- 2:00I just keep on coming. But anyways, yes.
- 2:03Thanks for tuning in. Got a fun episode lined up for
- 2:05us today. Another listener supporter
- 2:08request going to be doing the next few episodes with some
- 2:12suggestions that you find folks have given me through a recent
- 2:17Facebook post. I believe they got shared on
- 2:20Instagram. I don't know.
- 2:21I'm having some questionable questionable things happening
- 2:27with my Instagram. That's linked to the midgard
- 2:29musings Facebook page. I can't I don't have like the
- 2:31app. I don't down.
- 2:33The app or whatever. So, all the stuff that I see is
- 2:35done through the Facebook or metaverse or whatever they call
- 2:39it now. Analytics, you know, and they're
- 2:44constantly changing things. So hopefully it's all still
- 2:47going to Instagram but figure that part out later, but yeah,
- 2:50I'm getting some or have gotten some really good suggestions on
- 2:54topics of discussions for these ramblings.
- 2:57So the next I don't know couple of episodes or so at least are
- 3:02going to contain your requests and I openly welcomed them at
- 3:07any point in time, you know, so as we mentioned in the intro if
- 3:11you want to Me a topic for discussion.
- 3:15You can write in to midgard. Musings Tian at gmail.com.
- 3:19You can, you know, at me on Twitter.
- 3:22You can DM me on Facebook. I don't get the DMS on
- 3:25Instagram. So, that's out of the question.
- 3:28You can also comment in the description area of this YouTube
- 3:31video. If you're watching the podcast
- 3:33on YouTube or call into the midgard musings, hotline 61 5 6,
- 3:397 1983 to So, before we get into the topic of discussion, we are
- 3:46going to course, light incense, and I got a different drink.
- 3:49I'm going to pour for us today for myself today.
- 3:51You guys aren't having any because obviously, I'm here by
- 3:54myself, but you're going to see me drink a different drink
- 3:58today, but today's incense sticks that I selected on this
- 4:05beautiful incense and candle light tea, candle holder, and
- 4:10incense burner. We've got a Balsam stick and a
- 4:16ginseng and green tea I believe. So, we'll see how those two pair
- 4:22with each other. We'll see how that goes.
- 4:30That one's lit. Yeah, that one's lit.
- 4:32Now. Let's give this one a go.
- 4:36Okay. Yeah, out of work, beautiful.
- 4:47Bea utiful and aromatic. That Balsam and the ginseng and
- 4:54green tea. Combos are quite lovely.
- 5:00So we got that out the way. Now this next thing my drink and
- 5:08yeah, you guys can give me crap. They'll all you want.
- 5:10This is a like a beer stein. I'm not drinking beer.
- 5:14Obviously if I was that be some pretty thick and red beer, but
- 5:20this is not What you think it is?
- 5:22This is definitely not blood, although it is the makings of a
- 5:27bloody mary. I have not added the Vodka yet.
- 5:32This is a pretty spicy one. I forget the brand.
- 5:38I've had this one before I picked it up a while ago, and
- 5:41it's quite quite quite Tangy through a little bit of lime
- 5:45juice in there, but this is the You know, the piece de
- 5:49resistance as they say in places that say such things, the Vodka.
- 5:56So this is, this is comical as it's a novelty item obviously.
- 6:01But this is Russian vodka. Vodka, 18 product of Russia.
- 6:09It's all it says, but it's obviously shaped in the style of
- 6:15an AK-47 assault rifle. It's almost all gone.
- 6:21This was a gift from my friend who is originally from Belarus.
- 6:29And he lives here in the States. Now, he lives in Nashville,
- 6:32actually, and he's been my good friend for probably close to
- 6:37Years. I've not made a bloody Mary with
- 6:39this yet they say, I guess you can get these things readily
- 6:44available in the state's. I'm not, I'm not a vodka drink
- 6:47or so, I don't, I can't say, for sure that I've seen one of
- 6:50these, but apparently, they're not too uncommon, but I just, I
- 6:53thought the thing was was really Nifty.
- 6:55Of course, I'm going to save it. And I've drank most of it
- 6:57already just do like, pickleback shots, or is in in Russia.
- 7:03What Gotta Eat, Edward C is the boss.
- 7:07Fucking pickles. It's a tradition.
- 7:09I think specifically during like the New Year celebration.
- 7:13So like during New Year's instead of champagne, they're
- 7:14drinking vodka and pickles, but it's a really good combination.
- 7:17So it's not like your typical whiskey pickleback, or you take
- 7:20a shot of whiskey and then a shot of pickle juice or pickle
- 7:23brine. It's dill pickle.
- 7:25Of course, it's not that bread and butter sugary stuff, but
- 7:29this is again why most of it's gone.
- 7:31So we're just going to go ahead and you know, add a An amount.
- 7:40We don't measure things around here.
- 7:42We just pour until our ancestors tell us.
