- 0:10Speaker 1: Wait insurance, spratrop a check with the audult.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Hey, everybody, welcome to Conspiracy the Show. I'm your host,
- 0:36Speaker 2: Adam Todd Brown. Who are you Hi, I'm Olivia Hidar.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Olivia is your co host. We're your hosts. That's what
- 0:42Speaker 2: we do here. Olivia. How's it going?
- 0:45Speaker 1: You know, things are okay, kind of kind of calming
- 0:48Speaker 1: down after I've had a little bit of a fear
- 0:51Speaker 1: over the Latin not.
- 0:52Speaker 2: F that's a weird time.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Sorry, it sounds I did realize as I was saying
- 0:58Speaker 1: it that it that it would sound weird. The f
- 1:01Speaker 1: U R O R. It's just been a busy couple months,
- 1:04Speaker 1: and I'm glad the things are finally starting to chill
- 1:07Speaker 1: out a little bit.
- 1:08Speaker 2: I mean they might be starting to chill out. But
- 1:12Speaker 2: once we dig into the subject of today's episode, and yeah,
- 1:17Speaker 2: the next eight bonus episodes of this podcast, in fact,
- 1:21Speaker 2: your life might get a lot more exciting.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Yeah maybe, because who knows.
- 1:26Speaker 2: We're talking about the Jesse Ventura that the government doesn't
- 1:31Speaker 2: want you to see. Season two of Conspiracy Theory with
- 1:36Speaker 2: Jesse Ventura.
- 1:37Speaker 1: It exists, it does, it's there. They didn't just go
- 1:41Speaker 1: from one to three, which would be a move.
- 1:43Speaker 2: It's what the Traveling Willberries did. They did. Yes, it's
- 1:47Speaker 2: not an unprecedented move.
- 1:51Speaker 1: It's a great call. I would have never thought to
- 1:53Speaker 1: compare Jesse Ventura to Roy Orbison.
- 1:57Speaker 2: He replaced Roy Orbison and the Traveling Willberries. People don't
- 2:00Speaker 2: know that.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, I mean totally.
- 2:02Speaker 3: You know.
- 2:02Speaker 1: He's just as good with a guitar as Roy.
- 2:05Speaker 2: He sure looks good on a motorcycle. But I'm getting
- 2:08Speaker 2: way way ahead. That's yeah, you're like an episode, interesting
- 2:13Speaker 2: thing about the season. Like we said, you can't find
- 2:15Speaker 2: it anywhere.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Yeah, it's been canceled to like banned, Yeah, banned from TV.
- 2:22Speaker 2: A few unpops listeners or conspiracy to Show listeners have
- 2:26Speaker 2: reached out in an effort to help find these episodes.
- 2:30Speaker 2: And we're going to try and get through all of
- 2:32Speaker 2: it before the Feds shut us down.
- 2:35Speaker 3: I can't believe you would reveal the secret location of
- 2:38Speaker 3: our video files, Adam.
- 2:41Speaker 2: What's just venturer? They don't want you to see. That's
- 2:46Speaker 2: what we're talking about. And he's in fine form, get it.
- 2:51Speaker 2: He's really getting to the interesting stuff. This the first
- 2:55Speaker 2: The topic he covers first is one I've always been
- 2:58Speaker 2: pretty fascinated with for sure, which is Plum Island. Had
- 3:03Speaker 2: you ever heard of this before?
- 3:04Speaker 1: Well? I had, Like I've heard about it just in general,
- 3:09Speaker 1: like as an adult, you know, uh, reading about weird
- 3:12Speaker 1: like the you know, these weird conspiracies and shit. But
- 3:16Speaker 1: I've known it for a long time because it's like
- 3:19Speaker 1: a plot point in Silence of the Lambs. Uh oh,
- 3:22Speaker 1: that's right. That's the place where like Clarice is trying
- 3:26Speaker 1: to like tempt Lecter with like being able to take
- 3:30Speaker 1: vacations at Plumb Island, and he's like, you think you've
- 3:34Speaker 1: you think you're being clever, But I know that Plum
- 3:37Speaker 1: Island actually is a disease testing center, you know it's
- 3:41Speaker 1: and so yeah, I've just known about it like passively
- 3:44Speaker 1: because of that for a long time.
- 3:47Speaker 2: It's very close to New York City. I've heard a
- 3:49Speaker 2: lot of conspiracy stuff about this place before. And I'll
- 3:52Speaker 2: be honest, I don't trust it. I don't. I don't
- 3:55Speaker 2: like that we have an animal testing facility. It's like
- 4:00Speaker 2: a government run animal virus testing facility.
- 4:03Speaker 1: I mean, I like, look, I don't trust it inherently
- 4:07Speaker 1: because I don't generally trust government institutions like as a whole.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Like it's tough for me, but also I understand why
- 4:16Speaker 1: we would need a national animal disease testing center. We like,
- 4:21Speaker 1: if something were to happen to you know, a large
- 4:25Speaker 1: portion of our you know, livestock, we would be in
- 4:28Speaker 1: huge shouble Like it's.
- 4:30Speaker 2: An animal where to pass some sort of pandemic onto people.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Well no, I mean, yeah, what that happened. I mean sure,
- 4:39Speaker 1: But what I mostly mean is that if like, you know,
- 4:41Speaker 1: if all of our cows die, then there goes milk
- 4:44Speaker 1: and there goes you know, fresh milk and fresh beef
- 4:47Speaker 1: like that, and that's like huge. Yeah, It's like.
- 4:50Speaker 2: That's one thing you rarely get in these episodes is
- 4:53Speaker 2: there's never even just one person to step in and
- 4:56Speaker 2: be like, hey, you ever think of the food supply chain, right,
- 5:00Speaker 2: Like maybe we need to keep a tab on animal
- 5:02Speaker 2: diseases also so we can all eat.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Yeah, this is something we're I mean, we've talked about
- 5:07Speaker 1: it before, We're going to talk about it again throughout
- 5:09Speaker 1: these episodes. But like they've got this skeptic character who
- 5:14Speaker 1: just constantly makes these shittiest skeptic arguments that don't make
- 5:19Speaker 1: any sense when like it would you know, like this,
- 5:22Speaker 1: Like it would be a perfect thing for him to
- 5:24Speaker 1: bring up, like perfectly reasonable thing would be, well, there's
- 5:27Speaker 1: a reason for us to have this, And that's not
- 5:30Speaker 1: ever his position. It's always like, well, no, I think
- 5:33Speaker 1: we should just trust the government. Guys, we only have
- 5:37Speaker 1: a question what they say.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Do you think the government is working on bioweapons somewhere?
- 5:43Speaker 1: I mean probably, but I would like, personally, I would
- 5:47Speaker 1: imagine they're gonna do it off of the mainland. It
- 5:51Speaker 1: would probably not. And I don't mean like Plumb Island
- 5:54Speaker 1: off of the mainland. I mean, like, you know, we've
- 5:56Speaker 1: got all these territories, We've got like military bases all
- 6:00Speaker 1: over the world. You know, I would imagine that we're
- 6:03Speaker 1: probably doing some sort of chemical weapons or biological weapon
- 6:08Speaker 1: research in some place like that. But in I just
- 6:11Speaker 1: feel like in the mainland that's tough. Even the most
- 6:15Speaker 1: dedicated shithead politicians would be like, I don't know if
- 6:19Speaker 1: I want that in my state, you know, Like it's
- 6:23Speaker 1: like if we're trying to get through the Senate.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Yeah, And that is a thing that comes up in
- 6:27Speaker 2: this episode. I'm trying to move Plumb Island to Kansas.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Which makes sense, like that actually like they they you know,
- 6:34Speaker 1: they're very suspicious of it, because they're very suspicious of
- 6:37Speaker 1: everything about this facility, because that's the premise of the show.
