- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: Five, six, seven, eight, seven.
- 0:04[SPEAKER_01]: Seven.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_01]: Seven.
- 0:07[SPEAKER_01]: That's how many beers we have.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_01]: We have a drink to get through this season.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_01]: Here we go.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_01]: Hi everybody.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome back to Come We're to say with Tara and Haley.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_01]: I'm Tara.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_01]: This is Haley.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_01]: Hi, Haley.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_01]: Hi, Tara.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_01]: We didn't drink any beers to get through the season to be completely fair.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_01]: And if we did, we would have been more than seven, unfortunately.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because of course we're here today to talk about season seven, because we finally finished on Patreon.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_01]: Last week, you guys got the finale, Bon voyage.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_01]: And here we are to talk as we do have a little bit more to say about season seven.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_02]: We don't have quite a bit to say.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_02]: Well, at the same time, we could say nothing.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I have so much to say and yet nothing at all.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_02]: And yet no thoughts on my head except nothing but thoughts.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_01]: I have so many thoughts that I can't wait to read to you what I wrote here in my notes because there are just so many things or as I was typing I was like
- 1:06[SPEAKER_02]: What is this?
- 1:07[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like I had like a mix of that where I was like I have so many thoughts I can't stop typing and then other times where I'm like I have so many thoughts I actually can't say anything any of them all.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_02]: I just have to just gesture wildly as exactly just gesture all around.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_02]: But before we get to season seven something a lot better than season seven is there is a book coming out on August fifth called once upon a time in a dolly wood by Ashley Jordan and I'm really excited because I'm going to be her conversation partner at her release event in Atlanta.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_01]: I am so excited for you.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_01]: I just feel like that's such
- 1:43[SPEAKER_01]: a perfect thing for you to do.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_01]: Like you are the right person for this.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_02]: I just think it honestly feels like such an honor because I didn't realize it was for her release event on August fifth.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_02]: It's at a bookstore.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_02]: It's a romance only bookstore in Atlanta called All the Troops on August fifth.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_02]: We'll put the description and the link for tickets in our show notes.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_02]: But like, truly, it just feels like such an honor to get to talk to her on her release day and front of her readers.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_02]: It's I think it's going to be so much fun.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_02]: But I wanted to tell y'all a little bit about the book.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_02]: Tell me event that you want to come and hang out in the Ashley and get your book signed and have a nice little romance evening.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_02]: But it is called once upon a time in Daliwood.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_02]: A playwright must grapple with her difficult year and writers block while falling for this single dad living next door in a emotional debut novel from Ashley Jordan.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_02]: Eve may be a rising star playwright, but her personal life is falling apart as it does.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_02]: Like you do, desperate for a fresh start, she breaks up with a fiance, cuts off her parents and heads to the Tennessee mountains.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_02]: But keeping up the lie that she's just on a riding retreat becomes nearing possible when faced with the well-meaning towns people and a neighbor who has just as much baggage as she does.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_02]: Coming off a contentious custody battle, Jamie is restructuring what his life looks like as a single dad, and spending more days at his cabin makes his new free time a little less empty, especially when he meets the beautiful and prickly woman next door.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_02]: The last thing he needs is a new romance to shake up his family dynamics even more, but there's something about Eve.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_02]: When what starts out as a fling quickly becomes more serious, and it's not long before Eve is running scared once again.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_02]: She's loved and lost, and every possible way, and risking it one more time could finally break her.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_02]: But like the fireflies that filled the mountains around them, Jamie's and Eve's lives keep falling into sync.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_02]: A fairy tale ending could be in the cards, but only if the new couple can get out of their heads and put their hearts first.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_02]: And I, I feel like that's like such like a Gilmore girl's E. Oh totally.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_02]: I know that actually loves lots of TV.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know her feelings on Gilmore girls yet.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_02]: But I feel like single dad in a custody battle.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_02]: Like we saw a version of that in season seven.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_02]: Someone who comes in, breaks off an engagement, cuts off their parents, new and town, very lower lie.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_02]: Totally.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_02]: No, I feel like it's something, it's like the townspeople, the well-meaning townspeople.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, this is, this could definitely fall into that vibe.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_00]: Totally.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_02]: It grows readers.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_00]: Totally great.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_02]: But if you guys want to come to the release event in Atlanta, I will be there in conversation with Ashley Jordan for her debut novel and the release day.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just so excited.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just going to be so much so excited for you.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to knock it out of the park.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be so cool.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I wish I could go.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_01]: I hope so.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_02]: I know, I wish you could come down, but I'm super excited.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_02]: I'm super honored to be there with Ashley for her debut release day.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_02]: And I hope that you're there too.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I hope that some of our listeners can come out to support Ashley to support you.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_01]: It sounds like a really Gilmore girls see trope
- 4:55[SPEAKER_01]: You know, the Gilmour Girls tropes all rolled into one.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_01]: So I think people will like it.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_01]: I think so, too.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_01]: Very cool.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_01]: I was excited.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_01]: We'll put it on our show notes that you guys have all of the info that you need and we'll also put it in the notes for some of the socials.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_01]: You'll see it.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_01]: You'll see it.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_02]: Don't worry.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_01]: I'm moving into the season seven of it all.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_01]: Speaking of custody battle.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_01]: Gosh, let's get into season seven.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_01]: So season seven is as we dubbed it, the season of the sheet cake.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_01]: And what we mean by that and what we talked about a lot of Patreon is that Gilmore Girls is a very rich, very delicious layer cake.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_01]: right layered layer upon layer upon layer of plot characters you know conflict it's just it's constantly layered and it's always sending us up for something new even if we don't know that word being set up for something new and season seven compared to the layer cake that Gilmore Girls was leading up to this season as unfortunately a sheet cake it's like they're giving us a little layer single layer it's it's
- 6:06[SPEAKER_01]: Like there's no real, listen, Costco can make, and other people can make some really great sheet cakes.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not going to turn down a sheet cake.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_02]: No, I'm sure it's going to eat it.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to eat it.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_01]: But like a percent, there's no nuance to it.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_01]: There's not a lot of depth.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_01]: It's a little dry and it's like they're trying to give us like vanilla frosting out of a can and tell us it's buttercream.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_02]: And it's like they just want to feed as many people as possible.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_02]: They're not going for flavor for just like all of the elements of things.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not going to quote from my great British bake-off era that I had to end very abruptly.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_02]: I really had a knock-off in the season seven.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I was, it was for my own good.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_02]: But no, that's what we've been calling it.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_02]: We've called it a sheet cake.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_02]: Sometimes it's just a bite of cake.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_02]: Sometimes it doesn't even have frosting.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_02]: I know.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_02]: It's just a dry cake.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_01]: And don't get us wrong.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_01]: There are some moments that we enjoyed.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_01]: We'll definitely talk about that in this episode.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_01]: But just to give you guys a feeling and it's, and we're like, we didn't realize this come from.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, totally.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_01]: But before we get into it, I want to just read off to you all of the notes that I took this season episode by episode.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_01]: So let's start with season seven episode one, the long morrow.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_01]: And I wrote, it's a tough start out here.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_01]: Lots of air, lots of cringey writing moments, some good moments between the Gilmore girls, but not enough to feel like we're home.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_01]: episode two, that's what you get folks for making what be some semblance of Gilmore girls in this one but also a pretty offensive episode in the cultural appropriation, shift in cinematography and angles that really shows us that this isn't Gilmore girls anymore.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_01]: This is Gilmore girls in an alternate universe.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like that was the episode.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_01]: It's like out the gate we were like, where are we?
- 7:52[SPEAKER_01]: This is the Long Maro.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_01]: Lorelai's first Catillian starts to pick up a little bit, we said, fine episode, but kind of simple, everyone's feeling very edgy in this episode.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_01]: And then we get to swanirful smartballists, which we were both really excited to watch.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but for us ended up being kind of a mid episode, though we wrote so far the best episode of this season, but the bar is low, sending us up kind of like Gilmourer's ish, we feel, it's fine.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_01]: It was fun.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_01]: I loved that.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_01]: It's fun.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_01]: It's fun.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_01]: It's fun.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_01]: It's fun.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_01]: The great stink so far the best Tony episode.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_01]: The characters are starting to feel like themselves again.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_01]: The comedy was there.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_01]: The drama felt a little thin.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_01]: This season is a sheet cake amidst a series that is a layer cake.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_01]: That's where we started to call it a sheet cake.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's why I started to watch great.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_01]: And thus the baking references started coming out.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_01]: Episode six go Bulldogs so far the best episode.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_01]: The season the structures back the punchlines are back.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_01]: We are so back.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_01]: David and Rebecca are a great team, which of course is David's wasn't all and Rebecca Rand Kirchner, who had been a part of the series when Amy and Dan were there.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_01]: So them co writing an episode together did feel really, really solid.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_01]: Episode seven is French twist, which, eh, remember in the last episode, we said we were so back.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_01]: We were so, we so left.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_01]: We wrote, eh, kind of a boring episode, setting up a lot of plot, lots of potential here, but didn't stick the landing.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_01]: we would correct a lot of this.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_01]: And throughout this season, we did also note the things that we would change, the things that we felt were not necessarily plot holes, but maybe like redundant plots from past seasons, we're cycling plots almost inconsistencies with the original series.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_01]: Totally.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_01]: And so we're going to talk about that in a later episode, because as we've mentioned, the next couple episodes here on Pod are going to be about season seven.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_01]: But we promise we're going to be fun.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_01]: because we're gonna do like a what if season negative.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_01]: No, not at all.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_01]: We're gonna do like a what if season seven kind of using the things that we would change plot holes or plot lines recycled and Kind of spin it into how we would rewrite season seven and kind of course correct a little bit and hit you with some what if so I'm very excited about that and also a GTC so that you guys can call in and yeah tell us all your thoughts all that's okay
- 10:20[SPEAKER_01]: then episode eight was introducing lower-life planetarium, which of course is when Chris and Laura like come back from France and they tell worry that there are many lots of setbacks, no vibes, all interior scenes, but I wrote love the ending in all caps.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_01]: So it had a little bit of redemption.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_01]: You knit.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_01]: People knit was a lot of setup.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_01]: Still some good vibes, good dialogue, good laughs, but some cringey and boring moments.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_01]: And then we get to Mary Fisty Cuffs, which of course we all know what that episode is.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_01]: And I wrote, this was a tough watch.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_01]: Scenes have a ton of air, no real vibes, only drama.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_01]: And then we moved on to Santa Secret stuff.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_01]: I said this was really boring and slow.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_01]: Some cozy vibes at the end, because you know, Laura lies mailing in the character reference, it goes to the mailbox, and it's snowing.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_01]: And like, there is some cozyness doing.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_02]: Singing.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, God.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_02]: I was gonna go to school.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you have to do it as long as you did.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_02]: It was so long.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_02]: If we had cut it, that episode wouldn't have as long as it was.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that part did make me laugh, but I don't think it was supposed to make me laugh.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think it was.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_02]: I think it was, but it's like we're like, oh, that, oh, oh, oh, watch, oh, oh wow, that breath work crazy.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_01]: Wow, good for you, honestly.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_02]: There you go, way to go.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_01]: So then we go to episode twelve to whom it may concern.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_01]: This was a really tough episode for us.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_01]: Blink and jean, sir.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_01]: Well, actually, it really did deeply concern us.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_02]: Well, at the same time, it was not concerning us.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_02]: It was not addressed to us.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_01]: I said, Blink and her jean tough stories pretty brutal.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_01]: And this one is a really cold episode because it is all about that custody battle.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_01]: And it is just, it felt so the antithesis of Gilmore girls.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_01]: There was no comedic relief.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_01]: There was no brightness.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_01]: There was nothing that kind of angered you into this world where, as Lauren Graham says, nothing really bad happens.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_01]: This just felt all drama.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_02]: And everything bad was happening.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_01]: The stakes were just so high and so sad and it just felt sterile.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_02]: But, oddly, we found out the professor about Belle is also a bailiff.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, right.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_01]: Gorgeous.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_01]: Also a bailiff.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_01]: Also a talent.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_00]: That was also a yell-basser.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_02]: But, you know, it's funny in that.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_02]: So, I was going back because there's one character in particular.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_02]: I wanted to remember what they were builders, like a very small part.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_02]: And I was like clicking through and he is build as professor Belle in that episode.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_00]: Shut up!
- 13:04[SPEAKER_00]: He is truly the one who has been live, but he is professor Bell.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_02]: But it's professor Bell.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_02]: I love that.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_02]: I know it was like because that's who he is in the show.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_02]: Like they're like if they play multiple like different characters, but I was like
- 13:16[SPEAKER_02]: Well, let's, he's a police officer.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_02]: The big lip for whatever they call them.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, totally.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_02]: So I was like really surprised.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_01]: They made a little funny.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_02]: Because we were like, Professor Bowie, what are you doing here?
- 13:26[SPEAKER_02]: What the heck are you doing here, buddy?
- 13:27[SPEAKER_02]: He was Professor Bowie.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_01]: He was the name DB.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I love that we recognize him and that he is in fact, who he says he is.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_01]: Episode thirteen is I'd rather be in Philadelphia and I have a lot to say on that later.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_01]: Um, it's an episode that you and I, I think when we talked about season seven in our season six recap, we were like, you know, I think this is an episode where we're really going to enjoy.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_01]: I wrote way better episode than the ones we've been getting, good callbacks to forgiveness and stuff.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_01]: Next is fair.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_01]: Well, my pet, of course, when Laura Lye and Chris Breakup, Michelle has the funeral for, is it pop our attention?
- 14:03[SPEAKER_02]: I do believe it's chin, chin, chin, chin.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_02]: Now I'm not sure though.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, Madeleine and Louise all over again.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_02]: But even worse, because they are literally literally, they literally look like.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_01]: But I wrote not a great episode, but some funny moments.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_01]: A missed opportunity to be a big townies episode.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, I remember that.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_02]: That's like the one, like thing that I remember about that one versus will you be my Laura like it more?
- 14:28[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, it's like we wanted those vibes.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_02]: Wanted to be able to show it for me show.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and we feel like part of the reason that farewell my pet was not a huge townies episode is because the next one is will you be in my lore like Gilmore and that was one of not to bury the lead our favorite episodes of the season it was a fantastic episode not perfect but a great season seven episode
- 14:48[SPEAKER_01]: I really loved this episode.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_01]: Logan's storyline is clunky and not fun to watch, but we still really loved it.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was just a really, it was just a really good episode.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't know if it's a good episode because the ones that came before it were not great.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_01]: Like we were really trying to figure out how to rank these episodes and rate these episodes, because we were like on a curve.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, exactly.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_02]: There is one point when Tara was like, I am rating these on a curve.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_02]: Was on your perception rating.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_02]: because like the previous seasons we weren't doing that.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_01]: Like we were breathing them from hearing them to themselves.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_01]: I guess we are with this, but like it's just different.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_01]: It's not written by Amy.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_02]: It's not.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_02]: I did see because I was like looking some stuff about about season seven.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_02]: that some people don't even notice that it's that different.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_02]: They're like, why season seven bad?
