- 2:30Speaker 1: it at all? No? If you put on the headphones,
- 2:34Speaker 1: I can play it for you. I think, hold on
- 2:37Speaker 1: one second, one second. Let me just make sure, make sure,
- 2:40Speaker 1: hold on, hold on, hold on audio assets segments, Casey local, Okay,
- 2:47Speaker 1: let's see here. Sure, open it up. Oh if it
- 2:50Speaker 1: takes you this long, Dan, I'll no wonder coming with
- 2:55Speaker 1: the fire? Jeez, maybe I won't play it, Casey, come
- 3:05Speaker 1: down here, and that's what it is. Fire, that's a hit.
- 3:20Speaker 1: That's a bob. That's that should be your ring tone?
- 3:24Speaker 1: Are you making that a ring tone? Yes? Is it
- 3:27Speaker 1: available yet or no? It is not available yet, but
- 3:30Speaker 1: we're hoping early next week. Okay, there you go. Everybody.
- 3:33Speaker 1: You're gonna have that ring tone, Casey, that needs to
- 3:35Speaker 1: be your ring tone. Yes, it will be. Um. I
- 3:38Speaker 1: have to tell you guys, and then I'll let y'all start.
- 3:40Speaker 1: But I just bawled my eyes out watching this damn episode. Obba. Yeah,
- 3:46Speaker 1: they need to play that like right now on I know, well,
- 3:49Speaker 1: you know, interestingly enough when when all I'm just gonna
- 3:52Speaker 1: say this, but um but since you're here, i'll say it.
- 3:55Speaker 1: When all of COVID started, this ending was sort of
- 3:59Speaker 1: the this explanation of how a virus spreads was sort
- 4:02Speaker 1: of going around the internet, and it's such a beautiful
- 4:06Speaker 1: uh well, in this case, it's a beautiful articulation of
- 4:09Speaker 1: how things spread. And then of course they play cold place,
- 4:12Speaker 1: fix you. Then you're done. Yeah, no, it's true because
- 4:17Speaker 1: it's like, it's not saying anyone's an asshole. It's just
- 4:21Speaker 1: it's that easy to just hurt someone without even knowing
- 4:24Speaker 1: you know, it's right, and and and and just like
- 4:27Speaker 1: what's happened, I'm sure with COVID, so many times someone
- 4:30Speaker 1: doesn't know that they have anything dangerous, they don't feel
- 4:32Speaker 1: any symptoms, and then they unknowingly pass it on to
- 4:36Speaker 1: somebody else who is perhaps an old woman who could
- 4:39Speaker 1: die from it, and that person never knows. They go, oh,
- 4:42Speaker 1: I wasn't sick. They don't know that they were a
- 4:44Speaker 1: carrier that gave it to an elderly person that died. Yeah,
- 4:47Speaker 1: well it's worse than that now. Man, So sad, this
- 4:50Speaker 1: delta version. I mean, I don't want to make I
- 4:52Speaker 1: don't want to make this episode about COVID. I mean,
- 4:54Speaker 1: well we can talk about it a little bit, because
- 4:56Speaker 1: that's what comes up. You know, this, this this green
- 4:59Speaker 1: thing that that flies around the hospital is really the
- 5:04Speaker 1: perfect example of how COVID spreads. Yeah, and now and
- 5:07Speaker 1: now the delta version, it's you know, it's in kids now,
- 5:11Speaker 1: and kids are getting sick and that's really scary being
- 5:16Speaker 1: a father of two young children. Well that well, if
- 5:20Speaker 1: you have people in your life, listener, who who are sorry?
- 5:25Speaker 1: Are you talking to me? Or her to her? Okay,
- 5:28Speaker 1: if you have people in your life, listener, dear listener
- 5:32Speaker 1: that are are I don't know, not believing the science
- 5:36Speaker 1: of it all, show them this episode because it I
- 5:38Speaker 1: think it does, in a very creative way, show how
- 5:41Speaker 1: a virus is so easily transmitted. How are you? I'm great.
- 5:46Speaker 1: I just want to say one last thing. It has
- 5:47Speaker 1: nothing to do with She left her sunglasses. She'll be back.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Maybe I should go and get her. Hold on Cassie
- 5:56Speaker 1: down here. Don't no nothing male raising these fools, So
- 6:00Speaker 1: tell me what to do. I don't know. Oh Jesus,
- 6:03Speaker 1: we don't need to hear you screaming. Yeah. I also
- 6:06Speaker 1: need to ask him about the room that he's recording in,
- 6:07Speaker 1: because that room is echoe. Well, we lost the magic
- 6:12Speaker 1: of Donald in his closet, we did. Unfortunately it sounds
- 6:16Speaker 1: sounding so so good, so dead. A last, let's give
- 6:20Speaker 1: him his notes. Daniel wants to talk to you about
- 6:23Speaker 1: how shitty your new room sounds. Go ahead, Daniel, Okay,
- 6:28Speaker 1: Well it's just a little bit more echoe in there,
- 6:30Speaker 1: um is it is there potentially like a different corner
- 6:33Speaker 1: of the room you could use or um, yeah, I
- 6:37Speaker 1: mean not this episode, but yeah, for sure, of course,
- 6:39Speaker 1: of course I'll get Yeah, I'll get one of those things.
- 6:43Speaker 1: I'll get one of those things. I think I have
- 6:44Speaker 1: one too, a sound panel with some foam nipples on it,
- 6:48Speaker 1: yea to surround him mic. That could work the you know,
- 6:51Speaker 1: optimally this is not you know, preferable, of course, but
- 6:55Speaker 1: it's like getting the corners of the actual room itself,
- 6:58Speaker 1: because it's like, yes, that will deaden it right around
- 7:02Speaker 1: the mic, but your voice is still echoing off the
- 7:04Speaker 1: you know, the walls of the room. Um. But you know,
- 7:08Speaker 1: then again, I'll see how much I can fix with
- 7:10Speaker 1: just effects. Maybe it's not gonna matter at all. And
- 7:12Speaker 1: when I get to editing episode four eleven or five eleven,
- 7:15Speaker 1: then we'll, you know, we'll see what we we really need
- 7:16Speaker 1: to do. Anyway, just want to put that out there. Yeah, yes,
- 7:19Speaker 1: you're very echoy. It sounds like when we have Johnny
- 7:21Speaker 1: c and he won't move from his dining room table,
- 7:25Speaker 1: and he sounds very echoy. But even with this microphone,
- 7:27Speaker 1: it's like that. Yes, I mean on our function of
- 7:31Speaker 1: the microphone, Donald, it's a function of the sound waves
- 7:33Speaker 1: bouncing off the corners. Shut the fuck up. Let's go five, six, seven,
- 7:39Speaker 1: eight about show nurses. Yeah, that was a whacky beginning
- 8:05Speaker 1: of it. We're gonna keep all that, Yeah, keep it
- 8:08Speaker 1: all all keep Donald even screaming at the top of
- 8:11Speaker 1: his lungs for casey, My Cabbage, My cabbage. Very wacky, whacky,
- 8:19Speaker 1: whacky episode, whacky episode, and very predictable episode. Maybe because
- 8:24Speaker 1: I remember it predicted at all. I remembered this, Maybe
- 8:27Speaker 1: because I remembered the episode so well. But when you said,
- 8:30Speaker 1: you know, I have an intern that keeps fucking up,
- 8:32Speaker 1: I knew right then and Air it's cabbage. You know
- 8:36Speaker 1: that was clear when you were saying I have interns
- 8:39Speaker 1: that are doing all these things. I knew it was
- 8:41Speaker 1: just one person. Um well, I remembered the green thing
- 8:45Speaker 1: solely because it went you know, viral no no pun
- 8:49Speaker 1: intended on the internet when covid started, because people thought,
- 8:51Speaker 1: oh my god, this is a really good representation of
- 8:53Speaker 1: showing that. So I remember seeing that I forgot that
- 8:57Speaker 1: cabbage on his way out takes out missus will Yeah,
- 9:00Speaker 1: fucker cabbage. Cabbage takes out a bunch of people. Actually,
- 9:04Speaker 1: but we don't even know cabbage. That's what so fucked up.
- 9:08Speaker 1: His cabbage doesn't know that he I forgot. When Missus
- 9:11Speaker 1: Wilke dies, I think she does, but he's yeah, yeah,
- 9:14Speaker 1: so he doesn't know that he did it. Yeah. So
- 9:17Speaker 1: Keith climbs into bed with me, and um, he gives
- 9:20Speaker 1: me a kiss because he's intoxicated and he thinks he's
- 9:23Speaker 1: climbing into me with Elliott and I thought you were
- 9:25Speaker 1: going to push him off. Well, all I say is tender. Yeah, tender,
- 9:33Speaker 1: What a weird thing to say. Like he might haven't
- 9:35Speaker 1: had a dating app that's Tinder, you might. You might say,
- 9:40Speaker 1: if someone culled you different, is that different? It's a
- 9:42Speaker 1: different way it's tender and Tinder different. Yeah, Tinder is
- 9:47Speaker 1: spelled t I n d R Okay, like tinder for
- 9:51Speaker 1: a fire. And he's said tender like a chicken tender
- 9:54Speaker 1: or being tenderly. Sh I thought tender was like, oh,
- 9:59Speaker 1: you thought a dating app was tender. I thought it
- 10:01Speaker 1: was like a sexual way of saying find your chicken. No,
- 10:06Speaker 1: he's saying that because it's a dating app, like you're
- 10:09Speaker 1: gonna be tender with your lover, like tender tender moments.
- 10:15Speaker 1: It's more like tinder fuck buddies. That's right, right, Okay,
- 10:18Speaker 1: I get that now, right. Isn't tender the most of
- 10:22Speaker 1: all the apps? Daniel, I'm asking you because you're in
- 10:25Speaker 1: the know. Um, isn't tender the most? Like hook up
- 10:29Speaker 1: E one for straights for the straits for the Yes,
- 10:34Speaker 1: that shit made me laugh so hard on Ted Lasso?
- 10:37Speaker 1: Oh like Grinder And everybody's like, yeah, yeah, just like Grinder.
- 10:43Speaker 1: That shit's funny, you guys. Yes, I don't know. Bill.
- 10:47Speaker 1: I told Bill that you've that you came clean, um,
- 10:51Speaker 1: and then you you've been lying the whole time about
- 10:53Speaker 1: watching Ted Lasso. What did he say? He thought it
- 10:56Speaker 1: was very funny? I said, that tunneled came clean, and
- 11:02Speaker 1: then now he thinks it's the greatest shoe ever made.