- 7:47To stop and it's probably about good, probably about equal
- 7:50parts, mixer and booze. This is not the traditional way
- 7:55to fix a bloody mary. Of course, I know that this is
- 7:59go ahead and give that a little spin.
- 8:04I might actually I'm not gonna believe myself for saying this,
- 8:09but that might even be a little bit too much vodka.
- 8:14Not really. So, anyway, there it is.
- 8:17Now a lot different looking than it was before but still pretty,
- 8:22still pretty bloody looking. So.
- 8:25Hmm. Yeah, that was probably for most
- 8:29people anyway, that's like, that's way too much.
- 8:33That's way too much vodka. The Vodka really comes through
- 8:35on this, but I like my drinks strong.
- 8:38And I want to taste, you know, more than just the mixer on
- 8:42things. Otherwise, it's not even it's
- 8:44pointless. I guess it is.
- 8:45You know, I'm not going to taste the booze and why is even the
- 8:49booze in there? So it's a ridiculous thing.
- 8:53There's no, I said it and shake it.
- 8:54I didn't, you know, add the rim glass, you know, seasoning
- 8:59around the glass, the celery, the The horseradish, the this
- 9:03and that it's just a real quick thing because it's all I've got
- 9:06in the house right now. I've got to go out and restock
- 9:09my Scotch Supply. So it's a Bloody Mary today. and
- 9:16since this is a, Airing, during the morning hours of Thursday.
- 9:22This is, this is when the podcast airs, it looks a little
- 9:24bit more realistic, right? We're drinking Bloody Marys.
- 9:27It's a popular breakfast or brunch beverage.
- 9:32It's one of my favorite brunch breakfast is I'm not a brunch or
- 9:36breakfast drinks. I should say, I said, I said
- 9:38that the drink was a breakfast which Man, I guess you could
- 9:42make it a breakfast. It's got your vegetables.
- 9:45It's got your grain and the alcohol.
- 9:48It's got your fruit with the lime.
- 9:51And if you're going to add other things to it, like, you know,
- 9:56any other sort of a accessories that I've seen beef stick, I've
- 10:00seen pepperonis. I've seen, you know, sausages,
- 10:03I've seen Jerky, there's a place around here that I want to try.
- 10:09It's got a whole frickin chicken.
- 10:13Inside of the thing. It's like 55 ounces of fish bowl
- 10:16drink with a whole fried chicken dumped in there.
- 10:21But that's not what today's topic of discussion is and I
- 10:23appreciate you guys and gals out here.
- 10:25Indulging me while I talk a bit about my Bloody Mary that, you
- 10:29know, I'm having. But today's topic of discussion
- 10:34is a again, a viewer request. And I won't say the last name.
- 10:41So I'm just going to say this is a request from Kristen on the
- 10:44Facebook post from a couple of weeks back.
- 10:47We're in. I asked a what do you guys want
- 10:50to hear rambling on the podcast? What is some of the things that
- 10:54you would like to hear? So the the topic that Kristen
- 11:01was asking about is the topic of establishing.
- 11:08Kindred or establishing a group establishing a tribe, that sort
- 11:12of thing. And I've been, I've talked a lot
- 11:13about the importance of tribe and the importance of having
- 11:17groups to assemble with, you know, like-minded people who you
- 11:21can share in ritual with and experience the beauty of what
- 11:28Heathen re is. So that's what today's topic is
- 11:32going to be about before we get into all that a couple of more
- 11:36housekeeping things I got Announcements to make one.
- 11:39Is that next weekend? So, the weekend of the 18th in
- 11:46Springfield, Tennessee. I think I mentioned this a
- 11:52couple of podcasts ago about soon upload.
- 11:56I mentioned during the podcast. I said Spring Hill that's wrong.
- 12:00This is in Springfield which is north Northeast or so of
- 12:04Nashville, Spring Hill is South. So that would have been bad when
- 12:09they where is it and Spring Hill?
- 12:10Well, it's not in Spring Hill, Jesse you moron.
- 12:12It's it's in Springfield. So, anyway, Springfield
- 12:15Tennessee. The event link is going to be
- 12:18posted in the description and show notes of this podcast.
- 12:21So, if you're interested about what I'm talking about, there
- 12:25you go. But anyway, it is a mid summer
- 12:27or summertime Heathen Gathering celebration hosted by the fine
- 12:33people of the Raven, Moon, Hearth Kindred, which is a
- 12:38Germanic Heathen. You know, Germanic polytheist
- 12:46group. They have a lot of public events
- 12:49throughout the year. They do their feast of the
- 12:52Fallen usually, in the early spring.
- 12:55They I have soon a bloat and then they have Shadow moot
- 12:59towards the end of the year and like October.
- 13:00So and so these are open public events.