- 15:36[SPEAKER_02]: And it really is the writing.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_02]: Like, truly, I think like in all of these episode reflections that you're offering, it really does come down to the writing.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_02]: Which I know is true because if there was no writing, that would be no show.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_02]: But it just means like the dialogue, the way that everything's happening.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_01]: The structure, the plot lines, the characteristics.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_02]: Which is all of it.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_01]: The show.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_01]: I do think that the reason that will you be my lure like Gilmore impacts farewell my pet is because it's such a strong towny episode and that's probably why we liked it so much.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_01]: But we wanted that inserted and injected into farewell my pet I just think it would have been a stronger episode had they had more townies participate all last cinnamon's wake.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_02]: Cause like, you're telling me the babette wasn't gonna show up for me, shall we?
- 16:24[SPEAKER_01]: You're telling me that Laura lives out bringing Paul and God to the funeral.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_01]: Be so for real.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe he wasn't contracted, maybe.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_01]: He must not have been.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_01]: What a star.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, truly.
- 16:35[SPEAKER_01]: Episode sixteen is Gilmore girls only when the girlies go to fake me as wedding.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_01]: And that one we said a clunky and bumpy and boring road trip could have been done better.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_01]: Dr. points for fake me up.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_02]: Could have been an email.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_01]: Honestly, it could have been an email.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, Bill May, this is the next episode episode, so it's seven-teen, awkward episodes, so much unmet townny potential.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_01]: Haley doesn't like Logan.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_01]: Cowabunga dude in my heart.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_02]: Listen, that's real that we've hosted about that line.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_02]: There was a lot of people who disagreed or they were saying that they felt like we were taking out of context, even though we talked about the show within the context of it, that he was speaking like Laura Laiwaz.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_02]: and more like shouldn't have even been speaking like that.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_02]: Like it's truly like the most wild thing for someone to say seriously.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_02]: Like he was trying to like, speak in the way that she was, but it was quite literally the wildest thing to say.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_02]: And no one can convince me that that is going to lie.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_02]: No, but he calls her sweetie.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, he does.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_01]: And then he says one of the worst lines.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_02]: one if it's like a like a within two minutes he's he's got me down bad and like a like I've been kicked yeah not in the like downbed kind of gym sort of way yeah yeah no not like that episode he teen is it's just like writing a bike and we liked this episode
- 18:01[SPEAKER_01]: Lots of notes, the bones were there, but it didn't live up to the potential that it had.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_01]: You didn't love it.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_01]: I liked the end of it, and we like what it could have been because there are some really great lower-line loop moments.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_01]: We're returning home to their banter.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_01]: I love the end of it when he comes to her house and tells her everything that he's done for the Jeep, because this is, of course, the episode where Laura and her car breaks down,
- 18:28[SPEAKER_01]: She has to go get a new car, she and Luke are trying to reconcile in some way and be friends and kind of return to some semblance of normalcy.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_01]: He goes with her, it's awkward and then finally they start fighting and that is when things feel normal between the two of them.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_02]: It really is that last scene when he comes up to her house and tells her how it is or what he's done for her.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_02]: It really that one for me was the amount of phone calls that took place.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_02]: One sided phone calls.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_01]: There were so many one sided phone calls in that episode that we were like, why?
- 18:57[SPEAKER_01]: Why did you do this?
- 18:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it truly didn't make me so weird.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I still stand by that, but it was really the last five minutes of that episode, the phone.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_01]: So, so good.
- 19:08[SPEAKER_01]: Finally, I was like, oh, okay, here we are.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_01]: So then we end literally at the end.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 19:14[SPEAKER_01]: For God, I am Kaya Kermi-Warr.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_01]: That's episode fifteen.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_01]: Apparently I didn't write any notes down for it.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so mad at myself because that's so weird.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_01]: I can't believe that I missed that.
- 19:25[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, because this is the one where we were so confused because the line is I am Kaya Kermi-Warr.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_02]: And so the title is, I might have to hear more guys.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_02]: We don't understand what happened there.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_02]: I just remember really loving the connection that Emily and Laura Lai had.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_02]: I remember my feelings as a whole for the episode.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_02]: I just remember really appreciating.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_02]: That is on Mr. Richard Gilmore was in his tracksuit.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_02]: And we liked the fact that he didn't... Not for too far from a suit.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's true.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_01]: He is never too far from a suit that man, whether it's a...
- 20:02[SPEAKER_01]: Regular suit or a track suit.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_02]: Three piece or two piece tracks.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's true.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_01]: So number fifteen is I am a kayak hear me roar.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_01]: Sixteen is will you be my Laura Leigh Gilmore.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_01]: Seventeen is Gilmore girls only.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_01]: Eighteen hey Bill Mays.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_01]: Nineteen.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_01]: It's just like writing a bike.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_01]: Episode twenty is Laura Leigh.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_01]: Laura Leigh.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_01]: We're famously Logan proposes at the end.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_01]: I like this episode.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_01]: He asks for proposals to lure lie proposing.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_01]: Proposes to lure lie.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_01]: Some am moments, but a solid episode, I thought, how did you feel about it?
- 20:35[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like we were returning to our roots in some ways.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_01]: In some ways, yeah.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it's a big town episode.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_01]: We get the, I will always love you.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_01]: We do.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_01]: Talk about long.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_01]: Talk about long, singing.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_02]: That was one of the ones we recap live with our vicious shots on Patreon.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_02]: And someone said, they got, they had to get all the usage out of the song rights.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_02]: They weren't going to just do a clip of it.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_02]: That's so true.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_02]: But I think that my main takeaway was Logan's ugly purple shirt.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_01]: And then, if you say, you didn't like us ugly purple shirt.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't, I think that's one of the worst.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_02]: So if it's on the show, this is ugly purple shirt.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, it was a surprise.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_01]: Haley does not like Logan in this season.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_02]: I have nothing but things to say about this man.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_02]: I actually, I will, I have a lot to say.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_02]: So we'll say I can't wait.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_02]: That portion I inserted.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_01]: Episode twenty one is unto the breach.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_01]: Me, not great.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_01]: Matt at Logan.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_01]: Lots of that love and character moments for a lot of people Yeah, and of course Yeah, and then episode twenty two is Bon voyage a very solid series finale you guys heard a sweet cap at last week Obviously we had some notes we had some things that we were like, uh, what a change to this or what a change that but honestly a really great season finale after a pretty rocky season Can I tell you ever since I think when we recapped season seven I've had beep beep have a good time
- 22:07[SPEAKER_01]: I sang it in the shower the other day.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_01]: Beep, beep, have a good time.
- 22:12[SPEAKER_02]: Also, uh, by little Sebastian.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_01]: At least, I mean, that song was just like just for your reference.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_02]: Those two have been like alternating and Mona Lisa for a while.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I know.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_02]: Entrepreneur Bador.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's true.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_02]: which a little fall preview, we might be having a little troupe door on the podcast as well.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe we do.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_02]: I posted on Instagram.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_02]: I was in the screen.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_01]: They all know.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_01]: So, we'll be on this fall.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_01]: Or if you're not on Instagram, yeah.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_01]: If you're not on Instagram, yeah.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_01]: If you're not on Instagram, yeah.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_01]: If you're not on Instagram, yeah.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_01]: If you're not on Instagram, yeah.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_01]: If you're not on Instagram, yeah.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_01]: If you're not on Instagram, yeah.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_01]: If you're not on Instagram, yeah.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_01]: If you're not on Instagram, yeah.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_01]: If you're not on Instagram, yeah.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_01]: If you're not on Instagram, yeah.
- 22:45[SPEAKER_01]: If you're not on Instagram, yeah.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_01]: If you're not on Instagram, yeah.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_01]: If you're not on Instagram, yeah.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_01]: If you're not on Instagram, yeah.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_02]: If you're not on Instagram, yeah.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_01]: If you're not on Instagram, yeah.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_01]: If you're not on Instagram, yeah.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_01]: If you
- 22:53[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so excited for you guys.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_01]: Listen to that episode.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_02]: And can I tell you, sometimes listening to people on podcasts, like, their voice is not necessarily, like, I don't align with them.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_02]: So sometimes that's why, like, to get about our podcasts, I might have other words enjoyed.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_02]: I loved listening to him talk.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_02]: He said, the quality of his speaking voice is excellent.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, Oh, love.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_02]: The best he's like, I love this.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_02]: Not only will they love Grandly Phillips, but just like listening to him talk.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_02]: It's just so.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's really nice.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_01]: It's calming.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know why I instantly felt calm upon talking to him.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_01]: He's very intentional, very thoughtful.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, he remembers a lot from the show.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_01]: He does.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I was so pleasantly surprised.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_02]: I'm a new album.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_02]: No, but like you sometimes when you talk to people, you have no idea the context of or like, of how they're going through.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_00]: It's been five years ago.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_02]: I know, but he remembered his, remembered lines, episode titles like it was so great.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_02]: And it's all because he's a new album coming out.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_02]: That's fall called in the hour of dust in September.
- 23:52[SPEAKER_02]: It just feels like the true word or is with you because he is.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_02]: That's what that's to be is, but it's all original music.
- 23:57[SPEAKER_02]: And it's, it's so wonderful.
- 23:59[SPEAKER_02]: So, I like to say a little bit towards the song.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_01]: That's why I'm the only sister I've ever had because we recorded with him yesterday and it was awesome.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_02]: But B.P.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_02]: Have a good time.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_02]: B.P.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_01]: So funny.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_02]: So he didn't listen last to last week's episode.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_02]: That might be a confusing reference.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_01]: He did to go to my castle.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, Cristiano, for anyway.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_01]: So let's start.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_01]: We have of course the usual superlatives and rankings that we'd like to do with every season recap.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to start with the star of the season.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_01]: Who was the star of the season for you?
- 24:37[SPEAKER_02]: I have two stars at the season and it is going to set the tone, not that we haven't already set the tone for this episode.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_02]: But I really had to think a lot about this.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_02]: I actually thought about it.
- 24:50[SPEAKER_02]: Well, as I'm a walking pad this morning, I think you're going to be blown away by my selections.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_02]: I have two.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 24:59[SPEAKER_01]: April and Zach.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_01]: Zach is the star of the season.
- 25:05[SPEAKER_02]: He's the star of the season.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_02]: And he started to laugh.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_02]: He's so hard.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_02]: He, his arc changes drastically.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_02]: Drastically comes very intentional.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_02]: He, he had a rocky start, but by the end of it, I was so teamsack.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_01]: Honestly, same.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_01]: Season seven makes you teamsack, which is how you know it's not going to work.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that if I can give Kudos to the season seven writers, where it's due, it is that they made Zach a much more likable character for him.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't lane.
- 25:34[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely, and April, and I feel like April was just a character who I ended up adoring.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_01]: We also really liked her in season six.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_01]: We thought she was dead.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_01]: And so funny.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_01]: And she continues to be.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, she does fall off mid season.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_02]: She does have the custody battle and she moves new Mexico.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_01]: And there are some one side of conversations kind of there too.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_01]: That we're just gonna be like, all right.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, but um, I love when she gives Luke the bracelet.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, she's adorned now.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so of course she's adorned.
- 26:08[SPEAKER_02]: Cause you got it, your experience, but she gives Luke a bracelet and he wears it like I really
- 26:14[SPEAKER_02]: I think that Luke is shining brightest when he is like an acting parent, like a pseudo parent, like he's actually a parent here.
- 26:22[SPEAKER_02]: But it's like I love his not to bring Jess into this.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_02]: He's not even in this season.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_02]: But like, please, he's like a relationship with Jess.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_02]: Like, he's a relationship with Lori because like we are going through season one right now for our future Patreon endeavors.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_02]: And I just feel like Luke does best as a father.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_01]: He's a really good dad.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_01]: Whether it's, you know, like he said recently or whether he's actually being a parent to April, he is a really good dad.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he's really proud of her.
- 26:55[SPEAKER_02]: He has, yeah.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_01]: So he really grows in the season though.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not a huge fan of him for a lot of the season.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_01]: He does grow.
- 27:02[SPEAKER_02]: I know.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_02]: I'm a fan of him in April.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_02]: And me too.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_02]: Not much else.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_01]: Not much else.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_01]: Who are your stars?
- 27:10[SPEAKER_01]: I think Zack is really the person that surprised me the most.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_01]: And as always, Paul Inca.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god, we didn't see him enough.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_01]: No, we didn't.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't contractive for enough episodes.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_01]: Here's what I will also say is that despite the writing being, you know, a little off-kilter, I think that Lauren did her very best to bring the character of Laurel I to life to like breathe that life back into the character despite the writing not helping her out very much.
- 27:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I agree.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_02]: Like aligning her.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_02]: She did her best of it.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_02]: Round peg into a square hole.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_02]: Correct.
- 27:48[SPEAKER_02]: So to speak.
- 27:48[SPEAKER_02]: But I agree.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_02]: It was still, it was still my mom.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_02]: It was still Laura's mom.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, she was still there.
- 27:53[SPEAKER_01]: And as was worried, but not as much as.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_01]: in my opinion more like.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_02]: And I didn't see it was kind of on an offer Paris.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I agree.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_01]: I agree.
- 28:18[SPEAKER_01]: But everybody else just felt a little to the left, which brings me to new characters.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_01]: I wrote everyone because no one is really who they're looking for.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_02]: Wait, I have that for some of that.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_02]: But I will see if there's a lot of new characters.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like in other seasons we have like huge groups of introductions.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_02]: But not so much in this one.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_02]: Can tell you my first new character is the rocket.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, that is a character.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_01]: It does play role.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_02]: I decided that was character.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 28:54[SPEAKER_01]: My first character is Charlotte, the proper little lady from lower-rise first Catillian.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you know, it's funny.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of people have been sending me this post.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_02]: I don't remember the name of the actors who play Charlotte, but she's obviously grown now because this was quite some time ago this aired when she was butter child.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_02]: I think the joke that's made in the episode when she is at dinner is something along the lines of
- 29:18[SPEAKER_02]: There's nothing funny about being a lesbian and she posted her like little self like a from like a screen gap from that episode And shared it because she like the actress is a lesbian and so like she was like She didn't even know then like about her own self a lot of people have shared that with me, but I just thought that was really funny, but um
- 29:39[SPEAKER_02]: I think she is a musician now.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_02]: Good for her.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_02]: I actually want to look up her name.
- 29:44[SPEAKER_02]: Her name is Hanna Lee and her Instagram is Hanna Lee official and she's like an actress musician and she shared that.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_02]: Very good.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_02]: And everyone sent it to me and I was like, I've seen this y'all.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_03]: But very cute.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_02]: But she looks so, it's like when you see a picture of like a young someone and see them when they've gotten older and like that's so cute.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_01]: Very warm.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_02]: So cute.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_02]: Shout out to Hannah.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_01]: Shout out, Hannah Lee.
