- 0:00Few every Bible Hebrews chapter 12.
- 0:03This our last sermon in the 12th chapter and next week will begin
- 0:06chapter 13 and finish this long journey through the book of
- 0:11Hebrews. And today we're going to look
- 0:13one more time at that Fifth and final warning that the writer of
- 0:17Hebrews gives to the audience. And whom he is writing.
- 0:22And so, we need to understand that.
- 0:24As he writes this letter, he does not know who in the
- 0:28congregation truly is a possessor of the Messiah, or
- 0:34just one who professes his commitment to the Messiah, he
- 0:39doesn't know that. And so all throughout the book,
- 0:43he gives these different warnings five of them in
- 0:45particular in this is the fifth one.
- 0:48And with each warning grow with each, Each warning comes a
- 0:52growing intensity about what's going to happen to those who
- 0:56refuse to follow. What the Lord God says.
- 1:01And in this warning, he wants them to understand that they
- 1:04need to come to the all sufficient all Supreme King of
- 1:09the universe because everything about the book of Hebrews said,
- 1:14us around the supremacy and the sufficiency of Jesus Christ, Our
- 1:19Lord And so because he is so Supreme and so sufficient, you
- 1:23need to give your life to him and follow him.
- 1:27In fact, he says, in verse number 25, see to it that you do
- 1:32not refuse him, who is speaking. And so all throughout the book
- 1:38he wants the hearers to examine their lives examinations very
- 1:44important. He wants them to examine whether
- 1:48or not. They truly are followers of
- 1:51Christ, if not, they need to come and follow him.
- 1:57And in this last warning he makes a contrast between two
- 1:59mountains. One is Sion, I in one is Zion
- 2:04Sion, I represents human achievement, Zion represents
- 2:10Divine accomplishment Sian, I represents man's work, Zion
- 2:17represents God's work. Sinai is all about the law.
- 2:22Zion is all about Grace and so he compels them to come to leave
- 2:29the old Covenant and embrace the New Covenant do not refuse.
- 2:34The one who is speaking and as he gives These Warnings all
- 2:39throughout the book, he also helps them understand.
- 2:42Not just that they need to examine their lives, but their
- 2:45lives need to be lived in expectation of what's going to
- 2:49happen. Next, that is so important.
- 2:53In fact, in chapter 1 of Hebrews, the second verse he
- 2:56says, Christ is the air of all things because we are joint
- 3:04heirs with Christ. We then become Heirs of all
- 3:08things of his. He also says, in chapter 2,
- 3:13verse number 5, that there is a world that's going to come, what
- 3:18world is that? And then he says, in chapter 9
- 3:22verse number 15 that there's a promise of an eternal
- 3:25inheritance to get the listeners to realize that there's an
- 3:29inheritance that's going to come in at lasts forever.
- 3:32But what is that inheritance? And then in chapter 11, he talks
- 3:39about Abraham, how he was looking for a city whose Builder
- 3:44and maker is god with city. Is that, And then a Chapter 13
- 3:50and verse number 14. He says we are seeking the city,
- 3:55which is To come. so the book of Hebrews is not just about
- 4:02examination, it's about expectation, living in
- 4:05expectation of what God's going to do next, This is absolutely
- 4:12incredibly important. And so the writer of Hebrews
- 4:18says, very clearly these words see to it that you do not refuse
- 4:24him. Who is speaking for those who
- 4:28those did not Escape, when they refused him who warned them on
- 4:31Earth, much less, will we escape?
- 4:34Who turn away from him, who warns from heaven?
- 4:37And his voice shook the Earth then.
- 4:41But now he promised saying, yet once more, I will shake, not
- 4:45only the Earth. Earth.
- 4:47But also the heaven. This expression, yet once more
- 4:51denotes, the removing of those things which can be shaken.
- 4:55As of creative things, said those things which cannot be
- 4:58shaken May remain. Therefore since we receive a
- 5:02kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude by which
- 5:06we may offer scuse me to God and acceptable service with
- 5:12reverence at all. For our God is a consuming.
- 5:17Fire. He warns them of the Judgment of
- 5:23God. That that judgments going to
- 5:26come. And therefore they need to be
- 5:30able to embrace that, which is unshakable versus that, which is
- 5:36shakeable. Now all of us know about the
- 5:43earthquake. The 7.8 earthquake in turkey and
- 5:46Syria. That as of this morning has
- 5:49killed over 29,000 people, And probably, it will grow even
- 5:55larger as the day's progress. Almost 100,000 people have been
- 6:01injured. and I thought about that, and I thought about, The
- 6:08number of earthquakes that happen around the world every
- 6:11year. And there are 500,000
- 6:16earthquakes that happen every year.
