- 0:01Speaker 1: A Smalls Show, The Smallsy Show.
- 0:03Speaker 2: The next guest set to join us here on The
- 0:05Speaker 2: Smallsy Show. He's a number one best selling author, the
- 0:09Speaker 2: host of the world's number one mental health podcast, half
- 0:12Speaker 2: a billion YouTube views, and he's just announced in Australian tour.
- 0:16Speaker 2: He is the Life and Love Guru. It is mister
- 0:20Speaker 2: j Sheddy.
- 0:21Speaker 3: Please welcome j Sheddy.
- 0:24Speaker 1: I'm Jay Sheddy, purpose coach, author and podcast Thank you
- 0:27Speaker 1: for giving me this honor. I'm truly grateful and humble
- 0:30Speaker 1: to be here. Hey, how are you?
- 0:32Speaker 3: Lovely to meet you, Jay Sheddy. Thank you for being
- 0:34Speaker 3: on my show.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Oh, I'm grateful to be here. Such a pleasure to
- 0:37Speaker 1: be you.
- 0:38Speaker 2: I'm going to start with just telling you can fix me?
- 0:41Speaker 2: Can you just make me better? Make me better?
- 0:44Speaker 1: I wish I had those powers. I don't, so apologies
- 0:47Speaker 1: and advance.
- 0:48Speaker 2: No, you're hey, we're excited you're coming back to Australia.
- 0:51Speaker 3: I saw you last time you were.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Here, oh nowhere?
- 0:55Speaker 2: Yeah yeah yeah at the Opera House. Incredible show. Congratulations
- 0:59Speaker 2: on every thing. I mean, I guess people who don't
- 1:03Speaker 2: know you self help guru, podcaster, author, What can't you do?
- 1:09Speaker 3: Are you terrible? In the kitchen.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Terrible in the kitchen. I can't cook to save my life.
- 1:13Speaker 1: So that's something I definitely can't do. And I'm not
- 1:17Speaker 1: that good at tennis.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Okay, well, I'm not bad at pickleball. We could have
- 1:21Speaker 2: a game of pickle.
- 1:22Speaker 1: I'm good at pickleball. I'd love that now.
- 1:25Speaker 2: I did joke by saying at the start here fixed me.
- 1:28Speaker 2: But you do have the world's number one mental health podcast,
- 1:31Speaker 2: and I feel like in the last decade or so,
- 1:34Speaker 2: people are so so much more aware of their mental health.
- 1:39Speaker 3: I'm going to go straight for the big question. What
- 1:41Speaker 3: do you reckon?
- 1:42Speaker 2: Is the number one takeaway most people could use right now,
- 1:47Speaker 2: because I feel like, across everybody, we all have genuinely
- 1:51Speaker 2: similar the same problems, they.
- 1:53Speaker 3: Just show up differently for each of us.
- 1:54Speaker 2: What do you reckon is the number one takeaway people
- 1:56Speaker 2: listening right now might go that works for me.
- 1:59Speaker 1: The number one takeaway i'd say is take action. Stop thinking.
- 2:05Speaker 1: I think so many of us are overthinking, over analyzing,
- 2:08Speaker 1: over evaluating. Take action. Do it do it badly, do
- 2:12Speaker 1: it scared, do it with fear, do it with insecurity,
- 2:16Speaker 1: do it with anxiety. The feeling that we have I'm
- 2:19Speaker 1: gonna wait till I don't feel nervous. I'm gonna wait
- 2:22Speaker 1: till I don't feel anxious. I'm gonna wait till I
- 2:24Speaker 1: don't feel this. You'll be waiting for the rest of
- 2:27Speaker 1: your life. So take action with your nerves, anxiety, fears,
- 2:32Speaker 1: whatever it may be.
- 2:33Speaker 3: That's great. I love that I can.
- 2:34Speaker 2: I add a little bit because I feel like a
- 2:36Speaker 2: little bit of a self help guru. Don't wait until
- 2:39Speaker 2: you're ready, because you're actually never ready, and if you
- 2:41Speaker 2: wait until you're ready, you'll be waiting forever. Actually doing
- 2:44Speaker 2: whatever it is you want to do takes you on
- 2:47Speaker 2: the path to being red d So to speak, for
- 2:49Speaker 2: whatever it is you.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Do absolutely and you'll figure it out. I think people
- 2:53Speaker 1: feel that the most successful people in the world, the
- 2:56Speaker 1: people that the happiest, had a perfect plan. Didn't They
- 3:00Speaker 1: had a plan, and the plan was pivoted and perfected
- 3:04Speaker 1: and practiced and constantly malleable throughout the whole journey. So
- 3:09Speaker 1: if you have this picture that the people who are
- 3:11Speaker 1: where you want to be had a plan, they had
- 3:13Speaker 1: a plan, not a perfect plan, And to stop waiting
- 3:16Speaker 1: for a perfect plan, have a plan, make some progress,
- 3:19Speaker 1: and then pivot and change and shift. Don't wait for
- 3:22Speaker 1: the perfect plan.