- 6:41Speaker 1: But like it makes sense for it to be in
- 6:43Speaker 1: Kansas because that's where a bunch of animals are, like
- 6:48Speaker 1: we would be, that would be kind of in the
- 6:51Speaker 1: you know, in the ship as it were. They kind
- 6:54Speaker 1: of got to get it. You have to imagine they're
- 7:00Speaker 1: kind of importing a lot of these I mean, there's
- 7:02Speaker 1: obviously livestock in upstate New York, but like they've got
- 7:06Speaker 1: to be chucking these things for a while.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Yeah, they do talk about some weird aspects of this place.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Oh for sure.
- 7:13Speaker 2: The fact that it was founded by a Nazi is disturbing.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean that's awful, but like and unfortunately true
- 7:21Speaker 1: of a lot of our agencies, some of which are
- 7:25Speaker 1: like legitimately beneficial, like NASA, like you know, we just
- 7:30Speaker 1: you know, unfortunately, Yeah, that's what our government decided to
- 7:34Speaker 1: do after World War two.
- 7:36Speaker 2: Hard fact of life. We teamed up with the Nazis
- 7:38Speaker 2: after World War two a fight communism.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Yep.
- 7:43Speaker 2: So this episode opens with Jesse Ventura and that fucking skeptic.
- 7:49Speaker 2: His name's Alex Piper I believe, yeah, or that's just
- 7:52Speaker 2: what I've named him.
- 7:53Speaker 1: I mean, I just know Alex.
- 7:55Speaker 2: They're on a boat to Plumb Island, and they set
- 7:59Speaker 2: it up like they're being chased by the coast Guard.
- 8:01Speaker 1: I mean, it's a classic conspiracy theory cold open. Yeah,
- 8:05Speaker 1: Like he often opens with like, I'm getting rounded up
- 8:09Speaker 1: by the fits because I've asked too many hard questions
- 8:14Speaker 1: and then you get to that part of the episode
- 8:16Speaker 1: and it's always like, yeah, they just kind of asked
- 8:18Speaker 1: him politely to leave.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Yeah, they were just there doing the coast Guard's job
- 8:23Speaker 2: guarding the coast. Things like yeah, of all the government
- 8:27Speaker 2: agencies like the coast Guard, I'm like, they just fucking
- 8:30Speaker 2: deal with water. That's not even we shouldn't be there
- 8:33Speaker 2: in the first place.
- 8:35Speaker 1: I mean, like, yeah, I just don't find the coast
- 8:38Speaker 1: Guard threatening. I find them. They have a helpful image.
- 8:42Speaker 1: They're like the sea firefighters to me.
- 8:46Speaker 2: I like that. Right out of the gate, he delivers
- 8:48Speaker 2: a real sad monologue about being chased because he's a governor,
- 8:53Speaker 2: he used to be a governor, and uh, oh man,
- 8:57Speaker 2: you can tell I did these notes with voice dictation
- 8:59Speaker 2: soft because there's Yeah, some translation errors. I did notice
- 9:05Speaker 2: that it says I used to be a governor. What
- 9:07Speaker 2: are they think? I am a flocking terrorist? That's not
- 9:10Speaker 2: actually Jesse Venture's quote from the episode.
- 9:13Speaker 1: He said, Well, like one of them.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Think I am a fucking terrorist. Yeah, they might.
- 9:19Speaker 1: That is a that's gonna be a running theme at
- 9:21Speaker 1: least over the next couple episodes, where he just is
- 9:24Speaker 1: so indignant that, as a former government governor and current
- 9:29Speaker 1: TV show host, he is not allowed to go literally
- 9:32Speaker 1: anywhere he wants to go.
- 9:35Speaker 2: And who would want that. There have been some bad
- 9:37Speaker 2: governors in history exactly. You want to give them all
- 9:40Speaker 2: unfettered access to everything in the world.
- 9:43Speaker 1: I mean, it's not like, honestly, you're just a you're
- 9:46Speaker 1: a governor, you run a state.
- 9:49Speaker 2: They declared this Jesse Venture a day here in nineteen
- 9:52Speaker 2: eighty nine let me in. He describes being chased as
- 9:58Speaker 2: like a raid out of his navy man days. Yeah,
- 10:02Speaker 2: only this time he didn't have a gun or a knife, right,
- 10:04Speaker 2: but from what he'd already found, they wouldn't be much
- 10:07Speaker 2: help anyway. Yeah, what were you gonna do? He's gonna
- 10:11Speaker 2: get get a gunfight at Plumb Island on TV he is.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Gonna shank some coast guards. Yeah, yeah, I love whenever
- 10:19Speaker 1: he brings up his navy days. I'm glad he was
- 10:22Speaker 1: talking about being a frogman and not a seal, which
- 10:25Speaker 1: is more accurate. Still cool, but yeah, but also comparing
- 10:30Speaker 1: what happens in this episode to something that happened during
- 10:35Speaker 1: your frogman days really makes your frogman days seem not
- 10:38Speaker 1: that dangerous. It kind of undermines the machoness of that brag.
- 10:44Speaker 2: I know a thing or two about being lightly followed
- 10:47Speaker 2: by the coastguard, and he never really elaborates on the guns.
- 10:52Speaker 2: Wouldn't help much anyway, because then we just cut to
- 10:55Speaker 2: oh for sure. The first person he talks to, who's
- 10:58Speaker 2: Kenneth King, an expert on biowarfare. He talks about how
- 11:02Speaker 2: there are thirteen hundred and fifty six germ containment facilities
- 11:06Speaker 2: around the country and if there are accidents happening regularly.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Here's the thing about that number, I'd rather there be
- 11:13Speaker 2: more than less, because if he was like, listen, there
- 11:17Speaker 2: are two germ containment units for the entire country, I'd
- 11:20Speaker 2: be like, fuck.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Yeah, that's doesn't seem like enough. I mean, like, again,
- 11:26Speaker 1: I don't want to take the government side. That is
- 11:29Speaker 1: not something that I'm trying to do. But like I
- 11:33Speaker 1: think the last couple of years have shown that we
- 11:35Speaker 1: need facilities in our country to study these things like
- 11:40Speaker 1: they're they're important to know about. They're not like you
- 11:44Speaker 1: have there. Everyone in this episode is constantly take immediately
- 11:49Speaker 1: leaping to the most negative possible assumption about what's going on.
- 11:54Speaker 1: And I get it. I get that, And I'm not
- 11:57Speaker 1: saying there's not anything nefarious happened with regards to this stuff,
- 12:02Speaker 1: but like you know, there's also rational explanations.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Yeah, and what they're getting into in this part is
- 12:10Speaker 2: a little timely because he's basically talking about a lab leak,
- 12:15Speaker 2: which the lab leak theory when it comes to COVID
- 12:18Speaker 2: is not a popular one, but it's one that exists. Yeah.
- 12:22Speaker 1: It well, it's tough because it's so loaded.