- 6:20On the planet. 100,000 of them can be felt quite readily. there
- 6:27are 10,000 earthquakes in Southern California, every
- 6:32single year. Some of them.
- 6:36We feel others. We don't.
- 6:40But isn't it interesting that as the Earth?
- 6:45Orbits around the sun, it's spinning on its axis.
- 6:51And as it spins, it always is trembling and shaking.
- 6:59The second law of Thermodynamics is very important because it
- 7:03tells us that everything is degrading.
- 7:07Everything is getting worse, it's not getting any better.
- 7:13And it's leading to something that's very, very significant as
- 7:17it comes to our text and Hebrews chapter 12.
- 7:21And you think of the earthquake in turkey and Syria in realize
- 7:28how severe it was. And people, always ask the
- 7:33question. Well, where was God?
- 7:35When that happened? How come those kind of things
- 7:39take place? Whether there's an answer in the
- 7:42scriptures to that that's very very important.
- 7:46Is found in the 13th, chapter of Luke.
- 7:50And the Lord says these words in Luke Chapter 13, He says, now on
- 7:56the same occasion, there were some president who reported to
- 7:59him about the galileans. Whose blood pilate had mixed
- 8:03with their sacrifices. That's a question.
- 8:10That arose that says, why is it these galileans were going to
- 8:14worship and pilot would would cut them up and offer them along
- 8:21with their sacrifices? Why was something like that
- 8:26happened? And Jesus said to them, do you
- 8:30suppose that these galileans were greater Sinners than all
- 8:35other galileans? Because they suffered this fate,
- 8:40they were sinners. With either worst of any kind of
- 8:45Sinner that's ever lived as to why they would suffer this fate
- 8:48while going to worship. He says, I tell you know, but
- 8:54unless you repent, you will likewise perish.
- 8:59This is this. What do you suppose that those
- 9:03eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them were
- 9:09worst culprits than all the men who live in Jerusalem.
- 9:14I tell, you know, but unless you repent, You will all likewise.
- 9:21Parrish. The Lord takes two specific
- 9:25examples that everyone would know.
- 9:29One was a natural disaster. a Tower falling over killing 18,
- 9:36people who just happened to be walking by The other was a plan
- 9:41to Massacre of those who went to worship.
- 9:47In the Lord's, answer is quite remarkable.
- 9:51He never says, you know, you probably need to pray for those
- 9:54who lost their loved ones. Because I'm sure they're really
- 9:58suffering right now. Or maybe we should gather some
- 10:04money together to help those who are suffering.
- 10:07Is it mean that we should do? Those things understand?
- 10:10It's very interesting how he answers it.
- 10:13He answers it from an eternal perspective.
- 10:16Not he's physical perspective. You see, we look at things on a
- 10:20natural plane on a temporal plane.
- 10:25God looks at them from Eternal plane.
- 10:29We look at physical suffering, he looks at Eternal suffering,
- 10:33we look at physical pain, he looks at Eternal pain, he weighs
- 10:38everything in light of Eternity, we weigh everything in light of
- 10:42what's going to happen to be physically, my loss, my pain. in
- 10:49Christ, directs them above to help them understand that when
- 10:55judgment comes. When Calamity comes when
- 11:00disaster comes as Isaiah 26. Verse number 9 says, God is
- 11:06known. In his righteousness.
- 11:11The only way to know the righteousness of God is within
- 11:15the framework of his judgments. We forget that.
- 11:20We must understand that. It's a, what the warning is
- 11:25about, is very significant to us today.
- 11:29When we look at Hebrews chapter 12 because he says in Hebrews
- 11:32chapter 12, the expression, yet once more denotes, the removing
- 11:38of those things, which can be shaken.
- 11:40As of creative things, said those things which cannot be
- 11:44shaken May remain. In other words, there's going to
- 11:47be a shaking There's going to be a shaking unlike the world has
- 11:52ever seen. And you need to be aware that
- 11:57the shaking is going to come. Now he quotes from the book of
- 12:02haggai, that's very important. Remember, he's writing to a
- 12:07Jewish audience. Very familiar with the Old
- 12:12Testament. That's why he doesn't say.