- 3:23Speaker 2: You've interviewed an incredible list of celebrities, one that rivals mine.
- 3:28Speaker 2: May I just say your conversations are far deeper than
- 3:32Speaker 2: what I do. It's might generally revolve around, Hey, what
- 3:35Speaker 2: are you promoting this week? Tell me who caught you
- 3:39Speaker 2: by surprise? Because I think you know when you sit down,
- 3:41Speaker 2: you have opposite Oprah and you've done Obama. And I'm
- 3:44Speaker 2: sure you walk away from those conversations with your like, okay, yep, Oprah?
- 3:49Speaker 3: Who was who I expected her to be?
- 3:51Speaker 2: But is there a celebrity like I don't know, like
- 3:53Speaker 2: Lewis Hamilton, the f one driver that surprised you more
- 3:57Speaker 2: than you expected.
- 3:58Speaker 1: I mean, Lewis Hamilton has become a dear friend. He
- 4:01Speaker 1: is one of the most humble, sweet, kind, unassuming people
- 4:06Speaker 1: in the world. I mean when you think what he
- 4:08Speaker 1: does for a living, which is drive cars are insane
- 4:11Speaker 1: speeds that you know most of us wouldn't even try
- 4:14Speaker 1: and do. And then outside of the car, he is
- 4:17Speaker 1: truly one of the most humble, grounded, down to earth
- 4:19Speaker 1: people you'll ever meet. Is such a sweet soul, and
- 4:22Speaker 1: I think that's unassuming. You think that naturally, when you've
- 4:25Speaker 1: been to Natalie at his level, you have a killer instinct,
- 4:28Speaker 1: but he has this ability to just transfer it over
- 4:31Speaker 1: to his human self and it's been amazing getting to
- 4:35Speaker 1: know him. He's awesome.
- 4:36Speaker 3: Dear.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Well, now the show that you're bringing to Australia, you'll
- 4:40Speaker 2: be here in November.
- 4:41Speaker 3: This changes everything.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Last time I saw you, there was a like I
- 4:44Speaker 2: would I would call it like a thread of love.
- 4:46Speaker 2: There was an over people who were there were trying
- 4:50Speaker 2: to find a relationship or four and I think the
- 4:52Speaker 2: walk the takeaway was was you've got to love yourself
- 4:55Speaker 2: first before you can get anyone else to love you.
- 4:57Speaker 2: What do you want to teach people when you here
- 5:00Speaker 2: this time?
- 5:01Speaker 1: Yeah, so this time we're taking it to another level.
- 5:03Speaker 1: This changes everything. Is focused on the four big decisions
- 5:07Speaker 1: of life. So whether you're in a job and you
- 5:09Speaker 1: want to find another one, whether you're in a relationship
- 5:12Speaker 1: and you want to leave, whether you want to find love,
- 5:14Speaker 1: whether you're in a position in your life you just
- 5:16Speaker 1: feel stuff and you're looking for the next move. We're
- 5:18Speaker 1: going to focus on the four biggest decisions in life.
- 5:21Speaker 1: The first is how do I feel about myself? The
- 5:24Speaker 1: second is what do I do for work? The third
- 5:27Speaker 1: is who do I love? And the fourth is how
- 5:29Speaker 1: do I serve the world. We're going to take a
- 5:31Speaker 1: three sixty degree approach to life, and I'm going to
- 5:34Speaker 1: help you through a series of practical tools and application
- 5:37Speaker 1: to actually build your decision making powers so you can
- 5:40Speaker 1: take action on those four areas of your life. It's
- 5:42Speaker 1: going to be super practical, super easy to put into practice,
- 5:46Speaker 1: and I want you to walk away having a new
- 5:49Speaker 1: direction in your life and being able to make big decisions.
- 5:52Speaker 3: Well, where do I sign up? Tell me where do I?
- 5:54Speaker 3: How do I? I'm already I'm on board. I can't wait.
- 5:56Speaker 1: I think you'll know better than that. You'll know better
- 5:58Speaker 1: than me were to sign up.
- 6:00Speaker 3: No, I think it's the website.
- 6:02Speaker 2: I think it's the website of ticketech, dot com dot
- 6:04Speaker 2: au Hey, as I said to you, like you know,
- 6:08Speaker 2: this is me being a little bit vulnerable right now.
