- 0:15Speaker 1: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 0:19Speaker 3: Travon Henderson blocked the guy so well physically that he
- 0:23Speaker 3: got Matt and it started a whole.
- 0:25Speaker 4: Well Campbell saw that he was the first one in.
- 0:28Speaker 3: That's my runner.
- 0:29Speaker 1: I was ready to die.
- 0:30Speaker 3: There was an NFL coach that said he's the best
- 0:33Speaker 3: past protector he's ever seen coming out of college.
- 0:35Speaker 5: I forget which NFL.
- 0:37Speaker 4: Let's go, let's go, never gonna get touched.
- 0:40Speaker 5: But like I took some time Fred to actually mix
- 0:43Speaker 5: in with the with the fonds.
- 0:45Speaker 4: You guess something like.
- 0:46Speaker 3: This new surgery, I.
- 0:47Speaker 5: Know it's going to have him back before this really starts.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Can you let me have some hope, Paul for two seconds?
- 0:53Speaker 3: I think is called the speed bridge. It's like this
- 0:55Speaker 3: new procedure of how they sniff surgery in New York City. Say,
- 1:04Speaker 3: we're playing in New York when it happened, So that's.
- 1:06Speaker 5: Why you know we have the surgery that night.
- 1:08Speaker 4: Can you can you let me? I mean that's a fact.
- 1:10Speaker 4: And this is Patriots Unfiltered. Let's go, let's go, let's go.
- 1:15Speaker 4: This is Patriots Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website for
- 1:19Speaker 4: deals by a Toyota dot com. All right, welcome to
- 1:25Speaker 4: Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday here at Jillette Stadium, and
- 1:30Speaker 4: Deuce and Evan are getting ready to go to Minnesota,
- 1:34Speaker 4: so they're not here. We're joined by Alex and Matisse,
- 1:37Speaker 4: who took took a break from his T shirt sorting
- 1:41Speaker 4: to come down. Paul's here, I'm here, Matt's in the booth.
- 1:44Speaker 4: We're talking Patriots. We're gonna be talking. You know, what
- 1:47Speaker 4: we've seen in training camp so far, what we might
- 1:51Speaker 4: be seeing looking forward to the joint practices tomorrow and Thursday.
- 1:56Speaker 4: We'll get full recaps from Deuce and Evan on Thursday
- 1:59Speaker 4: when they call into the show.
- 2:01Speaker 5: So that the game was late Friday night, so we
- 2:05Speaker 5: did our show, but some of our listeners may not
- 2:08Speaker 5: have been able to chime in. So we're still talking
- 2:10Speaker 5: about the game.
- 2:10Speaker 4: Coming out party for one diminutive wide receiver that we
- 2:15Speaker 4: should talk about.
- 2:16Speaker 5: Absolutely, you're going to continue to get the gaslight.
- 2:19Speaker 4: The gaslight? What does that mean?
- 2:21Speaker 5: You came in gaslighting me with fish and the whole show.
- 2:25Speaker 4: I'm sincere. I'm not getting I know you are. That's
- 2:29Speaker 4: since that's that's the gaslighting is on your pulling the.
- 2:33Speaker 6: Somebody right, Yeah, you're's big therapy speak on Instagram.
- 2:40Speaker 4: It's by gaslighting, all right. But anyway, so we're going
- 2:43Speaker 4: to talk Patriots eight five five PATS five hundred is
- 2:46Speaker 4: the hotline podcast at patriots dot com is the email address.
- 2:51Speaker 4: So let's start with Friday night. Let's start, you know what,
- 2:55Speaker 4: Let's start with the statue.
- 2:56Speaker 6: Yes, how else do we get to the photos circulating
- 2:59Speaker 6: of you?
- 2:59Speaker 4: And but that was how the night started out, was
- 3:08Speaker 4: the unveiling of the statue, And personally, I thought, I
- 3:13Speaker 4: like the statue. I think it's really good. I get
- 3:16Speaker 4: a lot of people with the pose. I understand where
- 3:19Speaker 4: people are coming from there. You know, we have all
- 3:22Speaker 4: these iconic moments and poses that are really you know,
- 3:26Speaker 4: ingrained in our memories. But to me, we've got those photos,
- 3:31Speaker 4: we've got those videos. I like this because it's unique.
- 3:35Speaker 4: It's something new. It's not something recreating something we've already seen.
- 3:39Speaker 4: It's something that stands on its own. I heard you,
- 3:43Speaker 4: Paul on one of your shows yesterday saying, you know
- 3:46Speaker 4: they got the face right. That's half the battle with
- 3:48Speaker 4: these statues.
- 3:49Speaker 5: I think it's more than half the battle. I think
- 3:50Speaker 5: that's the far and away the.
- 3:52Speaker 6: Most Duane Wade and Christiana Ronaldo and a lot.
- 3:55Speaker 5: Of other ones too.
- 3:56Speaker 7: This is why you don't get like all the emotion
- 3:59Speaker 7: because you want to play it safe. I think they
- 4:00Speaker 7: took the safe option pose, but that you're going to
- 4:03Speaker 7: get the face right.
- 4:04Speaker 4: Right, They get the face right. I get people saying
- 4:07Speaker 4: the head's a little bit small, but when you see
- 4:13Speaker 4: but when you see it in person, it doesn't look
- 4:16Speaker 4: as bad as the photos. Because I went out yesterday.
- 4:20Speaker 4: Obviously I saw it that night, but I let me
- 4:22Speaker 4: look at this again. Did you sleep there that night? No,
- 4:27Speaker 4: they kicked me out. They kicked me out. Yeah, but
- 4:30Speaker 4: I looked at it does not look as small in
- 4:33Speaker 4: person as it might to some people in photos. It's
- 4:38Speaker 4: it's a good photo. It's it's a good statue. It's
- 4:41Speaker 4: going to be there forever. I think it's something that
- 4:43Speaker 4: we should be proud of. And I can tell you
- 4:45Speaker 4: he really liked it.
- 4:47Speaker 7: The photos.
- 4:48Speaker 4: Brady really liked it.
- 4:49Speaker 7: The photos don't do the statue justice because there's so
- 4:51Speaker 7: much details when you're in person, the knee brace, like
- 4:54Speaker 7: the unarmor on the cleats, the socks over the cleats,
- 4:57Speaker 7: like they got a lot of stuff, right.
- 4:58Speaker 6: I think most people who are critiguing it haven't seen
- 5:01Speaker 6: it in person, and that's a big issue to me.
- 5:04Speaker 6: When I saw it, it was just such a marvel
- 5:06Speaker 6: that like someone created this, like someone literally etched into
- 5:10Speaker 6: bronze and made the I don't know, I don't have
- 5:13Speaker 6: nearly enough talent. I feel like to criticize the.
- 5:16Speaker 4: Patriots dot com and I think on Patriots YouTube there's
- 5:19Speaker 4: a behind the scenes making of the statue. I highly
- 5:22Speaker 4: recommend watching that because you get a little insight into
- 5:25Speaker 4: what you're talking about, how the process worked. It is
- 5:29Speaker 4: and it's quite the process, Yeah, it really is.
- 5:32Speaker 6: It would just give you just a greater appreciation, yeah,
- 5:35Speaker 6: for what it took to I don't know, it's just
- 5:37Speaker 6: it's like a piece of fine art.
- 5:39Speaker 4: Yeah, and I know, you know, and again going back
- 5:41Speaker 4: to the post, I get it. I think, you know,
- 5:45Speaker 4: because I talked to the people that were involved. They said,
- 5:48Speaker 4: like they thought about putting a helmet on it, and
- 5:50Speaker 4: they said, no, let's not put a helmet on him
- 5:53Speaker 4: and hide him so that he's took away like half
- 5:56Speaker 4: the iconic moments right there with the Lombard. You know,
- 6:01Speaker 4: we all remember after twenty fourteen holding up the Lombardi
- 6:06Speaker 4: there are issues with like the Lombardi family owned the
- 6:09Speaker 4: rights to promoting the Lombardi, so they wanted to avoid
- 6:13Speaker 4: any problems that might be so that took away that one.
- 6:17Speaker 4: But I think at the end of the day, I
- 6:18Speaker 4: think they decided, let's just do something unique. Let's do
- 6:22Speaker 4: something that is, you know, different from all those things
- 6:26Speaker 4: that we remember, because we've got all those photos and videos.
- 6:29Speaker 4: Let's do something that stands on its own. And I
- 6:33Speaker 4: think they nailed it. I think it's a good statue's
- 6:37Speaker 4: it's one that over time, I think even the people
- 6:40Speaker 4: that are you know, grumbling about things, they'll come to like.
- 6:44Speaker 4: And I recommend seeing it in person, I really do.
- 6:47Speaker 7: I mean, the ceremony was crazy because at first I
- 6:50Speaker 7: didn't expect that many people, but also people were paying
- 6:53Speaker 7: to get into the Hall of Fame to watch behind
- 6:55Speaker 7: the glass to get a better seat.
- 6:57Speaker 6: Like it was really an incredible sight to just do
- 7:01Speaker 6: a three hundred and sixty degree spin and every rafter,
- 7:04Speaker 6: someone could be hanging off of fans work like congregated on.
- 7:09Speaker 6: Like you said, you look at the window of the
- 7:11Speaker 6: Hall of Fame, it's packed with people inside. I mean
- 7:14Speaker 6: it was like a little overwhelming.
- 7:16Speaker 5: Also, there were a lot of people that went into
- 7:18Speaker 5: the game very early and just watched it on the
- 7:21Speaker 5: jumbo tuk. My brother in law and sister in law
- 7:24Speaker 5: were among those, and they said they were not alone.
- 7:26Speaker 5: There were a lot of people hard and just to
- 7:28Speaker 5: watch it on.
- 7:28Speaker 6: The harp up and Patriot Place. Their little rooftop deck
- 7:32Speaker 6: was packed. And then you look at the bridge in
- 7:35Speaker 6: the North End zone mobbed with people like it was.
- 7:39Speaker 6: So it was really special.
- 7:42Speaker 5: To a little biased on this. Freddie and I you know,
- 7:46Speaker 5: are part of the Hall of Fame committee and I
- 7:49Speaker 5: just feel like that venue there is one of the
- 7:52Speaker 5: best things that we do. Yeah, when we do the
- 7:54Speaker 5: Hall of Fame ceremonies and that and that, that's a
- 7:56Speaker 5: great look And just the way you just explained it,
- 7:58Speaker 5: Alex sixty degree, do people up all the way up
- 8:02Speaker 5: the stairs. Yeah, it's it's just you don't necessarily have
- 8:07Speaker 5: to have like a front row seat. It's not like
- 8:10Speaker 5: you know, you're you're stuck in the three hundreds trying
- 8:12Speaker 5: to see your favorite rock band, right, you know, this
- 8:15Speaker 5: is a ceremony you just want to be a part of. Yeah,
- 8:17Speaker 5: and that I think that whole plaza is one of
- 8:22Speaker 5: the best things that we do.
- 8:23Speaker 4: It's like it's like every year like the Vatican, right, Yeah,
- 8:26Speaker 4: and it's cool that I was being serious, but you
- 8:30Speaker 4: have to have that plaza in front of the Vatican
- 8:32Speaker 4: then everyone gathered.
- 8:33Speaker 6: Yeah, it was a religious experience for Patriots fans. I
- 8:35Speaker 6: think I think it was.
- 8:38Speaker 5: It's like a statue.
- 8:39Speaker 6: It was cool that. Obviously Brady deserves a bigger Hall
- 8:45Speaker 6: of Fame ceremony, but that's the tradition, right to have
- 8:47Speaker 6: it in that plaza. So with the statue, he still
- 8:51Speaker 6: got to have that moment, you know, and now that
- 8:54Speaker 6: that statue will forever, like you have to go past
- 8:57Speaker 6: that statue to get to the Hall of Fame. And
- 8:58Speaker 6: I love that. I think that's level.
- 9:00Speaker 4: And I can tell you as a fact, more people
- 9:04Speaker 4: watched the live stream of this ceremony than did the
- 9:07Speaker 4: live stream last year of his induction. Yeah.
- 9:10Speaker 6: Well, Celtics weren't playing, so they were a playoff game.
- 9:13Speaker 4: They weren't in the final true, I forget about that.
- 9:16Speaker 4: But yeah, over, you.
- 9:17Speaker 5: Know, and it was what fifteen minutes, yeah, fifteen twenty
- 9:21Speaker 5: minutes to two hours? Yeah, yeah, makes a little easy
- 9:25Speaker 5: to watch. Yeah, but yeah, I mean I thought it
- 9:28Speaker 5: was a really cool event. I thought they did it well.
- 9:30Speaker 5: I didn't see any major issues that stood out to me.
- 9:34Speaker 5: I'm not exactly the most uh you know, technically savvy guys,
- 9:40Speaker 5: so I wouldn't really notice a lot of mistakes if
- 9:42Speaker 5: I saw them. But we were in here getting ready
- 9:44Speaker 5: to do the pregame show. We had it up on
- 9:46Speaker 5: the monitors. We were watching it.
- 9:47Speaker 4: I was up in the press Spox watching it on
- 9:50Speaker 4: my laptop and on TV, and it was great.
- 9:52Speaker 6: It was I was out on the plaza and even
- 9:55Speaker 6: some commander you.
- 9:57Speaker 5: Out there to he.
- 10:00Speaker 6: We were covering the story.
- 10:05Speaker 4: We're doing our jobs.
- 10:07Speaker 6: Anyways. All that to say, it was cool because Dietrich
- 10:10Speaker 6: Wise and John Jones came out to watch it before
- 10:13Speaker 6: the game. But it wasn't just them. There were other
- 10:15Speaker 6: Commanders players kind of lingering, and then just people from
- 10:18Speaker 6: the Commander's organization and they were like just looking around
- 10:22Speaker 6: marveling because they I don't know, it's Tom Brady won,
- 10:26Speaker 6: but I don't like that. But they've had great players,
- 10:31Speaker 6: but I mean maybe in those people's lifetime working for
- 10:35Speaker 6: the team, I think they were just they couldn't believe
- 10:37Speaker 6: how many people it drew, and just seeing the production
- 10:41Speaker 6: that it was and how cool in an event, like
- 10:43Speaker 6: they were definitely like looking around like this is this
- 10:46Speaker 6: is pretty rad, which is a.
- 10:48Speaker 4: Cool I think that's when we're at our best organization.
- 10:54Speaker 6: I agree that the ceremony and Tom Brady Night like
- 10:57Speaker 6: easily top three highlights of my career here just really
- 11:01Speaker 6: cool to be a partner.
- 11:02Speaker 4: Yeah, yah, sure, so that was good, you know, and
- 11:05Speaker 4: we welcome your thoughts about it, whether you were there
- 11:09Speaker 4: or you saw it on the stream or just saw
- 11:12Speaker 4: their recaps afterwards, your thoughts on it.
- 11:15Speaker 5: And I'd be curious not just what your thoughts are
- 11:17Speaker 5: on the statue, but your thoughts on the ceremony if
- 11:20Speaker 5: you watched it, what you thought of you know, because
- 11:23Speaker 5: it was, like I said, it was quick, fifteen minutes
- 11:25Speaker 5: or so. Maybe a little longer than that, but not much.
- 11:28Speaker 5: And I just thought it was well done. I think
- 11:31Speaker 5: the production was really good, the video was great, and
- 11:35Speaker 5: I know the guys worked really hard on that putting
- 11:37Speaker 5: that together during the course of the week. So I
- 11:41Speaker 5: just would be curious to see what people's thoughts were
- 11:43Speaker 5: in the ceremony as well as the statue.
- 11:45Speaker 4: Yeah, and I also i'd be interested people's thoughts on
- 11:48Speaker 4: what's next. You know Bill obviously, but like what do
- 11:51Speaker 4: you kind of pose do you have for him? You know,
- 11:54Speaker 4: what is what is Bill full hoodie full hood with
- 11:57Speaker 4: it on?
- 11:58Speaker 7: Oh yeah, I don't think it.
- 12:00Speaker 4: No, I think for the same reason you don't put
- 12:01Speaker 4: a helmet on Brady. You want to see his face,
- 12:04Speaker 4: you know, so do you? Yeah? Well, anyway, so that's on.
- 12:11Speaker 4: And then the game started and right off the bat
- 12:14Speaker 4: Trevion Henderson, that was electric. That was electric.
- 12:18Speaker 7: It just kind of kept the high going the whole time,
- 12:20Speaker 7: exactly the whole time. Yeah, like kick return. Then there
- 12:24Speaker 7: was the sideline interview like it was a great night.
- 12:27Speaker 4: It really was. It was. And you know, you're putting
- 12:30Speaker 4: up forty eight points in a preseason game. I know,
- 12:32Speaker 4: nothing counts, but as Dan Roach said, it doesn't count,
- 12:35Speaker 4: but it matters.
- 12:36Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 12:37Speaker 5: That was also Phil Perry actually said that give credit
- 12:40Speaker 5: credit is okay.
- 12:41Speaker 4: Well I heard Dan say it, so he probably stole
- 12:43Speaker 4: it each other.
- 12:45Speaker 5: He said that on the on the call on on
- 12:47Speaker 5: the sports as he, you know, Bob Socy obviously was
- 12:51Speaker 5: the play by play guy, and Phil Perry is his analyst,
- 12:54Speaker 5: and as he.
- 12:55Speaker 4: Oh, is that right? I thought Dan Roach was his analyst.
- 12:58Speaker 5: There you go.
- 12:59Speaker 4: Oh, I'm I'm sorry. I'm sorry to Phil.
- 13:01Speaker 5: Par correcting the record.
- 13:03Speaker 4: Sorry to Phil Parry.
- 13:04Speaker 5: Sounded like Dan Rose it was a great I thought
- 13:06Speaker 5: it was a great line.
- 13:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:07Speaker 5: It was actually for a guy I mean, not that
- 13:09Speaker 5: you know, I'm trying to make it into being, you know,
- 13:12Speaker 5: rocket science, but for a guy who doesn't really do
- 13:14Speaker 5: that for a living. It's not a full time you know,
- 13:17Speaker 5: color analyst. And Phil I think, does a really good
- 13:20Speaker 5: job of it.
- 13:21Speaker 4: Good job, Phil, you nail a line, You nail that.
- 13:24Speaker 4: It doesn't count, but it does matter. It matters his confidence,
- 13:29Speaker 4: for the team's confidence. It matters.
- 13:31Speaker 8: No.
- 13:32Speaker 7: Alex and I were in the press, Boss, I was like,
- 13:33Speaker 7: I can't remember the last time we scored this much
- 13:35Speaker 7: and it was what four years? Like, it's just point
- 13:39Speaker 7: after point, felt good? Yeah, felt good? Great, give some hope.
- 13:43Speaker 7: They were.
- 13:46Speaker 4: So a lot of individual really good stuff. Obviously, when
- 13:50Speaker 4: you score forty eight points. You have to do something
- 13:52Speaker 4: right both offense and defense. Not everything was perfect. We
- 13:58Speaker 4: have to talk about the Dre May play where he
- 14:01Speaker 4: he fumbled trying to extend the play. You know it
- 14:05Speaker 4: was I think that was that was the learning moment.
- 14:09Speaker 4: I think if you talk about like what was the
- 14:11Speaker 4: confidence builder, what was the highlight blub, I think the
- 14:14Speaker 4: learning moment for that was there's there's a lot of
- 14:18Speaker 4: work to be done in the passing game still, and
- 14:21Speaker 4: you know, whether it's two rookies miscommunicating and not you know,
- 14:25Speaker 4: handling a stunt correctly, or Drake May just not knowing
- 14:29Speaker 4: when to fold them. You know, good learning moment. Good
- 14:35Speaker 4: that it happened in the first preseason game. Let's hope
- 14:38Speaker 4: that it doesn't happen later. But something really a teachable
- 14:42Speaker 4: moment for Vrabel and McDaniels there.
- 14:46Speaker 5: Yeah, And I actually asked McDaniels because he was they
- 14:50Speaker 5: were available yesterday. The core, well was Josh McDaniels and
- 14:54Speaker 5: Jeremy Springer plus all the offensive positional coaches. So I
- 14:58Speaker 5: asked Josh, just how hard that is to sort of
- 15:01Speaker 5: you have a guy that has obvious physical skills that
- 15:05Speaker 5: not everybody has at that position in Drake May. You
- 15:09Speaker 5: don't want to take that away from him. You don't
- 15:10Speaker 5: want to turn his athleticism off and have him just,
- 15:13Speaker 5: you know, stay within the numbers all you know, stay
- 15:15Speaker 5: within the lines all the time. But how hard is
- 15:18Speaker 5: it for him to straddle that line between trying to
- 15:20Speaker 5: play hero ball and knowing when a play is over?
- 15:23Speaker 5: And I thought it was really interesting the way he
- 15:25Speaker 5: answered it. You know, he first he brought up the
- 15:28Speaker 5: play and practice that we all talked about that he
- 15:31Speaker 5: extended the play and rolled out and he threw that
- 15:33Speaker 5: long pass to Tamario Douglass. Yeah, he said, if I
- 15:37Speaker 5: had sort of beaten that out of him and told
- 15:39Speaker 5: him not to extend that play, I'd be kicking myself right.