- 11:04Speaker 1: And he said, oh, I got to come on and
- 11:06Speaker 1: uh and talk about that and make fun of him.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Can't wait anytime. Yeah, man's on fire Man so proud
- 11:13Speaker 1: of him. He's killing it. Yeah, okay, So then I
- 11:17Speaker 1: see you and I say, he's a decent In my defense,
- 11:22Speaker 1: Keith's a decent kisser. Right. So when I when I
- 11:26Speaker 1: it's I guess when I woke up, I left out
- 11:28Speaker 1: a pleasure moan, right. I mean it's a little bit
- 11:31Speaker 1: it's a little bit unclear, but it sounds like when
- 11:33Speaker 1: I want it wasn't just a cuddle. It sounds like
- 11:36Speaker 1: I woke up and we made out a little and
- 11:38Speaker 1: then I let out a pleasure moan. And and then
- 11:43Speaker 1: I say something like you say something like, whoa, don't
- 11:47Speaker 1: you have any college things where you almost hooked up
- 11:52Speaker 1: with a guy or were you drunkenly hooked up with
- 11:54Speaker 1: the guy. And then we look at each other, yes,
- 11:57Speaker 1: and we realize we can't hang out for about Yeah,
- 12:00Speaker 1: this is just a stupid story point to have you
- 12:02Speaker 1: hang out with Elliott and not me, I guess, But
- 12:04Speaker 1: we learned that we must have made out in college
- 12:07Speaker 1: and drunk, drunk out of our minds. We totally hooked up, shocking.
- 12:11Speaker 1: We had a sword fight. Have you ever had a
- 12:14Speaker 1: drunken sword fight with a man? No, I've never had
- 12:18Speaker 1: a drunken sword fight with a man. Sober, sober sword
- 12:21Speaker 1: fight story. Have you cross streams? Have you crossed streams? Well? Yeah,
- 12:27Speaker 1: when your kids, you always cross streams, don't you. Okay, Well,
- 12:30Speaker 1: we're all standing at the urinals. I've been there, I've been.
- 12:33Speaker 1: I used to try and freaking make it. I was like,
- 12:35Speaker 1: let's make it sort. When it connects, it looks like one.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Let's make our ropey streams one. Well, I don't know
- 12:47Speaker 1: about rope. Have you found that your stream isn't as
- 12:51Speaker 1: strong as it once was? Oh no, it's nowhere near
- 12:54Speaker 1: Like when I was in my twenties or early in
- 12:56Speaker 1: my teens, that ship was like fucking I know, I
- 12:58Speaker 1: miss a thick stream. I listen to my kid go
- 13:01Speaker 1: to the bathroom. That dude sounds like I know, it
- 13:03Speaker 1: sounds like a thunderous, Like it's raining and thunder and
- 13:07Speaker 1: lightning is outside. This is like and we're only forty
- 13:12Speaker 1: six and forty seven. What the fuck my ship comes
- 13:14Speaker 1: out and it's like droop, triple drop, triple dripple dripple drop,
- 13:21Speaker 1: especially in the morning when you wake up, Daniel, why
- 13:24Speaker 1: are you making that face? You're headed to this. So
- 13:26Speaker 1: if you haven't happened to you yet, just wait. I mean,
- 13:29Speaker 1: I'm certainly ready for it. I'm just saying, if it's
- 13:31Speaker 1: really dribble drop, you should probably talk to you know,
- 13:33Speaker 1: But that's what happens to seniors. But we're definitely definitely
- 13:37Speaker 1: at HASHTAGT six. You don't have a thick ropey stream.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Oh my god, it's like ropes. Yeah. All right, so
- 13:47Speaker 1: Cabbage is really a fucking mess as a doctor, right, yeah,
- 13:51Speaker 1: Well he's not only a mess as a doctor. He's
- 13:53Speaker 1: like he's I wouldn't say he's aloof because a loof
- 13:57Speaker 1: you kind of have a you have some would have
- 14:00Speaker 1: a knowledge that you're that you're fucking up. This dude
- 14:04Speaker 1: is oblivious completely to the fact though I did laugh
- 14:08Speaker 1: when he when he fucks up the IVY and I
- 14:10Speaker 1: got some one you look out a no, no, that's
- 14:12Speaker 1: some of of the fun that you can have, right,
- 14:14Speaker 1: but no, but look and the fact that Jad's covering
- 14:17Speaker 1: for this dude because he kind of reminds him of himself,
- 14:20Speaker 1: and you know, it's it's a very dangerous game that
- 14:24Speaker 1: he's playing because he does he doesn't like Keith because
- 14:27Speaker 1: Keith's banging Elliott. Like we're not really clear on why
- 14:30Speaker 1: he doesn't like Keith. Keith obviously because Keith's um. You know,
- 14:35Speaker 1: he's jealous that he's with Elliott, even though he wouldn't
- 14:37Speaker 1: say that. Keith's very handsome. He looks like a ken doll.
- 14:40Speaker 1: He's ripped, he's got abs and dynamite, ariolas and um.
- 14:46Speaker 1: We also learn from Cox that he's the best intern
- 14:49Speaker 1: that the hospital has. So for all these reasons, JD
- 14:54Speaker 1: is green with envy and uh and and wants to
- 14:57Speaker 1: wants to take him down right when real this dude
- 15:00Speaker 1: is probably going to be his I don't know if
- 15:02Speaker 1: Keith ever becomes an ally an ally or just JD
- 15:06Speaker 1: hate him throughout their whole, this whole relationship. We'll have
- 15:09Speaker 1: to watch the rest of the show. And now I'm
- 15:12Speaker 1: wondering how they break up because I knew they I
- 15:13Speaker 1: know they get serious at some point too. Well. Travis
- 15:17Speaker 1: did a good job. Travis did you know how you know,
- 15:19Speaker 1: you know how you know you're doing a good job
- 15:21Speaker 1: to keep giving you more and more episodes. Yeah, he's
- 15:24Speaker 1: really come a long way in like the three four
- 15:26Speaker 1: episodes that he's been in so far, he's already starting
- 15:29Speaker 1: to fit in pretty well, you can and yeah, and
- 15:30Speaker 1: you can also see that the actor himself gained confidence
- 15:33Speaker 1: and which, yeah, of course that would happen. You know.
- 15:37Speaker 1: You you come into this cast that's been doing this
- 15:40Speaker 1: for four and a half years and you're asked to
- 15:43Speaker 1: just you know, get up to speed and join them,
- 15:47Speaker 1: and it's it's intimidating, and I think Travis did a
- 15:49Speaker 1: really good job. Yes he did. Um missus Wilke is
- 15:52Speaker 1: finally going home and Judy gets her a giant card.
- 15:56Speaker 1: I give a courtesy laugh, but I'm way more excited
- 15:59Speaker 1: to present my present, which is a DVD of famous
- 16:02Speaker 1: centers because she likes basketball. And you even got it signed,
- 16:07Speaker 1: got it signed by Kareem Abdul Jabbar. And everything's going
- 16:11Speaker 1: great until Keith comes in and his father plays flag
- 16:16Speaker 1: football with the actual Kareem Abdul Jabbar. I guess so
- 16:20Speaker 1: that which is hilarious, which is hilarious in itself. Karema
- 16:24Speaker 1: Abdul Jabbar playing flag football? First? How long are the
- 16:27Speaker 1: flags too? Who's he playing with? Because how is anybody
- 16:31Speaker 1: going to even be able to reach up and grab
- 16:33Speaker 1: said flags? I don't know, but I love the Kareem
- 16:35Speaker 1: Abdul Jabbar likes to act because, as we know, he
- 16:38Speaker 1: was in the airplane films. Yes, he was just on
- 16:40Speaker 1: Dave the TV show. I don't know, so did you?
- 16:44Speaker 1: By the way, you see the most recent Dave. It's
- 16:46Speaker 1: really bizarre and good where he goes to work with
- 16:49Speaker 1: the famous Yeah, great episode. I love that, really good episode.
- 16:54Speaker 1: You're not watching it again? Huh? I have yet to
- 16:55Speaker 1: watch Dave. I can't listen. Have you learned any lesson
- 16:58Speaker 1: from us begging you to watch so and now you
- 17:00Speaker 1: love it? Is there any lesson that you could learn
- 17:02Speaker 1: that maybe you'd try Dave? I mean, it's about rap,
- 17:08Speaker 1: it's about rap. That mean that doesn't mean much to me.
- 17:10Speaker 1: It's not Wu tang, it's Wu tang on it no
- 17:15Speaker 1: woo tanks forever. Remember that Dave is temporary. I'm gonna
- 17:18Speaker 1: guess tang. Let me guess the pads are still not labeled.
- 17:21Speaker 1: Let me guess what you're trying to get into no
- 17:24Speaker 1: Wu Tang forever, Woo Tang forever until little Dickie has
- 17:29Speaker 1: Wou Tang on the show. I'm not interested. Okay, I
- 17:33Speaker 1: don't know. I don't know. I don't doubt bullshit. I
- 17:36Speaker 1: just haven't think. I just I just thought you may
- 17:38Speaker 1: have learned a lesson when you got when you had
- 17:40Speaker 1: this epiphany you went. You guys begged me for so long,
- 17:42Speaker 1: and I loved Ted Lasso. You know what I did
- 17:44Speaker 1: start watching was Doogie Howser. Why because why not? That
- 17:51Speaker 1: shit holds up? Man? That shit is a freaking that shit.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Of all the things on television, I don't understand why,
- 17:56Speaker 1: of all things, you chose Dougie hows Or no offense
- 17:58Speaker 1: to Dogie Dodd Dude, that ship is fire. Yeah, it
- 18:16Speaker 1: literally it really does hold up. What doesn't hold up
- 18:19Speaker 1: is the little uh typing at the end. Yeah, when
- 18:22Speaker 1: he writes in his journal. Yeah, it's it's good in
- 18:25Speaker 1: the beginning, like in the first season and the second
- 18:27Speaker 1: season by the end of it not so much. But
- 18:30Speaker 1: why you decided to binge Dougie Howser, I just don't know.
- 18:33Speaker 1: I don't know if you tried any adult programs. Doogie
- 18:37Speaker 1: houses not for adults. I think Dougie Howser is meant
- 18:40Speaker 1: to inspire teens. I like. I don't know then what
- 18:48Speaker 1: you like. You like what I like? What I like?
- 18:50Speaker 1: I think you might like Dave because it has a
- 18:52Speaker 1: lot of things you like. You said that about Atlanta
- 18:55Speaker 1: I didn't like. I didn't like Atlanta. Okay, you don't
- 18:57Speaker 1: like a little well, look, Joel almost fell off her chair.