- 13:04These are things that are, you know, they, they welcomed in not
- 13:08just heathens but any other sort of eclectic pagans neo-pagans,
- 13:14anybody that's just interested, curious wants to come and check
- 13:16them out. This year's going to be a really
- 13:19fun turn out. I think I know the chieftain
- 13:21Greg. He's a good friend of mine and
- 13:25has been on. this channel, the YouTube channel before and we
- 13:28haven't really like We may have actually talked as far as on the
- 13:33podcast once before. I think he may have been on the
- 13:35podcast, but you guys are on the, on the YouTube channel, go
- 13:38to my YouTube channel, midgard, musings, and just search.
- 13:42My video catalog for anything to do with Greg Strong or Raven,
- 13:46Moon Hearth and you'll see, but he's a great guy.
- 13:50They got games. They've got a ritual plans.
- 13:53They're opening up camping to those folks who want to stay,
- 13:58you know, late overnight. You know, enjoy their drink and
- 14:02stuff like that, and still be be safe without having to worry
- 14:06about traveling, you know, but it is going to be there in
- 14:11Springfield. I'm not staying the whole night,
- 14:12but I will be there on Saturday, June 18th.
- 14:15My wife, and I are going and hopefully other folks Associated
- 14:20and members of My Tribe, clear really folk, so, it's gonna be a
- 14:24fun kind of inter tribal Gathering.
- 14:26I will be there offering Rune readings for a nominal fee.
- 14:31Feet. So for 10 bucks you show up.
- 14:33You get a ticket for the event through through Raven, Moon
- 14:37heart. They have a PayPal ticket link.
- 14:40That's going to be again shared in the event description, you
- 14:44know, the event details in the description below.
- 14:47So I think I could day pass is 20 the weekend.
- 14:51If you're going to stay over Saturday into Sunday is 25 and
- 14:55it also covers your, you know, they're going to be cooking.
- 14:58They're going to have food and it's You know, provided by the
- 15:02hosts and hostesses and such so that covers your lodging and
- 15:08meal for the next day. So I will be course asking for a
- 15:15nominal ten dollar fee for Rune readings, while we're there that
- 15:19does help. Of course, support the podcast
- 15:20that help support the channel, help support, what I do here on
- 15:24this. So, I hope to see folks there.
- 15:26If you guys are in the area and you're willing to travel a
- 15:28little bit, even if you're outside of the immediate,
- 15:30Nashville. Middle Tennessee area, I do know
- 15:33some folks who are coming from outside as far as like, you
- 15:35know, for the Fort Campbell, Clarksville, Tennessee area,
- 15:39possibly those coming in from out-of-state, Kentucky.
- 15:44Not sure about where else, maybe Eastern Tennessee, like
- 15:48Chattanooga, ish area, perhaps but yeah, wherever you guys are,
- 15:53I do hope that if you were in a close enough proximity that
- 15:56you'll be able to make it and if you do Please let me know that
- 16:01you know me through the page or know me through the podcast or
- 16:04the channel or whatever would love to get some photos with
- 16:07people in, you know, get introduced to to folks in person
- 16:12should be a fun time. So, that is again next Saturday,
- 16:15June 18th. And then the Sunday after that
- 16:20here in the Murfreesboro, Tennessee area.
- 16:24We will be having a public moot or meet up.
- 16:27Calm the Middle, Tennessee heathens.
- 16:29Meet up or MTH meet up and that is just a kind of like Hey we're
- 16:34going to agree to be at a certain place at a certain time
- 16:39just to be able to meet and interact with with folks in the
- 16:42area to try to get to establish some new connections.
- 16:46You know, meet new faces, seal friends re acquaint ourselves
- 16:50with each other. We used to do these things on a
- 16:52somewhat regular basis. Several years ago before the
- 16:56world got flipped upside down with a pandemic and all that.
- 16:59And it's been a long time since we've done them.
- 17:02So we're excited to reintroduce that that's going to be at the
- 17:05kneecap McAlister's Deli on Medical Center Parkway in
- 17:09Murfreesboro. So again if you are close enough
- 17:12for in the area and you're just wanting to come out and meet say
- 17:14hi, have a bite to eat at the deli.
- 17:17They do have really good food and it's a nice relaxing, and
- 17:20very casual place to to assemble and meet new people and just
- 17:26kind of get a chance to, you know, Know what it's know what's
- 17:31going on in the area. Even if even, if you're not
- 17:32Heathen, you know, if you're even curious, if you're of
- 17:35another type of a pagan non Germanic Pagan, you know, Celtic
- 17:39pagans, I've we all know we have some Roman reconstructionists in
- 17:44the MTH group would love to meet different folks and know what
- 17:47your backgrounds are and just generally have a nice time of
- 17:51getting to know each other and build our community.
- 17:55All right, so I think that's all the housekeeping stuff as you
- 17:59guys are listening and watching. Don't forget that you can
- 18:02support midgard musings and many different ways.
- 18:04The link tree link that's posted in the description shown us.
