- 0:09Speaker 1: Welcome home to the Favorites, presented by Draft Kings. The
- 0:12Speaker 1: crown is yours. We are an Action Network Podcasts. I'm
- 0:16Speaker 1: your host, Brandon Kravitz. Back at it with the first
- 0:18Speaker 1: Lady of the Pod, Miss Kendra Middleton, the prime Minister
- 0:21Speaker 1: of DGEN Nation, the one and only Stucky Action Lifer
- 0:25Speaker 1: is with us NFL Draft twenty twenty six in the books.
- 0:31Speaker 1: We're going to talk about that. Momentarily, we're talking NBA
- 0:34Speaker 1: playoffs with Matt Moore coming up in a few minutes
- 0:37Speaker 1: as well. James Gladstone Jags GM getting roasted on my timeline.
- 0:42Speaker 1: What's poping? Kendra? People are all over your boy.
- 0:46Speaker 2: I think he was James gladstoned for this draft. I
- 0:49Speaker 2: gotta be honest, like the fact that they are kind
- 0:52Speaker 2: of just planning to run it back with I guess
- 0:56Speaker 2: like Jack.
- 0:57Speaker 3: Kaiser at linebacker. I don't know.
- 0:59Speaker 2: The number of ends was really confusing. One linebacker in
- 1:03Speaker 2: the whole draft, and it was round seven, pick two
- 1:05Speaker 2: forty and you need to replace Devin Lloyd's production.
- 1:09Speaker 3: I just don't get it. All of the Jags.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Twitter people have been joking that they're just gonna pretend
- 1:13Speaker 2: that they took pregnant at fifty six and Nate Borkacher
- 1:16Speaker 2: at eighty eight, and if that's what we want to
- 1:18Speaker 2: do to help us cope whatever, I'm not gonna.
- 1:20Speaker 3: Judge the draft.
- 1:21Speaker 2: He's been, you know, really good at his job. I
- 1:24Speaker 2: have to give him the benefit of the doubt. But
- 1:26Speaker 2: it was definitely a bit of a head scratcher. I
- 1:29Speaker 2: don't even think the Borkachier kid knew he was getting
- 1:32Speaker 2: drafted because they put the camera on him and he
- 1:34Speaker 2: was just like, oh okay, sweet, and that was it.
- 1:38Speaker 3: Like I don't know, just.
- 1:41Speaker 1: He was flexing. He was flexing on it. After the
- 1:44Speaker 1: draft was like, yeah, this was exactly how he lined
- 1:47Speaker 1: it up. To me, sounds like the guy I think
- 1:50Speaker 1: I've been this guy on this podcast who makes their
- 1:52Speaker 1: own power ratings and is like, you know, I make
- 1:55Speaker 1: this number five points off what the market is. It's like, well,
- 1:58Speaker 1: you might be the one that's wrong then, not the market.
- 2:01Speaker 1: And it feels like that's what James Gladstone found himself in.
- 2:05Speaker 2: I'm gonna let him cook, but this kid better be
- 2:07Speaker 2: Rob Gronkowski. And I feel like I've gone from like
- 2:10Speaker 2: filam and Yon to like unseasoned chicken and rice. But
- 2:15Speaker 2: I'm gonna I'm gonna give him the benefit.
- 2:17Speaker 3: Of the doubt.
- 2:18Speaker 2: But this kid better be Rob Gronkowski or I'm gonna
- 2:20Speaker 2: lose my shit, Stucky.
- 2:22Speaker 1: I don't know if you've made it this far down
- 2:24Speaker 1: the draft grade rabbit hole, but is there a team
- 2:27Speaker 1: out there that you think just totally whipped Well.
- 2:30Speaker 4: I've been resting and reading and chilling, but last last
- 2:34Speaker 4: night I went back to my old ways and I
- 2:36Speaker 4: pulled them all nighter and I did draft grades for
- 2:39Speaker 4: every pick and grade at every year. I was gonna
- 2:42Speaker 4: have to do it anyway and great at every draft
- 2:44Speaker 4: jack I got, I gave three a's and three f's.
- 2:48Speaker 4: The Jags got one of the f's. I mean, I
- 2:52Speaker 4: think the funniest thing that happened on Twitter was the
- 2:57Speaker 4: funniest exchange I saw was Ari if Hasan, who writes
- 3:03Speaker 4: about football, is known for like some of the big
- 3:05Speaker 4: board stuff. There was a lot of talk about the
- 3:07Speaker 4: consensus big board on Twitter, and look, that's not gospel,
- 3:11Speaker 4: and every team has their own stuff, but there's been
- 3:14Speaker 4: a lot of studies done in the past when you
- 3:17Speaker 4: go way off the big board in either direction. So
- 3:20Speaker 4: like if there's someone that drops way off the big
- 3:22Speaker 4: board and you get them, You're like, oh, this is
- 3:24Speaker 4: such value history that hasn't worked out either or if
- 3:29Speaker 4: you reach really high. But I think the most important
- 3:31Speaker 4: thing with the big board is it's it's really just
- 3:34Speaker 4: kind of a roadmap of when you expect guys to go.
- 3:37Speaker 4: And the Jags reached so far for so many guys.
- 3:41Speaker 4: The funniest interaction I saw was on his Twitter he says,
- 3:46Speaker 4: Jags double dip with Stanford wide receiver CJ. Williams, who
- 3:49Speaker 4: is number six seventy eight on the consensus board. Someone
- 3:53Speaker 4: replied to him and said, look, on the bright side,
- 3:55Speaker 4: at least they did not reach for six seventy nine,
- 3:59Speaker 4: and he said, bad news about that. Six seventy nine
- 4:01Speaker 4: on the consensus board was Parker Hughes, the linebacker the
- 4:06Speaker 4: drafted in the seventh round. So, yeah, I don't know
- 4:10Speaker 4: what the Jags are doing. I mean, look they got that.
- 4:14Speaker 4: I almost gave a pass to a lot of the
- 4:17Speaker 4: teams that were reaching four tight ends. That was probably
- 4:21Speaker 4: the theme of the draft, and there were so many
- 4:24Speaker 4: reaches for times most tight ends taken into draft since
- 4:26Speaker 4: two thousand and two, and that's a direct reflection of
- 4:31Speaker 4: where I think the league is headed. It's a lot
- 4:33Speaker 4: of the stuff we saw with McVeigh and thirteen personnel.
- 4:37Speaker 4: You're gonna see heavier packages. Congrats to anyone who's either
- 4:41Speaker 4: their kid or themselves decided to play football and that
- 4:44Speaker 4: was born in the early two thousands and decided to
- 4:46Speaker 4: play tight end. Because this is the tight end Truther.
- 4:49Speaker 4: Now you're going to see a lot of multi tight end,
- 4:54Speaker 4: multiple tight end packages. So like it, it's good to
- 4:56Speaker 4: have tight ends, you know, a blocking tight end who
- 5:00Speaker 4: can line up multiple places of a pure receiving titan
- 5:03Speaker 4: like just having I mean, look at the Rams. How
- 5:05Speaker 4: many Titans of the Rams have on the roster. Now
- 5:07Speaker 4: they drafted another one. The Rams, by the way, were
- 5:10Speaker 4: one of the mother F's along with the Cardinals, who
- 5:12Speaker 4: I thought had the worst draft. But and then on
- 5:15Speaker 4: the other on the flip side, you're seeing defender. You're
- 5:17Speaker 4: seeing teams counter with you know, these positionless defenders. We
- 5:24Speaker 4: saw how important nick even war was. But guys who
- 5:26Speaker 4: can be on the field against both you know, spread
- 5:32Speaker 4: three four wide receivers or these heavier packages. So these
- 5:35Speaker 4: guys who can play nickel, safety, corner, but can play
- 5:38Speaker 4: the run and the pass, and those those guys are
- 5:44Speaker 4: super even more valuable. They've always been pretty valuable, but
- 5:46Speaker 4: even more valuable now. So you're seeing that as kind
- 5:50Speaker 4: of the counter to this tight end and heavier package revolution.
- 5:55Speaker 4: But yeah, I thought the Jags had a terrible draft.
- 6:00Speaker 1: So who got your who got your highest grade? Then?
- 6:03Speaker 4: So I'm on three apps for the Cardinal I don't
- 6:05Speaker 4: know what the Cardinals are doing. I mean taking a
- 6:07Speaker 4: running back. They just signed olg or two, but they
- 6:09Speaker 4: had so many holes with that. French was taking a
- 6:11Speaker 4: running back at three, and then Carson.