- 12:15Remember the prophet haggai or remember when the psalmist said
- 12:20didn't say that. All throughout Hebrew Jesus
- 12:24quotes. The verse why?
- 12:25Because they're well-versed in the Old Testament.
- 12:28They know what it says. And they would know about the
- 12:33shaking of the earth, that's going to come.
- 12:38They would know that. and so, in the book of haggai, The second
- 12:44chapter the sixth verse haggai. Along with Zachariah.
- 12:53Is encouraging the Jews. To begin to rebuild the Temple.
- 13:00The first temple as you recall was destroyed, when
- 13:03Nebuchadnezzar came in and 586 BC.
- 13:08And so he's encouraging them to rebuild that Temple.
- 13:13As he does verse 6, says, chapter 2 for thus, says the
- 13:17Lord of hosts. Once more in a little while, I
- 13:21am going to shake the heavens and the Earth.
- 13:24That's where the writer of Hebrews gets it the see also in
- 13:29the dry land. I will shake all the nations.
- 13:35And they will come. To the desire of the Nations,
- 13:42and I will fill the house with Glory says, the Lord of hosts.
- 13:50Who's the desire of the nation's?
- 13:52Well, that's the Messiah. Malachi 3:1 calls him the
- 13:57messenger in whom the Nations Delight.
- 14:03It's so the prophet haggai is prophesying about this great
- 14:09shaking, that's going to take place.
- 14:12When it does, it says, I will fill this house with Glory.
- 14:18Now, that's very important. Why?
- 14:22The Book of Ezekiel chapter 43, Ezekiel says the spirit and the
- 14:29spirit lifted me up, and brought me into the inner court and
- 14:33behold the glory of the Lord filled the house very important.
- 14:38Because earlier, in Ezekiel, 8 to 11, he saw the glory of the
- 14:43Lord. Depart, he saw the glory of the
- 14:46Lord rise up, move outside the Eastern Gate.
- 14:50Cross over the Kidron Brook, rise and rise up the Mount of
- 14:55Olives go over toward Bethany. And depart.
- 15:03Interesting, quite ironic. That when our Lord came.
- 15:09And the glory of the Lord dwelt among us, he would leave
- 15:14Bethany. Descend, the Mount of Olives.
- 15:19Crossover the Kidron book. Enter the Eastern Gate.
- 15:24For the king of glory had arrived.
- 15:27But they didn't recognize the king of glory. and because the
- 15:33recognizing, the crucified him, Which, of course was a part of
- 15:36the plan of God anyway. But Ezekiel sees the glory of
- 15:42the Lord filling the house of the Lord.
- 15:46It says in verse number 7 of his equal 43.
- 15:50He said to me, son of man, this is the place of my throne and
- 15:54the place of the soles of my feet were.
- 15:58I will dwell among the sons of Israel.
- 16:01Forever. So Ezekiel knows about the glory
- 16:07of the Lord returning to the temple.
- 16:12Haggai is encouraging them to build the second temple so that
- 16:17the glory of the Lord will fill the house.
- 16:21And God's presence will be there. but he says, I'm going to
- 16:27shake the heavens and I'm going to shake the Earth, but what is
- 16:33that? When does that happen?
- 16:37How do we know about this? well, the Book of Joel teaches
- 16:42us, Joel chapter Two. Joel chapter 2.
- 16:52Says verse number one blow a trumpet in Zion and sound an
- 16:57alarm on my Holy Mountain that the inhabitants of the land
- 17:01tremble for the day of the Lord is coming.
- 17:05Surely it is near. What is the day of the Lord.
- 17:11It's a phrase. Use 19 times in the Old
- 17:13Testament, six times in the New Testament.
- 17:18It's an eschatological term and in X term referring to a
- 17:24specific time in which God intervenes in human history.
- 17:31For judgment. And Joe tells us.
- 17:35Today of darkness and Gloom a day of clouds and thick darkness
- 17:38and verse 10. He says the earth quakes and the
- 17:43heavens tremble, the Sun and the Moon grow dark and the Stars
- 17:48lose their brightness, the Lord utters his voice.
- 17:51Before his army, surely is Camp, is very great for strong.
- 17:55Is he who carries out his word? The day of the Lord is indeed
- 17:59great and very awesome who can endure it and other words.