- 18:07Of all of these podcasts is the easiest way for you to know how
- 18:12to support there's patreon, there's merchandise, there's
- 18:17Channel memberships. All that fun stuff.
- 18:20So check all that out along the way as we go, but let's Jump in
- 18:25to the topic of today, which is establishing a kindred.
- 18:30People are wondering least. Kristen is wants to know about
- 18:35establishing a kindred and I guess, you know what?
- 18:37It takes. And it's a good question, but
- 18:39it's a loaded question. So we're going to Just Ramble On
- 18:42for a bit and kind of just you know, maybe hit some of the more
- 18:45important points of it. All right?
- 18:50so anytime that I hear about, You know folks interested in
- 18:58starting something like a kindred or use the term Kindred
- 19:03and we'll use the term tribe kind of interchangeably in most
- 19:06instances of Germanic eating. The Kindred model does have a
- 19:11lot of similarities or familiarity is to what you would
- 19:16see in like a church structure, you know, it's built very
- 19:23similarly. Whereas the I'll approach to
- 19:28things is a bit more organic. I feel like there's there's
- 19:31there's definitely organizational structure to that
- 19:35group and a lot of times people will just call theirselves, you
- 19:39know, whoops of the mic a bit, they'll call themselves a
- 19:43kindred and approach a very tribal style of heathen re and
- 19:50working together and being a group, but I think that Matter
- 19:55what you call yourselves, whatever the title, you put to
- 19:58the, to the group. It see it.
- 19:59Oh, it's a collective of people of like-minded people who are
- 20:04wanting to have a close-knit group of of individuals
- 20:10families, even to share in ritual with to share in events
- 20:15with, you know, go out on outings, you know, whether it be
- 20:18camping, hiking dinner events, you know, rituals celebrations
- 20:23of here. Even poor Pagan, holy Tides,
- 20:28holidays, that sort of thing, and, and have a group to be able
- 20:31to do that with that, you know, and trust.
- 20:33And that's very important, especially in dramatic, even
- 20:37read. Because again, so much of what I
- 20:39feel, I've come to realize over the years of my Pagan Journey.
- 20:43As a heathen is the importance of tribe and the importance of
- 20:46having people who you've known trust that you've Built and
- 20:50established weird and frith with, you know, you you tied
- 20:54where she says that weird is already there, but you've tied
- 20:57each other. We are together.
- 20:59Your webs have interwoven. And there there's there is for,
- 21:06if that is establish the, the mutual sense of obligation to
- 21:09each other. So some of the important things
- 21:13I think to remember when considering that, is as the most
- 21:23I need to be looked at. What is the purpose, right?
- 21:26What is your purpose of establishing a kindred or a
- 21:30tribe? I think it should start with
- 21:32that. Why do you want to do this?
- 21:33And if it's you know, if you've already have that establish, if
- 21:35you're like, well I'm you know, I already know why.
- 21:37I just need to figure out the mechanics of it all in the
- 21:40logistics of it. All then that's great.
- 21:42But I'll use, you know, the Middle Tennessee heathens
- 21:47Facebook group. As an example.
- 21:48We have a Facebook group. That is an open online.
- 21:53Yes, it is a private Facebook group because it is needed to be
- 21:58such in order to vet. Membership requests.
- 22:02You know, it's a very simple vetting process where you know
- 22:08instead of just letting everybody and anybody join a
- 22:10group and potentially spam or or you know, share information that
- 22:16is volatile or or try to promote or push any sort of, you know -
- 22:22bigoted Nastiness you know in an online community, we have you
- 22:29know, certain questions. So you know you're going to
- 22:31agree to these rules? Are you going to be supportive
- 22:34of people regardless of their you know political and sexual
- 22:39orientations and all that kind of stuff.
- 22:42Are you won't agree. Not to post anything racist.
- 22:44You know all these types of like checks and balances that you
- 22:46have to put in place for running or or or having an online
- 22:51community, nowadays stuff like that is important. um but in
- 22:56terms of actually the doing of the Kindred type stuff I'm
- 22:59seeing and the reason why I mentioned the Middle Tennessee,
- 23:01heathens group is, I see one of the membership questions to join
- 23:05is are you currently A single or solitary practitioner, or are
- 23:14you a member of a kindred / tribe?
- 23:16And if not, are you looking to be part of one?
- 23:20You know, so it's like a multiple choice question.
- 23:22I am either a solitary practitioner.
- 23:24I am a part of a member. I am, I am a member or part of a
- 23:27kindred or tribe, or I am not a member but looking And I would
- 23:33say that most of the people that request to join em, th are not
- 23:40members of a tribe or Kindred but they're looking they're
- 23:44looking to be part of something. So for folks that are looking to
- 23:46be part of something in their area that maybe they don't have
- 23:49something established. They may look to establish it
- 23:53themselves. So that could be a good reason
- 23:55why, you know, there's really nothing in my area, you know, or
- 23:58what is in my area doesn't fit the the the type of heat and
- 24:01that I that I am and it doesn't line up with the, you know, the
- 24:06approach that I want to take and my spirituality in my religious
- 24:11observation of servants has of this folkway and so forth.