- 6:14Speaker 3: Beck he was the best option for them, though.
- 6:18Speaker 4: I think I'd like I just would have You're better
- 6:21Speaker 4: off just tanking. Get get a quarterback. Your quarterback is
- 6:23Speaker 4: gonna come next year, probably.
- 6:25Speaker 2: So.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Quick.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Pause now, don't tax me off right now, don't piss
- 6:31Speaker 2: me off.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Listen. I had the under on Shador Sanders draft slot
- 6:35Speaker 1: last year, so I can't talk too much shit. But
- 6:37Speaker 1: you had Garrettmeyer getting drafted.
- 6:40Speaker 3: He's going to the Chiefs.
- 6:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean it was a long shot, but it
- 6:44Speaker 2: was worth it.
- 6:45Speaker 1: It was it was I'd rather have Garrett Nosmeyer in
- 6:48Speaker 1: the seventh than Carson Beck and the I was.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Gonna say, I I'd rather have Garrett Asmayer than all
- 6:53Speaker 2: of the other Drew Holer than all of these other guys.
- 6:57Speaker 3: But you know what, you went SEMy lose some it
- 7:00Speaker 3: was a long shot.
- 7:01Speaker 2: I'm not even pissed about losing the bed. I'm just
- 7:03Speaker 2: pissed he's a Kansas city chief.
- 7:05Speaker 4: We should photoshop a picture of Kender into nuss Meyer's
- 7:10Speaker 4: living room when he was just sitting there just uh.
- 7:14Speaker 1: As he waited.
- 7:15Speaker 4: Later for days, I was shocked he fell that far.
- 7:17Speaker 4: Had to be injury related where But yeah, So my
- 7:21Speaker 4: three worst were Cardinals, Jaggs Rams. I think that's a lot.
- 7:26Speaker 4: I mean the Rams, like I just look there win
- 7:28Speaker 4: now mode. Maybe no one knows how a quarterback is
- 7:31Speaker 4: going to translate. I'm not a fan of Simpson, but
- 7:33Speaker 4: who knows. He could turn out to be a really
- 7:34Speaker 4: good quarterback. But there there were they were so close
- 7:37Speaker 4: and they still could get to the super Bowl. I
- 7:40Speaker 4: know that they're known for f them picks. It looked
- 7:41Speaker 4: like they just said f M picks this year. Another
- 7:43Speaker 4: tight end, a tackle they drafted basically because he's he's versatile.
- 7:48Speaker 4: I think he can play all the positions, a quarterback
- 7:50Speaker 4: who I thought they could have gotten later, and where
- 7:52Speaker 4: they all the second round. I didn't even love the
- 7:56Speaker 4: receiver they got Like rams draft was ugly to me.
- 8:00Speaker 4: A couple other there's, but that's a lot of people
- 8:02Speaker 4: said that. A couple other dress I didn't like Chargers, Seahawks,
- 8:07Speaker 4: forty nine ers. They had some reaches, of which is
- 8:10Speaker 4: per usual. The Patriots. I didn't love their draft. The
- 8:13Speaker 4: Falcons and the way that I graded them was, you know,
- 8:18Speaker 4: looking at what what they what kind of draft capital
- 8:21Speaker 4: we had going in versus needs, versus you know, versus
- 8:24Speaker 4: players that I liked.
- 8:25Speaker 3: What'd you greet? The Dolphins? Stuck?
- 8:28Speaker 4: Dolphins were so weird to me I gave I ended
- 8:31Speaker 4: up giving them a B minus. So I gave three
- 8:34Speaker 4: a's out ten vs. Three B minuses and then like
- 8:40Speaker 4: thirteen c's, five d's and three f's. The Dolphins were
- 8:44Speaker 4: weird because I hate Proctor. I think he's a bust tackle,
- 8:51Speaker 4: but they might move him the guard and I think
- 8:53Speaker 4: he might be a better fit there, so that could
- 8:56Speaker 4: end up bringing out I love Johnson their corner. I
- 9:00Speaker 4: thought they reached for Douglas at wide receiver. Bell I
- 9:03Speaker 4: thought though their second was year they took you. I
- 9:05Speaker 4: know he's coming off an injury, but so there was
- 9:08Speaker 4: a lot of There was a picks I loved and
- 9:11Speaker 4: then picks I hated.
- 9:12Speaker 1: So they were hard and Rodriguez Zach Thomas two point zero.
- 9:15Speaker 2: I was so pissed when you guys took Rodriguez, That's
- 9:17Speaker 2: who I wanted. I almost texted you and said, I
- 9:20Speaker 2: literally hate your guts right now.
- 9:22Speaker 4: Another I thought they reached for kas Merrick, but like
- 9:26Speaker 4: so many teams reached for tight ends. It's just like
- 9:28Speaker 4: the theme of the draft.
- 9:29Speaker 3: But as one does.
- 9:32Speaker 4: I love that. Actually, so my three favorite were the
- 9:34Speaker 4: brown The Browns were number number one. They got the
- 9:37Speaker 4: only A plus I mean to trade back and still
- 9:39Speaker 4: get Fano and their needs. If you talk about needs
- 9:44Speaker 4: and value like they hit it all. I was super
- 9:46Speaker 4: shocked at the I thought the Browns are the best
- 9:48Speaker 4: draft conception in Boston at wide receiver. Next, they didn't
- 9:52Speaker 4: reach for either of them. They might both start this year.
- 9:55Speaker 4: Make Neil Warren falls to them. I thought he was
- 9:57Speaker 4: a little overrated. People saying going in the first round.
- 9:59Speaker 4: I watched as much Mac football.
- 10:01Speaker 3: As their quarterback.
- 10:04Speaker 4: Though they're gonna their goals to get their quarterback next year.
- 10:08Speaker 3: Yeah, but I mean, yeah, it helps them this season.
- 10:11Speaker 2: I'm just like, I get the picks and them not
- 10:13Speaker 2: reaching and all of that, but it doesn't I mean,
- 10:15Speaker 2: who's going to be throwing them the foot?
- 10:17Speaker 4: Their goal is like that. I think they have their
- 10:20Speaker 4: goal next year is get their quarterback. But McNeil Warren
- 10:24Speaker 4: could end up starting for them. Parker Browns for the center,
- 10:26Speaker 4: He could end up starting for them, Royer the tight end.
- 10:29Speaker 4: I liked that they drafted. He could end up playing
- 10:31Speaker 4: a lot next to Fannin and like, so they got
- 10:35Speaker 4: like four or five to six potential starters, and I
- 10:39Speaker 4: thought they drafted really well. The Raiders also, I thought
- 10:43Speaker 4: I gave them an a. Mendoza was the obvious pick,
- 10:47Speaker 4: but Stokes was one of my guys. Crawford fills a
- 10:50Speaker 4: need as an edge rusher, zoon, good depth guy, versatile,
- 10:54Speaker 4: I think will eventually play guard, which they need. And
- 10:57Speaker 4: then McCoy like where they got him. Yeah, he might
- 10:59Speaker 4: not sign a second contract, he might get his major
- 11:02Speaker 4: injury questions, but if he's fully healthy, even just for
- 11:06Speaker 4: a year or two, he could be a steal. I
- 11:08Speaker 4: also thought Masses was one of the most underrated corners.
- 11:13Speaker 4: You take a corner defensive back out of cow They're
- 11:15Speaker 4: gonna work out more times than not. Benson I liked
- 11:18Speaker 4: he can also contribute on special teams. Washington will probably
- 11:20Speaker 4: be the RB two like I liked a lot of
- 11:22Speaker 4: what the Raiders said. The Cowboys also, and then if
- 11:26Speaker 4: people are listening, I'm a Ravens fan. I did like
- 11:28Speaker 4: the Ravens draft. The guard was obvious. I mean, look,
- 11:32Speaker 4: their guards last year gave up fifty eight pressures. They
- 11:34Speaker 4: needed to fix their guards. They got Simpson. They got him.
- 11:36Speaker 4: Now what are they gonna do with center? I don't know,
- 11:38Speaker 4: that's why they didn't get an A. We'll find out
- 11:41Speaker 4: what as time goes on where they're gonna do with center.
- 11:43Speaker 4: But Zion Young was one of my guys needed help
- 11:46Speaker 4: at edge. Rusher Sarat I thought they got him as
- 11:48Speaker 4: a steal. Hidner I think can help them at tight end.
- 11:52Speaker 4: They were one of the teams that drafted two tight ends.