- 6:09Speaker 2: But you know I've done a lot of work on
- 6:11Speaker 2: myself over the years. I think I don't think and
- 6:14Speaker 2: you probably can relate to this. You can't not be
- 6:17Speaker 2: in the public eye, having people comment on your posts
- 6:21Speaker 2: or having opinions about you when they don't truly know
- 6:25Speaker 2: who you are. You have to to have any type
- 6:28Speaker 2: of longevity. But I think this actually works probably in
- 6:31Speaker 2: everybody's life. To have any longevity in anything, you're gonna
- 6:35Speaker 2: have to deal with people having opinions about you that
- 6:37Speaker 2: they don't really know you.
- 6:39Speaker 3: And I wanted to.
- 6:39Speaker 2: This was my biggest learning that, you know, unhooked things
- 6:43Speaker 2: for me and made my life better. It was you
- 6:46Speaker 2: don't choose what happens to you in life. You only
- 6:49Speaker 2: get to choose how you react. And I was like,
- 6:53Speaker 2: can you talk to me about that? Because I found
- 6:56Speaker 2: that so powerful. And once you realize that a whole
- 6:59Speaker 2: bunch of things can happen to you unfairly or fairly
- 7:03Speaker 2: in life, they're really irrelevant. When you understand that, it's
- 7:06Speaker 2: how you react to those situations that define your character.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Well, well, let's the way I like to look at
- 7:13Speaker 1: this is I like to look at things you can
- 7:15Speaker 1: control and things you can't control. To your point, if
- 7:19Speaker 1: you walk outside, let's say you plan this weekend. I mean,
- 7:21Speaker 1: Australia has amazing weather, but let's say you plann this
- 7:24Speaker 1: weekend that you want to do something fun outdoors, and
- 7:27Speaker 1: you wake up on a Saturday morning and for whatever reason,
- 7:30Speaker 1: it's raining, it's muggy, it's just not the best weather
- 7:33Speaker 1: in the world. You have two choices. You can go
- 7:36Speaker 1: out in the rain. You can pack an umbrella, you
- 7:39Speaker 1: can take your you know, your rain boots so that
- 7:41Speaker 1: you're safe. You can take a raincoat. What you decide
- 7:44Speaker 1: to do when it's raining is all that's in your power.
- 7:47Speaker 1: You can sit inside and be upset that it's raining
- 7:50Speaker 1: and have a terrible day indoors. You can stay inside
- 7:53Speaker 1: and have the best indoor day you've probably ever had.
- 7:55Speaker 1: The point is there's still a choice, and sometimes what
- 7:58Speaker 1: we do is we allow the outside world to decide
- 8:02Speaker 1: how we feel inside. It's like saying if it's gray outside,
- 8:05Speaker 1: I'm going to be gray inside, but that if we
- 8:07Speaker 1: lived that way, you're constantly going to be defined by
- 8:10Speaker 1: what happens around you. So what you want to say is,
- 8:12Speaker 1: if it's gray outside, I'll either go out and have
- 8:14Speaker 1: a great day. I actually remember I was in I
- 8:17Speaker 1: was in Byron Bay last November. I came out to
- 8:21Speaker 1: interview Chris Hemsworth and I woke up in Byron Bay
- 8:24Speaker 1: and it was really dark, it was really gloomy, it
- 8:28Speaker 1: was really humid, and I still went and did a
- 8:30Speaker 1: beautiful hike by myself near the lighthouse and it was spectacular.
- 8:34Speaker 1: It was absolutely beautiful, and everyone kept telling me, oh,
- 8:36Speaker 1: you should see it on a sunny day, and I
- 8:38Speaker 1: was like, I believe you. But I had a beautiful
- 8:40Speaker 1: time because it's just such a special place. And so
- 8:43Speaker 1: I think the point is your energy and your mindset
- 8:46Speaker 1: can change. And there's a beautiful statement by Wayne Dyer
- 8:49Speaker 1: that I'll end on. Wayne Dyer once said, when you
- 8:52Speaker 1: change the way you look at things, the things you
- 8:55Speaker 1: look at change. And I think that's what we want
- 8:57Speaker 1: to figure out. That's what I'm going to help us
- 8:59Speaker 1: do on this tour. Has helped you change the way
- 9:02Speaker 1: you look at things so that the things you look
- 9:05Speaker 1: at change.
- 9:06Speaker 2: That's why you have a chat topping podcast. So because
- 9:08Speaker 2: you just said it better than I could, you said
- 9:09Speaker 2: it better, You said it way better than I could.
- 9:12Speaker 2: You're going to be here in November. Last two questions
- 9:16Speaker 2: for you. Obviously I touched on a bunch of celebrities
- 9:19Speaker 2: you've done interviewed for your podcast who reached out to you.