- 15:44Speaker 5: But at the same time, he really has to do
- 15:47Speaker 5: it himself. Drake May has to learn. Like to Fred's point,
- 15:50Speaker 5: it's a learning experience. He has to learn when he
- 15:52Speaker 5: can do those things and when he should just take
- 15:56Speaker 5: the sack and live to fight another another play. Turning
- 15:59Speaker 5: the ball over puts the team in jeopardy. He turned
- 16:02Speaker 5: the ball over too much last year. Your first impression
- 16:05Speaker 5: of him this year in year two is a turnover
- 16:07Speaker 5: and that was disappointing, and Mike Rabel said so at
- 16:11Speaker 5: halftime with the broadcast, he said it to Steve Burton,
- 16:14Speaker 5: so I do think it's a learning experience, a learning
- 16:17Speaker 5: opportunity for Drake May We'll see if it works.
- 16:20Speaker 4: Yep, so a lot of you know. One of the
- 16:24Speaker 4: highlights of the game for me was Efton Chisholm. I
- 16:27Speaker 4: thought he looked really good. Now I need to see more. Obviously,
- 16:31Speaker 4: hopefully this week he'll get some run with the first
- 16:34Speaker 4: team against the Vikings in practice because he was doing
- 16:38Speaker 4: it against Scrubs. Yeah. So, but if you're going to
- 16:42Speaker 4: be good in the NFL, you should have a performance
- 16:44Speaker 4: like that against Scrubs. But let's see if he can
- 16:48Speaker 4: he can pile on that with with some more good
- 16:50Speaker 4: plays against the better.
- 16:53Speaker 5: Players coming on in practice a little bit. The practices
- 16:56Speaker 5: before the game, I thought he was a little bit
- 16:58Speaker 5: more active in because I don't think he much the
- 17:00Speaker 5: first week and a half or so, and then all
- 17:02Speaker 5: of a sudden he started to show up a little bit.
- 17:04Speaker 5: Then he had another Sunday and then he had another
- 17:06Speaker 5: good practice on on Sunday. But again, I'd like to
- 17:11Speaker 5: see it with a little bit higher caliber players around him.
- 17:15Speaker 4: Yep, yep. So we you know, we'll look at it.
- 17:17Speaker 5: He's going to have an opportunity. You got Kenrick Bourne
- 17:20Speaker 5: has been like a week and a half without practicing.
- 17:22Speaker 5: Jalen Polk goes down in the game, Mike Brabel said
- 17:26Speaker 5: he will not be practicing in Minnesota. So the wide
- 17:29Speaker 5: receiver room is you know, I know everybody thinks it's
- 17:31Speaker 5: so crowded it's really not sending itself out. But yeah,
- 17:36Speaker 5: he's going to get an opportunity. To me, it will
- 17:38Speaker 5: come down to whether or not Mike Brabel wants to
- 17:40Speaker 5: keep more than five guys. If he keeps five, I
- 17:42Speaker 5: think he's going to be on the practice squad. If
- 17:44Speaker 5: he keeps more than five, I think he has a chance.
- 17:46Speaker 4: Yep. Ye. On defense, I think we saw continued good
- 17:51Speaker 4: play from Alex Austin. I think he's really cementing his.
- 17:55Speaker 5: One of the better players for the Patriots all summer.
- 17:57Speaker 4: I think he's really cementing and then uh, what's his name?
- 18:03Speaker 1: Uh?
- 18:05Speaker 5: This would be good.
- 18:05Speaker 4: Yeah, this is a good one.
- 18:07Speaker 5: If I can figure this one out, Let's start with
- 18:08Speaker 5: the position. No, he's I mean he's getting more and
- 18:14Speaker 5: more opportunities to play with frontline players.
- 18:17Speaker 4: But I don't really see you don't see it.
- 18:20Speaker 5: I don't think he's ready. But there's something going on
- 18:23Speaker 5: that's something we can talk about in this show. Certainly
- 18:25Speaker 5: there's something going on with with Kyle Duggar where they're
- 18:28Speaker 5: not happy with him because he is going down the
- 18:32Speaker 5: debth the wrong way on the depth chart, and Woodson
- 18:34Speaker 5: is I think it's just a case of, you know,
- 18:37Speaker 5: he's the rookie and they're looking to get him, you know,
- 18:40Speaker 5: a role. But I didn't. I didn't love I didn't
- 18:44Speaker 5: love the game. But I'm more concerned with practice than games.
- 18:47Speaker 5: I say that all the time.
- 18:49Speaker 4: I had a fly on the wall during your production meeting.
- 18:53Speaker 4: Oh and I heard that you were very high on
- 18:55Speaker 4: DJ James.
- 18:57Speaker 9: Uh.
- 18:57Speaker 5: Yeah, I was very high on DJ James.
- 19:01Speaker 4: And he had a good game.
- 19:02Speaker 5: Yeah. You know. The unfortunate thing for him is it
- 19:05Speaker 5: looked like he pulled a hamstring on Sunday. He left
- 19:08Speaker 5: practice early, did not practice Monday. Hopefully he can get
- 19:11Speaker 5: out there and practice against the Vikings tomorrow and Thursday.
- 19:15Speaker 5: But yeah, he's been one of I compared him on
- 19:18Speaker 5: the broadcast to the way we looked at Malcolm Butler
- 19:21Speaker 5: in fourteen. Yeah, like just this unknown guy, undrafted rookie,
- 19:26Speaker 5: don't know a lot about, but we just keep seeing
- 19:28Speaker 5: him out there with frontline guys. Now there's been no
- 19:31Speaker 5: Gonzo and no Carlton Davis virtually every practice, so your
- 19:34Speaker 5: best two corners haven't played, so now you're starting with
- 19:37Speaker 5: three and four. DJ James is out there as like
- 19:40Speaker 5: four a lot. Yeah, Alex Austin, you saw a little
- 19:44Speaker 5: bit of Marcellus Dial then he got hurt. He's out
- 19:47Speaker 5: for the year. He's on IR with a torn acl
- 19:50Speaker 5: So there's an opportunity for some depth pieces at corner.
- 19:54Speaker 5: DJ James, in my view, has been the best one
- 19:56Speaker 5: of those guys. Miles Battle has shown up a little
- 19:59Speaker 5: bit as well, but DJ James, I think has been
- 20:01Speaker 5: the most consistent. And then all of a sudden, Jason
- 20:03Speaker 5: mccorty is talking about him and he comes up with
- 20:06Speaker 5: a pick in the game. So you'd like to see
- 20:09Speaker 5: if he can continue. Now this is a guy who
- 20:12Speaker 5: is playing with the frontline players, So like we talked
- 20:16Speaker 5: about Chisholm, you'd like to see him get more opportunities
- 20:19Speaker 5: with starters. James is showing, you know, he's covering digs
- 20:22Speaker 5: in you know, those guys that practice every day. So
- 20:26Speaker 5: he has gotten an opportunity to play with the starters,
- 20:28Speaker 5: and I think he's taken advantage of it.
- 20:30Speaker 4: Richard and Attleborough writes in the preseason color commentary with
- 20:34Speaker 4: the McCarty's and Zolec was great. However, after halftime, the
- 20:37Speaker 4: stream through Patriots dot com website for some reason lost
- 20:40Speaker 4: to all audio and seemed to be from an internal
- 20:42Speaker 4: camera without the Bob score. Not sure if this was
- 20:44Speaker 4: only my stream needing a reload? Did any other Patriots
- 20:47Speaker 4: fans notice this? On a related note, will it be
- 20:50Speaker 4: possible for us to watch the game with the mccordy
- 20:53Speaker 4: twins and Zolac for all of the regular season games
- 20:55Speaker 4: this year now? To find their commentary much more enjoyable. No, mccordy's,
- 21:00Speaker 4: hadds have real jobs.
- 21:03Speaker 5: Jason's on NBC. Jason is, Yes, Devin is on NBC
- 21:07Speaker 5: Sunday Night. Sunday Night in America. What Football Night in America,
- 21:11Speaker 5: That's what it's called. So he's part of their pregame show.
- 21:15Speaker 5: And Jason is one of the CBS's color analysts. You know,
- 21:19Speaker 5: I don't know which Andrew Catalan, I think is his play.
- 21:24Speaker 4: You know, I was on the blog and people were like, oh,
- 21:26Speaker 4: you know, I'm out of New England. I can't watch
- 21:29Speaker 4: the game on the app. How can I watch the game?
- 21:31Speaker 4: And I said, you know, you really can't. And then
- 21:33Speaker 4: I've come to find out that the game was on
- 21:36Speaker 4: YouTube anywhere, like anyone could watch this game on YouTube.
- 21:41Speaker 4: I had no idea. I had no idea. It was
- 21:44Speaker 4: supposed to me. No, but like like so I sent
- 21:47Speaker 4: somebody sent the Lincoln. I sent it out so people.
- 21:50Speaker 6: Could watch like the Patriots YouTuber.
- 21:52Speaker 4: Uh, you know what. I didn't get a chance, but
- 21:56Speaker 4: don't check. So if anyone like, like I didn't know
- 22:00Speaker 4: that that was an option, not.
- 22:02Speaker 5: Sure if so out of town. So this game is
- 22:05Speaker 5: going to be Saturday afternoons.
- 22:07Speaker 4: This no, no, this isn't a national game.
- 22:11Speaker 5: This one will be the same like Patriots preseason television network.
- 22:15Speaker 5: So I don't know. Maybe freak can shoot you another wink.
- 22:19Speaker 5: But then the last one is going to be Amazon
- 22:22Speaker 5: on Amazon, so that'd be available to anybody. Yeah, I
- 22:24Speaker 5: mean if you have Amazon.
- 22:26Speaker 4: P right, that's a national game.
- 22:28Speaker 5: Yep, no, no, Polly on that one. No national games.
- 22:34Speaker 4: Well that's right. We're not producing that right.
- 22:38Speaker 5: And that won't be on Saturday, but that's for a
- 22:39Speaker 5: different reason.
- 22:41Speaker 4: Joe and Vermont. About the Brady live stream, he said
- 22:44Speaker 4: the live stream on YouTube was great. There was some
- 22:46Speaker 4: nice close ups of the statue and face, as well
- 22:49Speaker 4: as some crowd shots so we could see Rabel. There
- 22:51Speaker 4: were a couple seconds of people on the hot mic
- 22:54Speaker 4: after the Brady speech, but luckily nothing that needs public apology.
- 22:58Speaker 4: Great win and post game show, keep up the great work. Yeah,
- 23:02Speaker 4: that's right. We we debuted Claudia on the postgame show too,
- 23:06Speaker 4: Claudia Bellafato. So new addition? Is it photo bell photo?
- 23:12Speaker 6: No?
- 23:12Speaker 5: I think it's belle fato. It's just he kind of
- 23:16Speaker 5: accented the tea there, like.
- 23:19Speaker 4: Newton blado.
- 23:22Speaker 7: B.
- 23:24Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 23:27Speaker 6: Again, I'm gonna text her and get the phonetic pronunciation.
- 23:31Speaker 5: Okay, but I just didn't you think you said bella
- 23:33Speaker 5: fato like it have just sounded funny, put.
- 23:36Speaker 6: A little juice on it.
- 23:37Speaker 5: You just say, well, you know, you like really enunciated
- 23:41Speaker 5: every syllable properly. All right, Well, it's good, well done, Fred,
- 23:45Speaker 5: well done.
- 23:45Speaker 6: It's a fun name. She's having fun with it.
- 23:47Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm getting used to the name and Claudia. I
- 23:51Speaker 4: thought she, you know, had a good personality, kind of
- 23:55Speaker 4: mixed it up with us pretty well, and I think
- 23:57Speaker 4: she'll get better as she gets to know us and
- 23:59Speaker 4: feels more comfortable with us. So looking forward to that.
- 24:03Speaker 4: Although she won't be here for the vikings.
- 24:06Speaker 5: Everybody's just taking games off now.
- 24:08Speaker 4: She's got a pre planned wedding that she needs to
- 24:10Speaker 4: go to. You young kids with your weddings.
- 24:12Speaker 5: Yeah, on the special treat for everybody this week, Mike
- 24:16Speaker 5: and Evan on the pre and postgame show. And so
- 24:18Speaker 5: Mike might not even be able to talk.
- 24:20Speaker 4: You're coming in.
- 24:21Speaker 5: Yeah, wow, So this is what happens the whole show
- 24:25Speaker 5: falls apart. They need multiple people to replace me. No,
- 24:29Speaker 5: I am not. I'm actually going to be taking my son.
- 24:31Speaker 6: To call flattering himself.
- 24:33Speaker 4: Well, this was what I do.
- 24:35Speaker 5: No one else does.
- 24:36Speaker 4: You got to do that. So Evan's going to actually
- 24:38Speaker 4: come back after joint practices on Friday. Yeah, Mike both yeah,
- 24:42Speaker 4: come both of them. So the commercial Yeah, oh.
- 24:45Speaker 7: They got to get back or I'm hosting it back
- 24:48Speaker 7: so that.
- 24:49Speaker 4: They can be part of the postgame show.
- 24:51Speaker 5: So it's say one o'clock. So it's well e eleven
- 24:55Speaker 5: forty five postgame, not pre game eleven forty five to
- 24:58Speaker 5: twelve forty five. All right, so looking for that'll be
- 25:02Speaker 5: a special treat. You know, Mike will introduce the show
- 25:05Speaker 5: and then you know, you know, Everni'll talk and maybe
- 25:07Speaker 5: Mike and Tis will get to talk later.
- 25:09Speaker 6: Maybe not, we'll Evan will probably be hilarious in that
- 25:14Speaker 6: postgame dynamic.
- 25:15Speaker 4: He's never done the post game before.
- 25:18Speaker 5: Yeah, no, he's uh, yeah, he hasn't. He hasn't been
- 25:21Speaker 5: part of.
- 25:22Speaker 6: Especially if it's a win. Evan after a win is
- 25:24Speaker 6: really funny.
- 25:25Speaker 7: He's just buzzing, even the preseastuff. I mean, if it's
- 25:29Speaker 7: like last last week, he was in a great mood
- 25:32Speaker 7: last week, well, he's never seen that many points score here.
- 25:35Speaker 5: It was in a great I'm gonna I'm gonna peel
- 25:37Speaker 5: back the curtain here a little bit. He was in
- 25:38Speaker 5: a great mood last week because quote, it was one
- 25:40Speaker 5: of the three best days of his life when he
- 25:42Speaker 5: went out and saw the statue.
- 25:45Speaker 6: Oh that's why, and it just carried.
- 25:46Speaker 7: Over to me and so get the other two his
- 25:49Speaker 7: his wedding and the TV.
- 25:52Speaker 5: He did not specify what the others were.
- 25:54Speaker 7: I assume one of them.
- 25:57Speaker 5: I'm not getting him in trouble for something he didn't do.
- 26:01Speaker 7: I think it will throw a bone and we'll say
- 26:02Speaker 7: the wedding.
- 26:03Speaker 4: I think it was the day that he first got
- 26:04Speaker 4: his subscription to p f.
- 26:06Speaker 6: F and then the day Josh Allen acknowledged his existence.
- 26:11Speaker 5: We also had trouble getting the video after the game,
- 26:14Speaker 5: like you couldn't get the film. Oh yeah, on Saturday.
- 26:17Speaker 5: It was very upset.
- 26:18Speaker 4: No man, Uh, let's go to Jack and Maldon. Who's
- 26:25Speaker 4: on the hotline. What's up Jack?
- 26:28Speaker 10: Hey, y, gentlemen, ladies ticket home? My father before the beginning.
- 26:35Speaker 8: In the sixties. Wow, nice and witnessed a lot that
- 26:42Speaker 8: the craft took over there. They really put in a winning,
- 26:45Speaker 8: uh you know situation. But I gotta say also, at
- 26:50Speaker 8: the same hand, we're putting in the highest prices in
- 26:53Speaker 8: the whole NFL, the tickets, right.
- 26:56Speaker 10: We sall have sixty down a flour. What do you think, God,
- 27:00Speaker 10: you cut any ideas to what we can do to
- 27:03Speaker 10: keep it from the genuine to climb and make it
- 27:05Speaker 10: reads the point I mean, I like to give them
- 27:07Speaker 10: out in the neighborhood to They can't afford them to
- 27:10Speaker 10: go to these camps anymore.
- 27:12Speaker 4: You know, I know it's a problem. I mean it's
- 27:14Speaker 4: not just a problem here, it's a problem all in sports.
- 27:17Speaker 5: And all aspects of the economy. Like the prices aren't
- 27:22Speaker 5: going down.
- 27:23Speaker 4: Are we the highest in the NFL?
- 27:25Speaker 5: I don't think that's accurate.
- 27:27Speaker 4: Well maybe maybe when you include the food.
- 27:30Speaker 5: And I mean, I mean, I'm not going to try
- 27:32Speaker 5: to sugarcoat it. They're one of the more expensive. I mean,
- 27:35Speaker 5: I think the New York's are more expensive, and I
- 27:37Speaker 5: think San Francisco might be more expensive. But yeah, I
- 27:40Speaker 5: mean get the point. No, I know it's not going
- 27:42Speaker 5: the other way.
- 27:43Speaker 4: Yeah, the problem. You know, if the team stinks for
- 27:46Speaker 4: a long time, maybe the price will go down. But
- 27:48Speaker 4: you don't want that, you know.
- 27:49Speaker 5: So I was not informed of this. There's a new
- 27:51Speaker 5: addition day in Boston.
- 27:53Speaker 7: Jack Well, I just saw that with the commander. Is
- 27:55Speaker 7: like their prices are going way up because the season
- 27:57Speaker 7: they had last year. But that's what it takes where
- 27:59Speaker 7: the team's good gonna happen.
- 28:00Speaker 4: Well, they also need to grease those skids because they're
- 28:02Speaker 4: going to be building into the stadium, So those prices
- 28:05Speaker 4: are gonna be whoo way up, yep, way up. So
- 28:09Speaker 4: they want to soften that blow.
- 28:11Speaker 5: Hung its thirty. If you're going New Addition Day, August
- 28:14Speaker 5: thirty in Boston, you want to come, I'm a newfield truck.
- 28:17Speaker 5: I might have to drive in for that.
- 28:20Speaker 8: Uh.
- 28:21Speaker 4: Eldred's in North Carolina? What's up? Eldred?
- 28:24Speaker 10: Hey, Hey Alex, Hey Aldred.
- 28:26Speaker 11: We've got to blow the horn. But I'm getting loaded
- 28:28Speaker 11: and the going to jump like trades.
- 28:31Speaker 4: Okay, so you're getting loaded. You was getting loaded.
- 28:36Speaker 6: He's not getting loaded. He's loading the.
- 28:37Speaker 4: True Come off the truck. Are you allowed to come
- 28:40Speaker 4: off the truck? Or do you have to stay on
- 28:41Speaker 4: the truck when they're loading?
- 28:43Speaker 11: Stay in the truck On most places, Yeah, in some
- 28:46Speaker 11: places they make you come inside, take take your wallet
- 28:50Speaker 11: and all the stuff.
- 28:51Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, what are you hauling this week? Well?
- 28:57Speaker 11: Won't this week? Yeah, I'm gonna be like Mike, I
- 29:03Speaker 11: won't drink. Show that killer instinct. He showed enough, gonna
- 29:07Speaker 11: I want to show that killer instinct. You know, go
- 29:09Speaker 11: beeple are gonna come after will come after him, And
- 29:13Speaker 11: I just want to see what he made up.
- 29:14Speaker 4: You think Flora's is gonna come after him.
- 29:17Speaker 11: Oh he came up he last week here.
- 29:21Speaker 5: Yeah, so that's the thing, and there was a lot
- 29:23Speaker 5: you know, I'm glad Elder brought that up because it's
- 29:27Speaker 5: a little different for a joint practice against that kind
- 29:30Speaker 5: of a scheme, because that's the way Minnesota plays. They
- 29:32Speaker 5: play kind of an unorthodox style defensively and they're very aggressive.
- 29:37Speaker 5: So it's not like Ryan Floor is considered and say well,
- 29:39Speaker 5: we're just gonna go vanilla. Well, that doesn't do that
- 29:41Speaker 5: any good. That's not how they play. You have to
- 29:43Speaker 5: practice like you play, right, So I do think that
- 29:46Speaker 5: they put a little bit more attention on preparing for
- 29:50Speaker 5: some of the things they'll see with with the Vikings
- 29:54Speaker 5: than they normally would heading into a you know, practice.
- 29:57Speaker 5: And Garrett Bradbury talked about it. Obviously he spent a
- 29:59Speaker 5: lot of years with Minnesota.
- 30:01Speaker 4: Say that, yeah, go ahead, No, he mentioned that he's
- 30:04Speaker 4: seen you know, he was obviously with the Vikings for
- 30:06Speaker 4: a number of years. He's seen teams come in for
- 30:08Speaker 4: joint practices without a plan.