- 18:05It's a rhetorical question, answer, no one. but it's coming
- 18:11the day of the Lord when the Lord himself will shake the
- 18:17Earth, The writer of Hebrews is referring to the book of haggai,
- 18:22knowing that there's going to come this shaking of just not
- 18:25the Earth, but the heavens as well.
- 18:29The prophet Isaiah would speak about this.
- 18:33Isaiah chapter 13. Isaiah Chapter 13.
- 18:41Verse number 6, whale for the day of the Lord is near the day
- 18:47of the Lord. Time to which God intervenes in
- 18:51human history for judgment. It's different than the day of
- 18:55God. It's different than the day of
- 18:58Christ. It's the day of the Lord.
- 19:04He says you will come as destruction from the almighty.
- 19:09Therefore, all hands will fall limp in every man's heart will
- 19:13melt. They will be terrified.
- 19:15Pains that anguish will take hold of them.
- 19:18They will rise, like, a woman in labor.
- 19:20They will look at one another in astonishment, their faces, the
- 19:23flame, behold, the day of the Lord is coming cruel with Fury
- 19:28and Burning Anger to make the land a desolation and he will
- 19:33exterminate it. Sinners from it for the stars of
- 19:36heaven and their constellations will not flash.
- 19:40Fourth, their light, the sun will be dark when it rises in
- 19:44the moon, will not shed, its light.
- 19:47Thus, I will punish the world for its evil and the wicked for
- 19:50their iniquity. I will also put an end to the
- 19:54arrogance of the proud and The Bays, the haughtiness of the
- 19:57ruthless. I will make Mortal man.
- 20:00Scare sir than pure gold and Mankind and the go The fear.
- 20:05Therefore I will make the heavens tremble and the Earth
- 20:09will be shaken from its place at the fury of the Lord of hosts in
- 20:15the day of his Burning Anger. Just coming today.
- 20:21In which the writer of Hebrews refers.
- 20:24There's coming a day in which the heavens and the Earth are
- 20:27going to shake. Because God's judgment is going
- 20:31to come and be poured out on mankind.
- 20:35And all throughout the Old Testament, God gives warning
- 20:39after warning after warning. Now, the listeners in the book
- 20:45of Hebrews. would understand These Warnings, they would
- 20:50understand Isaiah chapter, 23 when it says, Verse number one,
- 20:57I'm sorry as he had 24 verse. Number 1, behold, the Lord lays
- 21:01the Earth, waste devastates, it distorts, it, it surfaced and
- 21:06scatters, its inhabitants verse 19, the Earth is broken asunder.
- 21:10The Earth is split through. The Earth is shaken, violently
- 21:14the Earth reels to, and fro like a drunkard, and it tatars, like
- 21:18a shack for his transgression is heavy upon it and it will fall
- 21:23never to rise again. So what happened in that day?
- 21:27The day of the Lord, that the Lord will punish the host of
- 21:29heaven. And I, and the kings of the
- 21:31Earth on the earth, they will be gathered together like prisoners
- 21:35in the dungeon and will be confined in prison.
- 21:38And after many days, they will be punished.
- 21:41Then the moon will be abashed in the sun ashamed.
- 21:45For the Lord of hosts will rain on Mount Zion in Jerusalem and
- 21:49His glory will be before his elders. so, all throughout the
- 21:56Old Testament because Zechariah haggai Joel.
- 22:04Isaiah. Jeremiah the prophet sworn
- 22:10concerning the day of the Lord. It's also called the day of
- 22:13vengeance. To call the day of Wrath, that's
- 22:18going to come upon the nation. I'll go up on the world upon the
- 22:24heavens. And so when the writer of
- 22:27Hebrews says there's coming a time, if you think the shaking
- 22:30at Mount Sinai was bad, that caused everybody to tremble and
- 22:34to live in fear, you just wait there's coming a shaking that is
- 22:40so severe it shakes both the heavens and the Earth.
- 22:46Now, it's important to realize that when before that happens,
- 22:50there is a progression of shaking on the planet.
- 22:56Revelation chapter 6, says it this way.