- 18:59Speaker 1: Look at it. I don't go fuck how everybody feels
- 19:02Speaker 1: about that shit. I like what I like. It's just
- 19:04Speaker 1: that simple, allowed Joe, you need a fan. Joel is
- 19:08Speaker 1: like a woman who needs to be fans right now,
- 19:10Speaker 1: I feel like I didn't need any fan a little
- 19:12Speaker 1: bit because it's maybe one of the most ingenious original shows.
- 19:16Speaker 1: Degree I didn't. I didn't hate Atlanta. I just didn't
- 19:19Speaker 1: have time for it. You know that's how it goes.
- 19:21Speaker 1: Let's move onward. Okay, Okay, listen, doogie howser all day
- 19:25Speaker 1: every day, just like Wu Tang forever. Baby, I'm gonna
- 19:28Speaker 1: need doogie howser all day every day on the soundboard.
- 19:33Speaker 1: We could. I'm sure we could get Neil Patrick Harris
- 19:35Speaker 1: to come on and talk. I would love to have
- 19:37Speaker 1: Neil Patrick Harris on the show to talk about I
- 19:40Speaker 1: told him to his face. I told him to his face.
- 19:42Speaker 1: I was like, listen, man, you don't know doogie howser.
- 19:44Speaker 1: When I was a kid, I fucking wrote for real.
- 19:47Speaker 1: I was righte and die doogie howser fan man Like, okay,
- 19:50Speaker 1: well everything. He went on to his representatives and see
- 19:53Speaker 1: if he'll come on. He's busy. That dude works, he
- 19:55Speaker 1: does so much. But if he does, I'll be married.
- 19:57Speaker 1: There's a lot of things, but this is a very
- 19:59Speaker 1: popular po podcast. Donald, we can get anyone you what
- 20:02Speaker 1: do you want the rock? Tom Cruise, We can get anybody.
- 20:04Speaker 1: You could get the rock. We can be sure we
- 20:07Speaker 1: could get the rock. Yes, Joelle, don't make that face.
- 20:09Speaker 1: I could get the rock. I know the rock. You know.
- 20:13Speaker 1: I would love to have the face was could the
- 20:15Speaker 1: rock and I'd be on the same zoom call. That
- 20:17Speaker 1: was blowing my mind a little bit. Yeah, that automatically
- 20:20Speaker 1: makes me want to smile like my kids, like just
- 20:23Speaker 1: the rock on the same zoom call as me and
- 20:26Speaker 1: me be I just it's just okay, get the rock.
- 20:30Speaker 1: If you could get the rock, if you could get
- 20:31Speaker 1: this would be The Rock has nothing to do with
- 20:33Speaker 1: Scrubs at least you've brought on. You brought up Neil
- 20:36Speaker 1: Patrick Carris as a show you loved and are binging
- 20:39Speaker 1: now for some reason, I could get him. But if
- 20:42Speaker 1: you can get The Rock and Kevin Hart, that would
- 20:45Speaker 1: make my life. If you like to do the impossible,
- 20:50Speaker 1: I like to do the impossible. Or if you could
- 20:52Speaker 1: get Snoop Dog that would be the best day of them. Now.
- 20:54Speaker 1: I don't think Snoop Dogs right, I would smoke weed
- 20:57Speaker 1: with Snoop Dog and you all. That would be the
- 21:00Speaker 1: I don't know if the I don't know if the
- 21:01Speaker 1: listeners really want to listen to you baked talking to
- 21:04Speaker 1: Snoop Dogg. But maybe they don't they do. How could
- 21:07Speaker 1: you not want to listen to me baked with Snoop
- 21:09Speaker 1: Dog all right? For chizzel? So then, um, it turns
- 21:14Speaker 1: out that Keith Kareem i'mszl Jabar says that that's not
- 21:17Speaker 1: my signature on the DVD. Apparently JD has forged his signature.
- 21:23Speaker 1: He's giving this will a DVD present and he's he's
- 21:26Speaker 1: chosen to forge Kareem I'm Duel Jabbar's signature. Yes, and uh,
- 21:31Speaker 1: and then I pretend that he's mentally disturbed, and I
- 21:34Speaker 1: say back to the psych ward mister Rosenberg, is that
- 21:38Speaker 1: what that joke was? You didn't understand it. I didn't
- 21:41Speaker 1: get it because he said, I think everybody knew that
- 21:45Speaker 1: that was Kareem abdul Jabbar. So I don't know. That's
- 21:47Speaker 1: why JD's pretending that he's a mentally ill man who's
- 21:50Speaker 1: pretending to be Kareem. I'm Duel Jabbar. So I say
- 21:54Speaker 1: back to the psych ward mister Rosenberg, Oh my gosh,
- 21:58Speaker 1: you're just getting that. Gosh. I just didn't see the
- 22:02Speaker 1: connection because it's clear that it's Kareem abdul Jabbar. And
- 22:05Speaker 1: I know that's what's so stupid about the joke. That's
- 22:07Speaker 1: what's so stupid about JD Man j D. Does JD
- 22:10Speaker 1: not realize that it's Kareem abdul Jabar. J D feels
- 22:14Speaker 1: that he can he can sway the room. Yes, he
- 22:18Speaker 1: can say the room. He can he can plant a
- 22:23Speaker 1: seed of doubt in Miss Wild's mind. Why do we
- 22:27Speaker 1: Miss Wolke is not nearly is impressed, and she should
- 22:29Speaker 1: have been that Kareem abdul Jabar walked into it. He
- 22:32Speaker 1: seemed pretty impressed. He was real happy, I know, but
- 22:34Speaker 1: I mean then the subject got changed and we're all
- 22:36Speaker 1: just talking to Kareem. No one's flipping out. I mean,
- 22:40Speaker 1: he's such a cool dude too, man like after scrub
- 22:43Speaker 1: I met him once before Scrubs and he was nice.
- 22:45Speaker 1: But after Scrubs, every time I see him, he always
- 22:48Speaker 1: says high And if you know Kareem, he doesn't always
- 22:52Speaker 1: do that, you know what I mean, Like, hell, there
- 22:54Speaker 1: are a lot of people that have asked Kareem for
- 22:56Speaker 1: autographs and stuff, and he doesn't do that. He's like,
- 22:58Speaker 1: I'd rather shake your hand because that feels more personable,
- 23:01Speaker 1: Like that's more, that's more of a connection, right, And uh,
- 23:05Speaker 1: every time I see him, I'll be like, hey, Kareem,
- 23:07Speaker 1: and he'll stop and go, hey man, how's it going,
- 23:09Speaker 1: And then he'll turn around and keep going. But and
- 23:11Speaker 1: keep walking. That's a that's a luxury. Not a lot
- 23:15Speaker 1: of people get that, and I'm very happy to say
- 23:17Speaker 1: I get that. And I hope you've reached hello. How
- 23:19Speaker 1: are you status? Yeah? Yeah, yeah, with the with the
- 23:22Speaker 1: great I know you're not going to watch the show.
- 23:24Speaker 1: But he also get a very funny cameo bizarre bizarre
- 23:28Speaker 1: guest appearance on Dave. But apparently the man, I mean, clearly,
- 23:31Speaker 1: the man likes to act because he's he's on a
- 23:33Speaker 1: lot of stuff. He's a fabulous writer. He's a wonderful writer, right,
- 23:37Speaker 1: and he's a wonderful, wonderful activist too, like an amazing activist.
- 23:41Speaker 1: Mick Head is out of prison and handing out orange jumpsuits, yes,
- 23:47Speaker 1: which makes it so that you know, we're in California.
- 23:52Speaker 1: California is can't be the only place with orange jumpsuits
- 23:55Speaker 1: in New York. It's like stripes with freaking the jail,
- 24:00Speaker 1: but orange jumpsuit is sort of like a trope of
- 24:02Speaker 1: a prison guard. But I think I don't know, you
- 24:05Speaker 1: know what, I don't know, but I believe that's the color.
- 24:07Speaker 1: You're Well's gonna look it up for you. But I
- 24:10Speaker 1: feel like there's a lot of that's just you know,
- 24:12Speaker 1: when people say they want someone to go to jail,
- 24:14Speaker 1: they're like, oh, I can't wait to see that guy
- 24:15Speaker 1: in orange jumpsuit. Okay, I truly believe I could be wrong,
- 24:20Speaker 1: but I do believe that it is You're Well is
- 24:22Speaker 1: researching where orange jumpsuits come from. Yeah, Arizona Department of
- 24:27Speaker 1: Corrections has it, and also in Australia. That's it. Arizona,
- 24:33Speaker 1: California and Australia are the only places where they have
- 24:36Speaker 1: orange jumps Why are you so sure about that? According
- 24:38Speaker 1: to Wikipedia, in the United States, to make a skate
- 24:41Speaker 1: more difficult, prison uniforms in the United States often consists
- 24:44Speaker 1: of a distinctive orange jumpsuit, and then they have different
- 24:47Speaker 1: colors for different levels of Uh. I never I never
- 24:52Speaker 1: put two and two together. That was to prevent escape.
- 24:54Speaker 1: That's that's part of it, and that's why they The
- 24:56Speaker 1: other one is striped so you stand out. I bought
- 24:59Speaker 1: I bought an orange sweatsuit. I immediately decided I wasn't
- 25:03Speaker 1: gonna wear it anymore because people were looking at me
- 25:07Speaker 1: a little funny. I think you escaped like I escaped
- 25:10Speaker 1: from the jail, from the prison system. Okay, Now, this
- 25:13Speaker 1: crow thing is so fucking stupid. I mean, I don't
- 25:16Speaker 1: even understand. Far be it from me to criticize the
- 25:20Speaker 1: master Bill, but this was the funniest part of the
- 25:22Speaker 1: episode to me. You didn't like it. The crow then
- 25:26Speaker 1: fucking through the pin at cocks and dropped and then
- 25:29Speaker 1: cox those the bed, pant at your face. Yeah, the
- 25:32Speaker 1: crow comes into the wrong room. The crow comes into
- 25:35Speaker 1: the wrong room, and he turned from he said, I
- 25:37Speaker 1: said one thirty six, and then he looks at the
- 25:39Speaker 1: sign and it's one thirty six and he stands. Corrected.