- 30:08[SPEAKER_01]: Um, Lucy and Olivia, of course, are new characters are introduced in season seven.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_01]: I also wrote down Marty apparently because he's now playing the role of boyfriend.
- 30:16[SPEAKER_01]: I wrote Marty to point out.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_01]: That is kind of a new introduction to the whole character.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_01]: My fan boyfriend.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I wrote the professor that worry is a crush on Tucker Tucker.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_01]: Is that his name?
- 30:33[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, sure.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_02]: You actually forgot Nick Phillip Bobby the team started with a team of course Bobby how could be forget and then just Bobby who did nothing wrong who just works in a male dominated field
- 30:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, Bobby did, maybe unpopular opinion or maybe a very popular one.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_01]: Bobby did not.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_02]: It should be very popular.
- 31:00[SPEAKER_02]: She adjusted up.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_02]: She was just trying to make her way correct as a woman and with her male colleagues.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 31:08[SPEAKER_01]: I have Hugo.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_02]: Hugo, Hugo Gray.
- 31:12[SPEAKER_02]: Very important later on.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_01]: A very important pivotal character.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_01]: I have friends at the nurse who we feel very sorry for.
- 31:20[SPEAKER_02]: who's name I love.
- 31:21[SPEAKER_02]: I still love that name so much.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_01]: I do too.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_01]: And then fake me and her husband.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_02]: I also have literally the worst lawyer to ever lawyer was Luke's lawyer in his custody battle.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_02]: Jim.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_02]: Jim McNally.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_02]: Boo.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_02]: The judge.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_01]: The judge.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_01]: That's true.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_02]: Faith.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_02]: Professor Bell as a famous fellow.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_02]: I'm faking you on Howard, of course.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_02]: The hey, that felt like a character, but the reason I looked up.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_02]: But the reason I was on IMDB earlier is because I was looking up kids and Claire with thin Claire's who were that family that were staying at the same time.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_02]: And the only reason I remembered him was because he is the brother of the kid who plays Luke on modern family.
- 32:08[SPEAKER_01]: And he was thought it was him.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_02]: I thought it was him.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, you look so familiar.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_02]: And he just looks a lot like his brother.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_02]: And he makes us kids and Claire.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_02]: Thanks, kids and Claire.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_02]: And him and Logan Bonded.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for your great for your service.
- 32:21[SPEAKER_01]: Great job.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, I don't feel like there was a lot of new characters.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_01]: Well, not a lot of new characters.
- 32:26[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, my gosh.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_01]: Steve and Juan.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, duh.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, of course.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_01]: It's a beauty babies.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_01]: A little bit of babies.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_01]: I think the ones who make the most impact are, of course, Lucy and Olivia and the reintroduction of Marty.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_01]: I think that, you know, the team that Logan works with maybe makes some of an impact until like we literally never see them again.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_02]: Is it Philip the one that calls?
- 32:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_02]: I've got some grim news.
- 32:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 32:49[SPEAKER_02]: I'm fucking ruin your birthday.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_01]: I do.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_01]: I do when you're birthday.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_01]: I have things to say about that in a minute.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, everybody else is kind of like, all right, one and done.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_02]: one and done.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_02]: And you feel like that's that's kind of a lot of what the conflict is in this season.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_02]: Like it's just like kind of all over the place.
- 33:08[SPEAKER_02]: So I feel like the introduction of people.
- 33:09[SPEAKER_02]: It's like they're all kind of one off.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, we fare in past seasons.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_02]: It's open.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_02]: There's been a lot of one off.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_01]: Totally.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_01]: That's fair.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, so let's move into plot holes.
- 33:20[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, because I know a lot of the pot holes were going to address in what if, um, and like kind of create new paths for them.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_02]: And it's less pot holes.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_02]: What?
- 33:31[SPEAKER_02]: And it's less pot holes.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, and it's that makes sense.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_02]: We're just driving on the road and it's just bumpy.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_02]: That's just falling into Grand Canyon style.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's less plot holes.
- 33:43[SPEAKER_01]: It's more plot head scratchers.
- 33:46[SPEAKER_01]: It's like characters doing things that are so out of character that it feels like a plot hole, but there is one major one in this season that you and I just such issue it because we're very confused.
- 33:59[SPEAKER_01]: And that is, well, it all centers around Logan.
- 34:03[SPEAKER_01]: First of all, in onto the breach when he says, when you and remember when we were in the life and death brigade, I'm like, did you guys even watch this series before you wrote that line?
- 34:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, where he was never in the life and death brigade.
- 34:14[SPEAKER_02]: That was the whole point.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_02]: That was the whole point.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_02]: And I know a lot of people have said the implication of the gorilla mask, the bottle of champagne returning her camera is now she's in the life and death brigade.
- 34:28[SPEAKER_02]: But like,
- 34:29[SPEAKER_02]: I just like, in season six when they're like, the life and death brigade needs to get back together, like, they're planning a her apartment.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think it means she's part of it.
- 34:38[SPEAKER_01]: No, I think she's just... I think it's just about it.
- 34:40[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's just an become a situation where they're just like, not keeping it a secret anymore.
- 34:44[SPEAKER_02]: Especially for like, because like, she's been exactly, she's been to an event and her boyfriend is somehow involved in this.
- 34:52[SPEAKER_02]: So she's not like, totally.
- 34:54[SPEAKER_02]: But I don't under any circumstances think that she's in life and death brigade.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_02]: But for some reason her boyfriend who is, I believe she was.
- 35:01[SPEAKER_02]: Apparently.
- 35:03[SPEAKER_01]: But another major plot hole that surrounds Logan is in this whole exchange of him buying an internet company and then telling us his dad was not a part of it, he's doing it in on his own.
- 35:15[SPEAKER_01]: And then all of a sudden his dad is somehow a part of it.
- 35:17[SPEAKER_01]: And I want to break down for you, the rabbit hole I went down for this plot hole.
- 35:22[SPEAKER_02]: It actually doesn't make sense from the beginning.
- 35:24[SPEAKER_02]: Correct.
- 35:26[SPEAKER_02]: He in famously my favorite episode.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_01]: He went to London.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_01]: He goes to London.
- 35:30[SPEAKER_01]: And then in the great stink he comes back.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_01]: He surprises Rory on the rooftop.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_01]: And he says the website my team has been trying to buy the owners finally agreed to sit down talk to a tomorrow over breakfast.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_01]: And that is when Bobby and Philip and what's the other guy's name?
- 35:45[SPEAKER_02]: Nick.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 35:46[SPEAKER_01]: They're all.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, they're all introduced the team.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_01]: And so we assume that they are part of the Huntsburg group in some way.
- 35:55[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think like they work with him in London because they all have British accents.
- 35:59[SPEAKER_01]: That's true.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_01]: They do.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_01]: On text clues, but then Logan comes back and he moves to New York, right?
- 36:07[SPEAKER_01]: Is it for Noah?
- 36:07[SPEAKER_01]: Isn't that acquisition?
- 36:09[SPEAKER_02]: They never explained why he, why this was such a content just plot point for him to move to London.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_02]: And then by the fall, he's back back.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_02]: Why was anyone upset to begin with?
- 36:23[SPEAKER_01]: Totally agree.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_01]: So then when we get to I'd rather be in Philadelphia and Logan is there with worry because we'll set Philip.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_01]: Richard is in the hospital.
- 36:33[SPEAKER_01]: So many names.
- 36:34[SPEAKER_01]: So little time.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_01]: What a like the main character.
- 36:39[SPEAKER_02]: That's a bad.
- 36:39[SPEAKER_02]: Makes up their names.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah.
- 36:41[SPEAKER_01]: It's because I said Philadelphia and then I was like, oh.
- 36:44[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I'd rather be in Philip Delphio.
- 36:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly.
- 36:46[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, Logan and Roy go back to the Gilmores and their gathering things.
- 36:51[SPEAKER_01]: And Logan's phone is basically blowing up because he tells Roy he wants to buy another internet company.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_01]: It's a web base interactive media platform where members can share videos, articles, ideas, anything, which we thought was very ahead of its time, right?
- 37:04[SPEAKER_01]: That's kind of what?
- 37:05[SPEAKER_02]: It's basically Tumblr, right?
- 37:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, kind of.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_01]: He's willing to sell it for only him five million dollars this guy who built it and he says he's he Logan is putting up three million of his own money from his trust fund and it's trying to line up a hedge fund to kick in the other two.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_01]: He tells Rory who asks like hey what about your dad and he says Logan verbatim when I pitched
- 37:30[SPEAKER_01]: I went to him, I pitched the idea, he rejected it.
- 37:34[SPEAKER_01]: So he is literally doing this on his own quote unquote, right?
- 37:38[SPEAKER_02]: Like part of the confusion in that is that like I would think that because he's working for a company, he can't go off and do things on the side on his own, right, unless that's like, that's part of the confusing part there, but it only gets market-feasing.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, so in I'm a kayak here, me, where which famously I forgot to list in the episodes.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_01]: Moving gets a phone call from Philip, because this is his birthday episode.
- 38:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's his birthday.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_01]: And as you were talking about before, Philip calls him and says, we just got up with a scary phone call.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_01]: He's also in like a dark room.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, Philip, are you okay?
- 38:15[SPEAKER_02]: Turn the light on.
- 38:16[SPEAKER_01]: They got a season to says from
- 38:17[SPEAKER_01]: prism active this tech company in Palo Alto which is claiming prior art on the media ten platform that I assume is the media ten platform that they just bought so Philip is also involved somehow and that's also confusing yeah um they're claiming patent infringement the company is worthless because it was already owned they were just waiting for some of the pockets to buy it before they sued
- 38:43[SPEAKER_01]: So Logan was basically like baited into buying this tech company, only to discover that it was one plus.
- 38:50[SPEAKER_01]: And he takes ownership of the fact that he fucked up.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_01]: But he's now hiding from his dad, because in Will you be my laurel like Omar, which is the episode where lanes.
- 39:00[SPEAKER_01]: Baby shower is happening.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 39:02[SPEAKER_01]: Logan tells Roy the company I bought the new business I was trying to start.
- 39:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's a bust.
- 39:06[SPEAKER_01]: We're going belly up because of me.
- 39:08[SPEAKER_01]: I lost everybody's money.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_01]: My money.
- 39:10[SPEAKER_01]: My dad's money.
- 39:12[SPEAKER_01]: All our investors money.
- 39:13[SPEAKER_01]: The parking lot attendance money.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_01]: The hot talk vendors money.
- 39:17[SPEAKER_01]: Which doesn't make sense.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_01]: This is a media company.
- 39:19[SPEAKER_01]: Is this a theme park?
- 39:21[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 39:22[SPEAKER_01]: And then he says, I lost money.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't even know I had.
- 39:25[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like, OK, I thought you were just not to poo poo two million dollars.
- 39:31[SPEAKER_01]: But I thought you were just going to get a hedge fund to, you know, pop it up, pop it up, pop it just be the two of you.
- 39:36[SPEAKER_01]: Correct.
- 39:37[SPEAKER_01]: So then and go more girls only when
- 39:41[SPEAKER_01]: This is when she's wearing that cute outfit.
- 39:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, and Mad Mitchum comes in as the title on the box set.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Mad Mitchum.
- 39:48[SPEAKER_01]: Mitchum tells Logan that Stephen Berry in legal are going to sit you down.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_01]: Steve and Barry in legal are going to sit you down trying sort out this mess you made.
- 39:58[SPEAKER_01]: So his company isn't involved.
- 40:01[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, this is why it's so confusing, because first of all, what does Logan even do?
- 40:07[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 40:08[SPEAKER_02]: It's like that thing that Lois says he goes to work and he consults on insurance.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
- 40:14[SPEAKER_01]: Give us another reason to bring Logan and Richard into a parallel.
- 40:19[SPEAKER_01]: You know, that's kind of the vibe.
- 40:22[SPEAKER_01]: But he tells Rory when he shows up at the wedding in North Carolina.
- 40:26[SPEAKER_01]: I am officially not working for the Huntsburg Group anymore.
- 40:30[SPEAKER_02]: And this is where we got really mad at him because we're like, okay, so just disregard the fact that none of this made sense.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_02]: You left everyone else to deal with the mess that you made.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_02]: In the in the name of like leaving for thinking that like now I'm free.
- 40:48[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, pretty much the mess behind you pretty much.
- 40:54[SPEAKER_01]: So that was the major plot hole for me that I just, and then Logan just continues to be a walking talking plot hole because, you know, you know, all sense was made.
- 41:04[SPEAKER_01]: No, because he's like, hey, I'll factor you and if you factor me in kind of a thing and tells her to go do what she wants to do, her being worried and that he'll basically follow her wherever she wants to go.
- 41:14[SPEAKER_01]: And then he proposes to her and when she says she's not ready, he leaves.
- 41:19[SPEAKER_01]: It just, you've always taken issue with that storyline.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't really make a ton of sense considering where he's come from.
- 41:24[SPEAKER_02]: No, it's like, I'll factor you in.
- 41:26[SPEAKER_02]: Like, you do what you want, but I'm in a factor you in.
- 41:29[SPEAKER_02]: Until I get a job and I decide that we're gonna have an avocado tree and you're gonna be my wife and if you're not gonna be my wife, I don't want to be with you.
- 41:35[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 41:36[SPEAKER_02]: So I have factored nothing.
- 41:37[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 41:38[SPEAKER_02]: It's not for my own wants and needs.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 41:40[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, it's no.
- 41:41[SPEAKER_01]: So I thought what was right.
- 41:42[SPEAKER_02]: What is Logan's job?
- 41:44[SPEAKER_02]: What is his job?
- 41:45[SPEAKER_02]: Like, how did he, how did he, how did we get from parties to introducing while I plan to her in the oven?
- 41:52[SPEAKER_02]: He was like, yeah, I'm moving to Newark.
- 41:54[SPEAKER_02]: Remember when we were sad?
- 41:55[SPEAKER_02]: We were not sad anymore.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 41:58[SPEAKER_02]: I just doesn't make any sense.
- 41:59[SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't.
- 42:00[SPEAKER_02]: Did you have any other plot holes?
- 42:02[SPEAKER_02]: This was something that, like, I don't know if it's necessarily a plot hole.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_02]: Wait, let me get to that one, because I do want to talk about them.
- 42:10[SPEAKER_02]: There's like small ones that I have, because I was like, I don't even know where to begin, because I always feel like a plot hole.
- 42:14[SPEAKER_01]: I literally wrote where do we start?
- 42:16[SPEAKER_02]: It was like, how, it was like, how did Laura, I know that Luke changed his hat?
- 42:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, she hadn't been in there, like, same with Rory.
- 42:24[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, yeah, that was no kind of inconsistent.
- 42:28[SPEAKER_02]: Since when can Lorelei cook snails, when will Lorelei ever cook snails, very inconsistent that Lorelei would even get married without Rory?