- 23:00Verse number 12. Remember there are six seals
- 23:05that span The Book of Revelation or the day of the Lord or the
- 23:10tribulation. Those Seven Seals span the
- 23:14entire time when the 7th seal is broken, seven, trumpets, blow
- 23:22when the seventh trumpet, blows seven bowls are poured out upon
- 23:26the Earth. They happen in Rapid succession
- 23:29at the end. but the seventh seal spanned, the tribulation period,
- 23:37very important to realize that it says that in verse 12 of
- 23:42chapter 6, I look when he broke the Sixth Seal and there was a
- 23:46great earthquake and the sun became black, as sackcloth made
- 23:52of hair in the whole Moon became like blood and the stars of the
- 23:57sky fell to the Earth as a fig tree casts.
- 24:00Its unripe figs when shaken by a great win the sky, it was split
- 24:04apart like a scroll when it is rolled up and every mountain and
- 24:09Island. Moved out of its place.
- 24:14Every island Every Mountain. Is moved out of its place.
- 24:22Then the kings of the earth and the great men, and the
- 24:24commanders, and the rich, and the strong, and every slave and
- 24:27free man, hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks.
- 24:31The mountains. And they said to the mountains
- 24:35and to the Rocks, fall on us and hide us from the presence of him
- 24:39who sits on the throne and from the Wrath of the Lamb.
- 24:45For the great day of their wrath is come, and who is able to
- 24:49stand quite interesting that they know The kings of the
- 24:56world. Every slave, man.
- 24:58Every free man. Everyone who exists knows it's
- 25:03the Wrath. Of the Lamb.
- 25:08How do they know that? Simply because there are no
- 25:13atheists have ever existed. They don't exist.
- 25:18Everybody knows. There's a God.
- 25:22And they live in fear. you go over to Revelation chapter 8, it
- 25:28says When the lamb broke the seventh seal, verse number one,
- 25:33there was silence in heaven, for about a half an hour.
- 25:36And I saw the seven angels who stand before God and seven
- 25:40trumpets were given to them. Why was the silence in heaven
- 25:42for about a half hour? Because nobody could believe
- 25:46what was about to happen next. Another angel came and stood at
- 25:51the altar holding a golden censer and much incense was
- 25:56given to him that he might add to it.
- 25:59The prayers of all the Saints on the golden altar, which was
- 26:02before the throne. the smoke of the incense with the prayers of
- 26:06the saints went up before God, out of the Angels hand, then the
- 26:10angel took the censer and filled it with the fire of the Altar
- 26:14and true it to the Earth and there followed peals of thunder
- 26:19sounds and flashes of lightning and A shaking, an earthquake.
- 26:28When you come to chapter, 16. Chapter 8.
- 26:33You have the 7 trumpets that blow and when you come to
- 26:36chapter 16, you have the bowls that are poured out upon the
- 26:40Earth. It says these words.
- 26:47In verse number 8, the fourth, Angel poured out his bowl upon
- 26:50the sun and it was given to it to Scorch men with fire men were
- 26:54scorched with Fierce heat and they blaspheme the name of God,
- 26:58who has the power over these plagues and they did not repent.
- 27:02So, as to give him glory, then the fifth, angel poured out, his
- 27:06bowl on the throne of the Beast and his kingdom became darkened
- 27:10and they gnawed their tongues because of pain and blasphemed
- 27:13the god of Heaven because of their pains and their sores And
- 27:17they did not repent of their deeds.
- 27:21Play psalmist said that. God is known by the Judgment.
- 27:27He executes. God is best known in his
- 27:32judgments. And so sure enough they
- 27:36blaspheme the name of God. Why?
- 27:39Because he recognized? Who it is?
- 27:41Who's doing this? Says in verse number 18, and
- 27:45there were flashes of lightning and sounds and peals of thunder
- 27:49and there was a great earthquake such as there.
- 27:52Had not been since man came to be upon the Earth so great an
- 27:57earthquake was it. And so mighty that the great
- 28:00city which is Jerusalem was split into three parts and the
- 28:04cities of the nation's fell Babylon.
- 28:06The great was remembered before God, to give her the cup of the
- 28:09wine of his Fierce wrath and every island fled away.
- 28:13We're in the mountains were not found. in Revelation 6 every
- 28:20island moved every Mountain, moved In Revelation 16 every
- 28:28Island. Fleas away.
- 28:31That means, it's out of existence and not one mountain.
- 28:37Was left to be found. A great shaking.
- 28:42Huge hailstones about 100 pounds each came down from heaven upon
- 28:45men and men, blasphemed God, because of the plague of the
- 28:49hail because it's plague was extremely severe.