- 24:16So Once you get past all of that, once you get past the, the
- 24:22basics of it, I think it's going to be a little bit different for
- 24:25each individual or for each group of people.
- 24:27Maybe it's a collective of friends of people who have known
- 24:31each other for many, many years that are that are close and near
- 24:34and dear almost like Ken to each other much like clearly folk has
- 24:38has started to be, you know, this was a collective of
- 24:41individuals who agreed to formulate this.
- 24:47This I've with the same goals in mind, you know, to have a
- 24:52Germanic Pagan tribes in the area that that focuses on
- 24:58observing, you know, of the Heathen.
- 25:00Holy Tides as attested to, in some of the historical sources,
- 25:04like how we vote, observe our historical, you will, how we
- 25:07observe, are the historical references to see, got a bloke,
- 25:11and how we, and when we do all these things, winter nights, and
- 25:15other one, right? So, All of that has been
- 25:18established and comes the time of right now.
- 25:20What do we do to establish it? And this is where I feel As
- 25:25modern heathens, we have a lot of opportunity to utilize the
- 25:34various online resources that are available to us for good.
- 25:40There is no tribe just online right?
- 25:42There's no way that we can recreate the the true meaning of
- 25:45tribes and kindred's online. You can have Facebook groups.
- 25:49You can have this cord servers. You can run those various online
- 25:54forums. To be a sort of like Hub a
- 25:59digital Hub as it were or digital meeting place for folks,
- 26:03but you're not going to have the true interpersonal tribal
- 26:08relations online without having something brick and mortar that
- 26:13something Grassroots existing to experience that just like with
- 26:21some of the Pagan events that occur in the area, right around
- 26:24us. And now Nashville or the new
- 26:26Middle, Tennessee area, you know, Raven Moon.
- 26:28Hearth has their public events Nashville, Pagan pride is
- 26:33another one of the organizers and individuals who rally around
- 26:40to organize the national Pagan Pride day and the Pagan Unity
- 26:44Festival, which actually just recently wrapped up puff is a
- 26:50huge Gathering, a festival, a pagan festival with a bunch of
- 26:55Women vendors workshops public rituals things.
- 26:59That are LED a great work in getting people together at the
- 27:05Grassroots level the in-person level.
- 27:07You can't recreate that same feeling by just having it
- 27:11online. And I remember vaguely during
- 27:14the pandemic or shortly after the pandemics or maybe even been
- 27:18that year, when Puff the Pagan Unity Festival, folks decided to
- 27:24do their Thing online, mainly online because of all of the
- 27:29restrictions that were in place the quarantines the you know,
- 27:32you can't meet at places. There's all these you know,
- 27:36guided rules and stuff that you know prevented us from getting
- 27:40together. They they did something.
- 27:42I believe mostly through like zoom and there was no I mean, I
- 27:46don't I didn't go I wasn't I wasn't an attendee.
- 27:49I just remember sitting back and watching kind of like hearing
- 27:53some of the The things that took place in.
- 27:57I mean, there was a lot of challenges about all that they
- 28:01that they endured throughout all that.
- 28:02And there was a lot of negative feedback, you know, not that
- 28:06they didn't do their best and not that, they couldn't, you
- 28:09know, accomplish what they were trying to accomplish.
- 28:11But just the I think it proved to me, write that stuff like
- 28:15what we're trying to do the the, whether it's poverty or
- 28:18Nashville, Pagan Pride, or Raven, Moon Hearth in their
- 28:21public events, or these Middle Tennessee.
- 28:23He than me. Eat up sore stablishing a tribe
- 28:26or Kindred right? It just proves to me that you
- 28:30all this online stuff. Only goes so far when you're
- 28:33actually trying to do the Heat and thing or trying to be the
- 28:35Pagan, you know, organize those Pagan get-togethers and stuff
- 28:43like that. There's no way to effectively do
- 28:46that by just having it online. So, That's a good thing, you
- 28:51know? Because A lot of people might
- 28:54think well it's, you know, it's easier to gather when, you know,
- 28:57you don't have to worry about driving to a place or meeting at
- 28:59a certain place. That's part of the experience,
- 29:02it's part of it. That's part of why it works.
- 29:04So well is because if you can't step out of your little bubble
- 29:09there, if you're not willing to go out and meet new people and
- 29:13how worthy are you to actually be a part of something, you
- 29:16know, if you're if you're to reclusive, if you're to
- 29:18secluded, if you're to solitary and again, not to take away from
- 29:21those, that are solitary practitioners.