- 42:34[SPEAKER_02]: Like, don't believe that for a second.
- 42:36[SPEAKER_02]: Lorelei has never been to a Catillion before, so for like, one hundred percent.
- 42:42[SPEAKER_02]: It's just small things like that.
- 42:42[SPEAKER_02]: They're really just build up.
- 42:43[SPEAKER_02]: Totally.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_02]: What is going on?
- 42:45[SPEAKER_02]: But this isn't a plot hole because it's not in the story, but it creates a plot hole when you see it that it's not there.
- 42:56[SPEAKER_02]: And that is a deleted scene from the great sting.
- 42:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, which you would have to go back and watch it and it's entirety, but like basically it's this moment where Luke sees Lorelie with Chris.
- 43:10[SPEAKER_02]: and it kind of prompts this almost like change in him kind of like redirection that he gets that doesn't make any sense that he's doing within the story until you see that deleted scene and you're just like whoa whoa wait why did we delete this like there's like this whole like bonfire there's this whole thing that's going on that doesn't need to be a part of it that could have like a little bit down really yeah absolutely
- 43:40[SPEAKER_01]: The reason that they're having this bonfire, it's like everyone in the town is having this fire, it's because they're trying to extinguish the pickle smell.
- 43:45[SPEAKER_02]: The smell.
- 43:46[SPEAKER_01]: And he's there with April.
- 43:47[SPEAKER_01]: And the whole scene is kind of like hokey a little bit.
- 43:50[SPEAKER_01]: It's like that scene.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't really matter.
- 43:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_02]: It's really that Luke sees Lorelie driving by in Chris's passenger seat.
- 43:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 44:00[SPEAKER_02]: She doesn't see him.
- 44:01[SPEAKER_01]: No, but he watches her drive by.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 44:04[SPEAKER_01]: And so we're like, OK, he knows.
- 44:07[SPEAKER_01]: That's the first time that he understands that they're together.
- 44:10[SPEAKER_01]: And it never really comes back around.
- 44:13[SPEAKER_01]: He does see them walking together in what knit people knit.
- 44:19[SPEAKER_02]: Because he runs into Dula.
- 44:25[SPEAKER_02]: He's with Dula, right?
- 44:27[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 44:27[SPEAKER_02]: And they walk out of Dosi.
- 44:28[SPEAKER_02]: Another new character.
- 44:29[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, we forgot about Dula.
- 44:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 44:32[SPEAKER_02]: Not a baby girl.
- 44:33[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 44:35[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to count Stephen Kwan.
- 44:36[SPEAKER_01]: We better include dual light.
- 44:37[SPEAKER_02]: I know, like, oh my gosh, how dare we?
- 44:40[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, that, that to us was really a headscratcher.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_01]: It was like, why did you cut this scene and then kind of not really give us any new discovery on Luke's end?
- 44:51[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 44:52[SPEAKER_02]: And it felt like so much of what, like, his storyline then became was like the catalyst was that moment, right?
- 45:02[SPEAKER_02]: But it was cut.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_02]: And so then it had no connection to what was going on.
- 45:06[SPEAKER_02]: It was just got like naturally sort of happening with no impetus.
- 45:11[SPEAKER_01]: And so, and that also made it really hard for us to believe that at the end, in those last three episodes, all of a sudden, like,
- 45:19[SPEAKER_01]: the two of them are working towards be getting back together.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_01]: It just kind of didn't make any sense.
- 45:24[SPEAKER_01]: It was, it just, it accelerated so fast at the end there that it's like, of course, I think we're all rooting for this, but we don't know how to feel because the writers took everything in such interesting directions, relationship wise.
- 45:39[SPEAKER_01]: We saw this a lot.
- 45:40[SPEAKER_01]: Just direction.
- 45:41[SPEAKER_01]: Just direction.
- 45:43[SPEAKER_01]: But we said there's a lot about season seven that the writers relied so heavily on the world that Amy built for six seasons for us to just care about these characters without them continuing on with the carrying the torch of the layer cake if you will because like
- 46:00[SPEAKER_01]: Logan and Maurice relationship gets really shallow, like no depth whatsoever.
- 46:05[SPEAKER_01]: Everything that's going on with Laura Lyon Luke is like, how are we supposed to feel about that?
- 46:10[SPEAKER_01]: We're not seeing any yearning from either one of them.
- 46:12[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe a little bit more on Laura Lyon's end, but then she has this relation fairly risk.
- 46:17[SPEAKER_01]: And Luke storyline is really about April and then they kind of come back together and there's a little bit of this awkwardness.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_01]: It was just so disjointed as a whole but specifically when it came to the relationships on their show that like we don't like we care because it's go more girls, but we don't care.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it truly is especially with worrying Logan.
- 46:37[SPEAKER_02]: It's relying on the relationship that was built in five and six and arguably that they're stronger now because they went through all of the trials that they did in season six and now they're
- 46:50[SPEAKER_02]: kind of doing long distance.
- 46:51[SPEAKER_02]: They're kind of not.
- 46:52[SPEAKER_02]: They have a lot of cutie moments, but nothing of substance.
- 46:57[SPEAKER_02]: And like the conflicts that they do go through aren't really anything that's like moving either of their characters forward.
- 47:03[SPEAKER_02]: It's just kind of like jostling them around.
- 47:05[SPEAKER_02]: Totally.
- 47:06[SPEAKER_02]: And it's not anything.
- 47:08[SPEAKER_02]: It's really not pushing the platform.
- 47:10[SPEAKER_02]: And it's like disappears and it's gone.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_02]: Totally.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_02]: And a lot of that is Logan's confusing job.
- 47:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but when it came to Luke and Laura, I felt like that scene in the great stink was the beginning of them not really knowing.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_01]: And when I say them, I mean, the writer is not knowing where to guide the audience on, like, who are we rooting for here?
- 47:29[SPEAKER_01]: How do these characters feel?
- 47:31[SPEAKER_01]: Because like, we would have assumed that this would have been kind of an expansion, the expansion, Suhi, the expansion on.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_01]: on the breakup that we see in season five, that there is this rift between, you know, Laura Lyon Luke, there's a rift subsequently between the town.
- 47:50[SPEAKER_01]: Another plot hole for me is that Lyon is so integrated into Luke's world and not at all into Laura Lyon, which feels very off-brand for Lyon.
- 47:58[SPEAKER_02]: That was, like, we said, like, we're kind of, like, splitting things to kind of.
- 48:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was like, they have, like, kind of, to be over certain people.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_02]: Overlane.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_02]: But I'm like, so you do tell me.
- 48:06[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I feel like Lane would have been it for more involved in normalized.
- 48:08[SPEAKER_02]: But it makes me want to do another one of our deleted scene episodes.
- 48:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 48:13[SPEAKER_02]: Because, like, that one just felt, I just remember both of us watching that and being, like, what?
- 48:18[SPEAKER_02]: What?
- 48:19[SPEAKER_02]: How dare you cut that?
- 48:20[SPEAKER_02]: And then, like, the plot rely on that seeing that look.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 48:26[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm still with you.
- 48:27[SPEAKER_02]: It's not really a plot hole because it was not a part of the plot, but it's like we it's almost like we found the the fill for the whole like we could fill the whole you just you had it you just did it
- 48:40[SPEAKER_00]: Why did you do that?
- 48:41[SPEAKER_00]: You chose not to put it in there.
- 48:43[SPEAKER_01]: It was very, very, very weird.
- 48:46[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, seasons have been as a whole, very disjointed as a whole.
- 48:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's a whole kind of adrenaline.
- 48:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we have a lot that we want to kind of rewrite and rewrite our IGHT for our what if episode that I'm excited to get into?
- 49:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm really excited.
- 49:10[SPEAKER_01]: I don't kind of totally fan fiction, you moment in a state.
- 49:12[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 49:13[SPEAKER_01]: I'm really excited about that.
- 49:15[SPEAKER_01]: But let's move into, I know we've talked a lot about what we didn't like.
- 49:18[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about what we did like.
- 49:20[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about our favorite storylines, conflict, how many do you have?
- 49:27[SPEAKER_02]: Not so many.
- 49:29[SPEAKER_02]: I have a handful.
- 49:31[SPEAKER_02]: I, so an episode not to like, you already mentioned this, not to very lead us what I was gonna say, but you already mentioned how much we like to go bulldogs, which is famously, I have really hard times saying why I just said it really well.
- 49:43[SPEAKER_02]: I did really job.
- 49:44[SPEAKER_02]: It's because like I have to slip a little bit into a Southern accent in order to say it, go bulldogs.
- 49:49[SPEAKER_02]: I can't say it.
- 49:50[SPEAKER_02]: It's not in a Southern accent.
- 49:52[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know why.
- 49:54[SPEAKER_02]: Very hard.
- 49:55[SPEAKER_02]: But I really liked Chris realizing that he had been an absent parent for this really smart, really percosious child when he's interacting with all of the other parents at Yale in this episode because it's parents weekend and he's learning about like, he's other parents drove them to hockey and I say T prep and everything that they did for these kids that like they dedicated so much of their life
- 50:24[SPEAKER_02]: to getting them to Yale.
- 50:26[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 50:26[SPEAKER_02]: And Chris was kind of just nodding along, realizing that he never did that.
- 50:31[SPEAKER_02]: And so he's overcompensating for it.
- 50:34[SPEAKER_02]: But ultimately, he kind of has this realization that like he wasn't there and he wants to be.
- 50:38[SPEAKER_02]: And like when he put the, I'm worried Gilmore's dad Chris, I love his child.
- 50:43[SPEAKER_02]: I love Gilmore's child so much.
- 50:45[SPEAKER_02]: I really liked that.
- 50:46[SPEAKER_02]: So that was one of the ones I had.
- 50:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, me too.
- 50:50[SPEAKER_01]: I also really enjoyed the Laura lie Emily conflict within that.
- 50:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like Someone has said something to the effect of why I met your wife and they were like what and then Emily's over there and she's just like peridding around as if not like pretending like she's worries parents, but like no because it says Mrs. Gilmar on her.
- 51:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, Mr. Gilmar and Mrs. Gilmar.
- 51:12[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
- 51:13[SPEAKER_02]: The intact.
- 51:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly.
- 51:17[SPEAKER_01]: And so I love that conflict there and that world is like, what are you doing here?
- 51:20[SPEAKER_01]: And she's like, I'm a grandparent.
- 51:22[SPEAKER_01]: That is apparent.
- 51:23[SPEAKER_01]: And she was like, I don't know, some antics.
- 51:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 51:26[SPEAKER_02]: A grand piano is a type of piano.
- 51:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 51:28[SPEAKER_01]: You got me there.
- 51:30[SPEAKER_01]: It's just the banter was really funny, and so I liked that conflict there.
- 51:33[SPEAKER_01]: I also really liked the idea, and I wish they had pulled it this thread a little more, and I'd like to explore this in our one-off episode of Suki, having a vegetable guy Harvey, he's new in town, and he's a new vegetable supplier.
- 51:47[SPEAKER_01]: And I wanted them to pull it that thread so hard, because his vegetables were really good, and she makes Rattitude with it, or Rattitude, as Rattitude.
- 51:57[SPEAKER_01]: He goes, I love your rettoe.
- 51:59[SPEAKER_01]: And she won't let him try it because it's not his vegetables.
- 52:02[SPEAKER_01]: And she had a vegetable affair.
- 52:03[SPEAKER_01]: She did.
- 52:04[SPEAKER_01]: And I kind of wish that they had pulled on that thread a little more and expanded it beyond just that episode.
- 52:08[SPEAKER_01]: But that was also in Go Bulldogs.
- 52:10[SPEAKER_01]: It just was a really good episode.
- 52:13[SPEAKER_02]: Well, that one felt like so like the potential to be like early season one season two.
- 52:20[SPEAKER_01]: Totally.
- 52:21[SPEAKER_02]: Suki and Jackson, which is just like kind of silly, but like also very serious because like he's a farmer.
- 52:27[SPEAKER_01]: Like, yeah, your husband provides your produce and that's something that we've been talking about a lot lately is that we feel like we're missing the Suki and Jackson.
- 52:35[SPEAKER_01]: from the early seasons, and I think this would have been a really good way to kind of bring them back.
- 52:40[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 52:41[SPEAKER_01]: I would have definitely preferred that to the Fesectomy Conflict.
- 52:44[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, God, we can get to that one in a moment.
- 52:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 52:48[SPEAKER_02]: This one sounds bad, but another favorite is I like when Richard is in the hospital because I like what it does to Laurel and Emily.
- 52:56[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I do like the parallels between forgiveness and stuff and this one in, I'd rather be in Philadelphia, but I really like the arc that it kind of creates for Lorraine Emily in her talking about being a wife and her really realizing that Chris doesn't show up, but then when I'm a kayak here, me more.
- 53:18[SPEAKER_02]: when she's helping her with all the taxes and all of the financial documents and whatnot that has to be done for their lawyer.
- 53:28[SPEAKER_02]: I just like that she's seeing her for the independent woman that she has become.
- 53:34[SPEAKER_02]: I agree.
- 53:36[SPEAKER_02]: She's a kayak.
- 53:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, she's in because Emily's in a canoe Emily's in a canoe and I really like that kind of dynamic between the two of them.
- 53:48[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that creates.
- 53:50[SPEAKER_02]: It is sad that it comes from Richard being in the hospital.
- 53:53[SPEAKER_02]: Any time Richard's in the hospital we have some really good conflict.
- 53:56[SPEAKER_01]: Totally.
- 53:56[SPEAKER_02]: Totally.
- 53:58[SPEAKER_02]: It was about Emily.
- 53:58[SPEAKER_02]: No, I'm so with you.
- 54:03[SPEAKER_01]: I really, this was last one I had, but I did really like though I didn't on the whole like Christopher in the season.
- 54:09[SPEAKER_01]: I did really like when Jackson and Chris go out for that mandated mandate.
- 54:13[SPEAKER_01]: And Jackson is like, I love farming.
- 54:17[SPEAKER_01]: Suhi and I both do.
- 54:19[SPEAKER_01]: And it's basically kind of like a, do you love farming?
- 54:22[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I lower lie.
- 54:23[SPEAKER_01]: Don't fuck this game.
- 54:25[SPEAKER_02]: I love when Chris responds so seriously.
- 54:27[SPEAKER_02]: Like he's like, I love farming.
- 54:29[SPEAKER_02]: I love farming too.
- 54:31[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I really enjoyed that.
- 54:33[SPEAKER_02]: I thought that was- There's never even seen a farm.
- 54:35[SPEAKER_02]: We haven't seen a picture of a farm, please.
- 54:36[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 54:37[SPEAKER_01]: Please.
- 54:38[SPEAKER_01]: But that's the last one I had.
- 54:39[SPEAKER_01]: I enjoyed that.
- 54:40[SPEAKER_01]: And there were probably some other moments throughout the season that I was just like, oh, I enjoyed that.