- 11:53Speaker 4: Well guess what twenty twenty two they drafted Kohler and
- 11:56Speaker 4: likely they lost both of them. Well, this year they
- 11:59Speaker 4: go going get Kuavas and Hibner. Rivers little undersized, but
- 12:04Speaker 4: I I loved him at Duke. I think he can.
- 12:07Speaker 4: He'll probably have to play nickel and in the slot,
- 12:09Speaker 4: but he's been good enough against the run. They probably
- 12:10Speaker 4: got their starting punter. And then you know Leaven in
- 12:14Speaker 4: the final round. Benny the defensive lineman. He's super versatile,
- 12:19Speaker 4: he's reunited with Minter. I liked a lot with what
- 12:22Speaker 4: the Ravens did. They usually draft well in terms of value,
- 12:25Speaker 4: even a guy like Randall, even though like the owner
- 12:27Speaker 4: apparently made that pick. I like that. So yeah, Browns, Raiders, Cowboys, A's, F's, Cardinals, Jaggs, Rams,
- 12:35Speaker 4: and then shout out the B plus's, Jets, Eagles, Colts,
- 12:39Speaker 4: and Ravens.
- 12:41Speaker 1: Mel Kuiper, each your heart out. We've got our very
- 12:44Speaker 1: own and his name is Stucky. NBA Playoffs in full effect.
- 12:48Speaker 1: We'll see where the value lies as we wrap up

- 13:34Speaker 1: the mayor of the best NBA betting podcast in the land, Buckets,
- 13:39Speaker 1: no bias here. What's up, Matt? How the Broncos do
- 13:43Speaker 1: in their draft?
- 13:45Speaker 5: I wouldn't know.
- 13:45Speaker 6: I'm not a Broncos fan, so you could just go
- 13:48Speaker 6: ahead and get out right now.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Oh yeah, you're a Chiefs guy, are you?
- 13:52Speaker 2: Yes?
- 13:52Speaker 5: I am a Vacchiefs guy.
- 13:53Speaker 1: I was.
- 13:54Speaker 5: I don't know whether I don't know.
- 13:55Speaker 6: I have to ask Stucky whether the move up was good.
- 13:58Speaker 6: I got mixed reviews.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Oh he didn't. We got draft grades a moment ago
- 14:03Speaker 1: from uh from Mel Stuckey, but I don't think we
- 14:06Speaker 1: hit on the on the Chiefs you want to give us.
- 14:08Speaker 1: He's thumbing through his packet right now.
- 14:11Speaker 3: What do you think about the Garrett Nsmeyer pick Chiefs?
- 14:14Speaker 4: I gave uh C C minus two. I mean I didn't,
- 14:19Speaker 4: I don't. I don't know why they traded up. They
- 14:21Speaker 4: could have got anywhere they were. I don't know if
- 14:23Speaker 4: they had another plan and someone spoiled it. Woods I
- 14:27Speaker 4: don't love, but Jones is thirty two address the need.
- 14:31Speaker 4: Same with our Mason Thomas. He kind of fits the
- 14:33Speaker 4: profile like the edge rushers they like. Maybe Johnson can
- 14:37Speaker 4: contribute on third downs, is running back out of the backfield.
- 14:41Speaker 4: I kind of like Alan was like my favorite pick
- 14:43Speaker 4: of theirs. He can contribute on special teams too. Potentially,
- 14:46Speaker 4: I don't know if he'll even make the roster, but yeah,
- 14:49Speaker 4: the trade just kind of I don't I didn't understand
- 14:51Speaker 4: that trade up for the Chiefs, but they definitely addressed
- 14:54Speaker 4: some of the needs on their roster. And then yeah
- 14:56Speaker 4: they got they got Nasmyer for Kendrick.
- 14:59Speaker 1: Picks that fix that defense. Matt. Should we start with
- 15:02Speaker 1: the future Eastern Conference champion Orlando Magic or is there
- 15:08Speaker 1: a different series which this is probably the answer, but
- 15:11Speaker 1: which series in the first round has thrown you most
- 15:15Speaker 1: for a loop in the NBA?
- 15:16Speaker 5: Oh yeah, it's the Magic. The Magic could just not
- 15:19Speaker 5: stop tripping over their own dick for six months.
- 15:21Speaker 6: Just like absolutely constantly, like it was sad, like they
- 15:25Speaker 6: were they were that person at work whose life is
- 15:28Speaker 6: falling apart, and you're just like you go.
- 15:31Speaker 5: You go from like, hey, you're doing all right, man,
- 15:33Speaker 5: Like you're right, you doing okay? Everything good with you?
- 15:37Speaker 6: To hey, do you want to like go out and
- 15:39Speaker 6: like get a beer and like talk about some stuff
- 15:40Speaker 6: because you could tell they're going through things, to then
- 15:42Speaker 6: finally being like hey, so, like I get it, and
- 15:45Speaker 6: you're clearly going through some stuff, but also you need
- 15:49Speaker 6: to get your shit together. That is you, Orlando Magic.
- 15:51Speaker 6: That's who the Magic had been for six months. And
- 15:54Speaker 6: then imagine all of this happens and then they show
- 15:57Speaker 6: up at like the corporate event in like the nicest
- 16:00Speaker 6: repeace suit. They've got all their notes together, they kill
- 16:03Speaker 6: the presentation, they bring in all this new that's them
- 16:06Speaker 6: where It's like, where did this come from?
- 16:07Speaker 5: Why was this not here? For six months?
- 16:09Speaker 6: It's been absolutely infuriating watching this Magic team who has
- 16:12Speaker 6: been absolutely horrific just somehow be like.
- 16:16Speaker 5: Oh, no, we're good. Now the hell you mean you've
- 16:19Speaker 5: been good?
- 16:19Speaker 2: What?
- 16:20Speaker 1: So is it in your opinion?
- 16:23Speaker 4: Is that injuries though too?
- 16:24Speaker 1: Right? Brand And I mean that, yeah, that's like the
- 16:26Speaker 1: biggest part of it.
- 16:27Speaker 5: Every team in the NBA, every team in the NBA, like,
- 16:31Speaker 5: there's not a single team that hasn't had like significant injuries.
- 16:34Speaker 5: The whole league is a mess with injuries.
- 16:38Speaker 4: They're becoming the anonymous. They have their injuries during the
- 16:41Speaker 4: regular season. But what were we going to say, brand?
- 16:44Speaker 1: Well? Is it that? I mean that is a huge
- 16:46Speaker 1: part of the equation is that when and they're starting
- 16:50Speaker 1: five was not intact and in the playoffs, you're starting
- 16:53Speaker 1: five means more than it does throughout the regular season
- 16:56Speaker 1: where you relying more on your bench. So they they
- 16:59Speaker 1: now not only have that intact, they have that intact
- 17:01Speaker 1: at a time of the year where you're using that
- 17:04Speaker 1: about fifteen percent more of the time than you do
- 17:07Speaker 1: in the regular season. Is it that at or is
- 17:09Speaker 1: it just simply the matchup? Is it the did they
- 17:13Speaker 1: happen to line up with the perfect team for what?
- 17:17Speaker 1: Like the magic can't make shots in this series? Well?
- 17:19Speaker 1: Perfect Neither can their opponent.
- 17:22Speaker 5: Yeah, that's a lot of it.
- 17:23Speaker 6: So, like I had been pretty firmly on the Pistons
- 17:26Speaker 6: aren't getting out of the second round. I've been on
- 17:28Speaker 6: that for months because they are fifteenth in EFFECTI field
- 17:31Speaker 6: goal percentage.
- 17:31Speaker 5: They can't shoot. They're just like not good enough.
- 17:33Speaker 6: They're not terrible, but they're not good enough and they
- 17:35Speaker 6: can't shoot it all in the series because like to
- 17:37Speaker 6: Orlando's credit, like Orlando's play great. They've gotten into them.
- 17:40Speaker 6: They've been physical again, these things that really haven't been there.
- 17:43Speaker 6: And it's not like you should not be like, oh,
- 17:45Speaker 6: we're missing one guy and therefore tiant team.
- 17:48Speaker 5: I Dad, he's gone.
- 17:49Speaker 6: That's not how this works, like you should be the
- 17:50Speaker 6: same team. But they just like showed up and started
- 17:52Speaker 6: playing like this. They've made the magic. I think it'd
- 17:56Speaker 6: been more aggressive. The biggest thing here has been Wendell
- 17:58Speaker 6: Carter Junior has just kicked Jalen Duran's ass up and
- 18:01Speaker 6: down the floor, like just killed him.