- 25:42Speaker 1: You didn't laugh at this ship, dude, I'm always stone
- 25:46Speaker 1: when I watched this show. This is one of the
- 25:48Speaker 1: best shows to watch. The Okay, but I thought you
- 25:50Speaker 1: said you were on a weed break, so I was like,
- 25:52Speaker 1: I am on a weed break. I don't smoke it
- 25:55Speaker 1: when we do the podcast anymore. Oh okay. You told
- 25:58Speaker 1: me that you liked it better when I didn't smoke
- 26:00Speaker 1: on the podcast, because I do. I do, yes, right,
- 26:04Speaker 1: So I decided before the podcast, I'm not going to smoke. Smoke. Okay,
- 26:08Speaker 1: good now, I said, I I'm just conflating my watching
- 26:12Speaker 1: viewing experience with yours because I usually watch right before
- 26:15Speaker 1: we I do not. I okay, all right, yeah, now, yes,
- 26:19Speaker 1: this is very stern or friendly. The crow and I
- 26:21Speaker 1: was not partaking. I'm not surprised that you found it
- 26:25Speaker 1: hilarious that shit was fucking the janitor the trains. The
- 26:34Speaker 1: crow was already trained because he said, let's see what
- 26:36Speaker 1: else you can do. The crow made tiny furniture freeze.
- 26:41Speaker 1: The crow lives in an old Christmas wreath. Yes, and
- 26:45Speaker 1: the crow, amongst many things, understands English, understands commands. I
- 26:51Speaker 1: also understand the art of mine, free me, the art
- 26:55Speaker 1: of mine. The fucking crow pretended to be dead at
- 26:58Speaker 1: the end of the I wouldn't have said the art
- 26:59Speaker 1: of the crow. The crow knows how to prodicta. The
- 27:04Speaker 1: crow knows how to play possum. And it got like
- 27:06Speaker 1: flicked in the head by Kelso and even getting plucked,
- 27:09Speaker 1: and even gets plucked and freaking stays still. I wish
- 27:17Speaker 1: the chrome made more episode appearances. Oh my god, why
- 27:20Speaker 1: does the crow? Why does the janitor speak Spanish to
- 27:22Speaker 1: the crow? Because he named the crow Sanchez? How do
- 27:26Speaker 1: we not Sanchez Sanchez, just like raccoon, cent Chez, raccoon,
- 27:38Speaker 1: raccoon and Sentez. Dear listener, I hope that if you
- 27:42Speaker 1: need to say the word raccoon, you say it raccoon,
- 27:45Speaker 1: right that shit have me roll? And I wish sin
- 27:48Speaker 1: Chez would make more episode appearances. Well, here you go, guys,
- 27:52Speaker 1: this is the difference between two different viewing experiences. But Sanchez,
- 28:00Speaker 1: how about when Todd comes in. Funniest part of the
- 28:08Speaker 1: episode by far is Todd coming in with the green
- 28:12Speaker 1: infection um tint on his anus and his mouth and
- 28:17Speaker 1: this and this and his crotch area. I didn't see
- 28:20Speaker 1: it on his crotch. I saw him his butt cheeps
- 28:21Speaker 1: and his mouth. So and then he says, he says
- 28:24Speaker 1: he loves Chinatown. Now that this is where I have issues.
- 28:28Speaker 1: Was this his first time ever going to Chinatown? Well,
- 28:32Speaker 1: what I inferred was that he went to Chinatown and
- 28:35Speaker 1: went to a brothel and partook with both men and
- 28:39Speaker 1: women for the first time. Yes, because he's he said,
- 28:48Speaker 1: he acts like he's never been to Chinatown. Chinatown is awesome.
- 28:52Speaker 1: That's pretty much. And I guess, I guess it could
- 28:55Speaker 1: have only been a woman, but there was clearly ass
- 28:57Speaker 1: play so ay and made me. It made me think
- 29:01Speaker 1: that there was also some male. We know that Todd
- 29:04Speaker 1: is is fluid, so I assumed in my mind that
- 29:11Speaker 1: the Todd went to a brothel that had both um
- 29:15Speaker 1: Asian men and women and he hung out with them both. Yes,
- 29:20Speaker 1: and yes, all right, So I won't let Keith, because
- 29:27Speaker 1: I'm such a prick, go to his grandmother's funeral. Yeah,
- 29:32Speaker 1: I say, Keith, Keith, I realize you'd like to go
- 29:35Speaker 1: to your grandmother's funeral on Saturday. Heck, we all would.
- 29:39Speaker 1: But you can't just take a day off whenever you
- 29:41Speaker 1: feel like it. And then we learned that Cabbage is
- 29:46Speaker 1: allowed to go to what the zoo? No see No
- 29:50Speaker 1: to see King Kong? Yeah, something like that. Yeah, because
- 29:54Speaker 1: he's an ape enthusiast. Yes, because well he's an ape enthusiast.
- 29:58Speaker 1: And then Cabbage does a very funny guerrilla impression. By
- 30:04Speaker 1: the way, this episode was directed by John Itedwood, our
- 30:06Speaker 1: cinematographer for All eight In eight years. Yeah, um, I
- 30:11Speaker 1: have a question to ask you. Is it John's first
- 30:14Speaker 1: episode directing? Probably not, you look that up for me.
- 30:18Speaker 1: I imagine he was directing, but he got to direct before.
- 30:22Speaker 1: But there's some cool trick shots, you know, with the
- 30:24Speaker 1: bed pan and and the crow that John came up with. Obviously,
- 30:27Speaker 1: King he did a really good job on this. Um. Yeah,
- 30:31Speaker 1: I just want to ask you one question. You I
- 30:34Speaker 1: need you to be honest with me. Go ahead. When
- 30:36Speaker 1: Cox mentioned doctor Acula, did you get excited? Yes? Me, yeah,
- 30:45Speaker 1: so excited, got so excited and it doesn't go anywhere.
- 30:49Speaker 1: I don't know why Bill decided to have Why in
- 30:52Speaker 1: what a world would Cox read the Doctor Acula screenplay?
- 30:56Speaker 1: I have no idea, but the fact that he doesn't
- 30:59Speaker 1: think it's no. And then I asked him if he
- 31:02Speaker 1: liked I asked him if he liked the Transylvania dream sequence.
- 31:06Speaker 1: He didn't want to talk about it. No, he was
- 31:08Speaker 1: out of compliments after that. Yeah, that was it. But
- 31:11Speaker 1: I imagine he did. I think he wonder why. I
- 31:15Speaker 1: really wonder why Cox took the time to read Doctor Acula.
- 31:19Speaker 1: He read the whole screenplay. Yeah, but he but that
- 31:22Speaker 1: was all he was gonna give JD. He was not
- 31:24Speaker 1: going to comment on the Transylvania dreams. All right, speaking
- 31:30Speaker 1: of dream sequence, this this is arguably the best in
- 31:34Speaker 1: the world, last, the best, and the weirdest. I laughed
- 31:38Speaker 1: so hard at the fact that these two are bathing
- 31:40Speaker 1: a pumpkin. All Right, Wait, we gotta go slowly. This
- 31:44Speaker 1: is John's fourth episode. Sorry, he did My Lucky Night,
- 31:47Speaker 1: her Story and my boss's free haircut. That shows you
- 31:50Speaker 1: how I'm no Trevor WICKI everybody, this is John's fourth episode.
- 31:53Speaker 1: We're going to talk about probably the weirdest fantasy in
- 31:56Speaker 1: Scrub's history. Maybe up there top ten me come right
- 32:00Speaker 1: back after this break and we're bad, bad from bad break.
- 32:13Speaker 1: Welcome ever, Welcome back break, doctors, real friends, welcomes you
- 32:21Speaker 1: back from that break. Did you like um? Did I
- 32:27Speaker 1: send you me singing um? Lame is with my friend Preston?
- 32:30Speaker 1: I really did enjoy that. Preston, Well, it's clear who's
- 32:34Speaker 1: the Broadway performer and who Why do you gotta Why
- 32:36Speaker 1: do you gonna fucking turn this into a diss of me?
- 32:38Speaker 1: It's not a disc it's just a Preston is really
- 32:41Speaker 1: fucking good. Yeah, but he's playing fucking javert on the
- 32:44Speaker 1: national tour. I can't sing like that, but I thought
- 32:47Speaker 1: I held my decent owned community theater self. I wouldn't
- 32:51Speaker 1: say community, I would say more high school. Oh my god,
- 32:57Speaker 1: I'm pissed. You know what, Joel and Daniel, I'm gonna
- 32:59Speaker 1: send you this video, my buddy. It's it's really good,
- 33:02Speaker 1: It really it's good. And here's it. No, here's the
- 33:04Speaker 1: honest and goodness thing. Zach sings on it. And when
- 33:07Speaker 1: he sings, I was like, very good, Zach. But then
- 33:09Speaker 1: he made the mistake of sending his buddy singing on
- 33:12Speaker 1: it too, and then it was like, oh no, here's
- 33:15Speaker 1: what happened, my buddy. The difference, My buddy Preston is
- 33:18Speaker 1: staying with me. Okay. He is an amazing Broadway singer
- 33:23Speaker 1: and piano player and tap dancer, and he can do anything.
- 33:26Speaker 1: He's a he's like a straight up like a straight
- 33:29Speaker 1: up performer. There's nothing you can do. When he walks
- 33:31Speaker 1: into a room and they say, oh, which park you sing?
- 33:34Speaker 1: Barrett's owe tenor soprano, He's like, which sing? He has
- 33:39Speaker 1: the sickest range ever. And he before COVID shut earth
- 33:42Speaker 1: down was playing Javert in limb Is on the national tour.
- 33:47Speaker 1: He has he has that, he has that kind of voice.
- 33:50Speaker 1: So we're hanging out on my piano and we start
- 33:54Speaker 1: singing one of the confrontation between Jean Valjean scenes together
- 34:00Speaker 1: and Josh Raden was here and he started videotaping it
- 34:03Speaker 1: and I kind of did okay, And I didn't know
- 34:06Speaker 1: you did great. Hold on, don't get it twisted. You
- 34:09Speaker 1: did great. It's just that when he sings, it's a jump.
- 34:15Speaker 1: That's all. Okay, I get it. I'm not saying you suck.
- 34:18Speaker 1: I was very impressed. I was like, look gone, Zach gone.
- 34:22Speaker 1: That's like saying when you if you're hanging out with
- 34:25Speaker 1: your buddy Savion Glover and you're doing moves and it
- 34:28Speaker 1: looks goods when I'm so easy, I'm see. That's the
- 34:34Speaker 1: difference between you and Isaac. I know when to say, yea,
- 34:36Speaker 1: you're absolutely right about that. He did fucking shut me down.