- 54:47[SPEAKER_01]: They were few and far between unfortunate.
- 54:49[SPEAKER_02]: They were few and they were far between.
- 54:53[SPEAKER_02]: I will add to that.
- 54:54[SPEAKER_02]: I did like the car, um, debacle.
- 54:57[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, car conflict.
- 54:58[SPEAKER_01]: Me too.
- 54:59[SPEAKER_01]: You know what?
- 54:59[SPEAKER_01]: I'm glad you brought that up.
- 55:00[SPEAKER_01]: I also really liked that.
- 55:02[SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was cute.
- 55:03[SPEAKER_02]: I thought that it added this like really awkward layer to it.
- 55:06[SPEAKER_02]: I do think it could have been developed a little bit more because that was the phone call episode where everything happened on one side of phone call, but I just really like what that offered to them.
- 55:16[SPEAKER_02]: I think that they really captured the nature of Lorely's character and like
- 55:23[SPEAKER_02]: how she's kind of like a little OCD, a little obsessive about her belongings, but that she doesn't want to let it go, and she has such an emotional attachment to it, and it irritates Luke.
- 55:36[SPEAKER_02]: beyond belief, but he loves her so much that he is just going to do the thing that irritates him because it's going to make her happy to quote him in the finale.
- 55:47[SPEAKER_02]: I just see you happy that he's going to go through the things that irritate him totally.
- 55:52[SPEAKER_02]: And like that whole little like monologue that he gives at the end of that episode, it's just, oh, totally.
- 55:58[SPEAKER_01]: I agree.
- 55:58[SPEAKER_01]: I agree.
- 55:59[SPEAKER_01]: So good.
- 56:01[SPEAKER_01]: Let's move on to maybe our least faves, which I know.
- 56:05[SPEAKER_01]: We've kind of talked about some of them already.
- 56:08[SPEAKER_01]: You know, obviously the vasectomy were famously not a fan of.
- 56:12[SPEAKER_01]: We think they could have done that differently.
- 56:14[SPEAKER_01]: We've talked about that extensively.
- 56:15[SPEAKER_01]: We don't need to again.
- 56:16[SPEAKER_01]: I just wrote Christopher, generally.
- 56:20[SPEAKER_02]: Can you tell you I actually have like a theme to mine?
- 56:23[SPEAKER_02]: What's your theme?
- 56:24[SPEAKER_02]: Men?
- 56:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 56:27[SPEAKER_02]: I wrote Chris, Marty, Luke, Jackson, Logan.
- 56:30[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 56:31[SPEAKER_02]: Um, Logan's our proposal.
- 56:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, starting with Chris just didn't love, you know, here's just didn't love.
- 56:39[SPEAKER_01]: I
- 56:40[SPEAKER_01]: I don't really love.
- 56:41[SPEAKER_01]: Here's what I'll add to Storylines I love.
- 56:45[SPEAKER_01]: I loved and you all know this.
- 56:46[SPEAKER_01]: This wonderful, marvelous, drive-and-date.
- 56:49[SPEAKER_01]: I loved and bad.
- 56:51[SPEAKER_01]: We can give him that.
- 56:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 56:53[SPEAKER_02]: But on the whole, I felt like the day tour, the nature of the day, I didn't like because it felt like he was pushing her.
- 57:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 57:05[SPEAKER_01]: And a direction that she and he says as much at the end of their relationship, he's like, I push you and you weren't ready.
- 57:11[SPEAKER_01]: And so it's like, good.
- 57:12[SPEAKER_01]: I'm glad you finally acknowledge you finally did.
- 57:15[SPEAKER_01]: Cute day, but you were pushing yeah, definitely and so that's kind of what I don't fully love I have said in the past that I feel like you know
- 57:24[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe these characters needed to get together to show us themselves, why they didn't work, and why they won't work ever.
- 57:32[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think it necessarily has to do with Luke.
- 57:36[SPEAKER_01]: I think that Luke is a giant factor, but I think no matter what, this relationship was never going to fully last.
- 57:45[SPEAKER_01]: That was a very long time.
- 57:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, and that was the thing that Chris said at the end is like don't don't make me think this is all in my head about Luke kind of like it is because it's you you had it and you fumbled it Yeah, and from like beginning to end of like I will say we like to go bulldogs, but like they're getting married and France and the fact that He didn't think that this would upset Rory and just like the way that he kind of crumbled to his perception of Luke
- 58:13[SPEAKER_02]: They're fight.
- 58:14[SPEAKER_02]: Oh my god.
- 58:15[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 58:16[SPEAKER_02]: One of the worst scenes on the show, like horrible, but also fantastic.
- 58:20[SPEAKER_02]: I can only hear it with room five playing in background.
- 58:24[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I know.
- 58:24[SPEAKER_01]: It's just so good.
- 58:25[SPEAKER_01]: And I will.
- 58:26[SPEAKER_01]: I was going to add this as a plot hole, and then I changed my mind, but I changed my mind back again.
- 58:29[SPEAKER_01]: Oh.
- 58:30[SPEAKER_01]: When, uh, Laura like goes to the hospital because of April's appendix, which I still don't understand why Luke called her.
- 58:40[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like he could have called a number of people before he called Laura like, considering one one.
- 58:45[SPEAKER_01]: The nature correct the nature of their relationship.
- 58:48[SPEAKER_01]: But Chris seems completely fine with her going to check on April.
- 58:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 58:52[SPEAKER_01]: And then all of a sudden around Mary Fistikovs, he's all put out that Lucy's Dula.
- 58:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 58:59[SPEAKER_01]: That like Luke is
- 59:01[SPEAKER_01]: is around and, you know, I, I'm like, where did this come from?
- 59:07[SPEAKER_01]: And then all of a sudden he's like, he punched me in the face.
- 59:09[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, oh, right.
- 59:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that did happen in the first episode.
- 59:11[SPEAKER_01]: But you seem to be totally fine with Laura like going to the hospital to check on April.
- 59:15[SPEAKER_01]: And now all of a sudden you're mad again.
- 59:17[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm confused.
- 59:18[SPEAKER_01]: I'm very confused.
- 59:20[SPEAKER_01]: And then he orders quite possibly one of the worst lines that's ever been said on Gilmore Girls after he sees Luke and Laura like together with Dula.
- 59:27[SPEAKER_01]: And that's, let's make a baby.
- 59:32[SPEAKER_02]: And from there, I was like, okay, okay, okay, there was one that was equally bad in Paris though.
- 59:38[SPEAKER_02]: After they clearly, they had just had sex and he said something while I'm going, like, that's what I'm talking about.
- 59:42[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 59:43[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I forget what it was, but I was just like, oh, that's so bad.
- 59:46[SPEAKER_00]: So bad.
- 59:47[SPEAKER_00]: So bad.
- 59:47[SPEAKER_00]: So bad.
- 59:47[SPEAKER_02]: So bad.
- 59:47[SPEAKER_02]: So bad.
- 59:47[SPEAKER_02]: So bad.
- 59:48[SPEAKER_02]: So bad.
- 59:48[SPEAKER_02]: So bad.
- 59:48[SPEAKER_02]: So bad.
- 59:49[SPEAKER_02]: Let's make a baby.
- 59:50[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I don't really know.
- 59:51[SPEAKER_02]: Pretty tough.
- 59:52[SPEAKER_02]: Pretty bad.
- 59:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that was big bad.
- 59:55[SPEAKER_02]: Big BIG.
- 59:56[SPEAKER_02]: Bad BIG.
- 59:57[SPEAKER_02]: Bad BOMD.
- 1:00:00[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, I think there's so much of Chris that just like didn't make sense.
- 1:00:04[SPEAKER_02]: And maybe that was his chaotic manic nature that he seemed like what was spinning in his mind was very different than what we were all seeing.
- 1:00:14[SPEAKER_02]: But I just really hated that he was like, don't make me think this is all in my head.
- 1:00:19[SPEAKER_02]: He was like talking about just started wailing on each other.
- 1:00:22[SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, yeah, it is all in your head.
- 1:00:24[SPEAKER_02]: This is between you and Luke.
- 1:00:25[SPEAKER_02]: I'm so sorry.
- 1:00:26[SPEAKER_02]: This is nothing to do with her.
- 1:00:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, she's done nothing.
- 1:00:29[SPEAKER_02]: She's done nothing like that because the thing that we come back to is like, I think that Laura like had given up on Luke as my teacher.
- 1:00:36[SPEAKER_02]: We project onto her that she is pining for Luke because of the nature of like the ending of like where we go in the revival.
- 1:00:44[SPEAKER_02]: What we want for her.
- 1:00:45[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think she's pining for him.
- 1:00:47[SPEAKER_01]: I agree with you.
- 1:00:47[SPEAKER_02]: Pining for someone that is so mean to you at the beginning of the season.
- 1:00:50[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, the things she said.
- 1:00:52[SPEAKER_02]: We're so mean.
- 1:00:54[SPEAKER_02]: And that's why he's one of my least favorite I totally agree lines is because of how mean he is and it's like I can't I took me quite a while to recover from that to get to just like writing a bike when he is like Loving her in the way that he always has it took me quite some time to get to that point from mean mean Luke in the street
- 1:01:14[SPEAKER_01]: I totally agree, and this is where I say that they relied to heavily on the points from the past and the relationships, from the past, to carry them, to carry them with us into season seven, where we're supposed to just automatically assume the lower lie is pining for loop because we talked about this extensively on Patreon when we got to kind of the apex of the season where
- 1:01:37[SPEAKER_01]: things with Chris and Laura Lair falling apart, that it's like he's blaming her and accusing her of a lot of things.
- 1:01:42[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, Chris, they're literally, this is an insecurity within you.
- 1:01:47[SPEAKER_01]: This is an issue that you have with Luke.
- 1:01:50[SPEAKER_01]: She's not giving you any reason to doubt her, to not trust her, to assume that she's not in this for the right reasons.
- 1:01:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I, it kind of reminds me of that moment when Suki brings over Luke's coffee, and she tells him where it's from, and it's like, my dude, Suki brought it.
- 1:02:06[SPEAKER_02]: Why are you mad to drink good coffee?
- 1:02:09[SPEAKER_02]: Like there's just like so many elements of it that it's just like you are making this up in your head because Laura I did not go to Luke's talk to Luke have like a pal around with Luke and bring that coffee from her ex-boyfriend's coffee shop.
- 1:02:21[SPEAKER_02]: Suki brought it.
- 1:02:22[SPEAKER_02]: One hundred percent.
- 1:02:23[SPEAKER_01]: So chill.
- 1:02:26[SPEAKER_01]: Chip, like chill.
- 1:02:27[SPEAKER_01]: You could have, and you know, I'm glad that he didn't, but he absolutely could have continued this relationship.
- 1:02:33[SPEAKER_01]: And she would have been perfectly fine.
- 1:02:35[SPEAKER_01]: Laura, lie.
- 1:02:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, continuing on that way.
- 1:02:36[SPEAKER_01]: They would have figured it out.
- 1:02:37[SPEAKER_01]: They would have figured it out.
- 1:02:38[SPEAKER_01]: But, and this is where I say that the relationship wouldn't have lasted is because I do think that they could have carried on like this.
- 1:02:45[SPEAKER_01]: Do I think it would have been a forever relationship?
- 1:02:47[SPEAKER_01]: Probably not.
- 1:02:49[SPEAKER_01]: Probably not because they could never work it out.
- 1:02:51[SPEAKER_01]: They were never in the right place at the right time with each other as they love to safe famously throughout their show.
- 1:02:55[SPEAKER_01]: But I do put a lot of that on Chris for this one.
- 1:02:58[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't that lower life was like, oh, I'm not over this guy.
- 1:03:02[SPEAKER_01]: It's it was more over that.
- 1:03:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, she wasn't a hundred percent ready or healed.
- 1:03:07[SPEAKER_01]: But she wasn't pining for Luke at least.
- 1:03:09[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 1:03:09[SPEAKER_01]: So maybe all disagree.
- 1:03:10[SPEAKER_01]: And if you do call in, but I don't think that she was pining for Luke.
- 1:03:13[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 1:03:14[SPEAKER_01]: With Chris.
- 1:03:15[SPEAKER_02]: And part of it was he found the letter.
- 1:03:17[SPEAKER_02]: And he said that it read like a love letter, the character reference.
- 1:03:20[SPEAKER_02]: And there's just part of it that I like can't quite understand why what you brought up earlier that Chris was so okay with the more like going to the hospital when April was in the hospital to be there for Luke.
- 1:03:32[SPEAKER_02]: But not help him do anything to keep his daughter.
- 1:03:37[SPEAKER_02]: I agree.
- 1:03:39[SPEAKER_01]: Especially after Chris was like, oh, how's April?
- 1:03:44[SPEAKER_02]: And he was like, I read like a love letter and you're like, okay, well, I actually sent it to a court of law.
- 1:03:51[SPEAKER_01]: So I decided to him directly.
- 1:03:52[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't mail it with a heart stamp on the ballot.
- 1:03:55[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't kiss and spray my perfume on it.
- 1:03:57[SPEAKER_02]: I'll let El Woods wasn't print out pink paper.
- 1:04:00[SPEAKER_02]: I sent it to you.
- 1:04:01[SPEAKER_02]: A court to a lawyer who wasn't that good, but I saved the day Jim exactly.
- 1:04:07[SPEAKER_01]: So honestly, he has ruined Chris.
- 1:04:12[SPEAKER_01]: He's his own worst enemy, you know, Chris is ruined Chris.
- 1:04:15[SPEAKER_01]: Chris is ruined Chris.
- 1:04:16[SPEAKER_01]: No, yeah, it's like he, um, he's a soft saboteur, you know, and
- 1:04:23[SPEAKER_01]: I put that on him though.
- 1:04:24[SPEAKER_01]: I think the writers wanted us to believe that Laurel I was pining for loop just simply because of where we came from in season six and what we started season seven with it's like, but you never gave us any reason to believe.
- 1:04:35[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry.
- 1:04:35[SPEAKER_02]: Or the heaps really pining for her all that matrix out for that one scene that was deleted and see correct.
- 1:04:40[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:04:41[SPEAKER_01]: But another man who messes things up, Marty, Marty was in there for me.
- 1:04:47[SPEAKER_01]: We really didn't like this conflict.
- 1:04:49[SPEAKER_01]: We have a lot that we would correct with it, that we discussed on Patreon that we will discuss in our what if.
- 1:04:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, seven episodes.
- 1:04:55[SPEAKER_01]: Some ways that maybe it wouldn't have been so damning to his character.
- 1:05:01[SPEAKER_02]: again everybody's everybody's a new character in this season yeah it really was he lied about knowing her and you're like what was the reason what was the reason why still will never understand yeah but um surprisingly I did I did want to mention this in this category um was Logan oh yeah uh didn't really like him in this season I took it early in the last half of the season he's just too chaotic he's up down all around town
- 1:05:30[SPEAKER_02]: the beginning a little bit as well too.