- 18:03Speaker 5: From tip off to buzzer.
- 18:06Speaker 6: Wendell Carter Junior has killed Jalen Duran and that's taken
- 18:11Speaker 6: away a huge part of the Pistons offense. Cay Cunningham
- 18:15Speaker 6: has had turnover problems. He's not making the right reads
- 18:17Speaker 6: when they switch, and then they're trailing. They're doing really
- 18:20Speaker 6: well when they try and slip the pick. The Magic
- 18:22Speaker 6: are just shutting it off completely. They don't have the
- 18:25Speaker 6: spacers to punish it. So it's a matchup thing. On
- 18:28Speaker 6: top of Detroit having I think probably a tenth percentile
- 18:32Speaker 6: performance and the Magic having what I would describe based
- 18:35Speaker 6: off of the season, they're having one let's say, what's
- 18:36Speaker 6: the number, Oh, a two hundred and fiftieth percentile performance.
- 18:39Speaker 5: That's how much difference this Magic team is.
- 18:41Speaker 4: Well, baby, So I could buy the argument that the
- 18:44Speaker 4: Magic are a little underseated because of injuries. But as
- 18:47Speaker 4: someone who didn't watch the NBA for one second during
- 18:51Speaker 4: the regular season and then we'll check out the playoffs
- 18:54Speaker 4: here and there, sure, I'm just like, how is this
- 18:58Speaker 4: Detroit team? How are the one seed it? And like
- 19:03Speaker 4: is this just not who the Pistons were during the
- 19:06Speaker 4: regular season? But they're like this team is the one seed?
- 19:09Speaker 4: Are they just like that? You're, hey, we there's like
- 19:11Speaker 4: the try hard team all regular season.
- 19:14Speaker 6: Yeah, so that's like Brandon Anderson didn't pay much attention
- 19:16Speaker 6: to the regular season, either came in and like instantly
- 19:19Speaker 6: tabbed the Pistons.
- 19:20Speaker 5: He's like, oh, they're like the.
- 19:21Speaker 6: Try hard, the try hard Tibbs team that goes really
- 19:25Speaker 6: hard in the regular season and like a lot of
- 19:27Speaker 6: it is like they were genuinely phenomenal defensively and that's
- 19:29Speaker 6: all disappeared here too, which again is kind of like
- 19:32Speaker 6: the weirdest part, Like the Magic didn't haven't shot, Like again,
- 19:35Speaker 6: the offense was terrible in Game four, but the Magic
- 19:37Speaker 6: had like some like the first game was like Franz
- 19:40Speaker 6: Wagner and Palo Bancaro having games of their universes, like
- 19:45Speaker 6: every version of them doesn't shoot that well and they
- 19:48Speaker 6: just like, I guess it's really good defense. Pistons have
- 19:51Speaker 6: looked very much like a team that burned really hard
- 19:53Speaker 6: throughout the regular season then got here and didn't have
- 19:56Speaker 6: another gear that they could get to. And those teams
- 19:58Speaker 6: are are always really bad like this. This is why,
- 20:00Speaker 6: like I don't have any business features whatsoever, is because
- 20:03Speaker 6: I did worry that this was going to happen to him.
- 20:05Speaker 6: I just didn't think it was gonna happen against the Magic, who,
- 20:07Speaker 6: like quite literally Jamal Mosley was dead man walking as
- 20:10Speaker 6: a coach ten days ago, like he was.
- 20:12Speaker 5: Dead, it was over. That guy was getting fired.
- 20:15Speaker 6: And they literally said that what woke them up was
- 20:18Speaker 6: losing the first play in game, Like how do you
- 20:23Speaker 6: get to losing the first play in game and be like, oh,
- 20:27Speaker 6: now we'll get it together and.
- 20:29Speaker 1: Mind you a week prior to that, they lost by
- 20:31Speaker 1: fifty three to the Raptors, like three.
- 20:34Speaker 5: Of the Raptors in the last game of the regular
- 20:36Speaker 5: season they lost. They needed the game.
- 20:38Speaker 6: For their lungs in order to try and make it
- 20:40Speaker 6: out of the of the play in tournament, and they
- 20:43Speaker 6: got beat by the Boston Celtics G League team, Like
- 20:47Speaker 6: it was absolutely pathetic. And here they are on the
- 20:49Speaker 6: doorstep of advancing in the second round.
- 20:52Speaker 1: Real quick before we move off of this series. The
- 20:55Speaker 1: Pistons are the third biggest favorite, down three to one
- 20:59Speaker 1: heading in a game five. Shot out to Evan Abrams
- 21:01Speaker 1: for that stat. The other one of the other three
- 21:06Speaker 1: we just saw was the Nuggets down three to one
- 21:09Speaker 1: as eleven and a half point favorites against the Timberwolves.
- 21:12Speaker 1: The Pistons nine and a half point favorites in game five.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Will you be betting that Matt.
- 21:19Speaker 6: I'm probably gonna stay away from it. I don't I
- 21:21Speaker 6: still don't trust Orlando. I just don't you know the trends.
- 21:24Speaker 6: I think you're probably gonna back Orlando in this spot,
- 21:28Speaker 6: given that the market is wrong and market's kind of
- 21:30Speaker 6: tied to the power rating and can't adjust enough. But
- 21:33Speaker 6: I still am just like I don't trust. I don't
- 21:36Speaker 6: trust either team in this spot. I do think like
- 21:38Speaker 6: the unders is gonna be a great play again, just
- 21:40Speaker 6: because I think the market is unable to kind of
- 21:42Speaker 6: encounter or kind of account for how terrible, how truly
- 21:47Speaker 6: terrible both these offenses have been. So I only part
- 21:51Speaker 6: of the side here because it's I think it's an
- 21:53Speaker 6: extremely dangerous spot with an Orlando team trying to finish
- 21:58Speaker 6: off an opponent in this particular spot on the road.
- 22:02Speaker 6: If Detroit gets it together, they could still win the
- 22:04Speaker 6: series like they are still a better team, because that's
- 22:07Speaker 6: how bad Orlando is.
- 22:10Speaker 2: I was telling the guys before you got on that
- 22:12Speaker 2: I'm far more invested in the Stanley Cup playoffs right now,
- 22:14Speaker 2: so I am rather casual about the NBA postseason. However,
- 22:18Speaker 2: the one bet I had was this Knicks Hawk series
- 22:21Speaker 2: to go over five and a half. I feel like,
- 22:22Speaker 2: outside of the magic, this is the series that people
- 22:24Speaker 2: who are.
- 22:25Speaker 3: Casual might be surprised by.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Are you surprised by this series and what are your
- 22:29Speaker 2: expectations for it the rest of the why I'm.
- 22:31Speaker 6: A little surprised just because Mike Brown's gotten absolutely worked
- 22:34Speaker 6: by Quinn Snyder. So like, one of the big things
- 22:37Speaker 6: that I kind of identified as a reason I like
- 22:39Speaker 6: the Knicks in the series was, oh, they've just they've
- 22:41Speaker 6: got such a massive size advantage.
- 22:43Speaker 5: Hawks traded kristavs.
- 22:44Speaker 6: Porzingis at the trade deadline, so their starting center is gone.
- 22:46Speaker 6: They didn't replace him with another viable option. They have
- 22:49Speaker 6: one center. It's on Kocongu. That's pretty much it.
- 22:51Speaker 1: That's it.
- 22:52Speaker 6: That's all they have at center. The Knicks have Karl
- 22:54Speaker 6: Anthony Towns and Mitchell Robinson and like to play them together.
- 22:57Speaker 6: They have played them together not at all in this series.
- 23:00Speaker 6: Mike Brown has falling for the classic trap of oh no,
- 23:02Speaker 6: they're small, we have to match them. Instead of being like,
- 23:05Speaker 6: we're going to kill you on the glass, We're going
- 23:07Speaker 6: to destroy you on the interior and kill you on
- 23:09Speaker 6: the glass and make the life miserable for you. Instead,
- 23:12Speaker 6: he's leaning into it, and that opens the door for
- 23:14Speaker 6: the Hawks to be able to do this.
- 23:15Speaker 2: Now.
- 23:15Speaker 6: I think the Knicks probably in Game four kind of
- 23:17Speaker 6: stabilized and got themselves back together. I think they're in
- 23:20Speaker 6: a pretty good spot for where they're going to be
- 23:23Speaker 6: able to go from here. But you know, Craig quinn Snyder,
- 23:25Speaker 6: I think that he's designed a really great game plan
- 23:28Speaker 6: for going after this nixt team, and Mike Brown has
- 23:30Speaker 6: fallen into the trap where there's a lot of talk
- 23:32Speaker 6: about Mike Brown getting fired if they don't make the finals.
