
• 1:08:57
dejectable, more, quite frankly, cringe inducing than fake tough.
• 1:09:02
Yet there are so many people that are hook, line and sinker in love with it.
• 1:09:08
  And it's fucking insane.
• 1:09:10
  That like weird alpha bro.
• 1:09:11
It is just so fucking nothing is weaker
• 1:09:16
and less masculine than sitting around talking about your masculinity.
• 1:09:22
Oh, yeah. Makes no fucking sense to me.
• 1:09:28
The idea that suppressing one's feelings is the masculine thing.
• 1:09:33
  Is this fucking 1940s madmen?
• 1:09:35
Like, what are we talking about?
• 1:09:37
This was an era when men died of heart attacks at thirty three.
• 1:09:41
Like, I simply do not comprehend this.
• 1:09:45
It's sort of like men used to go to war.
• 1:09:47
  Yeah, like this world.
• 1:09:49
You guys are fucking craving to have back.
• 1:09:52
We died of fucking polio then.
• 1:09:55
Like that is a goddamn flu.
• 1:09:57
Like, what are we fucking talking about?
• 1:10:00
  I do not comprehend it.
• 1:10:02
  It is insane to me.
• 1:10:03
And there's so many things in this Venn diagram.
• 1:10:07
And you know, it really sparked it for me because I just read some breaking news
• 1:10:10
that the Angels have have fired their general manager, Perry Manassian.
• 1:10:14
Now, Perry Manassian has done nothing good there, but it's not because of him.
• 1:10:17
It's because the boss in front and above him,
• 1:10:19
the owner of the team won't let him really do anything.
• 1:10:22
Thus, thus, he sat there basically just doing what he's told.
• 1:10:25
And now he's fired, not a job.
• 1:10:27
Another firing that just that is like, OK, what is this going to do?
• 1:10:30
It's just a revolving door where up north in San Francisco, Buster Posey,
• 1:10:34
who would never have that job if his name wasn't fucking Buster Posey,
• 1:10:37
fucking turned a very, very simple thing into a three week long thing
• 1:10:42
because he refuses to address his fucking own players.
• 1:10:45
Protesting gays like that's like I don't know
• 1:10:49
what to say other than using your religion,
• 1:10:52
using your masculinity to somehow make you above others.
• 1:10:56
It is just the babiest of dick energy
• 1:10:59
I've ever seen in my life.
• 1:11:01
And it's I would be more bothered by it
• 1:11:05
if I had a semblance of respect for you.
• 1:11:08
And you know what's so fascinating to your point?
• 1:11:11
Every time women like I mean, women so often are like, hey,
• 1:11:15
we really like guys who are like emotionally like sensitive
• 1:11:18
in touch with what they've got going on.
• 1:11:20
Thoughtful, caring, not alpha, like not trying to flex on me,
• 1:11:23
not trying to force me into some sort of role or respect me as a human being.
• 1:11:27
And the same men are like, no, you don't.
• 1:11:29
You actually you actually want to.
• 1:11:30
You like what you like to do.
• 1:11:32
Yeah, you actually like not having your opinions.
• 1:11:34
And we are constantly like, OK, you know, you're not getting fucked.
• 1:11:37
Like, you know, you're not having sex with this attitude.
• 1:11:39
And I'm telling you, I'm having sex with the nice guys
• 1:11:42
who are really cool and smart and interesting and introspective.
• 1:11:46
  And you're like, no way.
• 1:11:47
No, no way. No, you just want the pipe.
• 1:11:51
Like, what are you talking about?
• 1:11:52
  You don't have a mind.
• 1:11:53
You're constantly telling you and you won't listen.
• 1:11:57
You lady folk just want to do like that's right.
• 1:12:00
And it's my or they're like or they're like
• 1:12:04
all they care about is money and looks.
• 1:12:06
  And it's like, dude,
• 1:12:08
I don't know what to tell you.
• 1:12:10
I don't I mean, if you have money and looks, I'm sure that helps.
• 1:12:15
  I've seen it.
• 1:12:16
But also it's not going to hurt you.
• 1:12:17
But also a lot of people don't have money
• 1:12:19
and a lot of people don't have looks.
• 1:12:21
Some have both. Some have neither.
• 1:12:23
Lots of them are all still getting great relationships with people
• 1:12:27
because they're not obsessed with that.
• 1:12:28
  But you're right.
• 1:12:29
Like, it is so weird how they're in.
• 1:12:31
And, you know, all they do is talk to each other.
• 1:12:33
It's just like a bunch of bros telling each other
• 1:12:35
chamber that they're like hanging out with each other.
• 1:12:37
I mean, like they're like, you know, there's a bunch of catty little bitches.
• 1:12:40
It's also like, why don't you guys just fuck around with each other?
• 1:12:43
  See what happens.
• 1:12:44
Dude, honestly, maybe there's something there.
• 1:12:46
I'm maybe I'm not saying because if you actually think about
• 1:12:48
you found somebody with like similar hobbies and interests
• 1:12:52
and a similar view of the world, maybe you guys should just fuck each other.
• 1:12:56
Listen, like this is the beginning of a rom-com.
• 1:12:59
Try anything once. Try anything once.
• 1:13:02
I say go for it, guys.
• 1:13:03
  I'm rooting for you.
• 1:13:05
I'm I'm shipping you, quite honestly.
• 1:13:07
  Yeah. Happy Pride Month, everybody.
• 1:13:08
  Yeah. Happy Pride Month.
• 1:13:09
Anyways, because we went a little long on that, which I thought was very important.
• 1:13:13
We couldn't get to Curt Schilling, sadly, because he would be very upset
• 1:13:17
that we talked about him during Pride Month.
• 1:13:19
Oh, is that what it is?
• 1:13:20
We don't want to offend Curt Schilling.
• 1:13:21
No, I think we would love to offend Curt Schilling.
• 1:13:23
We just ran out of time. Oh, no, no, no, no, no.
• 1:13:24
I want to offend Curt Schilling as much as humanly possible.
• 1:13:28
Yet again, I mean, he is he is one of one of the more iconic moments
• 1:13:33
in the history of the MLB, but also one of our more iconic antiheroes.
• 1:13:36
  Yes. And what the fuck?
• 1:13:38
No, he's neither of those things.
• 1:13:39
He's sure as shit is not an antihero.
• 1:13:41
  He's an antihero.
• 1:13:42
An antihero is a bad guy you root for.
• 1:13:44
  Yeah, that's me, bro.
• 1:13:46
Holy fuck. I've never rooted for Curt Schilling a day in my goddamn life.
• 1:13:49
He was especially the day he had marinara on his fucking ankle.
• 1:13:52
He was an antihero for like an hour for me.
• 1:13:55
  Unfortunately, that's just my truth.
• 1:13:56
And that does not mean that I if I were you, that'd be my biggest
• 1:14:00
goddamn secret in the history of the world.
• 1:14:01
Listen, guys, you got to like subscribe.
• 1:14:03
What do we always say? Like, like, share, subscribe.
• 1:14:06
Hit that alert button so you know when we're going live again,
• 1:14:08
which will be this next Monday.
• 1:14:10
Absolutely. This next Monday, which is really fantastic
• 1:14:12
because we like having drinks on a Monday because it's going to be a Monday.
• 1:14:16
It's going to be a Monday.
• 1:14:17
And at the end of the day, no matter what I just said about Curt Schilling,
• 1:14:21
I want you guys to know it's always fuck you, Curt Schilling.
• 1:14:23
  Yeah, fuck Curt Schilling.