- 30:10Speaker 5: Get embarrassed, right, right, So I don't expect the Patriots
- 30:14Speaker 5: to get embarrassed because I think that they'll be more prepared.
- 30:16Speaker 4: As I was walking here going they were on the
- 30:18Speaker 4: lower fields and doing a walkthrough and look like they
- 30:21Speaker 4: were running off cards.
- 30:22Speaker 5: And yeah, they were definitely running off cards yesterday too.
- 30:25Speaker 5: So I do think I don't want to say they
- 30:29Speaker 5: don't ever run off cards before preseason games, but I
- 30:32Speaker 5: think they might be a little bit more attention to
- 30:33Speaker 5: it for this particular one, because as I said, Flores
- 30:37Speaker 5: is a little bit different than most. Yeh, most schemes.
- 30:41Speaker 4: Yeah, go ahead, okay, one more?
- 30:44Speaker 11: Hey, wow, you keep me and you'll got John Giles
- 30:48Speaker 11: on the rock. Tray Bon put them both our rest
- 30:54Speaker 11: of the year.
- 30:55Speaker 5: For John Giles, put him on I R did you say,
- 30:59Speaker 5: no Pope on our Oh? I mean I think that
- 31:02Speaker 5: could happen. Yeah, I think that could happen. I just
- 31:06Speaker 5: I would go with five receivers and put you know
- 31:08Speaker 5: the I. I like John Giles, I really do, and
- 31:12Speaker 5: he was on the practice squad a little bit last year.
- 31:14Speaker 5: I would keep him around, and I would keep Left
- 31:16Speaker 5: and Chisholm around too, you know, as developmental guys where.
- 31:21Speaker 11: You get Chism and Pope not forcuse me, Chissm and
- 31:24Speaker 11: Jibs and Baked on the rock put those two an
- 31:27Speaker 11: hour or trade one pop on hour.
- 31:31Speaker 8: That's how big.
- 31:33Speaker 5: Yeah, but you still have the other five guys that
- 31:35Speaker 5: aren't going anywhere in my view, you know, Diggs, Douglas, Booty,
- 31:41Speaker 5: William Hollins and Williams. Those five guys, you still have
- 31:45Speaker 5: five receivers, no one. None of those guys are going anywhere,
- 31:49Speaker 5: so seven would well, they could go seven if they
- 31:53Speaker 5: want to, But I don't think that's a good use
- 31:55Speaker 5: of roster space, to be honest with you. I think
- 31:58Speaker 5: you could put those five on the roster and put
- 32:00Speaker 5: Chisholm in Giles on the prout. You have sixteen spots
- 32:03Speaker 5: on the practice squad. I think that's where you and
- 32:06Speaker 5: you figure out game the game. You might have a
- 32:08Speaker 5: matchup that you like more than others. Maybe a guy
- 32:10Speaker 5: gets banged up. You know, we haven't seen Digs yet
- 32:13Speaker 5: really you know, in the in the game, so maybe
- 32:17Speaker 5: there's you know, starting him a little bit slower in
- 32:19Speaker 5: terms of contact because I you know, remember he didn't
- 32:23Speaker 5: come out right away in the joint practice with Washington,
- 32:26Speaker 5: shortened his load.
- 32:28Speaker 6: That'll be the case in Minnesota too.
- 32:30Speaker 5: So if they're not everybody's up to speed, then maybe
- 32:33Speaker 5: that's what you do. You start, you know, adding some
- 32:36Speaker 5: guys to the roster like Chisholm, to get some extra depth.
- 32:40Speaker 4: William Lancaster says, I have to write in to give
- 32:44Speaker 4: father fred as flowers for the oracle that he provided.
- 32:47Speaker 4: On Saturday, August ninth, a seventy yard field goal was
- 32:50Speaker 4: made in preseason action by Jacksonville, as had been predicted
- 32:54Speaker 4: connection with the divine but in all serieses, I saw
- 32:57Speaker 4: this highlight on my feet. I immediately thought of Fred's
- 32:59Speaker 4: prediction that a seventy yard goal field goal would soon
- 33:02Speaker 4: be made. Did you say that I did when we
- 33:05Speaker 4: were talking about the last show.
- 33:07Speaker 7: Yeah, it's crazy. That doesn't count in my mind, Like,
- 33:10Speaker 7: what shouldn't count?
- 33:12Speaker 4: Those stats and preseason should count? Seven yard field goals.
- 33:16Speaker 4: It's a it's a practice. If you hit it in practice,
- 33:19Speaker 4: should it count. No, those games are an extension of practice.
- 33:24Speaker 7: Seventy yards though.
- 33:25Speaker 4: Yeah, it's great, so we know he has the ability.
- 33:28Speaker 7: I like that, Yeah, do it.
- 33:29Speaker 4: In the game.
- 33:29Speaker 5: I don't remember you saying that. I mean, I'm not
- 33:31Speaker 5: saying you didn't.
- 33:31Speaker 6: I remember talking about kickers and just how they're advancing
- 33:34Speaker 6: and athletes are advancing.
- 33:35Speaker 5: Yeah, that's because that's my Oh I've said, I'm a
- 33:38Speaker 5: broken record on that. I don't care who the kicker
- 33:40Speaker 5: is because they're all the same. I've said it all good.
- 33:42Speaker 4: I said it won't be long before seventy yards.
- 33:44Speaker 5: I don't think any element of football has improved over
- 33:47Speaker 5: the years as much as kicking.
- 33:49Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 33:50Speaker 5: You know, when Fred and I, you know, were kids
- 33:53Speaker 5: watching football games, it was like fifty to fifty yeah,
- 33:56Speaker 5: like anything, like yeah, you never knew if a guy
- 33:59Speaker 5: was going to make one. Now it's like special, he said,
- 34:03Speaker 5: be if a guy kicked a fifty yard or you'd
- 34:04Speaker 5: stop the presses. Right now, it's like out to sixteen.
- 34:08Speaker 7: Didn't part hit a fifty seven yard?
- 34:10Speaker 6: And yes, and now the kids have specialized kicking coaches
- 34:14Speaker 6: at high school and it's a means of them getting
- 34:16Speaker 6: to the NFL.
- 34:17Speaker 5: Right like long stay, they're just so good. Kickers are
- 34:20Speaker 5: so accurate.
- 34:22Speaker 7: They're going to narrow the goal posts that coming soon.
- 34:24Speaker 5: So Andy said that. Andy Hart said that yesterday that.
- 34:29Speaker 4: Raise the upright so that you don't have the guessing.
- 34:31Speaker 5: I just said, well, why, I said, why should they
- 34:34Speaker 5: you know, you know, Mike Giardi I think said that
- 34:36Speaker 5: he goes time, it's time to narrow the goal post.
- 34:38Speaker 5: I said, why because they're too good? I said, should you,
- 34:41Speaker 5: you know, eliminate the ability to throw five yard passes
- 34:44Speaker 5: because they get completed ninety five percent of the time, right,
- 34:47Speaker 5: you know, screens and dump offs they never go incomplete.
- 34:50Speaker 5: So should you eliminate that because they're too good at it?
- 34:54Speaker 5: He didn't have an answer. It's much like when I
- 34:57Speaker 5: have the arguments by myself. But yeah, I mean, I
- 35:01Speaker 5: think the kicking is just really good.
- 35:03Speaker 4: Yeah, well, like three point line, you know, isn't there
- 35:09Speaker 4: talk about like either making that back or I've heard
- 35:13Speaker 4: in the past thoughts of raising the rim in NBA
- 35:17Speaker 4: to twelve feet.
- 35:19Speaker 5: I haven't heard raising the rim. I've heard changing the dimensions.
- 35:23Speaker 4: Of the court.
- 35:23Speaker 5: Yeah, to make it bigger, get a little bit bigger,
- 35:26Speaker 5: push the three point line back a little bit.
- 35:29Speaker 4: I've heard that. I don't know. Yeah, let's see this is.
- 35:33Speaker 5: Should be better on that she's big into the Celtic.
- 35:36Speaker 4: In Virginia and Michigan. I usually agree with Paul, but
- 35:38Speaker 4: perhaps never have I agreed with him more than with
- 35:41Speaker 4: his take last week on In and Out Burger. It's
- 35:44Speaker 4: built up as a life changing experience. But it was
- 35:46Speaker 4: just okay. It was like McDonald's. Of McDonald's was actual food.
- 35:50Speaker 5: Okay, was made in and out better than McDonald's.
- 35:54Speaker 6: In and out's a great value. Is the better tasting.
- 35:57Speaker 4: McDonald's McDonald McDonald's is sow McDonald But.
- 36:00Speaker 6: You want to get McDonald's consistent. When it's good, it's great.
- 36:05Speaker 4: The McDonald's is better.
- 36:07Speaker 5: McDonald's is better than McDonald's.
- 36:09Speaker 12: I don't know which.
- 36:10Speaker 7: One the ever McDonald's by the casino top tier.
- 36:13Speaker 5: Do you know how many times I've been to that
- 36:14Speaker 5: McDonald's how many?
- 36:17Speaker 12: Fat guy?
- 36:20Speaker 6: Not lately not lately so good?
- 36:24Speaker 4: Why is it better than the average McDon.
- 36:26Speaker 5: Just because it's from casino and teaches probably half in
- 36:28Speaker 5: the bag.
- 36:29Speaker 6: Yeah, exactly, and everything tastes good at three am.
- 36:33Speaker 7: It gets the job done. Like the one across from
- 36:35Speaker 7: the stadium, that's a good McDonald's. They're like good McDonald's
- 36:38Speaker 7: and bad McDonald's.
- 36:38Speaker 4: That's true.
- 36:39Speaker 6: The soldiers Field McDonald the one you're like.
- 36:43Speaker 4: I was one of the best McDonald's was in North Reading,
- 36:46Speaker 4: really the Plymouth McDonald's.
- 36:49Speaker 6: The best one I had was in a Walmart and
- 36:51Speaker 6: a rant in Connecticut. Kind of it was, you know
- 36:53Speaker 6: your Foxwoods are uh Foxwoods or Mohegan and it's a
- 36:57Speaker 6: random Walmart and the McDonald's is inside best.
- 37:00Speaker 7: The one off mass cast. Don't go to that one.
- 37:03Speaker 5: Yeah, well that's for different reasons. End up on meth mile.
- 37:08Speaker 4: Dan also says, was May's lack of passing in last
- 37:11Speaker 4: week's preseason game do more to him or the pass catchers?
- 37:15Speaker 4: Is there any concern that May might play tentatively due
- 37:19Speaker 4: to thinking that the old line is still playing like
- 37:21Speaker 4: it did last season. How long before we and May
- 37:25Speaker 4: can get an accurate sense of the old line's play.
- 37:31Speaker 5: I think that's I don't know if I understand exactly
- 37:34Speaker 5: what the question is. The first part was about like
- 37:38Speaker 5: the receivers getting open, which I think was a little
- 37:40Speaker 5: bit of an issue. I talked to Evan about this
- 37:42Speaker 5: because he was breaking down the tape, and again we're
- 37:46Speaker 5: talking about fourteen plays. Drake May was on the field
- 37:48Speaker 5: for fourteen plays, So let's not try to paint this
- 37:52Speaker 5: out to be this major area of concern because the
- 37:54Speaker 5: passing game wasn't great. But I asked him what did
- 37:58Speaker 5: he see on those two short throws to Henderson? What
- 38:01Speaker 5: did Evan see downfield, and he didn't see many opportunities.
- 38:05Speaker 5: There was some line of thought on the first run
- 38:08Speaker 5: that he had that maybe Douglas was opened down the
- 38:10Speaker 5: field and he maybe he missed him, and where he
- 38:13Speaker 5: scrambled kind of took took Douglas out of the realm
- 38:17Speaker 5: of possibility. So I thought there was some issues getting
- 38:20Speaker 5: opened right away in the game. I thought the pass
- 38:23Speaker 5: protection was decent. To be honest with you, I wasn't perfect,
- 38:26Speaker 5: like Fred said, and they definitely the two kids got
- 38:29Speaker 5: fooled on that stunt, the te stunt that got to
- 38:33Speaker 5: May on the sack. But I thought he had time
- 38:36Speaker 5: when he there was one in particularly dumped off to Henderson.
- 38:39Speaker 5: Do you remember this tease, A short little one. I
- 38:42Speaker 5: thought he had time. He looked downfield, he kind of
- 38:45Speaker 5: you know, went through his progressions, didn't like anything. It
- 38:47Speaker 5: just dumped it off, took the profit. As Josh McDaniels
- 38:49Speaker 5: used to say, I didn't really have an issue with that.
- 38:53Speaker 5: But yeah, it's going to take some time to trust everything.
- 38:56Speaker 5: And don't forget Diggs wasn't out there.
- 38:58Speaker 4: Diggs is the best receiver they had right right, and
- 39:01Speaker 4: Hunter Henry wasn't out there.
- 39:03Speaker 7: Yeah, was the dump off one with Campbell lead blocking
- 39:08Speaker 7: Deli scamper.
- 39:10Speaker 5: I don't think so. No, I think it was the
- 39:12Speaker 5: other side of the field.
- 39:14Speaker 4: Santo writes in says I was a little disappointed with
- 39:17Speaker 4: the statue. I did not see it in person, living
- 39:20Speaker 4: over five thousand miles away at Maui, and I'm sure
- 39:23Speaker 4: it is impressive to most, But Brady should be holding
- 39:25Speaker 4: a ball. It's like a minute Man statue when Lexington
- 39:29Speaker 4: without a musket should be holding a ball.
- 39:32Speaker 5: I kind of agree, but I'm not disappointed. I think
- 39:35Speaker 5: it was good. I think everything about the night was good.
- 39:37Speaker 5: But I would have picked a different post.
- 39:41Speaker 4: A lot of people agree with you.
- 39:43Speaker 7: I think they went with the safe option. Like I
- 39:45Speaker 7: said before, like the bars used how to get it right,
- 39:48Speaker 7: and I think they did the I like I.
- 39:51Speaker 4: The more I thought about it, the more I liked
- 39:53Speaker 4: that they didn't just copy a photo, say okay, here's
- 39:57Speaker 4: a photo, let's just do this. It's it stands on
- 40:01Speaker 4: its own it's its own thing. So you know, like
- 40:05Speaker 4: we were talking, like you think, Bobby, or you think
- 40:07Speaker 4: of one thing to dive. So that's the statue that
- 40:09Speaker 4: they made. But now it becomes the statue is more
- 40:12Speaker 4: the moment than it is the man. You know, let
- 40:15Speaker 4: the man stand on his own.
- 40:18Speaker 6: Yeah, what's the hour back one? Is that from like
- 40:20Speaker 6: a specific moment or is just him chilling smoking a cigar?
- 40:22Speaker 4: I love that one too. It's like, what would red
- 40:25Speaker 4: Arbeck look like sitting on a park bench with a cigar?
- 40:28Speaker 4: I think they nailed it.
- 40:29Speaker 5: Yeah, that was him sitting on the bench after winning championships.
- 40:32Speaker 5: When the game was over, he would light up the cigar.
- 40:34Speaker 6: Yeah, but like, is it an iconic particular picture. Is
- 40:37Speaker 6: it just like he? That was him?
- 40:39Speaker 5: I think it was him, But I don't know enough
- 40:42Speaker 5: about each individual year that they won all those titles.
- 40:45Speaker 5: I didn't obviously it wasn't even alive.
- 40:47Speaker 7: But the helmet off limits your options too if you do.
- 40:49Speaker 5: Yeah, I would have had the helmet on. I like,
- 40:52Speaker 5: I like him standing in the pocket throwing a pass.
- 40:55Speaker 6: But then you can see pretty his faces.
- 40:57Speaker 5: Sure you can really though.
- 40:59Speaker 6: Yeah, it covers his bone structure, and that's kind of
- 41:04Speaker 6: a big thing.
- 41:05Speaker 7: Him sitting on the bench for fifty one, that'd be going.
- 41:09Speaker 7: Helmet off should have been next to him.
- 41:11Speaker 5: He should have been while he was delivering the the
- 41:14Speaker 5: honor speech. Yeah, that would have been iconic. There you go,
- 41:18Speaker 5: who's honor your arm? Just give me what happened when
- 41:25Speaker 5: I'm looking for next time? Made me drag it out
- 41:28Speaker 5: of you? Josh in Atlanta.
- 41:30Speaker 4: Friday's postgame show gave us a new drinking game, take
- 41:33Speaker 4: a shot every time Fred Suddley mentions Chi to get
- 41:37Speaker 4: under Paul's skin.
- 41:38Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 41:39Speaker 4: I counted at least uh safe to say I had
- 41:42Speaker 4: a boozy evening. Also, I think I've been promised three
- 41:46Speaker 4: T shirts in the last year, matist. Please do me
- 41:48Speaker 4: a solid and ship one my way.
- 41:50Speaker 7: I will ship you three.
- 41:51Speaker 4: I'll donate the other two to Christian in La. He
- 41:54Speaker 4: needs the wardrobe update, Emil your address.
- 41:57Speaker 6: I got this pile going right?
- 41:59Speaker 4: Why does he need three?
- 42:02Speaker 7: Maybe?
- 42:04Speaker 4: Uh? Speaking of Christian christ with a T, I a
- 42:08Speaker 4: N in Boston is on the line. What's up, Christian,
- 42:11Speaker 4: the real Christian?
- 42:12Speaker 11: Hello?
- 42:13Speaker 4: Hello, the original og Christian.
- 42:16Speaker 9: That's right, I made my balls while Christian La was shopping.
- 42:19Speaker 10: A Lulu Levin.
- 42:20Speaker 4: That's right.
- 42:24Speaker 9: That that was a lot of fun Friday all the
- 42:29Speaker 9: way around. Brady post game show, the game itself, It's
- 42:33Speaker 9: fun again. It's fun again. You have hope.
- 42:36Speaker 6: That's a great way to put it.
- 42:37Speaker 9: Forwards, watching these games and you look at you know,
- 42:40Speaker 9: you look at all the players, you look at Henderson's
- 42:42Speaker 9: dotting the game off like you did with the kickoff return.
- 42:44Speaker 10: It was great.
- 42:46Speaker 9: I went to the joint practice flash on there with Patty.
- 42:49Speaker 9: That energy was there. You guys mentioned it. You know,
- 42:53Speaker 9: place was jammed, and it's fifth grade. It's a great
- 42:56Speaker 9: failing and it's gonna be fun when we get to
- 42:59Speaker 9: the in January this year and the games. I'm hopeful
- 43:03Speaker 9: it won't matter, and I really think they will, so
- 43:06Speaker 9: just all the way around really great. And it's you know,
- 43:09Speaker 9: went back, baby, went back. We hadn't won a game yet.
- 43:11Speaker 7: We're baby.
- 43:13Speaker 4: Yeah, all right, Christian, thanks for calling in. You're good, Bud,
- 43:18Speaker 4: appreciate it. Rick and Dallas writes in, just wanted to
- 43:21Speaker 4: drop an email about an article I was reading last
- 43:23Speaker 4: week on musket Fire. I found it on Bleacher Report.
- 43:26Speaker 4: About halfway through the article, they quoted Evan Lazar as
- 43:30Speaker 4: a topanalyst for Patriots dot Com and I just wanted
- 43:33Speaker 4: to congratulate Evan on ascending to elite status in the media.
- 43:38Speaker 4: I'm just waiting for Evan to start rolling into the
- 43:40Speaker 4: podcast twenty to thirty minutes late, wearing sunglasses and some
- 43:44Speaker 4: kind of fur boa. He'll have an entourage of lackeys
- 43:47Speaker 4: shuffling around him, bringing water in various fruits. He'll probably
- 43:51Speaker 4: spend most of the podcast on his phone negotiating book
- 43:54Speaker 4: deals and movie rights to his life. Of course, I'm
- 43:56Speaker 4: picking on him a little bit. It was just fun
- 43:59Speaker 4: reading through an article in finding such a gushing ramp
- 44:01Speaker 4: up to his quote, PS, please try to fix the sound.
- 44:06Speaker 4: You guys are quiet on YouTube, and every time it
- 44:08Speaker 4: cuts to an AD break, which is frequently, the jump
- 44:11Speaker 4: in volume practically breaks my speakers. We can't control those.
- 44:15Speaker 4: Those ad breaks on YouTube come from YouTube. They don't
- 44:19Speaker 4: come from us.
- 44:20Speaker 7: So do you YouTube, We.
- 44:24Speaker 5: Don't frequently cut to ad breaks, No, we have one.
- 44:26Speaker 12: No, but YouTube does I know what you're talking about?
- 44:30Speaker 4: So sorry about that though, And they say, well, I
- 44:34Speaker 4: do other things, and all right, we're not good. You know,
- 44:38Speaker 4: listen to it on patries dot com.
- 44:39Speaker 5: Why are you allowed to argue with yourself? But when
- 44:42Speaker 5: I do it, i''s frowned upon.