- 34:39Speaker 1: I could take it. You can't. You're Zach. You're you're
- 34:43Speaker 1: Zach Braff. It can't be that way. I'm gonna send
- 34:45Speaker 1: Daniel and Joel this video and their response is not
- 34:48Speaker 1: going to be yes. Your voice is not as good
- 34:52Speaker 1: as Preston's. Their reaction is going to be not bad, Zach.
- 34:56Speaker 1: But I didn't say you were bad. I didn't say
- 34:58Speaker 1: not bad. I said it was great. I said great.
- 35:02Speaker 1: I should eat you know what you should eat? Let
- 35:04Speaker 1: me guess a bag of dicks. No, it's gonna say
- 35:07Speaker 1: d's nuts, all right, the pumpkin fantasy. So let's just
- 35:12Speaker 1: go through this, Okay, after dicks, Donald, let's go slow. Okay,
- 35:18Speaker 1: your character, JD is a fantasy that Turk won't be
- 35:21Speaker 1: a good parent. Because Carlos says Turk won't be a
- 35:24Speaker 1: good parent Carlos says it, Oh, sometimes I worry about
- 35:28Speaker 1: you being a father's Yes, okay, So in the fantasy,
- 35:32Speaker 1: you I'm on my way home from picking up the
- 35:35Speaker 1: hollow on the pumpkin from the pumpkin patch, and you
- 35:38Speaker 1: leave the baby at the pumpkin patch, where another person
- 35:41Speaker 1: finds the baby and takes them and raises the baby
- 35:44Speaker 1: on its own right. Bring the baby home, yes, Carla.
- 35:48Speaker 1: When Turk brings the baby home, Carlos says, well, it
- 35:53Speaker 1: is cute. Yes, And you use a couple decide that
- 35:57Speaker 1: you're not concerned about your real human baby no longer
- 36:00Speaker 1: gonna You're gonna raise this pumpkin as your child. We're
- 36:03Speaker 1: gonna raise this pumpkin. Okay, So you raise the pumpkin.
- 36:09Speaker 1: We see the first bath, We see the first we
- 36:12Speaker 1: see the pumpkin playing little League and get by a pitch. Yes,
- 36:16Speaker 1: a lot, by the way, a lot of time was
- 36:17Speaker 1: put into this fantasy, but usually the fantasies are like
- 36:20Speaker 1: quick pops. This was this took a lot of photography.
- 36:23Speaker 1: This was a day of filming. It plays little League
- 36:26Speaker 1: and then and then we see at the college graduation
- 36:30Speaker 1: with the pumpkin. No, the high school graduation with the pumpkin.
- 36:34Speaker 1: I think it is okay, I think yes, high school graduation, right,
- 36:39Speaker 1: and you're it's wearing a it's wearing a cap. Yes,
- 36:42Speaker 1: it's it's graduated. It's graduating. And then you dropped the pumpkin. Yes,
- 36:48Speaker 1: and the pumpkins splatters all or shattered, right, whatever it is.
- 36:53Speaker 1: Pumpkin's destroyed. And while you and Judy are mourning the
- 36:56Speaker 1: death of the pumpkin, well, we think we could save
- 36:59Speaker 1: it by putting back together. Right, Turk's actual kid, Junior,
- 37:04Speaker 1: Christopher Junior comes around this corner. Yes, he comes and
- 37:08Speaker 1: recognizes his mother and dead father. Yes, he while he
- 37:11Speaker 1: looks exactly like his father, right, And he recognizes them,
- 37:15Speaker 1: and he's so thrilled there's finally going to be a reunion.
- 37:18Speaker 1: All of this. He doesn't seem upset that he was
- 37:20Speaker 1: left to the pumpkin patch. He's just too excited to
- 37:22Speaker 1: see them, and they're excited to see him, also knowing,
- 37:26Speaker 1: holy shit, Okay, the pumpkin died. The pumpkin that we
- 37:29Speaker 1: decided we were going to raise instead of looking for
- 37:31Speaker 1: our son, the pumpkin that we decided we were going
- 37:33Speaker 1: to raise instead of looking for our son has now died.
- 37:36Speaker 1: Fuck that thing. Yeah, the real deal has finally real.
- 37:40Speaker 1: The prodigy son returned. Yes, and you lovingly because you're
- 37:44Speaker 1: so thrilled, call him towards you. Yeah, come to me, Son,
- 37:48Speaker 1: You get your butt right over here. And then in
- 37:51Speaker 1: crossing the street, he gets run over by a bus.
- 37:56Speaker 1: And it makes the day even worse because not only
- 37:59Speaker 1: did we lose was the pumpkin that we decided to
- 38:02Speaker 1: raise instead of looking for our kidnaps son. Yeah, we
- 38:06Speaker 1: also lost the son that returned to us. You've lost
- 38:09Speaker 1: both sons? Yes, Donald, can you remember you well? Daniel,
- 38:14Speaker 1: can you remember another fantasy that went on that long
- 38:17Speaker 1: in Scrub's history. I think that's the longest one. Yeah.
- 38:21Speaker 1: Maybe no, no, because I can't remember any of that
- 38:24Speaker 1: change location even dude. It goes from it's in the car.
- 38:28Speaker 1: It's not only in the car, it's at the pumpkin patch.
- 38:31Speaker 1: The shot it for a full day, full day of work.
- 38:34Speaker 1: I remember, I remember you. You never forget this ship.
- 38:37Speaker 1: You never forget when you're like wait, I didn't understand it.
- 38:41Speaker 1: I was like, let me get this straight. The pumpkin
- 38:44Speaker 1: is our kid and they were like yeah. I was like,
- 38:48Speaker 1: all right, whatever you say. I liked him in this
- 38:52Speaker 1: little uh graduation gown. Yeah, cut the fact that the
- 38:57Speaker 1: fucker graduated high school. What about when the picture hits
- 39:01Speaker 1: him in the in the helmet, in the head, and
- 39:03Speaker 1: you and Judy get all mad like and tell him
- 39:06Speaker 1: to rush the mount. That pumpkin is not gonna rush
- 39:08Speaker 1: the mount. Yeah, the pumpkin can't move. How did the
- 39:11Speaker 1: pumpkin get up to bat? I'm sure someone placed him there.
- 39:14Speaker 1: How did the pumpkin? How did the pumpkin get the
- 39:16Speaker 1: hat on and the bat and the tense like? How
- 39:19Speaker 1: did the pumpkin successfully attend high school? Let's let's let's
- 39:24Speaker 1: let's let me let me let's just say this. Let's
- 39:27Speaker 1: say the pumpkin does get a hit. Let's just let's
- 39:31Speaker 1: just say that this happens. How does the probably it'll
- 39:34Speaker 1: probably a bunt. How did the pumpkin get from first
- 39:36Speaker 1: base to from home plate to first base? Maybe they're
- 39:39Speaker 1: allowed to roll him like a bowling ball. There you go.
- 39:44Speaker 1: Maybe that maybe because he's special, they have an agreement
- 39:48Speaker 1: that they can roll him to first base. The pumpkin
- 39:50Speaker 1: graduated high school? How the fun did the pumpkin make
- 39:54Speaker 1: it through math? I don't know, but I just gotta
- 39:57Speaker 1: say this. This, I think in five years that we've
- 40:00Speaker 1: watched so far, is uh one of the most bizarre.
- 40:03Speaker 1: I know. We've got other one in Bizarre's other more
- 40:05Speaker 1: bizarre ones coming up, including when you're a goat turk.
- 40:08Speaker 1: Goat Turk's coming through. Not only goat turk, I'm fucking
- 40:17Speaker 1: don't I become a plant too. There's plant turk too. Yeah, yeah,
- 40:23Speaker 1: there's plant turks, plant turk. I don't know, I don't know.
- 40:33Speaker 1: I think I think they grew him from my missing nut.
- 40:37Speaker 1: Oh that's right. We plant your nuts. Yeah, that's right,
- 40:40Speaker 1: that's right. We plant your we we plant your your
- 40:45Speaker 1: removed testicle, and and it grows into plant turk. And
- 40:50Speaker 1: in one episode, don't I have a testicle that is uh,
- 40:55Speaker 1: that's warm, that's warm, that's like a radiator. And Robin
- 40:58Speaker 1: and Rob and I Rob you and and and Cox
- 41:01Speaker 1: and doctor Cox we gather around it for her camping.
- 41:12Speaker 1: He said that he doesn't have a nickname, and he says,
- 41:17Speaker 1: Jad says not everyone can just come up with the nickname.
- 41:19Speaker 1: He says, my last name is dude meister, and then
- 41:23Speaker 1: Cox says, you think the dude meister. You wait, you're
- 41:26Speaker 1: talking about the dude March. He's one of the best
- 41:28Speaker 1: in turns in here and you go, the name's too long.
- 41:30Speaker 1: It's never gonna stick. It's too long. Yeah. Amongst showing
- 41:35Speaker 1: Cabbage's mistakes, they do a little riff on the X
- 41:39Speaker 1: ray being backwards, which comes from our title sequence where
- 41:43Speaker 1: the where everyone in the medical community likes to tell
- 41:46Speaker 1: us that the X ray in the title sequence is backwards.
- 41:50Speaker 1: I like to believe. I know that we've had Bill
- 41:53Speaker 1: on here and we've asked him about it, and he
- 41:54Speaker 1: said it was an accident, but then it turned. But
- 41:57Speaker 1: then he said that they you know, it's always well,
- 42:01Speaker 1: I've always said purpose, I've I think it was not
- 42:04Speaker 1: on purpose, There's no way, but I think that I've
- 42:06Speaker 1: always said, well, I've rationalized it by saying, oh, that
- 42:08Speaker 1: makes sense because they're interns. They're fucking up. Also, it's scrubs,
- 42:12Speaker 1: it's a comedy, right, But this I thought it was
- 42:14Speaker 1: a clever comeback. When they were brainstorming for ideas for
- 42:18Speaker 1: Cabbage to have a fuck up, one of them involved
- 42:20Speaker 1: a lung X ray backwards. Right. Um, when we see
- 42:25Speaker 1: Rob his peep, you can see a bounce again. Um
- 42:30Speaker 1: in the locker room. I don't know if you notice,
- 42:32Speaker 1: it's not it's not held down, it's not it's not like, um,
- 42:36Speaker 1: what do you know when you have a pickup truck
- 42:37Speaker 1: and you sort of ratchet strap things to the bed. Yeah,
- 42:41Speaker 1: well Rob's cock needs ratchet straps because it's bouncing. Joel,
- 42:49Speaker 1: didn't you notice it bounces? It was definitely doing a
- 42:53Speaker 1: lot of work. Yeah, this is like, this is this
- 42:59Speaker 1: is what I but this is crazy man. On NBC
- 43:02Speaker 1: they allowed this. You wouldn't be able to see this
- 43:05Speaker 1: on ABC Man NBC they were like, it's bouncing in
- 43:08Speaker 1: it's bouncing in the banana hammock. So what we don't care.