- 28:54God is warning, man. About the ultimate shaking.
- 28:59That has yet to happen, but it's coming.
- 29:04And he does it through series of earthquakes and trembling and
- 29:07shaking upon the Earth. Helping them realize that
- 29:11judgment is going to come like Christ in.
- 29:14Luke 13, unless you repent you will all likewise perish.
- 29:19You see, it's God's grace that gives us warnings about his
- 29:22impending judgment. He didn't have to give us a
- 29:25warning. He had to give 120 years warning
- 29:29to the citizens of Noah's day. But it gave him 120 years of
- 29:35warning before the floods came. and so, when you come to Peter's
- 29:42epistle, second Peter chapter 3, he's talks about.
- 29:49The day of the Lord again. Oh, by the way, did you know
- 29:53that there are 27 New Testament books?
- 29:55I'm sure you knew that, right? Of the 27, New Testament books.
- 30:0123 emphatic, Lee speak about the return of the Messiah. 23:27.
- 30:12Two of the remaining four. Speak about it in directly.
- 30:20The only two books in the New Testament that don't speak about
- 30:23the return of Christ, Philemon. And second John R, CB third job.
- 30:29Way to books. Now, think about that. 25 of 27,
- 30:39New Testament books, speak about the second coming and people say
- 30:41that eschatology is not that important.
- 30:46It's all going to end the way God wants the.
- 30:48It's not that important. If it wasn't that important. 25
- 30:53of the 27, New Testament books would have said anything about
- 30:55it. Oh, by the way, just for
- 30:57reference sake of all the questions asked of Jesus, of all
- 31:02the questions asked of Jesus that are recorded in the Bible.
- 31:06There is one. That has the longest answer.
- 31:13And that one that has the longest answer.
- 31:16Deals with the second coming. You tell me the second time he's
- 31:21not important. Of all the answers you could
- 31:25give. He could say it very quickly
- 31:27just run right through it but no.
- 31:30The Olivet discourse is the longest answer given to any
- 31:33question asked by the Lord because the end is as important
- 31:38as the beginning. In Genesis 1 is important.
- 31:42The Book of Revelations important.
- 31:44If Revelations not important, Genesis 1 is not important.
- 31:48You can't see what is important. In one's is not or you can't say
- 31:52one is literal and one is not. You can't do that.
- 31:57Because that means you're inconsistent and you've got to
- 32:01be consistent throughout your biblical hermeneutic in terms of
- 32:04how you interpret scripture. If there are 24 literal days in
- 32:09the Book of Genesis, which there are not 24, six periods of Ages,
- 32:17there are six literal days. so, to the Book of Revelation is
- 32:24literal, meaning that all 254 usages of numbers in the Book of
- 32:30Revelation are all literal, none of them are symbolic.
- 32:36Very important why? Because Jesus wants you to know
- 32:39he's coming again and he wants you to know the events
- 32:43surrounding his return. And all that's going to take
- 32:45place, why? Because it's all about the
- 32:48warning of impending judgment. Because unless you repent, you
- 32:51will all likewise perish. You need to know he's coming
- 32:55again. And so Peter says that this way.
- 33:01The day of the Lord verse 10 is second.
- 33:03Peter 3 will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass
- 33:06away with a roar in the elements will be destroyed with intense
- 33:10Heat and the earth and its works.
- 33:15Will be burned up since all these things are to be destroyed
- 33:19in this way. What sort of people ought you to
- 33:22be in holy conduct and godliness looking for, and hastening the
- 33:26coming of the day of God's different than the day of the
- 33:30Lord? Man has his day.
- 33:33Satan has had his day. Now, God will have his day.
- 33:39In the Eternal state. Looking for, and hastening the
- 33:43coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens
- 33:45will be destroyed by burning. And the elements will melt with
- 33:49intense heat. But according to his promise, we
- 33:52are looking for a new Heaven and a new Earth in which
- 33:56righteousness dwells Matthew chapter 24. which is that long
- 34:06answer to the one question asked by our Lord He says immediately
- 34:12after the tribulation of those days, Matthew 24 do not happen
- 34:16in 70 AD, it's impossible for that to take place.
- 34:21How do we know that? Because the events parallel with
- 34:24Revelation chapter 6 and following throughout the Book of
- 34:28Revelation, And because Revelation was written in 96
- 34:32a.d., not before 70 AD, how do we know that?