- 29:23If that's, you know, the way you like to be a pagan then by all
- 29:26means, don't stop. I'm just, you know, saying that
- 29:30for those that Looking to be a part of something, you're going
- 29:32to be a part of, it means you can have to be a part of
- 29:35something in person. There has to be that has to be
- 29:38that in place. So how does that whole thing?
- 29:42Get kicked off? How do you start all that?
- 29:44You can use these online platforms, right?
- 29:47You can establish things. Like hey this group is going to
- 29:49be here at a certain date and time kind of like these Middle
- 29:51Tennessee, heat and group. Meetups that we have.
- 29:54We're going to be there at a certain date and time, you know,
- 29:58just to grab a bite to eat or we're going to play pool or
- 30:00we're going To, you know, go for a hike or whatever and come on
- 30:03out and meet us and and then when you get to meet people that
- 30:09is when the seeds get planted is that and that is when you start
- 30:13to determine the caliber and measure the caliber of people in
- 30:18your area, you're going to be able to know that these are the
- 30:23types of people that I want to have more events with that.
- 30:27I want to time or my weird with and then hopefully You're the
- 30:31type of person then that they want to share in time or of
- 30:36their lives with and and then next thing, you know, the the
- 30:42natural organic growth into. Things closer knit than just an
- 30:50overall Community because what what some people I think get or
- 30:56what some groups, can potentially get into the Trap of
- 30:59is when they establish this online. you know Facebook group
- 31:04or Discord server or online chat room or whatever you know you
- 31:10could you could The barriers, the lines between what it is and
- 31:16what you're trying to do, get lost, right?
- 31:19The Middle Tennessee. Heathens group is not what they
- 31:21really focused. Yes, there are members of her
- 31:23the folk in that group. There are also members of other
- 31:26tribes in that group. It's just that digital Hub.
- 31:30It's just that digital meeting place of.
- 31:31Oh, wow. You guys are in Middle
- 31:33Tennessee. Okay.
- 31:34Well, we're in West Tennessee or we're in East Tennessee or where
- 31:38a little bit, north of your south of you, right?
- 31:40And know you guys are doing something will cool.
- 31:41I'm coming and I'm bringing A few my tribesmen and women are
- 31:46I'm bringing some of my group to meet and let's let's get to know
- 31:49each other a bit, right? That's what those things are
- 31:51for. It's not to replace the existing
- 31:55or attempt to formulate an establish something.
- 31:59So bear, that in mind to don't don't get lost in the fact that,
- 32:03oh, I've got a Facebook group of 500 people and that's my tribe.
- 32:06No, that's your online group, you know?
- 32:09I mean, that that's a bunch of different people who are
- 32:11agreeing to. Common rules and have
- 32:14commonalities amongst each other.
- 32:16And, you know, who knows how many of those x amount of
- 32:19hundreds of people are dozens of people that are in that group
- 32:22would end up being Worth to become part of your tribe.
- 32:30Or become part of the tribe that is.
- 32:34You know, established one other thing too.
- 32:38Is that once you start getting to know people.
- 32:41You know, because again relationship start from meeting
- 32:45of strangers, you know. So there's that bubble that you
- 32:50kind of have to step out of some, some of us out here are
- 32:53solitary because of our uncomfortableness with dealing.
- 33:01With all the people, you know, and getting to know other
- 33:03people. It's it makes us uncomfortable
- 33:05to Branch out and get to talk to people and all that, and I get
- 33:09that. But the nice thing is that,
- 33:12especially if you're starting something yourself and you're
- 33:16being the one to initiate it, you set the ground rules, right?
- 33:19If you're comfortable in a very public area like a Starbucks or
- 33:22a deli or a restaurant or whatever, then you've got that,
- 33:27you know, you you set the tone, you're on your home turf as it.
- 33:30And you can be comfortable whenever you feel like you need
- 33:35to leave, get up, whatever you've got that control.
- 33:39So anyway. Once you get to know people that
- 33:43are strangers and you start building relationships and then
- 33:46relationships become friendships, friendships are
- 33:49where it starts in the friendships.
- 33:50The alliance's are where things can start to become into your
- 33:57Kindred your, your tribe your group.
- 34:01One thing that I would definitely be sure to Say it is
- 34:06that don't try to force anything on anybody.
- 34:11You know, you don't want to just be like, yeah, this is a group
- 34:16of pagans and heathens. And oh, by the way, I'm trying
- 34:18to start tribe, you want in, right?
- 34:21We're taking members. We're looking for members.
- 34:23We you want to join, you want to, you know, don't don't don't
- 34:26treat like meetups and stuff as like a, you know, an opportunity
- 34:29to recruit people that can seem a bit pushy and it also I think
- 34:33takes away from the natural. An organic way that tribe
- 34:39develops. Because if it's pushed, if it's
- 34:42forced, it's not going to last, you know, don't rush into it.
- 34:46Don't be like, all right, we got our first meet up out of the
- 34:48way. All right.
- 34:49Now I've known these people for a week or two weeks or a month.