- 1:05:34[SPEAKER_02]: Can I tell you I listened to the end of our season six recap just to figure out what my season seven kind of predictions were and what was funny I will quote myself saying that like a lot of the reason I'm going to like this is Logan I'm I particularly quoted that he had a lot of really cute moment and a lot of really strong scenes and I'm not above
- 1:05:58[SPEAKER_02]: liking those and letting that lead my appreciation for season seven.
- 1:06:07[SPEAKER_02]: I left when I was listening to it.
- 1:06:08[SPEAKER_02]: I'm a walking pad this morning because I was like, Oh, not a chance.
- 1:06:13[SPEAKER_02]: He sank the season for me.
- 1:06:15[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:06:16[SPEAKER_02]: He was rude.
- 1:06:17[SPEAKER_02]: He was not a good boyfriend.
- 1:06:19[SPEAKER_02]: He there was so many things that he did that he put Roy in a weird position like the great stink.
- 1:06:24[SPEAKER_02]: She would have been completely fine if you would have been like, hey, you're coming to a business dinner.
- 1:06:28[SPEAKER_02]: All my teams there.
- 1:06:29[SPEAKER_02]: But it's not really nice.
- 1:06:31[SPEAKER_02]: Like, there's just so many things that he just was not a good partner.
- 1:06:34[SPEAKER_02]: Like, even when he was like, I have to tell that he was the reason that the Marty Conflict came out.
- 1:06:40[SPEAKER_02]: He was like, I can't sit here and lie.
- 1:06:41[SPEAKER_02]: I know what.
- 1:06:42[SPEAKER_02]: Lucy's a nice person.
- 1:06:43[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, I'm your girlfriend, though.
- 1:06:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you could have at least consulted me.
- 1:06:47[SPEAKER_01]: I got it.
- 1:06:47[SPEAKER_01]: I understood where he was coming from.
- 1:06:49[SPEAKER_02]: But at the same time, no, there's a team and you're on it.
- 1:06:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we can address this in some other way because you embarrass.
- 1:06:56[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:06:57[SPEAKER_02]: And then like the whole thing of like him running off with Colin and Finn when his business sank and I lost a lot of respect for him like when this
- 1:07:05[SPEAKER_02]: The whole idea that he was going off on his own and he was leaving his father's company, but when you really sit back and think about it, we went through the whole thing of like he's leaving other people to claim up his mess that he was in charge of.
- 1:07:20[SPEAKER_02]: And he sees that as this huge leap of faith that like worries really proud of him for.
- 1:07:23[SPEAKER_02]: And honestly, I just feel like
- 1:07:27[SPEAKER_02]: He like blew it like he's not taking responsibility or accountability for anything and then he proposes to her and something that we had talked about before we get to the proposal is like you were saying these things that he's doing now where he's kind of insulting me and like not coming to my best friend baby shower so he can go to Vegas and he's not telling me about it.
- 1:07:44[SPEAKER_02]: He's not telling anything that's going on in his life and kind of blaming me for not understanding.
- 1:07:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:07:48[SPEAKER_02]: He's showing up someplace where I did not want him to be to like a personal event that me and my mom and my grandma were coming to.
- 1:07:54[SPEAKER_02]: He had no right coming to.
- 1:07:56[SPEAKER_02]: I did not want him there and he showed up on his own accord.
- 1:07:59[SPEAKER_02]: And we were talking about this with an impact for his answer.
- 1:08:03[SPEAKER_02]: And it doesn't.
- 1:08:04[SPEAKER_02]: It's not one of the reasons.
- 1:08:05[SPEAKER_02]: But like for us, we're like, yeah, of course, like, we just went through this whole thing.
- 1:08:09[SPEAKER_02]: Why do you think that we don't need further healing from this?
- 1:08:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:08:13[SPEAKER_02]: The next step is marriage.
- 1:08:15[SPEAKER_02]: For you, it's all or nothing.
- 1:08:17[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, because you don't want to go backwards and you said, what's the point?
- 1:08:20[SPEAKER_02]: We're the point.
- 1:08:22[SPEAKER_02]: So when he says goodbye, where am I?
- 1:08:23[SPEAKER_02]: Good bye.
- 1:08:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:08:25[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, bye.
- 1:08:26[SPEAKER_01]: No, I'm with you.
- 1:08:27[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so with you.
- 1:08:28[SPEAKER_01]: He really let us down this season.
- 1:08:30[SPEAKER_02]: He really let me down.
- 1:08:31[SPEAKER_02]: I was, you were my man.
- 1:08:33[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:08:34[SPEAKER_01]: I was, I was rooting for you.
- 1:08:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:08:36[SPEAKER_01]: Here.
- 1:08:37[SPEAKER_01]: You're going Tyra Banks on all of them.
- 1:08:39[SPEAKER_02]: I know all of them.
- 1:08:40[SPEAKER_02]: I just like, if anyone was like so down, bad for this man, and to be fair, I still am.
- 1:08:47[SPEAKER_02]: I know you are.
- 1:08:48[SPEAKER_02]: I know you are.
- 1:08:49[SPEAKER_02]: And I do have to point out that something that we recognize, especially in the season, because we start rewatching season one very differently than we watch it for Gamari visited, is that we are watching this with such a magnifying glass coming through this, that it's such a different experience to just watch an episode versus take extensive notes while you're doing it.
- 1:09:09[SPEAKER_02]: Totally.
- 1:09:09[SPEAKER_02]: So I do wonder how I would feel about
- 1:09:13[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 1:09:13[SPEAKER_02]: Now that I've pointed out all of these like like fifteen year old me, stand it.
- 1:09:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:09:19[SPEAKER_02]: Thirty two year old me.
- 1:09:21[SPEAKER_02]: Can't stand it.
- 1:09:23[SPEAKER_01]: Can't stand it.
- 1:09:24[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:09:25[SPEAKER_02]: So that's my name.
- 1:09:27[SPEAKER_02]: Very unexpected Logan take away from season seven.
- 1:09:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:09:30[SPEAKER_02]: Who would have thought?
- 1:09:32[SPEAKER_02]: Not a still team Logan.
- 1:09:33[SPEAKER_02]: I'm still team Logan, but season seven Logan.
- 1:09:36[SPEAKER_02]: Don't know him.
- 1:09:36[SPEAKER_02]: Don't know him.
- 1:09:37[SPEAKER_01]: Don't want to.
- 1:09:38[SPEAKER_01]: Don't want to.
- 1:09:39[SPEAKER_01]: No, no.
- 1:09:39[SPEAKER_01]: He was really disappointing this season.
- 1:09:42[SPEAKER_01]: And again, kind of his own self-sabotorian in that way, we can really align Chris and Logan as we have in the past.
- 1:09:48[SPEAKER_01]: But it was it was a big let down and I
- 1:09:54[SPEAKER_01]: Don't remember what I said my predictions would be for season six because famously I couldn't find my notes from that.
- 1:09:59[SPEAKER_01]: I texted daily this morning and I was like the notes are just gone.
- 1:10:02[SPEAKER_01]: Can't find a minute.
- 1:10:03[SPEAKER_01]: I was like luckily luckily we were going to the whole episode and I didn't get a chance to listen to it, but I did
- 1:10:12[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't expect to really enjoy this season.
- 1:10:14[SPEAKER_01]: And I didn't.
- 1:10:14[SPEAKER_01]: So, no, that's what you said.
- 1:10:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:10:16[SPEAKER_01]: It kind of came true.
- 1:10:18[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 1:10:19[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't say, hey, I listened to it.
- 1:10:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I wasn't.
- 1:10:24[SPEAKER_02]: You weren't anticipating liking it.
- 1:10:26[SPEAKER_01]: No, and I didn't.
- 1:10:27[SPEAKER_02]: And you were interested in finding out what you did like.
- 1:10:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and there were some things.
- 1:10:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there were a few things I did.
- 1:10:33[SPEAKER_01]: I expected to feel the way you did about Logan.
- 1:10:37[SPEAKER_01]: I expected to enjoy him still and be like, oh man, I'm really on the same team until we got to the end.
- 1:10:42[SPEAKER_01]: And until we got to hate all means and he started to go off the rails, but turns out he was kind of off the rails a whole time.
- 1:10:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:10:48[SPEAKER_02]: Turns out there were no rails.
- 1:10:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:10:51[SPEAKER_01]: We of course didn't really love the custody battle.
- 1:10:53[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, like we said, it made things very bleak bleak.
- 1:10:57[SPEAKER_02]: There was drama filled humor.
- 1:10:59[SPEAKER_01]: No, it just completely tonally changed the show.
- 1:11:02[SPEAKER_01]: I completely agree.
- 1:11:04[SPEAKER_01]: We also towards the end.
- 1:11:06[SPEAKER_01]: We didn't really love Lane's pregnancy storyline.
- 1:11:09[SPEAKER_01]: We also weren't really huge fans of the fact that Zach was the one who gets this really amazing offer to go out on tour though we did like his character this season.
- 1:11:17[SPEAKER_02]: I like Zach in that moment.
- 1:11:20[SPEAKER_02]: But I didn't like that the writers gave it to Zach.
- 1:11:22[SPEAKER_02]: It should have been Lane who got the chance to rock.
- 1:11:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and that should be the name of our episodes.
- 1:11:29[SPEAKER_01]: It really, it really should have been her chance and we'll talk about that more in the what if.
- 1:11:34[SPEAKER_01]: But the other thing that I totally didn't love towards like the latter half of the season was that Paris's only personality trait was her in these boards.
- 1:11:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the white boards.
- 1:11:44[SPEAKER_01]: It was just the only thing they knew.
- 1:11:47[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't really know what to do with Paris, so her whole personality became about her, like, with these boards all over their apartment and wanting to do bucket list things, and it just felt weird.
- 1:11:57[SPEAKER_02]: It felt not Paris to do a bucket list, admittedly.
- 1:11:59[SPEAKER_02]: No, I apologize.
- 1:12:01[SPEAKER_01]: I know that I won like early Paris, early college Paris when she wanted to reinvent herself and stuff.
- 1:12:07[SPEAKER_01]: I could see that.
- 1:12:08[SPEAKER_01]: Definitely.
- 1:12:08[SPEAKER_01]: But not this, not this first.
- 1:12:10[SPEAKER_01]: But she never once reinvented herself.
- 1:12:12[SPEAKER_01]: Never.
- 1:12:12[SPEAKER_01]: She is who she is.
- 1:12:13[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, love her for it.
- 1:12:14[SPEAKER_02]: But I think it's because a lot of the friendship that we experience in some of these episodes is focused on Lucy and Olivia.
- 1:12:22[SPEAKER_02]: And I know they really wanted us to care about them.
- 1:12:25[SPEAKER_02]: They really wanted us to care about them.
- 1:12:27[SPEAKER_02]: I know.
- 1:12:28[SPEAKER_02]: Unfortunately, I did not.
- 1:12:30[SPEAKER_02]: Um, there were some moments where I thought I was cute that she had these friends.
- 1:12:33[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't really care.
- 1:12:34[SPEAKER_02]: Like fun.
- 1:12:36[SPEAKER_02]: But overall, I just like never really committed to caring about them.
- 1:12:41[SPEAKER_02]: And I would have liked Paris to kind of feel that role in whatever way Paris could have.
- 1:12:45[SPEAKER_02]: No, I would bring back people like Finn and Colin and Stephanie, who we love to, is only ever really on those couple of episodes.
- 1:12:51[SPEAKER_01]: I know I really liked her.
- 1:12:53[SPEAKER_01]: She was really nice.
- 1:12:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:12:55[SPEAKER_01]: So that's kind of what that encapsulates a lot of what we didn't love about just we could go into further detail.
- 1:13:02[SPEAKER_01]: And we kind of will as we continue to expand on seven, especially with our what if episode because we'll be correcting a lot of things.
- 1:13:09[SPEAKER_01]: It will really come out what we didn't like.
- 1:13:10[SPEAKER_01]: But I'd love to hear what.
- 1:13:12[SPEAKER_01]: Let's start.
- 1:13:12[SPEAKER_01]: Let's while we're in a low place.
- 1:13:15[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to rank some of these episodes.
- 1:13:17[SPEAKER_01]: And I would love to hear three least favorite episodes of the season more.
- 1:13:22[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, I actually had a really hard time with this because famously, after every episode on Patreon, we will give it a rating, but Lomistera, well-in, or Lulin, if you see Tara and my phone contacts.
- 1:13:36[SPEAKER_02]: Lulin, Lulin, she has all the ratings.
- 1:13:40[SPEAKER_02]: And so, I remember giving things really love ratings, but I like genuinely couldn't remember or decipher which ones were which.
- 1:13:48[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 1:13:49[SPEAKER_02]: But I have what I think are my lowest ones.
- 1:13:52[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 1:13:52[SPEAKER_02]: Um, and if they're different, you can.
- 1:13:54[SPEAKER_02]: I can't wait to tell them, you know.
- 1:13:56[SPEAKER_02]: Um, but I, and no particular order.
- 1:13:59[SPEAKER_02]: Um, these are what I think my lowest are.
- 1:14:01[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 1:14:02[SPEAKER_02]: That's what you get folks for making will be.
- 1:14:03[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 1:14:04[SPEAKER_02]: Billy didn't like that.
- 1:14:05[SPEAKER_02]: Gilmore goes only.
- 1:14:06[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 1:14:09[SPEAKER_02]: And to whom it may concern, um, really didn't like that.
- 1:14:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, all of those were ones that you rated very low.
- 1:14:16[SPEAKER_01]: And I couldn't believe you got that's what you get folks for making a puppy.
- 1:14:19[SPEAKER_01]: Because I gave it a five out of ten.
- 1:14:21[SPEAKER_01]: You gave it a three.
- 1:14:24[SPEAKER_01]: You really didn't like that.
- 1:14:28[SPEAKER_01]: To whom it may concern, we gave a two point five to three out of sight.
- 1:14:32[SPEAKER_02]: I knew we gave something lower than three.
- 1:14:35[SPEAKER_01]: We did, and that was to whom it may concern.
- 1:14:37[SPEAKER_01]: But the one that we ranked the lowest beyond that was unto the breach.
- 1:14:42[SPEAKER_01]: A three point five to four.
- 1:14:44[SPEAKER_01]: I can't believe I forgot about it.
- 1:14:45[SPEAKER_01]: I can't believe you did.
- 1:14:46[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I actually did mean to include that.
- 1:14:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:14:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:14:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:14:49[SPEAKER_01]: Go for roles only was a tough one.
- 1:14:50[SPEAKER_01]: We gave it a four out of ten to be totally honest with y'all.
- 1:14:52[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't read the ratings on purpose.
- 1:14:55[SPEAKER_01]: But we gave a lot of episodes like a four out of ten or a five.
- 1:14:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:14:59[SPEAKER_01]: We did do half points here because we just were kind of.