- 12:26Speaker 3: Uh.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Yeah, it depends on what version you're talking about. If
- 12:29Speaker 2: you're talking about the Chinese government created COVID in a
- 12:33Speaker 2: lab and then unleashed it on the world, I don't
- 12:35Speaker 2: think so. But yes, of course it's possible for someone
- 12:38Speaker 2: to work in a lab like this and accidentally spread
- 12:41Speaker 2: something to the outside. I mean, I mean.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Sure, but also lots of things are possible, Like you know,
- 12:48Speaker 1: I just that's just a huge leap to make from
- 12:52Speaker 1: outbreak to bioweapon.
- 12:55Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, and with they're not necessarily saying the government's
- 12:59Speaker 2: making buy weapons, but they do hint at it a
- 13:02Speaker 2: whole lot. And uh, that's mostly what they're focusing on,
- 13:06Speaker 2: is the chances that something like this or that one
- 13:09Speaker 2: of these facilities something could escape and make a lot
- 13:13Speaker 2: of people sick. But you're just kind of rolling the
- 13:15Speaker 2: dice on life in general, like that could happen with
- 13:18Speaker 2: so many things.
- 13:19Speaker 1: I mean for sure. Yeah, and again, like there's no
- 13:23Speaker 1: other way to develop things ways to combat these viruses
- 13:29Speaker 1: and different kinds of infections than studying the germs and
- 13:35Speaker 1: like the viruses and the bacteria that cause those infections,
- 13:39Speaker 1: Like that's the only way to do it. Really, you
- 13:42Speaker 1: can't do it without them.
- 13:43Speaker 2: Yeah, It's one of those things where you got a
- 13:44Speaker 2: weigh the risks against the benefits, right, Like, yes, there's
- 13:49Speaker 2: some risk, but the benefits of knowing how these things work,
- 13:52Speaker 2: should they get out at some point, are obviously gonna
- 13:56Speaker 2: outweigh those risks.
- 13:57Speaker 4: Well.
- 13:58Speaker 1: And also, you know, if you think about like what
- 14:01Speaker 1: is in the government's best interest, and you know, even
- 14:06Speaker 1: just on a financial level, like the pandemic has been
- 14:11Speaker 1: disastrous for our country's economy, and so they're going to
- 14:17Speaker 1: have If we do have these facilities that are studying
- 14:22Speaker 1: you know, viruses and you know, these different kinds of things,
- 14:26Speaker 1: the security on these things is gonna be insanely tight
- 14:29Speaker 1: because the government in charge doesn't want an outbreak because
- 14:34Speaker 1: it would cost a shit ton of money and like
- 14:37Speaker 1: be hugely damaging to whoever's in like to the president's reputation,
- 14:41Speaker 1: like and everybody involved. It would just it just doesn't
- 14:44Speaker 1: make any sense for it to be any other way.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Yeah. That that's a running theme with this series in general.
- 14:50Speaker 2: That frustrates me is it always comes back to, well,
- 14:53Speaker 2: why want the government let us in to see what's
- 14:55Speaker 2: going on? It's like, and that's not how government works,
- 14:59Speaker 2: I mean for sure.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Yeah, especially with this Plumb Island thing, when every time
- 15:03Speaker 1: he kept being like.
- 15:04Speaker 3: I just want to I just want to go in
- 15:06Speaker 3: and see what's happening. I just need to know what's
- 15:10Speaker 3: going on. I mean, first of all, what do you
- 15:13Speaker 3: know about disease? You know, control? What do you know
- 15:17Speaker 3: about it?
- 15:17Speaker 1: How would you be able to tell what's happening in
- 15:21Speaker 1: a lab like this. And also if you think that
- 15:24Speaker 1: they're developing these things, why would you want to go
- 15:27Speaker 1: into there? Yeah, like it's if it's that dangerous.
- 15:31Speaker 2: Yeah, imagine if you were fighting to get in this
- 15:34Speaker 2: place and they keep saying no and keep saying no,
- 15:36Speaker 2: and then suddenly they're like, all right, come in. I
- 15:40Speaker 2: feel like at that point I'd be like, no, no,
- 15:43Speaker 2: that's going on.
- 15:43Speaker 1: I actually changed my mind.
- 15:45Speaker 2: I'm sorry, you're not putting me in that room, Like
- 15:48Speaker 2: I mean seriously though. So the next thing that happens
- 15:54Speaker 2: in this episode, it's time for a patented team meeting. Yes,
- 15:59Speaker 2: they have these all throughout the episode. Sometimes they kick
- 16:03Speaker 2: off the episode. Sometimes Yeah, Jesse's just in a Starbucks
- 16:06Speaker 2: and someone walks up and slides a paper across the
- 16:08Speaker 2: table and he brings that back to the team meeting.
- 16:12Speaker 2: In this meeting, they're talking about the mon Talk Monster. Yeah.
- 16:15Speaker 1: I don't want to completely shoot this down, but like
- 16:18Speaker 1: if you've ever seen like biologists have like done composites
- 16:23Speaker 1: of a raccoon, an image of a raccoon like over
- 16:26Speaker 1: the image of the montalk monster, and it's like one
- 16:30Speaker 1: to one, and you know, I just kind of know
- 16:33Speaker 1: what dead animals look like, and I know it, but
- 16:39Speaker 1: like it just looks like a dead animal, you know,
- 16:42Speaker 1: Like why.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Won't you let me look at your dead animals?
- 16:45Speaker 1: I Like, again, I don't want to be like a
- 16:48Speaker 1: total downer, but I don't know, I just can't go there.
- 16:53Speaker 1: On the on the Montalk Monster, that's just one where
- 16:56Speaker 1: I'm like, this is just so obviously a raccoon.
- 17:00Speaker 2: Well, my question with the mon Talk monster, because the
- 17:03Speaker 2: argument people make is, well, that escaped from Plum Island
- 17:06Speaker 2: where they're testing animals. What would they be making that
- 17:09Speaker 2: for what?
- 17:10Speaker 1: Also, also, this like this is why it's weird that
- 17:13Speaker 1: they brought it up in this episode because they've the
- 17:18Speaker 1: entire rest of the episode is about bioweapons basically, and
- 17:24Speaker 1: then they have this montagu monster thing, which is about
- 17:27Speaker 1: like genetic engineering or something, and like that's just a
- 17:31Speaker 1: totally different conspiracy theory, Like it doesn't really connect to
- 17:38Speaker 1: the bioweapon aspect, except that it involves animals.
- 17:43Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a it's a confusing tangent, that's for sure.
- 17:47Speaker 2: That thing does look creepy when it's weird.
- 17:49Speaker 1: I mean, dead animals are freaking freaky.
- 17:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know, man, Like I just I just
- 17:55Speaker 1: can't go there on them. And I love that cryptozoology stuff.
- 17:58Speaker 1: I think it's cool, like, but the Montok monster is
- 18:02Speaker 1: just it's a dead animal and it's been rolling around
- 18:05Speaker 1: in the surf. It's got all it's for, you know,
- 18:07Speaker 1: stripped off, and it's got the a skull with like
- 18:11Speaker 1: missing teeth and a broken nose, and it looks like
- 18:14Speaker 1: it's got the raccoon shacks, like it's got the little
- 18:17Speaker 1: puffy butt anduff but it's got the little puffy butt,
- 18:21Speaker 1: but like not as cute because it's been decomposing in
- 18:26Speaker 1: the ocean.