- 34:52Boom. Let's go ahead and let's call
- 34:54ourselves a tribe. Now.
- 34:57Let it happen organically, you know, and I think it's all going
- 35:00to depend on the the work you put into it.
- 35:02You're going to get as much out of it as you put into it, you
- 35:04know, if your life, you know, your job, your relationships,
- 35:09your your personal life, your priorities need to be in place
- 35:13as well. And if you're taking too much
- 35:17out of those other important things, like if your personal
- 35:20and home life is suffering just to try to develop a tribe.
- 35:24You got to readjust your priorities because Where you
- 35:28should be focusing your attention and heart on the most
- 35:32should be in your own Hearth. Under your own roof tree,
- 35:35however, big or small that is you know and make sure that that
- 35:39as well. And established make sure that
- 35:41you have a good and strong parth cult to build off of because
- 35:46that needs to exist before you can.
- 35:48Then here's the other thing to, like, kind of just branching off
- 35:50into other topics but like, always.
- 35:52See people always worried about, not all people, but I see a lot
- 35:56of people that have been worried about You know how they do this
- 35:59with the gods and how they sacrifice and how they blah blah
- 36:02blah, all the gods, the gods, the gods.
- 36:05And they've they skipped to that part and and not addressed.
- 36:11How do I Establish a relationship with my ancestors.
- 36:16How do I gift and share space with of a tear?
- 36:21Where is my Hearth cult? Do I have one?
- 36:25You know, a lot of us do. We just don't call it that.
- 36:28You may not call it a hearth cult, but, you know, from the
- 36:30moment you get up in the morning to how you prepare your tea or
- 36:33coffee, and what you do throughout the day, like when
- 36:36you sit down to read for the evening or, you know, all these
- 36:42little little It's all these little rituals as you may want
- 36:46to call it. Right?
- 36:46Like that's your heart Colt man, like that's Part of your heart
- 36:50called, it's not obviously the daily habits and stuff going
- 36:54this. So constitute Hearth cold, but
- 36:57the way that you Heathen in the sanctity and in the sovereignty
- 37:00of your home needs to be strong and it definitely needs to be
- 37:04strong. If you're going to think about
- 37:06either joining or starting your own Kindred, or tribe because
- 37:09without that strength at home without those roots, being
- 37:11planted strongly in firmly there first, then you're not gonna
- 37:15have anything, you know, strong to establish or build off of
- 37:19later. So meetups are a great way of
- 37:21doing it. Using your online presence using
- 37:24online. Forums to ask like hey guys, I'm
- 37:27going to be in this area. No, anybody come meet.
- 37:29Come say hi. I'd love to meet the folks in my
- 37:30area start start with that and then as friendships billed, as,
- 37:35as alliances are tied, maybe you, you know, start talking
- 37:39about things. And next thing, you know,
- 37:40there's there's more and more commonalities.
- 37:42And then, you know, the conversation Ventures into.
- 37:45Well, this is what I'm trying to do.
- 37:48I'm trying to establish something that Is a you know, a
- 37:51Grassroots tribe or Kindred of of like-minded folks.
- 37:55And next thing, you know how the other person's like, dude.
- 37:56I've been looking for something like that.
- 37:58I would love to be a part of that.
- 37:59What do you need me to do? How can I help?
- 38:02Oh, I know this that in the other person I can, you know, we
- 38:04can get books together. We can have regular meetings.
- 38:07We can, you know, start networking like that but it has
- 38:10to start organically has to start, you know, with meeting
- 38:14people first and establishing those alliances and those
- 38:16friendships first and letting it grow organically.
- 38:19I Can't stress that enough guys. Don't don't push for all man.
- 38:25It's been three months and I don't have a tribe yet.
- 38:28I mean you set yourself some goals but don't don't try to
- 38:34force the tree to grow. to quickly beyond what it should
- 38:39take to grow naturally because the reason why things take so
- 38:44long to establish, the reason why things may seem a bit drawn
- 38:49out and you may be feeling discouraged, as you're not
- 38:52seeing the growth, take place up above Because things are
- 38:56happening underneath. The surface has roots are being
- 38:59established, precedence is being set, you know, the foundation is
- 39:03being laid all that stuff. That happens Subterranean lie,
- 39:06like it's happening under the surface, you're not going to see
- 39:09the oak tree grow into a mighty and strong 50-foot tall, you
- 39:12know, 30 inch round monster, whatever.
- 39:17And that's not even a big oak tree but you get what I'm saying
- 39:19it's you know you're not going to see that happen overnight,
- 39:22it's going to take a long time, it's going to take years but in
- 39:24the Meantime, what's happening underneath the surface?
- 39:26Those roots are establishing their there, they're taking
- 39:29hold, and then that's going to allow everything up.
- 39:32Top to grow and flourish, you know, so look at it that way,
- 39:36take it take, take time. So establishing a kyndra, should
- 39:42be just like establishing anything.