- 44:44Speaker 4: Because I'm insane. There's a piece of paper that says
- 44:48Speaker 4: I'm insane somewhere I think we know clinically, Yeah, exactly
- 44:54Speaker 4: what else?
- 44:55Speaker 5: Quick response? Huh quick response, Oh.
- 45:00Speaker 4: So we'll have to wait because Mike and Puerto Rico's first.
- 45:03Speaker 4: What's up? Mike, Hey, guys, how you're doing good?
- 45:09Speaker 9: The Prince.
- 45:10Speaker 13: I'll kind of an off.
- 45:11Speaker 14: The topic question.
- 45:13Speaker 9: I have all of the three Games to Glory DVDs,
- 45:17Speaker 9: I mean productions, because some of them are DVDs and
- 45:19Speaker 9: some of them are Blu Ray. Is there any way
- 45:24Speaker 9: to get those.
- 45:26Speaker 10: Streaming or on a download?
- 45:29Speaker 13: Because right now, like I.
- 45:30Speaker 14: Used to like to watch the games, I mean the
- 45:33Speaker 14: DVDs right before the season, but now I don't.
- 45:36Speaker 13: Even have a DVD, so I can't even.
- 45:38Speaker 9: Get into those anymore.
- 45:39Speaker 4: I hear you.
- 45:40Speaker 14: Have you guys ever considered that?
- 45:41Speaker 4: I know the last two were made as downloads?
- 45:44Speaker 9: Uh?
- 45:46Speaker 4: Those were availed, Those were made available as downloads.
- 45:51Speaker 9: Uh.
- 45:52Speaker 4: So the ones prior, I don't know, what's that.
- 45:57Speaker 11: I would re purchase it at the package if you
- 45:59Speaker 11: guys put it out.
- 46:00Speaker 4: See. The problem with Three Games to Glory is the
- 46:03Speaker 4: Patriots don't own the distribution rights to that. Yeah, because
- 46:09Speaker 4: it's all NFL films and all that. So the distribution rights.
- 46:15Speaker 4: I can't remember, but it's like one of those big organizations.
- 46:19Speaker 4: I don't think it was Turner, but it's so you know,
- 46:23Speaker 4: the Patriots can't just all of a sudden make it
- 46:25Speaker 4: available by download. But what I would do is talk
- 46:29Speaker 4: to talk to some tech genius. You can take those
- 46:32Speaker 4: DVDs and you can upload and yeah, yeah you can
- 46:36Speaker 4: rip them and just save them to your hard drive.
- 46:39Speaker 5: That but can't you even get like a DVD player
- 46:43Speaker 5: for like twenty bucks?
- 46:43Speaker 4: Now, yeah you can't.
- 46:44Speaker 5: Like he's easy, yeah, you know, just have it just
- 46:49Speaker 5: to play your Patriots DVDs.
- 46:51Speaker 6: I think they're services that do that too, Like I
- 46:53Speaker 6: know you can do it with like home DVD, like
- 46:56Speaker 6: home video DVDs and VHS's you can have them digitized.
- 46:59Speaker 6: So yeah, yes, let me like this is my family
- 47:02Speaker 6: album and it's three Games to Glory.
- 47:04Speaker 5: Yeah, I got to get the nineteen eighty six North
- 47:07Speaker 5: Shore League All Star game off a VHS tape that
- 47:11Speaker 5: I have.
- 47:11Speaker 7: We talked about. That's an awesome way to get prepped
- 47:13Speaker 7: for the season. Just run back all the three games
- 47:15Speaker 7: of glorious. I might do that myself.
- 47:19Speaker 4: Yeah, I'd like to do another one someday hopefully. Yeah, Freddy,
- 47:23Speaker 4: I'd like to do another one. All right, Christian in La,
- 47:28Speaker 4: what's up Christian? What nonsense do you have for us today?
- 47:33Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 47:33Speaker 15: No, no nonsense. You know what I was listening. I
- 47:36Speaker 15: heard you, Paul, the real Christians? I am the real Christians.
- 47:39Speaker 15: And to Christian out in Patriots Lamp, what's up with
- 47:42Speaker 15: the Christian on Christian crime?
- 47:44Speaker 2: Brother?
- 47:44Speaker 15: I thought we were supposed to stick together. And no,
- 47:47Speaker 15: I do not need a T shirt because yes, my
- 47:49Speaker 15: little living walldrobe.
- 47:51Speaker 14: And fine, thank you very much.
- 47:53Speaker 15: Gosh so onto football. But the statue for Tom, I
- 47:58Speaker 15: would have loved seeing him this uh, you know, let's
- 48:02Speaker 15: go face it when you put this finger figure out
- 48:04Speaker 15: and says let's go, that would be altimate to me.
- 48:07Speaker 15: For Bill's statue. I would love him with the hoodie,
- 48:10Speaker 15: but but do your job written on the front of
- 48:13Speaker 15: the hoodie, you know, and that that famous laugh line
- 48:16Speaker 15: that that he kind of rent to the Patriots nations.
- 48:19Speaker 15: And then I like this John gild Kit. I would
- 48:22Speaker 15: like to see a lot more of him because of
- 48:23Speaker 15: his size and speed. Is there any chance that I
- 48:27Speaker 15: know you gotta go high on f and chism, But
- 48:28Speaker 15: we don't really need him that we can get John
- 48:31Speaker 15: jobs a little more love and stop coming after Christian
- 48:34Speaker 15: in La.
- 48:34Speaker 4: Guys out there, all right, thanks Christian, Now this is Christian.
- 48:40Speaker 4: Chris with a T, I A N is the original
- 48:42Speaker 4: Christian I Christian La. We love you. But there's you know,
- 48:46Speaker 4: he's the original. Let's let's face it, come on, come on,
- 48:50Speaker 4: Adam and Louisiana right then. I think the Brady statue
- 48:54Speaker 4: was good. They got his face right, which is the
- 48:56Speaker 4: most important. He didn't end up like Dwayne Wade, so
- 49:00Speaker 4: that's a win to me.
- 49:01Speaker 5: Absolutely.
- 49:01Speaker 4: I do think it could have been better if they
- 49:03Speaker 4: went with a more passionate facial expression. I know in
- 49:06Speaker 4: the detailed video of the statue they said they wanted
- 49:09Speaker 4: a stoic expression, but that's not who Brady was. His
- 49:12Speaker 4: whole personality is his passion for the game, and it
- 49:15Speaker 4: seems it's missing. As a side note, he's trying really
- 49:19Speaker 4: hard to be comedic in his speeches, but it just
- 49:21Speaker 4: feels forced. I think he wants to be what Peyton
- 49:24Speaker 4: Manning is, but it's just not him. Okay.
- 49:28Speaker 5: I think that last taps all around. I think that
- 49:30Speaker 5: last part is some validity too because from bel but
- 49:36Speaker 5: Peyton is pretty good at it, and I don't think
- 49:38Speaker 5: Tom is great at that. I think he tried to go,
- 49:41Speaker 5: you know, like an extension of the roast and it
- 49:44Speaker 5: didn't work.
- 49:46Speaker 4: Barton poland excited for the joint practices, especially for our defense.
- 49:51Speaker 4: For me, Minnesota has the best defensive infrastructure, roster, plus
- 49:56Speaker 4: coaching around the QB in the whole NFL. If McCarthy
- 50:01Speaker 4: is an adequate quarterback, then I have them as my
- 50:03Speaker 4: favorites to reach the Super Bowl from the NFC. So
- 50:07Speaker 4: it'll be very nice to see how our team looks
- 50:10Speaker 4: against a proper opponent. They did well again ever played
- 50:13Speaker 4: a game. He looks pretty good though. Yeah, I don't
- 50:17Speaker 4: They did well against Washington, but I don't see them
- 50:19Speaker 4: at the same tier as Minnesota talent wise, besides the quarterback,
- 50:23Speaker 4: I think I.
- 50:24Speaker 5: Think the Minnesota talent is a level up of what
- 50:28Speaker 5: Washington had. But I think JJ McCarthy is unproven. Yeah,
- 50:33Speaker 5: he's never played, never played a single game.
- 50:35Speaker 7: Has Jefferson been suiting opera kind of just doing the
- 50:38Speaker 7: training camp? Just get me to week one vibes like.
- 50:40Speaker 5: I don't know, and I also don't know how much
- 50:42Speaker 5: you'll see of Addison because he's going to be suspended
- 50:45Speaker 5: the first few games.
- 50:45Speaker 7: And then Rondell Moore hurt his knee in the game
- 50:48Speaker 7: last week.
- 50:48Speaker 5: So but they do you know, the email is right?
- 50:51Speaker 5: The talent for Minnesota is there. I just don't. I
- 50:54Speaker 5: don't know if i'd put them in the Favorite Cat.
- 50:55Speaker 5: I don't think there was talented as Detroit, and I
- 50:58Speaker 5: don't think there is. Probably I think they're on par
- 51:00Speaker 5: with green Bay, but I think that could go either way,
- 51:05Speaker 5: and they're certainly not as talented as Philadelphia in the NFC.
- 51:10Speaker 5: Would you agree, Fred, I know you have a good
- 51:12Speaker 5: read on these things.
- 51:13Speaker 4: I'm forwarding Alex an email.
- 51:15Speaker 6: Thank you.
- 51:17Speaker 4: What was the question?
- 51:18Speaker 5: I would say that Minnesota is a very talented roster.
- 51:22Speaker 5: I would say I don't know about the quarterback, but
- 51:24Speaker 5: in terms of, you know, in the NFC, I would
- 51:27Speaker 5: put them a notch behind Detroit for sure, probably on
- 51:30Speaker 5: par with Green Bay and certainly behind Philadelphia in terms
- 51:33Speaker 5: of talent right now.
- 51:34Speaker 4: Yeah, I think San Francisco is going down.
- 51:37Speaker 5: San Francisco is talented too. That's a good good point.
- 51:40Speaker 5: They'll be back in it this year now. The Rams
- 51:42Speaker 5: I think are in a little like I guess this
- 51:44Speaker 5: was on Twitter now and Stafford again, it doesn't look
- 51:47Speaker 5: like he's practicing today. Backs are those are tricky things.
- 51:52Speaker 5: If he can't go, then they become sort of average. Yeah,
- 51:55Speaker 5: but if he can somehow, you know this is they're
- 51:58Speaker 5: managing this and he's going to be ready to Oh,
- 52:00Speaker 5: the Rams will be heard from too. The Rams came
- 52:02Speaker 5: the closest out of any of them beat in Philadelphia.
- 52:05Speaker 4: I know. But if you can get really good odds
- 52:07Speaker 4: on Minnesota from to get to the super Bowl, that
- 52:11Speaker 4: would be a good play.
- 52:14Speaker 5: I don't think they got much of a shot, Okay,
- 52:16Speaker 5: not with an unproven quarterbacks.
- 52:18Speaker 7: All right, you guys, you'll figure out pretty soon. I
- 52:20Speaker 7: have to be like with it.
- 52:21Speaker 5: Yeah, no, I mean, listen, they get in the middle
- 52:22Speaker 5: of October and I'll be like, geez, I was worried
- 52:24Speaker 5: for nothing. He looks great, but I don't see it.
- 52:27Speaker 4: Jacket and Abba, I'm writing to beseech the PU team
- 52:31Speaker 4: to acknowledge that Will Campbell's performance in the first preseason game,
- 52:36Speaker 4: as well as in training camp, has finally dispelled any
- 52:39Speaker 4: lingering doubts about whether Will Campbell is good enough to
- 52:43Speaker 4: play left tackle in the NFL. And deserve to be
- 52:45Speaker 4: picked overall fourth overall. Doesn't it feel great to have
- 52:49Speaker 4: complete confidence in our left tackle? Do you agree? Well?
- 52:56Speaker 4: I guess not. I'm with I'm with Jacket and Arbor.
- 53:00Speaker 4: The kid's gonna be fine.
- 53:02Speaker 6: I'm very encouraged.
- 53:03Speaker 5: Watcher of the practices, Yes, I have. Did you hear
- 53:05Speaker 5: him getting screamed at yesterday by the coaches?
- 53:07Speaker 4: That's fine, You're going to get screamed at. That's all right.
- 53:10Speaker 4: He's going to be perfect.
- 53:11Speaker 5: I am nowhere near that level of confidence.
- 53:14Speaker 7: With him lead blocking. That that got me hyped off.
- 53:17Speaker 4: That we're worried more about pass blocking. And I think
- 53:21Speaker 4: he's going to be good. He's going to be good.
- 53:23Speaker 5: If you ignore the bad plays, then he will be
- 53:25Speaker 5: good because he's going to make a lot of good
- 53:27Speaker 5: plays too. So if you ignore the bad ones, he's
- 53:30Speaker 5: going to be good.
- 53:30Speaker 4: He's going to be solid. He's going to be our
- 53:33Speaker 4: left tackle for many, many years.
- 53:35Speaker 5: I hope you're right. Nothing I've seen yet would tell
- 53:39Speaker 5: me that that's going to.
- 53:40Speaker 6: Be You're not encouraged, Okay, I'm not.
- 53:44Speaker 7: What do you give him for camp so far? You're grade.
- 53:50Speaker 5: Like a C plus.
- 53:51Speaker 4: I was going to say it be okay, but I
- 53:54Speaker 4: didn't c Plus is closed close enough.
- 53:58Speaker 7: See he's get the grease.
- 54:01Speaker 4: I will David bethleehim. How will touches be distributed among
- 54:06Speaker 4: running backs? Could Stevenson's days be a sign of things
- 54:08Speaker 4: to come? Days off? Could his days off be a
- 54:12Speaker 4: sign of things to come? And could west Over play
- 54:15Speaker 4: full back?
- 54:16Speaker 5: Westover could play full back? Yeah, he's done a lot
- 54:18Speaker 5: of that, especially recently. Stevenson. I don't know what the
- 54:22Speaker 5: deal is the last two days. I thought he ran
- 54:24Speaker 5: really well Friday night about all the running backs Friday night.
- 54:29Speaker 6: Gibson had a couple of good runs. I think he's
- 54:31Speaker 6: going to fit well in the offense. We didn't see
- 54:34Speaker 6: a lot of like past catching from him, and I
- 54:36Speaker 6: feel like when he came in that's what he was
- 54:38Speaker 6: touted as. So with Josh, I hope, I don't know.
- 54:41Speaker 6: It seems like it's going to change. I feel like
- 54:43Speaker 6: running back is like probably the least of our issues
- 54:44Speaker 6: right now.
- 54:45Speaker 5: I think it's the strongest group that they have on offense.
- 54:49Speaker 6: Definitely.
- 54:50Speaker 5: You know, we were talking about this on one of
- 54:51Speaker 5: my shows yesterday, Freddy, that would be my pick. Running
- 54:55Speaker 5: back is the best position on offense definitely second though,
- 55:01Speaker 5: but I don't know what Stevenson's injury status is right now.
- 55:05Speaker 5: I don't like the idea of Henderson being in a
- 55:07Speaker 5: bigger role than what we what it looks like he's
- 55:11Speaker 5: going to have, which is like, you know, spot plays,
- 55:15Speaker 5: you know, you know, third downs, pass catching, you know,
- 55:19Speaker 5: some occasional runs out of shotguns, you know. I think
- 55:22Speaker 5: maybe toss toss sweeps, you know. I think his speed
- 55:25Speaker 5: to the pylon is going to be evident. He's electrically fast.
- 55:29Speaker 5: I mean, he is unbelievably fast, so they'll use him.
- 55:32Speaker 5: I think he's going to have a really good rookie year.
- 55:35Speaker 5: But I don't like the idea of, well he's better
- 55:37Speaker 5: than Stevenson, what's makeme the number one guy. I don't
- 55:39Speaker 5: want two hundred and fifty carries out.
- 55:40Speaker 6: I think that's just knee jerk reactions to Henderson's performance
- 55:44Speaker 6: in camp and then what we saw in the game.
- 55:46Speaker 6: But I don't know. I think Remandre could have had
- 55:48Speaker 6: a touchdown early in the game on Friday, he was
- 55:50Speaker 6: wide open in the end zone. And then I think
- 55:53Speaker 6: Drake targeted Austin Hooper and it was incomplete. Hooper was
- 55:56Speaker 6: in coverage, and then it was third and goal and
- 55:59Speaker 6: then Drake en it up running it in any ways,
- 56:01Speaker 6: but that play second and goal, I saw Remondra wide
- 56:04Speaker 6: open and the end zone, so maybe he's targeted. Then
- 56:08Speaker 6: we're not really having this discussion because who knows.
- 56:12Speaker 4: But Stevenson, Stevens.
- 56:15Speaker 5: The emails point Gibson looks like he might be inching
- 56:19Speaker 5: toward getting at least as many carries as Stevenson.
- 56:23Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 56:23Speaker 5: I think they like that. I think they like what
- 56:25Speaker 5: they've gotten out of Antonio Gibson.
- 56:27Speaker 4: Yeah, all right, Yeah, I think Gibson is a perfect
- 56:29Speaker 4: compliment to the running back because he can back up either. Yeah,
- 56:34Speaker 4: all right, my foods here will take a break. More

- 58:24Speaker 1: How are we doing?
- 58:25Speaker 4: Oh? Shoot, as we get going here, how was great?
- 58:28Speaker 5: Continue to progress in your offense? So just you know,
- 58:31Speaker 5: where do you see him at this point?
- 58:33Speaker 14: Yeah?
- 58:34Speaker 18: I think we make progress every day. You know, he's
- 58:38Speaker 18: done a lot of good things. And then, to me,
- 58:41Speaker 18: the greatest part about training camp is you have an
- 58:44Speaker 18: opportunity to see different.
- 58:46Speaker 1: Things, experience things you've never experienced.
- 58:49Speaker 18: Either with the group that you're out there with or
- 58:51Speaker 18: within our own system against different defenses.
- 58:55Speaker 1: Our defense Washington, Minnesota this.
- 58:57Speaker 18: Week, and all of those to me are super valuable
- 59:01Speaker 18: for us in terms of his growth in the system
- 59:04Speaker 18: and our offense is growth together.
- 59:06Speaker 1: So just to encouraged by what we're doing every day.
- 59:10Speaker 1: I really like the trajectory that we're on.
- 59:12Speaker 5: What's the learning it? But like for him, you know,
- 59:14Speaker 5: it's obviously work in progress.
- 59:16Speaker 7: But you need to go about it.
- 59:18Speaker 18: Yeah, I mean, he he works extremely hard every day
- 59:21Speaker 18: to be prepared for each practice and he's a quick learner,
- 59:25Speaker 18: that's for sure. And the biggest thing we've tried to
- 59:28Speaker 18: talk about since we got to get on the grass
- 59:31Speaker 18: in the spring, is to try to limit the number
- 59:34Speaker 18: of repeat errors. You know, if we if we make
- 59:36Speaker 18: an air, that's that's not a bad thing, that's a
- 59:39Speaker 18: good thing as long as we learn from it and
- 59:41Speaker 18: don't repeat it again. So he's pretty quick study in
- 59:44Speaker 18: that regard. He's got a great memory. You know, sometimes
- 59:47Speaker 18: when football, things happen one day and they might not
- 59:49Speaker 18: happen again for two three weeks, but you know, you
- 59:53Speaker 18: still got to try to process that in the moment
- 59:55Speaker 18: and do it when it's when it counts. So just
- 59:59Speaker 18: again about him the whole group in terms of their
- 1:00:02Speaker 18: willingness to learn from their mistakes and then come out
- 1:00:05Speaker 18: and get better the next day.
- 1:00:07Speaker 4: To what these guys.
- 1:00:09Speaker 10: Can do, like you map it out and wrapped it out, and.
- 1:00:12Speaker 19: Now you've seen whether or not wops or wants.
- 1:00:16Speaker 18: Yeah, I think so, And I think that will probably
- 1:00:19Speaker 18: continue to go on through training camp and then usually
- 1:00:22Speaker 18: that's gonna probably the evolution of what you do with
- 1:00:26Speaker 18: these guys will continue during the season, especially the first
- 1:00:29Speaker 18: year together. And so I think we've you know, like
- 1:00:33Speaker 18: today we're trying some new things with different people, you know,
- 1:00:36Speaker 18: and now that we have a better understanding of each
- 1:00:39Speaker 18: guy's skill set, how much they can process, who can
- 1:00:43Speaker 18: play multiple positions, the types of things that they do
- 1:00:46Speaker 18: well on first and second down maybe different than what
- 1:00:49Speaker 18: they do well on third down in the red zone,
- 1:00:52Speaker 18: same thing. So we're just we're really trying to hone
- 1:00:55Speaker 18: in on what they do well and what they do
- 1:00:56Speaker 18: best and then continue to try to grow and build
- 1:00:59Speaker 18: from there.
- 1:01:00Speaker 5: A quarterback guy Drake and obviously.
- 1:01:02Speaker 19: Have a lot of technician ability out the difficult position
- 1:01:05Speaker 19: to sort.
- 1:01:06Speaker 5: Of prevents him with that fine line which train playing
- 1:01:10Speaker 5: the hero ball and they just sort of.