- 18:28Speaker 2: They send June sarpalm to Kansas, and I'm not sure why. Yeah,
- 18:31Speaker 2: what's she gonna do stop? Like this isn't the Excel pipeline,
- 18:35Speaker 2: and even if it was, you're not enough protesters to
- 18:37Speaker 2: stop it.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Well, yeah, like June is kind of like the field
- 18:42Speaker 1: trip person. Really, She's the one who always kind of
- 18:45Speaker 1: goes to like you know, meet someone or or you know,
- 18:49Speaker 1: do some sort of trip to places being discussed to investigate.
- 18:53Speaker 1: And I think they just needed her to do something
- 18:55Speaker 1: and so they sent her out there.
- 18:57Speaker 2: Meanwhile, Jesse and Alex get on a plane ahead to
- 19:00Speaker 2: Plumb Island, which was confusing because it seemed like they
- 19:03Speaker 2: just drove there, but or they were on a boat
- 19:06Speaker 2: at one point. I don't know why we even needed
- 19:09Speaker 2: to know about the plane. Alex the Skeptic goes to
- 19:12Speaker 2: the beach to talk to a guy about the mon
- 19:14Speaker 2: Talk monster, Nicholas cut Naro. He's a local and he
- 19:19Speaker 2: said he's the first one who reported on the mon
- 19:21Speaker 2: Talk monster on his website, and he thinks it's a
- 19:24Speaker 2: hybrid animal of some sort. But he also says another
- 19:27Speaker 2: one on shore, Yeah, like a manimal if you will, right, yeah,
- 19:32Speaker 2: which again, for what exactly, what's the purpose of that,
- 19:37Speaker 2: just for funds for kicks and shit.
- 19:39Speaker 1: The giggles like, I don't understand.
- 19:42Speaker 2: We've got hybrid animals and they can't even cure cancer.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Yet they're making bio weapons out of hybrid animals. They're
- 19:50Speaker 1: infecting the hybrids with hoof and mouth disease.
- 19:55Speaker 2: Meanwhile, Jesse Ventura is talking to Carl Grossman, a professor
- 19:59Speaker 2: and an investigative journalist, and this is who brings up
- 20:03Speaker 2: the fact that Plumb Island was started after World War
- 20:06Speaker 2: Two by a former Nazi named Eric Traub and he
- 20:10Speaker 2: was brought here under Operation paper Clips.
- 20:12Speaker 1: So that's cool. Oh, it's super dope. Love history.
- 20:15Speaker 2: And his idea for Plumb Island was that he would
- 20:18Speaker 2: be able to weaponize bugs basically. And here's the thing.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Have you ever seen Wormwood? Did you watch the Wormwood document?
- 20:26Speaker 1: No? No, we've talked about I do need to watch that.
- 20:29Speaker 1: That's one that's been on my list for too long.
- 20:31Speaker 2: One of the theories that comes up in Wormwood is
- 20:34Speaker 2: that we used biological weapons in Korea, and the type
- 20:39Speaker 2: of weapons we used were bombs that when they hit
- 20:43Speaker 2: the ground instead of exploding, they just kind of broke
- 20:46Speaker 2: open and released weaponize bugs into the area to introduce
- 20:50Speaker 2: diseases to the area.
- 20:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:52Speaker 2: So I don't completely doubt.
- 20:54Speaker 1: That, No, I mean, that would be an efficient way
- 20:58Speaker 1: to spread weaponized disease, Like that's just you know, that's
- 21:02Speaker 1: how the Bubonic League spread. So it makes sense that
- 21:06Speaker 1: that would be something under consideration.
- 21:08Speaker 2: But they don't really stay on that for long. I
- 21:11Speaker 2: don't know. Maybe Jesse Venture has never heard that conspiracy maybe,
- 21:15Speaker 2: but like the CIA did throw a guy out a
- 21:18Speaker 2: window to keep it quiet.
- 21:19Speaker 1: We know that, right, Yeah, and they said that the
- 21:21Speaker 1: overdose sun LSD or so.
- 21:23Speaker 2: They said they they claimed they gave him too much
- 21:26Speaker 2: LSD and it drove him crazy and he jumped out
- 21:28Speaker 2: a window. And you know, when the CIA has taken
- 21:30Speaker 2: responsibility for something like that, something much much worse actually happened.
- 21:35Speaker 1: Totally.
- 21:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:36Speaker 1: I think the reason why they don't spend much time
- 21:39Speaker 1: on the flea thing is that they don't really spend
- 21:41Speaker 1: too much time on any one detail of this. It's
- 21:44Speaker 1: kind of scattershot. It's probably my big biggest problem with
- 21:47Speaker 1: the episode is it just kind of jumps all over
- 21:49Speaker 1: the place.
- 21:50Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the problem with a series like this in general.
- 21:53Speaker 2: Like when you're getting into area fifty one, Yeah, which
- 21:56Speaker 2: they do on the next episode, there's so much to
- 21:58Speaker 2: talk about, and it's like, really, you're gonna knock this
- 22:01Speaker 2: out in forty minutes. It's gonna be interesting. So Carl
- 22:05Speaker 2: Grossman is very worried about al Qaeda striking Plumb Island,
- 22:10Speaker 2: and I am not, and I never was.
- 22:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm yeah now is well, I guess that you know,
- 22:16Speaker 1: twenty ten or whenever this was made, is I guess
- 22:20Speaker 1: a slightly more relevant time to be worried about al Qaeda.
- 22:24Speaker 2: No, that's two years into Obama. I think by then
- 22:27Speaker 2: most most people were like all right, there's yeah, they're not.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Like I was a freid of al Qaeda like the
- 22:34Speaker 1: day after nine to eleven, Like I just like I
- 22:38Speaker 1: was like fourteen years old, and I was like, this
- 22:41Speaker 1: is a one and done, right, this seems like they
- 22:44Speaker 1: probably shot their wat on this. This is huge.
- 22:48Speaker 2: Yeah, nothing else is really gonna impress after finally exactly.
- 22:53Speaker 1: I mean, like we had like the fucking anthrac shit,
- 22:56Speaker 1: which turned out to like everything we've had since then
- 22:59Speaker 1: has been domestic terrorism. Yeah, it's been every major incident
- 23:03Speaker 1: since nine eleven. So yeah, I am not personally afraid
- 23:06Speaker 1: of al Qaeda or ISIS or whoever's the big one
- 23:11Speaker 1: now attacking Home Islands.
- 23:13Speaker 2: Yeah. The anthrax attacks are a very sad and interesting story.
- 23:17Speaker 2: It's like another Richard Jewel story basically a little bit. Yeah,
- 23:21Speaker 2: because they identify the suspect and name him publicly and
- 23:24Speaker 2: then just kind of harass him until he finally kills himself,
- 23:28Speaker 2: I believe, and then almost as soon as he died,
- 23:31Speaker 2: they're like, oh, are bad it's actually this other guy?
- 23:34Speaker 2: We think, whoopsie, that's their official like that was their
- 23:40Speaker 2: press release. It was just like, so sorry, the Office
- 23:43Speaker 2: of the FBI, whoops a little shrug emojis? Did we
- 23:48Speaker 2: have those back then?
- 23:49Speaker 1: I think I don't think so, but they just did,
- 23:52Speaker 1: like the written out one with like the slashes.