- 34:38This is where my replacement theology, guys.
- 34:40Get it all wrong. You don't know the history.
- 34:44Very important. John was exiled under the reign
- 34:48of domitian. He ruled between 81.
- 34:54In 98 ad. It was Vespasian who ruled
- 35:01before 70 AD. So you have to understand the
- 35:05history of when John was exiled to Patmos to realize that
- 35:08Revelation is a leader writing. Not an earlier writing so,
- 35:13Revelation, Matthew 24 could not have taken place before 70 AD
- 35:18because all that parallels with the events of Revelation 6
- 35:21through 19, So says the first number 29, but immediately after
- 35:26the tribulation of those days, the sun will be darkened, and
- 35:29the moon will not give its light and the Stars will fall from the
- 35:32sky. The powers of the heavens will
- 35:33be shaken and then the sign of the son of man will appear in
- 35:36the sky and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn.
- 35:41And they will see the son of man coming on the clouds of the sky
- 35:44with power and great glory. And he will send forth his
- 35:48angels with a great trumpet. And they will gather together
- 35:51his elect from the Four Winds from one end of the sky.
- 35:54By to the other. Here is coming is shaking.
- 36:00In which the writer of Hebrews. So eloquently States.
- 36:06Yet once more, I will shake, not only the Earth, but also the
- 36:11heaven. This expression yet once more
- 36:14denotes, the removing of those things, which can be shaken.
- 36:17As of creative things, said those things which cannot be
- 36:21shaken May remain. In other words, there's coming
- 36:27today. It's called the day of the Lord.
- 36:32In which there will be many shakings that take place.
- 36:36Could include the islands, being removed, the mountains being
- 36:39removed and people dying. Indeed, there's coming one great
- 36:45shaking at the end of that time at the end of the tribulation,
- 36:50at the end when Christ comes in all of his glory.
- 36:52And by the way, the glory of the Lord will fill the house.
- 36:55And the glory of the Lord will reign on top of Mount Zion.
- 36:59Why? Because Zacharias, 6, 12 or 13,
- 37:01says that the Messiah will build his Temple?
- 37:07Messiah is going to build this Temple.
- 37:10The Jews believe today that they're going to build the tent,
- 37:13the Third Temple, right? And they are but then I going to
- 37:18build it for the Messiah, they're going to go there for
- 37:19the antenna sign. Zacharias, sixth is the fourth
- 37:24temple, verses 12 to 13, which the Lord himself will build, and
- 37:28His glory, would dwell in that Temple.
- 37:31And his feet as he says, in the book of Isaiah, will dwell, the
- 37:35soles of his feet will. I'm sorry, Ezekiel 43, the soles
- 37:40of his feet will stand on top of Mount, Zion in Rule and Reign
- 37:45Over His People Israel. it's a promise that God has given and
- 37:52after he does that, after the millennial reign of Christ will
- 37:56come and shaking that will destroy all heaven and all
- 37:59Earth, and they'll be a new Kevin and a new Earth.
- 38:05Where righteousness dwells But it's interesting to note.
- 38:11That part of Israel's worship centered around the belief.
- 38:18In the god of the universe. Which establishes their
- 38:23well-being. So they will never be shaken. it
- 38:28says, in Psalm 16 these words, I Will Bless The Lord who has
- 38:33consoled me and deed my mind instructs me in the night.
- 38:36I have set the Lord continually before me because he is at my
- 38:39right hand I will not be shaken. I will not be shaken.
- 38:45Therefore my heart is glad and my glory rejoices, My Flesh.
- 38:48Also will dwell securely. And then over in chapter 55,
- 38:57verse number 22, cast, your burden upon the Lord.
- 38:58He will sustain you, he will never allow the righteous to be
- 39:03shaken. Over in chapter 62 it says my
- 39:10soul waits in silence for God Only from him is my salvation.
- 39:13He only is my rock and my salvation.
- 39:15My stronghold. I shall not be greatly shaken.
- 39:20He repeated again down in verse number 6, he only is my rock and
- 39:24my salvation, my stronghold. I shall not be shaken.
- 39:28I'm gone. My salvation and my glory rests,
- 39:30the rock of my strength, my refuge is in In God.
- 39:37So important. Psalm 1 says in Psalm 112,
- 39:42praise the Lord. How blessed is the man who
- 39:43fears? The Lord who greatly Delights in
- 39:45his commandment 46? He will never be shaken.