- 43:11Speaker 1: I would have thought that they would have tied it
- 43:13Speaker 1: down to his leg or just really somehow braced it.
- 43:20Speaker 1: But in this scene where he's doing the rat tail. Yeah,
- 43:24Speaker 1: and I told you guys. I told you guys that
- 43:25Speaker 1: there's a picture out there of a Loma and fucking
- 43:31Speaker 1: Judy looking at that penis. I thought on Instagram that
- 43:37Speaker 1: wasn't even straight straight at ye listen, don't at me.
- 43:44Speaker 1: But fix You is one of the most beautiful songs ever.
- 43:46Speaker 1: Oh it's great. Oh, such a good song. I just
- 43:50Speaker 1: I just like how many I've heard Fix You an
- 43:54Speaker 1: infinite number of times, And I started playing in this
- 43:57Speaker 1: episode and I got goose bumps down all my legs.
- 44:01Speaker 1: It's just such a noble song, you know what I mean.
- 44:04Speaker 1: It's so noble. It's a it's a man realizing that
- 44:11Speaker 1: the love of his life is hurting so bad because
- 44:13Speaker 1: of her loss. Right, is that what it's about? It
- 44:16Speaker 1: that he wrote for Gwyneth Paltrow when her father died, right, Yes,
- 44:19Speaker 1: And he's trying to and he's like, I'll fix you,
- 44:22Speaker 1: knowing that he can't. The only thing that I'll try, Yeah,
- 44:25Speaker 1: the only thing that can fix her is time, you know. Yeah.
- 44:29Speaker 1: It's such a beautiful song. And I've seen a lot
- 44:31Speaker 1: of Coldplay concerts, and it's you know how bands rotate
- 44:36Speaker 1: all their songs. They always play fix You, and they
- 44:39Speaker 1: do it in the most amazing way. Because actually, if
- 44:42Speaker 1: you've never seen the video for fix You, go on
- 44:45Speaker 1: YouTube and check it out because it's really cool. It's
- 44:47Speaker 1: sort of shows you a little bit about what they
- 44:50Speaker 1: do in the show because the videos. As the song
- 44:53Speaker 1: starts slow, Chris Martin's alone and he's sort of walking
- 44:56Speaker 1: in through the streets and he's singing, you know, very simply.
- 45:00Speaker 1: And then as the as it builds and builds, he
- 45:02Speaker 1: starts sprinting right, and he sprints and then he sprints
- 45:06Speaker 1: into the arena and he runs out on stage to
- 45:09Speaker 1: like eighty thousand people just as the song kicks in
- 45:13Speaker 1: and Pyro goes off, and it's thrilling, And that's kind
- 45:17Speaker 1: of what happens in the show. Um So look up
- 45:19Speaker 1: the music video on YouTube. It's really really good. You know.
- 45:22Speaker 1: I would love to be a musician just to recreate
- 45:25Speaker 1: that for myself, Like I'd love to be a rock
- 45:27Speaker 1: star just for that alone. Oh my god, just in
- 45:30Speaker 1: this scene, you're gonna run in and everybody's gonna scream
- 45:33Speaker 1: for you, and you wrote the song. And that's what's
- 45:35Speaker 1: so crazy about it. In the in the in the
- 45:37Speaker 1: in the in the in the stadiums when he does it,
- 45:40Speaker 1: he'll there's like usually like you know how big bands
- 45:43Speaker 1: will have like a long runway, you know, down through
- 45:46Speaker 1: the stadium. He'll he'll be down at the end of
- 45:50Speaker 1: the runway, uh, you know, in the in the audience,
- 45:53Speaker 1: and then he runs runs, runs down and then leaps
- 45:56Speaker 1: up into the air. And then pyrotechniques go off and
- 45:59Speaker 1: the whole fucking eighty thousand people are singing a song.
- 46:01Speaker 1: I can't think of a higher I can't think of
- 46:03Speaker 1: a higher or high a human being could have. Right,
- 46:07Speaker 1: and it's not and and and and the kicker you
- 46:09Speaker 1: wrote it, and everyone is that that is an unbelievable
- 46:15Speaker 1: high man. It has to be. I remember I did.
- 46:17Speaker 1: I I walked out on stage and sang with Gloria
- 46:21Speaker 1: Estefan coming out of the Dark when I was in
- 46:24Speaker 1: high school and I was a part of a repertory company,
- 46:28Speaker 1: and she chose my repertory company to sing with her
- 46:31Speaker 1: at Madison Square Garden for three nights. So for three
- 46:34Speaker 1: nights I would walk out on stage during Coming out
- 46:37Speaker 1: of the Dark with Gloria Estefan. And when I tell you,
- 46:41Speaker 1: it's like you cannot imagine the feeling. And I'm in
- 46:44Speaker 1: the back, like we're background, since she's in front singing
- 46:46Speaker 1: a shit and we're background. I don't even think the
- 46:48Speaker 1: mic was turned on, you know what I mean. But
- 46:51Speaker 1: just the feeling of the crowd going nuts as you
- 46:54Speaker 1: walk out, even if they're not screaming for you, it
- 46:57Speaker 1: just felt so good, you know it feels so amazing. Like,
- 47:00Speaker 1: I know, Josh gets a rush when that happens to him.
- 47:03Speaker 1: I know something extra. I mean, we've been in plays
- 47:06Speaker 1: and stuff. But and that's obviously a small audience. But
- 47:09Speaker 1: I always think about like singers, particularly singers that write
- 47:12Speaker 1: their own music, like the idea of being up there
- 47:15Speaker 1: and then they hold the mic to the crowd and
- 47:17Speaker 1: like eighty thousand people sing their lyrics to them. Yeah,
- 47:20Speaker 1: I just think I can't imagine a higher high than that. No,
- 47:23Speaker 1: there is no such thing that it can't be. I
- 47:25Speaker 1: mean maybe maybe Jalio White's purple urkle diesel, whatever the
- 47:30Speaker 1: weed is that he has out. Have you tried Jalil
- 47:32Speaker 1: White's weed. He's supposed to come hook me up, man, Jalio,
- 47:36Speaker 1: where are you at? I don't know if Julia listens
- 47:38Speaker 1: to the show. Yeah he does. He said, we we
- 47:42Speaker 1: Delio hook hook hook us up. What's the waffle iron?
- 47:46Speaker 1: He got a waffle iron and everything? Bro, what's a
- 47:50Speaker 1: waffle iron? He got a waffle iron for the purple urkle,
- 47:53Speaker 1: so you can make waffles with the urkle face all right? Well,
- 48:00Speaker 1: more importantly, he has his own line of Ganja and
- 48:02Speaker 1: I think that, Jalil, if you do listen, I think
- 48:05Speaker 1: it would be nice if you brought some over to
- 48:06Speaker 1: Donald's house. Since you guys are friends and Joel lives
- 48:10Speaker 1: in the bye, you can dry and Daniel and Daniel
- 48:12Speaker 1: and Joel, they both they both got real close to
- 48:14Speaker 1: the camera, like dude, A ready, happily, all right, we
- 48:18Speaker 1: have a guest, right Joel, let's go to break. Let's
- 48:22Speaker 1: go right back, and we have a fun guest for
- 48:24Speaker 1: you to right back for you. And we're by, We're by,
- 48:33Speaker 1: We're back from break. Welcome back, and oh man, welcome
- 48:39Speaker 1: back from break. Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back, welcome back,
- 48:45Speaker 1: welcome back. When I want to rock, I really want
- 48:47Speaker 1: to rock and rocking because I'm meck in rock and
- 48:49Speaker 1: rock and to the party. I am to pisom to
- 48:51Speaker 1: wisdom to win on one number. Okay, ready, okay, let's
- 48:53Speaker 1: bring in guest. Let's let's bring in the guests. Games
- 49:00Speaker 1: hollow talks dudes, you know, like a bottle maybe talking
- 49:08Speaker 1: about the episode. So come on, let's get the show.
- 49:14Speaker 1: Give it up for April. Hi, guys, welcome to the program. Hi,
- 49:26Speaker 1: very nice to meet you. Where are you? Where are you?
- 49:28Speaker 1: All calling from April. Oh, we're from Portland, Oregon, Oregon
- 49:33Speaker 1: into Portlands, Donald Donald, do you know any restaurants in Portland?
- 49:38Speaker 1: Since you like to often reference restaurants in people's neighborhoods.
- 49:41Speaker 1: I don't know any restaurants in Portland, but I've never
- 49:43Speaker 1: been to Portland. That Voodoo Donuts come from Portland, isn't
- 49:46Speaker 1: that from Portland? It does. There's some other contenders. Blue
- 49:50Speaker 1: Stars are really good when Voodoo Nuts is where like
- 49:52Speaker 1: the tourists go. But there's a thousand good ones now,
- 49:55Speaker 1: all in that area too. It's it's like, don't hear them.
- 49:57Speaker 1: But Voodoo Donuts was the first, right, Voodoo Donuts the first.
- 50:01Speaker 1: I've never been to Portland. I don't know anything about
- 50:03Speaker 1: it other than what I've learned from watching Portlandia. There's
- 50:06Speaker 1: the Blazers. They have the Blazers shout out. The Blazers
- 50:10Speaker 1: shout out. They called, and they called the Blazers because
- 50:14Speaker 1: people like to blaze there. No, it's a trail. They're
- 50:17Speaker 1: they're the trail. They're the trail blazers, blazers. But yeah, yeah,
- 50:23Speaker 1: I just thought I think of my sweeping stereotypes that
- 50:26Speaker 1: they like Ganja and Oregon, so it might be um
- 50:30Speaker 1: the Blazers. They should change their their mascot to a
- 50:32Speaker 1: guy smoking a giant blunt. April, Are you a gamer, April?
- 50:40Speaker 1: Because you're in a gaming chair? I think that's her
- 50:42Speaker 1: boyfriend's gaming chair. Yeah, my boyfriend, he's a videographer, so
- 50:46Speaker 1: he was nice enough to let me use his set
- 50:48Speaker 1: up today. Oh okay, does your boyfriend also play video
- 50:52Speaker 1: games or is he just do video editing and stuff?