- 23:56Speaker 2: So next they get into the tick theory, right, this
- 24:00Speaker 2: is a theory that's been around quite a while. It
- 24:03Speaker 2: has this is one that this is an example of
- 24:07Speaker 2: what you were talking about, where you're really getting into
- 24:10Speaker 2: a complex theory with this tick thing. To just gloss
- 24:14Speaker 2: over it in the course of this episode is bad planning,
- 24:18Speaker 2: if nothing else, because this should be its own episode.
- 24:23Speaker 2: It's very strange theory, which it's kind of the same thing,
- 24:27Speaker 2: which is that in this case, lime disease escaped from
- 24:32Speaker 2: a facility I believe, Plumb Island and made its way
- 24:36Speaker 2: to Connecticut and then spread to the rest of the world. Yeah,
- 24:40Speaker 2: and I spent a lot of back and forth on
- 24:43Speaker 2: this theory over the years.
- 24:45Speaker 1: I think the biggest fourth and probably the reason why
- 24:48Speaker 1: they're not gonna they wouldn't do a full episode on it,
- 24:51Speaker 1: is that like there were reported cases of lime disease before,
- 24:56Speaker 1: like this was before Plumb Island existed. Yeah, there's that,
- 25:00Speaker 1: but also the way technicality.
- 25:02Speaker 2: But the way it popped up in the region when
- 25:07Speaker 2: it did and how it did, there's like yeah, I
- 25:10Speaker 2: mean obviously there's that contention, but there are I think
- 25:14Speaker 2: we've done an episode on it, but there are answers
- 25:16Speaker 2: to that contention also, Like sure, I wouldn't be surprised
- 25:21Speaker 2: if something like it's a thing that can happen like
- 25:25Speaker 2: things can state, I mean facilities like this.
- 25:28Speaker 1: I mean, that's that's true. And again I'm not going
- 25:31Speaker 1: to say that, you know, when it comes to the
- 25:33Speaker 1: government doing heinous things that anything basically is off the table.
- 25:38Speaker 1: But I like, for me, like just the fact that
- 25:42Speaker 1: Plumb Island didn't even exist when the first cases of
- 25:45Speaker 1: lime disease were documented is just that's just kind of
- 25:49Speaker 1: an open and shut thing for me. That's that's a
- 25:51Speaker 1: tough one to overcome.
- 25:52Speaker 2: Well, what if they were studying lime disease in that facility,
- 25:56Speaker 2: what if they had been able to get access to
- 26:00Speaker 2: lime disease, which yeah, there had been cases of it before, right.
- 26:03Speaker 1: So they're studying it, and so you're saying, like.
- 26:05Speaker 2: That's why it goes from a thing that existed to
- 26:09Speaker 2: being in a concentrated out in one area.
- 26:12Speaker 1: And that's that's a fine like that. I understand how
- 26:17Speaker 1: that could happen, but that's not really the theory that
- 26:21Speaker 1: this show positive like posits or that the biggest theory is,
- 26:24Speaker 1: and the theory that most people say about lime disease
- 26:27Speaker 1: with Plumb Island is that they created lime disease at
- 26:30Speaker 1: Plumb Island. That's like what this guy's saying and what
- 26:35Speaker 1: the major theory is, and that is just it can't
- 26:38Speaker 1: be true.
- 26:39Speaker 2: Right that. I mean, yeah, but those are two different theories. No,
- 26:43Speaker 2: something might have escaped and that something was intentionally released
- 26:48Speaker 2: as a bio weapon. Those that's two different things.
- 26:51Speaker 1: Oh no, totally I agree, But I just I'm at
- 26:56Speaker 1: least what I understood from from what this guy was
- 26:59Speaker 1: saying is he's he's of the camp that believes that
- 27:02Speaker 1: it was created there, and that's kind of what they're implying. Yeah,
- 27:06Speaker 1: with a lot of this, and I just that it
- 27:09Speaker 1: can't be true. So yeah, I wouldn't.
- 27:11Speaker 2: Be inclined to believe that, but I do believe if
- 27:15Speaker 2: it's something that escaped, the government would have a very
- 27:18Speaker 2: vested interest in covering that up because they absolutely for
- 27:22Speaker 2: the financial liability if nothing else, right.
- 27:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean that, Yeah, that's what we were talking about.
- 27:27Speaker 2: Lime disease almost broke up Hall and Oates, how seesus
- 27:31Speaker 2: the federal government encroach on our rights like that?
- 27:34Speaker 1: Yeah, that alone would have caused a fucking riot in
- 27:39Speaker 1: nineteen seventy nine.
- 27:40Speaker 2: The cost of the economy come on exactly exactly. It's
- 27:44Speaker 2: in the world.
- 27:46Speaker 1: I mean, and and look and lime disease is fucking horrific.
- 27:50Speaker 1: And you know again, I wouldn't be like, that's also
- 27:54Speaker 1: a disease that you would probably study, like an animal disease. Yeah, center,
- 28:00Speaker 1: that makes sense.
- 28:00Speaker 2: Well, yeah, because ticks are gonna transmit.
- 28:03Speaker 1: I think famis can contract the form of it, right,
- 28:06Speaker 1: like probably so. Yeah.
- 28:08Speaker 2: They also get into suggesting that there are human experiments
- 28:13Speaker 2: happening roy Plum Island. And it's on account of how
- 28:17Speaker 2: this body washed ashore and it had weird elongated fingers, right,
- 28:22Speaker 2: And there are newspapers articles out there about this body
- 28:27Speaker 2: washing up. But I don't know people there's there was
- 28:31Speaker 2: a lobster boy was a real boy, right, And he
- 28:34Speaker 2: was a man who got murdered by his wife in
- 28:36Speaker 2: a murder for higher plot after she left him, married
- 28:40Speaker 2: the world's smallest man and then divorced him and went
- 28:43Speaker 2: back to Lobster Boy. That's all true?
- 28:45Speaker 1: Wow yeah, No, I mean the world is a strange
- 28:48Speaker 1: and wondrous place, and that all happened at Plumb Island exactly. Yes,
- 28:52Speaker 1: Lobster Boy born in a Plum Island. H But like
- 28:57Speaker 1: you know, again, we're talking about a dead that's been
- 29:00Speaker 1: rolling around in the ocean for a while. It's probably
- 29:04Speaker 1: gonna look pretty fucking weird. I think any of us
- 29:07Speaker 1: would look pretty fucking weird.
- 29:09Speaker 2: Next, they do a thing, a really signature thing of
- 29:13Speaker 2: this series in general, where they go to get answers
- 29:16Speaker 2: from someone who you should know ahead of time is
- 29:18Speaker 2: not going to be in a position to give you answers.
- 29:20Speaker 2: And in this case, Alex, the skeptic, heads to a
- 29:23Speaker 2: local police department to ask about the mon Talk monster.
- 29:27Speaker 2: And it's like, man, if that was a real animal
- 29:30Speaker 2: hybrid that escaped from a government lab. These cops have
- 29:33Speaker 2: been hit with that men in black flashing thing a
- 29:38Speaker 2: time ago.
- 29:39Speaker 1: You think the mon Talk police department, like their biggest
- 29:44Speaker 1: struggle is dealing with like some drunk millionaire. It's like
- 29:49Speaker 1: causing a riot at cracker Barrel, Like, they just aren't
- 29:53Speaker 1: I feel like gonna be a real big help in
- 29:56Speaker 1: this situation.
