- 0:05Here's your host, Alex Garrett whist All right, Well, that voice you
- 0:15just heard in the beginning of this song was my stepdad Vic And today on
- 0:21the One Leg Up feature, I just want to say my dad and I
- 0:24had quite a week along with my mom. We're trying to have one leg
- 0:28up on my health and this stomach scar and I'd like to be in Margaritaville
- 0:33right now, but instead it's kind of a a bandaged And what did I
- 0:37say? I'm bandaged and I'm better right that wound kind of opened up in
- 0:42my middle of my stomach, and we're trying to have one leg up on
- 0:45my health and we're getting there. We're getting there. But but when we
- 0:50were done all that chaos this morning, I said to my step dad,
- 0:54Hey, what songs did Jimmy Buffett sing? Because I, of course know
- 0:58Margaritaville. We all know margat Ritaville and maybe you're having a margarita on this
- 1:02three day weekend, but have you ever heard Margaritaville karaoke style? Because on
- 1:11the radio show I work on Radio Night Live a few years ago with hosted
- 1:17by Kevin McCullough and at the time Valerie Delia a big parrot head. By
- 1:22the way, they had a little fun with Margaritaville because it was opening up
- 1:26in New York City and because she loves Jimmy Buffett so much. You gotta
- 1:30listen to what ensued on May fourth, twenty twenty one, on AM nine
- 1:36to seventy The Answer and Kevin, there is a song for everything when it
- 1:40comes to Jimmy Buffett. Just what you said describes changes in latitudes, changes
- 1:44in attitudes. Let's bring people back to New York City. You're gonna quote
- 1:49Buffett dudes all night tonight, aren't you. Well No, yeah, as
- 1:53much as I possibly care gonna Look, well, let's just let's just do
- 1:57this. I mean, if we're gonna, if we're gonna do it,
- 1:59let's do it right. Let's everybody sings watching, watching the same day.
- 2:07I'm not very good singer, but I and then not six straight on my
- 2:20fresh bod swing, Smell of the Shin begin, here's the bridget Okay,
- 2:36all right, So that was a little fun they had a couple of years
- 2:38ago. It was a core memory because I was in there training my colleague
- 2:43and friend Nick Malone at the time, and it was it was just a
- 2:46great moment there when they were singing a little Jimmy Buffett in honor of Margaritaville,
- 2:51which of course wasn't Times Square. It's had its issues, but overall
- 2:55I heard someone say today, Hey, Jimmy Buffett pass away. I'd say,
- 3:01that did not pass away for you not to drink on a three day
- 3:05weekend. Okay, so maybe I have a drink for Jimmy Buffett today.
- 3:08And on a more serious note, we do have staying in the nine seventy
- 3:14vein another radio host on the station, Joan Herman, in the adapting side,
- 3:19and here's what you got to say about adapting on a recent interview which
- 3:23you can find on the Adapting with Alex Garrett feature. When you adapt,
- 3:28you have to release expectations, because that's the problem when you stay so stuck
- 3:32to the way things are supposed to be. Like I'm not supposed to not
- 3:38have a husband. I wasn't supposed to be a single woman. I wasn't
- 3:42supposed to be an orphan so to speak. Or someone wasn't supposed to have
- 3:46that accident. My child wasn't supposed to die. I'm not supposed to be
- 3:50bankrupt. We have this story that we've written for our life, and you
- 3:54know, it governs everything we do, and when it deviates, we're lost.
- 3:59That's me fall apart. But the problem is change is the one thing,
- 4:02It's the one constant that will always happen. You can write the best
- 4:06story for your life, but life has a way of knocking you down.
- 4:11You know, look at people that experience hurricanes. They weren't supposed to lose
- 4:14their home. So you have to get rid of supposed to be and you
- 4:18have to learn to accept what is. So that link can be found in
- 4:23the description below my conversation with Joan Herman as ken. Maybe i'll throw it
- 4:27up there the conversation with Kevin McCullough and Valdelia in twenty twenty one about Jimmy
- 4:33Buffett. So go enjoy some Buffett, some burgers, and some margarita in
- 4:40honor of Jimmy Buffett. I'm Alex Garrett. We'll talk to you soon.