- 1:15:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:15:03[SPEAKER_02]: I remembered we had given one where I was like one, but I think it was to him at making certain that we give that to that two point five.
- 1:15:10[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, I did mean to include onto the breach.
- 1:15:12[SPEAKER_02]: But were those my, were there any that I bring to lower than those lower?
- 1:15:15[SPEAKER_01]: No, other low ones were fours out of tens and we unfortunately, there were a lot that were a four out of ten.
- 1:15:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:15:21[SPEAKER_01]: The one I really want to highlight here is Mary Fistikovs.
- 1:15:24[SPEAKER_01]: We gave it a four out of ten just because I wrote this was a really tough watch.
- 1:15:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so I just want to throw that one in there because the rest of mine are also the same as yours.
- 1:15:34[SPEAKER_01]: They were all pretty pretty mid or not mid bad bad.
- 1:15:39[SPEAKER_01]: Did you have any that weren't on my list?
- 1:15:41[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 1:15:42[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 1:15:43[UNKNOWN]: Cool.
- 1:15:44[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, I guess Gilmour rolls only.
- 1:15:45[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, I didn't highlight, but Mary Fisticoffs was the one that I was going to say.
- 1:15:49[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, hi, Susan, because you hate fake me yet.
- 1:15:51[SPEAKER_01]: I really don't like fake me.
- 1:15:52[SPEAKER_01]: I just hate that they were a playster.
- 1:15:53[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, why?
- 1:15:54[SPEAKER_01]: Get the little actress or don't bring the character back.
- 1:15:56[SPEAKER_01]: It will never stop you.
- 1:15:57[SPEAKER_01]: Bring your own shows and do that.
- 1:16:00[SPEAKER_02]: I will say that there were a couple of people on Patreon who said that they didn't know it was fake me up until we mentioned that it was fake.
- 1:16:07[SPEAKER_02]: How did you not know?
- 1:16:08[SPEAKER_02]: Well, it was in part because she's so much younger than
- 1:16:15[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, originally, yeah.
- 1:16:16[SPEAKER_02]: And you're like, oh, she got some work done.
- 1:16:19[SPEAKER_01]: Correct.
- 1:16:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's more over.
- 1:16:21[SPEAKER_01]: There's just been a lot of time and space between them.
- 1:16:23[SPEAKER_01]: So I guess, and also if you don't watch season seven too often, you may not remember, but yeah, that's not me.
- 1:16:29[SPEAKER_02]: And it's been so, there's so much space between two and seven.
- 1:16:32[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
- 1:16:32[SPEAKER_01]: Totally agree.
- 1:16:33[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 1:16:33[SPEAKER_02]: Lay your favorite episodes on me.
- 1:16:35[SPEAKER_02]: My, okay, can I actually tell you what I thought my favorite episodes would have been from season seven?
- 1:16:40[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:16:40[SPEAKER_02]: Please, because, like, famously, Malogue and Gerley, and this is what?
- 1:16:44[SPEAKER_02]: This was my Logan season.
- 1:16:45[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:16:46[SPEAKER_02]: Because there's no other boyfriends.
- 1:16:48[SPEAKER_02]: Go away.
- 1:16:49[SPEAKER_02]: That's just solely Logan, and he fucking blew it.
- 1:16:52[SPEAKER_02]: But I did think it was going to be the great stink, introducing Lorelei Planetarium, and I'd rather be in Philadelphia.
- 1:16:58[SPEAKER_01]: Hmm, okay.
- 1:17:00[SPEAKER_02]: None of those made my talk three.
- 1:17:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:17:03[SPEAKER_02]: It was Go Bulldogs.
- 1:17:04[SPEAKER_02]: Of course.
- 1:17:04[SPEAKER_02]: Same love her.
- 1:17:06[SPEAKER_02]: Bon voyage.
- 1:17:07[SPEAKER_01]: And also a great amount.
- 1:17:08[SPEAKER_02]: And will you be my lower, like, go more.
- 1:17:10[SPEAKER_01]: Those were the ones we ranked the highest.
- 1:17:11[SPEAKER_01]: They were our favorite episodes.
- 1:17:13[SPEAKER_01]: Such good episodes.
- 1:17:15[SPEAKER_01]: All of them got like around an eight or or so on the scale.
- 1:17:19[SPEAKER_01]: Go Bulldogs.
- 1:17:20[SPEAKER_01]: We gave an eight out of ten.
- 1:17:20[SPEAKER_01]: You gave it a seven and a half out of ten.
- 1:17:22[SPEAKER_01]: I think you were being very like
- 1:17:24[SPEAKER_01]: You know, strict and understood, I respected it a lot about your ratings, but um, loved that episode and then with will you be mine?
- 1:17:33[SPEAKER_01]: Cause I had that like all feel.
- 1:17:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we just loved it.
- 1:17:37[SPEAKER_01]: Will you be my Lord like you're more as a townies episode.
- 1:17:39[SPEAKER_01]: It gets back to the core of the show is about which is about
- 1:17:41[SPEAKER_01]: You know, the relationships in the town and the God I just loved the moment between Lane and Vory.
- 1:17:49[SPEAKER_01]: I thought that was really sweet.
- 1:17:51[SPEAKER_01]: I loved the town coming together to make sure she had a great baby shower.
- 1:17:55[SPEAKER_01]: It was just it was so good
- 1:17:58[SPEAKER_02]: It was sweet too, because I loved when they brought her a cake and they were singing to her.
- 1:18:02[SPEAKER_02]: Like it was a birthday party, but I was like, it's a birthday party because she's gonna have a basement.
- 1:18:07[SPEAKER_02]: And like the the men of hap were singing.
- 1:18:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and it was pop-up.
- 1:18:14[SPEAKER_02]: They were saying pop-ups.
- 1:18:15[SPEAKER_02]: I was going to buy you, I'm walking right.
- 1:18:17[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, which was really sweet.
- 1:18:18[SPEAKER_02]: I really liked that.
- 1:18:19[SPEAKER_01]: I thought so too.
- 1:18:20[SPEAKER_01]: And then we famously as last week we discussed loved bond voyage.
- 1:18:23[SPEAKER_01]: We thought it was a really solid season finale.
- 1:18:25[SPEAKER_01]: Again, this is all being great.
- 1:18:26[SPEAKER_01]: It's not a curve in some ways because of the season, so I'm going to put it all.
- 1:18:30[SPEAKER_01]: But I am bummed because I am Kaya Kermiwar or I'm a Kaya Kermiwar.
- 1:18:35[SPEAKER_01]: I almost refused to call it that.
- 1:18:37[SPEAKER_01]: because it just makes no sense.
- 1:18:38[SPEAKER_01]: I wish that I knew what the rating for that one was.
- 1:18:41[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so sad that I didn't put that in.
- 1:18:43[SPEAKER_01]: We can go back and listen and find out.
- 1:18:45[SPEAKER_01]: That's why.
- 1:18:46[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:18:47[SPEAKER_02]: Everything's recorded, luckily.
- 1:18:48[SPEAKER_01]: Luckily, we recorded.
- 1:18:49[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's what the conversation we have.
- 1:18:51[SPEAKER_01]: But those were my three as well.
- 1:18:52[SPEAKER_01]: I thought they were really good.
- 1:18:54[SPEAKER_01]: I came in here thinking that swundervous marvelous and I'd rather be in Philadelphia would at least be
- 1:19:02[SPEAKER_01]: in my top three and neither of them made it.
- 1:19:05[SPEAKER_01]: They were mid for me and like had those other three not been strong contenders they probably would have been up there but the other three were much better, much more polished and felt more like go more girls than any of those others.
- 1:19:20[SPEAKER_02]: Because I will say the reason that I picked those episodes, like great sting, or like planetarium, and rather being Philadelphia, is like the Logan moments.
- 1:19:30[SPEAKER_02]: And like when I zero in on the moments that I love, like Logan on the rooftop with the top of us, and then Logan surprising Rory and Logan yelling at Rory, which is
- 1:19:41[SPEAKER_02]: a little conflict that I really liked.
- 1:19:43[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:19:44[SPEAKER_02]: And then, but the recovery of that was way too quick.
- 1:19:47[SPEAKER_02]: I would have us, we famously said in the episode, would have gone to the hospital after a fight like that later, totally never recovering.
- 1:19:53[SPEAKER_02]: Totally.
- 1:19:53[SPEAKER_02]: Would have left the relationship, could never have recovered from that.
- 1:19:56[SPEAKER_02]: And then I'd rather be in Philadelphia.
- 1:19:58[SPEAKER_02]: He's very supportive.
- 1:19:58[SPEAKER_02]: He shows up on a helicopter.
- 1:20:00[SPEAKER_02]: This hug that he gives her is just so sweet.
- 1:20:03[SPEAKER_02]: Love those moments.
- 1:20:05[SPEAKER_02]: The episodes were kind of mid.
- 1:20:06[SPEAKER_02]: It's great.
- 1:20:07[SPEAKER_02]: But I think that the reason that we liked these so much is because like the vibes were just absent this season.
- 1:20:14[SPEAKER_02]: But go Bulldogs.
- 1:20:16[SPEAKER_02]: We had that fall feeling very energetic.
- 1:20:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:20:21[SPEAKER_02]: It just felt like we were in this like Yale world with Maurice parents and kind of this like alternate universe.
- 1:20:28[SPEAKER_02]: version of her life that like felt really fun.
- 1:20:30[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:20:31[SPEAKER_02]: And like the Gilmores were there, the Elder Gilmores, but then in Bon Voyage, and we became a Lord of the Gilmores, it was a celebration of the town.
- 1:20:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:20:40[SPEAKER_02]: A celebration of lean and celebration of worry, and I just really, we missed that a little bit.
- 1:20:44[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, totally.
- 1:20:45[SPEAKER_02]: And remember at some point saying that in reflection of, because as we head into our ranking, something that you asked me was like, you were like,
- 1:20:56[SPEAKER_02]: You like this season, and I was like, no, get me back to God's country.
- 1:21:02[SPEAKER_01]: Get me back to God's country.
- 1:21:03[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I wanted to save it.
- 1:21:05[SPEAKER_01]: I asked you about halfway through, because we were just ranked these episodes.
- 1:21:08[SPEAKER_01]: So, low on the totem pole, and I felt like you were being like, you were looking at them with a very critical eye.
- 1:21:13[SPEAKER_01]: And so I was like, just out of curiosity, because I can't wait for the end of the season to ask you.
- 1:21:17[SPEAKER_01]: Like, how do you feel about season seven?
- 1:21:19[SPEAKER_01]: So I really love you.
- 1:21:19[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I can't wait eight more weeks.
- 1:21:22[SPEAKER_01]: I can't.
- 1:21:23[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I was trying to look for my season six notes because I had the rankings there and that was very important to me to it always is.
- 1:21:31[SPEAKER_01]: I like to bring it back to what our rankings were at the end of or rather the beginning of the season were covering the end of the last season.
- 1:21:39[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, kind of do a temperature check, but what I did find were my notes on our season two recap from twenty twenty three.
- 1:21:44[SPEAKER_01]: And I want to read these rankings to you what they were from bottom to top.
- 1:21:49[SPEAKER_01]: And then I wrote with little stars next to it controversial.
- 1:21:54[SPEAKER_02]: Whenever you, um, whenever we do rankings like this, I do remember that someone directly message us telling us that they hated when we do rankings like this.
- 1:22:01[SPEAKER_02]: And I think about that every time now.
- 1:22:04[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I hope you enjoy it.
- 1:22:05[SPEAKER_02]: If you hate it, we're going to do it anyway.
- 1:22:07[SPEAKER_01]: I also just find that to be so interesting when people are like, hey, I just want to message you to read and tell you why I don't think what you do.
- 1:22:14[SPEAKER_01]: I needed this episode.
- 1:22:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:22:16[SPEAKER_01]: It's really interesting.
- 1:22:17[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 1:22:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:22:18[SPEAKER_01]: Storytelling rankings from bottom to top were seven a year in the life.
- 1:22:25[SPEAKER_01]: This was storytelling.
- 1:22:26[SPEAKER_01]: Storytelling.
- 1:22:27[SPEAKER_02]: Storytelling.
- 1:22:28[SPEAKER_02]: From bottom.
- 1:22:28[SPEAKER_02]: From bottom.
- 1:22:29[SPEAKER_02]: From bottom.
- 1:22:29[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 1:22:30[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 1:22:31[SPEAKER_02]: I was writing this down and I was like, no, I said seven first.
- 1:22:34[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 1:22:35[SPEAKER_01]: Seven a year in the life.
- 1:22:37[SPEAKER_01]: Three, four, one, six, two, five.
- 1:22:42[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 1:22:43[SPEAKER_01]: Your person too.
- 1:22:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 1:22:46[SPEAKER_01]: Your personal after doing the season two review.
- 1:22:50[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, was one year in the life, seven, two, three, four, six, five.
- 1:23:02[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, I think that's interesting because was it what season did we stop including once we hadn't watched?
- 1:23:10[SPEAKER_01]: I do not remember because it's some of the season four because we were like, I can't even.
- 1:23:15[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, maybe it was even season three because at some point we stopped including seasons that we had not watched.
- 1:23:20[SPEAKER_01]: I think that that was part of us because we had no idea what it was.
- 1:23:24[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, because mine from last season don't include the revival or season seven.
- 1:23:32[SPEAKER_02]: I will tell you that at the end of season six, the thing that we had that we were like struggling with was that like season three was episodically better.
- 1:23:43[SPEAKER_02]: Like they had like heavy hitters.
- 1:23:45[SPEAKER_02]: but maybe season six handled their arcs better.
- 1:23:48[SPEAKER_02]: So we like weaker episodes and that's what we kind of went back and forth on and we're kind of like we were both agreeing with each other about it and disagreeing with each other and disagreeing with ourselves.
- 1:23:58[SPEAKER_01]: It was hard.
- 1:23:59[SPEAKER_01]: It was hard.
- 1:24:00[SPEAKER_01]: It was hard for you.
- 1:24:01[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously the more seasons you throw into it.
- 1:24:07[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't, I didn't see much of a shift in mind with the exception of where season four fell.
- 1:24:16[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, season four went way above us.
- 1:24:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I actually, um, from my ranking's last season to now that not, no change.
- 1:24:28[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 1:24:29[SPEAKER_01]: So, um, what does that look like?
- 1:24:32[SPEAKER_01]: I know we just read them bottom to top, but maybe top to bottom is easier.
- 1:24:35[SPEAKER_01]: So,
- 1:24:36[SPEAKER_01]: on a personal level.
- 1:24:37[SPEAKER_01]: So where are you at?
- 1:24:38[SPEAKER_02]: On a personal level, I'm going to read them top to bottom.
- 1:24:44[SPEAKER_02]: And I do that because of the grand reveal.
- 1:24:49[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, there's no change to this from last season.