- 23:36Speaker 2: So do you think that Are you still in the
- 23:38Speaker 2: camp that you think that the Knicks survived this series?
- 23:41Speaker 3: I am yeah, because oh no, go ahead.
- 23:45Speaker 6: Oh So the problem for Atlanta is that if you
- 23:48Speaker 6: look at where they're getting offense from, it's all in transition,
- 23:52Speaker 6: and the problem is in the play and a very
- 23:55Speaker 6: basic adjustment is like, hey, let's stop crashing the glass,
- 23:57Speaker 6: let's get back. That takes the Knicks out of what
- 23:59Speaker 6: they want to do, but it is a possible adjustment.
- 24:02Speaker 6: The Hawk's half court offense has been absolutely terrible. Jalen
- 24:05Speaker 6: Johnson struggled, Nikhil Alexander Walker's not having a good series.
- 24:09Speaker 6: They've had great performances from CJ. McCollum that have been timely.
- 24:12Speaker 6: But when you look at kind of the overall arc
- 24:14Speaker 6: of the series, the Knicks are still in a pretty
- 24:16Speaker 6: good spot.
- 24:17Speaker 4: Well kind of zooming in on the East and then
- 24:20Speaker 4: zooming back out Calves Raptors. Maybe this is just a
- 24:24Speaker 4: series that goes seven home team win wins all the games.
- 24:28Speaker 4: What is do the Cavs need to blow this up?
- 24:31Speaker 4: And if not, if you don't believe that, can they
- 24:35Speaker 4: give Who do you think is coming out of the East?
- 24:38Speaker 4: Is that the Celtics the Knicks? Do the Calves have
- 24:40Speaker 4: a shot?
- 24:41Speaker 2: Like?
- 24:41Speaker 4: What is something just seems off with the Calves. I
- 24:43Speaker 4: don't know if it's their their defense, if they're just
- 24:46Speaker 4: a little My friend who is die hardcats and says,
- 24:49Speaker 4: I asked him coming in, I was like, do you
- 24:51Speaker 4: think the Calves plus one fifteen to get to the
- 24:54Speaker 4: conference finals? Almost bet it? And he's his response to
- 24:56Speaker 4: me was he watches every single one of their games.
- 24:59Speaker 4: He's said, I think they are the softest team in
- 25:03Speaker 4: the league. So he said, someone will get hurt against
- 25:06Speaker 4: the Pistons and the excuses will flow. But they've been
- 25:10Speaker 4: dicking around since early March. Can they flip a switch?
- 25:13Speaker 4: Everyone here assumes it's happening, So what do you what
- 25:16Speaker 4: are your thoughts in the Calves and like, who at
- 25:18Speaker 4: the end of the day is coming out of the East.
- 25:21Speaker 6: Yeah, So the soft thing is a very common criticism
- 25:25Speaker 6: with Calves fans, and they're pretty fed up with it.
- 25:27Speaker 6: They are the Calves are one of multiple teams. There's
- 25:31Speaker 6: like five teams where it's like they got to blow
- 25:32Speaker 6: this thing up, like everything is going so badly, Like
- 25:35Speaker 6: Houston's on the verge of this, like either Albert Shangun
- 25:38Speaker 6: or Kevin Durants getting traded the summer. The Nuggets are
- 25:41Speaker 6: facing a massive overhaul if they lose in the first
- 25:44Speaker 6: round of the Wolves. Everyone is kind of like failing
- 25:47Speaker 6: and facing massive changes because it's just like you are
- 25:49Speaker 6: so far away. It feels like I like Toronto a
- 25:52Speaker 6: lot in this matchup. I bet them plus two and
- 25:54Speaker 6: a half on the series spread. I bet them plus
- 25:56Speaker 6: one and a half. I think they can get one
- 25:57Speaker 6: more game before the series started. I just like the matchup.
- 26:01Speaker 6: The thing with the Calves is, you know, yes they're
- 26:04Speaker 6: soft and yes they're flood However, if they can get
- 26:08Speaker 6: past Toronto, which I think that they can, just because
- 26:10Speaker 6: Toronto doesn't have enough offense to be able to win
- 26:12Speaker 6: two out of three. Look at the path, it's gonna
- 26:16Speaker 6: be this Magic. So that's where this question becomes interesting.
- 26:18Speaker 6: It's like, do you think the Magic can really win
- 26:20Speaker 6: two series? Can the Magic win if the Magic have
- 26:23Speaker 6: passed Detroit? Can they beat two teams?
- 26:25Speaker 5: I think they were very.
- 26:26Speaker 6: Specifically built to be able to build a beat a
- 26:29Speaker 6: team that has no offense in Detroit. But the Caves
- 26:31Speaker 6: have an elite offense, Like they have scorers everywhere, Mitchell
- 26:34Speaker 6: and Harden, They've got shooters and Merrill, They've got Evan Mobley,
- 26:37Speaker 6: and they've got Jared Allen on the pick and roll.
- 26:40Speaker 6: And the Magic are tough though, like they are more
- 26:42Speaker 6: physical and so they will get into them. So maybe
- 26:45Speaker 6: that's enough. I think the gap is too wide, Like
- 26:47Speaker 6: I still think the Calves are making the conference finals.
- 26:49Speaker 6: You can't really be all that impressed with Boston yet
- 26:52Speaker 6: you can't really be impressed with New York, whos struggling
- 26:55Speaker 6: with the Hawks. So there's the answer in the Eastern
- 26:58Speaker 6: Conference is pretty much pass. That's the only thing you
- 27:01Speaker 6: can kind of do here with the Eastern Conference because
- 27:03Speaker 6: every team just is kind of a joke.
- 27:07Speaker 4: And when the entire NBA playoffs is just Thunder versus Spurs.
- 27:10Speaker 5: Yeah, it's pretty much it.
- 27:11Speaker 2: So you're not in the camp of whoever survives the
- 27:14Speaker 2: Knicks Celtics series will come out of the Eastern Conference
- 27:16Speaker 2: because that's kind of where I'm at.
- 27:18Speaker 6: I think that's that's like the that's the chalk answer, right,
- 27:21Speaker 6: and I get it. I think there's actually quite a
- 27:22Speaker 6: bit of value on Knicks. I think the Knicks can
- 27:24Speaker 6: get past his Hawks team.
- 27:26Speaker 2: Jason Tatum tours Achilles in Madison Square Garden.
- 27:29Speaker 5: That brain that's gonna be.
- 27:31Speaker 4: Did you fill out a bracket before the playoffs? I
- 27:34Speaker 4: know people do that, would like predict the finals? Who
- 27:37Speaker 4: did you? Who were your finals?
- 27:38Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 27:38Speaker 5: So my my finals was gonna was Nick's Thunder with
- 27:43Speaker 5: Thunder in six. That was where I got got.
- 27:45Speaker 4: To, are you sticking with that right now?
- 27:47Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 27:47Speaker 5: I'll go with that right now. It seems obvious.
- 27:49Speaker 6: I'm the only thing that gives me pause is the
- 27:52Speaker 6: NBA is very much a and like I think the
- 27:55Speaker 6: all sports kind of are like this, where we're like
- 27:57Speaker 6: beginning of NFL season, it was, Oh, I mean it's
- 28:00Speaker 6: gonna be one of Baltimore, Buffalo or Kansas City.
- 28:02Speaker 5: We know that.
- 28:03Speaker 6: No, no, no, And so instead, you know, in the NBA,
- 28:09Speaker 6: we're like, oh, it's definitely gonna be Celtics Thunder.
- 28:11Speaker 5: No, No, it's not. It's not gonna be one of
- 28:13Speaker 5: those Celtics are.
- 28:15Speaker 6: I think they're in a really good spot here, like obviously,
- 28:17Speaker 6: like they're gonna kill the Sixers team with them, be
- 28:19Speaker 6: back and get to the second round, have more rest.
- 28:21Speaker 5: Uh, they're very balanced.
- 28:22Speaker 6: There are flaws with Boston though, and I do think
- 28:24Speaker 6: the New York is live against them in the second round.
- 28:27Speaker 6: So I still think that New York has a really
- 28:28Speaker 6: good chance of coming out. The whole thing is the.
- 28:31Speaker 5: Cav Brandon Anderson's on Calves.