- 29:58Speaker 2: Yeah, they're not gonna be in a position to jeopardize
- 30:00Speaker 2: that job, that's for surely. So then they go talk
- 30:05Speaker 2: to Randy Sykes, who contracted lime disease fifteen years ago.
- 30:10Speaker 2: He believes it was created by the government and that
- 30:13Speaker 2: they were doing it to create a weapon, and he
- 30:17Speaker 2: says he found the smoking gun, which is a document
- 30:21Speaker 2: showing that the FEDS are working on biowarfare agents at
- 30:25Speaker 2: Plumb Island and that lime disease is one of them.
- 30:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, look, it's terrible that this guy had
- 30:35Speaker 1: lime disease. It's really, like I said, that's a vicious,
- 30:39Speaker 1: vicious disease. And it's understandable that when you have something
- 30:44Speaker 1: that's that debilitating you want answers like this is something
- 30:48Speaker 1: we run. You know. The first episode that we talked
- 30:50Speaker 1: about of this show was nine to eleven and they
- 30:54Speaker 1: had oh I forgot, they had a woman who was
- 30:57Speaker 1: like the mother of one of the eleven victims, And
- 31:00Speaker 1: it's like, yeah, I understand how someone in that position
- 31:04Speaker 1: might turn to, you know, some sort of theory that
- 31:08Speaker 1: can give closure to them. But like I said, I mean,
- 31:12Speaker 1: like this document, where did this document come from? Like
- 31:16Speaker 1: how do we know that it's real?
- 31:18Speaker 2: That's the thing. Whenever they talk to anyone like this
- 31:22Speaker 2: on this show, it's like, well, where did Randy get that?
- 31:27Speaker 1: Right? He's like, with.
- 31:29Speaker 2: All the journalists and investigative reporters and whatever in the
- 31:35Speaker 2: world intelligence agencies, how did Randy get it? Because we
- 31:42Speaker 2: talk about this documentary all the time called Mirage Men,
- 31:45Speaker 2: which is about a guy whose job it was when
- 31:50Speaker 2: someone would find evidence of an actual thing the government
- 31:53Speaker 2: was working on, like a top secret project, he would
- 31:57Speaker 2: go out to them and give them a d evidence
- 32:01Speaker 2: that was fake, so then they would go publish that,
- 32:05Speaker 2: and then the government could just be like, no, this
- 32:07Speaker 2: is very demonstrably false. This person's crazy. Don't pay attention
- 32:10Speaker 2: to anything they're saying. Again, if lime disease just accidentally leaked,
- 32:16Speaker 2: as opposed to being a weapon the government created, they're
- 32:19Speaker 2: going to have a whole lot of liability if that
- 32:21Speaker 2: comes out, right. And one thing we know the government
- 32:23Speaker 2: does is they will send you on a whole other
- 32:26Speaker 2: trail that's not going to be provable in order to
- 32:29Speaker 2: hide that actual truth. And for sure I would be
- 32:32Speaker 2: suspicious that that might be what's happening here.
- 32:36Speaker 1: I mean possibly, But also like, so who's Randy other
- 32:40Speaker 1: than a guy who had line disease?
- 32:42Speaker 2: Well, that's that's what I'm saying, though, is they if
- 32:45Speaker 2: he had been pushing this theory that lime disease is
- 32:48Speaker 2: a weapon, someone could have just come to him and
- 32:50Speaker 2: been like, yep, here's your proof. Yeah, I should go
- 32:53Speaker 2: public with that. And then now his whole focus is
- 32:57Speaker 2: this is a weapon as opposed to oh no, wasn't.
- 33:00Speaker 2: But the government's responsible.
- 33:02Speaker 1: For sure, well, like and and and just in general though,
- 33:05Speaker 1: like and this is a problem with with the show
- 33:09Speaker 1: is I don't understand like Randy's influence, like how how
- 33:15Speaker 1: wide his influence is. I don't know how well known
- 33:18Speaker 1: he is in any community, like any conspiracy community or
- 33:24Speaker 1: you know, the local community or anything. And so I
- 33:27Speaker 1: also he might just be saying whatever, and he's like
- 33:32Speaker 1: the person with LME disease who believes in this stuff,
- 33:34Speaker 1: who was willing to talk to them, or I mean,
- 33:37Speaker 1: but I don't know, like it he might not have
- 33:39Speaker 1: even been well known enough to have gotten a visit
- 33:43Speaker 1: by the mirage, you know, like that isn't even necessary,
- 33:47Speaker 1: Like he could just be a guy who made up
- 33:49Speaker 1: this document.
- 33:49Speaker 2: I don't know, Yeah, I mean the possibilities are endless.
- 33:54Speaker 1: Andy's Sykes.
- 33:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I looked it up. There's not much, of course,
- 33:59Speaker 2: much out there about him. Yeah, I don't doubt that
- 34:02Speaker 2: he's like probably some kind of activist when it comes
- 34:05Speaker 2: to stuff like this. But but what I'm getting at
- 34:07Speaker 2: is that is the kind of person the government would
- 34:10Speaker 2: target with absolutely misinformation and be like, yep, you got
- 34:14Speaker 2: your audience, go run with this stupid theory as opposed
- 34:18Speaker 2: to what we don't want you to know.
- 34:20Speaker 1: No, totally, and I agree with that, but and it's.
- 34:23Speaker 2: It's for the same reason, like, who the fuck's Randy?
- 34:25Speaker 2: How's he gonna get his hands on shit like this?
- 34:28Speaker 1: Exactly?
- 34:29Speaker 2: So, now Jesse and Alex the skeptic are getting on
- 34:33Speaker 2: that boat so they can head to Plumb Island. The
- 34:35Speaker 2: boat's called the Coyote. That's that's cute.
- 34:38Speaker 1: Yeah, it's cool.
- 34:39Speaker 2: But then they get on the boat and the captain
- 34:40Speaker 2: refuses to take him because police and Homeland security start
- 34:45Speaker 2: showing up right as they were about to pull off.
- 34:47Speaker 1: They're one step ahead of me at all times.
- 34:51Speaker 2: And for some reason, they cut away from that so
- 34:53Speaker 2: we can go so June Sarpong can talk to some
- 34:56Speaker 2: fucking guy. Yeah, Kansas.
- 34:59Speaker 1: Yeah, again, this episode is so scattershot, and he's.
- 35:03Speaker 2: He's very worried about hoof and mouth disease, which was
- 35:07Speaker 2: super duper in the news in twenty ten, but twenty
- 35:11Speaker 2: twenty one, and I feel like those fears were a
- 35:12Speaker 2: little unfounded for sure.
- 35:14Speaker 1: I mean, again, this is an awful disease that I
- 35:17Speaker 1: would hate to have, like.
- 35:19Speaker 2: Human to get it. I don't think humans can get it,
- 35:21Speaker 2: can they put in?
- 35:22Speaker 1: I believe so. I believe there's it's foot and mouth
- 35:25Speaker 1: disease is the but I could be totally wrong. But
- 35:27Speaker 1: also like in like I was saying at the top
- 35:30Speaker 1: of the show, like the even if it's just something
- 35:33Speaker 1: to affix cows in livestock, like that could be a
- 35:37Speaker 1: huge crisis. But yeah, no, yeah, kids, people can get it. Yeah,
- 35:42Speaker 1: you can get It's it's not as bad as in
- 35:45Speaker 1: as in animals, but but yeah, like if something were
- 35:47Speaker 1: to happen to that, we would be fucked.