- 1:01:13Speaker 14: Looking to quite another building.
- 1:01:14Speaker 5: Is that a tough to sort of straddle?
- 1:01:17Speaker 18: Uh, hopefully it won't be a tough line to straddle.
- 1:01:21Speaker 18: I think he's still learning, you know, all of those things.
- 1:01:24Speaker 18: You know, he's like, you know, he's such a gifted athlete,
- 1:01:28Speaker 18: and I think you know a lot of guys that
- 1:01:32Speaker 18: play this position that have ability to throw it but
- 1:01:35Speaker 18: also to move and make place with their legs and
- 1:01:38Speaker 18: extend plays.
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: Uh, they have to find that line themselves.
- 1:01:42Speaker 18: Honestly, we can tell them all we want, you know,
- 1:01:44Speaker 18: don't make a bad play, you know what I mean,
- 1:01:46Speaker 18: And I'm gonna be the first one in the end
- 1:01:49Speaker 18: zone when he extends a play. And you know, we
- 1:01:52Speaker 18: all saw the one to pop, you know, early in
- 1:01:53Speaker 18: training camp, and you know, if I was telling him
- 1:01:56Speaker 18: to throw that away, I'd have been pissed at myself.
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: You know what I mean.
- 1:01:58Speaker 18: So I think you know he's I would say this,
- 1:02:01Speaker 18: he's definitely more aware as we go into this training
- 1:02:04Speaker 18: camp and the next practice and all that. You saw
- 1:02:07Speaker 18: him slide a couple of times the other night, which
- 1:02:09Speaker 18: was great. So again, there's a there's a fine line
- 1:02:12Speaker 18: between holding onto the ball too long in certain situations
- 1:02:16Speaker 18: and then doing the right thing to help the team.
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: And those of those guys.
- 1:02:20Speaker 18: That were blessed with that ability, uh, they're the ones
- 1:02:23Speaker 18: that have to go out there and learn how to
- 1:02:25Speaker 18: do that and balance.
- 1:02:25Speaker 20: It the way he was able to create this Like
- 1:02:28Speaker 20: last year Draft was was a real threat for that offense.
- 1:02:31Speaker 20: Do you have like a number in mind for you
- 1:02:34Speaker 20: or Mike or both that like, Okay, we don't want
- 1:02:36Speaker 20: to see this in terms of carries for him, because
- 1:02:38Speaker 20: then we might be asking for trouble.
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I think, I mean, we don't have that.
- 1:02:42Speaker 18: We haven't talked about that, but I think you know,
- 1:02:44Speaker 18: he had four hundred and some yards rushing last year
- 1:02:46Speaker 18: on no designed runs, you know. So I think the
- 1:02:50Speaker 18: reality is is, you know, those loose plays are hard
- 1:02:53Speaker 18: to predict when they're going to come up. You know,
- 1:02:55Speaker 18: like the other night, we didn't call a pass play
- 1:02:57Speaker 18: for him to scramble for a first down, but he
- 1:02:59Speaker 18: did and it was a good play. So I think
- 1:03:02Speaker 18: he just has to understand when there's nothing there and
- 1:03:05Speaker 18: he has an opening, you know, what to do with
- 1:03:07Speaker 18: the ball. I think he's really improving in that area
- 1:03:09Speaker 18: and understanding his value to the team is when he's healthy.
- 1:03:13Speaker 18: And so I think that's what we're all talking about.
- 1:03:15Speaker 18: So players that have the ability to do both, uh,
- 1:03:18Speaker 18: they have to be smart about it because when coach
- 1:03:21Speaker 18: ray Ballways says, you know, we're going.
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: To protect the team, you know what I mean?
- 1:03:24Speaker 18: And whether that you play running back and you protect
- 1:03:26Speaker 18: the ball, or you make a great decision off the field,
- 1:03:29Speaker 18: or you're the quarterback and you scramble and you decide
- 1:03:32Speaker 18: to slide, you know, all of those things are protecting
- 1:03:35Speaker 18: the team. And so I think Drake is definitively looking
- 1:03:39Speaker 18: to try to do that, you know, every time he has.
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: The ball in his hands.
- 1:03:47Speaker 4: What are your thoughts on it? And running context their mind?
- 1:03:52Speaker 18: Think, yeah, I've never done it, doesn't mean that I
- 1:03:57Speaker 18: wouldn't do it.
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: I think it depends on if you feel like you
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: need that.
- 1:04:03Speaker 18: To gain additional inertia and move the ball forward. Obviously,
- 1:04:08Speaker 18: the Eagles are exceptional at it and have been for
- 1:04:12Speaker 18: a few years now. I don't dislike to play again.
- 1:04:16Speaker 18: I think each team is probably gonna make their own decision.
- 1:04:20Speaker 18: One thing I think it is is it's not an
- 1:04:21Speaker 18: easy play to practice in full pads and get good
- 1:04:25Speaker 18: at because we're obviously not going to create a bunch
- 1:04:27Speaker 18: of scrums on the practice field with our own defense,
- 1:04:30Speaker 18: you know, and risk injuries and those kind of things.
- 1:04:32Speaker 18: So you're gonna have to find creative ways to do
- 1:04:35Speaker 18: that if you're going to do it. And I'm sure
- 1:04:37Speaker 18: defending it is much the same conversation. You know, how
- 1:04:40Speaker 18: do we defend this if we're not allowed to dive
- 1:04:42Speaker 18: at the center's legs and you know what I mean,
- 1:04:44Speaker 18: all the things that defenses try to do to stop it.
- 1:04:46Speaker 18: So you know, we'll look at everything that may help
- 1:04:49Speaker 18: our team win, and you know, certainly Rapes will make
- 1:04:52Speaker 18: the final decision on things like that, or.
- 1:04:54Speaker 21: You've been asked this before, But when it comes to
- 1:04:56Speaker 21: the risk reward nature of Drake's game, specifically when it
- 1:04:59Speaker 21: comes to extending plays, is there anything you found yourself
- 1:05:02Speaker 21: having to do differently as a coach, knowing you've coached
- 1:05:04Speaker 21: a lot of quarterbacks, but perhaps not one with this
- 1:05:07Speaker 21: particular skill.
- 1:05:08Speaker 18: Not really, because I think you as a coach, you
- 1:05:12Speaker 18: have to coach each play as if they're not going
- 1:05:16Speaker 18: to run past the quarterback and give him a lane
- 1:05:19Speaker 18: to take off and run with the ball. I think
- 1:05:21Speaker 18: that's kind of a happening, if you know what I mean.
- 1:05:23Speaker 18: It's you know, you happen to It's like a hole
- 1:05:27Speaker 18: in one in golf, you know what I mean. Like
- 1:05:28Speaker 18: none of us are hitting it to go in the hole,
- 1:05:30Speaker 18: but sometimes I haven't never done it, but every once
- 1:05:33Speaker 18: in a while to go in and you'll go, wow,
- 1:05:34Speaker 18: that was great, you know what I mean. So I
- 1:05:36Speaker 18: think to me, when he scrambles, hopefully it's under the
- 1:05:39Speaker 18: right circumstances. I thought you saw him the other night
- 1:05:41Speaker 18: and a few of those things hang in the pocket
- 1:05:43Speaker 18: and do the right thing, you know. So we have
- 1:05:45Speaker 18: to coach as if the defense is going to play
- 1:05:48Speaker 18: good defense, and we're going to need to maintain our
- 1:05:50Speaker 18: posture as a passer and and try to find the
- 1:05:53Speaker 18: open receivers, which I think he's done a great job of.
- 1:05:56Speaker 18: And again in training camp, it's hard to simulate those
- 1:05:59Speaker 18: things because you know, we don't run with the ball
- 1:06:01Speaker 18: a whole lot, you know, and scramble and all the
- 1:06:03Speaker 18: rest of it.
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: So we'll see it'll be a work in progress during
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: the season.
- 1:06:08Speaker 6: Previews, and I know it's touched up with more of
- 1:06:09Speaker 6: a special teams.
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: Play, but just what kind of like what did you
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: we count that as an offensive?
- 1:06:14Speaker 20: What did you see on that play?
- 1:06:15Speaker 18: And just what kind of like grant weapon on Yeah,
- 1:06:19Speaker 18: I mean it's uh. I think everybody sees Trevion the
- 1:06:21Speaker 18: same way. You know, he's, first of all, he's a
- 1:06:24Speaker 18: tremendous kid, awesome individual, really hard worker, smart kid, can
- 1:06:31Speaker 18: process a lot of information, which allows you as a
- 1:06:34Speaker 18: coach to try to use him in the ways that
- 1:06:36Speaker 18: he should be used. Explosive, you know, I think we
- 1:06:39Speaker 18: all saw that the other night, and tough physical. So
- 1:06:44Speaker 18: I have many negatives to say about Trey, you know,
- 1:06:47Speaker 18: but excited to coach him.
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: He he, We've had some.
- 1:06:50Speaker 18: Really good players with skill sets that are somewhat like his,
- 1:06:55Speaker 18: maybe nobody quite as fast as you know, Vereen was
- 1:06:58Speaker 18: probably the fast. Him and Danny Woodhead where fast, but
- 1:07:01Speaker 18: Trayveon's fast fast, So excited to be with them, like, yeah,
- 1:07:07Speaker 18: we've seen he's seen plenty and and now he's putting
- 1:07:10Speaker 18: it on tape too. So we use a lot of
- 1:07:12Speaker 18: practice film to review what we what we can do better.
- 1:07:15Speaker 18: And you know, obviously we have some things we can
- 1:07:17Speaker 18: use from the past, but certainly trying to get these
- 1:07:20Speaker 18: guys to do with their own selves.
- 1:07:21Speaker 20: Seems like rule changes.
- 1:07:22Speaker 5: At Cookboks and made screens a little bit more difficult
- 1:07:24Speaker 5: to run. The beat life, what's the key to being
- 1:07:26Speaker 5: able to practice?
- 1:07:26Speaker 4: And next screed goes on a highway.
- 1:07:28Speaker 18: I think you needed practice them at full speed. So
- 1:07:31Speaker 18: whether it's in a joint practice or some type of
- 1:07:33Speaker 18: a scrimmage situation, I think those are always good. And
- 1:07:36Speaker 18: then you know, we called a few in the game
- 1:07:38Speaker 18: the other night just to it's hard to it's hard
- 1:07:41Speaker 18: to simulate that in shells without a full speed rush
- 1:07:44Speaker 18: and all the rest of it.
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: When the when the rushers have to pull off the quarterback.
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: You know, it's not the same.
- 1:07:49Speaker 18: So I think, you know, as many of those as
- 1:07:52Speaker 18: we can practice and work on, I think that's the
- 1:07:55Speaker 18: best situations. Hopefully we can run a few here this
- 1:07:57Speaker 18: week against Minnesota, see how they go, but coaching off
- 1:08:00Speaker 18: of them, and then when we get to the regular season,
- 1:08:02Speaker 18: obviously we'll have an opportunity to do it against real
- 1:08:05Speaker 18: competition each week and hopefully we know what we're trying
- 1:08:07Speaker 18: to get out of the play. The lack of cutting
- 1:08:10Speaker 18: and all that, I mean, it kind of goes both ways.
- 1:08:12Speaker 18: You know, they're not allowed to cut us on tosses
- 1:08:14Speaker 18: and all that, we're not allowed to cut them on screen,
- 1:08:16Speaker 18: so you know, even out it evens out at the end, got.
- 1:08:20Speaker 4: Two rookies on the left side.
- 1:08:22Speaker 19: I think our good friend Mike Reeves had a stat
- 1:08:24Speaker 19: hasn't been done in twenty five years to start the season.
- 1:08:27Speaker 19: What is giving you the confidence that those two guys
- 1:08:30Speaker 19: can handle what it's about to come their way?
- 1:08:32Speaker 10: Now?
- 1:08:33Speaker 18: I think you know, the way they work every day
- 1:08:36Speaker 18: certainly is that's where it's where it starts, you know,
- 1:08:40Speaker 18: and their performance, you know they've earned that right This
- 1:08:43Speaker 18: isn't something that somebody just you know, said, well, it's
- 1:08:46Speaker 18: going to do that without watching them in practice and
- 1:08:48Speaker 18: evaluating what's best for the team. So, you know, I
- 1:08:52Speaker 18: think certainly Mike has the it makes those decisions, and
- 1:08:57Speaker 18: we're all here to try to support the guys that
- 1:08:59Speaker 18: are in there and try to improve their their skill
- 1:09:02Speaker 18: set each day.
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: But I think they've performed admirably.
- 1:09:05Speaker 18: Uh, there's going to be some things they're going to
- 1:09:07Speaker 18: learn throughout the course of every game, every practice, and
- 1:09:10Speaker 18: our job is to help them improve.
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: And so uh that's what we're gonna do.
- 1:09:14Speaker 18: Uh, We're not gonna get frustrated with a mistake here
- 1:09:17Speaker 18: or there, and we're going to make sure that we
- 1:09:19Speaker 18: try to do everything we can to help them get better.
- 1:09:21Speaker 18: And uh, so far, those guys have made progress steadily
- 1:09:23Speaker 18: throughout the course of their time here.
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: And now great moments in.
- 1:09:31Speaker 4: History.
- 1:09:32Speaker 12: Final one. Outside of football, I am also an author.

- 1:09:49Speaker 4: Eric and I have a slutty cat and I like
- 1:09:53Speaker 4: to eat sawdust.
- 1:09:55Speaker 5: What Eric Sclevano Sluody cat good, Cody good.
- 1:10:02Speaker 4: Screw your Cody.
- 1:10:03Speaker 5: I didn't know about your cat.
- 1:10:04Speaker 12: Yeah, he doesn't let the cat in. I mean that's
- 1:10:07Speaker 12: the problem. It's not really his cat. Do let her in,
- 1:10:11Speaker 12: but it's not your cat, stray. I just take care
- 1:10:14Speaker 12: of it. But why don't you just take her in?
- 1:10:16Speaker 12: I do let her in.
- 1:10:18Speaker 4: No, I mean make her your cat, make you your cat.
- 1:10:22Speaker 4: I don't mean just like f Cody.
- 1:10:24Speaker 5: If you were here, I would beat the crap on
- 1:10:25Speaker 5: it now, you know, like great game, Cody.
- 1:10:28Speaker 4: Good job, like he's trying to play you know, you know, yeah,
- 1:10:32Speaker 4: either board games with him.
- 1:10:34Speaker 12: I mean, make you shut up, to make the cat yours.
- 1:10:37Speaker 4: Give the cat a home.
- 1:10:39Speaker 12: She has a home.
- 1:10:40Speaker 4: She got chewed up ears.
- 1:10:41Speaker 12: Well, you called her.
- 1:10:45Speaker 5: And now she.
- 1:10:46Speaker 4: Lives in my house.
- 1:10:47Speaker 12: She lives in your house now, So you did take
- 1:10:49Speaker 12: her in, yes years ago, Fred, Okay, that's what he cares.
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: He got her the shop.
- 1:10:55Speaker 4: What's the cat's name? That's not going You don't have
- 1:10:58Speaker 4: a name because you didn't take it.
- 1:10:59Speaker 12: I didn't have a name. I do have a name.
- 1:11:02Speaker 12: I've told you before, and you all like Meg, what
- 1:11:05Speaker 12: is it?
- 1:11:05Speaker 4: No?
- 1:11:05Speaker 5: Mozart Mozart Mittens.

- 1:12:37Speaker 4: Why, Like, why can't he just say I took the
- 1:12:41Speaker 4: cat in.
- 1:12:42Speaker 5: He's an enigma.
- 1:12:44Speaker 4: Why does everything have to be like this.
- 1:12:47Speaker 6: Cat just just it's like he's trying to close himself
- 1:12:50Speaker 6: off to being made fun of, and then by doing
- 1:12:52Speaker 6: so over and over and over and again, and then
- 1:12:54Speaker 6: he finally gives it to you, and then it just
- 1:12:58Speaker 6: it's worse than it would you think.
- 1:13:00Speaker 7: The cat still there?
- 1:13:03Speaker 5: Yeah, probably, he.
- 1:13:04Speaker 6: Said three years ago.
- 1:13:05Speaker 4: Well they don't last forever.
- 1:13:06Speaker 5: But I can't see him just getting rid of the cat. No,
- 1:13:09Speaker 5: you know, I don't know. Maybe the cat was old
- 1:13:11Speaker 5: when he found. I don't know my cats getting up there,
- 1:13:14Speaker 5: you can tell. And he's not dealing with he knows
- 1:13:17Speaker 5: changes coming in the house. He can tell.
- 1:13:20Speaker 4: Yeah, they don't like that. Yeah, Pat Nagawam, Good afternoon, fred.
- 1:13:25Speaker 4: I just wanted to give you props on the hiring
- 1:13:28Speaker 4: of Claudia as the pre and postgame show host. She
- 1:13:31Speaker 4: was insightful and kept the train rolling on both shows.
- 1:13:34Speaker 4: I thought she also had good banter between you, Pauli
- 1:13:36Speaker 4: and Duce, especially towards the end of the postgame show.
- 1:13:40Speaker 4: We all know you're the king makers. Could you also
- 1:13:42Speaker 4: possibly be a queen maker? Well? There was Eric that
- 1:13:51Speaker 4: was I didn't say that, Patty did. Uh? You see
- 1:13:58Speaker 4: how everything ties together, right, It's good. There's a float
- 1:14:02Speaker 4: of the show Nathan in New York. Fred, My biggest
- 1:14:07Speaker 4: takeaway from preseason week one is that I like the
- 1:14:11Speaker 4: foundation you're building for the pre and postgame show. We
- 1:14:14Speaker 4: learned that the new show host is a sharp She
- 1:14:17Speaker 4: learned how to manufacture a good Paul and Fred argument,
- 1:14:20Speaker 4: and Paul forced her to participate in the good, the Bad,
- 1:14:22Speaker 4: and the injured when she tried to pull in no
- 1:14:24Speaker 4: socks and read emails instead of having her own list,
- 1:14:28Speaker 4: stay on her about that. She's got to be part
- 1:14:30Speaker 4: of the show. I don't want her just reading emails
- 1:14:33Speaker 4: and to right, I'm just saying, keep it up. Don't
- 1:14:37Speaker 4: let her pass it off like I want her to
- 1:14:40Speaker 4: have an opinion, right. We don't want any stiff, no
- 1:14:46Speaker 4: stiff professional host. On one critique, Claudia was curious on
- 1:14:54Speaker 4: multiple occasions during the pre and postgame show, and Narius
- 1:14:57Speaker 4: sniff or chuckle from the PU reg Mike and Paul,
- 1:15:01Speaker 4: we are counting on you to set the culture for
- 1:15:03Speaker 4: the upcoming season. Please do better.
- 1:15:07Speaker 5: So it's going to be a problem.
- 1:15:08Speaker 4: No, no being curious.
- 1:15:09Speaker 5: He recognizes the problems before they happen.
- 1:15:11Speaker 4: That's good. No being curious. So good stuff. Though, let's see.
- 1:15:18Speaker 4: Ivan says there's zero chance Chisholm makes it to the
- 1:15:21Speaker 4: practice squad. He needs to be on the fifty three.
- 1:15:24Speaker 4: I thought he was gonna say, right right, Born is cooked.
- 1:15:29Speaker 4: We need to find a suitor or cut him. Also,
- 1:15:32Speaker 4: as talented May is from a physical standpoint, his propensity
- 1:15:36Speaker 4: to channel his inner David Krieg is troublesome. Craig Craig.
- 1:15:42Speaker 5: Okay, uh, you never heard of Dave Craig. Yeah you
- 1:15:46Speaker 5: only he played quarterback broke twenty years in the NFL.
- 1:15:49Speaker 4: I was spelled that way.
- 1:15:51Speaker 5: I remember Dave Craig small hands. Yeah, that's I think
- 1:15:54Speaker 5: what he's talking about.
- 1:15:55Speaker 4: Yeah, fumbled a lot. He had a problem with that.
- 1:15:58Speaker 5: He had a lot of fumbles.
- 1:15:59Speaker 4: Yeah yeah. Oh. Patrick in Ottawa backs you up, says
- 1:16:07Speaker 4: the Walmart McDonald's are legendary in Canada. Really, I guess
- 1:16:12Speaker 4: they're really popular in Canada.
- 1:16:15Speaker 6: All international Germany. McDonald's is really good. Jason McCarty Munich.
- 1:16:19Speaker 6: I went twice, the Guatemala and Ticu, Guatemala. McDonald's is
- 1:16:24Speaker 6: like the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.
- 1:16:26Speaker 5: So you just like go to McDonald's.
- 1:16:29Speaker 6: I think it's every anthropology. You're like learning about the specials.
- 1:16:34Speaker 5: So go to McDonald's, learn about It's not.
- 1:16:36Speaker 6: The first place I'm going to eat.
- 1:16:38Speaker 5: How do I feel like Fred right now?
- 1:16:39Speaker 9: No?