- 50:54Speaker 1: He also plays video games? Yeah, because that's that chairs, Daniel.
- 50:58Speaker 1: You know, doesn't that chair? Daniel? Do you when you
- 51:01Speaker 1: when you're on your pole on Twitch, do you use
- 51:03Speaker 1: a chair like that? I know I use the chair
- 51:05Speaker 1: that I'm sitting in right now. I got my Ham
- 51:06Speaker 1: and Mila. But why don't you get something like April's
- 51:09Speaker 1: in because that's what I associate gamers have. It's really comfortable,
- 51:13Speaker 1: it's hard to it's it's a little bit harder to
- 51:15Speaker 1: twerk in. And when you're naked. When you're naked, Daniel,
- 51:20Speaker 1: your butt cheeks might stick to that kind of chair.
- 51:22Speaker 1: I really need the air ration up in here. Yes,
- 51:26Speaker 1: yes do Wait wait a second, I wasn't aware of this, Danil.
- 51:31Speaker 1: You're naked during your last straight Yes, yes, of course.
- 51:34Speaker 1: Why do you think people are tuning in? Daniel? Honestly,
- 51:40Speaker 1: you honestly thought he was playing games with clothes on.
- 51:42Speaker 1: I'm late to I'm late to this. That's why people
- 51:45Speaker 1: tune in. He's got a hairy chest and he plays naked.
- 51:49Speaker 1: Got it right there. His his tag is gamer bear.
- 52:01Speaker 1: Nailed it all right? Sorry, Mikey and April m tell
- 52:06Speaker 1: us what why you're called in? And how did question? Well,
- 52:08Speaker 1: how do you two know each other? Yeah? What's the
- 52:10Speaker 1: connection is tied together? So? I was actually in a
- 52:16Speaker 1: high school math teacher at an all girls private school
- 52:19Speaker 1: see Mary's Academy here in downtown Portland. And I was
- 52:22Speaker 1: April's math teacher when she was a sophomore, right, April. Yeah,
- 52:27Speaker 1: And then and then it was actually one day in classes,
- 52:30Speaker 1: kind of randomly that she asked, oh, mister Benny, do
- 52:33Speaker 1: you like Scrubs? The TV show Scrubs? Like, oh yeah,
- 52:36Speaker 1: And then we just started talking because it's, you know,
- 52:39Speaker 1: like Scrubs and that I'm not sure if a lot
- 52:41Speaker 1: of your peers were watching Scrubs, you probably just kind
- 52:43Speaker 1: of assumed no, no, I mean, you were the first
- 52:46Speaker 1: person I really actually had a conversation with about the show,
- 52:48Speaker 1: and I think that that's kind of what cemented us
- 52:50Speaker 1: still talking to this day. Oh wow, how old are
- 52:54Speaker 1: you now at April? I will be twenty six in October. Okay,
- 52:58Speaker 1: so ten years ago. Ten years ago roughly, right, yep. Yeah,
- 53:02Speaker 1: and you guys and you formed a friendship over scrubs.
- 53:07Speaker 1: That's amazing, amazing, that's so cool. April's the kind of
- 53:10Speaker 1: person so it's like she's an amazing human being. But
- 53:13Speaker 1: like she also she kind of slow plays you a
- 53:16Speaker 1: little bit, right, Like she she can start out real quiet.
- 53:18Speaker 1: At least you did in the day. It might have
- 53:19Speaker 1: changed April, but like she started really quiet, and then
- 53:22Speaker 1: once we started talking about that, then it was like
- 53:24Speaker 1: kind of an opportunity to get to know her more.
- 53:26Speaker 1: And it's like, okay, well I want to learn more
- 53:28Speaker 1: about this person and all that sort of stuff too.
- 53:30Speaker 1: That's great. Was it was April a good student? Yeah?
- 53:33Speaker 1: I think so you were already weren't April? You were
- 53:35Speaker 1: also in we don't have to get too nerdy, but
- 53:37Speaker 1: like you were in the second year of algebra as
- 53:39Speaker 1: a sophomore, which is not right, that's right, but I
- 53:44Speaker 1: was not very good at math. I will say I'm
- 53:46Speaker 1: better at other things. Maybe she was taking algebra for
- 53:49Speaker 1: the second time, Mikey, you don't remember now she's prank,
- 53:54Speaker 1: she's it's like a skill, so you know she was
- 53:56Speaker 1: in the right place. Yes, I would say that she's
- 53:58Speaker 1: good at math. Mike. I never liked proofs. I thought
- 54:03Speaker 1: that was a waste of everybody's time. Yeah, I think
- 54:06Speaker 1: it's too early to introduce it at that age. I
- 54:09Speaker 1: know what they're going for. They're trying to get you
- 54:11Speaker 1: to use logic in a different way, right, But I
- 54:14Speaker 1: do agree, like it was the way I remember going
- 54:16Speaker 1: through it was painful. Do they still do that to
- 54:18Speaker 1: poor high school kids? I mean it's one thing for
- 54:21Speaker 1: like AP students, but why is like a like a
- 54:24Speaker 1: my school was level four, which like not AP but
- 54:27Speaker 1: right below Like why do I have to learn to
- 54:29Speaker 1: do that? So here's why I told all my students,
- 54:31Speaker 1: because you give in and everybody will tell you if
- 54:33Speaker 1: they hate math or they love it, especially the parents
- 54:36Speaker 1: just step yi. So what I tell them is like,
- 54:38Speaker 1: it's all just training you how to think. So math
- 54:42Speaker 1: is teaching how to practice logic versus you know, music
- 54:46Speaker 1: and arts and stuff. So I think that is the
- 54:49Speaker 1: intention behind learning proofs. It's like we're just trying to
- 54:52Speaker 1: build your logic in a different way. Oh that didn't work, Okay,
- 54:55Speaker 1: let's try it with a different way. I wish I
- 54:58Speaker 1: wish math would have been explained like that when I
- 55:01Speaker 1: was a kid, and that it was you know, I
- 55:04Speaker 1: try to explain to my kid now he plays soccer.
- 55:08Speaker 1: He doesn't necessarily want to be a soccer player. He
- 55:11Speaker 1: wants to play basketball. But I tell him the lessons
- 55:14Speaker 1: that he's learning in soccer will transcend into basketball later on. Right,
- 55:19Speaker 1: And if things are explained and so automatically, he's like, well,
- 55:23Speaker 1: I'm gonna trying to be the best soccer player I
- 55:25Speaker 1: can be because that is going to make me a
- 55:26Speaker 1: better basketball player. If things are explained to you like
- 55:30Speaker 1: that when you're a kid, at least I find when
- 55:33Speaker 1: there's a bigger picture involved instead of the right Now,
- 55:36Speaker 1: if a kid is really intuitive, they it's easier to
- 55:43Speaker 1: sign in. I'm not signing. It's easy to get it's
- 55:45Speaker 1: easier to get invested, you know what I mean. Like
- 55:48Speaker 1: I wish somebody would have said to me, this will
- 55:50Speaker 1: build your logic based skills. This will build those skills.
- 55:57Speaker 1: I wish somebody would have said that to me instead
- 55:59Speaker 1: of you're gonna need a so you can count fuck
- 56:01Speaker 1: what you act therefore by the transitive property of association.
- 56:07Speaker 1: And I was like, you guys gotta kidnapped. I'm not
- 56:09Speaker 1: going to need this. Come on, come on, teach me
- 56:11Speaker 1: how to change my oil. That'll be more useful. Right.
- 56:15Speaker 1: That was the way when people would always ask to
- 56:17Speaker 1: like mister bennybody would to use this. When are we
- 56:19Speaker 1: going to use this? And that was again It's like, no,
- 56:21Speaker 1: of course you're gonna be able to look it up
- 56:22Speaker 1: later and know you might not be able to do
- 56:23Speaker 1: this again. Focus on the big picture. We're building skills
- 56:27Speaker 1: like problem solving with the logic. Well, but I understand,
- 56:30Speaker 1: by the way, but but I do understand, like, okay,
- 56:32Speaker 1: so I think I took some logic classes in college
- 56:35Speaker 1: and stuff, but I do now understand why you might
- 56:38Speaker 1: want to introduce the idea of the transitive property. But
- 56:42Speaker 1: it just felt a little young for it. I mean,
- 56:44Speaker 1: unless you're like a super genius like maybe April was,
- 56:47Speaker 1: but I wasn't. Um. I also found it funny, like
- 56:50Speaker 1: when I went to take an SAT Prep course. They
- 56:52Speaker 1: were like, okay, I know how they touched you how
- 56:55Speaker 1: to multiplied fractions like this in school. That's not how
- 56:57Speaker 1: we do it. That's that's that's slow. Don't don't do
- 57:00Speaker 1: that anymore, do it like this? And I was like, well,
- 57:02Speaker 1: why didn't they teach me like the way that I
- 57:07Speaker 1: a lot of the stuff that I now and occasionally
- 57:09Speaker 1: I have to multiply a fraction or figure out a
- 57:11Speaker 1: fraction is like the thing I learned an SAT Prep
- 57:13Speaker 1: not what I learned in the public high school system
- 57:16Speaker 1: of New Jersey. But that's not your fault, Mike, I
- 57:17Speaker 1: don't blame you. And also he's an Oregon. He's an Oregon,
- 57:21Speaker 1: I know in a private school. I think probably, So
- 57:23Speaker 1: there's lots of different Yeah, I've since moved from teaching.
- 57:27Speaker 1: I now work in a different field, but oh what
- 57:29Speaker 1: do you do now? I work in the tech world.
- 57:32Speaker 1: This is also like I don't want to push the
- 57:34Speaker 1: gun here because, like you know, there's this whole life
- 57:36Speaker 1: advice piece I can ask you about late. Okay, so
- 57:38Speaker 1: you got let's go to normal order of things. Do
- 57:40Speaker 1: you guys either want to you have a question for us? Yes,
- 57:43Speaker 1: I do, really Holes. Cop is one of my favorite
- 57:48Speaker 1: movies mine too, and we referenced it too much on here,
- 57:53Speaker 1: too much. I don't complain, okay, but my question to
- 57:57Speaker 1: you guys is what is your favorite song off of
- 58:00Speaker 1: a soundtrack from Beverly Hills Cop. Neutron Dancer? I'm so happy?
- 58:08Speaker 1: Ann is it Neutron or New Town? I'm not sure
- 58:13Speaker 1: it's Neutron, don't even need my favorite. My favorite song
- 58:15Speaker 1: is Tonight Vanity. It's when, yeah, when Prince comes in.