- 28:33Speaker 6: That's like his team that he was like loaded up
- 28:35Speaker 6: on on futures because the path was there for him
- 28:37Speaker 6: to make a run. And they're still in a really
- 28:38Speaker 6: good position for them to be in that kind of opportunity.
- 28:42Speaker 6: But if you think it, like if you to ask
- 28:43Speaker 6: me about a Calves Knicks matchup, I'm like, I kind
- 28:46Speaker 6: of like the Calves. If you ask me about a
- 28:48Speaker 6: Calves Celtics matchup, but kind of like the Celtics, it
- 28:50Speaker 6: kind of depends on where what which matchup they get
- 28:53Speaker 6: into the conference finals, which means it's probably gonna be
- 28:56Speaker 6: like Orlando Boston and then Boston will murder them.
- 28:59Speaker 2: Are you think you Thinkin's bigger problem is their lack
- 29:01Speaker 2: of that like third guy consistently in the big three,
- 29:05Speaker 2: like some Knights at Stic White sometimes it's Peyton Pritchard.
- 29:07Speaker 3: Or do you think it's more so their problem.
- 29:09Speaker 2: Is gonna be the chemistry integrating Jason Tatum back into
- 29:14Speaker 2: kind of becoming that number one when it's been Jalen
- 29:16Speaker 2: Brown all season long.
- 29:18Speaker 6: I think that's a long term thing, just because I
- 29:20Speaker 6: think Jalen based off of everything I've heard, Jalen Brown
- 29:23Speaker 6: is like I could have always been this just so
- 29:25Speaker 6: everybody knows, I could have always been this guy, and
- 29:28Speaker 6: I chose a sacrifice. And then you think, like he's
- 29:31Speaker 6: getting a little highed of being disrespected.
- 29:33Speaker 1: He's getting.
- 29:34Speaker 3: The media too.
- 29:35Speaker 6: Yeah, he's not been subtle with it. The problem with
- 29:38Speaker 6: Boston really is that they play a style that leaves
- 29:41Speaker 6: them open to variants where they will have a night
- 29:44Speaker 6: where they are so dependent on threes.
- 29:46Speaker 5: Mm hm that on any given night.
- 29:48Speaker 6: If those don't fall, like that happened to them versus
- 29:51Speaker 6: the Sixers and they lost to Philadelphia last year versus
- 29:54Speaker 6: the Knicks. That's really what it was, is they didn't
- 29:56Speaker 6: hit their threes and New York hit their threes, and
- 29:57Speaker 6: that's it, Like, that's what happened.
- 29:59Speaker 2: You know.
- 29:59Speaker 5: The Jayson Tatum injury didn't happen until the end of
- 30:01Speaker 5: that series.
- 30:02Speaker 1: And so.
- 30:04Speaker 6: Boston leaves itself vulnerable in ways that it doesn't necessarily
- 30:07Speaker 6: have to based off of the talent. They're an extremely
- 30:09Speaker 6: talented team, Like if you talk top to bottom best players,
- 30:14Speaker 6: it's them or Calves. But they leave themselves open with
- 30:19Speaker 6: how they play.
- 30:20Speaker 2: Do you think that's because Joe Mizzoula doesn't want to
- 30:23Speaker 2: be wrong about the mathematics of it all, or do
- 30:25Speaker 2: you think that he just truly thinks that that's the
- 30:27Speaker 2: way that you win basketball games, Because there's been rumors
- 30:30Speaker 2: up here that like at times Brad Stevens has had
- 30:33Speaker 2: to be like Joe, stop shooting the three.
- 30:35Speaker 6: Yeah, I think it's not even so much like a
- 30:38Speaker 6: matter of he doesn't want to be it's just that
- 30:40Speaker 6: he will not like he will not be like, no,
- 30:42Speaker 6: with the course of time, we will win. And after
- 30:45Speaker 6: the twenty twenty four title when they killed everyone, it's
- 30:47Speaker 6: hard argue with him, Like that's the problem is like
- 30:49Speaker 6: it does work. It really does work. Like if you
- 30:51Speaker 6: have a math advantage, it's always going to be in
- 30:53Speaker 6: your favor. Like that's where the NBA still is. Teams
- 30:57Speaker 6: have compensated a lot. We're seeing so many unders in
- 30:59Speaker 6: the playoffs these day, and there's been I think a
- 31:02Speaker 6: teams are getting smarter about how to guard some of
- 31:04Speaker 6: these mechanisms. But at the same time, if you're just
- 31:08Speaker 6: a team that never shoots threes and the other team
- 31:09Speaker 6: shoots a ton of them, you are up against it.
- 31:11Speaker 6: You have got to hope that things swing your way
- 31:13Speaker 6: or you're screwed.
- 31:14Speaker 1: We had thirty two shooting from the Raptors, and they
- 31:18Speaker 1: want a game against the Calves. The Magic did the
- 31:21Speaker 1: same thing against the Pistons. Is that the way that
- 31:24Speaker 1: you're tending to look game to game or is it
- 31:27Speaker 1: very much series dependent? Think all right, Like are you
- 31:30Speaker 1: blindly leaning under or are you leaning under based on
- 31:34Speaker 1: the specific matchup?
- 31:36Speaker 5: I think it's a specific matchup. I think you gotta
- 31:38Speaker 5: be in the right context.
- 31:40Speaker 6: And I also look at I think home versus Away
- 31:42Speaker 6: is a big swing here about where they're getting offense from.
- 31:44Speaker 6: I think, yeah, look at you know, the calves on
- 31:46Speaker 6: the road have been really struggled offensively. I think that
- 31:49Speaker 6: there's a I think you've got to be careful about
- 31:52Speaker 6: going you know, never go blindly on anything. But the
- 31:56Speaker 6: other the other factor here, I do think is the
- 31:58Speaker 6: you know, styles make fights, and we got a bunch
- 32:00Speaker 6: of styles of defenses that have the ability to clog
- 32:03Speaker 6: up the opponent's offense in the first round.
- 32:05Speaker 5: They may not happen going forward.
- 32:09Speaker 4: Achilles. I have an achilles two part Achilles questions. One,
- 32:13Speaker 4: it's kind of serious, kind of not how many more
- 32:15Speaker 4: achilles need to be torn for the NBA to shorten
- 32:19Speaker 4: their season? And two did an achilles injury plus a
- 32:25Speaker 4: knee injury save the Nuggets from blowing this all up?
- 32:30Speaker 4: And might that be a bad thing in the long run?
- 32:34Speaker 4: Assuming you think that they're going to win this, win
- 32:36Speaker 4: the series.
- 32:37Speaker 5: Yeah, I'll go backwards. I don't know if they're gonna win.
- 32:40Speaker 5: There's a lot of skepticism in Denver about them winning
- 32:42Speaker 5: the series.
- 32:42Speaker 1: Still.
- 32:42Speaker 6: It's like, but they were without Anthony Edwards. Yeah, that's
- 32:45Speaker 6: how sad Denver has been, I think.
- 32:51Speaker 4: And den Dante's I mean their whole starting backcourt.
- 32:53Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, I mean, look, they couldn't the Wolves last night.
- 32:57Speaker 6: You couldn't do anything offensively, couldn't do anything offensively.
- 33:01Speaker 4: They got to close out and just six is their
- 33:03Speaker 4: only chance.
- 33:04Speaker 6: Right they got they gotta get it. They got to
- 33:05Speaker 6: get six or they're dead and seven. I agree. I
- 33:09Speaker 6: don't know that this has saved them because it's like
- 33:12Speaker 6: they have to then now, So it's gonna be very weird.
- 33:14Speaker 6: What if they struggle with the Wolves and then they
- 33:16Speaker 6: beat the Spurs, because that matchup I think is better
- 33:18Speaker 6: for them, Like they've been really good versus San Antonio,
- 33:21Speaker 6: and if they beat San Antonio then it changes the
- 33:23Speaker 6: entire thing. The problem for them is like it's not talent,
- 33:26Speaker 6: it's not like how the roster is put together. It's
- 33:29Speaker 6: just Nikola Jokic played like you wanted to go back
- 33:31Speaker 6: to Serbia and hammer beer all day every day.
- 33:35Speaker 5: Horses, Yes, while riding horses.
- 33:38Speaker 6: Just drinking constantly, well, riding horses. That's how That's how
- 33:43Speaker 6: he played for four games, That's how he played. He
- 33:45Speaker 6: just like wasn't and then he started to actually, like
- 33:47Speaker 6: last night he said a tone and they got the
- 33:50Speaker 6: win magic.
- 33:52Speaker 4: That Randall Layot might the spark, Uh yeah.