- 1:16:39Speaker 4: But it is like, it is interesting how they have
- 1:16:42Speaker 4: different they handle the same restaurant here because they're a
- 1:16:45Speaker 4: little bit different, like the one it was much more efficient.
- 1:16:50Speaker 7: Mcdouball. Yeah, it's crazy.
- 1:16:53Speaker 6: We did a whole taste test in Germany and we
- 1:16:56Speaker 6: walked out of the McDonald's and it's Jason McCarty and
- 1:17:00Speaker 6: he's like, what are you guys doing? And really, what
- 1:17:02Speaker 6: do you mean? He's like, there's all this food you
- 1:17:04Speaker 6: could eat. You're here in Frankfurt, you get schnitzel, you
- 1:17:07Speaker 6: can get whatever, and you're at McDonald's. And we had
- 1:17:10Speaker 6: to explain to him, like the.
- 1:17:11Speaker 7: Look he gave you, and I said was a chili
- 1:17:13Speaker 7: cheeseburger from McDonald's. Price duce and I went.
- 1:17:17Speaker 5: To five guys. I can't make fun of you guys
- 1:17:20Speaker 5: for going to McDonald's.
- 1:17:22Speaker 4: Oh that was I defaulted to McDonald's twice in Munich.
- 1:17:27Speaker 6: I only went once. I tried a lot of the
- 1:17:28Speaker 6: other food too. There's like really good, really good, whole
- 1:17:32Speaker 6: all of food in Germany and Kebab's Street meet.
- 1:17:35Speaker 5: Yeah, it was a couple of different places we went
- 1:17:37Speaker 5: to that one that you we all went right that
- 1:17:40Speaker 5: one restaurant. But I forget what I got that night
- 1:17:43Speaker 5: in Frankfurt.
- 1:17:44Speaker 6: Yeah, I got like a steak with you said this
- 1:17:47Speaker 6: though too. I got the truffle steak with apasta.
- 1:17:50Speaker 5: Was get what I got?
- 1:17:52Speaker 6: That's the night that there was the red wine incident.
- 1:17:55Speaker 5: That wasn't that The guy basically translated the menu for us.
- 1:17:57Speaker 5: Remember it was all in German, and we had to
- 1:18:00Speaker 5: sort of like look at an app or something.
- 1:18:01Speaker 6: To your phone camera over and it translates it.
- 1:18:05Speaker 5: But I forget what I got that night. And I
- 1:18:07Speaker 5: did have lunch and I had schnitzel somewhere, but that's like,
- 1:18:10Speaker 5: I don't think there's anything to that but that like
- 1:18:13Speaker 5: a chicken cutlet with that steak.
- 1:18:15Speaker 4: With truffles, delicious. That was so good. I really don't
- 1:18:22Speaker 4: like when people do that, I shouldn't do it.
- 1:18:26Speaker 7: Alex lost a good out You got that.
- 1:18:29Speaker 6: I did lose a good outfit, but back.
- 1:18:31Speaker 4: It just came in.
- 1:18:32Speaker 5: Oh wait, wait this just in Touchdown.

- 1:19:15Speaker 5: Good stuff for you got that breaking news in Yeah,
- 1:19:18Speaker 5: that was good. There is more.
- 1:19:19Speaker 4: I got everybody's attention.
- 1:19:21Speaker 5: There is more breaking news. There is a transaction, a
- 1:19:23Speaker 5: minor transaction for the Patriots, although not the people who
- 1:19:27Speaker 5: were involved in it.
- 1:19:27Speaker 4: I bet right.
- 1:19:29Speaker 5: They made a swap of running backs. The Patriots signed
- 1:19:32Speaker 5: Shane Watts and let go generic Prince and Watts is
- 1:19:40Speaker 5: let's see. I believe you went to Fort Hayes State
- 1:19:43Speaker 5: Division two, a lot of production there, undrafted Brookie undrafted
- 1:19:47Speaker 5: free agent. So I just would I bring this up
- 1:19:51Speaker 5: for a couple of reasons. We were talking about Remindrie
- 1:19:53Speaker 5: Stevenson a little bit and how we misspractice time this
- 1:19:56Speaker 5: week obviously lost lean and Larison who was placed on
- 1:20:00Speaker 5: an I R. I don't know if we actually mentioned
- 1:20:02Speaker 5: that on the show, because that happened over the weekend.
- 1:20:05Speaker 4: That's true.
- 1:20:05Speaker 5: Yeah, So they have a little bit of you know,
- 1:20:09Speaker 5: thinning of the ranks at the running back spot, so
- 1:20:12Speaker 5: they probably want to have someoney for these Minnesota practices,
- 1:20:15Speaker 5: an extra guy. So you still have Terrell Jennings who
- 1:20:18Speaker 5: got some carries in the game Friday night and played
- 1:20:20Speaker 5: pretty well along with Gibson and Henderson. We'll see about
- 1:20:24Speaker 5: Stevenson now. Add was it Shane Watts? Yea, And they
- 1:20:28Speaker 5: get that right for Shane Wats.
- 1:20:30Speaker 4: Camp bodies all right, eight five y five pasts five hundred.
- 1:20:34Speaker 4: Let's go to Vancouver. Sean's on the line. What's up Sean, Sean.
- 1:20:42Speaker 5: Yet here no showing no Sean very unlike Sean.
- 1:20:45Speaker 6: I ask him about the Canadian McDonald's.
- 1:20:48Speaker 4: How about Nolan in New Hampshire? What's up Nolan?
- 1:20:52Speaker 8: Hey, guys, what's going on?
- 1:20:53Speaker 14: Thy question is Born, Baker and Chisholm. I'm looking for
- 1:20:57Speaker 14: one reason to keep and one reason to cut the
- 1:21:00Speaker 14: roster for each guy.
- 1:21:01Speaker 4: Thank you, Born, Baker, Chisholm, thanks for the game.
- 1:21:06Speaker 7: The cutter trade.
- 1:21:07Speaker 5: One reason to cut, one reason to keep. I would
- 1:21:10Speaker 5: say Baker, the reason to keep would be what Evan
- 1:21:14Speaker 5: always talks about, how he's a little different, He's a
- 1:21:17Speaker 5: little little taller, more adept at playing better straight line
- 1:21:21Speaker 5: speed on the outside. To cut him, I would say
- 1:21:26Speaker 5: he just hasn't shown the consistency over the years right
- 1:21:29Speaker 5: to warn a spot. Chisholm, his was pretty obvious. The
- 1:21:34Speaker 5: reason you would keep him, it's what Fred talks about,
- 1:21:36Speaker 5: his quickness, his cutting ability in the slot. The reason
- 1:21:42Speaker 5: to cut him would be that kind of redundant. They
- 1:21:44Speaker 5: have a few guys like that. It's pretty small, small
- 1:21:47Speaker 5: catch radius. With Born. You'd be keeping him for his
- 1:21:52Speaker 5: experience in Josh McDaniels' system in the NFL in general,
- 1:21:58Speaker 5: you'd let him go because he just hasn't been able
- 1:22:00Speaker 5: to stay healthy and you know what he is. Yeah,
- 1:22:03Speaker 5: you kind of kind of tapped out. Yeah, potential wise,
- 1:22:07Speaker 5: does that.
- 1:22:07Speaker 4: Worka works for me? But I would have said Travis
- 1:22:14Speaker 4: and West Virginia. My favorite thing about the new pre
- 1:22:16Speaker 4: post the host is that she didn't call email electronic
- 1:22:19Speaker 4: mail and didn't say waiting patiently for every call she took.
- 1:22:23Speaker 4: On the post game show, you guys got very giggly.
- 1:22:26Speaker 4: I will chalk it up to being punch drunk, but
- 1:22:28Speaker 4: your wives might think it was flirty.
- 1:22:30Speaker 9: Oo.
- 1:22:31Speaker 4: Wow, Okay, were we giggly?
- 1:22:36Speaker 5: I got a lot of this? I got a lot
- 1:22:38Speaker 5: of this on did.
- 1:22:39Speaker 4: You yeah that we were giggly?
- 1:22:41Speaker 16: No?
- 1:22:42Speaker 4: Oh, that you were flirting by Who's.
- 1:22:45Speaker 5: A lot of trolls really, which I was expecting. Wow,
- 1:22:50Speaker 5: happens when you put the old guy with the young girl. Wow,
- 1:22:54Speaker 5: creep meter goes high.
- 1:22:57Speaker 4: You know creep.
- 1:22:58Speaker 5: That's that's my my lot in life. Now for the next.
- 1:23:01Speaker 4: Year, Kyle and Pembroke, I have three hot takes takes
- 1:23:07Speaker 4: that I know might be too much for the season,
- 1:23:10Speaker 4: and want to get your guys' opinions on them caveat
- 1:23:13Speaker 4: these all assumed players remain healthy. One his first hot
- 1:23:17Speaker 4: take to Mario Douglas, with this athleticism, will have the
- 1:23:21Speaker 4: most productive season of a Patriots slot receiver in their history.
- 1:23:25Speaker 4: One hundred and twenty plus catches, sixteen hundred yards and
- 1:23:28Speaker 4: ten touchdowns. Yeah, that's ridiculous. Two, the Patriots will go
- 1:23:34Speaker 4: from having a one top one hundred player to having
- 1:23:37Speaker 4: six this year. Barmore, Gonzalez, Drake May, Robert Spelane to
- 1:23:43Speaker 4: Mario Douglas and Stefan Diggs.
- 1:23:45Speaker 7: That's not hot at all.
- 1:23:47Speaker 4: That's not hot at all. You agree?
- 1:23:49Speaker 7: Did you see the top one hundred lists they have,
- 1:23:51Speaker 7: like Cooper dejen like, you just have to have your
- 1:23:53Speaker 7: teammates have a good season, you can get in the list.
- 1:23:55Speaker 5: Those guys are not top hundred players, not all of
- 1:23:57Speaker 5: them anyway.
- 1:23:58Speaker 7: I just it's voted by players. I could see that.
- 1:24:00Speaker 6: Okay, three six of them.
- 1:24:03Speaker 7: You're not six.
- 1:24:04Speaker 5: But well that's what he said.
- 1:24:07Speaker 4: So you disagree.
- 1:24:09Speaker 7: No, you don't stand pat six.
- 1:24:10Speaker 4: Okay, yeah, but if you take them, if you take
- 1:24:15Speaker 4: them all individually, Barmore could be one. Yes, for sure, Okay.
- 1:24:18Speaker 4: Gonzo Gonzo is one. Yep, he's already Splaine. That's that's
- 1:24:25Speaker 4: the tough, questionable one, tough one for Splaine. Douglas could
- 1:24:29Speaker 4: be tough, and Diggs could be if he has a
- 1:24:33Speaker 4: lot of productions.
- 1:24:34Speaker 6: I think four that could happen.
- 1:24:37Speaker 7: I think there are a lot of players that got
- 1:24:39Speaker 7: on it this year that should have been on it.
- 1:24:41Speaker 5: Better chance two or six to two?
- 1:24:45Speaker 6: Okay, far more Gonzo captain obvious or digs. If he
- 1:24:49Speaker 6: has a.
- 1:24:50Speaker 5: Take, I don't think it's why is it obvious?
- 1:24:52Speaker 4: Yeah? I would say that for any team, it's more
- 1:24:55Speaker 4: likely to have two than six in the top ten.
- 1:24:58Speaker 5: Mm hmm, right, I'd have to look at the list.
- 1:25:01Speaker 5: He seems like he's a little bit more up to
- 1:25:03Speaker 5: speed on.
- 1:25:03Speaker 4: The list of the individuals.
- 1:25:05Speaker 7: Kooper dition is not fater than Gonzo.
- 1:25:07Speaker 4: You just mentioned one guy?
- 1:25:10Speaker 7: How many?
- 1:25:12Speaker 9: Right?
- 1:25:12Speaker 7: By thirty places?
- 1:25:13Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:25:13Speaker 5: I mean, I just said I'm not familiar studied. But
- 1:25:17Speaker 5: there's two people that care about the list. Tease an
- 1:25:20Speaker 5: NFL network.
- 1:25:21Speaker 4: Matissa is all into like fake football, Madden or list
- 1:25:27Speaker 4: or rating Madden ratings or you know, like.
- 1:25:30Speaker 6: You feel about.
- 1:25:32Speaker 4: It. Okay. His third hot take hot take the Patriots
- 1:25:37Speaker 4: offensive line will be a top sixteen line with three
- 1:25:41Speaker 4: rookies starting on it by the end of the season, Campbell,
- 1:25:44Speaker 4: Jared Wilson, and Marcus Bryant.
- 1:25:47Speaker 5: I can't argue this because I can't rank offensive lines.
- 1:25:52Speaker 4: But what they do they do get ranked in last year.
- 1:25:56Speaker 4: You may you have no problem saying that they were
- 1:25:59Speaker 4: the worst line last year.
- 1:26:01Speaker 5: They were thirty first.
- 1:26:02Speaker 4: Okay, So but.
- 1:26:04Speaker 5: I don't do the rank and I don't I don't say,
- 1:26:06Speaker 5: I don't say the defensive line.
- 1:26:08Speaker 4: But do you think for those who think it will
- 1:26:10Speaker 4: be that good?
- 1:26:11Speaker 5: Okay, you don't think there'll be the top half offensive line.
- 1:26:14Speaker 4: Right, That's all you have to say.
- 1:26:16Speaker 5: But I can't rank it. Other people do, right, someone will,
- 1:26:20Speaker 5: and I won't agree with it if they're in the
- 1:26:22Speaker 5: top half.
- 1:26:23Speaker 4: Unless he's already setting it up.
- 1:26:25Speaker 5: Unless something happens that I don't.
- 1:26:27Speaker 4: But you agree with the thirty one.
- 1:26:28Speaker 5: Vision because they were a bottom half. Okay, watched it, So.
- 1:26:32Speaker 6: Wait a minute, that's not a bottom half. That's the
- 1:26:34Speaker 6: bottom that's barrel.
- 1:26:35Speaker 5: I could watch them and say that I don't see
- 1:26:37Speaker 5: too many offensive lines that are as bad as that, right,
- 1:26:40Speaker 5: So if they if they get rid, I couldn't tell
- 1:26:42Speaker 5: you if they were thirty first or twentieth. That's a
- 1:26:46Speaker 5: big gap, I know.
- 1:26:47Speaker 4: But but you don't disagree with the thirty one ranking
- 1:26:51Speaker 4: last year, and you're automatically saying you're gonna just if
- 1:26:54Speaker 4: someone ranks them to disagree with that.
- 1:26:57Speaker 5: I'm gonna, you know, just to go just to make
- 1:26:59Speaker 5: you feel better, I'm gonna go to something.
- 1:27:01Speaker 4: TIS just said.
- 1:27:02Speaker 5: I disagree that Cooper is thirty slots higher than Christian Gonzales.
- 1:27:07Speaker 5: Ok someone ranked it. Okay, so I'm just supposed to
- 1:27:11Speaker 5: have the rankings. I think that I know better. You're
- 1:27:14Speaker 5: already disagreeing with something that hasn't happened, you know. I'm saying,
- 1:27:17Speaker 5: unless something dramatically changes based on what well something would
- 1:27:21Speaker 5: have had for fifteen days of training camp, they're not
- 1:27:24Speaker 5: going to have a top half offensive.
- 1:27:25Speaker 4: Okay, no, but like let's wait and see.
- 1:27:29Speaker 5: I think if they obviously we can't say it.
- 1:27:31Speaker 4: If they get ranked in the top half, something good
- 1:27:33Speaker 4: will have had to have half.
- 1:27:34Speaker 5: But I'm just saying you can't. That's such a subjective thing.
- 1:27:38Speaker 5: I well, so like one hundred and twenty catches for
- 1:27:41Speaker 5: sixteen hundred, that's not subjective. That's stats. That's numbers. I
- 1:27:44Speaker 5: can say. I don't think he's gonna achieve those numbers, right,
- 1:27:47Speaker 5: do you know what I mean? Yeah, I don't feel
- 1:27:49Speaker 5: like I don't someone might see this offensive line being
- 1:27:53Speaker 5: fifteen spots better than someone else might see it totally.
- 1:27:55Speaker 4: I'm just talking about the ones that the major ranking
- 1:27:59Speaker 4: companies they you know, PFF and all those. If they
- 1:28:03Speaker 4: say that they're the top half, I'll be like, if
- 1:28:06Speaker 4: that happens, something, they must have played better, right.
- 1:28:11Speaker 5: Oh, I think they'll put they'll be better than they
- 1:28:12Speaker 5: were last year. There's no the offensive line is better
- 1:28:17Speaker 5: right now than it was last year.
- 1:28:19Speaker 4: Ye.
- 1:28:19Speaker 5: No, I don't think there's anybody that would argue against that,
- 1:28:21Speaker 5: except for Andy Hart Elfham, Wisconsin arguing with every Day
- 1:28:26Speaker 5: a Training Camp about this.
- 1:28:28Speaker 4: Elfham, Wisconsin says so on a recent episode, Paul suggested
- 1:28:31Speaker 4: we try to stump him on Patriots Trivia. Here's my attempt.
- 1:28:34Speaker 4: Who wore number seventy seven last year?
- 1:28:37Speaker 5: Ben Brown? But that's a good that's a very good question,
- 1:28:40Speaker 5: because that's how you get me something that just happened.
- 1:28:43Speaker 5: He obviously listens to the show.
- 1:28:47Speaker 6: You just made that joke earlier.
- 1:28:49Speaker 5: If it was seventy seven, like in nineteen seventy seven.
- 1:28:52Speaker 5: I well, although I don't know who number seventy seven
- 1:28:54Speaker 5: wasn't seventy seven?
- 1:28:56Speaker 6: Well, thoughts came in and they were talking about something
- 1:28:58Speaker 6: that happened in the two I was in season, and
- 1:29:01Speaker 6: your recall is just snap of a finger, and then
- 1:29:04Speaker 6: you're like, yeah, but I don't remember what.
- 1:29:07Speaker 5: A shock man.
- 1:29:08Speaker 4: Davis Sean is back on the line from Vancouver. What's up, Sean?
- 1:29:17Speaker 14: Yeah, sorry about that. The phone connection was bad. But
- 1:29:20Speaker 14: I have a few things with the offensive line, like
- 1:29:23Speaker 14: I can guarantee it even though they haven't played one game,
- 1:29:27Speaker 14: but even if they're ranked laugh in the NFL, they'll
- 1:29:30Speaker 14: still be a lot better than the last year. I've
- 1:29:32Speaker 14: never seen anything that terrible as the offensive line play.
- 1:29:36Speaker 5: Of I don't think I said a lot better. They'll
- 1:29:40Speaker 5: be better.
- 1:29:42Speaker 13: They'll be better.
- 1:29:42Speaker 14: I guarantee that. I just want to answer your question
- 1:29:48Speaker 14: about Canada. I've been to several McDonald's in this country,
- 1:29:52Speaker 14: across the country, and the services are fine, the food
- 1:29:55Speaker 14: the same. I mean, some are obviously teedier than others,
- 1:29:59Speaker 14: but it's generally uniform. However, the worst McDonald's i've ever
- 1:30:05Speaker 14: been to is not in the og Portland, but in Portland,
- 1:30:09Speaker 14: Oregon because anything you know on the West coast, they
- 1:30:11Speaker 14: won't understand this, but if you're first, you're og. So
- 1:30:15Speaker 14: in Portland, Oregon, I went at ten am on a
- 1:30:17Speaker 14: Monday and the whole front was closed, like the dining
- 1:30:21Speaker 14: room just closed. You can't get in no reason. Just
- 1:30:24Speaker 14: the drive through is working. You walk up, there's a
- 1:30:27Speaker 14: guy like serving the drive There's a big line. You
- 1:30:29Speaker 14: have to wait for him to go to like five cars.
- 1:30:31Speaker 14: There's no menu there. You ask him how much is
- 1:30:34Speaker 14: like an eg mcmupp and he's like expensive?
- 1:30:36Speaker 5: What is that?
- 1:30:37Speaker 14: Fice?
- 1:30:38Speaker 5: Guy?
- 1:30:38Speaker 14: You know it is the worst service ever. Just don't
- 1:30:41Speaker 14: go to that that McDonald's. Did you ever happen to
- 1:30:43Speaker 14: be in Portland? Organ? And Hey, just want to let
- 1:30:46Speaker 14: everyone know I'm going to be in New England for
- 1:30:49Speaker 14: the first game. I'll be there at the home opener.
- 1:30:51Speaker 14: My buddy from Australia, Jared, is going to join me.
- 1:30:55Speaker 14: So we're looking forward to that. Go Pats and I'll
- 1:30:57Speaker 14: take it off like.
- 1:30:58Speaker 4: Okay, thanks, it's fun. You know what I think is
- 1:31:01Speaker 4: the worst sonic I've only had one. It's terrible. I
- 1:31:05Speaker 4: couldn't even figure out how to order, don't.
- 1:31:07Speaker 5: I don't love Sonic either. I agree with you, Freddy.