- 9:24Speaker 3: As a fan.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Is there someone that you were like, Oh my god,
- 9:26Speaker 2: they've slid into my DMS. I didn't realize they were
- 9:29Speaker 2: even you know, mindful or self aware enough to even
- 9:34Speaker 2: be consuming my content.
- 9:35Speaker 3: Is there?
- 9:35Speaker 1: Oh no, No, I think everyone who's come on my
- 9:38Speaker 1: show is extremely self aware and kind and doing some
- 9:42Speaker 1: amazing work in their life. And the ones that stand
- 9:45Speaker 1: out to me was we talked about this last year.
- 9:47Speaker 1: Emma Watson had DMed me and said that she wanted
- 9:50Speaker 1: to come on the show a week later, and we
- 9:52Speaker 1: made it happen and that found out to not only
- 9:54Speaker 1: be one of my favorite, but biggest and best interviews
- 9:56Speaker 1: of last year. And yeah, that came from a really
- 9:59Speaker 1: genuine place. That was awesome. Also includes Novak Djokovic, who
- 10:03Speaker 1: have had on the show twice, who's a dear friend.
- 10:06Speaker 1: He also DM me originally and i'dly end him and
- 10:08Speaker 1: that's how we got together. And so I'd say a
- 10:11Speaker 1: lot of our episodes actually end up being bumping into
- 10:13Speaker 1: each other at events or dms or connected through someone
- 10:18Speaker 1: who's a mutual friend. So really really grateful to have that.
- 10:21Speaker 2: And then last question for you, Obviously, people who've listened
- 10:24Speaker 2: to you and you know are practicing mindfulness and trying
- 10:27Speaker 2: to be the best version they can of themselves. Progress
- 10:31Speaker 2: not perfection, right, because there'll be some people here that
- 10:34Speaker 2: are listening or watching going, oh damn, I screwed today up.
- 10:38Speaker 3: It's not about.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Individual days, right, You're not going to be get it
- 10:41Speaker 2: right every single time.
- 10:43Speaker 1: I think you have to look at it through this perspective.
- 10:46Speaker 1: We think consistency is doing the same thing every day,
- 10:51Speaker 1: but that's not real. None of us can do the
- 10:54Speaker 1: same exact thing every day. Like for example, if you
- 10:56Speaker 1: say I want to go to the gym five days
- 10:59Speaker 1: a week for the rest of the month, chances are
- 11:02Speaker 1: you'll go four days one week, five days another week,
- 11:06Speaker 1: three days another week, and six days another week. And
- 11:09Speaker 1: that's consistency. Consistency is what did you do on average.
- 11:12Speaker 1: But if you say I'm going to go five days
- 11:14Speaker 1: a week every week, you're going to set yourself up
- 11:16Speaker 1: for failure because the week you only go three times,
- 11:19Speaker 1: you're going to think, oh, I failed, forget about it,
- 11:21Speaker 1: let's throw it all away. So consistency is not doing
- 11:24Speaker 1: the same thing every day. It's on average, doing the
- 11:26Speaker 1: same thing over a month, and that consistency helps you
- 11:29Speaker 1: sustain it.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Oh and on that note, I mean, I mean, look,
- 11:34Speaker 2: just give it away for free. Why don't you Jay,
- 11:36Speaker 2: give it away for free. Oh we can't wait to
- 11:39Speaker 2: have you here in Australia.
- 11:40Speaker 1: Thank you. I can't wait to be back. Honestly, when
- 11:43Speaker 1: I was on my world tour last three years ago,
- 11:45Speaker 1: Australia was my favorite stop and I can't wait. I
- 11:48Speaker 1: can't wait to see everyone again. Thank you for all
- 11:50Speaker 1: the love everyone brings, the banter, the energy. I had
- 11:53Speaker 1: the best time and I can't wait, lovely.
- 11:55Speaker 3: Thank you so much. Jay, Really appreciate you time.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Mate, appreciate you. Thank you. Mate. Try and get a
- 12:00Speaker 1: pickle game and that would be amazing.
- 12:02Speaker 3: I would love to play people with you.
- 12:03Speaker 2: I'm slightly competitive, just so you know me too, Like
- 12:07Speaker 2: I'm look at it just because you're famous.
- 12:08Speaker 3: I'm not going to go easy on you. All right,
- 12:11Speaker 3: let's do it.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Let's do it. Be a lot of fun. Thank you.
- 12:15Speaker 3: Don't miss a moment of the Smallsy Show.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Download the free iHeart app now sounds better on iHeart.
- 12:22Speaker 1: The Chemist Swear House Mayhem sale is on now.

- 12:28Speaker 2: vitamins at Chemist Swear House Shop in store or online
- 12:31Speaker 2: today