- 58:24Speaker 1: That's that Prince music. Yeah Vanity, right, yeah, it's vanity.
- 58:28Speaker 1: But Prince wrote that song to night to meet you.
- 58:35Speaker 1: I think they got water on the brain. I think
- 58:38Speaker 1: they got more vanity. I think they got more water
- 58:40Speaker 1: upstairs than they got sugar on the candy cane. Oh
- 58:44Speaker 1: that shit fire baby to Night, that's your vanity. Oh,
- 58:51Speaker 1: man's your good question, April. You gotta singing the Beverly
- 58:55Speaker 1: Hills Cop soundtrack. He's like, hey, tagging, what is he saying?
- 58:58Speaker 1: What does he goes? He? Can you make sure that
- 59:00Speaker 1: I don't get club short because if I drink that,
- 59:02Speaker 1: I'm gonna throw up. He didn't make sure to park
- 59:10Speaker 1: this in a good place because all this shit happened
- 59:12Speaker 1: last time I parked? All right, next question, go ahead.
- 59:21Speaker 1: Another question that I had for you guys is I
- 59:24Speaker 1: know that you both have worked on like, quote unquote
- 59:27Speaker 1: kids songs like you know, Big Fat Liar, Chick a Little.
- 59:31Speaker 1: What was it like working on those sets and was
- 59:34Speaker 1: it different than other sets that you've been on. So
- 59:36Speaker 1: with Big Fat Liar, I got to work with Sean
- 59:38Speaker 1: Levy on his first project ever. He had directed maybe
- 59:42Speaker 1: a episode of What's the Action show? That the the
- 59:49Speaker 1: kid he was, he's going to be on the show
- 59:51Speaker 1: eventually as an intern, but he had a television show
- 59:54Speaker 1: back in the day where he was like an action hero.
- 59:57Speaker 1: And I think Sean Levy directed one episode of and
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: then he directed Big Fat Liar, and I just remember thinking, Wow,
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: this dude hasn't directed much and he's you know, this
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: movie seems like it's going to be so big. Sean
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: Levy's now grown to be has gone on to be
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: one of the biggest power players in Hollywood and director,
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: and he's a great director and producer actually, But in hindsight,
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: being twenty twenty, I just thought it was really I
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: think it's really cool now that I got to work
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: with somebody when they first started, and now they're like
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: one of the you know, they've gone on to create
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: some great things. I think she's asking, how how was
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: a set different when you're working on something that's for children. Oh,
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: it's not different. Kids curse just as much as adults do.
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: That's not true. Yeah, it is what you're talking about.
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: You're trying to tell me Frankie Munez don't curse. You're
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: trying to tell me a Manda Bindes didn't curse while
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: we was making that movie. Oh oh, I see you're saying,
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: in your instance, the kids had potty mouths. I mean,
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: not really, but I'm just saying kids. It's funny that
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: you say that because Chicken was animated, so we're just
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: you know, we're in a sound booth, so doesn't just recently,
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: I know, and the Six Degrees of Sean Leeby as
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: you started talking, Sean Levy directed the original or not
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: the original, the Steve Martin version of of Cheaper by
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: the Dozen and is the executive producer of the Cheaper
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: by the Dozen that I just did alongside Kenya Barris. Um.
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: What's the difference, Um? The kids have very limited hours
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: depending on how old they are. As you get older,
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: obviously they allow you to work longer, but very young
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: children have very limited hours, so that's always tricky trying
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: to get the scene that you need to get with
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: even less time than you normally have. People definitely watch
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: their cursing, although your human beings like parents in front
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: of children and you slip up and there's often a
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: swear jar it gets filled. Yeah, there is. I don't
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: know if there's any other real difference. Yeah, I think,
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: you know, I think you know. Those are those are
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: the main ones. I think the adults do their best
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: to not accidentally curse around the kids. And then that's
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: dealing with the kids hours. I think that's the only
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: thing I can think of. I like kids hours though. Man,
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: when you got kids on set, you know, okay, I'm
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: I'm eight hours whatever it is. Yeah, yeah, anyway, anyway, Also,
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: the kids have to go to school if you're during
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: the school years, so that's also tricky. In addition to
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: the limited hours, I think for three hours a day
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: they have to be in school, you know, they have
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: a tutor in the trailer or something, So that's really
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: tricky for them too, because obviously they have to be educated.
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: It kind of That's where it's really crazy too. They'll
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: come to work and then go to school for literally
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: thirty minutes in between setups and then come back to
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: set Yeah, they have to keep they have to bank
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: all the time, and you can't do it in too
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: shortened increments obviously, so they'll be like, Okay, I gotta
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: put them in school for a half hour or way
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: behind on school today. So right, have either of you
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: established sort of like a mentor ship relationship with any
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: of those kids over the course of years, everyone of
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: Zac's projects, he always has kids, and so I've seen
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: I've seen a lot of like I'm not going to
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: speak for him, but there are a lot of young
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: people in Zach's life that I would say he mentors. Well.
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: Joey King, you know, was was a bit of a
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: mentee to not mentee, but I felt like her uncle,
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: and you know, we did a bunch of products together.
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: I met her first on as the Great and Powerful
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: when she was China Doll and I was the monkey,
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: and then I just was blown away by her talent
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: and I cast her in Wish I was here, and
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: then again every you know, every year, the girl got older,
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: her acting was getting better and better and better. And
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: then when I made Going in Style, it was actually
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: written for a young boy. And I said to Ted Malfie,
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: who wrote it, you know, this young girl is so talented.
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: I think it'd be more interesting to see Michael Caine
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: interact with a teenage girl than a than a young boy.
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: You know, what's it like for a grandfather to try
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: and you know, be a part of a teenage girl's life.
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: And now she's taken off. In fact, I think Kissing
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: Booth the third the third movie of Kissing Booth, it
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: just came out and she's you know, she's gonna have
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: a huge career. She's in a new Brad Pitt movie
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: and she's she's on fire. It's crazy. We knew her
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: when she was twelve, when she was Yeah, when she
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: was in with the movie that the scene when Donald
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: in which I was here, Donald, you remember her? Yeah?
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: She was in Um do you guys remember in one
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: of the Batman movies when is it supposed to be
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: young Bane? You think it's a boy, but that was
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: Joey too. She's young tallya algol or something like that, right,
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: that is correct? And then there's another boy. There's a
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: young boy and cheaper by the dozen, who I took
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: under my wing a little bit. Actually these three met
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: him too, because I brought him to Disneyland with us.
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: So sweet, very sweet, young boy, very talented that I
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: took under my wing. And apparently he occasionally listens to
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: this podcast even though it's so inappropriate and he shouldn't
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: be so Leo, if you're listening, turn it off now.
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: I sound like those parents at the award shows. Go
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: to sleep, honey, go to sleep. All right, it's time
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: for Portland, Oregon's favorite segment. It's time too, pi Yo.
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: All right, go ahead, Mikey. Yeah. So, so I was
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: at a teacher for eight years and then I switched
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: careers in the tech because it's just it's all encompassing.
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: Like when I was working, I would have to work
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: several extra jobs to make ends me, couldn't afford to
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: have my wife on health insurance, and we wanted to
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: start a family in the future, like it's just insistance
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: an hours. So I was lucky enough to be able
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: to switch in the tech. So I'm now trying to
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: figure out like there's nothing and I've sort of accepted this.
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: There might be nothing I will ever do again that
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: is that meaningful, Like you go home and you feel
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: like good. So what should I look for? Like something that,
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: you know, tech brings me the ability to support my family.
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: I've got a toddler now upstairs, and but I'm looking
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: for someone that also brings that level of fulfillment that
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: teaching did back in the day. I got an idea,
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: go for your Zach, you know, when we were talking
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: about you as a math teacher earlier. I was also
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: something I didn't say, but was that I would occasionally
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: get really lost in math class and my parents would
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: hire a tutor. We were blessed that we had enough
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: money that they could hire a tutor. The tutor would
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: come over and I'd be so confused and like on
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: the verge of tears, And because it was one on
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: one and he was a brilliant teacher, like within thirty seconds,
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: he'd explain it to me and I'd be like, wow,
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: well we have the rest of the hour, what else
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: should we do? And he would just teach me more
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: stuff And it made such a difference. And I was
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: always acutely aware that that access to someone like that
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: was a function of my parents having money to afford
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: such a thing. So what's the first thing that came
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: in my brain is if there's a way for you
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: to volunteer your your genius and expertise for children, high
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: school kids who don't have the economic access to someone
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: like you who's cool and be friends students and can
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: talk at their level, and then also break it down,
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: break things down that are super complicated that they're not getting.
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: And I think the epiphanies you'd see in these kids'
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: brains that would never have access to one on one
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: like you would be very fulfilling. I'm getting lit up
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: just by thinking about it. I agree. I think I
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: don't know what you do in tech, but if there
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: was a way that you could. What are you do
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: in tech? Let me ask you that first. But right
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: now I test software. The goal was to be able
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: to move over to be a developer. But I've got
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: an extra spin that I could tell you about after that.
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: I like your idea. I think about well. I mean,
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: I was going to say, if you're in tech and
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: you're developing, why not develop some type of teaching software
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: where you can, you know, put something out there for
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: students like April was to learn how to do math,
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: you know what I mean? There are fun ways. That's
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: this game now my kid plays now called push the
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: Button and it's a math game on the phone. And
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: and you know, before you know it, he's multiplying by
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: nine and you know he's not even thinking about it,
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: you know. Um, and so, um, there's something, there's something
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: in that like I would I would look into, you know,
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: once you get into the developing side. When you do
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: get into that side, develop your passion. You said you
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: like teaching, develop that thing developed, right, if you wanted
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: to combine it with your with your knowledge of software development,
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: Donald's right, you could. You could use your skill set
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: as being a teacher for all those years clearly good
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: at it because um, you know your students like you
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: and um, you know, maybe you could develop some sort
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: of game that would that would help kids. You know.
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: One of the things that a lot of students don't
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: have when they get out of school is direction. And
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: you seem to have found another direction after teaching, you know,
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: and maybe your tea maybe you teach them how to
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: develop software. Maybe that's something you do. Maybe you teach
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: your old students that skill set. You know, I'm sure
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: not everyone. I'm sure not everyone is as put together
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: as April. I'm sure you have students out there right
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: now that they're like, I'm so confused at what I'm
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: gonna do you introduce them to your new world? You know,
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: I'm just thinking if you went to I know COVID
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: is tricky, so if it's maybe it has to be
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: zoomed if not in person, would have you but pretend