- 33:55Speaker 6: And then but on the Achilles thing, uh, Silver has
- 33:59Speaker 6: just maintained.
- 34:01Speaker 5: Silver is a So there's there's the scene in zero Dark.
- 34:05Speaker 6: Thirty where the advisor for the president is talking and
- 34:09Speaker 6: he's like, the president's a thoughtful, analytical guy. He needs
- 34:11Speaker 6: data like he wants like factual information, and Adam Silver
- 34:16Speaker 6: is exactly that way. He's a guy that unless the
- 34:19Speaker 6: data tells him we are suffering injuries at a historically
- 34:22Speaker 6: higher rate that can be definitively proven by the wear
- 34:25Speaker 6: and tear of the season, he's not gonna buy it,
- 34:28Speaker 6: in part because like the owners don't want to hear it.
- 34:29Speaker 6: The owners are just like, no, we make so much more.
- 34:31Speaker 6: Look at how much money we're making. He want us
- 34:33Speaker 6: to give money back? No, I absolutely not.
- 34:35Speaker 5: Players.
- 34:35Speaker 6: I think are actually at a point of being willing to.
- 34:38Speaker 6: I think players are actually at the point of being like,
- 34:40Speaker 6: we can talk about a reduction if we can play
- 34:43Speaker 6: fewer games. And I don't think the ownership is willing
- 34:46Speaker 6: to go to even open that that pathway at all.
- 34:50Speaker 6: It is painful because everyone knows that. Not only like
- 34:54Speaker 6: the injuries are obviously like a huge reason to do this,
- 34:56Speaker 6: like the you know, alleviating pain, pain and suffering. But
- 35:00Speaker 6: the other thing is that we would get so many
- 35:02Speaker 6: better games, like the fact that everyone's like the regular
- 35:04Speaker 6: season sucks. Should not be how it is, like, we
- 35:06Speaker 6: should be able to get good games in the regular
- 35:08Speaker 6: season consistently and more often. And you can't do it
- 35:10Speaker 6: with travel.
- 35:11Speaker 5: You just can't.
- 35:11Speaker 6: You cannot do it with playing three and fours, five
- 35:13Speaker 6: and sevens back to backs. But they won't listen because
- 35:16Speaker 6: the money. And that's the end of it. It's just
- 35:18Speaker 6: like the money is there, they won't do it.
- 35:20Speaker 4: What they might do, they don't do good games, and
- 35:21Speaker 4: then every playoff series is determined by injuries.
- 35:23Speaker 6: Yeah, so what they might do is they might build
- 35:25Speaker 6: in more rest in the regular season. I think there
- 35:26Speaker 6: is going to be a push this summer to extend
- 35:29Speaker 6: to do the opposite, which is extend the schedule in
- 35:31Speaker 6: terms of the days, move back to the beginning of October.
- 35:35Speaker 5: Like no one cares.
- 35:36Speaker 6: About about the NBA until February. Anyway, you might as
- 35:40Speaker 6: well start earlier and then extend to the right into
- 35:42Speaker 6: the end of April, stretch it out get fewer back
- 35:44Speaker 6: to backs and more rest.
- 35:46Speaker 1: The pace issue is something that should probably be addressed
- 35:50Speaker 1: as well. I think that's been a huge part of
- 35:52Speaker 1: the equation. So actionable item here and we'll give out
- 35:55Speaker 1: our plant the flag bets for futures in the NBA
- 36:00Speaker 1: Playoffs in a moment. But from what I gather for
- 36:04Speaker 1: folks out there that are listening to this saying I'm
- 36:06Speaker 1: casually watching the NBA Playoffs, I just want a winning
- 36:09Speaker 1: ticket out there. Taking the Thunder to win the title
- 36:12Speaker 1: at minus one ten not a ton of fun. Maybe
- 36:15Speaker 1: you pair it with the Boston Celtics to come out
- 36:18Speaker 1: of the East, the Thunder to come out of the
- 36:20Speaker 1: West plus one ninety two on draft kings. For someone
- 36:24Speaker 1: that just wants to have a nice long term ticket
- 36:28Speaker 1: that has a chance to see the light of day,
- 36:30Speaker 1: is that one that you would suggest the so MVP
- 36:34Speaker 1: next year?
- 36:35Speaker 6: There you I love Io, He's so good man. I
- 36:39Speaker 6: actually think that a good one to get in on.
- 36:42Speaker 6: Is there there's a real path here for this. I
- 36:45Speaker 6: think that we're going to see an upset in the
- 36:47Speaker 6: Eastern Conference. So let's say not Boston, right, and I do.
- 36:51Speaker 6: I will say this, this is setting up very nicely.
- 36:53Speaker 6: Let's say that the Wolves close it out in six, Well,
- 36:55Speaker 6: then they're dead meat versus Antonio Towns or not Towns,
- 37:01Speaker 6: and it's not gonna be back until probably Game three.
- 37:04Speaker 6: I think he plays next round, but I just don't
- 37:05Speaker 6: think he's back before Game three. They lost a major shooter,
- 37:08Speaker 6: they're tired, They're gonna play the game a seven game series.
- 37:12Speaker 6: I don't hate the matchup for Minnesota, but I do
- 37:13Speaker 6: hate it if they don't have Anthony Edwards. All right,
- 37:16Speaker 6: so san Antonio advances. San Antonio said, okay, so he's
- 37:18Speaker 6: number the entire season, like the victor. Remenniam is the
- 37:22Speaker 6: one individual that really messes with him. Now, I've been
- 37:25Speaker 6: low on the Spurs future hopes because they're so inexperienced,
- 37:30Speaker 6: and I do think that matters, but they're in a
- 37:34Speaker 6: very unique position with the path that's been set up
- 37:36Speaker 6: where it's like, all right, you gotta get past you
- 37:38Speaker 6: know this Blazer's team isn't good. Then a banged up, exhausted,
- 37:44Speaker 6: shorthanded Wolves team, Okay, that gets you to the conference finals,
- 37:48Speaker 6: and then the conference finals you faced team that has
- 37:50Speaker 6: been absolutely that you have owned and everyone knows you've
- 37:54Speaker 6: owned and they know it, and they've talked about it
- 37:56Speaker 6: about how Victor remenyiam is a problem. So if you
- 37:58Speaker 6: get on something like Sam Antonio to beat the Knicks
- 38:03Speaker 6: as an exacta, I think that that has actually, like
- 38:06Speaker 6: a like a pretty good amount of value here based
- 38:09Speaker 6: off of what were the number that you're able to
- 38:11Speaker 6: get in the market.
- 38:12Speaker 5: So do that one.
- 38:13Speaker 6: Or if you like the Calves better, you can definitely
- 38:15Speaker 6: take the Calves. Spurs to beat Nicks is twenty eight
- 38:18Speaker 6: to one, and I think that's I think there's a
- 38:20Speaker 6: real chance that that winds up and it gives you
- 38:22Speaker 6: options that those series go deep to be able to
- 38:25Speaker 6: bet your way out of it.
- 38:26Speaker 1: Too fun way to look at it. Or you can
- 38:28Speaker 1: take Io Desumo MVP in the twenty six twenty seventh
- 38:31Speaker 1: season or Garrett us Meyer Rookie of the Year in
- 38:34Speaker 1: the NFL. You know a lot of different ways we
- 38:36Speaker 1: can look. We get a Kendra endorsement there time for
- 38:39Speaker 1: hour plant the flag segments on our Tuesday episode.
- 38:44Speaker 5: Might flag and shut up. I'm trying to plant my
- 38:47Speaker 5: flag here.
- 38:48Speaker 1: Okay, you're really planning your flag in that dext So
- 38:51Speaker 1: let's plant the flag on an NBA futures bet any future.
- 38:55Speaker 1: It could be the end of Round one, could be
- 38:57Speaker 1: deep into the NBA Finals, all presented by f Kings.
- 39:00Speaker 1: The crown is yours, Kendro, we will start with you.
- 39:04Speaker 2: I changed my mind literally two minutes ago about where
- 39:07Speaker 2: I was gonna go with this.
- 39:08Speaker 3: But I started overthinking.
- 39:10Speaker 2: And God loves and hates Boston at the same time.
- 39:14Speaker 2: And what quicker way to bury the Diana Rassini and
- 39:18Speaker 2: Mike Rabel news than for the Celtics to make the
- 39:21Speaker 2: Eastern Conference Finals and eventually.
- 39:23Speaker 3: The NBA Finals. I'm gonna go because it's Jalen Brown's
- 39:26Speaker 3: team this year.