- 39:49The righteous will be remembered forever.
- 39:53Proverbs chapter 10 verse number 28, the hope of the righteous is
- 39:55gladness, but the expectation of the wicked perish has the way of
- 39:59the Lord is a stronghold to the upright, but ruined to the
- 40:03workers of iniquity. The righteous Will Never Be
- 40:07Shaken. So the Hebrew audience, reading
- 40:12the letter, written to them by the writer of Hebrews.
- 40:18Understands what it means to Never Be Shaken.
- 40:23Because of the Old Testament. They understand of a great
- 40:27shaking that's going to come because the profits that
- 40:30prophesied about that. So they would know these things
- 40:33you see. So, it's important for us to
- 40:36realize that that God has a progressive amount of judgments
- 40:41that will come. They happen today.
- 40:43Sporadically, there are hurricanes.
- 40:46There are tornadoes, there are earthquakes.
- 40:49There are fires and their judgments that come from God to
- 40:54warn you of the impending judgment.
- 40:56That's going to come to help you understand that the physical
- 40:59suffering is not near what you need to worry about, but the
- 41:02Eternal suffering of Lost Souls. To get you to think about your
- 41:07Eternal Destiny. Not be preoccupied with your
- 41:11physical opportunities. And as a day, the Lord draws
- 41:17they will be Progressive shaking and fire and earthquakes the
- 41:22judgments of God upon the Earth, why?
- 41:25So man will begin to realize the Indus coming.
- 41:30We read in Revelation 6 as well as Revelation chapter 16 that
- 41:34they would blaspheme the name of the Lord.
- 41:36They would not repent even though they knew it was the god
- 41:41of the universe, the lamb in his wrath, they knew that But it
- 41:46would not repent. But the king is going to come.
- 41:52Instead of his kingdom, and they will be shaking.
- 41:55So he says, the writer of Hebrews.
- 41:58Since we receive a kingdom, which cannot be shaken which is
- 42:02Mount Zion, it cannot be shaken. It's a study of the of the great
- 42:08king. Zion represents that we told you
- 42:11the authority in glory of the Messiah.
- 42:16Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom, which
- 42:18cannot be shaken. Let us show.
- 42:19Gratitude, let's be thankful that were part of an unshakable
- 42:23Kingdom, by which we may offer to God, acceptable worship with
- 42:27reverence and awe for our God is a consuming Fire.
- 42:35What he is? A consuming fire.
- 42:40And that's how he ends his Fifth and final warning to his
- 42:46audience. He wants them to know that this
- 42:50is going to happen. They would know because they
- 42:54read the Old Testament. We know because we can go back
- 42:57and read the Old Testament and we have the Book of Revelation
- 43:00that explains to us the coming in and how it all unfolds before
- 43:04us, we can see those things we can read about them.
- 43:10Somebody might say, but I don't want to be a part of the
- 43:12shakeable Kingdom. I want to be a part of the
- 43:14unshakable Kingdom. How do I do that?
- 43:20You can't stay at Sinai. Can't climb the mountain on
- 43:25human achievement. You got to go to Mount, Zion.
- 43:30Mount Calvary Mount Moriah. The mount where Christ's work
- 43:37was accomplished for you that you might Embrace what he did
- 43:41his finished work on Calvary cross.
- 43:44And come to him and balance the mission to his lordship.
- 43:48We follow him. Because our God is a consuming
- 43:52fire. Let's pray.
- 43:57Father, we thank you for today and the opportunity to give us a
- 43:59study your word. How great it is to know.
- 44:04That you so clearly. Map out the future.
- 44:10It's not ambiguous. It's very clear.
- 44:16It's very concise. You wanted to make sure we
- 44:20understood it. Because Lord, at the Apostle,
- 44:25Paul said, knowing the terror of the lord we persuade men.
- 44:30He knew. He knew the fierce anger of his
- 44:34God. He knew the coming wrath of God.
- 44:40He did all he could to persuade men to give their life to Christ
- 44:44today. They're beating one Among Us.
- 44:46Lord. We persuade them, come to come
- 44:50today to the king. Come to Mount, Zion the city of
- 44:56the Living. God the place where Jesus is for
- 45:02God. The judge is that will forgive
- 45:06you of your sins. And take you into his kingdom.
- 45:10The unshakable kingdom of God. Pray this in Jesus name.
- 45:17Amen.