- 1:24:54[SPEAKER_02]: My top is still season five, season four, season six, season two, season three, season one, and then like a really big space.
- 1:25:04[SPEAKER_02]: Imagine the biggest outer space, big space, season seven.
- 1:25:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:25:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:25:12[SPEAKER_01]: It's really tough to, um, I'm actually surprised given us rewatching season one together and how much you're liking it.
- 1:25:20[SPEAKER_01]: That it's that.
- 1:25:20[SPEAKER_02]: Well, that was, that was, that's a season.
- 1:25:23[SPEAKER_02]: It's a thing.
- 1:25:24[SPEAKER_02]: That's the thing.
- 1:25:24[SPEAKER_02]: I.
- 1:25:27[SPEAKER_02]: Right now, Ter and I are in the middle season one and rewatch for our next phase of Patreon once we finished the recap because we just have to watch the revival and then go more revisited as we know it will be ending which is insane to think about.
- 1:25:40[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but we're in the middle season one and our next phase of
- 1:25:43[SPEAKER_02]: are rewatch and we are loving it because we're doing it very differently than we did revisited and we're having such a good time especially and being in the middle of the season seven but I went back and forth on my with myself on my walking pad this morning and I was like I can't include that because so much of what we went back and forth on in past seasons is being like oh that was so long ago I don't remember exactly I'd have to go back and rewatch it and now having gone back and rewatched part of
- 1:26:12[SPEAKER_02]: these lower ranked seasons.
- 1:26:15[SPEAKER_02]: It's so different to how we watch it now in revisited and gallery visited that I didn't want to include it.
- 1:26:24[SPEAKER_02]: I couldn't, I couldn't ring myself to do it.
- 1:26:26[SPEAKER_02]: So I left it where it was.
- 1:26:28[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 1:26:28[SPEAKER_02]: Based on how it went for a gallery visited.
- 1:26:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:26:32[SPEAKER_01]: And remind me, this is your personal or this is my story line.
- 1:26:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:26:36[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, interesting.
- 1:26:38[SPEAKER_01]: My personal goes from top to bottom.
- 1:26:44[SPEAKER_01]: Two, one, three, four, five, six, a year in the life seven.
- 1:26:49[SPEAKER_01]: I included it in the life because I have a feeling I'm going to rank it above season seven, but I don't think I'm going to rank it above anything.
- 1:26:54[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 1:26:55[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 1:26:56[SPEAKER_02]: I have no idea.
- 1:26:57[SPEAKER_02]: But I'm surprised that five of this is your personal.
- 1:27:00[SPEAKER_01]: This is my personal, just because I prefer the early seasons when it comes to storytelling five and two are still tied for me pretty much at the top with five maybe having a little bit of an edge over season two, even though it's my favorite.
- 1:27:12[SPEAKER_01]: So that would go five, two, four, one, three.
- 1:27:16[SPEAKER_01]: Wait, so that against, sorry, can we back up this one?
- 1:27:18[SPEAKER_01]: So that would go season five, then two, four, one, three, six, seven.
- 1:27:25[SPEAKER_01]: You're not okay.
- 1:27:26[SPEAKER_01]: I probably would be above seven, but remains to be seen.
- 1:27:29[SPEAKER_02]: But remains to be seen.
- 1:27:31[SPEAKER_02]: For my storytelling, it's the exact same as last season.
- 1:27:36[SPEAKER_02]: It's five, four, two,
- 1:27:40[SPEAKER_02]: three and six tied because they're follow different sort of structures.
- 1:27:45[SPEAKER_02]: One big space.
- 1:27:49[SPEAKER_02]: Like big space.
- 1:27:50[SPEAKER_02]: Seven.
- 1:27:51[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I put storytelling for season one above seasons three and six because despite the fact that it can be a little disjointed, I would maybe put one three and six all on the same plane because I feel like they lack like what one of them lacks the other one.
- 1:28:11[SPEAKER_02]: You're right.
- 1:28:11[SPEAKER_02]: So I actually think that I agree with that, where the like, where he has a very clear arc in one.
- 1:28:17[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:28:18[SPEAKER_01]: And like, very clear is for the place romantically.
- 1:28:23[SPEAKER_01]: On the whole though, lower lie is pretty consistent.
- 1:28:27[SPEAKER_01]: It's just her romantic like that takes a little bit of a roller coaster.
- 1:28:30[SPEAKER_02]: But that is really where she's at.
- 1:28:32[SPEAKER_02]: I would say.
- 1:28:32[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:28:33[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, but we're also learning about her and like she is also chaotic.
- 1:28:36[SPEAKER_02]: So maybe that's like reflective of who she is.
- 1:28:38[SPEAKER_02]: But like it's also a season one season ones are rarely clean, which is why it makes me so sad now that shows get canceled after season one because it's like
- 1:28:46[SPEAKER_02]: Studio.
- 1:28:47[SPEAKER_02]: She's in ones are famously all over the place.
- 1:28:49[SPEAKER_02]: She's in two where we find ourselves.
- 1:28:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:28:51[SPEAKER_01]: Hello.
- 1:28:52[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 1:28:52[SPEAKER_01]: I totally agree.
- 1:28:53[SPEAKER_02]: But, but yeah, so I actually agree with that.
- 1:28:56[SPEAKER_02]: I will put those all in the same plane because I think you did five to four.
- 1:28:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, besides yours.
- 1:29:01[SPEAKER_02]: I did five four two and then three six one are kind of all in the same.
- 1:29:05[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, sitting on the same platform together and then season seven is
- 1:29:09[SPEAKER_02]: way down six feet under which I know a lot of people like season seven and like I think that I would probably like it more if I wasn't taking a sense of notes on it but I think that and we'll find out during our rewatch when we do read it because we're watching it like Haley said very differently in preparation for Patreon this fall
- 1:29:29[SPEAKER_01]: and I'm very excited to share that with all of you as we get closer.
- 1:29:32[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:29:33[SPEAKER_01]: But moving on to the coffee count because we're going to move into some of our predictions for a year in the life.
- 1:29:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:29:39[SPEAKER_01]: We had coffee count predictions.
- 1:29:40[SPEAKER_01]: Of course, famously, we always count the cups of coffee.
- 1:29:42[SPEAKER_01]: And do you remember what your prediction was?
- 1:29:45[SPEAKER_01]: It's a fifty-five.
- 1:29:47[SPEAKER_01]: It was sixty.
- 1:29:49[SPEAKER_02]: Oh.
- 1:29:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:29:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yours was sixty.
- 1:29:51[SPEAKER_01]: Mine was forty-nine.
- 1:29:53[SPEAKER_01]: Oh.
- 1:29:54[SPEAKER_01]: Fifty cups of coffee.
- 1:29:55[SPEAKER_02]: Oh.
- 1:29:56[SPEAKER_02]: This price is right, rolls.
- 1:29:59[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I don't know.
- 1:30:00[SPEAKER_01]: We never defined that.
- 1:30:01[SPEAKER_01]: If those prices write rules, you would win.
- 1:30:03[SPEAKER_02]: I would win.
- 1:30:04[SPEAKER_02]: But I think I'm closest.
- 1:30:05[SPEAKER_02]: You are closest, but you are closest.
- 1:30:12[SPEAKER_01]: You are closest, but I am Michelle and I am on the prices rate.
- 1:30:15[SPEAKER_01]: The prices rise.
- 1:30:16[SPEAKER_02]: The prices rise.
- 1:30:17[SPEAKER_02]: The prices rise.
- 1:30:18[SPEAKER_02]: There's in pairs of I wear.
- 1:30:20[SPEAKER_01]: There's in pairs of I wear exactly.
- 1:30:22[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't know if we want to make predictions for your in the life on a coffee level.
- 1:30:27[SPEAKER_01]: because it's so hard to, uh, oh, it's going to be so different.
- 1:30:32[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be so kind of one to fully structured.
- 1:30:36[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and I don't quite know how to come to the table with that just yet.
- 1:30:39[SPEAKER_01]: So maybe we should, I would like to wait because I want to think on it.
- 1:30:43[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't think about it hard enough for this.
- 1:30:45[SPEAKER_01]: I just think it's going to be structured a lot differently.
- 1:30:48[SPEAKER_02]: I want to do it.
- 1:30:49[SPEAKER_02]: I think.
- 1:30:50[SPEAKER_02]: You say that we'll come back to it later, but I think that I want to do it for the whole revival, not like, oh yeah, episode.
- 1:30:56[SPEAKER_02]: No, I agree.
- 1:30:57[SPEAKER_02]: I want to think on it.
- 1:30:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, what it to be because it's going to be different, but it's going to be the same counting coffee, but
- 1:31:05[SPEAKER_02]: because I know that we get to immediately.
- 1:31:07[SPEAKER_02]: Of course, we're going to be at least two.
- 1:31:09[SPEAKER_01]: So we will have at least two.
- 1:31:11[SPEAKER_01]: No, I totally agree.
- 1:31:13[SPEAKER_02]: And when it comes to, I wouldn't win.
- 1:31:15[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah.
- 1:31:16[SPEAKER_01]: I, you know, moving into our year in life predictions, I'm going to keep it kind of short and sweet.
- 1:31:22[SPEAKER_01]: I know that I will cry within the first minute of watching it because it always just the thought of the people parting and Lauren Graham sitting there on the steps just makes me want to sob.
- 1:31:34[SPEAKER_01]: And when she hugs worrying says, I missed you kid.
- 1:31:37[SPEAKER_01]: I cry every time.
- 1:31:38[SPEAKER_01]: So I think I will be very emotionally invested in winter and in fall.
- 1:31:42[SPEAKER_01]: I have a feeling that spring and summer are going to be two episodes that I'm like, I discover new things about, but that I'm not emotionally invested in.
- 1:31:51[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think that's what I'm most excited about is to watch it.
- 1:31:53[SPEAKER_02]: In the way that we watch, you can more revisit it, but like very fine tooth comb, very big magnifying glass, everything under a microscope, just to kind of see that because I've never watched it like that totally.
- 1:32:05[SPEAKER_02]: But talking about singing for too long, I do think we will, yeah, bad things about the musical.
- 1:32:11[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know how we're gonna feel about the musical.
- 1:32:13[SPEAKER_01]: I do think that we will like, I say that collectively, I do predict we will like a year in the life more than we like season seven.
- 1:32:20[SPEAKER_02]: I think so too.
- 1:32:21[SPEAKER_01]: But I don't think we'll like it anymore or rank it any higher than the original series.
- 1:32:28[SPEAKER_01]: No, I don't think it is.
- 1:32:29[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think so, but maybe not.
- 1:32:32[SPEAKER_02]: Well, we'll have to see, won't we?
- 1:32:34[SPEAKER_02]: But I agree.
- 1:32:35[SPEAKER_02]: I think that we'll like winter.
- 1:32:36[SPEAKER_02]: I think we'll like fall.
- 1:32:37[SPEAKER_02]: I think there's going to be a lot of moments in fall that make me cry.
- 1:32:39[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, one hundred percent.
- 1:32:41[SPEAKER_01]: That's why what I mean, I'm going to be much more emotionally invested in winter and fall.
- 1:32:45[SPEAKER_01]: But I think spring and summer, I'm going to be a little bit more like, okay, what is this?
- 1:32:48[SPEAKER_01]: What do we do?
- 1:32:50[SPEAKER_02]: And I completely predict that for the both of us, our favorite storyline will be Emily's.
- 1:32:55[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:32:56[SPEAKER_01]: I can see that.
- 1:32:56[SPEAKER_02]: Our girl.
- 1:32:57[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be a lot of fun.
- 1:32:58[SPEAKER_01]: I'm excited to dive in.
- 1:33:01[SPEAKER_01]: to be a lot of fun.
- 1:33:04[SPEAKER_01]: So that's our season seven recap.
- 1:33:06[SPEAKER_01]: I know it was rather lengthy because we had a lot to say because we have a lot that we didn't particularly love about it.
- 1:33:12[SPEAKER_01]: You know, the whole season unfortunately felt like a caricature of itself, specifically with the town.
- 1:33:17[SPEAKER_01]: We felt like a lot of the characters were written to
- 1:33:20[SPEAKER_01]: be caricatures of themselves and to recycle plot lines, to unfortunately like rely heavily on what was already built in the foundation of Gilmore Girls to carry us through as far as caring about certain relationships or in characters.
- 1:33:33[SPEAKER_01]: There were some good moments, but on the whole not necessarily good lines.
- 1:33:38[SPEAKER_02]: They were so good that they stood out because they were so few good lines.
- 1:33:45[SPEAKER_01]: Tell us what your favorite line was in the entire season seven.
- 1:33:49[SPEAKER_01]: I would like to end on that high note.
- 1:33:51[SPEAKER_02]: This was after we learned about the Fisectomy and
- 1:33:57[SPEAKER_02]: Suki and Lorelai are walking through town.
- 1:33:58[SPEAKER_02]: Suki is talking about treating a Jackson-like a child.
- 1:34:02[SPEAKER_02]: What does he want me to cut his meat for him?
- 1:34:04[SPEAKER_02]: And then Lorelai's response to that is, I don't think he wants his meat cut at all.
- 1:34:11[SPEAKER_01]: It's me every time because I had never ever heard it when you said it.
- 1:34:15[SPEAKER_02]: It's such an aside.
- 1:34:16[SPEAKER_02]: She goes, I don't think he wants his meat cut at all.
- 1:34:18[SPEAKER_02]: Suki just keeps on her monologue.
- 1:34:21[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think he wants his meat cut at all.
- 1:34:24[SPEAKER_02]: really good line.
- 1:34:25[SPEAKER_01]: And that's the thing is, you know, again, to end this on a high note and give them their kudos, I think that the writers had a huge undertaking that they had to carry this very, very, very heavy torch forward.
- 1:34:35[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, I think that they tried, I think with some episodes, they, you know, did do a fine job at capturing the essence of the town and of the girl's relationship, but on the whole, it's just a testament to the fact that you cannot replicate any Sherman Palinino's magic.
- 1:34:51[SPEAKER_02]: Can try.
- 1:34:51[SPEAKER_02]: You can try.
- 1:34:53[SPEAKER_02]: Can you replicate her own magic in the revival?
- 1:34:56[SPEAKER_01]: We'll have more to say on that in a couple weeks.
- 1:34:59[SPEAKER_01]: But next episode is going to be a go more to consider.
- 1:35:03[SPEAKER_01]: Call us with your thoughts.
- 1:35:04[SPEAKER_01]: We're really excited to hear.
- 1:35:05[SPEAKER_01]: And then the following will be a what if.
- 1:35:07[SPEAKER_01]: So if you guys have what ifs that you want to call in with, please do.
- 1:35:10[SPEAKER_01]: But we'll definitely put a question box up on our Instagram story to have you guys write in because those what ifs are a lot easier when you write in.
- 1:35:17[SPEAKER_01]: But first we're going to hear from you on your thoughts on season seven and we'll have more to say on that in the next episode.