- 39:27Speaker 2: I'm gonna go Jalen Brown Eastern Conference MVP plus two
- 39:31Speaker 2: twenty five because I wish that God hated Boston more
- 39:35Speaker 2: than he does. But here we are, He loves them,
- 39:38Speaker 2: and I want to party. So That's where I'm finding
- 39:41Speaker 2: value in this. And I have my tinfoil hat on, Sueme.
- 39:46Speaker 1: You live with your tinfoil hat on, so oh yeah yeah,
- 39:48Speaker 1: maybe there'll be a long court case.
- 39:50Speaker 4: Yep.
- 39:51Speaker 1: Matt, what are your thoughts on on Kendra's wager?
- 39:53Speaker 4: Here?
- 39:54Speaker 1: And what is your plant the flag bet NBA futures.
- 39:57Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm trying to figure out that out. Like if
- 39:59Speaker 6: the Celtics win, gonna be the Conference finals MVP. I
- 40:01Speaker 6: think it's like a fascinating question because Tatum is the
- 40:03Speaker 6: favorite again after Brown was the favorite for months and
- 40:07Speaker 6: months and months and months, and now there you know,
- 40:08Speaker 6: you can get even a ed DK on both of
- 40:10Speaker 6: them at plus T twenty five. It's gonna be one
- 40:14Speaker 6: of those two guys. Derek White has struggled this entire season.
- 40:16Speaker 6: I like Derek White as an option for because I
- 40:19Speaker 6: always kind of go for who's the guy that in
- 40:21Speaker 6: a conference finals, not finals conference finals environment can have
- 40:25Speaker 6: the kind of series that turns things. I do kind
- 40:30Speaker 6: of agree with hero Ond Jalen Brown. I just thinted
- 40:31Speaker 6: that with Tatum, you know, he will hit kind of
- 40:34Speaker 6: a wall, probably coming back from the injury after being
- 40:37Speaker 6: off for a year, and then with the kind of
- 40:39Speaker 6: forwards that he's likely to face no matter who he faces,
- 40:42Speaker 6: whether it's Orlando or Cleveland, I think there's a very
- 40:46Speaker 6: good opportunity there. For or Toronto, there's a very good
- 40:49Speaker 6: opportunity to slow that down, and then for Jalen Brown
- 40:51Speaker 6: to go absolutely nuts, So I like it.
- 40:52Speaker 5: I think that's actually really good value.
- 40:54Speaker 1: And what is your futures bet? As we plant our flag?
- 40:58Speaker 5: I'm I'm gonna stay with this.
- 41:00Speaker 6: Jalen Brunson plus seven hundred Eastern Conference Finals MVP. I
- 41:04Speaker 6: just the Knicks blew some of these games. I think
- 41:10Speaker 6: they're getting out of the series. I think they're winning it.
- 41:13Speaker 6: And this floor for the for the Knicks is still
- 41:15Speaker 6: so high, like they have great wing defenders and og Anobi.
- 41:19Speaker 6: I think Mchal Bridges will get hit whatever's going on
- 41:21Speaker 6: with them together. Josh Hart's playing maybe the best basketball
- 41:24Speaker 6: of his life. Karl Anthony Towns is playing absolutely fantastic.
- 41:27Speaker 6: I kind of think that they're just like their floor.
- 41:30Speaker 6: I think the Celtics floor is beneath New York's, and
- 41:33Speaker 6: I think that's kind of the story of the Eastern
- 41:34Speaker 6: Conference is like whose floor is highest?
- 41:36Speaker 5: And I think it's New York.
- 41:38Speaker 6: So Jalen Brunson plus seven hundred make a bunch of
- 41:40Speaker 6: clutch shots. Eastern Conference Finals MVP is my play my flag.
- 41:43Speaker 1: Stucky, where do you land?
- 41:45Speaker 4: I'm gonna stick with the one I mentioned earlier. Calves
- 41:47Speaker 4: to make the Eastern Conference Finals their favorite now, but
- 41:50Speaker 4: that's a really good but I think they're gonna beat there.
- 41:54Speaker 4: I think there's a good chances to go seven, but
- 41:55Speaker 4: it's gonna be one of those series where team wins
- 41:59Speaker 4: every game and then I think the Magic are going
- 42:01Speaker 4: to beat the Pistons, and I think the Calves have
- 42:03Speaker 4: too much firepower for the Magic. And if it's the Pistons,
- 42:07Speaker 4: I don't trust Detroit's coach one bit or this offense.
- 42:12Speaker 4: I don't think they'll have enough against the Calves. So yeah,
- 42:14Speaker 4: give me, give me Cleveland to advance to the Eastern
- 42:16Speaker 4: Conference Finals.
- 42:18Speaker 1: Advance to the Eastern Conference Finals is plus one fifteen
- 42:21Speaker 1: to win the Eastern Conference Finals? Is that? Isn't that
- 42:26Speaker 1: the case you? You had said that earlier. I don't
- 42:29Speaker 1: see it here, but for the playoffs.
- 42:32Speaker 4: But now the Magic roup three to one, it's I
- 42:34Speaker 4: think it's like minus one thirty.
- 42:35Speaker 1: Now, if you want them to win the Eastern Conference,
- 42:40Speaker 1: that's plus three twenty. Not a bad look either, if
- 42:42Speaker 1: you believe in those pesky Calves. I'm gonna go with things.
- 42:49Speaker 4: I don't do they have conference I don't think they
- 42:53Speaker 4: have conference final right now. But I think it's around
- 42:57Speaker 4: like minus one thirty is elsewhere.
- 43:00Speaker 1: I'm gonna go with the I'm gonna stay within round one.
- 43:03Speaker 1: I'm gonna go with the Rockets plus five point fifty
- 43:06Speaker 1: now over on DraftKings to make it out of round
- 43:10Speaker 1: one against the Lakers. They're down three to one in
- 43:12Speaker 1: this series. I am dug in. I think they win
- 43:15Speaker 1: Game five in LA. I think they smash in Game
- 43:17Speaker 1: six on their home floor, and then we'll sit pretty
- 43:21Speaker 1: with a plus five fifty in Game seven, and I'll
- 43:23Speaker 1: take my chances against what I believe to be the
- 43:26Speaker 1: worst starting lineup in the playoffs. Right now, Lebron love you.
- 43:31Speaker 1: You're still forty, Luke Canard, Marcus Smart, DeAndre Ayton, Ruy Hachimura.
- 43:36Speaker 1: This is not a playoff roster. I still like the
- 43:41Speaker 1: Rockets to get it done.
- 43:43Speaker 4: I think with Durants out again tonight, right.
- 43:45Speaker 1: I don't care. I think in some ways they they
- 43:48Speaker 1: play better without him.
- 43:49Speaker 5: Durants out and Austin Reeves is back.
- 43:53Speaker 1: The Reeves thing makes me more nervous.
- 43:54Speaker 3: Crazy Kravitz.
- 43:56Speaker 5: Yeah, that's as a.
- 43:59Speaker 3: Giving Falcons future.
- 44:01Speaker 6: The bigger problem is just like you're actually that's a
- 44:03Speaker 6: The Falcons is a great comparison, just like you're trusting
- 44:07Speaker 6: Houston not not to mess this up. Like that was
- 44:10Speaker 6: my entire cap on the series, was Houston's gonna screw
- 44:14Speaker 6: this up. That was my entire cap on it. Because
- 44:16Speaker 6: their chemistry is horrendous. That team is in the bad place.
- 44:20Speaker 1: They but they made their way out. They you know
- 44:23Speaker 1: what it took them going down three to zero to
- 44:25Speaker 1: wake up. Sometimes take it from my magic. Sometimes it
- 44:30Speaker 1: takes a minute, sure to shake the demons. That is
- 44:34Speaker 1: our Draft Kings Plant the Flag segment NBA Futures. Addition,
- 44:39Speaker 1: a quick recap for you. Kendra is on Jalen Brown
- 44:42Speaker 1: Eastern Conference MVP at plus two to twenty five. Stucky
- 44:46Speaker 1: has the Calves making it to the Eastern Conference Finals.
- 44:50Speaker 1: I've got the Rockets plus five point fifty to beat
- 44:53Speaker 1: the Lakers in round one. And Matt Moore from Buckets
- 44:57Speaker 1: on Jalen Brunt's in Eastern Conference Finals and VP that
- 45:01Speaker 1: is plus seven hundred, go and get it over on
- 45:04Speaker 1: Draft Kings where the crown is yours. Matt, Thanks so