- 39:46You want to make sure that you've got a good and wholesome
- 39:50root system established a strong root system, a healthy root
- 39:54system. establish before any growth can take place and you
- 40:02know if there are other people who are of similar minds, you
- 40:09know, like if you have people that think of the same thing as
- 40:13you are think similarly enough to you that want to Be the help
- 40:19that you need. You know, that way not one
- 40:21person's doing. And that's the other thing to
- 40:23tribe is about coming together to help one another.
- 40:26You know, it's not about one person.
- 40:27Does everything. It's about everybody has a
- 40:29position. Everybody has a place.
- 40:31Everybody has a responsibility and all of those respects shared
- 40:36responsibilities, come together to be that support system that
- 40:39you guys rely on. You know, that's I think a lot
- 40:44of time why when kindred's and stuff are being established Or
- 40:48growing. There's the there's a lot of
- 40:51hurdles that take place because you're growing many like you're
- 40:54learning about each other. You're learning.
- 40:56You're learning about your identity as a tribe, you know,
- 41:00so in the young stages it's kind of like us as individuals and we
- 41:03are, when we are young and growing we are, we are finding
- 41:06ourselves and we are establishing ourselves and
- 41:07there's times when we're getting a little bit wild and crazy and
- 41:11we get away from who we really are, because we're exploratory
- 41:16where we're learning, we're figuring.
- 41:18It all out, same things going to happen.
- 41:21You're probably not going to do the same thing in five years of
- 41:25your tribes existence that you did the first few months of it
- 41:29being a thing. I can say that, you know, for
- 41:32the short period of time that heard the folk has been a tribe,
- 41:35you know, our, our customs are things have have grown and we're
- 41:38still very new. We're still very young.
- 41:40I mean, We're going into our, I guess, you know.
- 41:46Really truly second year or do we just passed our second year?
- 41:51You know things kind of started right around the time that the
- 41:54pandemic hit the world. So we've been doing things like
- 41:57the way we've been doing it ever since.
- 41:59So you know we're only two years into this, you know, I don't
- 42:02have the most tenured experience or, you know, and stuff to do
- 42:07that, but I can say that as far as how our tribe was
- 42:10established, Is how I would look for anybody to want to establish
- 42:14anything, take your time, go easy nourish, The Roots, You
- 42:20know, and established that with the people who you have to
- 42:24establish it with if you guys are on the same page, if you're
- 42:27looking to accomplish the same things with the person who is
- 42:31launching it establishing, it is a strong enough leader to take
- 42:36consensus. From other people that are
- 42:39interested, you know. Not everybody needs to be equals
- 42:44as far as all that goes, but they have that support system.
- 42:46There is, hey, I think this is the way it should be.
- 42:48Or I think I agree with you. I want to, I want to support you
- 42:51in your decision to do it that way.
- 42:53That's good enough to, you know, and then and then go from there
- 42:57and then just take those small steps, you know, take those baby
- 43:00steps nourish everything from the roots and then watch the
- 43:05thing grow. Watch it.
- 43:07Something. And don't be afraid to prune a
- 43:12little bit once that growth takes place because without
- 43:14pruning without maintaining it, it's going to grow up to be
- 43:17something wild and crazy. And, and out of control, you
- 43:21know, storms will come through and we'll end will knock down
- 43:24some of those branches. And, you know, things are going
- 43:28to take hold. That may cause some rot to sit
- 43:31in and you got to address it, you gotta, you know, pesticides,
- 43:34bro. You know, things that are going
- 43:35to come in and damage. The growth or try to entropy
- 43:40things like that, that will kind of undermine or attempt to at
- 43:44least undermine the growth. That's part of the growth
- 43:47process. That's part of it all.
- 43:49It's not just oh we don't need the tree.
- 43:52We planted the seed and we took care of it.
- 43:54We watered it, we fed it and now there's nothing left to do is
- 43:58just let it do. Its thing.
- 44:00No man, once it takes off, and once it starts doing its thing,
- 44:02then it's even I think more of a An important thing to make sure
- 44:07that it's growing healthy and strong and that you're pruning
- 44:11it, where it needs to be pruning.
- 44:12You're taking action when the rot sets in or when there's
- 44:16disease or when there's a storm that comes and knocks things
- 44:19loose a bit and you need to, you know, nourish some regrowth The
- 44:27tribal thing, the Kindred thing. It's a living.
- 44:33It's living it. It has to be tended to in that
- 44:37way and everybody has a partner. So, as long as you are,
- 44:42organically seeking that out and not trying to force anything,
- 44:46then it will happen and it will happen.
- 44:48It's right time. And you're off to a great start.
- 44:50So thank you, Kristin for that. Question.
- 44:53And I hope that this has helped you and maybe others who are
- 44:58looking at either joining something or starting something
- 45:02in your area. I hope that it's helped and I
- 45:04hope that it's giving you some some food for thought.