- 35:49Speaker 2: The editing in this section is maddening. They just keep
- 35:52Speaker 2: cutting back and forth between Jesse Ventura and June Sarpong.
- 35:56Speaker 2: They're completely different parts of the country talking about completely
- 35:59Speaker 2: different snouts. Back to Alex and Jesse, they finally found
- 36:03Speaker 2: a captain willing to take him to Plumb Island, a
- 36:05Speaker 2: real renegade. He's got a skull and crossbones flag on
- 36:08Speaker 2: his boat. He's a pirate essentially.
- 36:11Speaker 1: Hell yeah.
- 36:12Speaker 2: He's accompanied by a former Plum Island employee named Jim McCoy,
- 36:16Speaker 2: who alleges he was fired after threatening to blow the
- 36:20Speaker 2: whistle on what they were doing there. And uh, this
- 36:23Speaker 2: is where we learned the boat chase was a lot
- 36:25Speaker 2: less dramatic than they made it out to be.
- 36:27Speaker 1: Yeah, it was. It wasn't so much a chase as
- 36:30Speaker 1: it was like two boats passing in the.
- 36:34Speaker 2: Yeah, just two boats going out to do their respective jobs.
- 36:38Speaker 2: The coast guard, Yeah, they just followed them for a
- 36:40Speaker 2: little bit, didn't stop them. Jesse venture at one point
- 36:43Speaker 2: gets on the edge of the boat and starts shouting
- 36:45Speaker 2: at him.
- 36:47Speaker 1: That is just his vibe, like that is it feels
- 36:51Speaker 1: like he could start doing that at the drop of
- 36:53Speaker 1: the hat in basically in these situation.
- 36:56Speaker 2: And I don't wish government assassination on anyone, but god,
- 37:00Speaker 2: that would have been a funny time for it.
- 37:02Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, that's the problem with government assassins is they
- 37:05Speaker 1: don't have any comedic timing exactly like they shot Kennedy
- 37:09Speaker 1: while he's in a car, yeah.
- 37:11Speaker 2: Next to next to his wife, have some respect?
- 37:14Speaker 1: Yeah, like you could. There's so many funnier moments to
- 37:18Speaker 1: kill JFK. Like how about while he's banging Marylyn Row right?
- 37:22Speaker 2: Uh? Anyway, anyway, moving on, so Jim McCoy. He says
- 37:30Speaker 2: he interrupted a meeting at the Administration building while working
- 37:33Speaker 2: at Plumb Island, and it sounds like maybe that's why
- 37:36Speaker 2: he got fired for crashing this meeting as opposed to
- 37:40Speaker 2: asking you know, he asked about security and monitoring inside
- 37:45Speaker 2: the bio containment area. So it sounds like he just
- 37:47Speaker 2: kicked in the door of this meeting and it was
- 37:49Speaker 2: like I have questions.
- 37:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like it Basically any workplace, if you
- 37:56Speaker 1: barged in on a managerial meeting and we're like, look,
- 38:00Speaker 1: I have some very serious concerns about the security at
- 38:03Speaker 1: this movie theater, they would fucking fire you.
- 38:06Speaker 2: Yeah, They're gonna be like, HR will address them, thank you.
- 38:10Speaker 2: But he says that for for bringing all this, all
- 38:15Speaker 2: these questions up, he was fired. Uh, but who knows.
- 38:19Speaker 4: Yeah, and then there's so many people on here who
- 38:22Speaker 4: are who just say shit and then provide no evidence,
- 38:27Speaker 4: and then you're just like, who knows, I don't know.
- 38:30Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a big part of this series in general.
- 38:33Speaker 2: So Coastguard shows up again, so they decide they need
- 38:36Speaker 2: to leave. He's very mad that as a former governor
- 38:40Speaker 2: he's not allowed access to Plumb Island. As we discussed,
- 38:43Speaker 2: how come we the people aren't the boss anymore. We're
- 38:47Speaker 2: the ones paying salaries of these people, and they deprive
- 38:51Speaker 2: us of letting us know what they do on this island.
- 38:54Speaker 1: And you know what, He's right, They should just let
- 38:57Speaker 1: anyone into the war room. They should just so. You
- 39:00Speaker 1: should just have like a velvet rope that you can
- 39:02Speaker 1: stand behind and watch the top secret meetings.
- 39:05Speaker 2: You couldn't go to Buffalo Wild Wings headquarters and do that.
- 39:10Speaker 1: That is so true. There's basically no like. There's security
- 39:15Speaker 1: at every corporate headquarters, every building, every major skyscraper has
- 39:20Speaker 1: fucking security.
- 39:21Speaker 2: And here's how I know that because I have a
- 39:23Speaker 2: friend in Clint, who was absolutely obsessed with Buffalo Wild Wings.
- 39:29Speaker 2: He would go multiple times a week. He would buy
- 39:32Speaker 2: like hundreds of dollars in gift cards around Christmas because
- 39:36Speaker 2: if you bought like twenty five dollars worth, you got
- 39:40Speaker 2: a five dollars gift card. So it was like just
- 39:42Speaker 2: free money he could spend at Buffalo Wild Wings And
- 39:46Speaker 2: at one point they're headquarters is in Minneapolis, and at
- 39:49Speaker 2: one point he called them and was like, look, I'm
- 39:52Speaker 2: an investor, which he is. He was like, I love
- 39:56Speaker 2: the store. What do you say? I get like a
- 39:58Speaker 2: tour of the headquarters and like the test kitchen and
- 40:01Speaker 2: stuff like that. And they were like absolutely not. Who
- 40:05Speaker 2: do you think you are?
- 40:07Speaker 1: That's extremely funny.
- 40:09Speaker 2: I So if Clint can't get into b dubs HQ,
- 40:13Speaker 2: Jesse Venture is not getting into Plumb Island.
- 40:16Speaker 1: I mean think about it. Nobody could get into Willy
- 40:18Speaker 1: Wonka's chocolate factory for decades after he closed the gates exactly,
- 40:23Speaker 1: no one went in or out.
- 40:25Speaker 2: You gotta have that bioweapon ticket to get into.
- 40:28Speaker 1: Plumb Island, Yeah, the radioactive ticket.
- 40:32Speaker 2: So they Jesse Ventura goes to ask some questions. He
- 40:37Speaker 2: loves talking to a congressman.
- 40:38Speaker 1: Yeah, because they're accessible, Like congressman got time.
- 40:42Speaker 2: Yeah, there's there's gonna be another one in the next episode. Yeah,
- 40:47Speaker 2: he goes and talks to Congressman Timothy Bishop. He brings
- 40:51Speaker 2: up all this stuff about plum Island, like the Nazi thing.
- 40:53Speaker 2: That's great, But what's Timothy Bishop gonna do? Like, yeah,
- 40:58Speaker 2: he doesn't, he's not He doesn't have any answers, Like
- 41:01Speaker 2: he just says he trusts what the government tells him.
- 41:03Speaker 1: It's like, oh, which does which? Fucking pissed Jesse off.
- 41:09Speaker 1: He repeated that line. He repeats that line five This
- 41:13Speaker 1: is the very end of the episode, and at least
- 41:15Speaker 1: five more times after this. He says, but I guess
- 41:19Speaker 1: I'm just not the type to believe whatever the government
- 41:23Speaker 1: kills me. Like that really got under his skin. He was,
- 41:28Speaker 1: he was all over that one.