- 1:31:11Speaker 7: Once I saw like the oil bubbling off the chicken.
- 1:31:13Speaker 6: Tender shakes there.
- 1:31:15Speaker 5: They do have good shakes, but I agree with your
- 1:31:18Speaker 5: overall that when they put a Sonic on Root one
- 1:31:22Speaker 5: and it was like this big, big thing, everybody was
- 1:31:24Speaker 5: so excited about it. There was like traffic backed up
- 1:31:27Speaker 5: onto Route one and I was like, what am I missing?
- 1:31:31Speaker 5: And I went and had it, and I was like.
- 1:31:33Speaker 4: The fact that they keep having to add stuff to
- 1:31:36Speaker 4: their menu, right. Daniel reminds everybody that I've been saying
- 1:31:44Speaker 4: it would seventy yard field goal would happen soon enough.
- 1:31:48Speaker 4: But he thinks, He asked, does it count your eyes
- 1:31:50Speaker 4: that it happened in pre season? Well, it doesn't count
- 1:31:55Speaker 4: in terms of the record, but it counts in terms
- 1:31:57Speaker 4: of proving the ability that they do it.
- 1:32:00Speaker 5: I would say, count your prediction counts.
- 1:32:03Speaker 4: Yeah, absolutely, say so. We now know it can be
- 1:32:06Speaker 4: done and it'll.
- 1:32:09Speaker 5: It doesn't count, It doesn't count, but it matters.
- 1:32:14Speaker 4: And Phil Perry's Phil Phil Perry said.
- 1:32:17Speaker 6: That Phil Perry slash Dan roch.
- 1:32:22Speaker 4: Cody writes in On One of Paul's shows. I believe
- 1:32:26Speaker 4: the host mentioned that the kick return touchdown by Henderson
- 1:32:29Speaker 4: on the first play was a good omen, and I'd agree.
- 1:32:32Speaker 4: For the most part, the team showed effort finish in
- 1:32:35Speaker 4: a level of play I haven't seen it a while,
- 1:32:37Speaker 4: and I enjoyed seeing all the players contribute. While everything
- 1:32:41Speaker 4: seems to be going well, the recent string of injuries
- 1:32:44Speaker 4: has dampened my excitement a little. Do you guys think
- 1:32:47Speaker 4: that the heightened level of physicality and effort during this
- 1:32:50Speaker 4: summer has worn down the players or is this just
- 1:32:53Speaker 4: football and sometimes they have bad luck. Let me tell
- 1:32:56Speaker 4: you something the Patriots have not as had bad luck,
- 1:33:00Speaker 4: is that other teams have already had or they have
- 1:33:02Speaker 4: had in the past injury. We just got to remember
- 1:33:06Speaker 4: every year this happened. Players get injured every year.
- 1:33:09Speaker 5: And I don't think it's been an overly physical camp now.
- 1:33:12Speaker 5: I do think everything he said about the game Friday night,
- 1:33:14Speaker 5: I would wholeheartedly agree with. They played with some physicality,
- 1:33:18Speaker 5: some energy and toughness, and I think the message was
- 1:33:22Speaker 5: finished yep. And I think it was clear the way
- 1:33:25Speaker 5: everybody treated the ball, every ball carrier from ramondre Stevenson,
- 1:33:31Speaker 5: you know and Terrell Jennings, bigger guys, and all those
- 1:33:34Speaker 5: guys down to Traveon Henderson and Efton Chisholm, who aren't
- 1:33:38Speaker 5: the biggest guys out there were lowering their shoulders and
- 1:33:41Speaker 5: finishing runs and the pile was moving forward whoever had
- 1:33:45Speaker 5: the ball. That was clearly something that was coached that
- 1:33:48Speaker 5: that's what they wanted to see. So they were very
- 1:33:50Speaker 5: physical in the game Friday night. But I don't think
- 1:33:52Speaker 5: that they've been overly physical at practice every day. And
- 1:33:56Speaker 5: you know, in terms of leading to injuries, I don't
- 1:33:58Speaker 5: think that's part of it.
- 1:34:00Speaker 7: Unlou No, I've been out there. It hasn't been too bad.
- 1:34:03Speaker 7: But you look around the league, like Fred said, like
- 1:34:05Speaker 7: I think it was the Chargers tackle Slater uh Dickerson
- 1:34:08Speaker 7: on the Eagles, like their legs just kind of collapsed
- 1:34:10Speaker 7: on them.
- 1:34:11Speaker 5: Like major injuries to major players.
- 1:34:13Speaker 4: This is football, Unfortunately.
- 1:34:15Speaker 7: Yeah, it happens, and it's tough, but it's just I
- 1:34:18Speaker 7: don't think it's been too bad on our end here no.
- 1:34:22Speaker 4: Knock on wood uh V from Pittsburgh says, did Fred,
- 1:34:25Speaker 4: like Frank from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia get diagnosed
- 1:34:28Speaker 4: with Donkey brains when he was younger, not donkey, I
- 1:34:32Speaker 4: had been called an ass so does that count by me?
- 1:34:35Speaker 4: That's not nice though, all right?
- 1:34:37Speaker 5: But I would also say some of the injuries the
- 1:34:39Speaker 5: Patriots have had so far, like Gonzo, I think Carlton David,
- 1:34:43Speaker 5: you know, kind of soft tissue injuries really not physical.
- 1:34:47Speaker 5: It's muscle injury.
- 1:34:49Speaker 6: Right, you know what I mean?
- 1:34:50Speaker 7: It was the only he a.
- 1:34:52Speaker 5: Cl But like Rashaan Slater ruptured his but teller tendon. Yeah,
- 1:34:57Speaker 5: that's a physical injury, you know, something that's happen in
- 1:35:00Speaker 5: the course of I assume this course of blocking. Right,
- 1:35:03Speaker 5: what did you says?
- 1:35:04Speaker 7: Like his leg just going Yeah, he was just going
- 1:35:06Speaker 7: back in the past protection and just kind of collapsed
- 1:35:08Speaker 7: on him. Similar with Dickerson, yep Adam and Louisiana about
- 1:35:13Speaker 7: that your top one hundred list tis both Eagles corners
- 1:35:18Speaker 7: are rated higher than Christian Gonzales at eighty four, Dijon sixty,
- 1:35:21Speaker 7: Kenyon Mitchell is forty nine.
- 1:35:23Speaker 4: That's how I know the list is a joke.
- 1:35:25Speaker 5: There we go. But that's generally what I think of
- 1:35:28Speaker 5: those kinds of rankings, so I stay consistent.
- 1:35:32Speaker 4: One of them.
- 1:35:33Speaker 5: I disagreed with that Patriot is too low, you know
- 1:35:35Speaker 5: what I mean. Maybe there'd be one that I think
- 1:35:37Speaker 5: the Patriots are too high, and I would say that
- 1:35:40Speaker 5: just from what I've seen. If the Patriots offensive line
- 1:35:43Speaker 5: is listed in the top half of the league, I'd
- 1:35:45Speaker 5: say that's too high, all right. But they will be better.
- 1:35:51Speaker 5: They will be better than last year.
- 1:35:53Speaker 4: And Will Campbell's going to be.
- 1:35:55Speaker 5: He's better than He's better than Vederian Loan and that's
- 1:35:58Speaker 5: the guy he's replacing.
- 1:36:00Speaker 4: Will Marcus Brian be a starter by the end of
- 1:36:02Speaker 4: the year.
- 1:36:03Speaker 5: I think he has a chance to be.
- 1:36:04Speaker 4: Yeah. I think whether he beats him out or in.
- 1:36:08Speaker 6: Well, that's what I was going to say. Would it
- 1:36:10Speaker 6: be because of his player because next man up?
- 1:36:12Speaker 4: Yeah? The second thing Rick Lawson writes, and it occurs
- 1:36:17Speaker 4: to me that in twenty twenty five, there may not
- 1:36:19Speaker 4: be one player from the twenty twenty four draft class.
- 1:36:22Speaker 4: May exclude it in a Patriots uniform. May was a
- 1:36:26Speaker 4: layup because we were taking one of the top three quarterbacks.
- 1:36:28Speaker 4: But the rest of the draft is pretty bad. Baker
- 1:36:31Speaker 4: has a shot, but even that is is as a
- 1:36:34Speaker 4: special team or six receiver. Dile has an injury, but
- 1:36:37Speaker 4: the rest Wow, Cayden Wallace will be on it tame.
- 1:36:39Speaker 4: It is a credit to Vrabel and the new personnel
- 1:36:42Speaker 4: staff that the Patriots look competitive considering last year's horrible draft.
- 1:36:49Speaker 5: I think Cayden Wallace will still be I mean, it
- 1:36:50Speaker 5: doesn't take away from the email. It was not a
- 1:36:53Speaker 5: great draft, but I think Wallace will be here in.
- 1:36:57Speaker 6: Certain to Mario year year year before time.
- 1:37:00Speaker 5: Certainly Dial, I think we had a good opportunity to
- 1:37:05Speaker 5: be part of the secondary too.
- 1:37:06Speaker 7: So it's just tough with Polk especially just yeah.
- 1:37:09Speaker 5: Polk and Baker obviously disappointments. And Laydon Robinson has been
- 1:37:15Speaker 5: with like the third group all summer, so I don't
- 1:37:18Speaker 5: think that he has I think he has a roster
- 1:37:21Speaker 5: spot right now.
- 1:37:22Speaker 4: Speaking of Layton Robinson, Josh and England writes in he
- 1:37:26Speaker 4: has a question about Laydon Robinson and City, So I
- 1:37:29Speaker 4: would have thought they would have been more natural fits
- 1:37:31Speaker 4: in McDaniel's offense with more gap scheme as downhill blocking
- 1:37:35Speaker 4: with something Robinson in particular was praise for last season
- 1:37:38Speaker 4: at times, but it seems that he is on the
- 1:37:40Speaker 4: outside looking in and doesn't really get mentioned much in breakdowns.
- 1:37:44Speaker 4: The same applies somewhat to City So. It seemed as
- 1:37:47Speaker 4: if they were awkward fits last year, but this year
- 1:37:50Speaker 4: they should have been better. Have they shown much to
- 1:37:52Speaker 4: crack the roster. So's hurt a little bit, right, He's.
- 1:37:55Speaker 5: Been out there too. He's been out there the last
- 1:37:57Speaker 5: few days. He missed a couple of days of practice.
- 1:37:59Speaker 5: But yeah, those two guys have been in the third
- 1:38:01Speaker 5: team for the most part. Leyden Robinson has been the
- 1:38:05Speaker 5: third team every day. So I'd have to go back
- 1:38:07Speaker 5: and look and see if he's been with the twos
- 1:38:09Speaker 5: that I missed, but I think it's been Strange and
- 1:38:14Speaker 5: Brown and maybe So was the right guard with that group.
- 1:38:19Speaker 5: Although Strange has been playing right guard with the twos
- 1:38:21Speaker 5: the last few days because I think they're trying to
- 1:38:24Speaker 5: see if Ben Brown can play guard as well as center.
- 1:38:28Speaker 5: So those are the guys that have been out there.
- 1:38:31Speaker 5: Kyden Wallace is now at guard. Yeah, so Cityso has
- 1:38:33Speaker 5: been with the threes with Robinson too. It's been Wallace, Brown,
- 1:38:37Speaker 5: Strange at the interior. Three guys with the second group.
- 1:38:40Speaker 4: Yep, No in Toronto. I was looking at our schedule
- 1:38:44Speaker 4: the other day and I think there's a real chance
- 1:38:45Speaker 4: we could double our win total from last year solely
- 1:38:49Speaker 4: by beating teams without respected quarterbacks. How would you feel
- 1:38:53Speaker 4: about the season if we did that?
- 1:38:55Speaker 5: I want to see how they do it. Yeah, Like,
- 1:38:57Speaker 5: do you win forty eight to eighteen when you play
- 1:38:59Speaker 5: those teams? I feel pretty good about it. Do you
- 1:39:02Speaker 5: win thirteen to ten? I don't feel great about it.
- 1:39:05Speaker 5: Now win's a win. Yeah, So bottom line is you
- 1:39:08Speaker 5: just need to win the games. Doesn't matter. But I'd
- 1:39:10Speaker 5: feel better with the first scenario. But I totally agree
- 1:39:13Speaker 5: with him that I think they easily could double their
- 1:39:16Speaker 5: win total.
- 1:39:16Speaker 6: And if you get to that point, you're taking advantage
- 1:39:19Speaker 6: of bad football. Reebel step one right.
- 1:39:22Speaker 5: Yep.
- 1:39:24Speaker 4: Mark and Cheddar. I agree that preseason stats shouldn't count.
- 1:39:28Speaker 4: It is in proper competition and therefore nothing should count. However,
- 1:39:32Speaker 4: I do think that postseason stats should count. I hate
- 1:39:36Speaker 4: when there is some announcers stating some stupid SI stat
- 1:39:39Speaker 4: the regular season about this is the first time that
- 1:39:41Speaker 4: blah blah blah has ever happened, and everyone is going, yeah,
- 1:39:44Speaker 4: accept it. For the AFC Championship game the other year.
- 1:39:49Speaker 5: I think they're separate. Well, do keep track of postseason records,
- 1:39:54Speaker 5: but I think they should be separate. Why because they
- 1:39:57Speaker 5: happen in the postseason, so obviously, Hi, games that count, Yeah,
- 1:40:01Speaker 5: they're higher stakes and everything.
- 1:40:03Speaker 4: Well, sometimes the seventeenth game in a season could have
- 1:40:06Speaker 4: higher stakes in the first game. Those stats count differently,
- 1:40:09Speaker 4: what did what should the stakes matter and whether or
- 1:40:12Speaker 4: not the stats count, I don't know.
- 1:40:15Speaker 5: I think part of it is like okaying, I think
- 1:40:16Speaker 5: playoff games are more important than regular seasons.
- 1:40:18Speaker 4: They are.
- 1:40:19Speaker 5: I don't really think it's all that controversial.
- 1:40:22Speaker 6: Well, regular season games, every team has the same amount.
- 1:40:25Speaker 6: So if you have like a generational running back who's
- 1:40:28Speaker 6: amazing and is clearly the best running back in the
- 1:40:30Speaker 6: league due to regular season stats, but he doesn't have
- 1:40:33Speaker 6: the same body of work in the postseason because his
- 1:40:36Speaker 6: team doesn't make it that far, it's hard to well.
- 1:40:38Speaker 4: Compare cumulative stats, you know, like but like career and
- 1:40:43Speaker 4: all that stuff. But when it comes to individual, you know,
- 1:40:47Speaker 4: game stats, like there should be one record for most
- 1:40:51Speaker 4: touchdowns in the game, and I don't care if that's
- 1:40:53Speaker 4: postseason or regular.
- 1:40:54Speaker 5: That for sure. To convince me of that, I think
- 1:40:56Speaker 5: they're separate.
- 1:40:58Speaker 6: It just depends on the context that you're pulling the
- 1:41:01Speaker 6: numbers in for, you know, like, I don't know. You
- 1:41:05Speaker 6: can cherry pick any stat you want to fit an
- 1:41:07Speaker 6: argument or Yeah.
- 1:41:09Speaker 5: I think Fred's point is if someone would have set
- 1:41:11Speaker 5: the all time single game rushing record or passing record
- 1:41:15Speaker 5: in a postseason game, that should be the record.
- 1:41:17Speaker 6: Yeah, definitely, but you still need to keep them I
- 1:41:20Speaker 6: think separate for the point I was making. Yeah, great player,
- 1:41:25Speaker 6: not a good.
- 1:41:26Speaker 4: He had more opportunities because he was on great team.
- 1:41:29Speaker 4: Exactly so, But all right, m Patrick, missus Eric. Hearing
- 1:41:40Speaker 4: his weirdness during those lunch flashbacks brought me back to
- 1:41:43Speaker 4: all of his awkwardness and secrecy. I used to think
- 1:41:46Speaker 4: he wasn't really this way and would play it up
- 1:41:48Speaker 4: for the radio, But having listened to the show for
- 1:41:50Speaker 4: over a decade, I realized he's just playing different. Evan
- 1:41:54Speaker 4: has a bit of it, but not like Eric.
- 1:41:57Speaker 5: Evan just closed off unless you're talking about exits.
- 1:42:00Speaker 4: Right right. He's very private in general.
- 1:42:05Speaker 5: He won't play in Reindeer game.
- 1:42:06Speaker 4: I just don't think he's got a lot going on
- 1:42:08Speaker 4: except for.
- 1:42:10Speaker 6: His interests and his wife.
- 1:42:12Speaker 4: Different. He would want you to believe he's got a
- 1:42:15Speaker 4: lot going on. He's never had a boring day in
- 1:42:18Speaker 4: his life. His words, his words.
- 1:42:22Speaker 7: In his life.
- 1:42:23Speaker 5: He did chastise me during COVID when I said I
- 1:42:25Speaker 5: was bored all the time?
- 1:42:26Speaker 4: Right, Why how can you be bored.
- 1:42:28Speaker 5: During COVID when there was nothing to do? You couldn't
- 1:42:30Speaker 5: go out? I was like bored.
- 1:42:31Speaker 6: You didn't teach yourself how to play piano?
- 1:42:33Speaker 7: Or I watched like get three years Glory.
- 1:42:39Speaker 5: Did you catch what she just said? Did you teach
- 1:42:41Speaker 5: yourself to play piano?
- 1:42:43Speaker 4: No, but that's the point I watched.
- 1:42:45Speaker 6: You didn't learn two languages? No, you could be fluent
- 1:42:49Speaker 6: in Spanish right now?
- 1:42:50Speaker 4: Well I could.
- 1:42:51Speaker 5: I could get by fluent.
- 1:42:54Speaker 7: Do you think Eric has watched the single Patriots game since?
- 1:42:57Speaker 4: I think you Chris traumatized him.
- 1:42:59Speaker 5: I made the comment at the time to Fred on
- 1:43:02Speaker 5: the air when we came in and we had signed
- 1:43:06Speaker 5: Cam Newton. I wasn't convinced that Eric had known that
- 1:43:10Speaker 5: we had signed Cam Newton because it kind of happened,
- 1:43:12Speaker 5: you know, in that dark time when no one was around.
- 1:43:17Speaker 5: I do still watch the news that elicited that response.
- 1:43:22Speaker 4: You remember, it was so easy, talk about gaslighting.
- 1:43:32Speaker 6: Nothing better than you guys making him play the piano.
- 1:43:35Speaker 5: And then he So this is Fred did not make
- 1:43:41Speaker 5: him play the piano. He insisted that he knew how
- 1:43:44Speaker 5: to play it, was a classically trained pianist, and we
- 1:43:48Speaker 5: were like, oh, okay, well why don't we do it?
- 1:43:50Speaker 4: Then?
- 1:43:51Speaker 5: That wasn't like you you were trying to set him
- 1:43:53Speaker 5: up to fail.
- 1:43:54Speaker 4: He told us.
- 1:43:55Speaker 5: That he had an ability that he clearly didn't have.
- 1:44:00Speaker 6: Pseudo intellectual.
- 1:44:04Speaker 4: And it's not like you have to tune up an
- 1:44:06Speaker 4: electric piano, you know.
- 1:44:07Speaker 5: No, do you remember Jamie McGibbon, Yeah, he just comes
- 1:44:10Speaker 5: in the bank like Bill Joel.
- 1:44:14Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, oh god, that's funny.
- 1:44:17Speaker 6: All he had to know was like a couple of chords.
- 1:44:21Speaker 5: Right, play chopsticks?
- 1:44:23Speaker 6: Yeaheah, Twinkle Twinkle little Star, like that's so easy.
- 1:44:26Speaker 4: Oh my god, I.
- 1:44:28Speaker 18: Have no formal artistic training.
- 1:44:31Speaker 4: You get that, all right? Documentary I haven't yet. I'm
- 1:44:37Speaker 4: going I want to, though, I might watch it on
- 1:44:40Speaker 4: the plane going to Minnesotas.
- 1:44:41Speaker 5: Are too young. You don't care about Billy Joel, Right.
- 1:44:43Speaker 6: Of course I do.
- 1:44:44Speaker 5: Did you watch it?
- 1:44:45Speaker 6: No?
- 1:44:47Speaker 4: Downloaded the soundtrack to one hundred and fifty songs.
- 1:44:50Speaker 6: I will watch it.
- 1:44:52Speaker 2: Get around, I will say it's the soundtrack for the documentary.
- 1:44:56Speaker 5: Wow. So they have all they play all the songs
- 1:44:59Speaker 5: in their entire that they Oh, yeah, it's it's worth watching.
- 1:45:06Speaker 5: If you like Billy Joel, I will say it's it's
- 1:45:08Speaker 5: too long. The first part especially, is like to like
- 1:45:13Speaker 5: two and a half hour.
- 1:45:13Speaker 6: Is it broken up into episodes?
- 1:45:16Speaker 5: The first one is twice as long as the second part.