- 41:30Speaker 2: I did edit an older episode of this podcast recently.
- 41:33Speaker 2: I think you were on it. Danger Van Gorder was
- 41:36Speaker 2: on it, and I think Rivers Langley. At one point,
- 41:39Speaker 2: Danger said he's pretty sure we know everything bad the
- 41:44Speaker 2: government has done because of the Freedom of Information Act
- 41:47Speaker 2: request and the room exploded and everyone was like, what
- 41:53Speaker 2: the fuck are you talking about? You think we know
- 41:57Speaker 2: everything because of the freedom of information?
- 42:00Speaker 1: Oh my god.
- 42:00Speaker 2: And here's the thing about Danger, He has a run
- 42:03Speaker 2: for office a couple of times, So take a job
- 42:07Speaker 2: to be like, yeah, man, government works exactly like they
- 42:10Speaker 2: say it does exactly. Yeah.
- 42:11Speaker 1: I don't know if I was on that episode, but
- 42:13Speaker 1: I you are definitely jumped to a bunch of retorts
- 42:17Speaker 1: to that. As soon as you said that, it's like,
- 42:20Speaker 1: wait a minute, what we know everything. There's like a
- 42:24Speaker 1: fifty year like gap onoy. You gotta like have a
- 42:28Speaker 1: bunch of time.
- 42:29Speaker 2: So yeah, they they talk about Plumb Islands more with
- 42:32Speaker 2: this this congressman, he just talks to more people. I
- 42:35Speaker 2: don't know nothing. Yeah, nothing really happens.
- 42:39Speaker 1: After he goes to the congressman. That's basically it. Like
- 42:42Speaker 1: he he talks to like one or two more people
- 42:44Speaker 1: about the same shit and just keeps repeating. You know,
- 42:47Speaker 1: maybe some people would believe what the government tells them,
- 42:51Speaker 1: but I'm going to keep asking questions.
- 42:54Speaker 2: I love that the last line is, uh, if you
- 42:57Speaker 2: have a pet, make sure to check it for two.
- 43:00Speaker 2: That's just good advice. You could like Bob Barker the
- 43:03Speaker 2: end of every episode with that.
- 43:05Speaker 1: I was just about to say, it's just like Bob
- 43:07Speaker 1: Barker telling you is Spey and Dooder that's so funny.
- 43:11Speaker 2: Nine eleven was an inside job. Check your Pets for ticks?
- 43:15Speaker 1: Yeah, that should just be his regular sign off. That
- 43:19Speaker 1: would be great.
- 43:20Speaker 2: That's gonna be the sign off of this podcast from now.
- 43:23Speaker 1: Oh yeah, check.
- 43:24Speaker 2: Your pets for ticks everybody. So that's the end of
- 43:27Speaker 2: the episode. Jesse Venture is very angry. Yeah, uh, Plumb Island.
- 43:31Speaker 2: I don't know. Yeah, I don't doubt that we're working
- 43:34Speaker 2: on bio weapons somewhere. Maybe it's at Plumb Island, maybe
- 43:38Speaker 2: it's not.
- 43:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I just I really don't think off the coast
- 43:43Speaker 1: of like the Hamptons is gonna be a place where
- 43:47Speaker 1: they put a bio weapons facility because there's a lot
- 43:50Speaker 1: of rich people, and rich people will fucking destroy the
- 43:54Speaker 1: government if they can.
- 43:56Speaker 2: Yeah, it would be a risky place to put it.
- 43:58Speaker 2: We would almost certainly put it in another country.
- 44:01Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying.
- 44:03Speaker 2: It's probably in one of those Pacific islands that we
- 44:06Speaker 2: send all the spam to, yeah.
- 44:08Speaker 1: Or it's yeah, exactly, or it's probably fucking Guantanamo, like
- 44:13Speaker 1: you know, who knows. I don't know. Like I'm not
- 44:16Speaker 1: saying that the government isn't doing awful shit, but home Island.
- 44:20Speaker 1: You know, we do need places to study animal diseases.
- 44:24Speaker 1: It's an important field of work.
- 44:26Speaker 2: And if all that's ever washed ashore is lime disease
- 44:29Speaker 2: and a weird looking raccoon keivin how long it's been there,
- 44:32Speaker 2: that's not bad exactly.
- 44:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, oh, there is one thing. The one
- 44:37Speaker 1: thing we didn't talk about is that, like some I
- 44:41Speaker 1: can't remember which guy tells a story about a cow
- 44:44Speaker 1: breaking loose from the facility and infecting all of the
- 44:48Speaker 1: other cows in the pin and so they had to
- 44:52Speaker 1: kill all of the cows. And they make it sound
- 44:56Speaker 1: like this is like horrific, like this is a like
- 45:00Speaker 1: government corruptioning on. Well I'm like, that's what literally any
- 45:04Speaker 1: form would do. You can't keep them alive.
- 45:07Speaker 2: Yeah, that I am. When they said that, I was like,
- 45:09Speaker 2: I imagine that happens all the time, exactly. If one if
- 45:12Speaker 2: one cow makes a bunch of cows sick, then right,
- 45:15Speaker 2: that's a good way to spread it. You're gonna kill
- 45:17Speaker 2: them anyway, right.
- 45:18Speaker 1: There's there's not really any other way to handle that situation, honestly, Like,
- 45:24Speaker 1: you know, it's unfortunate, but true.
- 45:26Speaker 2: You handle it with a well thought out campaign of
- 45:29Speaker 2: awareness on social media.
- 45:31Speaker 1: Yeah exactly, Yeah, tell the cows to wash their hands,
- 45:35Speaker 1: and so that's the episode.
- 45:39Speaker 2: Uh, next week I think I'm doing I'm going to
- 45:42Speaker 2: finish out the I've been doing some solo episodes about
- 45:46Speaker 2: a book called the CIA and the Cult of Intelligence,
- 45:49Speaker 2: because I'm not going to ask people to read a
- 45:51Speaker 2: whole fucking book. And then we will continue this series
- 45:57Speaker 2: after that with part two Area fifty one, which how
- 46:01Speaker 2: did that not come up on season one? That's such
- 46:03Speaker 2: a big one.
- 46:05Speaker 1: Seriously that that's wild. They must have been like, we'll
- 46:09Speaker 1: wait till we have a bigger budget in the season.
- 46:12Speaker 2: So they can storm area fifty one exactly. I'm surprised
- 46:16Speaker 2: that exact phrase isn't used at all.
- 46:18Speaker 1: In that episode, right, Yeah, yeah, Jesse venturin Naruto runs
- 46:22Speaker 1: into the area fifty one.
- 46:26Speaker 2: So until then, do we have anything to plug Olivia?
- 46:30Speaker 1: How about you can find me on Twitter at high
- 46:32Speaker 1: there Hidar if you would like to other than that,
- 46:36Speaker 1: not not particularly.
- 46:39Speaker 2: Patreon dot com, slash on Pops on Pops networked out,
- 46:41Speaker 2: Supercast dot tech. You can subscribe for bonus episodes there also,
- 46:46Speaker 2: And I think that's it. Let's get the fuck out
- 46:48Speaker 2: of here Olivia say goodbye bye, goodbye everybody. We love you.
- 47:01Speaker 1: Expect about another stab, another
- 47:11Speaker 4: St