- 1:45:21Speaker 5: It's good, it's not great. It's not great. I would
- 1:45:25Speaker 5: say when you do the documentaries and stuff like that
- 1:45:29Speaker 5: and everybody runs into these problems, you kind of have
- 1:45:31Speaker 5: a choice to make, like how objective do I want
- 1:45:33Speaker 5: to be and how much access do I want to get?
- 1:45:36Speaker 5: They chose the access, so it's through the eyes of yeah,
- 1:45:40Speaker 5: and I like Billy Joel, so I was okay with it.
- 1:45:43Speaker 5: But they definitely gloss over some of the doctor periods
- 1:45:46Speaker 5: of Billy Joel's life and some of the things that
- 1:45:48Speaker 5: he maybe have had done wrong.
- 1:45:51Speaker 4: Having to do with women, mostly.
- 1:45:53Speaker 5: Well, first one, it's huge, like he basically steals his
- 1:45:56Speaker 5: best friend's wife.
- 1:46:00Speaker 7: Maybe that what was not.
- 1:46:02Speaker 5: But I mean I think it's pretty clear that you know,
- 1:46:06Speaker 5: during his career he had problems with alcohol, and it's
- 1:46:10Speaker 5: just kind of like, yeah, I don't know, like are
- 1:46:12Speaker 5: we really talking about this or not, Like, yeah, he
- 1:46:15Speaker 5: and Elton John had to think his Obviously Elton John
- 1:46:17Speaker 5: had famous battles with substance problems and they sort of
- 1:46:21Speaker 5: had a falling out because of the erratic behavior due
- 1:46:25Speaker 5: to the drinking.
- 1:46:26Speaker 4: And it's it's kind of like because the duos together.
- 1:46:29Speaker 5: Yeah, they did a lot of concerts. They did one here.
- 1:46:31Speaker 5: I think, oh, that's right now, John, you probably you
- 1:46:34Speaker 5: probably didn't edit that night because you went out to
- 1:46:35Speaker 5: the concert me and and he had to staying at work.
- 1:46:38Speaker 5: I've never seen was that just the police at Fenway,
- 1:46:41Speaker 5: just the.
- 1:46:41Speaker 4: Police of fend uh Chester's in Portland. What's up Chester, Hey.
- 1:46:48Speaker 13: What's up guys? Awesome fans coverage so far as it's
- 1:46:52Speaker 13: been such an exciting off season to get things back
- 1:46:55Speaker 13: and ramps up, and from last time I called it,
- 1:46:58Speaker 13: you know, they've got to kill some optimism. I feel
- 1:47:00Speaker 13: like that is just overly present right now. You know,
- 1:47:03Speaker 13: I don't care what the score was on Friday, but
- 1:47:05Speaker 13: the Hits factor in the crowd was back. You know.
- 1:47:07Speaker 13: I felt like the team was in and out of
- 1:47:08Speaker 13: the huddle nicely.
- 1:47:10Speaker 4: You know.
- 1:47:10Speaker 13: I think one thing I haven't really heard about Romando
- 1:47:12Speaker 13: Stevenson just looked thinner and faster.
- 1:47:15Speaker 10: He cut rates.
- 1:47:16Speaker 13: It's even being better shaped because he looks fast. He
- 1:47:19Speaker 13: looked different. He was just you know, moving into that
- 1:47:22Speaker 13: second level. A lot bicker, but definitely that was a
- 1:47:25Speaker 13: takeaway is that he looks like he's got a spring
- 1:47:27Speaker 13: back in his steps, which is exciting. You know, I'm
- 1:47:30Speaker 13: just turning. I'm concerned, just you know, just the straight
- 1:47:32Speaker 13: thing is going to make or break our year. There's
- 1:47:34Speaker 13: been so much positive momentum Exlamps, but you know, the suping,
- 1:47:37Speaker 13: the fake. I just really hope that Brave the Stakes
- 1:47:39Speaker 13: got out of him, uhcause I feel like our fate
- 1:47:41Speaker 13: is really in his hands. Specifically, oh Line showing a
- 1:47:45Speaker 13: ton of promise, and that's fantastic too, But just overall,
- 1:47:48Speaker 13: it's just really exciting to see some steps forward. And
- 1:47:52Speaker 13: that's all I got. It's good to be back in touch.
- 1:47:53Speaker 4: Guys, all right by apparel, Thanks Chester.
- 1:47:56Speaker 5: I'm on board with Chester. I think Stevens does look thinner,
- 1:47:59Speaker 5: and I mean I always say this, the skill guys
- 1:48:01Speaker 5: look faster at this time of year every year.
- 1:48:03Speaker 4: It also looks better when you're not getting hit in
- 1:48:05Speaker 4: the backfield, right, But.
- 1:48:06Speaker 5: I mean I thought he looked fast and fresh on
- 1:48:08Speaker 5: opening day against Cincinnati when he had a drag tacklers
- 1:48:11Speaker 5: for like one hundred and twenty yards, right. And by
- 1:48:12Speaker 5: the time you get to like week five, it's a
- 1:48:14Speaker 5: little harder to look fast, right, you know when that's
- 1:48:17Speaker 5: happening all the time.
- 1:48:18Speaker 4: Matthew and Arizona, we will have eight wins because of
- 1:48:21Speaker 4: the poster in the media room I saw for Mike
- 1:48:23Speaker 4: Reese's photo of Rabel in his first postgame interview versus
- 1:48:27Speaker 4: the Commanders on X effort and finish, bald, security and disruption, details,
- 1:48:32Speaker 4: technique and fundamentals, make great decisions. Did you see that poster?
- 1:48:36Speaker 4: I didn't had that. Yeah, yeah, So what do you
- 1:48:43Speaker 4: think you like those posters, like the motivational posters, the
- 1:48:46Speaker 4: word art. You have one in your room that says,
- 1:48:48Speaker 4: hang in there, kiddy.
- 1:48:48Speaker 6: Live, laugh, love, live laflove. Yeah, I don't. I'm against
- 1:48:53Speaker 6: word art in the home setting, I don't need to
- 1:48:55Speaker 6: be told like pantry, kitchen, gather, But here I like
- 1:49:00Speaker 6: I hate those.
- 1:49:02Speaker 7: I hate.
- 1:49:05Speaker 4: My kitchen, my rules. Yeah, I hate those little.
- 1:49:11Speaker 6: That's an apron. It's not word ar the live laugh
- 1:49:15Speaker 6: love stuff. Who No, But in the auditorium. My girl,
- 1:49:22Speaker 6: she's out in the auditorium.
- 1:49:24Speaker 12: I don't know.
- 1:49:25Speaker 6: I thought it was kind of cool that we walked in.
- 1:49:28Speaker 4: It was like, really talking about people's homes when you
- 1:49:32Speaker 4: have that.
- 1:49:33Speaker 7: Not to new you like it?
- 1:49:35Speaker 5: I haven't seen it.
- 1:49:35Speaker 6: I don't know you've never I was kind of surprised
- 1:49:38Speaker 6: to see it.
- 1:49:39Speaker 5: But I guess why I came here.
- 1:49:42Speaker 4: I'm talking about the locker roo. I'm talking about people's homes.
- 1:49:45Speaker 5: Oh no, no, no, no, no, no, I'm sorry. I thought
- 1:49:47Speaker 5: we were talking about this specific.
- 1:49:48Speaker 4: I don't care about the locker I'm talking about.
- 1:49:49Speaker 5: Okay, Well I thought we're talking about something different.
- 1:49:51Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:49:51Speaker 4: No, I'm not a huge fan of that stuff.
- 1:49:53Speaker 5: I mean i'm not. I'm not as opposed to what
- 1:49:55Speaker 5: is out obviously. No, she's a bit triggered.
- 1:50:00Speaker 4: You make your house look like Cracker Bear, But no
- 1:50:02Speaker 4: I don't.
- 1:50:03Speaker 6: Yeah, like, why does my salt shaker need to say
- 1:50:05Speaker 6: salt on it?
- 1:50:06Speaker 4: You know?
- 1:50:06Speaker 5: Right? No, I don't have a lot of that.
- 1:50:10Speaker 7: But I like the new Vabel poster.
- 1:50:11Speaker 4: Yes, that's pretty cool, Okay, mission, I guess they had
- 1:50:16Speaker 4: this huge mural last year.
- 1:50:19Speaker 5: Yes, that's gone.
- 1:50:20Speaker 4: It's in the back storage area.
- 1:50:23Speaker 6: Up there, it's away.
- 1:50:26Speaker 4: Well, I remember cut up into sections trivia give way.
- 1:50:32Speaker 6: Yeah, well, I remember how much of a big deal
- 1:50:35Speaker 6: it was last year when certain things were coming off
- 1:50:39Speaker 6: the walls and that stuff was going up all the
- 1:50:41Speaker 6: motivational quotes.
- 1:50:44Speaker 4: Right, that's what is your north star?
- 1:50:48Speaker 19: Hmmm.
- 1:50:48Speaker 6: I've never been asked that's the.
- 1:50:50Speaker 5: Kind of stuff I find. I don't know. Maybe it's
- 1:50:53Speaker 5: just generational for you and I, Frid, Do I really
- 1:50:57Speaker 5: need I need to look at something that inspires me
- 1:50:59Speaker 5: every day? Can I just like, have you know, pride
- 1:51:02Speaker 5: in my.
- 1:51:02Speaker 4: Work, play like a champion today, Paul, I do it
- 1:51:05Speaker 4: every time.
- 1:51:06Speaker 6: I believe bigger than me. Oh, that might have been
- 1:51:11Speaker 6: the last sharp.
- 1:51:12Speaker 5: And you know, when I knew Joe Judge was going
- 1:51:14Speaker 5: to fail.
- 1:51:14Speaker 6: Shot z iron take a shot. Every time you hear
- 1:51:17Speaker 6: that phrase.
- 1:51:19Speaker 5: You know when I knew Joe Judge was going to
- 1:51:20Speaker 5: fail as the Giants head coach, when when he said
- 1:51:22Speaker 5: that the name on the front of the jersey more.
- 1:51:25Speaker 6: Than the name on the back.
- 1:51:27Speaker 4: Wow, that is profound. That's profound. Jeff in Canada rites
- 1:51:33Speaker 4: in Earlier in the show, Paul said he is nowhere
- 1:51:36Speaker 4: near ready to say Will Campbell is a sure fire
- 1:51:39Speaker 4: NFL tackle left tackle, And I agree with Paul it's
- 1:51:42Speaker 4: still wait and see. People are going to get mad
- 1:51:44Speaker 4: at me. But using the same logic, I feel the
- 1:51:47Speaker 4: same about May. If turnovers persist in real games, do
- 1:51:50Speaker 4: you think Rabel would ever turn to Dobbs as a
- 1:51:52Speaker 4: starter or what would the threshold have to be to
- 1:51:55Speaker 4: make that decision?
- 1:51:58Speaker 5: So I don't think that you deserve to be uh,
- 1:52:01Speaker 5: someone getting mad at you for that. I think that
- 1:52:04Speaker 5: Drake May still has to prove himself. I think that
- 1:52:07Speaker 5: the threshold for a change a quarterback would be enormous,
- 1:52:10Speaker 5: Like he'd have.
- 1:52:11Speaker 4: To really feel bad.
- 1:52:13Speaker 5: Epically, like I'm talking Zach Wilson bad. Yeah, you know with.
- 1:52:17Speaker 4: The jet walking ten guys in a row bad.
- 1:52:20Speaker 5: Yeah, right, Like he'd have to be really really bad
- 1:52:22Speaker 5: for them to do that. Right now, now, if let's
- 1:52:26Speaker 5: assume that he plays quarterback all year this year and
- 1:52:28Speaker 5: then next year, we're still talking about the same kind
- 1:52:31Speaker 5: of stuff. Now we've got to leash is a lot shorter.
- 1:52:33Speaker 5: Right now, it's time to find a new guy.
- 1:52:35Speaker 4: Yep, yep.
- 1:52:38Speaker 5: But I I have confidence that Drake May can succeed.
- 1:52:43Speaker 5: I don't know how much I haven't seen it on
- 1:52:47Speaker 5: a consistent enough basis to say this guy is going
- 1:52:49Speaker 5: to be the next, you know, stud quarterback. He's gonna
- 1:52:52Speaker 5: do what Jayden do?
- 1:52:52Speaker 4: You need the consistency. You need the consistency, and then
- 1:52:55Speaker 4: you need to see that consistency play its way into
- 1:52:59Speaker 4: big moments.
- 1:53:00Speaker 5: That last part is important. It's not about the numbers.
- 1:53:03Speaker 5: Everybody just focuses on, like Jayden Daniels's numbers were sort
- 1:53:06Speaker 5: of pedestrian last year, and they were, but when games
- 1:53:09Speaker 5: were on the line, he was almost perfect right and
- 1:53:12Speaker 5: that's what separates these guys. That's what separated Brady. Brady's
- 1:53:17Speaker 5: almost never lost when the game was winnable down the stretch.
- 1:53:20Speaker 5: He almost never failed in those well.
- 1:53:22Speaker 4: Robert Kraft said it in the speech. He made us
- 1:53:24Speaker 4: feel invincible, like you always knew you had a chance
- 1:53:28Speaker 4: with Brady and that he was going to pull it out,
- 1:53:30Speaker 4: you know, Brad. In Australia, I was watching YouTube on
- 1:53:35Speaker 4: Will Campbell and showing the hand placement when in pass protection.
- 1:53:40Speaker 4: Got me wondering if being left handed or right handed
- 1:53:42Speaker 4: helps determine whether you would be better at left or
- 1:53:44Speaker 4: right tackle. For instance, would being a left handed be
- 1:53:48Speaker 4: ideal for left tackle, providing the strength to stop the
- 1:53:50Speaker 4: defender getting around the outside. I think it does matter
- 1:53:53Speaker 4: a little bit for some people, like whether they're left
- 1:53:56Speaker 4: or right dominant. Belichick's talked about this many times. Some
- 1:54:00Speaker 4: guys can slide left or right. Others it's a whole
- 1:54:04Speaker 4: different world, you know, having to do everything opposite.
- 1:54:07Speaker 5: Yeah, but I don't know if it's better to be
- 1:54:09Speaker 5: left or right handed.
- 1:54:10Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know. I don't know if that matters,
- 1:54:12Speaker 4: but I'm sure some people it might, you know.
- 1:54:14Speaker 5: I think it's more about how you are trained to
- 1:54:18Speaker 5: do something.
- 1:54:19Speaker 4: Yep. You know.
- 1:54:19Speaker 5: It's like your footwork, and you're used to being on
- 1:54:21Speaker 5: the one side or the other, and then you just
- 1:54:23Speaker 5: can't mirror it on the other side. But I do
- 1:54:26Speaker 5: wonder because I could make it just as strong an
- 1:54:28Speaker 5: argument that the punch from a left tackle with your
- 1:54:31Speaker 5: right hand, if you were right handed, is more important
- 1:54:35Speaker 5: than the outside punch because you want to knock the
- 1:54:37Speaker 5: guy wide right. That's what you want to do.
- 1:54:40Speaker 4: Right, So here you go.
- 1:54:43Speaker 5: But I don't I could make that argument. I don't
- 1:54:45Speaker 5: know that that's true. I don't I've ever played offensive
- 1:54:47Speaker 5: line in my.
- 1:54:48Speaker 6: Life, and your factoring in how the difference is in
- 1:54:52Speaker 6: strength in the dominant hand versus the non dominant hand.
- 1:54:55Speaker 6: If you're training properly, probably negligible, you're exactly it should
- 1:54:59Speaker 6: be right, or you're really significantly overtraining one side compared
- 1:55:03Speaker 6: to the other.
- 1:55:04Speaker 5: It's kind of like, if Andy were doing this right,
- 1:55:06Speaker 5: he'd have all the upper body strength in the world.
- 1:55:10Speaker 5: Skip legs, but yeah, he skipped lake. He skipped late.
- 1:55:15Speaker 6: The cabs are very important.
- 1:55:19Speaker 4: Brian and Marshville Mass love the pod for years realized
- 1:55:23Speaker 4: real football talk is here now. But in the subject
- 1:55:26Speaker 4: of hats, he says, I was a balding man in
- 1:55:29Speaker 4: my late twenties, and I am by no way comparing
- 1:55:31Speaker 4: myself to my Boston College Matt hasselback friend. But he
- 1:55:36Speaker 4: absolutely nailed it with the curved brim backwards next to
- 1:55:41Speaker 4: Griffy taking batting practice with the backwards flat brim. Best
- 1:55:45Speaker 4: sports usage of a backwards cap, so curved brim for
- 1:55:48Speaker 4: a backwards cap so begs a question when is the
- 1:55:51Speaker 4: appropriate time for an adult male to go backwards cap
- 1:55:58Speaker 4: little off season? What's the appropriate time to have it
- 1:56:02Speaker 4: a backwards cap for an adult male? Like age time
- 1:56:06Speaker 4: or like yeah, no, no, like, I'll give you my
- 1:56:09Speaker 4: hands if you're only if you're on a training camp
- 1:56:11Speaker 4: and you just you wear hats backwards, wear it back No,
- 1:56:13Speaker 4: that's not appropriate. The only appropriate time for an adult
- 1:56:17Speaker 4: male to wear the hat backwards is where if you
- 1:56:20Speaker 4: wore it for it it impedes with something that you're doing. Otherwise,
- 1:56:25Speaker 4: you're a heart on a boat. Otherwise you're on a boat.
- 1:56:28Speaker 6: Sometimes if you're going the brim, there's a.
- 1:56:31Speaker 4: Lot of wind and you want it.
- 1:56:33Speaker 5: You don't want it to play basketball and you can't get.
- 1:56:35Speaker 6: You to your vision, right, something like that.
- 1:56:38Speaker 4: Otherwise, right, you shouldn't be wearing a cap, wearing playing
- 1:56:41Speaker 4: basket so.
- 1:56:42Speaker 5: You don't worry about getting your head torched.
- 1:56:43Speaker 7: My head gets that's where I wear the bucket hat.
- 1:56:45Speaker 5: Some of us have those problems, like and me, I
- 1:56:51Speaker 5: could see you playing basket on the dew rag. That's funny.
- 1:57:01Speaker 4: Both me and a do rag. Let's see.
- 1:57:06Speaker 5: I don't do the backward halt thing. Freddy.
- 1:57:07Speaker 4: No, I think for adult men you kind of look
- 1:57:11Speaker 4: like a heart. Like if you're in college, fine, or
- 1:57:14Speaker 4: kids in eighth grade.
- 1:57:15Speaker 6: You're in construction, you're like measuring something and you throw
- 1:57:19Speaker 6: it backwards and you put your little pencil up and then.
- 1:57:22Speaker 7: You know you can put the pencil in forward.
- 1:57:24Speaker 6: Yeah, but if you're like measuring.
- 1:57:26Speaker 4: I'm wrestling contests, and you have to get what we
- 1:57:29Speaker 4: should have. We should have the people from front Workwear
- 1:57:33Speaker 4: call in and tell us when it's appropriate on the job,
- 1:57:36Speaker 4: have your cat backward on the job. All right, all right,
- 1:57:42Speaker 4: we get let's see it. That's the end.
- 1:57:44Speaker 6: Wait, I got I got another line. I just thought
- 1:57:47Speaker 6: of hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard.
- 1:57:52Speaker 6: I don't know if I believe that one.
- 1:57:53Speaker 5: That's absolutely a tried and true clicheism.
- 1:57:59Speaker 4: Absolutely all right, So for the studio, So what's the
- 1:58:04Speaker 4: what's this? So we'll be back at noon on Thursday
- 1:58:09Speaker 4: and toward the end of the show, because they're gonna
- 1:58:11Speaker 4: practice from twelve to two. Toward the end of the show,
- 1:58:14Speaker 4: Deuce and or Evan will call in and give us
- 1:58:18Speaker 4: everything they saw on Wednesday and Thursday, and of course
- 1:58:22Speaker 4: on Patriots Oh you know what, just falling apart? Uh, docman,
- 1:58:28Speaker 4: I'm good. We're wrapping up, uh for the next two days. Obviously,
- 1:58:34Speaker 4: we'll have all the information that you need from training
- 1:58:37Speaker 4: camp on social media. You'll get all that and then
- 1:58:42Speaker 4: cast twenty two. Do we have a schedule for that
- 1:58:44Speaker 4: this week?
- 1:58:46Speaker 2: Four to six on Thursday, Okay, afternoon Drive, all right,
- 1:58:51Speaker 2: four to six on Thursday, Barth and Evan, all right,
- 1:58:54Speaker 2: we will see you Thursday.
- 1:58:58Speaker 22: Hey, this is Deuce. Thanks for tuning in to the show.
- 1:59:00Speaker 22: If you really want to help us, make sure you
- 1:59:02Speaker 22: like us wherever you get your podcasts, like Apple Podcasts
- 1:59:04Speaker 22: or Spotify. Also make sure you follow us on the
- 1:59:07Speaker 22: New England Patriots YouTube channel to see this show and
- 1:59:09Speaker 22: everything else that we do here at the Patriots.
- 1:59:11Speaker 4: Thanks a lot,
